The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, And All The Scary Movie...
There are many movies, books, and TV shows that make fun of evil. The Simpsons, Family Guy,
Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of evil.
Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things into
something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with all these
ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for good. The
Simpsons has an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode where
Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that is the
way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian theodicy.
Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons. Perhaps people
didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over people. Maybe it is
for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous TV shows and
movies afore mentioned, mock evil.
In Aladdin, there is a parrot named Iago. Iago is voiced by Gilbert Gottfried and appeared in the first
film as the sidekick to the main antagonist Jafar, and later becomes one of the protagonists for the rest
of the franchise s run. He even leaves Jafar, and goes on to try to cause chaos on his own while
singing I m Looking out for Me. First, the fact one of the main antagonists is a small

Disadvantages Of The Montreal Protocol
3.0 ADVANTAGES OF MONTREAL PROTOCOL The Montreal Protocol was use to save our ozone
layer that has become less thick and it was not good condition for us as human that was live in earth.
So this protocol was proposed so that we can save and reduce the gas that affects our ozone layer that
was protecting us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. This protocol was working when the scientist
confirmed that the ozone layer was slowly to recover around 2050. There are many advantages that we
get when Montreal Protocol was proposed by the government. Firstly, the Montreal Protocol can give
dual benefit to the society or human. This is because the Montreal Protocol has given help to reduce
global warming and at the same times protect the ozone layer. This was proven according to the
research that was done by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. That research also
shows that the effect of the ozone depleting substances will become worse if the scientist not discover
about change of the thickness in ozone layer. If the Montreal Protocol can reduce ... Show more

However, synthetic pesticides present hazardous impacts far beyond their intended targets. As
Montreal Protocol is restricting the use of ozone depleting substances, other initiative can be carried
out in order to reduce the usage of synthetic pesticides, which is classical biological control. This is
the practice of importing, and releasing for establishment, natural enemies to control an introduced
pest. Classical biological control is long lasting and inexpensive. Other than the initial costs of
collection, importation, and rearing, little expense is needed. When a natural enemy is successfully
established it rarely requires additional input and it continues to kill the pest with no direct help from
humans and at no

ATVs Are a Rip Off
Why are ATVs and UTVs so expensive? Do manufacturers really have to mark up the prices so much?
How much profit do these workers really need? And is high markup really a good selling strategy for
the long run? All of these questions are very frequently asked by many consumers of ATVs and UTVs.
ATVs as well as UTVs are rugged utility vehicles meant for off road purposes such a hauling heavy
loads or just plain old having fun. ATVs can seat up to two people, whereas UTVs can haul up to six
people. For the limited use ATVs and UTVs have, they really should not cost as much as they do
today.
ATVs and UTVs don t have nearly any of the features cars do. For example, ATVs don t have radios,
are relatively uncomfortable for the long trail rides, and don t have any protection to the elements.
Also, most ATVs are limited to under 70 miles per hour because of the small engine size and heavy
body usually over 500lbs. One ATV that is upgraded to the top of the line vehicle can cost well into
the $20,000 s. In addition, ATVs only seat one person in general, and are at most half the size of even
the smallest hybrid cars. Because of their size, they don t usually even have much room to put
anything such as groceries or other goods. UTVs are somewhat of a different story, but still have
limitations. The largest of the UTVs may be as big as a midsize car and seat 6 people, but it is still
very cramped, and unless the buyer wants to hike the price up to around the $30,000s, these also

Cajun American Culture
Death of Cajun America Most historical landmarks that once stood in Lafayette stands in ruins as the
lack of funding to preserve them is spent elsewhere. Along with the modern culture redefining
celebrations such as Mardi Gras to be a revenue income for the state. The true meaning will never be
the same. The culture can be traced back to its routes with the people who once celebrated the event.
But with more job in the area requiring English to be spoken. The native tongue has been ripped out of

With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people
who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006).
Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language
that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the
number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished
for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make
English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children
to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were
raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia
of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own.
If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. Some say that they
were to write 100 times so they won t speak it again or get hit on their knuckles with a stick (paulet in
Cajun French). This leads to Cajun French to fade away. It was not till 1968 when CODOFIL (Council
for the Development of French in Louisiana) that was made to bring French back in the schools

Essay on Scotland and England
While many people in England believe that the Scottish are beneficial to their union. The Scottish
people believe that their way of life and culture is at risk of becoming an English one, and for the
reason, many Scots want independence. This is a good thing because it will be the first time in a very
long time that the Scottish people will have a voice of their own, and choose their own fate as a
nation.
First off, we will start with how and why Scotland joined with the English to form the United
Kingdom, and the Darien Venture and why it put Scotland in near collapse and total economic
devastation. Second, we will discuss why both sides agreed to the Acts of Union 1706 1707. Third, we

So, Scotland had to fund the project by itself, the Scottish crown accumulated a massive sum of gold,
one fifth of the
entire wealth of Scotland, put it all aboard a ship and sent off a troupe of two thousand and five
hundred Scotsmen who eventually landed on the shores of Panama just over one hundred days. They
then named the new Scottish colony New Caledonia and immediately discovered some very large
problems with their plan: First off, on the western side of Panama, the mountains were a lot larger than
expected, making overland trade completely impossible. Even if they built a canal, the technology to
do so was still hundreds of years away. Second, the Scottish goods made of wool brought to trade with
the locals was absolutely useless in the perpetual heat and humidity of South America. Third, the
Spanish had already planted their flags on the beaches of Panama and many other parts of South
America, and they were not that grateful to see the Scots arrive. And finally, without necessary
supplies, diseases such as Dysentery spread quite quickly. Two full years persisted and with the cost of
two thousand dead Scotsmen, they eventually abandoned their project. However, this was not the first
failed attempt at Scottish empiricism early Scottish colonies have been tried and eventually abandoned
in Nova Scotia, New Jersey, and Carolina, but the ordeal with

Celie Vs Spielberg
The book and motion picture The Color Purple is a compelling story of a one Celie who finds her
womanhood and humanity with help from the other characters. From her abusive father and husband
to her loving friend Shrug Avery, a strong woman known for her voice, Celie takes a long journey into
personal freedom. Both Walker and Spielberg use
Celie s experiences to convey how her struggles allow her to come into her womanhood, however,
Walker tells the story through a darker and hopeless lens whereas Spielberg presents the pain through
a much less negative perspective.
Both Alice walker and Steven Spielberg portray Celie s struggles in detail, however, Spielberg fails to

Throughout this section of the scene Celie does display happiness through a smile and light laughter.
This sense of happiness does not carry over in the book. The book portrays a more, glass half empty
point of view, where Celie is more jealous of her husband s relationship with Shrug. When Mr. gets
home from meeting Shrug, Celie wants to ask a million questions about her but holds them all in
because Mr. would not want to answer them. She also shows her self consciousness in the book
because of Shrug. Although Celie looks up to
Shrug and idolises her in the book, she also knows that shrug is the woman which her husband wishes
he had married. This is very destroying to Celie s self confidence. Celie knows that the bar is set so
high for her that she will never be able to live up to the standards to which her husband expects. In
both the book and the movie, Celie helps
Shrug back to health. In the book Celie and Shrug come out of Shrugs sickness with a very strong
relationship and Celie uses Shrug as a way to become who she is as a person. In the movie, Celie and

1. The paradox that the creature sees in humankind is that humans can be glorified and worshipped at
one point but, can later fall and have a downfall. The capricious nature of humans is what surprises the
creature. This is shown when the creature is watching the De Laceys and the old man is reading a
book, Ruins of An Empire about the Greeks and Romans and in both of these empires they both had a
rise and then they both eventually fell. Also, he also learned how humans have many different sides to
them on one hand they can be good and caring but also, learned that they can be evil and vicious
towards one another.

The safety plan developed by protective services for a very young child typically depends on the
nonoffending mother as the major source of emotional nurturance and assumes the mother s ability to
respond to child sexual abuse. However, nonoffending mothers may suffer significant levels of
distress themselves following disclosure of their children s abuse (Deblinger, Hathaway, Lippman,

Personal Identity In Romeo And Juliet
In the play, Romeo and Juliet it s about the two lover s that go against their fate of two different
families that hate each other, but will soon end their relationship when Romeo and Juliet die together.
The horrible love story creates Romeo and Juliet s relationship of being loving and caring.
Shakespeare uses metaphors and symbolism to show personal identity through love. In the play by
William Shakespeare uses metaphors to show the personal identity of Romeo s character traits of
being loving and caring before Romeo meets Juliet. One quote that shows Shakespeare uses
metaphors to use personal identity before Romeo meets Juliet is when Romeo expresses his feelings of
having nobody to love by stating, Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs (1.1.189). This shows
how Romeo was affected when he lost his love, Rosaline. The quote relates to the central idea because
it shows how Romeo is always caring about the people he loves. It proves my thesis of personal
identity because he expresses his own feelings. Another quote that uses metaphors to use personal
identity before Romeo meets Juliet is when Romeo describes how love is important to him by stating,
The precious treasure of his eyesight lost (1.1.190). This quote shows that Romeo wants a pretty girl
to love and care for. The quote relates to the central idea because it shows how love is important to
Romeo. It proves my thesis of personal identity because Romeo s character traits will help him find
his true love later in the story. Shakespeare uses metaphors to build a personal identity before Romeo
meets Juliet. Shakespeare uses symbolism to show the personal identity of Juliet s character of
becoming independent and reserved. One quote that shows Shakespeare uses similes to use personal
identity before Juliet met Romeo is when the nurse describes Paris as a lady s man by stating As all
the world why, he s such a man of wax (1.3.77). This quote shows how Juliet is getting pressured by
her mom and nurse to marry Paris, but decides not to. This relates to the central idea of personal
identity because the nurse and her mother are pressuring Juliet to marry Paris but doesn t want to, this
shows how Juliet is really independent and reserved by making

Bruce Dawe The Homecoming Analysis
The concluding line in Bruce Dawe s The Homecoming , complements the respectful and, at times,
resentful tone the speaker adopts. Opening with a comparatively broad statement; they are bringing

the anonymity of the soldiers is also augmented, leaving the reader to again question who exactly they

Shrek Movie Analysis
Fairy tales don t always follow the same boring pattern; beautiful princess falls in love with her prince
charming and they live happily ever after. The movie Shrek, an ogre and beautiful princess fall in love,
though this beautiful princess has a secret; her secret is that by day a beautiful princess, and by night
an ugly ogre, at least in her eyes. Shrek thought she was beautiful as a human and as an ogre; this
hidden message is shown as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also in the movie, another implied
message is that people are prejudice to stereotypes. Though, once you truly know some one, it can be

assumed the other was not their type when in fact they are just alike.
Friendship is one of the most important things in life. This is also shown in Shrek between Donkey,
Shrek, and Fiona. Shrek and Donkey don t seem to get along at the beginning of the movie when
rescuing Princess Fiona from the dragons keep. After Shrek and Donkey save Princess Fiona, Shrek
overhears Princess Fiona and Donkey talking about her curse and how Princess Fiona thought she was

Donkey, and Princess Fiona all end up going their separate ways; Shrek ends up going back to his

Donkey tells Shrek that they are friends and that Shrek should treat him more like one. In the end,
Shrek and Fiona end up happily together because of Donkey.

The Downside of War in Kurt Vonnegut Jr. s Slaughter House Five
Many people view soldiers in war to have nothing more than a duty that they must perform; so they
see war as being outrageous or ridiculous. In the novel Slaughter House Five (1968),written by Kurt
Vonnegut Jr., Billy Pilgrim, who is a soldier in World War II, is captured and becomes a prisoner of
war. Billy is seen as the protagonist. He is moved to various prison camps until he finally ends up in
Dresden. Dresden is bombed and leads to the freedom of Billy Pilgrim. The novel is written in the

Kurt Vonnegut uses Billy Pilgrim as the anti hero of the novel to show the books anti war point of

An anti hero is the protagonist of a book that is the opposite of the hero. They are graceless and
sometimes stupid. Billy Pilgrim portrays is anti hero trait and the anti war point of view when
Vonnegut writes, He had been saving Billy s life for days (34). Vonnegut is telling how Roland Weary,
who hates Billy, has to save him over and over again because he is to stupid to save himself. Also, war
is seen as ridiculous because Weary who doesn t even like Billy risks his life to save him just because
of his duty to do so.
Specific parts of the book add to the anti warism that it contains. One of these parts is when Vonnegut
writes, Above all, he wanted to be avenged, so he said again and again the name of the person who
had killed him (79). This part of the novel is telling about the death of Roland Weary. He told
everyone that Billy was responsible for his death. The soldiers should have been fighting the

Analysis Of The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale
In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer began wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the
religious journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the
Canterbury Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all
the pilgrims meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer
intended for all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the
book and only got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the
most moral story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims
will pay for. Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and
The Wife of Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a
pardoner who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women
want in their relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale
demonstrate the value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their
storyteller s values. In The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills
their friend. While on the hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death
has not taken the man yet. The three brutes ask the man where to find Death, and he

How Does Cancer Affect People Over 50
In Home Health care Cancer in Those Over 50
Anybody can be diagnosed with cancer. Some people are even born with it. Most cancer, however,
afflicts those who are older. In fact, the National Institute on Aging notes that the chances of being
diagnosed with cancer increases dramatically after a person turns 50. The good news is that the early
detection of cancer and improved treatments have significantly increased the cancer survival rate.
Cancer is a scary word. What is actually means is that a normal cell in the body has become abnormal.
When these abnormal cells replicate, they often lump together and form masses we call tumors.
Sometimes, the cells travel to other parts of the body. This spreading is known as metastasis. Cancers

The risk of breast cancer goes up every year. Testing for cervical cancer is done with a pap smear and

only keep the teeth and gums healthy, but oral exams also detect mouth and throat cancer. Prostate

Evangelism Essay
EVAN 101 B23 LUO
Methods of Evangelism Paper
Part ONE Evangelistic Method #1
The Four Spiritual Laws is an intellectual method of evangelism, which, as it s title suggests, identifies
four spiritual laws that direct an individual s relationship with God. It was created by Dr. Bill Bright,
founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, in 1952. The four laws, as sited on CampusCrusade.com, are:
(1) God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. (2) Man is sinful and separated from God.
Therefore, he cannot know and experience God s love and plan for his life. (3) Jesus Christ is God s
only provision for man s sin. Through Him you can know and experience God s love and plan for your
life. (4) We must individually receive Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, this approach has disadvantages in that it omits the individual who is not in dire need.
Example, a rich, young entrepreneur who loves life and has minimal lack, may never come in contact
with the service based actions. This is critical in light of 2 Peter 3:9, which seems to communicate that
God is desirous for all humanity to come to Christ not merely those who are experiencing emotional,
financial, educational and physical lack.
Part THREE Evangelistic Method #3
The Way of the Master is a confrontational method of evangelism made popular by Evangelists Ray
Comfort and Kirk Cameron of Living Waters. The approach uses the good person test and asks are
you a good person? That question is followed up with a series of questions like, Have you ever told a
lie? Have you ever stolen anything? The questions correlate to the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2
16). After going over the examination using two or three questions according to the Ten
Commandments, the person being confronted is reminded of their responses (and the subsequent label
that comes with it) and asked whether or not God will find them guilty on the Day of Judgment and
whether they would go to Heaven or Hell. Most often, a brief presentation the Gospel message follows
with a sincere encouragement to repent and trust the Savior.
An advantage to using this message is that it first uses the Law of God (Ten Commandments) to
convince one of the needs

The Pros And Cons Of Contract Between Kishan And Balli
Introduction Kishan, a farmer, offered to sell the good quality barley to Balli, a horse trainer, who
accepted the said offer. But at the time of the delivery, Balli on getting intimated that the barley is new,
refused to accept the barley and told Kishan to take it back, stating that he thought that the barley was
old and since it is new, he will not take it. Kishan decided to sue Balli. We will see if Balli can revoke
the contract on the basis of mistake of fact and also, is the fact fundamentally different so as to affect
the contract. We will use the objective and subjective intention test for the parties. Issues 1) Is there a
valid contract between Kishan and Balli? 2) Can one revoke a contract at the time of the ... Show more

They negotiate the price and both the plaintiff and defendant agree with the cost of the barley to be
Rs.125 per kilo. According to Section 10 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, an enforceable contract is
formed between the plaintiff and the defendant. The defendant thought the barley was old when it was
not. Clearly, there is a mistake as to the quality of the goods contracted for. The barley is not
essentially different as to affect assent as seen in the case of Kennedy v. Panama Mail Co.Ltd and
therefore the contract cannot be pleaded void under section 20 of the Indian Contract Act,1872.
Whether the barley is new or old, it is totally irrelevant to the case. As per section 13 of the Indian
Contract Act, 1872, both the parties were in consensus ad idem because the deal was only about
selling and buying good quality barley and that was what the plaintiff had provided. And we will take
into account the objective test of intention and not the subjective test of intention as this is done in
order to avoid the evidential difficulties associated with an inquiry into the actual state of mind of a
party to the contract . But had the barley been of anything but of good quality, then there would have
been a breach of contract by the plaintiff but that was not the case. And as per the argument of the
plaintiff, there was no mention of old or new, before the forming of the contract by either of the parties
concerned. Thus, mistake as to the quality of the barley in terms of being new or old will not affect the
contract as seen in Smith v. Hughes. As contrary to what the defendant had said, the principle of
uberrimae fidei cannot be applied here as this is a contract for the sale of goods . The plaintiff was
under no duty to have told the defendant

The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to
captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film
and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and marriage
during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of the upper
class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the Regency Era.
Her most popular novel, Pride and Prejudice published in 1813 maintains the interest of its audiences
as it did almost two centuries earlier as evidenced by its frequent incarnations. In 1995, the British
Broadcasting Corporation produced a six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This adaptation offers an accurate representation of the story and characters which overall offers a
beautiful visual rich in semiotics for exploration. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion Translated:
Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age when naked
bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films rediscover a taste for
visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of their sensuality into
objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I believe is the reason
behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences, especially the younger viewers
today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny gestures in an attempt to decipher
what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if passion is nowhere expressed it means
that passion is concealed everywhere (50). Even if the times had changed and values have become
more progressive compared to that of Jane Austen time, viewers nevertheless enjoy the passion in her

Visual Effects Created By E.E. Cummings In His Poetry Essay
Visual Effects Created By E.E. Cummings In His Poetry
Edward Estlin Cummings, commonly referred to as E. E. Cummings, was born on October 14, 1894 in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a source of vast knowledge and was responsible for many creative
works other than his poetry, such as novels, plays, and paintings. He published his first book of poetry
Tulips and Chimneys in 1923. Many of his poems are known for the visual effects they create through
his unusual placement of words on the page, as well as, his lack of punctuation and capitalization. The
manner in which Cummings arranges the words of his poems creates an image in the reader s mind of
the topic he is discussing, such as a season or climbing stairs. His visual style also ... Show more

The reader also obtains a visual effect when reading Cummings in Just . In this poem, the main topic
is springtime and the various aspects of that season. Cummings creates the words mud luscious and
puddle wonderful to provide the reader with images of spring from a child s perspective. Adults would
view mud and puddles as a negative aspect of spring, resulting from the melting of snow and the
showers that usually occur at that time of the year. However, by creating these words, Cummings
brings the reader back to their own childhood when mud and puddles were wonderful aspects of
spring.
In this same poem, Cumming also uses spacing to create an image in the reader s mind. For example,
he writes:
lame balloonman whistles far and wee (Cummings 21 22.)
The fact that the word far is separated from the other words in the line creates an image that the
whistling is in the distance. Additionally, he joins the names eddieandbill and bettyandisbel. This
illustrates that there is a togetherness that is usually found in spring because it is a time when children
play outside with their friends. By joining the names, the poet captures the manner in which children,
who are excited, speak by running their words together and leaving out syllables. Spring is usually a
time when people s

Stand For The Value Of RE In The School Curriculum
For RE to be taught efficiently and sustainably it is important to spend some time thinking about Why
it s taught? And how it can be delivered? This is where NASACRE (The National Association

stand for the value of RE within the whole school curriculum by supporting RE (Nasacre.org.uk,

offering resources to help teachers knowledge and ability within teaching the subject itself. This
reinforces the effectiveness of the teaching as tools are given so this then questions the teacher s
ability. Whilst many primary schools isolate RE from the curriculum,

Analysis Of Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems
Diana Farinho ENG 385 5/8/2015 Love poems Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems, mainly
focus on lesbian lovers which is a different style of writing from typical love poetry that is usually
written by a man to a woman. The two poems that will be focused on are To His Coy Mistress written
by Andrew Marvell as well as There Is a Garden in Her Face by Thomas Campion. Rich s love poems
mainly focus on two women who work together against all odds using the strength of their love. They
also have a powerful love for one another which keeps their relationship close and deep. In contrast,
the poems that are written by the male poets seem as though they speak of their lover as being a
goddess or someone they worship rather than a partner. The attraction that the men have in these
poems for the women is mostly physical attraction. They look at women as beautiful, innocent, and
pure which is not realistically correct in most cases. Specifically in Marvell and Campion s poems it
seems like more of a fairy tale rather than a real love story in which Rich describes in her poems.
Another noticeable difference among these writers is that Rich spoke mainly of women she is close to
and had . Whereas Marvell and Campion described the women as simply beautiful and enchanting.
Equality is one of the big difference between these three writers. Rich writes about her lover as her
equal partner in contrast to Marvell s and Campion s poems where the female is looked up

Internal Tensions Of The Qing Dynasty Of China
The Qing dynasty of China, which began in 1644, was seen as very isolationist and wary of foreign
trade and imports. However, the Europeans were very interested in developing two way trade with
China. Europeans had to pay directly in silver for the porcelain, silk, spices, and tea they imported
from China. This was a significant stress on the European economy, which was already strained from
internal tensions.
In the early 1700 s the Portuguese introduced a new form of smoke able opium to China. The opium
was mixed with tobacco and became a new commodity in China. Opium trade was originally
dominated by the Dutch, but was soon taken over by the British due to British rule in India and the
foundation of the East India Company. The British

  • 2. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, And All The Scary Movie... There are many movies, books, and TV shows that make fun of evil. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of evil. Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things into something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with all these ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for good. The Simpsons has an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode where Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that is the way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian theodicy. Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons. Perhaps people didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over people. Maybe it is for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous TV shows and movies afore mentioned, mock evil. In Aladdin, there is a parrot named Iago. Iago is voiced by Gilbert Gottfried and appeared in the first film as the sidekick to the main antagonist Jafar, and later becomes one of the protagonists for the rest of the franchise s run. He even leaves Jafar, and goes on to try to cause chaos on his own while singing I m Looking out for Me. First, the fact one of the main antagonists is a small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Disadvantages Of The Montreal Protocol 3.0 ADVANTAGES OF MONTREAL PROTOCOL The Montreal Protocol was use to save our ozone layer that has become less thick and it was not good condition for us as human that was live in earth. So this protocol was proposed so that we can save and reduce the gas that affects our ozone layer that was protecting us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. This protocol was working when the scientist confirmed that the ozone layer was slowly to recover around 2050. There are many advantages that we get when Montreal Protocol was proposed by the government. Firstly, the Montreal Protocol can give dual benefit to the society or human. This is because the Montreal Protocol has given help to reduce global warming and at the same times protect the ozone layer. This was proven according to the research that was done by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. That research also shows that the effect of the ozone depleting substances will become worse if the scientist not discover about change of the thickness in ozone layer. If the Montreal Protocol can reduce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, synthetic pesticides present hazardous impacts far beyond their intended targets. As Montreal Protocol is restricting the use of ozone depleting substances, other initiative can be carried out in order to reduce the usage of synthetic pesticides, which is classical biological control. This is the practice of importing, and releasing for establishment, natural enemies to control an introduced pest. Classical biological control is long lasting and inexpensive. Other than the initial costs of collection, importation, and rearing, little expense is needed. When a natural enemy is successfully established it rarely requires additional input and it continues to kill the pest with no direct help from humans and at no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. ATVs Are a Rip Off Why are ATVs and UTVs so expensive? Do manufacturers really have to mark up the prices so much? How much profit do these workers really need? And is high markup really a good selling strategy for the long run? All of these questions are very frequently asked by many consumers of ATVs and UTVs. ATVs as well as UTVs are rugged utility vehicles meant for off road purposes such a hauling heavy loads or just plain old having fun. ATVs can seat up to two people, whereas UTVs can haul up to six people. For the limited use ATVs and UTVs have, they really should not cost as much as they do today. ATVs and UTVs don t have nearly any of the features cars do. For example, ATVs don t have radios, are relatively uncomfortable for the long trail rides, and don t have any protection to the elements. Also, most ATVs are limited to under 70 miles per hour because of the small engine size and heavy body usually over 500lbs. One ATV that is upgraded to the top of the line vehicle can cost well into the $20,000 s. In addition, ATVs only seat one person in general, and are at most half the size of even the smallest hybrid cars. Because of their size, they don t usually even have much room to put anything such as groceries or other goods. UTVs are somewhat of a different story, but still have limitations. The largest of the UTVs may be as big as a midsize car and seat 6 people, but it is still very cramped, and unless the buyer wants to hike the price up to around the $30,000s, these also ... With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006). Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own. If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. Some say that they were to write 100 times so they won t speak it again or get hit on their knuckles with a stick (paulet in Cajun French). This leads to Cajun French to fade away. It was not till 1968 when CODOFIL (Council for the Development of French in Louisiana) that was made to bring French back in the schools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Scotland and England While many people in England believe that the Scottish are beneficial to their union. The Scottish people believe that their way of life and culture is at risk of becoming an English one, and for the reason, many Scots want independence. This is a good thing because it will be the first time in a very long time that the Scottish people will have a voice of their own, and choose their own fate as a nation. First off, we will start with how and why Scotland joined with the English to form the United Kingdom, and the Darien Venture and why it put Scotland in near collapse and total economic devastation. Second, we will discuss why both sides agreed to the Acts of Union 1706 1707. Third, we will go over the English and Scottish perspectives of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, Scotland had to fund the project by itself, the Scottish crown accumulated a massive sum of gold, one fifth of the entire wealth of Scotland, put it all aboard a ship and sent off a troupe of two thousand and five hundred Scotsmen who eventually landed on the shores of Panama just over one hundred days. They then named the new Scottish colony New Caledonia and immediately discovered some very large problems with their plan: First off, on the western side of Panama, the mountains were a lot larger than expected, making overland trade completely impossible. Even if they built a canal, the technology to do so was still hundreds of years away. Second, the Scottish goods made of wool brought to trade with the locals was absolutely useless in the perpetual heat and humidity of South America. Third, the Spanish had already planted their flags on the beaches of Panama and many other parts of South America, and they were not that grateful to see the Scots arrive. And finally, without necessary supplies, diseases such as Dysentery spread quite quickly. Two full years persisted and with the cost of two thousand dead Scotsmen, they eventually abandoned their project. However, this was not the first failed attempt at Scottish empiricism early Scottish colonies have been tried and eventually abandoned in Nova Scotia, New Jersey, and Carolina, but the ordeal with ... From her abusive father and husband to her loving friend Shrug Avery, a strong woman known for her voice, Celie takes a long journey into personal freedom. Both Walker and Spielberg use Celie s experiences to convey how her struggles allow her to come into her womanhood, however, Walker tells the story through a darker and hopeless lens whereas Spielberg presents the pain through a much less negative perspective. Personal Identity In Romeo And Juliet In the play, Romeo and Juliet it s about the two lover s that go against their fate of two different families that hate each other, but will soon end their relationship when Romeo and Juliet die together. The horrible love story creates Romeo and Juliet s relationship of being loving and caring. Shakespeare uses metaphors and symbolism to show personal identity through love. In the play by William Shakespeare uses metaphors to show the personal identity of Romeo s character traits of being loving and caring before Romeo meets Juliet. One quote that shows Shakespeare uses metaphors to use personal identity before Romeo meets Juliet is when Romeo expresses his feelings of having nobody to love by stating, Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs (1.1.189). This shows how Romeo was affected when he lost his love, Rosaline. The quote relates to the central idea because it shows how Romeo is always caring about the people he loves. It proves my thesis of personal identity because he expresses his own feelings. Another quote that uses metaphors to use personal identity before Romeo meets Juliet is when Romeo describes how love is important to him by stating, The precious treasure of his eyesight lost (1.1.190). This quote shows that Romeo wants a pretty girl to love and care for. The quote relates to the central idea because it shows how love is important to Romeo. It proves my thesis of personal identity because Romeo s character traits will help him find his true love later in the story. Shakespeare uses metaphors to build a personal identity before Romeo meets Juliet. Shakespeare uses symbolism to show the personal identity of Juliet s character of becoming independent and reserved. One quote that shows Shakespeare uses similes to use personal identity before Juliet met Romeo is when the nurse describes Paris as a lady s man by stating As all the world why, he s such a man of wax (1.3.77). • 19. Analysis Of The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer began wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the religious journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the Canterbury Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all the pilgrims meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer intended for all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the book and only got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the most moral story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims will pay for. Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a pardoner who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women want in their relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale demonstrate the value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their storyteller s values. In The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills their friend. While on the hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death has not taken the man yet. The three brutes ask the man where to find Death, and he ... It was created by Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, in 1952. The four laws, as sited on CampusCrusade.com, are: (1) God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. (2) Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God s love and plan for his life. (3) Jesus Christ is God s only provision for man s sin. Further, this approach has disadvantages in that it omits the individual who is not in dire need. Example, a rich, young entrepreneur who loves life and has minimal lack, may never come in contact with the service based actions. This is critical in light of 2 Peter 3:9, which seems to communicate that God is desirous for all humanity to come to Christ not merely those who are experiencing emotional, financial, educational and physical lack. Part THREE Evangelistic Method #3 The Way of the Master is a confrontational method of evangelism made popular by Evangelists Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron of Living Waters. The approach uses the good person test and asks are you a good person? That question is followed up with a series of questions like, Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? The questions correlate to the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2 16). After going over the examination using two or three questions according to the Ten Commandments, the person being confronted is reminded of their responses (and the subsequent label that comes with it) and asked whether or not God will find them guilty on the Day of Judgment and whether they would go to Heaven or Hell. According to Section 10 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, an enforceable contract is formed between the plaintiff and the defendant. The defendant thought the barley was old when it was not. Clearly, there is a mistake as to the quality of the goods contracted for. The barley is not essentially different as to affect assent as seen in the case of Kennedy v. Panama Mail Co.Ltd and therefore the contract cannot be pleaded void under section 20 of the Indian Contract Act,1872. Whether the barley is new or old, it is totally irrelevant to the case. As per section 13 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, both the parties were in consensus ad idem because the deal was only about selling and buying good quality barley and that was what the plaintiff had provided. And we will take into account the objective test of intention and not the subjective test of intention as this is done in order to avoid the evidential difficulties associated with an inquiry into the actual state of mind of a party to the contract . But had the barley been of anything but of good quality, then there would have been a breach of contract by the plaintiff but that was not the case. And as per the argument of the plaintiff, there was no mention of old or new, before the forming of the contract by either of the parties concerned. Thus, mistake as to the quality of the barley in terms of being new or old will not affect the contract as seen in Smith v. Hughes. As contrary to what the defendant had said, the principle of uberrimae fidei cannot be applied here as this is a contract for the sale of goods . Adults would view mud and puddles as a negative aspect of spring, resulting from the melting of snow and the showers that usually occur at that time of the year. However, by creating these words, Cummings brings the reader back to their own childhood when mud and puddles were wonderful aspects of spring. In this same poem, Cumming also uses spacing to create an image in the reader s mind. For example, he writes: lame balloonman whistles far and wee (Cummings 21 22.) The fact that the word far is separated from the other words in the line creates an image that the whistling is in the distance. Additionally, he joins the names eddieandbill and bettyandisbel. This illustrates that there is a togetherness that is usually found in spring because it is a time when children play outside with their friends. By joining the names, the poet captures the manner in which children, who are excited, speak by running their words together and leaving out syllables. Spring is usually a time when people s ... Analysis Of Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems Diana Farinho ENG 385 5/8/2015 Love poems Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems, mainly focus on lesbian lovers which is a different style of writing from typical love poetry that is usually written by a man to a woman. The two poems that will be focused on are To His Coy Mistress written by Andrew Marvell as well as There Is a Garden in Her Face by Thomas Campion. Rich s love poems mainly focus on two women who work together against all odds using the strength of their love. They also have a powerful love for one another which keeps their relationship close and deep. In contrast, the poems that are written by the male poets seem as though they speak of their lover as being a goddess or someone they worship rather than a partner. The attraction that the men have in these poems for the women is mostly physical attraction. They look at women as beautiful, innocent, and pure which is not realistically correct in most cases. Specifically in Marvell and Campion s poems it seems like more of a fairy tale rather than a real love story in which Rich describes in her poems. Another noticeable difference among these writers is that Rich spoke mainly of women she is close to and had . Whereas Marvell and Campion described the women as simply beautiful and enchanting. Equality is one of the big difference between these three writers. Rich writes about her lover as her equal partner in contrast to Marvell s and Campion s poems where the female is looked up ...
