Diagnostic Personal Statement
My ambition is to follow a course which combines my two favorite subjects Biology and Physics. I
have always been attracted to the medical field because it combines human compassion with
knowledge and technology. I am interested in sonography because it allows me to have a direct
involvement with patients and it is an ever evolving field that promises to continue to grow and
expand. This allows me to achieve my career goal in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
Throughout my life, I have been a keen researcher. My passion in speaking began at high school,
where I took part in many inter state debate competitions. I was introduced to the field of diagnostic,
as coming from the hypertensive history family, I always try to get some knowledge out of the reports
and images; which sparked my interest in echocardiography. The idea of diagnostic imaging is
amazing because it gives a physician a different perspective on the human body. I am fascinated by the
technologies used to produce these images, but I must integrate my broad clinical knowledge to
transform images into a diagnose. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Becoming a phlebotomist after completing my high school was the first step I took to jump in the
healthcare field. Although, I practiced phlebotomy for a very short period of time as I moved to the
United States with my family after two months of completion of my phlebotomy certification. During
my work experience as a Phlebotomist, I learned how to communicate with patients showing them
empathy and generosity. During this time, I felt I improved my team working and communication
skills. Furthermore, I grew in confidence and self belief as I found that I had good positive
communication skills that helped patients in drawing out blood

Truman Examined Life
In the film, The truman show, Socrates states that The unexamined life is not worth living ; what
Socrates is trying to say is that if people do not question things, question life, and everyday things and
just go through life not questioning things and just going with what everybody says and not living life.
then it is not worth living. (Truman) was nothing real? (Christof) you were real. That s what made you
so good to watch. There is no more truth out there then there is in the world I created for you. The
same lies, the same deceit. But in my world, you have nothing to fear. Truman is now questioning the
people around him, questioning every day things, and is questioning life in general. Truman is now

for themselves.
Keywords: Windows, Linux, operating systems
Windows vs Linux in the Enterprise
The operating system is an extremely crucial type of system software. It is the backbone of a
computer. Without an operating system, our computers will not function properly. Operating systems
are highly skilled software that includes programs with an ample amount of information. This
information provided from these programs makes it easier for applications to communicate with the
hardware. Linux and Windows are two operating systems that dominate in our society today. They are
not only dominating in our society, but also in the business world. Windows and Linux are the two

What Were The Causes Of The Red River Rebellion In Canada
During the past years, The events known as the Red River rebellion occurred. The Red River rebellion
was caused when Canada gained a lot of land in Rupert s Land, this scared a lot of us as we feared for
our culture, and land rights under the control of the Canadiens. Because of this, we banded together to
create a provisional government to make terms for entering their colony. This created the province of
Manitoba, a new name for the same home.
In, 1812 Scottish settlers created our colony at the junction of two rivers. In, 1836 the population was
mostly French and English Métis and HBC owned our land.
The rebellion started in 1850 when the rule of the Hudson s bay company was threatened (under
attack) by the British, the Canadians, and the Americans. In 1860 they were readying to sell Rupert s
land and the Northwest to Canada, this included us. While Canada and the Hudson s Bay Company
were making a deal, the protestant s from the east (Canada) and their anger and violent ways caused
our roman catholic population to fear for their land rights, religion, and culture. Canada acted as if we

The Canadiens wanted to survey our farms near rivers (river lot farms). The lots followed the
seigneurial system that is present in New France, not the English way. Many of us did not have clear
rights to our land, and so we feared the loss of our farms. Our fears grew worse when the lieutenant
governor was appointed as William McDougall. Because, of this Louis Riel stepped in to save the day.
He gathered support and stopped McDougall and his team of surveyors from reaching our land. He

Since the volatility of floating rates causes costs for exports and imports. It also encourages
international capital flows which can profit the welfare of a country. Especially in case of developing
countries these capital flows can be very large. One big Problem of the exchange rate regimes is the
loss of monetary and fiscal possibilities to stabilize the economy as well as Limitation of the ability to
pursue domestic goals. There is a slight difference between a hard peg and a fixed exchange rate, since
the fix exchange rate can be with several countries whereas the hard peg only pegs it currency to one
foreign country. They have more or less the same ad and disadvantages, but with a fixed exchange
rate, which is pegged to more than one country, the pursuit of domestic goals is easier, since the
country does not depend on one foreign economy. One major weakness of the fixed exchange rate is,
that when devaluation becomes necessary through fundamental changes in economy. Even the
announcement of devaluation creates the danger of a crisis and eventually ends in a crisis, like the
case of Argentina shows. It is also likely that a currency crisis after devaluation can end up in a
banking crisis, since fixed exchange rates give incentives to take on debt. (see below for further
information) Floating exchange rates can be found for example in the arrangement of the U.S. with

The Garden of Eden
The Garden of Eden is a sacred place to many people. This is a place that may or not actually exist,
and if it is a real place it has not been confirmed. If the Garden of Eden was ever located it would be a
place worth visiting.
The Origins The origins of the Garden of Eden come from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament
of the Bible. The word Eden means delight in Hebrew probably derives from the Akkadian word
edinu. Edinu is believed to derive from the Sumerian term E.DIN which means plain or steppe. The
connection may be coincidental, although E.DIN is known to have been used by the Sumerians to

Paradise in Persian means royal garden or hunting park. And the Garden of Righteousness appears in
Jewish mythology and is said to have be beautiful and glorious in the beginning and it will be
beautiful and glorious in the end.
The Comparison
Creation myths across cultures have several obvious similarities and differences. There is substantial
importance in the larger ideas, such as gender, the role of the human beings, and the outcome of the
creation. I find it fascinating that many of the mythical stories from around the world have told a story
where a God floods the earth. I think the flood stories in each myth may be a link between them.
Creation myths concern our ancestors and gods of nature; the earth, the sky, the sun, the moon, and the
stars. They are supernatural explanations of human origin and they help explain what humans could
not explain to answers question about the creation of the earth and man that could be passed on for
generations. Our culture and history would not be the same without the mythical place that surround
the stories of our creation.
Conclusion
The stories of mythology in each different culture have a sacred meaning to the people of that culture.
Just as the stories have meanings so do the places the story surrounds. There are different types of
sacred destinations, some may be similar some could be completely different from one another.
Regardless of their differences they are joined by the elements

Aristotle s Influence On The History Of Psychology
Chapter One Objectives 1. Describe Aristotle s role in the history of psychology. Aristotle, a Greek
Philosopher, was born in 384 B.C.E. and was known to show an interest in living things. To find out
how plants and animals organs sustained life, he collected and dissected them. He deliberately
engaged on studying the reproduction of life to see how each generation and actions of living people
spoke, remembered, and learned. Aristotle defined the meaning of psyche as the essence of life.
Translated to mean life from the ancient Greek, but also almost shares the same meaning as breath.
The word logo means the study of. The famous Greek Philosopher believed that the word psyche
escaped from the last dying breath. Today, modern psychologists believe the same thoughts that
Aristotle believed long ago, and still study the same thoughts, feelings and actions. Plato, a man who
believed by just thinking about it, you could understand and achieve fully, trained Aristotle in
philosophy. Aristotle did not agree on Plato s belief, and soon came up with his own. He believed that
in order to understand, you must observe what is being studied by looking, listening or touching it.
Aristotle s method of studying is now the base of contemporary science. Modern scientists are now
engineering more efficient and precise ways of observing. In conclusion, Aristotle awoke the world
with the study of live, which grew to the study of modern science of phycology. 2. Identify the four

Digital Story Project Analysis
At the start of the project, I was a bit nervous and hesitant about how I would go about with the
project, considering I had no video editing/creating experience. I knew that the digital story project
was important and a great opportunity to reach out to others in the community. It was great be a part of
something that can make a difference. When Sara and I first met with Monica for the first time prior to
the real interview, it was a really nice conversation between all three of us. I felt that Monica was
meant to be our interviewee and that it was our mission to share her story. That first interaction with
Monica reminded me of both of my mother here in the U.S. and in Vietnam. It reminded me of how

First, I would make sure that the tape recorder worked properly and that I knew what all the buttons
were. Since it was my first time using a tape recorder, I know I shouldn t blame myself. Secondly, I
would make sure to create a list of questions that was more organized and similar to create a story.
Thirdly, I would make sure that Monica had all the knowledge and resources to communicate with us
and the ability to use her phone/email. This is because we learned that Monica didn t have a lot of
experience with technology and she didn t know how to exactly worked her email. Throughout the
project, we would learn that she had a friend that helped her send emails and so on. If I was given a do
over, I would figure out what was the most easiest way for Monica to re record and learn what her
strength and weakness were. I realized that it would ve been easier if the tape recorder worked the first
time we did the interview. Either way, the digital story project was an amazing experience for me and
it truly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I learned that everything is a learning process, and that I
should not be too hard on myself. Now that I have learned the basic of video editing, I am excited to
do more! (Thank you Professor Nguyen for making the learning process so exciting). In the end, I am
looking forward to work on future projects with Amy and to further help them with their goals in

Advantages Of Discount Brokers
The advent of discount brokers in the Indian market have revolutionized the way trading is done in
India.
Discount brokerages have heavily brought down the cost of trading. This has proven to be a boon to
the traders especially the intraday and the derivatives trades.
Discount brokerages like RKSV and Zerodha have already started hurting the broking industry. Full
service brokers had made a request to market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India
(SEBI) to impose a minimum slab on the brokerage being charged by discount brokers. This request
was declined, clearing the way for more aggressive competition.
These brokers rely entirely on the online trading platform and technology to keep costs down, while

Getting more profits
Put simply, we are out there to make money in the stock markets. When one goes through the contract
note of the regular brokers, there are huge costs spent on brokerages, taxes and duties. At a brokerage
of Rs.30 on per lot of Option one has to pay a brokerage of around Rs.150 for 5 lots. There are also
duties and taxes which increase it to Rs.200.When the same thing is done through a discount
brokerage the brokerage cost is Rs.20 and adding the taxes and duties it come to Rs.40. There is
saving of Rs.150. It directly adds more money to the profits.
2. No need to sacrifice the quality of the execution.
There is no difference between trading through a regular broker and a discount broker. There is still
the old facility of call and trade. There is the new facility of mobile trading and online trading.
3. More high frequency trades
The reduction of brokerage brings down the breakdown even. The intraday brokerage for discount
brokerage is 0.01% or Rs.20, whichever is lower. So, in small trades, when a trader buys at 100.01 and
sells at 100.05, he still makes profit. In large trades, the advantage is even more as the brokerage is
even less due to the Rs.20 cap. This reduction of breakeven point enables a trader to do more

Synopsis Of The Movie Newton Knight
During the intensity of the Civil War, Southern states in the Confederacy fought against the Union for
their traditions and beliefs. However, not all citizens of the Confederacy were willing to fight for the
South s right to maintain slavery. One man, Newton Knight of Mississippi, deserted the Confederate
army and even took up arms against the Confederacy. The movie covers Newton Knight s journey as
he and his allies gained control of Jones County in Mississippi and seceded from the South, effectively
rejecting the Confederacy in favor of the Union. The movie focuses on the events surrounding Knight

black people. Knight even married a slave named Rachel, which the movie correctly depicted. Even
after Rachel and Newton Knight were married, Knight s former wife, who was wife still lived with
them. Again, the movie diverts from the truth by showing Serena and Newton with only one child
when in reality they had nine; the movie does this in order to allow for a deeper romance between his

In Emily Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights, we are taken back to the nineteenth century by a man
named Lockwood. He is being told the story of his landlord, Heathcliff, and how he became the man
that he is and what he has been through. We learn that Heathcliff was adopted by Mr. Earnshaw on a
trip to Liverpool and was brought back to Wuthering Heights to his new family, a mother, a brother,
and a sister. Upon arrival he was not greeted with any respect and or love. The Earnshaw s had more

The first place in Wuthering Heights that we see Heathcliff has fallen victim to the nurture category in
nature vs. nurture is when Heathcliff is brought home to Wuthering Heights and is introduced to the
family in Chapter Four. When Nelly is describing Heathcliff on his arrival to Wuthering heights, she
describes him as a dirty, ragged, black haired child and when Nelly talks about Mrs. Earnshaw s
reaction she says that she was ready to fling it out of doors (37). They referred to this child as an it on
arrival. Throughout the page, Nelly still refers to Heathcliff as an it: Mr. Earnshaw told me to wash it,
and give it clean things, and let it sleep with the children (37). This had to have been degrading,
especially to a child who had lived on his own since he could remember and had no knowledge of any
family whatsoever. Mrs. Earnshaw even goes to take it a step further and refer to Heathcliff as a gypsy
brat and asks why Mr. Earnshaw would dare to bring home such a child when they had their own
bairns to feed and fend for (37). Growing up in this environment on a child, there would be no way
that the child would escape without also being as un nurturing of an individual as his family members.

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. The National Aeronautics and Space

Ruling Into The Experience Machine
When first asked about whether or not I would get in the experience machine, I was confused and torn
between the two choices. On one hand, I could plug into the machine and go through whatever
experience I wanted and simply live it out in the machine. This is extremely tempting due to the
absence of responsibility what person wouldn t want to go at least 2 years without having to worry
about any job, school, or other duties to stress them out? It is also tempting because of the opportunity
to be able to experience many things that probably would not be possible in the real world for the
common person (like me). Imagine being able to experience and have the memory of an exciting and
adventurous activity such as climbing Mt. Everest, without having to be in any actual danger or pay

way is not part of that plan. It also seems as if my life would be a waste if I spent even as little as 2
years in the machine. Instead of spending the 2 years meeting real new people or going through a real
experience, you would just sit in the machine getting experiences that are solely for your own pleasure
and have no actual meaning in the real

Now a days in a commercial industry like IT, developing a software at an optimized cost is very much

forms integral part of any software life cycle. Hence, selecting the right tool for test automation at the

Biography Of Mary Silliman s The Patriots And The Tories
The late eighteenth century had begun to evolve to a time of important change for both the Patriots
and the Tories. Each side had felt the fatigue but had known there would be light at the end of the
tunnel and a great example of this is Mary Silliman. During her husband s time in active duty she had
mourned for his presence but knew The cause is so important it becomes me at least to be silent (123).
Although Mary was a well respected woman throughout Connecticut, it was her job to lead her family
and push through change that was so destine to happen. Mary had watched her husband from her point
of view and done her best (175) to maintain many aspects of their former life before the revolution.
However, she could not deny the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Silliman had a job as the state s attorney of Connecticut that paid quite well. All of the hope of
having a free flowing normal life went out the window when Mr. Silliman had departed for his
military responsibilities. Mary had been left with the duties of maintaining the house on top of the
next meals for the remaining family members and slaves. Both Mary and Mr. Silliman were aware of
their situation during the war period and needed direction as to how to get out of the hole they were in.
Mr. Silliman raised the question What shall I do my love? My late expensive absence has cost me a
great deal of money. Should I again fall to enemy s hands it would hurt me irreparably almost (177).
He begins to look for advice from his knowledgeable wife about their problem of debt. He then
displays what had been the cause to why he had inherited the large sum of debt in the first place. On
top of that he gives a demonstration that if he were to captured again by the Tories and remain captive
for a similar amount of time the debt would reach a point of no return. With this being said it brings a
change of lifestyle for Mary as it had been her duty as a wife to support her husband. You can see that
Mr. Silliman respects Mary s input in order to help them get through this event that they were so

Identifying The Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed Culture
Identification of Enterobacter Aerogenes

Unknown #19
The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified the
unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic capabilities of
the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the health field as it may
lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as any upcoming diseases.
The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the
products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms.
The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose,
lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production
test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae
and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in
determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate,
then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However,
if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the
by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink.
The methyl red and Voges Proskauer tests

Comparison of How Spain, France, Britian, and America...
In this essay, I will compare and contrast how Spain, France, England, and America viewed and
interacted with Native peoples differently as they colonized North America. It is reported that roughly
three hundred and fifty thousand Native Americans called the area known today as Florida home,
when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed his fleet of ships on the coast in the early 1500 s. As we
have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by outsiders it was not a great day.
The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease, and extremely low child birth rates
took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the
encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the
crop fields and essentially making them the major labor force; constructing and designing the
buildings occupied by the Spanish. The oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th
century the Native people were declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the
Natives needed to educated in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could
be punished up to and including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida.
It was in fact, very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism.
However, once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they

Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing
In life, one must overcome their fears in order to achieve or successfully attain a certain goal in their
mind. The short story Through the Tunnel , by Doris Lessing tells us about how Jerry builds
confidence and maturity throughout the story, by overcoming his fear of going through the dark and
scary tunnel underneath the water. The author portrays the idea of overcoming one s fear to achieve a
goal through Jerry, who was once a childish and isolated character, had begun his risky adventure of
going through the tunnel to prove his worth to a group of boys and along the way discovers what he
truly wants. Over time he becomes more mature and in the end, gain self acceptance.
Initially, our first thoughts of Jerry at the beginning of the story, is that he acts immature and is
burdened within a circle of maternal protection. During the opening of the story, the author conveys
Jerry s relative childishness by labeling him as the boy . The author also uses the mother to
demonstrate his youth and how he is trapped in a circle of maternal protection which leads us to think
that he is lonely due to that reason. In this part, His mother walks in front of him, carrying a bright
white strap in one hand tells us that because the mother was walking in front of him, it gives us the
impression that the mother still thinks of him as a boy that needs to be protected from any potential
harm. We see more of Jerry s immaturity and how the burden of protection leads his actions as we go
through the story. During the part where Jerry sees the group of boys acting free spirited, we see that
he is overcome with desire to be with them, probably because he feels that because he is always in the
circle of protection making him feel lonely and isolated from everyone. At first, he is added into the
group and begins to have fun jumping from the cliff into the water with the other boys. Later on
however, he starts to act immature when he realizes he could not do the same thing the other boys
were doing. That was, underwater for a long time and going through the dark tunnel and he becomes
scared. In this passage, ... In a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! Look! and he

Bob Marley Essay
Thesis Statement: Bob Marley s life affected his writing and contributed to the development of his
poetry.
Bob Marley is without a doubt the greatest musician a third world country ever produced. Through
Rastafari ideas, he influenced many others with songs that touched the lives of millions with his
constant message of unity. His wisdom through experience helped him achieve a grand distinction
over other artists.
In the year 1944, Captain Norvol Marley, a middle aged white marine officer, married a young
Jamaican girl named Cedilla Booker. On February 6, 1945 at two thirty in the morning their son,

where the Wailing Wailers recorded the first song Simmer Down which did quite well in Jamaica. To
help with the recording of their songs the studio provided several talented Ska musicians. The Wailing
Wailers were consisting now of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny who were starting to become quite
popular locally. Their audiences rapidly grew and they recorded several more songs on the Coxsone
label, which included It Hurts To Be Alone and Rule the Roadie . Bob soon took on the role of the
leader, being the main songwriter.
The next day after his marriage Bob left for the United States to visit his mother who lived in
Delaware. While in North America he worked to better finance his music and soon returned home.
When Bob Marley returned the Wailing Wailers music evolved from Ska to Rock Steady. This
evolution conflicted with Coxsone who wanted a Sim band. So the new Wailing Wailers left Coxsone
to form and renamed themselves the Wailers.
Instead of looking around for a new label the Wailers decided to form their own which they called
Wail n Soul. They released a couple singles on their label such as Bend Down Low and Mellow Mood
before Wail n Soul folded the very same year. The ending of their label affected the band greatly; it
wasn t until they met Lee Perry that they got back on track. With the help of Lee

The Power Of Gaia As A Primordial God
Introduced as a primordial god, Gaia has a great power of creation and is an ancestor to all the gods
and goddesses in the Greek pantheon. To some Gaia may seem weaker than the rest of the gods and
goddesses, although Gaia is as powerful and intelligent as the rest. Gaia is the earth itself and without
her there would not be any land, mountains, rivers and oceans. All of the creation in the world come
from her. Gaia only seems weak as a result of the way Ouranos controls her and does not let her carry
out what she pleases. Behind the scenes Gaia is very cunning and wise, conspiring with her son
Cronus, so that Gaia will be freed from Ouranos. Gaia s wisdom attracts other gods and goddesses to
ask for her counsel, which truly shows how powerful she is.These aspects help portray as
fundamentally strong instead of being weak. In the beginning there were only the primordial deities
and Gaia was one of them. She was the reason the world was created and also responsible for creating
all the other entities that came after her. Being responsible for all the creation in the world shows her
true prowess and that Gaia is fundamentally powerful; with ambrosial voice they celebrate in song
first the revered race of gods from the beginning, whom Earth and wide Sky begot. And those born
from them, the gods, givers of good; and second of Zeus, the father of gods and men, (Theog. 43 7).

The Interpretation of Aboriginal Dreams
Introduction:
Typically to understand a foreign culture s ontology, ethnographers and anthropologist examine
aspects of the selected group s life such as researching into their methods of communication, religious
values, if any, and their orientation within the world. An alternative and more modern way of learning
ontological views of a culture is by taking a more interdisciplinary approach and looking towards
analyzing not just how they view aspects of the world but why. There is a cross between fields of
psychology and philosophy when anthropologists begin to analyze aboriginal conceptions of
Dreamings as a way to shed light onto their epistemology. Many studies have been done to signify the
importance of these Dreamings in the cultural shaping of their world. However, because emphasis is
focused on the distinction and differences between Aboriginal and Non indigenous models of dreams,
these two ideologies are often binary. After learning about the concept of Dreaming in philosophical,
psychological, and ethnographic terms through the course of 10 weeks I want to propose that
Aboriginal Dreamings are not so distance from the basis of non indigenous formation models of
dreams.
There is a large emphasis of the distinctions between Aboriginal Australians concept of the Dream
Time or Dreamings and the (Western) formulation of Dreams. This connection has caused interest
because of the similarities between names. Patrick Wolfe accredits the term Dreamings to come from

To Kill A Mockingbird Social Hierarchy Essay
Pecking order is defined as a hierarchy within a social group or community, in which those members
at the top assume positions of authority. The expression was also used for an economic theory that
explains capital structure. It came from a report on the behavior among chickens, which establish
dominance by pecking each other. Although humans do not use the same tactics to prove their power,
there are several factors play a part in one s social class, such as social interaction, education, and
occupation. The communities we live in are shaped by the social hierarchy. This is apparent in the
stories we tell, such as books like To Kill a Mockingbird, A Raisin in the Sun, and the documentary
American Denial.

Critique Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Critique of Fiction Novel
The Help was published in 2005 by Kathryn Stockett. It was her first novel and it takes place around
1962 in Jackson, Mississippi where Stockett grew up. Stockett takes inspiration from the segregation
she witnessed in her hometown and the African American maid Demetrie, with whom she grew up
with, to write a passionate yet controversial novel in which she depicts the struggle between whites
and blacks along with the emotional struggle that the main characters endure throughout the novel.
The Help has been widely renowned yet disputable as Stockett uses the different aspects of life in the
south that she grew up with to write a fictional yet realistic account of the segregation during the
period of the Civil Rights Movement.
The Help is told from the point of view of three characters: two African American women, Minny who
is a cook, and Aibleen who is a maid and a white woman named Eugenia Skeeter Phelan. Stockett
uses the three characters in first person narrative to depict not only the differences in the lives between
whites and black, but also how their lives were intertwined in the sense that they end up helping one
another even though the time period was one of separation and segregation. As the novel progresses,
Skeeter, an aspiring writer, wants to write an exposition about the lives of Aibleen and Minny and
other African American maids living in the south and the porous conditions that they endure in their
daily lives. This is the main

Reiki Essay
At first glance, Reiki might seem like an off handed metaphysical idea, but it has been proven to aid in
a multitude of health issues, including fertility. What is Reiki? It is a special form of energy
manipulation said to date back to the 1800 s. Practitioners claim that it was used by Christ himself,
and this was how he could heal people with only the laying on of his hands. The original inventor of
the art, Dr. Mikao Usui, traveled across the world to discover its ancient secrets, and then, he passed
these on to a friend who carried on the tradition after him. It works through the manipulation of a
person s life force through the chakras. Supposedly, if there are any holes or blockages in the shield of
energy surrounding the body then sickness will develop. The body has a line of chakras down its

person who feels that their own chakras are blocked, so if a woman is struggling to get pregnant, they
can perform a healing on themselves or hire a practitioner to do it for them. Because this special form
of healing reduces tension and anxiety, the body can relax and conceive much more easily. It is also
said to speed the efficiency of the reproductive organs, so they work as they should. Before conception
occurs, many women note their periods become regulated, they experience less pain, and their
emotional state improves significantly. Often, a woman can get pregnant within months of beginning
healing of their life force, but they choose to continue the healing treatments throughout the pregnancy

Depiction Of The Berlin Wall
The Depiction of the Berlin Wall and the Relation to its Historical Importance
The Berlin Wall, built in August of 1961, was a physical symbol of the division between East and
West Germany. After World War II, East Germany, also known as the German Democratic Republic,
constructed a wall that remained an indication of the divide of Germany for almost thirty years. The
purpose of this barrier was to separate democratic West Germany from communist East Germany.
During the Cold War, crossing this concrete wall was not an easy task, and it most likely led to
punishment and death.
The novel The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, written by John le Carré, illustrates the tasks of West
European spies during the Cold War. The Berlin Wall played a key role throughout the Cold War, thus
le Carré wrote about crossing the Wall in his book. The two parts from the novel that will be analyzed
contain descriptions of characters attempting to crossing the Wall. The novel begins with the death of
Karl Riemeck. Karl, a British spy, was trying to escape East Berlin and cross over into West Berlin
before being shot. The second event occurs toward the end of the novel. Alec Leamas and his love
interest, Liz, are both shot while trying to get over the Berlin Wall. These events represent how
dangerous crossing from the East to the West was back during the Cold War. The Berlin Wall can be
seen as a potent symbol in the novel The Spy Who Came in from the Cold because the depiction of the

Alliteration In Hard Rock Returns To Prison
Knight s experience in life lends a unique hand about his work that makes it worthwhile. His
experienced a lack of education, yet he rises to become a great poet. He was surrounded by dying in
the war, but drugs resurrected him. His hope died in 1960 when he received a prison sentence, but,
poetry brought him back to life. Even in his words about himself describing himself as poetic, the
author uses various techniques to bring Hard Rock Returns to Prison alive. One of the methods he
uses in writing is alliteration, by using the repetition of Hard Rock s name throughout the poem,
persuading the reader not to forget, about the mistreatment of a human being, almost to the point of
having to remember that Hard Rock was indeed a prisoner. Imagery was another device used in
Knight s writing. He uses the image of a stallion preparing to be let loose from a cage only to find the
stallion is already free. He uses the first person as the main speaker of the narrative as the other
prisoners who admired the hero/prisoner. As well as, jargon used by the black prisoners, for instance,
Hard Rock! Man, that s one crazy nigger. (p.261) Although Knight s mood in the piece is grim, he still
adds a humorous side to the poem, for example, The testing came, to see if Hard Rock was tame/A
hillbilly called him a black son of a bitch/And didn t lose his teeth, a screw who knew Hard
Rock/From before shook him down and barked in his face/And Hard Rock did nothing/ Just grinned

Planning And Implementing Curriculum Accommodation
Planning and implementing curriculum accommodation in content areas Many students with LD
experience trouble with reading abilities that are significantly below grade level. Consequently, the
high school text book in history and other social studies classes will represent a problem. If students

from the internet. For instance, websites that have many timelines and clear description of historical
events, newspapers can contain information that related to social studies topics to students lives and
communities, establish reading abilities, boost critical thinking skills and integrate concepts across
social studies topics.
These resources might explain topics, themes, and abstract ideas that are too hard to understand in the
textbooks (Steele, 2007). To make students with learning problems more successful, the teacher can
provide lesson about a particular book, discuss part of the textbook like glossary sections, appendixes,
chapters heading, maps questions,

I have always been attracted to the medical field because it combines human compassion with knowledge and technology. I am interested in sonography because it allows me to have a direct involvement with patients and it is an ever evolving field that promises to continue to grow and expand. This allows me to achieve my career goal in Diagnostic Ultrasound. Throughout my life, I have been a keen researcher. • 5. What Were The Causes Of The Red River Rebellion In Canada During the past years, The events known as the Red River rebellion occurred. The Red River rebellion was caused when Canada gained a lot of land in Rupert s Land, this scared a lot of us as we feared for our culture, and land rights under the control of the Canadiens. Because of this, we banded together to create a provisional government to make terms for entering their colony. This created the province of Manitoba, a new name for the same home. In, 1812 Scottish settlers created our colony at the junction of two rivers. In, 1836 the population was mostly French and English Métis and HBC owned our land. One big Problem of the exchange rate regimes is the loss of monetary and fiscal possibilities to stabilize the economy as well as Limitation of the ability to pursue domestic goals. There is a slight difference between a hard peg and a fixed exchange rate, since the fix exchange rate can be with several countries whereas the hard peg only pegs it currency to one foreign country. They have more or less the same ad and disadvantages, but with a fixed exchange rate, which is pegged to more than one country, the pursuit of domestic goals is easier, since the country does not depend on one foreign economy. • 24. Comparison of How Spain, France, Britian, and America... In this essay, I will compare and contrast how Spain, France, England, and America viewed and interacted with Native peoples differently as they colonized North America. It is reported that roughly three hundred and fifty thousand Native Americans called the area known today as Florida home, when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed his fleet of ships on the coast in the early 1500 s. As we have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by outsiders it was not a great day. The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease, and extremely low child birth rates took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the crop fields and essentially making them the major labor force; constructing and designing the buildings occupied by the Spanish. The oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th century the Native people were declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the Natives needed to educated in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could be punished up to and including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida. It was in fact, very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism. However, once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing In life, one must overcome their fears in order to achieve or successfully attain a certain goal in their mind. The short story Through the Tunnel , by Doris Lessing tells us about how Jerry builds confidence and maturity throughout the story, by overcoming his fear of going through the dark and scary tunnel underneath the water. The author portrays the idea of overcoming one s fear to achieve a goal through Jerry, who was once a childish and isolated character, had begun his risky adventure of going through the tunnel to prove his worth to a group of boys and along the way discovers what he truly wants. Over time he becomes more mature and in the end, gain self acceptance. Initially, our first thoughts of Jerry at the beginning of the story, is that he acts immature and is burdened within a circle of maternal protection. During the opening of the story, the author conveys Jerry s relative childishness by labeling him as the boy . The author also uses the mother to demonstrate his youth and how he is trapped in a circle of maternal protection which leads us to think that he is lonely due to that reason. In this part, His mother walks in front of him, carrying a bright white strap in one hand tells us that because the mother was walking in front of him, it gives us the impression that the mother still thinks of him as a boy that needs to be protected from any potential harm. We see more of Jerry s immaturity and how the burden of protection leads his actions as we go through the story. During the part where Jerry sees the group of boys acting free spirited, we see that he is overcome with desire to be with them, probably because he feels that because he is always in the circle of protection making him feel lonely and isolated from everyone. At first, he is added into the group and begins to have fun jumping from the cliff into the water with the other boys. Later on however, he starts to act immature when he realizes he could not do the same thing the other boys were doing. That was, underwater for a long time and going through the dark tunnel and he becomes scared. In this passage, ... In a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! The Wailing Wailers were consisting now of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny who were starting to become quite popular locally. Their audiences rapidly grew and they recorded several more songs on the Coxsone label, which included It Hurts To Be Alone and Rule the Roadie . Bob soon took on the role of the leader, being the main songwriter. The next day after his marriage Bob left for the United States to visit his mother who lived in Delaware. While in North America he worked to better finance his music and soon returned home. When Bob Marley returned the Wailing Wailers music evolved from Ska to Rock Steady. This evolution conflicted with Coxsone who wanted a Sim band. So the new Wailing Wailers left Coxsone to form and renamed themselves the Wailers. Instead of looking around for a new label the Wailers decided to form their own which they called Wail n Soul. • 28. The Power Of Gaia As A Primordial God Introduced as a primordial god, Gaia has a great power of creation and is an ancestor to all the gods and goddesses in the Greek pantheon. To some Gaia may seem weaker than the rest of the gods and goddesses, although Gaia is as powerful and intelligent as the rest. Gaia is the earth itself and without her there would not be any land, mountains, rivers and oceans. All of the creation in the world come from her. Gaia only seems weak as a result of the way Ouranos controls her and does not let her carry out what she pleases. Behind the scenes Gaia is very cunning and wise, conspiring with her son Cronus, so that Gaia will be freed from Ouranos. Gaia s wisdom attracts other gods and goddesses to ask for her counsel, which truly shows how powerful she is.These aspects help portray as fundamentally strong instead of being weak. In the beginning there were only the primordial deities and Gaia was one of them. She was the reason the world was created and also responsible for creating all the other entities that came after her. Being responsible for all the creation in the world shows her true prowess and that Gaia is fundamentally powerful; with ambrosial voice they celebrate in song first the revered race of gods from the beginning, whom Earth and wide Sky begot. And those born from them, the gods, givers of good; and second of Zeus, the father of gods and men, (Theog. 43 7). • 29. The Interpretation of Aboriginal Dreams Introduction: Typically to understand a foreign culture s ontology, ethnographers and anthropologist examine aspects of the selected group s life such as researching into their methods of communication, religious values, if any, and their orientation within the world. An alternative and more modern way of learning ontological views of a culture is by taking a more interdisciplinary approach and looking towards analyzing not just how they view aspects of the world but why. There is a cross between fields of psychology and philosophy when anthropologists begin to analyze aboriginal conceptions of Dreamings as a way to shed light onto their epistemology. Many studies have been done to signify the importance of these Dreamings in the cultural shaping of their world. However, because emphasis is focused on the distinction and differences between Aboriginal and Non indigenous models of dreams, these two ideologies are often binary. After learning about the concept of Dreaming in philosophical, psychological, and ethnographic terms through the course of 10 weeks I want to propose that Aboriginal Dreamings are not so distance from the basis of non indigenous formation models of dreams. There is a large emphasis of the distinctions between Aboriginal Australians concept of the Dream Time or Dreamings and the (Western) formulation of Dreams. • 32. Critique Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett Critique of Fiction Novel The Help was published in 2005 by Kathryn Stockett. It was her first novel and it takes place around 1962 in Jackson, Mississippi where Stockett grew up. Stockett takes inspiration from the segregation she witnessed in her hometown and the African American maid Demetrie, with whom she grew up with, to write a passionate yet controversial novel in which she depicts the struggle between whites and blacks along with the emotional struggle that the main characters endure throughout the novel. The Help has been widely renowned yet disputable as Stockett uses the different aspects of life in the south that she grew up with to write a fictional yet realistic account of the segregation during the period of the Civil Rights Movement. The Help is told from the point of view of three characters: two African American women, Minny who is a cook, and Aibleen who is a maid and a white woman named Eugenia Skeeter Phelan. Stockett uses the three characters in first person narrative to depict not only the differences in the lives between whites and black, but also how their lives were intertwined in the sense that they end up helping one another even though the time period was one of separation and segregation. As the novel progresses, Skeeter, an aspiring writer, wants to write an exposition about the lives of Aibleen and Minny and other African American maids living in the south and the porous conditions that they endure in their daily lives. Depiction Of The Berlin Wall The Depiction of the Berlin Wall and the Relation to its Historical Importance The Berlin Wall, built in August of 1961, was a physical symbol of the division between East and West Germany. After World War II, East Germany, also known as the German Democratic Republic, constructed a wall that remained an indication of the divide of Germany for almost thirty years. The purpose of this barrier was to separate democratic West Germany from communist East Germany. During the Cold War, crossing this concrete wall was not an easy task, and it most likely led to punishment and death. The novel The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, written by John le Carré, illustrates the tasks of West European spies during the Cold War. The Berlin Wall played a key role throughout the Cold War, thus le Carré wrote about crossing the Wall in his book. The two parts from the novel that will be analyzed contain descriptions of characters attempting to crossing the Wall. The novel begins with the death of Karl Riemeck. Karl, a British spy, was trying to escape East Berlin and cross over into West Berlin before being shot. The second event occurs toward the end of the novel. Alec Leamas and his love interest, Liz, are both shot while trying to get over the Berlin Wall. These events represent how dangerous crossing from the East to the West was back during the Cold War. • 39. Alliteration In Hard Rock Returns To Prison Knight s experience in life lends a unique hand about his work that makes it worthwhile. His experienced a lack of education, yet he rises to become a great poet. He was surrounded by dying in the war, but drugs resurrected him. His hope died in 1960 when he received a prison sentence, but, poetry brought him back to life. Even in his words about himself describing himself as poetic, the author uses various techniques to bring Hard Rock Returns to Prison alive. One of the methods he uses in writing is alliteration, by using the repetition of Hard Rock s name throughout the poem, persuading the reader not to forget, about the mistreatment of a human being, almost to the point of having to remember that Hard Rock was indeed a prisoner. Imagery was another device used in Knight s writing. He uses the image of a stallion preparing to be let loose from a cage only to find the stallion is already free. He uses the first person as the main speaker of the narrative as the other prisoners who admired the hero/prisoner. As well as, jargon used by the black prisoners, for instance, Hard Rock! Man, that s one crazy nigger. (p.261) Although Knight s mood in the piece is grim, he still adds a humorous side to the poem, for example, The testing came, to see if Hard Rock was tame/A hillbilly called him a black son of a bitch/And didn t lose his teeth, a screw who knew Hard Rock/From before shook him down and barked in his face/And Hard Rock did nothing/ Just grinned and looked ...
