some difficulty in breathing in a supine position. Extraoral examination revealed no palpable nodes.
The patient had no symptoms of any tempromandibular joint discomfort or masticatory muscle pain.
Examination of the tempromandibular joints revealed no clicking, pain or crepitus at rest or in

Comparison Of Jacques Cartier Vs. Samuel De Champlain
Jacques Cartier VS Samuel De Champlain
Jacques Cartier was a determined, intelligent, and patient explorer of France who was born on
December 1, 1491. Cartier was best known for being the first European to describe and map the Gulf
of Saint Lawrence and the shores of the Saint Lawrence River. He proudly named his rightful
discoveries, The country of Canada s. Samuel De Champlain was a whole hearted, strong, intelligent,
patriotic french navigator. Born August 13, 1574. Champlain founded New France and Quebec City
on July 3, 1608, many referred to Champlain as, The father of New France. The pondering question
that must be answered is; who is the better explorer, and more importantly who was the better leader?

On the contrary, Cartier was determined and believe in himself that he could make it through this
journey without dieing and hoping to find a new path too gold and spices. Although in the end Cartier
did not find a new path too gold and spices, he sailed many new parts of north america like Gaspè in
which he met an Iroquois chief and made many valuable trades with this chief. Cartier also raised a 9
foot cross in the honor of his king while he was in Gaspè. These two pieces of evidence prove that
Cartier was a determined explorer. In the end of his magnificent years of sailing Cartier was a very
determined explorer who knew he could get anything done.
Cartier was a intelligent leader which led him too successful journeys and explorations, he had to
make many tough decisions like how many people should be on his crew, but lucky he was an
intelligent person a made these decisions correctly. Cartier showed intelligence because on each
voyage he went on he increasingly brought more crewmen. This proves that Cartier was intelligent,
because by Cartier s third voyage he managed to get a crew of 5 ships which was a total of
approximately 120 130 men. Gathering this many crewmen who were pretty much risking their lives
to be on this voyage, was a very hard task. When Cartier was gathering his crew, he was intelligent in
trying to recruit people that he new would come on his voyage.

Analysis Of Network Concepts For A Small Accounting Firm
This paper presents an executive summary of network concepts for a small accounting firm. This
paper also discusses the vulnerabilities of the proposed system as well as the devices, services and
over all requirements to make it operational. Furthermore, the specifications of the network security as
well as the procedures that will take place are also expounded in this paper. The purpose of the giving
specific details is to give the firm and users a clear picture of how the system will be implemented.
This paper will also determine the feasibility of the system and its expected benefits for the firm.

Users, Data Theft, Ethics
I. Introduction
Network breaches pose a serious threat to all companies especially to those who are primarily engaged
in managing finances of their customers. This vulnerable industry includes accounting firms, small
and big alike. In fact, the biggest security breach in 2014 reported by Target Corporation (an American
retailing company operating in Minnesota and the second largest discount retailer next to Walmart)
includes 40 million credit and debit card number of customers which were stolen during the holiday
season [1]. This proves that hackers are majorly concerned with obtaining the financial information of
clients in order to acquire money. Thus, accounting firms are indeed susceptible to network security
breaches which is the reason why a well tested

The Effects Of Legalization Of Drugs On The Economy
The legalization of drugs is a very controversial social topic for discussion, one that has taken the
media by storm over the last couple of years. Everyone has opinion on this topic and they range from
very pro to very anti. As legalization slowly becomes a reality and is seen around the world, questions
begin to emerge of the effects that this legalization will have on crime, society, and the economy. With
the emergence of the legalization of drugs there have been positive and negative effects happening
nationally and globally, as this trend continues it will be sure to change and shape society in many
different ways.
In the past two years we have seen national changes with the implementation of legalized marijuana

Marijuana that is sold for non medical use requires a regular sales tax, additional state and excise
taxes, and possibly an additional local tax (Durkin, 2014). In Colorado, they raked in over $11.3
million in tax revenue from the sales of marijuana in the first 4 months of legalization (Durkin, 2014).
The state will have huge benefits from the tax revenue collected and once they have reached $40
million they have plans to use the money for public school construction (Durkin, 2014). With the
legalization of marijuana in Colorado and attempting to meet the demand, new business ventures have
emerged leading to more jobs (Durkin, 2014). Legalization would require some costs to regulate
however, the cost currently to regulate tobacco and alcohol are far less than what is being spent to
enforce the control on illegal drugs (Caulkins et al., 2014). Marijuana accounts for a large part of drug
arrests and a large amount of money goes toward those arrests leading legalization to have a
significant savings (Caulkins et al., 2014). Illicit drug market brings in a staggering $500 billion a
year, one of the top five largest industries worldwide (Jenner,

Home Can Be A Country
The definition of home is a subjective topic that I will only be able to touch the rim of for the word
goes far beyond what is written. Home can be a lot of different things. Home can mean a whole lot of
things to a whole lot of people. It can be the place the you grew. It can be the place where you sleep at
night. Home can be here and there. Home can quite frankly be anywhere. Home can be a structured
place with a roof and a bed. Home can be a place you just stepped into or in can be a place you have
lived your entire life. Home can be a country, a state, a city, or a street address. Home can be a person
or group of people, and your home consists of wherever they are. Home can simply be your family. It
can be where you are most comfortable or at peace. It can be where your heart longs to be or where it
in the literal since is at. Home can be many different things. So, what is the definition of home?
The definition of home is first taught to us in early childhood as the idea of it being a house,
apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household. However, in
early childhood we would just simply say home is my house and the two words were used
interchangeably. When you type into the Google search bar, home, Google immediately asks below,
where s home? It has a slot to type in your address. To Google, home is the location of your house in
which you live. However, in my belief home is not as simple as that. Home is a concept of where

Racism By Joe R. Feagin Summary
The article is about racism. It is written by Joe R. Feagin. The main idea of this article is the
discrimination that white people have showed over black people on the past. A few surveys have been
made to study and analyze the opinions on both sides of the problem. What do white people think and
what do black people think. Most white people commented that black people are not being
discriminated in any way now and even when in comes to job hunting and training; white people feel
that black people have an advantage over them. It also talks about how some white people have the
definition of racism wrong. Some think that racism is KKK; racism is burning black people on the
streets and carrying a white cross. However, racism is more than that, a single look can be ... Show

Racism is aimed at the abolition or reduction of the rights of those discriminated against. Racial
discrimination is the term used to cover racism and identifies with, although they are two different
concepts. Racism is an ideology based on the superiority of races or ethnic groups over others; while
racial discrimination is an act, although usually based on a racist ideology, not always is, for occasions
when this discrimination is intended to combat racism they occur.
Attitudes, values and racist systems establish a hierarchy between ethnic or racial groups, used to
justify the privileges or advantages, which the dominant group enjoys.
Although racism has not been eradicated, the ideology on which it is based has been subjected to a
radical critique in the second half of the twentieth century. Science has rejected the concept of race
highlighting its subjective, based on damages.
Anthropologists, biologists, geneticists and sociologists have shown that the notion of race was

Analysis Of The Myth Of Robber Barons
Throughout American industrialization, large industries were run by some of the richest men in
history. These men got the nickname robber barons due to their creation of large monopolies by
making questionable business and government activities, and by taking advantage of their workers to
succeed. But in The Myth of the Robber Barons by Burton W. Folsom, he argues against these claims,
and he takes a deeper look into some of America s richest and most successful men. By specifically
looking at Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, James J. Hill, the Scranton family and many
more, Folsom believed that these so called robber barons were actually entrepreneurs with a drive to
succeed, leading to an improvement in American lives.

The government also enacted the Hepburn Act, which made shipping internationally difficult on the
railroad. Despite the fact that government grants led to incompetent railroads, the Interstate Commerce
Commission and Hepburn Act were put into place, which made it so Hill could not offer rate discounts
on exports traveling on the Great Northern en route to the Orient which was helping improve the
economy with increased trade. Hill and other market entrepreneurs were not corrupt or unfair when
choosing to not have subsides, but rather the political entrepreneurs were corrupt and insolvent. Also,
Folsom argues that John D. Rockefeller was negatively impacted by government intervention. The
Sherman Act was intended to prevent monopolies and those companies in restraint of trade . Yet
Standard Oil had no monopoly and certainly was not restraining trade . Rockefeller s goal was not to
create a monopoly but in order to keep his business succeeding he needed directors in each state. By
enacting the Sherman Act, Rockefeller s company struggled, due to competition rising. These laws
essentially stopped the growth of successful businesses, such as Hill and Rockefeller, who became so
successful due to no government intervention.
Many saw robber barons as deceitful, but this is actually not the case. Within The Myth of Robber
Barons,

There are different ypes of organstions with different purposes and different scales, first of there are
public sector companies, public sector companies are owned by the government rather then

The Blizzard Inc.
When it comes to gamers there is not one who does not know who Activision Blizzard Inc. is. Even
those who do not play any video games tend to know that blizzard commands a legion of followers, I
know that throughout high school I logged ridiculous hours into their game Diablo II which was a top
selling game of the time. In gaming the Blizzard Company has created more top ranked games
bringing in more money than most people can truly fathom. When all is said and done what is the true
value of such a company, how much money do they control in our economy? Who is it that can rival
such a behemoth of a company? Within these few pages I will try to encompass the mass of this
company, what it is that drives them and to what extent their influence travels within our world and
perhaps beyond. Although Blizzard was created in 1991 it was not public, it was not until September,
30 1993 that it was made a publically traded company. Upon its first day of trading it commanded a
price of only eighty three cents per share. Today it has a price of over thirty five dollars per share with
a record high price of $38.71 just a week ago. Considering the price it started at this is a remarkable
feat, this company started small and has weathered some of the worst economic storms we have seen
in our history. Though we have recovered a great deal since the housing market collapse, as a whole
the market recently has been going down across all boards I believe as a result of the oil prices

Essay on The Easter Uprising of 1916
The Easter Uprising of 1916
The Easter Uprising of 1916 was an event that happened at the tail end of a long list of events that
would forever change Ireland. The Uprising or Rising, as some call it, took place mostly in Dublin but
was felt throughout Ireland. The point was to gain independence from Great Britain who had ruled
Ireland for the past couple hundred years. At the turn of the 19th century England believed that Ireland
had too much independence and made the Act of Union. The result was the Act of Union of 1801: the
Irish parliament voted itself out of existence and England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were formally
politically unified for the first time (Hegarty 2). Around the time of the First World War, Ireland began

This modest promise was swept away the Easter Uprising of 1916, when a small band of rebels
paralyzed the city and the Irish Republic was proclaimed from the steps of the GPO (Hegarty).
Padhraic Pearse led about 2000 people into the Easter Revolution, only a small fraction of the people
that had lived in Dublin at the time. Most of the Irish were involved in World War I. They had little
support many Irish volunteers had joined the war effort and the rebels were perceived to be traitors to
the great cause (Hegarty). It would take more violence and rebellion against the British to bring
attention to their cause both locally and abroad.
The Easter Rising led to the arrests of approximately 3500 people. Although more than half were
released after they were questioned; many received unfair trials or no trial at all. When the news broke
to the Irish public about the treatment of the rebels, they also found out that there were 15 fifteen
secret executions, of the leaders of the Uprising. The tables began to turn away from the War to the aid
of the rebels as the truth came out. The seven signatories of the proclamation of independence (

Analysis Of Doing Wrong To Make It Right By Erdrich And Enger
Doing Wrong to Make It Right
Erdrich and Enger address the matter of vigilante justice in many places within their individual novels,
nevertheless Erdrich suggests that Joe had no other option but to take down Linden Lark on his own,
whereas Enger proposes Davy Land could have used other resources to get justice for his family from
Israel Finch and Tommy Basca. In Both Peace Like a River and The Round House the authors suggest
law enforcement, family bond and protection, intolerance, and freedom all explain why Davy Land
and Joe Coutts along with Cappy would feel compelled to kill the antagonists in these stories.

Assimilation Diffusion Multiculturalism

Assimilation, diffusion and multiculturalism are terms that are often applied to shape our culture.
These terms have positive and also negative impacts on our life. Assimilation is the process happens
where members of a minority group begin to lose their own ideas and take on the cultural
characteristics of the majority. It can be applied on a small and large scale. Cultural assimilation
occurs when a person immigrates into another country and drops his or her own culture to learn new

for adults as well as children entertainment. Indeed, there is an existing need for entertainment of this
kind. Therefore, an opportunity exists in the European market that Euro Disney could have taken

Symbolism Used in James Joyce s Dubliners

Symbolism
Symbolism is a powerful tool used by people every day to force people to look past the obvious and
find the deeper meaning. Symbolism is used by authors, musicians, priests, and many others. James
Joyce, a well known Irish author, uses symbolism repeatedly throughout his collection of short stories
published in 1916. In these stories, titled Dubliners, Joyce uses symbolism not only to enhance the
stories, but to also show the hidden, underlying message of each story without coming out and saying
it directly. Joyce s stories are centered on the problems of Dublin and through his use of symbolism
Joyce is able to focus attention on what problem each story is addressing. James ... Show more content

From the opening sentence Joyce gives his readers and idea of what to expect from his stories.
Examining the term gives a deeper meaning that enhances the story. At the boy s home, The wild
garden behind the house contained a central apple tree and a...rusty bicycle pump (21). The apple tree
symbolizes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, self deception followed by self knowledge. The
bicycle pump symbolizes the kid s pumped up, full of hot air, fascination with the girl and then being
deflated. The apple tree and bicycle pump are clues to the outcome of the story. The boy also
discovers three important and symbolic books in his house. The Abbot is about the worship of a
special lady, The Devout Communicant is about worship and The Memoirs of Vidocq is a detective
story that usually ends with the truth being revealed. All three stories are hinting at what will happen
to the boy at the end of the story. The boy goes to Araby, a market of goods from all over the world, to
buy the girl a gift in order to prove his love to her, but when he finally gets there the market s closing
in ten minutes. The boy heard a voice call from one end of the gallery that the light was out (27).
Joyce frequently uses light to symbolize an epiphany or realization. In this case, the boy realizes the
girl does not really have feelings for him as he had convinced himself to believe. The light provides
the reader with the moment the boy

Spanish Colonization Of North America
Spanish Colonization of North America In 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the New
World, Spain had discovered its next easy conquest. With North America added to its territory Spain
had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain
quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used
its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to
convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior
military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating
native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were
poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded
encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the
convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The Spanish Monarchy governed North
America using viceroyalties and audencias, royal mediation courts. The church also played a part in

and California was under control of Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit missionaries with the goal of

Difference Between Peanut Butter And Jelly Essay
For starters, I decided to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich placed on a napkin. The materials
that I needed were peanut butter, grape jelly, bread, a butter knife, and a napkin. I placed the materials
in front of me then sat on my dominant hand as instructed. The first thing I had to do was open up the
napkin and then get 2 slices of bread. I think this was fairly easy since I didn t have to do anything
major. The next step was to apply the peanut butter on one slice of bread and grape jelly on the other
slice of bread. I found this the most difficult part for many reasons. One, my hands are small so it was
hard to wrap my hand around the peanut butter lid. Secondly, I could not get a good grip on the lid of

swipe it on the bread but the peanut butter was not creamy instead it had a thick texture. So I tried to
grip the knife between my thumb and pointing finger while using my other fingers to hold down the
bread. However, that didn t go too well since I ended up ripping the bread in half. Evenutally, I gave
up and moved on to the grape jelly. It was fairly easy to open up the lid and pour the jelly on to the
bread. However, by the time I finished I had lost my appetite so I gave the sandwich to my mom who
added bananas to it. Then I had to clean up my mess and that didn t go too well. I had the hardest time
getting the twist thing back on the bread bag. Then I had to make multiple trips to the kitchen to place
everything back in their correct spot since I could only use one

A Retrieved Reformation By O Henry Summary
The short story A Retrieved Reformation, written by O. Henry, takes place mostly in Elmore,
Arkansas. It starts off focusing on Jimmy Valentine, convicted felon, as he gets out of jail and decides
to get back into his old habit of safe cracking. However, when he arrives into the town where the bank
he s targeted lies, he falls in love with Annabel Adams, the banker s daughter. He became a new man,
by the name of Ralph D.Spencer, and then they got married and started a family. Unfortunately, in the
end of the story, he transformed back into Jimmy to save his daughter from dying. This story is an
example of how loving and caring for others brings out the best in people. When elite safecracker
Jimmy Valentine arrived in Elmore, he had nobody in his life worth staying in one place for. He had
never met someone to fall in love with, until he saw, ironically, the banker s daughter. A young lady
crossed the street, passed him at the corner and entered a door over which was the sign, The Elmore
Bank. Jimmy Valentine looked into her eyes, forgot what he was, and became another man. Jimmy
was in love at first sight, and he was so excited because now there is someone in his life worth
sticking around for. He doesn t have to run away anymore. He changed because he didn t want to live
on the run, he wanted to be able to stay with the person he loved.
Another detail that proves Jimmy was changed by his love for Annabel is the metaphoric scene that
shows him change into a

The Lightning Thief By Rick Riordan
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is fiction, specifically fantasy, adventure, and humor. In the
beginning of the story, Percy Jackson, a twelve year old boy, is taken to Camp Half Blood, a safe
haven for children of the Greek gods and goddesses like himself, and then, it is soon revealed that
Percy is the forbidden son of the sea god, Poseidon. Later, the camp s counselor and centaur, Chiron,
explains to Percy that Zeus suspects that Poseidon had Percy steal his master bolt during the meeting
of the Winter Solstice, which Poseidon argues that Hades has it to backstab them both, and in order to
prevent any war between the Greek gods and goddesses, Percy is assigned a quest alongside Grover
and Annabeth to retrieve Zeus s bolt from Hades in Los Angeles and return it to Zeus as a peace
offering by the Summer Solstice or by ten days. The morning after, the three travel from New York
City to Denver surviving attacks by the Furies, Medusa, Echidna, and Chimera, and fortunately, with
the help of Ares, the war god, they hitch a ride to Las Vegas in an animal transport service along with
receiving a backpack filled with clothes and money. When there is only one day until the quest ends
after Percy, Annabeth, and Grover overstayed their break in a time delaying casino, they race into
DOA Studios, the entrance to the Underworld, to confront Hades about the master bolt, which results
in Hades s outrage of being excused, claiming that Percy not only stolen Zeus s master bolt, but

What I Learned In A Bilingual Class
It really is a gift to be able to write and to discover the endless possibilities that come with being able
to write. One of the biggest privileges that I have, in this case writing, started at a really young age in
the city of Dallas,TX. I believe I was around 6 years old at the time and in the first grade of
elementary school. While in Dallas, I lived with my mom and grandpa and attended the same school
that my mom taught at. I had started my first year of elementary as well as my first year in a bilingual
class where I was taught to read and write in both english and spanish, and it wasn t because I didn t
know how to speak english, but because both of my parents wanted me to later on be able to read and
write both english and spanish fluently. Fast Forward 4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hilley I wasn t able to give my full potential since the system was too slow for me or in other words,
too easy. A couple of months later, my mom received a phone talk from Harmony Science Academy
where they told her that I had been accepted through the lottery system. As soon as I entered Harmony
everything changed, from work, homework, expectations, rules, but most importantly their teaching
system. Harmony felt just right for me since I was more than able to give my full potential as well as
my best behavior. As the years passed, I would gain more knowledge as well as readiness towards
attending college. During the time that I ve been in Harmony, I have had the great privilege of meeting
great and experienced teachers that have helped and influenced the development of my writing as well
as my writing skills. Every single english teacher that I ve had in Harmony has definitely left a print in
my writing thanks to their knowledge and their literacy experience. Besides having excellent teachers
influence my writing, I was lucky enough to have my parents influence my writing as well. Now, here
is where it gets interesting, after returning to El Paso, I no longer took bilingual

Globe Theater Research Paper
The Globe Theater s beautiful building design and interesting former times have been a very notable
element of our past, it had even held many of Shakespeare s famous plays. The whole world is a
playhouse and one of the most important playhouses in the world would have to be The Globe Theater
. It is nearly impossible to think of our world without The Globe Theater and all the interesting
occurrences that have happened involving it. This theater could have been nothing more than a
building if it were for all the important history that was incorporated into it making it be such an
important piece of history. Between 1597 and 1599, The Globe Theater was built and it officially

Jumping Genes
DNA is not only significant because it transfers hereditary information from generation to generation,
but the discovery of DNA and genetics has helped diagnose diseases and formulate treatments
customized to a person s specific biochemistry and genetic makeup. This experiment focused on the
Alu insertion on chromosome 16, also known as one of the jumping genes in the human genome. Yet,
Alu is technically not a gene and therefore, it has no effect on the organism s fitness. Although Alu
does not encode for any protein, it does appear to be stable over evolutionary time once inserted at a
specific chromosomal location (Batzer et al., 1994). This jumping gene can indicate the relationships
between human populations since not all chromosomes carry the Alu allele at a specific locus. ...

With this knowledge, a better analysis of population relationships can be achieved. In addition,
amplification of a specific Alu insertion with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can be used to study
not only human migrational patterns, but also genetic mapping and genetic disorders (Novick et al.,
1993). There are many different applications this jumping gene has on the research associated with
DNA. However, the purpose of this experiment was to analyze the frequency of the Alu allele for the
entire class population and determine whether the class was in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium, which
would suggest that the allele frequency does not change over time. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
was used to amplify the Alu allele after the DNA was isolated, then gel electrophoresis was used to

Use Of Literary Devices Throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Use of Literary Devices throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Ray Bradbury s personal life encounters and his use of universal literary devices throughout The Veldt
accentuate his frequent themes involving fear and harmful innovation. Bradbury s life experiences,
such as living during World War II, also played a major roll in his fearful theme decisions and sadistic
writing style. Bradbury incorporates multiple literary techniques into The Veldt including: metaphors,
foreshadowing, irony, imagery, personification, a simplistic writing style, allusions, and symbolism. In
The Veldt , he commonly uses metaphors, comparing how one item is like another, to foreshadow or
create an eerie tone. Bradbury also leaves out details of ranging importance to make his writing more
personable; this allows the readers to feel involved in the story. Bradbury directs a majority of his
attention on getting his point across using a simplistic writing style rather than bewildering his readers
with complex vocabulary and a perplexing structure. The Veldt alludes to multiple positively
correlated topics; this is a contrast to the dark themes of the story and slightly adds an additional
realistic sentiment to the story. This reaction subconsciously causes readers to become more attentive
to the disturbing atmosphere the writing is centered around. His use of symbolism contributes to the
tone of sinister tendencies in the The Veldt . Additionally, his use of personification and imagery

Percy s Essay A River Pilot Looks At The Mississippi
Walker Percy s The Loss of a Creature details his idea of what he calls the preformed complex: biases
that people form as a result of experiences created by experts. Experiences such as a tour of the Grand
Canyon, reading a sonnet in a college poetry class, or the dissection of a dogfish in biology class are
all packaged and shaped by experts, according to Percy. Experts do this for sightseers so that they can
better understand experiences the way experts want them to. In Mark Twain s essay A River Pilot
Looks at the Mississippi he examines the perception of the Mississippi from the perspective of the
passengers of the steamboat and the pilots of them. Percy s experts and sightseers seem to be very
similar to Twain s pilots and passengers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Percy, sightseers aim to compare real life experiences with other s experiences that have
influenced their preformed complex. Percy claims that when a sightseer says Why it is every bit as
beautiful as a picture postcard! He feels he has not been cheated (Percy, 47). The sightseers aim to
receive some sort of confirmation that they were not cheated by the experience. The pilots on the river
have a preformed complex about what the significance of each element of the river should be which
causes them to lose sight of the beauty the elements hold. River pilots could feel cheated by the river
if it did not provide any indication of what the conditions were as then the river did not fulfill its duty
to the river pilots. The nature of this relationship is very transactional for both the pilots and the
sightseers: they look for it to be worth some sort of currency and in their case the currency is time.
The time they give to the experience should be well used for somethings that is up to their
expectations. These expectations differ between the pilot and sightseer as the pilot expects information
whereas the sightseer expects a comparison. This relationship is key to both parties understanding and
interpretation of the

Communism In The Film Atomic Cafe
Apart from the fear and paranoia towards the Communist camp, Americans were also shocked by the
news of Communist spies and espionages within their own backyard. This not only led to increased
surveillance in the US but the environment also became rather hostile and surveillance was very high.
When the Soviet s obtained their own nuclear bombs, the threat of the nuclear bomb and the
advancement of Communism itself became blur. In the film Atomic Café, archival footage of U.S.
Senator Owen Brewster reveals him saying that the Russians obtained the atom bomb, not through
independent research, but from America, from traitors within our own ranks, referring specifically to
alleged Communists. This instigated a new sense of fear and paranoia

Essay On Puritan Theology
Puritan Theology
Puritans always had very strict beliefs.Among these beliefs the puritans thought sin should not be
expressed and a sinner should be shamed, hell is the single most terrifying thing so they instilled fear
to get people to convert, and they are the city on a hill so they should lead by example and be the best.
In the sermons Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, A Model of Christian Charity, and a Sermon
Preached by Samson Occom the authors talk about some of these puritan beliefs.
Puritans thought of themselves as the elect . The elect is a group of people who were predestined to be
saved by God. John Winthrop knows that the puritans believe that and plays it to his advantage. He

He directly states the eyes of all people are upon us. Thus giving the puritans validation. He say this to
win the over and get them to see his side by telling something they already believe. He used the
puritan theology to prove his point. Another major aspect of puritan theology is the fear they instilled
into the public. They always made hell seem so atrocious (as they should have). They did this to get
people to convert to their religion. Edwards plays with idea, almost like Winthrop did, to establish fear
to get the puritans to confess and be saved. One quote that really stood out was,
The wrath of God burns against them; their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared; the fire is
made ready; the furnace is now hot; ready to receive them; the flames do now rage and glow. The
glittering sword is whet and held over them, and the pit hath opened her mouth under them. The devil
stands ready to fall upon them, and seize them as his own (Edwards

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight Analysis
Reading for education and reading for leisure is something that people tend to differentiate between in
their heads. If asked what book is considered their favorite, most people tend to not answer with a
book read for educational purposes and instead answer with a book chosen by themselves, read in
their free time. As a picky book lover, it tends to be difficult to find a book that I truly enjoy within the
aspects of academics. However, this does not make it impossible. Recently, I have discovered a book
that while it was read for the purpose of academics, I have come to find myself enjoying during my
leisure time. The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, by Sherman Alexie, was the first
educational book of my sophomore year in college ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the symbolism used by Alexie are subtle enough that the readers may have to read between
the lines, but each symbol used represents a bigger issues within the Indian Reservations. The first use
of symbolism that I noticed as I read this collection, can be found within the title The Lone Ranger
and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. The Lone Ranger , I believe, refers to a Western television show that
used stereotypes in order to portray Native Americans. More often than not, children want to be the
cowboys when engaging in the game Cowboys and Indians , because it is always portrayed on
television as being the winning side in any conflict that occurs between the two groups of people. A
story that demonstrates a usage of typical Native American stereotypes is Crazy Horse Dreams , in
which a woman is looking for the perfect Crazy Horse Indian to sleep with so that she may connect to
her beloved Indian roots. However, due to the stereotypes she let herself believe she never really finds
this type of Indian and instead settles for Victor who at one point tells her, in reference to wanting to
connect to her Indian roots, that You re nothing important... You re just another goddamned Indian like
me (pg. 41). As the stories progress we see the usage of stereotypes via the Indians and the shows they
watch on television such as The Brady Bunch , and the lack of interest the Native Americans have in
conforming to the Western

Gruesome allegations swarming against black men in the mid twentieth century has created a sense of
fear concerning blacks from the white community. White people have always had an idealistic
stereotype on how they have viewed the African American race. In the case of the Scottsboro Boys
and the events in Native Son by Richard Wright, it is evident that there are many things to be cautious
of as a young black man in America. Richard Wright s novel Native Son is a fictional text which he
uses to convey character development, themes, and an explanation for why things occurred. Wright
touches greatly on the way history repeats itself and it shows the unjust actions of the law toward
people of color which relates to the Scottsboro Boys Case. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the things going on in America during present day it is clear that every event in history comes
around full circle and repeats itself. It caught my attention as a reader of Native Son, when Bigger
kills Mary and he reacts in a way that fear only strikes him because he is a young black man and she
was white. A young black man s biggest fear has always been to be accused of a crime against a white
person because laws were made in favor of the white race. There were many times where the author of
the text Richard Wright distinguished the differences between white crime and black crime in the
judicial system. He was a murderer, a Negro murderer, a black murderer. He had killed a white woman
3. During this time laws were made solely in favor of white america and capitalists. Nine years before
the publication of Native Son the trial of The Scottsboro Boys took place which caused great
controversy across the United States. Although the actions of Bigger were different from The
Scottsboro Boys, the cases were similar in the way that Bigger was an automatic suspect due to his
race in the eyes of the detective

How to Be Successful at Composting Essay example
How to Be Successful at Composting
As an avid gardener and as someone who is conscientious of my environment, I purchased a compost
bin several years ago. I have an abundance of yard and lawn clippings that I am not willing to dump
into our already stressed landfills. In turn, my efforts for composting benefit me greatly because I can
use this finished material to improve my soil texture, the soil s ability to hold water, and as a fertilizer.
Composting is a biological process for converting organic solid wastes into a stable humus like
product. Within a compost pile, microorganisms attack organic substance, breaking it down and
producing rich organic matter (Golueke,13). For this to occur, several things need to take place, two of
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be done a number of ways. Most county agriculture departments will supply you with a soil
test kit or with a phone number to obtain a kit. There is also pH paper on the market along with a more
elaborate method known as compost extraction (Trautman).
When taking a measurement of the pH, it is important that several readings are taken because your
compost is unlikely to be homogenous. It may contain anything from sawdust and grass, to lettuce and
coffee grounds. If your pH reading is between 6 and 7.5, most plants will do well in this type of soil. If
the pH is 6 or below, the soil is probably too acidic and you will need to add lime to the compost, such
as ground chalk or a limey clay (Sines,27). This solution can be said to contain more H+ ions than OH
#8209; ions. Many plants such as azaleas, hydrangeas and blueberries love this type of soil. If the soil
has a pH above 6, it is too alkaline and contains more OH #8209; ions than H+ ions. You will need to
add brown material such as pine needles or sawdust to counter act this condition (Golueke,83).
Carbon and Nitrogen (C/N) ratio is also an important element in composting. The ratio is used to give
an indication of the speed at which organic residues in the soil are likely to be decomposing. Carbon
can be considered the food, providing an energy source and a cellular building block. Some sources of
carbon are leaves, cornstalks and twigs. Nitrogen can be considered

Language Essay In English
Language is the way humans communicate with eachother. Most of us use it verbally, many use it in
writing and other use sign language in order to communicate. Language is part of almost everything
amongst us, we read it or hear it on a daily basis. If we are driving we read signs on the road, when we
buy stuff we read labels and we could not read without knowing the language, and when we speak we
also use language. But language does not stand alone, linguistics is a huge part of it. In my opinion,
linguistics is by far one of the most intriguing subjects and classes I have ever taken before. I believe
it is a subject everyone seems to be familiar with, yet not really aware of how and why we know the
gist of it. Linguistics is the scientific study of human language and its structure, we study language
because it teaches us how to communicate with others. Language is everywhere and part of our
everyday lives, we use language to communicate with everyone around us. For many communication
is vital as part of our jobs and for others it is a form of expression. Language is something that can
make us feel wonderful and happy, if someone compliments you, it makes you feel good, but it is also
something that can be used to hurt and make people cry, it is a powerful tool humans have. Language
whether it be verbal or not has meaning and we must know the basics in order to communicate
effectively. In linguistics we learn about the different perspective of language and the different

Why Race And Ethnicity Have An Effect On Political...
People hate to be isolated. Sadly, people are the ones who actually initiates isolation. In some way, we
are harming each other. World is becoming a very horrible place; intelligent people are shunned,
education is shot, ignorance is rewarded and police are corrupt. We can t live with each other when a
race is isolated. A person who is different in community by his or her skin color is classified as an
outcast. Outcasts have no right speak up. That is why I think race and ethnicity have an effect on
political participation. Although lately there are some improvements, that didn t have a big impact on
people.
Considering a variety of political acts, we find that, in the aggregate, African Americans are slightly,
and Latinos are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People do not care about what is right, they care about what is popular and the only way to get over
this pointless view; humanity should improve as in one group. Bottom line is that political
participation may seem approachable, but the people who have the guts to talk to millions should be
awarded not shunned just because they are different.
Political participation is valid; however, we still see many problems. For instance, voter identification
requirements have a substantially negative impact on the voting power of several voting groups.
People who belong to a group which is the minority, face with some problems. They are inhibited by
the majority to keep the constant rate of vote in order to reach to success. In other words, they are
excluded from the society. There may be people who are aware of this situation but for those who aren
t should know that Texas Republicans have a reason to stop minority voting. Ginsburg noted the
motive behind the tougher ID law, which is that the state s ruling class of mostly white Republicans is
less and less representative of the state s population as a whole. In light of the seismic demographic
shift in Texas between 2000 and 2010, making Texas a majority minority state, the District Court
observed that the Texas Legislature and Governor had an evident incentive to gain partisan advantage
by suppressing the votes of African Americans and Latinos. From this information another ugly side
of humanity can be seen.

This vulnerable industry includes accounting firms, small and big alike. In fact, the biggest security breach in 2014 reported by Target Corporation (an American retailing company operating in Minnesota and the second largest discount retailer next to Walmart) includes 40 million credit and debit card number of customers which were stolen during the holiday season [1]. The Effects Of Legalization Of Drugs On The Economy The legalization of drugs is a very controversial social topic for discussion, one that has taken the media by storm over the last couple of years. Everyone has opinion on this topic and they range from very pro to very anti. As legalization slowly becomes a reality and is seen around the world, questions begin to emerge of the effects that this legalization will have on crime, society, and the economy. With the emergence of the legalization of drugs there have been positive and negative effects happening nationally and globally, as this trend continues it will be sure to change and shape society in many different ways. In the past two years we have seen national changes with the implementation of legalized marijuana for non medical use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Colorado, they raked in over $11.3 million in tax revenue from the sales of marijuana in the first 4 months of legalization (Durkin, 2014). The state will have huge benefits from the tax revenue collected and once they have reached $40 million they have plans to use the money for public school construction (Durkin, 2014). With the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and attempting to meet the demand, new business ventures have emerged leading to more jobs (Durkin, 2014). Legalization would require some costs to regulate however, the cost currently to regulate tobacco and alcohol are far less than what is being spent to enforce the control on illegal drugs (Caulkins et al., 2014). Marijuana accounts for a large part of drug arrests and a large amount of money goes toward those arrests leading legalization to have a significant savings (Caulkins et al., 2014). It can be where your heart longs to be or where it in the literal since is at. Home can be many different things. So, what is the definition of home? The definition of home is first taught to us in early childhood as the idea of it being a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household. However, in early childhood we would just simply say home is my house and the two words were used interchangeably. When you type into the Google search bar, home, Google immediately asks below, where s home? It has a slot to type in your address. To Google, home is the location of your house in which you live. These men got the nickname robber barons due to their creation of large monopolies by making questionable business and government activities, and by taking advantage of their workers to succeed. But in The Myth of the Robber Barons by Burton W. Folsom, he argues against these claims, and he takes a deeper look into some of America s richest and most successful men. Hill and other market entrepreneurs were not corrupt or unfair when choosing to not have subsides, but rather the political entrepreneurs were corrupt and insolvent. Also, Folsom argues that John D. Rockefeller was negatively impacted by government intervention. The Sherman Act was intended to prevent monopolies and those companies in restraint of trade . Yet Standard Oil had no monopoly and certainly was not restraining trade . Rockefeller s goal was not to create a monopoly but in order to keep his business succeeding he needed directors in each state. By enacting the Sherman Act, Rockefeller s company struggled, due to competition rising. Even those who do not play any video games tend to know that blizzard commands a legion of followers, I know that throughout high school I logged ridiculous hours into their game Diablo II which was a top selling game of the time. In gaming the Blizzard Company has created more top ranked games bringing in more money than most people can truly fathom. When all is said and done what is the true value of such a company, how much money do they control in our economy? Who is it that can rival such a behemoth of a company? Within these few pages I will try to encompass the mass of this company, what it is that drives them and to what extent their influence travels within our world and perhaps beyond. Although Blizzard was created in 1991 it was not public, it was not until September, 30 1993 that it was made a publically traded company. Upon its first day of trading it commanded a price of only eighty three cents per share. Today it has a price of over thirty five dollars per share with a record high price of $38.71 just a week ago. Considering the price it started at this is a remarkable feat, this company started small and has weathered some of the worst economic storms we have seen in our history. Essay on The Easter Uprising of 1916 The Easter Uprising of 1916 The Easter Uprising of 1916 was an event that happened at the tail end of a long list of events that would forever change Ireland. The Uprising or Rising, as some call it, took place mostly in Dublin but was felt throughout Ireland. The point was to gain independence from Great Britain who had ruled Ireland for the past couple hundred years. At the turn of the 19th century England believed that Ireland had too much independence and made the Act of Union. The result was the Act of Union of 1801: the Irish parliament voted itself out of existence and England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were formally politically unified for the first time (Hegarty 2). This modest promise was swept away the Easter Uprising of 1916, when a small band of rebels paralyzed the city and the Irish Republic was proclaimed from the steps of the GPO (Hegarty). Padhraic Pearse led about 2000 people into the Easter Revolution, only a small fraction of the people that had lived in Dublin at the time. Most of the Irish were involved in World War I. They had little support many Irish volunteers had joined the war effort and the rebels were perceived to be traitors to the great cause (Hegarty). It would take more violence and rebellion against the British to bring attention to their cause both locally and abroad. The Easter Rising led to the arrests of approximately 3500 people. Although more than half were released after they were questioned; many received unfair trials or no trial at all. When the news broke to the Irish public about the treatment of the rebels, they also found out that there were 15 fifteen secret executions, of the leaders of the Uprising. The tables began to turn away from the War to the aid of the rebels as the truth came out. Williams Eng 241 26 February 2011 Symbolism Symbolism is a powerful tool used by people every day to force people to look past the obvious and find the deeper meaning. Symbolism is used by authors, musicians, priests, and many others. James Joyce, a well known Irish author, uses symbolism repeatedly throughout his collection of short stories published in 1916. In these stories, titled Dubliners, Joyce uses symbolism not only to enhance the stories, but to also show the hidden, underlying message of each story without coming out and saying it directly. The apple tree symbolizes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, self deception followed by self knowledge. The bicycle pump symbolizes the kid s pumped up, full of hot air, fascination with the girl and then being deflated. The apple tree and bicycle pump are clues to the outcome of the story. The boy also discovers three important and symbolic books in his house. The Abbot is about the worship of a special lady, The Devout Communicant is about worship and The Memoirs of Vidocq is a detective story that usually ends with the truth being revealed. All three stories are hinting at what will happen to the boy at the end of the story. The boy goes to Araby, a market of goods from all over the world, to buy the girl a gift in order to prove his love to her, but when he finally gets there the market s closing in ten minutes. The boy heard a voice call from one end of the gallery that the light was out (27). Joyce frequently uses light to symbolize an epiphany or realization. With North America added to its territory Spain had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The materials that I needed were peanut butter, grape jelly, bread, a butter knife, and a napkin. I placed the materials in front of me then sat on my dominant hand as instructed. The first thing I had to do was open up the napkin and then get 2 slices of bread. I think this was fairly easy since I didn t have to do anything major. The next step was to apply the peanut butter on one slice of bread and grape jelly on the other slice of bread. I found this the most difficult part for many reasons. It starts off focusing on Jimmy Valentine, convicted felon, as he gets out of jail and decides to get back into his old habit of safe cracking. However, when he arrives into the town where the bank he s targeted lies, he falls in love with Annabel Adams, the banker s daughter. He became a new man, by the name of Ralph D.Spencer, and then they got married and started a family. Unfortunately, in the end of the story, he transformed back into Jimmy to save his daughter from dying. This story is an example of how loving and caring for others brings out the best in people. When elite safecracker Jimmy Valentine arrived in Elmore, he had nobody in his life worth staying in one place for. He had never met someone to fall in love with, until he saw, ironically, the banker s daughter. A young lady crossed the street, passed him at the corner and entered a door over which was the sign, The Elmore Bank. Jimmy Valentine looked into her eyes, forgot what he was, and became another man. Jimmy was in love at first sight, and he was so excited because now there is someone in his life worth sticking around for. He doesn t have to run away anymore. Jumping Genes DNA is not only significant because it transfers hereditary information from generation to generation, but the discovery of DNA and genetics has helped diagnose diseases and formulate treatments customized to a person s specific biochemistry and genetic makeup. This experiment focused on the Alu insertion on chromosome 16, also known as one of the jumping genes in the human genome. Yet, Alu is technically not a gene and therefore, it has no effect on the organism s fitness. Although Alu does not encode for any protein, it does appear to be stable over evolutionary time once inserted at a specific chromosomal location (Batzer et al., 1994). Use Of Literary Devices Throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Use of Literary Devices throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Ray Bradbury s personal life encounters and his use of universal literary devices throughout The Veldt accentuate his frequent themes involving fear and harmful innovation. Bradbury s life experiences, such as living during World War II, also played a major roll in his fearful theme decisions and sadistic writing style. Bradbury incorporates multiple literary techniques into The Veldt including: metaphors, foreshadowing, irony, imagery, personification, a simplistic writing style, allusions, and symbolism. In The Veldt , he commonly uses metaphors, comparing how one item is like another, to foreshadow or create an eerie tone. Bradbury also leaves out details of ranging importance to make his writing more personable; this allows the readers to feel involved in the story. Bradbury directs a majority of his attention on getting his point across using a simplistic writing style rather than bewildering his readers with complex vocabulary and a perplexing structure. The Veldt alludes to multiple positively correlated topics; this is a contrast to the dark themes of the story and slightly adds an additional realistic sentiment to the story. When taking a measurement of the pH, it is important that several readings are taken because your compost is unlikely to be homogenous. It may contain anything from sawdust and grass, to lettuce and coffee grounds. If your pH reading is between 6 and 7.5, most plants will do well in this type of soil. If the pH is 6 or below, the soil is probably too acidic and you will need to add lime to the compost, such as ground chalk or a limey clay (Sines,27). This solution can be said to contain more H+ ions than OH #8209; ions. Many plants such as azaleas, hydrangeas and blueberries love this type of soil. If the soil has a pH above 6, it is too alkaline and contains more OH #8209; ions than H+ ions. You will need to add brown material such as pine needles or sawdust to counter act this condition (Golueke,83). Carbon and Nitrogen (C/N) ratio is also an important element in composting. The ratio is used to give an indication of the speed at which organic residues in the soil are likely to be decomposing.
