WEBINAR: How Leaders Successfully Support Lean Six Sigma Projects (Leadership)GoLeanSixSigma.com
Famed business author Peter Drucker said, “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results, not attributes.” And since Lean Six Sigma is about getting results, the role of the leader in successful process improvement is key. Without the proper support, teams struggle or fail. In order to build a robust culture of problem solvers, leaders must be clear on their part in the process. Tune in to this 1-hour leadership webinar for a quick, concentrated look at what it takes to be a great process improvement leader.
Libraries are continually developing new programs and services to meet the needs of their community. But designing for the future can be challenging. How do you identify where to make changes? How do you make changes without taking on too much risk? How do you measure and evaluate the success of new library programs and services?
This workshop is an interactive experience, guiding teams through a process to find solutions for real library challenges and problems. Participants work in teams and be guided through activities to identify innovative solutions, set goals, and manage risk. Activities will help participants develop design thinking skills and a growth mindset.
Participants walk away with basic principles of innovative design processes. Participants gain confidence and feel empowered to think about innovation and innovative ideas in their libraries. As a result, they will become better risk takers and be able to develop better solutions.

How to teach salespeople to always ask the right questionsSalesScripter
The best salesperson is the one that asks the best questions. But it can be extremely challenging to train your sales resources to what questions to ask at all the different times.
What often happens is learning through trial and error which can be extremely costly in terms of deals lost and long new hire ramp up time.
It does not need to be so difficult and we will show you this on our “How to Train Your Salespeople to Always Ask the Right Questions” webinar where we will:
– Show you a two-step qualifying process
– Outline both pre-qualifying questions and hard qualifying questions
– Closing questions
– Networking questions
– How to build question trees that have all of the best follow-up questions

Attend this webinar and you’ll learn:

Project Storyboard: Reducing Cycle Time for Bid Tab Creationby 33%GoLeanSixSigma.com
Think it's impossible to make a significant change in government? Well, it's not easy, but GoLeanSixSigmna.com Black Belt Pamela Kuehling made a real difference from the inside. She overturned countless "honest wrong beliefs" with facts and data by modeling the Lean Six Sigma approach in her work and won over the doubters.
Initially the overall procurement process was the focus, but when that proved to be too big, she scoped it down to a more manageable project that can now be the basis for an expanded improvement. Her improvement was meaningful, but a bigger victory was in bringing critical and logical thinking into an environment often impacted by less scientific influences!

SUCCESS STORY: Reducing Hiring Time From 10 Months to 36 DaysGoLeanSixSigma.com
Kent partnered with Cassandra to improve the Illinois Tollway’s hiring process that was 95% paper-based and would take over 10 months to fill a position. They were also facing a high turn-over rate, lack of technological assistance, and low applicant alignment to position needs. As it stood, the hiring process could use some help.
They started out by asking themselves two questions:
- What’s possible?
- What approach should we use to improve the hiring process?
In order to answer their first question, they needed to develop a better understanding of the current process. They chose to use DMAIC as their approach to improving the hiring process. They also thought it was important to identify the inhibitors of process change within the Illinois Tollway. Unfortunately, There were several: politics, policy, law, processes, technology, culture, and staff.
With their approach determined and inhibitors in mind, they set out to map their process.

He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

4. Three key Lean Six Sigma tools to build
engagement
8. Why Do We Need Others?
• Permission
• Acknowledgement
• Data
• Change
11. Buy-in vs. Ownership
• Buy-in: Asking for someone’s buy-in indicates that
you have an idea that you didn’t involve them in or
discuss with them but you want them to embrace it
anyway
• Ownership: Ownership is what people feel around an
idea or improvement or decision because they’ve
been part of the process of coming up with it on
some level, at some point
12. Typical Resistance
“This might uncover embarrassing
issues and then I’ll look bad.”
“This will make my
job harder.”
“This might
interfere with
productivity.”
“You’re not the
boss of me!”
“I really don’t see any
problems – why are
you doing this?”
“Change is
just…annoying.”
13.
14. Other Resisters?
• Question: What other
“types” of resistance have
you encountered?
• “Lost Your Email Larry”… Please share in the
“question” area!
17. Stakeholders
• Anyone with a vested interest in how a
process performs but not anyone or
group that receives the goods or services
of a process (that’s a customer)
• Typical Stakeholders:
• Process participants
• Management
• Suppliers
• HR, IT & other support services
