Disadvantages Of Unstructured Interview
Interviews are a part of our day to day lives, with interviews being conducted in every other social
interaction. According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview
is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or
expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference
between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative
research purposes (Stuckey, 2013).
According to Klenke (2016), qualitative interviewing provides a way of generating empirical data
about the social world of informants asking them to talk about their lives (p. 125). It is a purposeful
data collection method with a meaning making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design
(Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods
is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this
voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information
on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016).
Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used
data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and
unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended
questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and
unstructured interviewing methods. The semi structured interview can be administered either face to
face, through a questionnaire , via telephone or any other electronic method such as skype (McIntosh

Gathering And Sharing. The Appropriate Roles For Local
Gathering and Sharing
The appropriate roles for local and federal law enforcement agencies in a national strategy for
protecting the homeland is vigilance, intelligence gathering and sharing. When it came to the case of
the Orlando Shooter, Omar Mateen, the gun smith told the FBI about him after he purchased the
weapons and before he did the shooting. The law enforcement agencies need to take no warning or
threat lightly.
Intelligence gathering is very important in law enforcement. Intelligence gathering is a system in
through which information about a particular entity is collected for the benefit of another through the
use of more than one inter related source. The sharing of this information from agency to agency

Sharing is the key.
From what I understand, multiple agencies had information about the possibility of attacks, prior to
the attack on Pearl Harbor, and 9/11. Just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Army was providing
its information only to the State Department and the Navy was providing its information only to the
President (Clausen). Neither the Army nor the Navy shared its information with each other due to
friction and infighting and the entire system was in shambles (Clausen). The same situation was
present in 2001 with lack of sharing between the CIA and the FBI along with infighting (Wright). If
they all shared what they had with each other, the attacks may not have happened.
Local law enforcement roles should also include terrorism classes as well as training. Not only
discussing their role during an attack but also practicing. Community policing plays a good role in
prevention as well. Talking to the people of the community. The local police officer should show his
or her face to the people that they serve, even without making a service call. They should get to know
the people and the people should get to know them. They should then get a sense of who s who and
what s what. Local law enforcement should do training with homeland security and other branches of
law enforcement.

The Female Oppression Of Women In William Shakespeare
In Shakespeare s comedy, MoV, the female protagonists are not given the same opportunities men or
treated seriously and rather only given these opportunities or have their words taken seriously if they
act as men through cross dressing. From this portrayal, modern audiences can learn that oppression
was present in the past and still continues to affect women in today s world. Portia has to cross dress
in order to take on the role of a lawyer. She along with her maid in waiting, Nerissa That they shall
think we are accomplishèd/With that we lack (3.4.62 63)During the Shakespearean era, women were
not viewed as intelligent and lacked skills to have such roles. Going under the guise of a lawyer Portia
would be able hold a position that she would not be able to have if she was appeared as a woman.
Furthermore, this position also allows for her to have more power and gain respect from individuals in
her society. While under this persona, Shylock lauds a disguised Portia for her judgement, saying A
Daniel come to judgement! Yea, a Daniel./O wise young judge,how I do honor thee! (4.1.231 232) 1)
Shylock likens Portia to a wise and important biblical figure, Daniel, who made wise judgement. By
complimenting Portia, it goes to show that what a woman says is only deemed serious if not seen as a
woman saying it. When she returns to Belmont, Portia reads a letter out to Bassanio and Gratiano,
which contains the line, There you shall find that Portia was the doctor,/Nerissa there her

The Adolescent Stage Essay
The adolescent stage is one in which the human being develops from being a child into an adult, or
from puberty to legal adulthood. The stage consists of the transition in both the physical and the
psychological contexts ( Adolescence | Psychology Today , 2016). The transaction of the adolescent is
the relationship between the environments and the person (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). This interaction
influences the adolescents development as they are in the stage of their lives whereby the trying to
attain autonomy of their lives from their parents/ caregivers (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). To achieve
development to emerge into adulthood there are many identity statuses one must go through in order
to achieve a sucessful development (Waterman, 1999). These identity statuses are influenced by the
psychosocial enviornment of the person and these are represented in identity processes (Bosma
Kunnen, 2001). Identity processes are immeadiate processing of data that affects the identity and
actually holds the identity at stake (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). However they are the building blocks to
developmental processes which is the identity growth and change over the human life span (Bosma
Kunnen, 2001). In the adolescent stage development is influenced by many factors in transaction.
Looking at the whole context is important so that the identity development so that the analysis is
individually based. The development will take a specific course as it is influenced by determinants,

The Interlopers Conflict
The outcome of conflicts between characters vary due to the drive each character has. Each character s
drive is shown in how passionate they are about how they want something to end up. The more you
are driven to do something, the more likely that what you want will happen. However, if two people
have the same drive, the conflict will resolve itself in a different way. Conflicts arise in different ways
in each individual story, but most conflicts are introduced during the rising action in the literary piece.
This gives the author of the story time to get the readers wondering. As the rest of the story unfolds,
each reader uses inferences to predict how the conflict will be resolved. Each narrator s drive towards
the conflict is one way to predict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hatred and drive to kill the opposing person allows simple things such as communication to cease
and allows the drive to take the lead. These families hatred for one another influence the drive to kill.
The two families will not stop until the other one is dead. Therefore, each narrator has the drive to kill
the other one. Once the drive to kill is gone, their plans are altered. Ulrich states, Neighbour, if you
will help me bury the old quarrel, I will ask you to be my friend, (Saki 4). Each family has its own
drive, each family is willing to kill, one family breaks, both drives are destroyed. The one family that
breaks first is not willing to kill, destroying the other families will to fight. This is because if one
family does not want to fight, what is the point in fighting to the death? The original outcome does not
come true due to the fact that one narrator changed and started communicating. Once this narrator s
drive was known, the other narrator also communicated the lack of wanting to kill. With both narrator
s realizing that neither wanted to kill, their drives changed and the plan was foiled. The conflict could
resolve itself in a different way, though, if only one narrator has the drive to

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Mcmurphy Character Traits
McMurphy s trickster characterization in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
The main character of McMurphy is often portrayed as a trickster in Ken Kesey s novel One Flew
Over the Cuckoo s Nest. In the first part, Chief Bromden sets the scene of the mental hospital to the
readers as it occurs right after McMurphy has entered the room of the mental ward to join all of the
other men, They spy on each other. Sometimes one man says something about himself that he didn t
aim to let slip, and one of his buddies at the table where he said it yawns and gets up and sidles over to

In his mental institute no one has been allowed to leave and they are confined within the rigid walls of
their prison with Nurse Ratched being the authoritative person. McMurphy feels the fishing trip is
necessary as it allows the men and women to be prepared for the dangers of sea. This indirectly hints
that he wants to prepare them for the real world, in the middle of the sea where they have danger
lurking in all open corners and they had to fend for themselves. In part 4, the Big Nurse smiles and
talks about McMurphy, Crazy like a fox... I believe that is what you re trying to say about Mr.
McMurphy. This is during the scene in which all the individuals in the mental asylum gather together
and tell each other funny stories and that s when they ask what makes McMurphy tick. Nurse Ratched
then elaborates by stating that McMurphy isn t doing anything for anybody until he s getting
something out of it. Nurse Ratched then explains how much money his friends in the institute have
lost because of his gambling. In addition, he s able to go to the fishing trip without spending any
money. Thus, Nurse Ratched proves that McMurphy emobodies the characteristic of a trickster,

Technology has become increasingly globalized and is now a key utility that is both easily accessible
and convenient in daily life. With the added perpetual use of the Internet, many people blindly trust
their familiar devices and have little to no reluctance about exposing their personal information online.
What many fail to recognize is that tech companies such as Facebook and Google track their online

Compare And Contrast North American Colonialism
GKE Task 3 Linda Mckee
A.
Colonialism is a significant part of history especially in North America. North America was originally
colonized by Europeans in the 10th century by Norse sailors who colonized what are now parts of
Greenland and Canada, followed later by many European nations including; Great Britain, France, and
Spain. The most notorious and first of these Europeans was Christopher Columbus who began
colonizing America in 1492 on behalf of Spain. The reason for Christopher Columbus even finding
North America was an accident due to he was sailing west in hopes of an alternate route to India but
instead landed in the Caribbean. However though he was unsuccessful, this event opened up the door

The main similarity is that both revolutions involved getting away from British rule and both used
violence at some point. Although in the Indian revolution violence was not successful. Also in both
revolutions the British tried to use force to halt the revolutions early on by sending soldiers to collect
taxes in the United States and sending soldiers to end the Indian rebellion of 1857. However the
tactics used by the revolutionaries differed dramatically. In the Indian revolution the revolutionaries
refused to work and started to only buy Indian goods which had huge effects on the British economy
that were relying on these transactions where as in the American revolution the tactic was to simply
use force to drive the British out. (Sharma, S., 2010).

Bargaining power of supplier: High levels of competition among suppliers act to reduce prices to

Osteoporosis Is A Health Problem
Definition
Osteoporosis is a health problem which is on the rise and is affecting primarily women (Nichols,
Pavlovic, 2003, p. 447). Osteoporosis is characterized as a disease of the bones whereas the bones
becomes weak and very fragile. Many people with this disease often break bones within the hip, spine,
and wrist. The bones are easily broken from a minor fall or, in severe cases, from a simple sneeze. The
meaning of osteoporosis is porous bone. When looking at a healthy bone under a microscope, you will
find the resemblance of a honeycomb. Far as osteoporosis, those holes and spaces in a honeycomb are
much larger than a healthy bone (National Osteoporosis Foundation).
Magnitude of Problem
Within America, osteoporosis presently affects approximately 10 million people and is responsible for
more than 1.5 million fractures annually (Societal Burden of Osteoporosis). About 54 million
Americans have osteoporosis and low bone mass which makes them at high risk for the disease
(NOF). This disease holds a substantial financial burden with annual direct cost ranging from 17 to 20
billion dollars. Because of the consistent growth in age among the population, the prevalence and
number of osteoporosis fractures will continue to increase (SBO). Worldwide, osteoporosis has an
estimated total of affecting 200 million women, one tenth of women aged 60, one fifth of women aged
70, two fifths of women aged 80, and two thirds of women aged 90. Across the areas of Europe,

Hidden Homelessness, A Study By Sheffield Hallam...
INTRODUCTION TO THE RESEARCH QUESTION
Hidden Homelessness, a study by Sheffield Hallam University for Crisis, surveyed more than 400
rough sleepers revealing more than 1/5th of those interviewed had committed an imprisonable offence
in order to get off the streets for the night (THE GUARDIAN 2010).
Niven and Stewart s 2005 research indicates 30% of people released from prison are homeless and
offenders who are homeless prior to custody had one year reconviction of 79% compared with 47%
for those in accommodation (MOJ 2010).
Williams et al (2012) for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), indicated three fifths (60%) of prisoners
believed having a place to live was important in preventing future reoffending. The Prison Reform
Trust, reported in 2013 that 68% of prisoners considered being in employment on release was an
important factor in reducing reoffending.
The aim of this research is to establish how and why homeless people come to find themselves in
prison and factors that may influence their likelihood of reoffending in future. Furthermore it
questions whether homeless offenders are being adequately supported for their release whilst in prison
by housing, health, probation, welfare and education services. It will consider previous empirical
research in the field from Salem et al (2013) as well as McFarland and Blair (1995) and Pleace (2013).

Analysis Of The Movie Overlord
Overlord, a film with an interesting blend of historic footage and acting, does not present a heroic
view of World War Two. This film portrays a pessimistic view of the war using documentary footage,
as well as showing an ordinary soldier who died too young. Alongside this, at the time anti war
sentiment was on the rise and the memory of World War Two was being reshaped. The usage of
documentary footage in the film gives the audience a real view as to what happened during the D Day
invasions. Cooper portrays this particular aspect of the war in a negative light. Starting off, the footage
that is shown is simple arial footage of France before mass damage has taken place. Then as the film
progressed the footage that was shown grew darker. The audience begins to take in images of planes
bombing or shooting targets. Boats are sunk, trains are derailed, other planes are taken out of the sky,
and cars are engulfed in smoke. As well, footage of the devastation of the bombing of villages is
shown. Stores and homes are engulfed in flames, ruins of villages that once stood. The films even
displays footage of a bomb being dropped and the shockwave is clearly visible giving the audience a
sense of how powerful the ammunition being dropped was. All of this footage shows the death and
destruction associated with D Day. The decision to include this footage instead of something that
would make the audience sympathize with the soldiers, or even show the happier moments that the
soldiers

The Action Research Cycle Analysis Will Facilitate A...
As part of the action research cycle analysis will facilitate a process of dialectic examination. Winter

In England children start formal schooling at the age of four. However many children attend nursery
prior to starting school, with statistics from the Department for Education stating there were 1,673,130

Likewise, government agendas persist on viewing early years as a preparation for school, with
Elizabeth Truss suggesting increased access to early learning would improve the academic ability of
children (BBC, 2014).
In contrast, Britain s House of Commons Education Select Committee (2000) proposed that
formalised learning could damage learning whilst Tricia David (1998) of the Professional Association
of Nursery Nurses suggested that emphasis on formal education before the age of five could result in a
sense of failure, leading to long term underachievement and disaffection. Correspondingly Whitebread
(2013) suggests that formalised learning should be delayed, similarly to European countries who
currently have higher levels of academic achievement and child well being.
With families and government agendas seeking early years provision as the stepping stone to school,
with the capacity to improve academic success, formalised activities such as reading and writing
dominate early years classrooms. The data collected for this research indicates that families within my
setting believe that formalised learning is a necessary activity for preparation for school. Comments
such as, It would be wonderful to let my child play all day, but what are they going to learn? (Archive
7: Parent 4) implies that play is not deemed part of the school readiness agenda.

Analysis Of The Movie Limitless, Limitless Is A Science...
Valentina ParAn Analysis of the Film Limitless
Limitless is a science fiction film, which was released on March 18, 2011. The movie, which was
directed by Neil Burger and produced by Leslie Dickson, Scott Troopf and Ryan Kavanaugh; and the
screenplay created by Leslie Dickson is based on the out of the ordinary novel by Alan Glynns, The
Dark Fields. Other than the stories collision of an anti drug morality tale and an anti hubris morality
tale, which is the aforementioned Faustian bargain, limitless is an inspiring example of a film which
spends so much time on connecting the necessary dots of various over worn genres that it doesn t
ultimately fit into any of them. It is a guide to our recognizable cliché on the danger and power of
intelligence, exposed of their darker, more stimulating insinuation that elicits an aspect of advantage
into the audiences.
The film is one of a kind based on the uniqueness and the interesting plot and manages to grab the
viewer s attention from the beginning of the film where the audience is given a taste of what the rest
of the movie will feel like from beginning to end. The film revolves around a New York writer Eddie

private life as well.
Eddie runs into Vernon, his ex brother in law, in the streets who introduces him to the drug NZT.

the capability of its plot and characters, and many animation, movie and computer game stories are
from manga. In the academic and art fields, fan culture, the majority of visual images, fictional
characters plots and signs are the most attractive features in anime and manga. This subculture is
popular among teenagers and young adults and also creates the unique fandom activity cosplay (Chen,
2007).
What is Cosplay
Cosplay or kosupure (Japanese) is a combination words which means costume and play or role play
(Rahman et al., 2012; Peirson Smith, 2013; Winge, 2006). In the academic and popular culture field,
the origin of cosplay is from Japan, that is similar to western masquerade (Chen, 2007). It is a
performance art that fans dressing up and performing the roles as from comic books, movies or anime

Teaching Business, Health, And Other Life Skills
New Insights
Through work in this graduate programs here has been a constant gain of knowledge and new
perspectives being brought into light. For my interview, I chose a recent graduate looking to start
teaching business, health, and other life skills to high school students; this is mainly do my inability to
find the one area in student affairs I am truly passionate about, so I chose to speak with one of the
most passionate individuals I know. She did not wish for her name to be included, so I am going to
refer to her as Abby Rock. Abby places strong personal value on health, wellness, nutrition, and wants
to go back into high school to teach basic principles, from health and business, to teenagers. To help
her reach this goal, Abby chose to work towards getting her master s degree in education with a focus
on teaching. This was done simultaneously while she ran the operations of her family s gym,
completing her personal trainer certification, and observing teachers in various classrooms to find her
teaching style. I chose Abby because she is honest and does not stray far from her beliefs; this
interested me in how she will adapt to the classroom environment instead of the typical gym
environment she has been in.
Interview Breakdown Due to her busy schedule and travel constraints, the interview was conducted
over email throughout the past week. Abby defined leadership as, doing what is right when no one is
looking, and doing what is right when you don t receive

Trophy Hunting
Two months ago, moral panic hit the US when once obscure African lion, Cecil, met a seemingly
illegal slaughter by Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer at Zimbabwe s Hwange National Park, a short
distance of about 8,000 miles from Miami, Florida. Cecil, an unique and beloved lion with black
mane, was illegal murdered when Palmer, a trophy hunter, reportedly paid Zimbabwean guides for the
opportunity to slaughter the creature inside the park, using a carcass to lure him out (Walters, 2015).
Although lions are typically one of the species that can be legally hunted, outraged people across the
world are wondering when the African government will do something about the concerns of lions
becoming extinct unlike and unimportant to how 99 percent of currently threatened species are at risk
from human activities, primarily those driving habitat loss, introduction of exotic species, and global
warming (The Extinction Crisis),

These grotesque acts of trophy hunting can be easily stopped by the citizens of African countries, but
they are too busy with the pervasive corruption that is prevalent in their country (Duckworth, 2004b)
to realize it. It s not as if South Africa has the largest hunting industry in terms of numbers of
operators, visiting hunters, animals shot and revenues generated (Lindsey et al. 1997 2006), while
Kenya itself lost an estimated $20 40 million a year in lost revenues when trophy hunting was banned
(Elliott and Mwangi, 1998; Hurt and Ravn, 2000). While we rear our righteous head to this horrid
reveal of immorality, we should lead Africa in our American ways of incorruptibility that is not at all
tained by the recent trend of ag gag bills that makes it impossible for activists to expose industrial
animal operations via media or undercover investigation (Runyon,

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs
Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this
project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought
that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith.
However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much
more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as
religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own
definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Success Is Counted Sweetest Analysis
After only a short sixteen years, I have that realized that success abounds everywhere. To me success
is learning, growing, and changing. While society tries to inculcate that success equals winning, or
being the best at something, I would argue that losing is what truly plants the seed for the greatest
accomplishments in life. A failure is just an opportunity to gain knowledge of what does not work.
This knowledge can then be applied in order to accomplish goals in the future. My theory of success,
contends that failures should not be a cause for frustration, because they are necessary in order to
move forward.
First of all, even history has shown us that success is not measured in the amount of triumphs one has.

She writes, Success is counted sweetest/ By those who ne er succeed (Dickinson 1 2). Contrary to
popular opinion, Dickinson articulates that success is appreciated more when one works hard and
learns from each attempt, much like Edison did. Often in the face of failure, small victories go
unnoticed, but one must not forget that eventually all those little victories add up. This process leads to
greater self fulfillment and a true feeling of success. The author, Emily Dickinson herself, is a perfect
example of what she conveys in her poem. During her lifetime, Dickinson was not popular, and her
works were rarely published. By most accounts, this would mean Emily Dickinson, a world renowned
poet, was unsuccessful. However, present day opinions acknowledge that she succeeded in writing
enthralling poems. Her works are now celebrated and recognized as highly insightful and

Financial Problems With Bad Debt Management
Bad debt management is at an all time high. More people are having more financial problems than
ever before. Bankruptcy is at an all time high. Financial stress is tearing families apart.
Many people think debt consolidation is the answer to all their financial problems. Just think... you get
one loan to pay off all your debts. Then, you only have to deal with one company and one payment.
You have to admit, it sounds very good.
However, getting a debt consolidation loan will not likely resolve existing financial problems until or
unless one learns how to manage their debts. Financial abuse can get out of control. It can become
additive just like drugs or alcohol. Often, financial mismanagement occurs because of lack of
understanding. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, when you know he/she has your best interest at heart, you re more likely to follow the
advice you get.
You should talk with several different counselors. Learn as much as you can. Find someone that really
listens. If possible, talk with someone that has worked with the counselor. Get information on what the
counselor has done to help other people. Don t be afraid to ask specific questions: What will the
counselor will do? What will you be expected to do? How much it will cost? How long will it take?
Once you ve found a good debt management counselor with a proven track record, commit yourself to
listening to and applying the advice you receive.
2. Make Debt Reduction as a Priority
Every debt is different. You have different amounts to pay. The interest rates vary. It may not make
any difference on how you decide to tackle your debt. The most important point is that you focus on
paying off your debt.
Once you ve gotten some good advice from a debt management counselor, together you can determine
the best way to pay off your debts. You should feel good about your financial plan. Each time you pay
off a debt, you will feel better. Each time you pay a debt, you are one step closer to financial freedom.
Make paying off your debts the biggest priority and you will soon be on the road to a debt free life.
3. Follow Your Budget Plan
One major key to success in debt management is

Rise Of Rome Research Paper
The Great Rise of Rome and Latin In the ancient Italian peninsula, numerous languages were spoken
in many different regions. The most influential, extending to modern times, is Latin. Latin was the
vernacular of the region of Latium; the same region that gave rise to the remarkable city of Rome.
Rome was perhaps the greatest empire to have taken shape in history, exerting an infinite amount of
influence in politics, medicine, civilization, military, and language. While Rome spread her borders,
Latin would soon become the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world and beyond. The war against
the vast Carthaginian Empire that enabled the Romans to rule the known world and establish their
long lasting influence will be examined.

They gave Hannibal a taste of his own medicine, per se. The Senate raised an army and sent them to
Carthaginian Spain, forcing Hannibal to retreat. Spain was lost to Carthage forever, and all
Carthaginian forces retreated back to North Africa. Rome, however, was still not satisfied. Ceterum
autem censen Carthaginem esse delendum! or Carthage will be destroyed! said Cato the Elder (Nardo
pg. 32). By this time, Carthage had largely lost all her influence in the Mediterranean, and was
reduced to North Africa, until the final Punic war, when the Romans took over North Africa. Carthage
held out against the Romans as a mere city for three more years. Finally, the Romans decisively
gathered one last force, and breached Carthage s city walls. What ensued was a horrific

Essay about The Insanity Defense
Each state, and the District of Columbia, has its own statute outlining the standard for determining
whether a defendant is legally insane, therefore not responsible, at the time the crime is committed.
An insanity defense is based on the theory that most people can choose to follow the law; but a few
select persons cannot be held accountable because mental disease or disability deprives them of the
ability to make a rational / voluntary choice. Such individuals need special treatment as opposed to
prison; punishment is not likely to deter future antisocial conduct of these mentally diseased
individuals. Retrieved on 5/25/2010 from

After advances in the world of psychiatry, new interests in the field of psychology, new medications
thought to cure mental disease, and much frustration with the M Naghten Rule, the courts adopted a
new standard The Durham Test. The test provided that:
A person was not criminally responsible if the unlawful act was a product of mental disease or defect.
A jury was required to answer two questions: (1) did the defendant have a mental disease or defect?
and (2) if so, was the disease or defect the reason for the unlawful act? Both of the answers had to be
yes to return a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. The test was a recognition of that mental
illness was a disease that could be treated and possibly cured. Retrieved on 5/25/2010 from

In 1962, due to much criticism of the various tests for the insanity defense, the American Law Institute
(ALI) designed a new test that requires that the mental disease or defect be a mental diagnosis. The
penal code test is much broader than the M Naghten Rule and the Irresistible Impulse test. The
American Law Institute s Model Penal Code Test states:
A person is not responsible for criminal conduct if at the time of such conduct as a result of mental
disease or

  • 2. Disadvantages Of Unstructured Interview Interviews are a part of our day to day lives, with interviews being conducted in every other social interaction. According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative research purposes (Stuckey, 2013). According to Klenke (2016), qualitative interviewing provides a way of generating empirical data about the social world of informants asking them to talk about their lives (p. 125). It is a purposeful data collection method with a meaning making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design (Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016). Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and unstructured interviewing methods. The semi structured interview can be administered either face to face, through a questionnaire , via telephone or any other electronic method such as skype (McIntosh Morse, ... The Appropriate Roles For Local Gathering and Sharing The appropriate roles for local and federal law enforcement agencies in a national strategy for protecting the homeland is vigilance, intelligence gathering and sharing. When it came to the case of the Orlando Shooter, Omar Mateen, the gun smith told the FBI about him after he purchased the weapons and before he did the shooting. The law enforcement agencies need to take no warning or threat lightly. Intelligence gathering is very important in law enforcement. From what I understand, multiple agencies had information about the possibility of attacks, prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, and 9/11. Just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Army was providing its information only to the State Department and the Navy was providing its information only to the President (Clausen). Neither the Army nor the Navy shared its information with each other due to friction and infighting and the entire system was in shambles (Clausen). The same situation was present in 2001 with lack of sharing between the CIA and the FBI along with infighting (Wright). If they all shared what they had with each other, the attacks may not have happened. Local law enforcement roles should also include terrorism classes as well as training. Not only discussing their role during an attack but also practicing. Community policing plays a good role in prevention as well. Talking to the people of the community. • 4. The Female Oppression Of Women In William Shakespeare In Shakespeare s comedy, MoV, the female protagonists are not given the same opportunities men or treated seriously and rather only given these opportunities or have their words taken seriously if they act as men through cross dressing. From this portrayal, modern audiences can learn that oppression was present in the past and still continues to affect women in today s world. Portia has to cross dress in order to take on the role of a lawyer. She along with her maid in waiting, Nerissa That they shall think we are accomplishèd/With that we lack (3.4.62 63)During the Shakespearean era, women were not viewed as intelligent and lacked skills to have such roles. Going under the guise of a lawyer Portia would be able hold a position that she would not be able to have if she was appeared as a woman. Furthermore, this position also allows for her to have more power and gain respect from individuals in her society. While under this persona, Shylock lauds a disguised Portia for her judgement, saying A Daniel come to judgement! Yea, a Daniel./O wise young judge, how I do honor thee! (4.1.231 232) 1) Shylock likens Portia to a wise and important biblical figure, Daniel, who made wise judgement. By complimenting Portia, it goes to show that what a woman says is only deemed serious if not seen as a woman saying it. Each character s drive is shown in how passionate they are about how they want something to end up. The more you are driven to do something, the more likely that what you want will happen. However, if two people have the same drive, the conflict will resolve itself in a different way. Conflicts arise in different ways in each individual story, but most conflicts are introduced during the rising action in the literary piece. The one family that breaks first is not willing to kill, destroying the other families will to fight. This is because if one family does not want to fight, what is the point in fighting to the death? The original outcome does not come true due to the fact that one narrator changed and started communicating. Once this narrator s drive was known, the other narrator also communicated the lack of wanting to kill. The most notorious and first of these Europeans was Christopher Columbus who began colonizing America in 1492 on behalf of Spain. The main similarity is that both revolutions involved getting away from British rule and both used violence at some point. Although in the Indian revolution violence was not successful. Also in both revolutions the British tried to use force to halt the revolutions early on by sending soldiers to collect taxes in the United States and sending soldiers to end the Indian rebellion of 1857. However the tactics used by the revolutionaries differed dramatically. In the Indian revolution the revolutionaries refused to work and started to only buy Indian goods which had huge effects on the British economy that were relying on these transactions where as in the American revolution the tactic was to simply use force to drive the British out. Osteoporosis is characterized as a disease of the bones whereas the bones becomes weak and very fragile. Many people with this disease often break bones within the hip, spine, and wrist. The bones are easily broken from a minor fall or, in severe cases, from a simple sneeze. The meaning of osteoporosis is porous bone. When looking at a healthy bone under a microscope, you will find the resemblance of a honeycomb. INTRODUCTION TO THE RESEARCH QUESTION Hidden Homelessness, a study by Sheffield Hallam University for Crisis, surveyed more than 400 rough sleepers revealing more than 1/5th of those interviewed had committed an imprisonable offence in order to get off the streets for the night (THE GUARDIAN 2010). Niven and Stewart s 2005 research indicates 30% of people released from prison are homeless and offenders who are homeless prior to custody had one year reconviction of 79% compared with 47% for those in accommodation (MOJ 2010). Williams et al (2012) for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), indicated three fifths (60%) of prisoners believed having a place to live was important in preventing future reoffending. The Prison Reform Trust, reported in 2013 that 68% of prisoners considered being in employment on release was an important factor in reducing reoffending. The aim of this research is to establish how and why homeless people come to find themselves in prison and factors that may influence their likelihood of reoffending in future. Furthermore it questions whether homeless offenders are being adequately supported for their release whilst in prison by housing, health, probation, welfare and education services. • 15. Analysis Of The Movie Overlord Overlord, a film with an interesting blend of historic footage and acting, does not present a heroic view of World War Two. This film portrays a pessimistic view of the war using documentary footage, as well as showing an ordinary soldier who died too young. Alongside this, at the time anti war sentiment was on the rise and the memory of World War Two was being reshaped. The usage of documentary footage in the film gives the audience a real view as to what happened during the D Day invasions. Cooper portrays this particular aspect of the war in a negative light. Starting off, the footage that is shown is simple arial footage of France before mass damage has taken place. Then as the film progressed the footage that was shown grew darker. The audience begins to take in images of planes bombing or shooting targets. Boats are sunk, trains are derailed, other planes are taken out of the sky, and cars are engulfed in smoke. As well, footage of the devastation of the bombing of villages is shown. Stores and homes are engulfed in flames, ruins of villages that once stood. The films even displays footage of a bomb being dropped and the shockwave is clearly visible giving the audience a sense of how powerful the ammunition being dropped was. All of this footage shows the death and destruction associated with D Day. Likewise, government agendas persist on viewing early years as a preparation for school, with Elizabeth Truss suggesting increased access to early learning would improve the academic ability of children (BBC, 2014). In contrast, Britain s House of Commons Education Select Committee (2000) proposed that formalised learning could damage learning whilst Tricia David (1998) of the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses suggested that emphasis on formal education before the age of five could result in a sense of failure, leading to long term underachievement and disaffection. Correspondingly Whitebread (2013) suggests that formalised learning should be delayed, similarly to European countries who currently have higher levels of academic achievement and child well being. With families and government agendas seeking early years provision as the stepping stone to school, with the capacity to improve academic success, formalised activities such as reading and writing dominate early years classrooms. The data collected for this research indicates that families within my setting believe that formalised learning is a necessary activity for preparation for school. • 19. Analysis Of The Movie Limitless, Limitless Is A Science... Valentina ParAn Analysis of the Film Limitless Limitless is a science fiction film, which was released on March 18, 2011. The movie, which was directed by Neil Burger and produced by Leslie Dickson, Scott Troopf and Ryan Kavanaugh; and the screenplay created by Leslie Dickson is based on the out of the ordinary novel by Alan Glynns, The Dark Fields. Other than the stories collision of an anti drug morality tale and an anti hubris morality tale, which is the aforementioned Faustian bargain, limitless is an inspiring example of a film which spends so much time on connecting the necessary dots of various over worn genres that it doesn t ultimately fit into any of them. It is a guide to our recognizable cliché on the danger and power of intelligence, exposed of their darker, more stimulating insinuation that elicits an aspect of advantage into the audiences. The film is one of a kind based on the uniqueness and the interesting plot and manages to grab the viewer s attention from the beginning of the film where the audience is given a taste of what the rest of the movie will feel like from beginning to end. The film revolves around a New York writer Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) who has been shown to have quite a load of problems within his career and private life as well. For my interview, I chose a recent graduate looking to start teaching business, health, and other life skills to high school students; this is mainly do my inability to find the one area in student affairs I am truly passionate about, so I chose to speak with one of the most passionate individuals I know. She did not wish for her name to be included, so I am going to refer to her as Abby Rock. Abby places strong personal value on health, wellness, nutrition, and wants to go back into high school to teach basic principles, from health and business, to teenagers. To help her reach this goal, Abby chose to work towards getting her master s degree in education with a focus on teaching. This was done simultaneously while she ran the operations of her family s gym, completing her personal trainer certification, and observing teachers in various classrooms to find her teaching style. I chose Abby because she is honest and does not stray far from her beliefs; this interested me in how she will adapt to the classroom environment instead of the typical gym environment she has been in. Interview Breakdown Due to her busy schedule and travel constraints, the interview was conducted over email throughout the past week. Trophy Hunting Two months ago, moral panic hit the US when once obscure African lion, Cecil, met a seemingly illegal slaughter by Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer at Zimbabwe s Hwange National Park, a short distance of about 8,000 miles from Miami, Florida. At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. • 27. Success Is Counted Sweetest Analysis After only a short sixteen years, I have that realized that success abounds everywhere. To me success is learning, growing, and changing. While society tries to inculcate that success equals winning, or being the best at something, I would argue that losing is what truly plants the seed for the greatest accomplishments in life. A failure is just an opportunity to gain knowledge of what does not work. This knowledge can then be applied in order to accomplish goals in the future. My theory of success, contends that failures should not be a cause for frustration, because they are necessary in order to move forward. First of all, even history has shown us that success is not measured in the amount of triumphs one has. As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. This process leads to greater self fulfillment and a true feeling of success. The author, Emily Dickinson herself, is a perfect example of what she conveys in her poem. During her lifetime, Dickinson was not popular, and her works were rarely published. By most accounts, this would mean Emily Dickinson, a world renowned poet, was unsuccessful. Essay about The Insanity Defense Each state, and the District of Columbia, has its own statute outlining the standard for determining whether a defendant is legally insane, therefore not responsible, at the time the crime is committed. An insanity defense is based on the theory that most people can choose to follow the law; but a few select persons cannot be held accountable because mental disease or disability deprives them of the ability to make a rational / voluntary choice.
