The Lottery, And Mansfield s Third Person Perspectives
A story is never without a point of view a perspective in which the story is foretold. This perspective
can come in a variety of forms, from first person, second person, to third person, with each shaping
the specifics and details of the background or characters of the tale. Further broken down into three
categories is the third person perspective, which ranges from omniscient, objective, to limited. To
understand the impact the differences in third person perspectives can make on a story and the reader s
understanding of it, a closer look at the readings of Jackson s The Lottery in third person objective and
Mansfield s Miss Brill in third person omniscient is in order. Overall, there s a similarity between the
two perspectives in how they capture and convey obvious information within the story. However, the
distinct disparity between the two becomes rather apparent as the actions of the characters become
focused upon. Jackson, The Lottery. Third Person, Objective. Kids receive rocks. Mansfield, Miss
Brill. Third Person, Omniscient. Drawing conclusions of individuals around her. Insight to her
thoughts. Fundamentally, both the third person objective and third person omniscient have the ability
to describe the actions and outward appearances of characters either known or unknown to the
protagonist. In the story of Miss Brill, the readers are presented an imagery of an everyday Sunday
morning through the description and focus of several different characters, from the

Advantages Of Viral Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Technology and information have growing rapidly in recent decades led to the increasing number of
new media that support the means to communicate. It is considered as a new era of communication
and information. The massive scale of development gradually continued to be used by many parties,
especially in the process of dissemination of information via internet. Everyone use the internet to
distribute information and news to other people. The phenomenon of Internet usage is evidenced by
the increasing number of internet users in the world, especially in developing countries. Based on data
obtained from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the internet user in the developing
countries is almost 2.5 billion users compared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, according to Dahan (2012) quoted by Snyder (2004), viral marketing is a type of word of mouth
marketing technique used on the internet . Viral marketing can encourage customers to communicate
with each other in order to offer product or brand under consideration. Viral marketing concept, which
was first used by Steve Jurvetson and Tim Draper, is defined as a word of mouth marketing technique
used in relation to a brand, product or service similar to the spread of viruses on social networks on
electronic media (Comet, 2006; Dahan, 2012; cited in Akyol, 2013). In conclusion, viral marketing
can be defined as a word of mouth marketing technique that use internet as a social networks media to
spread information related to our products or brands.
Viral marketing is different with other marketing strategies. The difference is that it has an authentic
content that provokes individuals. Individuals share this creative content due to its authenticity on
electronic social networks and thus, this content reaches millions of people by being communicated
from one individual to another on social networks (Wilson, 2005; cited in Dahan, 2012). This content,
which spreads like a virus very fast from one individual to another, increases awareness even if it does
not affect the sales of the related brand, product or service instantly (Dahan 2012, cited in Akyol,

Optometrist Personal Statement
In second grade, when I placed my glasses on my face for the very first time, I entered into a different
realm of reality a reality where I could see things for what they truly were. I was intrigued by the way
my eye doctor was able to help me in maintaining a keen eyesight during each annual exam visit.
Being able to see clearly is one of the most valuable assets to have when living in this world because
not only does sight constitute the majority of our perception of things, it also allows us to form a
closer connection with our surroundings. For this reason, I have chosen to become an optometrist and
improve the vision of others so they, too, can truly see all the world has to offer. Throughout college, I
wish to gain a more in depth understanding

Essay on America s Endangered Species Act
America s Endangered Species Act
Save the Bald Eagles! Save the whales! Save the Mountain Lions! Such were the environmentalists
rallying cries that brought about the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although, the first official
endangered species legislation was a 1966 bill that called for saving U.S. wildlife, but lacked the
powers to do so. The Endangered Species Act(ESA) of 1973 set forth the basic rules that apply in the
U.S. today. Two agencies, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service, are
responsible for reviewing the status of species in trouble to see if they warrant listing as either
threatened or endangered. The decision is to be based solely on scientific data rather than social
factors, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By pain, I mean to our consciences or if you will our souls. By adopting the Endangered Species Act,
Americans have adopted a simple value theory, when it comes to dealing with other life forms. This
theory is simply pleasure is good and pain is evil. According to this theory, under the Endangered
Species Act, the extinction of any species that would bring pain to ourselves is to be saved and those
that do not hamper our consciences can be done away with.
This is evident from the modern viewpoint of the caretakers and enforcers of the Endangered Species
Act, the Fish Wildlife Services. According to them the Endangered Species Act of 1973, holds that
endangered and threatened species of animal and plants are of esthetics, ecological, educational,
historical, recreational, and scientific value to the nation and its people (Fish Wildlife Service,1989).
Even advertisements and public educational programs to save endangered species, only point out the
value of certain species to mankind. Nowhere is it said that a species should be preserved for intrinsic
values and its right to exist in the world.
For example, the most famous of the American listed endangered species is the Bald Eagle, our nation
s symbol. The loss of these birds would have been painful to our ego and national pride. By placing
the bird on the Endangered Species Act,

The Omega Man Research Paper
There are many similarities and differences between The Last Man on Earth and The Omega Man .
Both films are based on the book, I am Legend , by Richard Matheson. The main character s name in
The Last Man on Earth is Robert Morgan, while it is Robert Neville in The Omega Man . The Last
Man on Earth is placed in 1968 and The Omega Man is placed in 1975.
The symptoms of the disease are different in the films. Morgan lives in a world where everyone else
has been infected by a plague that has turned them into vampire like creatures that cannot stand
sunlight, fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. They would kill Morgan, but they are weak and
unintelligent. In The Omega Man, the plague effects its victims in a different way. It turns them into
an albino mutant group called The Family. Their leader is a former news anchor named Matthias.
These people still have their intelligence, and they are able to function like humans. They want to kill
Neville because they believe that technology and science is evil. ... Show more content on

When it turns dark, Morgan locks himself inside his house. During the day, he kills as many vampires
as he can, burning the bodies after. Neville spends his days patrolling the deserted city of Los Angeles,
hunting and killing members of The Family. He has his apartment building equipped with an arsenal
of weaponry and is also a prisoner in his own home at night. Both of the characters believe they are
the plague s only immune survivor. They think they are immune for different reasons though. Morgan
thinks he is immune to the bacteria because he was bitten by an infected vampire bat, which
introduced a diluted form of the plague into his blood. Neville believes he is immune because he

Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment
God Answers the Questions Presented by Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and
Punishment
In Dostoevsky s novels pain and some heavy burden of the inevitability of human suffering and
helplessness form Russia. And he depicts it not with white gloves on, nor through the blisters of the
peasant, but through people who are close to him and his realities: city people who either have faith,
or secular humanists who are so remote from reality that even when they love humanity they despise
humans because of their own inability to achieve or to create paradise on earth. His novels The
Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment are best examples of the poisonous effect of such
ideals on the common man. The rebellion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is not the love that is directed towards the humanity as a whole, but towards the individual: Strive
to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably (II, 4). For Dostoevsky such love is a false one and he
presents it through such characters as Rakitin, Perkhotin and even Luzhin:
Consciousness of life is superior to life, knowledge of the laws of happiness is superior to happiness
that is what we must fight against. (The Dream of a Ridiculous Man , p. 382)
One of greatest evils for Dostoevsky are the so called liberals who love humanity more than an
individual man. Yet he does not represent their behavior as genuinely evil . Their hate towards
humanity arises exactly from the opposite: love. Secular humanists see so much evil, crime and
inhumanity, they cannot stop it so they rebel. Ivan Karamazov and his rebellion are purely of that
kind. He is not vile, he just cannot understand that there might be a solution for such suffering,
especially in the case of children who are innocent in Christianity. That is why Ivan asks:
Love life more than the meaning of it? (II, 3)
Ivan as any average intellectual, wants to know. To know the meaning of life for him is more
important than to actually do something about the human suffering. Ivan forgets that one human life is
as important as the entire humanity. For him humanity is merely an abstraction which happen to be
surrounding him.

Dave Berry Ketchup Satire
Everyone around the world have their own unique ways on making teaching their loved ones a life
lesson. Parents will try to teach their child in a fun way just so they can learn what they have been
told. Their child, will finally understand what is going on. Some people even involve ketchup. In the
fictional letter, Dave Berry teaches his grandson life s lesson beginning with the ketchup, Dave Berry
uses high comedy in the form of hyperboles and sarcasm to prove that just because many people
believe something, that does not make them right. But, it also does not mean that they are wrong.
Everyone must think, why I said ketchup . Out of everything, how does ketchup help with life
lessons? Well, if Dave Barry, could explain to his grandson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the letter, hyperboles are going to make everything seem exaggerated but will make anyone chuckle
or smile. Many people believe that their cats actually like them. Many people believe that the New
York Yankees are not the agents of Satan. Many people believe that light beer is a form of beer. Many
people voluntarily purchase recordings by Barry Manilow (Barry). The quote involves exaggeration.
The author is making the quote funny by exaggerating what the author is saying to not believe in
anything. The intended response for the readers/audience is for them to think about what is going on.
This quote makes everyone wonder if it is actually happening or not. In another quote, Dave Barry,
explains how cold ketchup could ruin hamburgers. For example, in the letter Barry says, Millions of
people routinely ruin perfectly good hamburgers and hot dogs by putting cold ketchup and mustard on
them (Barry). In the quote exaggeration is shown through hyperbole when he states that hamburgers
and hotdogs are completely ruined, from cold ketchup and mustard. The author knows that burgers
and hotdogs are not actually ruined from cold condiments, they re just simply not to his liking. The
intended response for the reader was a light laugh or chuckle because they soon find out that the
narrator is making fun of people who use cold ketchup and

Federal Jurisdiction Essay
Federal Jurisdiction
Abstract
In this paper I will discuss a case involving Henry, a resident of Nevada, who sued Adam, a resident of
Utah in the Federal Court in California. Henry sought $60,000 damages for personal injuries arising
from an automobile accident that occurred in Los Angeles, California. I will answer the following
questions about this case. Does the Federal Court have jurisdiction? What rules of procedure will the
court use? Why? And what rules of substantive law will the court use? One of the most essential
questions of law is whether a given court has jurisdiction to preside over a given case. Jurisdiction
means the power to hear a case. Many courts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A federal court would not have jurisdiction. The plaintiff would have to find a subordinate court to
rule on the case, following laws appropriate to where the occurrence happened.
Since the occurrence happened in LA, the defendant can be sued there. Because the defendant resides
in Utah, he could be sued there as well. Depending on the specific structure of the Utah, California,
and Nevada state s court system, trial courts may be city/municipal courts, justice of the peace,
county/circuit courts, or even regional trial courts. Unless the defendant could be served while moving
through Nevada, California would probably be the best place to initially file. Given the conditions of
this case, specific trial would most likely be conducted in a California trial court or the defendant s
home jurisdiction, The plaintiff may find one or the other more suitable. In my opinion, selection of
the defendant s home town as the venue would likely be less beneficial to the plaintiff.
Rules of Procedure
If parties are involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, he or she will usually file a lawsuit in the
Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. This is because this typically falls under the
authority or jurisdiction of state courts in the county where the injury happened, or where persons
involved in the occurrence are located. The rules of procedure for this case would most likely follow
California s Civil Procedures. The Civil Code of California

The Gospel Of Mark Essays
Jesus Christ lived a very full, if short, life. He did and accomplished more in his thirty years than
many men do in twice that. The gospels each tell their versions of his life. Of the four, I found the
gospel of Mark to be the most interesting. I enjoy the style of writing in this gospel more than the
others. I feel it gives a better summary of the events in Christ s life. Whereas the other gospels tend to
get bogged down with parables or spend too much time on specific events, the gospel of Mark moves
along at a good pace and adequately gets the message across. A majority of Mark deals with Christ s
travels throughout the area around the Sea of Galilee and the various miracles he performed during
that time. Most of these involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a beautifully written passage. Without coming out and saying, it, Christ makes it apparent that
it s not enough to merely worship; one must also go out and preach to the unsaved and try to help
them see the light. Another parable tells of the rich young man who asks Christ how he may attain the
kingdom of God. Christ asks if he as followed the Ten Commandments, and the young man says he
has. Then Christ tells him that he has to give all his possessions to the poor because he will have no
need of such things in Heaven. This saddens the young man because he has many possessions. After
the young man left, Christ told his disciples that it is difficult for the rich to get into Heaven because
they put too much faith into their riches. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than
for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God, (Mark 10:25). This is a poignant message. Christ then
says that a man who gives up everything for his faith will be well rewarded in Heaven. This parable is
timeless. It speaks of the downfall greed can force upon you. In the end, no matter how much you
have, you can t take it with you. One of the most widely told stories of Jesus is written in Mark. Upon
visiting the Temple in Jerusalem, Christ finds it is overrun with merchants and moneychangers.
Enraged, Jesus overturns the tables and calls the temple a den of thieves. This angered the priests and
scribes of the city,

The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau-Banks
Setting always plays a major part in writing. An work is based around a conflict, that s just how
writing operates naturally; and since setting manipulates the conflict in a story, everything can change
simply due to where it takes place. A great example of this is The Disreputable History of Frankie
Landau Banks , where the plot develops around the setting in which it takes place. Due to the fact that
The Disreputable History takes place entirely in a boarding school, the conflict can change
unpredictably because the characters lives revolve around Alabaster Preparatory Academy . The main
character, Frankie, is a sophomore in high school that struggles with the fact that she s a feminist.
Many teenagers struggle in daily social life that includes going to school, no doubt. Though,

Frankie that felt what nearly what every teenager would have felt in that situation: embarrassed. She
wished she hadn t broken this stupid rule. She wished Matthew would come and rescue her. Or when
she thinks: Why on Earth could she have done such a dumb thing? This is a fairly common example of
man vs society , it s also a sign of the panopticon theory (the feeling of being watched even though
you aren t). The setting of a crowded lunchroom is what illuminates this conflict, this is because she s
sitting alone, yet she s surrounded by a lot of people. Frankie thinks that there is almost an unseen rule
not to sit alone at a lunch table; yet she does it anyway and in result she feels embarrassed and

What Is Hieronymus Bosch Owls
For my final project I chose Hieronymus Bosch, more specifically I decided to focus on his use of
owls in his paintings. Bosch was a very interesting dude and his paintings are weird. People who have
minds like Bosch fascinate me. My mind doesn t work like that and I find it very interesting and I can
t even imagine what kinds of conversations Bosch had with his fellow artist at the time.
Another reason why I chose to look into the owls is because I love owls. I always knew that owls
symbolize with wisdom and knowledge and erudition that can see through obscurity (and as the bird
of Athena/Minerva, the goddess of wisdom), the owl appears frequently in the emblems of scholarly
publishing houses and book stores (Biedermann, 250) but Bosch gives his owls different symbolic
meanings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has many symbols but mainly owls and nakedness. Before Bosch was even alive and working, owl
images, motifs, and drawings had already became symbolic. Owl motifs were seen in Babylonian and
Egyptian reliefs, Ancient Greek and later in Roman art, according to Jelena Melnikova Grigorjeva,
Olga Bogdanova. In Christianity, on one hand, owl depicted as Christ, and on the other hand, owl
depicted as sinners, With their nocturnal habits, solitude, silent flight, and plaintive cry, owls came to
symbolize a turning away from spiritual light or, conversely, Jesus Christ in the night of suffering and
death (Biedermann, 250). It seems like owls have negative associations. Even Renaissance artists
associate owls with death, delusion, and temptation, although sometimes that temptation is for

Conflict In The Looking Glass Wars
E.E. Cummings explained It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are.
Alyss when she was young loved her home in Wonderland but had to grow up in a whole other world.
She would always think her imagination would get the best of her but that fantasy never left as she
grew and became who she really was. In The Looking Glass Wars, Frank Beddor uses conflict to
transform Alyss from a mischievous, endearing, and naive girl to a fond of, praised, and comfortable
young woman so that she can defeat Redd and take back the Heart Queendom.
In the beginning of the novel, Princess Alyss is characterized as mischievous, endearing, and naive.
Alyss loves to play pranks such as dropping jollyjellies from an open window and watching them splat
on the guards below (Beddor 11). Instead of behaving like a proper princess, she prefers getting into
trouble with her best friend, Dodge. However, her pranks are never mean spirited; Alyss just enjoys
having fun. Although Alyss is mischievous, her father finds Alyss to be a delightful creature (Beddor
19). Besides her parents, other adults who even sometimes find themselves as Alyss s targets, such as
Bibwit Harte, also, find Alyss to be endearing. They appreciate her playfulness and are charmed by
her. Since Alyss is so accustomed to people loving her, she barely questions, Where did you come
from? when a kitten randomly appears as a birthday present for her (Beddor 41). Alyss is naïve and

Jürgen liked this style on him so the next day he recreated it and the mop top was born (at this time it

Indian Wedding Rituals And Traditional Rituals
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... A wedding is a ceremony of
marriage that is celebrated across cultures. It is one of the only rituals that many of the world s
cultures have in common. However, each culture has their own unique traditions when dealing with
marriage. Because India is a more religious nation than the United States, they tend to stick to a more
traditional regimen of rituals and customs. While most weddings in the United States have developed
into more modernized versions of the ancient ceremony, Hindu weddings in India continue to be very
traditional and religious. Weddings are also taken much more seriously in India than they are in the

Importance Of Disabilities In The Film Children Of A...
Disabilities are common throughout the world whether it affects one s ability to walk or talk. Although
one may be born disabled, it ll take time for them to adjust to their surroundings. During their lifetime,
many emotions will be shown through words or actions. Seeing humans maneuver around and
communicate, those with disabilities learn; however, they choose to live how they wish. One may
reach out for assistance, while others will ignore the fact that they need help. However, significant
others or friends may try to change one s ways in helping and assisting them to adjust to the everyday

Avoiding Roof Repair In Salt Lake House
One of the joys of owning your own home is that you will never run out of things to do. From mowing
the lawn and raking to maintaining the furnace, your list of homeowner duties could be quite long.
With so much keeping you on your toes year round, you will probably want to find a way to avoid
unnecessary problems. For example, making repairs to your roof after it has been damaged by a tree.
If you want to avoid roof repair in Salt Lake City, UT, here are a few things to look out for if you have
a tree in your yard. Branches: Trees are known to have overhanging branches that are often a nuisance
to homeowners. If your home wasn t so important to you, you may not be bothered by this, but
branches pose a serious threat to your roof. Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may seem like there is little destruction that can be done by leaves, but this isn t exactly true. When
leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come
from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened
support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When
trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how
long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the
weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no
damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Pests: The trees near your home are actually
home to pests and insects. With the trees being so close to your home, these pests and insects can
easily make their way to your roof and cause damage. For example, raccoons, birds, termites and more
can eat your roof, loosen shingles and pretty much destroy your roof over time. To put a stop to this

Test Anxiety Research
Test anxiety is a feeling of fear and worry for those individuals who will have performance
evaluations (Brown et. al, 2011 as cited by Madridano, 2013). According to McNally (2002), there are
two types of test anxiety somatic and cognitive. Somatic anxiety is anxiety provoked by bodily
symptoms of tension such as butterflies in the stomach while cognitive anxiety is provoked by mental
concerns or worry which is supported by Cassidy and Johnson (2002) that cognitive anxiety was able
to accurately reflect the experience of highly anxious students during testing situations. Worry serves
as interference during the acquisition of information, as well as before and after evaluative tasks.
Students who think about the negative outcome of their performance evaluations anxiety crashes their
performance. Social scientist Mac Leod (2004) supports test anxiety theory by looking how a student
evaluates his/ her ability to succeed. In an article distributed by en.wikipedia.org, test anxiety is a
combination of physiological over arousal, tension and somatic symptoms, along with worry, dread,
fear of failure, and catastrophizing, that occur before or during test situations. It is a physiological
condition in which people experience extreme stress, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Electronic Medical Record ( Emr )
HIS, also known as healthcare information system is a broad system used in healthcare settings.
Depending on the needs of the facility, determines the complexity of the system. This can range from
basic needs such as billing to the more complex which encompasses several systems that help manage
every service available to the patient. Learning to use and integrate this into the nursing field is crucial
to effectively care for and manage patients. In 2004, the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC)
was established. This merged healthcare and IT programing in the United States. In 2008, ONC
decided on terms used to identify patient s records. Within the clinical information system, there are

If a HIE is not present, the EMRs are not able to communicate with other facilities EMRs causing
duplicate information on patient that isn t always correct. A situation where this is common is when a
patient has surgery and then goes to another facility for complications due to the surgery, the patients
knowledge doesn t always coincide with the actual events that took place. While EHRs have several
benefits, they still come at a cost to the provider and the consumer. It wasn t until 2009 when the
Health Information Technology for Economics and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, signed the largest
US initiative to date. This enticed the widespread of use of EHRs as a part of the stimulus package(4).
Electronic health records have propelled IT into the next generation of healthcare. Not only is
everything at the providers fingertips, it allows autonomy for the patient. Our world is becoming very
digital, from purchasing concert tickets, to applying for college, this is done at the click of a fingertip.
Yet healthcare has aspects that are still stuck in the paper documentation era. From receive paper
prescriptions from their doctors to filling out patient history every time someone sees a different
physician, there is still work to be done to seamlessly transition to a digital platform. According to
Collum and Menachemi, EHRs are defined as a longitudinal electronic record of patient health
information generated by one or more encounters in

Analysis Of Stilsim
Financial Performance Interpretation
Introductory Paragraph A review of a company s financial performance can help determine if the
organization is utilizing its resources to receive the most benefit for the organization for short and long
term planning. This paper will review the current performance of StilSim by comparing it to a
competitor and evaluating its past. A review of the company s short term liquidity, long term solvency,
asset management, and profitability will help to determine the next steps in the strategic plan.
Short Term Liquidity Short term liquidity ratios help to determine if a company can operate

These ratios are the most closely viewed by creditors, investors and management (Cornett, Adair

earnings ratio is the opposite (Sustainable Personal Finance, 2011). It is the amount that must be held
back in order to make the payout. Strength or Weakness. StilSim has a very weak dividend payout and
retained earnings. The company is paying out way more than it should and not retaining enough to do
any good. StilSim s retained earnings are negative and the payout is over $2. There must be changes
made to this immediately or the company will not last long. There needs to be a balance.
Profitability Measures
A review of a company s profitability lets investors or managers know how efficiently a company is
operating. There are three key ratios to review. The profit margin, return on equity and return on
assets. The profit margin is the net income divided by sales. The higher the profit margins the better.
The return on equity is net income divided by total equity (Cornett, Adair Nofsinger, 2009).. This can
help to determine the amount of financial leverage the company is using. The return on assets is the
net income divided by total assets. This can also help determine the financial leverage the company is

Development Of Infants And Toddlers
INTRODUCTION
I. I m sure we can all relate to the moment when you first meet a new born, infant or even toddler and
all you can say is Awh how cute he or she is , and how much you just want to pinch those chubby
cheeks or tickle those little toes.
II. Whether you ve had a child of our own, have a younger sibling, or even may have never been
around young children before, we all have our own experiences and unique ways of interacting with
them.
III. These little cute bundles of joy, or maybe occasionally not so joyful at times have much more than
just cute looks. From birth to five years of age they are actually going through a critical period of
development that is a complex and vital to their growth for years to come.
IV. Ever since I was a young girl I have always had a great interest in learning about the development
of infants and toddlers. Now, as I enter my senior year in the Family and Child Sciences Department
at Florida State University, I have gained great one on one personal experience working with children
ranging from zero to ten years old.
As we all might know the obvious physical developmental signs an infant goes through known as
growth. What many may not know is the stages a child moves through known as, child developmental
stages or milestones. This includes how the child becomes able to do more complex things as they get
older. Such as Gross and fine motor skills, Social and Language skills, and lastly Cognitive Skills.

The Structural Causes Of The 1979 Iranian Revolution
1979 Iranian Revolution
In the eyes of many Iranians, the Iranian Revolution started before 1979. After the 1953 coup driven
by the U.K and U.S ( specifically the C.I.A) the well liked prime minister Dr. Mossadeq was arrested.
Reinstated in Mossadeq s place was Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, AKA the Shah. The 1979 Revolution
was then led by Ayatollah Khomeini who found many problems with the Shah s rule of Iran,
beginning with the Shah s reform program. Key drivers of the 1979 Revolution were Iranians growing
frustration with economic inequality, the Shah s suppression of political opposition and widespread
resentment of the government s close ties to the United States and Britain.

How Does Woolworth Use The Competitive Intelligence Cycle...
In order for Woolworths to form strategies and make strategic decisions, they need to scan their
internal and external environment. By gathering this information, it allows them to understand where
they currently are in the environment, what their capabilities are and how they can utilize these two
elements by integrating them to achieve a sustainable, competitive advantage. As a result, they are
able to sense environmental change and easily adapt their internal elements to suit the needed changed
(Louw Venter, 2010). This can be represented by the following framework :
We recommend that Woolworths use the competitive intelligence cycle to constantly scan their
external environment. They will first plan, identify key intelligence topics, then actually collet,
evaluate and analyse the data for their benefit. They need to analyse from all sources such as
competitors and customers and may also be indirect like observing what the community needs.
Woolworths should dedicate considerable resources to this cycle and encourage everyone who works
for them to be aware of and share this information, which has since been converted to knowledge, as a
competitive tool to get ahead of competitors.
The internal data created by Woolworths needs to be converted to meaning and useful information for
the strategic mangers to utilize in forming strategic plans. Woolworths will store all of this data in data
warehouses and then mine this data to find patterns and

Change Blindness Essay
Change Blindness
After investigating spatial cognition and the construction of cognitive maps in my previous paper,
Where Am I Going? Where Have I Been: Spatial Cognition and Navigation , and growing in my
comprehension of the more complex elements of the nervous system, the development of an informed
discussion of human perception has become possible. The formation of cognitive maps, which serve
as internal representations of the world, are dependent upon the human capacities for vision and visual
perception (1). The objects introduced into the field of vision are translated into electrical messages,
which activate the neurons of the retina. The resultant retinal message is organized into several forms
of sensation and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of change blindness has been addressed over the course of nearly half a century, with
increasing focus on the subject throughout the past five years (3). Although biologists, psychologists,
and philosophers have yet to resolve definitively the paradox of looking without seeing, the
investigation of each theory on the matter yields deeper insight into visual perception and sight as well
as a decreasingly incorrect understanding of those components of the nervous system, which are
crucial for visual cognition. Under normal viewing conditions, changes produce transient signals that
can draw attention. Change blindness studies are designed to eliminate or block these transient signals
by inserting a visual disruption when the change occurs (3). Flicker Paradigm studies examine the
occurrence of change blindness and attempt to explain the inability to not see that which is directly in
front of our eyes. The Flicker Paradigm demonstrates the essentiality of attention in the process of
seeing (4). The alternation of an object and a modified version of that same object is interrupted by
millisecond flashes of blank space. Subjects are then asked to report changes in the images.
In order understand the events leading to the failure to recognize change, comprehension of the
mechanism by which change is successfully recognized is requisite. According to the traditional
understanding of this process, an individual must form an internal

The Prince Machiavelli
Niccolo Machiavelli, one of the great political minds of the 15th century, accomplished what many
mathematicians today only dream of, having one s name used as an adjective. To be Machiavellian is
to demonstrate characteristics of expediency, deceit, and cunning and as Machiavelli wrote in, The
Prince, these are the qualities of a great leader. The Prince was published in 1531, creating great
controversy with other political thinkers of the time. Machiavelli completely ignored the popular
religious teachings of the era and erased the moral and ethical considerations from the leadership
equation; the actions of a ruler should be governed solely by necessity. Since I intend to write

Machiavelli does not directly condemn those who study and espouse the ideal; he condemns them for
failing to study the real as well and claims that this oversight will lead to their ruin. In other words,
hope for the best and plan for the worst, a quite depressingly, realistic world view.
One of the most colorful analogies that Machiavelli makes is when he describes the teacher of
Achilles. A brilliant example of man s inherent paradox, Chiron, the centaur, was significant to
Machiavelli because he was half man and half beast making the argument that one without the other
has no lasting effect. As the lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself
from wolves, you have to be a fox in order to be wary of traps, and a lion to overawe the wolves.
Those who try to live by the lion alone are badly mistaken (228). According to Machiavelli the lion
represents the beast, proud and powerful but vulnerable. The fox represents the aspect of man
Machiavelli values most, the ability to deceive. This is yet another example of Machiavelli looking
down on man, he takes what in his opinion is man s greatest ability and compares it to an animal that
does it better.
A great leader has both the strength and charisma of the lion and the cunning of the fox; these are the
qualities of a great leader according to Machiavelli. The way Machiavelli

Hearsay Testimonies Case Summary
Testimonies from children who have experienced sexual assault can mean the difference between

even physically harmed jeopardizing their statements during the trial. There are a number of reasons
for children to be unable to give full accounts of what has occurred to them. For the purpose of
protecting child victims and making sure they are heard the courts have implemented innovations that
make testifying less traumatic for children and allow for a more accurate description of the assault.

The Effect of Hearsay Witness Age in a Child Sexual assault case from the journal Psychology, Public
Policy, and Law, authors Jonathan M. Golding, Mary C Alexander, and Terri L. Stewart discuss how
jurors view hearsay witnesses and if the age of the hearsay witness effects their perception of the
credibility of hearsay witness. A study was done with male and female participants, who read a
fictional court case summary about a sexual assault. The court case summary involved a 7, 16, or 25
year old hearsay witness testifying on behalf of a 6 or 15 year old victim. (Golding, Alexander,
Stewart, 1999) The case included the testimony of one primary witness, a hearsay witness, or a
clinical psychologist. (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) The authors begin by explaining the
purpose of child hearsay testimonies and when hearsay witnesses are permitted, a child s words are
hearsay if (a) the child s words were intended by the child to describe something that happened, (b)
the child s words were spoken prior to the court proceeding at which the words are repeated by
someone who heard the child speak, and (c) the child s words are offered in court to prove that what
the child said actually happened. (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) hearsay isn t always permitted
in order to keep the trail from becoming unfair. The authors discuss different studies that have been
done on hearsay testimonies and whether these studies have shown hearsay to be reliable and
warranted. One study that is described ended with jurors believing the hearsay witness just as much as
the victim testifying on her own behalf, the reasons for this, as the article explains, is the mock jurors
may have seen the hearsay witness as a surrogate who is simply retelling the child s story (Golding,
Alexander, Stewart, 1999) second jurors may feel the need to punish someone because sexual assault
is seen as such a horrible crime, third the hearsay

Margaret Sanger s Stand Up For Birth Control Rights
Imagine being a married woman in your 30 s during the beginning of the twentieth century. You are
worn out from giving birth multiple times and you are desperate to know of a way to prevent yourself
from having more children. This was the exact case for millions of women in the twentieth century.
Women had no rights as a person, nor did they have any rights to their own bodies. In this era, the
topics of sexuality, sex or birth control were all taboo subject matters and never discussed between
married or un married couples. It wasn t until the year of 1912 that a woman by the name of Margaret
Sanger started her crusade to promote the right for women to use contraceptives to prevent unwanted
pregnancies. In this essay, I will discuss what inspired Margaret Sanger to stand up for birth control
rights. I will also explore the trials and legal issues that Sanger came up against. Lastly, I will talk
about the victory and the difference Sanger made for women in the twentieth century. Margaret Louise
Higgins (Sanger was her married name) was born in the year of 1879 in Corning, New York. She was
sixth of eleven children and was born into an Irish American family. Margaret knew at a very young
age that she wanted to make a difference to empower women and to leave her mark on the world.
Margaret was first inspired to go into the nursing field after witnessing her own mother die at the

Generic And Name Brand Drugs
While recent advancements in modern medicine have turned it into a field of competition between
generic and name brand drugs, these drugs show very slight differences in ability while they have a
large difference in price. The FDA is in charge of overseeing the creation of these generic and name
brand drugs. Too much diversity in their results is unacceptable to FDA so they keep a close watch on
the makeup and effectiveness of the drugs and how they impact the human body. Along with the
differences in their chemical makeups shown by the results of each drug there are the social issues that

Both of those companies were under another company called boots who, up until 1986, held the patent
rights to ibuprofen. After 1986 many generic brand labels began to produce ibuprofen. The rise in
generic ibuprofen completely shut out all but one of the name brand producers of ibuprofen as shown
by the disappearance of Nuprin. Generic drugs have destroyed the market for name brand drugs by
being cheaper and just as efficient When a generic drug product is approved, it has met rigorous
standards established by the FDA with respect to identity, strength, quality, purity, and potency.
However, some variability can and does occur during manufacturing, for both brand name and generic
drugs. When a drug, generic or brand name, is mass produced, very small variations in purity, size,
strength, and other parameters are permitted. FDA limits how much variability is acceptable (FDA).
This lack in difference of quality has allowed generic drugs to out sell many name brand drugs since
people understand that what they are buying are practically the same thing so why would they buy
anything more expensive. Generic manufacturers are able to sell their products for lower prices
because they are not required to repeat the costly clinical trials of new drugs and generally do not pay
for costly advertising, marketing, and promotion. In addition, multiple generic companies are often
approved to market a single product; this creates competition in the market place,

health concern or issue (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). The uninsured or underinsured population is at
risk for ineffective health maintenance as evidenced by the inability to identify, control, and/or seek
help to maintain health. Without further investigation of the 11.3% population of Grand Rapids
without insurance it is hard to know why they are without insurance, and this percentage only
represents the uninsured and no the underinsured. So we may be looking at an even larger population

Reviews of the Television Version of the Sound of Music Essay
First things first the television show Sound Of Music that was broadcasted in December 5th 2013 and
was broadcasted on national televison channel called NBC the producers name was Craig Zadan and
Neil Meron , the special had a cool cast such as a Carrie Underwood who stared in this show as Maria
von Trapp. It was performed and televised live all over the country from a film studio in Bethpage ,
New York. The history of the show was very interesting so far and how they had famous actors such
as Carrie Underwood , although there was criticism directly to Carrie Underwood who was casting in
the show as Maria , many said that Carrie did not have much experience to play such a big role as
Maria. It was said before that critics described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Woah thats a lot of von Trapps you might say well there is a lot of them. Not just that but also there is
credits to be credited including Rob Ashford and Beth Mccarthy Miller as directors. So many cast
members you also might say , but on September 16 , 2013 , NBC revealed the full cast of the special.
Want to know a little bit more about the history well in The Sound Of Music Live was broadcasted
live from a stage in Bethpage , New York in about a budget of 9 million dollars which was not much
you may think but one of the producers named Zadan considered it to be one of the profoundly
complicated , amazing experiences we ve ever had Zadan said. If you didnt know before The Sound
Of Music Live was aired as part of a push by NBC to air more live entertainment specials. As it was
said before that the Sound Of Music was broadcasted among programs such as Sunday Night football ,
the show got in those rankings of views which is incredible ; the sound of music was watched by
18.62 million viewers and had a 4.6 rating in the 18 49 demographic it was one of the most viewed
shows that was programmed at night.
Another topic that would be interesting to discuss would be on the sponsorships that The Sound Of
Music recieved by big companies that are seen in every corner and city. This sponsorship must of
helped a lot because this company is well known. The place that helped a lot

The Environmental Influence Of Alfred Hitchcock s Movie...
Throughout the course of history, films have been greatly influenced by the environment in which
they were made. Two examples of movies that were impacted due to the surrounding factors are
Alfred Hitchcock s The 39 Steps (1935) and Guy Hamilton s Goldfinger (1964). During the time that
The 39 Steps was being made, Britain s movie industry was mainly focused on documentaries,
historical dramas, and suspense. After the stock market crash of 1929 in America, Hollywood was still
working therefore Britain had to compete. They had formed the British International Pictures (BIP)
studio which was ultimately as important to Britain as UFA was to the U.S. Furthermore, Britain was
still in a hole after World War 1 and were still paying debts, so

Plastics of the 20th century should consider the health of the environment. Over the past 153 years

an evident impact of the environment. The Earth s ocean has 5.25 trillion pieces, which is equivalent
to 269,000 tons floating on the surface. Some of plastic is as small as 1cm2; this makes this every
difficult to reverse the already existing impact of humans. This large scale disaster also affects the
wildlife. 100,000 marine animals and 1 million birds have to suffer the consequence of plastic

Since the hydrolysis of PLA is influenced by the moisture and temperature present, it is possible to
accelerate the diffusion of water and therfore increase the hydrolysis or degradation of this polymer by
subjecting it to thermophilic temperatures above 50°C. These conditions aren t found naturally in the

Essay Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And The Story Of An Hour
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin have
similarities that include character traits, controversial feminist backgrounds, and time period; and their
differences, including setting, and the final fates for the women. Both written in the 19th century, the
stories confront patriarchal ideas of women and their relationships with their husbands. But their
differences main contrast is the country setting for The Yellow Wallpaper and the city setting for The
Story of an Hour and a slightly different end for the women. Both stories inherently feminist
backgrounds allow the stories to challenge society at the time. Both women s husbands are given
domineering personalities regardless of good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes that John took his wife away to a private estate far away from
others, meaning the setting is more rural. However, In The Story of an Hour, the setting is briefly
hinted at being more urban or suburban with one sentence, In the street below a peddler was crying his
wares. Because most peddlers stick to urban/suburban areas, it is appropriate to describe the setting as
such. While the next difference could be described as a similarity, it is important to note that while
both women s ends were tragic, they were in fact different. In the ending of the The Yellow Wallpaper,
Jane slips into psychosis. Jane s descent into to madness includes seeing women in the wallpaper,
which leads her to strip it down to free them, only to end with her believing that she is one of the
escape women herself. Yet in The Story of an Hour, after Mrs. Mallard sees her husband after the false
claim that he is dead, she has a heart attack. Ending in madness and death, both stories ends are tragic
for both women, but serve a purpose. Without these ends the stories full shock effect would not exist.
The purpose of the authors writing these stories was to trigger social change, and the stories needed
ends that showed how women s devalued status greatly affected

Homework In High School
Now onto fourth grade when old friends were leaving and new friends were arriving, and our
classroom moved to a different hall. Homework gradually became harder, tests and quizzes were
given every week, and don t forget the multiple projects we had to do. One project we had to do was
the State Project , and so I picked Missouri because that summer before I went to St. Louis. At this
point in my life I was still growing, in height, but I was literally a string bean (really skinny) and very
dysfunctional; that didn t stop me from playing basketball though. I was ok at basketball in the fourth
grade, but I was zooming down the court like a wild child, now a days I can barely make it down the
court without breathing really heavy. Oh boy, fifth grade was a doozy, I had Ms. Barker and let s just
say me and her didn t see eye to eye on a few things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barker will see you and move your seat to the very back of the classroom away from everyone else. At
that time I didn t find it funny because I was upset after the whole thing happened, but now I think it s
hilarious. During this year we were allowed to pick choir or band, and of course I thought band was
the coolest thing ever so I chose to be in band; but little did I know that I was gonna be stuck playing
the trombone, which didn t end very well. Ohhhh man and the memory verse quizzes were every week
and of course me at that age is going to procrastinate, like I do this very day,but yeah I got a 13 on a
memory verse quiz and that didn t go over well with my parents. Sixth grade we finally got to use a
bell schedule and move to different

Zechariah Research Paper
Kevin Alves Stone. OT302. Zechariah 11 12. Guided Essay.
What did you learn about the character or nature of God?
Zechariah: 11 12 God permitted the wicked shepherd to arise, to destroy the sheep. This happened
because they did not choose the Good Shepherd. In turn Israel will receive one who is foolish and who
will do absolutely the opposite of what is expected for shepherds. God will destroy all of the sheep.
The governors of Judah realized that God is fighting for them. He provides supernatural protection
from God to His people. When they see the enemies being confused and killing each other, they found
out that the God of Jerusalem is there to help them. The Lord will make the feeble like David, the
greatest soldier in Israel s history.

The Causes Of Maternal Mortality And Morbidity
It is estimated that 529, 000 maternal deaths occur globally every year in developing countries. The
probability that a woman will die during pregnancy is 400 per 100,000 live births. The risk is higher in
sub Saharan Africa with 1,000 per 100,000 live births. The death of a woman during pregnancy,
childbirth, or the postpartum period, is known as maternal mortality, occurs in 99% of all developing
countries (WHO, 2015).
According to the World Health Organization, the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity in Sub
Saharan Africa are mainly results of a defective health system when it comes to dealing with
complications during and after birth. The complications that contribute greatly to maternal mortality
include hemorrhage, infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortions, and obstructed labor. These
complications are the leading causes of death among women aged 15 to 49 in developing countries.
Kenya is a country that has been making a lot of progress in approaching some of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDG) and certain health indicators. However, reducing maternal mortality still
remains a challenge in this nation. The reason behind this slow progression results from the interaction
of social, cultural, economic and logistical barriers, combined with a high fertility rate (World Bank),
and inadequate and under funded health services (WHO). Strengthening the health system and
improving quality of healthcare delivery can overcome these challenges.

  • 2. The Lottery, And Mansfield s Third Person Perspectives A story is never without a point of view a perspective in which the story is foretold. This perspective can come in a variety of forms, from first person, second person, to third person, with each shaping the specifics and details of the background or characters of the tale. Further broken down into three categories is the third person perspective, which ranges from omniscient, objective, to limited. To understand the impact the differences in third person perspectives can make on a story and the reader s understanding of it, a closer look at the readings of Jackson s The Lottery in third person objective and Mansfield s Miss Brill in third person omniscient is in order. Overall, there s a similarity between the two perspectives in how they capture and convey obvious information within the story. However, the distinct disparity between the two becomes rather apparent as the actions of the characters become focused upon. Jackson, The Lottery. Third Person, Objective. Kids receive rocks. Mansfield, Miss Brill. Third Person, Omniscient. Drawing conclusions of individuals around her. Insight to her thoughts. Fundamentally, both the third person objective and third person omniscient have the ability to describe the actions and outward appearances of characters either known or unknown to the protagonist. In the story of Miss Brill, the readers are presented an imagery of an everyday Sunday morning through the description and focus of several different characters, from the ... Viral marketing can encourage customers to communicate with each other in order to offer product or brand under consideration. Viral marketing concept, which was first used by Steve Jurvetson and Tim Draper, is defined as a word of mouth marketing technique used in relation to a brand, product or service similar to the spread of viruses on social networks on electronic media (Comet, 2006; Dahan, 2012; cited in Akyol, 2013). In conclusion, viral marketing can be defined as a word of mouth marketing technique that use internet as a social networks media to spread information related to our products or brands. Viral marketing is different with other marketing strategies. The difference is that it has an authentic content that provokes individuals. Individuals share this creative content due to its authenticity on electronic social networks and thus, this content reaches millions of people by being communicated from one individual to another on social networks (Wilson, 2005; cited in Dahan, 2012). I was intrigued by the way my eye doctor was able to help me in maintaining a keen eyesight during each annual exam visit. Being able to see clearly is one of the most valuable assets to have when living in this world because not only does sight constitute the majority of our perception of things, it also allows us to form a closer connection with our surroundings. For this reason, I have chosen to become an optometrist and improve the vision of others so they, too, can truly see all the world has to offer. Such were the environmentalists rallying cries that brought about the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although, the first official endangered species legislation was a 1966 bill that called for saving U.S. wildlife, but lacked the powers to do so. The Endangered Species Act(ESA) of 1973 set forth the basic rules that apply in the U.S. today. By adopting the Endangered Species Act, Americans have adopted a simple value theory, when it comes to dealing with other life forms. This theory is simply pleasure is good and pain is evil. According to this theory, under the Endangered Species Act, the extinction of any species that would bring pain to ourselves is to be saved and those that do not hamper our consciences can be done away with. This is evident from the modern viewpoint of the caretakers and enforcers of the Endangered Species Act, the Fish Wildlife Services. According to them the Endangered Species Act of 1973, holds that endangered and threatened species of animal and plants are of esthetics, ecological, educational, historical, recreational, and scientific value to the nation and its people (Fish Wildlife Service,1989). Even advertisements and public educational programs to save endangered species, only point out the value of certain species to mankind. Nowhere is it said that a species should be preserved for intrinsic values and its right to exist in the world. For example, the most famous of the American listed endangered species is the Bald Eagle, our nation s symbol. The loss of these birds would have been painful to our ego and national pride. The main character s name in The Last Man on Earth is Robert Morgan, while it is Robert Neville in The Omega Man . The Last Man on Earth is placed in 1968 and The Omega Man is placed in 1975. The symptoms of the disease are different in the films. Morgan lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a plague that has turned them into vampire like creatures that cannot stand sunlight, fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. They would kill Morgan, but they are weak and unintelligent. In The Omega Man, the plague effects its victims in a different way. It turns them into an albino mutant group called The Family. Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment God Answers the Questions Presented by Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment In Dostoevsky s novels pain and some heavy burden of the inevitability of human suffering and helplessness form Russia. And he depicts it not with white gloves on, nor through the blisters of the peasant, but through people who are close to him and his realities: city people who either have faith, or secular humanists who are so remote from reality that even when they love humanity they despise humans because of their own inability to achieve or to create paradise on earth. That is not the love that is directed towards the humanity as a whole, but towards the individual: Strive to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably (II, 4). For Dostoevsky such love is a false one and he presents it through such characters as Rakitin, Perkhotin and even Luzhin: Consciousness of life is superior to life, knowledge of the laws of happiness is superior to happiness that is what we must fight against. (The Dream of a Ridiculous Man , p. 382) One of greatest evils for Dostoevsky are the so called liberals who love humanity more than an individual man. Yet he does not represent their behavior as genuinely evil . Their hate towards humanity arises exactly from the opposite: love. Secular humanists see so much evil, crime and inhumanity, they cannot stop it so they rebel. Ivan Karamazov and his rebellion are purely of that kind. He is not vile, he just cannot understand that there might be a solution for such suffering, especially in the case of children who are innocent in Christianity. That is why Ivan asks: Love life more than the meaning of it? (II, 3) Ivan as any average intellectual, wants to know. To know the meaning of life for him is more important than to actually do something about the human suffering. Ivan forgets that one human life is as important as the entire humanity. For him humanity is merely an abstraction which happen to be surrounding him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the fictional letter, Dave Berry teaches his grandson life s lesson beginning with the ketchup, Dave Berry uses high comedy in the form of hyperboles and sarcasm to prove that just because many people believe something, that does not make them right. • 9. Federal Jurisdiction Essay Federal Jurisdiction Abstract In this paper I will discuss a case involving Henry, a resident of Nevada, who sued Adam, a resident of Utah in the Federal Court in California. Henry sought $60,000 damages for personal injuries arising from an automobile accident that occurred in Los Angeles, California. I will answer the following questions about this case. Does the Federal Court have jurisdiction? What rules of procedure will the court use? Why? And what rules of substantive law will the court use? One of the most essential questions of law is whether a given court has jurisdiction to preside over a given case. Jurisdiction means the power to hear a case. Many courts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A federal court would not have jurisdiction. The plaintiff would have to find a subordinate court to rule on the case, following laws appropriate to where the occurrence happened. Since the occurrence happened in LA, the defendant can be sued there. Because the defendant resides in Utah, he could be sued there as well. Depending on the specific structure of the Utah, California, and Nevada state s court system, trial courts may be city/municipal courts, justice of the peace, county/circuit courts, or even regional trial courts. Unless the defendant could be served while moving through Nevada, California would probably be the best place to initially file. Given the conditions of this case, specific trial would most likely be conducted in a California trial court or the defendant s home jurisdiction, The plaintiff may find one or the other more suitable. In my opinion, selection of the defendant s home town as the venue would likely be less beneficial to the plaintiff. Rules of Procedure If parties are involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, he or she will usually file a lawsuit in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. This is because this typically falls under the authority or jurisdiction of state courts in the county where the injury happened, or where persons involved in the occurrence are located. The rules of procedure for this case would most likely follow California s Civil Procedures. The Civil Code of California ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The gospels each tell their versions of his life. Of the four, I found the gospel of Mark to be the most interesting. I enjoy the style of writing in this gospel more than the others. I feel it gives a better summary of the events in Christ s life. Whereas the other gospels tend to get bogged down with parables or spend too much time on specific events, the gospel of Mark moves along at a good pace and adequately gets the message across. A majority of Mark deals with Christ s travels throughout the area around the Sea of Galilee and the various miracles he performed during that time. Most of these involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a beautifully written passage. Without coming out and saying, it, Christ makes it apparent that it s not enough to merely worship; one must also go out and preach to the unsaved and try to help them see the light. Another parable tells of the rich young man who asks Christ how he may attain the kingdom of God. Christ asks if he as followed the Ten Commandments, and the young man says he has. Then Christ tells him that he has to give all his possessions to the poor because he will have no need of such things in Heaven. This saddens the young man because he has many possessions. After the young man left, Christ told his disciples that it is difficult for the rich to get into Heaven because they put too much faith into their riches. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God, (Mark 10:25). This is a poignant message. Christ then says that a man who gives up everything for his faith will be well rewarded in Heaven. This parable is timeless. It speaks of the downfall greed can force upon you. In the end, no matter how much you have, you can t take it with you. One of the most widely told stories of Jesus is written in Mark. • 11. The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau-Banks Setting always plays a major part in writing. An work is based around a conflict, that s just how writing operates naturally; and since setting manipulates the conflict in a story, everything can change simply due to where it takes place. A great example of this is The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks , where the plot develops around the setting in which it takes place. Due to the fact that The Disreputable History takes place entirely in a boarding school, the conflict can change unpredictably because the characters lives revolve around Alabaster Preparatory Academy . She wished she hadn t broken this stupid rule. She wished Matthew would come and rescue her. Or when she thinks: Why on Earth could she have done such a dumb thing? This is a fairly common example of man vs society , it s also a sign of the panopticon theory (the feeling of being watched even though you aren t). The setting of a crowded lunchroom is what illuminates this conflict, this is because she s sitting alone, yet she s surrounded by a lot of people. • 12. What Is Hieronymus Bosch Owls For my final project I chose Hieronymus Bosch, more specifically I decided to focus on his use of owls in his paintings. Bosch was a very interesting dude and his paintings are weird. People who have minds like Bosch fascinate me. My mind doesn t work like that and I find it very interesting and I can t even imagine what kinds of conversations Bosch had with his fellow artist at the time. Another reason why I chose to look into the owls is because I love owls. I always knew that owls symbolize with wisdom and knowledge and erudition that can see through obscurity (and as the bird of Athena/Minerva, the goddess of wisdom), the owl appears frequently in the emblems of scholarly publishing houses and book stores (Biedermann, 250) but Bosch gives his owls different symbolic meanings. ... In Christianity, on one hand, owl depicted as Christ, and on the other hand, owl depicted as sinners, With their nocturnal habits, solitude, silent flight, and plaintive cry, owls came to symbolize a turning away from spiritual light or, conversely, Jesus Christ in the night of suffering and death (Biedermann, 250). In The Looking Glass Wars, Frank Beddor uses conflict to transform Alyss from a mischievous, endearing, and naive girl to a fond of, praised, and comfortable young woman so that she can defeat Redd and take back the Heart Queendom. In the beginning of the novel, Princess Alyss is characterized as mischievous, endearing, and naive. Alyss loves to play pranks such as dropping jollyjellies from an open window and watching them splat on the guards below (Beddor 11). Instead of behaving like a proper princess, she prefers getting into trouble with her best friend, Dodge. However, her pranks are never mean spirited; Alyss just enjoys having fun. Although Alyss is mischievous, her father finds Alyss to be a delightful creature (Beddor 19). When leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Somatic anxiety is anxiety provoked by bodily symptoms of tension such as butterflies in the stomach while cognitive anxiety is provoked by mental concerns or worry which is supported by Cassidy and Johnson (2002) that cognitive anxiety was able to accurately reflect the experience of highly anxious students during testing situations. The formation of cognitive maps, which serve as internal representations of the world, are dependent upon the human capacities for vision and visual perception (1). Under normal viewing conditions, changes produce transient signals that can draw attention. Machiavelli does not directly condemn those who study and espouse the ideal; he condemns them for failing to study the real as well and claims that this oversight will lead to their ruin. In other words, hope for the best and plan for the worst, a quite depressingly, realistic world view. One of the most colorful analogies that Machiavelli makes is when he describes the teacher of Achilles. A brilliant example of man s inherent paradox, Chiron, the centaur, was significant to Machiavelli because he was half man and half beast making the argument that one without the other has no lasting effect. As the lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves, you have to be a fox in order to be wary of traps, and a lion to overawe the wolves. Those who try to live by the lion alone are badly mistaken (228). According to Machiavelli the lion represents the beast, proud and powerful but vulnerable. The fox represents the aspect of man Machiavelli values most, the ability to deceive. This is yet another example of Machiavelli looking down on man, he takes what in his opinion is man s greatest ability and compares it to an animal that does it better. Stewart discuss how jurors view hearsay witnesses and if the age of the hearsay witness effects their perception of the credibility of hearsay witness. A study was done with male and female participants, who read a fictional court case summary about a sexual assault. The court case summary involved a 7, 16, or 25 year old hearsay witness testifying on behalf of a 6 or 15 year old victim. (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) The case included the testimony of one primary witness, a hearsay witness, or a clinical psychologist. (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) The authors begin by explaining the purpose of child hearsay testimonies and when hearsay witnesses are permitted, a child s words are hearsay if (a) the child s words were intended by the child to describe something that happened, (b) the child s words were spoken prior to the court proceeding at which the words are repeated by someone who heard the child speak, and (c) the child s words are offered in court to prove that what the child said actually happened. (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) hearsay isn t always permitted in order to keep the trail from becoming unfair. The authors discuss different studies that have been done on hearsay testimonies and whether these studies have shown hearsay to be reliable and warranted. One study that is described ended with jurors believing the hearsay witness just as much as the victim testifying on her own behalf, the reasons for this, as the article explains, is the mock jurors may have seen the hearsay witness as a surrogate who is simply retelling the child s story (Golding, Alexander, Stewart, 1999) second jurors may feel the need to punish someone because sexual assault is seen as such a horrible crime, third the hearsay ... When a drug, generic or brand name, is mass produced, very small variations in purity, size, strength, and other parameters are permitted. FDA limits how much variability is acceptable (FDA). This lack in difference of quality has allowed generic drugs to out sell many name brand drugs since people understand that what they are buying are practically the same thing so why would they buy anything more expensive. Generic manufacturers are able to sell their products for lower prices because they are not required to repeat the costly clinical trials of new drugs and generally do not pay for costly advertising, marketing, and promotion. In addition, multiple generic companies are often approved to market a single product; this creates competition in the market place, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Environmental Influence Of Alfred Hitchcock s Movie... Throughout the course of history, films have been greatly influenced by the environment in which they were made. Two examples of movies that were impacted due to the surrounding factors are Alfred Hitchcock s The 39 Steps (1935) and Guy Hamilton s Goldfinger (1964). During the time that The 39 Steps was being made, Britain s movie industry was mainly focused on documentaries, historical dramas, and suspense. After the stock market crash of 1929 in America, Hollywood was still working therefore Britain had to compete. They had formed the British International Pictures (BIP) studio which was ultimately as important to Britain as UFA was to the U.S. Furthermore, Britain was still in a hole after World War 1 and were still paying debts, so ... • 43. Essay Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And The Story Of An Hour The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin have similarities that include character traits, controversial feminist backgrounds, and time period; and their differences, including setting, and the final fates for the women. Both written in the 19th century, the stories confront patriarchal ideas of women and their relationships with their husbands. But their differences main contrast is the country setting for The Yellow Wallpaper and the city setting for The Story of an Hour and a slightly different end for the women. Both stories inherently feminist backgrounds allow the stories to challenge society at the time. Both women s husbands are given domineering personalities regardless of good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes that John took his wife away to a private estate far away from others, meaning the setting is more rural. However, In The Story of an Hour, the setting is briefly hinted at being more urban or suburban with one sentence, In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. Because most peddlers stick to urban/suburban areas, it is appropriate to describe the setting as such. While the next difference could be described as a similarity, it is important to note that while both women s ends were tragic, they were in fact different. In the ending of the The Yellow Wallpaper, Jane slips into psychosis. Jane s descent into to madness includes seeing women in the wallpaper, which leads her to strip it down to free them, only to end with her believing that she is one of the escape women herself. Yet in The Story of an Hour, after Mrs. Mallard sees her husband after the false claim that he is dead, she has a heart attack. Ending in madness and death, both stories ends are tragic for both women, but serve a purpose. Without these ends the stories full shock effect would not exist. The purpose of the authors writing these stories was to trigger social change, and the stories needed ends that showed how women s devalued status greatly affected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Causes Of Maternal Mortality And Morbidity It is estimated that 529, 000 maternal deaths occur globally every year in developing countries. The probability that a woman will die during pregnancy is 400 per 100,000 live births. The risk is higher in sub Saharan Africa with 1,000 per 100,000 live births. The death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth, or the postpartum period, is known as maternal mortality, occurs in 99% of all developing countries (WHO, 2015). According to the World Health Organization, the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity in Sub Saharan Africa are mainly results of a defective health system when it comes to dealing with complications during and after birth. The complications that contribute greatly to maternal mortality include hemorrhage, infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortions, and obstructed labor. These complications are the leading causes of death among women aged 15 to 49 in developing countries. Kenya is a country that has been making a lot of progress in approaching some of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and certain health indicators. However, reducing maternal mortality still remains a challenge in this nation. The reason behind this slow progression results from the interaction of social, cultural, economic and logistical barriers, combined with a high fertility rate (World Bank), and inadequate and under funded health services (WHO). Strengthening the health system and improving quality of healthcare delivery can overcome these challenges. BURDEN ON HEALTH ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
