Sexism Essay
An everlasting Conflict
Sexism is categorized by extreme cases, but when in reality, both female and male parties execute
sexism everyday even in the simplest forms. Though women tend to receive more grieve when it
comes to sexist acts or sexist slurs made by men, the level of sexist disputes has decreases drastically
with time. The play Trifles displays the major difference is the mindset of the split sexes. The setting
presents a time when women were belittled and not taken seriously. Susan Glaspell s play is evidence
on the progress our society has made concerning sexism, never less the ever existing conflict still
takes its toll in our everyday life. Sexism by definition is discrimination by members of one sex
against the other; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, women s bodies are used to sell products, or portray a perfect image of how men want their
women, but women must voluntarily advertize their own bodies. Some females may considered sexy
or racy photos and commercials to be degrading, but those women choosing to do so can find it very
empowering. They not only feel confident but they are becoming something that men swoon over and
yearn for; ergo creating a sense of authority. Sexism runs rampant in every facet of our society.
The story of Trifles exposes the sexism that women dealt with then, and still to some extent deal with
today. The men show major examples of diminishing and downplaying the women s intelligence when
ignoring them throughout examining the crime scene. Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale find incriminating
evidence against Minnie, but the men never think to ask them their opinion; they are too preoccupied
searching for solid tangible, evidence. Although the women find evidence to believe Minnie is the
killer, I believe they feel somewhat responsible for her. This concluding that both genders are
somewhat sexist. The men on the husband s side, and the women on Minnie s side. Perception differs
with their gender. While the men look for something to show anger, or sudden feeling , something
more obvious; the messy kitchen is labeled as bad housekeeping, instead of being used as evidence.
The clues are presented but their male perception enables the men from seeing them. (Glaspell s)

Amy Snatched Research Paper
So I saw Trainwreck with Amy Schumer a few years ago and much like everyone else I thought it was
pretty good. Fortunately, I think people are finally waking up to the fact that Amy Schumer is a one
trick pony and that trick has gotten really old really fast. After she blamed Alt Right trolls for her
comedy special flopping a couple of months back it will interesting to hear the excuse for this critical
flop Snatched. Schumer plays an emotionally immature woman pushing 40 (stop me if you have heard
that before) who needs to find a person to go to Ecuador with after her boyfriend dumps her. When no

What Is The Purpose Of The Odyssey
Provide significant details about the author (120 1): Homer
Homer, the author of The Odyssey , was believed to be blind. ( Homer )
Homer s writings were used to teach Greek students how to read in school (Beers 120).
Style5 conventions (121) The 5 conventions Homer uses in his writing are invocation
(invoking action), in medias res (middle of action), epic similes (comparing heroic events to events in
everyday life), metrical structure (6 syllables per line so a passage will be easier for a speaker to
memorize), and stock epithets (descriptive adjective) (Beers 121).
Philosophies Greeks believed in many gods, and due to Homer s blindness, many people believed that
Homer had godlike abilities. This is because it was said by philosophers that after losing one sense
other abilities became stronger, which meant that Homer s other senses had become godlike (Beers
120). Every time the Greeks found something that they didn t understand they created a God to
explain the phenomenon (Massa). The main gods that appear in The Odyssey are Zeus, the god of the
Sky, who saves Odysseus multiple times, Poseidon, the god of the ocean, who holds resentment
toward Odysseus, Hades, the god of the Underworld, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, justice, war,
civilization, and peace, and Hermes, the god of mischief, who saves Odysseus many times but fools
around with him first. (Massa).
Criticism I believe that Homer was criticized for the possible inaccuracy in his stories. Homer was

Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple
Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially
with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines,
even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However,
essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments. In
her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple
accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use of
asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her. Detailing her
life before her diagnosis, Nancy Mairs lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She recalls the beginning stages of the condition, when she started to trip and drop things (p2). It was
new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular basis.
Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either. Rather than
resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and, impatient with
limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way and forces rest (p5).
She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man doesn t have to put up
with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her, Mairs still considers herself
lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my losses, but the terrain left me has
been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities that absorb me (p4). She suggests that
things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs
demonstrates that she still looks forward to other specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she
shows persistence and willingness to adjust her lifestyle as the disease

You may or may not add lemon juice or sweetened honey depending on your taste buds.
e. Drink the ginger tea for several times a day until your symptoms have been alleviated and the
laryngitis is treated.
Using ginger during pregnancy is not yet fully established as safe since there are some controversies
which involve miscarriage in the 12th week of pregnancy as well as the possibility that it can affect
fetal sex hormones. People who are breastfeeding, have bleeding disorders, heart conditions and
diabetes must avoid using ginger.
5. Warm salt water. A warm salt water is the easiest laryngitis treatment. The warm salt water is good
in killing bacteria that may cause the inflammation. It also helps in the healing process of the inflamed
vocal cords.
a. Mix ½ tsp of salt in a cup of warm water.
b. Use the mixture to gargle, and do this several times a day for best results.
Warm salt water is usually safe as long as it is not ingested. However, once ingested, it can pose
dangers to people with weak or diseased kidneys, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, edema
and stomach or intestinal disease.

Cotton Mather s Inoculation
I chose to read the poem titled Inoculation and it conveys a theme of the role of puritan religion times
that ties sin with disease. In the opening sentence of the poem you can infer that choosing to study
disease over sin was not the social norm in the duration of this time period, the speaker stated, Cotton
Mather studied small pox for a while, instead of sin. Boston was rife with it. During the Puritan
period, the majority of the populations scrutiny was revolved around sin, ultimately neglecting the
devastating impending epidemics. The title of the poem Inoculation which defines as vaccination and
in the eyes of a Puritan, by accepting a vaccination you were defying God and committing a sin. A

Comparing The Flea and Valentine Essay
Comparing The Flea and Valentine
The flea is a metaphysical poem about a man trying to argue a virgin into bed to have sexual
intercourse with him. This poem was most likely written to amuse the readers and probably more for a
larger male audience. The poem was written in the late 17th century in a period where sex within
marriage was like a household chore, but socially, sex before marriage was like a sin, because society
was extremely religious. John Donne is attempting to get these thoughts out of her head and persuade
her to have sex with him.
Metaphysical poets use a lot of elaborate and extended comparisons.
They wrote energetic and vigorous poems that went against the common literature of the time.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poet points out that losing her virginity is not a sin.
A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead
He tries to reverse her views that both society and herself share. He is very persuasive in this poem
and uses the flea many times as a symbol of their sexual union and uses many metaphors. He uses
many sly phrases also which could easily win his argument and I feel it is making her feel guilty and
starting to make her confused and think about the prospects of them having sex.
I think that during the end of the first stanza the poet starts to become quite theatrical.
Yet this enjoys it before it woo, And pamper d swells in one blood made of two; And this, alas! Is
more than we would do.
This could be referring to sex. The flea enjoys the blood and so does the man enjoy foreplay. The
pamper d swells could be that of sexual organs before sex and yet, because that is not happening, the
flea is having a better time at the moment than he is, by sucking their blood.
I think that by using this comparison, John Donne is being very intellectual and at this point I feel he
may win his argument.
The second stanza, John Donne becomes weaker as the girl starts to defend herself and he tries to
convey his love for her.
John Donne, in this stanza I feel becomes more intimate and uses alliteration and much more poetic
techniques. At the beginning of the second stanza, I would assume that the girl has got up and left him.

and making all the clothes. Men usually travelled long distances to catch food. These were the family
roles of the Eastern Woodland people.
Homes The Eastern Woodlands didn t live in apartment building or houses like we do now. Instead,
most would live in dome shaped Wigwams . While others would live in Concial Wigwams similar to
the plain tipis . It was always the women s job to set up and take down the Wigwams . The Wigwams

bark and layers of the wood for protection against precipitation and the wind. Inside of the Wigwam
was a rock fire pit to keep the family warm. This is where the Eastern Woodlands lived.

Andres Acosta Biography
My father s coworker and close friend, Andres Acosta, is a production foreman for a company called
SM Energy. One of their facilities is located in Catarina, Texas, about 20 miles from his home, Carrizo
Springs, Texas. Andres is the oldest amongst his two siblings, one brother and sister. His father was
rarely in his life, so he balanced school and help raising his siblings. He provided a great father figure
to his siblings, and always watched over them. His character as a supporting person to others
developed when he was young, and stuck with him to this day, and believes it is one of the key
reasons why he is successful. He graduated Carrizo Springs High School in 2006 with Honors and the

Every foreman is assigned to receive individual reports from about 180 220 oil wells, and view their
production rates. After viewing these reports, Andres compares approximate numbers that each oil
well is projected to produce financially, and compare those numbers to the recent production rates. If a
well is not functioning up to the expected progress to meet the set financial goals, it is the foreman s
job to notify the operators to fix the situation. Andres uses a total approximated income number to
examine if his whole route is producing on quota. If an oil well is significantly producing more water
than oil/natural gas, than the production service of that well should try to be optimized the best they
can because SM Energy makes money from selling fossil fuels, not water. All wells require money to
be operated, so if a well is not making much money, then it should not be worth investing in if it is not

Guantanamo Bay And The War Of Terror
Guantanamo Bay
As Nelson Mandela once said, To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.
Guantánamo bay, Cuba is the home of the oldest U.S naval station base out of the continental U.S. The
United States invaded Guantánamo bay and established a base during the Spanish American war (
Guantanamo... 2008, par. 2). After the attack on the twin towers on September 11, 2001, the base s
mission expanded to include the Detainee Mission of the War of Terror ( Guantanamo... 2008, par. 5).
Many issues have risen because of this detention facility. The detainees held at the facility have to and
had to face many challenges. The government took away their human rights and treats these detainees
very harshly. Currently, there are still detainees held at Guantánamo bay. However, some actions have
occurred to stop these inhumane actions, but there have not been enough to close the facility down.
Interrogation Techniques Detainees held at Guantanamo bay are all interrogated and later classified as
an enemy combatant^1. As each detainee is interrogated, several techniques were used. Some
examples of torture techniques used at Guantanamo are Sexual Assault/ Humiliation Sleep

Theoretical And Ethical Basis Of Practice
Theoretical and Ethical Basis of Practice
Nursing theories and ethical principles serve as the foundation of nursing practice, education, and
research (Colley, 2003; Antipuesto, 2011). This paper s purpose is to elaborate on author s discussion
of her phenomenon of interest (POI) on newborn screening for Critical Congenital Heart Defects
(CCHD). The objectives of this paper are to relate the metaparadigm of nursing to the POI, select and
discuss a grand nursing theory and a middle range theory that can be applied to the POI, examine the
POI as it relates to the complexity science framework, and to distinguish ethical principles that apply
to the POI.
Newborn Screening for Critical Congenital Heart Defects Critical Congenital Heart Defect (CCHD) is
a subgroup of congenital heart defects that normally necessitates surgical intervention or
catheterization procedure during the neonatal period (Good, Canale, Goodman, Yeager, 2015).
According to Mahle et al. (2009), although there are measures taken to detect CCHD like prenatal
ultrasound and comprehensive newborn physical examination during newborn s birth hospitalization,
there is still a significant percentage of newborns with CCHD that is left undetected and discharged
home without being diagnosed. Delay in diagnosis of CCHD increases morbidity and mortality
(Mahle et al., 2009). In response to this, Riede et al. (2010) mentioned that the diagnostic gap in
CCHD could be bridged by screening newborns using pulse oximetry

Aesthetic Judgement Kant
kant contends that it is our workforce of judgment that empowers us to have involvement of beauty
and handle those encounters as a major aspect of a requested, regular world with purpose.
Kant trusts he can demonstrate that aesthetic judgment isn t on a very basic level unique in relation to
customary hypothetical discernment of nature, and he trusts he can demonstrate that aesthetic
judgment has a profound likeness to moral judgment. For these two reasons, Kant claims he can
exhibit that the physical and moral universes and the rationalities and types of felt that present them

Kant also goes on to explain Aesthetic judgment along these lines includes purposiveness, in that it

Kant contends that aesthetic judgment is constituted by the failure for effectively being able to relate
to an idea. In this manner, the aesthetic judgment does not have a reason or a purpose. This implies
our creative ability, given the complex of sensation constituting the aesthetic object, is set into free
play since it never winds up being compelled by an idea when it assesses the question. Also, that is the
source of the intellectual delight Kant claims is constitutive of aesthetic judgment. That is the reason
we encounter joy when we look at a beautiful sunset, perfect human figure, or a masterpiece we can t

Oppression In Lolita
In Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Humbert Humbert is a disgusting pedophile who took Lolita s self
worth as he realizes his mistake as he is locked in prison until he dies. People are mistreated every
day, but still rely on the abuser. Lolita may seem like a victim but she is really in control of everything
which is seen in her controlling where they go, her manipulation of Humbert, and leaving right as
soon as Humbert was not of any use to her.
Reading through the story, people will think or see that Lolita is an innocent little girl who is a victim
of Humbert. She was just a child who knew nothing (43). She is seen as any other child who likes to
play around and goes around doing what they want, not knowing anything. Doing things that she ...

he was her mother s husband (147). She wanted to escape from him and when she had the chance

life she wanted and she knows that she does not deserve the life she is having. By starting over would
mean she will have a happy life and she thought she did when her and Humbert began their extensive
travel all over the States (102). The life she wanted was showing and that is why she did everything
that Humbert wanted him to do and she thought it would work out like she thought. By travelling, she
will be able to go to places and will see where she wanted to go live at and start the life she wanted.
She is like that, because of how Humbert is firmly resolved to pursue my policy of sparing her purity
(89). She notices that Humbert treats her as an object instead of an individual and she does not like
that, that is why she is trying to get away from him. Trying to get away from Humbert is a first step
for her, so she can find a new person who can actually treat her like she deserve it and will treat her
like a person. This is why Lolita is the way she is, because she knows her childhood is being ruined by

Topic Selection Microsoft recently unveiled its prototype, Surface, their version of a tablet or
alternative device to a personal computer. It is questionable how Microsoft, a known software

against devices such as the iPad. Thesis: It is critical that Microsoft produce a device that overcomes
the limitations of its competitors and adds features that set it apart, in order to define itself in the tablet

Microsoft sees that Apple is world class in what they do. Microsoft has little choice but to do what
they must to make sure someone has world class hardware in the Windows camp. (Ray, 2012)
Microsoft has not had a competitor for the iPad since Apple released the original version in 2010.
Windows 8, which is to be available to consumers this fall, has been the company s hope to compete
against Apple s dominance in the tablet market. Apple sold 3 million of its new iPad s in the first three
days after its launch (Stern, 2012).
Along with determination, innovation, and advantages is the recognition that Microsoft can do some
very stupid and self defeating things. But the company has been in the tablet space for decades. In
fact, you could argue that one reason Apple knew what would work is because Microsoft did so much
of the advance work to eliminate what wouldn t. It may finally have gotten many of the mistakes out
of its collective system (Sherman, 2012). Ballmer said the company took its time with the tablets,
working quietly on its new machines to work out all the details. We took the time to get Windows 8
and Surface right, he said (Stern, 2012).
The company still faces big odds. Competing with itsown hardware partners could prove sticky, at
best. (Sherman, 2012) Sherlund

Aristotle and Hobbes Ideas about the Origin and Purpose of Political Life
From the very ancient times political life was formed by groups of people who were having different
thoughts and ideas about how to rule or how to control others and their properties. As long as that
happened, the differences had led to misunderstanding and chaos among the tribes and as now called
politics. Each political community formed, a different problem came to life. All this was a way to
undercover the best ways of ruling and leading others in places all around the world. The first place
that appeared to be like a political community was households. Then it turned to bigger and stronger
establishments that human being had never thought of before. One of the structures which was formed

The Diplomatic Reasons Behind The Atomic Bombs
The atomic bombs were dropped with purpose of solving diplomatic reasons and to inevitably make
Japan surrender. The diplomatic goals the US had at the time was to prevent Russia from joining the

from claiming land in Japan and spreading communist influence throughout Asia. So in order to
impede the potential spread of Russian influence and communism in post

The Japanese people had a mentality of total war and if a conventional war were to be brought to their
homeland, the Japanese were ready and prepared to fight, which would have resulted in many

prolonging of the war. Rather than spending months, even years, fighting a war in Japan and suffering
many more losses, the prospect of simply dropping a bomb over Japan and ending the war was more
appealing (Wainstock 73). Truman wanted to minimize the amount of time needed to force an
unconditional surrender because Russia was to join the fight against Japan within 90 days after VE

Latin America Metaphors
Solitude is more than a state of being alone; it is recognizing the fact that the individuals whom one
introduces to their environment will never learn to accept their differences. It is being aware that
positive things will never be satisfiable enough to gratify those around you. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a
Colombian author, illustrated the ideal picture of solitude in Latin America though his words he
expressed in his Nobel Prize speech. Gabriel Marquez lived his childhood in a small isolated town in
Columbia alongside his grandparents. Marquez was rudely denied a VISA to the United States due to
his thoughts about the U.S military. However, Marquez was still able to publish and sell millions of
copies of his novel 100 Years of Solitude which later became the second most read book in Latin
America, following the Bible. In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Nobel Prize speech, The Solitude of Latin
America, he uses the term solitude as a metaphor for Latin America through negative stereotypes from
other countries and Latin America s geographic isolation.
Initially, Latin America endures solitude as a result from the negative stereotypes they face from other
countries based on inferred connotations from past actions. The chief faction that interrogates Latin
America for their differences are the Europeans leaders who Have thought so, with the childishness of

reputation as being an influence on creationism among people he met (Numbers, p. 89). His father
died when George was very young and his mother joined an SDA church on the aftermath of the
Millerite movement and during this period was when Ellen G White began having her visions and
Seventh day Adventism was becoming known as Bible people (Numbers, p.89 90). Ellen G White
support creationism by endorsing that Noah s flood did happen and that it change the world s surface
and buried fossils which helped formed mountains, hills and trees (Numbers, p. 90). Price, married an
Adventist lady who was twelve years older than him, he had a job selling books, but then decided to
go to Battle Creek College to get an education in teaching, but he ran out of funds which force him to
work as a bookseller again but in 1897, he got a job working as a teacher at Tracadie (Numbers p. 91).
This was my first time learning about George Price, I was shocked to read that he married someone
twelve years older than him. Price was a strong believer and supporter of Creationism but he made
friends with people who were not like Dr. Alfred Smith, who got him to research evolution (Numbers,
p. 91). As a result of his many years of research, Price published a 271 page book on the cons of
evolution and the development of Darwinism (Numbers p. 92 93). Price even worked as a pastor on
Prince Edward Island but got

Hydraulic Jum Experiment Report
It is observed that the conjugate depth ratio of both the recorded and theoretical results increases
uniformly with the increase in the Froude number for all slopes tested. It is also evident from the
graphs that as the upstream Froude Number increases i.e. moves toward more supercritical flow, the
ratio of the D2/D1 i.e. ratio of the downstream depth to the upstream depth also increases. It is also
evident from the graphs that approximately 97% to 100% of the calculated results all lie within the ±
10% of line of best fit for each curve. As well, each of the graphs verifies a strong positive linear
relationship between the dimensionless jump height and the upstream Froude Number.
These results imply that a more supercritical upstream flow in D1, will produce a larger downstream
depth, D2, and thus a larger hydraulic jump. The results of the experiment confirm the following
relationships
a. D2/D1 1, the depth increases across the jump so that D2 D1
b. F2 1, downstream flow must be subcritical
c. F1 1, upstream flow must be supercritical
It is observed that length of the jump Lj/D2 ratio also increases with increasing F1 values
exponentially. However it must be noted that it is difficult to derive a purely theoretical expression for
the Jump length which at the present moment is done by comparing experimental data using statistical
methods.
The results also show that a stable hydraulic jump can only form when the three independent
parameters D1, D2 and F

Summary Of Jimmy Santiago Baca
As a person who came from another country to the USA. learning how to read and write wasn t easy.
At the beginning, I found it so hard to read and write I would sit for a long time trying to read one
page and most of the time I didn t understand what was it about. writing one complete sentence was
very difficult I had to learn read and write for that reason I feel that I have a lot of similarity with
Jimmy Santiago who also had a hard time reading and writing and he had to teach himself how to read
and write. I have a lot of similarity with Jimmy Santiago Baca. Jimmy Santiago was born in poor
Mexican Family. His dad was addicted to alcohol and his Mom left him when he was a kid because of
the financial problem they were facing and married a rich man. Regardless the struggles that Jimmy
Santiago Baca faced he was able to cope with them by teaching himself how to write poems. Jimmy
found a place for him in the community and he felt that by writing poems he was able to connect with
people. He found a place to stand. A place that he was always searching for and he mentioned that in
his book, A Place to Stand The Making of a poet. by saying, I was searching for something to make
me feel more a part of the world, I couldn t share with anyone the pain that still drove my exploration
to find a place to stand comfortably in my skin. , also, he was able to get rid of his anger that he was
born with wrong skin color. reading, writing, and becoming a poet helped Jimmy Santiago get

Regionalism in Canada
Regionalism is a political ideology based on a collective sense of place or attachment, and is discussed
in terms of Canadian society, culture, economy and politics (Westfall, 3). Canada is known
internationally as a nation incorporating several multiregional interests and identities into its
unification of culture. Its diverse population is comprised of numerous ethnicities, religions, sexual
orientations and traditions; and all resides under one federal government. Ever since the founding of
Canada, it has developed into regional cleavages and identities, based on various geographical
topologies, lifestyles and economic interests (Westfall, 6). It is these characteristics which make it
problematic for the federal government to represent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central provinces of Canada, Ontario and Quebec, are represented by 60% of the seats in the
House of Commons and just under half the seats in the Senate. It is quite clear that the insufficiency of
regional representation is such a controversial matter. An unelected Senate that no longer fulfils its
mandate, and a House of Commons strongly influenced by provinces in ratio to their population, the
validity of Parliament has become a great political concern and is a primary contributor to Canada s
existing regional tensions (Stilborn, 8).
The design of the electoral system is another great contributor to the rise of regional conflicts.
Elections in Canada are based on a system known as the first past the post system (Stilborn, 26). This
system was created where constituents of all ridings are able to elect a single candidate as their
representation within regards of their political party. In its essence, the candidate with the largest
percentage of the vote in his or her respective riding receives the seat in the House of Commons. This
system leads to a debate as to whether or not the outcomes of elections are truly representing party
preference on the national scale. This debate is primarily based on the fact that candidates are able to
win an election in a constituency, regardless if they received the majority vote or not. Also, the

The 2015 National Security Strategy Essay
1. POLICY DECISION AND OBJECTIVES. The 2015 National Security Strategy (NSS) identifies
climate change as a top strategic risk and seeks to shape standards for prevention, preparedness, and
response over the next decade . On 3 September 2016, the United States (U.S.) and China ratified the
2015 United Nations (UN) Paris Agreement on climate change. A month later, the European Union
(EU) followed suit, building international momentum to combat climate change. The President of the
United States (POTUS) released, Presidential Memorandum Climate Change and National Security on
21 September 2016. It directs Federal agencies to consider climate change impacts in all national
security doctrine, policies, and plans. To maintain momentum into the next administration, the
memorandum also requires agencies to specify climate change consideration objectives, milestones,
and timelines by 21 December 2016 and to provide an implementation plan by 21 February 2017.
2. BACKGROUND / NATIONAL INTERESTS. In June 2013, POTUS released The President s
Climate Action Plan. The Climate Action Plan organizes and directs executive action regarding
climate change, based on three pillars: (1) cutting carbon pollution in America, (2) preparing the U.S.
for the impacts of climate change, and (3) leading international efforts to combat global climate
change and prepare for its impacts. Five months later, POTUS issued Executive Order (EO) 13643

Woodstock 1969 Case Study
As the intended event planner for Woodstock 2010, it is my responsibility to examine previous
Woodstock events (1969, 1994, and 1999) to assist in my preparation for this event. Furthermore, by
studying the past triumphs and failures, I can recreate the elements that worked and improve upon the
elements that were failures. Indeed, close attention will be paid to identifying the most critical areas of
concern, identifying three additional areas needing attention, and determining the previous event s
goals and objectives.
In my opinion, the most critical area of concern would be the damage to the Woodstock brand, since
poor management has led to violence and exploitation of festivalgoers, hosting communities, and
sponsors (Crowd Management Strategies, 2015). Another major area of concern is the location that in
1999 was on Griffiss Air Force Base s concrete and tarmac surfaces versus 1969 s dairy farm location,
which led the 1999 crowd to experience widespread heat exhaustion issues (19 Worst Things About

multitudes of serious injuries and festival crashers causing significant overcrowding of the location

that attracted a specific type of crowd, however, in 1994 and especially 1999 the groups scheduled to
perform were from completely different styles of music, which led to nu metal bands following a rap
performer (19 Worst Things..., 2014). Third, the refreshments were also a serious problem at
Woodstock 99 where they offered bottled water and food at extremely inflated prices, which led along
with the high temperatures, it is speculated, to the vandalism of vendor booths on the final day of the

Reflection About Religion
I Thought Religion was Supposed to be Simple! I remember being a young, naïve boy getting ready to
venture off to my first semester of college at the Lord s school: Brigham Young University. I was
ready to live away from home, stay out however late I felt, and eat as much ice cream as I wanted with
no repercussions. Life was going to be amazing! My dreams were soon shattered as I was bombarded
with homework and essays from all my other classes, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel:
Religion. I was especially excited to embark on the journey of religion as it had always played an
important role in my life and I couldn t wait to explore seemingly endless verses of scripture and
prophecy. I sat in my new religion class jittering, for the long awaited moment had finally come. The
professor began class and I was immediately blind sided by a barrage of essays, readings, and study
packets. This couldn t be right! I sat and listened in horror only to find that my safe haven from
homework and stress was being annihilated and there was nothing I could do but wallow is my
disappointment and self doubt. This class quickly became my most involved and strenuous class. I
looked around the classroom only to see that I was not alone as the faces of my fellow classmates
showed the same shock and awe as my own. At the end of that atrocious semester, I concluded that
religion classes should not have grades, papers, or a mandatory attendance policy. Now, before I am

College Costs Are Out Of Control Essay
People with college degrees are paid 80% more than people with only a high school education. When
the college degree is from a more prestigious school, that percentage increases even further
(McArdle). Even President Barack Obama acknowledged this in a 2012 speech, saying that The
incomes of folks with a college degree are twice as high as those who don t have a high school
diploma (Lemann). While a college education is a good investment for the long run, the cost of
college is not a positive. The price of goods has risen due to inflation over the past decade, but during
that time college increased drastically. The rates have nearly doubled, but the things that students learn
still remain the same. If students are paying so much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The plan will help the state to reach its goal of helping 60 percent of Idahoans between the ages of 25
and 34 complete a degree or certificate by 2020 (Mills). In addition, half the United States already has,
or is in the midst, of making statewide education systems that include college (Kingsley and Vance).
Not only is college becoming more common, but it would make sense that with more students coming
into college that the rates would be lower. However, colleges are not decreasing costs, but instead
increasing them, making tuition costs harder on students. The job market is evolving, causing college
to be essential to anyone that wants to pursue a job. In a 2012 speech, President Barack Obama said
that right now, the unemployment rate for Americans with a college degree or more is about half the
national average (Lemann). This shows that even with a college degree, the job market is changing,
causing many students to be unemployed.Yet at the same time, people that have a college education
are better off than those without one. Moreover, the current job market is becoming more information
based, which requires more literacy, math skills and critical thinking. Since the United States is not
fully prepared with an education system that only requires kindergarten through 12th grade, the United
States must outsource jobs overseas to have necessary tasks be completed. This not only takes

Hess Law Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment is to determine if Hess Law works in a laboratory experiment
consisting of four different reactions. During the first reaction, cold water was placed into a
calorimeter and continually mixed with a stir bar. Hot water was then added into the calorimeter while
the probe recorded the temperature readings throughout the reaction. The temperature change was then
used to find the specific heat of the calorimeter. The same process was used in the second, third, and
fourth reactions of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide, ammonium chloride and sodium
hydroxide, and ammonia and hydrochloric acid respectively in order to determine the heats of
reaction.

The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice
Family Health
How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an
important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care
professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time,
members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be
followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that the
patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family
understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help health
care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes
place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities.
Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that
nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more complete picture surrounding
their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from
Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated continuously about the patient s condition and
procedures. Keeping the family members well informed an including them in procedures can have a
dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies are being

The Vicious Cycle Of Student Loans

The Vicious Cycle of Student Loans
Student loans are one of the top three national debts in the United States. Total student loans have
reached an outstanding of one trillion dollars and are still on going. It would take the United States
hundred fifty years, twenty million dollars a day to fully cover this national debt. Student loans are
intended for students to go to college but they come with a rising social and economic cost. As the
expectancy of high return and tuition are increasing, more students are ending up with a mountain of
debt and without a degree. It is risking our countries future; we will face another recession if the trend
of student loans continues to grow exponentially. We will have a future of Millienials who are in debt
and unable to invest their money into the economy. In order to have a stable and working economy, we
need people to spend money. Young adults are the masters of spending money and have a huge
contribution in stabilizing our economy. If young adults are spending their money in paying off their
debts, there will be definite consequences. So people might ask, what aspects of the economy are
being affected due to rising student debt? Despite the social cost that student loans promote, through
in depth research and analysis, I have concluded that our economic cost will evolve around the
housing market, small businesses, and students career choices. These are extremely valuable industries

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Having A Four Day School Week
Our school, Peetz High, is thinking about changing to have a four day school week. People are either
strongly proposing this or strongly opposing this. Many are complaining that Peetz is the only school
in our district with a five day week. Some say that it will mess with their schedule.
I honestly don t have a problem with a four day school week. In fact, I would really enjoy it if our
school made that change. However, not everybody agrees with me. In this editorial, I will explain why
having a four day school week will make Peetz better. Of course there are some cons to four day
weeks. Parents who work five days a week may have to hire a babysitter to watch their child. They are
adding 15 more minutes to each school day. There is less time

Alcohol vs. Marijuana Essay
Alcohol vs. Marijuana
Alcohol and marijuana are two drugs commonly used and abused in the United States. Alcohol is the
number one abused drug, while marijuana is number one among illegal drugs. While alcohol remains
legal, and marijuana illegal, this does not necessarily mean that alcohol is better for you. There have
been many arguments where people suggest that marijuana should be legal because alcohol is more
deadly. On the other hand, there are alcoholics who would tell a pothead that smoking weed is bad for
you. Both substances are very bad for your health and should not be heavily used by anyone.
Marijuana has an immediate effect during and for about 2 hours after smoking. With alcohol, users

Alcohol impairs judgment and vision, and causes speeding and reckless driving. On the other hand,
there has been debate over the effect of marijuana on driving. One study by a computer software
company reported that people who smoked a small amount of marijuana drove faster and with fewer
collisions in a driving computer game. Another study said that marijuana causes abnormally slow
driving, proneness to distraction, and increases the time it takes to react, therefore greatly impairs your
ability to drive.
Long term effects of alcohol are liver cirrhosis, stomach ailments, impotence, vitamin deficiency,
increased stroke risk, decreased mental performance, heart disease, peptic ulcers, hepatitis, and
various forms of cancer. Alcohols effects on the brain are loss of coordination, poor judgment, slowed
reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses, and even blackouts. Long term effects of marijuana are
mouth, throat, and lung cancer, increased heart rate, decrease in testosterone levels for men, increased
testosterone levels for women, diminished sexual pleasure, increased blood pressure, increased stress,
decreased motivation, and respiratory problems. The THC in marijuana damages the nerve cells in the
part of the brain where memories are formed, making it hard to remember things.
Both substances can lead to dependence, especially alcohol. If one abuses alcohol for to long and
becomes dependent, they are

Blood Lead Testing History

Where it all began
The Greeks and Romans were the first to use it. It was considered a luxury good in the American
Colonies. The White House was even painted with it. Lead based paint was a hot item. It was durable,
flexible and weather resistant. The use of white lead pigment peaked in 1922. While the primary
public health concerns were things like tuberculosis and Spanish influenza, the extremely washable
lead based paint seemed like a great alternative to germ harboring wallpaper. Continuing into the
1950s, the U.S. government overwhelmingly recommended the use of lead based paints.

The test took two days just to analyze a sample. This made the test unsuitable for larger scale testing
in communities. The technology that enabled community wide screenings for blood lead levels
became available in the mid 1960s. This allowed health officials to depart from relying on painfully
obvious symptoms such as pale skin, slurred speech, loss of appetite and cognitive deficits.
The first ban on lead paint
The first restriction on the use of lead paint in the U.S. came about in 1951 when the Baltimore Public
Health Department issued a ban on its use as interior paint. Since then, the restrictions on the use of
lead paint have come a long way. In 1978, paint containing more than .06% lead (in the dry product)
was banned for residential use in the United States.
Why so much focus on children?
If you look through the federal rules concerning lead paint, you will see that the lion s share of
defining standards are all about buildings inhabited by children. Aside from the obvious need to
protect our children, this is because children are more susceptible to the effects of lead poisoning. For
example, a child s cerebral membrane is still largely permeable until the age of

Though women tend to receive more grieve when it comes to sexist acts or sexist slurs made by men, the level of sexist disputes has decreases drastically with time. Yes, women s bodies are used to sell products, or portray a perfect image of how men want their women, but women must voluntarily advertize their own bodies. Some females may considered sexy or racy photos and commercials to be degrading, but those women choosing to do so can find it very empowering. They not only feel confident but they are becoming something that men swoon over and yearn for; ergo creating a sense of authority. Sexism runs rampant in every facet of our society. The story of Trifles exposes the sexism that women dealt with then, and still to some extent deal with today. The men show major examples of diminishing and downplaying the women s intelligence when ignoring them throughout examining the crime scene. Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale find incriminating evidence against Minnie, but the men never think to ask them their opinion; they are too preoccupied searching for solid tangible, evidence. Although the women find evidence to believe Minnie is the killer, I believe they feel somewhat responsible for her. This concluding that both genders are somewhat sexist. Fortunately, I think people are finally waking up to the fact that Amy Schumer is a one trick pony and that trick has gotten really old really fast. After she blamed Alt Right trolls for her comedy special flopping a couple of months back it will interesting to hear the excuse for this critical flop Snatched. • 5. What Is The Purpose Of The Odyssey Provide significant details about the author (120 1): Homer Homer, the author of The Odyssey , was believed to be blind. ( Homer ) Homer s writings were used to teach Greek students how to read in school (Beers 120). Style5 conventions (121) The 5 conventions Homer uses in his writing are invocation (invoking action), in medias res (middle of action), epic similes (comparing heroic events to events in everyday life), metrical structure (6 syllables per line so a passage will be easier for a speaker to memorize), and stock epithets (descriptive adjective) (Beers 121). Philosophies Greeks believed in many gods, and due to Homer s blindness, many people believed that Homer had godlike abilities. This is because it was said by philosophers that after losing one sense other abilities became stronger, which meant that Homer s other senses had become godlike (Beers 120). Every time the Greeks found something that they didn t understand they created a God to explain the phenomenon (Massa). The main gods that appear in The Odyssey are Zeus, the god of the Sky, who saves Odysseus multiple times, Poseidon, the god of the ocean, who holds resentment toward Odysseus, Hades, the god of the Underworld, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, justice, war, civilization, and peace, and Hermes, the god of mischief, who saves Odysseus many times but fools around with him first. Especially with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines, even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However, essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments. In her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use of asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her. Detailing her life before her diagnosis, Nancy Mairs lists ... It was new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular basis. Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either. Rather than resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and, impatient with limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way and forces rest (p5). She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man doesn t have to put up with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her, Mairs still considers herself lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my losses, but the terrain left me has been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities that absorb me (p4). She suggests that things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs demonstrates that she still looks forward to other specialties. • 9. Comparing The Flea and Valentine Essay Comparing The Flea and Valentine The flea is a metaphysical poem about a man trying to argue a virgin into bed to have sexual intercourse with him. This poem was most likely written to amuse the readers and probably more for a larger male audience. The poem was written in the late 17th century in a period where sex within marriage was like a household chore, but socially, sex before marriage was like a sin, because society was extremely religious. John Donne is attempting to get these thoughts out of her head and persuade her to have sex with him. Metaphysical poets use a lot of elaborate and extended comparisons. They wrote energetic and vigorous poems that went against the common literature of the time. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet points out that losing her virginity is not a sin. A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead He tries to reverse her views that both society and herself share. He is very persuasive in this poem and uses the flea many times as a symbol of their sexual union and uses many metaphors. He uses many sly phrases also which could easily win his argument and I feel it is making her feel guilty and starting to make her confused and think about the prospects of them having sex. I think that during the end of the first stanza the poet starts to become quite theatrical. Yet this enjoys it before it woo, And pamper d swells in one blood made of two; And this, alas! Is more than we would do. This could be referring to sex. The flea enjoys the blood and so does the man enjoy foreplay. The pamper d swells could be that of sexual organs before sex and yet, because that is not happening, the flea is having a better time at the moment than he is, by sucking their blood. I think that by using this comparison, John Donne is being very intellectual and at this point I feel he may win his argument. The second stanza, John Donne becomes weaker as the girl starts to defend herself and he tries to convey his love for her. John Donne, in this stanza I feel becomes more intimate and uses alliteration and much more poetic techniques. At the beginning of the second stanza, I would assume that the girl has got up and left him.

So in order to impede the potential spread of Russian influence and communism in post war Japan, the US had to end the war as soon as possible or else the potential spread of Stalin and the Soviet Union s influence might bring forth more devastating and graver consequences for the future of the US. The atomic bomb was a diplomatic and intimidating way of keeping the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Japanese people had a mentality of total war and if a conventional war were to be brought to their homeland, the Japanese were ready and prepared to fight, which would have resulted in many casualties on both sides. One possible consequence of a conventional war would have been a prolonging of the war. Rather than spending months, even years, fighting a war in Japan and suffering many more losses, the prospect of simply dropping a bomb over Japan and ending the war was more appealing (Wainstock 73). Truman wanted to minimize the amount of time needed to force an unconditional surrender because Russia was to join the fight against Japan within 90 days after VE Day. If Russia joined the fight against Japan, the other countries would be obligated to give her a portion in determining post war Japan, which would result in the communist influence being spread over to Japan and eventually the entire Pacific. Latin America Metaphors Solitude is more than a state of being alone; it is recognizing the fact that the individuals whom one introduces to their environment will never learn to accept their differences. It is being aware that positive things will never be satisfiable enough to gratify those around you. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Colombian author, illustrated the ideal picture of solitude in Latin America though his words he expressed in his Nobel Prize speech. Gabriel Marquez lived his childhood in a small isolated town in Columbia alongside his grandparents. Marquez was rudely denied a VISA to the United States due to his thoughts about the U.S military. However, Marquez was still able to publish and sell millions of copies of his novel 100 Years of Solitude which later became the second most read book in Latin America, following the Bible. In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Nobel Prize speech, The Solitude of Latin America, he uses the term solitude as a metaphor for Latin America through negative stereotypes from other countries and Latin America s geographic isolation. Initially, Latin America endures solitude as a result from the negative stereotypes they face from other countries based on inferred connotations from past actions. The chief faction that interrogates Latin America for their differences are the Europeans leaders who Have thought so, with the childishness of old timers who have forgotten the fruitful excess of their youth (Marquez 3). Price had a reputation as being an influence on creationism among people he met (Numbers, p. 89). His father died when George was very young and his mother joined an SDA church on the aftermath of the Millerite movement and during this period was when Ellen G White began having her visions and Seventh day Adventism was becoming known as Bible people (Numbers, p.89 90). Ellen G White support creationism by endorsing that Noah s flood did happen and that it change the world s surface and buried fossils which helped formed mountains, hills and trees (Numbers, p. 90). This was my first time learning about George Price, I was shocked to read that he married someone twelve years older than him. Price was a strong believer and supporter of Creationism but he made friends with people who were not like Dr. Alfred Smith, who got him to research evolution (Numbers, p. 91). • 24. Hydraulic Jum Experiment Report It is observed that the conjugate depth ratio of both the recorded and theoretical results increases uniformly with the increase in the Froude number for all slopes tested. It is also evident from the graphs that as the upstream Froude Number increases i.e. moves toward more supercritical flow, the ratio of the D2/D1 i.e. ratio of the downstream depth to the upstream depth also increases. It is also evident from the graphs that approximately 97% to 100% of the calculated results all lie within the ± 10% of line of best fit for each curve. As well, each of the graphs verifies a strong positive linear relationship between the dimensionless jump height and the upstream Froude Number. These results imply that a more supercritical upstream flow in D1, will produce a larger downstream depth, D2, and thus a larger hydraulic jump. The results of the experiment confirm the following relationships a. D2/D1 1, the depth increases across the jump so that D2 D1 b. F2 1, downstream flow must be subcritical c. F1 1, upstream flow must be supercritical It is observed that length of the jump Lj/D2 ratio also increases with increasing F1 values exponentially. However it must be noted that it is difficult to derive a purely theoretical expression for the Jump length which at the present moment is done by comparing experimental data using statistical methods. The results also show that a stable hydraulic jump can only form when the three independent parameters D1, D2 and F ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The central provinces of Canada, Ontario and Quebec, are represented by 60% of the seats in the House of Commons and just under half the seats in the Senate. It is quite clear that the insufficiency of regional representation is such a controversial matter. An unelected Senate that no longer fulfils its mandate, and a House of Commons strongly influenced by provinces in ratio to their population, the validity of Parliament has become a great political concern and is a primary contributor to Canada s existing regional tensions (Stilborn, 8). The design of the electoral system is another great contributor to the rise of regional conflicts. Elections in Canada are based on a system known as the first past the post system (Stilborn, 26). This system was created where constituents of all ridings are able to elect a single candidate as their representation within regards of their political party. In its essence, the candidate with the largest percentage of the vote in his or her respective riding receives the seat in the House of Commons. This system leads to a debate as to whether or not the outcomes of elections are truly representing party preference on the national scale. The 2015 National Security Strategy (NSS) identifies climate change as a top strategic risk and seeks to shape standards for prevention, preparedness, and response over the next decade . On 3 September 2016, the United States (U.S.) and China ratified the 2015 United Nations (UN) Paris Agreement on climate change. Indeed, close attention will be paid to identifying the most critical areas of concern, identifying three additional areas needing attention, and determining the previous event s goals and objectives. In my opinion, the most critical area of concern would be the damage to the Woodstock brand, since poor management has led to violence and exploitation of festivalgoers, hosting communities, and sponsors (Crowd Management Strategies, 2015). Another major area of concern is the location that in 1999 was on Griffiss Air Force Base s concrete and tarmac surfaces versus 1969 s dairy farm location, which led the 1999 crowd to experience widespread heat exhaustion issues (19 Worst Things About Woodstock 99, ... I remember being a young, naïve boy getting ready to venture off to my first semester of college at the Lord s school: Brigham Young University. I was ready to live away from home, stay out however late I felt, and eat as much ice cream as I wanted with no repercussions. Life was going to be amazing! My dreams were soon shattered as I was bombarded with homework and essays from all my other classes, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel: Religion. I was especially excited to embark on the journey of religion as it had always played an important role in my life and I couldn t wait to explore seemingly endless verses of scripture and prophecy. I sat in my new religion class jittering, for the long awaited moment had finally come. The professor began class and I was immediately blind sided by a barrage of essays, readings, and study packets. This couldn t be right! I sat and listened in horror only to find that my safe haven from homework and stress was being annihilated and there was nothing I could do but wallow is my disappointment and self doubt. This class quickly became my most involved and strenuous class. I looked around the classroom only to see that I was not alone as the faces of my fellow classmates showed the same shock and awe as my own. At the end of that atrocious semester, I concluded that religion classes should not have grades, papers, or a mandatory attendance policy. Now, before I am cast out and ... • 32. The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice Family Health How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time, members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated continuously about the patient s condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Total student loans have reached an outstanding of one trillion dollars and are still on going. It would take the United States hundred fifty years, twenty million dollars a day to fully cover this national debt. Student loans are intended for students to go to college but they come with a rising social and economic cost. As the expectancy of high return and tuition are increasing, more students are ending up with a mountain of debt and without a degree. It is risking our countries future; we will face another recession if the trend of student loans continues to grow exponentially. We will have a future of Millienials who are in debt and unable to invest their money into the economy. In order to have a stable and working economy, we need people to spend money.
