Patients Health Of Medical Marijuana
Patients Health Utilizing Medical Marijuana
Karen Mak
Rutgers University
Introduction to Research Methods, Fall 2016
Abstract
The following study proposal would review the results of the overall health outcomes of patients who
replaced pharmaceutical treatment with medical marijuana. The study will look at the improvements
in meal consumption, Clinical Global Impression scores, Pittsburgh Agitation Scale, and the decrease
in the symptom being monitored. The studies being reviewed research many conditions ranging from
Alzheimer disease, dementia patients, dystonia, dyskinesias, and tics, and pain management. Many
studies indicate that the results may vary, and the extent of its beneficial properties should be
determined by the patients physician. It is hypothesized that the patients that are replacing
pharmaceutical treatment with medical treatment will present positive results.
One of the most popular treatments for medical problems is the prescription of pharmaceutical drugs.
Many doctors prescribe this drug without considering natural or holistic remedies. There are many
alternative solutions for many conditions, like diet, exercise, or therapy, yet doctors are still quick to
write out a prescription for pharmaceutical drugs for their patients. Pharmaceutical drugs can be very
dangerous and extremely harmful in any dosing or potency. Many doctors over prescribe this drug,
leading to addiction and even toxicity. One very popular

Yellow Wallpaper Feminism
Feminist View of the Yellow Wallpaper The yellow wallpaper has a lot of Feminist .The yellow
wallpaper was male run establishment and the patriarchal (Controlled by man) structure in the
nineteenth century households. Prior to the twentieth century men had assigned and defined roles for
women. Most of the woman that had suffered were the middle class. Men had the so called power to
overrule the woman. In the poem the yellow wallpaper it s about this woman that is driven to madness
as a result of a Victorian rest cure . The rest cure involves the isolation of family and friends and that s
what she had.
Charlotte Gilman talks about how the lady in the yellow wallpaper is a story of an unnamed female

Political Scandals During The Twentieth Century
Corruption in campaigns, in the modern sense of candidates being swayed by corporate influence, was
a result of the changes brought on by the Industrial and Technological Revolutions. These revolutions
created millionaire captains of industry whose immense influence and power held sway over the
future of the United States both economically and politically. Elections and campaigning methods
drastically changed as technology allowed candidates to reach voters through new kinds of
advertising. Gone were the days when being born in a log cabin was the key to door of the Oval
Office, the effectiveness of a candidate s campaign now correlated with the amount of money backing
it. The early twentieth century also saw the continuance of the widespread corruption, particularly in
the railroad industry, but also in political campaigns, that had plagued the late nineteenth century
before it. The significance of this is that, while corruption had no doubt existed prior to this period, the
sheer scale of this new corruption and the magnitude of the resulting political scandals was unlike
anything America had witnessed before. Muckraking writer Lincoln Steffens, in his book The Shame
of the Cities, described the problem of the political sphere of his time by stating: politics is business.
That s what s the matter with it. That s what s the matter with everything. (Steffens 2) Something
clearly needed to be done to stem the rising corruption and action came as the progressive movement

Physical Appearance In Frankenstein
From hundreds of years until now, there are many serious issues concerning human interactions that
have been discussed in different ways and can be seen in countless pieces of work such as the novel
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. In this novel, Shelley wrote about various themes that are significant in
understanding the concept of fitting in with society and human interactions with one another and with
ones self. She was trying to get across important themes that are still relevant today, including the
theme of physical appearance. The theme of physical appearance is shown many times in the novel
and illustrates how people are judged and discriminated according to how they look and the
consequences it may have on individuals.
Physical appearance is the way a person looks and the features ... Show more content on

People, in general, are unjust when they encounter someone that look or act differently. Some were
able to understand and welcome these differences and others are continuing to be ignorance of the
world around them. So, when the creation was treated as a monster, he did believe that he was indeed
one and hated his own looks, At first, I started back, unable to believe that it was indeed I who was
reflected in the mirror; and when I became fully convinced that I was in reality the monster I am, I
was filled with the bitterest sensations of despondence and mortification. He wanted to be accepted by
others, but he felt worse because of his wretched looks. The monster seems to know that people hated
him because of his looks, When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, a monster, a

different or ugly, he was abandoned by

Five Key Fundamentals Of Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis has many concepts that are complex for the lay reader to grasp instantaneously. To
understand what working through it, some background information is considered necessary. This
section introduces the relevant terminology and concepts.
Current psychoanalytic theory and practice has its origin in the writing of Freud (Etchegoyen, 2005).
The aim of analysis is to effect structural changes in the patient. Psychoanalysis consists of five key
fundamentals: (a) resistance (b) the transference of the patient and the counter transference of the
analyst, (c) the verbal material provided by the patient according to the principle of free association,
(d) interpretation, and (e) working through. Thus it relies on the work of psychoanalyst and the work
of the patient from the approach of the scientific realism (the idea that all objects, events and
processes are real). Scientific realism can be contrasted with the rational positivist approach of
behavioral psychologist such as Skinner and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychoanalysis was concerned with psychic events and the patient s emotions and feelings. The school
of ego psychology, object relations and self psychology were chosen for contrast in this thesis, as each
of these schools has evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis, emphasizing a variety of levels of
expansion of the psyche.
According to Kukla (2001), the ideologies of reality theory evolution are called the logic of
justification . He detained that theories are evaluated in terms of their virtuosity , or principles that can
be certified to them. Of these, the truth value of a theory is the most significant. Kukla wrote,
however, that the concrete truth value can be intricate to determine. Instead, other theoretical virtues
are used in the justification (evaluation) of a theory as an approximation to its truth value (Haig,

Sample Letter For The Brochure
Unit 12 Evaluation for the Brochure
The aim of the brochure was to inform the tourists about the best places to visit Newcastle upon Tyne.
I included information about Nightlife, Shopping, Entertainment and Food, which I included with
useful information. I am not allowed to use the font style Arial and Times New Roman. Also, the other
decisions, which were made will be specified whilst I am discussing the pages.
After the initial client meeting and subsequent meetings for designs I began work on the CRC of the
document.
I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief and the questionnaire,
which I gave the client to answer. The page layout for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages into
three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images,
information and designing the page. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the information
and the sizes of the images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more different and
appealing, which is significant. The information is placed in a rectangular or square box and it fits the
whole A4 page. The purpose of this was to make it stand out, which would encourage the reader s to
carry on reading the brochure. The point size of the texts varies this depends if it is the subheading,
heading or body text and this is to make some information stand out more than others. For instance,
make the heading stand out so the reader s are aware

Important Events During American Labor Union History
LABOR MANAGEMENT RELATIONS MINI CASE IMPORTANT EVENTS IN AMERICAN
LABOR UNION HISTORY WEBSTER UNIVERSITY SONI VESTAL Abstract In labor as in all
things there is strength in numbers it is this strength that American labor unions provide. Labor unions
provide a collective voice for those who had not previously been heard. As the professor in the
Frustrated Labor Historian Dr. Horace P. Karastan is left with the dilemma what are the three most
important events in American labor union history it would be difficult to choose with so many
important moments. There are however several events that stand out as being turning points in giving
employees unquestionable protections. The Norris LaGuardia Act of 1932 allowing employees the
right to organize. Further the Wagner Act protecting employees from reprisal from employers for
organizing spurring the growth of unionization. The Landrum Griffin Act of 1959 building on the
Wagner Act as well as the Taft Hartley Act of 1947 which granted protections from the unions. It is
these Acts that have changed the landscape of American labor union history and leave us with the
unions that we have today. IMPORTANT EVENTS IN AMERICAN LABOR UNION HISTORY In
the mini case The Frustrated Labor Historian Dr. Horace P. Karastan was placed in a difficult position.
There are many important events in American labor union history that it is difficult to choose just
three that were to be the focal point of his presentation to the audience. It

The Red Scare and McCarthyism Essays
The Red Scare and McCarthyism had begun Paranoia, disloyalty, people losing jobs. The Red Scare
and McCarthyism both made everything else worse. Communism is a political theory derived from
Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and
each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. At the end of the month when
they get their paychecks they both end up with the same amount of money it is not fair, right? but that
is more or less what McCarthyism is. During the 1950s, there was a great amount of paranoia and the
government technically speaking did not confide in anyone else and falsely accused other people
(Essay). The government was so paranoid that they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People that worked in the army or were part of the movie industry had to answer to this question
(McCarthyism).
Another one of the major things that happened in the 1950s was the Red Scare. What that means is
that people were scared that communists would rise against them. Many of the people were very
affected and according to The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History: Hundreds of
screenwriters, actors, and directors were blacklisted because of their alleged political beliefs, while
teachers, steelworkers, sailors, lawyers, and social workers lost their jobs for similar reasons.More
than thirty nine states required teachers and other public employees to take loyalty oaths (Anti
Communism).
As you can see many people, many important people had been affected. Many books were also burned
or banned such as Robin Hood, Civil Disobedience, etc (Anti Communism). As was stated before
many people had lost their jobs because the government was suspicious of people.
The government was not doing so well there was so much disloyalty that teachers had to take an oath
of loyalty before they were hired. Could you imagine someone making you take an oath of loyalty
before you were hired just because of a few problems with the government? well it happened (Anti
Communism). They also banned a ton of books that were considered too leftist (democrats) which
means they were

Effects Of Depreciation On The Real Estate Appraisal
Depreciation is defined as the loss in value, from all causes, of property having a limited economic
life. (Thimgan, p.257, 2010) The cause of depreciation could be wear and tear, decay, inadequacy,
excessiveness, obsolescence, and negative externalities of factors external to the subject property.
There are various forms depreciation recognized in the real estate appraisal. The following are
commonly applied depreciation forms:
Physical depreciation is the loss in market value due to wear and tear and the actions of the forces of
nature. It has two classes: curable physical deterioration occurs when repairs add a value equal or in
excess of the cost of the repair. This can be measured using the cost to cure. The following can be
mentioned as a short lived curable physical deterioration: broken window, leaky plumbing, cracked
paint or plaster, worn out floor cover, leaking roof. Incurable physical deterioration is a situation
where the cost of repair exceeds the added value to the property as of the date of the appraisal. In this
case, it is not economically rational to repair or replace. The depreciated amount is determined using
age life ratio out of the total cost new of the item replaced. The following constitute examples of
incurable physical deterioration roof cover, hot water heater, and carpeting.
Functional obsolescence is a loss in market value due to the inability of the improvement to operate or
function efficiently for its supposed use as the date of

Government Control Gun Control
The second part of reforming the Republican Party involves enacting stricter gun regulations to
decrease the amount of gun violence in the United States. The official policy from the Republican
platform believes that all law abiding citizens should have the right to own guns (2016 Republican
Party Platform). However, recent mass shootings in California and Texas has called into question on
whether the regulations that are in place are enough, or if there should be tougher background checks
and restrictions on guns. The Republican Party s current stance on these recent shootings has caused a
massive backlash from the media and the public, which is resulting in a rapid decrease in popularity.
The American public is dismayed when they turn on the news and see reports of another mass
shooting causing unnecessary deaths because of gun violence and Republican politicians are attacked
on the media for not taking the necessary action of stricter gun regulations. However, with this new
stance the Republicans will now support more detailed background checks and restrict the type of
guns that can be owned by regular citizens. This will be heavily supported by most liberal groups but
disapproved by the almost all conservative groups. Groups like the Solid Liberals, Faith and Family
Left, and the Next Generation Left believe that the government controlling gun ownership should be
implemented due to the increase of mass shootings. However, groups that are far right, the Young
Outsiders,

The Workplace Challenges And Organizational Behavior
In contrast with the past workplace challenges and organizational behavior, there is a necessity to
understand ourselves and others. Sometimes the stress and prestige can cause an adverse impact on
one s position in the workplace. The ability to deal with our emotions while working effectually with
others and at the same time, performing the organization s expectations are in high demand. Since the
employees are an asset, and the organization is expecting a return on their investment, understanding
how emotions work and how it impacts one s capacity is indispensable in accomplishing
organizational goals. In the workplace, people often have to work with each other. So the handling of
relationships and interacting with others becomes the key to the success of the organization. Managers
need to have a combination of skills and abilities such as the strength of will, awareness of self,
empathy for others and sensitivity toward others internally and externally. Before one can handle
others emotions he/she must first learn to lead themselves. So the question become, how is this done?
Coleman s theory suggest that this can be done through emotional intelligence which is the ability to
create, build and maintain viable relationships (Coleman, 1998, p. 14). No one wants to follow the
leadership of a person who cannot manage his/her emotions. Let s look together at three business CEO
s personal backgrounds and use of emotional intelligence. The top chief emotions officers in the U.S.

Gender In The Workplace Essay
Gender in the Workplace: A Tradition of Discrimination Throughout history women have endured
terrible injustices due to societies views and male domination. One of the most restrictive issues has
been the perception of women in professional roles. In Andersen s Thinking About Women the
traditional view of women s work involved them staying home where they were seen as having a
moral calling to serve their families (Andersen, 2011, p. 118). These views, unpopular as they may be,
still exist today. Incredible women such as Margaret Floy Washburn and S. Josephine Baker provide
valuable insights into what it was like to attempt to break from the norm and pursue professional
careers in male dominated fields of the time. A modern perspective form Anne Marie Slaughter also
helps demonstrate how this tradition of discrimination against women in the workplace has greatly
changed during recent times. In the past, women fortunate enough to receive an education have found
it difficult to thrive in a male directed society. Such was the case of Margaret Floy Washburn and S.
Josephine Baker. Washburn faced discrimination in her pursuit of upper level education. Only allowed
to be a hearer (Washburn, 1992, p. 134), she was allowed to attend classes at Columbia University;
however she was not allowed to obtain a degree. (Washburn, 1992, p. 134). Despite this opposition,
she would go on to receive a doctor s degree and become the chair of Psychology, Philosophy, and
Ethics at Wells

Comparison Of Tragedy, The Enquirer, And The Critics
In Tragedy, The Enquirer, and the Critics the authors talks about all tabloids being very similar in the
sense of them all writing modern versions of tragedies. This became more obvious the closer i
analyzed these magazines. For instance, in Life and Style magazine one of the main articles was about
how Tim Mcgraw has lost weight. First hand it that seems like a good thing but the further you get
into the actual article it talks about how unhappy he was with himself before he went and lost all the
weight. In the end of course he is happy with where he is now. Magazines like Life and Style tend to
be more of a good outcome story while magazines like The Enquirer are not. They usually go with a
harsher story. For example, an article about Matthew Perry s relapse. They talk about Matthew going
in out of rehab and how everyone believe he was sober but was evidently not anymore. While the
magazines were very similar in that nature, they were very different in the way the perceived women.
Life and Style talks about Vanessa Williams having expert enhancements done and how the Doctor
that [she] goes to for [her] botox does it gently so [she] can still act and be expressive. while in The
Enquirer, Sharon Stone will do anything to save her career including secret liposuction to fix her
thunderous thighs! The differences in both articles are pretty evident. One magazine is praising a
woman for having work done while another is being slammed by the magazine. The

them as such but in most cases the way these types of characters are written doesn t always stand out

feel for myself. Looking at Merteuil character on paper, you d almost want to describe her as brutal
and maybe even unsympathetic yet Douglas manages to give layers to this character that weren t just
an evil hard ass but showed a human side to her that had pain and a soul that was damaged while
maintaining that fierce persona. One of my personal favorite moments from the play was when she

Self Efficacy, Self Esteem, And Social Wellness Essay
Suicide, the reason what teens use to get away from life, caused by depression and other mental health
problems. Unhealthy minds and healthy minds will tell you how unclear thoughts affects someone.
This brings down the self efficacy, self esteem, and self confidence. There are three steps to prevent
suicide, which might decrease the risk of suicide from happening. This might give you a clear idea to
help prevent a friend, family member, or anyone from committing suicide.
Self Efficacy
Many of us had been though a couple of rough times and some pretty amazing ones as well. Difficult
times for most people can take away their energy, taken away emotions, and break a person s spirit.
The good times on the other hand can lift someone s spirit up, boost their self esteem, and show signs
of our capability. This is called self efficacy, it connects with four of the 6 dimensions of health
mental, emotional, spiritual, and social wellness. These effects tell people to feel good about
themselves, help them control their social anxiety, and maintain a positive lookout on life.
Healthy vs Unhealthy People with an unhealthy mental mind can be extremely dangerous, or just plain
terrible, they would respond with an irrational response. Whereas, healthy people respond with a more
positive, a better outlook on life. A healthy mind has a good attitude, value, beliefs, and can reason
with other people. Unhealthy people with unhealthy minds cannot do things like that. They either have

What Is 3.1 Business Law Assignment
Business Law Assignment 3.1
Task 1 A fixture is defined as an asset that is fixed or installed to land or building so as to become a
fundamental part of that land or building. An item is deemed to be fixed to property or building if it is
permanently attached to the structure using bolts, screws, nails, or cement. Fixtures are intended to
serve a particular purpose. For example, shelves are fixtures intended to assist with proper
arrangements of items in a shop (Aalberts, 2015). In the case of Goodprice Pty Ltd, the new extractor
fans to be installed by the tenant in his restaurant would be considered as fixtures. The fans would be
fixed on the ceiling, possibly with the help of bolts and screws. Besides, they would have a purpose: to
prevent the ceiling from smoke damage. Their removal might also damage the ceiling, which is part of
the building (Beaty, Samuelson and Bredeson, 2013). At the end the 5 year tenancy period, the
restaurant tenant will have the right remove the extractor fans. The tenant holds removal rights since
he installed them at the request of the landlord. Moreover, the ... Show more content on

Ursula Le Guin Challenges Utilitarianism
Ursula Le Guin challenges utilitarianism in The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by describing a
fictional utopic city where everyone flourishes at the expense of a young child trapped in a basement.
This fictional utopic city is a metaphor for utilitarianism at its absolute worse, since trapping an
innocent child in a basement for the flourishing of others seems like a grotesque thing to do. Also,
Guin is portraying utilitarianism as unethical by vividly describing the innocent beings constant
suffering, appealing to the readers empathy. Lastly, Guin implies that those who look for the best
possible outcomes at the expense of the innocent are unjust, and that one has a moral obligation to
walk away from cruelty. Guin further challenges Utilitarianism

The Devil In The White City Essay
The late 19th century, the Gilded Age, was seen as a prosperous and golden era for America. Yet,
underneath the gilded landscape, lay a foundation of corruption and violence. Europe saw America as
a wealthy nation lacking elegance and grace (PBS). However, the close of the 19th century and the
beginning of the 20th century would play host to the 1893 Chicago World s Fair (The Fair) or
otherwise known as, The Columbian Exposition. The Fair would prove the Europeans wrong; the
World s Fair would define America as a country rich in innovation and culture. The Exposition
utilized burgeoning technology, business ventures and societal reforms to create an utopia that would

They became active in participating and forming charities as well as advocating for progressive
reforms. In addition, urbanization in the late 19th century allowed women to play a bigger role in
society. As evidenced in Larson s novel, The Devil In The White City, women contributed to the
economy and participated in the workforce. They sought work as typewriters, stenographers,
seamstresses, and weavers (Larson 11). No longer were young women relegated to the house. Women
began to advocate for ideas that they believed in: Elizabeth Cady Stanton argued in favor of divorce.
Clarence Darrow advocated free love (Larson 12). The Columbian Exposition took advantaged of the
flourishing role of women outside the home. A Board of Lady Managers governed alongside the
World s Columbian Commission. Furthermore, Burnham decided that the Woman s Building, which
was to be part of the Court of Honor, was to be designed by a woman. The job was given to twenty
one year old female architect Sophia Hayden (Larson 120). Hayden was chosen to design a building
that would be shown to the whole world. Moreover, she was not picked because of social connections

Thomas Russell Personification
Working with the Journal IAOS for the Irish Homestead from 1905 to 1923 George William Russell
was able to expand his capabilities of a writer and publicist. During the duration of him working with
Journal, IAOS Russell received ample recognition from others within the agricultural co operation.
Russell uses imagery, personification, and rhyme to convey the idea that you shouldn t lose hope
during tough times.
Personification brings animals and objects to live by giving them human characteristics. George
William Russell says in the poem A Call Earth renew the music sweeter . He makes the earth come to

He expresses this in lines eleven through thirteen of his poem Freedom , by stating Though far I go
from you, Where in the light outpoured, my bird, are love and freedom too. This expression implies,
that during life individuals will face trying times that will fill them with sorrow. However, people are
constantly able to find pleasure in the light of something they ardor. Furthermore, Russell continues to
indicate this concept within lines fourteen through sixteen of his composition titled Faith by declaring;
The Children of the King should bear, they will not be by Him denied, His light will make their
darkness fair. In this poem the king represents the spiritual idea that Russell finds peace within. So as
a result the sovereign in this statement claims he is going to make the suffering of people from all ages
just with his love, as long as they don t lose confidence. So in essence Russell is letting his readers
know through his poems that even in their darkest and toughest times if they don t succumb to the
darkness but remain hopeful light will shine upon

Role Of Women In Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales Essay The power struggle between man and woman has been tangible since the time
of Adam and Eve. In Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, a plethora of characters share
stories that reflect their personalities and lives. Several of these stories revolve around the female
position and focuses on the role they play in society. Although women are usually seen as subordinate
to the male, in Canterbury Tales, they are portrayed as independent human beings. The Wife of Bath
embodies her independence through her dominance over her first three husbands in marriage.
Additionally, Alison from The Miller s Tale is representative of this strong female character, for her
denial towards the males in her lives, manifests how independent she is.
The Wife of Bath s actions display a highly preeminent role of women. As the Wife of Bath explained
her marriages with her first three husbands, she notes that she is able to conquer them to either obtain
material possession or to simply gain their love. The Wife of Bath describes her overpowering feelings
towards her husbands by stating:
I ll have a husband yet Who shall be both my debtor and slave And bear his tribulation to the grave
Upon his flesh, as long as I m his wife For mine shall be the power all his life (Chaucer 262).
This statement demonstrates that the role of women, such as The Wife of Bath s, was to be a dominant
leader of the marriage. She describes her husband as her slaves and debtor,

Why Pharmacy Is The Benefits And Risks
All four of my grandparents grew up in China, in a small culture where foreign medicine, meaning
medication and surgery, was not deemed acceptable or healthy for the human body. Invasive
procedures and drugs were considered unnatural and looked down upon. However, a new age of
scientific technology and knowledge has come around and when my paternal grandmother refused an
eye surgery, she went partially blind until she agreed to go through with the surgery and take the
medications she was assigned after. Although prescriptions are now engineered to be of the least

This consultative aspect of pharmacy is what interests me the most.
There are different kinds of pharmacists, but these are the general ones: community pharmacists,
clinical pharmacists, consultant pharmacists and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community
pharmacists work in retail stores such as chain drug stores or independently owned pharmacies (U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics), such as Rite Aid or Target. They are the pharmacies that provide over the
counter medications and often give out free flu shots. Clinical pharmacists are those who give
pharmaceutical advice to those in hospitals and clinics. However, they spend less time prescribing
medication (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) and are more involved in direct patient care (U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics). As well as recommending drugs, they actually oversee the dosage and timing of
the medication in the hospital. In the field of pharmacy, clinical pharmacists have duties more similar
to those of physicians than community pharmacists, whom act as a modern day apothecary. Consultant
pharmacists provide expert advice on the use of medications by individuals or within institutions, or
on the provision of pharmacy services to institutions (American Society of Consultant Pharmacists).
Rather than prescribing medications or the hands on surveillance of drugs, consultant pharmacists are
just that consults of medication. Consultant

Nutritional Deficiency Of Vitamin And Its Effects On The...
Nutritional deficiency of Zn in humans is associated with major disease conditions like growth
retardation, cell mediated immune dysfunction, cognitive impairment and increased susceptibility to
infection. Zn modulates various aspects of the immune system. Many in vivo studies have shown the
impact of Zn deficiency and supplementation on the normal development and key functions of
immune cells. Dietary Zn deficiency is known to influence the onset of autoimmune diseases and also
prolongs disease severity 35. A study showed that Zn suppresses Th17 mediated rheumatoid arthritis
by inhibiting Th17 cell development 36. Furthermore, Zn supplementation therapy partially restores
these immune deficiencies. Higher Zn intake is associated with improved resistance to infection and
reduced duration of illness and improvements in specific lymphocyte subpopulation numbers for
example T regs, Th1 and Th2 cells 37. In this study we show that zinc supplementation induced a
tolerogenic phenotype in DCs both in vitro and in vivo and promoted the development of regulatory T
cells and affected the Treg Th17 balance favourably to induce tolerance. DCs are major mediators of
proinflammmatory and anti inflammatory (tolerogenic) responses 12. Tolerogenic DCs function by
causing effector T cell deletion, anergy and induction of regulatory T cells 17. Tolerogenic DCs are
induced by a variety of environmental factors such as the presence of immunosuppressive drugs,
nutritional factors,

Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong
eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the 1970s, the British brought the idea back
to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other
countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police
handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is replaced by a black thick
rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area below the neck; when the bullet
hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950
mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some
people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). Although not intended to be deadly

when it comes down to controlling hostile crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant
way to turn rioters away. These are just a few non lethal weapons used by police in riots all across the

Augustine s Letter To The Ephesians
The journey of Saint Augustine into finding his faith is depicted through his writings in Confessions.
Augustine was born in the year 354 AD in Hippo, a region in North Africa. Today, he is regarded to be
one of the most important influencers of the development of early Christianity. However, he is not a
typical saint; It took him years of philosophizing and experiential learning to be able to accept and
appreciate the Christian faith. Despite pressures from Augustine s religiously devout mother Monica,
who spent her life trying to sway Augustine in the direction of Christianity, Augustine firmly held the
belief that Christianity was far too simple to fulfill his spiritual desires. Augustine constantly wrestled

Paul s letter to the Ephesians is written while he is held in prison. He proposes a guideline based on
the gospel to explain how to live a life filled with God s grace. Paul writes that before the introduction
of Jesus teachings, people were trapped in a life of sin, hopelessness, and greed. Now, Jesus has
provided a way for people to manifest a new form of humanity. This humanity is meant to be
celebrated through God s grace. Although Paul is in prison, he is still able to look to God to help him,
while appreciating the gift of God s grace. This emphasized how Paul is a model for followers of Jesus
because he looks toward his faith to guide him through a troubled time. Paul sets up a conclusion to
his letter by comparing the principles of an old humanity versus the desired principles of a new
humanity. For example, Paul encourages truth over lies, peace over anger or hatred, and forgiveness
over retribution. In other terms, Paul is discouraging sinful attributes and encouraging the attributes
that will lead to living a faithful life under the word of God. Paul concludes his message to the
Ephesians with a passage that provides a summation of what it takes to live life as a devout and true
follower of Jesus. He writes, Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the

Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay
4.3 Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed an
internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between 0 and
1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements
(Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it is
expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items variance
(from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on the test
length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention that it was
decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the questionnaire s
internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items distributed in five
dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the instrument was redesigned
to 20 items, as is shown in Graphic 4. Graphic 4. Items and dimensions of final questionnaire

Principal Doctrines Of Epicurus
The principal Doctrines, are written by Epicurus who lived from 341B.C. to 270 B.C. His theory is
hedonism, which is rooted in pleasure. The book speaks of pain as being only temporary, and that it is
only a pleasure over pain (V). This is a way of life to see the pleasures that life offers are what
Epicurus is saying. And although, no Pleasure is a bad thing in itself, The results of obtaining the
pleasure can bring greater displeasures (VIII). He is looking for the most pleasures one can get, and I
suppose if he was not happy with his job, that he would quit. I can see Epicurus, avoiding a lot of
things within his life because they would bring pain and frustration, like driving in rush hour. The idea
sounds like he is living the simple life, or a hermit s life. The first four Principal Doctrines, deal with
anxiety in people s lives, and how they should think. Epicurus, is telling people not to fear death, God,
nor pains in one s life because they do not last long and they are for the week. The problem with this
way of thinking, is that it removes the true God from the person s life. But, that is not what he is
saying. He, believed that the true life of pleasure consisted in an attitude of imperturbable emotional
calm which needed only simple pleasures, a healthy diet, a prudent moral life, and good friends (pg.
342). This is quit opposite of what people say of Epicureanism in today s time. Epicurus, does not

Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay
According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD),
approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one
or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a
unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both
academically and socially.
There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the
outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an
effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any
speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of
hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory
nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range
from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition
in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means
for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of
hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or
cochlear implants. (Hunt, 2012, pp. 374 377)

Love is in the air. Although this may sound like a cliche it is true. Love is prevalent in every society all

In general, a Japanese person will live with their parents until they are officially married, this also
means during the dating process. This is different from the more western tradition of moving in once
the relationship is getting serious. The Japanese refrain from moving in with each other to prevent the
couple from having sex before they are married. However, this doesn t prevent sexual activity during
the relationship. The couple could go to love hotels, karaoke booths, the backs of cars, and public
parks. This isn t a taboo topic, but it isn t openly discussed either. Japanese people also stay with their
parents until marriage to motivate themselves to get married at some point in their lives, rather than
live with their parents for the rest of their days. Additionally, if one lives with their parents for too
long and the parents are not okay with this, the parents will then resort to marrying off the child.
Although arranged marries aren t the tradition anymore, it is used as a last resort. But, a child can have
an arranged all together. In the previous generations arranged marriages were the custom thing to
have, but the recent generation has progressed, and it is now accepted to date around and pick a
spouse. In Japan, there are not just certain ways are done, there s the way things are supposed to be
done. Thus, culture is culture, and formalities are formalities. Their

  • 2. Patients Health Of Medical Marijuana Patients Health Utilizing Medical Marijuana Karen Mak Rutgers University Introduction to Research Methods, Fall 2016 Abstract The following study proposal would review the results of the overall health outcomes of patients who replaced pharmaceutical treatment with medical marijuana. The study will look at the improvements in meal consumption, Clinical Global Impression scores, Pittsburgh Agitation Scale, and the decrease in the symptom being monitored. The studies being reviewed research many conditions ranging from Alzheimer disease, dementia patients, dystonia, dyskinesias, and tics, and pain management. Many studies indicate that the results may vary, and the extent of its beneficial properties should be determined by the patients physician. It is hypothesized that the patients that are replacing pharmaceutical treatment with medical treatment will present positive results. One of the most popular treatments for medical problems is the prescription of pharmaceutical drugs. Many doctors prescribe this drug without considering natural or holistic remedies. There are many alternative solutions for many conditions, like diet, exercise, or therapy, yet doctors are still quick to write out a prescription for pharmaceutical drugs for their patients. Pharmaceutical drugs can be very dangerous and extremely harmful in any dosing or potency. Many doctors over prescribe this drug, leading to addiction and even toxicity. One very popular ... • 4. Political Scandals During The Twentieth Century Corruption in campaigns, in the modern sense of candidates being swayed by corporate influence, was a result of the changes brought on by the Industrial and Technological Revolutions. These revolutions created millionaire captains of industry whose immense influence and power held sway over the future of the United States both economically and politically. Elections and campaigning methods drastically changed as technology allowed candidates to reach voters through new kinds of advertising. Gone were the days when being born in a log cabin was the key to door of the Oval Office, the effectiveness of a candidate s campaign now correlated with the amount of money backing it. The early twentieth century also saw the continuance of the widespread corruption, particularly in the railroad industry, but also in political campaigns, that had plagued the late nineteenth century before it. The significance of this is that, while corruption had no doubt existed prior to this period, the sheer scale of this new corruption and the magnitude of the resulting political scandals was unlike anything America had witnessed before. Muckraking writer Lincoln Steffens, in his book The Shame of the Cities, described the problem of the political sphere of his time by stating: politics is business. That s what s the matter with it. That s what s the matter with everything. (Steffens 2) Something clearly needed to be done to stem the rising corruption and action came as the progressive movement ... She was trying to get across important themes that are still relevant today, including the theme of physical appearance. The theme of physical appearance is shown many times in the novel and illustrates how people are judged and discriminated according to how they look and the consequences it may have on individuals. Physical appearance is the way a person looks and the features ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People, in general, are unjust when they encounter someone that look or act differently. Some were able to understand and welcome these differences and others are continuing to be ignorance of the world around them. So, when the creation was treated as a monster, he did believe that he was indeed one and hated his own looks, At first, I started back, unable to believe that it was indeed I who was reflected in the mirror; and when I became fully convinced that I was in reality the monster I am, I was filled with the bitterest sensations of despondence and mortification. He wanted to be accepted by others, but he felt worse because of his wretched looks. The monster seems to know that people hated him because of his looks, When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. • 6. Five Key Fundamentals Of Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis has many concepts that are complex for the lay reader to grasp instantaneously. To understand what working through it, some background information is considered necessary. This section introduces the relevant terminology and concepts. Current psychoanalytic theory and practice has its origin in the writing of Freud (Etchegoyen, 2005). The aim of analysis is to effect structural changes in the patient. Psychoanalysis consists of five key fundamentals: (a) resistance (b) the transference of the patient and the counter transference of the analyst, (c) the verbal material provided by the patient according to the principle of free association, (d) interpretation, and (e) working through. At first I divided the pages into three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images, information and designing the page. Important Events During American Labor Union History LABOR MANAGEMENT RELATIONS MINI CASE IMPORTANT EVENTS IN AMERICAN LABOR UNION HISTORY WEBSTER UNIVERSITY SONI VESTAL Abstract In labor as in all things there is strength in numbers it is this strength that American labor unions provide. Labor unions provide a collective voice for those who had not previously been heard. As the professor in the Frustrated Labor Historian Dr. Horace P. Karastan is left with the dilemma what are the three most important events in American labor union history it would be difficult to choose with so many important moments. There are however several events that stand out as being turning points in giving employees unquestionable protections. The Norris LaGuardia Act of 1932 allowing employees the right to organize. Further the Wagner Act protecting employees from reprisal from employers for organizing spurring the growth of unionization. The Landrum Griffin Act of 1959 building on the Wagner Act as well as the Taft Hartley Act of 1947 which granted protections from the unions. It is these Acts that have changed the landscape of American labor union history and leave us with the unions that we have today. Communism is a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. At the end of the month when they get their paychecks they both end up with the same amount of money it is not fair, right? but that is more or less what McCarthyism is. There are various forms depreciation recognized in the real estate appraisal. The following are commonly applied depreciation forms: Physical depreciation is the loss in market value due to wear and tear and the actions of the forces of nature. The following can be mentioned as a short lived curable physical deterioration: broken window, leaky plumbing, cracked paint or plaster, worn out floor cover, leaking roof. Incurable physical deterioration is a situation where the cost of repair exceeds the added value to the property as of the date of the appraisal. The official policy from the Republican platform believes that all law abiding citizens should have the right to own guns (2016 Republican Party Platform). However, recent mass shootings in California and Texas has called into question on whether the regulations that are in place are enough, or if there should be tougher background checks and restrictions on guns. The Republican Party s current stance on these recent shootings has caused a massive backlash from the media and the public, which is resulting in a rapid decrease in popularity. The American public is dismayed when they turn on the news and see reports of another mass shooting causing unnecessary deaths because of gun violence and Republican politicians are attacked on the media for not taking the necessary action of stricter gun regulations. However, with this new stance the Republicans will now support more detailed background checks and restrict the type of guns that can be owned by regular citizens. This will be heavily supported by most liberal groups but disapproved by the almost all conservative groups. Sometimes the stress and prestige can cause an adverse impact on one s position in the workplace. The ability to deal with our emotions while working effectually with others and at the same time, performing the organization s expectations are in high demand. Since the employees are an asset, and the organization is expecting a return on their investment, understanding how emotions work and how it impacts one s capacity is indispensable in accomplishing organizational goals. • 16. Gender In The Workplace Essay Gender in the Workplace: A Tradition of Discrimination Throughout history women have endured terrible injustices due to societies views and male domination. One of the most restrictive issues has been the perception of women in professional roles. In Andersen s Thinking About Women the traditional view of women s work involved them staying home where they were seen as having a moral calling to serve their families (Andersen, 2011, p. 118). These views, unpopular as they may be, still exist today. Incredible women such as Margaret Floy Washburn and S. Josephine Baker provide valuable insights into what it was like to attempt to break from the norm and pursue professional careers in male dominated fields of the time. A modern perspective form Anne Marie Slaughter also helps demonstrate how this tradition of discrimination against women in the workplace has greatly changed during recent times. In the past, women fortunate enough to receive an education have found it difficult to thrive in a male directed society. Such was the case of Margaret Floy Washburn and S. Josephine Baker. Washburn faced discrimination in her pursuit of upper level education. Only allowed to be a hearer (Washburn, 1992, p. 134), she was allowed to attend classes at Columbia University; however she was not allowed to obtain a degree. (Washburn, 1992, p. 134). In Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, a plethora of characters share stories that reflect their personalities and lives. Several of these stories revolve around the female position and focuses on the role they play in society. Although women are usually seen as subordinate to the male, in Canterbury Tales, they are portrayed as independent human beings. Higher Zn intake is associated with improved resistance to infection and reduced duration of illness and improvements in specific lymphocyte subpopulation numbers for example T regs, Th1 and Th2 cells 37. In this study we show that zinc supplementation induced a tolerogenic phenotype in DCs both in vitro and in vivo and promoted the development of regulatory T cells and affected the Treg Th17 balance favourably to induce tolerance. DCs are major mediators of proinflammmatory and anti inflammatory (tolerogenic) responses 12. Tolerogenic DCs function by causing effector T cell deletion, anergy and induction of regulatory T cells 17. Tolerogenic DCs are induced by a variety of environmental factors such as the presence of immunosuppressive drugs, nutritional factors, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tear Gas Research Paper The US department of defense defines a non lethal weapon as a discriminate weapon that is explicitly designed and used so as to incapacitate personal or material while minimizing fatalities and undesired damage to property and environment. (Nick Lewer) In the 21st century, we have various effective non lethal weapons to combat and subdue riots. In order to protect rioters from their self s and others, the police will commonly us incapacitating chemicals, flash bangs, or kinetic impact munitions. Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the 1970s, the British brought the idea back to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is replaced by a black thick rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area below the neck; when the bullet hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950 mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). Although not intended to be deadly doctors warn, rubber bullets are unsafe and should never be used by authorities to control riots . But when it comes down to controlling hostile crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant way to turn rioters away. These are just a few non lethal weapons used by police in riots all across the United States. Non lethal weapons come in a variety of devices that can be used to subdue rioters if needed. • 34. Augustine s Letter To The Ephesians The journey of Saint Augustine into finding his faith is depicted through his writings in Confessions. Augustine was born in the year 354 AD in Hippo, a region in North Africa. Today, he is regarded to be one of the most important influencers of the development of early Christianity. However, he is not a typical saint; It took him years of philosophizing and experiential learning to be able to accept and appreciate the Christian faith. Despite pressures from Augustine s religiously devout mother Monica, who spent her life trying to sway Augustine in the direction of Christianity, Augustine firmly held the belief that Christianity was far too simple to fulfill his spiritual desires. Augustine constantly wrestled with an internal struggle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul s letter to the Ephesians is written while he is held in prison. He proposes a guideline based on the gospel to explain how to live a life filled with God s grace. Paul writes that before the introduction of Jesus teachings, people were trapped in a life of sin, hopelessness, and greed. Now, Jesus has provided a way for people to manifest a new form of humanity. This humanity is meant to be celebrated through God s grace. Although Paul is in prison, he is still able to look to God to help him, while appreciating the gift of God s grace. This emphasized how Paul is a model for followers of Jesus because he looks toward his faith to guide him through a troubled time. Paul sets up a conclusion to his letter by comparing the principles of an old humanity versus the desired principles of a new humanity. For example, Paul encourages truth over lies, peace over anger or hatred, and forgiveness over retribution. In other terms, Paul is discouraging sinful attributes and encouraging the attributes that will lead to living a faithful life under the word of God. Paul concludes his message to the Ephesians with a passage that provides a summation of what it takes to live life as a devout and true follower of Jesus. He writes, Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay 4.3 Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed an internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between 0 and 1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements (Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it is expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items variance (from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on the test length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention that it was decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the questionnaire s internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items distributed in five dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the instrument was redesigned to 20 items, as is shown in Graphic 4. • 36. Principal Doctrines Of Epicurus The principal Doctrines, are written by Epicurus who lived from 341B.C. to 270 B.C. His theory is hedonism, which is rooted in pleasure. The book speaks of pain as being only temporary, and that it is only a pleasure over pain (V). This is a way of life to see the pleasures that life offers are what Epicurus is saying. And although, no Pleasure is a bad thing in itself, The results of obtaining the pleasure can bring greater displeasures (VIII). He is looking for the most pleasures one can get, and I suppose if he was not happy with his job, that he would quit. I can see Epicurus, avoiding a lot of things within his life because they would bring pain and frustration, like driving in rush hour. The idea sounds like he is living the simple life, or a hermit s life. The first four Principal Doctrines, deal with anxiety in people s lives, and how they should think. Epicurus, is telling people not to fear death, God, nor pains in one s life because they do not last long and they are for the week. The problem with this way of thinking, is that it removes the true God from the person s life. But, that is not what he is saying. He, believed that the true life of pleasure consisted in an attitude of imperturbable emotional calm which needed only simple pleasures, a healthy diet, a prudent moral life, and good friends (pg. 342). This is quit opposite of what people say of Epicureanism in today s time. Epicurus, does not believe in the natural science or the god s, as they would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both academically and socially. There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. This Workshop took place on Saturday February 13. Right at the beginning of the workshop I was surprised by the number of people in attendance. There were at least 25 total people there and only about 8 of them were from Duquesne. I could tell a large number of people had not had very much experience with eurythmics because they looked in shock when Mr. Neely asked everyone to take their shoes and socks off. Being in class with Mrs. Rea every week, I expected this, but a large number of people did not. After everyone gothic shoes off, we headed around the room and stood there. Mr. Neely then asked ... In general, a Japanese person will live with their parents until they are officially married, this also means during the dating process. This is different from the more western tradition of moving in once the relationship is getting serious. The Japanese refrain from moving in with each other to prevent the couple from having sex before they are married. However, this doesn t prevent sexual activity during the relationship. The couple could go to love hotels, karaoke booths, the backs of cars, and public parks. This isn t a taboo topic, but it isn t openly discussed either. Japanese people also stay with their parents until marriage to motivate themselves to get married at some point in their lives, rather than live with their parents for the rest of their days. Additionally, if one lives with their parents for too long and the parents are not okay with this, the parents will then resort to marrying off the child. Although arranged marries aren t the tradition anymore, it is used as a last resort. But, a child can have an arranged all together. In the previous generations arranged marriages were the custom thing to have, but the recent generation has progressed, and it is now accepted to date around and pick a spouse.
