How Is Odysseus A Good Role Model
Many people do not realize the hardships Odysseus went through while being gone from Ithaca, his
home, for over 20 years. Odysseus was a very brave leader during the Trojan War, and he helped the
Greeks win with his smart and sophisticated ideas. Odysseus was a role model to the Greeks because
of his great leading skills, and I think he would be a role model for people anywhere in today s world.
First, Odysseus had to leave his wife and son which was hard for him, but he did it for the good of his
country in the upcoming war. Odysseus is also a great role model because of how fearless he was
having to go through many different obstacles on his way back home after the war. Finally, many
admired Odysseus of being great because of how he could outsmart any problem he ran into and avoid
the danger of it. Odysseus intelligence and bravery helped him become a great role model. ... Show

According to enotes.com Odysseus is seen as a role model because of how he had to leave his family
and country behind him just to help the Greeks win the Trojan War. Enotes.com says Odysseus put
aside his own desires and selflessly gives himself to warfare for his country. From this site they are
trying to say that Odysseus wanted the best for his country even if he had to leave his family. This
shows he is a great role model because he will do what is best for his country and the rest of the
people in Ithaca. Odysseus knew what needed to be done even if it damages his relationship with his

Richard Serr Art And Visual Experience
Richard Serra Richard Serra was born in 1938 in San Francisco, California. He studied at the
University of California and at Yale University as well. He is one of the well known American artists
and sculptors of the Post Abstract Expressionist period. His work has played a major role in advancing
the tradition of modern abstract sculpture. His work has been able to draw a new perspective to
sculpture by viewers in physical and visual experience. Richard Serra was involved in the process Art
movement and currently works in Tribeca, New York and on Cape Breton Island in Novia Scotia. I
believe the background of the artist has a great contribution to the works he has created. Living and
working the New York could have been the main factor to why Richard Serra has made these tall
structures that kind of represent walls or towers. It may depict how the city of New York is seen to be
portrayed as. Many different kind of buildings and sort of an industrial looking area with many
structures and buildings surrounding the millions of people that walk through it every single day. This
may have been why he had decided to create his sculptures for people to walk through and around
them to see what he is trying to portray. Richard Serra made his first sculpture out of materials such as
fiberglass, rubber, and molten lead. Around 1970s, Serra had shifted his normal activities and stated to
work on large scale site specific sculptures. He creates these sculptures that are a lot

The Experience Of An Indian Citizen
As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason.
When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what to
expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do
something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going
to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience India
from the perspective of an Indian citizen.
As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to dinner
and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as fast. The
majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We would sit in the
blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the water rowing against
the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars, constantly bombarding you, asking
for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less fortunate people money, but instead, offer
them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy
drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. I carried these same
experiences over to India with me. But India is much different than America. You cannot walk a foot
without seeing a beggar on the side of the road.

Suicide, The Silent Killer
suicide, The Silent Killer
Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death across all ages in the United States. It is also the second
leading cause of death for 15 35 year olds nationwide. The World Health Organization (or WHO)
estimates that approximately 1 million people die every year from suicide. However, almost twice that
number that attempt it and survived. In Georgia suicide is the third leading cause of death with
roughly 1,000 death per year. Suicide has lasting effects on families and communities; Understanding
the risk factors, recognizing the warning signs and taking them seriously suicide becomes very
preventable.
What drives people to suicide? To the individuals not at the grips of suicidal depression and despair, it
can be very difficult to understand what drives many to take their own lives. To a suicidal person,
suicide is a very desperate attempt to escape from all of the suffering that has become incredibly
unbearable. Blinded by feelings of self loathing, hopelessness, and isolation, a suicidal person cannot
see any other possible way of finding relief except through death. But, even though desperate in their
desire to stop the pain, some suicidal people have become very deeply conflicted about ending their
lives. They wish there was an alternative, but just simply cannot see one.
Who is most affected by this? Every suicide is a tragedy that has major effects on various families,
communities and even entire countries; it has long lasting effects on the

The Discovery Of Gold Rush
The westward expansion of the United States in the 19th century and the astonishing success of that
expansion can be traced back to the discovery of gold. The California Gold Rush was an event that
forever changed the West and sparked the dream of endless riches for many Americans and people
worldwide. The year was 1848, and a man by the name of James Wilson Marshall, while working on
the construction of a mill, came across nuggets of gold at the base of the Sierra Nevada in the
Sacramento Valley. Wilson and his employer, John Sutter made attempts to keep their discovery a
secret but soon enough the news got out and spread like wildfire. It wasn t until 1949 that people from
all over made their journey to California to have their share in the riches of gold. There were two main
means of travel for those who wished to take part in the gold rush, both were of month s travel, six to
be exact. One method included a boat voyage down the tip of South America while the other offered a
treacherous travel through the wilderness of the mainland. Both were extremely dangerous and
expensive. Those whose dream of riches that made the trip to the California became known as 49ers as
in that year, and those following, caused an enormous influx of population as hundreds of thousands
of people flooded into mining towns. The Americans who made the trip came with an idea that they
would make it big due to the over exaggerated newspaper articles that at most times boarded on
fantasy. The 49ers

What Are The Similarities Between Michelangelo And...
I have chosen to compare and contrast the two David s, sculpted by two different individuals,
Michelangelo and Donatello. Although both sculptures look extremely different they both carry
various correlations to each other. Both artist were very famous during the renaissances time period
and both should be deeply appreciated for their artwork. This paper shall compare the two David s
from each artist, explaining the key differences and stunning similarities. Michelangelo crafted his,
David, during the time period of 1501 1505, which is now located in the Galleria dell Accademia,
Florence. While Donatello s, David, was made approximately during the time of 1446 1460(?), and is
now located at the Mueso Nazionale del Bargello, Florence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both David s present a very warrior like construct and seems like they are ready for war. Although,
Donatello s David looks as though he has already finished his fight. Donatello s David stands and can
look a bit more feminine especially the way his hand is bent onto his hips and the way he wears his hat
on top of his longer hair. Also Donatello portrays his figure to look very much younger than to what
Michelangelo s David looks like. Nonetheless since Donatello s David seems too look like it took
place after a fight, the figure is shown to have one foot proudly on top of his opponents head, Goliath,
which in Donatello s David, he strikes Goliath with a sword while Michelangelo s used a sling and
stone to his head. Unlike Donatello s David, Michelangelo s looks as if he has not attacked yet, but
looks more as if he strategizing how he will do so. Michelangelo s sculpture portrays a more
masculine figure and shorter hair and without a sword, as he holds a rock in one hand and a sling in
another. Both David s carry similar stories of how they had slain the giant Goliath, although how they
had done it and the way they portray such task are extremely

Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process
When it comes to conflict in the workplace, it is not a question of if it will occur, but rather a question
of when. There is also a question of how well managers will deal with this conflict and if it will
become constructive or destructive (Hynes, 2010, p. 237). John Dewey recommends using a 6 stage
process that reasonable individuals can use to solve a problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey
recommends first defining a problem, analyzing a problem and then brainstorming possible answers to
the problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). He then recommends identifying the parameters of what must
occur to eliminate a problem, choosing the best solution from identified options and then
implementing the chosen solution (Hynes, 2010, p. 311).
Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process The conflict described in Case 10 1 is a classic case of a
non managerial employee being pulled in multiple directions by managerial employees. Rankin, a non
managerial employee in the Credit department, often helps Sims, the manager of Accounting (Hynes,
2010, p. 238). However, sales have been increasing so Rankin has not been able to help Sims as often
as she previously had been because she has also needed to assist the Sales department (Hynes, 2010,
p. 238). As a result, Sims approached Martinez, the manager of Sales, and told him that she needed
Rankin s assistance more than he needed her help in assisting the Sales department (Hynes, 2010, p.
238). Basically, a conflict over a resource ensued

Essay On Withlacoochee River Park
The Withlacoochee River Park lies on four hundred and six acres of land, however, the area it is
essentially part of is much larger system known as the Green Swamp, a 560,000 acre area that supplies
a massive amount of drinking water to our state s population. In addition, the swamp provides habitats
for a plethora of Florida s native wildlife, including alligators, white tailed deer, and black bears. The
Green Swamp is also contains one of the largest cypress swamps in the state of Florida, meaning
Withlacoochee River Park is a highly important ecological asset to Florida s natural environment. To
begin, Withlacoochee River Park is both ecologically and hydrologically important, for not only does
it supply most of central Florida with its drinking water, but also encompasses parts of the

natural environment that Florida has to offer. These trees and waterways have a great potential, in that
they have the ability to inspire the next generation of scientists and policy writers, simply because they
enjoyed walking through the park during their childhoods. This is extremely important, as ecology
directly involves how people interact with their environment based off of the knowledge and respect
they have for it. In conclusion, Withlacoochee River Park is vitally important to Florida s natural
habitat. The lack of industrial development of the Green Swamp and the areas that make it up have led
to a biological haven for a plethora of species and allowed for near pristine water conditions. The
ecological importance of this geographical location is tremendous, and if we lost it to development or
pollution, it would be a great loss for the state of

Architectural Styles Of The Ottoman Empire
Distinguishable characteristics like the form, method of construction, regional features, and the
materials used to make a building or any other construction, which helps in identifying that structure
amongst others are what comprise an architectural style. Architectural styles have a vast diversity as
they represent changes in beliefs, religion, fashion, and the invention of new technology over a broad
time period. Over the ages, different empires would rule over a region with each ruler of those empires
having their own unique perspective on their religion. Subsequently, when new empires would come
in power, they would then take inspiration from the previous empire s architecture and add or remove
characteristics from the architecture based on their personal religious perspectives.
In the same way, the Ottoman empire was influenced by styles of architecture from the preceding
empires, namely the Byzantine, Iranian, and Islamic architectural styles. As a result, the Ottoman
empire s architectural style has resemblances with the Romanesque architecture, which is a blend of
the ancient Roman and Byzantine architectures. And it also has similarities with the Gothic
architecture which was heavily influenced by the Romanesque architecture and subsequently by the
Renaissance architecture. However, all three of these architectural styles also have their differences
due to individual religious perspectives.
The Byzantine architecture made with architectural traditions of the

Quantitative risk assessment
it assesses the value in terms quantity lost in the contract within different periods of completion.
On time: completion of projects on time is set out in the contract. Time is saved, and value in terms of
money is saved. Six months are enough to complete the project at the said cost of $3 million dollars.
One month early: the quantity of time is greatly saved, and the cost is saved considerably. The teams
required to make deliveries within the alternating Mondays can maximize the number of hours worked

Two months late: additional time comes with added cost and expenses in the contract. More than $3

the security requirements of the US government are absolute and must be followed to the letter.
On time with required security: ensure that the project is within the US acceptable standards. The

Analysis Of Delta Airlines Flight 1086 Landed On Runway Essay
On March 5, 2015, Delta Airlines flight 1086 landed on runway 13 at La Guardia Airport (KLGA);
shortly afterwards skidding off the runway and coming to rest on a coastal embankment. While
investigating the accident it was found that there were many contributing factors that led to the
runway excursion by the aircraft, all of which could have been prevented with better crew resource
management.
A factor that led to the MD 88 to veer of the side of the runway was the poor decision making process
that was used to land at La Guardia. At the time of arrival the weather was low visibility, accumulating
snow and ice fog. While enroute the flight crew continually monitored the weather at LGA to assess
the landing performance. The flight crew referred to Delta s contaminated runway crosswind
limitations and recognized that the crosswind would be at Delta s 10 knot limit if the runway braking
action was reported to be medium/poor. The controller asked them if they could accept the ILS
runway 13 approach? The first officer replied asking for braking action in which the controller had no
reports on it at the time due to snow removal and no aircraft were landing. By 1037, the flight crew
received a message on the ACARS from dispatch about runway 13/31 closure. Turns out the runway
was closed for snow removal operations at KLGA. At this point in time, the pilots seemed to be
surprised to have received this message after the controller just asked them if they could accept an
approach to

The Opening Night In The Theater Play Analysis
As the lights dim in the theatre, I know that my husband is in for an interesting experience, as he has
no background knowledge (other than the quick Cole s notes version I gave in the car ride to Grand

Boy, was I right.
The opening night of Drayton Entertainment s Chicago at the Huron Country Playhouse had the
audience captured from the start. Lots of long legs, toned abs and barely there costumes along with
amazing musically talented ensemble definitely grab the attention of all in the theatre. This is not a

The darker, sultry side of life in the 1920s Chicago comes alive through edgy dancing, strong musical
numbers and humour as the cast razzle dazzles its way through the story of the two divas, Velma Kelly

Magna Carta Clauses
Only 4 of the 63 are still in operation today and 2 of them will forever be replicated in other countries
legal system. Clauses, 39 and 40, in the Magna Carta are both significant to many legal frameworks
around the globe today. Clause 39 and 40 states:
No free man shall be seized, imprisoned, dispossessed, outlawed, exiled or ruined in any way, nor in
any way proceeded against, except by the lawful judgement of his peers and the law of the land. To no
one will we sell, to no one will we deny or delay right or justice. (The Contents of the Magna Carta,
2018).
These clauses gave all the free men of the land the rights to be prosecuted by lawful and legal
judgement of its peers and land. No one could refute or postpone the right of justice. Unfortunately,
the newly signed Charter only applied to free men of the land, not peasants. Many peasants were
slaves to their owners and they had no rights outlined in the document (Breay Harrison, 2014). ...

Religiously, the Magna Carta also served as purpose. Many of the original clauses of the document
safeguarded specific material interests of church and clergy (Helmholz, 2016). For example, Clause 22

Germans Into Nazis by Peter Fritzsche Essay
German s Into Nazis by Peter Fritzsche
1) Germany before the Fuhrer. Germany s defeat at the end of World War I left the nation socially,
politically, and economically shattered. The reparation agreements inflicted upon Germany without its
consent at the end of the war meant that the nation was in complete financial ruin. In the wake of
Germany s defeat, public decent climaxed on the 9th November 1918 during the revolution that took
place on Berlin s Postdamer Platz. This revolution transpired as a result of the public s culminating
discontent towards the imperial monarchy, and lasted up until August 1919, which saw the
establishment of the Weimar Republic. In attempts to guide Germany out of economic ... Show more

By February, Communist demonstrations were forbidden, as were Communist newspapers and offices,
which were destroyed. Police restrictions and military forces marched in line with the Nazi party,
leading to a reduction in anti Nazi operations. These final counterdemonstrations were the last
manifestations of public anti Nazism in Germany.
3) The ascent of National Socialism. In 1923, Hitler held a meeting of all high ranking Nazis in a beer
hall in Munich, where he revealed his plans for a coup. This failed attempt to overthrow the Weimar
government would later be known as the Munich Putsch, which gave the Nazi s unparalleled publicity
. The use of the radio in order to spread the National socialist message played a pivotal role in the
Nazi parties popular rise in society. Due to the ramifications that Germany faced after the First World
War, the nation had unquestionably lost faith in tradition and their priorities had shifted to populist
nationalism. On the eve of Hitler s appointment, victory parades took place in dozens of German
settlements. The capital saw nearly a million Berliners demonstrate their commitment to the National
Socialist party who had pledged to establish a strong willed and strong armed racial state in a very

presence came about at the perfect time, filling the void created by populace sentiment. Much of the

Flynn Character
The character of Flynn is very likable and relatable. It s easy to care about her. She s not perfect but
that s why the audience likes her. Consider exploring the idea of her fear of abandonment a bit more.
She mentions her father leaving when she was young. This would explain her need to give Chase a
consistent and secure father. It would also trigger some feelings about Nathan leaving her and her
feelings that he abandoned her, especially when she was pregnant, even though he didn t know about
her pregnancy.
At the end, she grows as a character as she realizes not just what is best for her, but what is best for
Chase and Nathan. She also decides to explore her art passion again, which she abandoned, perhaps
out of guilt and/or that she lost a sense of her own identity when Nathan left. One isn t sure why she

Many utilities are monopolies by having the entire market share in certain areas. With deregulation of
these utilities, the market becomes open to competition for market share to begin. In terms of

What Is The Character Of George Eliot sThe Mill On The Floss
Throughout The Mill on the Floss, George Eliot embodies the struggle between following one s
temperament and containing one s natural tendencies in the character of Maggie Tulliver. As the novel
follows her coming of age, Maggie grows from being an impulsive, dreamy child to a young woman
who struggles with subduing her passions. In containing her personality, Maggie struggles internally;
and this containment further manifests in her hair, one of her most noteworthy features. Unruly in her
childhood, her hair becomes continually contained as Maggie subdues more of her natural personality.
Yet, Maggie s unruly hair, along with her rash persona, returns in the final chapter of the novel.
Ultimately, following this struggle of subduing natural temperament, manifested in the presentation of
Maggie s hair, suggests that quelling one s natural personality is as dangerous as never controlling one
s temperament. In chronicling Maggie s childhood, Eliot highlights the rash and dreamy qualities that
dominate Maggie s personality. Rather than be the neatest little rosebud like her cousin Lucy, Maggie
is more unruly and this leads her maternal aunts to view her with a critical eye, especially in regards to
her unkempt hair (Eliot 58). It is this critique of her hair that spurs Maggie to demonstrate her
impulsive streak as she decides to cut her hair. Once Maggie realizes the haphazardness of her
handiwork, the narrator states, Maggie rushed to her deeds with passionate impulse, and

I did notice a flaw in the story line in relation to therapy, however. The flaw was that Bob seemed to
get progressively better at a very fast rate. In relation to his diagnosis of multi phobic personality
characterized by acute separation anxiety and the extreme need for family connections along with the
ones I found such as OCD, agoraphobia and dependent personality disorder. All of the problems seem
to go away with little to no time except for the dependent personality disorder which would not
happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the dependent part right because Bob always put his
happiness above the Doctor which fits what a person with dependent personality disorder would do.
Another thing that I noticed was that Dr. Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the
house. He never tries to have a session or get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not
leave. Instead of being so wrapped up with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob.
With the right treatment Bob might have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for
comedic purpose, was that counselors are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. This movie
was a pretty accurate portrayal of a patient with dependent personality, multi phobic personality
disorder, extreme need for family connections and acute separation anxiety. This movie is not only
funny to watch but also a psychological movie for counselors to

Monarch Butterflies And Habitat Loss Essay
Monarch Butterflies and Habitat Loss To begin with, this there is an estimated 109 million monarchs

butterflies will spend in Mexico their winter hibernation, and also in of Southern California because in

butterflies see the plants and they are going to rest there or they are going to pollinate them, but what
the butterflies don t know is that the plants have pesticide and they lend on them and latter on they die.
And the last solution is that people start planting new milkweed trees.Because if all the people start
doing it the monarch butterflies population will increase because now they are going to have enough
food for all of them and they are going to finish their life cycle and they can do all their migration for
their lives. All the people should be traing to protect the monarch butterflies because they are one of

Formalist Criticism In The Giant By N. C. Wyeth
Formalist Criticism In this printed reproduction of The Giant by N. C. Wyeth the artist shows six
small children on the beach watching a large cloud like giant walk across the horizon. The visual
culture of the painting would categorize it as fine art. Fine art in Western cultures consist of oil
painting, sculpture and architecture but now includes all kinds of media such as film, photography,
prints, and most recently performance (Lazzari, 11 12). The original painting was a 5 foot by 6 foot oil
painting. The giant is very large in scale compared to the children and takes up more than three
quarters of the height of the picture (Lazzari, 44). This makes the focal point of the painting vertical,
but it does contain some horizontal points in the children lined up and the streak of cloud going across
the middle. He is almost transparent and appears to be the same consistency of the clouds. He is
carrying a large club over his shoulder and his other hand is fisted. He is wearing a tunic that has one
shoulder strap and a belt with large silver medallions on it. He has long brownish hair that is blowing
backwards as he is walking forward. He is drawn on a diagonal which also gives him the feeling of
forward movement. He also appears in the background of the picture, while the children appear in the
foreground. The children are facing the ocean and the giant so we do not see their faces, only the back
of their heads. The children are painted in darker colors than the

Role Of Gladiatorial Sports In Roman Times

Latin Ms.Cella Period 3
Sports During The Roman Time Period During the Roman Times from (31 BCE to 476 CE) sports
were both things that many did in their daily life and as well as Roman Fighting games. Not all
Roman games were violent and played by men. Many Roman kids would swim, ride horses, hunt and
fish, play board games during their leisure time. Sports were very important to the Romans because
some had a religious meaning to them. Gladiatorial games in Ancient Rome and modern sports have
more in common than some would think. Violence has been a key component to the success of each of
these games. Many spectators watched as the Coliseum was filled with blood from brutal gladiatorial
matches. These days, hundreds of people watch two men fight in a boxing ring. After thinking about
gladiatorial games and looking at modern sports see similarities between the two. The Romans
believed that they inherited the practice of gladiatorial games from the Etruscans who used them as
part of a funeral ritual. The first gladiatorial games were offered in Rome in 264 BCE by sons of

Music Is A Universal Language
Music is a universal language. Covach and Flory introduce us to the history of rock and roll by saying
rock music was born out of controversy, and its rebellious image has always appealed to music lovers.
As music historians look back on the last century, it is obvious that popular music has always played a
role in the recent development of the Western musical tradition, and rock music in particular has been
popular. Rock has had a profound impact on the world of music in general. ( Covach and Flory 3). The
influence of electric blues was heard in the music of Mexican born guitarist Carlos Santana who
emerged from the San Francisco psychedelic scene in 1969. Santana combined psychedelia with Latin
rhythms and percussion to eventually make him as famous as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Duane
Allman and Jimmy Page (Covach and Flory 311). His music is often referred to as Latin rock.
Carlos Santana was born on July 20, 1947, in Autlan, Jalisco, Mexico. His father was Jose Santana, a
Mariachi Violinist. He taught Carlos how to play the violin at approximately five years old. His
mother, Josefina Barragan, stayed at home raising her seven children while his father traveled as a
musician. At about the age of eight years old Carlos learned to play the guitar. In 1955 the family

Passing By Nella Larsen Analysis
Obsession over Sexuality
Passing by Nella Larsen is a very peculiar novel of race, identity, family, friendship, love, and
sexuality. Her novel portrays the characteristics and symbols of the racial society of 1920s. Larsen
used Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry as examples of light skinned African American of this Harlem
Renaissance. Both women appear similar, but their views on race, family and friendship were
significantly different. Clare differs from Irene by the fact that she uses her appearance as an
advantage, leaving behind her motherhood and her racial identity to gain attention and wealth. For
these two women, sexuality appeals to one another. Larsen presents Irene s sexuality towards Clare as
being dominated by obsession.
Irene s strange attraction and jealousy toward Clare is reveal throughout the novel, which started at the

Don Giovanni Essay
Produced by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787, Don Giovanni is regarded as one the best operas
ever made. The piece is based on the legend of Don Juan, an illusory libertine and seducer of women
(Kerns, 2010). At first, Mozart s opera seems more like a story of the romantic adventures of a
dissolute nobleman and his disgrace. However, there is much more to Don Giovanni than just a series
of events and serious laughs, just as the protagonist is much more than a notorious, single minded, and
unprincipled seducer. Closer examination of the piece reveals its core themes of social classes and
divisions as depicted by Leporello s complaints about his servitude to his employer in the first scene
(Mozart, Fisher, Ponte, 2007). The play also touches on vital human traits and principles, including
loyalty, faithfulness, and sincerity. More importantly, Don Giovanni centers on the ambiguity intrinsic
to human relations, the intricate connection between life and death, and the interminable tension
between love and the risk of its extermination.
Don Giovanni can be characterized as a comic opera due to its indulgence with tragic themes, such as
crime and murder, in an astoundingly funny manner. By definition, an opera is an art form in which
the composers combine dramatic works with musical scores and libretto or text in theatrical settings.
The singing may be either melodic or recitative. Traditionally, operas incorporate most of the typical
elements of spoken theatre, including

Frankenstein Age Of Enlightenment Analysis

Ensuing the Age of Enlightenment s process of scientific reasoning, a Romantic movement emerged.
Central to new found ways of thinking, and fundamental to the conceptualisation of free thought and
nature s relevance in pronouncing the deeper, sub textual meaning of humanity. Lord Byron s 1816

Lord Byron s Darkness tackles humanities degradation, through a post apocalyptic description of earth
in order to challenge societies ignorance relating to nature s significant role in sustaining genuine life
and developing truth. Composed in the Year Without A Summer, whereby the world was succumbed in
volcanic ash clouds, Byron cultivates a sense of irony and metaphorical substance in the title of this
poem. Darkness itself expounds on the fear and uncertainty striking society contextually. Thus, the
bleak, gloomy mood is symbolic of the dangers incited when forgoing nature s bliss in the industrial
metropolis which ultimately disregards core ways of Romantic thinking. Aiding such is the
paradoxical remark of I had a dream, which was not at all a dream here true existence is intertwined
with an elusive reality. Subsequently, Byron s perplexing tone prompts the audience to query the
corruptive demeanour of humankind within the natural world as civilisations consecutively and

  • 2. How Is Odysseus A Good Role Model Many people do not realize the hardships Odysseus went through while being gone from Ithaca, his home, for over 20 years. Odysseus was a very brave leader during the Trojan War, and he helped the Greeks win with his smart and sophisticated ideas. Odysseus was a role model to the Greeks because of his great leading skills, and I think he would be a role model for people anywhere in today s world. First, Odysseus had to leave his wife and son which was hard for him, but he did it for the good of his country in the upcoming war. Odysseus is also a great role model because of how fearless he was having to go through many different obstacles on his way back home after the war. Finally, many admired Odysseus of being great because of how he could outsmart any problem he ran into and avoid the danger of it. Odysseus intelligence and bravery helped him become a great role model. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to enotes.com Odysseus is seen as a role model because of how he had to leave his family and country behind him just to help the Greeks win the Trojan War. Enotes.com says Odysseus put aside his own desires and selflessly gives himself to warfare for his country. From this site they are trying to say that Odysseus wanted the best for his country even if he had to leave his family. This shows he is a great role model because he will do what is best for his country and the rest of the people in Ithaca. • 3. Richard Serr Art And Visual Experience Richard Serra Richard Serra was born in 1938 in San Francisco, California. He studied at the University of California and at Yale University as well. He is one of the well known American artists and sculptors of the Post Abstract Expressionist period. His work has played a major role in advancing the tradition of modern abstract sculpture. His work has been able to draw a new perspective to sculpture by viewers in physical and visual experience. Richard Serra was involved in the process Art movement and currently works in Tribeca, New York and on Cape Breton Island in Novia Scotia. I believe the background of the artist has a great contribution to the works he has created. Living and working the New York could have been the main factor to why Richard Serra has made these tall structures that kind of represent walls or towers. It may depict how the city of New York is seen to be portrayed as. Many different kind of buildings and sort of an industrial looking area with many structures and buildings surrounding the millions of people that walk through it every single day. This may have been why he had decided to create his sculptures for people to walk through and around them to see what he is trying to portray. Richard Serra made his first sculpture out of materials such as fiberglass, rubber, and molten lead. Around 1970s, Serra had shifted his normal activities and stated to work on large scale site specific sculptures. He creates these sculptures that are a lot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Experience Of An Indian Citizen As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason. When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what to expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience India from the perspective of an Indian citizen. As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to dinner and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as fast. The majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We would sit in the blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the water rowing against the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars, constantly bombarding you, asking for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less fortunate people money, but instead, offer them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. I carried these same experiences over to India with me. But India is much different than America. You cannot walk a foot without seeing a beggar on the side of the road. ... The sun ... • 6. The Discovery Of Gold Rush The westward expansion of the United States in the 19th century and the astonishing success of that expansion can be traced back to the discovery of gold. The California Gold Rush was an event that forever changed the West and sparked the dream of endless riches for many Americans and people worldwide. The year was 1848, and a man by the name of James Wilson Marshall, while working on the construction of a mill, came across nuggets of gold at the base of the Sierra Nevada in the Sacramento Valley. Wilson and his employer, John Sutter made attempts to keep their discovery a secret but soon enough the news got out and spread like wildfire. It wasn t until 1949 that people from all over made their journey to California to have their share in the riches of gold. There were two main means of travel for those who wished to take part in the gold rush, both were of month s travel, six to be exact. One method included a boat voyage down the tip of South America while the other offered a treacherous travel through the wilderness of the mainland. Both were extremely dangerous and expensive. Those whose dream of riches that made the trip to the California became known as 49ers as in that year, and those following, caused an enormous influx of population as hundreds of thousands of people flooded into mining towns. The Americans who made the trip came with an idea that they would make it big due to the over exaggerated newspaper articles that at most times boarded on fantasy. The 49ers ... Also Donatello portrays his figure to look very much younger than to what Michelangelo s David looks like. Nonetheless since Donatello s David seems too look like it took place after a fight, the figure is shown to have one foot proudly on top of his opponents head, Goliath, which in Donatello s David, he strikes Goliath with a sword while Michelangelo s used a sling and stone to his head. • 8. Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process When it comes to conflict in the workplace, it is not a question of if it will occur, but rather a question of when. There is also a question of how well managers will deal with this conflict and if it will become constructive or destructive (Hynes, 2010, p. 237). John Dewey recommends using a 6 stage process that reasonable individuals can use to solve a problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey recommends first defining a problem, analyzing a problem and then brainstorming possible answers to the problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). He then recommends identifying the parameters of what must occur to eliminate a problem, choosing the best solution from identified options and then implementing the chosen solution (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process The conflict described in Case 10 1 is a classic case of a non managerial employee being pulled in multiple directions by managerial employees. Rankin, a non managerial employee in the Credit department, often helps Sims, the manager of Accounting (Hynes, 2010, p. 238). However, sales have been increasing so Rankin has not been able to help Sims as often as she previously had been because she has also needed to assist the Sales department (Hynes, 2010, p. 238). As a result, Sims approached Martinez, the manager of Sales, and told him that she needed Rankin s assistance more than he needed her help in assisting the Sales department (Hynes, 2010, p. 238). Architectural Styles Of The Ottoman Empire Distinguishable characteristics like the form, method of construction, regional features, and the materials used to make a building or any other construction, which helps in identifying that structure amongst others are what comprise an architectural style. Architectural styles have a vast diversity as they represent changes in beliefs, religion, fashion, and the invention of new technology over a broad time period. Over the ages, different empires would rule over a region with each ruler of those empires having their own unique perspective on their religion. Subsequently, when new empires would come in power, they would then take inspiration from the previous empire s architecture and add or remove characteristics from the architecture based on their personal religious perspectives. In the same way, the Ottoman empire was influenced by styles of architecture from the preceding empires, namely the Byzantine, Iranian, and Islamic architectural styles. As a result, the Ottoman empire s architectural style has resemblances with the Romanesque architecture, which is a blend of the ancient Roman and Byzantine architectures. And it also has similarities with the Gothic architecture which was heavily influenced by the Romanesque architecture and subsequently by the Renaissance architecture. However, all three of these architectural styles also have their differences due to individual religious perspectives. The Byzantine architecture made with architectural traditions of the ... Analysis Of Delta Airlines Flight 1086 Landed On Runway Essay On March 5, 2015, Delta Airlines flight 1086 landed on runway 13 at La Guardia Airport (KLGA); shortly afterwards skidding off the runway and coming to rest on a coastal embankment. While investigating the accident it was found that there were many contributing factors that led to the runway excursion by the aircraft, all of which could have been prevented with better crew resource management. A factor that led to the MD 88 to veer of the side of the runway was the poor decision making process that was used to land at La Guardia. At the time of arrival the weather was low visibility, accumulating snow and ice fog. While enroute the flight crew continually monitored the weather at LGA to assess the landing performance. The flight crew referred to Delta s contaminated runway crosswind limitations and recognized that the crosswind would be at Delta s 10 knot limit if the runway braking action was reported to be medium/poor. The controller asked them if they could accept the ILS runway 13 approach? The first officer replied asking for braking action in which the controller had no reports on it at the time due to snow removal and no aircraft were landing. By 1037, the flight crew received a message on the ACARS from dispatch about runway 13/31 closure. Turns out the runway was closed for snow removal operations at KLGA. As the novel follows her coming of age, Maggie grows from being an impulsive, dreamy child to a young woman who struggles with subduing her passions. In containing her personality, Maggie struggles internally; and this containment further manifests in her hair, one of her most noteworthy features. Unruly in her childhood, her hair becomes continually contained as Maggie subdues more of her natural personality. Yet, Maggie s unruly hair, along with her rash persona, returns in the final chapter of the novel. Ultimately, following this struggle of subduing natural temperament, manifested in the presentation of Maggie s hair, suggests that quelling one s natural personality is as dangerous as never controlling one s temperament. In chronicling Maggie s childhood, Eliot highlights the rash and dreamy qualities that dominate Maggie s personality. Rather than be the neatest little rosebud like her cousin Lucy, Maggie is more unruly and this leads her maternal aunts to view her with a critical eye, especially in regards to her unkempt hair (Eliot 58). It is this critique of her hair that spurs Maggie to demonstrate her impulsive streak as she decides to cut her hair. Once Maggie realizes the haphazardness of her handiwork, the narrator states, Maggie rushed to her deeds with passionate impulse, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. What About Bob Essay What About Bob Critical Film Review I selected the movie What About Bob which is a comedic film based on a therapist, his family, and his new patient. The therapists name is Doctor Leo Marvin and he is a highly rated psychotherapist. His book is about to come out with the Title Baby Steps . This is the approach he begins to take on his new patient who has been bounced around from psychologist to psychologist. Dr. Leo Marvin soon finds out that his technique of Baby Steps is not working the way he has intended with the new patient known as Bob Wiley. Bob has extreme phobias making it difficult for him to leave his own house, when he finally ventures out he has to talk to himself in reassurance that everything will be okay. He connects himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did notice a flaw in the story line in relation to therapy, however. The flaw was that Bob seemed to get progressively better at a very fast rate. In relation to his diagnosis of multi phobic personality characterized by acute separation anxiety and the extreme need for family connections along with the ones I found such as OCD, agoraphobia and dependent personality disorder. All of the problems seem to go away with little to no time except for the dependent personality disorder which would not happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the dependent part right because Bob always put his happiness above the Doctor which fits what a person with dependent personality disorder would do. Another thing that I noticed was that Dr. Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the house. He never tries to have a session or get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not leave. Instead of being so wrapped up with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob. With the right treatment Bob might have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for comedic purpose, was that counselors are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. This movie was a pretty accurate portrayal of a patient with dependent personality, multi phobic personality disorder, extreme need for family connections and acute separation anxiety. This movie is not only funny to watch but also a psychological movie for counselors to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One girl is blonde, very well developed, and as she walks by you can see her breasts move back and forth with every step she takes. You will rarely see a detergent commercial during a sporting event or while surfing the web there are no half naked women in a TIDE ad. The type of advertising on the web I am talking about are the rectangular boxes that you see at the top of the screen usually with some sort of advertisement on it. Advertising companies who are targeting men will show commercials that involve beer, cars, sports figures who are endorsing the company s product, sports drinks, shaving cream, and Norelco products. These commercials are specifically directed towards men. You have to give some credit to the advertising companies; they know exactly what time of day the majority of men will be watching television and on what sites to put their attention getters. I often ask myself why are men the targets of this style of advertising for T.V. and web sites? I know I can give you several answers to these questions. The first answer would involve the stereotypical society we live in. The men are usually seen as the ones who make the most money; therefore, advertising companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Formalist Criticism In The Giant By N. C. Wyeth Formalist Criticism In this printed reproduction of The Giant by N. C. Wyeth the artist shows six small children on the beach watching a large cloud like giant walk across the horizon. The visual culture of the painting would categorize it as fine art. Fine art in Western cultures consist of oil painting, sculpture and architecture but now includes all kinds of media such as film, photography, prints, and most recently performance (Lazzari, 11 12). The original painting was a 5 foot by 6 foot oil painting. The giant is very large in scale compared to the children and takes up more than three quarters of the height of the picture (Lazzari, 44). This makes the focal point of the painting vertical, but it does contain some horizontal points in the children lined up and the streak of cloud going across the middle. He is almost transparent and appears to be the same consistency of the clouds. He is carrying a large club over his shoulder and his other hand is fisted. He is wearing a tunic that has one shoulder strap and a belt with large silver medallions on it. He has long brownish hair that is blowing backwards as he is walking forward. He is drawn on a diagonal which also gives him the feeling of forward movement. He also appears in the background of the picture, while the children appear in the foreground. As a result of the Hmong coming to the U.S. as refugees as opposed to immigrants, they didn t undergo the same self selection process which favors educated and wealthy professionals. • 37. Music Is A Universal Language Music is a universal language. Covach and Flory introduce us to the history of rock and roll by saying rock music was born out of controversy, and its rebellious image has always appealed to music lovers. As music historians look back on the last century, it is obvious that popular music has always played a role in the recent development of the Western musical tradition, and rock music in particular has been popular. Rock has had a profound impact on the world of music in general. ( Covach and Flory 3). The influence of electric blues was heard in the music of Mexican born guitarist Carlos Santana who emerged from the San Francisco psychedelic scene in 1969. Santana combined psychedelia with Latin rhythms and percussion to eventually make him as famous as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman and Jimmy Page (Covach and Flory 311). His music is often referred to as Latin rock. Carlos Santana was born on July 20, 1947, in Autlan, Jalisco, Mexico. His father was Jose Santana, a Mariachi Violinist. He taught Carlos how to play the violin at approximately five years old. His mother, Josefina Barragan, stayed at home raising her seven children while his father traveled as a musician. At about the age of eight years old Carlos learned to play the guitar. In 1955 the family moved to Tijuana, Mexico. • 40. Don Giovanni Essay Produced by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787, Don Giovanni is regarded as one the best operas ever made. The piece is based on the legend of Don Juan, an illusory libertine and seducer of women (Kerns, 2010). At first, Mozart s opera seems more like a story of the romantic adventures of a dissolute nobleman and his disgrace. However, there is much more to Don Giovanni than just a series of events and serious laughs, just as the protagonist is much more than a notorious, single minded, and unprincipled seducer. Closer examination of the piece reveals its core themes of social classes and divisions as depicted by Leporello s complaints about his servitude to his employer in the first scene (Mozart, Fisher, Ponte, 2007). The play also touches on vital human traits and principles, including loyalty, faithfulness, and sincerity. More importantly, Don Giovanni centers on the ambiguity intrinsic to human relations, the intricate connection between life and death, and the interminable tension between love and the risk of its extermination. Don Giovanni can be characterized as a comic opera due to its indulgence with tragic themes, such as crime and murder, in an astoundingly funny manner. By definition, an opera is an art form in which the composers combine dramatic works with musical scores and libretto or text in theatrical settings. The singing may be either melodic or recitative. Traditionally, operas incorporate most of the typical elements of spoken theatre, including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Central to new found ways of thinking, and fundamental to the conceptualisation of free thought and nature s relevance in pronouncing the deeper, sub textual meaning of humanity. Lord Byron s Darkness tackles humanities degradation, through a post apocalyptic description of earth in order to challenge societies ignorance relating to nature s significant role in sustaining genuine life and developing truth. Composed in the Year Without A Summer, whereby the world was succumbed in volcanic ash clouds, Byron cultivates a sense of irony and metaphorical substance in the title of this poem. Darkness itself expounds on the fear and uncertainty striking society contextually. Thus, the bleak, gloomy mood is symbolic of the dangers incited when forgoing nature s bliss in the industrial metropolis which ultimately disregards core ways of Romantic thinking. Aiding such is the paradoxical remark of I had a dream, which was not at all a dream here true existence is intertwined with an elusive reality. Subsequently, Byron s perplexing tone prompts the audience to query the corruptive demeanour of humankind within the natural world as civilisations consecutively and continually overlook their genuine existence with scientific and rational progression. Therefore, within the philosophical paradigm the notion of truth is presented with an inseparable linking to nature If mankind relentlessly questions the truth of his existence, nature will undoubtedly suffer and with it humanity fails.
