Advantages Of Pesticides In Agriculture
M. Salman Anwar Research Proposal
Title:
BIODEGRADATION OF PESTICIDES IN SOIL ENVIRONMENT
Introduction:
Wise use and preservation of the soil recourses of a country can transform a poor society into a
prosperous one (Miller and Donahue 1992)
Agriculture is a key sector in the world economy where the competition between the countries is of
great importance in terms of the production. It also contributes about 25% of GDP of Pakistan and
provides livelihood directly to 70% of its rural population. In these conditions, pesticides are
commonly used to reach a definite quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Their generalised
use is attributed to (i) increase the quantitative and qualitative yields (ii) limit the irregularities of crop
production linked to the great parasitic catastrophe (iii) protect the food reserves and many more. It
has been estimated that about 3000 5000 tones of pesticides are used predominately only in Cotton
growing areas of Pakistan (ESCAP Virtual Conference June 16, 2007). According to a report of IFEN,
pesticides are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous studies concerning the pesticide degradation highlighted the microbial degradation as a
primary mechanism of pesticide dissipation from the soils (Cox et al., 1996; Pieuchot et al., 1996).
Along with this degradation of pesticide, these micro organisms also perform many other beneficial
functions like decomposition of organic matter, release of certain enzymes and plant growth
regulators, with having no destructive impact on soil fertility and structure that some more vigorous
conventional technologies may have, such as acid extraction and soil washing. So Biodegradation
should be used to reduce increased soil and underground water pollution caused by excessive use of

John Drygen And John Dryden And Shakespeare s Roles In Poetry
INTRODUCTION
The metaphysical poets have immense power and capability to wonder the reader and cajole inventive
perspective through paradoxical images, subtle argument, innovative syntax and imagery from art,
philosophy and religion implying an extended metaphor known as conceit. The term metaphysical
broadly applied to English and European poets of the seventeenth century was used by Augustan poets
John Dryden and Samuel Johnson to reprove those poets for their unnaturalness . John Dryden was the
first to use the term metaphysical in association with John Donne as he affects the metaphysics.
Goethe, likewise, wrote, the unnatural, that too is natural and metaphysical poets are studied for their
intricacy and originality. It will not be irrelevant and absurd to say, Metaphysics in poetry is the fruit
of the Renaissance tree, becoming over ripe and approaching putrescence (C. S. Lewis). Scholars
described the characteristics of metaphysical poetry from different point of view. They, in fact, lay out
the essence of metaphysical poem, as does R.S. Hillyer to call Loosely, it has taken such meanings as
these metaphysical poetry as difficult, philosophical, obscure, ethereal, involved, supercilious,
ingenious, fantastic and incongruous.
EPIGRAM AND DONNE S METAPHYSICAL POETRY
Concentration is one of the features of metaphysical poetry especially in Donne s poetry because he
introduces the readers to the new realm of argument and the closely interwoven thought,

1.1 Swarm Intelligence
Swarm intelligence was been proposed and induced in the Artificial Intelligence by Beni and Wang
[10] in 1989. It was been applied in the context of cellular robotic systems. Swarm Intelligence are
basically small agents or living organisms which will collectively work together and make optimality
or the group work will end with some beneficiary report. Inspiration from those group works and
turning it into the artificial things and making those ideas possible in the computers to attain some sort
of goal is called swarm intelligence. The inspiration basically from the nature and to be ... Show more

optimal solutions where the problem consists of many constraints. Fuzzy problems and uncertainty
problems can also be optimized by ACO. For example Traffic Signalling Problem: in this the traffic
signal will be safe until or unless the capacity of the signal increase and once it occurs there may be a
chance of colliding somewhere either in the front or in the tail of the signal. It may result in a loss of

High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act...
High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of
particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care
outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center
model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed
Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care.
The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study
confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health
care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened
and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the
construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care.
After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the
Patewood Memorial Hospital.
Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in
Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York
counties. The Charleston Birth Place and Greenville Birth Center are the only CABC accredited
birthing centers in the state. After just five years of operation, The Charleston birth Place is delivering

The Age Of The Vampire
The Age of the Vampire From Literature to Twilight, Vampires have been in the public eye for
decades. The characteristics may change as will the looks but they have the same amount of
popularity. It all started in 1897, the writings of Bram Stoker gave the world the story of Dracula. This
story is considered the source material for all vampires to follow. Many of the characteristics laid out
in Dracula can still be easily found in current vampire movies. Though there was never a golden age
for vampire movies, as it is a subgenre for film, it did greatly participate in the golden age of horror
films, giving greatly to the popularity of horror films. This popularity still demands a very active hold
on film goers today. Bela Lugosi is the poster child for the character of Dracula. He set the tone for
what a good vampire in the 1931 film Dracula. After Lugosi, Christopher Lee is the next person
credited with the popularity of vampire movies. Lee has starred in 10 separate movies as Count
Dracula, the quality of the movies and Lee s prior acting credits gave way to the resurgence of Dracula
in the mid 1900 s. All of these credits however mean nothing in the world of film without the movies
that kicked everything off, Nosferatu, the 1922 film keeps true to the book Dracula. This allowed a
new archetype to come to the world of film. This archetype however, has undergone dramatic changes
over the decades. From Nosferatu to the new release of Dark Shadows, change has clearly

Compare And Contrast The Lottery And First They Came
The theme of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson and First They Came By Martin Niemoller standing up
for what is right may not always be the easiest path. The theme means it can be hard to stand up for
what you think is right and a lot of times people are afraid of what people think. The lottery is about
an event every year during the summer that everyone in the village gathers for this event, The
husbands of each family draws out of the black box and whoever gets the black dot gets stoned. First
they came is about that if you don t have anyone who stands ups for you no one will speak up for you.

Although it does not usually make news headlines and is rarely discussed, nursing home residents and
the elderly experience abuse sometimes on a daily basis. Medical errors, physical abuse, or stealing
from them could all be classified as abuse. All around the world today, a population that is not able to
help itself is being harmed, whether it is physical or sexual abuse, exploitation, or not being properly
supervised; the elderly and nursing home residents are being abused.

Over all, there are many types of abuse, from physical abuse to rough living conditions, that elderly
and nursing home residents experience quite often.
Statistics
Anyone can abuse a nursing home resident from their nurses to their own family members. There has
only one been national study to try to explain who abuses residents more, according to the
NCEA(2011), and at approximately 90% of them were abused by family members. Just as well abuse
can occur anywhere from their own houses to nursing homes. According to a study from 2000, 2,000
residents were polled and 44% of them stated they had been abused. Other research from the NCEA
states that persons with dementia are at a much higher risk for abuse. A study that had been conducted
in 2010 revealed that 47% of elderly with dementia had been abused. Abuse definitely takes an impact
on these people. Statistics, again from NCEA, have shown that elders who have been abused have a
300% higher risk of death over those not abused. They also have many more psychological and
medical problems than a non abused person.
Cases of Abuse There are have been many cases of nursing home and elder abuse nation wide and all
around the world. One case that occurred in Baltimore, Maryland that involved a man who worked in
a long term care facility and hit one of his residents.(Lee, 2013) This resident was an 84 year old man.

The Ethical Concepts Of The Antihero
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Our meaning of heroes and villains are continually evolving. In their anecdotal universes, there are
superheroes that are looked upon with profound respect and thought to be essential pioneers of
society, and there are superheroes that are looked upon with wariness or even scorn. Heroes and
villains often reflect one another in their forces and capacities; with the significant contrast that the
hero is utilizing his/her energy to help other people and the scoundrel is utilizing it for narrow minded
purposes. I will take a gander at a character that is a perplexing cross breed between these two
generalizations, to be specific the Antihero.
Presently the inquiry emerges, what is an Antihero? An anti hero is a defective saint, and along these
lines, substantially more fascinating than the traditional stereotypical heroes. They can be taking a shot
along the edge of good, however with a deplorable imperfection, or a repulsive past. They can
likewise be working for the side of evil, however with concealed honourable aims, or other basic
complexities.
What is moral? Since characteristic and exact science rose and smashed our old otherworldly method
for comprehension the world, our ethical qualities are no more chose for us by a flat out God, however

Benefits Of Multi Method And Longitudinal Methods
5.4 Limitations
There are some potential limitations of this study. Firstly, given the qualitative approach was used in
the research, the data was based on the interviewees and observer s subjective social construction. It
helps to understand interviewees experience in specific situation, however, it needs caution when
interpreting the findings and generalizing findings. Observations were employed at the beginning of
data collection. Because of limited time and quantity, it is treated as supplementation of interviews and
provides limited information. Semi structure interviews as major data collection method rely heavily
on the interviewees memory and stories happened at some point before. It would benefit future study
if multi method and longitudinal methods are used.
Secondly, the investigation was based on data from small sample. Eight participants are from the same
university and all of them are postgraduate students. Therefore, the size and the variety of sample may
limit the possibility of generalization.
Thirdly, the traits and behaviours the findings mentioned do not constitute exhausted list.
Demographics and other external elements were less or not discussed. However, it is difficult to avoid
this limitation. An additional quantitative method could be used in future for providing supplementary
insights of larger variables of elements.
Last but not least, as a novice, research may loss some useful information due to unsophisticated
interview skills and research

The health industry has become the most attractive targets for cyber criminals, because of the large
volumes of protected health, personals, and financial data that are retained. Therefore, it is no surprise
that they have become such a popular target among cyber criminal organizations. Cybercriminals
utilizes various methods to obtain the information they are seeking from both medical insurance and

These methods include:
Insider threats stealing patient records and other sensitive information while working for a company
that maintains these types of records.
Using old criminal tactics such as bribing or threatening physical harm to employee with access to

Hackers breaking into record data bases, utilizing malware to steal email, dumpster diving, and

Social engineering techniques, such as posing as a legitimate employee, or business to request certain

Analysis Of John Was An American Comic Book Artist
John was an American comic book artist known for his work with EC Comic on Two Fisted Tales and
Frontline Combat, Marvel Comics on war and western comics, and a 45 year stint with the magazine
Cracked. He was also one of the founding artists of Mad in 1952. Severin was insucted into the Will
Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2003 before passing away in 2012.
Severin s strongest aspects of this piece are framing, line work, and detail. The framing is successful
with the archway in the foreground of the environment. This black arch frames the whole piece.
Within the arch, the skeletons create a secondary framing device, calling attention to the men on the

The black placement is almost nonexistent except for inside the building in the background. This pulls
the viewer to this spot, which is rather unimportant in the image, while the focus should be on the
woman.
This piece successfully utilizes hatching, black placement, and has reproduced a character who is
identifiable. The hatching in the cloak of the character shows directionality without becoming too
complicated can being distracting. The black placement in the cloak weights the character provides
ground for him and the mailbox to sit on. The reproduction of a character is sometimes difficult to
achieve without matching a certain style. Severin successfully achieves drawing Bilbo Baggins and
having him recognizable, despite the name on the mail box to push recognition. The weakest aspect of
the piece is acting. Bilbo is stiff, and white he is in the act of taking the mail out of the mailbox, he
breaks the fourth wall by looking at the viewer. It would be more successful acting if he was looking
at the action he was performing.
The strongest aspect of this piece is line direction. In the water they encircle the action, and in the
rocks they lead the viewer down into the water. They also aid in the creation of texture, rhythm,
pattern, and framing. The texture created by the lines in the water reflect ripples that would actually
occur in the real world.

The Great Characters Of Sherlock Holmes And Psych s ...
We all use observation to a certain extent in our day to day lives. As human beings, one of the many
stimuli that we use is sight, therefore one of the ways we learn about our surroundings is through
observation. Many great characters from fictious literature and pop culture, such as Arthur Doyle s
Sherlock Holmes and Psych s Shawn Spencer . While this level of observation may be unrealistic, the
uses and benefits that come from it are still incredible. So, is one just simply born with these elevated
levels of focus and mental capacity? Many don t understand that much like playing the piano or
painting a picture, observation is an art and skill in its own right. A skill that can be taught, acquired,
and applied. Personally, a few years ago I barely scraped the surface of the power of observation. It
was the spring of my senior year of high school, and my younger brother wanted to get together and
draw pictures. I agreed, thinking it would be fun, I had hardly picked up a pencil for art in a long time.
As we got out the notebooks and a plethora of artsy utensils, we got started. But there was a problem, I
continued to look at the blank page in front of me. I realized, I did not know how to draw! It was not
that the drawings were inadequate, but that I couldn t put my pencil to paper. If I wanted to draw a

Analysis Of This Is A White Man s Government ``
The Civil War, in term of the modern mind, was a war that divided the nation, yet was able to free the
slaves. The idea that such a bloody war was able to liberate a group of oppressed was enough to
justify the deaths of many Americans; yet when analyzing the lives of these so called freed people it
becomes apparent that they were not freed. The ideology of the Lost Cause allowed for the creation of
resentment towards blacks. From this hate an unholy trinity of white men with different backgrounds
came united and threated to destroy the idea of a democratic America. Thomas Nast s satirical
drawing, titled This is a White Man s Government displays the possible destruction of America by this
unholy trinity in an effort to maintain the pre Civil War hierarchy. The focal point of the published
image is the three piled hands of the men, representing the unity that they formed in order to maintain
control over a democratic America. When the viewer looks at the sketch, their eyes focus directly onto
the pile of hands in the center. This gesture assures the audience of a commitment and pact established
by these men. Nast is able to address the unspoken agreement between these men with the placement
of their feet. Their feet give a name to their agreement as they hold hands as they stomp on a black
war veteran. The placement of legs in the drawing, This is a White Man s Government , continues to
imply that the forces of the trinity are meant to continue the oppression of

The Importance of Mothers in All Over but the Shoutin’ by...
In the novel All Over but the Shoutin Rick Bragg shows the love and devotion of what every mother
should have through his mother. The only woman that Bragg truly cares for and takes time out of his
day is for his mother Margaret Marie. Bragg tries to do the best for his mother and tries his best to
make her proud of him. Bragg learned early in life that his mother strived to give her children
everything possible. For Mrs. Bragg her children are the reason she wakes up everyday and tries to
make a better life for them. No matter what actions or words a mother chooses, to a child his or her
mother is on the highest pedestal. A mother is very important to a child because of the nourishing and
love the child receives from his or her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bragg s grandfather learned to find out the young man ways he lived long enough to see the true
nature of his son in law s character emerge, saw the cruelty, and his first inclination was to hunt him
down and kill him (35). Bragg s mother felt that her husband would change for the better the more
chances she gave him. Every time Bragg s father would come back for his wife he would leave her in
the end without any money and to expect another child on the way (66). Bragg s mother and the
children knew that the father could become dangerous at any time he would strike out at whoever was
near, but again it always seemed that she was between him and us, absorbing his cruelty, accepting it
(66). Bragg knew that his mother was not trying to bring the family in harm, only his mother wanted
the family life and for her boys to grow up with a father.
Bragg s mother was determined for her children to have a better life than she had. Margaret s love and
hard work for her children was clearly shown through the novel. Since Bragg s father was not around
his mother had to play both roles No by the time I was six years old, I had already witnessed what a
man should be. How a man should act. I saw it in my own momma, who put on a man s britches and
worked in the field all day... (49). Bragg s mother would also try to teach her children how to play
sports, and build kites (47). Margaret s love for her children is extraordinary; she strives to make her
children as happy as possible.

Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, And Song Of Song
The purpose of this paper is to summarize the main themes of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and
Song of Song. The main themes are, Job: (1) Retribution Principle. (2) Wisdom, Justice, and
Sovereignty of God. (3) Mediator. Psalms: (1) Retribution Principle. (2) Kingship. (3) Nature and
Creation. Proverbs: (1) The Fear of the Lord. (2) the Retribution Principle: Part 3. (3) Human Speech.
(4) Human Sexuality. Ecclesiastes: (1) The Retribution Principle: Part 4. (2) Experience vs.
Revelation. (3) Epicureanism vs. Piety. Song of Songs: (1) Positive Dimensions of Human Love. The
Retribution Principle is the foundation for the book of Job. This includes the sowing and reaping
philosophy of if someone is bad, bad things happen, and if someone is good, good things happen.
However the argument by satan in this text was that this principle was always true, this was not the
case with Job however, as even though he remained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once again it falls to the reader to believe that even with the principle, we cannot begin to contemplate
the methods or timing of Yahweh. Proverbs has much to say on the abuse of the tongue, in fact, three
of the seven sins that God hates are based on the tongue. We must learn that words contain power,
even over life and death, to raise or crush another s spirit, to shape attitudes and perceptions and form
belief and convictions. This is why I personally like the nowadays statement that says to spread the
gospel through actions and use words if necessary. Bottom line, words can bring life and death, a
blessing and a curse. What words will you

The New England Region, And The Colonial Region
Each of the three different regions had differences that highlighted the legacy of that certain region.
The New England Region was known for its fish and harbors because of its geography in America.
The Mid Atlantic region was known for its perfect climate for growing crops and it balanced
indentured servants and slaves. The Southern Region legacy was that is produced three high in
demand products and it imported slaves in an exponential increase. The major British colonial regions
possessed specific commodities which ran their economy but each region had different tolerances
towards religion and slaves.
In the mid 1700s, the New England region of the British incorporated the Massachusetts, Connecticut,
Rhode Island, and New Hampshire colonies. The New England region s climate and richness of the
soil were not ideal for farming vegetables and fruit, unlike the Mid Atlantic. The importance for cities
in colonies to be situated on the coast was immense, this allowed for easier exports and imports. With
lots of ports and harbors, the New England regions were fitting for fishing and vessels. By 1765, this
region was exporting 35 million pounds of fish to Britain and its colonies. (DiBacco, Thomas V, et al.
McDougal Littell). Also, the New Englanders began to produce large cargo vessels, the production of
the vessels helped with the Navigation Act of 1660. Boston became the largest and richest American
town. The region of New England society was based on its coastal reputation,

Leader In Animal Farm By George Orwell
What is a Leader?
Leader: Noun
1. The person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.
English Oxford Living Dictionaries
In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, Old Major, an old pig, is depicted as a good leader. A
good leader puts others before themselves, is humble, willing to serve, and inspires people to do their
best. Old Major is the character that exemplifies these traits. In the book, Old Major is gathering up
support for a rebellion against Mr. Jones, the head farmer, in the hopes of an easier and more
prosperous future. And now, comrades, I will tell you about my dream of last night. I cannot describe
that dream to you. It was a dream of the earth as it will be when Man has vanished. But it reminded
me of something that I had long forgotten (Orwell 6).
Since the beginning of civilization, there have always been leaders. There have been great leaders and
bad leaders. Our first president, George Washington, is considered a great leader. George Washington
led his men through the Revolutionary War. Washington demonstrated the servant characteristic of a
strong and humble leader in the following story. One rainy day during the American Revolutionary
War, George Washington rode up to a group of soldiers attempting ... Show more content on

Militarism Against The Vietnam War
Songs often reflect or critique the ideologies of their time period. However, the songs are not bound to
the specific time period in which they are created because the ideologies they reflect or critique are
also not bound to a specific context. These residual ideologies are created in the past, but still acting as
an effective element of the present (Williams). The song Masters of War is a song that falls into this
category; in 1963, the song Masters of War was written by Bob Dylan as a response to the antiwar
movement against the Vietnam War, and in 2004, Pearl Jam applied the antiwar sentiment of the song
to the context of the war on terrorism. In both time periods, the dominant ideology of militarism that

The terror attacks on September 11, 2001, introduced a new form of enemy and in response, the
government invoked the residual ideology of militarism to combat this enemy instead of turning to an
emergent ideology, or a new, creative way of facing this new enemy. The Bush administration
declared the war on terrorism and in solidarity with those affected by the terror attacks, the public
supported the government s actions (Foner). However, the enemy of this war was loosely defined as
those who hate freedom and the board definition included all terrorist groups around the world that
poses a threat to the Western world and the freedom it represents (Foner). The first act of war under
the war on terrorism was when the Taliban, the terrorist group responsible for the tragedy on
September 11, refused to give up its leader Osama bin Laden and the United States responded with air
strikes (Foner). To the public, this military action against Afghanistan and the Taliban seemed justified
because the Taliban was the group responsible for the terror attacks. However, with the enemy so
ambiguously defined and without a clear agenda, the government was able to take free rein of the
direction of the war and possible self interest came into play. The government identified the axis of
evil as Iraq, Iran, and North Korea, and claimed that these three countries harbored weapons of mass
destruction, or nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, and planned to use these weapons on the
United States; this claim was not supported by evidence (Foner). As the United States went to war
with Iraq under this unjustified accusation, dissent rose around the world and many suspected that the
true intention was to fight for control over the world s second largest oil reserves in Iraq (Foner).
These antiwar protests around the world set the context for Pearl Jam s 2004 cover of Masters of War

All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque Essay
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque
All Quiet on the Western Front was written in a first person style. The story was told by Paul Baümer,
a nineteen year old student, convinced to enlist with the German army by his schoolmaster, Kantorek.
Along with many of his friends from school, he is trained under Corporal Himmelstoss, a strictly
disciplined commander who dislikes Paul because of his defiance.
When sent to the front, Paul, along with his other friends, made new friendships that would last
throughout time. His newly made friend/commander, was a man named Stanislaus Katczinsky. As a
man of forty years of age he was a wise old man as well as a friend to the young eighteen and nineteen
year old recruits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One day the French came and began shelling the village. While evacuating Paul and his friend Albert
Kropp were injured by gunshot wounds. They were bandaged up and sent on a train back home.
This ride home took a turn. When Kropp got a fever he was scheduled to be dropped off at the next
stop. In order for Paul to stay with his friend, he had to convince the nurse that he also was sick from
infection. After being dropped off they were taken to a Catholic hospital to be treated. After a few
weeks Kropp s leg is overcome with infection and is amputated at the thigh. After a few more weeks
Paul and Kropp parted, Paul going back to the war and Kropp going home.
Returning to the front was hard for Paul. The days were getting cold and one by one he watched his
friends die. The hardest loss was that of Kat. After Kat had been shot, Paul had to carry Kat to the
nearest dressing station a few miles away. Stopping every few minutes to rest, Paul frequently checked
to make sure that Kat, even with his injury, was ok. When at last Paul reached the dressing station the
nurse told him that Kat was dead. When Paul checked again a small shell fragment had just penetrated
that back of Kat s head. He was still even warm. Kat was the last of Paul s friends to die in the war.
Then, in October of 1918, Paul finally fell. The book describes his death as, ...his face had an
expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come. The war ended the next

The Effects Of Physical Therapy On Health Care Delivery...
A prevention program can be described as an arrangement of activities that attempt to alter a situation
from happening, reduce problems, or promote a certain outcome. Prevention programs are available
throughout the world covering many different aspects present in today s issues. Physical therapy
services have a direct connection to prevention programs in that a therapist makes an effort to treat a
condition in order for it to be avoided, reduced, or changed if at all possible whether it is an injury or
infection. As stated by the Alabama Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Physical therapists can
provide valuable contributions to the transformation of the health care delivery system by improving
health care quality and outcomes through the prevention, treatment, and management of impairments
and health care needs of patients, (Health Care 2). Preventative actions initiate restoration and
achievement of a patient s functional ability, and decreases dependency and impairments due to an
illness or disease. Preventing an illness from progressing at a rapid rate, and educating the patient to
better adapt to surroundings are also services provided. Physical therapy prevention services can be
categorized by being primary, secondary, or tertiary.
Primary prevention can be classified as a physical therapist recognizing potential risk factors in a
given population or age group, and providing therapeutic services to decrease the specific risk from
occurring. Simply put, it stops

The Life and Poetry of Bret Harte
Authors, a lot of them surround us today, they are the person who enhances our imagination, or gives
existence to anything that is plain and different. In American history, there were a number of poets and
authors who rose to popularity. They changed people s outlook on everything, and added a great
amount of different things in American literature. Throughout this time, there were a couple of great
poets and authors who helped create the local color school in American fiction. One poet who helped
in this movement was Bret Harte.
Bret Harte, an American author and poet, was born on August 25, 1836 in Albany, New York. His
father, Henry Harte, and mother, Elizabeth Ostrander, both worked as teachers. His full name was

With no recourse, he went to San Francisco where he found a job as a typesetter. It was also here
where he shared short stories and poems for the journal, the Golden Era. While working here, he
started signing his works as Bret or The Bohemian. His life at this stage was somewhat a repeat of
what his childhood was, living measly, since he was only receiving a small amount of income. Harte
was very much against racism, and these feelings gave him reason to write poems entitled as Plain
Language from Truthful James . Even though he considered this to be the worst poems I ever wrote , it
got a different response from the people around the world: they loved it! The poems had a negative
outcome because it started a racial turmoil in California against the Chinese. However, in time, he
learned how to please the readers by giving them what they wanted to read and not what they needed
to read. Before, racism was a huge issue, nobody liked other races because then do not have the same
color of skin. People always wanted to have a higher authority over the others, the whites were
considered the powerful authority at that time. In 1860, he started writing stories with the theme of
Escape and Illusions. He was considered a very talented humorist because he can turn a completely
boring thing in to something everyone would enjoy. With his talent in writing, he won national
acclaim and from then on,

member contributing knowledge, experience and skills in one or more domains.

Companies are becoming more involved with corporate governance and they are following more strict

  • 2. Advantages Of Pesticides In Agriculture M. Salman Anwar Research Proposal Title: BIODEGRADATION OF PESTICIDES IN SOIL ENVIRONMENT Introduction: Wise use and preservation of the soil recourses of a country can transform a poor society into a prosperous one (Miller and Donahue 1992) Agriculture is a key sector in the world economy where the competition between the countries is of great importance in terms of the production. It also contributes about 25% of GDP of Pakistan and provides livelihood directly to 70% of its rural population. In these conditions, pesticides are commonly used to reach a definite quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Their generalised use is attributed to (i) increase the quantitative and qualitative yields (ii) limit the irregularities of crop production linked to the great parasitic catastrophe (iii) protect the food reserves and many more. It has been estimated that about 3000 5000 tones of pesticides are used predominately only in Cotton growing areas of Pakistan (ESCAP Virtual Conference June 16, 2007). According to a report of IFEN, pesticides are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Previous studies concerning the pesticide degradation highlighted the microbial degradation as a primary mechanism of pesticide dissipation from the soils (Cox et al., 1996; Pieuchot et al., 1996). Along with this degradation of pesticide, these micro organisms also perform many other beneficial functions like decomposition of organic matter, release of certain enzymes and plant growth regulators, with having no destructive impact on soil fertility and structure that some more vigorous conventional technologies may have, such as acid extraction and soil washing. So Biodegradation should be used to reduce increased soil and underground water pollution caused by excessive use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John Drygen And John Dryden And Shakespeare s Roles In Poetry INTRODUCTION The metaphysical poets have immense power and capability to wonder the reader and cajole inventive perspective through paradoxical images, subtle argument, innovative syntax and imagery from art, philosophy and religion implying an extended metaphor known as conceit. The term metaphysical broadly applied to English and European poets of the seventeenth century was used by Augustan poets John Dryden and Samuel Johnson to reprove those poets for their unnaturalness . John Dryden was the first to use the term metaphysical in association with John Donne as he affects the metaphysics. Goethe, likewise, wrote, the unnatural, that too is natural and metaphysical poets are studied for their intricacy and originality. It will not be irrelevant and absurd to say, Metaphysics in poetry is the fruit of the Renaissance tree, becoming over ripe and approaching putrescence (C. S. Lewis). Scholars described the characteristics of metaphysical poetry from different point of view. They, in fact, lay out the essence of metaphysical poem, as does R.S. Hillyer to call Loosely, it has taken such meanings as these metaphysical poetry as difficult, philosophical, obscure, ethereal, involved, supercilious, ingenious, fantastic and incongruous. • 5. High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act... High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care. The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care. After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the Patewood Memorial Hospital. Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York counties. The Charleston Birth Place and Greenville Birth Center are the only CABC accredited birthing centers in the state. Though there was never a golden age for vampire movies, as it is a subgenre for film, it did greatly participate in the golden age of horror films, giving greatly to the popularity of horror films. This popularity still demands a very active hold on film goers today. Bela Lugosi is the poster child for the character of Dracula. He set the tone for what a good vampire in the 1931 film Dracula. After Lugosi, Christopher Lee is the next person credited with the popularity of vampire movies. Lee has starred in 10 separate movies as Count Dracula, the quality of the movies and Lee s prior acting credits gave way to the resurgence of Dracula in the mid 1900 s. All of these credits however mean nothing in the world of film without the movies that kicked everything off, Nosferatu, the 1922 film keeps true to the book Dracula. Heroes and villains often reflect one another in their forces and capacities; with the significant contrast that the hero is utilizing his/her energy to help other people and the scoundrel is utilizing it for narrow minded purposes. Observations were employed at the beginning of data collection. Because of limited time and quantity, it is treated as supplementation of interviews and provides limited information. Semi structure interviews as major data collection method rely heavily on the interviewees memory and stories happened at some point before. It would benefit future study if multi method and longitudinal methods are used. Secondly, the investigation was based on data from small sample. Eight participants are from the same university and all of them are postgraduate students. Therefore, the size and the variety of sample may limit the possibility of generalization. Thirdly, the traits and behaviours the findings mentioned do not constitute exhausted list. Demographics and other external elements were less or not discussed. However, it is difficult to avoid this limitation. An additional quantitative method could be used in future for providing supplementary insights of larger variables of elements. It was not that the drawings were inadequate, but that I couldn t put my pencil to paper. If I wanted to draw a realistic tree, there would have been no way to make it happen. The idea that such a bloody war was able to liberate a group of oppressed was enough to justify the deaths of many Americans; yet when analyzing the lives of these so called freed people it becomes apparent that they were not freed. The ideology of the Lost Cause allowed for the creation of resentment towards blacks. From this hate an unholy trinity of white men with different backgrounds came united and threated to destroy the idea of a democratic America. Thomas Nast s satirical drawing, titled This is a White Man s Government displays the possible destruction of America by this unholy trinity in an effort to maintain the pre Civil War hierarchy. The focal point of the published image is the three piled hands of the men, representing the unity that they formed in order to maintain control over a democratic America. When the viewer looks at the sketch, their eyes focus directly onto the pile of hands in the center. This gesture assures the audience of a commitment and pact established by these men. Nast is able to address the unspoken agreement between these men with the placement of their feet. Their feet give a name to their agreement as they hold hands as they stomp on a black war veteran. The terror attacks on September 11, 2001, introduced a new form of enemy and in response, the government invoked the residual ideology of militarism to combat this enemy instead of turning to an emergent ideology, or a new, creative way of facing this new enemy. The Bush administration declared the war on terrorism and in solidarity with those affected by the terror attacks, the public supported the government s actions (Foner). However, the enemy of this war was loosely defined as those who hate freedom and the board definition included all terrorist groups around the world that poses a threat to the Western world and the freedom it represents (Foner). The first act of war under the war on terrorism was when the Taliban, the terrorist group responsible for the tragedy on September 11, refused to give up its leader Osama bin Laden and the United States responded with air strikes (Foner). To the public, this military action against Afghanistan and the Taliban seemed justified because the Taliban was the group responsible for the terror attacks.
