Health Care Trends and Perceptions Regarding the Insurance...
Health Care
Determine what correlations can be made regarding the increase in population and the public
perception of the health insurance system. Be sure to present your thoughts in a credible manner that
is non offensive yet factual.
The population has been steadily increasing in the United States since its founding. For a long period
the US led the industrialized world in its fertility rate however, though this rate has slowed in recent
generations with Americans having few babies per household, immigration into the US has become
one of the main drivers of the expanding population (Wang, 2013). Furthermore, the population is also
steadily aging and therefore often requires more in terms of health care services. All of these factors
contribute to a trend in which health care accessibility is becoming more and more limited in all types
of coverage s. For example, those who have private health insurance may be faced with higher out of
pocket costs and limited services to attempt to control costs while those without private insurance
could be potentially excluded from service all together. One study found that in 2007 nearly two thirds
of all bankruptcies were related to medical expenses; a trend that has been rapidly increasing since the
turn of the century (McCarthy, 2009). It is reasonable to believe that such trends correlate to a
negative perception of the health insurance system.
Consider the health trends in the U.S. over the last two decades and make some

Response to Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated experience in project, financial and contract management.
Project management is one of my key expertise areas with more than 10 years of experiences. It all
started while I commenced my career as a Journalist. I worked as a key contact person for
communicating UNICEF s Birth Registration Agenda project in 2007 conducted in Bangladesh. I also
worked as a climate change media consultant for the PANOS, London in 2011 2012, where I was

Not only the personality test certifies me, but also the social media specifically, Facebook does show
my communication and engagement skills. I have more than 8 thousand followers on Facebook.
Hence, I will be the right candidate to provide marketing, events and communications support for the
division. My recent internship with the ANU Science Communication and Marketing has been a great
training in creating materials to document and publicizing it through different media channels. I gave
input for the office during the ANU Stargazing event. I have also developed a communication and
outreach strategy for the office to boost its campaign during the National Science Week 2017 in the
ACT.
I have learnt 11 different languages (in a different level from basic to fluent) and these were a great
source to develop understanding of communication from a cultural context. The way I will
communicate an American, it needs to be a slightly different with a Briton. This is how
communication and engagement becomes culturally compatible. And, I am master of it.
As a full time journalistic working experience, I believe I also have a strong negotiation and liaison
skill. Moreover, I have completed 3 courses offered by the Science Communication department at the
ANU, which gave me further insights on negotiation and liaison skills with government, non

Chemical Warfare Persuasive Reasearch Essay
The purpose of this essay is to deal with the fact that chemical warfare should be brought back to
modern warfare strategies. As Warren Rudman said, And they will tell you unequivocally that if we
have a chemical or biological attack or a nuclear attack anywhere in this country, they are unprepared
to deal with it today, and that is of high urgency. Rudman s words are true in what they say and that
we should do everything to counter act his statement. Biological weapons are a key to outstanding
success in war and therefore, I strongly suggest that chemical warfare is an effective and producible
weapon tactic that can be used on today s battlefield. Though biological weapons have been available
for under a century, there is a long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a risk. (Spartacus)
The fact that we cannot use chemical weapons is a very bad thing. We could have used these weapons
in the Vietnam War. With all the tall grass and dense forests, our soldiers were not prepared for the
close up combat. If we had used the chemical agents in that forest, we could have eliminated hidden
enemy forces and we would have saved many American soldiers lives.
With the growing problem of the war in the Middle East, we could use chemical weapons in order to
siphon out enemy forces hidden in houses. Enemies will hide in houses and then emerge when we are
near by surprise and they kill many soldiers by doing so. Our families are greatly affected by the loss
of a son, father, or brother. With soldiers dying every day, the problem could be fixed by using
chemical weapons because they flow into hard to attack areas. It is the only way to eliminate an
enemy without radioactive nuclear force. Chemical weapons would lessen the deaths of our soldiers.
There are many repercussions to not having a biological weapon. If we cannot reinstate chemical
warfare, we will continue to lose many soldiers lives. Having chemical weapons is like when we came
out with the UCAV. The UCAV stands for unmanned combat aerial vehicle. The UCAV got rid of the
loss of lives in the air. It made bombing targets easier. With chemical weapons, we could eliminate
thousands of war related deaths. If

Role Of Federalism In Mexico
Prior to gaining independence, Mexico was a thriving colony that was beginning to find its footing in
international trade, but inner conflicts within the government structure which had been increasing
dramatically, caused a great divide among citizens. Fueled by the disagreement between staying under
the tight restrictions of Spain s bourbon reforms or creating their own nation to which Mexico would
govern itself, a tug of war ignited as each side argued for their respective policies to be put in place.
Mexico gaining their independence in 1821 was the main cause which created the standoff between
centralism (eventually conservatism) and federalism (soon evolved to liberalism) as the two main
contenders for government policies. For three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

both factions had to comply with the poor as they feared revolt it they continued to ignore their

Beowulf Versus Batman
Beowulf vs Batman Beowulf was the first superhuman ever to be written about; he s basically the
great grand father of all modern day fictional heroes. But does that mean that all heroes are modeled
exactly like Beowulf? Well, let s take a look at Batman whose known by every kid and adult out there.
He like Beowulf had years of rigorous training in order to become too strong muscular hero that we
see; and that is where they split apart Beowulf s and Batman s back stories are as different as their
personalities. In the end though everyone comes to the point where they realize that they aren t as
young as they used to be and with their line of work it can come quick and fast. So as they re final act
they name a successor to protect the people in their charge. These heroes both protect people but they
do it it for different reasons entirely.

Dunstable s Life In Fifth Business By Robertson Davies
Do you ever wonder why your life has taken the course it has? Was the path you chose sparked by a
particular moment from your youth? Or was it different incidents that have occurred throughout your
life? These are a few of the questions I am left with after reading the novel Fifth Business written by
Canadian author Robertson Davies. Originally published by Macmillan Canada in 1970, this book is
approximately 273 pages in length and takes about a week to complete. The novel focuses on the story
of the life of Dunstable Ramsay, a small town boy from Deptford, Ontario who evolves from a child
into an intellectual man looking for a meaning to his life. Dunstable speculates on the past experiences
of his life through a letter after retiring as a history teacher and is why this novel falls under the ...

threw a snowball at him which accidentally hits Mrs. Dempster in the head and causes her to fall. To
make matters worse, Mrs. Dempster is pregnant at the time and this incident causes her to enter labour
early in which she eventually gives birth to a premature son. Even from the beginning of the novel,
Dunstable is concerned about how this one seemingly minor event can have drastic impacts on not
only the direction of his life, but also the effect everyone involved. As the novel progresses further,
you begin to realize that Dunstable is essentially a spectator who explains accounts of other
characters, eventually leading to his own discovery of his place in the hierarchy of life. From his
innocent experiences as a child, to his enlistment in the Canadian military to fight in WW1, to his
various ventures to Europe and South America to gain knowledge about saints and magicians,
Dunstable is constantly an observer of others lives as well as his

Tanning Beds Research Papers
Tanning beds are devices that give off ultraviolet radiation to make a cosmetic tan. They were first
invented in 1978 by Friedrich Wolff. They are typically horizontal making it easier for people lay
down in them. People are usually in there for about 8 to 15 minutes. They can be Shor 2 found at
tanning salons and some people even have their own personal ones in their homes. They contain about
24 to 60 lamps. There are two types of ultraviolet radiation that affect skin. They are called UVA and
UVB. Tanning beds use more UVA light which penetrates deeper layers of the epidermis. People
absorb more UV rays by using tanning beds rather than just tanning outside or at the beach. Some

Examples Of Love In Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle...
Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world, and one of the most difficult to describe. It is
one of those emotions that words do not seem to justify a person may feel it, but may not be able to
explain it. However, that does not mean that people do not know that love is out there. Many people
believe that everyone has one true love somewhere in the world, and spend their lives searching for
that person. Love is not difficult to find though. It exists in many forms, including love between
family members, friends, different races, and even the love for oneself, both in the novel Fried Green
Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Frannie Flagg and in one s own life. br br The first and most
basic form of love is found in the family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

love that exists between friends. There are many examples of the love that goes along with friendship

Ruth out of that situation, and takes her back to Whistle Stop. The pair begins the Whistle Stop Cafe,
and spends the rest of their lives together until Ruth passes away. Also, there is the friendship that
exists between Evelyn Couch and Ninny (Virginia) Threadgoode, a middle aged woman going through
menopause and an elderly woman in a nursing home, respectively. They become friends out of

Divorce And Spousal Maintenance Essay
Divorce and spousal maintenance and parenting time and legal decision making and...so much more.
When the marriage ends, an entirely new set of rites, rituals, routines and definitions are suddenly left
on your doorstep. You can try to step over them and ignore them for as long as you can, but the easiest
way to deal with the mess is to figure it out so you can manage it gracefully.
We ve all heard of divorce and have a general idea what it means and entails. In Arizona, couples file
for a no fault divorce. In some ways, this makes obtaining a divorce easier. There is no required
separation period, etc. But there is still a process. For instance, if there are children involved, you ll
both be required to take a parenting class. Don t fight this. It s one of the new and exciting experiences
divorce brings with it that you can t avoid so you might as well embrace it. You ll also need to learn to
accept that your finances are an open book not only to your soon to be ex, but your attorney, their
attorney, the Judge and any other court employees involved in the process. If you didn t learn about
give and take during your marriage, you ll definitely be forced to learn about it during your divorce.

Anselm s Existence of God Refuted Essay
Anselm s Existence of God Refuted
Anselm s Existence of God Refuted
If the only proofs for the existence of God were Aquinas s five ways and Anselm s ontological
argument, in my opinion, Anselm provides the best reasoning. I am not saying that Anselm s argument
is good, or even valid, but just that given the set of proofs by Aquinas and Anselm, Anselm s is better.
Anselm argues, in effect, that the existence of God is built into the very concept of God. He proceeds
by a form of argument called reductio ad absurdum reduction to absurdity. He attempts to show that
the position of the fool the non believer who has said in his heart, There is no God is incoherent and
leads to absurdity. (Cottingham, 1996: 246)
How does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, just because something exists in the understanding, we would not normally conclude that it
also exists in reality. As Anselm himself points out, a painter may have the completed work of art in
his mind, but that does not make it a real painting. (Cottingham, 1996: 246)
What Anselm tries to show next is that in this case, having an idea in the understanding requires one to
admit that the thing exists in reality as well. For suppose that God exists only in the understanding.
Then we can conceive of a greater being: one who exists in reality as well. Moreover, that would mean
that this God who exists only in the understanding is not the greatest conceivable being. (Cottingham,
1996: 246)
Now we have a contradiction.
Now come to the case of God. The GCB would have to be wise, because a wise being is greater than a
being that is not wise. In addition, the GCB would have to be just, because justice is better than
injustice. What Anselm is claiming is that the GCB must also exist, because a being that exists in
reality is greater than one that exists merely in the understanding. So:
It would be a contradiction to say; God (the GCB) is not wise
It would be a contradiction to say, God is not just.
In addition, it would be a contradiction to say, God does not exist.
There are many arguments as to why Anselm s argument is invalid. I have chosen three of them, and
have illustrated how these arguments make Anselm s

When Memories And Events Become Institutionalized In A
When memories and events become institutionalized in a museum setting, they become the lens
through which present and future generations gaze into past. National museums promote local history
and identity, but what about multinational museums and multinational identity? This is the question
the European Union hopes to address with their sanctioning of the House of European History (HEH).
The main goal of the HEH is to create a collection of permanent and temporary exhibitions to invite
people into a space where the concept of the European idea can continue to grow and the knowledge
and dissemination of the culture and history of the European peoples can be improved (Committee of
Experts, 2008, p.5). However, because the HEH is funded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conceptual basis is divided into four parts with 116 points in total: forward, conceptual and
museological basis, central topics of the permanent exhibition, and outlook. In the very first point, it is
outlined that the museum should be a place where a memory of European history and the work of
European unification is jointly cultivated (Committee of Experts, 2008, p.3). Some of the main themes
that the museum is supposed to represent include the diversity of history and a commonality of roots,
peace, liberty, and a willingness to live together, as well as the idea of progress and keeping the idea of
Europe alive. In the second section, it talks about the academic goals of the museum and the way it
should be set up in order to be accessible to a variety of people, such as free admission and
explanatory texts in multiple languages (twenty four to be precise) (Committee of Experts, 2008). The
HEH is meant to be an independent institution that provides education to the young people of Europe
in order for them to become active citizens in shaping the EU s future. Points 27 112 explain the
central topics of the exhibitions that will be in the museum, but do not go into detail regarding the
artifacts and objects they will represent these topics with. After this initial Conceptual Basis, another
draft was written in 2013 with a small amount of changes. Although the museum was first set to open
in 2015, it was then pushed to 2016. The current expected

Organ Donation For An Organ Transplant
According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services 18 people die each day
waiting for an organ transplant. They also state that one organ donor can save up to eight lives. Those
are significant numbers that should make us very much aware of the monumental impact organ
donation can have on the lives of so many critically ill patients and their families. Although the
tragedy of an accident or horrifying event is sometimes unbearable for the patient and the patient s
family, it may result in what some may call a new hope for those who are awaiting organ
transplantation. Emergency department doctors and nurses play an integral part between life and
death, between trying to save the patient and preserving the option of organ donation in the patient
who cannot be saved.
There are two sources for donor organs. The first source removes organs from recently deceased
people. These organs are called cadaveric organs. A person becomes a cadaveric organ donor by
indicating that they would like to be an organ donor when they die. This decision is usually noted
either on a driver s license or on a health care directive. (Ethics of Organ Transplantation, 2004) The
second source for donor organs is a living person. Living donors are often related to the patient, but
that is not always the case and certainly does not have to be the case. The one factor that must occur
for cadaveric organ donation to be possible is brain death. Brain death is defined as

local offices is to turn them into profit centers. The WCS will manage the direct account contacts and

The concept of sustainable development has become a major topic among intellectuals from various

The health of the earth degrades with the destructive activity of human beings. A recent study by a
group of scientists looked at twenty four different services that the earth s ecosystems provide for
humans, ecosystem services, and found that fifteen of them are in need of desperate help (Gazette 31
March 2005). These services are vital to the survival of both human and nonhuman life and include
filtering water and providing nutrient rich soils and ocean waters. Many of the members of these
various ecosystems are also decreasing in numbers. In a British survey of bird populations found that
in the 200 birds of Britain tracked there was about a 54% population decrease between the 1968 1971
tacking period and the 1988 1991 tacking period. In two other surveys of 254 native plant species
from the same area there was a decrease of about 28% during the past 40 years. Humans are pushing
the sixth mass extinction (Gazette March 19, 2004).
Many people believe that the Sustainable Revolution began with concern for the environment. The
way we portray our relation to the natural world has changed since the times of Thoreau and Emerson.

Ethical And Ethical Theories Of Ethics
Ethical Analogy Opinions lead our society. Everyone is entitled to their reasoning and how strongly
they feel that their approach to life is the right way. Moral beliefs are the stone foundation behind the
way people think and their ethics. Look at morals as code of conduct. Each society has its own moral
beliefs but come to an understanding that everyone s entitled is clear. It s a rule that s not writing as a
law but more so the common way. The act of a person behavior all falls into their ethical belief.
Different people causes for different responds to a situation. Furthermore ethics is a way to solidify
the difference between good, bad or wrong and right. Morally and ethically there is a wrong and right
way to every issues we face however, no one can truly say what is right the proper behavioral
response due to emotions that move us. One approach used to helping with ethics is Utilitarism. It is
described as the means to an end. Created by John Stuart Mill and Jeremy Bentham, this theory tries
to answer moral questions with emotion of one and religion. The outcome is for the greater good of all
or the most people. It s the idea of putting other before you. The moral good is defined as the greatest
happiness for the most amounts and the immoral would be the less good for the least amount. Kantian

Cardozo Case Summary
A recently graduated accountant accepted a company wanting to go public as its first client. That
company was Cardozo and Co, Inc., incorporated in Massachusetts, but headquartered in Miami, FL.
The IPO was successful, and the public company decided to remain with the accountant. After the
IPO, the accountant provided tax advice on matters, such as sheltering money to the Cayman Islands,
and helped to prepare the financial statements for the proxy statement during a merger to another
company that would significantly increase its worth. The auditor s opinion on the financial statements
prepared had been released to the public, and even used by a Prosser Bank to provide a loan to

v. Touche, the court used the primary benefit test, which became known as Ultramares. Ultramares
requires privity, the accountant has a fiduciary duty only to whom they performed work for or an
entity very close to privity. Ultramares requires four aspects for a nonclient; the accountant must be
aware of the name, purpose, extent, and that the client is aware of the nonclient s use. If Ultramares
was used by Prosser Bank and the shareholders, it would fail on several requirements, but primarily
due to the fact that privity is not present, and the parties existence was unknown to the accountant. In
the case of Tricontinental Industries, Ltd. v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Tricontinental relied on the
Anicom, Inc. s financial statements audited by PWC, but PWC did not note in its opinion the
discrepancies it discovered during the audit, and Tricontinental entered into an Asset Purchase
Agreement. Anicom eventually restated its financials and became bankrupt. Tricontinenal blames
PWC for negligence. The judge ruled in favor of PWC. Even though this case has different facts than
the Cardozo and Co, Inc. situation, under Ultramares, the accountant intended his work to be used by
his client. The Restatement (Second) of Torts, specifically with regard to the foreseen users and

The Scandal Of The Enron Scandal
Accounting is a necessary and vital part of maintaining any business, it is needed to file taxes, know
how much one has in assets and liabilities, and indicate to investors whether the company would be a
profitable undertaking. However, sometimes the accounting goes horribly wrong when people, even
those who seem to be moral and uncorrubtable, fudge the numbers. By inflating books, they can get
away with billions of dollars in fraud and make nice bonuses for themselves. However, these acts of
greed affect not only the fraudulent person, but their families, coworkers, and other businesses. There
are several ways massive accounting fraud has taken place in companies, from increasing
depreciation, to not reporting debt, to right out making up numbers to report. These frauds have been
detected in multiple ways as well whistleblowers, internal audits, and even the fraudulent people
themselves. The effect of these scandals have taken a heavy toll on businesses financially and on
people involved emotionally. One scandal that had a lot of family involvement and heartache was the
Bernie Madoff scandal in 2008. Bernie Madoff, along with his accountant David Friehling and Frank
DiPascalli orchestrated the largest Ponzi scheme ever with his investment securities business. Madoff
s company Ascot managed a diverse portfolio of clients, from high profile multi millionaires to
hospitals to non profits. They all suffered losses, and some even lost all that they had because of

Expanding Our Lunch Period Essay
Expanding our Lunch Period
We re talking about our kids futures. Our schools need to be teaching our kids how to be healthy.
Nadine Burke Harris. Nadine Burke is an American pediatrician. She is the founder and CEO of the
Center for Youth Wellness. This facility focuses on children who have had bad childhood experiences.
Mrs. Harris is an educated woman on what children need to have in order to be healthy so we should
take her advice. A thirty minute lunch period is too short, therefore we should make it longer.
Students cannot finish their lunch in the amount of time we are given which causes us to be wasteful.
Since lunch is only thirty minutes, I do not have enough time to finish my lunch. For example, if I
have a sandwich in my lunch, I end up throwing at least half of it into the garbage. Throwing half of
your lunch out is not only wasting the food, but the money you spent. If my dad knew how much of
my lunch I wasted he would not be happy because he is buying my food. Children in Africa don t have
enough food to nourish their bodies, meanwhile we are wasting perfectly good food that could save a
child s life in need of food. Every 5 seconds a child dies due to hunger and 1.3 billion tons of food is
wasted every year around the globe (in text citation). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The New World s Tempest The Tempest is a Shakespearean play that takes play on a desert island
somewhere between Tunis and Naples. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European
nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano,
Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of Claribel,
daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his sorcery to
conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island. Frey interjects, In
1808, Edmond Malone argued that Shakespeare derived the title and some of the play s incidents from
accounts of a storm and shipwreck experienced by Sir Thomas Gates and other Jamestown colonists
on the Bermuda islands in 1609 (Frey 29).The play entails the romance of Ferdinand, Alonso s son
and Miranda, Prospero s daughter; while also detailing a twelve year power struggle that is resurfacing
itself in a treacherous plot for power. In comparison to the New World s politics, The Tempest can be
read as a play that deals with these same political issues: rebellion of constituted authorities,
colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives, marriages and romances of royalty, masters
and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia.
In the New World, there is a balance of power and a struggle to maintain this balance

Rob Reiner does an excellent job importing Charachter, Diction, and Spectical in this magnificent

Jack Nicholson in this movie does a outstanding job being Col. Nathan Jessep in making the movie
goer not like him for many different reasons. Jack nicholson uses plenty of emotion throughout the
movie showing how powerful he thinks he is, at times how corrupt and cuel he can be. You can tell
from Nicholsons facial expressions throughout the play on what he is thinking and what he might

that he responds to the other officers is in a tone making it crystal clear that he is above them in rank,
but he alslo has a short teemper throughout the film you will se him use sarcasm or anger to show his
pig headedness. Rob Reiners film showes imense spectical throughout the movie. Using military

Introductory. Something That Humans All Have In Common,
Introductory Something that humans all have in common, is aging. Every single one of us ages and as
we age a lot of us get to have a friend along the way. That friend is aching pain. This aching pain can
stem from a certain disease, named osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common rheumatic
disease, primarily affecting the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone of a synovial joint,
eventually resulting in joint failure. (Fransen, 2015) Chances are that someone close to you has
osteoarthritis as it is a very prevalent chronic disease. Living with a chronic disease does not bring

Exercise is something that can easily be taught to patients and nurses have the prime opportunity to
educate patients that are at risk or have osteoarthritis before they need a joint replacement surgery.
Mobility is a huge part of each individual s life and joints play a crucial role in one s mobility. When a
joint s function decreases a person s mobility, many other things are at risk to decrease as well such as
skin integrity and the cardiovascular system. As a nurse, it is important to treat patients holistically
and when one part is not functioning, such as the joint, it is our job to bring function back to improve
one s health overall.
Methods
Many of the studies reviewed followed similar methods to collecting data related to exercise and knee
osteoarthritis. There were many systematic reviews that supported this PICO question and determined
whether land based therapeutic exercise is beneficial for people with knee osteoarthritis in terms of
reduced joint pain or improved physical function and quality of life. All of the studies had searched

The Reformative Speech On Waterfowl Hunting
The informative speech tends to be one of my personal favorites when it comes to publically
performing the speech in front of a group of peers. This speech tends to be one of my particular
favorites due to the fact that if you are going to be presenting it, you should be the one who knows the
most about the topic and should be delivering it in a fashion in which your peers find interesting. Even
if the topic itself isn t a very popular topic you as a presenter should be able to make connections to
the audience during this time which makes them very intrigued with your topic and maybe even
considering further research in that area
When asked to pick a topic for this speech for a while it left me bewildered, and I had a lot of
difficulty picking a topic until I heard the first few speech s, Once I realized that my classmates were
choosing based off of their own interests I knew I had a topic to talk about, that being waterfowl

because of my family s background in the sport. My family has been duck Hunting since before I was
even born, and as soon as my father could he brought me on his boat, this was a January day on the
saltwater marshes of Long Island with the temperature hovering around ten degrees. Of course, the
Bay Constable showed up to our boat coming to do an inspection because of the crowded marshes on
the south shore of Long Island have houses built right on the shore line, so hearing shotguns blasting
off at ducks tends to scare people at 6:30 AM, So after dropping the blind so that the officer can look
in our boat to check that we have all the proper equipment, and safety precautions taken, Until I
popped up in the big orange lifejacket and just bout scare the cop into the freezing marsh, and after he

important to the poem is the revolution will not be brought to you by the Schaefer Award Theatre and

Theme Of The Scarlet Ibis
In the short story The Scarlet Ibis, James Hurst uses the setting to have a greater effect on how the
reader feels while reading the text. Hurst uses the setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text,
such as Doodle learning how to walk and stand, the dark parts of the narrative, such as when Doodle
dies, and also uses setting to bring attention to the emotions felt by the reader and mood of the story.
Hurst uses setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text in order to affect how the audience feels
while reading the story. Doodle stands up for the first time in Old Woman Swamp, which is a very
happy and carefree place. There, the grass beneath [them] was soft and the smell of the swamp was

as he has made a major life achievement. He completes this achievement in Old Woman Swamp,
which was a very happy place. Doodle himself calls Old Woman Swamp So pretty, pretty, pretty.
Many flowers can be found in Old Woman Swamp, and Brother describes these flowers as jewels.
Brother also makes note of the way the sunlight touched the tops of the trees, [where] the slanted rays
of the sun [burns] orange in the tops of the pines. This gives Old Woman Swamp a glowing and
heaven like feeling, which translates to the reader, so the reader will feel just as lighthearted and

their business by choosing the next location abroad for a new start up site. Glass Etching Incorporated

The business was originally created in the home of its owners, Tom and Heidi Morgan. Tom and Heidi

and buying and selling sites, such as EBay. The products offered by GEI include an array of glassware
items to choose from, in which, these items are then sand blasted (etched) with a specific illustrated
design, letters, and/or wording, chosen by the customer. These products are then expedited to the
customer. The company s mission is to provide high quality etched artwork and design on glassware.
Also, the company s purpose is to provide a one of a kind product for the customer, priced reasonably
and competitively and to have the business be solely conducted online by means of electronic
commerce. With the momentum of the company s progress, profit and popularity, the Morgan s

When the film is detailing more of the distressing components of this case, suspenseful and tense

The Modern Identity Of The United States Of America
The modern identity of the United States of America is predicated on the notion that all men are
created equal. However, behind the idealism of aphorisms such as these found in America s founding
documents exists the truth of the American situation: that equality has exceptions. In the eyes of
Thomas Jefferson and other framers, all men were white landowners. The dichotomy of equality for
all men and the third estate was a feature of democracy in America for centuries and a defining
characteristic of the American South in particular. The belief in race based dichotomy was perpetuated
by the landed gentry of the South, the political elite, to the masses, establishing the rise of a
conservative base in the latter half of nineteenth century which hindered black civil rights for decades
and defines the enduring qualities of the Southern political ethos to this day. Alexis de Tocqueville, in
his book Democracy in America, states that while the [settlers] found themselves in analogous
situations...they governed themselves on different principles. In the settlement of the Southern
colonies of North America in the 1600s, an aristocratic society began develop from the cultivation of
crops. Land formed the basis of the aristocracy, which was supported by privilege from birthright and
inheritance (Serow). As plantations began to develop, their owners became the upper echelon of
Southern society, around which the majority of political activity was centered. Powerful voices

Essay about Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism
In this assignment I shall be exploring three theories of teaching and learning. They are Humanism,
Cognitivism and Behaviourism. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then
explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself personally
in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism.
Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s] freedom
to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467).
When teaching a lesson a teacher is more of a facilitator when planning and delivering a lesson. An

This is an active type of learning and more intrinsically motivating but there are risks involved in
delivering a lesson or task in this way. A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations and a
lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically motivating
but can be better controlled by the tutor.
This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist
Ausabel.
Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing
knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48)
Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and when
that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel also
encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the lesson so the
learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive information. As
mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as mollycoddling . I personally
believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. To have an advanced organiser at the
beginning of the lesson, then being given the tasks in the logical order but with the learner discovering
the answers for themselves with the tutors help can

For the purpose of the experiment, I must acknowledge that my hypothesis may be wrong. Therefor,
my null hypothesis is that there is no relationship between sex and income, proving that the pay gap

Results
In order for a theory to be accepted, it must be tested. While one can rely upon the results of other
researchers, it is important to conduct one s own test in order to correctly receive results. Although I

order to find an initial relationship I conducted a means comparison test between my independent
variable, sex, and my dependent variable, respondent s income. When I ran the means comparison test

falls between the economic bracket of $25,000 $29,999 and $30,000 $34,999. The average income of
females was 13.21, which fell between the economic bracket of $20,000 $22,499 and $22,500

Igbo culture for a man to be called a real man, he must have at least two wives. Unlike in Umofia, the
white settlers believe that polygamous marriages are a sin due to their practice of Christian values.
What was seemingly normal to the Igbo culture was shamed in European culture which is why the

Desensitization In Heart Of Darkness
The world will remain as brutal as our level of desensitization to its brutality. (Unknown) Many
humans in this world no longer feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering as they
are overexposed to such images. In other words, these people have become desensitized and display
no empathy towards others. In the event that one is exposed to these types of surroundings on a
regular basis they begin to adapt and become unaware of how heinous their actions actually are.
Though not everyone partakes in these atrocious acts of violence, they are still in the wrong as they
are simply bystanders watching the victims being abused. In essence desensitization causes humans to
adapt, become callous to their surroundings, and become apathetic towards the others right to live.
Adaptation is the action or process in which an organism becomes suited to its environment. As an
illustration, this article on violence in prison focuses on the idea that one adapts to their surroundings
and gets used to what is happening around them. I learned to adapt to my situation, but adaptation

  • 2. Health Care Trends and Perceptions Regarding the Insurance... Health Care Determine what correlations can be made regarding the increase in population and the public perception of the health insurance system. Be sure to present your thoughts in a credible manner that is non offensive yet factual. The population has been steadily increasing in the United States since its founding. For a long period the US led the industrialized world in its fertility rate however, though this rate has slowed in recent generations with Americans having few babies per household, immigration into the US has become one of the main drivers of the expanding population (Wang, 2013). Furthermore, the population is also steadily aging and therefore often requires more in terms of health care services. All of these factors contribute to a trend in which health care accessibility is becoming more and more limited in all types of coverage s. For example, those who have private health insurance may be faced with higher out of pocket costs and limited services to attempt to control costs while those without private insurance could be potentially excluded from service all together. One study found that in 2007 nearly two thirds of all bankruptcies were related to medical expenses; a trend that has been rapidly increasing since the turn of the century (McCarthy, 2009). It is reasonable to believe that such trends correlate to a negative perception of the health insurance system. Consider the health trends in the U.S. over the last two decades and make some ... I have more than 8 thousand followers on Facebook. Hence, I will be the right candidate to provide marketing, events and communications support for the division. My recent internship with the ANU Science Communication and Marketing has been a great training in creating materials to document and publicizing it through different media channels. I gave input for the office during the ANU Stargazing event. I have also developed a communication and outreach strategy for the office to boost its campaign during the National Science Week 2017 in the ACT. I have learnt 11 different languages (in a different level from basic to fluent) and these were a great source to develop understanding of communication from a cultural context. The way I will communicate an American, it needs to be a slightly different with a Briton. This is how communication and engagement becomes culturally compatible. And, I am master of it. As a full time journalistic working experience, I believe I also have a strong negotiation and liaison skill. Moreover, I have completed 3 courses offered by the Science Communication department at the ANU, which gave me further insights on negotiation and liaison skills with government, non government and external stakeholders such as industry bodies and ... • 5. Chemical Warfare Persuasive Reasearch Essay The purpose of this essay is to deal with the fact that chemical warfare should be brought back to modern warfare strategies. As Warren Rudman said, And they will tell you unequivocally that if we have a chemical or biological attack or a nuclear attack anywhere in this country, they are unprepared to deal with it today, and that is of high urgency. Rudman s words are true in what they say and that we should do everything to counter act his statement. (Spartacus) The fact that we cannot use chemical weapons is a very bad thing. We could have used these weapons in the Vietnam War. With all the tall grass and dense forests, our soldiers were not prepared for the close up combat. If we had used the chemical agents in that forest, we could have eliminated hidden enemy forces and we would have saved many American soldiers lives. With the growing problem of the war in the Middle East, we could use chemical weapons in order to siphon out enemy forces hidden in houses. Enemies will hide in houses and then emerge when we are near by surprise and they kill many soldiers by doing so. Our families are greatly affected by the loss of a son, father, or brother. With soldiers dying every day, the problem could be fixed by using chemical weapons because they flow into hard to attack areas. It is the only way to eliminate an enemy without radioactive nuclear force. Chemical weapons would lessen the deaths of our soldiers. There are many repercussions to not having a biological weapon. If we cannot reinstate chemical warfare, we will continue to lose many soldiers lives. Having chemical weapons is like when we came out with the UCAV. Anselm s Existence of God Refuted Essay Anselm s Existence of God Refuted Anselm s Existence of God Refuted If the only proofs for the existence of God were Aquinas s five ways and Anselm s ontological argument, in my opinion, Anselm provides the best reasoning. I am not saying that Anselm s argument is good, or even valid, but just that given the set of proofs by Aquinas and Anselm, Anselm s is better. Anselm argues, in effect, that the existence of God is built into the very concept of God. He proceeds by a form of argument called reductio ad absurdum reduction to absurdity. He attempts to show that the position of the fool the non believer who has said in his heart, There is no God is incoherent and leads to absurdity. (Cottingham, 1996: 246) How does ... As Anselm himself points out, a painter may have the completed work of art in his mind, but that does not make it a real painting. (Cottingham, 1996: 246) What Anselm tries to show next is that in this case, having an idea in the understanding requires one to admit that the thing exists in reality as well. For suppose that God exists only in the understanding. Then we can conceive of a greater being: one who exists in reality as well. Moreover, that would mean that this God who exists only in the understanding is not the greatest conceivable being. (Cottingham, 1996: 246) Now we have a contradiction. Now come to the case of God. The GCB would have to be wise, because a wise being is greater than a being that is not wise. In addition, the GCB would have to be just, because justice is better than injustice. What Anselm is claiming is that the GCB must also exist, because a being that exists in reality is greater than one that exists merely in the understanding. So: It would be a contradiction to say; God (the GCB) is not wise It would be a contradiction to say, God is not just. In addition, it would be a contradiction to say, God does not exist. • 14. Organ Donation For An Organ Transplant According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services 18 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant. They also state that one organ donor can save up to eight lives. Those are significant numbers that should make us very much aware of the monumental impact organ donation can have on the lives of so many critically ill patients and their families. Although the tragedy of an accident or horrifying event is sometimes unbearable for the patient and the patient s family, it may result in what some may call a new hope for those who are awaiting organ transplantation. Emergency department doctors and nurses play an integral part between life and death, between trying to save the patient and preserving the option of organ donation in the patient who cannot be saved. There are two sources for donor organs. The first source removes organs from recently deceased people. These organs are called cadaveric organs. A person becomes a cadaveric organ donor by indicating that they would like to be an organ donor when they die. This decision is usually noted either on a driver s license or on a health care directive. (Ethics of Organ Transplantation, 2004) The second source for donor organs is a living person. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano, Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of Claribel, daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his sorcery to conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island. In comparison to the New World s politics, The Tempest can be read as a play that deals with these same political issues: rebellion of constituted authorities, colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives, marriages and romances of royalty, masters and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia. Every single one of us ages and as we age a lot of us get to have a friend along the way. That friend is aching pain. This aching pain can stem from a certain disease, named osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common rheumatic disease, primarily affecting the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone of a synovial joint, eventually resulting in joint failure. (Fransen, 2015) Chances are that someone close to you has osteoarthritis as it is a very prevalent chronic disease. • 32. The Modern Identity Of The United States Of America The modern identity of the United States of America is predicated on the notion that all men are created equal. However, behind the idealism of aphorisms such as these found in America s founding documents exists the truth of the American situation: that equality has exceptions. In the eyes of Thomas Jefferson and other framers, all men were white landowners. The dichotomy of equality for all men and the third estate was a feature of democracy in America for centuries and a defining characteristic of the American South in particular. The belief in race based dichotomy was perpetuated by the landed gentry of the South, the political elite, to the masses, establishing the rise of a conservative base in the latter half of nineteenth century which hindered black civil rights for decades and defines the enduring qualities of the Southern political ethos to this day. Alexis de Tocqueville, in his book Democracy in America, states that while the [settlers] found themselves in analogous situations...they governed themselves on different principles. In the settlement of the Southern colonies of North America in the 1600s, an aristocratic society began develop from the cultivation of crops. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself personally in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism. Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s] freedom to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467). A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations and a lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically motivating but can be better controlled by the tutor. This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist Ausabel. Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48) Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and when that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel also encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the lesson so the learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive information. As mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as mollycoddling . I personally believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. • 37. Desensitization In Heart Of Darkness The world will remain as brutal as our level of desensitization to its brutality. (Unknown) Many humans in this world no longer feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering as they are overexposed to such images. In other words, these people have become desensitized and display no empathy towards others. In the event that one is exposed to these types of surroundings on a regular basis they begin to adapt and become unaware of how heinous their actions actually are. Though not everyone partakes in these atrocious acts of violence, they are still in the wrong as they are simply bystanders watching the victims being abused. In essence desensitization causes humans to adapt, become callous to their surroundings, and become apathetic towards the others right to live. Adaptation is the action or process in which an organism becomes suited to its environment. As an illustration, this article on violence in prison focuses on the idea that one adapts to their surroundings and gets used to what is happening around them. I learned to adapt to my situation, but adaptation came at a cost. I became desensitized to the violence that I witnessed around me (Papa, 2016).
