Catheterization Term Paper
The decision either to perform or not to perform a cardiac catheterization in a patient who also has
acute renal failure can be a difficult decision to reach. Diagnostic blood and urine tests can prove to be
beneficial in helping the provider make such a tough decision. The contrast used in the cardiac
catheterization can harm the function of the kidneys, and it can push the patient from acute to chronic
renal failure, which can influence quality of life as well as morbidity and mortality. When a patient has
chest pain, the nurse practitioner should perform a thorough assessment to ensure the angina is cardiac
related and not from another source, such as pleuritic chest pain or muscular chest pain (Grossman
Porth, 2014). Once it is confirmed by one s assessment that the chest pain is cardiac related, then one
should look at serum diagnostic results, such as the cardiac enzymes. ... Show more content on

(2012) is the urinary live type fatty acid binding protein (L FABP). Manabe et al. (2012) found L
FABP is a valuable predictor of contrast induced nephropathy for individuals with chronic kidney
disease who required contrast for diagnostics prior to actual exposure to the dye. The predictive level
of L FABP is greater than or equal to 24.5 µg/g for individuals with chronic kidney failure prior to
contrast exposure (Manabe et al., 2012); this means that if an individual has an L FABP level of 24.5
or higher, then the likelihood of developing contrast induced nephropathy is high. However, there is a
need for more studies for the utility of L FABP for individuals with acute kidney failure, instead of
chronic kidney failure. If this test proves to be beneficial for individuals with acute renal failure, then
perhaps this could assist providers in their evaluation of the risks and benefits associated with contrast
involved diagnostic studies and interventions in patients with acute renal

Literary Analysis Of Two Kinds By Amy Tan
For millions of immigrants, America has been seen as the land of opportunity where anyone could
become anything he or she wanted to be. A family that believes strongly in the American dream can be
found in Amy Tan s short story, Two Kinds. The story centers around the daughter of a Chinese
immigrant who desperately wants her daughter to become successful. In the story, the author shows
the difficult lives immigrants face when moving to a new culture. In this short story, the theme shows
the protagonist s conflict with her mother on the type of daughter her mother wants her to be. The
author establishes the theme of how difficult mother daughter relationships can be through
characterization, setting, and symbolism.
Primarily, Tan establishes the theme of the story through characterization. The protagonist, Jing mei,
finds it difficult to live up to the high expectations her mother has set for her. After seeing so much
disappointment in her mother s face, Jine mei look[s] in the mirror above the bathroom sink and when
[she] saw only [her] face staring back and that it would always be this ordinary face she began to cry
(Tan 2). This bring Jing mei and her mother into conflict with Jing mei eventually screaming at her
mother that [she] wish[ed] she were dead. Like them (Tan 8). As she matures, Jing mei becomes a
little more level headed; she then understands her mother only wants the best for her. Through diction
and language, the author creates a character that is

The Lowell Offering
In the article, The Lords and The Mill Girls the author Maury Klein, explains to us the rise and fall of
women working in the factory setting. In doing so he makes the argument that democracy is
incompatible with capitalism. Over time expectations about democracy can change and many times
greed is the driving factor. The author uses quotes from a variety of people, all of which corroborate
the idea the working conditions women faced in Lowell changed from being a positive model of a
work environment in a factory setting to a dismal work environment in less than 10 years. (check the
time range). Since the quotes were from a wide demographic of individuals, they are fairly reliable
because they represent more than one view about Lowell. Klein also discussed the Lowell Offering as
a source of information and its impact on the perception of the manufacturer to describe the standard
of living in Lowell. The women working in the factory contributed stories to the Lowell Offering. At
first, their writing showed that they were interested in bettering themselves by being willing to write

An example of one instance when women were working in factories was in WWI where many of the
men went to war. During WWI, women had the opportunity to work in factories making munitions for
the war. At first, it actually gave women the feeling of freedom and made the push for equality for
women to have the same rights as men move forward, although the push to have more women in the
workforce really started after the war ended. At that time, many of the women were sent back into the
home setting. This action of taking away women s freedom upset many hard working women who did
not want to leave the manufacturing work environment. Even today, equal rights for women in the
workforce is still a very heated topic for those who believe that women are still not treated

Microfridge
A
Report on
Microfridge: The Concept
Introduction:
Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business with
his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator, freezer and
microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator
shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa.
Analysing the Microfridge:
This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator
and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact
device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ...

Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to
target 120 colleges in a year.
Recommendation and Plan of Action:
To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using
their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the
market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create
trust and generate a greater brand following and value.
Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy
needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to
adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an
amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons
to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and
its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in
student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to
be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home.
A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press.

Hinduism And The Islamic Religion
Thousands of years has passed since man was created, and ever since then people have always
worshipped a higher figure, being or object. For primitive humans the first thing they worshipped was
a stone, then plants and trees. As time passed and civilization evolved, it altered and man started to
worship animals, especially those that had a dominant physical trait. People s adoration then changed
to the elements, then to man in the form of priests, kings or prophets and finally it has, settled on
Heavenly Beings which are worshipped by different religions. Two of the more prominent religions in
society are Hinduism and the Islamic religion. The Origins of Worship | Urantia Book | Urantia

This is evident in their god Surya who is their sun god, Garuda the messenger god and Hanuman, the
god of courage and power. Yet, there has to be more prominent deities in their religion, and there is.
There are three gods which are a part of the Hinduism triumvirate, which are the gods that have the
responsibility of the creation, preservation and destruction of the world, they include Brahma, Vishnu
and Shiva. Brahma, is the creator God and is considered to have been the founder of the world. Even
though he played such a vital role in the creation of Earth, he is the least worshiped god in Hinduism.
This is mainly because his role in creation is, apparently, over. The god Vishnu is proclaimed to be the
powerful preserver and protector. This god is one of the more worshiped gods due to defending the
world that we live on. The god responsible for destruction is Shiva. Even though it sounds like this
god has a passion for slaughter, the destruction that Shiva causes is believed to extinguish the flaws in
our world. (Swami krishnananda.org. 2015) and (bbc.co.uk. 2015)
Even though followers of Hinduism have many gods in their religion they usually have a personal
God which they support the most and worship more than the others. Whilst a large percentage of
Hindu s believe in hundreds of gods, some like to argue that there is only one or three gods to
worship. (Shaivam.org. 2015)
By worshipping different gods the followers of Hinduism

To fully comprehend the cause and effect of collapse and the factors that play into it, one must first
understand the definition. Collapse is the counterpart of sustainability; if a society creates a non
sustainable way of life then collapse will occur. Sustainability can be defined as the ability to adapt
and progress as a civilization economically, ecologically and socially and thus collapse is the inability
to adapt effectively in these areas (Thiele). Moreover, although a full fledge collapse can be an
extinction of an entire species, unwarranted population displacement, culture and ideology change and
suffering are all indicators of a collapse occurring (Diamond). The phenomenon of having a
civilization completely wiped off the face of the Earth with no signs and influence left in the world to

than they could imagine. Although the soil was not immensely fertile to begin with, the lack of tree
roots made the soil turn into sand and unable to grow tropical fruits. The trees and the fruit which
grew upon them provided land birds, both a home and a stable food source. Deforestation resulted in a
rapid decrease in the bird population, which was a serious threat to food availability. In addition, fish

Disadvantages Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence Introduction Artificial intelligence is the study and development of enabling
computer and machine technology to learn, simulate intelligence, use logic, and perform tasks that are
typically performed by humans. Artificial intelligence is an area of research that has been prone to
controversy. Researchers are conflicted in regards to whether artificial intelligence is beneficial. Some
believe that it will help solve many societal issues, others fear that it will cause further problems.
Although technological advances bring many benefits, some members of society question what the
major impacts will be long term. Brief History of AI The history of artificial intelligence (AI), begins

Along with the unveiling of the mechanical man, Westinghouse Electric also introduced his
companion Sparko, a mechanical dog.3 The emergence of multiple new inventions in the 20th century
gave way to many new terminologies. In 1943, Arturo Rosenblueth, Norbert Wiener, and Julian
Bigelow coined the term cybernetics, and by 1948 Norbert Wiener published a popular book with the
same name. By 1950, the inquiries about AI brought about the publishing of Computing Machinery
and Intelligence, by A.M. Turing. In Turing s seminal paper, Turing raises the question of the AI s
ability to think and make decisions as an intelligent human would. This paper would lead to a standard
testing called the Turing Test, which would be used by many researchers of artificial intelligence. Less
than a decade later, the term artificial intelligence would be coined in 1956 by John McCarthy at the
Dartmouth Conference, which was exclusively devoted to AI discoveries.4 During the time between
the early 1970s and late 1980s there were many inventions that contradicted and confirmed beliefs
about artificial intelligence. These inventions ranged from a more advanced chess playing computer
used to train chess players, to natural language programs. One noted milestone in AI history is the
accomplishment of ALVINN (an Autonomous Land Vehicle in a Neural Network), which drove 2800

The Legacy Of John Ireland
Unlike presidents, state governors tend to fade in the memories of citizens. Overtime, despite many
accomplishments and two terms, John Ireland has joined the long lost list of forgotten governors. The
mention of his name fails to incite anything but blank expressions from Texas citizens. In light of his
influence on one of Texas most famed buildings, it might seem as though his name might ring a
couple of bells, but no such luck. Clearly, John Ireland has been forgotten for too long. What did this
man do for Texas and why should he be remembered? Time to find out. Although Ireland lived in
Texas for the majority of his life, he was born in Millerstown, Kentucky in January of 1827 (Elliot).
His lifetime law career began at the young age of eighteen when he took on a deputy sheriff position
in his home county (Who was John Ireland?). Even in the face of limited educational opportunities
(his parents were Irish immigrants), Ireland succeeded in becoming a lawyer in 1852 (Johnson 42).
Only a year after this triumph, John moved to Seguin, Texas and began a prosperous law career
(Johnson 43). Following the proper order of things, Ireland married Matilda Wicks Faircloth in 1854,
but she would die two years later (Elliot). However, John Ireland does not seem to be the kind of man
anyone could keep down for long, as he married again in 1857 (Elliot). With his new wife, Anna
Maria Penn, Ireland had three daughters (Elliot). Although he was starting a family, John continued

Guess Who s Coming At Dinner Directed By Stanley Kramer
Guess Who s Coming to Dinner directed by Stanley Kramer is a controversial movie from the late
1960 s. The premise of the film is a young white woman named Joey Drayton (Katharine Houghton);
who falls in love with an older African American Doctor John Prentice, (Sidney Poitier). The new
loving couple meets in Hawaii and after ten days of knowing each other are engaged. Joanna Drayton
sees no difference between her and John, she is in love and ready to marry her new fiancé, She insist
he meet her parents, who come to find out are not as thrilled about the news of their White daughter

shocked about their African American son marrying a white woman. Interracial marriage was
legalized in the United States on June 12th 1967 by the Supreme Court, the film Guess Who s Coming
to Dinner was released December 11th 1967, only 6 months after the ruling was made, meaning this
film was in production before interracial marriage was legal in the entire United States. This film was
the first of its kind and opened a window to an unexplored world of marriage between blacks and
whites.

Graphic Images And Biological Markers
Abstract For all neuropsychiatric disorders, there are key graphic images and biological markers, also
known as biomarkers, which can facilitate early diagnosis and the formulation of the most efficacious
intervention. In sum, biomarkers work similar to a calling card by identifying the symptoms and the
impact it is having on the individual. In some cases of depression, there are clear signs that can help
clinicians understand the lasting effects on the person by identifying the condition s etiology, ruling
out alternative diagnoses, and predicting progression when used in combination with other clinical
tools and patient interviews. Biomarkers are indicators of a disease state as they can be used to

Together, these different elements will highlight the effects of depression and how they shape the way
someone sees the world around them. Outline Of Depression There are a number of different types of
depression, all of which interfere with people s day to day lives. Two of the more severe types are
major depression and persistent depressive disorder (Johnson Indvik, 2009). These types of depression
are generally characterized by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, low mood, negative attitudes
about the self, joylessness, and increased sadness, with the former lasting a few days, weeks or months
while the latter persists for two years or more (Johnson Indvik, 2009). A subclinical biomarker is
determining the specific signs of depression and how they might affect an individual s behavior. The
most notable signs for depression include structural abnormalities in the hippocampus (Fu Costafreda,
2013), decreased left midfrontal gyrus activities, improving right frontal gyrus activation, increased
connections between the precuneus seed region and rising left orbitofrontal cortex /paracingulate
activation during non win outcomes during a reward processing task (Felder et al., 2012). These
elements are showing the long term impacts depression will have on the body. This is taking place

Sexual Issues With Cultural Controversies
Identify four sexual issues with cultural controversies
Casual Sex
People who are not in a committed relationship also known as hookups or friends with benefits. The
controversial issue of casual sex are adverse effects of hookups may consist of emotional
entanglement, psychological harm, sexual violence, sexually transmitted infections, and or unplanned
pregnancy. People who have experience hook up behavior has linked with a variety of mental health
factors (Garcia, 2013). Additionally, although some individuals are having casual sex, not all enjoy
being in that type of relationship. Which may cause some to have low self esteem, anxiety, and feeling
of being pressured and discomfort (Paul et al., 2000). As a result feeling guilty and resentment.
Women were more likely to feel guilt and have negative feelings than men (Garcia, 2013). These
negative sense of guilt and resentments may connect to individuals wanting a more intimate and
committed relationship.
Today s casual sex culture and sexual risk may consist of adverse outcomes, as well as, emotional and
psychological harm, sexually transmitted infections, sexual violence, and unintended pregnancy,
despite the ubiquity of certain positive feelings.

Great American Cities
In Jacob s book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, the various ways that city planning is
being practiced incorrectly are explored. One problem that cities are encountering is the decay of inner
city areas that are forming slums . City planners have been attempting to mend this problem by
spending money on new low income housing projects and developments. This tactic does not fix the
problem of high crime rates and low levels of education because these people stay in the same area
just in slightly better housing and still without proper education and opportunities. Another reason
why these problems do not improve is that planners focus on how a city should look and not on the
actual happenings in the real city. The author mentions

The Battle Against General Magnus And His Army
It was 1930 at the railhead on Fort Bragg; they had completed loading the equipment on the big black
iron monster of a train, and covering them with heavy black tarps, which they secured to the flatbeds.
Colonel Lambert was no longer running the combat train; he remained back in Washington D.C. with
his command, the 3rd Infantry Regiment. With the Army of the Potomac less than thirty miles out of
the capital it was time for him to return to his duties. He placed Major Reese Sales in charge of this
particular mission; it was of the highest importance and no doubt would make a huge difference in the
fight against General Magnus and his Army. There were only a few people aware of the cargo that was
being transported north, the Major of course, Colonel Lambert, Brigadier General Clayton who s idea
it was, and the post commander of Fort Bragg. Major Sales boarded the train with the additional
Soldiers he was bringing with him from Bragg; they were there to operate the equipment they were
transporting. It would take a little over twelve hours to make it to the capital, another couple of hours
to unload everything, test it, and then get it into action. Both General Clayton and Colonel Lambert
were foaming at the mouth to get them there and into the fight. The train moved out at 1945 under the

were going to be very busy. Brigadier General Clayton was back in Washington D.C.

The Seven Amendments
The constitution of the United States of America is the founding document on which the government
of America is built. It currently has twenty seven amendments. It lines out the specific government
practices as well as the system of check and balances. It was first drafted July, 1787 after the first form
of government, the articles of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a point where it became
almost redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the acting continental congress
decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution was efficient and fair and it kept the
parts of government in place while not giving too much power to one or more branches.
After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and rights that the average
citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are the foundation on what the freedom of
America is built with. The amendments spell out the freedoms that Americans had, everything from
the right of religious freedoms to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly debated subjects
today. They made America what America was, the freest country in the world
Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects Religion and the right
to practice it. The first amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law
respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom

Intertextuality In Wide Sargasso Sea By Aime Cesaire
Intertextuality is the ongoing interaction between poems or stories. Some examples include:
Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
In his novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, Jean Rhys gathers some events occurred in the famous novel the
novel, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. The purpose is to tell the readers an alternative tale. Rhys
presents the wife of Mr. Rochester, who played the role of a secondary character in Jane Eyre. Also,
the setting of this novel is Jamaica not England, and author develops the back story for his major
character. While spinning the novel, Jane Eyre, she gives her interpretation amid the narrative by
addressing issues such as roles of women, colonization and racism that Bronte did not point out in her
novel otherwise.
A Tempest by Aime Cesaire
Aime Cesaire s play, A Tempest is an adaptation of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. The author
parodies Shakespeare s play from post colonial point of view. Cesaire also changes the occupations
and races of his characters. For example, he transforms the occupation of Prospero, who was a
magician, and changes him into a slave owner, and also changes Ariel in Mulatto, though he was a
spirit. Cesaire, like Rhys, makes use of a famous work of literature, and put a spin on it in order to
express the themes of power, slavery and colonialism.
For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
In the following example, Hemingway uses intertextuality for the title of his novel. He takes the title
of a poem, Meditation XVII written by John Donne. The excerpt of this poem reads: No man is an
island...and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Hemingway not
only uses this excerpt for the title of his novel, he also makes use of the idea in the novel.

A play that I am familiar with is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard. This play
was a way for the writer to copy William Shakespeare s Hamlet play. These two literary works are
connected thematically by both Hamlet and Stoppard s work having the theme of the mystery of
Death. And also death being the cause and consequence and revenge.

Shawangunk Mountain Formation
Abstract: Determining the location of the Shawangunk Mountain formation from our position on the
outcrop can demonstrate a lot about the upbringing of this formation. The Shawangunk Formation,
consisting of quartz pebble conglomerate from the Middle Silurian age, extends from south of the
Hudson Valley down south until Virginia. The vanishing of the formation within the area of
Rosendale, NY has led to investigations of tectonic events. Due to the Taconic orogeny, we see the
formation of the Shawangunk Mountains being formatted. Through the transgression of fluvial
system, the Shawangunk Mountain formation rose southeast as the result of the tectonic deformation.
The coarse grained beds in the lower portion of the outcrop demonstrate a very ... Show more content

to how detriots react. Notice the orange tints to the beds towards the top of the outcrop are due to the
oxidation of iron. It began dissolving iron into the rock formation that oxidizes as the air hits. Green
coloring is also exposed due to the algae, and moss growing. This displays the terrestrial life forms

What Are The Four Federal Safety Standards
4 Federal Safety Standards Your Company Must Follow to a Tee
The Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) employs about 2,200 safety inspectors that
oversee over 130 million workers in eight million worksites. OSHA safety inspectors are tasked with
investigating accidents, performing surprise inspections and consulting with companies to improve
safety conditions. The last thing that any company needs is a surprise inspection that results in hefty
fines and safety citations. Read below to learn about four federal safety standards that your company
must follow. https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?
p_table=FEDERAL_REGISTER p_id=13403 Fall Protection
According to OSHA, lack of fall protection is the most frequency cited violation. For example,
construction sites notoriously fail to provide adequate fall protection systems. As a result, this is the
leading cause of worker fatalities in the construction industry. On the other hand, any company that
requires employees to work on surfaces above six feet will be required to provide adequate guardrail
and personal fall protection systems. For example, a regular office based business that requires
maintenance personnel to fix roofing problems will be required to follow federal fall protection
standards.

Chronic Kidney Disease Essay
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a worldwide problem that is currently three times higher for African
Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, American Indians and seniors (The National Kidney
Foundation, 2013). CKD occurs when the kidneys are damaged by a pathogen or injury and they can
no longer adequately maintain proper levels of regulated chemicals in the bloodstream. There are
many risk associated with CKD. According to the National Kidney Foundation, two of the major risks
are Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) and Cardiovascular Disease. Currently twenty million American
adults have CKD and millions of others are at increased risk. Age has no barrier on getting CKD.

Injury to the glomerulus and the tubules presents the onset of Intra renal failure (Matzke, 2011). Some
of the frequent causes for Intra renal failure are glomerulonephritis; pyelonephritis; and tubular injury.
Post renal failure develops from things like ureteroliths, tumors, or anatomic impediments. Opposite
of the acute form, the chronic form has a slow onset that has no early stage symptoms. It is important
to know that following an acute episode a chronic renal episode often follows, and at this juncture the
damage is irreversible. Glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis combined, has been reported to be the
forerunner in as much as half the cases from acute to chronic renal failure. Diabetes mellitus, renal
vascular disease, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, drug damage, and
nephrolith are all examples of other causes of CKD (Pradeep, 2014). Biopsies of kidneys that suffered
with CKD reveal smaller kidneys with scarring on the tubules. Causes of kidney disease are wide
ranging in number; however diabetes, high blood pressure, inherited disease, and infection remain to
be the contenders of cause (Davidson, 2011). Acute kidney disease can be identified by anuria and
oedema. CKD is often called a silent killer, because instead of a sign, that would render immediate
evidence, CKD only provides symptoms that many don t know to correlate to renal issues. The
symptoms may also increase at the latter stages of the

CD1 molecules are a family of highly conserved antigen presenting proteins that presents lipid
antigens to T cells. The CD1 family comprises five members (CD1a e) in humans (Hong et al. 1999;
Luoma et al. 2014). Of these molecules, CD1d has been the subject of much interest following the
finding that the molecule is the only member conserved between mice and humans, though murine has
two CD1d molecules, CD1d1 and CD1d2. CD1d molecule could be expressed by most hematopoietic
cells, including dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages, immature and mature T cells and hepatocytes
(Hong et al. 1999). Notably, CD1d could bind and present phospholipids and glycolipids to a
specialized subset of T cells known as natural killer T cells (NKT) (Adams and ... Show more content

The loss of CD1d impairs NKT cell development in the thymus and yields an NKT cell deficient
model. As a result, CD1d knockout mice have been extensively used in the NKT cell studies. For
example, Kotas et al. reported that CD1d deficiency led to a mild exacerbation of steatosis during high
fat or choline deficient feeding, accompanied by impaired hepatic glucose tolerance (Kotas et al.
2011). Martin Murphy et al. found that CD1d deficient mice were more susceptible to weight gain and
fatty liver following high fat diet (HFD) feeding (Martin Murphy et al. 2014). Moreover, CD1d
deficient mice have been reported to be more susceptible to a wide variety of viruses including herpes
simplex viruses (Ashkar and Rosenthal 2003; Grubor Bauk et al. 2003), cytomegalovirus (Broxmeyer
et al. 2007), diabetogenic encephalomyocarditis virus (Exley et al. 2001), and respiratory syncytial
virus (RSV) (Johnson et al. 2002). All of these evidence suggest that CD1d have important
immunological functions. Unfortunately, mouse based discoveries have been difficult to translate to
humans due to considerable differences in NKT cell frequencies, subsets, cytokine secretion profiles
and tissue localization patterns between the two species (Bendelac et al. 2007; Van Kaer et al. 2011a).
We and others have used a mouse reactive CD1d tetramer (TT) reagent loaded with the αGC analog

made you purchase the tread climber that you collects dust in the corner of your living room? Why did
you get the Instyler when your straightening or curling iron works just as well? Why do you

L Likability
Likability is an important aspect of persuasion. It is no coincidence that actors and actresses are all
attractive people; they make you want to see their works. The same applies to Sales Reps. This
phenomena is known as the Halo Effect, which refers to the idea that attractiveness enhances our
perception of the expertise of that person or persons. If you are not up to par to today s beauty
standards, try a few techniques to become more likable:
Listening When dealing with customers, call them by their name, be interested in what they have to
say, and ask questions. Attentiveness is an important skill for anyone involved in sales.
Praise Complimenting your clients is a good way to increase your likability and make that person s
day at the same time. Try to be as sincere as you can and compliment something you actually like
about that person.
Positive Association Positive association links your product with desirable things. For example,
everyone knows the brand Mercedes to be all about luxury. Brands such as these use attractive
models, the idea of luxury, and exclusivity to get their client base to associate their brand with
something their customers need to have. Positive association is a very powerful tool in marketing.
Contrast Get your customers to have a higher opinion of your product or service by comparing it to a

The Characteristics Of Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis ,most famously known as the president of the Confederate States during the Civil War,
was an interesting subject of the 19th century. You would think it was because of his contributions to
the war or lack thereof, but unfortunately he is associated more with his peculiar characteristics. Many
of the characteristics are equivalent to those of basic people carrying out normal lives. The expectancy
of loyalty and respect, indecisiveness, and not being capable of admitting faults, we all know someone
with at least one of these traits, maybe even all of them. So why was it so unique in the case of
Jefferson Davis? Although these were normal traits, the life that Davis lived was not. With such a
public demanding job, every aspect of his life was showcased and under close observation. The
struggle between Davis and his overpowering attributes not only had an effect on his relationships and
friendships, but they also had an impact, not completely negative or positive, on the way he completed
his job. As a child, Davis practically had no say in determining his future. His father Samuel Emory
Davis, although he wasn t the most emotionally present, determined almost every aspect of his son s
life up to his death. It was he that sent Davis to boarding to school at a young age and choose what
university he would attend. Even after the death of Samuel, Davis still did not take control of his life.

Similarities Between Tattoos And Motion Pictures
Tattoos versus Motion Picture
Arguably what comes to mind when a person is intrigued by a tattoo, is curiosity behind the purpose
of it, and most importantly the reasoning. Like a motion picture or short film, there has to be a story
behind it, otherwise there would be confusion. Although tattoos and motion pictures both share many
similarities in story lines, genres, and depth, they have a plethora of differences.
Undoubtedly, these two concepts share story lines. Moreover, the process in development is very
different. Tattoos have a story line that is commonly very sentimental, the meaning is real and deep,
which is why an individual permanently places such kinds of expression on their skin. Although, not
all tattoos are this way, some tattoos might not have any meaning and have been placed upon the skin
for no logical reason. Tattoos have a very different development process, and often mean more to
individuals than movies. Often times when someone is watching a preview to a new movie, their
involvement falls deeper the more they find themselves fascinated by the story line. The story line is
what draws them in, and the more it relates personally, or strikes their imagination on a pathway of
fascination, the more likely they are to continue watching that genre of movie. Therefore, movies only
come to an in mind standpoint, although it has a story line, the display is not nearly as permanent as a
tattoo would be considered.
Arguably both areas have increasingly changed

Private sectors should accommodate those of the LGBTQ community to the best of their ability.
Businesses owners should not be allowed to turn down a resume just because of the sexual orientation
of the applicant, but instead turn them down because of qualification issues. Discriminating against a
LGBTQ citizen is comparable to discriminating against a citizen of a different race; it is unacceptable
in the United States. The SOGI laws are not perfect but they are a start to what the country needs to
achieve in order for everyone to truly be equal. SOGI laws would prohibit schools, charities, and
businesses form using their person views to deny people based off of their sexual orientation, which in
turn restrict the first amendment rights. The first amendment rights is specific cases should be
restricted to allow every citizen the basic human rights they are guaranteed. The Heritage Foundation
makes a better argument by supplying more data in its article as well as more information than The
Institute for Policy Studies, which supplied some information on the topic of rights for all sexual
orientations. Each think tank had political bias toward their side of the political spectrum. The Institute
for Policy Studies is liberal and had the average liberal viewpoints while The Heritage Foundation is
conservative and had the average viewpoints conservatives would have. How SOGI laws would help

Reasons For File A Police Report Essay
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
This chapter provides background of the study and presents the problem statement. It clarifies the
research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of the
remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter.
We focus on the modelling of police reporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody knows,
under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would actually
dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule as to when
those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it is not required
or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or give people excuses
to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat out refuse to take down
the complaint.
There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of
finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover
stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police report
should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most accurate
information possible to conduct a thorough investigation.
Based on the literature review and an interview with police officer, we come

I stand here today to inform you of my motives and rationale that pushed me to become the leader that

first or the abdomen. They both would have been fatal. The amount of power that the horse pistols can
generate shows that Lewis would not have been able to shoot himself twice. One shot would have
immobilized him. If it was someone else shooting him that would make sense that there were two
wounds, because someone else could have shot him. But Lewis shooting himself twice just isn t

Meriwether Lewis was the victim to a murder conspiracy.
Also there is the information from Major James Neelly. Major Neelly was sending a letter to President
Thomas Jefferson about the death of Meriwether Lewis. Major James Neelly was charged with treason
and is a very sketchy person. There has been people who suspect Neelly to be part of the the murder

Men Approaching Death
Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas describes how men feel when approaching
death. The readers are encouraged to approach death with hesitation because you can offer a lot more
to this world if you have the determination to live longer. Thomas use of literary devices emphasize
this idea and gives examples of how men approach death.
The poem begins with the speaker talking to an unknown listener and ends by telling us that the
unknown listener is the speaker s father. The speaker describes the behaviors of various types of
outstanding men and how they view their lives. Throughout the poem, the speaker encourages the
reader to fight until their last dying breath. Thomas directly relates to this poem because it was written
as he watched his father wither away. This poem symbolizes his father s determination to fight.
The structure of the poem itself is a very important factor, as it describes the different views of men ...

Darkness symbolizes death and how it is inevitable. Death is something that everyone will experience
but that does not mean one should allow it to define them. People are should fight for as long as they
can before they greet death and that is exactly what Thomas is trying to say in the second stanza.
Thomas uses the experiences of the noble men in the third stanza to show that they were contempt
with what they did with their life but acknowledge that there is still more time for them. The noble
men are to rage against the dying of the light as they are on their last wave (9). They reminisce on
their pasts together and become aware that although they are near their end they can still accomplish
more in life. Moreover, they approach death with hesitation because they feel like they haven t done
the most they can with their life. They fight against death to try and utilize the time they still have

Hiv And The Prevalence Of Hiv Essay
HIV In Adolescents
Shavon Q Frasier
Delaware Technical and Community College
Abstract
According to the CDC, In the United States the prevalence of HIV in adolescents from age 13 24 is
estimated to account for 22% of all new cases (cdc.gov 2016). Of those cases, the most new cases
occurred among gay and bisexual males. Furthermore young African American and Latino gay and
bisexual males have been affected in higher numbers than any other group. Addressing HIV in our
youth entails multiple avenues to curtail the rising numbers. Including, but not limited to, education,
tools for risk reduction, healthy decisions, effective communication, as well as treatment and care.
How did our nation s youth reach this point? How can change be implemented? The following will
discuss the trends and statistics on the prevalence of HIV in our youth as well as the efforts being
made to decrease the numbers of newly reported cases.
The HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States among adolescents is a continuing upward trend despite
the emphasis on abstinence. Adolescents continue to participate in risky sexual behaviors. Youth age

Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 Analysis
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is an enduring revenge tragedy which reflects the philosophical values
and concepts of the Renaissance era. The humanistic and existentialistic natures of man, as well as the
process of scepticism have a significant impact on the ways one reacts to external factors. Shakespeare
explores how one reacts to their context, encapsulating these philosophies throughout the play.
Caught on the bridge between the Middle Ages and the enlightenment period, the Renaissance era
opened up a wide array of philosophical values concerning the humanistic and existentialistic natures
of man. At this point in history, man surpassed God at centre stage, with the newfound ability to
reason and self determine. Linked to this is the existentialistic ... Show more content on

It is this philosophical scepticism which corrupts the mind of Hamlet, as he embarks on a journey to
foil his uncle s betrayal through his antic disposition . This feigned madness is one of the central
elements of the play, bringing about one of the most discussed questions; whether Hamlet was actually
mad or not. His disposition is also linked to the recurring motif of surveillance, blurring the lines
between appearance and reality. Hamlet s soliloquy in Act 2 Scene 2 acts as a catalyst for change,
springing Hamlet into action as he formulates a surveillance scheme to discover the truth of King
Claudius treachery. Through this, one can assert that while Hamlet captures the essence of madness,
his deep thinking and speculation indicates that he is essentially only mad in craft . It is because of his
scepticism that Hamlet meticulously utilises the metafictional play within a play to observe
his[Claudius ] looks , and hence know my[his] course and kill Claudius. The fact that acting itself is
putting on false appearances symbolises and further highlights the distortion of truth within this
revenge tragedy full of dishonesty. Hamlet s introspective character is able to engage with the
audience through his many soliloquies in which he reveals his suspicions and unadulterated thoughts.
The structure of the play reflects

How Is Heathcliff A Dynamic Character
One of the strongest yet most broken types of people in this world are orphans, the ones who grew up
without parents to teach the ways of the world to them. Very few are so lucky to find families of their
own, and when they do, they are incredibly improved or perilously worse. In the case of Wuthering
Heights, the unfortunate orphan is the character, Heathcliff. Growing up, he was treated with respect
and care from his father, Mr. Earnshaw, like he was his own son, and later was treated like a close
friend by his adoptive sister and love interest, Catherine. However, his adoptive brother, Hindley, was
nothing but discourteous, derogatory, and ghastly towards him. Upon being bequeathed the mansion
and the treasures from his father, Hindley immediately began to treat Heathcliff as nothing more than
a gypsy and a stable boy; no respect, no care, and no love. Heathcliff s character style is very static.

The owner of the estate, Mr. Earnshaw, would have him be raised in his family, as if he were his own
son. As they age, his siblings only treat him with disrespect and hatred, until Catherine begins to take a
liking to them. The two adolescents fall in love, and spend their life in torment because of it; their love
is cursed. When the father dies, his biological son, Hindley, inherits Wuthering Heights and the family
s fortune. Heathcliff is then forced to become the family s servant. Catherine then marries into a
family known as the Lintons so she could be a part of a wealthy, civilized family, but she does not
realize what this does to Heathcliff. Heathcliff then spends the rest of his days deceptively taking
everything away from both the Earnshaws and the Lintons, and becoming the suzerain of both

Examples Of Satire In The Simpsons
The Simpsons: Equal Opportunity Satire While there are many different perspectives on whether the
popular animated show The Simpsons depicts Christianity in a favorable, unfavorable or apathetic
light, my personal opinion is that the signature satirical style of the show is actually a strategy to
please the widest audience, whether religious or not presenting equal opportunity satire. Their
unapologetic and unabashed way of making fun of anything and everything is what has allowed the
show to continue for so many seasons and also allow the viewer to draw their own conclusions. The
diverse characters represented in the series advocate a wide range of different perspectives, ranging
from the atheistic to the theistic. In the 1992 episode, Homer the Heretic, where the plotline can be ...

On one hand, Christians would see the fact that the Simpson home burned and that Homer was saved
by Flanders as divine retribution and a second chance by God for Homer s refusal to attend weekly
services. On the other, atheists would say that the fact that Homer saw God in his dreams would be
simply another instance of people using easily explained natural phenomena to reinforce their biases
and confirmation bias when Homer reinforces his belief in God by being saved by Flanders
(Confirmation Bias). Nevertheless, the show accommodates many different cultures and beliefs.
Pinksy says individually, family members represent a spectrum of belief, from Homer s fear based neo
paganism, to Marge s true belief, to Lisa s disenchantment with mainline, socially conscious
Protestantism, in favor of Buddhism as well as the fundamentalist Flanders family. He also adds that
other, non Protestant denominations and faiths also figure in episodes Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism
and Buddhism (but not Islam) (Pinsky). Regardless, the show has been criticized by Christians since

Persuasive Essay On Gun Laws
Strict gun laws lead to more gun violence and crime in America. Guns are very dangerous and can be
used for harmful reasons, but guns can also be good for America and can be used for protection and
safety. These issues are very serious and can be detrimental which leads to the question, should our
nation s gun laws be changed.
Americans have been facing a major crisis for a while, guns. Gun related crimes have been plaguing
America, especially most major cities. Chicago has the highest murder rate in America, but Chicago
has one of the strictest gun laws in America. The reason that so many people are getting killed in
Chicago is because the law abiding citizens who would acquire guns for protection, have a hard time
acquiring guns due to Chicago s laws, but the people who want to use guns for crimes are willing to
go to extreme heights to get a gun. Guns will continue to be an issue in America if our current gun
laws are not changed.
Multiple political figures and citizens of America believe that the solution to America s gun issue is to
make gun laws more lenient. People believe that if America increases the amount of guns accessible to
the average citizen then America s streets will be safer, and there will be less gun violence. This fact is
backed by Most political figures and citizens who want more guns in America, as they want them for
one large reason, self defense. To support this, author William J Bennett wrote an article supporting
the claim that gun laws should

  • 2. Catheterization Term Paper The decision either to perform or not to perform a cardiac catheterization in a patient who also has acute renal failure can be a difficult decision to reach. Diagnostic blood and urine tests can prove to be beneficial in helping the provider make such a tough decision. The contrast used in the cardiac catheterization can harm the function of the kidneys, and it can push the patient from acute to chronic renal failure, which can influence quality of life as well as morbidity and mortality. When a patient has chest pain, the nurse practitioner should perform a thorough assessment to ensure the angina is cardiac related and not from another source, such as pleuritic chest pain or muscular chest pain (Grossman Porth, 2014). Once it is confirmed by one s assessment that the chest pain is cardiac related, then one should look at serum diagnostic results, such as the cardiac enzymes. ... The predictive level of L FABP is greater than or equal to 24.5 µg/g for individuals with chronic kidney failure prior to contrast exposure (Manabe et al., 2012); this means that if an individual has an L FABP level of 24.5 or higher, then the likelihood of developing contrast induced nephropathy is high. However, there is a need for more studies for the utility of L FABP for individuals with acute kidney failure, instead of chronic kidney failure. If this test proves to be beneficial for individuals with acute renal failure, then perhaps this could assist providers in their evaluation of the risks and benefits associated with contrast involved diagnostic studies and interventions in patients with acute renal ... • 3. Literary Analysis Of Two Kinds By Amy Tan For millions of immigrants, America has been seen as the land of opportunity where anyone could become anything he or she wanted to be. A family that believes strongly in the American dream can be found in Amy Tan s short story, Two Kinds. The story centers around the daughter of a Chinese immigrant who desperately wants her daughter to become successful. In the story, the author shows the difficult lives immigrants face when moving to a new culture. In this short story, the theme shows the protagonist s conflict with her mother on the type of daughter her mother wants her to be. The author establishes the theme of how difficult mother daughter relationships can be through characterization, setting, and symbolism. Primarily, Tan establishes the theme of the story through characterization. The protagonist, Jing mei, finds it difficult to live up to the high expectations her mother has set for her. After seeing so much disappointment in her mother s face, Jine mei look[s] in the mirror above the bathroom sink and when [she] saw only [her] face staring back and that it would always be this ordinary face she began to cry (Tan 2). This bring Jing mei and her mother into conflict with Jing mei eventually screaming at her mother that [she] wish[ed] she were dead. Like them (Tan 8). As she matures, Jing mei becomes a little more level headed; she then understands her mother only wants the best for her. Through diction and language, the author creates a character that is ... • 4. The Lowell Offering In the article, The Lords and The Mill Girls the author Maury Klein, explains to us the rise and fall of women working in the factory setting. In doing so he makes the argument that democracy is incompatible with capitalism. Over time expectations about democracy can change and many times greed is the driving factor. The author uses quotes from a variety of people, all of which corroborate the idea the working conditions women faced in Lowell changed from being a positive model of a work environment in a factory setting to a dismal work environment in less than 10 years. (check the time range). Since the quotes were from a wide demographic of individuals, they are fairly reliable because they represent more than one view about Lowell. Klein also discussed the Lowell Offering as a source of information and its impact on the perception of the manufacturer to describe the standard of living in Lowell. The women working in the factory contributed stories to the Lowell Offering. At first, their writing showed that they were interested in bettering themselves by being willing to write for a ... At that time, many of the women were sent back into the home setting. • 5. Microfridge A Report on Microfridge: The Concept Introduction: Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business with his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator, freezer and microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa. Analysing the Microfridge: This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to target 120 colleges in a year. Recommendation and Plan of Action: To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create trust and generate a greater brand following and value. Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home. A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press. Moreover, although a full fledge collapse can be an extinction of an entire species, unwarranted population displacement, culture and ideology change and suffering are all indicators of a collapse occurring (Diamond). By 1950, the inquiries about AI brought about the publishing of Computing Machinery and Intelligence, by A.M. Turing. In Turing s seminal paper, Turing raises the question of the AI s ability to think and make decisions as an intelligent human would. This paper would lead to a standard testing called the Turing Test, which would be used by many researchers of artificial intelligence. Less than a decade later, the term artificial intelligence would be coined in 1956 by John McCarthy at the Dartmouth Conference, which was exclusively devoted to AI discoveries.4 During the time between the early 1970s and late 1980s there were many inventions that contradicted and confirmed beliefs about artificial intelligence. These inventions ranged from a more advanced chess playing computer used to train chess players, to natural language programs. • 11. The Legacy Of John Ireland Unlike presidents, state governors tend to fade in the memories of citizens. Overtime, despite many accomplishments and two terms, John Ireland has joined the long lost list of forgotten governors. The mention of his name fails to incite anything but blank expressions from Texas citizens. In light of his influence on one of Texas most famed buildings, it might seem as though his name might ring a couple of bells, but no such luck. Clearly, John Ireland has been forgotten for too long. What did this man do for Texas and why should he be remembered? Time to find out. Although Ireland lived in Texas for the majority of his life, he was born in Millerstown, Kentucky in January of 1827 (Elliot). His lifetime law career began at the young age of eighteen when he took on a deputy sheriff position in his home county (Who was John Ireland?). Even in the face of limited educational opportunities (his parents were Irish immigrants), Ireland succeeded in becoming a lawyer in 1852 (Johnson 42). Only a year after this triumph, John moved to Seguin, Texas and began a prosperous law career (Johnson 43). Following the proper order of things, Ireland married Matilda Wicks Faircloth in 1854, but she would die two years later (Elliot). However, John Ireland does not seem to be the kind of man anyone could keep down for long, as he married again in 1857 (Elliot). In some cases of depression, there are clear signs that can help clinicians understand the lasting effects on the person by identifying the condition s etiology, ruling out alternative diagnoses, and predicting progression when used in combination with other clinical tools and patient interviews. Outline Of Depression There are a number of different types of depression, all of which interfere with people s day to day lives. Two of the more severe types are major depression and persistent depressive disorder (Johnson Indvik, 2009). These types of depression are generally characterized by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, low mood, negative attitudes about the self, joylessness, and increased sadness, with the former lasting a few days, weeks or months while the latter persists for two years or more (Johnson Indvik, 2009). A subclinical biomarker is determining the specific signs of depression and how they might affect an individual s behavior. The most notable signs for depression include structural abnormalities in the hippocampus (Fu Costafreda, 2013), decreased left midfrontal gyrus activities, improving right frontal gyrus activation, increased connections between the precuneus seed region and rising left orbitofrontal cortex /paracingulate activation during non win outcomes during a reward processing task (Felder et al., 2012). One problem that cities are encountering is the decay of inner city areas that are forming slums . City planners have been attempting to mend this problem by spending money on new low income housing projects and developments. This tactic does not fix the problem of high crime rates and low levels of education because these people stay in the same area just in slightly better housing and still without proper education and opportunities. Another reason why these problems do not improve is that planners focus on how a city should look and not on the actual happenings in the real city. The author mentions ... • 21. The Seven Amendments The constitution of the United States of America is the founding document on which the government of America is built. It currently has twenty seven amendments. It lines out the specific government practices as well as the system of check and balances. It was first drafted July, 1787 after the first form of government, the articles of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a point where it became almost redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the acting continental congress decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution was efficient and fair and it kept the parts of government in place while not giving too much power to one or more branches. After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and rights that the average citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are the foundation on what the freedom of America is built with. The amendments spell out the freedoms that Americans had, everything from the right of religious freedoms to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly debated subjects today. They made America what America was, the freest country in the world Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects Religion and the right to practice it. • 23. Intertextuality In Wide Sargasso Sea By Aime Cesaire Intertextuality is the ongoing interaction between poems or stories. Some examples include: Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys In his novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, Jean Rhys gathers some events occurred in the famous novel the novel, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. The purpose is to tell the readers an alternative tale. Rhys presents the wife of Mr. Rochester, who played the role of a secondary character in Jane Eyre. Also, the setting of this novel is Jamaica not England, and author develops the back story for his major character. While spinning the novel, Jane Eyre, she gives her interpretation amid the narrative by addressing issues such as roles of women, colonization and racism that Bronte did not point out in her novel otherwise. A Tempest by Aime Cesaire Aime Cesaire s play, A Tempest is an adaptation of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. The author parodies Shakespeare s play from post colonial point of view. Cesaire also changes the occupations and races of his characters. For example, he transforms the occupation of Prospero, who was a magician, and changes him into a slave owner, and also changes Ariel in Mulatto, though he was a spirit. Cesaire, like Rhys, makes use of a famous work of literature, and put a spin on it in order to express the themes of power, slavery and colonialism. For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway In the following example, Hemingway uses intertextuality for the title of his novel. He takes the title of a poem, Meditation XVII written by John Donne. The excerpt of this poem reads: No man is an island...and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Hemingway not only uses this excerpt for the title of his novel, he also makes use of the idea in the novel. Chapter 6 When in Doubt, It s from Shakespeare... A play that I am familiar with is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard. This play was a way for the writer to copy William Shakespeare s Hamlet play. There are many risk associated with CKD. According to the National Kidney Foundation, two of the major risks are Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) and Cardiovascular Disease. Injury to the glomerulus and the tubules presents the onset of Intra renal failure (Matzke, 2011). Some of the frequent causes for Intra renal failure are glomerulonephritis; pyelonephritis; and tubular injury. Post renal failure develops from things like ureteroliths, tumors, or anatomic impediments. Opposite of the acute form, the chronic form has a slow onset that has no early stage symptoms. It is important to know that following an acute episode a chronic renal episode often follows, and at this juncture the damage is irreversible. Glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis combined, has been reported to be the forerunner in as much as half the cases from acute to chronic renal failure. Diabetes mellitus, renal vascular disease, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, drug damage, and nephrolith are all examples of other causes of CKD (Pradeep, 2014). Biopsies of kidneys that suffered with CKD reveal smaller kidneys with scarring on the tubules. Causes of kidney disease are wide ranging in number; however diabetes, high blood pressure, inherited disease, and infection remain to be the contenders of cause (Davidson, 2011). Acute kidney disease can be identified by anuria and oedema. CKD is often called a silent killer, because instead of a sign, that would render immediate evidence, CKD only provides symptoms that many don t know to correlate to renal issues. • 27. Cell Cells And Its Effects On The Behavior And Adaptive... CD1 molecules are a family of highly conserved antigen presenting proteins that presents lipid antigens to T cells. The CD1 family comprises five members (CD1a e) in humans (Hong et al. 1999; Luoma et al. 2014). Of these molecules, CD1d has been the subject of much interest following the finding that the molecule is the only member conserved between mice and humans, though murine has two CD1d molecules, CD1d1 and CD1d2. CD1d molecule could be expressed by most hematopoietic cells, including dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages, immature and mature T cells and hepatocytes (Hong et al. 1999). Notably, CD1d could bind and present phospholipids and glycolipids to a specialized subset of T cells known as natural killer T cells (NKT) (Adams and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The loss of CD1d impairs NKT cell development in the thymus and yields an NKT cell deficient model. As a result, CD1d knockout mice have been extensively used in the NKT cell studies. For example, Kotas et al. reported that CD1d deficiency led to a mild exacerbation of steatosis during high fat or choline deficient feeding, accompanied by impaired hepatic glucose tolerance (Kotas et al. 2011). Martin Murphy et al. found that CD1d deficient mice were more susceptible to weight gain and fatty liver following high fat diet (HFD) feeding (Martin Murphy et al. 2014). Moreover, CD1d deficient mice have been reported to be more susceptible to a wide variety of viruses including herpes simplex viruses (Ashkar and Rosenthal 2003; Grubor Bauk et al. 2003), cytomegalovirus (Broxmeyer et al. 2007), diabetogenic encephalomyocarditis virus (Exley et al. 2001), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (Johnson et al. 2002). All of these evidence suggest that CD1d have important immunological functions. Unfortunately, mouse based discoveries have been difficult to translate to humans due to considerable differences in NKT cell frequencies, subsets, cytokine secretion profiles and tissue localization patterns between the two species (Bendelac et al. 2007; Van Kaer et al. 2011a). You would think it was because of his contributions to the war or lack thereof, but unfortunately he is associated more with his peculiar characteristics. Many of the characteristics are equivalent to those of basic people carrying out normal lives. The expectancy of loyalty and respect, indecisiveness, and not being capable of admitting faults, we all know someone with at least one of these traits, maybe even all of them. So why was it so unique in the case of Jefferson Davis? Although these were normal traits, the life that Davis lived was not. The struggle between Davis and his overpowering attributes not only had an effect on his relationships and friendships, but they also had an impact, not completely negative or positive, on the way he completed his job. Similarities Between Tattoos And Motion Pictures Tattoos versus Motion Picture Arguably what comes to mind when a person is intrigued by a tattoo, is curiosity behind the purpose of it, and most importantly the reasoning. Like a motion picture or short film, there has to be a story behind it, otherwise there would be confusion. Although tattoos and motion pictures both share many similarities in story lines, genres, and depth, they have a plethora of differences. Undoubtedly, these two concepts share story lines. Moreover, the process in development is very different. Tattoos have a story line that is commonly very sentimental, the meaning is real and deep, which is why an individual permanently places such kinds of expression on their skin. Although, not all tattoos are this way, some tattoos might not have any meaning and have been placed upon the skin for no logical reason. Tattoos have a very different development process, and often mean more to individuals than movies. Often times when someone is watching a preview to a new movie, their involvement falls deeper the more they find themselves fascinated by the story line. The story line is what draws them in, and the more it relates personally, or strikes their imagination on a pathway of fascination, the more likely they are to continue watching that genre of movie. Therefore, movies only come to an in mind standpoint, although it has a story line, the display is not nearly as permanent as a tattoo would be considered. It clarifies the research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of the remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter. We focus on the modelling of police reporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody knows, under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would actually dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule as to when those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it is not required or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or give people excuses to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat out refuse to take down the complaint. There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police report should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most accurate information possible to conduct a thorough investigation. No matter how much he feared the building sound, Ceniza forced himself out of the quiet hut out for at least one bucket of water, stretching out a metallic container in faith just until a terrifying roar emerged from beneath him, evolving into a louder resound as the ground below him shifted violently, throwing Ceniza off balance. ... His parents were still at work. Oh no, no, no. Examples Of Dystopian Society In The Truman Show The Prison Manufactured by a Dystopian Society Throughout the semester, many pieces of literature was introduced that presented the theme of dystopian societies suppressing their citizens. These pieces ranged from printed books describing fictional characters struggles, to a film fabricating a fictional, civil imprisonment of an ignorant man, and even real world examples of governmental control. All the authors were able to construct this idea of most commonly a government or some sort of controlling body that had total control over the protagonist, and was able to fool the rest of the people around the protagonist. In conclusion, because everyone is narcotized, they are not aware of the many, many wrong things occurring in The World State. This of course expedites to the introduction of the protagonist, Bernard Marx. Once Marx is fully cognitive about his situation, he immediately tries alarming others. No, the real problem is: How is it that I can t or rather because, after all, I know quite well why I can t what it would be like if I could, if I were free not enslaved by my conditioning, (Huxley 91). In addition to the always evident tripping on soma, all citizens of The World State are created in test tubes and conditioned as fetuses to become their pre destined social rank. Speculations have also been spread that Bernard s conditioning had altered him to be slightly mentally different from the rest, providing it even more difficult to make an effort to convince the rest of his society that they are being enslaved. While away on a trip to a Savage Reservation in New Mexico, Bernard tries to persuade Leina, a woman friend of Bernard s, to become conscious of her situation. Despite his clear efforts and intentions, Leina s conditioning was so strong that all she can do is repeat the words she was hypnopӕdically taught and ignore his words. To counter act Bernard s words, she offers him a condolence that Everyone is happy nowadays (Huxley 91). This angers Marx further and the argument persists, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I was a baby, my family moved from England to the United States, where I live now. Since I moved to Illinois, my family and I have traveled to many locations around the globe including Peru, Australia, Japan, India, the Galapagos Islands, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana. My most memorable trips were Japan and India, but for different reasons. When I traveled to Japan I learned about an entirely new culture and taste many new foods. Our visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was both disturbing and moving. My trip to India was memorable because it allowed me to experience international healthcare. In India, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis and spent eight days in an Indian hospital, which gave me a rare opportunity to experience first hand what less advanced healthcare was like. I have gained an expansive view of the international community through my travels. International travel has introduced me to multiple perspectives on life outside the United States. • 44. Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 Analysis William Shakespeare s Hamlet is an enduring revenge tragedy which reflects the philosophical values and concepts of the Renaissance era. The humanistic and existentialistic natures of man, as well as the process of scepticism have a significant impact on the ways one reacts to external factors. Shakespeare explores how one reacts to their context, encapsulating these philosophies throughout the play. Caught on the bridge between the Middle Ages and the enlightenment period, the Renaissance era opened up a wide array of philosophical values concerning the humanistic and existentialistic natures of man. At this point in history, man surpassed God at centre stage, with the newfound ability to reason and self determine. Linked to this is the existentialistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this philosophical scepticism which corrupts the mind of Hamlet, as he embarks on a journey to foil his uncle s betrayal through his antic disposition . This feigned madness is one of the central elements of the play, bringing about one of the most discussed questions; whether Hamlet was actually mad or not. His disposition is also linked to the recurring motif of surveillance, blurring the lines between appearance and reality. Hamlet s soliloquy in Act 2 Scene 2 acts as a catalyst for change, springing Hamlet into action as he formulates a surveillance scheme to discover the truth of King Claudius treachery. Through this, one can assert that while Hamlet captures the essence of madness, his deep thinking and speculation indicates that he is essentially only mad in craft . It is because of his scepticism that Hamlet meticulously utilises the metafictional play within a play to observe his[Claudius ] looks , and hence know my[his] course and kill Claudius. The fact that acting itself is putting on false appearances symbolises and further highlights the distortion of truth within this revenge tragedy full of dishonesty. Hamlet s introspective character is able to engage with the audience through his many soliloquies in which he reveals his suspicions and unadulterated thoughts. The structure of the play reflects ... • 45. How Is Heathcliff A Dynamic Character One of the strongest yet most broken types of people in this world are orphans, the ones who grew up without parents to teach the ways of the world to them. Very few are so lucky to find families of their own, and when they do, they are incredibly improved or perilously worse. In the case of Wuthering Heights, the unfortunate orphan is the character, Heathcliff. Growing up, he was treated with respect and care from his father, Mr. Earnshaw, like he was his own son, and later was treated like a close friend by his adoptive sister and love interest, Catherine. However, his adoptive brother, Hindley, was nothing but discourteous, derogatory, and ghastly towards him. Upon being bequeathed the mansion and the treasures from his father, Hindley immediately began to treat Heathcliff as nothing more than a gypsy and a stable boy; no respect, no care, and no love. Heathcliff s character style is very static. Regardless of being raised by a father who cared for him, he was always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their unapologetic and unabashed way of making fun of anything and everything is what has allowed the show to continue for so many seasons and also allow the viewer to draw their own conclusions. • 47. Persuasive Essay On Gun Laws Strict gun laws lead to more gun violence and crime in America. Guns are very dangerous and can be used for harmful reasons, but guns can also be good for America and can be used for protection and safety. These issues are very serious and can be detrimental which leads to the question, should our nation s gun laws be changed. Americans have been facing a major crisis for a while, guns. Gun related crimes have been plaguing America, especially most major cities. Chicago has the highest murder rate in America, but Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in America. The reason that so many people are getting killed in Chicago is because the law abiding citizens who would acquire guns for protection, have a hard time acquiring guns due to Chicago s laws, but the people who want to use guns for crimes are willing to go to extreme heights to get a gun. Guns will continue to be an issue in America if our current gun laws are not changed. Multiple political figures and citizens of America believe that the solution to America s gun issue is to make gun laws more lenient. People believe that if America increases the amount of guns accessible to the average citizen then America s streets will be safer, and there will be less gun violence. This fact is backed by Most political figures and citizens who want more guns in America, as they want them for one large reason, self defense.
