The Fame of Coco Chanel
In the roaring 1920 s, women were in corsets, that restricted many women to not eat nor breathe. That
s when Coco Chanel change everything for women, that made her career in the fashion industry go
through the roof. Before Coco became an icon in the fashion industry, she was put in an orphanage
ever since her dad had left her sister and her. Coco was then raised by nuns, which is where she was

Historical Accuracy In The Film Ned Kelly, Directed By...
Ned Kelly (2003), directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Heath Ledger (Ned Kelly) and Orlando
Bloom, is the film interpretation of the legendary story of the Kelly gang. As this is a film, not a
documentary, it is only moderately historically accurate. The three key events in this story in which
Jordan has attempted to maintain the truth to a reasonable extent are the incident with Constable
Fitzpatrick, the shooting of Aaron Sherritt and the Glenrowan shootout. However, there is also one
major aspect of the film where Jordan has not endeavoured to uphold historical accuracy, and that is
Ned Kelly s love life. As the very purpose of a feature film is to entertain an audience, there is only a
limited potential to which historical accuracy can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the police arrive, the outlaws put on their famous steel armour, and start shooting at the police.

injured Superintendent Hare, the commander of the police proceedings that night. The other members
of the gang withdraw to the hotel where they are shot dead by police. Ned returns to Glenrowan at
dawn and is quickly brought down, but not killed, with shots to his unprotected legs. In the film,
however, it is made to look as though the Kelly gang bring down many officers in the fight for their
cause and also that Dan and Steve kill themselves before the police can get to them. This event is

Who Is Dexter Green
Dexter Green:
Dexter Green is our main character throughout the story. Dexter is born in Keeble, a Minnesota
village, but he later moves to Black Bear village, which is located 50 miles further north. He is the son
of Black Bear village s second best grocer and a Bohemian mother. Growing up in a middle class
family, Dexter also works as a caddie in Sherry Island Golf Club, but unlike many of the caddies he
has a reasonable life and is not poor like many of them. Dexter appears like an ambitious boy from the
beginning, and with a work ethic beyond the usual for a 14 year old boy. One of his main goals in life
is to advance and make a lot of money, which will elevate him up from the middle class that he has
grown up in: He wanted not association ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He aspires towards social advancement and a life of wealth and success. In the first chapter of the
short story, Dexter s winter dreams are filled with high expectations associated with an upper class
life. A hundred times, he replays an imagination of a summer at Sherry Islands in which he beats Mr.
T. A. Hedrick in a marvellous golf match. Untiringly, he changes the details of the matches.
Sometimes he would win with laughable ease and sometimes he came up magnificently from behind.
His dreams of succeeding would lead to him being honoured by an admiring crowd. He would by then
have achieved an adequate status amongst the wealthiest of patronisers at the Sherry Island Golf Club
. The dreams and aspirations towards success and prosperity make him quit his job already at the age
of fourteen: I don t want to caddy any more.. I m too old, (page 1). He then hands in his A class badge

his winter dreams and is willing to sacrifice in order to achieve them: ... Dexter was unconsciously

happened to be concerned at first with musings on the rich... (page 2). Later, his real intention and
underlying American dream would turn out to take shape in a relationship with Judy Jones rather than
succeeding in business. It is no secret that by the end of the short story, Dexter and Judy Jones are
neither married nor engaging in a relationship. His real American dream is lost. This very sequence
and future of Dexter s American dream is already revealed within the second paragraph of the short
story. The second paragraph deals

The Environmental Disasters Of The World And Living Things...
What is Missing?
Pollution has plagued the world and living things within it since the industrial revolution and the
development of new technology. While some people might know the effects of the environmental
disasters that have occurred through the years, other do not. Maya Lin created a collaborative
memorial to try to gear people s attention to the problems being faced in the environment. The
collaborative memorial can easily be accessed by anyone who has a computer and internet access. For
example, the BP oil spill affected a great number of living things and marine animals, due to a human
error and the failure to clear up the problem efficiently. Another example is the Flint Water Crisis that
caused innocent children to become deathly sick due to the lack of necessary chemicals. Another
example about pollution is the Great Smog of 1952, which occurred in London, the smog lasted for
five days and killed about 4,000 people. Most of the people that were affected by the smog were
children, the elderly, and people with respiratory problems. The memorial is meant to shine light on
the living things that are going extinct around us and how we as humans have contributed to their
extinction. Its purpose is to evoke empathy, better understanding, guilt, sorrow, and even rage. By
creating the memorial, everyone s eyes can be open to the negative effects that our pollution has
caused the world. The memorial also provides ways people can make a difference in the world where

The Creation Myths Of Mayan And Shintoism
Creation myths tell a variety of different stories about how the world began and how people came first
to inhabit it. Mayan and Shintoism are two well known primal religions that describe many creation
myths throughout the years. The creation myths in both of these primal religions show how the world
and people formed. Though the creation myths of the Mayan and Shintoism people are from parts
around the world, they are very different in their essential elements.
The creation of Mayans was very simple to be honest. One of their creation myth stories talks about
how the world began from the makers of the sea and sky. At first, there is just the sky. All alone and
nothing else exists but the sea under it. Furthermore, there is no living ... Show more content on

A reed was formed from the Earth becoming the god Kuni toko tachi no Mikoto. Furthermore, more
gods were evolved which had both female and male. Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto were
the important ones here. They talked about how the earth was lacking things. They through their
heavenly spear to create an ocean. After this, they created islands and the islands had deities which
created rivers and mountains.
The human condition is somewhat being explained here in these myths. For the Mayans, the human
condition is showed by forming a person to take care of the habitats and animals. Furthermore, a
person was built in order to interact with its environment and form more life. The idea of Salvation is
shown through Shintoism very clearly. In addition, when gods were in danger, there main gods were
there to help them. You were protected by your ancestors. These two myths also reveal some features
about the Mayan and Shintoism cultures. For the Mayan, it shows that they think about their natural
environment in a certain way. Furthermore, they interact with nature in a certain way, and they engage
in rituals that offer respect to the forces of nature.
Both of these myths overall do have many similarities and differences. One of the main differences is
that the world of Mayans were created from the sky and sea. However, the world of Shinto was
created from deities. In Shintoism, every aspect of nature was

Bach Vs Handel Essay
I ask you this: What would are world be like if everyone looked the same, acted the same, and even
had the same interests? It would be a gray place full of nothing but dull blobs that were once people.
Now you see why being different is not only good but important in our society. Even people of the
same talent can have a vast chasm of contradictions between them. Of course, that is why I am here.
To tell you of two great composers, Johannes Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, and the
lives they led. They both had a taste for music, yet their preferences lay in different styles. They were
raised in good families, but their parents did not have the same visions for their sons. They both had
spirit, but opposite spirits in many ways. Even these two, who are close in what they do and who they
are, have their distinctions. Yet they also have many similarities because they lived in the same time
and were both well known for their careers. To begin with, they were born into somewhat wealthy
families. Bach was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are both exceptional composers. Filled with the ability to take a few sounds and string it together
in a grand chorus. Bach was more technical in his music. He loved order, and it showed through his
work. Handel was all about freedom and passion. He made his music swirl through the air like a
whirlwind: light and unrestrained. In conclusion, there is interest and boredom. There is gravity and
levity. There is wonder and amusement. And there is power. Handel and Bach. Bach and Handel.
When you think of these two in the same light, you can plainly see that great chasm of contradictions
spanning the void between them. However, you can also see a bridge settled over the huge expanse.
The bridge connects the two and portrays the middle ground. The treaty. The agreement. The oath to
be taken by those who love music. They are different, yet alike in many

Clear Explainations of Visual Graphical Data in The Visual...
There are so many books written by well known professors and writers that are filled with information
about many things we do not know. I choose to read The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
by Edward Tufte because I found it really interesting. The first factor that makes me want to read this
book was the history behind writing this book. The writer stated in introduction part that the primary
focus of the book was to teach statistics of few journalists who were interested in learning Economic
concepts in the year of 1975 A.D which gave me a general idea that the book was written for novices,
which means that the information provided will be clear, understandable and it will contain a lots of
examples to make it clear. Being a finance major, I had and will have situations where I have to use
visual display of data many times, but I never got to go back and check the history how they were
originated, how the use of them transformed during the era of time and how the development of the
visual display has impacted in the modern business world. This book provided me a chance, which no
other books I have read, to see the significance of visual data, which was mostly introduced and
developed from 1750 1800.
The book was also really helpful in clarifying the terms and applications we studied in the classroom.

Invisible Workers In The Simpsons
America has had large expanses in technology: from the invention of the iPhone, which revolutionized
how the cell phone was viewed and used, to websites like eBay and Amazon that are able to give
quick easy access to whatever item that person so desires on that given day. But when an individual is
purchasing an iPhone 5 or using one of these shopping websites, they rarely think about the person
who work to build those iPhones or ship out those items. These Invisible Workers , those who work
behind the scenes, rarely get the credit or the respect they deserve and are often mistreated and abused
because of it. Because of society s natural desire to consume, businesses have the ability to treat any

Because of the fear to unionize or the fear of fighting back at all, the continued cycle of abuse does
tend to continue due to inaction. But does this solely lie on the backs of the workers? In the case of
overseas workers, they work hours on end in horrid conditions, their children sometimes working
alongside them in order to even come close to making ends meet and it comes short even then.
Anything they do can risk their job and any tiny mistake ruining the rest of their lives in this oppressed
environment. So yes, out of fear workers do not tend to fight back but this out of necessity to protect
their families from losing what in most cases is their only source of income. In the case of American
society, the workers are hidden behind technology where consumers automatically assume everything
is done by computers . Though American workers are treated better, they still have to contend with
being replaced by machines and worry about companies taking their jobs away. While it can be said
that this is due to the advancement of technology, there is no compensation whatsoever for the worker
when he or she is inevitably replaced. They are forced out, without any regard for their families or

It s a bird, it s a plane, no its Superman! You remember these comic book heroes don t you? For
decades comic book characters such as Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have
captured the imaginations of American children and adults alike. Superheroes they have been coined.
But these figures only exist in our imaginations. Batman is not really there to save us from villains
such as the Joker and the Riddler is he? Because these heroes are fictional, we are left without real life
heroes, or are we? There must be heroes or there would never b e a peaceful night s rest, we would be

When you remember these things you notice all the love behind them. They protected you from the
horrors in the world as a child, didn t want to take away the innocence by letting you know that not

for you that when you stop and take a look, you can see that they were your heroes from the very
beginning.
Ever been driving down the road, possibly with a child in the backseat, and all of a sudden the wail of
a siren blast through the air and you pull off the road? Within seconds you see flashing lights and a
police car or fire truck speeds past you and, without thinking about it, you just witnessed heroes in
action. That child in the backseat will probably never forget the event. The first time many teachers or
parents hear a child say, I want to be a policeman/firefighter when I grow up, it s because this child
has seen policemen and firefighters in action. In a child s eyes, policemen catch the bad guys and
make the street safe and firefighters put out monstrous fires with their cool hoses and save people
from burning buildings. Children see all of these works as cool and awesome and grow up to be part
of this group of brave people who put their lives on

The Importance Of Segregation In Public School
In 1948, a black American, George McLaurin, was accepted to the University of Oklahoma but treated
with much disrespect. He sat in a desk roped off from the others in class, he ate lunch by himself, and
he studied in a separate library. This is just one of the many things that occurred during the time of
separate but equal . Due to the poor conditions in black schools under separate but equal , the main
argument of the NAACP attorneys cases was to end segregation in schools, leading to the Brown v.

The Challenges Of Black Hat Hacking

The first reason is the thrill and challenges of it. They found that the overcoming challenges and
obstacles are full of excitement when knowing they are doing something forbidden. According to
Kelvin Beaver, the bad guys think bad thoughts, use good tools, and develop new methods (Kevin,
2013). So, every hacking attempt is a new challenges for them. The second reason is hacking for
personal gain. Some of the hacker attempt to hack to get the credit card number, password of user

sometimes smaller companies are targeted as well. The third reason, is prestige. Some hackers make
attempt for their own personal gratification, they will proudly bragging right in their social circle

anything on your computer or system without your permission. The fourth reason is for revenge.
Sometimes they hack to steal and destroy data because they have a personal revenge toward that

Corruption In Jamacia Kincaid s A Small Place
Jamacia Kincaid s A Small Place is most certainly a postcolonial text she illustrates the problems and
consequences of the decolonization of Antigua, especially questions to the political and cultural
independence of formerly subjugated people. Kincaid positions the reader into a bevy of different
angles; in the first section Kincaid describes the natural beauty of the island as a hypothetical tourist.
As a reader we are being isolated from the harsher realities of the people that live there. The
information given is facts only a native would know, for example the reason why the majority of the
cars on the island are poorly run. In Kincaid s guided tour are her views about the mansions on the

As an example, she takes the state of the library, awaiting repairs after all these years and forced to
reside in temporary quarters above a dry goods store. Kincaid has fond, if ambivalent, feelings toward
the old library, which was a haven of beauty and an escape into reading for her as a child. She recalls
the imperious ways of the head librarian (who suspected Kincaid, rightly, of stealing books), who is
now sadly reduced to campaigning, mostly unsuccessfully, for funds to build a new library, while the
collection decomposes in cardboard boxes. The rich members of the Mill Reef Club have the funds to
help, but will do so only if the old library is rebuilt a demand that Kincaid sees as having more to do
with nostalgia for the colonial regime than with a true desire to help. Kincaid mentions the ironies
involved in Antigua having a Minister of Culture without having a culture to administer. She also
mentions her politically active mother s run in with the current Minister of Culture, who has allowed
the library to languish. Education has clearly suffered on Antigua in the years since independence, and
Kincaid ruefully notes the poor speech habits of the younger

Forrest Thomson Poetic Artifice Analysis
Two Co Option Co option is I argue most clearly defined by Veronica Forrest Thomson s Poetic
Artifice. A text, that pushed back against critics of the previous generation and endeavoured early on
to integrate structuralist thought with post structuralist. This integration between structuralism and
post structuralism can be seen as an attempt to get at the importance of poetry. In an attempt to stress
and illuminate poetry s unique ability to be transformative of both language and the world. Forrest
Thomson in Poetic Artifice demands an intense focus on all the rhythmic, phonetic, verbal and logical
devices which makes poetry different from prose to best consider this transformative nature. It is in
this distinguishing of poetry from prose, and the highly formalist manner and structuralist distrust of
language s transparency in which she follows that one can also see a similar differencing between the
broader spectrum of literature with the sciences. There is no need in Forrest Thomson s work for
differing areas to be inclusive of one another, to the point of loss of individuality, because of a
homogenizing of methodology and epistemic reasoning. Throughout both Poetic Artifice and her
thesis Poetry as Knowledge: The Use of Science by Twentieth Century Poets, Forest Thomson can be
seen to put forward a new structure, in which separation is crucial for any kind of interrelation
between the two fields of knowledge. She follows a similar stance as that of Kelly

Sound devices in A High Toned christian Woman
The poem A High Toned christian Woman by Stevens Wallace is a famous poem written in the defense
of poetry, with a very whimsical tone. The poem is speaking to an old christian woman, who does not
believe that poetry has any worth or significance. The poet argues that poetry is art at its finest, and
can be used to express the morals of anything, even religion.
Two significant sound devices in the poem are onomatopoeia and alliteration. The poet uses both of
these devices throughout the poem, yet there is one line in which both the devices are used together;
Such tink and tank and tunk a tunk tunk, . This is the 18th line in the poem and it contributes to the
playful tone of the poem. The tunk a tunk tunk is meant to be the sound of metal hitting different
items. Here the poet mocks the old Christian woman confronting her about the naive, dysfunctional,
and boozy people present in the Christian faith. By adding an onomatopoeia device the poet achieves
the playful tone intended. As the author is mocking the religion, this devices helps create a fun and
sarcastic tone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Biological Basis Toward Sexual Orientation
The world has come very far with all the dramatic changes we have faced over the years. Wouldn t
you agree? As much change as the world has been through there are still numerous social problems
that still exist in society today. Amongst those numerous social problems, sexual orientation and
inequality stand out to me. Research from biology, psychology, and sociology is where our
understanding of sexual orientation comes from. There are two hypothetical theories researchers have
discovered examining the biological basis toward sexual orientation. One concept is the
neurohormonal theory, biologist contend that homosexuality is caused by abnormal sex hormone
levels in utero. The alternative theory is based on behavioral genetics, determining the source and
magnitude of genetic impact on sexual orientation. This theory suggested the concept that gay men
were genetically female. Later this theory was proven to be false. Homosexuality was considered as a
pathology or mental illness. Not every psychologists agreed with that perspective. A researcher by the
name of Havelock Ellis stated that homosexuality was congenital and for that reason it could not be
considered as a disease. Sigmund Freud another theorist had the concept that everyone is born
bisexual and that either homosexuality or heterosexuality is developed through social and personal
experience. Ellis and Freud both concurred that homosexuality was not a mental illness. Despite these
researchers opinions in 1973,

Static IP address is an IP address that is permanent to a specific host for a certain amount of time. This
IP address is assigned by the ISP out of a specific designated block of IP addresses and manually
entered into the computer. While primarily IP addresses are sent to the host by the DHCP now, certain
people prefer static IP.
Static IP is also used for the URL or uniform resource locator to give a website a permanent residence
on the internet. This keeps the website from bouncing around from leased IP s that a DHCP would
give. This type of network would also be good for VPN s and remote access. To quote Lifewire:
(Fisher, 2017) Because a static IP address never changes, other devices always know exactly how to

concepts. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012) One in 88 children are diagnosed with
autism and the symptoms are usually noticed between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. Typically,
autism affects individuals in 5 key areas: Communication (verbal and non verbal), Social skills,
Behaviors, Learning, and Medical issues. Because this disorder has a dramatic impact on a child s
ability to learn, it is imperative that teachers understand the conditions surrounding autism and know
how to accommodate these students. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012) Teachers can
understand more about a student with ASD and how to accommodate the student by doing different
assessments. Assessments are an extremely important part of special education. Teachers need to make
sure that the assessments given to their students is correct in everyway possible. It should be correct in
what they are testing, meaning what the teacher or specialist want to know from the assessment, is the
information that the assessment is giving the students correct, on how the assessment works, and all
assessments must have validity and reliability. Assessments often include various tests, both
standardized or criterion referenced, but testing is not the only

A Blended Future Of Technology

A Blended Future Technology in education is not a new concept, especially at the college level.
Universities are encouraged to offer online courses, or as freelance journalist Chrissie Long and many
other experts call them, MOOCs (massive online open courses), to reach out to more students and
provide them with a more convenient style of learning (455). While MOOCs certainly have their
strengths, how far should universities go? What is the future of online education? Should colleges of
the future only offer online courses, or should face to face classes still be the primary form of
education? Blended courses, though not without faults of their own, can combine the best elements of

Because the lectures are outside of class, there is more time for discussion and clarification. The
lectures in strictly face to face courses are presented in class, so there is not usually enough time for in
depth discussions. MOOCs are entirely online, so there is no meeting for discussion. Blended courses
do meet and have time for discussions, but there are some drawbacks as well. For example, if a
student has a question that he or she cannot find the answer to, the student will have to wait until the
next in class meeting or email the professor to get the answer. In face to face classes, the student could
ask the professor immediately, but a student in a blended course would still be able to eventually ask
the professor in person, which is an advantage over a MOOC. Even though face to face classes have
more access to professors, and MOOCs do not require the student to come to campus, blended courses
remain beneficial to students because they provide more time for discussions and clarification than
other types of classes. Aside from more in class discussion, blended courses also allow students to set
their own paces. In an article for U.S. News World Report, author Jordan Friedman mentioned a 2011
Kaplan Inc. research review that said blended learning programs can potentially offer more
personalized, student focused and flexible forms

Such concerns have generally involved the infiltration of a computer system for purposes of degrading
its capabilities, manipulating data, or using the device to launch cyber attacks on other systems. The
Stuxnet worm, 3 which was first reported in June 2010 by a security firm in Belarus, appears to be the
first malicious software (malware) designed specifically to attack a particular type of ICS: one that
controls nuclear plants, whether for power or uranium enrichment. The malware attacks and disrupts a
Microsoft Windows based application that is employed by a particular ICS produced by the German
company Siemens. 4 The worm can be spread through an air gapped network by a removable device,
such as a thumb drive, and possibly through computers connected to the Internet, and it is often
capable of remaining hidden from detection. It is difficult to determine the geographic origin of the
malware, as cyber attackers often employ

Fragmentation Of The California Red Legged Frog
Peter Eskander

Fragmentation of the California Red legged Frog Environment. The issue I will be raising is one that
might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the
fragmentation and overall mutilation of areas that keep and protect the species Rana Draytonii,
otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because
most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364
(Patrick McGreevy.). An even greater reason to discuss this dilemma is because they are limited in
their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied
approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to
highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more
significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently
listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings,
projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation in
areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along
southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey).
The California red legged frog has an intrinsic link to

The Works Of Kazimir Malevich
Kazimir Malevich was born in 1878, in Kiev, Ukraine. His family was a part of the industrial
proletariat, his father a worker in sugar refineries. Malevich began painting during his time in Kiev,
where he developed an idealized view of peasant life.
In 1896, Malevich s family moved from Kiev to Kursk, Russia, where he began to paint in a post
impressionist manner. Malevich eventually settled in Moscow, in 1906. There he saw the works of
French impressionists Seurat and Cézanne. He began to exhibit with Russian avant garde Primitivists,
in 1910. From 1912 to 1915, he joined the Russian Futurist group. During this time he experimented
with connecting his Futurist paintings together, through the use of a theoretical language.

Despite the tubular nature of these forms and the uniform coloring, this painting is still
representational. It depicts humans in a worldly environment. It also speaks to Malevich s idealization
of the lives of peasants and farmers. These figures are not even working with tools but the harvest
seems to be easy. By only using their hands, they are able to split up and separate their produce, with
little resistance. The only figure with a visible facial expression, the woman with a white blouse and
red skirt, even seems to even be smiling. This work is extremely personal, as it depicts what Malevich
fantasized what the life of these people might be like.
During World War I, Malevich designed Russian propaganda posters, in the style of traditional colored
engravings with captions. However, in his personal work, he continued working with geometric
abstraction.
Suprematist Painting, created in 1917 1918, consists of a yellow shape on a white background. This

This transition from deep to light is emphasized by the diagonal nature of the shape. The lines that
make up the shape are in all different angles and these diagonals emphasize the aforementioned
difference by further leading eyes across the canvas.

Narrative Voice In The Turn Of The Screw By Henry James
A simple fact of literature is that a story simply cannot be told without the presence of a nar rator. This
textual voice literally narrates the story and therefore wields the power to influ ence it in many ways.
Sometimes, it is not what the narrator reveals that is important, but what is left out. Writers can use the
different aspects of narration to make their point more efficiently and it is therefore an obvious focus
point when it comes to interpreting a text. Henry James The Turn of the Screw has for several reasons
been in literary critics spotlight and this essay focuses on the changes in narrative voice taking place in
the introduction along with the first three chapters of the story with some final comments on their

We get no comments from the original narrative voice whatsoever and the story being told is left
solely to the reader to interpret since the whole novella ends inside the frame of the creepy story being
told. This leaves many questions unanswered and is unor dinary for any novella at the very least. The
unsettling events of the tale, however, ask the obvious question of whether the reader can truly trust
the woman s letters as factual. Perhaps, she was merely imagining everything. The possibility of an
unstable mind cannot be left out and this damages her credibility as a narrator. In addition, since the
transcript of the story has travelled through several hands, it can have been altered. This seems
unlikely, though, since the transcript surely would have been affected by Douglas knowledge of both
prior and sub sequent events that would have given the story an almost omniscient narrator which it
far from has. It faithfully remains restricted to the governess point of view. She, however, tells the
events as she recalls them, not as they occur, and even though the original first person narrator seems
to know the manuscript s recipient, we actually do not know whether we can trust him either. Really,
the novella as a whole taunts the reader with uncertainness in both the story s events but also truly

Kwanzaa Book Review
Saint (1997) wrote a book to introduce children to the significance of the African American holiday of
Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a non religious cultural holiday based upon the ancient customs of Africa. The
holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and is the first original African American
holiday dedicated to African culture and spirituality (Saint, 1997). Additionally, the holiday is a time
where African Americans honor the traditions of their African ancestors. According to Walter (1996),
Dr. Karenga created the holiday based on the harvest festivals of several African cultures. Harvest
celebrations were traditional throughout Africa and were a time where people gave thanks for the first
fruits of their harvest (Walter, 1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Saint (1997) used visual imagery to convey a message and assist the reader in
consciously and unconsciously relating the certain colors used in the book to the principles of
Kwanzaa and thus, later fostering a sense of pride whenever the colors are seen. For example, Saint
(1997) used the colors red, black, and green throughout the book to help children identify these colors
as symbols of the Holiday. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically
relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling
principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa
as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of
the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture.
This in turn, provided the child with a visual representation to identify with the written explanation.
Additionally, Saint (1997) used phonetic spelling in addition to the standard spelling in order to help
the reader pronounce the African principles correctly. Overall, Saint (1997) did an excellent job of not
only introducing African American children to their African culture, but also attempting to instill a
sense of cultural pride and

The Battle of Britain is regarded as the most famous military engagement of World War II. The fall of
France in June 1940 to Nazi Germany not only left Britain as the only European power working
actively against the Germans but also left them vulnerable to bombing campaigns launched from
Northern France, having only to travel twenty five miles across the English Channel to reach targets in
south east England1. The quick surrender of France allowed German forces to direct their attention
towards Britain. Although Hitler had publicly stated a desire to negotiate peace terms with Britain,
preparations had been made for an amphibious invasion of the British Isles, codenamed Operation

The Battle of Britain marked a major turning point in the war, akin to the Battle of Moscow in the
east, as it was the first time the German advance had been stopped. Had Britain fallen to the Third
Reich during the summer of 1940, the repercussions would have been enormous. Hitler would have
completed his conquest of Europe; there would have been no possibility of an invasion on the beaches
of Normandy, enabling Hitler to dedicate more resources for Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the
Soviet Union. The invention of radar, known as Radio Direction Finding (RDF) at the time, by the
Department of Scientific and Industrial research in 1934 initially allowed aircraft to be detected at a
distance of thirty eight miles. By 1937, improvements to RDF had enabled it to see aircraft at a range
of one hundred miles, complete with the bearing of enemy aircraft4. The British recognized the
potential of RDF to be used simultaneously with other electronic and communication aids to provide
an early detecting system. The development of an early warning system was essential to the British
war effort due to the length of the coastline being so close to enemy occupied territory, with important
commercial, industrial and military centres well within the range of enemy aircraft5. An early warning
system also had two distinct advantages over traditional aircraft patrolling of the British coastline. It

previous associations of the Philippines with other countries in Asia and the Middle East. As a result,
business was only conducted with Spain through Mexico. Because of this, the small businesses and
handicraft industries that flourished during the pre Spanish period gradually disappeared. Second,
Spain also extinguished the natives love of work because of the implementation of forced labor.
Because of the wars between Spain and other countries in Europe as well as the Muslims in
Mindanao, the Filipinos were compelled to work in shipyards, roads, and other public works,
abandoning agriculture, industry, and commerce. Third, Spain did not protect the people against
foreign invaders and pirates. With no arms to defend themselves, the natives were killed, their houses
burned, and their lands destroyed. As a result of this, the Filipinos were forced to become nomads, lost
interest in cultivating their lands or in rebuilding the industries that were shut down, and simply
became submissive to the mercy of God. Fourth, there was a crooked system of education, if it was to

Luck Egalitarianism Summary
In reaction to gross and compounding economic disparities in the international sphere, cosmopolitan
philosophers like Moellendorf have addressed the international state, claiming that the degree of
inequality is unjustifiable. Moellendorf operates with a Rawlsian understanding of ethical relations,
but expands this notion from the domestic sense into the international sense, claiming that the degree
of globalization is sufficient such that it creates an association in which the interdependence is
sufficiently strong, largely non voluntary and constitutive of a significant part of the background rules
that govern members lives, forming the basis of duties for distributive justice. From this understanding
for the need for global distributive justice, Moellendorf claims that the main strategy to address this
inequality is through a global progressive tax. Moellendorf s conception, however, overstates the
degree to which globalization has created international cohesiveness. Though a progressive tax would
certainly address global inequality, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of distrust in states recently liberated from former colonial states. In response to this distrust, Wenar
proposes a system of popular resource sovereignty, in which the value derived from a nation s

Her father was a painter named Orazio Gentileschi, who taught her how to draw and paint. Influenced
by Caravaggio s work, Gentileschi also used chiaroscuro in her work and created beautifully dramatic

Caravaggio, she also was able to depict a moment of elevated drama in her work and was totally
capable of emphasizing it. In the time that she lived, women generally were not painters; very few
women even attempted it, but Gentileschi was the first woman to actually become a member of the
prestigious Accademia di Arte Disegno in Florence, Italy and to paint important historical and
religious paintings that were actually

Both Gentileschi and Caravaggio painted unconventional religious subjects; two paintings of similar
themes are Caravaggio s David with the

transportation. Many teens are interested in being able to drive at a younger age, even after obtaining a
driving permit, but it is unclear if they are able to handle such a monumental task. The driver s license
age requirement should be increased to the age of 18. Increasing the age requirement might not benefit
the teens that need reliable transportation to go to their workplace and support their family and
themselves financially, but some argue that earning income at such a young age is too much trouble
for an individual. The State of Virginia should raise the driving age to 18 because teenagers are
irresponsible and need more time to practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to TIME magazine, there have been cases where teenagers have caused traffic accidents
due to having road rage. This shows how teenagers have little control over their emotions while
driving which could cause accidents or lead to someone s death. In Fairfax High School, there are
many students who would fall asleep in class because they go to bed very late at night. This states how
students cannot manage their time wisely that can lead to their academic failure. In a recent poll by
Washington Post, 15% of teens are arrested for drinking and driving after partying at a friend s house.
This shows how teens are immature behind the wheel and don t consider about the safety of
themselves and the others around them when doing foolish acts. Obviously, the State of Virginia must
change the driving age to 18 because teenagers lack the make proper decisions behind the

Analysis of Dance Styles
For centuries peoples have been dancing as an art form that allows them to physically express
themselves without using words. These are times when simple dignity of movement can fulfill the
function of a volume of words (Humphrey, 1937). A great deal can be understood when a person
watches a person dances. The message that is related is strong and clear. When you understand the
types of dance the message is clear. I will attempt to examine the different forms of dance. We will
look at the forms of dance like Ballet, Modern World/Ritual, Folk, and jazz. Never the less it helps
construct a better understanding of the different forms.

The women in these tribes like the Ga Adongme people (Alokli Dance Repertoire , 2001). These
women are unique when they dance they represent grace and puberty of a female. The dancers form a
line and begin to dance as they enter the stage from both sides forming a single line stepping and
clapping to the beat of the drums. In addition as they step to the music they step in rhythm and clap,
gesture to convey the message to the audience. For centuries cultures have danced in many forms to
symbolize a prayer for rain or fertility. These dances are ritual dances. Sampi is a ritual dance done in
Belize the symbolize fertility by jumping instead of flat footed dance. With any ritual they all begin as
one person speaks to the audience and dedicates the ceremony thus many follows after that
(Zimmerns, 2010). Although these dances are known as a ritual many people in Belize participate in
hopes to create and bless the families and others with great fertility and the healthy birth of a child
with any family. There is no known evidence that proves that these types of rituals work but people
continue to partake in the rituals.
Folk Dance For centuries folk dancing has been around since the beginning of time. Natural
spontaneous behavior and festive occasions have been sources of song, music, and dance since time
immemorial (Smith, 2010). Performing a line or circle and singing to provide their own level of
entertainment that stretches as far back as the

The Devil And Tom Walker Analysis
Online text View summary In the story The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving, a man
named Tom Walker and his wife made rash decisions based on their personal greed. Tom Walker
stumbled across the devil while taking a short cut home one day. The devil tried to make a trade with
Tom which consisted of trading Tom s soul for Captain Kidd s loot. Tom turned down the deal in spite
of his greedy wife. This frustrated her so much to the point where she went out to make a deal with the
devil herself. After going missing for several days Tom decided to go out and find his wife and most
of his possessions that she took with her. He found only her liver and heart tied up in a tree indicating
that she was dead. Tom took this opportunity to make the deal with the devil and keep all of the
treasure for himself instead of sharing with his wife. Tom agreed to become a usurer. Later he realizes
the consequence of his selfish actions and start to carry around a bible wherever he goes and increases
his attendance in church. The story comes to an end when Tom is taken by the devil on horseback and
never to be seen again. what happens to Tom after that night is up to the imagination of the reader.
Reading the story The Devil and Tom Walker was a pleasurable reading experience for me.
Washington Irving had a unique and intriguing writing style that was able to describe characters
through effective narrative unlike any other story I have ever read. His use of imagery made it easy to

Japanese Imperial Expansion
The Japanese imperial expansion was a major cause of the battle in Singapore. In 1940, Japan allied
itself with the Axis powers and by 1941, Japan had effectively been engaged in a 10 year campaign of
expansion in East Asia in the quest for much needed resources, especially oil. Before expanding
further into South East Asia, Japan wanted to remove the threat of the US Navy based at Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii. This surprise attack was the beginning of war in the Pacific on the 7th of December 1941. In
just two bombings the Japanese had accomplished the sinking or damaging of 21 American ships,
destroyed 188 aircraft and damaged 159, killed nearly 2400 American military personnel and
wounded over 1000 people (including civilians). This surprise attack caused the fall of signore attack,
uniting America to work for the Allied military victory, as until this attack they were divided over the
question of involvement in the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this time the Japanese had begun their attack on Singapore, the island at the southern end of the
Malay Peninsula and the home of Britain s navy in Asia. The Japanese attack on Singapore began on
8th February and within six days had reached Singapore city. Japanese soldiers made their way
through the Malay jungle towards Singapore, with Japanese aircraft bombing Singapore s key sites, at
the same time. The British army was convinced the Japanese assault would come from the sea, to the
south of the island and had fortified its coastal defenses accordingly. It was a fatal miscalculation. On
the 8th forces streamed into Singapore across the narrow straights of Jahore, on the island s north
west. The British troops were unable to reach the beaches in time to stop the Japanese and the
Australian defenders were spread to thinly and were quickly forced back by wave after wave of
Japanese invaders. The Australians suffered many long and short term consequences of the fall of
Singapore. The Japanese attacks surprised and demoralized the

Space s Perception Of Space
Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of
objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established
as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality.
Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an
object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the
sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple
occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the
table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an
individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case,
then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of
space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have
sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the
perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception
of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though
one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39

Ned Kelly (2003), directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Heath Ledger (Ned Kelly) and Orlando Bloom, is the film interpretation of the legendary story of the Kelly gang. As this is a film, not a documentary, it is only moderately historically accurate. The three key events in this story in which Jordan has attempted to maintain the truth to a reasonable extent are the incident with Constable Fitzpatrick, the shooting of Aaron Sherritt and the Glenrowan shootout. However, there is also one major aspect of the film where Jordan has not endeavoured to uphold historical accuracy, and that is Ned Kelly s love life. Dexter is born in Keeble, a Minnesota village, but he later moves to Black Bear village, which is located 50 miles further north. He is the son of Black Bear village s second best grocer and a Bohemian mother. Growing up in a middle class family, Dexter also works as a caddie in Sherry Island Golf Club, but unlike many of the caddies he has a reasonable life and is not poor like many of them. Dexter appears like an ambitious boy from the beginning, and with a work ethic beyond the usual for a 14 year old boy. Sometimes he would win with laughable ease and sometimes he came up magnificently from behind. His dreams of succeeding would lead to him being honoured by an admiring crowd. • 7. The Environmental Disasters Of The World And Living Things... What is Missing? Pollution has plagued the world and living things within it since the industrial revolution and the development of new technology. While some people might know the effects of the environmental disasters that have occurred through the years, other do not. Maya Lin created a collaborative memorial to try to gear people s attention to the problems being faced in the environment. The collaborative memorial can easily be accessed by anyone who has a computer and internet access. For example, the BP oil spill affected a great number of living things and marine animals, due to a human error and the failure to clear up the problem efficiently. Another example is the Flint Water Crisis that caused innocent children to become deathly sick due to the lack of necessary chemicals. Another example about pollution is the Great Smog of 1952, which occurred in London, the smog lasted for five days and killed about 4,000 people. Most of the people that were affected by the smog were children, the elderly, and people with respiratory problems. The memorial is meant to shine light on the living things that are going extinct around us and how we as humans have contributed to their extinction. Its purpose is to evoke empathy, better understanding, guilt, sorrow, and even rage. By creating the memorial, everyone s eyes can be open to the negative effects that our pollution has caused the world. The memorial also provides ways people can make a difference in the world where living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The creation myths in both of these primal religions show how the world and people formed. Though the creation myths of the Mayan and Shintoism people are from parts around the world, they are very different in their essential elements. The creation of Mayans was very simple to be honest. It would be a gray place full of nothing but dull blobs that were once people. Now you see why being different is not only good but important in our society. Even people of the same talent can have a vast chasm of contradictions between them. Of course, that is why I am here. To tell you of two great composers, Johannes Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, and the lives they led. They both had a taste for music, yet their preferences lay in different styles. They were raised in good families, but their parents did not have the same visions for their sons. They both had spirit, but opposite spirits in many ways. There are so many books written by well known professors and writers that are filled with information about many things we do not know. I choose to read The Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Edward Tufte because I found it really interesting. The first factor that makes me want to read this book was the history behind writing this book. The writer stated in introduction part that the primary focus of the book was to teach statistics of few journalists who were interested in learning Economic concepts in the year of 1975 A.D which gave me a general idea that the book was written for novices, which means that the information provided will be clear, understandable and it will contain a lots of examples to make it clear. Being a finance major, I had and will have situations where I have to use visual display of data many times, but I never got to go back and check the history how they were originated, how the use of them transformed during the era of time and how the development of the visual display has impacted in the modern business world. This book provided me a chance, which no other books I have read, to see the significance of visual data, which was mostly introduced and developed from 1750 1800. The book was also really helpful in clarifying the terms and applications we studied in the classroom. Anything they do can risk their job and any tiny mistake ruining the rest of their lives in this oppressed environment. So yes, out of fear workers do not tend to fight back but this out of necessity to protect their families from losing what in most cases is their only source of income. Though American workers are treated better, they still have to contend with being replaced by machines and worry about companies taking their jobs away. As a reader we are being isolated from the harsher realities of the people that live there. She recalls the imperious ways of the head librarian (who suspected Kincaid, rightly, of stealing books), who is now sadly reduced to campaigning, mostly unsuccessfully, for funds to build a new library, while the collection decomposes in cardboard boxes. The rich members of the Mill Reef Club have the funds to help, but will do so only if the old library is rebuilt a demand that Kincaid sees as having more to do with nostalgia for the colonial regime than with a true desire to help. Kincaid mentions the ironies involved in Antigua having a Minister of Culture without having a culture to administer. • 16. Forrest Thomson Poetic Artifice Analysis Two Co Option Co option is I argue most clearly defined by Veronica Forrest Thomson s Poetic Artifice. A text, that pushed back against critics of the previous generation and endeavoured early on to integrate structuralist thought with post structuralist. This integration between structuralism and post structuralism can be seen as an attempt to get at the importance of poetry. In an attempt to stress and illuminate poetry s unique ability to be transformative of both language and the world. Forrest Thomson in Poetic Artifice demands an intense focus on all the rhythmic, phonetic, verbal and logical devices which makes poetry different from prose to best consider this transformative nature. It is in this distinguishing of poetry from prose, and the highly formalist manner and structuralist distrust of language s transparency in which she follows that one can also see a similar differencing between the broader spectrum of literature with the sciences. There is no need in Forrest Thomson s work for differing areas to be inclusive of one another, to the point of loss of individuality, because of a homogenizing of methodology and epistemic reasoning. Throughout both Poetic Artifice and her thesis Poetry as Knowledge: The Use of Science by Twentieth Century Poets, Forest Thomson can be seen to put forward a new structure, in which separation is crucial for any kind of interrelation between the two fields of knowledge. Sound devices in A High Toned christian Woman The poem A High Toned christian Woman by Stevens Wallace is a famous poem written in the defense of poetry, with a very whimsical tone. The poem is speaking to an old christian woman, who does not believe that poetry has any worth or significance. The poet argues that poetry is art at its finest, and can be used to express the morals of anything, even religion. Two significant sound devices in the poem are onomatopoeia and alliteration. The poet uses both of these devices throughout the poem, yet there is one line in which both the devices are used together; Such tink and tank and tunk a tunk tunk, . This is the 18th line in the poem and it contributes to the playful tone of the poem. The tunk a tunk tunk is meant to be the sound of metal hitting different items. Here the poet mocks the old Christian woman confronting her about the naive, dysfunctional, and boozy people present in the Christian faith. • 18. The Biological Basis Toward Sexual Orientation The world has come very far with all the dramatic changes we have faced over the years. Wouldn t you agree? As much change as the world has been through there are still numerous social problems that still exist in society today. Amongst those numerous social problems, sexual orientation and inequality stand out to me. Research from biology, psychology, and sociology is where our understanding of sexual orientation comes from. There are two hypothetical theories researchers have discovered examining the biological basis toward sexual orientation. One concept is the neurohormonal theory, biologist contend that homosexuality is caused by abnormal sex hormone levels in utero. The alternative theory is based on behavioral genetics, determining the source and magnitude of genetic impact on sexual orientation. This theory suggested the concept that gay men were genetically female. Later this theory was proven to be false. Homosexuality was considered as a pathology or mental illness. Not every psychologists agreed with that perspective. A researcher by the name of Havelock Ellis stated that homosexuality was congenital and for that reason it could not be considered as a disease. Sigmund Freud another theorist had the concept that everyone is born bisexual and that either homosexuality or heterosexuality is developed through social and personal experience. Ellis and Freud both concurred that homosexuality was not a mental illness. Despite these researchers opinions in 1973, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This IP address is assigned by the ISP out of a specific designated block of IP addresses and manually entered into the computer. While primarily IP addresses are sent to the host by the DHCP now, certain people prefer static IP. Static IP is also used for the URL or uniform resource locator to give a website a permanent residence on the internet. This keeps the website from bouncing around from leased IP s that a DHCP would give. This type of network would also be good for VPN s and remote access. To quote Lifewire: (Fisher, 2017) Because a static IP address never changes, other devices always know exactly how to contact a device that uses one. Assessments For Students With Autism Spectrum Disorders Essay Assessments for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders Autism is a mental disorder, present from early childhood, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012) One in 88 children are diagnosed with autism and the symptoms are usually noticed between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. Typically, autism affects individuals in 5 key areas: Communication (verbal and non verbal), Social skills, Behaviors, Learning, and Medical issues. Because this disorder has a dramatic impact on a child s ability to learn, it is imperative that teachers understand the conditions surrounding autism and know how to accommodate these students. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012) Teachers can understand more about a student with ASD and how to accommodate the student by doing different assessments. Assessments are an extremely important part of special education. Teachers need to make sure that the assessments given to their students is correct in everyway possible. It should be correct in what they are testing, meaning what the teacher or specialist want to know from the assessment, is the information that the assessment is giving the students correct, on how the assessment works, and all assessments must have validity and reliability. Universities are encouraged to offer online courses, or as freelance journalist Chrissie Long and many other experts call them, MOOCs (massive online open courses), to reach out to more students and provide them with a more convenient style of learning (455). While MOOCs certainly have their strengths, how far should universities go? What is the future of online education? Because the lectures are outside of class, there is more time for discussion and clarification. The lectures in strictly face to face courses are presented in class, so there is not usually enough time for in depth discussions. MOOCs are entirely online, so there is no meeting for discussion. Blended courses do meet and have time for discussions, but there are some drawbacks as well. For example, if a student has a question that he or she cannot find the answer to, the student will have to wait until the next in class meeting or email the professor to get the answer. In face to face classes, the student could ask the professor immediately, but a student in a blended course would still be able to eventually ask the professor in person, which is an advantage over a MOOC. Even though face to face classes have more access to professors, and MOOCs do not require the student to come to campus, blended courses remain beneficial to students because they provide more time for discussions and clarification than other types of classes. Aside from more in class discussion, blended courses also allow students to set their own paces. The issue I will be raising is one that might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the fragmentation and overall mutilation of areas that keep and protect the species Rana Draytonii, otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364 (Patrick McGreevy.). An even greater reason to discuss this dilemma is because they are limited in their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings, projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation in areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey). This textual voice literally narrates the story and therefore wields the power to influ ence it in many ways. Sometimes, it is not what the narrator reveals that is important, but what is left out. Writers can use the different aspects of narration to make their point more efficiently and it is therefore an obvious focus point when it comes to interpreting a text. The unsettling events of the tale, however, ask the obvious question of whether the reader can truly trust the woman s letters as factual. Perhaps, she was merely imagining everything. The possibility of an unstable mind cannot be left out and this damages her credibility as a narrator. In addition, since the transcript of the story has travelled through several hands, it can have been altered. This seems unlikely, though, since the transcript surely would have been affected by Douglas knowledge of both prior and sub sequent events that would have given the story an almost omniscient narrator which it far from has. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture. Also how this interaction happens affects and has an impact on results, angels of intersection, total area, static or dynamic overlap, as much as opportunities arised, threats are the blind sight points, every infavor point of intersection oppose the same as not favor, mostly at this style we take contact points and through the timetable we get our median point or points, to assess our results. Luke then explains that he is with Kronos, and they devised a plan to steal Hades Helm of Darkness and Zeus Master Bolt. Luke is successful, but is then caught by Ares. Luke tells him the plan, and Ares joins in on it. Again, like the other predicaments, this one came true as well because Luke does betray Percy by almost killing him in the woods where nobody was around. Luke was friendly to him throughout camp, and becoming one of his friends. This last part of the prophecy is a little different from the others. It states that he will fail to save what matters most in the end. Now what the prophecy is leaning towards is not entirely clear. But it is assumed that he fails to save his mother. But that is not true because Percy returned the Helm of Darkness, his mother was resurrected by Hades. Percy meets his mother at his apartment alive and well. The prophecy is either hinting at something in the near future, was wrong, or did not see that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Should The Driving Age Be Raised To 18 On a daily basis, millions of teenagers around the United States use driving as their main source of transportation. Many teens are interested in being able to drive at a younger age, even after obtaining a driving permit, but it is unclear if they are able to handle such a monumental task. The driver s license age requirement should be increased to the age of 18. Increasing the age requirement might not benefit the teens that need reliable transportation to go to their workplace and support their family and themselves financially, but some argue that earning income at such a young age is too much trouble for an individual. • 45. Japanese Imperial Expansion The Japanese imperial expansion was a major cause of the battle in Singapore. In 1940, Japan allied itself with the Axis powers and by 1941, Japan had effectively been engaged in a 10 year campaign of expansion in East Asia in the quest for much needed resources, especially oil. Before expanding further into South East Asia, Japan wanted to remove the threat of the US Navy based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This surprise attack was the beginning of war in the Pacific on the 7th of December 1941. In just two bombings the Japanese had accomplished the sinking or damaging of 21 American ships, destroyed 188 aircraft and damaged 159, killed nearly 2400 American military personnel and wounded over 1000 people (including civilians). This surprise attack caused the fall of signore attack, uniting America to work for the Allied military victory, as until this attack they were divided over the question of involvement in the war. ... Japanese soldiers made their way through the Malay jungle towards Singapore, with Japanese aircraft bombing Singapore s key sites, at the same time. The British army was convinced the Japanese assault would come from the sea, to the south of the island and had fortified its coastal defenses accordingly. It was a fatal miscalculation. On the 8th forces streamed into Singapore across the narrow straights of Jahore, on the island s north west. The British troops were unable to reach the beaches in time to stop the Japanese and the Australian defenders were spread to thinly and were quickly forced back by wave after wave of Japanese invaders. • 46. Space s Perception Of Space Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality. Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case, then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
