The Children and Young Persons Act 2008 Essay
There are a number of legislations which address the needs of young people leaving care with
provisions that are in place to help them through life transitions. The Children and Young Persons Act
2008 focuses on older young people and those who are leaving care. Providing the necessary
legislative support to improve the care system in England. Ensuring that stability and continuity in
every aspect of a child s care. This act proposed to reform the statutory framework for the care system
involving children and young people as much as possible regarding decision making, giving them a
voice so that they are heard. Resulting in the improvement of care standards.

Children who are looked after must not move from an unregulated placement such as foster care or a
children s home without a form review, chaired by an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to
confirm that they are ready to move and that the new setting will meet their needs. Children s voices
are heard in all decisions about their futures and are made by them.
When leaving care young people are faced with a whole range of responsibilities, it is important for
care settings to recognised this. When making the transition out of care the young person must be
healthy, safe, have developed both emotionally and behaviourally. A plan must have been made and
approved by a personal advisor and an assessment of needs should be completed. Most importantly
suitable accommodation is available and financial support is provided. All social and family

Adolf Hitler s Master Race
Introduction: Adolf Hitler was the leader of the German Aryans during World War Two, Hitler was the
Chancellor of Germany and his main goal was to create a master race to take over the world. Adolf
Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in a tavern in Austria. Hitler was born into his family with 5 others
siblings. His Father Alois Schickelgruber and Mother Klara Potzl changed all of their family members
last names to Hitler because, both of Adolf s Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and most of his family
members were Jewish. Adolf s father died when he was thirteen years old, his siblings abandoned him,
and he was left alone with his mother and he had to work to take care of her. But Shortly after Alois
died, his mother, Klara died aswell and he was all alone. Although Hitler wanted to create a master
race, he violated his own standards, and in the end, he took his own life.
Adolf Hitler s goal was to create a master race. He saw the german people the best race in the world,
and that they could cleanse other countries and he called his master race the Aryans. Since Hitler was
baptized catholic, he believed that any other people outside the faith were condemned to hell but he

Fast Fashion On The Fashion Industry
The popularity of cheap and fashionable clothing has been on the rise since the introduction of fast
fashion to major clothing companies. The fashion world has become one of the dominating parts of
consumer culture. However, the affordable clothing movement, in addition to the fast paced garment
work, has affected more than just our wallets. Advancement of new practices and clothing availability
have contributed to many garment factories and businesses for clothing manufacturing. Nonetheless, it
has led to influences in cultures, environments, and societies within many developing countries.
Inadequate working conditions, low wages, pollution and furthering regulatory practices have resulted
from the fast fashion movement.
Clothing is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although fast fashion is a modern concept, the garment industry is one of the oldest and largest
sources of export in many countries. It contains a vast number of workers, and in many developing
countries, the clothing industry is the single largest employer of citizens. Employed women and men
work to produce the variety of clothing sold in countries such as America. Despite the substantial
employment in factories, many garment workers are often informally employed and home based thus
invisible and rarely represented in national statistics (WIEGO). Many of the women who work in this
field must work based on uncertain and rushed production and receive little pay, benefits or vacation.
In countries such as Bangkok, garment employees earn on average daily about 845 baht (approx. US )
for a seven hour day (WIEGO). Practices such as low wages and unstable conditions lead to a
disposable way of employing workers, and most factories or employers ignore demands for pay raises
or transparency. For instance, the Cambodian government is competing with the constant demands of
fast fashion companies and their manufacturers. Increasing expenses of living for the citizens have
made working in the garment industry more difficult. The employees of clothing factories have
experienced increased wages, but the workload has grown. Some laborers produce more

Prose In Defoe s Robinson Crusoe
When Robinson Crusoe was first published in 1719, it was as an autobiography. Defoe had omitted his
name from the work, and instead titled it as the writings of Crusoe himself. And people believed him.
They believed in this outrageous, extraordinary adventure because it was written in such an ordinary
manner. Defoe s style of writing is of the everyday man; a man simply trying to get all his thoughts
down in one place. Prose is not what makes Robinson Crusoe such a literary masterpiece the real
genius of the novel is Defoe s ability to captivate his audience and fool them into believing that what
they are reading is reality.
There is no real structure, no logical end to Robinson Crusoe. In the words of Terry Eagleton, it is
merely a case of accumulating narrative. (Eagleton, 55) Defoe wrote rapidly; Robinson Crusoe is a
result of the white heat of creativity. He did not return to edit ... Show more content on

Crusoe s outlook is very much that of the everyday Englishman. He does not fully describe his
emotional reaction to some terrifying event, (Novak, 5) because he lives in a society wherein to show
one s feelings is to show weakness. Such soliloquies are reserved for the stage. Moreover, Robinson
Crusoe is not Shakespeare it contains no Immortal longings. (Shakespeare, 171) Crusoe is ambitious,
yes, but even his most lofty ambitions reside within the confines of his society s ideology. Crusoe is a
flawed character, but his flaws are not only the fatal hamartia of a Greek tragedy. He is greedy and
selfish, but such propensity of nature (Defoe, 3) is portrayed in such a way that makes it seem
acceptable because it was. Robinson Crusoe represents the zenith of western civilisation; he is the
quintessential economic man. Any evil influence (Defoe, 17) which followed him was one society
could not fault him for, as it most likely resided in them as

Analysis Of Angela Carters Nights At The Circus
Angela Carters, Nights at the Circus, opens avenues to various interpretations, Most of which deal
with themes based on Feminism and Magical Realism. This article deals with an essential aspect of
the human psyche, Individuation. A term coined by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and
psychotherapist. To comprehend Individuation in a nut shell, it is a psychological progress that
involves a holistic process of one s physical and mental growth. This process is more of a conscious
progress. To attain this state, ones inner thought and psyche is drawn out from the personal and the
collective unconscious. Individuation runs parallel to transformation, initially it begins unconsciously

The Impact Of Divorce On Young Adults
The Impact of Divorce on Young Adults
Bridget Cook
Lindenwood University Abstract
This paper explains the factors of parental divorce that have the greatest impact on young adults,
including social support, parental involvement, and the ability of the divorced parents to co parent.
The information in this paper are based on research of three professional journals and one article from
a website. Several studies indicate that young adults have better post divorce outcomes if there is
continued social support, continued quality involvement between parents and children, and if the
divorced parents are able to have a quality co parenting relationship.
Numerous studies have been conducted to determine the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Dr. Constance R. Ahrons, researcher of the Binuclear Family Study, children and young
adults are able to recover from the stress of parental divorce.
For example, on global outcome measures, each concludes that the immediate distress surrounding
parental separation fades with time and that the great majority of adult children (75% 80%) are
functioning as healthy adults. In addition, all reported that divorce presents certain risks, is an
emotionally stressful and complex transition for families, and continues to affect children into
adulthood. (Ahrons, 2007, pg. 55).
Another common finding from the three studies is that the experience of parental divorce itself was
not the key factor producing a negative impact on children but, a lack of parental involvement
resulting from the divorce seemed to be the factor that resulted in negative impact. Negative impact
includes but is not limited to low self esteem, academic difficulty, sexual promiscuity and problems
with developing intimate relationships.
A subsequent study on the impact of divorce on emerging adults conducted by Block Spiegel found
that, Social support moderately predicted self esteem beyond what would expected due to chance.
(Block Spiegel, 2014). Some indicators of social support are parental involvement, financial support,
and quality visitation. These factors were all contributors to higher self esteem in emerging adults. As

Joni Mitchell Struggles
Joni Mitchell was found unconscious in her home back in late March, and she was transferred to a
local hospital in Los Angeles (CA). After some time had passed, rumors starting circulating that
Mitchell had slipped into a coma. Those rumors were shut down by those who run Mitchell s website,
for which they stated the singer was alert and had her full senses. They also explained Mitchell would
have 24 hour care whenever she left the hospital, and she was expected to make a full recovery. Just
recently, Mitchell s good friend David Crosby said that the singer had suffered a brain aneurysm and
faced a long struggle.
Crosby told the Huffington Post that Mitchell was at home, and she is recovering. How much she is
going to come back, and when, I don t know. She took a terrible hit. She had an aneurysm and nobody
found her for a while, he explained. Crosby continued, She s going to have to struggle back from it the
way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury. To my knowledge, she s not speaking yet.
Crosby and Mitchell dated back in the late 1960s, and they gave been friends ever since. She is a

The Problem Of A Dichotomy Of Civil And Ethnic Nationalism
Not only economic, but also political realities of global process of democratization of the 1990s of the
20th century had impact on development of the political analysis of nationalism, having stabilized a
problem of the analysis of a ratio of civil and ethnic nationalism not so much in general theoretical,
but in a regional direction.
The problem of a dichotomy of civil nationalism (as inherent mainly in countries of Western Europe
and North America) and ethnic nationalism (widespread, according to the standard version, in the
countries of the Central and Eastern Europe) became a subject of scientific discussion.
Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA were distinguished as a political

In the second half of the 1990s, the problem of conceptualization of national identity is characterized
by the shift of emphasis on definition like national identification in the countries of democratic post
socialist transit. The considerable group of the researchers specializing in the field of the political
analysis of nationalism in post socialist New Europe remained on former positions and referred to the
features of national identity of the countries of this region to ethnic type. It is possible to determine
such prominent experts in nationalism problems in countries of Eastern Europe as Rogers Brubaker
and George Schopflin.
Brubaker puts forward the provision on prevalence in type of national identity of transit democracies
of Eastern Europe and Eurasia of ethno cultural aspect and lack of necessary conditions for an
interiorization of patterns of civil national identity. R. Brubaker comes to a conclusion that in these
countries, the creation of statehood was preceded by the nationalist movements, and the state was
created in interests of concrete ethno political group. In this regard, the researcher believes, in the new
democratic countries of Eurasia chances of distribution of patterns of civil identity are very small. In
new democracies, there was an institutionalization of the ethno cultural concept of national identity
which is distanced from the idea of civic consciousness and is focused on transfer of social
responsibility to structures of the power.

In today s time many people have a problem with facing obesity, and many have no clue how to

Avoid Drones Analysis
Before I read the article I was in favor of autonomous drones. When growing up I saw the movie
Stealth which is about the first ever autonomous aircraft joining a actual team. At first the pilots were
skeptical, but then through fighting in combat together they became close friends and the autonomous
aircraft ended up sacrificing himself for the two pilots behind enemy lines. Up until I read this article I
never thought it was even a possibility. Then on August 17th 2014 the Navy s unmanned X 47B lands

does raise fear for most U.S. citizens because of movies like stealth and terminator, the fear of a killer

This could be an option to prevent nations from hacking into our systems. But for instance take call of

states, and cause a worldwide panic because of all the drones that were across the world. This fear is
one that I myself personally am worried about. Another movie that represents autonomous robots is
iRobot. What if those drones where hacked and or given a single piece of data and it corrupted the
drone and it went rogue and started emptying its payload into city s. Because as we develop society
and become more technologically advanced one day everything will be technology based. And even
though we aren t technologically ready for autonomous drones, fully autonomous unmanned combat
aircraft are feasible. But what moral and legal laws would be broken? Advocates of a ban on

Value Maximization Is Not The Optimal Approach
Enhanced Value Maximization. According to HBS Professor Michael C. Jensen (2000), pursuing only
one objective, i.e. profit maximization is not the optimal approach. A manager must develop a
structure that will help employees to resist the temptation to maximize the short term financial
performance of the organization as that s a sure way to destroy value. Though, a manager needs to
take into account the impact of their decisions on all the stakeholders as the first step towards value
maximization, the stakeholder theory falls short in describing how managers should make the
necessary tradeoffs among competing interests of its stakeholders. Jensen writes in his paper that a

Managers are looking to globalize operations, developing new markets for their products for better
strategic business outcomes. Consumers have better access to a greater variety of goods and services
and competition to reach to the new markets with the right product is getting stronger among
businesses. Globalization also gives businesses better access to a global workforce, enables them to
tap into international raw materials and financial resources. As the world economy is fast becoming a
single interdependent system, businesses have competitors, customers, employees from anywhere in
the world. As indicated in the article Leading in a Globalizing World , the author emphasized that
being successful in the global business environment takes special skills. As global managers, the
biggest challenge is to improve upon their ability to deal with ambiguity, complexity, and diversity.
Understanding the bigger picture and acquiring the global vision is the key, i.e. staying informed what
the competitors are doing, what customers prefer at different markets. For example, a global manager
needs to understand that a customer in China might probably have different preferences than a
customer living in Europe. As complex as business is today, it is important to recognize that a manager
would never have all the information / details before making a decision. Taking a moderate amount of

Online driven marketing is the most famous use of collected personal data. There is, however, a
growing apprehension and a captivating backlash from the public over online targeted advertising.

Conclusion
The gathering of personal data does unfortunately also have many benefits for both the consumers and
business, but when used dishonorably they can become very concerning and harmful to the actual

If all patients were bathed/showered preoperatively with an antiseptic, it would reduce the risk of

Niccolo Machiavelli Philosophy Of New Orders
Niccolo Machiavelli teaches us that establishing and/or founding new orders and modes it can be
difficult to enforce when acquiring new principalities but it also a necessity to keep the state and
secure it. New orders are more difficult to handle, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to
manage, than to put oneself at the head of introducing new orders (23). With new orders can come
great success, for it is tough to achieve greater success than their predecessors by just imitating what
they already have put in place. When old laws are still in tack it can cause adversaries, who believe the
law is on their side, therefore when enforcing new laws one must beg or indeed can use force (24).
But, once new orders are put into place either by will or force, they remain powerful, secure, honored,
and happy (25).
Niccolo Machiavelli considers Cesare Borgia to be a great example to follow if one wishes to
apprehend, secure, and strengthen their principalities. Cesare Borgia was a great prince whom gained
his principality through his father Pope Alexander VI by fortune. He exhibited great prowess to secure
his state, but lost it to unfortunate fortune, that led to his fall and death.
Cesare Borgia, called Duke Valentino, came into power through his roots in the state that the arms and
fortune of others had given him (27). Borgia should great signs of staying in power and expanding his
foundations by not only conquering the Romagna. But, also, he used tactics to weaken powerful
principalities, gained a great amount of popularity and loyal noblemen.
First, it was necessary for Cesare Borgia, to upset orders to bring disorder to their states to be able to
make himself secure (27). When the duke came into power he could not trust no one, for the people
were all loyal to Orsini and Colonna. In order secure his new state, he had to seek out and eliminate
his competition. With the help of his father, he was able to gain Romagna from Colonna by using
force and some cruelty, and then allowed the country to be ran on its own. He then, brought Orsini
supporters loyalty through big allowances, honoring them, and giving them promotions within the
government. Through these tactics he was able to turn all

THE ROLE OF ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION IN INDUSTRIAL
DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA (A CASE STUDY OF PORT
HARCOURT MUNICIPAL)
ABSTRACT
This study focused on The Role of Achievement Motivation in Industrial development: A study of Port
Harcourt Municipal. The onus of the research was to X ray the extent to which the role of achievement
motivation from childhood could be instrumental to industrial development in Nigerian. In addition,
some of the major objectives were to discover if the values of a given soda economic milieu and
achievement motivation could have a blend and affect a nation s level of industrial development; to
unravel the existence of low level of achievement values and lack of industrial growth.
The researcher raised some hypothesis. These hypotheses were to establish if there is a significant
relationship between the inability to inculcate achievement motivation in an individual and low level
of its contribution to industrial development later in life; also to find out, if the more a family
inculcates achievement values in a child through socialization, the more, or the higher the tendencies
for the child to work hard and contribute meaningfully to industrial development.
Volumes of literature strictly related to the study/topic were reviewed and the need

How Do Hurricanes Affect Southern Coastlines
Over the course of humanity, there have been several notable types of disasters ranging from severe
floods, earthquakes, tornados, fires, ice storms, bombings, tropical storms, and hurricanes. Many
individuals have experienced some form of these disasters throughout their life, either natural or
manmade. Surveys suggest that 13 30% of individuals will be exposed to one or more natural disasters
in their lifetime (Jacob, 2015, p. 512). Along the eastern and southern United States coastlines, the
more common disaster associated with these areas are hurricanes. Each year, on average, 10 tropical
storms, of which six become hurricanes, develop over the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of
Mexico from June to November. Many of these remain over the ocean; however, about five hurricanes
strike the United States coastline every three years (Hurricanes, nd, para 4). Based on this average,
roughly two hurricanes per year make landfall. Depending on the severity, that is two large areas with

The Eel Marsh House In Susan Hill s The Woman In Black
In Susan Hill s The Woman in Black, the story starts out in present day London England on Christmas
Eve. Arthur Kipps, the main character and narrator is getting ready to tell his grandchildren a story
from when he was young. The story makes for a great ghost story. When Arthur was young he was a
businessman, who was sent on a business trip to Crythin Gifford to search through documents in the
house of a woman who had recently past away. Her name was Alice Drablow, and she lived at the
house commonly known as the Eel Marsh House. She was an woman whose husband had recently

opinion. However, this assumption was incorrect. When Arthur was on a train, he meets a man named
Sam Daily who seemed very interested when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

uncomfortable with the topic of the Eel Marsh House. To show respect to Alice Drablow, Arthur

looking woman dressed in all black at the funeral. The strange part is when he asks the townspeople
what is wrong with her, none of them knew who he was talking about. When he finally gets to the Eel
Marsh House he realizes that finding the documents were not going to be easy to find at all. There are
many piles of paper scattered around, and he would need to sort through all of them. While in the
house he sees slight images of the woman in black. He was starting to come to the conclusion

Growth Hormone Research Paper
Hormones have been with you since birth. They helped you grow when you were a child. They
transitioned you from childhood to adulthood when you hit puberty. They help you regulate your body
temperature and blood sugar levels. The fact is that you would not be alive without them.
As your body begins to age, the levels of certain key hormones begin to decline also. With the decline
of these hormones, the body begins to show signs of aging. Declining muscle mass and a lack of sex
drive are just two signs that hormone levels are decreasing. The good news is that selective hormone
therapy can help reverse the signs of aging and begin to restore your youthful vigor.

As this hormone declines, it can cause sleeping problems, mood swings, and clouded thinking. It also
leads to higher levels of cortisol and lower levels of sex hormones. Therapy helps to reverse these
problems.
Growth hormone, also known as HGH, is necessary for the development and maintenance of various
organs and tissues. It helps increase muscle mass and strengthens bone structure. This hormone is
often used with children who have growth issues or anyone who has hormone deficiencies.
Testosterone serves functions in men. A man s body uses testosterone to stimulate the growth of facial
hair, increase sex drive, and produce sperm. Testosterone therapy helps men get more energy,
improved memory, better moods, improved muscle mass, and increase sexual stamina.
Testosterone is also critical for women. As testosterone levels decline as a woman ages, body mass
begins to decline, making it harder to keep a healthy weight. It also plays a role in sex drive and mood.
Estrogen levels are critical for women as they age. This hormone helps regulate bone growth,
cholesterol levels, and sex drive. Estrogen therapy can help women, especially during

Washington is the greatest actor of all time and his work shows it off. The actor has played in
innumerable movies such as The Equalizer, American Gangster, and much more. In the nationwide
wide movie, The Magnificent Seven, Denzel Washington played the leader of a western pack of
bandits that came together as one and played the role phenomenally well. As Denzel Washington plays

Gender Bias For Infiltrate Professional Industries Essay
Allowing gender bias to infiltrate professional industries has many different effects, but one of the
most problematic would be pay disparity. The gender discrimination that exists in our society today
causes expansive wage gaps which favor men, and this is a problem that exists across all levels of
working fields. There is a healthy amount of new studies being published every year that lay out the
facts about what the gender wage gap looks like for the average American. One of the easiest ways to
keep this conversation going is to compare these to the example of gender bias and discrimination that
happen on a large stage, such as in Hollywood or the sports world. With the influence that these two
monstrous industries have, the women who work within them are in excellent positions to speak out
and challenge this issue that is too often pushed to the side. It is important to point out that being
privileged does not exempt these ladies from the unfairness of the pay disparities, and their situations
mirror and parallel those of the average working class American women as well. Gender
discrimination and gender wage gaps are problems that need to be magnified in order to be eliminated.
Most people are familiar with the saying that the American women make x amount of cents to a man s
dollar. As pay inequality has increasingly become more of a concern, this is a very popular and simple
way to get the facts across. It is better than the gap widening or being stagnant, but the

The Franchise Owners
This proves the point that the franchise(s) must constantly be aware of what is happening within its
territory. The next case, which is also still going through the system, concerns itself with the supposed
abuse of four franchise owners by 7 Eleven s main office. The four franchise owners are Indians who
felt that they were being labeled incorrectly. When they had informed the main office of their
supposed mistake, 7 Eleven had labeled them as Independent Contractors based on the degree of
control SEI exercised over store operations, including regulation of vendors and product supply,
franchise payroll processing, control over franchising, bookkeeping and accounting, and alleged
intense daily oversight by SEI market and zone managers. Aside from the title argument, everything
which the four defendants mentioned in their legal document is actually what was presented to them
prior to their signing of the franchise agreement. Franchises are in the business to create a profit by
letting other people help in the process of that particular profit making. All of the rules and regulations
are presented to the individual or individuals before they have to sign so they can see what they are
getting into. Adhering to said regulations and practices is somewhat easy because the franchise gives
the beginners programs in which every aspect of the business is explained, such as the accounting and
bookkeeping methods that said company uses. The last case that I will present

Female Power In To Kill A Mockingbird
How much power do women have in our society? Many people argue that women do not really posses
much power or contribute to our society. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee tries to emphasize the
ways women in the novel control and contribute to their society. Female power is when a woman has
or lacks control of herself or others. Moreover, female power in the novel is seen through the three
perspectives of Scout, Mayella, and Miss Stephanie. Throughout the county of Maycomb, the theme
of female power is seen through isolation, fear, and education. Scout Finch, an innocent girl, lives in
Maycomb County, where she attends school and spends her summer playing games, antagonizing her

This is seen in the novel when Scout is forced to join Aunt Alexandra s missionary circle and Miss
Stephanie tries to teach Scout to act like a proper lady. Miss Stephanie asks, Don t you want to be a

you wont get very far until you start wearing dresses more often. (308) This shows education because
Miss Stephanie believes it is important to learn to act like a proper young lady. This shows female
power because Scout is forced to act like a stereotypical girl and wear dresses. Although, she
continues to act and dress like she pleases despite these lectures. Female power and education are
correlated with one another because some women are forced to learn society s rules about how to act
like a woman instead of having the ability to choose the kind of person they want to be. This is in
contrast to Miss Maudie, who does not care who Scout is as long she continues to be an intelligent
girl. Therefore, the theme of female power can be seen through

Reasons Of Quiting Youth Sports
Too Intense, Too Young These days, youth sports are pretty intense for many reasons. Some of these
reasons are even causing kids to quit sports. Many athletes suffer injuries at a young age. Athletes
sometimes quit because coaches and parents take the fun out of it. There is more and more pressure to
play one sport year round. Playing a sport all year round is giving you an advantage over many other
people you usually play sports with. Your abilities to do that sport will increase dramatically, and will
be easier on you in your school sport season. Sports are a thing kids love these days, but, to some kids,

On the other hand, some people support youth sports being intense. Since the parents do not have the
guts to do it themselves, they want the coaches to do it. Parents allow this because they do not want to
be the ones to take their child s confidence away, they want to be as supportive as possible. Also,
parents make their kids do competitive sports just because they want them to get noticed. According to
Detroit Free Press, parents put a lot of time into their kids sports and they automatically think that if
they put all of the time in, they will see a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a scholarship
(www.freep.com). That does not happen that easily. You have to earn your scholarships by working
hard, not just because you think you deserve one without doing anything. At some point, parents will

The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes Essay
The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes
The Old Gringo is a fiction novel written by one of Latin America s most renowned and eloquent
authors, Carlos Fuentes. Filled with war, adventure, love and more, this novel takes you back to the
Mexican revolution fought in 1912. This contemporary fiction is based on many themes found and
experienced by the main characters in this novel. The relationship between Mexico and the United
States, the drive to find one s true self and the different ways two men need a woman are only a few
themes contained in this story. The question: Is he Ambrose Bierce or just an old gringo, is one that I
had to answer while reading this book. We all have different opinions, but it is a question that all ask

The setting also influenced one of the major themes of the story, the historical relationship between
the United States and Mexico. As you can see, the setting of this novel was very important to
everything included in this story.
The main characters in this story are Harriet Winslow, the old gringo, and Tomas Arroyo. Of the
Three, Harriet learns the most as she starts her new life as governess across the frontier. She is a
dynamic character that changes in the story because of the things that happen around her. Other
characters include Manslavo, La Garduna, Frutos Garcia, La Luna and more. Carlos Fuentes did a
very good job of describing these characters and paints a picture, like all great authors, of the
characters portrayed in their novels.
Most of the story revolves, however, not around the old gringo but the young gringa, Harriet Winslow.
Harriet Winslow is a Yankee spinster, who decides one day in 1912 to break loose from her humdrum
life by taking a job as governess in Mexico. Once she arrives, she is immediately caught in the middle
of the Mexican revolution. Here, she meets the general, Tomas Arroyo, and the American author, the
old gringo. Harriet is described as a, quick, elegant, and a beautiful woman of thirty. ; In a discussion
with Miss Harriet and the old gringo, we learn that her father disappeared in the Spanish American
War somewhere in Cuba.

History Of The Woodstock Music Festival Of 1969
In early 1969 four men were trying to create a music festival. They had quite a few speed bumps along
the way. Financial and locations struggles were the first to slow them down. After they got those two
figured out they had to worry about the music. Then in April 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival
signed, after they signed people started lining up to play. The music, venue, and money now settled,
they could start selling tickets. August 15th to 18th of 1969 in Bethel, NY 200,000 music lovers
showed up to listen to great music. To this day the famous festival is still talked about also known as

transportation and roadblocks were not the only problems at Woodstock; they had only estimated that
about 150,000 would show up for all three days of the festival. When there were about 500,000 people

The biggest thing that the organizers were not prepared for was the rain on the day the festival started.
All three days the conditions were mud, no sleep, rain, drugs, more mud, and even more smiles. No

Animal Breeding Is Good For The Community And Immoral
Many people believe that breeding animals is not good for the community and immoral. This
statement is extremely broad. Instead, the statement should read, specifically, that irresponsible animal
breeding is bad for the animals as well as the reproduction industry. Knowing the differences between
responsible and irresponsible breeding is crucial to understanding the consequences of reckless
breeding. Careless breeding creates health and behavioral defects as well as overpopulation. The
negative consequences of irresponsible breeding should not only become more mainstream, but also
more carefully regulated, which results in the stopping of the practice. Major details differentiate
between responsible and reckless breeding. The biggest is the use of healthy, unrelated animals to
produce the offspring by responsible breeders. Contrary to this, it is common that irresponsible
breeders will use a technique called inbreeding. Inbreeding is when two animals, who are closely
related, reproduce which causes serious health defects. An example of irresponsible breeding is the
use of puppy mills which then sell to the public and pet stores. It is strongly advised that people do not
buy pets from stores because it promotes irresponsible breeding. Trustworthy breeders usually are self
made and use their own pets to produce offspring knowing they are healthful. Not only do they use
their own healthy pets, they make sure that a good partner is used which results in healthy, well
mannered

Alumnium-based Adjuvants Produce Long-lasing Vaccinations
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Aluminium based adjuvants have been used extensively to induce long lasting protective immunity
through vaccination and billions of doses have been administered over the years (Lindblad, 2004). But
reported incidences of toxicity and side effects of aluminium have raised concerns regarding their
safety in childhood vaccines. These effects include minor local reactions such as pain and erythema, a
nodule at the site of injection and systemic reactions which may entail fever, malaise, shivering,
general aches and headache (Clements and Griffiths, 2002) and is one of the most common reasons for
dropout rates, resulting in incomplete immunisation and hence suceptibility to various diseases
(Aguado, 1993). A small proportion of vaccinated people also suffered from delayed onset of diffuse
myalgia, chronic fatigue and cognitive dysfunction. In some persons, at site of intra muscular
immunization, a granulomatous lesion called macrophagic myofasciitis (MMF) has also been
observed. Clinical symptoms associated with MMF is recently delineated as
autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA) (Gherardi and Authier, 2012).
Despite of this fact, the choice of adjuvants for human vaccination still reflects a compromise between
a requirement for adjuvancity and an acceptable level of side effects (Clements, 1996). At present, in
human vaccinations, aluminium based adjuvants are being used primarily in Diphtheria, Tetanus,
Pertussis, Hepatitis B,

BALAENOPTEROIDS (CETACEA, MYSTICETI): IMPLICATIONS ON FOSSIL CETACEAN
PALEOECOLOGY AND BIOLOGY
KERR, Tyler J., University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, United States, 82071
BACKGROUND
Whales (Cetacea) are unique among mammals in that they possess exceptionally dense,
pachyosteosclerotic tympanic bullae1. Along the margin of the bulla is a highly mineralized,
extremely dense wall of bone called the involucrum that serves as a special adaptation to life in the sea
and as a means to facilitate sound reception and directionality underwater2,3,4. Moreover, this
cetacean synapomorphy plays an important role in distinguishing its members from the ancestral
terrestrial artiodactyls from which whales diverged5. When cut into cross sections, the involucral
region of the tympanic bullae in many mysticete (baleen whale) lineages reveals three easily
distinguishable zones of concentric laminar growth. Here we hypothesize that these three distinct
zones identified along the length of the tympanic bullae are capable of recording life history events
during early development, when the cetacean tympanoperiotic region is known to be rapidly
ossifying6. We propose that the innermost zone (1) represents rapid in utero growth, the intermediary
zone (2) represents rapid birth and postnatal development, and the outermost zone (3), markedly
thinner, represents slower, more lamellar development from weaning on through adulthood.

As you can probably understand these teachers were overloaded with their regular duties and did not
have time to receive extra training to focus on vocational/counseling related trainings. It wasn t until
the 1900 s that the teacher counselor positions were replaced with full time school counselors or what
was known as guidance counselors (Schimmel, 2008). An alliance among education, social work, and
psychometrics in vocational guidance led to the organization of the National Vocational Guidance
Association (NVGA) in 1913 (Lambie Williamson, 2004). By creating this association, it gave a voice
to guidance counselors and created a network of support and strength to the career as a whole. In the

The Role Of Literature, Literacy, And Language Acquisition
Literature, Literacy, and Language Acquisition all play a major role not only specifically for learning
but also in society. The definition of literacy in the past focused only on the ability to read and write

ability to read, write, design, speak, listen and view in a way that allows you to communicate

Literature does not just stop at reading a book. Here in Australia, the National Curriculum insures
children will learn from literature from spoken, written and oral texts including Aboriginal stories,

non fiction, film, multimodal texts and dramatic performances (www.australiancurriculum.edu.au).
Literature is an important part of teaching children to read and comprehending language in many
forms. Keeping children engaged and learning from different forms of literature is essential for
education and society. Society is built on Literature. We like to read others stories, share and learn
from their experience and this is the same for children too. Children reacts to literature in a living way,
an inspiring story creates a great influence for the child where as one of questions ignites their
curiosity and drives their need for information further. Literature therefore is forever building

traveling frequently, and his time spent in the library educating himself. Twain has a style that no
author will have as he wrote many of his books talking abouthis childhood. This attracts a lot of
attention from readers as he actually had not had a father in his life. In the book, The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, on page 134, it states, Yes, he s got a father, but you can t ever find him these days.
This means that although he does have a father, it does not necessarily mean that he is in his life.
Another childhood quote from the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was stated on page
156. It states, I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. Although Twain was required
to attend school, he felt there was no substitute for educating himself through living life to the fullest.
The first hand accounts that Twain experienced during his childhood helped mold his ideas and views
of society. Another factor that influenced Twain s writing style was traveling frequently.

American Anime Influence
Anime films are cartoons, usually from Japan, with adult subject matter. Despite the prevailing
American view that cartoons are for children, Japanese view anime as a legitimate art form that is
appropriate for adult viewing. Anime subjects vary widely from soap opera drama, to medieval
adventures, comedy and to science fiction.
The fist anime ever televised was Tetsuwan Atomu it came out In 1963 as a television series. The
english name for Tetsuwan Atomu was Astroboy . The next hit anime was Speed Racer In 1967.
Tezuka s greatest work was Hi No Tori the english verzion was known as Phoenix 2772 .
The success of Astroboy led to the overnight development of an Anime industry. This industry flooded
with copycats, originals, and a mix of both that leads to what we see today. Over the next three ...

Today, the American industry shows anime five plus hour per day airing across multiple networks and
cable channels. Oftentimes more mature titles where purchased for the US market but were edited to
tone down the mature content as there still exists the stigma that animation is a children s medium and
childrens mediaum has to be highly restricted in the content it shows.
Many people disagree on whether these changes ruined or improved the anime however is widely
acknowledged that they gave anime the one thing that it needed in order to make it in the American
market: exposure.
High exposure eventually leads to a larger fan base. Exposure leads people to ask or look for more, if
we have 100 pokemon fans in 1998, and two years later we have about 75 Dragon ball Z fans, another
two years later we have 45 lovers of Cowboy Bebop , Outlaw Star , Inuyasha , this leads us to a few
hard core otaku . If the trend continues by 2010, we have an anime industry with accolades of fans
swarming in unprecedented numbers, all because a few shows debuted on

Sn2 Reaction With 2-Bromobutane
In this experiment, the purpose was to create and observe the effects of a S_N 1 reaction. Silver nitrate
was dissolved in ethanol. The nitrate ion is a decent nucleophile, and ethanol is a fairly powerful
solvent. The difference in a SN1 reaction than an SN2 reaction is that a carbocation is formed. The
leaving group wants to leave on it s own, causing a multi step synthesis. The leaving group leaves,
creating a carbocation. The nucleophile finds the carbocation and attaches itself to it. More
substitution is preferred for SN1 reactions because the more stable a molecule is, the more stable the
carbocation will be. The following mixtures were combined with the silver nitrate dissolved in
ethanol: 2 chlorobutane, 2 bromobutane, 1 chlorobutane, 1 bromobutane, 2 chloro 2 methylpropane. ...

This is because chlorine is a poor leaving group, which is a critical characteristic of a SN1 reaction.
The reaction with 2 bromobutane formed a dense precipitate. This is because there is a lot of stability
present in this molecule and bromine is a good leaving group for the reaction. In test tube 3, the
reaction with 1 chlorobutane did not form a precipitate. This is because chlorine is a poor leaving
group and the molecule is primary, which means there s no steric hindrance, which is not ideal for a
SN1 reaction. In test tube 4, the reaction with 1 bromobutane formed some cloudiness after heating.
This should not have happened because there is no stability in this molecule. The cloudiness was more
than likely due to some sort of cross contamination. Finally, in test tube 5, the reaction formed a very
dense precipitate within the first couple seconds. This is because this molecule has the most steric
hindrance

Diaphyseal Fractures
DISCUSSION Most diaphyseal fractures in children are treated conservatively with plaster casting.
Where acceptable closed reduction cannot be achieved or maintained in patients with completely
unstable forearm fractures, surgical intervention is required7. Complete fractures were more
frequently treated by surgical intervention, especially in older child with limited remodeling capacity8.
The use of an external fixator9 is not seen as a first line treatment in management of forearm
diaphyseal fractures in children10.The classic methods of open reduction with plating could offer
anatomical reduction sparing the physis and could provide early mobilization of joints. However, the
disadvantages of surgical intervention included the need for surgical ... Show more content on

Previous series have shown that in non comminuted fractures, the non union rate is less than 10% and
the functional results equaling those achieved with plating15. In the pediatric patient, non union has
not been reported in the literature, and good/excellent functional results are reported in nearly 95% of
cases13,14,15. These excellent clinical results support the use titanium elastic intramedullary nails in

Children of Broken Homes
CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE This chapter presents the review of related
literature and studies about broken homes and their effects to children s character. The review focuses
on a number of different instruments used to prove that belonging to a broken family is the main cause
for these children to possess strong character. The chapter begins with the definition of broken home,
and then followed by its effects on the children. The struggles faced by these children, and their
perspective in life are discussed. 2.1 RELATED LITERATURE 2.1.1 INTRODUCTION According to
Collins Cobuild Advanced Dictionary of English, a home can refer to a family unit. Composed of the
father, mother, children, and sometimes with any other members ... Show more content on

It really brings kids down, when they come home and see that their parents are fighting. Children of
broken families may go on to have commitment issues. Children from broken families are nearly five
times more likely to suffer damaging mental troubles than those whose parents stay together,
government research has found. It also showed that two parents are much better than one if children
are to avoid slipping into emotional distress and anti social behavior. The findings say that children s
family background are as important if not more so than whether their home is poor, workless, has bad
health, or has no one with any educational qualifications. 2.2.5 POSSIBLE EFFECTS TO THESE
CHILDREN 2.2.5.1 EMOTIONAL ASPECT 2.2.5.1.1 BEING INDEPENDENT Children from
broken families nowadays choose to live their life worth it. Because the child has no parents to lean
on, they stand by themselves and hold on to something which will make their lives better. This shows
that even if children suffered from a traumatizing event, they still managed to recover and help
themselves alone which makes them an independent person, a better person in the community. Youth
from broken homes need love and acceptance. They need an accepting environment where they feel
wanted, a sense of belonging and know the joy of being involved in a stable and secure peer group.
Loving youth involves letting them talk openly about

About 20 percent of patients experience adverse events after discharge, including drug reactions,
infections and procedural complications. Many of these problems result from delayed or incomplete
information given to subsequent health care providers. The ministry s report also cited a 2003 study
that found patients with significant gaps in their health records spent an average of 1.2 hours longer in
emergency rooms.
Malpractice Defense
Proper documentation is the best defense against a malpractice claim, Dr. Jeff Greenberg writes in a
commentary for UCLA s Department of Medicine. For judges and juries, if a procedure doesn t appear
on a chart, it hasn t been done. Physicians must ensure that all X rays and other lab work are done, and
follow up with the patient. This step minimizes the risk of a missed diagnosis. Good record keeping is
also vital in dealing with patients who are abusive, don t follow advice, or present the same complaint
without improvement.

Positive Changes in the Quality of Life for Woman in Morocco
In recent years, Morocco has made positive changes to the rights and quality of life for women. These
changes include educational opportunities, use of contraception, more public participation, and greater
participation in the paid workforce. With the persistence of patriarchy, the presence of religion, and
the current spotlight on the Middle East, life of Muslim women still remains invisible. It is valuable to
explore the ways in which Muslim women explain their place in society today. Many feminist
movements in Morocco parallel those in the western world and create several notable achievements on
behalf of human and women s rights. At the political and social level, there are signs that conditions
for women are changing. Social organizations, which encourage women s rights, are becoming more
popular and influential. During the last part of the 19th century continuing through the 20th century
women in well off classes had access to feminist ideas and developed the first period of feminism in
Morocco. After the independence period of the 1940s the Moroccan palace created the Feminism of
State. Although more of a silent representation rather than an active transformer it paved way for more
active forms of feminism in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1969 the National Union of Moroccan Women
was created and the Moroccan Association of Familiar Planning began in 1971. These organizations
began the second feminist generation and movement, which moved through the 1980s and focused on

  • 3. Adolf Hitler s Master Race Introduction: Adolf Hitler was the leader of the German Aryans during World War Two, Hitler was the Chancellor of Germany and his main goal was to create a master race to take over the world. Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in a tavern in Austria. Hitler was born into his family with 5 others siblings. His Father Alois Schickelgruber and Mother Klara Potzl changed all of their family members last names to Hitler because, both of Adolf s Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and most of his family members were Jewish. Adolf s father died when he was thirteen years old, his siblings abandoned him, and he was left alone with his mother and he had to work to take care of her. But Shortly after Alois died, his mother, Klara died aswell and he was all alone. Although Hitler wanted to create a master race, he violated his own standards, and in the end, he took his own life. Adolf Hitler s goal was to create a master race. He saw the german people the best race in the world, and that they could cleanse other countries and he called his master race the Aryans. The fashion world has become one of the dominating parts of consumer culture. However, the affordable clothing movement, in addition to the fast paced garment work, has affected more than just our wallets. Advancement of new practices and clothing availability have contributed to many garment factories and businesses for clothing manufacturing. Although fast fashion is a modern concept, the garment industry is one of the oldest and largest sources of export in many countries. It contains a vast number of workers, and in many developing countries, the clothing industry is the single largest employer of citizens. Employed women and men work to produce the variety of clothing sold in countries such as America. Despite the substantial employment in factories, many garment workers are often informally employed and home based thus invisible and rarely represented in national statistics (WIEGO). Many of the women who work in this field must work based on uncertain and rushed production and receive little pay, benefits or vacation. In countries such as Bangkok, garment employees earn on average daily about 845 baht (approx. US ) for a seven hour day (WIEGO). Practices such as low wages and unstable conditions lead to a disposable way of employing workers, and most factories or employers ignore demands for pay raises or transparency. For instance, the Cambodian government is competing with the constant demands of fast fashion companies and their manufacturers. Increasing expenses of living for the citizens have made working in the garment industry more difficult. The employees of clothing factories have experienced increased wages, but the workload has grown. Some laborers produce more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Defoe had omitted his name from the work, and instead titled it as the writings of Crusoe himself. And people believed him. They believed in this outrageous, extraordinary adventure because it was written in such an ordinary manner. Defoe s style of writing is of the everyday man; a man simply trying to get all his thoughts down in one place. Prose is not what makes Robinson Crusoe such a literary masterpiece the real genius of the novel is Defoe s ability to captivate his audience and fool them into believing that what they are reading is reality. There is no real structure, no logical end to Robinson Crusoe. In the words of Terry Eagleton, it is merely a case of accumulating narrative. Though, a manager needs to take into account the impact of their decisions on all the stakeholders as the first step towards value maximization, the stakeholder theory falls short in describing how managers should make the necessary tradeoffs among competing interests of its stakeholders. • 18. Niccolo Machiavelli Philosophy Of New Orders Niccolo Machiavelli teaches us that establishing and/or founding new orders and modes it can be difficult to enforce when acquiring new principalities but it also a necessity to keep the state and secure it. New orders are more difficult to handle, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than to put oneself at the head of introducing new orders (23). With new orders can come great success, for it is tough to achieve greater success than their predecessors by just imitating what they already have put in place. When old laws are still in tack it can cause adversaries, who believe the law is on their side, therefore when enforcing new laws one must beg or indeed can use force (24). But, once new orders are put into place either by will or force, they remain powerful, secure, honored, and happy (25). Niccolo Machiavelli considers Cesare Borgia to be a great example to follow if one wishes to apprehend, secure, and strengthen their principalities. Cesare Borgia was a great prince whom gained his principality through his father Pope Alexander VI by fortune. He exhibited great prowess to secure his state, but lost it to unfortunate fortune, that led to his fall and death. Cesare Borgia, called Duke Valentino, came into power through his roots in the state that the arms and fortune of others had given him (27). Borgia should great signs of staying in power and expanding his foundations by not only conquering the Romagna. But, also, he used tactics to weaken powerful principalities, gained a great amount of popularity and loyal noblemen. First, it was necessary for Cesare Borgia, to upset orders to bring disorder to their states to be able to make himself secure (27). When the duke came into power he could not trust no one, for the people were all loyal to Orsini and Colonna. In order secure his new state, he had to seek out and eliminate his competition. With the help of his father, he was able to gain Romagna from Colonna by using force and some cruelty, and then allowed the country to be ran on its own. How Do Hurricanes Affect Southern Coastlines Over the course of humanity, there have been several notable types of disasters ranging from severe floods, earthquakes, tornados, fires, ice storms, bombings, tropical storms, and hurricanes. • 26. Gender Bias For Infiltrate Professional Industries Essay Allowing gender bias to infiltrate professional industries has many different effects, but one of the most problematic would be pay disparity. The gender discrimination that exists in our society today causes expansive wage gaps which favor men, and this is a problem that exists across all levels of working fields. There is a healthy amount of new studies being published every year that lay out the facts about what the gender wage gap looks like for the average American. One of the easiest ways to keep this conversation going is to compare these to the example of gender bias and discrimination that happen on a large stage, such as in Hollywood or the sports world. With the influence that these two monstrous industries have, the women who work within them are in excellent positions to speak out and challenge this issue that is too often pushed to the side. It is important to point out that being privileged does not exempt these ladies from the unfairness of the pay disparities, and their situations mirror and parallel those of the average working class American women as well. Gender discrimination and gender wage gaps are problems that need to be magnified in order to be eliminated. Most people are familiar with the saying that the American women make x amount of cents to a man s dollar. An example of irresponsible breeding is the use of puppy mills which then sell to the public and pet stores. It is strongly advised that people do not buy pets from stores because it promotes irresponsible breeding. Alumnium-based Adjuvants Produce Long-lasing Vaccinations 1.0 INTRODUCTION Aluminium based adjuvants have been used extensively to induce long lasting protective immunity through vaccination and billions of doses have been administered over the years (Lindblad, 2004). But reported incidences of toxicity and side effects of aluminium have raised concerns regarding their safety in childhood vaccines. These effects include minor local reactions such as pain and erythema, a nodule at the site of injection and systemic reactions which may entail fever, malaise, shivering, general aches and headache (Clements and Griffiths, 2002) and is one of the most common reasons for dropout rates, resulting in incomplete immunisation and hence suceptibility to various diseases (Aguado, 1993). A small proportion of vaccinated people also suffered from delayed onset of diffuse myalgia, chronic fatigue and cognitive dysfunction. In some persons, at site of intra muscular immunization, a granulomatous lesion called macrophagic myofasciitis (MMF) has also been observed. Clinical symptoms associated with MMF is recently delineated as autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA) (Gherardi and Authier, 2012). Despite of this fact, the choice of adjuvants for human vaccination still reflects a compromise between a requirement for adjuvancity and an acceptable level of side effects (Clements, 1996). DEVELOPMENT AND COMPOSITION OF MIDDLE EAR STRUCTURES OF BALAENOPTEROIDS (CETACEA, MYSTICETI): IMPLICATIONS ON FOSSIL CETACEAN PALEOECOLOGY AND BIOLOGY KERR, Tyler J., University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, United States, 82071 BACKGROUND Whales (Cetacea) are unique among mammals in that they possess exceptionally dense, pachyosteosclerotic tympanic bullae1. Along the margin of the bulla is a highly mineralized, extremely dense wall of bone called the involucrum that serves as a special adaptation to life in the sea and as a means to facilitate sound reception and directionality underwater2,3,4. Moreover, this cetacean synapomorphy plays an important role in distinguishing its members from the ancestral terrestrial artiodactyls from which whales diverged5. When cut into cross sections, the involucral region of the tympanic bullae in many mysticete (baleen whale) lineages reveals three easily distinguishable zones of concentric laminar growth. Here we hypothesize that these three distinct zones identified along the length of the tympanic bullae are capable of recording life history events during early development, when the cetacean tympanoperiotic region is known to be rapidly ossifying6. We propose that the innermost zone (1) represents rapid in utero growth, the intermediary zone (2) represents rapid birth and postnatal development, and the outermost zone (3), markedly thinner, represents slower, more lamellar development from weaning on through adulthood. • 40. Mark Twain Writing Style Analysis Mark Twain has a very unique writing style compared to the many other authors in the world. Growing up, his father had died due to pneumonia, so he quit school to work as a printer s apprentice with the Hannibal Journal to help support his family. Working at the Virginia City newspaper he began using his new famous pen name, Mark Twain. From there, he published his first book in 1869 known as, The Innocents Abroad. Mark Twain wrote many books that were inspired by his childhood, traveling frequently, and his time spent in the library educating himself. Twain has a style that no author will have as he wrote many of his books talking abouthis childhood. This attracts a lot of attention from readers as he actually had not had a father in his life. In the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, on page 134, it states, Yes, he s got a father, but you can t ever find him these days. This means that although he does have a father, it does not necessarily mean that he is in his life. Another childhood quote from the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was stated on page 156. It states, I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. Although Twain was required to attend school, he felt there was no substitute for educating himself through living life to the fullest. The first hand accounts that Twain experienced during his childhood helped mold his ideas and views of society. Another factor that influenced Twain s writing style was traveling frequently. ... • 41. American Anime Influence Anime films are cartoons, usually from Japan, with adult subject matter. Despite the prevailing American view that cartoons are for children, Japanese view anime as a legitimate art form that is appropriate for adult viewing. Anime subjects vary widely from soap opera drama, to medieval adventures, comedy and to science fiction. The fist anime ever televised was Tetsuwan Atomu it came out In 1963 as a television series. The english name for Tetsuwan Atomu was Astroboy . The next hit anime was Speed Racer In 1967. Tezuka s greatest work was Hi No Tori the english verzion was known as Phoenix 2772 . The success of Astroboy led to the overnight development of an Anime industry. This industry flooded with copycats, originals, and a mix of both that leads to what we see today. Over the next three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, the American industry shows anime five plus hour per day airing across multiple networks and cable channels. Oftentimes more mature titles where purchased for the US market but were edited to tone down the mature content as there still exists the stigma that animation is a children s medium and childrens mediaum has to be highly restricted in the content it shows. Many people disagree on whether these changes ruined or improved the anime however is widely acknowledged that they gave anime the one thing that it needed in order to make it in the American market: exposure. High exposure eventually leads to a larger fan base. Exposure leads people to ask or look for more, if we have 100 pokemon fans in 1998, and two years later we have about 75 Dragon ball Z fans, another two years later we have 45 lovers of Cowboy Bebop , Outlaw Star , Inuyasha , this leads us to a few hard core otaku . If the trend continues by 2010, we have an anime industry with accolades of fans swarming in unprecedented numbers, all because a few shows debuted on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Sn2 Reaction With 2-Bromobutane In this experiment, the purpose was to create and observe the effects of a S_N 1 reaction. Silver nitrate was dissolved in ethanol. The nitrate ion is a decent nucleophile, and ethanol is a fairly powerful solvent. The difference in a SN1 reaction than an SN2 reaction is that a carbocation is formed. The leaving group wants to leave on it s own, causing a multi step synthesis. The leaving group leaves, creating a carbocation. The nucleophile finds the carbocation and attaches itself to it. More substitution is preferred for SN1 reactions because the more stable a molecule is, the more stable the carbocation will be. The following mixtures were combined with the silver nitrate dissolved in ethanol: 2 chlorobutane, 2 bromobutane, 1 chlorobutane, 1 bromobutane, 2 chloro 2 methylpropane. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because chlorine is a poor leaving group, which is a critical characteristic of a SN1 reaction. The reaction with 2 bromobutane formed a dense precipitate. This is because there is a lot of stability present in this molecule and bromine is a good leaving group for the reaction. In test tube 3, the reaction with 1 chlorobutane did not form a precipitate. This is because chlorine is a poor leaving group and the molecule is primary, which means there s no steric hindrance, which is not ideal for a SN1 reaction. In test tube 4, the reaction with 1 bromobutane formed some cloudiness after heating. This should not have happened because there is no stability in this molecule. The cloudiness was more than likely due to some sort of cross contamination. Finally, in test tube 5, the reaction formed a very dense precipitate within the first couple seconds. This is because this molecule has the most steric hindrance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Diaphyseal Fractures DISCUSSION Most diaphyseal fractures in children are treated conservatively with plaster casting. Where acceptable closed reduction cannot be achieved or maintained in patients with completely unstable forearm fractures, surgical intervention is required7. Complete fractures were more frequently treated by surgical intervention, especially in older child with limited remodeling capacity8. The use of an external fixator9 is not seen as a first line treatment in management of forearm diaphyseal fractures in children10.The classic methods of open reduction with plating could offer anatomical reduction sparing the physis and could provide early mobilization of joints. Children of Broken Homes CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE This chapter presents the review of related literature and studies about broken homes and their effects to children s character. The review focuses on a number of different instruments used to prove that belonging to a broken family is the main cause for these children to possess strong character. The chapter begins with the definition of broken home, and then followed by its effects on the children. The struggles faced by these children, and their perspective in life are discussed. 2.1 RELATED LITERATURE 2.1.1 INTRODUCTION According to Collins Cobuild Advanced Dictionary of English, a home can refer to a family unit. It really brings kids down, when they come home and see that their parents are fighting. Children of broken families may go on to have commitment issues. Children from broken families are nearly five times more likely to suffer damaging mental troubles than those whose parents stay together, government research has found. It also showed that two parents are much better than one if children are to avoid slipping into emotional distress and anti social behavior. The findings say that children s family background are as important if not more so than whether their home is poor, workless, has bad health, or has no one with any educational qualifications. 2.2.5 POSSIBLE EFFECTS TO THESE CHILDREN 2.2.5.1 EMOTIONAL ASPECT 2.2.5.1.1 BEING INDEPENDENT Children from broken families nowadays choose to live their life worth it. Because the child has no parents to lean on, they stand by themselves and hold on to something which will make their lives better. This shows that even if children suffered from a traumatizing event, they still managed to recover and help themselves alone which makes them an independent person, a better person in the community. Youth from broken homes need love and acceptance. They need an accepting environment where they feel wanted, a sense of belonging and know the joy of being involved in a stable and secure peer group. • 47. Positive Changes in the Quality of Life for Woman in Morocco In recent years, Morocco has made positive changes to the rights and quality of life for women. These changes include educational opportunities, use of contraception, more public participation, and greater participation in the paid workforce. With the persistence of patriarchy, the presence of religion, and the current spotlight on the Middle East, life of Muslim women still remains invisible. It is valuable to explore the ways in which Muslim women explain their place in society today. Many feminist movements in Morocco parallel those in the western world and create several notable achievements on behalf of human and women s rights. At the political and social level, there are signs that conditions for women are changing. Social organizations, which encourage women s rights, are becoming more popular and influential. During the last part of the 19th century continuing through the 20th century women in well off classes had access to feminist ideas and developed the first period of feminism in Morocco. After the independence period of the 1940s the Moroccan palace created the Feminism of State. Although more of a silent representation rather than an active transformer it paved way for more active forms of feminism in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1969 the National Union of Moroccan Women was created and the Moroccan Association of Familiar Planning began in 1971. These organizations began the second feminist generation and movement, which moved through the 1980s and focused on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
