America s Role in the World Trade Organization Debate...
America s Role in the World Trade Organization Debate Over China
The open question on Chinese accession, both in the WTO and in China itself, is whether China is
more likely to adopt and sustain economic reforms if it is granted early membership or if membership
is delayed until policy reforms are undertaken. (Schott 40, 1996)
I. Introduction
This observation from Jeffery Schott of the Institute for International Economics captures the essence
of the China World Trade Organization debate in America and the world today. China s unprecedented
economic growth has put it at the forefront of the US trade agenda. America s is the biggest economy
and China s is the most populous nation, in terms of sheer number of people. To ... Show more content

(To see full text of his The Wealth of Nations, click here.) His stance on this issue, were he alive today,
can be expressed through a simple syllogism. Adam Smith supports open trade and opposes
mercantilism as a state s national economic policy. (More about Adam Smith) China acceding to the
WTO would force it to open its market and diminish if not eliminate most of its protective policies.
Therefore, Adam Smith would encourage the United States to push for China s accession to the WTO.
The United States has much to gain from an easily accessible, transparent Chinese economy of 1.2
billion consumers. America, though, is determined to obtain certain market opening concessions and
promises from China before its formal accession, and is equally determined to define China s status as
a developed nation rather than developing going into the WTO. A nation s status upon admittance,
developed or developing, carries very significant implications for the applicant. The status of China
will determine the timetable for its obligations and liberalizations. This, too, will be touched on in
greater detail again, but the basic argument is as follows: China wants to accede as a developing
country, as this would give China much more time in adjusting to the WTO demands and in
dismantling its protective barriers. The United States, however, because it wants quicker access to
China s markets and faster reforms on China s part, is pushing

Why Is Schindler s List Considered A Hero
Course Project: Schindler s List Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg is a heroic epic historical film
based on the life of Oskar Schindler, a businessman who staffs his factory with Jewish workers for
pragmatic purposes. The SS begins exterminating Jews in the Krakow ghetto; Schindler decides to
have his works be protected by keeping them working in a factory. Schindler realizes that in protecting
so, he has saved the life s of hundreds of innocent lives. Although Schindler s list has won several
awards, many critics oppose on how the director capture the events of the Holocaust. One of the
opposition to Schindler s list was dramatic sentimentality the film had. The film was lengthening in
developing the plot of the story by using dramatic sympathy scenes, which according to a critic was
displease with. The film being capture in black and white did not nostalgia a historical moment.
According to the critic, The problem with Spielberg s characterizations is that people are either black
or white, no inbetweens are allowed. But even old Adolph can be presented in a way that ... Show

In the film the Nazi s are portrayed as immoral beings, while Schindler was portrayed as a hero.
Realistically, Schindler was a Nazi himself who did any means to protect his name and life. According
to the critic, Schindler had saved his fellow friends and family; therefore, he could have managed to
save more Jews that he initially achieved. He profited from the Jews slave labor just as much as they
profited off his humanity. I m not saying that Schindler wasn t a good man for saving the many Jews
that he did, I m just saying lets not go overboard with the exaggeration. The critic goes further into
explain that her grandfather served in the war verses German, which opened her eyes into this film
being purely fictional. The exaggeration of protecting Schindler s legacy goes

Sexualized Trauma Case Study
The proposed research is into the experience of women using nature therapy to heal trauma from
sexualized assault or abuse. Research Purpose Research problem To understand the experience of
women using nature therapy to heal sexualized trauma. Research questions How does nature therapy
assist women with experience of sexual abuse or assault? How do you spend time in nature? What
aspects of being in a natural environment facilitate the healing process for these women? What aspects
of being in a natural environment inhibit the healing process? What advice would the women give to
others about using nature for healing from sexualized trauma? Theoretical context Firstly, humans

The researcher will attempt to develop a working hypothesis to generalize about the situation of using
nature therapy to heal from sexualized trauma and how that is achieved. Sample size and type This
study will include up to 10 women. Other details about participants include: women or people who
identify as female (transsexual woman will be invited); women aged 18 75, with preference of mean
age of under 45, assuming that mobility and time in nature will be reduced as women age. Sexual
orientation will not be an issue however asexual women may not be included as the researcher is
interested in improving sexual health including a preference to being sexually active at least at some
time in the future. Women will be recruited within Calgary or within a 50 km radius in order to
facilitate a face to face interview. Ethnic preference is for 6 European, 1 aboriginal, 3 visible
minorities such as Asian, black, or Arab to reflect the population mix of Calgary. Their religious
affiliation information will be collected but it will not be used as part of the selection criteria. Women
who are already known to the researcher on a personal relationship level will be excluded to avoid a
dual relationship, however acquaintances such as social media friends may be

The Critique Of The Film Casablanca
The three time Academy Award winning film Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film
directed by Michael Curtiz a well known director for his wonderful production. The film finished with
a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and 100% Metacritic. Dispite the film being
made up of uncertainty and drama, it was completed on August 3rd 1942 and released in the United
States on January 23rd 1943. Before naming the film Casablanca it was named Everybody comes to
Ricks which was an unproduced film by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison. On the way to New York in
1941, story editor Irene Diamond found the unproduced play and convinced producer Hal Wallis to
buy the rights in January 1942 for $20,000. Wallis agreed to buy out the film ... Show more content on

They enjoyed the view of the nightclub that they went too that night and had to idea to make it into a
film as it was a great setting. Because they renamed the film, parts of the script had to be re written.
The first writers on the script were twin brothers who left the film for another opportunity in 1942 and
the other credited writer, Howard Koch was hired. He wrote around thirty to forty pages for the script
but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the brothers re write the
script. Both writers, still worked writing for the film even though some work was not to be used. At
the end of the production, the brothers earned $30, 416 and Koch earned $4, 200. After shooting at
been completed, Wallis called Bogard into set for the final line he had written as he thought the ending
was not done properly. The line Wallis had written Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful
friendship, made the ending of the film have a lot more sense. In spite of having many writers, one
writer describes the script as a wonderfully unified and consistent script. The film ran into some
trouble with Joseph Breen of the Production Code Administration due to having sexual scenes and
vulgar language in the film. When they came across any sexual scenes or vulgar words, they would

Immigrant Fatalities on the Mexican-American Border Essay
The deaths in the border between Mexico and the United states have been increasing rapidly in the
past decade. The fatalities have doubled since 1998 due to the increase of borders patrol and border
militarization. The result is the redistribution of the migratory flow to more dangerous and remote
areas such as southern Arizona. Even though the number of immigrants who try to cross the border
has decreased, the number of fatalities continues to increase. Immigrants will not stop coming unless
the situation in their countries changes and with a more protected border, they will look for more
remote areas to try to cross. We are experiencing the largest numbers of fatalities in the border
between Mexico and the United States. The increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And also why are the governments doing to solve this issue.
What causes a person to leave their hometown, families, friends and everything they know to go on a
deadly trip in hope of a better life. Well the poor living conditions, drug wars, kidnapins, and the hope
of a better life leads people to take such a dangerous trip. In his book, Urrea provides a clear example
of a small town in Veracruz Mexico and what causes may push people to begin a dangerous trip to the
Unites States. Urrea describes: In Veracruz, thing weren t going well. The people were killing
themselves working the ranchos on the outskirts. The fisherman couldn t catch enough protein in the
sea. The cane cutters couldn t cut enough cane... But it was mostly the collapse of the coffee prices
(Urrea 44). In general, the whole economic system of these towns in Mexico has gone badly in the
past years. People cannot survive fishing or growing coffee anymore like they used to in the past and
the hope of a better life in the United States is their last option. Many of these people have never left
their hometowns therefore they do not imagine what the world is like outside their towns. If these
people do not know the life outside their towns, it is imaginable that they are not aware of the
dangerous desert that waits for them in southern Arizona. That is the reason why so many people die
in the desert is because they do

Political Structure Of Persepolis
The old Persian city of Persepolis is located in the Fars province of modern day Iran. Persian had a
very diverse number of land formations, ranging from plateaus, rainforests, plains, deserts, and
mountain ranges which each hold a unique balance of flora and fauna, and a climate that measures
from hot and dry to moist and tropical. In a way, Persepolis depended on its surrounding ecosystems
to help support its growth and prosperity. It was located near a dry land called the Marvdasht Plain and
also close to the moist peaks of the Zagros Mountains, and it s a piece of the Kur River Basin. Even
the climate of the areas near Persepolis affected its business. For example, during the Iranian winter,
the landscape would become murky and would be unable to navigate through. However, during the
spring and summer seasons, the areas surrounding Persepolis would be clear and crossable, allowing
the city to proceed in its everyday activity. Through vigorous research by archaeologists, it has been
revealed that Darius I was responsible for a great amount of structures and periods of construction of
Persepolis. In the time period that Darius I was working on Persepolis was in the years 518 490 B.C.
(First period of construction) During the first phase of the construction of Persepolis, the monumental
terrace was built, with the Apadana audience hall, and finally including the Treasury building
complete with stairs on the eastern side that are used as an access point. Kings followed

Research Paper On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Tripti Pandey Mrs. Dillon English 7/8 12 April 2017 The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire As time
goes by, everything is evolving: from machines to people. However, evolution does not simply occur,
it is caused. On March 25, 1911, the triangle shirtwaist factory (brown building) burned down, taking
146 innocent people s lives with it (Fire, par. 3). These lives could have been saved by the two owners
of the Brown Building, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. If they had just taken a few basic precautions,
such as supplying a sufficient amount of water to different parts of the building, these people may
have been spared (Sweatshops and Strikes, par. 2). The deaths of these innocent workers provoked an
uprising towards the factories. The Triangle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, workers of any age were permitted, as long as they worked (Staff, par. 2). Before leaving
the building, workers had to pass through the only backdoor, which was down a narrow passageway,
which was supposed to prevent robberies (Staff, par. 2). There were also many safety hazards that the
owners slyly kept away from the eyes of the City Council members. There were only two slim fire
escapes while there should have been three wide ones, and there were only a couple buckets of water
given to throw at the event of a fire(Leap for Life, Leap of Death, par. 6). At the time of the fire, the
fire department realized that there was a lot more that the owners could have done to prevent this
accident. As an after effect of the fire, many rules were put into place in New York to prevent fires
from happening in similar circumstances. A major law that was put into place is the Occupational
Safety and Health act or OSHA (Korasick, par. 1). This law states that employees working in factories
should not be exposed to anything harmful, should not have terrible working conditions, and that
workplaces of factory employees need to be sanitary (Epa, 1). If the fire had not occurred, factories
would still, under many circumstances, be

Maus Survival
Maus is a graphic novel, written by Art Spiegelman, recollecting the events and exploring the effects
of the Holocaust upon his father, Vladek Spiegelman. He and his extended family hid and avoided
concentration camps inside of Poland until 1944. His survival is a balance of luck and genuine
resourcefulness, but it leans more on the side of resourcefulness. He remained hidden for most of the
war using his intellect, and wealth. Once caught he used his resourcefulness to get around the camps
and be under the wings of Germans. His life was passed around like change, being dropped and lost,
but always shiny enough for someone to pick up and use. His survival was that of the nickels and

Whether An Individual Dances For Fun Or They Dance...
Whether an individual dances for fun or they dance competitively, dancing is a great way to meet new
people and build relationships. Genre Analysis: English in Academic and Research Settings, a book
written by John M. Swales, elaborates on discourse communities and the six characteristics of these
communities. A discourse community is a group of people who share certain language using
practices... to extent discourse community borrows from the literacy critical concept of interpretive
community (Swales 29). The six characteristics of a discourse community are: shared goals, forms of
intercommunication, mechanisms that provide feedback, methods of communicating to individuals

Social media plays an immense role in our communication between the group. Facebook is used to
view pictures and videos of the performances, and to view the itinerary for the day. Twitter is used for
the teammates to ask questions to fellow teammates if they either deem it too personal or
embarrassing for the group texts. The team uses group texts for information, to ask general questions,
send funny pictures, and basically to get to know each other and talk. We are like a second family so it
would be a bit bizarre to be around each other for at least fifteen hours a week and not develop some
type of relationship. Our methods of intercommunication qualifies my group a discourse community.
The third reason why my group is a discourse community is because we have multiple forms of
feedback to improve performance. The most utilized form of feedback are the videos that are recorded
of our performances. By recording our performances, the choreographer and the rest of the team can
view items that need to be fixed. Some examples of fixable items include technique, counts or count
structure, and performance. To perform means the dancer is engaging with the audience, smiling (or
portraying the character assigned), and having their chin up. Even if the dancer is nervous during a
performance, having their chin up can give off the illusion that they are confident in what they are
doing. Another form of feedback that is utilized are the judges. The judges

Essay on Machiavelli and the Roman Empire
Machiavelli argued, as Hegel would later, that one must look to history and the accounts of previous
nations events in order to quot;sense...that flavor that they have in themselves quot; in common with
those from the past (Discourses 6). This seems to follow the adage that those who do not learn from
history are doomed to repeat it, yet for Machiavelli he seems more concerned with actually emulating
history in order to repeat success than looking out for particular things to avoid. For this reason, he
pulls examples from an eclectic range of histories in order to demonstrate how his principles in both

Starting out as a principality, one prince after the other begins to quot;surpass the others in
sumptuousness and lasciviousness, quot; prompting the people to overthrow him to rid themselves of
his tyranny. An aristocracy, which Machiavelli means as a rule of the Good, then takes control, but
shortly thereafter they too succumb to the temptation of exploiting their power. Again, the masses
must usurp the rule of the few and, still remembering what events had transpired in the past, they keep
the power for themselves and establish a popular state. In spite of their good intentions, the people
soon find they can t keep a firm control on the populace ( quot;a thousand injuries were done every
day quot;) so they regress to a principality. Such a sequence of events would likely go on ad infinitum
if the transitions didn t weaken the state to such a degree that its lasting one complete turn of the cycle
is less likely than becoming quot;subject to a neighboring state that is ordered better than it quot;
(Discourse 11 13). The history of France during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is exemplary
of how a state, fortunate to not have been overtaken, will cycle through different types of rule due to
the eventual erosion

How Does Maria Develop
Maria is the main character of the musical, The Sound of Music . The Sound of Music is a Broadway

the Trapp Family Singers . People of the world liked the story very much, and the movie won the

In the beginning of the story, Maria is introduced as a sister in Nonnberg Abbey, Salzburg, Astria.
Unlike other sisters, She loved to go to the hill behind the Nonnberg Abbey. Even though she caused a
lot of trouble and not everyone s favorite, the other sisters tried to treat her nicely. One day, Mother

her personality. So she called Maria to her and told her that she decided to let Maria be the governess
of the seven children of Captain George von Trapp s family.

The Moral And Ethical Ethics Of Tyco
Introduction
This paper is about the lack of moral and ethical leadership of Tyco International s former highest paid
chief executive officer (CEO) Dennis Kozlowski (Kaplan, 2009). Tyco International is a business
leader in Global Fire Safety and Security Solutions. Tyco s United States headquarters are in
Princeton, New Jersey and the Corporate Headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. According to
Kaplan (2009), over a decade, Dennis Kozlowski was a charismatic and ambitious CEO who had
earned the nickname Deal a Day Dennis because of his notorious business decisions including
aggressive and speedy acquisitions. Dennis was a leader determined to make Tyco the greatest
company and succeeded well in transforming it from a $1.5 billion manufacturer into an industrial
corporation worth more than $100 billion (Kaplan, 2009).
Ethical issues
In June 2002, Kozlowski was accused by the Manhattan district attorney Robert Morgenthau, of
evading $1 million in sales tax on the purchase of rare artwork (Timeline of the Tyco International
scandal, 2005). This investigation opened up a can of worms indicting Kozlowski along with Tyco s
former chief financial officer (CFO) Mark H. Swartz of looting millions of dollars from the company,
misconstruing financial records and doctoring business records (Brickey, 2008). In September 2002,
Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170 million dollars from Tyco and
swindling $430 million in the sale of company shares.

Woman At Point Zero By Nawal El Saadawi
Nawal El Saadawi s novel, Woman at Point Zero, can be considered to be a rebellion against
authoritarian political and patriarchal structures because it tells of Firdaus life story in way that shows
an obvious discontent with the way society views women and the way it glorifies aspects that go again
societal norms. Saadawi places a large emphasis on the descriptions of eyes in the novel to express
Firdaus feelings towards certain characters. Firdaus starts out having a happy childhood, when she is
cared for and loved by her mother. She describes her mother s eyes in this way, They were eyes that I

description signifies the change in emotions that Firdaus feels for her mother, just like how her
feelings for her teacher and Ibrahim are eventually altered as well. The manner in which Firdaus
describes traumatic events that occur within her childhood serves as a form of rebellion against the
society in which she grew up. One event that drastically changes Firdaus life is her clitoridectomy.
This surgery is performed when she is a child and without her consent. It causes her to lose feelings of

not using the same economic policies that created the current conditions of the economy. Their
philosophy is that if we stay the current course the economy would somehow miraculously recover

Consumer Income: Consumer income is an estimate of household income and is the government s
way of determining the median income of families; obviously the income is a key indicator of
consumer confidence. According to new data derived from the monthly Current Population Survey
(CPS) and ERSI, real median annual household income decreased by 7.9 % between 2010 and 2012,
from $54,442 to $50,157 (Smartblog.org, 2012). The current decline in consumer income comes after
four consecutive monthly decreases in real median annual household income. The annual household
income suggested that the Population Survey report takes into account that some information reflects
modifications made as part of annual benchmarking adjustments to compensate for missing data
needed to complete the survey. The report also suggests that the economy will continue to struggle
slightly despite some encouraging news on unemployment (Smartblo.org, 2012). But it is expected
that the median household income will increase by 13.4% or $56,895 by 2017 as the economy
improve. Interest rates: Interest rates are the most important relative prices of an economy. These
influence the decisions of investors and consumers. They also determine the level of income and
employment in an economy. They are indicators that guide consumers when they should invest and
when they should save. Interest rates determine the present and future consumption. If these are set at

Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development Model
A Study on Tuckman s Stages of Group Development Model
1. Introduction
Over the past two decades, it seems that teamwork has become increasingly important and more
companies have formed different teams and groups for various purposes (Samson Daft, 2012). It is
proved that good teams can be highly productive, however, not every team is successful (Samson
Daft, 2012). Forming a team can be time consuming and there are many problems related to
teamwork, for example, social loafing might reduce the effectiveness of a team. Therefore, it is crucial
to know how to develop a good team with less time and less effort. Bruce Tuckman in 1965 developed
the popular model for effective team building. This model identifies four stages of team building
which are forming, storming, norming and performing (Tuckman, 1965). Later on, Tuckman added a
fifth stage: adjourning to the model (Samson Daft, 2012). The five stage team development model
provides a guideline on how team works by using simple and easily understandable words. However,
there are some limitations of this theory as well. This paper in the following will discuss both the
utility and the limitations of Tuckman s team development stage model. Then it will provide some
suggestions based on the limitations of the model.

Essay On Pregnancy Disability Leave
C. Pregnancy Disability Leave
Under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), if you are disabled by pregnancy,
childbirth or related medical conditions, you are eligible to take a pregnancy disability leave (PDL),
which is an unpaid leave. If you are affected by pregnancy or a related medical condition, you are also
eligible for reasonable accommodation (such as more frequent breaks) and/or to transfer to a less
strenuous or hazardous position or to less strenuous or hazardous duties, if medically advisable
because of your pregnancy. A pregnant employee has these rights, regardless of length of employment

I Was Driving Home From School Essay
I was driving home from school when all the sudden I see a light flashing on the dash of my car. It was
the oil light telling me that it was time to have an oil change, so instead of driving home I went
straight to the toyota dealership because at the time I drove a Toyota Landcruiser. When I got there
they handed me a clipboard full of information i needed to fill out. It took me a full ten minutes to
complete and even after all that they still handed me more papers to write my signature on, I thought
to myself, all that for a simple oil change . After finally completing all the paperwork a man took me
to the dealerships waiting room and told me that my oil change should not take long. I was happy to
hear that because I wanted to be on my way. I only expected to be there for 25 to 30 minutes, so after
20 minutes I started looking at the door hoping someone would walk in and tell me they finished the
oil change. Ten minutes later and still nothing. I was getting very impatient and I was starting to work
an appetite. The worst part is they had the food channel on and no remote for me to change the
channel with, so i got up and went to go find a vending machine. Near the car displays they had a
popcorn machine so i scooped myself a small bag full. The popcorn was super salty and stale and what
made it even worse was there was no water to be found. So now i m sitting back in the waiting room
hungry and thirsty with a bag of uneaten popcorn, and still no word about my car. A

Comparing Porter s Granny Weatherall And A Rose For Emily
Thoughts Before Death: Analysis on Granny Weatherall and A Rose for Emily Granny weatherall and
Emily are similar in their obsession over the past, their position as a relic of the past, and their
insanity, yet they differ in their drive. Granny weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter is a story about an
elderly woman in the last day of her life. She reflects on her life and the various events that made her
who she is. She is annoyed by her doctor, who she considers a incompetent because he is young. She
also is perturbed by her daughter, Cornelia, for she is too obedient and earnest. Granny Weatherall is a

Virgil Portrays The Main Female Characters Of The Aeneid
Virgil portrays the main female characters of the Aeneid as stubborn, selfish individuals who
manipulate those around them to accomplish their goals. As seen throughout the first six books of the
poem, Juno acts against Aeneas because he is destined to found Rome and destroy Carthage a city
dear to her heart. Juno also disrupts the order in the mortal world because she is still hurt about the
time when Paris, a Trojan male, does not recognize her as the most gorgeous woman on earth. Virgil
also portrays Venus as obstructive and self centered because her goal is to ensure that somebody from
her lineage founds Rome so that she can receive worship for such accomplishment. Due to this
behavior, one can argue that the women of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juno s action is a clear obstruction to the human world, but more importantly to the task that Aeneas is
to undertake, and thus, to politics . Virgil s depiction of women is not only that they act on selfish
desires, but also that they make life unnecessarily complicated overall. Before Juno convinces Aeolus
to summon the winds of destruction, Aeneas has a clear path to Italy; however, due to Juno, he is
forced off his path, and the founding of Rome is in jeopardy. The other important female figure Venus,
the goddess of love attempts to cover up her selfish desires when she pretends to worry about Aeneas
safety and well being when all she desires is for someone from her lineage to found Rome so that she
can get praise. This is depicted when Jupiter tells Venus, My Cytherea, that s enough of fear; your
children s fate is firm; you ll surely see the walls I promised you, Lavinium s city; and you shall carry
your great son, Aeneas, high as heaven s stars (Virgil 1: 358 362). Venus is so obsessed with making
sure Aeneas arrives in Italy safely so that he can found Rome that she obstructs the order in the human
world by making Queen Dido fall in love with Aeneas. This is evident when Virgil reveals Venus s
plan: ... Cupid, changed in form and feature... inflame the queen to madness and insinuate a fire in
Dido s very bones (Virgil

Graeco-Roman Tragedies
Lord, what fools these mortals be! The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those
who think. A tragedy is a tragedy, and at the bottom, all tragedies are stupid. Give me a choice and I ll
take A Midsummer Night s Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working
set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people
laugh. The combination of William Shakespeare, Horace Walpole, and Steven King run together to
speak on the topic of comedies. We as human beings, being social creatures, have a need to laugh. We
find many things humours, and there are many types of comedies, as well as uses for the comedies we
make. There are many different forms of comedy from many different time periods which all fall
within three overarching sections; verbal, physical, and literary.
The first of these, literary, takes different forms over time. The majority can be described as Graeco
Roman, Shakespearean, and new age satire. Each of these categories could continue to expand with
the different stylistic elements of each, but we will explore the major points of each. The Greeks and
the Romans were the first to discover many of the things we use day to day, including the begins of
comedies.
The Graeco Roman style comedies took two major forms of comedy. That comedy sprang up and took
shape in connection with Dionysiac and Phallic ritual has never been doubted, (Arnold,

Which was very confusing to me because at first seeing the image you don t think of any of the five
senses. The image looks like a typical painting from the middle ages depicting religion. But as
Professor Eric Palazzo went along explaining his reasoning it all fit in place. The illustration shows
what looks like a deacon or priest holding the incense looking like he s waving across the table. But it
is not the deacon but Christ. It was very confusing to me at first to understand how the deacon was
christ and why was he incensing the table. He explained that the deacon using the incense he become
Christ and sees through smelling the incense connecting to the image above which is not two separate
image but one, the image above being Jesus. The men watching the deacon is like them seeing Christ
there the incest. Also, the image of the bells represented the hearing sense. People hearing the
harmony of the church. The other two senses are very simple to explain in the painting the taste sense
can be explained by the wine in the painting. The last sense being touch is everywhere in the painting.

Urban Environment is the natural, built and institutional elements that determine the physical, mental

The urban environment is more than a physically defined entity. It includes the environmental and
ecological context, psycho social structures and supports, and patterns of migration as well as all
aspects of the geography and politics of cities. Hence, governance arrangements, cultural identities
and related activities, housing and urban form, education, food security, health services, land use and

dimensions of urban life that are properly included in a focus on health in a changing urban

The Importance Of Long Distance Relationships
Everyone has different ideas of what a long distance relationship is; to some it may mean being on
opposite sides of a state, country, or even the world. It seems that as the miles between two partners
increases the strain on their relationship and communication increases as well. In recent years the
number of long distance relationships have experienced a steady increase, focusing mostly around
relationships between college aged partners. According to the McKinnel s Paradigm (1994) as
mentioned in Extended Communication Efforts Involved With College Long Distance Relationships ,
nearly one third of students in college or universities are involved in some form of a relationship
involving distance defined by a 50 mile radius (Firmin, Firmin, Merical, 2013). College aged partners
are not the only ones that interact with the struggles of a long distance relationship; many military and
immigrant partnerships also face the strain of finding fulfilling modes of communication.
Communication is one of the foundational building blocks of any relationship. When distance is
factored into the communicative properties of a relationship, the relationship tends to suffer. As time
and technology have advanced, this communicative downfall has become more manageable for any
type of relationship.

proximal relationships as well as concepts surrounding stressors and the influence distance can

Discuss the production and trafficking of drugs i.e., heroin, cocaine, and crack, and how the
trafficking relates to the criminal enterprise. Discuss the criminal justice systems role in the fight

Cocaine, crack, and heroin are three of the most abused illegal drugs in the United States. There are
some forms of cocaine that are used for medicinal purposes. Cocaine is shipped from South America
by drug cartels, mainly from Peru, Bolivia and Colombia. Drug cartels (coalitions or agreements

Crack, or rock is more addictive than powder cocaine and heroin. Robin Haslam (2013), Director of

Kate Chopin s An Hour
Author Kate Chopin is famous for some of the most influential feminist stories and novels in the
Western canon. The Story of an Hour is one such text. In this story, Chopin tackles many of the
concerns that are essential to feminism, including the willpower and expression of a woman s
distinctive identity separate from the identity of her husband and the right of a woman to identify and
experience her own interests. While there is an aspect of this story that is provocative, namely, that
Mrs. Mallard feels excited after learning that her husband has died, the reader can empathize with
Mrs. Mallard s feelings and support her.
Critics on Kate Chopin seem to focus their criticism on her themes and particular text than her overall
writing skills. One popular book for critics seems to be her novel The Awakening. The book is now

subject matter (Stripe). One critic deems it not a healthy book, and another determine that it leaves one
sick of human nature. One writer even said the language to describe the story was not fit for

Economic Reform Through International Financial Institutions
Over three fourths of African states have pursued programs of economic reform through international
financial institutions such as the IMF and World Bank. These financial institutions are centred in
western states and push western ideas of economic structures, such as liberalization. Programs of
economic reform enacted by these institutions have been viewed as a dominant source of influence, or
power, over African economic policy formulation. These institutions are not only using the power of
knowledge and the worlds acceptance of liberalization, produced by western schools of thought, these
economy reforms also display the interconnectedness of economic, political and social power. It
appears when African countries release one form of power the other two are relinquished as well. This
paper will argue that because of western IR s brand of knowledge, which promotes liberal economic
ideals, especially the belief that free trade benefits all, the west is able to justify its intervening in
foreign economies. Western IR s monopoly over knowledge hold a powerful position where they
posses both the power to define issues impeding upon developing countries and the position to act as
the selfless savior assisting these countries. They are not truly assisting as much of their actions
benefit western countries more than the country receiving help. This will be seen through examining
the case of aid, particularly structural adjustment programs in Africa. The specific case study that

Critical Analysis Of Symphonie Fantastique
During the Romanic period, there were many advances in regards to instrumentation, and the size of a
typical orchestra increased in size and range, adding in more instruments to the wind, brass and
percussion sections. Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz, was no exception, and was written for
an extensive orchestra of 220 players, including, piccolos, flutes, oboes, horns, clarinets, bassoons,
cornets, trumpets, trombones, tuba (or ophicleides), timpani, bells, a wide variety of percussion, bells,
violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Through this symphony, various instruments have
programmatic purposes to develop the scene, such as the pizzicato strings in the 4th movement,
representing the head bouncing after he was decapitated, and the clarinet in E flat and bassoons in the
5th movement, depicting bubbles rising in a cauldron.
Both movements 4 and 5 were through composed, featuring various musical fragments and themes.
Movement 4 features two key themes in addition to the idée fixe, whilst Movement 5 centred around 3
musical themes; the Beloved (Harriet), the Great Shout, and the Fearsome Crowd. An idée fixe is a
melodic fragment that returns throughout, and in Symphonie Fantastique, it references the Beloved,
Harriet, and varies in rhythm, tempo, metre, instrumentation and harmony throughout to change the
character. In the 4th movement, he is getting taken to the scaffolds. The solo clarinet plays it from beat

Why Is John Wayne A Good Role Model
John Wayne
One of the most famous western movie stars in the mid 1900 s, John Wayne did not let his small
beginnings stop him from reaching his goals. He worked long and hard to reach his place in history as
the western star he was, and still is today. John Wayne s hard work, determination, and the ability to
achieve his goals, made him a great actor, person, and role model.
John Wayne s original name was Marion Robert Morrison, who was born on May 26, 1907, in

brother, Robert Morrison. His father, Clyde, developed a lung condition that required him to move his
family to the warmer climates of California when John was just seven. Clyde started ranching and
farming in the Mojave Desert, but did not succeed. The family moved again, to Glendale, California
where his father opened a pharmacy, in which John helped manage in the summer. He also did many
strange jobs to earn money, such as trucker s helper and delivery boy.
John had a famous nickname, Duke. This nickname came from the family dog, an Airedale, named,
Duke. John and Duke spent so much time together; people started calling
Ussery 2 them, Big and Little Duke. Sadly, in 1926, his parents divorced, John stayed with his father,
Clyde.
In school, John excelled in school and at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first film he made was Angel and Barman in 1947. He operated two different production

starred in Red River, directed by Howard Ford. This film helped him show people his skills as not just
a western hero, but as an actor. He played a troubled cattleman named Tom Dunson and took on a
more serious and darker character. At this time, John Wayne was also receiving praise from the film,
Fort Apache, in which he starred with Shirley Temple and Henry

  • 2. America s Role in the World Trade Organization Debate... America s Role in the World Trade Organization Debate Over China The open question on Chinese accession, both in the WTO and in China itself, is whether China is more likely to adopt and sustain economic reforms if it is granted early membership or if membership is delayed until policy reforms are undertaken. (Schott 40, 1996) I. Introduction This observation from Jeffery Schott of the Institute for International Economics captures the essence of the China World Trade Organization debate in America and the world today. China s unprecedented economic growth has put it at the forefront of the US trade agenda. America s is the biggest economy and China s is the most populous nation, in terms of sheer number of people. His stance on this issue, were he alive today, can be expressed through a simple syllogism. Adam Smith supports open trade and opposes mercantilism as a state s national economic policy. (More about Adam Smith) China acceding to the WTO would force it to open its market and diminish if not eliminate most of its protective policies. The status of China will determine the timetable for its obligations and liberalizations. This, too, will be touched on in greater detail again, but the basic argument is as follows: China wants to accede as a developing country, as this would give China much more time in adjusting to the WTO demands and in dismantling its protective barriers. The United States, however, because it wants quicker access to China s markets and faster reforms on China s part, is pushing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Is Schindler s List Considered A Hero Course Project: Schindler s List Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg is a heroic epic historical film based on the life of Oskar Schindler, a businessman who staffs his factory with Jewish workers for pragmatic purposes. The SS begins exterminating Jews in the Krakow ghetto; Schindler decides to have his works be protected by keeping them working in a factory. Schindler realizes that in protecting so, he has saved the life s of hundreds of innocent lives. Although Schindler s list has won several awards, many critics oppose on how the director capture the events of the Holocaust. One of the opposition to Schindler s list was dramatic sentimentality the film had. The film was lengthening in developing the plot of the story by using dramatic sympathy scenes, which according to a critic was displease with. The film being capture in black and white did not nostalgia a historical moment. According to the critic, The problem with Spielberg s characterizations is that people are either black or white, no inbetweens are allowed. But even old Adolph can be presented in a way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the film the Nazi s are portrayed as immoral beings, while Schindler was portrayed as a hero. Realistically, Schindler was a Nazi himself who did any means to protect his name and life. Persian had a very diverse number of land formations, ranging from plateaus, rainforests, plains, deserts, and mountain ranges which each hold a unique balance of flora and fauna, and a climate that measures from hot and dry to moist and tropical. In a way, Persepolis depended on its surrounding ecosystems to help support its growth and prosperity. It was located near a dry land called the Marvdasht Plain and also close to the moist peaks of the Zagros Mountains, and it s a piece of the Kur River Basin. There were also many safety hazards that the owners slyly kept away from the eyes of the City Council members. There were only two slim fire escapes while there should have been three wide ones, and there were only a couple buckets of water given to throw at the event of a fire(Leap for Life, Leap of Death, par. 6). • 20. Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development Model A Study on Tuckman s Stages of Group Development Model 1. Introduction Over the past two decades, it seems that teamwork has become increasingly important and more companies have formed different teams and groups for various purposes (Samson Daft, 2012). It is proved that good teams can be highly productive, however, not every team is successful (Samson Daft, 2012). Forming a team can be time consuming and there are many problems related to teamwork, for example, social loafing might reduce the effectiveness of a team. Therefore, it is crucial to know how to develop a good team with less time and less effort. Bruce Tuckman in 1965 developed the popular model for effective team building. This model identifies four stages of team building which are forming, storming, norming and performing (Tuckman, 1965). Later on, Tuckman added a fifth stage: adjourning to the model (Samson Daft, 2012). The five stage team development model provides a guideline on how team works by using simple and easily understandable words. However, there are some limitations of this theory as well. Ten minutes later and still nothing. I was getting very impatient and I was starting to work an appetite. The worst part is they had the food channel on and no remote for me to change the channel with, so i got up and went to go find a vending machine. Near the car displays they had a popcorn machine so i scooped myself a small bag full. The popcorn was super salty and stale and what made it even worse was there was no water to be found. Virgil Portrays The Main Female Characters Of The Aeneid Virgil portrays the main female characters of the Aeneid as stubborn, selfish individuals who manipulate those around them to accomplish their goals. As seen throughout the first six books of the poem, Juno acts against Aeneas because he is destined to found Rome and destroy Carthage a city dear to her heart. Juno also disrupts the order in the mortal world because she is still hurt about the time when Paris, a Trojan male, does not recognize her as the most gorgeous woman on earth. Virgil also portrays Venus as obstructive and self centered because her goal is to ensure that somebody from her lineage founds Rome so that she can receive worship for such accomplishment. Juno s action is a clear obstruction to the human world, but more importantly to the task that Aeneas is to undertake, and thus, to politics . Virgil s depiction of women is not only that they act on selfish desires, but also that they make life unnecessarily complicated overall. Before Juno convinces Aeolus to summon the winds of destruction, Aeneas has a clear path to Italy; however, due to Juno, he is forced off his path, and the founding of Rome is in jeopardy. The other important female figure Venus, the goddess of love attempts to cover up her selfish desires when she pretends to worry about Aeneas safety and well being when all she desires is for someone from her lineage to found Rome so that she can get praise. This is depicted when Jupiter tells Venus, My Cytherea, that s enough of fear; your children s fate is firm; you ll surely see the walls I promised you, Lavinium s city; and you shall carry your great son, Aeneas, high as heaven s stars (Virgil 1: 358 362). Venus is so obsessed with making sure Aeneas arrives in Italy safely so that he can found Rome that she obstructs the order in the human world by making Queen Dido fall in love with Aeneas. This is evident when Virgil reveals Venus s plan: ... Cupid, changed in form and feature... inflame the queen to madness and insinuate a fire in Dido s very bones (Virgil ... • 25. Graeco-Roman Tragedies Lord, what fools these mortals be! The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think. A tragedy is a tragedy, and at the bottom, all tragedies are stupid. Give me a choice and I ll take A Midsummer Night s Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh. The combination of William Shakespeare, Horace Walpole, and Steven King run together to speak on the topic of comedies. We as human beings, being social creatures, have a need to laugh. We find many things humours, and there are many types of comedies, as well as uses for the comedies we make. There are many different forms of comedy from many different time periods which all fall within three overarching sections; verbal, physical, and literary. The first of these, literary, takes different forms over time. The majority can be described as Graeco Roman, Shakespearean, and new age satire. Each of these categories could continue to expand with the different stylistic elements of each, but we will explore the major points of each. The Greeks and the Romans were the first to discover many of the things we use day to day, including the begins of comedies. The Graeco Roman style comedies took two major forms of comedy. That comedy sprang up and took shape in connection with Dionysiac and Phallic ritual has never been doubted, (Arnold, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Long Distance Relationships Everyone has different ideas of what a long distance relationship is; to some it may mean being on opposite sides of a state, country, or even the world. It seems that as the miles between two partners increases the strain on their relationship and communication increases as well. In recent years the number of long distance relationships have experienced a steady increase, focusing mostly around relationships between college aged partners. According to the McKinnel s Paradigm (1994) as mentioned in Extended Communication Efforts Involved With College Long Distance Relationships , nearly one third of students in college or universities are involved in some form of a relationship involving distance defined by a 50 mile radius (Firmin, Firmin, Merical, 2013). College aged partners are not the only ones that interact with the struggles of a long distance relationship; many military and immigrant partnerships also face the strain of finding fulfilling modes of communication. Communication is one of the foundational building blocks of any relationship. When distance is factored into the communicative properties of a relationship, the relationship tends to suffer. As time and technology have advanced, this communicative downfall has become more manageable for any type of relationship. Katheryn C. Maguire and Terry A. In this story, Chopin tackles many of the concerns that are essential to feminism, including the willpower and expression of a woman s distinctive identity separate from the identity of her husband and the right of a woman to identify and experience her own interests. While there is an aspect of this story that is provocative, namely, that Mrs. Mallard feels excited after learning that her husband has died, the reader can empathize with Mrs. Mallard s feelings and support her. Economic Reform Through International Financial Institutions Over three fourths of African states have pursued programs of economic reform through international financial institutions such as the IMF and World Bank. These financial institutions are centred in western states and push western ideas of economic structures, such as liberalization. Programs of economic reform enacted by these institutions have been viewed as a dominant source of influence, or power, over African economic policy formulation. These institutions are not only using the power of knowledge and the worlds acceptance of liberalization, produced by western schools of thought, these economy reforms also display the interconnectedness of economic, political and social power. It appears when African countries release one form of power the other two are relinquished as well. This paper will argue that because of western IR s brand of knowledge, which promotes liberal economic ideals, especially the belief that free trade benefits all, the west is able to justify its intervening in foreign economies. Western IR s monopoly over knowledge hold a powerful position where they posses both the power to define issues impeding upon developing countries and the position to act as the selfless savior assisting these countries. They are not truly assisting as much of their actions benefit western countries more than the country receiving help.
