On March 28, 2017 President Donald Trump Issued An Executive
On March 28, 2017 President Donald Trump issued an Executive Order (EO) on Promoting Energy
Independence and Economic Growth. This report is a partial overview of the EO with a consideration
of the potential energy policy implications. While there are various programmes and policies affected
by the EO, this report will look at the implementation of the policy objectives and have a focus on the
reconsideration of the Clean Power Plan. Section 1 outlines several policy objectives. Generally, the
objectives of the EO are directed to promote clean and safe development of our Nation s vast energy
resources, while at the same time avoiding regulatory burdens that unnecessarily encumber energy
production, constrain economic growth, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the EO sets several deadlines: 45 days for relevant agencies to submit a plan to the
Director of the Office of Management and Budget; 120 days to submit a draft final report with
recommendations; and 180 days for the plans to be finalized. While the varying agencies are
interpreting the EO and reevaluating relevant policies, involvement is viable. Any party with an
interest in the continuation, modification, or cancellation of any policy included in the immediate
review should consider the opportunities to participate in this decision making process. Subsequently,
the varying agencies are directed to coordinate an effort to realize their recommendations and to
suspend, revise, or rescind, or publish for notice and comment proposed rules suspending, revising, or
rescinding, those actions, as appropriate and consistent with law. The effort to realize the
recommendations and reverse any burden identified should be consistent with the policy objectives
previously mentioned. Section 3 announced a rescission of certain energy and climate related
presidential and regulatory action. This disregard of the previous environmental policy may be
meaningful. To mention a few, this section rescinds a couple reports by President Obama. There was
the Climate Action Plan: June 2013 which was designed to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy
efficiency, and direct the EPA to advance the Clean Power Plan. Also, there was the Climate Action

Fritz Lang s Metropolis
It is highly probable that when German Cinema in general is talked about, Metropolis (1927) is one of
the first titles to spring to mind. Fritz Lang is, in his career within and without Germany, a name that
evokes authority in filmmaking.
Premiering in Berlin with Halblutt in 1919, he would never imagine that one day his mind would craft
an epic of the calibre that is Metropolis. A primitive sci fi narrative with daring sets and expansive
cinematography, the magnitude of the film s editing is sheer magic, with well timed shots perfectly
placed to tell a story in silent configuration, yet with a charming expressiveness.
Also daring was its thematic structure, the telling of two lovers from distinct social classes who could
never be together

A View From The Bridge Sympathy Essay
How does Miller make the audience sympathise with Eddie from A view from the Bridge ? In the
Greek tragedy A view from the bridge , Arthur Miller reveals many sides to the main protagonist
Eddie. He is shown as a flawed character who makes some questionable decisions. However, Miller
elicits sympathy for Eddie as he is often accused unjustly of bad things and of being a sinister man
even though his actions show otherwise. This causes us to resonate with Eddie s feelings of
desperation and anguish that he is being told he is something he is not.
Miller makes the audience sympathise with Eddie because he worked hard to help the cousins even
though they weren t his own children. This is shown when he says I put a roof over their heads and ...

In response to this accusation he says crying out in agony that s what you think of me that I would
have such a thought? Eddie could just be very protective over Catherine and have a very strong family
bond with her that was mistaken for a romantic interest. Miller makes us sympathise with Eddie
because he has been unjustly accused which made him frustrated and upset because he doesn t think
he has a romantic attraction to Catherine and is horrified someone would even think that. Eddie only
wants the best for Catherine and shows he puts her feelings before his. He says to her Okay. I only
want the best for you Katie I hope you know that. Miller is trying to show that Eddie does truly care
about Catherine and her feelings. The reader is made to sympathise with Eddie by making him seem
like he makes sacrifices for Catherine and that he cares about her feelings more than his own. Eddie is
a considerate man who puts others before himself. Did I ever ask something for myself? this phrase
shows that out of altruism, Eddie refuses to give more importance to his needs than to Catherine s
needs. We sympathise with him because of his devotion to the welfare of

Teamwork
BSBWOR502B Ensure Team effectiveness 1.1 Describe what differentiates a group of people from a
team. A team is generally organized, with specific goals and usually with specific roles for different
members of the team. A team is a group of people that works together for a common cause or goal. A
group is just a collection of people with something in common, such as being in the same place or
having a shared interest. 1.2 Explain why it is important to establish a clear team purpose. establishing
a clear purpose/goal is important so the group understands what it is trying to achieve. Without a clear
goal or purpose, the team may not be able to identify when the task has been completed or finished.
With a clear goal, the team can unify and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

each goal. Select 1 goal and create an action plan which clearly documents how you will achieve this

constraints. 3.1 Describe the stages that a team goes through during its life cycle. The stages that
teams normally go through range from forming to disbanding. the stages cannot always be clearly
identified: this is likely to be the case if a team operates for a few days or if a team has changes in its
membership. In the first case, there may be little storming and in the latter there may be a considerable
amount of it. Managing a team means managing it through the ups and downs of the team process

Roosevelt And Wilson Involvement For Progressivism
Progressives shared a lot of similar goals and objectives. They especially came in whenever the
democratic reforms failed. For instance, where an accepted appeal can be voted into law, referendum
which involved the review of the proposed laws or direct election of senators instead of using the
normal method of legislation. Progressives always recorded success in pushing of reforms into laws.
The explanation for this could be attributed to the high level of education that the progressives hard,
consequently being more influential. The initiatives that they pushed became triumphant than the
legislative docket (Piott, 2006; Smith, 2012). This paper seek to explore the programs that Roosevelt
and Wilson initiated in a bid to advocate for progressivism.
Progressivism was powerfully present after Theodore Roosevelt took on power from McKinley,
following his assassination in 1901. Roosevelt became the first president to have a linking to the
aspect progressivism. He was dubbed a man as a champion of cautious, moderate change. His intent
was not to transform the legislation of government, but to create a fair approach in dealing with
workers and businessmen. He was marked in history to be the first head of state to have ever arbitrated
a labor dispute without defending the employers (Smith, 2012).
Roosevelt did successfully challenged the Northern Securities Company railroad combination. J. P.

Geothermal Energy Is A Kind Of Energy
1. Introduction
Geothermal energy is a kind of energy that provided by the heat of our planet, the Earth. The cost of
geothermal energy is low, and it is reliable and friendly to the environment, but is limited to some
specific areas. Recent technology development has greatly expanded the range and size of geothermal
energy resources. Now the geothermal energy can be also used for applications such as home heating,
which add use potential for the resource. Although, tapping geothermal energy will release some gas
pollution which are originally trapped deep inside the earth, these emissions are much lower than
those of fossil fuels. Therefore, geothermal energy is a kind of potential energy and may help to
reduce emissions of greenhouse of the earth and of the pollution to the environment.
California, with its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, has great potential of geothermal energy,
which can easily meet the consumption of electricity for 100,000 residents. According to EIA [1], the
monthly average consumption per person is 557kWh, we can get,
Total Capacity = (557 ×12 kWh/year×100,000)/(365 ×24 ×0.92h/year) = 83 MW
Therefore, our geothermal power plant capacity is 83MW.
2. Resource Definition
2.1 Resource Type
The heat of earth provide us the geothermal energy. The heat can exist in the shallow ground, as well
as hot rocks or hot water a few miles away from the surface of the earth. To go deeper, there will be
extremely hot magma [2]. Usually, volcanic activity and

Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Foods Essay
The most wonderful activity a human being can experience is new flavors and foods. For example, the
first time a person tastes a delicious juicy piece of prime rib or a delightful hamburger with cheese and
ham, his world is never the same. However, since the beginning of the twentieth century, the
production of food has been supplemented by science. This has triggered an angry dispute between the
people who support the advances of biotechnology and people who love nature. In order to understand
the controversy, we have to know the meaning of genetically modified foods. With new technological
advances, scientists can modify seeds from a conventional seed to a high tech seed with shorter
maturation times and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key is in the production. The growth of GM crops is faster than the conventional seeds. For that
reason, farmers can produce more and more. These seeds are resistant to cold and hot weather and
have more chances to resist dryness than the others. Also, these crops are herbicide resistant; that
means that farmers can spray with herbicide and defeat the weeds without altering the crop. For that
reason, a lot of money is saved by the reduced use of pesticides, and the cost of production is
benefited. Almost 8.25 millions farmers all over the world planted genetically modified seeds in 2004,
compared to 7 million in 2003, said the international Service for the Acquisition of Agri biotech
Applications (ISAAA)( Biotech 1).
In addition to the strong production, as John B. Alfred, a professor in the department of food science
and technology at Ohio State University, said, These foods are as safe and nutritious as their
conventional counterparts (Alfred 1). These GM plants are modified to produce proteins that plants
would not produce by natural means. They grow up with built in Vitamin A that prevents blindness in
people who have Vitamin A deficiency. Scientists have also created GM potatoes which absorb less oil
when fried. That means less fat in the potato, converting popular french fries from junk food to
nutritious and healthy food. Scientists have also developed an apple with a built in vaccine which
prevents childhood pneumonia ( GM Food 1). These are only

Impact Of Colonialism And The Missionary Endeavor On Ibo...
The impact of colonialism and the missionary endeavor on Ibo society in Things Fall Apart novel
Introduction
Things Fall Apart novel tries to re erect cultural, social as well as spiritual basics of traditional Igbo
(Ibo) existence from the year 1850 and 1900. Conversely, the novel cannot be inferred like truthful
societal and political olden times of Ibo society since it is a work of invented story. However, the
novel describes disagreements and apprehensions in Igbo society. It also depicts changes initiated by
colonial ruling and Christianity. The author asserts that European colonialism operates as a powerful
as well as well built mediator of the change within Ibo society (Achebe, 2000). Additionally,
Christianity attracted the trivial associates of the Igbo society. Igbo and other societies were altered
considerably due to this variety of deal with Europeans. A few societies expanded in dimension and
authority as marketable centers, whereas others go through great losses in the course of slave invasion.
Hostility get higher, and conflict tactics distorted due to the coming of weapons.
In articulating the accomplishment of Catholic Missionaries Hatch, Roman Catholics appeared to be
most helpful within the endeavor, thereby protecting a paramount place within Igbo society. According
to Chinua Achebe, Educational expansion was the invention of Igbo confined organization but not of
British supervision. As a result, other operation schools such as Anglican schools

I. INTRODUCTION
Streaming video and music to TVs, PCs and tablets using cloud services like Netflix, You tube,
Pandora and Spotify has become a popular way to enjoy life. It is almost impossible to refuse the
convenience of cloud managed libraries of content with streaming anywhere capability. Also video
game market has always been a important part for entertainment industries. For example, the global
video game market is expected to grow from 66 billion US dollars in 2010 to
81 billion in 2016. Cloud gaming, renders the gaming application in the cloud remotely and stream the
encoded game scenes to the client over the Internet. The input signals from our controllers are

statement made in this study clearly shows that Mitchell is misguided. To start off with, Mitchell is on

Mitchell s saying, It s just that, well, I get pretty hungry and tired and cranky eating nothing but the

But man, you can t believe the cravings I ve had for bread and cereal and stuff. So I started eating
some, and I feel better. What is making Mitchell get headaches is that he has low blood sugar. The
human body requires sugar to survive, so the bodies could carry glucose around. Endocrine hormones
controls blood sugar by having the pancreas produce insulin (a hormone that helps glucose move the
blood into cells for energy useage) and glucagon (that raises the gathering of glucose in the
bloodstream). Both these hormones are referred to Pancreatic Endocrine Hormones. The production of
insulin and glucagon by pancreatic determines if a person has diabetes and hypoglycemia. So if a

The U.S fought in the Vietnam War because of the domino theory. The domino theory is the fear that
if one country fell to the influence of communism then the surrounding countries would soon follow.
President Eisenhower quotes You have a row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first one, and

Background and Significance
Simulation was initially used by the airlines and military personnel for training purposes. The first
ground based flight simulator, named the Link trainer, was invented in 1929 by Ed Link (Nickerson
Pollard, 2010). Edwin Albert Link can be said to be the pioneer of simulation implementation. He is
most remembered for inventing the flight simulator, which was then commercialized in 1929 and
called the Blue Box or Link Trainer . Using simulators for training maximizes a student s learning
without real life threats. Simulators are able to replicate scenarios that could damage an actual aircraft
and cause significant injury or even death. The replication of actual flight in simulation would not be
complete without motion. Disputes towards efficiency of motion versus non motion platforms have
been debated within the aviation training community for many years. Many studies have been made
regarding the importance of motion versus non motion. Motion platforms can provide motion for roll,
pitch, heave, surge, yaw, and sway. Motion platforms also can provide crucial over controlling feel
characteristics and play a crucial role in takeoff and

Franny And Zooey By J. D. Salinger
For my summer reading book report I, unfortunately, chose the book Franny and Zooey, which
combines his short story Franny and novella Zooey by J.D. Salinger. One of the best parts of this book
was the ending on page 201, When she had replaced the phone, she seemed to know just what to do
next... Before she fell into a deep, dreamless sleep, she just lay quiet, smiling at the ceiling . This is a
great moment, partly because the book was over and there was no more pretentious complaining to
read, and partly because the story ended with all loose ends tied up simply and a main character
resolving her spiritual and emotional issues, which was the main plot point of the two stories. The
worst part of this book happened many times, one of the most notable times was on page 53 that
carried on to 53 In all that follows, only the two youngest of the seven children will be directly seen or
heard. , this sentence and the long footnote that follows it describes in overwhelming detail the lives of
the five other Glass siblings even though they are not mentioned more than in passing for the rest of

Teen Drug Abuse
Did you know that the teen Drug and Alcohol abuse rate have increased over the past 10 years? 1 out
of every 10 teens use non prescribed prescription drugs. Teens are abusing drugs and using them as
relief outlets. They often start using the drugs under peer pressure, to cope with a problem or to cope
with depression. People can find different ways to cope and quit their addictive habits and find
something different to do. You become 5% more likely to become addicted in adulthood. Studies have
shown that you are 3% more likely to self harm. Drug abuse under ages of 18 can permanently affect
and change your brain. It can cause you to be delusional and can t remember what happened when you
were under the influence. It causes you to do poorly in school , diminishes good performance and can
keep you from being employed. It can also cost you your life if you are driving under the influences.
Studies have shown that 467,000 kids ages 12 17 have used the drugs for nonmedical purposes and

Odour of Chrysanthemums as a Classic Essay
Odour of Chrysanthemums as a Classic
The claim that Odour of Chrysanthemums is a well crafted story is hardly brave or risky, for many
would agree. For instance, the man who in a sense discovered Lawrence, English Review editor F. M.
Ford, said this about Odour of Chrysanthemums :
The very title makes an impact on the mind. You get at once the knowledge that this is not, whatever
else it may turn out, either a frivolous or even a gay springtime story. Chrysanthemums are not only
flowers of the autumn: they are the autumn itself. . . This man knows what he wants. He sees the scene

he was not; she had felt familiar with him. Whereas he was apart all the while, living as she never

This is Elizabeth s epiphany. Her husband, a seemingly familiar fixture in her life, was ultimately a
stranger to her. Her shock at realizing this suggests that some deep seated belief of hers has turned out
false. Perhaps Elizabeth incorrectly assumed that marriage implied a special connection between
husband and wife. Whatever the belief, this realization coupled with her husband s sudden death leads
to an acute sense of loneliness which is the most unique aspect of the story. If we can attribute the
unusual success of Odour of Chrysanthemums to those unique aspects which distinguish it from other
stories, then perhaps the unique, final moment is key evidence in the search for the reasons why Odour
of Chrysanthemums is successful.
Furthermore, the epiphany must be considered carefully, for it is of vital importance to the story and
its readers perceptions of it. The position of the epiphany in the story s structure clearly suggests its
importance. If the moment when Elizabeth discovers that her husband is dead

Herbal Remedies Should Not Be Legal
A pill for this and a pill for that seems to be all I hear. I say, No, no, no, give me options! It s my
health, and I want choices! Considering herbal remedies have been recorded for thousands of years for
medicinal purposes, I do not understand why I am not given choices for my health therapy. Herbal
remedies should not only be an option in the past, but should be considered and option made
accessible to everyone today. Using herbal remedies and supplements has changed and restored my
health, as I was able to cure my serious health issue without the use of prescription medication. Herbs
and herbal remedies have a long history with favorable results, learning from my personal experience
I believe people should be informed, and offered herbal remedies as an alternative to avert, or possibly

problems, taking into consideration of the history recorded, alternative remedies should be considered
as an option for preventative care and treatment. To be given information on the historical uses of

Social Pressure In Randall Jarrell s The Ball Turret Gunner
People s opinions can be changed or influenced by social pressure. We are swayed by our peers, the
media and by advertising. We are surrounded by something or someone telling us what is the newest
fashion, the latest social trend and even what is considered attractive. These social pressures succeed
because the need to conform is an innate instinct that increases survivability in a social environment.
This conforming to social pressure is not bad or wrong; however, the implications of what can happen
when we become overly agreeable are troubling. Studies have been conducted and poems have been
written about our instinct to conform and how it could affect the future. Solomon E. Asch, a social
psychologist, conducted one of these studies. The experiments, which examined a person s responses
when faced with social pressure, consisted of a group of people that were shown two cards: one with
one line drawn on it and another card with 3 or more lines drawn on it. The subjects were to respond
which line on the second card was the same length of the line on the first card. However, not all of the
participants were actual subjects. Some were told ahead of time to give an incorrect answer and for the
others to follow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jarrell s poem is about a ball turret gunner for a military unit during a war. The gunner describes
himself as being asleep his whole life until he gets killed by an enemy plane. What this means is that,
from the day he was born, he did what he was told and obeyed the government (the State ). The last
line of the poem states, When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose. This line is
significant because it implies that the gunner s sacrifice of his life for the State was meaningless, as if
he were just another product on an assembly line. His reward for conforming to the State s wishes was

preventing infection. Wound cleansing is described as the use of fluids to remove debris and dead
tissue from the surface of the wound. The purpose of wound cleansing is to make the best possible
conditions at the wound site, for uncomplicated wound healing. The most commonly used solution
would be normal saline due to being an isotonic solution and it does not disrupt with normal healing
process of wounds (Ljubic, 2013). Normal saline has just been ... Show more content on

Review of Literature
One of the articles that was reviewed to determine if tap water would be appropriate for wound
cleansing was a systematic review by Fernandez and Griffiths (2007). In this study, various
randomized and quasi randomized controlled trials comparing the effects of water with other solutions
for wound cleansing were assessed. Of the nine trials used in this study, five trials were identified that
compared the rates of infection in wounds cleansed with water or normal saline (Fernandez amp;
Griffiths, 2007). These trials involved people of all ages, with a wound of any etiology, in different
settings including hospitals, communities, nursing homes, general practice, and wound clinics. The
trials also included an objective measure of wound infection, such as bacterial counts, wound cultures,
or wound biopsy (Fernandez amp; Griffiths, 2007). After data extraction and analysis of the trials, the
authors concluded that there was no statistical significance between cleansing with tap water and
normal saline (Fernandez amp; Griffiths, 2007). However, the authors also acknowledged two major
flaws in this review, including the lack of consistency in the criteria and validated tools of
measurement used to assess wound infection, as well as insufficient detail in reporting the method

How the Electoral College Works
The Electoral College: How it works
Axia College University of Phoenix
How do we elect the President? Many people do not understand the process by which we elect the
President. They do not understand how the Electoral College works. Bill Stern (Andrews, 1996) said,
Our elections are free, it s in the results where eventually we pay. Oftentimes, people vote based on
public opinion or information obtained by the media. Voters should inform themselves on how the
Electoral College works in order to make good decisions when voting for the president. Electoral
College delegates elect the President. Voters elect Electoral College delegates. The Electoral College

Number of Electoral College Votes by State

Note. From U.S. Electoral College 2000 Presidential Election. Delegate selection for the Electoral
College happens in a variety of ways. Each state decides how it selects its electors. Currently, every
state allows its electors to be chosen by popular vote. The political party usually nominates electors at
their state conventions or by a vote of the party s central committee. Political parties select electors to
recognize their service and dedication. These electors are state elected officials, party leaders, or
people with a personal or political affiliation with a candidate. Some states show the electors names on
the ballot others do not. Voters should research the process of selecting electors in their state and for
their political party. Voters should inform themselves on what their ballot format is before National
Election Day. When we vote for a pair of candidates on a ticket, we are selecting a group of electors to
serve in the Electoral College. There are many controversial arguments regarding the Electoral
College. After the controversy of the 2000 election, people across the country wanted to do away with
the Electoral College. Many people

The Effects of Slavery on the Black Family Essay
Slavery is a period of time where people were bought, sold, and treated as property for many years.
Slaves were given no rights once so ever from the time they were captured, purchased, or born.
Slavery existed in many countries such as contemporary Africa, Mali, Haiti, Niger, Sudan, and
Mauritania. Although slavery was equally devastating in many different countries one form of slavery
that stands out the most for American history is slavery in the New World. Slaves were shipped from
various locations in Africa and also different islands of the West Indies. Contrary to belief, there was a
method in Africa specifically Goree Island, where wealthy Africans would sell out other Africans from
their country into slavery. These merchants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slaves were not usually treated with respect in the households they worked in, most of the time, slaves
were treated horribly. They would be raped, beaten, teased, whipped, and were victims of many cruel
and unusual punishments that are unimaginable to the human race present day. Family was the most
important thing to the African culture. Brothers tried their hardest to look over their younger sisters as
best as possible. Old women and men with no family members to turn to, looked to the comfort of
nieces, nephews, and cousins when they fell ill, and aunts and uncles played a primary part in the
family as well. Men were not the only ones that were forced to take part in daily labor and routines but
also women and children. Some slaves were assigned outside work in which they would tend the crops
and more commonly known work the plantations on their masters estate. Women were more
commonly assigned to kitchen work such as cleaning the houses, washing clothes, cooking meals,
working as servants, and tending to the masters each and every need. Most women who worked in the
houses were brutally raped by their masters whether or not they were married to a man or not.
Although most women worked in a home setting, there were some women who did work outside with
the men and children. Work was difficult on the slaves and their masters were not empathetic towards

Chimpanzee Experimentation
I believe it s right to test on chimpanzees in the state of Colorado. I think this the right that we test on
these animal in the state of colorado, because we can find if they are actually related to us the humans.
And if they actually cause the evolution. Also if they have any diseases with them. furthermore we can
test on other monkeys not just chimps like apes other species of monkeys too. Why would people
think it s a bad idea to test on chimpanzees in colorado. By testing the chimps we have found many
diseases and was instrumental in the development of pacemakers, cardiac valve substitutes, and
anesthetics. Chimpanzee Experimentation in the U.S. in the 21st Century Research involving

DNAAnalysis In Criminal Investigation
do not contain biological materials, DNA analysis is not necessary to perform. By performing
serology analysis as a presumptive test, this will allow investigators to separate the evidence at crime
scenes into a DNA testing category and no DNA testing category.
Blood is the most common type of biological fluid found at crime scenes. Blood consists of plasma,
red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets (Houck Siegel, 2015, Chapter 10, p. 240). Red blood
cells transport oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body and is accomplished by hemoglobin.
That being said, when a presumptive test is done to test for blood, the presumptive test will react with
the hemoglobin that is present in blood. One thing that might happen is the stain ... Show more content

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the most common form of DNA analysis (National Institute of
Justice). PCR was invented in 1983 by Dr. Kary Mullis. Mullis was working on a project and could
not complete it. He said he needed a way to increase the concentration of a specific gene of interest
(Oswald, 2017). As he was driving home, he thought that Using two opposed primers, one
complimentary to the upper strand and the other to the lower, then performing multiple cycles of
denaturation, annealing and polymerization he could amplify the piece of DNA between the primers
(Oswald, 2017). This is how PCR came about. According to Garibyan and Avashia (2013), PCR is a
simple, enzymatic assay, which allows for the amplification of a specific DNA fragment from a
complex pool of data (p. 1). PCR is a good technique to use because only trace amounts of DNA are
needed to generate enough copies to be analyzed. The presence of template DNA, nucleotides,
primers, and DNA polymerase are required for every PCR test. It is important to understand what
these components are. There are four nucleotides found in DNA and they are adenine, thymine,
cytosine, and guanine. Primers are important because this specifies the exact DNA product that must
be amplified. Primers are short DNA fragments that have a defined sequence that is complementary to
the target DNA that is to be detected

The Causes And Effects Of Human Trafficking In Michigan
Human Trafficking in Michigan It is dark outside, and you are driving back home from work. Your
stomach starts to growl from hunger, so you decide to take the next exit to get something to eat. The
town you stop at is a little creepy, but your hunger is unbearable. You pull into the parking lot, and
start walking to the door. You are immediately followed by two guys slightly larger than you. You start
to walk faster, but unfortunately they catch up and are now standing in front of you. You are scared
because they are taking you back to their car. What is going to happen to you? Why are there not more
police patrolling this area at night? Why is this happening to me? Human trafficking can happen in a
blink of an eye especially when people are doing everyday things. According to The Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services it is known to be the second largest criminal enterprise
after drugs. There are many forms of trafficking such as human trafficking, sex trafficking, and labor
trafficking. ( Human Trafficking )
Michigan has seen a sixteen percent increase in reported human trafficking cases. Polaris, an
organization that helps fight human trafficking across the globe, released the data from the National
Human Trafficking Resource Center, stating that there were 152 Michigan Human Trafficking cases
reported in 2015. They included 122 of sex trafficking and 18 cases of labor trafficking. In 2014, 131
cases were reported were reported since 2007, the NHTRC has

The Income Statement And The Balance Sheet
(Introduction)
Throughout the entirety of the paper I will discuss the purposes of the income statement and the
balance sheet; while also identifying the major types of expenses shown on the income statement, and
listing major types of assets inside the typical balance sheet. I will also discuss the three different
accounts that comprise the owner s equity on a corporate balance sheet and the three categories of
ratios that a business may use in an analysis of its financial statements. Lastly I will explain a
statement of cash flows and describe the three standard sections contained in cash flow statements.
Since I will be discussing multiple categories, I want to clearly state each one by dividing them into
separate sections. Each topic holds dominant relevance to finance and the ability to fully understand a
business by comprehending how they work. Having the ability to understand the data projected from a
business, is the bone structure for seeing how it grows or regresses. To aid in this understanding I
would like to first start off with the income statement.
Income Statement For businesses to have an overview of what direction their company is going,
whether it be profiting or declining, they will conduct a quarterly or yearly income statement. An
income statement reports the earnings and expenses incurred over a certain time period (Melicher
Norton, 2014, p.357). There are different types of expenses listed inside the income statement that
give businesses

Flexibility In College
Flexibility is another distinguishable difference between transferring and directly attending a four year
school. For some students, working may be the main focus. They are either occupied by their job or
they are working to help pay for college, because their family can not financially afford it. In result,
their working hours may affect their class schedule; they need to find time to balance work and school.
Four year colleges do not often offer night classes, whereas community colleges do. The article, 4
Reasons for High School Graduates to Turn to Community College provides reasons why students

The Fourteenth Amendment addresses many aspects of citizenship and the rights of citizens. The most

Roxanne Jones s Article, Listen Children, Not Everyone Is...
Trophies for Participation
Roxanne Jones created an article called, Listen kids, not everyone is a winner . In this editorial, Jones
began the topic of children getting trophies for doing well and participating in activities. She discussed
that she does not support the idea of a child receiving awards for participation. Throughout the article,
she made valid points toward her argument against giving children awards, in turn that made me agree
with her. There are many reasons as to why children should not be given trophies for participation.
The first reason why children should not be given trophies, is that they will not be ready for the harsh
reality of the world. They will think everything will be handed to them if they just participate in an
activity. In the future, they won t work hard enough to earn awards, because they will think they can
get by with little effort. Their work in the future will lack quality and quantity, since their thinking has
been corrupted in turn making them feel they can get praise without doing the required work
thoroughly and exquisitely. James Harrison agrees with this message, as in the article he made a
statement saying, I m sorry I m not sorry for believing that everything in ... Show more content on

In life there is a competition happening for who gets what job, and your best won t be good enough.
You have to fight in order to get praise and awards, otherwise it s just pointless when someone does a

to get what you want and not do the minimal work that is necessary in a project. Life is full of wins
and losses, and if children aren t aware of this sooner in life, they aren t going to be prepared for
reality. Jones acknowledges this in her article by saying, You learn that losing hurts even in T ball but

Comparing Poe s The Raven And The Persistence Of Memory
Those who cannot stand tall in the face of adversity are often met with the unrelenting touch of grief.
When the power of grief is too strong in certain people, they are left as a shell of their former self.
This feeling of hollowness is apparent in the narrator in Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven after he allows
himself to be encompassed by his insufferable grievances. This continues to a point where he lacks the
ability to distinguish his dreams from reality. This line between dream and reality fades in both Edgar
Allen Poe s The Raven and The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. The anamorphic,
intentionally distorted, setting of this surreal artwork correlates with the anguished mindset of the
narrator. His anguish fuels his grief giving it the power to trump any other feeling that may arise in
him. The immense grief and disheveled mental state of the narrator in The Raven parallels the imagery
used in The Persistence of Memory in multiple ways. The bizarre surroundings, the barren landscape,
and the grotesque melting clocks each represent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same quality would be seen if a reader could enter the mind of the narrator in The Raven because
he has been emotionally stripped bare by his inextinguishable grief. In The Persistence of Memory the
arid desert is essentially empty, save for the melting clocks, which closely parallels The Raven
because the clocks can represent the narrator s extremely weakened emotional state. The feelings that
have become the feeblest are those of positivity and alacrity. In the simplest terms he has been
stripped away of willingness and been exposed to the strongest forms of grief and anguish. Overall,
the desert setting in The Persistence of Memory can represent the mind of the narrator and how
stripped of feeling it has become and the few melting clocks show the numbed and weak emotion he
has

  • 2. On March 28, 2017 President Donald Trump Issued An Executive On March 28, 2017 President Donald Trump issued an Executive Order (EO) on Promoting Energy Independence and Economic Growth. This report is a partial overview of the EO with a consideration of the potential energy policy implications. While there are various programmes and policies affected by the EO, this report will look at the implementation of the policy objectives and have a focus on the reconsideration of the Clean Power Plan. Section 1 outlines several policy objectives. Generally, the objectives of the EO are directed to promote clean and safe development of our Nation s vast energy resources, while at the same time avoiding regulatory burdens that unnecessarily encumber energy production, constrain economic growth, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the EO sets several deadlines: 45 days for relevant agencies to submit a plan to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget; 120 days to submit a draft final report with recommendations; and 180 days for the plans to be finalized. While the varying agencies are interpreting the EO and reevaluating relevant policies, involvement is viable. Any party with an interest in the continuation, modification, or cancellation of any policy included in the immediate review should consider the opportunities to participate in this decision making process. Subsequently, the varying agencies are directed to coordinate an effort to realize their recommendations and to suspend, revise, or rescind, or publish for notice and comment proposed rules suspending, revising, or rescinding, those actions, as appropriate and consistent with law. The effort to realize the recommendations and reverse any burden identified should be consistent with the policy objectives previously mentioned. Section 3 announced a rescission of certain energy and climate related presidential and regulatory action. This disregard of the previous environmental policy may be meaningful. To mention a few, this section rescinds a couple reports by President Obama. There was the Climate Action Plan: June 2013 which was designed to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and direct the EPA to advance the Clean Power Plan. • 3. Fritz Lang s Metropolis It is highly probable that when German Cinema in general is talked about, Metropolis (1927) is one of the first titles to spring to mind. Fritz Lang is, in his career within and without Germany, a name that evokes authority in filmmaking. Premiering in Berlin with Halblutt in 1919, he would never imagine that one day his mind would craft an epic of the calibre that is Metropolis. A primitive sci fi narrative with daring sets and expansive cinematography, the magnitude of the film s editing is sheer magic, with well timed shots perfectly placed to tell a story in silent configuration, yet with a charming expressiveness. Also daring was its thematic structure, the telling of two lovers from distinct social classes who could never be together ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Greek tragedy A view from the bridge , Arthur Miller reveals many sides to the main protagonist Eddie. He is shown as a flawed character who makes some questionable decisions. However, Miller elicits sympathy for Eddie as he is often accused unjustly of bad things and of being a sinister man even though his actions show otherwise. This causes us to resonate with Eddie s feelings of desperation and anguish that he is being told he is something he is not. Miller makes the audience sympathise with Eddie because he worked hard to help the cousins even though they weren t his own children. This is shown when he says I put a roof over their heads and ... Eddie could just be very protective over Catherine and have a very strong family bond with her that was mistaken for a romantic interest. Miller makes us sympathise with Eddie because he has been unjustly accused which made him frustrated and upset because he doesn t think he has a romantic attraction to Catherine and is horrified someone would even think that. Eddie only wants the best for Catherine and shows he puts her feelings before his. He says to her Okay. I only want the best for you Katie I hope you know that. Miller is trying to show that Eddie does truly care about Catherine and her feelings. The reader is made to sympathise with Eddie by making him seem like he makes sacrifices for Catherine and that he cares about her feelings more than his own. Eddie is a considerate man who puts others before himself. Did I ever ask something for myself? this phrase shows that out of altruism, Eddie refuses to give more importance to his needs than to Catherine s needs. Salinger. One of the best parts of this book was the ending on page 201, When she had replaced the phone, she seemed to know just what to do next... Before she fell into a deep, dreamless sleep, she just lay quiet, smiling at the ceiling . This is a great moment, partly because the book was over and there was no more pretentious complaining to read, and partly because the story ended with all loose ends tied up simply and a main character resolving her spiritual and emotional issues, which was the main plot point of the two stories. The worst part of this book happened many times, one of the most notable times was on page 53 that carried on to 53 In all that follows, only the two youngest of the seven children will be directly seen or heard. , this sentence and the long footnote that follows it describes in overwhelming detail the lives of the five other Glass siblings even though they are not mentioned more than in passing for the rest of the story and fits the reoccurring theme of the author presenting loads of unnecessary information which made this book boring and terrible to read. ... For instance, the man who in a sense discovered Lawrence, English Review editor F. M. Ford, said this about Odour of Chrysanthemums : The very title makes an impact on the mind. You get at once the knowledge that this is not, whatever else it may turn out, either a frivolous or even a gay springtime story. Chrysanthemums are not only flowers of the autumn: they are the autumn itself. . . This man knows what he wants. He sees the scene of his story exactly. He has an authoritative mind. For she had been wrong. She had said he was something he was not; she had felt familiar with him. Whereas he was apart all the while, living as she never lived, feeling as she never felt. (Lawrence 300) This is Elizabeth s epiphany. Her husband, a seemingly familiar fixture in her life, was ultimately a stranger to her. Her shock at realizing this suggests that some deep seated belief of hers has turned out false. Perhaps Elizabeth incorrectly assumed that marriage implied a special connection between husband and wife. Whatever the belief, this realization coupled with her husband s sudden death leads to an acute sense of loneliness which is the most unique aspect of the story. If we can attribute the unusual success of Odour of Chrysanthemums to those unique aspects which distinguish it from other stories, then perhaps the unique, final moment is key evidence in the search for the reasons why Odour of Chrysanthemums is successful. Furthermore, the epiphany must be considered carefully, for it is of vital importance to the story and its readers perceptions of it. The position of the epiphany in the story s structure clearly suggests its importance. If the moment when Elizabeth discovers that her husband is dead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Considering herbal remedies have been recorded for thousands of years for medicinal purposes, I do not understand why I am not given choices for my health therapy. Herbal remedies should not only be an option in the past, but should be considered and option made accessible to everyone today. Herbs and herbal remedies have a long history with favorable results, learning from my personal experience I believe people should be informed, and offered herbal remedies as an alternative to avert, or possibly even cure some health issues. Although, herbal remedies may not be the solution to all health problems, taking into consideration of the history recorded, alternative remedies should be considered as an option for preventative care and treatment. • 21. Social Pressure In Randall Jarrell s The Ball Turret Gunner People s opinions can be changed or influenced by social pressure. We are swayed by our peers, the media and by advertising. We are surrounded by something or someone telling us what is the newest fashion, the latest social trend and even what is considered attractive. These social pressures succeed because the need to conform is an innate instinct that increases survivability in a social environment. This conforming to social pressure is not bad or wrong; however, the implications of what can happen when we become overly agreeable are troubling. Studies have been conducted and poems have been written about our instinct to conform and how it could affect the future. Solomon E. Asch, a social psychologist, conducted one of these studies. The experiments, which examined a person s responses when faced with social pressure, consisted of a group of people that were shown two cards: one with one line drawn on it and another card with 3 or more lines drawn on it. The subjects were to respond which line on the second card was the same length of the line on the first card. However, not all of the participants were actual subjects. The last line of the poem states, When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose. Of the nine trials used in this study, five trials were identified that compared the rates of infection in wounds cleansed with water or normal saline (Fernandez amp; Griffiths, 2007). These trials involved people of all ages, with a wound of any etiology, in different settings including hospitals, communities, nursing homes, general practice, and wound clinics. The trials also included an objective measure of wound infection, such as bacterial counts, wound cultures, or wound biopsy (Fernandez amp; Griffiths, 2007). After data extraction and analysis of the trials, the authors concluded that there was no statistical significance between cleansing with tap water and normal saline (Fernandez amp; Griffiths, 2007). As he was driving home, he thought that Using two opposed primers, one complimentary to the upper strand and the other to the lower, then performing multiple cycles of denaturation, annealing and polymerization he could amplify the piece of DNA between the primers (Oswald, 2017). This is how PCR came about. According to Garibyan and Avashia (2013), PCR is a simple, enzymatic assay, which allows for the amplification of a specific DNA fragment from a complex pool of data (p. 1). PCR is a good technique to use because only trace amounts of DNA are needed to generate enough copies to be analyzed. The presence of template DNA, nucleotides, primers, and DNA polymerase are required for every PCR test. It is important to understand what these components are. There are four nucleotides found in DNA and they are adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine. Primers are important because this specifies the exact DNA product that must be amplified. Throughout the article, she made valid points toward her argument against giving children awards, in turn that made me agree with her. There are many reasons as to why children should not be given trophies for participation. The first reason why children should not be given trophies, is that they will not be ready for the harsh reality of the world. They will think everything will be handed to them if they just participate in an activity. In the future, they won t work hard enough to earn awards, because they will think they can get by with little effort. This continues to a point where he lacks the ability to distinguish his dreams from reality. His anguish fuels his grief giving it the power to trump any other feeling that may arise in him.
