Analysis Of The Book Freakonomics
Hailey Carrillo
Mrs. Reinhart
AP English Language and Composition

Freakonomics
1. Give the title, author, genre, and date of original publication.
Freakonomics is the title of this nonfiction book; it was written by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J.
Dubner. On April 12, 2005, by HarperCollins.
2. What is author s purpose for writing the book? Write a paragraph summarizing the main argument
or purpose.
In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning author and
journalist team up to create a powerful and freakish work that challenges the typical rules of
economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an extraordinarily
powerful and flexible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of information to determine the
effect of any one factor, or even the whole effect. That s what the economy is, after all: a thicket of
information about jobs and real estate and banking and investment. But the tools of economics can be
just as easily applied to subjects that are more well, more interesting. (Dubner, Levitt 11). That is
exactly what this book is all about, not just the value of money but the way resources are managed and
how different factors affect one another. In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner collaborate to explore
the hidden side of everything (Dubner, Levitt 1). Through this writing, the two men evaluate everyday
situations in life and ask questions that have not yet

The Death Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
David was not the only artist to be fascinated and inspired by historic suicides. Suicide is not an
uncommon subject of paintings, or any of the arts for that matter. On the contrary, suicide can be
glorified to a certain extent, in the way that a novel or film can romanticize the act without the
brutality or consequences being addressed. Suicide can appear heroic in the face of a evil. It can
appear to be a triumphant escape from a cruel world. Suicide can even look romantic when portrayed
as the conclusion to a love story, like in Romeo and Juliet, a masterpiece by the beloved William
Shakespeare. Death itself is dramatic, but there is something more to beyond the gruesome or
romantic aspects of death, particularly when it comes to suicide. The Death of Socrates manages to
grip the viewer with its dramatic climax to death, yet saying something more with it s imagery.
The Death of Socrates effortlessly channels utter despair, and yet, unwavering defiance. The painting
comprises of the moments just before Socrates ends his own life (Metropolitan Museum of Art). His
followers sit beside him weeping in horror as Socrates prepares to die. Socrates himself holds his left
hand high up, finger in the air in staunch defiance, all while his right hand hovers over the cup of
Hemlock. The sunlight beams through a window in the upper left hand corner, gazing down on the
scene about to unravel. The man handing Socrates the Hemlock looks away in shame or fear as he
hands the poison

Al Capone Essay 11
Al Capone is one of the most recognized names in American history. Capone ran the City of Chicago
with illegal activities. He appeared many times on newspapers all over the country. Every one of us
has heard of Al Capone, but most of us don t k now the story behind him. What made him to be the
most feared gangster in the city of Chicago? How did this kid from a rough neighborhood and no
money grow up to have $60,000,000? I ve always been fascinated with organized crime but had never
been taught anything in school about it. This report gave me the chance to explore something
interesting and also educational. The more I researched Al Capone, the more I wanted to learn about
him. He may look like an innocent Italian at a glance, but he has ... Show more content on

One night he made a remark about the sister of Frank Galluciano, and Galluciano slashed Capone s
face with a pocketknife, leaving three large scars on the left side of his face. For much of his criminal
career, newspapers would call Capone by the hated name Scarface . On December 18, 1918, Capone
was wed at the age of 19, to a 21 year old Irish girl named Mae Coughlin. A short time later Albert
Francis Capone was born. At the same time this was going on, in New York Johnny Torrio moved his
operations to Chicago. Torrio s prospects in New York looked dim because Capone was indicted for
two murders. He was released when a witness lost her memory, and evidence suddenly vanished from
the court. Al Capone knew that he had Johnny Papa Torrio to thank for this. A few days later, Capone
got into a scruff with another man and killed him. Rather than being indicted again, Capone called
Torrio and received an invitation to move to Chicago. So he packed up his wife and child and did just
that.
Upon arrival in Chicago, Capone was given a job as a bartender at Torrio s newest club, The Four
Deuces. Capone was known as an aggressive and hospitalized most of the drunks he evicted. Men
were hospitalized with broken arms, broken legs, skull fractures, and on one occasion even blood
poisoning because Capone bit through the skin directly into the man s artery. Capone was repeatedly
arrested for assault, but was always released thanks to Torrio s police

What Are The Similarities Between Chrysler And The Seagram...
The Chrysler and the Seagram Building are alike in that they are both iconic symbols of architecture
in America. However, that is where the similarities end. Walter Chrysler wanted the Chrysler Building
to be the tallest in the world and also to make a bold statement, to show his wealth and fortune. Even
though they were both designed to be office buildings, the Seagram Building was designed with a
much more functional look in mind.
The Chrysler Building, located in Manhattan, New York, was designed by William Van Alen. It is
constructed out of steel and brick and stands at a staggering 1,046 feet tall. For a short time, it was the
tallest building in the world. This Art Deco skyscraper is heavily ornamented with objects reminiscent
of Chrysler s automobile empire. It is one of the first buildings to have steel laid ... Show more content

The radiator caps are positioned at the corners of the thirty first floor and mirror the style of the
radiator caps on the late 1920 s Chryslers. The brickwork also featured designs laid out to look like
front hoods and tires of an automobile. The building features gargoyles, made to decorate the building
like hood ornaments. The semicircles on the outside of the spire were designed to evoke the imagery
of Chrysler hubcaps.
The Art Deco style of the Chrysler Building is dramatically different from the functional aesthetic
look of the Seagram Building. The Seagram Building, also located in Manhattan, was designed by
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is constructed out of steel overlaid with bronze and glass walls.
Additionally, it is significantly shorter than the Chrysler Building, standing at 516 feet tall. Mies
designed this International Style building with the intention of letting the construction elements and
bare facade of the building showcase it s beauty rather than relying on heavy ornamentation on the

A Brief History of Yellow Fever Essay examples
You woke up a week ago feeling odd. You were not sure what was wrong, but your body was full of
aches, you felt hot to the touch, and you kept vomiting. Your mother told you to lay down and rest,
hoping it was just a cold. After a few days, you began to feel better, well enough that you wanted to
return to the river to watch the trade ships come in. Now, unfortunately, your symptoms have come
back with a vengeance your fever is back along with intense abdominal pain, your mouth is bleeding
without being wounded, and every time you vomit, it appears black in color. Also, when you look in
the mirror, your skin has changed from the sun kissed color you have always been to a dull yellow
hue. The doctor comes in to examine you; he makes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symptoms documented from that outbreak are the first recorded that best match those of Yellow
Fever, then termed black vomit, because the infection would cause bloody vomit. Later, it was deemed
Yellow Jack due to the typical jaundice the infection would cause: a yellowing of the skin, eyes, and
other mucous membranes. For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes,
further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the
Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all
would perish. Likewise, when an infected ship would come to in port, citizens of that town or city
quickly began to take ill and many would die (Dickerson 48). Many times, a town would refuse to let
ships port in fear that they would bring sickness with them. In the late 1700s, the city of Philadelphia,
then the capital of the newly formed United States of America, lost nearly one tenth of its population
due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever. Because of the outbreak, many well known political figures fled
the city and the country moved the capital from to Washington D.C. where it has stayed ever since.
During the same time, Yellow Fever also attacked Europe and Central America, presumably still being
spread by trade and slave ships. It is believed that in the early 1800s, Napoleon desired to sell
Louisiana to the United States after Yellow Fever drastically reduced his army

The Fountain Reflection
The Fountain, directed by Darren Aronofsky, is a dramatic sci fi esque film centered around the main
character, Tommy. The film begins in the past setting with the line, Let s finish this . These three
words capture the film s entire conflict, death. Every living thing dies, however it takes the span of the
movie for Tommy to realize this. In the beginning, he is weary of death, believing that it is a disease.
Present Tommy is obsessed on saving his wife Izzi from her fatal brain tumor, while Future Tommy is
taking a tree, presumably Izzi, to Shibalba to be healed. He is unable to accept the death of someone
that he loves, and therefore puts all his time and efforts into curing death. Even in the past, Queen
Isabella of Spain asks Tommy to find eternal life to save Spain, leading him in a mindless quest for the
tree of life and a brutal death when he does find his goal. All the while, present day Izzi has come to
accept her own death. She is content in her life. Tommy does not recognize this, putting his wife
second to her illness. We can see this when she asks him to take a walk with her, to which he denies.
This scene replays throughout the movie, highlighting Tommy s mistake of choosing his work over
her. In doing this, he losses his wedding ring because he is no longer worthy of wearing it.
In her freetime, Izzi had been writing a book. When Izzi is sick in the hospital, he bring her, her
journal. Izzi, however, asks Tommy to finish the last chapter. During her

Jane Miller s Purpose For Running For The Election
To win any election, it is paramount to have selected some vital themes that addresses the needs of one
s demographic party. It has to be fully outlined in such a way that it ll present and outline Jane Miller s
purpose for running for the election. There are several political topics in Texas as of today but some
important and strong ones include: More government regulation of immigration laws, Taxes and
abortion. Jane needs to prioritize this issues and present them in a clear and concise way to make a
clear conservative Republican stand point. Accurately planning a strategic foresight to enhance the
voting outcomes of regions and populations will demonstrate positive outcomes for this candidate.
For immigration, she would likely propose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also being a pro active entrepreneur, Jane can practically show how small and large businesses can
thrive in a tax friendly environment, thereby winning the heart of conservative Texans. The campaign
theme will help paint Jane as a committed conservative Republican, which is out to reduce
government spending. It could thus lead to a decrease in national debt.
Also proposing incentives for small businesses and reduced taxes for the rest of the population, she is
most likely to get the Republican votes. The fact that various regions of Texas have varied economic
status, the issue of taxation for the working class will need to be tailored for each affected region and
to be delivered with caution (Newell, Prinde, Riddleperger, 2013).
Abortion is a highly discussed issue nationwide, even among different ethnic groups as it tends to
affect all. The initial abortion bill indicates that medical providers to provide abortion only at the
facilities that are fully equipped to carry out the procedures. This is in fact protecting the right of the
Texans women and also reducing the numbers of abortion facilities that are all over the state. This in
part is also continuing in the culture that builds the foundations of the state of Texas. She could also
use the issue of abortion as an excellent entry point to discuss women and healthcare. This
controversial issue affects all Texans as a whole and therefore not

foolear The Wise Fool in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
The Wise Fool in King Lear
Whether or not the role of the Fool is an important one within King Lear is arguable. Although he
seems to have great insight into much of the plays main events, he seems not to have any real
influence on both the plot as well as the outcome of the play. He remains the sole character who does
not have any direct link with the events of the plot, coupled with an unusually early exit; this raises the
question of his significance. However at the very least he does certainly serve as entertainment not
only for Lear but the audience as well, with his honesty, wittiness, and clever speeches that not only
adds to the light humour but also to show us that the Fool could indeed be perceived as being ... Show

However, we can see that when the Fool becomes too close to the raw truth Lear will warn him that he
will be whipped if he goes too far. When Lear first warns him with it, he replies:
Truth s a dog, that must to kennel: he must be whipped out, when the Lady Brach may stand by the
fire and stink.
Here the Fool warns Lear that his two daughters will have control over him due to his actions.
Although Lear doesn t want to hear the truth and therefore tries to avoid it, the Fool essentially forces
it out into the open through his speeches. He often uses comedic verses of saying to highlight the point
he is trying to put across. In addition to this, he also provides various rhymes and riddles, taking on
the role of a Chorus as a means of discussing the plays actions in a light hearted yet clearly stating the
essence of what is happening. For example, the following quotation sees the Fool referring to Lear s
actions concerning Cordelia:
...That man makes his toe
What he his heart should make,
Shall of a corn cry woe
And turn his sleep to wake
He refers to the way in which people may drive away those who they should love due to misplaced
affection and that this will ultimately cause a person much grief and sleeplessness. This refers to the
way he reacted when Cordelia failed to flatter him in his `love test. This suggest the Fool to be quite
wise to point this out, however it may be too

Why Is Cromford Mills Important Locally
Cromford mills is more important locally than nationally . How far do you agree with this statement?
The Cromford Mills were built in 1771 by Sir Richard Arkwright as a cotton mill, but today it is being
used for many things; offices, a museum, café and many more. Cromford Mills have clearly changed
the village of Cromford as well as arguably being key to the start of the Industrial Revolution. In this
essay I plan to analyze the importance of the Cromford Mills locally, then nationally and give my own
opinions as to where its greatest importance lies.
Arkwright built pioneering mills with some of the most advanced machines but it required many

The Importance Of Reducing The Intensity Of A Sonic Boom
Shawn Merrick Miller Ryan Cilsick Science Research 12/20/16
The importance of reducing the intensity of a sonic boom is essential to making supersonic flight a
possibility for passenger aircraft over land. Currently, supersonic flight over land in the US is
prohibited by the FAA due to the annoyance associated with the sonicboom to people (observers) on
the ground. The advancement of sonic boom reduction could lead to the advancement in the way we
travel around the world with amazing speeds. Speeds up to mach 3.3 at 88,000ft (That s nearly 17
miles!) can be achieved in an SR 71 Blackbird, that keep in mind, it was made and introduced in 1966.
50 years later, we have the ability to transport people vast distances and at high speeds safely, but we
don t. Why not? Getting up to speed is not the issue in this circumstance, the issue is doing it quietly.
It can be said that this problem can be eliminated by making a suborbital transport aircraft, which
could be very beneficial, but will still create a sonic boom, and will still, annoy people. At a higher
price. Supersonic flight was pioneered by the air force in 1947, when Chuck Yeager became the first
man to break the sound barrier. Shortly after, supersonic aircraft research was started.
Supersonic cruising aircraft did not begin until the mid 1950 s. Research on such aircraft had its
origins in the United States in the work which was begun in 1954 or 1955 in support of the Air Force

This gives birth to the antisocial activities such as robbery, physical abuse, snatching and many more.
There is not only one theory that why people become addictive to drugs, however there is always a
combinations of many factors. Here are the major two theories as to why this social problem of drug
abuse exists in the society. Firstly, The genetic theory (Schukit. P.no 452. Theories On Drug Abuse ) is
related to biological aspects. Genetic factor plays a pivotal role in the physiological drive of an
individual. Genetic theory means transmission of genes to children by their parents. An individual
may become addictive to the substance if any of his ancestor was also addicted to that same substance.
Secondly, Self esteem theory (Howar B. Kaplan,Phd. Pno157. Theories On Drug Abuse ), this theory
is based upon self esteem motives. The key variables of self esteem theory are drug availability,
feelings of inferiority or superiority, social pressure/acceptability, coping mechanism, immediate
gratification and life style. People falls under the theory of self esteem become dependents of illicit
substances like hallucinogens, barbiturates, amphetamines, marijuana and alcohol. These substances
are observed as an alternative action to self rejecting attitudes.
At three levels the social issue of drug and addiction can be seen in society. These three levels are
Micro, Macro and Meso. The social issue under Micro level theory of drug abuse and addiction

Throughout the story the characters have to overcome the conflicts that they posses and those that are
thrown at them throughout the rest of the story. Troubles such as poverty, criminal records, and greed
weaves all the characters together to show that they are all connected. In Les Misérables, the
characters are also faced with many problems. However, those problems are based off of racism,

Commuting vs. Dorming The hardest decision a student has to make during their senior year of high

advantages and disadvantages to both scenarios. The entire college experience is a learning trip and it
is oftentimes a young adults first step towards independence. Living on campus is an adjustment and

can speak of your time where you were a teenager that moved away from home to try something new.
The people you meet and the times you will share with them will be with you forever. There are many
advantages for living on campus, however, there also many disadvantages too. Constant
companionship in your living space can sometimes be a disadvantage, especially in situations when
you want privacy. If you are accustomed to living in your own room in your parents house and
suddenly have to share a room with others, this can take some adjustment time (Bartkowski1). Noise
also is huge factor to the disadvantages of living on campus. Dorms can be a noisy place, considering
there are many students living there who gather in dorm rooms or the lounge. However, if you need
some quiet time to study or do homework, you can always go to the library. Dorming can also be very
overwhelming at first. You can easily be distracted by parties or hanging out in the lounge or a friends

Dell vs Hp
1. Introduction Both Dell and HP are two strong players in PC industry which refers to an industry
where companies produces PCs (desktops and notebooks), handheld devices (smart phones and

differs. Dell, once the world s largest PC maker in 2001, has continually lost its market share to HP
and Acer since 2007 (Guglielmo 2009). The cause is rooted in two differences of these companies:
company diversifications and core competences. Therefore, how firms can continually survive in the

The Code Of Dress Code Busting
All anyone ever hears about these days is the way people dress and what s appropriate and what s not.
It s all a matter of opinion. At least that s what they all say, until someone gets busted for dress code at
school. Then all of the sudden it doesn t matter what anyone s opinion is. It s the opinion of the person
doing the dress code busting. So many schools across the country have established a dress code policy
these days, some being mediocre and others taking it to the extreme. One outfit could be revealing to
teacher A, and that same outfit could be considered perfectly fine to teacher B. After all it is a matter
of opinion but the person who catches the dress code violation is the one in the end who gets to
decide, so no one else s opinions end up mattering. Dress code shouldn t be becoming so important
though and teachers and staff members shouldn t need to make clothing more important than the
education of students. It should not be this way and some things need to be changed. Some people say
dress code is causing girls to body shame themselves. It may not seem like it, but this is something
that is having a very negative impact on girls. According to the article Enforcing school dress codes
teaches girls to be ashamed, not modest , some parents and educators believe young women s outfits
their bodies really are too distracting for men to be expected to comfort themselves with dignity and

The Word Plum And The Snowman By Wallace Stevens Perception
Poetry is subjected to many forms of interpretation as the meaning behind a piece deals a great deal
with one s own perception. When reading the two poems, The Word Plum by Helen Chasin and The
Snowman by Wallace Stevens perception is literally everything. The two poems though vastly
different in tone, style and topic share a commonality in the analyzation of existentialism and how the
passage of time plays a large role in somebody s outlook on life.
During a first read of Chasin s the word plum it becomes very apparent that more than just a plum is
being described here. The thinly veiled fruit references are both innuendos as well as interesting
commentary on the topic of the fleeting nature of pleasure in life. This underlying theme is hinted at
from even the poem s title in which Chasin talks about the word plum, but not an actual plum. Words
in language are used as something similar to a symbolic contract, meaning that not only do words
thrives on the idea of the object of discussion not being present but also the promise that the
representation of the object matches its word. So when Chasin describes the word plum as delicious,
she is really discussing the idea that the word plum because of the idea that is projected on it, is just as
delicious as the plum itself, which leads to an even deeper meaning of how in order for things to be
fleeting absence is just as valid as present. However a plum is not present so the poem relies heavily

Barry Meer s Claims
In this passage I do not think Barry Meier, the author supports his claim made in the title. The author
gives all the opposite reasons to support his claim like rats injected with an energy drink can swim
longer than those who don t, another one is if you drink the drink at the right time it can improve your
athletic ability, and taurine, a drug found in energy drinks was given to the Japanese Navy at night to
sharpen eye vision and reduce fatigue. The author gives the wrong reasons to believe that energy
drinks don t work. He gave evidence of a scientific experiment that involves injecting rats with energy
drink and the rats swim longer that the ones who are not injected. The experiment he gave totally goes
against his claim because he saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sugar found in drinks do give a quick boost of energy and totally goes against his claim. The next
example is if you drink the drink at the right time it can improve your athletic ability. Barry Meier also
states ̈Caffeine, a stimulant increases alertness, awareness, and if taken at the right time, improves
athletic performance, studies show ̈. A study shows that all these things can happen if you drink
caffeine. That statement totally throws his claim out because his claim is saying that energy drinks do
not work like they promise. The last example is that the Japanese Imperial Navy were given taurine, a
drug found in some energy drinks so it reduces fatigue and sharpen their eye vision at night. Barry
Meier states in his passage ̈ A formula that is so effective in treating unexplained fevers, neuralgia,
fatigue, whooping cough and other conditions for which there is no drug is very rare needed. ̈ The
drug is used to treat fatigue, which is when people are tired. Taurine helps people get more awake with
less fatigue so it helps people get more energy from it. In conclusion the barry Meier does not get his
claim enough evidence and the wrong evidence to believe that energy drinks don t give you energy.

A Fight For Electric Vehicles
A Fight for Electric Vehicles is A Fight for Our Future
2050 is the year the ozone is expected to have a judgement of its own. If we, the people of the world
can significantly reduce pollution, then by the year 2050 the Ozone Layer should be restored back to
natural levels. If we keep on polluting at the pace we are at, then we can see our Ozone Layer
disappear by the year 2050. I am in love with this planet, and it hurts me to know that my
grandchildren might not have the same earth that I have been blessed with experiencing. I know that
we, the people of this planet, cannot overturn the wrongs that we have done to this planet, but we can
take steps in the right direction to fix the mess we have made. I think a large step in the right direction
would be killing out gasoline powered cars, and slowly making electric car the more popular vehicle.
Electric cars are more expensive to buy and maintain, and they require a special charging port to
charge. Gas station are more accessible. Electric fueled cars do not pollute the air and are a better
choice for the sake of the environment. Although electric cars may cost more and require a special
charge, they do not pollute the air and are more energy efficient. Taking a step towards electric cars is
taking an even bigger step towards saving the environment.
The first electric car was created in 1834 by Thomas Davenport, but was made without a rechargeable
battery. Electric vehicles were the vehicle of choice in the late 1800 s, In

Slavery In The Southern States
As United States citizens take a jump back into reasonably recent history, it is guaranteed that one will
find elements of slavery in the southern states. Slavery, something many people frown on in this day
an age, looked a little different back some 150 years ago. This was a major part of the southern
colonies government and wasn t the sure cause of the American Civil War. Moreover, slavery is how
their entire economy ran, with black people working on mega plantations, picking cotton, making
clothing, and even watching children of young ages. The aspect of slavery wasn t something that
southerners looked upon with a disapproving eye; it was something that people needed to survive and
make money off of. Slavery made their world go around, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many different things played into key with beginning of the war. A direct impact being the Legislature
of South Carolina and other states voting to secede from the United States to become their own

southerners wanting a strong state government and weak federal government and northerners wanting
a weak state government and strong federal government. Furthermore, in spite of the popular rumor
that the need to end slavery was the cause of the war is completely false and that the idea of slavery

Luke Rockhold Case Study
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold returns to the Octagon this Saturday at the PPG

middleweight rankings in David Branch. Rockhold, also a former Strikeforce middleweight champion,
hasn t fought since losing the UFC middleweight title at UFC 199 to Michael Bisping. That was more
than a year ago, but it seems more like five. So much has happened in the division since Bisping s
shocking knockout of Rockhold, so it may have been easy for some to forget his short reign as
champion. Despite the elapsed time, Rockhold is still ranked No. 3 in the division and still one of the
most dangerous fighters at 185 pounds. Before losing to Bisping, ... Show more content on

himself. He s good everywhere, he s a third degree black belt, he s a decent boxer, but there s
questions in his head, and it s time for me to go make those a little more doubtful as the rounds go on.
Branch didn t hold back earlier this week on The MMA Hour. He s going to come out and try to
establish his dominance, Branch said. He s going to try to run his alpha male shit on me, and I m
going to shut that shit down, obviously. But I think in that fight with Bisping, the motherfucker

enough to have trained for him the way I trained for him. And that s about the most respect this
motherfucker is going to get from me. He s not getting no more respect. I already gave him enough
respect by training for him as hard as I have. That is respect enough. When I go in there, I am going to

Establishment Republicans Are Not Sniggering
Establishment Republicans are not sniggering at Donald Trump s antics anymore, especially as he
threatens to go solo in November if party insiders scheme to deny him the nomination. Echoes of
similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the Republican (GOP)
national campaign in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary state. After the real estate
mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat back in the peanut
gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later, they dismissed Trump s surging poll
numbers as an electoral blip sparked by fringe sections of the party base that loathed the GOP s
handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s novelty act as the outsider would soon wear
out and make GOP voters collectively come to their senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or
Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This cocksure feeling has now given way to one of dread as
Trump keeps notching victories in the primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points
clear of closest rival Ted Cruz. More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if
he runs as an independent, effectively torching GOP hopes of preventing a Democratic three peat in
the White House. Republican rivals have tried ganging up on Trump in debates, running attack ads to
discredit him but nothing really stuck so the establishment is changing tack. Influential leaders of the

their taste of music with their kin just as their parents did for them and along with their parents. The
music being passed down receives a change along the way. My Father showed me Heavy Metal, Hair

Analysis Of The California High Speed Rail Authority
Criticism Financial Uncertainty It can be seen that a comprehensive financing plan is lacking from the
state and the Authority. The proposed bonds would be insufficient for Phase 1 alone putting the rest of
the project away from consideration. There is very little clarity on the potential matching funds to be
available from federal and local governments. The reliability on private investors for capital funds is
questionable approach. The California High Speed Rail Authority has received cautions from the state
Senate Transportation and Housing Committee regarding the availability of matching funds for High
Speed Rail construction. Most importantly the advisor of the California High Speed Rail Authority,
Lehman Brothers has described the risks that are capable of restricting private investment in the
project. These risks include cost overruns, doubt on ridership and revenue projections and political
meddling. The Legislative Analysts Panel also published an article in 2011 pointing out the huge
difference in the proposed and actual availability of funds. As per the Due Diligence Report of 2008, It
appears unlikely that sufficient private and public subsidy funding will be found to finance the
complete HSR plan. As a result, it is more likely that the system will either be built only in part or not
at all. Moreover, claims of profitability could not conceivably be true under even the most optimistic
assumptions. Although the current focus is on initial capital costs, there

In Christianity, we burn frankincense during special celebrations using the smoke as a form of
cleansing and sanctifying. Frankincense was one of the three gifts given to Jesus by the wise men at
the time of his birth. Frankincense is sacred because when it is used the aroma calls us to prayer and as
the smoke rises, so does our prayers to our Father in Heaven. Similarly in Aboriginal Spirituality,
sweetgrass is also burned and its smoke is used for purification. Considered the most sacred of plants,
the smoke of the burning grass has the ability to cleanse and bless the body, mind, spirit and heart
altogether. Both frankincense and sweetgrass come from plants being both natural and pure.

Innovation Is The Progress Of Change Within A Business
Innovation is the progress of change within a business that s ultimate goal is to lead a business into
success. Each business model in every market must understand the constantly changing culture that
actually causes the business to change. Busy Bees Babysitting is a company that is in a constantly
changing market but has a unique twist to the average process. Innovation can bring a competitive
advantage to the business and lead into more organizational success. Innovation requires a recognition
of a problem, a proposed solution, an implementation plan and a way to measure it. All these aspects
work together and can lead a business into growth. I currently work for a company called Busy Bees
Babysitting as an independent contractor. This is a business, much like Care, that allows a family in
need of a babysitter or nanny, to have access to hundreds of CPR certified workers. These job requests
are made through an app where the parent enters the information of how many kids, their ages, and the
zip code to a database that the babysitters have access to. Then the babysitters open the app and see
which jobs they are available to take. This business has been open for about a year and a half and has
grown a lot over the past two months. They now have 375 babysitters and over 1500 families in need
of sitters. With such a quick growth rate the company runs on word of mouth, but they are
overwhelmed with the amount of work that comes with success. When a babysitter has a flat tire,

Big Influence On American Culture Essay
3
In the past couple years, there has been a noticeable uprise of comic items like movies, books and
merchandise. The comics have a big influence on American culture ever since the 1940 s. Ever since
then comics have an impact on the way people do, and see things. An example is the first comic cover
of Captain America punching Hitler in the face. That cover showed that anyone could be a hero and
that it was reflecting current events of the time by showing that America was in World War 2. Comic
book superheroes have made a huge difference on what American culture is ever since their first
appearance in 1938 and that impact can be seen in the literature, business, and Film industry. In the
1930s, there was an idea to publish books that brought words with picture to life and to reflect the era
the audience was living in. 1935 came around and the first comic book character made his first debut.
Ever since then, more and more characters like Superman, Batman, Captain America and Spider Man
appeared and those characters started to reflect their respective era s problems. An example is Captain
America fighting hitler, Spiderman working as a photographer, or Superman working at a newspaper
company are jobs that were very high and competitive is the 1940s. Those larger than life heroes and
characters have always been relatable or looked up too. With those characters, they have their
problems and issues. An example is in 2013, when a writer started to write Captain America aka

Essay on President Woodrow Wilson
President Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson was the first Southerner to be elected president after the Civil War. Born on
December 28, 1856 in Staunton, Va., he was the son of a Presbyterian minister who supported the
Confederates. Wilson assumed the presidency after a whirlwind career as a college professor,
university president and New Jersey governor. However, Wilson left the Oval Office just as
heartbroken as the Confederate soldiers that returned home when he was a boy.

However, he ultimately intended to serve the public and wondered about becoming a politician. He

speaking against the Confederate cause before a crowd of Southerners. Wilson finished his law studies
at home and opened an office in Atlanta in 1882 with a fellow University of Virginia alumnus. But the
law bored Wilson, who decided in 1883 that he would become a writer and teacher. Appropriately,
Wilson signed up for graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University in Columbia, S.C., a new school

At the behest of his family, Wilson went to Rome, Ga. before entering Johns Hopkins to settle a family
affair involving an estate. While there, Wilson attended a church where he noticed Ellen Louise

were not married until June of 1885, shortly before Wilson was given a post at the newly formed Bryn

cause of earthquakes. This implies that there is some unknown process at the root of the fault. That

The Use Of Hyperbole In British Literature
Critical Analysis In this analysis I will be discussing the use of hyperbole throughout British literature.
Hyperbole is defined as an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally
( Hyperbole ). The use of this literary device is prevalent throughout early and middle British literature
and even through modern day examples. I believe the use of this literary device in British literature is
due to the fact that religion and the aristocracy were integral parts of the society from the very
beginning. Both of these institutions were constraining and controlling. The use of hyperbole allowed
writers to be able to express their thoughts and opinions without fear of harsh treatment or negative
repercussions. In addition, it was possible for the writers to provide vivid and visceral descriptions of
characters and locations. Hyperbole and hyperbolic language are both significant characteristics of
British literature that transcend history. The first piece of literature I will be examining is The
Wanderer. The Wanderer is a piece of early English literature that describes the characters experiences
with exile and the loss of his material wealth. In this early English poem, the author uses hyperbolic
language to describe the internal feelings of The Wanderer, in addition to, the physical and temporal
experience of the exile itself. In doing so, the author brings attention to the existential crisis the main
character has in losing his gold friend and

Accounting Is The Language Of Business
Introduction
Accounting is the language of business. It is a profession that is being guided by principles, concepts,
conventions, laws, etc. All these fundamental building blocks serve as common and general
compasses to all practitioners of the profession. In some cases, they are nation wide tailored, while in
other cases, they are universally tailored. Accounting as a living, practical, dynamic and realistic
profession covers so many areas of social, economic (business), and governmental activities. Surely,
any endeavour that involves monetary and material activities create a room for the services of
Accounting. Many of the human endeavours for which the accounting profession plays significant
(some times inevitable) roles include; Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Farming Contracting, Oil
and Gas, Mining, Transportation (Air, Land and Sea), Educational Institutions, Churches, Ministries,
ICT, Hire Purchase, Local Government Authorities, Estate Businesses, Export and Import Businesses,
Bill of Exchange Transactions, Royalties Transactions, Consignment Transactions, Stock Market
Transactions, Sports, Entertainment, Hospitals and Hospitality Industry, etc.
Amongst these activities where the role of the Accounting Profession has been recognized, the very
one that enjoys the focus of this presentation is Hire Purchase. There are various definitions of Hire
Purchase, but one main meaning. These definitions include:

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Freakonomics Hailey Carrillo Mrs. Reinhart AP English Language and Composition 3 August 2016 Freakonomics 1. Give the title, author, genre, and date of original publication. Freakonomics is the title of this nonfiction book; it was written by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. On April 12, 2005, by HarperCollins. 2. What is author s purpose for writing the book? Write a paragraph summarizing the main argument or purpose. In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning author and journalist team up to create a powerful and freakish work that challenges the typical rules of economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an extraordinarily powerful and flexible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of information to determine the effect of any one factor, or even the whole effect. That s what the economy is, after all: a thicket of information about jobs and real estate and banking and investment. But the tools of economics can be just as easily applied to subjects that are more well, more interesting. (Dubner, Levitt 11). That is exactly what this book is all about, not just the value of money but the way resources are managed and how different factors affect one another. In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner collaborate to explore the hidden side of everything (Dubner, Levitt 1). Through this writing, the two men evaluate everyday situations in life and ask questions that have not yet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Death Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet David was not the only artist to be fascinated and inspired by historic suicides. Suicide is not an uncommon subject of paintings, or any of the arts for that matter. On the contrary, suicide can be glorified to a certain extent, in the way that a novel or film can romanticize the act without the brutality or consequences being addressed. Suicide can appear heroic in the face of a evil. It can appear to be a triumphant escape from a cruel world. Suicide can even look romantic when portrayed as the conclusion to a love story, like in Romeo and Juliet, a masterpiece by the beloved William Shakespeare. Death itself is dramatic, but there is something more to beyond the gruesome or romantic aspects of death, particularly when it comes to suicide. The Death of Socrates manages to grip the viewer with its dramatic climax to death, yet saying something more with it s imagery. The Death of Socrates effortlessly channels utter despair, and yet, unwavering defiance. The painting comprises of the moments just before Socrates ends his own life (Metropolitan Museum of Art). His followers sit beside him weeping in horror as Socrates prepares to die. Socrates himself holds his left hand high up, finger in the air in staunch defiance, all while his right hand hovers over the cup of Hemlock. The sunlight beams through a window in the upper left hand corner, gazing down on the scene about to unravel. The man handing Socrates the Hemlock looks away in shame or fear as he hands the poison ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Al Capone Essay 11 Al Capone is one of the most recognized names in American history. Capone ran the City of Chicago with illegal activities. He appeared many times on newspapers all over the country. Every one of us has heard of Al Capone, but most of us don t k now the story behind him. What made him to be the most feared gangster in the city of Chicago? How did this kid from a rough neighborhood and no money grow up to have $60,000,000? I ve always been fascinated with organized crime but had never been taught anything in school about it. This report gave me the chance to explore something interesting and also educational. One night he made a remark about the sister of Frank Galluciano, and Galluciano slashed Capone s face with a pocketknife, leaving three large scars on the left side of his face. For much of his criminal career, newspapers would call Capone by the hated name Scarface . On December 18, 1918, Capone was wed at the age of 19, to a 21 year old Irish girl named Mae Coughlin. A short time later Albert Francis Capone was born. At the same time this was going on, in New York Johnny Torrio moved his operations to Chicago. Torrio s prospects in New York looked dim because Capone was indicted for two murders. He was released when a witness lost her memory, and evidence suddenly vanished from the court. Al Capone knew that he had Johnny Papa Torrio to thank for this. A few days later, Capone got into a scruff with another man and killed him. Rather than being indicted again, Capone called Torrio and received an invitation to move to Chicago. So he packed up his wife and child and did just that. Upon arrival in Chicago, Capone was given a job as a bartender at Torrio s newest club, The Four Deuces. Capone was known as an aggressive and hospitalized most of the drunks he evicted. Men were hospitalized with broken arms, broken legs, skull fractures, and on one occasion even blood poisoning because Capone bit through the skin directly into the man s artery. Capone was repeatedly arrested for assault, but was always released thanks to Torrio s police ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Are The Similarities Between Chrysler And The Seagram... The Chrysler and the Seagram Building are alike in that they are both iconic symbols of architecture in America. However, that is where the similarities end. Walter Chrysler wanted the Chrysler Building to be the tallest in the world and also to make a bold statement, to show his wealth and fortune. Even though they were both designed to be office buildings, the Seagram Building was designed with a much more functional look in mind. The Chrysler Building, located in Manhattan, New York, was designed by William Van Alen. It is constructed out of steel and brick and stands at a staggering 1,046 feet tall. For a short time, it was the tallest building in the world. This Art Deco skyscraper is heavily ornamented with objects reminiscent of Chrysler s automobile empire. The radiator caps are positioned at the corners of the thirty first floor and mirror the style of the radiator caps on the late 1920 s Chryslers. The semicircles on the outside of the spire were designed to evoke the imagery of Chrysler hubcaps. The Art Deco style of the Chrysler Building is dramatically different from the functional aesthetic look of the Seagram Building. The Seagram Building, also located in Manhattan, was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is constructed out of steel overlaid with bronze and glass walls. Additionally, it is significantly shorter than the Chrysler Building, standing at 516 feet tall. Mies designed this International Style building with the intention of letting the construction elements and bare facade of the building showcase it s beauty rather than relying on heavy ornamentation on the ... • 7. A Brief History of Yellow Fever Essay examples You woke up a week ago feeling odd. You were not sure what was wrong, but your body was full of aches, you felt hot to the touch, and you kept vomiting. Your mother told you to lay down and rest, hoping it was just a cold. After a few days, you began to feel better, well enough that you wanted to return to the river to watch the trade ships come in. Now, unfortunately, your symptoms have come back with a vengeance your fever is back along with intense abdominal pain, your mouth is bleeding without being wounded, and every time you vomit, it appears black in color. Also, when you look in the mirror, your skin has changed from the sun kissed color you have always been to a dull yellow hue. The doctor comes in to examine you; he makes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The symptoms documented from that outbreak are the first recorded that best match those of Yellow Fever, then termed black vomit, because the infection would cause bloody vomit. Later, it was deemed Yellow Jack due to the typical jaundice the infection would cause: a yellowing of the skin, eyes, and other mucous membranes. For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes, further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all would perish. Likewise, when an infected ship would come to in port, citizens of that town or city quickly began to take ill and many would die (Dickerson 48). Many times, a town would refuse to let ships port in fear that they would bring sickness with them. In the late 1700s, the city of Philadelphia, then the capital of the newly formed United States of America, lost nearly one tenth of its population due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever. Because of the outbreak, many well known political figures fled the city and the country moved the capital from to Washington D.C. where it has stayed ever since. During the same time, Yellow Fever also attacked Europe and Central America, presumably still being spread by trade and slave ships. It is believed that in the early 1800s, Napoleon desired to sell Louisiana to the United States after Yellow Fever drastically reduced his army ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Fountain Reflection The Fountain, directed by Darren Aronofsky, is a dramatic sci fi esque film centered around the main character, Tommy. The film begins in the past setting with the line, Let s finish this . These three words capture the film s entire conflict, death. Every living thing dies, however it takes the span of the movie for Tommy to realize this. In the beginning, he is weary of death, believing that it is a disease. Present Tommy is obsessed on saving his wife Izzi from her fatal brain tumor, while Future Tommy is taking a tree, presumably Izzi, to Shibalba to be healed. He is unable to accept the death of someone that he loves, and therefore puts all his time and efforts into curing death. Even in the past, Queen Isabella of Spain asks Tommy to find eternal life to save Spain, leading him in a mindless quest for the tree of life and a brutal death when he does find his goal. All the while, present day Izzi has come to accept her own death. She is content in her life. Tommy does not recognize this, putting his wife second to her illness. We can see this when she asks him to take a walk with her, to which he denies. This scene replays throughout the movie, highlighting Tommy s mistake of choosing his work over her. In doing this, he losses his wedding ring because he is no longer worthy of wearing it. In her freetime, Izzi had been writing a book. When Izzi is sick in the hospital, he bring her, her journal. There are several political topics in Texas as of today but some important and strong ones include: More government regulation of immigration laws, Taxes and abortion. Also being a pro active entrepreneur, Jane can practically show how small and large businesses can thrive in a tax friendly environment, thereby winning the heart of conservative Texans. The campaign theme will help paint Jane as a committed conservative Republican, which is out to reduce government spending. It could thus lead to a decrease in national debt. Also proposing incentives for small businesses and reduced taxes for the rest of the population, she is most likely to get the Republican votes. The fact that various regions of Texas have varied economic status, the issue of taxation for the working class will need to be tailored for each affected region and to be delivered with caution (Newell, Prinde, Riddleperger, 2013). Abortion is a highly discussed issue nationwide, even among different ethnic groups as it tends to affect all. The initial abortion bill indicates that medical providers to provide abortion only at the facilities that are fully equipped to carry out the procedures. This is in fact protecting the right of the Texans women and also reducing the numbers of abortion facilities that are all over the state. • 10. foolear The Wise Fool in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay The Wise Fool in King Lear Whether or not the role of the Fool is an important one within King Lear is arguable. Although he seems to have great insight into much of the plays main events, he seems not to have any real influence on both the plot as well as the outcome of the play. He remains the sole character who does not have any direct link with the events of the plot, coupled with an unusually early exit; this raises the question of his significance. However at the very least he does certainly serve as entertainment not only for Lear but the audience as well, with his honesty, wittiness, and clever speeches that not only adds to the light humour but also to show us that the Fool could indeed be perceived as being ... When Lear first warns him with it, he replies: Truth s a dog, that must to kennel: he must be whipped out, when the Lady Brach may stand by the fire and stink. Here the Fool warns Lear that his two daughters will have control over him due to his actions. Although Lear doesn t want to hear the truth and therefore tries to avoid it, the Fool essentially forces it out into the open through his speeches. He often uses comedic verses of saying to highlight the point he is trying to put across. In addition to this, he also provides various rhymes and riddles, taking on the role of a Chorus as a means of discussing the plays actions in a light hearted yet clearly stating the essence of what is happening. For example, the following quotation sees the Fool referring to Lear s actions concerning Cordelia: ...That man makes his toe What he his heart should make, Shall of a corn cry woe And turn his sleep to wake He refers to the way in which people may drive away those who they should love due to misplaced affection and that this will ultimately cause a person much grief and sleeplessness. This refers to the way he reacted when Cordelia failed to flatter him in his `love test. This suggest the Fool to be quite wise to point this out, however it may be too ... The Cromford Mills were built in 1771 by Sir Richard Arkwright as a cotton mill, but today it is being used for many things; offices, a museum, café and many more. Cromford Mills have clearly changed the village of Cromford as well as arguably being key to the start of the Industrial Revolution. In this essay I plan to analyze the importance of the Cromford Mills locally, then nationally and give my own opinions as to where its greatest importance lies. • 12. The Importance Of Reducing The Intensity Of A Sonic Boom Shawn Merrick Miller Ryan Cilsick Science Research 12/20/16 The importance of reducing the intensity of a sonic boom is essential to making supersonic flight a possibility for passenger aircraft over land. Currently, supersonic flight over land in the US is prohibited by the FAA due to the annoyance associated with the sonicboom to people (observers) on the ground. The advancement of sonic boom reduction could lead to the advancement in the way we travel around the world with amazing speeds. Speeds up to mach 3.3 at 88,000ft (That s nearly 17 miles!) can be achieved in an SR 71 Blackbird, that keep in mind, it was made and introduced in 1966. 50 years later, we have the ability to transport people vast distances and at high speeds safely, but we don t. Why not? Getting up to speed is not the issue in this circumstance, the issue is doing it quietly. It can be said that this problem can be eliminated by making a suborbital transport aircraft, which could be very beneficial, but will still create a sonic boom, and will still, annoy people. At a higher price. Supersonic flight was pioneered by the air force in 1947, when Chuck Yeager became the first man to break the sound barrier. Shortly after, supersonic aircraft research was started. Supersonic cruising aircraft did not begin until the mid 1950 s. Research on such aircraft had its origins in the United States in the work which was begun in 1954 or 1955 in support of the Air Force XB 70 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Troubles such as poverty, criminal records, and greed weaves all the characters together to show that they are all connected. In Les Misérables, the characters are also faced with many problems. However, those problems are based off of racism, betrayal, and fear. Like in le roman, the characters are connected and eventually creates some kind of relationship. In the beginning of the movie a man named Henri had been accused of killing a man that committed suicide when he had been driving him home. Living on campus is an adjustment and is a huge eye opener to the real world. For the rest of your life you can speak of your time where you were a teenager that moved away from home to try something new. The people you meet and the times you will share with them will be with you forever. There are many advantages for living on campus, however, there also many disadvantages too. Constant companionship in your living space can sometimes be a disadvantage, especially in situations when you want privacy. If you are accustomed to living in your own room in your parents house and suddenly have to share a room with others, this can take some adjustment time (Bartkowski1). Noise also is huge factor to the disadvantages of living on campus. Dorms can be a noisy place, considering there are many students living there who gather in dorm rooms or the lounge. However, if you need some quiet time to study or do homework, you can always go to the library. Dorming can also be very overwhelming at first. You can easily be distracted by parties or hanging out in the lounge or a friends dorm. Also it makes it more susceptible to leave everything for last minute and realize that you have no time to ... • 17. Dell vs Hp 1. Introduction Both Dell and HP are two strong players in PC industry which refers to an industry where companies produces PCs (desktops and notebooks), handheld devices (smart phones and tablets), and workstations. However, with growing global expansion, Dell and HP s performance differs. Dell, once the world s largest PC maker in 2001, has continually lost its market share to HP and Acer since 2007 (Guglielmo 2009). The cause is rooted in two differences of these companies: company diversifications and core competences. Therefore, how firms can continually survive in the PC business is more of an issue for Dell than for HP. Nevertheless, survival is not enough. • 18. The Code Of Dress Code Busting All anyone ever hears about these days is the way people dress and what s appropriate and what s not. It s all a matter of opinion. At least that s what they all say, until someone gets busted for dress code at school. Then all of the sudden it doesn t matter what anyone s opinion is. It s the opinion of the person doing the dress code busting. So many schools across the country have established a dress code policy these days, some being mediocre and others taking it to the extreme. One outfit could be revealing to teacher A, and that same outfit could be considered perfectly fine to teacher B. After all it is a matter of opinion but the person who catches the dress code violation is the one in the end who gets to decide, so no one else s opinions end up mattering. Dress code shouldn t be becoming so important though and teachers and staff members shouldn t need to make clothing more important than the education of students. It should not be this way and some things need to be changed. Some people say dress code is causing girls to body shame themselves. It may not seem like it, but this is something that is having a very negative impact on girls. • 21. The Word Plum And The Snowman By Wallace Stevens Perception Poetry is subjected to many forms of interpretation as the meaning behind a piece deals a great deal with one s own perception. When reading the two poems, The Word Plum by Helen Chasin and The Snowman by Wallace Stevens perception is literally everything. The two poems though vastly different in tone, style and topic share a commonality in the analyzation of existentialism and how the passage of time plays a large role in somebody s outlook on life. During a first read of Chasin s the word plum it becomes very apparent that more than just a plum is being described here. The thinly veiled fruit references are both innuendos as well as interesting commentary on the topic of the fleeting nature of pleasure in life. This underlying theme is hinted at from even the poem s title in which Chasin talks about the word plum, but not an actual plum. Words in language are used as something similar to a symbolic contract, meaning that not only do words thrives on the idea of the object of discussion not being present but also the promise that the representation of the object matches its word. So when Chasin describes the word plum as delicious, she is really discussing the idea that the word plum because of the idea that is projected on it, is just as delicious as the plum itself, which leads to an even deeper meaning of how in order for things to be fleeting absence is just as valid as present. If we, the people of the world can significantly reduce pollution, then by the year 2050 the Ozone Layer should be restored back to natural levels. If we keep on polluting at the pace we are at, then we can see our Ozone Layer disappear by the year 2050. I am in love with this planet, and it hurts me to know that my grandchildren might not have the same earth that I have been blessed with experiencing. I know that we, the people of this planet, cannot overturn the wrongs that we have done to this planet, but we can take steps in the right direction to fix the mess we have made. I think a large step in the right direction would be killing out gasoline powered cars, and slowly making electric car the more popular vehicle. Electric cars are more expensive to buy and maintain, and they require a special charging port to charge. Gas station are more accessible. Electric fueled cars do not pollute the air and are a better choice for the sake of the environment. Although electric cars may cost more and require a special charge, they do not pollute the air and are more energy efficient. Taking a step towards electric cars is taking an even bigger step towards saving the environment. Echoes of similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the Republican (GOP) national campaign in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary state. After the real estate mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat back in the peanut gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later, they dismissed Trump s surging poll numbers as an electoral blip sparked by fringe sections of the party base that loathed the GOP s handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s novelty act as the outsider would soon wear out and make GOP voters collectively come to their senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This cocksure feeling has now given way to one of dread as Trump keeps notching victories in the primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points clear of closest rival Ted Cruz. More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if he runs as an independent, effectively torching GOP hopes of preventing a Democratic three peat in the White House. The comics have a big influence on American culture ever since the 1940 s. Ever since then comics have an impact on the way people do, and see things. An example is the first comic cover of Captain America punching Hitler in the face. That cover showed that anyone could be a hero and that it was reflecting current events of the time by showing that America was in World War 2. Comic book superheroes have made a huge difference on what American culture is ever since their first appearance in 1938 and that impact can be seen in the literature, business, and Film industry. Born on December 28, 1856 in Staunton, Va., he was the son of a Presbyterian minister who supported the Confederates. Wilson assumed the presidency after a whirlwind career as a college professor, university president and New Jersey governor. However, Wilson left the Oval Office just as heartbroken as the Confederate soldiers that returned home when he was a boy. After graduating from Princeton, Wilson entered the University of Virginia to pursue a career in law. However, he ultimately intended to serve the public and wondered about becoming a politician. He continued writing and speaking while at Virginia, where he was labeled a man of courage for publicly speaking against the Confederate cause before a crowd of Southerners. Wilson finished his law studies at home and opened an office in Atlanta in 1882 with a fellow University of Virginia alumnus. But the law bored Wilson, who decided in 1883 that he would become a writer and teacher. Appropriately, Wilson signed up for graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University in Columbia, S.C., a new school with a reputation for using modern teaching methods to instruct students. At the behest of his family, Wilson went to Rome, Ga. before entering Johns Hopkins to settle a family affair involving an estate. While there, Wilson attended a church where he noticed Ellen Louise Axson, a minister s daughter. When he entered graduate school, the two were already engaged. They were not married until June of 1885, shortly before Wilson was given a post at the newly formed Bryn Mawr College, an all women s school. • 37. California Earthquake Analysis On October six a small earthquake shook part of southern California. It started along the Newport Inglewood Fault near Long Beach, California. The quake itself was weak and not cause any damage to the local. However the significant part about this earthquake is that it originated from ten kilometers underground, or about 6.2 miles. Which was interesting because seismologists report on October seventh. That Rocks at that depth should be too hot and malleable to snag and break. Which is a key cause of earthquakes. This implies that there is some unknown process at the root of the fault. That caused this quack to happen says study coauthor Asaf Inbal, a seismologist at Caltech. It was also said that these earthquakes shouldn t be in direct threat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The Use Of Hyperbole In British Literature Critical Analysis In this analysis I will be discussing the use of hyperbole throughout British literature. Hyperbole is defined as an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally ( Hyperbole ). The use of this literary device is prevalent throughout early and middle British literature and even through modern day examples. I believe the use of this literary device in British literature is due to the fact that religion and the aristocracy were integral parts of the society from the very beginning. Both of these institutions were constraining and controlling. The use of hyperbole allowed writers to be able to express their thoughts and opinions without fear of harsh treatment or negative repercussions. In addition, it was possible for the writers to provide vivid and visceral descriptions of characters and locations. Hyperbole and hyperbolic language are both significant characteristics of British literature that transcend history. The first piece of literature I will be examining is The Wanderer. The Wanderer is a piece of early English literature that describes the characters experiences with exile and the loss of his material wealth. In this early English poem, the author uses hyperbolic language to describe the internal feelings of The Wanderer, in addition to, the physical and temporal experience of the exile itself. In doing so, the author brings attention to the existential crisis the main character has in losing his gold friend and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
