Running Head: CLASSIC THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY

CLASSIC THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY
Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the three basic theories of sociology. The three basic
theories of sociology are functional, conflict, and symbolic interactionism. These theories are
studied on the micro or macro level. The micro level is the sum of interactions between people
and groups. The micro level analysis is based on small groups and individuals versus the macro
level which is viewed on a larger scale and looks at society as a whole. In the functional theory
members of society share a common interest of values, beliefs, and behavioral expectations. In the
conflict theory there is a constant struggle between resources and ... Show more content on

One change or shift in society can either make optimal opportunities to the community or create
the start of a downward spiral. I have found that all three theories are based on society and how
an individual person or a group of people acts or behaves greatly affects each of these theories. It
is amazing the amount of changes that a person can go through by having to deal with social
changes.
Lastly, in order to explain which theory best describes our social reality we need to define what
social reality means. Social reality is basically created through social interactions, individual
motives, and actions. It is a little difficult for me to choose one theory that relates to our social
reality that we live in today. I feel that we could easily fall under each theory depending on the
circumstances. The functionalist theory is made up of different parts that all work together like a
puzzle to build stability or a strong foundation. This theory involves

families and large communities that have a strong bond formed to support one another. We must
support and invest in our schools and churches to make a difference in our community. If we lose
our church due to lack of finances then our community could lose its faith. The conflict theory is
generally when there is a struggle for resources. Let s face it, today we as a society are struggling
with obtaining resources needed as the

undergone a transformation of sorts. Within this timeframe, the obtainment and process of evidence

The Man From U.n.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E
I recently went to go see The Man from U.N.C.L.E., a movie reboot of the television series of the
same name that ran from 1964 1968 starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. I never saw the
original television series, so I went into the movie theater with no idea what to expect.
The movie is set in the 1960s, during the height of the Cold War. A Nazi nuclear scientist who
collaborated with the Unites States after the end of World War II has gone missing. His research
could fast track nuclear weapon making and therefore upset the uneasy balance that has held since
the end of the war. C.I.A. agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) is sent to collect the scientist s
estranged daughter, Gabby Teller (Alicia Vikander), from East Berlin to have her help locate her
father. KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) is sent on the same mission for the Soviet Union
, but fails to stop Napoleon and Gabby from escaping over the Berlin Wall. When it becomes clear
that the scientists is being held by an Italian criminal organization that were Nazi sympathizers, the
C.I.A. and KGB decide to run a joint operation with their top two spies to retrieve him in order to
ensure there is not another war. Gabby is brought along to help them infiltrate the organization
since her uncle is one of the members.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E has not done overly well in the box office, but I found it an enjoyable
movie. Enjoyable does not mean that it was a well made movie, a few of the

Criminal Behavior And The Lack Of Education
Criminal behavior is something that affects everyone, even if you don t particularly engage in the
act itself. Every time a crime is committed, we often find ourselves wondering what led that
person to do that crime. We wonder why they did it because it is something that we could never
do, so therefor we cannot fathom the act of engaging in criminal activity. Some people feel that
people only engage in it just because they lack the thing that they try to steal or because of their
specific background and race. In actuality, there is a link between criminal behavior and the lack of
education. However there is also a link between the attainment of education and criminal behavior.
There are several ways that theories suggest the affect that education can have on decisions that a
criminal may make beforehand. According to chapter seven (Conformity, Deviance, and Crime) of
the textbook Introduction to Sociology, functionalist theories along with Emile Durkheim and his
concept of an anomie, which is a situation where social norms loose their hold over individual
behavior gives us insight into the struggle between education and criminal behavior. Functionalist
theories see crime and deviance resulting from structural tensions and a lack of moral regulation.
(Page 172) Students dropping out of school and coming from difficult backgrounds is seen as a
norm within society. Due to their being a failure to try and alter these things, students seek comfort

Know: Thirteen Original Colonies
1.What was the significance of the tremendous growth of population in Britain s North American
colonies?
Britain had an advantage over America with their population in 1700. If Americans wanted to
revolt, Britain would outnumber them 25 to 1. However, in 1775, with the population increase (and
continuing to increase), Britain s advantage was weakening. There were now only 3 Europeans for
each American. This essentially meant that Britain was losing power over America. More
Americans = more American power.

Disadvantages Of Afta
In order to detach trade between the nations by minimizing or reducing the various forms of
barriers that restrict trade between the nations, free trade agreements are signed. The North
American Free Trade Agreements and the ASEAN Free Trade Area are regions where usually sign
Free trade agreements. However in this investigation, ASEANFree Trade Area(AFTA) will be

society. In this investigation, the impacts of AFTA in Malaysia is being pointed out as for their
benefits and their challenges faced.
The benefits of AFTA on Malaysia is that AFTA would also increase the demand in the service
sector which will further affect the intra regional trade, telecommunication, financial services,
transportation and even tourism, causing it to expand and improve. Hence, full employment for
the country can be achieved, unemployment is decreased, in the increase in job opportunities. For
example, in the early state in 2014, the unemployment rate is decreased from 3.7% to 2.9% since
1992. Therefore, it can be seen that there is a drop of 0.8% after the agreements are signed which
is a very good sign to the country.

Why I Get An A In Geography
There are many reasons why I should get an A in Geography. First, I am new to High School and
not used to the changes that come along with it. Another reason is that I have been very open
minded and I have tried my best to learn and understand the material being taught. Lastly, I have
been very busy balancing everything, and I have still made educationmy highest priority.
The first reason why I should get an A in this class is because this is my first year of high school
and I am new to everything the classes, the people, and the business. And yes, I realize that there
are 900 other freshmen who are new to it also, but it has been hard for me, I m not good at
adjusting to change. In 8th grade I wasn t on the Swim Team, so I had pretty much a clear day

I was in the G.A.T.E. Program (gifted and talented education) from fourth grade to sixth grade. I
am very open to learning new things and I enjoy learning new concepts. I have listened well to
the things being taught in class, taken notes, and I have participated in discussions and asked
questions so that I could learn the material well. I have also tried very hard to do the
assignments. I am a major procrastinator/perfectionist and I am not very good at doing my
work. This comes from being an Honors student; I don t like rough drafts . When writing a
paper, I want to sit down and write a perfect essay on my first try. When this doesn t work, I get
frustrated and I put off the assignment until the last minute. This has always been a problem for
me, but this year (Freshman year) I have tried my hardest to go easy on myself and just do my
work instead of procrastinating. Even though I haven t gotten it perfect quite yet, I am still trying

Comparing Moral Theories Of Kant And J. S. Mill
Throughout this paper, I will contrast and compare two moral theories in attempt to uncover what
one provides a better argument and can be applied as a universal moral code. The two moral
theorists Immanuel Kant and J.S Mill have created two distinctly different theories on morality and
how to develop a universal moral code. Both theories focus on intentions and consequences. Kant
believes that the intentions and reasons of our actions can be measured and defined as morally
correct, where as Mill believes that our intentions really play no role in morality, and that we should
focus on the consequences and outcomes of our actions to evoke the most happiness for the most
people. Even though both philosophers make incredibly different... Show more content on

Even though Kant does acknowledge that behaviour and actions that produce a good outcome
or consequence is in fact aligned with morality, he believes if you do anything that benefits you
is wrong. As a personal example, I volunteer and produce good actions because not only do I
know it is right, or the good thing to do, but it gives me a sense of purpose. I feel good putting
people before myself. Some people will do nice things for others because it makes them feel
good as well. In my opinion, if people love to help others and act in ethically sound ways because
it gives them a feeling of approval, and the action is causing a positive consequence, that should be
moral. It should be a wonderful thing that mankind can actually have feel good chemicals run
through there body when assisting humanity. Kant should take this into consideration that if we
feel good acting in good ways, it is more likely to be sustainable.
John Stuart Mill and Jeremy Bentham have been recognized as the founders of Utilitarianism.
Contrary to Kant s moral theories, Utilitarian s would disagree with most of Kant s theory. While
Kant believed that it is the intention of the action that should be recognized as moral or unmoral,
J.S Mill and Bentham would say that it is in fact the outcome of said action that determines morality.

The Use Of Anabolic Steroids
Picture yourself being the best athlete in the world and in your sport. After you picture that
imagine how you would feel if you were caught with steroids and banned. Your reputation is
tarnished and everything you have done has gone to waste. This is what has happened to past
athletes and is still happening to present athletes. Athletes have been using steroids since the 70 s
and use quickly ascended in the 80 s and so forth into the early 2000 s. Steroids should not be able
to be used by Athletes. It not only gives athletes an unfair advantage but it also hurts their body and

Some will argue that they are beneficial to the body and others will say they harm the body in a
big way. If each of us ought to be free to assume risks that we think are worth taking, shouldn t
athletes have the same freedom as anyone else?(Simon, 1). This was said by a professor at
hamilton college. He suggests that people take their own risks and thinks that if athletes take
steroids it s at their own use. There are several reasons to ban performance enhancing drugs:
respect for the rules of sports, recognition that natural talents and their perfection are the point of
sports, and the prospect of an arms race in athletic performance.(Murray,6). President of Hastings
center Thomas Murray thinks PED s should be banned. He says athletes disrespect the sport while
using drugs. He also says that taking drugs destroys the description of sports and that is natural
talent and perfection. He finally ends it by saying drugs destroy the competitive nature of all sports
and turns it into a game of

A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay
Introduction
In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious
institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open
market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method,
findings of the study, and the discussion.
Theory and Hypothesis
The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm
shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a
generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a
certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services,
spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations
(Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be
considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of
importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive
outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and
functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are
also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character
(Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the feelings

The Federalism Of The United States
Americans utilize the Federalism idea as putting into effect the Constitution for Federal, State, and
Local governments. These areas are served as different areas with different needs and goals within
the federalist theory. The National Government has expressed powers over the nation and subjects
that effect our nation. The State has limited powers that are involved within the State s boundaries.
The local government is expressed to help regulate the states. All together the governments make
one unitary system that can metaphorically be described as a cake. The breakup of federalism
started out being broken up in layers, like a layer cake, with distinct separated powers of National
government and State. Accordingly, as the New Federalism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The arguments resembled that the Federalist held the upper hand since they were wealthy
landowners to take charge of the democracy. Conversely, Antifederalist were afraid to give into
signing the constitution in favor of the Federalist ideas because they felt it would grant too much
power to the National Government instead of the States. The dispute between the Federalist and
Antifederalist lead to, what is known today, as a breakthrough of famous Federalist Papers that
lead to the greater understanding of the Constitution. The Federalist Papers appeared as persuasive
writings developed by what we know today as historical figures that make up the founding fathers
of the ratification of the Constitution. The writings of the Federalist argued that they held the
privilege to secure the government to favor the economy. The Federalist wrote to convince the
public in the newspapers that their views and actions would create a perfect balance and protect
the Nation s people. On the other hand, Anti Federalist opposed ratification of the Constitution in
favor of the federalist ideas. The Antifederalist persuaded that the Federalist would favor slavery,
and people s rights would be in danger. The two groups feuding created an important factor in the
U.S. Constitution. Like so, the Federalist considered the Antifederalist ideas and managed to
compromise a Bill of Rights to be added to the Constitution in favor of absolute security to people s
rights

the aches knowing there was a new world ahead of me. Entering Belize, the amount of green I

tell that this trip would be one for the books and what a big book that would turn out to be. We
were immediately greeted by our tour guide Manuel, whose humor and benevolence carried us
through our trips entirety, and created for each of us timeless and precious memories. Without

The Religion Of The Hajj
Throughout time, many aspects of life have changed in drastic ways. One common thing around
the world, no matter where you are, that has evolved is over time is religion. One religion that
has changed has been Islam. Something that unites all Muslims is a common belief they have;
The Five Pillars. These Pillars allow the Muslim community to become one regardless of their
social statue. One of the most changed of these would be the Pilgrimage to Mecca. Also known
as the Hajj, Every adult Muslim who if physically and financially able is expected to perform the
pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia at least once in his or her lifetime. (Wired.com) In the pre

This caused an increase in the total population of Muslims. This also caused a mass increase in the
number of Muslims that participated in the Hajj every year. Another problem that modernity
presented to the Hajj was the constant fighting that was going on in the areas where Islam was
dominant. Although there are more Muslims in Southeast Asia, the Middle East s population is
91% Muslim. Even though majority of the citizens in this region practice the same religion, they
are often very different. These differences of Islam caused fighting and warfare all over the
Middle East, and made traveling through these regions very different. Today, many of the same
problems apply. One of the biggest problems that the Muslim community had pertaining to the
Hajj was the massive amount of people who attended each year. In 1941, there were about
24,000 pilgrims from countries other than Saudi Arabia. In 2013, there were 1,379,500
international pilgrims that took the pilgrimage and about 800,000 Saudi Arabians took the Hajj.
Combined, over 2 million pilgrims traveled to Mecca in 2013 for the Hajj. This causes many
problems for the city of Mecca. Mecca has a population of about 1.6 million residents, over the 5
days of the Hajj, their city holds over two times as many people as it does the rest of the year. This
overpopulation causes chaos throughout the entire city as pilgrims try to visit.

How to Communicate with a Fish

determined by many factors, including the type of material. Two types that I prefer are graphite
and fiberglass. The combination makes a high quality, resistant, yet flexible, pole that gives just
enough to fool the fish into thinking they are about to eat breakfast. The handle should be made
of cork and should also be of a high quality, light material, allowing a comfortable grip. The right
cork can also transmit the vibrations of the big bass nipping at the worm. You have selected the
perfect pole, now it needs the precise reel to bring those fish in. There are many types of casting
reels. My choice is the bait

Significance of Section 3 and 4 of the Human Rights Act 1998
The power to strike down Acts of Parliament is defined as the power to declare legislation invalid
because it is unconstitutional. This paper will critically assess sections 3 and 4 of the HRA 1998
by defining them, reviewing case law surrounding their use, and by evaluating the powers that they
give to the judiciary. By doing so, it will demonstrate that section 3 gives judges powers that are
not significantly different from the power to strike down Acts of Parliament, whereas section 4
does not.
Definitions
Section 3 of the Human Rights Act (HRA) 1998 provides that primary and subordinate legislation
must be read and given effect in a way which is compatible with Convention rights . This
provides judges the power to interpret and amend legislation so far as it is possible so that it is
in accordance with Convention rights. There is no need for ambiguity in wording of the act to use
section 3 and it does not affect the validity of the Act notwithstanding the Act being incompatible
with Convention rights. There are limits on judges ability to use section 3 which restrict cases in
which it can be used. First, section 3 cannot go against the grain of the fundamental purpose of the
legislation in question. Second, judges can only go so far as possible when interpreting legislation.
The means that judges are restrained by the plain words of the provision and cannot stray from it s
meaning so far as to completely amend it.
Next, section 4 of the HRA 1998 provides that

If a current is flowing, self inductance tends to keep it from building up. Henry found that self
inductance is greatly affected by the configuration of the circuit, especially the coiling of the wire.
He also discovered how to make non inductive windings by folding the wire back on itself.
At the same time Henry was doing all this, another physicist, Michael Faraday was doing similar
work in England. Henry was slow in publishing his results and was unaware of Faraday s work,
therefore Faraday is recognized as the discoverer of mutual inductance, which is the basis of
transformers, while Henry is only accredited for the discovery of self inductance.
At the age of 35, Yales geologist, Benjamin Silliman, was consulted regarding the possible
appointment of Henry to Princeton. Silliman s response was negative in saying that Henry has no
superior in our country, and Henry, who was modest, defended the fact that he never graduated
any colleges and he is principally self educated. Henry therefore got the job. His initial salary at
Princeton was $1,000 per annum plus a house. The Trustees also provided for $100 for the
purchase of a new electrical machine. At Princeton, Henry worked with his brother in law, Stephen

Human Genome Editing Essay
Human genome editing was once viewed as an unattainable goal. It was seen as something that
was only seen in sci fi movies. However, thanks to rapid improvements in biotechnology, it is no
longer a question of if, but a question of when.
According to the Center for Genetics and Society, human genome editing is a type of genetic
engineering in which deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is inserted, deleted, or replaced in the genome
(genetic material) of a living organism. This deliberately changes the genes passed onto the
children in other words creating genetically modified humans. The changing of DNA can be used
to help those suffering with genetic diseases or syndromes or even to give a child blue eyes.
Human genome editing is a current debate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also beneficial to plants. Genetically modified plants, also known as GMOs, have become a
hot topic to debate. A GMO is a result of artificially altering a plant s DNA. The idea of a GMO
has been around since the beginning of the agricultural revolution. If one crop had more berries
on it than another, a farmer would use the seed of the crop with more food. This causes the plant s
offspring to have more berries than the average crop. The trend continues until all crops left have a
larger amount of berries than usual. Michael Specter, a journalist focused on science and
technology, furthers this idea by :
All the food we eat every grain of rice and kernel of corn has been genetically modified. None of it
was here before mankind learned to cultivate crops. The question isn t whether our food has been
modified, but how.
However, genetic modification has advanced, with changes to increase the plant s resistance to
insects and weather. In addition, they have also been used to elongate shelf life, to change the
taste of a food, or to adjust the nutrient value in a food. Food can be shipped to more remote areas
and survive in weaker growing conditions. As the population of the world is ever increasing, having
the ability to modify food gives reassurance that humans will always have enough to

Typewareness In Adrain Frutiger
Moreover, the drive to the core of unawareness is also evident in the realm of graphic design and
type design. In Adrain Frutiger, one of the most well known type artist s eyes, for a typeface to go
unnoticed is the greatest compliment for a type designer and a typographer can receive (Linotype,
2009). The purpose of a typefaceis to communication. Only when a typeface becomes
transparent or invisible will it communicate contents or ideas efficiently without pushing itself
forward (Haley, 2012). The whole point with typeface is for you not to be aware it is there
Frutiger said and made an impressive comparison: If you remember the shape of a spoon with
which you just ate some soup, then the spoon had a poor shape . Furthermore, in light of the
current situation, technically speaking, everything becomes possible, typefaces can be easily
shaped into any forms enlarged, reduced, condensed or expanded, slanted and deformed, all
within seconds. It is a time for type design step out into a new field, beyond technology, the field

plants, structures, or costly machines, instead its primary resource could be regarded as its
intellectual capital, as it is in areas, for example, counselling, law, finance and advertising. The
significant issue with scholarly capital is that it has legs and strolls home each day. At the same
rate experience exits the entryway, fresh graduates with little or no experience strolls in the door.
Regardless of whether numerous software companies acknowledge it, they confront the test of

Alice s Adventures in Wonderland
Is Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as absurd and nonsensical as it seems to be without any traces
of morals hiding underneath the bizarre shaped tea cups and crooked smiles? Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland, written by an English author in 1865 under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, contains
obscurities that leave people uncertain due to the nonsense. The novel holds many obscurities, such
as a disappearing Cheshire Cat, a personified rabbit, and a caterpillar who smokes from a hookah.
These characters hold a common feature of madness, yet the nonsense of this novel relates to the
nonsense of Lowell High School, a public school that piles bricks of pressure on their students
leading them to madness. Although, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland
contains a series of puzzles
that seem unsolvable, it symbolizes a strong foundation that helps Lowell High School ninth
graders gain knowledge about surviving the competitive school. Out of the whimsical growth
changes of Alice, a ninth grader learns to present themselves as their true self. In the novel, Alice
grows and shrinks frequently; she finds this very confusing, especially when a talking Pigeon
mistakes her for a serpent when she drinks potion that makes her neck longer. (Carroll, 34 35)
When Alice eats, she grows and as she drinks, she shrinks. Alice feels uncomfortable in her skin
and it frustrates her that she cannot achieve the right size. As Alice struggles to maintain a
comfortable physical size, she does not realize that

How Did Adolf Hitler s Rise To Power
Adolf Hitler s young life actions and outcomes made him into the man he was. He fought in

power from the death of the previous man in power. During his time of power Adolf started the
Holocaust which affected the lives of millions, and killed millions of innocent people, he did so
because of a belief of the Jews in 1918. Hitler ended up dying in the end just like any other

Position Paper On Declaration Of Independence
Position Paper
The Declaration of Independence states all the reasons why the colonies considered themselves
independent from England. Thomas Jefferson didn t believe in the reasons stated in the
Declaration of Independence. He simply used ideas from others to justify it. Jefferson says that all
men are created equal , and because of this they have certain unalienable rights. Thomas Jefferson
didn t think all men were equal. He refers to the Indians as the merciless Indian savages, whose
known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions. From
the way in which he describes them we can assume that he considered them inferior and
uncivilized. He was also a slave owner. A man, who did not believe that Indians and black people
are men couldn t use the idea that all men are created equal.
Jefferson says that among the unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These rights were originally John Locke s ideas, with the exception that he believed that property
was an unalienable right. The fact that Jefferson uses the pursuit of happiness instead of property is
proof that he didn t believe in these rights. If he really believed in them he would have mentioned
property. Perhaps the reason why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tax Reform For Small Businesses
Executive Summary
Tax reform is the crucial component in Government s policy agenda so as to frame more
employment, production, and opportunities. It is mostly initiated for the improvement of levy
policy in order to implement social as well as the economic benefits. This policy paper explores
and suggest tax reforms for small businesses in Australia and also analyzes the various
consequences of its impacts in terms of unemployment, poverty, inequality, and on the overall
economy. Since much of the emphasis is on taxation and incentives at the same time, this paper also
discusses options for providing loans to startups and small scale industries.
This policy paper suggests that how Australian Government can transform its legislative system
and design its tax for small companies and businesses in such a way to overcome the threats
brought forward by the 21st century in order to sustain and promote its social as well as the
economic progress.
This paper further puts light on the fact that how taxes in regards to small businesses should be
lower and whatever taxes are imposed must be paid up on time. The tax policy should be designed
in such a way that it fosters entrepreneurship rather than compensating intrusive tax outlining.
Wherever feasible some recommendation has been put forward to streamline the tax plans on small
businesses in order to fit taxation system from the frame of Business workouts in this modern era.

How Is Holden Caulfield A Hero
Don t ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody (Salinger 214). Much of
the story Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger consists of Holden Caulfield s social interactions with
others and his adventure home after being expelled from what seems like just another school
amongst many in his history. It goes without saying that JD Salinger has made a classic hit novel
through the integration of an eccentric main character and an unconventional plot. Although the
plot is abnormal, the oddity translates into something noteworthy as the book still retains the
noteworthy qualities of any other award winning book.
The exposition of Catcher in the Rye depicts troubled youth Holden Caulfield on his last day

Three Dimensional Printing Is An Additive Manufacturing...
THREE DIMENSIONAL PRINTING TECHNOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
Three Dimensional Printing or 3D Printing is an additive manufacturing process of creating a wide
variety of products covering diverse sectors of manufacturing. It is called an additive process
because of the fact that material is added in this process of manufacturing instead of machining it
out from a base substance.
The basic principle behind the working of a 3D Printer is to convert a digital file into a three
dimensional model by adding material layer by layer to obtain the entire object. It is a sequential
process of depositing material in successive layers on the basis of the digital model prepared by
CAD Software.
But just preparing the 3D Model is not the end of the manufacturing process. To enhance the
existing properties of the object further and to attain some specific properties, the object needs to
undergo some other operations as sintering (in case of ceramics to obtain the required strength and
high temperature stability).
STEPS INVOLVED
1. 3D Model Design
The first step of this process is to design the model of the object of desire using Computer Aided
Design (CAD) Software. The model should be the exact replica of the object to be created by 3D
Printing. In the 3D Digital Model itself we need to slice the object into very thin layers of about
0.03 0.1mm thickness. These layers will serve as the guidelines for the printer to print the object.
2. Selection of Material
The next step will be to feed the

Serving as the number one source of our plastic use, companies opt for plastic containers
because it s easy, feasible, and convenient. Food packaging alone makes up for 30 40% of
landfills with much of that plastic being carried into the oceans. Going off of this, a new
concept that s quickly becoming popular are package free grocery stores. These cost effective
grocery stores have everything you could possible need in bulk form and consumers bring glass
or reusable containers, or cloth bags and fill them with the food they need. First popping up in
cities like Berlin, Vienna, and Barcelona, many are finding this a more sustainable and eco friendly
option resulting in these sort of grocery stores quickly spreading across the ocean, with the first
one in the United States expected to open in Brooklyn, New York. Business operators are extremely
optimistic that this could serve a very impactful solution to getting rid of unnecessary plastic. (Che

In conclusion, it should have been learned that the issue of plastic pollution has become ruinous.

Kony s Killing In Uganda Essay
Kony was a master at recruiting his soldiers and workers. To keep his people under his control,

They will hack away their ears, lips, hands and feet with michetties every time they strike a

return if they ever escape. So in other words, they are forced to kill in this army no matter what
and they will not be able to escape from the army because Kony gives them a special potion that

for making a morally right decision. Treacy s mothergreatly influenced him and the way he
makes decision throughout his life. He recalls his mother saying, If you go a day without using
your hands, you die (39). He calls this ..a principle that influences the way I do things (39).
Furthermore, he goes on to explain that his mother ..always used her hands (39). You can notice
the significance of using hands in the family. It was a lesson deeply engrained in Treacy. A
lesson he will always remember through his mother. After all, our parents are responsible for

Impact of Fuel Price Deregulation in India
Impact of Fuel Price Deregulation in India
Introduction
Empowered group of Ministers on Friday, 25th June 2010, took a decision to decontrol the petrol
prices increasing it by 3.50 per litre that of kerosene by Rs 3 a litre. While petrol is mainly used by
the middle class for cars, kerosene is used by the poor for power.
Diesel prices rose by Rs 2 per litre and might be freed up in the future. Cooking gas prices were
raised by Rs 35 a cylinder.
Govt. has indeed taken a bold step by deciding to decontrol prices of Petrol increase the prices of
Petrol, diesel and Kerosene prices. However, this move of UPA govt. is likely to have some
implications. In these tough times, when, rising inflation is a continuous cause of concern, ... Show

This too has contributed to the fiscal deficit.
Fiscal Deficit
How the fiscal deficit shall decrease in the long run can be understood with the help of following
equation;
We know that
Y = C + I + G + (X M)
Here,
Y: GDP or National Income
C: Private Consumption Expenditure
I: Private Investment Expenditure
G: Govt Expenditure on Consumption and capital formation
X: Export
M: Import
Also
G = Taxes Subsidies Govt. Expenditures
For India G is negative at the moment to the extent of 4.12 trillioin rupees. In other words, the
revenues generated by the govt. through taxes are less than the expenditures it has incurred.
Now, since subsidies have been reduced therefore Govt saving shall increase which may then be
put into some other use. However, withdrawal of subsidy would also mean more private
consumption and less private savings but that is not going to have any impact on Fiscal deficit
which is nothing but Govt. Income (Taxes) minus Govt. Expenditure.
Impact on retail oil market
The threat of diminishing market share looms large before the state owned firms such as Indian Oil
Corp, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd, which control more than 95
per cent of about 40,000 refined fuel pumps operating in India although they will gain from market
rates of gasoline and diesel. State run retailers were anticipating a revenue loss of $24.4 billion this
year, based on an

  • 2. theories of sociology Running Head: CLASSIC THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY 1 CLASSIC THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY Abstract The purpose of this essay is to discuss the three basic theories of sociology. The three basic theories of sociology are functional, conflict, and symbolic interactionism. These theories are studied on the micro or macro level. The micro level is the sum of interactions between people and groups. The micro level analysis is based on small groups and individuals versus the macro level which is viewed on a larger scale and looks at society as a whole. In the functional theory members of society share a common interest of values, beliefs, and behavioral expectations. In the conflict theory there is a constant struggle between resources and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One change or shift in society can either make optimal opportunities to the community or create the start of a downward spiral. I have found that all three theories are based on society and how an individual person or a group of people acts or behaves greatly affects each of these theories. It is amazing the amount of changes that a person can go through by having to deal with social changes. Lastly, in order to explain which theory best describes our social reality we need to define what social reality means. Social reality is basically created through social interactions, individual motives, and actions. It is a little difficult for me to choose one theory that relates to our social reality that we live in today. I feel that we could easily fall under each theory depending on the circumstances. The functionalist theory is made up of different parts that all work together like a puzzle to build stability or a strong foundation. This theory involves CLASSIC THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY families and large communities that have a strong bond formed to support one another. We must support and invest in our schools and churches to make a difference in our community. If we lose our church due to lack of finances then our community could lose its faith. The conflict theory is generally when there is a struggle for resources. Let s face it, today we as a society are struggling with obtaining resources needed as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Man From U.n. The Man from U.N.C.L.E I recently went to go see The Man from U.N.C.L.E., a movie reboot of the television series of the same name that ran from 1964 1968 starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. I never saw the original television series, so I went into the movie theater with no idea what to expect. The movie is set in the 1960s, during the height of the Cold War. A Nazi nuclear scientist who collaborated with the Unites States after the end of World War II has gone missing. His research could fast track nuclear weapon making and therefore upset the uneasy balance that has held since the end of the war. C.I.A. agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) is sent to collect the scientist s estranged daughter, Gabby Teller (Alicia Vikander), from East Berlin to have her help locate her father. KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) is sent on the same mission for the Soviet Union , but fails to stop Napoleon and Gabby from escaping over the Berlin Wall. When it becomes clear that the scientists is being held by an Italian criminal organization that were Nazi sympathizers, the C.I.A. and KGB decide to run a joint operation with their top two spies to retrieve him in order to ensure there is not another war. • 5. Criminal Behavior And The Lack Of Education Criminal behavior is something that affects everyone, even if you don t particularly engage in the act itself. Every time a crime is committed, we often find ourselves wondering what led that person to do that crime. We wonder why they did it because it is something that we could never do, so therefor we cannot fathom the act of engaging in criminal activity. Some people feel that people only engage in it just because they lack the thing that they try to steal or because of their specific background and race. In actuality, there is a link between criminal behavior and the lack of education. However there is also a link between the attainment of education and criminal behavior. There are several ways that theories suggest the affect that education can have on decisions that a criminal may make beforehand. According to chapter seven (Conformity, Deviance, and Crime) of the textbook Introduction to Sociology, functionalist theories along with Emile Durkheim and his concept of an anomie, which is a situation where social norms loose their hold over individual behavior gives us insight into the struggle between education and criminal behavior. Functionalist theories see crime and deviance resulting from structural tensions and a lack of moral regulation. • 10. Comparing Moral Theories Of Kant And J. S. Mill Throughout this paper, I will contrast and compare two moral theories in attempt to uncover what one provides a better argument and can be applied as a universal moral code. The two moral theorists Immanuel Kant and J.S Mill have created two distinctly different theories on morality and how to develop a universal moral code. Both theories focus on intentions and consequences. Kant believes that the intentions and reasons of our actions can be measured and defined as morally correct, where as Mill believes that our intentions really play no role in morality, and that we should focus on the consequences and outcomes of our actions to evoke the most happiness for the most people. Even though Kant does acknowledge that behaviour and actions that produce a good outcome or consequence is in fact aligned with morality, he believes if you do anything that benefits you is wrong. As a personal example, I volunteer and produce good actions because not only do I know it is right, or the good thing to do, but it gives me a sense of purpose. I feel good putting people before myself. Some people will do nice things for others because it makes them feel good as well. In my opinion, if people love to help others and act in ethically sound ways because it gives them a feeling of approval, and the action is causing a positive consequence, that should be moral. It should be a wonderful thing that mankind can actually have feel good chemicals run through there body when assisting humanity. Kant should take this into consideration that if we feel good acting in good ways, it is more likely to be sustainable. John Stuart Mill and Jeremy Bentham have been recognized as the founders of Utilitarianism. Contrary to Kant s moral theories, Utilitarian s would disagree with most of Kant s theory. While Kant believed that it is the intention of the action that should be recognized as moral or unmoral, J.S Mill and Bentham would say that it is in fact the outcome of said action that determines morality. A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay Introduction In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method, findings of the study, and the discussion. Theory and Hypothesis The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character (Markstorm, 1999). Even though majority of the citizens in this region practice the same religion, they are often very different. These differences of Islam caused fighting and warfare all over the Middle East, and made traveling through these regions very different. Today, many of the same problems apply. This paper will critically assess sections 3 and 4 of the HRA 1998 by defining them, reviewing case law surrounding their use, and by evaluating the powers that they give to the judiciary. By doing so, it will demonstrate that section 3 gives judges powers that are not significantly different from the power to strike down Acts of Parliament, whereas section 4 does not. Definitions Section 3 of the Human Rights Act (HRA) 1998 provides that primary and subordinate legislation must be read and given effect in a way which is compatible with Convention rights . This provides judges the power to interpret and amend legislation so far as it is possible so that it is in accordance with Convention rights. There is no need for ambiguity in wording of the act to use section 3 and it does not affect the validity of the Act notwithstanding the Act being incompatible with Convention rights. There are limits on judges ability to use section 3 which restrict cases in which it can be used. First, section 3 cannot go against the grain of the fundamental purpose of the legislation in question. Second, judges can only go so far as possible when interpreting legislation. A GMO is a result of artificially altering a plant s DNA. The idea of a GMO has been around since the beginning of the agricultural revolution. If one crop had more berries on it than another, a farmer would use the seed of the crop with more food. This causes the plant s offspring to have more berries than the average crop. The trend continues until all crops left have a larger amount of berries than usual. In Adrain Frutiger, one of the most well known type artist s eyes, for a typeface to go unnoticed is the greatest compliment for a type designer and a typographer can receive (Linotype, 2009). The purpose of a typefaceis to communication. Only when a typeface becomes transparent or invisible will it communicate contents or ideas efficiently without pushing itself forward (Haley, 2012). Alice s Adventures in Wonderland Is Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as absurd and nonsensical as it seems to be without any traces of morals hiding underneath the bizarre shaped tea cups and crooked smiles? The novel holds many obscurities, such as a disappearing Cheshire Cat, a personified rabbit, and a caterpillar who smokes from a hookah. These characters hold a common feature of madness, yet the nonsense of this novel relates to the nonsense of Lowell High School, a public school that piles bricks of pressure on their students leading them to madness. • 36. Three Dimensional Printing Is An Additive Manufacturing... THREE DIMENSIONAL PRINTING TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION Three Dimensional Printing or 3D Printing is an additive manufacturing process of creating a wide variety of products covering diverse sectors of manufacturing. It is called an additive process because of the fact that material is added in this process of manufacturing instead of machining it out from a base substance. The basic principle behind the working of a 3D Printer is to convert a digital file into a three dimensional model by adding material layer by layer to obtain the entire object. It is a sequential process of depositing material in successive layers on the basis of the digital model prepared by CAD Software. But just preparing the 3D Model is not the end of the manufacturing process. To enhance the existing properties of the object further and to attain some specific properties, the object needs to undergo some other operations as sintering (in case of ceramics to obtain the required strength and high temperature stability). STEPS INVOLVED 1. 3D Model Design The first step of this process is to design the model of the object of desire using Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software. The model should be the exact replica of the object to be created by 3D Printing. In the 3D Digital Model itself we need to slice the object into very thin layers of about 0.03 0.1mm thickness. These layers will serve as the guidelines for the printer to print the object. 2. Selection of Material The next step will be to feed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
