This is the powerpoint i made about how i addressed and targetted my audience when making my music magazine.

1. -The masthead “NEWS” goes behind Fiona’s head which makes it look more intelligent, whilst the black writing below it goes over her head. I think this looks effective. -The green circle with an advert for free songs may encourage people to buy the magazine. -Fiona’s hair is a bright colour and so are her clothes, which can be attention grabbing for someone in a shop. She also has eye contact, which makes her more noticeable. -The blank space to the right of her head with no writing draws the readers’ eyes into the bright colours of her jacket. -The extra detail given underneath the key cover-line gives the reader more information so that they don’t have to buy the magazine to know what’s inside. -The banner at the bottom of the page is bright and attention grabbing and matches the colour of Fiona’s jacket whilst contrasting against the green background. -The key cover-line, which is “Fiona Gordon” fills a lot of the page and is eye catching. The change in colour on “Gordon” is also eye catching, and “Fiona” is in the same colour as the masthead which keeps a consistent colour scheme.-The secondary cover lines are in a dark orange-y red colour, which stands out against the green grass and matches the colour of Fiona’s jacket.-The large masthead with a black border can be eye-catching, and provides a colour scheme for the rest of the magazine.-I made the picture of Fiona and the Background as separate layers, so that I could make Fiona brighter and the background darker. This made her stand out and it also let me put the masthead underneath her head which I think looks effective.-I used a bolder, larger font for the number 17 in the green circle to make it stand out.-I think the grassy background is effective in portraying the Indie-Folk style of music. 2. -In my contents page I used multiple entry points, as the reader may be attracted by the large “News Presents”, the pictures, the editorial or the headings of ‘Features’, ‘Regulars’ and ‘Reviews’. -I enhanced some of the colours on my pictures, by editing the saturation of Fiona (the girl in the orange jacket). This can make the picture more attention grabbing.-The main articles of my magazine are highlighted through the use of different colours on the numbering. The bold numbering is green as this is a key colour from the image of Fiona. Other numbering for the less important is in a smaller black font like “4 On this week’s playlist” -The fonts are all formal, which makes it look informative but mostly reflects on the music. Indie music traditionally reflects on English traits, and so the formal fonts make it look like an informative newspaper. The picture of Fiona also reflects on the Folk side of the magazine, as folk can be associated with the countryside. -Although the fonts are formal the style of address to the audience is slightly chatty, with quotes like “Don’t worry, I’m back”. This will help the audience realize that the magazine isn’t too informative to the extent that it becomes boring. -Two of the pictures have large numbers in the corners which indicate which pages the pictures refer to. They are in bold fonts so they are instantly noticeable, and clearly indicate the very key features of the magazine. Contents

3. Left Hand Page of the Double Page Spread -Eye contact is given from Fiona which will be attention grabbing for the reader. -The grey picture contrasts with the green and orange writing and shapes. These colours have been picked from the other pictures of Fiona, wearing an orange coat standing in a field. -The grey picture also highlights the ‘newspaper’ vibe that the magazine gives off. This is also emphasized through the use of bold formal and script-italics fonts.-Fiona’s face is very bright on the picture so the writing does not take over the page. -A small page number in the corner also uses one of the key colours of my magazine, orange. This does not clash with anything on the page.-I purposefully used a darker shade of orange on the words ‘Has Been’ to give more of a range and contrast.-I used some circles of colour behind the writing which look like light rays, these also provide more of a background for the writing so that it doesn’t look to prominent on the page.

4. -The key colours of my magazine are emphasized on this page, as the green and orange colours stand out on the top image. -I used a grid formation when I made this page, as the top image takes up the top third, the writing is split into thirds across the page, the bottom image takes up the middle-bottom section and the fact file takes up the bottom right corner section. -This top image helps to portray Fiona’s quirky personality as there are many images of her. This picture stands out as it also looks odd but effective to have 5 of the same person standing in one field. -The drop capital ‘H’ sticks to the orange of the colour scheme, as does the quote which is in a green, bold font. The page number, gutter lines, heading (Fact File…) and underlines of the quote also stick to the colour scheme. I think this is effective and keeps the article from looking messy.-The black writing fits well with the colour scheme and does not clash, as I did not want to write the body text in orange or green.-The main picture of Fiona has eye contact with the camera and so keeps the attention of the reader. -Every time the masthead ‘News’ was mentioned I put it in a bold font to make it stand out.
