Malmare Throughout the History of Computers
Throughout the history of computers, malware has been developed and expanded. Today, several
different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities.
Virus
One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer virus is
malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a biological
virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives. Nowadays,
they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that download a virus
onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the computer unusable
(Department of Homeland Security).
Trojan
Yet another piece of malware is a trojan horse. This malware is much like the popular historical Trojan
horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous software
inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users remote access
to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive information (IT
Business Edge, 2014).
Phishing
As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of
malware that also targets computer users. These phishing scams usually come in the form of emails to
users. By attaching logos to the emails, phishing scams appear to be from legitimate business, such as
popular corporations, universities, or

Abraham Maslow s Work On Social Psychology
Abraham H. Maslow was born on April 1, 1908 in New York City, and passed away on June 8, 1970
in California. Dr. Maslow received all three (A.B., M.A. and Ph.D.) of his degrees from the University
of Wisconsin. He was also the founding editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the
Journal of Transpersonal Psychology. (Professional biography, 1970, p. 98). As a graduate student
enthusiastic by the work of Alfred Adler and John B. Watson, Maslow became a dedicated behaviorist,
and pursued his socialistic and humanistic (Maslow, 2000, p. 129). From 1933 to late 1936, Dr.
Maslow spent most of his research on monkeys and primates, his topic of focus revolved around
motivation, hunger, social interaction, sexual behaviour, and learning and reproduction of learned
behaviours. In 1937, Dr. Maslow began his work on social psychology, and was a prominent figure
and founder of individual psychology as well. His focus during that time included personality and
culture, dominance, and personality and social behaviour in women. At the start of 1941, it was
evident that his works began to broaden and he delved into abnormal psychology, leadership, human
motivation, and developed his famous theory of self actualization in 1943 (Professional biography,
1970, p. 100).
In an interview with Dr. Maslow, when asked what was his reason for heading a third school of
thought in psychology (during that time), he said that, humanistic concerns were part of the reason, a

Undertones In Coraline
If you want a movie to watch that is geared towards children but will give any sensible person
nightmares, Coraline is the movie for you. Coraline is a simple story about a young girl who moves
into a new house and is given a doll that looks exactly like her. With seemingly neglectful parents,
Coraline s only support is a cat that occasionally speaks, a strange young boy, and her eccentric
neighbors while reality is bent and twisted around her. This movie is made using stop motion and
puppets. The time and effort it took to make this movie is impressive on its own, but the nuances are
what makes Coraline a spectacular movie, along with the fact that Neil Gaiman wrote the book that
the screenplay is based upon. One thing is for certain, you will never look at sewing materials the
same way again. Coraline is the type of movie with a slow burn where ... Show more content on

Even better, it doesn t have any overtly sexual undertones that are common in the horror genre.
Because of this, Coraline has a universal audience; it appeals to both kids and adults. What translates
across both of those audiences are the malicious and dark undertones. These undertones work to
communicate that just because a person wants something, doesn t mean they should get it. Besides the
various creepy undertones are the more obvious aspects, such as the black button eyes the people in
the Other World have instead of normal eyes. The black buttons mark the characters as belonging to
the Other Mother, they are of her own creation. What makes this movie stand out amongst other horror
movies, other than the aforementioned lack of sexualization and gore, is the no strings attached happy
ending. Good conquers evil and said evil is trapped forever. Coraline s parents have learned not to take
their daughter for granted and Coraline is at peace with moving to a new place. Everyone is happy. It s

Foreign Students And Other Socio Cultural Contexts Essay
At present there is a growing volume of students who migrate from one Culture to another, which
represents a phenomenon that requires understanding the process Of adaptation or acculturation to the
different socio cultural contexts. I will begin by defining the term foreign students, it refers to
Individuals who reside voluntarily and temporarily in a country that is not their own in order to
participate in the international educational exchange, intending to Return to their country of origin,
once reached the purpose of their trip (Lin amp; Yi, 1997). Since World War II, governments have
supported the fact that an enormous number of students attending an institution in another country for
a long weather. Foreign students constitute approximately 10% of students from many parts of the
world. At some point, it is likely that one million students and schoolchildren who attend institutions
in the foreign (Hayes, 1998; Koretz, 1998). Countries that receive more students Foreigners are: the
United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australia. The Foreign students are part of the export
industry. For example: Estimates that in Australia the students who come from the middle class of the
Southeast Asian countries contribute about 2 billion annually to the Australian economy. In 1995 there
were 72,000 foreign students involving 2.3 trillion and 21,000 Jobs in the Canadian economy.

Off Campus Lunch Research Paper
Should we let a couple of car accidents take away off campus lunch for every student? Students
should have off campus lunch because it emits a sense of maturity and grants them better food choices
during lunch. To explain, off campus lunch is given as a reward for students who have excellent
grades and have followed all the school rules. Moreover, off campus lunch lasts for a whole class
period, which gives students opportunities to manage time and money while also enjoying their lunch.
However, there are some students who believe they do not need permission for off campus lunch and
feel that it s alright to arrive late to the class thus, ruining the fun for everybody.
Some students think that off campus lunch is a right or a free pass to

Taking a Look at Virtual Currencies
Virtual currencies such as bitcoin are portrayed as an innovative design in the distribution of money
throughout the world through the use of peer to peer transactions due to it being fraudulent and
impossible to counterfeit. However, bitcoin holders are anonymous and could act in a similar way to
black markets, their bitwallet is unregulated and untaxed. Using bitcoin as a currency also delves into
the problem where users purchase illegal objects and substances anonymously.
Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its launch in
2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for potential scams or
for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast, the bitcoin protocol
allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference. The fee for sending
bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as PayPal thus bitcoin is
considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is considered ethical because it is
unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted to remove the issue of fraud and
find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining personal data. This is because traditional
transactions require the transmission confidential data, making data vulnerable to interception by
hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). In regards to bitcoin, only a bundle of characters

What Is The 101 Damatian Dogs Essay
Once upon a time, a Disney film called 101 Dalmatians was released in the early 90 s, and it triggered
the demand of these black and white spotted dogs. Kids nagged their parents to buy them one. Sure
enough, the parents gave in, and were said to be in total panic to acquire these puppies, according to
an article by Mireya Navarro on the New York Times.
What makes these dogs special, aside from their spots, of course? Let s get to know more about these
dogs.
Basic facts
The Dalmatian is a medium sized dog with a sleek, muscular body and a graceful appeal. Males reach
around 23 inches tall, while females reach about 22 inches. They weigh an average of 45 to 60 pounds
(or 20 to 27 kilograms). They live an average lifespan of 10 to 12 years. ... Show more content on

However, most families may have figured out that the Dalmatians they bought as presents for their
kids were not in line with the dog s high energy and excessive shedding plus the effects of
overbreeding which resulted in genetic defects such as deafness and urinary tract issues, that may have
caused the surge in abandoned dogs.
Leslie Isom, a spokeswoman with the Humane Society of the United States, said it was exactly what
[they] had feared. She adds, What we re trying to get across is that Dalmatians require a tremendous

Most Vegeable Power Struggle In Propertius Poetry
Throughout Propertius poem 1.3, there are evident themes of vulnerability between the narrator and
his mistress, Cynthia. It is never clear which character is the most vulnerable and there is an
interchangeable power struggle. Propertius makes Cynthia s role in the poem unclear, as there are
allusions that Cynthia may be the narrator s wife. Cynthia s ambiguous role also adds to the power
struggle between the two characters since the narrator includes her domineering reproaches at the end
of the poem. One particular line, 16 (osculaque admota sumere et arma manu/oscula admota sumere
tarda manu), depending on the translation and manuscript, shows the extent of the narrator s inebriated
state. Since the poem is so heavy with mythological allusions, its interpretation may be best by ...

She also sings to the Orphean lyre, which refers back to the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. In Cynthia
s dialogue, she also implies to be the narrator s wife as she reproaches him for being at the doors of
another (line 35, tandem te nostro referens iniuria lecto alterius clausis expulit e foribus?). Through
the poem, we see Cynthia transition from vulernable maiden to praised goddess to an assertive faithful
wife. In power roles of the poem, there is juxtaposition between Cynthia and the narrator. At the
beginning while Cynthia is the sleeping maiden, the narrator is the spectator driven by passion and
drunkenness. Due to his drunken state, one might interpret line 10 (et quaterent sera nocte facem
pueri) as instead of boys, a group of cupids waving or their love torches. By interpreting arma as the
object of admota and a euphemism for penis, we can sense a potential rape (some scholars may take
positam or Cynthia as the object of admota). Therefore his inebriated state is fueling the temptation to
physically touch and even rape the sleeping

The War Of 1812 Pitted Two Western Powers
The War of 1812 pitted two western powers against one another, the newly established United States
of America and the ancient United Kingdom. Battles raged on for roughly two and a half years,
resulting in what many agree ended in a tie. What many disagree with is how the war came to fruition.
The two research papers within Retrieving the American Past seek to connect the dots. Firstly,
Reginald Horsman cites many concrete reasons behind the warfare: British impressment, calling back
the return of American soldiers deemed responsible to serve in the Royal Navy, upon the American
army, meddling with maritime trade between the States and European nations (notable France), and
inciting or taking part in Indian attacks against the colonies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although both papers contain the truth, Horsman s comes much closer to explaining the reasons
behind the War of 1812. McCoy speaks through the eyes of the Jeffersonian community, not the entire
American population. Due to its smaller scope of the relevancy, Mccoy s paper is less effective than
Horsman s. Drew McCoy s paper includes much more depth into the Jeffersonian mindset. The
American economy depended largely on the exportation of farm grown items. Clearly, access to
foreign markets is a must for success. These markets were made inaccessible by the presence of
British ships scattered about the passageways to France and other European countries. Jeffersonians,
peaceful by definition, suggested a lengthy embargo. This holdout would put pressure on Americans to
manufacture within their country, thus building a feeling of unity. However, the embargo lasted for a
little longer than a year and a half, yielding no positive results for America. Jefferson himself was
attacked and accused of resisting commercialism. It was soon decided that foreign commerce was best
for the country s economic welfare. As McCoy states, the Jeffersonians were presented with two
options: ... accept the failure of peaceable coercion to remove restrictions on American commerce and
submit to the British orders in council, or they could attempt, through military means, a forcible
assertion of America s right to an independent and unrestricted access to

herself. During the revision process, you wrote that I should explore what would happen if Rapunzel

The Power Of The Terra-Cotta Warrior
The Terra Cotta Warriors display the power he held in his empire through the image of art. Individual
artists created groups of warriors that would soon be assigned a pit. However, all warriors were made
from the same material. When building the Terra Cotta warriors they, were sculpted from heavy clay
found around Mt.Li, which allowed for the advancement of larger scaled warriors. Each head has a
different portrait on it, finding it that no 2 warriors are the same. ...The body of each warrior was made

these values with him to the afterlife, manifesting that the tomb brought to life Qin Shi Huangdi s

them purposefully inside the tomb. They placed them, facing east, most likely to guard against some
of Shi Huangdi s former adversaries among the Han, Wei, and Qi. Organized into divisions and units

Leadership and People
Promoting Servant Leadership in the Youth
Defining Leading and Leadership
Leading is defined as:
1. Influencing others to take action toward specific goal.
2. Guiding and directing on a course, and as serving as a channel. A leader is someone who has
commanding influence.
Leadership is defined as:
1. It is the process of influencing and directing activities of members toward goal accomplishment.
2. It is about ordinary people who care. People who care enough to get extra ordinary things done.
3. It is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which
inspire confidence.

And he is generous with his praise of my work I guess, because this reflects well on his leadership in
the eyes of outsiders. But at the same time and probably for the same reason, he comes down hard
when we make mistakes or he feels that we have let him down. I sometimes resent being so
uninvolved and feeling so unimportant. I would like to speak out and even disagree with the leader for
he is not right all the time, but I m not sure how this would go over with the others in the group. While
we spend a lot of time talking about the boss and his ways outside meetings, we tend to turn into
lambs when he is around. I guess it is because we would not like to hurt and upset him. So things keep
going on in the usual way.
2. Democratic or Participative Style
Characteristics of democratic leaders can be summed up in the following:
They are generally as concerned with maintaining group effectiveness as with completing the task to
be done.
They encourage members in their groups to express their ideas and feelings, because they believe that
such a climate leads to greater creativity and commitment.
If they encounter resistance or conflicts, they allow them to surface and they seek the help of their
groups in removing the resistance or resolving the conflicts.
They encourage joint decision making as well as shared goal setting.
They rarely set policies without explaining the reasons and proposing them to

Four Parenting Styles
When we are discussing parent methods we need to be aware there are many factors that affect how
parent develop their children. There is a social factor that affects how we develop our child. This
different factor affects parents and how they believe a child should act and behave. Mothers and father
both play a huge roll in a child development. How a mother and father choose to parent their children

and not warm. Uninvolved parents give children a lot of freedom and generally stay out of their way.
Some parents may make a conscious decision to parent in this way, while others are less interested in
parenting or unsure of what to do. Uninvolved parenting styles allow the child to do as they see fit. A

listened to and how the music industry would begin to market popular music. With the internet
becoming a fully formed popular resource, Napster was a free online service that specialized in
sharing MP3 files over the internet via P2P (Peer to peer) file sharing. P2P allowed users to gain
access to music; which usually is paid content, by searching for a Host (the source of the content) that
would upload and distribute this content for free. This meant that everyone across the world who had
access to internet could find libraries of albums from various recording artists that they would
generally have to pay hundreds of dollars to listen to. What made this so appealing to the masses was
that they could access it all for free. This significantly impacted the music industry because it had no
official way to control such a vast network. Why would consumer want to pay for music when they
could find it for free? The music industry which essentially makes a profit from record sales believed
that this online service would cost them millions. Rather than the music industry making sales from

of other users could download it for free. Those hundreds of users no longer need to purchase the

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Speech
In 1962, The United States of America was fighting off financial ruin and the Vietnamese, as well as
powerful business leaders. Spikes in the price of iron and wages for iron workers threw the unsteady
economy, back in the hole. The President at the time, John F. Kennedy, made a speech to the United
States citizens concerning these issues. He used many techniques to get his point across, such as a
powerful vocation, an appeal to patriotism, and factual data. President Kennedy s uses a great deal of
factual evidence to prove his point. He uses numerical data and fact based predictions statistics, to

Why Should Human Cloning Be Banned
Introduction Cloning is the process of manipulating DNA and embryonic stem cells to create an
identical living organism. The purpose of cloning is to find medical treatments and to reduce human
suffering (Rosalyn). Is it wrong? Is it disrespectful toward nature itself? According to Sir John
Gordon, cloning is not as playing God it is simply copying what nature has already produced
(Gordon). This new development established a series of debates because if there are technologies that
enable humans to artificially create mammal, sooner or later the same process will be performed on
human. This points to the question, should human cloning be banned? (Cloning: An Overview). Even

Overtime the fusions between cells occur and form an embryo. This could lead to the transfer of
healthy cell in an unborn child who contains diseases due to genetics from the parents. Unfortunately
the research was banned. There are a lot of obstacles standing between the researches of human
cloning that could possibly save many lives.
Diseases such as Alzheimer and cardiovascular diseases can be cured by the process of cloning.
Scientists have discovered a method of creating stem cells (an unspecialized cell that has the ability to
become any various differentiated cell) from an embryo. Genetic copies of DNA from a living healthy
person are inserted into an egg which divides in the process of cell division or meiosis, and grows into
an embryo. If the process is successful, stem cells are then extracted, with the healthy gene placed in
the DNA, the cells can divides and produce a healthful system. This whole procedure is for the
purpose of improving treatment. However, this action puts fear into a lot of people s minds of using
stem cells for other purposes (Healy). Stem cells can be produced for the desire of new treatments has
the potential to fight viruses in the human system and the prosperity will soon outweighed the terror of
human cloning.
Therapeutic cloning has the potential use stem cells to cure diseases. Although there are many benefits
the process of obtaining stem cells depends upon the massacre of the embryo. Nonetheless the benefits

wreck the shoes (56). This goes to show how sexist Nathan can truly be. All of these examples show
the way that women look at men and that the women are noticing that they are being treated wrong. If
it were in the perspective of Nathan, or any other man, he would see absolutely nothing wrong in the
acts downgrading women. All throughout the book, many of the women are displayed as very
hardworking figures who can get by absolutely fine without a man around, which was a main goal in
feminist literature. In the story, Leah says, Congolese men didn t treat their own wives and daughters
as if they were very sensible or important. Though as far as I could see the wives and daughters did
just about all the work (229). This is a way that Kingsolver depicts women as the harder working
figures, because all throughout the book, the men do almost nothing and the women do everything.
After Orleanna and the daughters have all left and decided to never come back, Leah says, With no
men around, everyone was surprisingly lighthearted (390). This is her way of saying that now that
they were finally away from Nathan, they finally felt free and happy. These examples show how little
the men did, and how the women could get along just fine without them in their lives. Another
feminist writing characteristic conveyed throughout the story is the act

Gilpin And Fiscal
Unlike Strange, Gilpin denies the notion that the nation state has been undermined by the rise of
international organizations and nongovernmental actors. While some research suggests that the market
is wrestling with the state for control over the commanding heights of the economy, Gilpin disagrees
and argues that the nation state continues to be the major actor in both domestic and international
affairs (Barma and Vogel, p. 535). The claim that the economic globalization and transnational
economic forces are declining the authority of the states is exaggerated, he says; for better or for
worse, this is still a state dominated world Barma and Vogel, p. 536). If there was an argument to be
made about the declining power of the states, it would be the decades prior to World War I when
markets were truly supreme and governments had little power over economic affairs (Barma and
Vogel, p. 537). As for the twentieth and twenty first centuries, states have pretty much remained a
major actor in the globalized economy. For example, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

expenditure, the federal government is able to positively or negatively affect economic activities, and
also be able to stimulate certain sectors of the market (Barma and Vogel, p. 540). While strict
restriction on monetary policies, particularly the flow of capitals can affect the level of trade and

Essay On Loss Of Innocence
When many people think of children, they think of their innocence. Now imagine those same children
getting their innocence ripped from them. At what point in that situation, did you think that those kids
deserved it, that they were the cause of the problem? That is exactly what is currently happening to
child soldiers. Those who think that they are the villains are not only drastically uneducated on the
situation, but are also ignorant to the facts. This is most likely due to the fact that they are not in an
area where this is occurring, which means they couldn t possibly fathom what the kids are
experiencing. To deny these children of amnesty for crimes they were forced to commit is beyond
cruel. These children are being brainwashed into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So to put blame on them, while others are at fault, is beyond unreasonable, it could be considered
borderline barbaric. Especially since child soldiers are trying to escape their horrible lives and the
things that they were forced to do. To deny these children the chance of safety and freedom is not only
a awful thing to do, but is also furthering the problem and the likelihood of their deaths. People
everywhere are often given chances to redeem themselves, so why would these children not get the
same treatment? In the world today, kids play role playing games with violence. But when children are
involuntarily performing actual acts of violence they are the ones who are blamed. To further prove
this point, Armed and Underage explains the situation of child soldiers in Africa and how the U.S. is
involved, Because the U.S. is helping to pay Somali soldiers, it is possible that the money for some
child soldiers may have come from American taxpayers. In other words, if the U.S. is knowingly
paying child soldiers to do their bidding, then why is there such controversy over whether or not they

a more software centric, online business model termed E commerce. This has become the popular
avenue for businesses as it mirrors the ideas of mobility. The sheer amount of data available, coupled
with the advanced operating systems and social media platforms, have created new possibilities for E

Compare And Contrast Hester And Dimmesdale
French poet Jean De La Fontaine once said, Nothing weighs on us so heavily as a secret does. Set in
the harsh Puritan community of seventeenth century Boston, Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet
Letter is a tale of a woman named Hester Prynne who is involved in an affair scandal. As a result she
is punished by the relentless society and is ordered to bear a scarlet A on her bosom for the remainder
of her life which stands for adulterer. However, the mystery as to who the father is of her newborn
baby, Pearl would remain a mystery for seven years. One of the town s most renowned figures, their
beloved minister Arthur Dimmesdale proves to be a true exhibit of Mr. Fontaine s saying since he is

Hester s scarlet letter is a piece of clothing, the SCARLET LETTER, so fantastically embroidered and
illuminated upon her bosom (Hawthorn 51). Her interpretation of the extremity of her sins is one of
self composure and calm. She views her sins solely as a violation in the natural order of the
environment and therefore cannot even perceive her sin as being evil except through outside influence.
Dimmesdale on the other hand, has a scarlet letter carved in his chest. This is revealed when
Dimmesdale was giving his revelation, in which he tore away the ministerial band from before his
breast. It was revealed! (Hawthorn 232). Dimmesdale s personal interpretation as to the extremity of
his own sins is a violation of God s law, which is the law that he is totally dedicated to and supported
by. Dimmesdale s interpretation of his sin is much more severe than Hester s, it is a violation and
direct contradiction of his own self consciousness and physical existence. Therefore the appearance of
his A, even though it is never directly described in the novel, must be powerful, broken, and brutally
dishonest (...a ghastly rapture; Hawthorne pg.95). Since the Scarlet Letter on Hester is visible to the
public, she was criticized and looked down on. This women has brought shame upon us all, and ought
to die (Hawthorn 49) is said by a female in the marketplace talking about Hester. She becomes a
stronger person through living this hard life.

A Simplified Version Of Kattwyk Bridge
ABSTRACT
This is model and a simplified version of Kattwyk Bridge and has been made under the constraints of
space, time and resources available in the lab. The Bridge mechanism has been divided in three
sections. The central section lifts above, while the two side parts remain intact with the supporting
angles. The lift mechanism used for the bridge is based on the pulley system involving three pulleys. A
string is passed through the two pulleys on either side of middle section and the pulley at the centre
synchronizes the motion of two pulleys and makes the motion centralized.
The angles are used to restrict the motion of central section allowing only the motion in vertical
direction to occur and provide the stability to the bridge structure. A chain is also used to stop the
central section at any desired height depending on the height of ship assuming a real case situation
thus saving the power. The mechanism used to lift the central section is due to the constraint of not
using any electric motor or gears. In real case situation, the power can be given by electric motors and
cables can be used. The four bridge supporting angles that connect the three sections of the bridge will
actually go till the bottom surface of the river.

Socialism
Today, more than ever, there is great debate over politics and which economic system works the best.
How needs and wants should be allocated, and who should do the allocating, is one of the most highly
debated topics in our current society. Be it communist dictators defending a command economy, free
market conservatives defending a market economy, or European liberals defending socialism,
everyone has an opinion. While all systems have flaws and merits, it must be decided which system is
the best for all citizens. When looking at both the financial well being of all citizens, it is clear that
market economies fall short on ensuring that the basic needs of all citizens are met. If one looks at

The population of unemployed and underemployed explodes. There is a vicious circle here. Because
so many seek work, wages are very low. Because one wage cannot support even a small family, more
and more family members must seek employment. This move adds to the pool of labor and further
depresses wages. (Syracuse U. Press) Further, if wages begin to rise in one country, other countries
seize the opportunity and lower their wages even further. With this cycle of falling wages and more
and more people needing jobs, poverty increases drastically. With wages so low, the owners of these
large companies get richer and richer the vast majority of wealth in a country becomes concentrated in
one small group of people. While this is good for those few, the vast majority of citizens are
shorthanded. Capitalism is an excellent system for the elite and for increasing efficiency, but as far as
providing for the needs of all of its citizens, it falls short. Thus, capitalism is a system that causes and
perpetuates poverty, and exploits its lower class. Capitalism, or market economies in general, are
systems of greed, and therefore support and commend corruption. In a capitalistic society, everything
is based off of greed and self interest. People are forced to provide their own means, because no one
else is going to do it for them.

Competition As A Monopolistic Competition
Competition in Smartphone Markets
Introduction
The competition in Smartphone Markets is a monopolistic competition, in which the products of each
firm are differentiated and the entry barrier is free. Products competing in the network industries have
network externalities.
Accordingly, this essay will deal with the following aspects of the question. Initially, the concept of
the monopolistic competition is present. Follow by the idea of the network effect theory. The multi
sided market and the core business strategies is analyzed and finally, the examination of the future of
the smartphone competition is shown.
What is the monopolistic competition ?
Monopolistic competition refers to a competition where monopoly exists, and is neither a perfect
competition nor an oligopoly. As the market competition become intense, the distribution of resource
becomes rational; therefore, the level of competition in the monopolistic competition is more intense
than it is in the oligopoly and perfect competition (Roberts et al, 1977). Another reason caused this is
that the products in the monopolistic competition can be easily replaced. Nowadays, smartphones of
different brands are similar on their appearance, details and even functions. The conditions for a
monopolistic competition to exist are as follows. Initially, the products in the competition have to be
differentiated. The differences can be in the quality of the products, the appearance, the label or the
sales conditions.

The Problem Of Stereotyping
In today s world there are many problems, that individuals have to deal with, one of these many
problems is stereotyping. Stereotyping is an exaggerated statement or portrayal of a group of people,
which does cause people to view a race or person of the different sex differently, the remarks made
may be very offensive to the group of people. When it comes to stereotyping between races, one race
might even try to feel superior by putting another down, these portrayals and mis conceptions may
hurt others and cause a feeling of hatred towards one another. People are different and many have
flaws but not everyone should be blamed for one thing. If one person of another race commits a crime

Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window Essay
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window, L.B. Jeffries, played by Jimmy Stewart, becomes completely
obsessed with spending all of his waking hours watching his neighbors from his wheelchair. He even
uses a camera to better his view and thus enhances his role as both a spectator and a voyeur. This
contributes to the creation of a movie being played right outside Jeffries window. In this movie within
the movie his neighbors lives become the subject for the plot. Each window represents a different film
screen, each which is focused upon only when Jeffries directs his attention to it. He witnesses both the

His wife seems to whine and constantly want him to be with her in bed. Upon this observation,
Jeffries gains the perception of marriage as a physically and emotionally exhausting life.
The majority of the film deals with the events occurring within the Thorwald apartment. In many ways
the Thorwalds marriage parallels Lisa and Jeffries relationship, except with a reversal in gender. Lisa
and Lars Thorwald, both mobile and healthy, strive to make their respective relationships work.
Thorwald brings his wife dinner in bed decorated with a rose. She only laughs at this gesture. On the
other side, Lisa cannot even gain Jeffries attention by sitting in his lap. Mrs. Thorwald and Jeffries,
who are both physically restrained, only complain to their partners. The Thorwald apartment becomes
of particular interest when Jeffries begins to suspect murder. He believes that Thorwald finally became
so tired of his nagging wife that he butchered her with a knife and saw. After some time he even
convinces Lisa of his accusation, which in turn adds another gazer to the rear window. This makes her
more important to Jeffries in that he can now discuss what is going on with someone who will listen.
She still does not obtain his full attention until she crosses over into the plot within the Thorwald
apartment. When Lisa becomes the subject of the gaze, then, and only then, is Jeffries attracted to her.

Persuasive Essay About Welding School
There are many colleges around the United States that involve courses over welding. It is all up to you
to decide what school you would like to go to to learn how to do the career you love. Midwest
Technical Institute, a.k.a MTI, is a highly appreciated school. Their program is very affordable to all
the students that decide to attend there. Also, unlike a normal university, MTI is only as long of a
program as the student needs to learn their field instead of four or more years. MTI is a school you can
go to in which you will not have to be in a humongous town or city. There is one welding school that
is not that far away from Virginia, Illinois. This school is located in Springfield, Illinois which is only
about forty five minutes away from Virginia, Illinois which is very reasonable for most people (Cost

town to where you do not have to deal with a lot of people. The location is a very reasonable place for
many people who want to stay close to home.
Another very reasonable part of MTI is that it is not all that expensive and can be very affordable for a
lot of people. The prices can vary depending on whether you are on campus, off campus and away
from home, or off campus and with your family. If you were to stay on campus, the total cost would

Bettelheim Fairy Tales
In the essay Fairy Tales and Modern Stories , Bruno Bettelheim argues that fairy tales can provide
children more reassurance than realistic stories. Bettelheim used examples like The Little Engine that
Could , The Swiss Family Robinson and Rapunzel to show how realistic stories and fairy tales both
affected children s thinking. The author claims that modern stories don t compare to fairy tales,
because they can t provide an outlet for children to work through their problems and emotions.
Bettelheim explains that fairy tales give children the reassurance and hope that there s a better future
that is waiting for them. He argues that fairy tales can have a more impactful effect because it can
offer escape and consolation for troublesome events in their lives. He even claims that modern stories

Throughout the essay, we see the use of comparison between modern stories and fairy tales, mostly
through the way it could affect children s thinking. Modern stories though they have good messages,
don t give children the necessary tools to take away, that a fairy tale can achieve. We see this in
examples such as The Little Engine That Could when she tried to apply the lesson directly to her life,
she ended up with the feeling of inadequacy. With The Swiss Family Robinson the girl had a difficult
life and this story gave her an escape fantasy but this isn t a typical story that most children can
identify with. With the fairy tale Rapunzel it made her feel like if she grew her hair out and imagine
herself as Rapunzel, that a prince would rescue her. Even claiming, that without the story, it would
have lead to worse circumstances in her life. What Bettelheim proves is that fairy tales give children
the opportunity to have an outlet for their problems, but it also teaches them about what good and bad
in the world. The fairytale simplifies all situations and makes them relatable to

language typical of philosophers, using shorter sentences, less complex vocabulary, humorous

suicide (11). In his novel, Galapagos, he creates a war that ends life on Earth with the exception of a

currently has to end our existence on this planet. In Timequake, Vonnegut said, I had to add, though,

gleefully rabid and racist, yahooistic murders of unarmed men, women, and children, murders wholly
devoid of military common sense. I said the word. It was a foreign word. That word was Nagasaki

killed civilians who had done nothing to deserve their fate. America had already proved it had the
power to destroy large masses of humans, yet out of cruelty, decided to drop the second a couple of

while that they actually built factories whose only purpose was to kill people by the millions. The
people were delivered by railroad train (Breakfast of Champions, p.137). War is hate.

Analysis Of Phantasmagoria s Wickedest Tale Of All
Phantasmagoria`s Wickedest Tale of All is a stage performance which consists of different stage play
like; The Conqueror Worm pt 1 5, The Churel, The Churel Dance/Solo and The Masque of the Red
Death by Edger Allan Poe. I think the Churel was most the longest among the few that were
performed. The Churel is about when a pregnant woman dies during the Hindu Festival of Lights
which they also call Diwali and they believed that the pregnant woman will turn into Churel and can
come back to hunt either their family or young men by sucking their blood or eating their flesh.
In this play The Churel performed by the Phantasmagoria`s was a beautiful pregnant woman who had
three brothers that were uncontended and jealousy of her no matter how pleasing she was to her
brothers. They were not satisfied because they were full of hate and jealousy that lead them to kill her
before her husband could come back during the Hindu Festival. Her body was cremated instead of
burying her upside down to prevent her from becoming Churel. Because they failed to bury her upside
down and perform some rituals to prevent her from becoming churel, she came back as churel to hunt
and killed his brothers one after the other and when the husband rushed to her, she also killed the
husband, not because she didn`t love the husband but because of what she has to turn into,
bloodsucker.

Influenza A Virus Essay
In the human body, there are commensal bacteria serving as part of the normal flora. Various viruses
can interact with these bacteria in order promote their infectivity. Poliovirus can bind with bacterial
lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for stabilization to prevent premature RNA release and improve cell
attachment to host cell through the poliovirus receptor. For retroviruses, specifically MMTV (mouse
mammary tumor virus), binding to LPS improve their chances of successful transmission. MMTV
bound LPS get binds to toll like receptor 4, which is a pattern recognition receptor of LPS. This event

`` The Custom House `` By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Journal Entry 1: The Custom House Romanticism is the movement in literature that emphasizes
inspiration, selfhood, and the authority of the individual. The purpose of The Custom House is that it
provides the framework for the main idea of The Scarlet Letter and it also describes Hawthorne s life.
The narrator, who shares similar traits with Nathaniel Hawthorne, takes a post as the chief executive
officer, or surveyor, of the Salem Custom House. The author s attitude toward his former job is that
the building extremely run down and the Custom House serves the small ship traffic going through the
port, but it is usually a quiet place requiring only minimal work. Hawthorne describes his fellow
workers as elderly and have been working at the Custom House their how lives. The only reason why
they are there is through family connections and they repeatedly tell the stories. So, what I take from
this is that he did not like his old job, the reason being is that he only speaks negative about everything
relating to his former job. Hawthorne addresses the reader directly and it causes an effect by showing
that he s trying to connect with all sorts of people. He describes the letter as scarlet, gold embroidered
piece of cloth in the shape of the letter A . Which makes me feel that if they put all that time into
making it look nice, that there is some type of importance related to it.
Journal Entry 2: Chapter 1 2 The narrator s attitude toward the Puritans is that

Epic Theatre Essay
Acting unit
September December 2016
Edmund Richmond price
Introduction
Within this final log I shall explain the two contrasting styles of theatre that were covered within the
lesson i.e. naturalism and physical theatre, include examples of exercises that were covered in the
lessons with examples of my notes and follow up with a conclusion and evaluation.
Attributes of Brechtian epic theatre
Firstly when watching a Brechtian piece the most apparent is that there is no offstage. When a
character no longer needs to be relevant the actor must instead simply blend into the background an
example of this in a production of the threepenny opera is that a beggar after talking to Mr Peacham
the beggar picks up a broom, the scene changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most physical theatre is devised in origin (the script is formed during a rehearsal), makes use of
music, dance and visual artistry as well as theatre.
The main aim of physical theatre is to challenge the proscenium arch thus breaking the 4th wall and
encourage the audience to participate so as to include the audience in the action with the end goal of
catharsis i.e. the 2 way transferal of emotion between audience and actor/actress
Modern physical theatre has been influenced most of all by mime and contemporary dance.
Physical theatre was started when a student by the name of jean louis barrault who rejected the notion
that mime should be silent, in doing so opening up many new possibilities and thus physical theatre
was born.
Simplistically physical theatre is a style of theatre that focuses more on movement than dialogue that
puts the human body at the centre of the process of storytelling e.g. if there is a building or monument
the actors will become that building or monument, physical theatre tends to also divide into 2
subgenres, either minimalism in which the set is rather basic and is more heavily reliant on the actors,
or baroque in which there is much lighting, special effects and high intensity drama.

Southern Renaissance Influence
The Southern Renaissance was a time during the 1920s and 1930s where there was a change in
southern literature. Even though most of the Southern Renaissance took place during the 1920s and
30s it was still affected by WWII. The Southern Renaissance is important because it saw a bunch of
new southern writers and affected southern literature. People say that the Southern renaissance ended
before WWII but it actually continued after WWII and was Affected by it. One example of how WWII
had an effect on the Southern Renaissance is ...the coming of the second World War and its aftermath
not only confirmed those changes but it created a modern day south that in numerous respects seemed
to bear little relationship to the community in which the leading writers of the Southern Renaissance
had been born a half century or so earlier (Rubin 463). This quote shows what the second world war
did to the south. The Southern Renaissance and WWII also had effects on segregation and black
novelists. One example of the effect the renaissance had on segregation is the period in which it
emerged saw the south decidedly on the defensive in its efforts to stave off challenges to segregation
(Abadie 14). A good example of how the renaissance affected black novelists is the depression in the
1930s and World War II in the 1940s are central events in American social history. Yet southern black
novels during these two decades rarely do more than hint at the effects either event had on the lives of

Drugs And Its Effects On The Field Of Medicine And...
The chirality of drugs has become important to understand in the field of medicine and pharmacology
today. Asymmetric approaches have been under investigation to synthesize chiral centers or separate
enantiomers of chiral molecules using chemical catalysts or enantioselective enzymes. With this is in
mind, the experiment performed in lab today exhibits the use of an enzyme catalyzed reduction to
fashion a chiral center. In this experiment, the enzymatic asymmetric reduction of 1 phenyl 1,2
propanedione (dione) was performed using Saccharomyces cerevisiae, baker s yeast, to produce (1R,
2S) 1 phenyl 1,2 propanediol. Baker s yeast is believed to contain 2 diacetyl reductases and an NADH
coenzyme that naturally and enantioselectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 90 minute reaction, the reaction was run to completion and TLC was conducted to analyze the
final product. In the 50 minute reaction, aliquots of the of the reaction mixture was obtained every 15
minutes to analyze the reagents and induce the progress of the reaction. To begin the first experiment,
the diketone was prepared by the addition of 1 phenyl 1,2 propandione into the reaction flask
containing baker s yeasts and water. A TLC plate was spotted with the starting reagent, the diketone,
and the chamber was developed using a 6:4 solvent combination of cyclohexane and t BME
respectively. The diketone s polarity was observed from the distance it traveled up the TLC plate, and
this distance was near the solvent front with an Rf value of __________________. At the end of the
90 minute experiment, the second TLC plate was obtained for the product, the diol, using the same
solvent combination to develop the TLC chamber. The diol s polarity was predicted to be much more
polar than the starting material due to its stronger intermolecular forces, such as hydrogen bonding.
For this reason, the diol s spot showed up closer to the origin and farther away from the solvent front
in contrast to the diketone. The Rf values demonstrate this as the diol had a relatively smaller Rf value
of _____________ compared to the diketone s Rf value of ___________. Continuing the

Jousting Before The Nineteenth Century
Jousting dates back to the 11th century. Before the real jousting, they had all out melee tournaments
where there were no rules or restrictions, and any weapons are allowed. It then became more
organized, and you could only attack with three tilts of the lance or three strokes of the sword, and the
same for both battle axe and mace. Before the 14th century, knights tried to kill the opponents, but
now they do not.
The more modern jousts began in the 14th century, when many members of nobility wanted a way to
show their courage, skill, and strength. Nobles required royal permits to fight and some hired knights
to joust for them. Heralds would promote by spreading news of tournaments, singing songs, and
writing poems for the jousters. If opposing sides in the war were fighting, knights from each side
would seek to face each other for honor off the battlefields. Jousting was a type of duel. When
chivalry was introduced, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bigger the bribe, the more the judges may rule in your favor. You may fight for the honor of a
maiden, and it may not end till a knight is knocked off his horse. Also, a lady may give the knight a
favor for defending her. A favor could be anything from a handkerchief to a platinum charm.
One of the most famous jousters was King Richard the Lionheart. He is said to be 6 feet 5 inches tall
and had fiery red hair. He also is just as feared a ruler, as a jouster. It is said that only one man has
ever unhorsed him. Another famous Jouster was King Henry the 8th. His Jousting career ended early
due to head injuries. Research has shown that Jousting may have lead to his quick anger by killing his
6 wives.
In conclusion, Jousting went from a bloody free for all to a gentleman s sport. Honor and respect were
mutual between the Knights. Jousts were a time to show your courage, skill and strength. Jousting is
still done today; you could say it s one of the oldest sports

Building A Computer That Can Handle Any Game
Computers consist of many different parts that, in order to perform a specific task, have to work in
unison. It s becoming more and more popular to build a PC rather than buying a pre assembled one
because many companies just rip people off. My fascination with building computers peaked when I
tried to play a game called Minecraft, but instead of the game loading up as it did on my friend s
computer, on mine it kept crashing. Minecraft is a game where players are all united in one world
where they have to work in order to survive. Unfortunately, my antique computer couldn t handle this
simple game; therefore, I never had the opportunity to play it. So I decided to build a super computer
that can handle any game. From that day on my passion for computers extended towards a whole new
level. Since I had little understanding about computers I needed to find a way to jumpstart my
knowledge. Even before determining what type of computer I wanted to build, I had to first study
computers, how they work and the different functions of all the components. Researching online and
watching numerous How to videos provided many answers to my questions. Having a stronger
foundation in computer assembly, I decided to finally step foot into the realm of building. I switched
on my computer and proceeded to the Newegg website, which is a trusted computer equipment
manufacturer. Pictures and descriptions filled the page as it was done loading, and I proceeded to
scroll through the

Communication Protocols And Functions Of Seven Layers Of...
ASSIGNMENT 6 COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS Data communication allows individuals and
companies to transmit or receive information from one point to another. For two or more devices to
communicate, there should be some mechanism or medium that can link them to help them achieve
their goals. This mechanism or medium is governed by rules or laws defining a format is called a
protocol [3]. This is because all communications between devices require that the devices agree on
proper format of the data. There are variety of standard protocols from which programmers can choose
based on the resources available and mainly on the requirements. For e.g. if reliability is very
important, then reliable protocols such as TCP should be used. Each protocol has its own advantage
and restrictions. Depending on several factors such as speed, reliability, simplicity, programmers
choose these protocols. In this essay, I am going to address about the networks and commonly used
protocols, functions of seven layers of the OSI model, TCP/IP protocol, and protocols used in wireless
communication. Technologies related to internetworking is growing rapidly day by day. A network is a
group of connected, communicating devices such as computers and printers. [1] When two or more
networks exists and communicate with each other, it is known as an internet. We know, Internet is the
most notable internet, which is composed of thousands of interconnected networks [1]. Any individual
or any organization such as

B4c Weaknesses
Most successful businesses around the world go to great lengths to analyze their respective company
to dial in their efficiency, growth, well being and overall success. One analysis that should never be
overlooked in business is the SWOT analysis. The SWOT analysis is part of a company s strategic
planning process where it connects its objectives and strategies to actionable tactics carried out by
employees. Specifically, SWOT is part of the situation analysis, where the company determines where
it stands on four key strategic areas to better determine what changes to make (The Purpose of a
SWOT Analysis, 2018). This analysis identifies the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to
company. The following analysis will be conducted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

improvement. According to the ATF, approximately 1.8 million new long barrel rifles and 740k new
shotguns are sold in the US each year. Additionally 135k replacement rifle and shotgun barrels sold
annually. Law enforcement and the military make up approximately 15% of the market, of which
almost all of their barrels are currently coated with chrome. B4C projects 15% market penetration at

  • 2. Malmare Throughout the History of Computers Throughout the history of computers, malware has been developed and expanded. Today, several different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities. Virus One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer virus is malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a biological virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives. Nowadays, they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that download a virus onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the computer unusable (Department of Homeland Security). Trojan Yet another piece of malware is a trojan horse. This malware is much like the popular historical Trojan horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous software inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users remote access to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive information (IT Business Edge, 2014). Phishing As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of malware that also targets computer users. These phishing scams usually come in the form of emails to users. By attaching logos to the emails, phishing scams appear to be from legitimate business, such as popular corporations, universities, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Abraham Maslow s Work On Social Psychology Abraham H. Maslow was born on April 1, 1908 in New York City, and passed away on June 8, 1970 in California. Dr. Maslow received all three (A.B., M.A. and Ph.D.) of his degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He was also the founding editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology. (Professional biography, 1970, p. 98). As a graduate student enthusiastic by the work of Alfred Adler and John B. Watson, Maslow became a dedicated behaviorist, and pursued his socialistic and humanistic (Maslow, 2000, p. 129). From 1933 to late 1936, Dr. Maslow spent most of his research on monkeys and primates, his topic of focus revolved around motivation, hunger, social interaction, sexual behaviour, and learning and reproduction of learned behaviours. In 1937, Dr. Maslow began his work on social psychology, and was a prominent figure and founder of individual psychology as well. His focus during that time included personality and culture, dominance, and personality and social behaviour in women. At the start of 1941, it was evident that his works began to broaden and he delved into abnormal psychology, leadership, human motivation, and developed his famous theory of self actualization in 1943 (Professional biography, 1970, p. 100). In an interview with Dr. Maslow, when asked what was his reason for heading a third school of thought in psychology (during that time), he said that, humanistic concerns were part of the reason, a very large part of ... • 4. Undertones In Coraline If you want a movie to watch that is geared towards children but will give any sensible person nightmares, Coraline is the movie for you. Coraline is a simple story about a young girl who moves into a new house and is given a doll that looks exactly like her. With seemingly neglectful parents, Coraline s only support is a cat that occasionally speaks, a strange young boy, and her eccentric neighbors while reality is bent and twisted around her. This movie is made using stop motion and puppets. The time and effort it took to make this movie is impressive on its own, but the nuances are what makes Coraline a spectacular movie, along with the fact that Neil Gaiman wrote the book that the screenplay is based upon. One thing is for certain, you will never look at sewing materials the same way again. Coraline is the type of movie with a slow burn where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even better, it doesn t have any overtly sexual undertones that are common in the horror genre. Because of this, Coraline has a universal audience; it appeals to both kids and adults. What translates across both of those audiences are the malicious and dark undertones. These undertones work to communicate that just because a person wants something, doesn t mean they should get it. Besides the various creepy undertones are the more obvious aspects, such as the black button eyes the people in the Other World have instead of normal eyes. The black buttons mark the characters as belonging to the Other Mother, they are of her own creation. What makes this movie stand out amongst other horror movies, other than the aforementioned lack of sexualization and gore, is the no strings attached happy ending. Good conquers evil and said evil is trapped forever. Coraline s parents have learned not to take their daughter for granted and Coraline is at peace with moving to a new place. Everyone is happy. • 5. Taking a Look at Virtual Currencies Virtual currencies such as bitcoin are portrayed as an innovative design in the distribution of money throughout the world through the use of peer to peer transactions due to it being fraudulent and impossible to counterfeit. However, bitcoin holders are anonymous and could act in a similar way to black markets, their bitwallet is unregulated and untaxed. Using bitcoin as a currency also delves into the problem where users purchase illegal objects and substances anonymously. Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its launch in 2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for potential scams or for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast, the bitcoin protocol allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference. The fee for sending bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as PayPal thus bitcoin is considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is considered ethical because it is unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted to remove the issue of fraud and find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining personal data. This is because traditional transactions require the transmission confidential data, making data vulnerable to interception by hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). Through the poem, we see Cynthia transition from vulernable maiden to praised goddess to an assertive faithful wife. In power roles of the poem, there is juxtaposition between Cynthia and the narrator. At the beginning while Cynthia is the sleeping maiden, the narrator is the spectator driven by passion and drunkenness. Due to his drunken state, one might interpret line 10 (et quaterent sera nocte facem pueri) as instead of boys, a group of cupids waving or their love torches. Battles raged on for roughly two and a half years, resulting in what many agree ended in a tie. What many disagree with is how the war came to fruition. The two research papers within Retrieving the American Past seek to connect the dots. Firstly, Reginald Horsman cites many concrete reasons behind the warfare: British impressment, calling back the return of American soldiers deemed responsible to serve in the Royal Navy, upon the American army, meddling with maritime trade between the States and European nations (notable France), and inciting or taking part in Indian attacks against the colonies. ... McCoy speaks through the eyes of the Jeffersonian community, not the entire American population. Due to its smaller scope of the relevancy, Mccoy s paper is less effective than Horsman s. Drew McCoy s paper includes much more depth into the Jeffersonian mindset. The American economy depended largely on the exportation of farm grown items. Clearly, access to foreign markets is a must for success. These markets were made inaccessible by the presence of British ships scattered about the passageways to France and other European countries. Jeffersonians, peaceful by definition, suggested a lengthy embargo. This holdout would put pressure on Americans to manufacture within their country, thus building a feeling of unity. However, the embargo lasted for a little longer than a year and a half, yielding no positive results for America. Jefferson himself was attacked and accused of resisting commercialism. It was soon decided that foreign commerce was best for the country s economic welfare. As McCoy states, the Jeffersonians were presented with two options: ... accept the failure of peaceable coercion to remove restrictions on American commerce and submit to the British orders in council, or they could attempt, through military means, a forcible assertion of America s right to an independent and unrestricted access to ... If it were in the perspective of Nathan, or any other man, he would see absolutely nothing wrong in the acts downgrading women. All throughout the book, many of the women are displayed as very hardworking figures who can get by absolutely fine without a man around, which was a main goal in feminist literature. In the story, Leah says, Congolese men didn t treat their own wives and daughters as if they were very sensible or important. Her interpretation of the extremity of her sins is one of self composure and calm. She views her sins solely as a violation in the natural order of the environment and therefore cannot even perceive her sin as being evil except through outside influence. Dimmesdale on the other hand, has a scarlet letter carved in his chest. This is revealed when Dimmesdale was giving his revelation, in which he tore away the ministerial band from before his breast. It was revealed! (Hawthorn 232). Dimmesdale s personal interpretation as to the extremity of his own sins is a violation of God s law, which is the law that he is totally dedicated to and supported by. Dimmesdale s interpretation of his sin is much more severe than Hester s, it is a violation and direct contradiction of his own self consciousness and physical existence. Therefore the appearance of his A, even though it is never directly described in the novel, must be powerful, broken, and brutally dishonest (...a ghastly rapture; Hawthorne pg.95). Since the Scarlet Letter on Hester is visible to the public, she was criticized and looked down on. • 27. A Simplified Version Of Kattwyk Bridge ABSTRACT This is model and a simplified version of Kattwyk Bridge and has been made under the constraints of space, time and resources available in the lab. The Bridge mechanism has been divided in three sections. The central section lifts above, while the two side parts remain intact with the supporting angles. The lift mechanism used for the bridge is based on the pulley system involving three pulleys. A string is passed through the two pulleys on either side of middle section and the pulley at the centre synchronizes the motion of two pulleys and makes the motion centralized. The angles are used to restrict the motion of central section allowing only the motion in vertical direction to occur and provide the stability to the bridge structure. A chain is also used to stop the central section at any desired height depending on the height of ship assuming a real case situation thus saving the power. The mechanism used to lift the central section is due to the constraint of not using any electric motor or gears. In real case situation, the power can be given by electric motors and cables can be used. The four bridge supporting angles that connect the three sections of the bridge will actually go till the bottom surface of the river. Competition As A Monopolistic Competition Competition in Smartphone Markets Introduction The competition in Smartphone Markets is a monopolistic competition, in which the products of each firm are differentiated and the entry barrier is free. Initially, the concept of the monopolistic competition is present. Follow by the idea of the network effect theory. The multi sided market and the core business strategies is analyzed and finally, the examination of the future of the smartphone competition is shown. What is the monopolistic competition ? Monopolistic competition refers to a competition where monopoly exists, and is neither a perfect competition nor an oligopoly. As the market competition become intense, the distribution of resource becomes rational; therefore, the level of competition in the monopolistic competition is more intense than it is in the oligopoly and perfect competition (Roberts et al, 1977). Another reason caused this is that the products in the monopolistic competition can be easily replaced. Nowadays, smartphones of different brands are similar on their appearance, details and even functions. The conditions for a monopolistic competition to exist are as follows. Initially, the products in the competition have to be differentiated. The differences can be in the quality of the products, the appearance, the label or the sales conditions. ... The purpose of The Custom House is that it provides the framework for the main idea of The Scarlet Letter and it also describes Hawthorne s life. The narrator, who shares similar traits with Nathaniel Hawthorne, takes a post as the chief executive officer, or surveyor, of the Salem Custom House. Hawthorne describes his fellow workers as elderly and have been working at the Custom House their how lives. The only reason why they are there is through family connections and they repeatedly tell the stories. So, what I take from this is that he did not like his old job, the reason being is that he only speaks negative about everything relating to his former job. • 48. Building A Computer That Can Handle Any Game Computers consist of many different parts that, in order to perform a specific task, have to work in unison. It s becoming more and more popular to build a PC rather than buying a pre assembled one because many companies just rip people off. My fascination with building computers peaked when I tried to play a game called Minecraft, but instead of the game loading up as it did on my friend s computer, on mine it kept crashing. Minecraft is a game where players are all united in one world where they have to work in order to survive. Unfortunately, my antique computer couldn t handle this simple game; therefore, I never had the opportunity to play it. So I decided to build a super computer that can handle any game. From that day on my passion for computers extended towards a whole new level. Since I had little understanding about computers I needed to find a way to jumpstart my knowledge. Even before determining what type of computer I wanted to build, I had to first study computers, how they work and the different functions of all the components. Researching online and watching numerous How to videos provided many answers to my questions. Having a stronger foundation in computer assembly, I decided to finally step foot into the realm of building. I switched on my computer and proceeded to the Newegg website, which is a trusted computer equipment manufacturer. Pictures and descriptions filled the page as it was done loading, and I proceeded to scroll through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Communication Protocols And Functions Of Seven Layers Of... ASSIGNMENT 6 COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS Data communication allows individuals and companies to transmit or receive information from one point to another. For two or more devices to communicate, there should be some mechanism or medium that can link them to help them achieve their goals. This mechanism or medium is governed by rules or laws defining a format is called a protocol [3]. This is because all communications between devices require that the devices agree on proper format of the data. There are variety of standard protocols from which programmers can choose based on the resources available and mainly on the requirements. For e.g. if reliability is very important, then reliable protocols such as TCP should be used. Each protocol has its own advantage and restrictions. Depending on several factors such as speed, reliability, simplicity, programmers choose these protocols. In this essay, I am going to address about the networks and commonly used protocols, functions of seven layers of the OSI model, TCP/IP protocol, and protocols used in wireless communication. Technologies related to internetworking is growing rapidly day by day. A network is a group of connected, communicating devices such as computers and printers. [1] When two or more networks exists and communicate with each other, it is known as an internet. We know, Internet is the most notable internet, which is composed of thousands of interconnected networks [1]. Any individual or any organization such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
