Perkins Janiterson Company Case Study Partners Company
I recommend to use Perkins Janitorial Service instead Conway Co. two janitors that is at the company.
One of the other reasons is when the company needs to find janitors we lose money of putting job
advertising on the internet and newspapers. The cost of putting a job advertisement on Snagajob.com
is about $89. Also, putting an advertisement in a newspaper, such as Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is
about $12 per a column inch. So, if the company puts an advertisement in the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel for a job offer and its four columns wide and ten columns long, then the price will be about
$480. The interview can be expensive too. If the company s hiring employee makes $18 an hour,

Family Values In American Family
In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese
immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has
increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were
voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came to
the United States for business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried to
escape their countries in the World War II.
The majority of Asian American first generation come from a strong tradition of extended and kinship
ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly reconstructed to
shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian immigrants from
different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their cultures and values
in their home country to the United States. There are some common family values in the Asian
American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the family, filial piety,
respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these traditional values offer a
strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often clashed with dominant
American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family
and community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of Asian immigrants

Casey Asato Biography
There are many questions that most people have no answer to. What is your favorite food? What is
your favorite song? What is the most memorable place you ve traveled is a difficult question for Mr.
Asato, who has been to seemingly everywhere on earth. I have many special memories of incredible
places that I hold dear to my heart. He has a certain memory for each of his travels, but the one travel

Casey Asato was born in Honolulu and grew up in Kailua attending Damien Memorial for his high

Analysis Of Blink Once
Title: The title of the book is Blink Once. The title doesn t exactly fit with what the book is about, but
I do have an understanding as to why the author might have titled it Blink Once. That being that
before you know your life can change right before your eyes.
Author: The author of this book is Cylin Busby. I have not read any of her other books.
Genre: Blink Once is a fictional, mystery, and romance book. This book sparked my interest because
mystery and romances are favorite genres. I would recommend this book to someone who likes
romance but not a sappy love story. It s more of a mystery with a slight twist of romance.
Characters: Although there were a reasonable amount of characters in the story, there were only two
that were important and consistent throughout the book. The others didn t have much of an impact into
the story.
West is the main character of the book. He a young teen in high school who was also a biker,
unfortunately he ends up in the hospital after a terrible accident that left him paralyzed. He now has to
adjust to new changes while living a hospital, but little did he know he would meet someone
extremely important to him.
Olivia use to be a dancer and she is also admitted into the hospital for an eating disorder that she is
trying to overcome. Olivia and West build an incredible relationship while admitted in the hospital,
but unfortunately Olivia ends up in an unpredictable situation that cuts their relationship short.

Fragmentation Of The California Red Legged Frog
Peter Eskander
Professor Tim Karels
Biology 327
12 September 2015
Fragmentation of the California Red legged Frog Environment. The issue I will be raising is one that
might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the
fragmentation and overall mutilation of areas that keep and protect the species Rana Draytonii,
otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because
most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364
(Patrick McGreevy.). An even greater reason to discuss this dilemma is because they are limited in
their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied
approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to
highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more
significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently
listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings,
projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation in
areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along
southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey).
The California red legged frog has an intrinsic link to

Conspiracy Behind The Assassination of John Fitzgerald...
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 46, President for 1,026 days, was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in
Dallas Texas. He, his wife, Jackie, the Vice President and many others were in Dallas for a reelection
campaign for the upcoming election in 1964 when the horrible incident happened. Sadly, there is no
decent explanation of the assassination from the government The Warren Report is a 26 Volume
Report that claims that Lee Harvey Oswald is the lone assassin I do not agree with this.
The CIA was one branch of the government that was definitely a big thorn in Kennedy s side, and he,

Peter Dale Scott tells us in his book Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993) that late in 1963
Kennedy had authorized the withdrawal of one thousand U.S. troops from Vietnam this was the first
step towards total retreat from Vietnam, which he anticipated would happen by the end of 1965 (Scott

about Kennedy.
The Mafia is also a key suspect in this assassination. Especially Carlos Marcello, who was the mob
boss in New Orleans he was deported because of Attorney General Robert Kennedy, President
Kennedy s brother (Sherer April 1991). Robert Kennedy focused much of his time on getting rid of
organized crime, and he did a pretty good job. In the Web Site Who Murdered JFK and Why?
Marcello was quoted saying that President Kennedy was like a dog and Bobby Kennedy was his tail.
The dog will keep biting you if you only cut off its tail, but cut off the head and the dog will die, tail
and all. I would say that s a pretty good analogy of what happened. If President Kennedy were to die,
then Robert Kennedy wouldn t be able to keep going after the mob. Another Mafia boss, Santos
Trafficante from Miami also made a prediction about Kennedy s death when he said Kennedy s not
going to make it to the election. He s going to be hit

the shoppers of the future with a multitrillion dollar opportunity for the grocery industry by 2020

Australia s Potential Uranium Mining Industry
Summary
Australia s Uranium Resource Position Australia is the world‟s richest country in terms of uranium
resources. Australia‟s uranium resources are spread over 85 deposits and accounts for 23% of the
world‟s total resources. Kazakhstan is the current largest producer, producing 40% more tonnes of
uranium than Australia while have considerably less reserves. Canada has the highest grade deposits
but with much less resources than Australia, however they too produce much more uranium. Three

Power in Kazakhstan)
Canada Canada has a long history of uranium mining dating back to the 1930‟s. It had the largest
production of uranium for many years until overtaken by Kazakhstan in 2009. (World
Nuclear Association 2010: Uranium in Canada)
Canada has the world‟s largest high grade uranium mine; the McArthur River mine. It is also the most
productive mine and contributed around 15% of world production in 2008. This deposit has reserves
of 168 000 tonnes of uranium at a grade of 21.2%. (InfoMine 2005),

„Three Mines Policy‟
The „Three Mine Policy‟ became effective after the Labor Party was voted into power in 1983. In the
same month as taking office the new Federal Labour Government revoked the negotiating licences of
the uranium companies in Australia. The Ranger and Narbarlek mines were relicensed after
reapplication and in November of 1983
Caucus voted to approve the Roxby Downs project (today known as Olympic Dam) and prevent the
operation of any new uranium mines. In the 1984 ALP National Conference the Government amended
its party platform and its new position became known as the „Three Mines Policy‟. (Panter, Kay
1994)
In 2007 the newly appointed Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced a change in uranium mining
policy which led to the end of the 23 year old „Three mine policy‟ in order to promote the future of
Australia. Currently

Prokaryotes And Archaea Similarities
INTRODUCTION
Definitions for Archaea vary, but what is commonly agreed upon is that these are some sort of micro
organisms.
Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are merely part of the
prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary step in between, as prokaryotic
relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify
them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes.
In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
(x)
Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and eukaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their structural similarities are the reasoning behind why one might say that they belong to the
prokaryotic domain, being structurally very similar, especially on the first glance. The unique
properties will be discussed further later in this essay.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EUKARYOTES AND ARCHAEA
Though structurally, prokaryotic cells seem more similar to archaea than eukaryotic cells, yet when
one inspects their DNA, similarities between DNA replication, transcription and translation appear.
The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase,
suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are
similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of the
DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and position to its eukaryotic
counterpart (x).
These characteristics were thought to be unique to eukaryotes, yet were found in archaea as well.
When so little is known about the evolutionary history of these organisms that constitute for the basis
of life on earth, categorising them becomes immensely hard.

Bus 421 Research Paper
Running head: PUA 421 FINAL Lee 1 PUA 421 Final In cloud computing, there are three types of
services offered: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a
Service (SaaS). However, for the purposes of this paper, only PaaS and SaaS will be discussed.
According to the Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council (2017), PaaS can be defined as a service
that platform providers provide so that customers can create their own application, which means that
platform providers need to give customers a platform with the capabilities and necessary components

867). Understandably, offering SaaS services at a low price in comparison to traditional software
means that profit margins are smaller, and these relatively lower profits make maintaining customers
important for SaaS providers. PaaS, on the other hand, provides different uses and has a different
developmental process. For instance, one important use of PaaS is that it allows for the development
of SaaS, which often use these platforms to develop their services, and PaaS also allow third parties to
develop their own SaaS applications without unnecessary complexity (Walraven et al., 2014, p. 669).
As mentioned previously, PaaS providers also give customers the tools needed to create their own
applications. However, the process can be further delved into. According to Holubek and Floyd
(2013), PaaS vendors provide a platform that customers can develop with a collection of application
infrastructure (middleware) services, such as testing, database services, programming languages, and
interface design tools (p. 47). These middleware services allow customers to specifically develop their
apps however they like, as long as the PaaS provider s middleware services satisfy their needs.

Laredo Police Department Analysis
The Laredo Police Department was created in February 9, 1850. Its original name was City Marshal

program where citizens get rewarded for providing valid information to the police.

product with the help of the arc welding, there is a some problem occur during the process and as a
result, different types of defects are occurred in the products which reduce the reliability of the
products and also reduce the strength of the product or products parts. So it is necessary to avoid the
defects from the product and improve the overall quality of the products. Our projects also provides
solutions to arc welding defect and advises towards prevention of arc welding defect to improve
overall product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

individual components. Where a permanent join is required, welding is often a good option than other
possible processes such as brazing, soldering, and use of adhesive will are considered in design

In this process the surface of the two components to be joined are cleaned, placed close together and
heated while being protected from oxidation. The pool of molten metal forms and concentrates the

The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table
The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers,
masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are
called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the
periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as
inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more
elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly
discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was
little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead
(Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people
for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of
nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato,
another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term
element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These
elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a
thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) principle mission is the education of Black

of just giving them the answers. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in

one of the student response by saying five dollar because they have just read that off the five dollar
bill. This allowed for them to develop that literacy connection so that can use reading skills when they
are confused.

The Impact Of The Executive Order
The Internet, as we all know, has rapidly spread around since its commercialization in the 1990s. It is
evident that cybersecurity attacks are not going anywhere, and that government will continue to
remain a target. In addition, the Internet of Things (IoT) growth will lead to more devices being
connected to the networks. Therefore, with technology moving forward and hackers being more
motivated as ever, the government finds itself struggling to keep up with effective cybersecurity
measures and with filling up the designated positions in the Cybersecurity department. On May 11,
2017, our new President, Donald Trump, issued a new Executive Order 13800, to the Nation s
capabilities and be able to mitigate cybersecurity threats (The White ... Show more content on

Another thing the government should be focusing on is to stop buying on cyber technology from other
countries and start relying on cyber technology done in the U.S. By relying on technology from other
countries, it makes us a target therefore, placing us at more risk. Why? Because they might know or
have an idea in which areas we are lacking based on the technology that we buy from them. As far as
we know, they might have a hidden agenda on how and when to attack. Don t get me wrong the
government already follows this policy to some extent but they should try use it more. As I said
before, these are all great goals for the next few years but what has been done since this new EO was
established? In August 2017, the SecurityScoreCard Security Research Team released the analysis
done on 552 local, state and federal government organizations. They found that the government was
lagging on replacing outdated softwares, patching, individual endpoint defense and IP address
activities that showed that they may have been compromised (SSC Research Team, 2017). These are
all vulnerabilities that if worked on, would fix most of the problems in the government. Which bring
my next issue. According to Senator John McCain (2017), Leadership from the executive branch has
been weak He also said, While, the current administration promised a

4. The Renaissance and Reformism
The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies
underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that
there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and
parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular
instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission
preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with
greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used. Here
again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace
the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency,
seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the pulpit in
place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and more significant.
But, in the literature thus revived, the

Protestant Churches Decline
Protestant denominations in contemporary America are declining, while non denominational churches
are seeing an increase in membership. One of the principal reasons is losing the young people. If the
church continues to lose interest of the younger generations, then the likelihood of the generations to
follow will also not attend, as most children follow their parents. The churches losing members and
not being replaced with members, inevitably decreases the membership. A spokesman for the UMC
stated the membership of the United Methodist Church would cease to exist if the church did not start
reaching out to more people, especially the younger, diverse crowd (Methodists grow abroad, continue
slippage in U.S., 2011). Moreover, the Presbyterian Church has shrunk as well (Ostling, Bonfante,

Evangelical churches are aggressive in their radio and television broadcasts, reaching numerous
amounts of people at once ((Ostling, Bonfante, Dolan, Harris, 1989). A tradition once held by the
Protestant denominations, more specifically, the mainline churches. Of course, cultural differences are
also impacting the decline. The Protestant denominations of before, were predominately white
congregations. In today s times, the African American populations are attending the black Protestant
churches. While marketing, culture, and demographics are a few of the reasons for the decline, in my
opinion, I believe today s generations choose a church based upon their own personal preference. I
have to feel good in my church and I believe others feel the same way. If you experience a judgmental
feel or the beliefs preached conflict with your interpretation, then you visit other churches. With the
numerous amounts of churches, especially the growth in non denominational congregations, the

My Eulogy Essay
My symbol that represents everything I want to be; is my grandmother Lena Knox. Who is the
beginning of the Knox bloodline, and she is also a very strong willed determined individual. The three
key points that I will touch on that makes her my symbol, are her adventurous courageous and
powerful states of mind.
When I was 8 years old we took our first family vacation that I can remember. Our family left Hot
Springs, Arkansas headed back to Oakland, California. We drove through Texas, New Mexico, and

For the first time in my life I had sugar water and sugar toast and they really are delicious. On our last
night there I tried Gumbo for the first time and my grandmother had crab legs.
Now I will get into how courageous my grandmother is. When I was 8 months old my mother and
grandmother were walking back from the grocery store. When suddenly they were surrounded by wild
hunting dogs they must have smelled the raw meat in my grandmother bag. So my grandmother took
off running the opposite way of us to lead them away from us. The dogs attacked her she fought them
off with one can good; they were trying to kill her. I was way too young to remember all this but she
showed me the scars from the attack.
One day I and all the kids were outside playing and a huge snake crawled up on our porch. We were
terrified running, screaming, jumping, and throwing stuff at the snake. My grandmother was so brave
she went and picked up a shovel and cut the snakes head off; and that was the end of that.
Last but not least my Aunt Betty called my grandmother one day and she was very hysterical. Her
husband my Uncle Tim was punishing his dog King and out of nowhere King turned on him. King bit
his thumb off and was trying to bite Uncle Tim s throat. King would not calm down so we had to kill
him. I had a sledge hammer but every time I went to hit King I just couldn t do it. My

Deception In Greek
The Royal House of Athens is broken down into five distinct and unique myths all surrounding a
single mythological family in the city of Athens. Throughout the different myths, parallels of jealousy,
regret, and deception can be drawn from each of the separate pieces. Jealousy and/or lust is usually the
main cause of the tragedy, with one character falling in love or pursuing another and the other not
accepting it. In an effort to get revenge, deception is often used to fool another character into doing
something or believing something in order to benefit the other character. Following deception is
regret, and the myth typically ends on a distressed note. In this collection of myths, each of these
themes plays a major role in the tragedy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was married to Cephalus, but in a turn of events the Goddess of Dawn fell in love with him and
carried him off. Even still, Cephalus loved Procris more than the goddess, so she let him go, but upon
returning, he tested Procris faith to him by disguising himself as another man. Once she found out, she
was incredibly angry and left him, but he pursued her and found her. Once discovered, she eventually
forgave him and for a long time they continued to live contently until one day while hunting Cephalus
accidentally struck Procris with his spear. Leading from the third myth, the short myth of Orithyia and
Boreas introduces one of Procris sisters, Orithyia. It is said that the North Wind Boreas fell in love
with Orithyia, but the family and the people of Athens opposed the marriage because of the previous
tragedies that had been inflicted upon their lives. Relentless, the North Wind swept Orithyia away one
day, and they had two sons, Zetes and Calais, who would go on the Quest of the Golden Fleece. The
final myth surrounds the sister of both Procris and Orithyia, Creusa, who also faced a life of
misfortune. When she was young, Apollo found her and abducted her, and she bore a son that she
promptly left him to die. After many years, when she was trying to conceive a child with her husband,
she met her son, Ion, in the temple of Apollo. Ion continuously denied the fact

Historical Background Of Australia s Industrial Relations
Trade unions have been prominent in Australia since the early nineteenth century, established to
improve and maintain the working conditions of workers through strategic industrial action including
strikes, collective bargaining with employers, and advertising campaigns. Typically, Australia s
industrial relations have been shaped by highly centralized Commonwealth and state tribunal systems
of conciliation and arbitration. However, the last three decades have seen considerable changes in the
legislative, economic, and social realms that have traditionally governed the industrial relations of
Australia, and the relevance of unions is under questioning. This paper examines the relevance of
unions by first examining the historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This commitment lasted over a decade and fostered negotiation among employees, employers, and
governments outside of the formal industrial relations progressions (Chapman Gruen 1990; Morris
Wilson 1995). The Workplace Relations Act of 1996 gave the Australian Workplace Agreements
(AWAs) accessibility to ratify non union collective agreements under enterprise bargaining at the
workplace level, effectively decentralizing the union movement and reducing union control over
employee working conditions (ABS Cat No 4102.0). The Act saw the prohibition of compulsory
unionization and strengthened control that the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) had
over illegal industrial action, allowing the AIRC to stipulate how much and for how long industrial
dispute was lawful (Van Gramberg 2001). This period also endured a major privatization of the public
sector occurred which promoted policies to foster a growth of precarious employment (Van Gramberg
2001). Changes to legislation crafted under The Workplace Relations Amendment Act (Work Choices)
in 2005 encouraged employers and employees to resolve disputes at the workplace by removing unfair
dismissal provisions, ascertaining a federal minimum wage rate and award minimum

How Does Mary Shelly Use Gothic Elements In Frankenstein
Gothic novels came into place in the late seventeen hundreds betraying supernatural events, dishonor,
death, and disaster. Gothic novels are significant, because it allows people to explore a different world
through their own imagination, which condones hidden desires or curiosities. Frankenstein is a fine
expression of a gothic novel where Mary Shelly uses different situations to have Victor Frankenstein
create a monster under the cloudy circumstances which victor gathers body parts for his experiments
and the use of little known modern technologies for unnatural purposes (Harcourt 1), being unknown
by man for Victors creations in showing suspenseful innovations, reflects on the elements of a gothic
novel. Mary Shelly Frankenstein shows how Victor Frankenstein strives for knowledge to go against
the laws of nature and natural order. The natural order of a human corps is to be born, lived, aged, and
to die then decomposed, but by Victor creating a man like being from human corps, off sets the natural
order of mankind. Soon realizing that his creation is far more advanced then he thought ... Show more

approach is emphasized, when Victor decides not to create another monster. The monster confronts
him, saying remember, I shall be with you on your wedding night (Shelly 153). This implies that on
Victor s first night of being married to his adopted sister, Frankenstein will plan to be there to kill

How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?
Gum disease starts with bacteria invading the mouth. It can eventually result in tooth loss because of
the receding tissue that surrounds the teeth and loosens the teeth. Serious gum disease is preceded by
gingivitis, which can be identified by inflamed and bleeding gums. It is important to know that
gingivitis can be reversed and can heal completely by keeping up with brushing and flossing.
The signs of gum disease are:
Bleeding gums, especially when they are irritated by brushing.
Swollen and tender gums.
Bad breath.
A bad taste in your mouth.

Essay on The Hard-Boiled Detective
The movie The Maltese Falcon is about a private investigator who is striving to unravel the mystery
surrounding a black enamelled bird known as the Maltese Falcon. Samuel Spade, the protagonist of
the story, is what was known as a hard boiled detective. Men such as that rarely show a tender side (if
they have one). Likewise, they are physically tough, frequently resorting to guns or fists to get what
they want. In addition, they tend to be amoral, yet with an inflexible code of honour of their own. The
first element of the persona of the hard boiled detective is the fact that they rarely show an affectionate
side. Throughout the entire movie, Sam Spade acts in a careless and nonchalant manner. Nothing

In The Maltese Falcon, Sam never carries a gun. However, he does use his fists a number of times.
When Cairo comes to his office the first time, he pulls a gun on Sam. Spade then disarms him and
knocks him out in order to search him. Later on, in his apartment, he slaps Cairo when he refuses to
cooperate. Finally, he disarms Wilmer in the hotel just to show that he has control. Like most of the
hard boiled detectives of this era, Spade uses aggression to fulfill his goals. The third attribute of the
hard boiled detective is that they are often amoral. Sam Spade certainly fits this criteria. To begin, we
find out that he is having an affair with his partner s, Miles Archer, wife. That, however, is just the
beginning. After Miles dies Spade wants nothing more to do with Mrs. Archer and continually pushes
her away. He shows no loyalty to anyone other than himself. He is not upset at his partner s death.
Instead, he treats it like any other murder case. He acts with coldness towards other people and does
what helps him instead of applying to the moral code that most people use. Finally, the hard boiled
detectives of this era also had an inflexible code of honour themselves. Sam Spade, though often
insensitive and selfish, does have honour. First of all he give the police the money he takes from
Gutman as a bribe to use as evidence against the four criminals. Secondly, he turns Brigit in. This is

Infrastructure Of Infrastructure And Infrastructure
Infrastructure
We are constantly surrounded by infrastructure assets. Infrastructure consists of all the assets that
countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy,
communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our
society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is
compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the
world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its
GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S.
infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index.
In the current economic environment where interest rates are low and unemployment remains
elevated, a logical solution to stimulate growth would be to build, modernize, or replace our
infrastructure. Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a Report Card
for America s Infrastructure that represents the condition and performance of the nation s
infrastructure. In 2013, the United States infrastructure grade was a D+. Although we recognize the
report is a little self serving, the statistics behind their research is compelling. According to the report:
the average age of the 84,000 dams in the country is 52 years old, one in nine of the nation s bridges

Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang...
Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang theory is a theory that states that the universe originated as a single mass, which
subsequently exploded. The entire universe was once all in a hot and dense ball, but about 20 million
years ago, it exploded. This explosion hurled material all over the place and all mater and space was
created at that point in time. The gas that was hurled out cooled and became our stellar system. A red
shift is a shift towards longer wavelengths of celestial objects. An example of this is the Doppler shift.
Doppler shift is what makes a car sound lower pitched as it moves further away. As it turns out, a

Life Cycle of a Star
A star is born in a high density nebula and condenses into gas and dust and contracts under its own
gravity. Next, a region of condensing matter will begin to heat up and star to glow, forming protostars.
The temperature at this point is 5 million degrees centigrade. When this temperature is reached,
hydrogen fuses and forms helium. A star then begins to release energy which causes it to contract and
shine. After millions of years, the core of the star which is helium, contracts and a reaction begins to
occur in a shell around the core. The core is at a high enough temperature for helium to form into
carbon and the out layer of the star expands, cools and becomes less bright. The core then burns out
and the outer layer leaves the core as a gaseous shell. The rest of the core cools and becomes a white
dwarf and is less bright. When the white dwarf stops shining, it is called a black dwarf.
Every now and then, a large star reaching the end of its life collapses in on itself, and then explodes
very violently. The star explodes so violently that for a few weeks the star can out shine its parent
galaxy. This type of explosion is known as a supernova. Neutron stars form during a supernova.
What is a nebula?
Nebula are clouds of gas and dust many light years across. They can be formed by dying stars as in
supernova remnants or planetary nebula. They can be formed by young stars just emerging from their
nurseries and beginning to

Analysis Of Physicalism And What Aspect Of It Jackson Targets

1. The best aspect of my paper is the discussion of physicalism and what aspect of it Jackson targets in

2. My discussion of Jacksons response to Churchland s argument is a bit weak and I know I should go
back and look at it.
3. Explaining what physicalism is and Jackson s responses to it in detail while respecting the page

4. Should I talk more about the different types of physicalism?
In his article What Mary Didn t Know Frank Jackson comes up with a convincing argument, which
challenges physicalism, a theory of the mind, and its validity. In this paper I will look at Jacksons
argument, specifically his second premise, and whether or not his conclusion follows it. I will also
attempt to present the objections, which he presented to his paper and the replies he builds against
them.
Physicalism is the idea that the physical facts are all of the facts; which implies that if you know all of
the physical facts you know all facts. Physicalism is a type of substance monism and there are several
different kinds of physicalism, but it is not necessary to go into the specifics because Jackson targets
the validity of physicalism as a theory of the mind and not a specific type of physicalism.
Jackson s argument against physicalism, also known as the knowledge argument, is as follows:
(1) If Physicalism is true, then, for any domain, knowing all the physical facts in that domain is
knowing all the facts in that domain;

Essay on Alcohol Advertising
Alcohol Advertising
Exposure to alcohol advertising is an everyday occurrence. Alcohol advertising is persuasive not only
to adults but to those who are too young to buy alcohol legally. Although parents and peers have a
large impact on youth decisions to drink, marketing also has a significant impact by influencing the
attitudes of parents and peers and helping to create an environment that promotes underage drinking.
Alcohol companies focus billions of dollars on advertising their products and still claim that the effect
is minimal. I pose a few questions that are; who are the targets of alcohol advertising? How does

Recognizing this important marketing fact, alcohol companies deliberately devise ads designed to
appeal to heavy drinkers. The heavy user of alcohol is usually an addict. Another interesting
perspective on the industry s claim that it only advertises to encourage moderate drinking to those of
age, is that if this were true, and only the 105 million drinkers of legal age in the US consumed the
official maximum moderate amount of alcohol, .99 ounces or roughly two drinks, a day the industry
would suffer a 40 percent decrease in the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits. Meaning that if
alcohol companies truly only targeted who they claim they do, they would only be nearly cutting their
profits in half. Besides the heavy drinkers, the young audience plays a great deal to the alcohol
industry. It is no wonder alcohol is appealing to the youth when ads only display very healthy,
attractive, and youthful looking people. Advertising is a powerful educating force in American
Culture, one that promotes attitudes and values as well as products. Ads are now even featuring
characters with special appeal to children. The makers of some 200 consumer products including
stuffed animals, dolls, T shirts, posters, and mugs are dedicated to alcohol. Advertisements have even
gone as far as popular children s movies; one example of this was the very popular Teenage Mutant

  • 2. Perkins Janiterson Company Case Study Partners Company I recommend to use Perkins Janitorial Service instead Conway Co. two janitors that is at the company. One of the other reasons is when the company needs to find janitors we lose money of putting job advertising on the internet and newspapers. The cost of putting a job advertisement on Snagajob.com is about $89. Also, putting an advertisement in a newspaper, such as Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is about $12 per a column inch. So, if the company puts an advertisement in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for a job offer and its four columns wide and ten columns long, then the price will be about $480. The interview can be expensive too. If the company s hiring employee makes $18 an hour, works 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year the employee makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Family Values In American Family In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came to the United States for business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried to escape their countries in the World War II. The majority of Asian American first generation come from a strong tradition of extended and kinship ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly reconstructed to shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian immigrants from different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their cultures and values in their home country to the United States. There are some common family values in the Asian American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often clashed with dominant American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family and community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of Asian immigrants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Casey Asato Biography There are many questions that most people have no answer to. What is your favorite food? What is your favorite song? What is the most memorable place you ve traveled is a difficult question for Mr. Asato, who has been to seemingly everywhere on earth. I have many special memories of incredible places that I hold dear to my heart. He has a certain memory for each of his travels, but the one travel that left the biggest impact on him was his trek to the Mountainous Village in Hinterland Japan. Casey Asato was born in Honolulu and grew up in Kailua attending Damien Memorial for his high school years. Asato s high school was an all boys high school, required shirt and tie, and there was no A.C. It was a private school like Seabury but he believes that Seabury has much more opportunities. As a high school student Casey Asato was a bit of a slacker. He says he should ve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was an accident, says Asato. He didn t want to be a teacher, in college he majored in finance and minored in Japanese. Right after college he returned to Japan in which he studied abroad in high school. He returned as a middle school teacher in Japan. This is the first time he had a real job and was able to buy clothes and food. He was on a one year contract in which he extended because he fell in love with Japan and it s culture. After the contract ended he returned and was trying to figure out what to do in life. He realized the happiest point in his life was when he was teaching, so the universe aligned and Casey Asato became Mr. Asato. Teaching is extremely difficult, but I like challenges and I m still working it at it. Mr. Asato is not only a full time teacher but a full time student as well. This will be his 10th year as a teacher at Seabury Hall, and his 18th year teaching in general. He is currently working on his E.d.D at U.H Minoa. • 5. Analysis Of Blink Once Title: The title of the book is Blink Once. The title doesn t exactly fit with what the book is about, but I do have an understanding as to why the author might have titled it Blink Once. That being that before you know your life can change right before your eyes. Author: The author of this book is Cylin Busby. I have not read any of her other books. Genre: Blink Once is a fictional, mystery, and romance book. This book sparked my interest because mystery and romances are favorite genres. I would recommend this book to someone who likes romance but not a sappy love story. It s more of a mystery with a slight twist of romance. Characters: Although there were a reasonable amount of characters in the story, there were only two that were important and consistent throughout the book. The others didn t have much of an impact into the story. West is the main character of the book. He a young teen in high school who was also a biker, unfortunately he ends up in the hospital after a terrible accident that left him paralyzed. He now has to adjust to new changes while living a hospital, but little did he know he would meet someone extremely important to him. Olivia use to be a dancer and she is also admitted into the hospital for an eating disorder that she is trying to overcome. Olivia and West build an incredible relationship while admitted in the hospital, but unfortunately Olivia ends up in an unpredictable situation that cuts their relationship short. • 6. Fragmentation Of The California Red Legged Frog Peter Eskander Professor Tim Karels Biology 327 12 September 2015 Fragmentation of the California Red legged Frog Environment. The issue I will be raising is one that might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the fragmentation and overall mutilation of areas that keep and protect the species Rana Draytonii, otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364 (Patrick McGreevy.). An even greater reason to discuss this dilemma is because they are limited in their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings, projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation in areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey). The California red legged frog has an intrinsic link to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Conspiracy Behind The Assassination of John Fitzgerald... John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 46, President for 1,026 days, was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas Texas. He, his wife, Jackie, the Vice President and many others were in Dallas for a reelection campaign for the upcoming election in 1964 when the horrible incident happened. Sadly, there is no decent explanation of the assassination from the government The Warren Report is a 26 Volume Report that claims that Lee Harvey Oswald is the lone assassin I do not agree with this. The CIA was one branch of the government that was definitely a big thorn in Kennedy s side, and he, a thorn in theirs. The Bay of Pigs Invasion was the spark that ignited the devastating fire! Crossfire by Jim Marrs (1989) explains that over fifteen hundred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peter Dale Scott tells us in his book Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993) that late in 1963 Kennedy had authorized the withdrawal of one thousand U.S. troops from Vietnam this was the first step towards total retreat from Vietnam, which he anticipated would happen by the end of 1965 (Scott 24). This incident added to the fire that was roaring underneath the CIA something had to be done about Kennedy. The Mafia is also a key suspect in this assassination. Especially Carlos Marcello, who was the mob boss in New Orleans he was deported because of Attorney General Robert Kennedy, President Kennedy s brother (Sherer April 1991). Robert Kennedy focused much of his time on getting rid of organized crime, and he did a pretty good job. In the Web Site Who Murdered JFK and Why? Marcello was quoted saying that President Kennedy was like a dog and Bobby Kennedy was his tail. The dog will keep biting you if you only cut off its tail, but cut off the head and the dog will die, tail and all. I would say that s a pretty good analogy of what happened. If President Kennedy were to die, then Robert Kennedy wouldn t be able to keep going after the mob. Another Mafia boss, Santos Trafficante from Miami also made a prediction about Kennedy s death when he said Kennedy s not going to make it to the election. Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are merely part of the prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary step in between, as prokaryotic relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes. In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. (x) Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and eukaryotic cells. The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase, suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of the DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and position to its eukaryotic counterpart (x). These characteristics were thought to be unique to eukaryotes, yet were found in archaea as well. As mentioned previously, PaaS providers also give customers the tools needed to create their own applications. However, the process can be further delved into. • 17. The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers, masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato, another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Renaissance and Reformism The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used. Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency, seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the pulpit in place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and more significant. But, in the literature thus revived, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the church continues to lose interest of the younger generations, then the likelihood of the generations to follow will also not attend, as most children follow their parents. The churches losing members and not being replaced with members, inevitably decreases the membership. It is said that the North Wind Boreas fell in love with Orithyia, but the family and the people of Athens opposed the marriage because of the previous tragedies that had been inflicted upon their lives. Relentless, the North Wind swept Orithyia away one day, and they had two sons, Zetes and Calais, who would go on the Quest of the Golden Fleece. The final myth surrounds the sister of both Procris and Orithyia, Creusa, who also faced a life of misfortune. When she was young, Apollo found her and abducted her, and she bore a son that she promptly left him to die. After many years, when she was trying to conceive a child with her husband, she met her son, Ion, in the temple of Apollo. Ion continuously denied the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Historical Background Of Australia s Industrial Relations Trade unions have been prominent in Australia since the early nineteenth century, established to improve and maintain the working conditions of workers through strategic industrial action including strikes, collective bargaining with employers, and advertising campaigns. Typically, Australia s industrial relations have been shaped by highly centralized Commonwealth and state tribunal systems of conciliation and arbitration. However, the last three decades have seen considerable changes in the legislative, economic, and social realms that have traditionally governed the industrial relations of Australia, and the relevance of unions is under questioning. This paper examines the relevance of unions by first examining the historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This commitment lasted over a decade and fostered negotiation among employees, employers, and governments outside of the formal industrial relations progressions (Chapman Gruen 1990; Morris Wilson 1995). The Workplace Relations Act of 1996 gave the Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs) accessibility to ratify non union collective agreements under enterprise bargaining at the workplace level, effectively decentralizing the union movement and reducing union control over employee working conditions (ABS Cat No 4102.0). The Act saw the prohibition of compulsory unionization and strengthened control that the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) had over illegal industrial action, allowing the AIRC to stipulate how much and for how long industrial dispute was lawful (Van Gramberg 2001). This period also endured a major privatization of the public sector occurred which promoted policies to foster a growth of precarious employment (Van Gramberg 2001). • 30. How Does Mary Shelly Use Gothic Elements In Frankenstein Gothic novels came into place in the late seventeen hundreds betraying supernatural events, dishonor, death, and disaster. Gothic novels are significant, because it allows people to explore a different world through their own imagination, which condones hidden desires or curiosities. Frankenstein is a fine expression of a gothic novel where Mary Shelly uses different situations to have Victor Frankenstein create a monster under the cloudy circumstances which victor gathers body parts for his experiments and the use of little known modern technologies for unnatural purposes (Harcourt 1), being unknown by man for Victors creations in showing suspenseful innovations, reflects on the elements of a gothic novel. Mary Shelly Frankenstein shows how Victor Frankenstein strives for knowledge to go against the laws of nature and natural order. The natural order of a human corps is to be born, lived, aged, and to die then decomposed, but by Victor creating a man like being from human corps, off sets the natural order of mankind. Frankenstein s approach is emphasized, when Victor decides not to create another monster. The monster confronts him, saying remember, I shall be with you on your wedding night (Shelly 153). • 33. Essay on The Hard-Boiled Detective The movie The Maltese Falcon is about a private investigator who is striving to unravel the mystery surrounding a black enamelled bird known as the Maltese Falcon. Samuel Spade, the protagonist of the story, is what was known as a hard boiled detective. Men such as that rarely show a tender side (if they have one). Likewise, they are physically tough, frequently resorting to guns or fists to get what they want. In addition, they tend to be amoral, yet with an inflexible code of honour of their own. The first element of the persona of the hard boiled detective is the fact that they rarely show an affectionate side. Throughout the entire movie, Sam Spade acts in a careless and nonchalant manner. Nothing bothers him and he doesn t seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Maltese Falcon, Sam never carries a gun. However, he does use his fists a number of times. When Cairo comes to his office the first time, he pulls a gun on Sam. Spade then disarms him and knocks him out in order to search him. Later on, in his apartment, he slaps Cairo when he refuses to cooperate. Finally, he disarms Wilmer in the hotel just to show that he has control. Like most of the hard boiled detectives of this era, Spade uses aggression to fulfill his goals. The third attribute of the hard boiled detective is that they are often amoral. Sam Spade certainly fits this criteria. To begin, we find out that he is having an affair with his partner s, Miles Archer, wife. That, however, is just the beginning. After Miles dies Spade wants nothing more to do with Mrs. Archer and continually pushes her away. He shows no loyalty to anyone other than himself. He is not upset at his partner s death. Instead, he treats it like any other murder case. He acts with coldness towards other people and does what helps him instead of applying to the moral code that most people use. Finally, the hard boiled detectives of this era also had an inflexible code of honour themselves. Sam Spade, though often insensitive and selfish, does have honour. First of all he give the police the money he takes from Gutman as a bribe to use as evidence against the four criminals. Secondly, he turns Brigit in. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Infrastructure Of Infrastructure And Infrastructure Infrastructure We are constantly surrounded by infrastructure assets. Infrastructure consists of all the assets that countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy, communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S. infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index. In the current economic environment where interest rates are low and unemployment remains elevated, a logical solution to stimulate growth would be to build, modernize, or replace our infrastructure. Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a Report Card for America s Infrastructure that represents the condition and performance of the nation s infrastructure. In 2013, the United States infrastructure grade was a D+. Although we recognize the report is a little self serving, the statistics behind their research is compelling. According to the report: the average age of the 84,000 dams in the country is 52 years old, one in nine of the nation s bridges are rated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang... Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang Theory The Big Bang theory is a theory that states that the universe originated as a single mass, which subsequently exploded. The entire universe was once all in a hot and dense ball, but about 20 million years ago, it exploded. This explosion hurled material all over the place and all mater and space was created at that point in time. The gas that was hurled out cooled and became our stellar system. A red shift is a shift towards longer wavelengths of celestial objects. An example of this is the Doppler shift. Doppler shift is what makes a car sound lower pitched as it moves further away. Life Cycle of a Star A star is born in a high density nebula and condenses into gas and dust and contracts under its own gravity. Next, a region of condensing matter will begin to heat up and star to glow, forming protostars. The temperature at this point is 5 million degrees centigrade. When this temperature is reached, hydrogen fuses and forms helium. A star then begins to release energy which causes it to contract and shine. After millions of years, the core of the star which is helium, contracts and a reaction begins to occur in a shell around the core. The core is at a high enough temperature for helium to form into carbon and the out layer of the star expands, cools and becomes less bright. The core then burns out and the outer layer leaves the core as a gaseous shell. The rest of the core cools and becomes a white dwarf and is less bright. When the white dwarf stops shining, it is called a black dwarf. Every now and then, a large star reaching the end of its life collapses in on itself, and then explodes very violently. The star explodes so violently that for a few weeks the star can out shine its parent galaxy. This type of explosion is known as a supernova. Neutron stars form during a supernova. What is a nebula? Nebula are clouds of gas and dust many light years across. They can be formed by dying stars as in supernova remnants or planetary nebula. The best aspect of my paper is the discussion of physicalism and what aspect of it Jackson targets in his article. 2. My discussion of Jacksons response to Churchland s argument is a bit weak and I know I should go back and look at it. 3. Explaining what physicalism is and Jackson s responses to it in detail while respecting the page limit 4. Should I talk more about the different types of physicalism? In his article What Mary Didn t Know Frank Jackson comes up with a convincing argument, which challenges physicalism, a theory of the mind, and its validity. In this paper I will look at Jacksons argument, specifically his second premise, and whether or not his conclusion follows it. I will also attempt to present the objections, which he presented to his paper and the replies he builds against them. Physicalism is the idea that the physical facts are all of the facts; which implies that if you know all of the physical facts you know all facts. Physicalism is a type of substance monism and there are several different kinds of physicalism, but it is not necessary to go into the specifics because Jackson targets the validity of physicalism as a theory of the mind and not a specific type of physicalism. Jackson s argument against physicalism, also known as the knowledge argument, is as follows: (1) If Physicalism is true, then, for any domain, knowing all the physical facts in that domain is knowing all the facts in that domain; (2) For some ... Alcohol advertising is persuasive not only to adults but to those who are too young to buy alcohol legally. Although parents and peers have a large impact on youth decisions to drink, marketing also has a significant impact by influencing the attitudes of parents and peers and helping to create an environment that promotes underage drinking. How does alcohol advertising affect the people targeted by alcohol companies? Finally what actions are being taken to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recognizing this important marketing fact, alcohol companies deliberately devise ads designed to appeal to heavy drinkers. The heavy user of alcohol is usually an addict. Another interesting perspective on the industry s claim that it only advertises to encourage moderate drinking to those of age, is that if this were true, and only the 105 million drinkers of legal age in the US consumed the official maximum moderate amount of alcohol, .99 ounces or roughly two drinks, a day the industry would suffer a 40 percent decrease in the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits. Meaning that if alcohol companies truly only targeted who they claim they do, they would only be nearly cutting their profits in half. Besides the heavy drinkers, the young audience plays a great deal to the alcohol industry. It is no wonder alcohol is appealing to the youth when ads only display very healthy, attractive, and youthful looking people. Advertising is a powerful educating force in American Culture, one that promotes attitudes and values as well as products. Ads are now even featuring characters with special appeal to children. The makers of some 200 consumer products including stuffed animals, dolls, T shirts, posters, and mugs are dedicated to alcohol. Advertisements have even gone as far as popular children s movies; one example of this was the very popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The average age which people begin ...
