CHAPTER1. INTRODUCTION
Introduction
Time is one of the major factors in learning .In order for learners to achieve success in any field, they
need time to learn ,practice and apply what they have learned to fulfill goals (Farbman ,A N).
Educational institutes in the US nowadays are trying to improve the quality of the education offered to
students, therefor, there is a growing concern on how to use educational resources effectively such as
time in learning. Previous researches indicated that there is a direct relation between the amount of
time given to instruction and learning. This paper contributes to this growing literature on the effect of
the long time spending in the educational institutes on students performance and achievement. In order
to examine the impact of long instructional hours on student success and performance an action
research project has been conducted at the ELS center in Murfreesboro. Aim of the Research
The main of this research is to investigate the students perspectives concerning the long instructional
hours in the ELS Center.
The Research Objectives The objectives of the project is to identify the advantages and the
disadvantages of the long working hours in the ELS center as well as offering suggestions for
alternative scheduling to improve the quality of education offered by the center and might also
increase students productivity and performance in the future.

instrument to the cause of preserving the integrity of the sport, and aspiring for its orderly
development. It further went on to state that the measures implemented by the consortium under its
pyramid structure were not unconditionally inherent and proportionate to the achievements of purely
sporting objectives. In fact, the CCI read a strong commercial dimension into the conduct of the board.
While some may argue that this case lacks the balancing of rights perspective that was employed in
the Hockey India judgment, it would also, perhaps, not be altogether misguided to prefer the Hockey
India judgment to have progressed on the lines of the BCCI case. With a firm recommendation to
revamp the core structure of its organisation such that clashes between its regulatory and
organisational powers cease to be a regular feature, the CCI liberated Hockey India of the charges
levelled against it. Directing the institution of a rationalised and transparent system to supervise the
promulgation of NOCs, the CCI relied on an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stance of the CCI does appear to be rather implausible, especially as it dismisses the arguments to
the alternative citing the lack of evidence that effectively corroborates that Hockey India deliberately
acted against the players who wished to participate in the league. Moreover, it is pertinent to note that
within a year of the alleged anti competitive policies being drawn up by Hockey India, its proposal for
a rival league was released. Hence, to absolve the body for inclusion of commercial aspects in its
practices might hardly be the way to proceed. In addition, while the CoC Agreement did not explicitly
enjoin the freedom of players to participate in the World Series Hockey League, it certainly served as

The world record small mouth weighed 11 pounds and 15...
The world record small mouth weighed 11 pounds and 15 ounces. Was 27 inches long and 21 2/3
inches in girth. Most smallmouth range from 10 inches up to 20. Bass over 20 inches are rare but a lot
of fun to catch. A good healthy temperature for small mouth is between 68 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Normally bass live between 6 to 14 years, but with perfect conditions a bass can live up to 20 years.
Small mouth like to create nests with their tails in 3 to 8 feet of water, with sand and small gravel for a
bottom. The male will create and guard the nest. After mating the female is evicted and goes on to
possibly mate with other males. The male will watch after the nest and babies (minnows) for two
weeks, then they all split up. Smallies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smallmouths have both external fertilization and external development. Feeding for smallmouth tops
when the temperature is around 78 degrees and starts to slow down once the temperature goes below
40 degrees. The male always guards the eggs and the babies which are known as fry. The spawning
usually occurs in April or May unless the temperature stays cold than it can be delayed. The first
person to describe a smallmouth bass was Lacepede is 1802. The fry hatch out of their eggs in about a
week and then continue to develop for another week. Young smallmouths are fed upon by yellow
perch, Northern pike or muskellunge. Bigger bass are only eaten by northern pike, musky but the main
predators of smallmouth bass are humans. The lifespan in the wild is normally about seven years, but
some will live up to 20 years. In captivity the average age is ten years. When the young hatch out of
their eggs they are about 0.2 inches long, very easy prey for a variety of animals. Multiple females
will spawn in the nest of one male and an individual female will spawn in more than one. Smallmouth
dance and bite each other, this is their mating ritual. In New York the record smallmouth was 8
pounds, 4 ounces caught out of Lake Erie on 6/4/1995 by Andrew C Kartesz. Smallmouth bass are
beginning to destroy Brooke trout fisheries and Atlantic salmon fisheries. The meat of a smallmouth is
very firm and good tasting so many people catch the fish not only for the fun of the

Women s Suffrage And Voting Rights
Abstract
Which individuals or groups started the women s revolution (suffrage) to voting rights?
Where did the first revolution occur?
When did women become eligible to vote?
How did the revolution to women s voting rights transpire?
Why was it so important for women to be able to vote?
The questions before you are the very questions I intend to have answered while researching this
subject. I want to take my readers back into time when women had no voice to be heard, and no
opinions to be made. Women like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucy Stone are just
some of the women whom paved the way for our women of today. I will cover their stories and their
individual fight for women s right.
While traveling back into time I will discuss with my readers which one of these particular women or
women s group have made an impact on my life personally and how I can relate to them. I will also
fast forward to the outcome which led us to the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Women s
Right to Vote, And the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well. Although this is outside of
our date and time range I want my readers to know how this impacted Americans everyday life until
this very day.

Flaws In The Odyssey
A hero is someone who has given him or her life to something bigger than oneself. (Joseph Campbell)
The Odyssey is an Epic about a greek hero named Odysseus. He s escaping from the Trojan War and
he s trying to return to his family safely. During his journey he meets many complications and
obstacles that stop him from returning home. An example of a creature Odysseus faced was the
Cyclops. The Cyclops was a one eyed creatures that lived in a cave and Odysseus went into a feud
with a Cyclops named Polyphemus, he was Poseidon s son. During these conflicts Odysseus doesn t
portray heroic choices or traits. Odysseus is not a hero because he puts his shipmates in severe danger,
just so he could return back to his family safely. These situations ... Show more content on

These people believe that Odysseus was a strong leader, he s brave, and he s loyal to his family. They
are wrong for viewing Odysseus as a hero, and here s why. First of all, a strong leader wouldn t treat
his shipmates like slaves, instead he would listen to their desires and try to put them in action.
Odysseus was a brave hero for facing the monsters and for defending his shipmates, but he had to
show mercy to the opposing side. During the journey, Odysseus was very violent and he always
assumed that everyone is trying to murder him, so he attacked anyone and anything that opposed his
ideas or actions. Lastly, a good hero wouldn t hide the truth about his shipmates deaths. In addition, a
hero wouldn t betray his shipmates and leave them to run into their own deaths just to see his family.
This was when Odysseus went to the blind prophet and she said that the ship and crew will get
destroyed and he ll return safely, he still continued his journey with no doubt. Some people might that
it s a sign of loyalty, but it s not because he s taking away lives to return home. These were all true and
valid traits of Odysseus, but they all have deep and bad meanings behind

I fell in love with politics at the age of 10, the year was 2004, and I liked John Kerry because he
shared my name. I also supported him because my father, at the time, was supporting George W. Bush
and I was a rather antagonistic child. Over time I ve certainly become more nuanced in the candidates
I support, but that year began a lifetime journey into a field that is ever changing, ever competitive,
and that impacts so many lives.
By the time I got to college, my decision to major in political science came as a surprise to absolutely
no one in my life. But I knew that my major was more than just a field of study, it s essentially a
lifestyle. Studying political science requires so much more than reading textbooks and writing papers
and doing quantitative analysis, at its very core it s about how people live their lives. I knew that I
would have to make concerted efforts outside of the classroom in order to truly understand the way
things worked. My first effort at this was serving on the planning and zoning commission for the City

Donatello s Bronze Statue Of David Michelangelo
Donatello s bronze sculpture of David is not to be confused with the much larger and more widely
known statue of the same name, done by Michelangelo. Donatello s statue of David can be found in
the Bargello museum in Florence, Italy. The statue only stands about five feet tall, which when
compared to the seventeen foot sculpture by Michelangelo, is relatively small. The statue is made of
bronze using the lost wax technique. It depicts David as having a very effeminate contrapposto stance,
(the standing figure is posed so the weight rests on one leg, while the other leg is bent at the knee in a
very relaxed position), despite standing upon Goliath s severed head. One could almost view David as
a girl, provided he was not nude, due to the soft looking expression on his face, and the way his hair
flows. The floral arrangement upon his head is very distinct. The statue exudes epicenism, as David is
clearly a soldier holding a sword and wearing boots standing upon his vanquished foe s head. ... Show

standing free to be seen from all angles, instead of being against a background. It brings forth Rome
and Ancient Greek callings such as the contrapposto stance, which gives it the illusion of being
somewhat animated.

Becoming A Good Writer
To me, the best writing is when you can t put the book down and want to keep reading more and more.
It is when you can make a personal connection to whatever the characters are going through in their
life. To make a good piece of writing you have to have many things, but most importantly you should
have good vocabulary, punctuation, and sentence fluency so that it is easy to follow.
I know that writing will always be an important thing in my life. I m taking Foundations of Writing to
prepare myself for college and to learn how to become a better writer. I will use what I learned in this
class while I am writing college papers or even for a future job.
When I am given an assignment, the first thing I do is think about how I am going to write it. Then I
begin writing down my thoughts until I can t think of anything else to add. When I have no new ideas
I start to get bored and then I begin to procrastinate. Procrastinating is one of my biggest weaknesses.
I always wait until just a few days before the paper is due to really start working on it hard. Another
weakness of mine is that it s hard for me to put my thoughts into words and sentences that make sense.
Something I have never understood are semicolons. I don t know when I should use them and when I
should not. I would say that my biggest strengths are that I always write in complete sentences and use
good vocabulary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After I complete this class I hope that I will know how to correctly use semicolons and that I won t
have to question when to use them. In this class I want to push myself and become a better writer. I
want to ask lots of questions and understand what I am learning so I ll remember it for years to come.
I expect the teacher to help me whenever I have a question or don t understand

Theft Definition Essay
Criminal Law, 26/04/11, Dr.Filletti
Theft
No definition of the offence of theft; Carrara gives us a definition which has been taken up by our
courts, The malicious taking of an object belonging to others without the owner s consent with the
intent to make gain. This is the definition which our court uses, our law simply creates one distinction
for these offences. The law creates two types of theft: Simple Theft and Aggravated Theft.
Simple Theft:
First element is contrectazio this is the taking away, this element has 3 schools of thought: 1. Carrara:
Says amozio (movement), as soon as you have movement of the object, or as soon as the offender lays
his hands on the object and simply moves it the offence of theft is complete. ... Show more content on

Violence: Manzini writes that violenece doesn t have to be addressed to the victim but against any
other person present during the crime. This is because the fundamental element of aggravation and
applies to all aggravations is that the aggravation must have facilitated the commission of the crime.
This was established in Pulizija vs Emmanuel Testa, Testa was a bus conductor who was charged with
violent indecent assault for having groped an 18 year old s breast on a bus. Was charged with violent
indecent assault aggravated by a public office, the fact alone that he was a bus conductor, as a public
officer. But this position as a public did not facilitate the aggravation and the court agreed that it did
not facilitate the crime. So he couldn t get an aggravation because he was a public officer.
Our law speaks of bodily harm or threats of bodily harm, there must be real or perceived bodily harm.
What is essential is that this threat must necessarily be an influence on the victim s mind. Violence can
be used against a thing in so far as it instils fear of further harm to one s self. The violence and the
threat has to be such that it instils fear into the victim.
Another form is violenza numerica , more than 2 thieves present themselves. By the term present
themselves they don t need to know they are all there, the victim has to know there are more than two
they need not be in front of the victim. The rule is that you have to be

Herpes Simplex 1 Symptoms Natural Treatment
There is a old misconception Herpes Simplex 1 only infects above the belt by manifesting as cold
sores. Herpes Type 2 was previously considered below the belt and caused genital lesions. However,
the medical profession has found oral genital contact can spread either, so that types of herpes have
become virtually insignificant.
Let s define herpes. It is very contagious. It is transmitted by bodily fluids. Proper hand washing
precautions should be taken to keep the virus from a cold sore from spreading to the genitals. The first
time herpes symptoms appear is called the primary occurrence and it worse than recurring outbreaks.
Symptoms generally occur within 4 7 days after contact. Initial symptoms are burning, chronic itch or
tingling. In a couple of days, pimply sores pop up on reddish skin. Later, the pimples metamorphose
into agonizing blisters.
When the blisters burst, they secrete blood and yellowish pus. Approximately a week after the first
symptoms, scabs form, which signals healing has begun.
While it is rare, it is possible for Herpes to spread to the eyes. This requires the speedy attention of a
medical professional.
A person can be infected and not know it. Symptoms may not show for some time following contact,
yet the person can still be contagious. This is because viral shedding occurs during the tingling stage.
Of course, people who have active lesions shed the virus and are contagious.
What are Natural Treatments for Herpes Simplex 1?

investment objective ordinarily is to accomplish the equal return as a specific market index, for

help accomplish their investment objective. Some index funds put resources into the sum of the
organizations included in an index; other index funds put resources into a delegate example of the

I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran which
took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major purpose of the
war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as Operation Enduring
Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and weaken the Al Qaeda
militia and their Taliban supporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while we had gone for a
swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood California. Tony Michaels,
Kim and I were present at the time of the interview.

Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies
at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a
shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer
explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting
the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to
ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting
new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. He underwent basic combat training,
which was really tough but he had no option but to persevere and face the challenges as they came.
Many of his counterparts quit in the process. Jack was enlisted in

Ester Synthesis Lab Report
The synthesis of an ester using Fisher esterification by reacting acetic acid with an unknown alcohol

and an alcohol in presence of an acid catalyst. In this experiment, the carboxylic acid is acetic acid,
and the alcohol is unknown. The product has a banana like smell, which was most likely to be pentyl
acetate, 2 pentyl acetate, or isopentyl acetate. The IR spectroscopy was performed on the alcohol and
the product in order to confirm the synthesis of ester. Three distinct signals were observed on alcohol
IR spectrum. A broad signal was observed between 3500 3200cm 1 indicates O H functional group.

4 distinct signals and two overlapping signals were observed on the spectrum. From left to right, the
first signal labeled as B is a multiplet at 4.8ppm since it is next to the ester group, has 5 neighbors, is
the most deshielded proton. Therefore, the ester can be either 2 pentylacetate or 1, 3 dimethylbutyl
acetate. Since it has the banana like smell, the ester would most likely be 2 pentylacetate. Other
signals would further confirm the identity of the synthesized ester. The signals labeled as A at
2.01ppm should be a singlet since it is next the ester group and has no neighbor. Two overlapping
signals labeled as D E have 3 and 5 neighbors, respectively. The signals are multiplet overlapping each
other between 1.6 to 1.30 ppm. A doublet was seen in the spectrum at 1.18ppm labeled as C since the
protons are on the carbon that attached to the tertiary carbon, which locates next to the ester group
labeled as B and has one proton. Lastly, a triplet labeled F was seen at 0.90ppm, which is the most
shielded since it locates the furthest from the electronegative ester group. These signals confirm that
ester product is indeed 2 pentyl acetate. Since 2 pentyl acetate was confirmed to be the synthesized
ester, the starting alcohol must be

The Causes And Impacts Of Vice Media
In 2013, Vice Media, a former punk magazine, had shocked the world with their HBO series showing
the basketball diplomacy between United States and North Korea. Like never before, Americans had
finally seen what inside North Korea through the eyes of this new emerging media company. By
essentially going against traditional ways of delivering the news, the company had surprised most
existed media companies. Vice Media has since then been in the public eye. Regarding how they
execute their contents, Vice media could be seen as an example of postmodernism.
Unlike many mainstream media, Vice uses gonzo journalism, in which the journalist put him/herself
as a part of the story, to deliver their contents. With that being said, Vice would send their staff
members into a real life dangerous situation where they would film every raw image like bloodshed
and slaying. They would also let the camera know what they feel or think about the situation. In one of
their HBO series filming in Afghanistan, the journalist had given an emotional speech after his
interview with the child suicide bombers without any filter. With this journaling method, not only does
Vice provide the audience with the facts of the story without any filter, but it also allows them to
reflect on all the emotion received by the narrator. Vice has also loosened the format of the traditional
television reporting. They began to use the twist of combining news with entertainment to make news

believing art to be a serious subject that should be treated with maximum realism and truth.
The principal philosophies of their movement were primarily religious, but would often draw
inspiration from texts and literature, particularly those associated with death and love. In their
paintings, the Brotherhood created an entirely new manner of presenting human anatomy by imbuing
their depictions of men and women with medieval and spiritual ideas in which they were so
captivated. Its original members; John Everett Millais, William Holman Hunt and Dante Gabriel
Rosetti s work became heavily influential after great opposition at the beginning, and a second phase
of the movement occurred at around 1860 with particular works ¬¬¬¬majorly influencing the
succeeding Symbolism movement.
After a 1984 exhibition of the Pre Raphaelite s works at the Tate Gallery, a shift in the interpretation of
their work took place. Instead, analysis grew upon the subject of gender and sexuality when it came to
light the relationships between the artistic work and the circumstances of its creation. Priorities over
the attitudes concerning women that thought of them as either devilish femme fatale s or virtuous

Smart Technology And Student Learning
11. I used many different resources, including technology, to enhance student learning. This was done
through Smart technology allowing my students to go on a virtual fieldtrip. They were able to learn
more about the three environments and the types of animals that live in those environments.
12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged.
They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were
actively listening and participating during the station time.
13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc.
throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final
assessment. One example of a student s response would be when my students were participating in
small group discussions with peers. I went to the station this student was at and asked the student how
they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to articulate a
response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the students as a
formative assessment. The final assessment took place when the students participated in the
SmartBoard matching activity at the end of the lesson.
14. There were different ways I planned and managed my time and routines such as transitions and
pacing so that instructional time was maximized. First of all, my class is familiar with transitioning

Evaluating The Internal Control System
The auditor required to providing a reasonable assurance about the financial statements that they are

According to AU C 240, fraudulent financial reporting and misappropriation of assets are the two
main category of fraud. The auditor should consider the incentive or pressure upon the employee,
evaluating the environment or the opportunities to commit the fraud and looking at the justifications to

The Meaning of Heritage in Everyday Use
In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, the author portrays opposing ideas about one s
heritage. Through the eyes of two daughters, Dee and Maggie, who have chosen to live their lives in
very different manners, the reader can choose which character to identify most with by judging what is
really important in one s life. In Dee s case, she goes out to make all that can of herself while leaving
her past behind, in comparison to Maggie, who stays back with her roots and makes the most out of
the surroundings that she has been placed in. Through the use of symbolism, the tangible object of a
family heirloom quilt brings out these issues relating to heritage to Mama, and she is able to
reasonably decide which of her daughters has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Critic David Cowart believes that Maggie represents black women who must suffer while the
occasional lucky sister escapes the ghetto , comparing her modest lifestyle to Dee s more outgoing one
(172). Mama portrays Maggie as a girl who will stand hopelessly... homely and ashamed of the burn
scars down her arms and legs from the fire, and who feels inferior to Dee (Walker 408). Even though
she is never in competition with Dee, Maggie knows that Dee always gets her way, so Maggie does
not anticipate receiving the quilts. She does not need them to recognize her heritage. From all of the
vivid descriptions used to describe Dee and Maggie, it is obvious that Maggie and Mama s perspective
of heritage is more respectable than that of Dee s, because of the way that Dee acts as though she is
ashamed of it. It is ironic that Dee wants the family quilts so badly, when in many ways she tries to
disown her family in attempts to lose her heritage. Washington argues that Dee is a character who is
awakened to life by a powerful political force... and puts up a consequent effort to reintegrate
themselves into their culture to rediscover its value ; which explains her actions when she comes back
for her family items only when it seems fashionable to display them (23). Maggie and Mama both
know that a true appreciation of one s heritage comes from learning their family history and about
personal experiences. Dee fails

Discovery Morning Poem And How Do I Love Thee
The Three Poems Discovery, Morning Poem, and How Do I Love Thee are the poems my essay will

form. What will be talked about in these three poems is an allegory, simile, etc.. Which are very
important objects that help create and give detail in the poems. Each poem has is short but has so
much meaning to the very few words it has. The poem Discovery was written by Michael S, Harper.
In this poem he discusses how he is laying down with the one he loves in a dark room, he waits for her
to fall asleep and then he does, he then awakes to her staring at him with the light by the bed on. This

scholarly journal is written by subject specialist that inform readers with their in depth analysis and

Experts believe that without devaluation, UK s interest rates could ve gotten even higher and they
would ve faced deflationary pressure.
In 2002, the Argentina government devalued the peso after a deep recession. This disaster began in the
1980s when Argentina faced high inflation rates and dreadful debt. Insurmountable debt grew due to
poor tax collection, government spending, and a decrease in tax revenue. In attempt to create a fixed
exchange rate, Argentina set in law a peg of a one to one ratio of the Argentina peso and the dollar
(Pettinger 2012). Eventually appreciation in Argentina s currency led to an 15% unemployment rate.
In the early 2000s Argentina ditched the fixed exchange rate causing a devaluation in their currency.
The effects of that devaluation had both an upside and downside. After the devaluation, Argentinians
were forced to stop purchasing imports and purchase mostly domestic goods. The economy of
Argentina also has annually increased their GDP. However, the devaluation also caused a decrease in
living standards and inflation.
In 1991, India faced an economic downfall which resulted in a devaluation of their currency. The
Indian rupee decreased in value by 9% and not so long after that, the value of the rupee went down to
11%. Their economic downfall began when the rupee was fixed to other common trading partners. A
series of Indian balance issues caused the devaluation. Since the devaluation,

Acute Myeloid Leukemia
This year in the United States there will be an estimated 1,665,540 diagnosed cancer cases and
585,720 deaths due to the disease.1 Cancer ranks as the second most common cause of death in the
US only behind heart disease. As cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of all deaths in the United
States2, many people view the diagnosis of cancer as a death sentence. This feeling of hopelessness
can lead patients to make questionable decisions regarding treatment options. While current advances
have led to increasingly positive prognoses for those diagnosed with differing forms of cancer, the
significant death rate among those same patients may deter cancer patients from seeking traditional
therapies and treatments. What people often times do not realize is that most of these alternative forms
of treatment that have not been proven to be effective may be more detrimental to patients health than
the actual cancer itself. In order to fully understand the effectiveness of the treatments that a patient is
going to receive, it is important to look not only the physiological effects of the treatments themselves,
but also the effects of the disease.
Each year in the United States roughly 2.4 per every 100,000 Americans under the age of 65 are
diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and 12.6 per 100,000 are diagnosed over the age of 65 10. Up
until the 1970s the five year survival rates for affected patients was less than 15 percent.

Buchi Emecheta s literary terrain is the domestic experience of the female characters, and the way in
which these characters try to turn the table against the second class and slavish status to which they

informs us of the ways fiction, especially women s writing, plays a role in constructing a world in
which women can live complete lives; a world that may provide women with opportunities for

(xii) Emecheta s first novels which are set in Nigeria, The Salve Girl, The Bride Price and The Joys of
Motherhood work like a double edged sword. On the one hand, they are portraits of female bondage
(Frank 749), describing African women in their total submergence and enslavement. On the other, they
depict the structures and institutions which empower women and increase their participation in the
socio political, economic and spiritual activities in their community. In these three novels she gives a
picture of women in contemporary society as well as those in the past. The realistic picture provided
by the writer destroys women s contentment with the present state of affairs while giving insights into
the strategies that enable women to survive the oppressions of patriarchal society. Two types of
women are presented in these novels: those that concede to oppression and domination of the
patriarchal society and those who try hard to exploit the existing institutions of their society for their
best. It is mainly in these three novels that the writer intends to show the positive possibilities offered
to women in the traditional African society which helps them have some degrees of authenticity and
also remind the readers of colonialism s responsibilities in depriving women of these rights and thus
aggravating the subjugation. In an Igbo society there are

Stump Grinding
A Few Things To Know About Stump Grinding If you ve worked hard the last few weekends
chopping down a tree in your yard, you now have to decide what to do about the stump. Digging a
stump out of the ground is difficult work, if it is even possible. You could pull it out with a truck, but
then you have to dispose of the big stump. The most efficient and easy way to get rid of a tree stump
in your yard is to grind it. Here is some more information. Deciding On DIY Or Professional Removal
If you only have one stump to grind, you might as well hire a tree service professional and save
yourself the trouble of renting a grinder and doing the work yourself. Renting a grinder for the day
costs about the same as having a professional remove one tree. If you re trying to save money, then
you ll want to get a quote. The price depends on the size of the tree, its location, and the type of tree

The best scenario is to have the main roots ground away several inches below the soil. This helps keep
the tree from sending up shoots and growing back. It also makes room for new tree roots to grow if

one, you may be limited to a small model that isn t capable of grinding deep into the roots. Some
commercial stump grinders fit on tractors or trucks and can chew up stumps all the way down to the
main roots a few feet into the ground. Consider what you plan to do with the space once the tree is
gone when determining how to handle the roots. If you decide on shallow grinding, then you ll want to
watch the space and cut back shoots when they appear so a new tree doesn t start growing where you

Juvenile Crimes Face Harsh Punishments
There are serious flaws with the way the US judicial system prosecutes juveniles. Although there is a
juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different
between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on the
crime they committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh
punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing, based
on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being sent to the
juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult courts. Trying a
child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET: A summary of the
rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that by transferring a
child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights.
A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to distinguish
right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age of 18, differently
than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very serious crimes. But
that is not the way it is being implemented in the US. There are three ways a youth offender can be
transferred from a juvenile court to an adult court in the US. Brink (2004) lists the

Fear, Regret, And Ixiety In The Glass Menagerie
When the body contracts a germ, the white blood cells are in a race against time to rid the body of this
foreign bug that had invaded the human body so that the host does not get sick. If the germ is
eradicated in time, the body might vomit, sneeze, cough, or even have diarrhea. We can label this as a
form of in house purging. But what happens if the germ goes undetected?
Cathartic behaviors are those that cause the soul of a person to release things that are meant to come
out. How can one know how to release if you are not aware of the cause? In the Glass Menagerie,
each character is afflicted with a psychoanalytic behavior which has entrapped them in their world.
Everyone on the outside can see this affliction, except for those who are there. We further investigate
the cause of fear, regret, and anxiety each character possesses by applying these psychoanalytic
theories. In The Glass Menagerie, we are going to discover the psychosis conflict within Amanda s
fear, Tom s regret, and Laura s anxiety.
What is fear? According to dictionary.com fear is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger,
evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.
Amanda lives in constant fear. Some of her fear is real, and other parts are just purely imagined. When
fear gets out of control, or when we fear something that cannot actually harm us, it can escalate to a
point where it effects our daily functioning. Fear is no longer adaptive

Breast Cancer And Cancer Awareness Essay
Breast Cancer Advertisements
1) Criteria for Comparison Cancer that starts in the tissues of the breast is known as breast cancer.
Breast cancer is a potentially deadly disease that is one of the major causes of cancer related deaths
among women. One woman in fourteen will contract breast cancer during her lifetime and one in
twenty one will die of it (Fallowfield, Clark 1991). The national breast cancer awareness is vastly

bring attention to breast cancer throughout the entire month, help women get educated, and raise
awareness. The awareness campaigns offers the perfect opportunity to briefly review what breast
awareness means, and how to promote it in primary care (Edwards, 2008). This paper will focus on

While the Keirsey website provides detailed, lengthy descriptions of each temperament, some
individuals may have characteristics which fit into two temperaments. For instance, I have always
been independent, nearly since birth. I have always loathed asking for assistance when performing a
demanding task, feeling I can manage best when working without assistance. However, I am
optimistic when unfortunate events take place, and I have a strong background in the arts. With that
said, can personality realistically be given one category, or do others have characteristics which fit

extraversion or introversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving (Ford
Martin, 2015). Extroverts are those more focused on others and the outside world, while introverts
tend to keep to themselves. The dimension of sensing or intuition measures whether the individual
perceives the world more efficiently using the five senses, or if they tend to lean on their intuition
(Ciccarelli, 2014). The dimension of thinking or feeling measures whether individuals prefer to

Four months later, Penn had constructed his general layout for colonization. To the purchasers of sites

Philadelphia to be a duplicate of London. Instead, he desired the appearance of an orderly, yet rural,

wanted Pennsylvania to be ruled by. Penn idealized Pennsylvania as the political solution to economic
prosperity. The free practice of different faiths, except for Roman Catholicism, was necessary to a
successful economy. Political participation by various religious groups was also a condition for a

The Sea is My Brother by Jack Kerouack Essay
Soldiering is 99% boredom and 1% of sheer terror , a civil war soldier wrote this to his wife in a letter

of boredom? Well, especially for the men in the frontlines, who were far from any form of
entertainment, writing letters, diaries and poems were some of the few available options. These were
the forms of war literatures that soldiers used to express and share their feelings with their loved ones
at home, as well as record the horrors of war in subjective portrayal of events. Military personnaels

Just reacently after his discharge, Kerouac wrote his first novel, The Sea is My Brother . The
characters and plot of this novel was based on Kerouac s brief experience in the U.S Navy. Although
the young writer (at that time being 20 years of age) had not served the average amount of service like
most soldiers, the 8 days he had been active, was enough for him to write about it and share what he
had faced.
Soldiers were not the only people who wrote during ww2. It did not have to take a person to fight in
combat, live in trenches or stay at the home front to write about the privation, suffering and the life
conditions of WWII. A group of Canadian poets called the montreal Group were modernist writers
during the mid 1920 s. The members included Leon Edel, John Glassco, A.M.J Smith, Leo Kennedy
and F.K Scott. These men followed a style of writing that s purpose was to break the traditional and

many occupations, but no difference. In The Giver, Lois Lowry uses the following symbols to help

choice. The text states Well...Jonas had to stop and think it through. If everything s the same, then
there aren t any choices! I want to wake up in the morning and decide things! (Lowry 97). The quote
talks about Jonas when he was complaining to the Giver about not being able to have choices in
sameness. He used that anger and gave himself a choice, to leave or stay in sameness. He chooses to
leave and was able to have a continuous amount of choices after that. He sometimes chose correctly or
incorrectly in his choices. Also, the Giver was talking about Rosemary in this quote. The text says
When the new receiver failed the memories that she had received were released. They didn t come
back to me. They went... (Lowry 104). The quote talks about when Jones was learning about
Rosemary and what she did from the Giver. Rosemary s choice to be released was what gave Jonas the
urge to leave sameness. Rosemary also ties into why Jonas made his decision to leave. This is because
Jonas and Rosemary both made a similar decision for the same reason. They both left sameness (in a
way) so that the residents of sameness would receive the memories they were given by the

How Is Genesis 1-11 Related To Sociology
1. Genesis 1 3
On the sixth day of creation, God created Adam and gave him total dominion over the Garden of
Eden. After a period of time, God realized that it was not good for Adam to remain alone in the
Garden, and therefore created Eve from Adam s ribs. God allowed Adam and Eve to dwell in the
Garden of Eden but commanded that they did not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and
Evil. However, a serpent later persuades Eve to pick an apple from the Tree, who then offers it to
Adam. God becomes very angry and casts them out from the Garden of Eden. The classical Disney
movie, Snow White, alludes to Adam and Eve. In the movie, an innocent and pure girl named Snow
White is offered a poisonous apple by a wicked witch. The witch claims that the apple was magical
and had the power to grant Snow White a wish. Snow White becomes convinced and takes a bite from
the apple, causing her to fall into a deep slumber. Both the serpent and witch used the art of
temptation, sin, and greed to lure their foe into committing wrong things.

  • 2. Students must Learn, Practice and Apply their Knowledge to... CHAPTER1. INTRODUCTION Introduction Time is one of the major factors in learning .In order for learners to achieve success in any field, they need time to learn ,practice and apply what they have learned to fulfill goals (Farbman ,A N). Educational institutes in the US nowadays are trying to improve the quality of the education offered to students, therefor, there is a growing concern on how to use educational resources effectively such as time in learning. Previous researches indicated that there is a direct relation between the amount of time given to instruction and learning. This paper contributes to this growing literature on the effect of the long time spending in the educational institutes on students performance and achievement. In order to examine the impact of long instructional hours on student success and performance an action research project has been conducted at the ELS center in Murfreesboro. Aim of the Research The main of this research is to investigate the students perspectives concerning the long instructional hours in the ELS Center. The Research Objectives The objectives of the project is to identify the advantages and the disadvantages of the long working hours in the ELS center as well as offering suggestions for alternative scheduling to improve the quality of education offered by the center and might also increase students productivity and performance in the future. • 3. Case Study On Hockey India instrument to the cause of preserving the integrity of the sport, and aspiring for its orderly development. It further went on to state that the measures implemented by the consortium under its pyramid structure were not unconditionally inherent and proportionate to the achievements of purely sporting objectives. In fact, the CCI read a strong commercial dimension into the conduct of the board. While some may argue that this case lacks the balancing of rights perspective that was employed in the Hockey India judgment, it would also, perhaps, not be altogether misguided to prefer the Hockey India judgment to have progressed on the lines of the BCCI case. With a firm recommendation to revamp the core structure of its organisation such that clashes between its regulatory and organisational powers cease to be a regular feature, the CCI liberated Hockey India of the charges levelled against it. Directing the institution of a rationalised and transparent system to supervise the promulgation of NOCs, the CCI relied on an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stance of the CCI does appear to be rather implausible, especially as it dismisses the arguments to the alternative citing the lack of evidence that effectively corroborates that Hockey India deliberately acted against the players who wished to participate in the league. Moreover, it is pertinent to note that within a year of the alleged anti competitive policies being drawn up by Hockey India, its proposal for a rival league was released. Hence, to absolve the body for inclusion of commercial aspects in its practices might hardly be the way to proceed. In addition, while the CoC Agreement did not explicitly enjoin the freedom of players to participate in the World Series Hockey League, it certainly served as a sheer ... Most smallmouth range from 10 inches up to 20. Bass over 20 inches are rare but a lot of fun to catch. A good healthy temperature for small mouth is between 68 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Normally bass live between 6 to 14 years, but with perfect conditions a bass can live up to 20 years. Small mouth like to create nests with their tails in 3 to 8 feet of water, with sand and small gravel for a bottom. The male will create and guard the nest. After mating the female is evicted and goes on to possibly mate with other males. The male will watch after the nest and babies (minnows) for two weeks, then they all split up. Smallies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smallmouths have both external fertilization and external development. Feeding for smallmouth tops when the temperature is around 78 degrees and starts to slow down once the temperature goes below 40 degrees. The male always guards the eggs and the babies which are known as fry. The spawning usually occurs in April or May unless the temperature stays cold than it can be delayed. The first person to describe a smallmouth bass was Lacepede is 1802. The fry hatch out of their eggs in about a week and then continue to develop for another week. Young smallmouths are fed upon by yellow perch, Northern pike or muskellunge. Bigger bass are only eaten by northern pike, musky but the main predators of smallmouth bass are humans. The lifespan in the wild is normally about seven years, but some will live up to 20 years. In captivity the average age is ten years. When the young hatch out of their eggs they are about 0.2 inches long, very easy prey for a variety of animals. Multiple females will spawn in the nest of one male and an individual female will spawn in more than one. Smallmouth dance and bite each other, this is their mating ritual. In New York the record smallmouth was 8 pounds, 4 ounces caught out of Lake Erie on 6/4/1995 by Andrew C Kartesz. Smallmouth bass are beginning to destroy Brooke trout fisheries and Atlantic salmon fisheries. • 5. Women s Suffrage And Voting Rights Abstract Which individuals or groups started the women s revolution (suffrage) to voting rights? Where did the first revolution occur? When did women become eligible to vote? How did the revolution to women s voting rights transpire? Why was it so important for women to be able to vote? The questions before you are the very questions I intend to have answered while researching this subject. I want to take my readers back into time when women had no voice to be heard, and no opinions to be made. Women like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucy Stone are just some of the women whom paved the way for our women of today. I will cover their stories and their individual fight for women s right. While traveling back into time I will discuss with my readers which one of these particular women or women s group have made an impact on my life personally and how I can relate to them. I will also fast forward to the outcome which led us to the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Women s Right to Vote, And the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well. Although this is outside of our date and time range I want my readers to know how this impacted Americans everyday life until this very day. • 6. Flaws In The Odyssey A hero is someone who has given him or her life to something bigger than oneself. (Joseph Campbell) The Odyssey is an Epic about a greek hero named Odysseus. He s escaping from the Trojan War and he s trying to return to his family safely. During his journey he meets many complications and obstacles that stop him from returning home. An example of a creature Odysseus faced was the Cyclops. The Cyclops was a one eyed creatures that lived in a cave and Odysseus went into a feud with a Cyclops named Polyphemus, he was Poseidon s son. These situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These people believe that Odysseus was a strong leader, he s brave, and he s loyal to his family. They are wrong for viewing Odysseus as a hero, and here s why. First of all, a strong leader wouldn t treat his shipmates like slaves, instead he would listen to their desires and try to put them in action. Odysseus was a brave hero for facing the monsters and for defending his shipmates, but he had to show mercy to the opposing side. During the journey, Odysseus was very violent and he always assumed that everyone is trying to murder him, so he attacked anyone and anything that opposed his ideas or actions. Lastly, a good hero wouldn t hide the truth about his shipmates deaths. In addition, a hero wouldn t betray his shipmates and leave them to run into their own deaths just to see his family. This was when Odysseus went to the blind prophet and she said that the ship and crew will get destroyed and he ll return safely, he still continued his journey with no doubt. Some people might that it s a sign of loyalty, but it s not because he s taking away lives to return home. These were all true and valid traits of Odysseus, but they all have deep and bad meanings behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Washburn University Application Essay Sample I fell in love with politics at the age of 10, the year was 2004, and I liked John Kerry because he shared my name. I also supported him because my father, at the time, was supporting George W. Bush and I was a rather antagonistic child. Over time I ve certainly become more nuanced in the candidates I support, but that year began a lifetime journey into a field that is ever changing, ever competitive, and that impacts so many lives. By the time I got to college, my decision to major in political science came as a surprise to absolutely no one in my life. But I knew that my major was more than just a field of study, it s essentially a lifestyle. Studying political science requires so much more than reading textbooks and writing papers and doing quantitative analysis, at its very core it s about how people live their lives. I knew that I would have to make concerted efforts outside of the classroom in order to truly understand the way things worked. My first effort at this was serving on the planning and zoning commission for the City of Coffeyville while attending Coffeyville Community College, which gave me a chance to understand local government at a level that most ... • 8. Donatello s Bronze Statue Of David Michelangelo Donatello s bronze sculpture of David is not to be confused with the much larger and more widely known statue of the same name, done by Michelangelo. Donatello s statue of David can be found in the Bargello museum in Florence, Italy. The statue only stands about five feet tall, which when compared to the seventeen foot sculpture by Michelangelo, is relatively small. The statue is made of bronze using the lost wax technique. It depicts David as having a very effeminate contrapposto stance, (the standing figure is posed so the weight rests on one leg, while the other leg is bent at the knee in a very relaxed position), despite standing upon Goliath s severed head. One could almost view David as a girl, provided he was not nude, due to the soft looking expression on his face, and the way his hair flows. The floral arrangement upon his head is very distinct. The statue exudes epicenism, as David is clearly a soldier holding a sword and wearing boots standing upon his vanquished foe s head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Becoming A Good Writer To me, the best writing is when you can t put the book down and want to keep reading more and more. It is when you can make a personal connection to whatever the characters are going through in their life. To make a good piece of writing you have to have many things, but most importantly you should have good vocabulary, punctuation, and sentence fluency so that it is easy to follow. I know that writing will always be an important thing in my life. I m taking Foundations of Writing to prepare myself for college and to learn how to become a better writer. I will use what I learned in this class while I am writing college papers or even for a future job. When I am given an assignment, the first thing I do is think about how I am going to write it. Then I begin writing down my thoughts until I can t think of anything else to add. When I have no new ideas I start to get bored and then I begin to procrastinate. Procrastinating is one of my biggest weaknesses. I always wait until just a few days before the paper is due to really start working on it hard. Another weakness of mine is that it s hard for me to put my thoughts into words and sentences that make sense. Something I have never understood are semicolons. I don t know when I should use them and when I should not. I would say that my biggest strengths are that I always write in complete sentences and use good vocabulary. ... This is the definition which our court uses, our law simply creates one distinction for these offences. The law creates two types of theft: Simple Theft and Aggravated Theft. Simple Theft: First element is contrectazio this is the taking away, this element has 3 schools of thought: 1. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Violence: Manzini writes that violenece doesn t have to be addressed to the victim but against any other person present during the crime. This is because the fundamental element of aggravation and applies to all aggravations is that the aggravation must have facilitated the commission of the crime. This was established in Pulizija vs Emmanuel Testa, Testa was a bus conductor who was charged with violent indecent assault for having groped an 18 year old s breast on a bus. Was charged with violent indecent assault aggravated by a public office, the fact alone that he was a bus conductor, as a public officer. But this position as a public did not facilitate the aggravation and the court agreed that it did not facilitate the crime. So he couldn t get an aggravation because he was a public officer. Our law speaks of bodily harm or threats of bodily harm, there must be real or perceived bodily harm. What is essential is that this threat must necessarily be an influence on the victim s mind. Violence can be used against a thing in so far as it instils fear of further harm to one s self. The violence and the threat has to be such that it instils fear into the victim. Another form is violenza numerica , more than 2 thieves present themselves. By the term present themselves they don t need to know they are all there, the victim has to know there are more than two they need not be in front of the victim. The rule is that you have to be ... • 12. Herpes Simplex 1 Symptoms Natural Treatment There is a old misconception Herpes Simplex 1 only infects above the belt by manifesting as cold sores. Herpes Type 2 was previously considered below the belt and caused genital lesions. However, the medical profession has found oral genital contact can spread either, so that types of herpes have become virtually insignificant. Let s define herpes. It is very contagious. It is transmitted by bodily fluids. Proper hand washing precautions should be taken to keep the virus from a cold sore from spreading to the genitals. The first time herpes symptoms appear is called the primary occurrence and it worse than recurring outbreaks. Symptoms generally occur within 4 7 days after contact. Initial symptoms are burning, chronic itch or tingling. In a couple of days, pimply sores pop up on reddish skin. Later, the pimples metamorphose into agonizing blisters. When the blisters burst, they secrete blood and yellowish pus. Approximately a week after the first symptoms, scabs form, which signals healing has begun. While it is rare, it is possible for Herpes to spread to the eyes. This requires the speedy attention of a medical professional. A person can be infected and not know it. Symptoms may not show for some time following contact, yet the person can still be contagious. This is because viral shedding occurs during the tingling stage. Of course, people who have active lesions shed the virus and are contagious. What are Natural Treatments for Herpes Simplex 1? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Memory Jogging Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. Fisher esterification is a reaction that produces ester by refluxing a carboxylic acid and an alcohol in presence of an acid catalyst. The product has a banana like smell, which was most likely to be pentyl acetate, 2 pentyl acetate, or isopentyl acetate. The IR spectroscopy was performed on the alcohol and the product in order to confirm the synthesis of ester. Three distinct signals were observed on alcohol IR spectrum. From left to right, the first signal labeled as B is a multiplet at 4.8ppm since it is next to the ester group, has 5 neighbors, is the most deshielded proton. Therefore, the ester can be either 2 pentylacetate or 1, 3 dimethylbutyl acetate. Since it has the banana like smell, the ester would most likely be 2 pentylacetate. Other signals would further confirm the identity of the synthesized ester. The signals labeled as A at 2.01ppm should be a singlet since it is next the ester group and has no neighbor. Two overlapping signals labeled as D E have 3 and 5 neighbors, respectively. The signals are multiplet overlapping each other between 1.6 to 1.30 ppm. A doublet was seen in the spectrum at 1.18ppm labeled as C since the protons are on the carbon that attached to the tertiary carbon, which locates next to the ester group labeled as B and has one proton. Lastly, a triplet labeled F was seen at 0.90ppm, which is the most shielded since it locates the furthest from the electronegative ester group. Other inspirations came from art critic John Ruskin s encouragement to go to nature , believing art to be a serious subject that should be treated with maximum realism and truth. The principal philosophies of their movement were primarily religious, but would often draw inspiration from texts and literature, particularly those associated with death and love. In their paintings, the Brotherhood created an entirely new manner of presenting human anatomy by imbuing their depictions of men and women with medieval and spiritual ideas in which they were so captivated. As cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of all deaths in the United States2, many people view the diagnosis of cancer as a death sentence. This feeling of hopelessness can lead patients to make questionable decisions regarding treatment options. While current advances have led to increasingly positive prognoses for those diagnosed with differing forms of cancer, the significant death rate among those same patients may deter cancer patients from seeking traditional therapies and treatments. What people often times do not realize is that most of these alternative forms of treatment that have not been proven to be effective may be more detrimental to patients health than the actual cancer itself. Although there is a juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on the crime they committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing, based on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being sent to the juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult courts. Trying a child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET: A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that by transferring a child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights. A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age of 18, differently than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very serious crimes.
