Descriptive Essay About Early Birthday
Early Birthday Present It was a beautiful morning on July 5th, 2015. Outside the birds were chirping
and the sun was beaming through my window. I had just woken up as both of my parents came into
my room, and told me to come downstairs for a surprise. In my mind, I thought something had arrived
from Amazon and they decided to give it to me now as an early birthday present. After lying in bed for
a little while on my phone, I decided to get up. I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and went downstairs
to see what this was all about. Right when I turned the corner into the kitchen, I saw a poster board
that said SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! on it. Next to the sign, there was a food bowl and a dog
cage. I immediately knew that it had something to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m thinking about Murphy , do you like that? Sounds perfect! My mom and dad said in unison. After
what it felt like 20 hours in the car, we were finally there! Right when I saw him, I knew that he was a
perfect match for my family. He doesn t have an original name, so you can name him whatever you
want, any ideas? The owner asked. We have already decided on Murphy. My mom explained. Sounds
wonderful, there s just a few things you need to know. Okay My mom replied. If he gets a little hyper,
give him this medicine to calm him down He replied as he handed over the medicine. Got it, anything
else? One more thing. You have to brush him very often because his fur gets tangled after a while.
Okay thanks, we are gonna get him. Great! I have some forms that you have to fill out before you
leave. He exclaimed. I was so happy. After my parents got done paying and getting his forms, we
headed back home! When we got in the car, my parents told me we have to go get a carrier so he
doesn t slide around in the car and get hurt. On the way to the store, he was shaking like he was
scared, and I had a feeling he didn t like being in a car. When we got to Lowes, my mom and I stayed
in the car with Murphy while my dad went in to get the carrier. About 15 minutes later, my dad came
out with a small carrier. It was blue, with black edges. It was perfect! When my dad got in the car, he
gave me the carrier and I put Murphy in. Murphy crawled in

Essay On Saving Sophie
Good people who deserve peace will stop listening to bad people , said by none other that Ronald H.
Balson, author of the book Saving Sophie. There is no better way of putting this rap up to the book.
Threw all the bad in this world it s hard to fight it, unless you stand up to them, showing them who s
boss. In the novel we have a beaten man who has lost everyone dear to him, his wife and even his
daughter. Throughout the novel this man who calls himself Jack Sommers is trying to save the only
thing he has left 6,000 miles away from the clutches of a terrorist who is a treturous stepfather, his
daughter Sophie. Trying to get his daughter back he cannot do it alone. It could only be done with
help. There are a few characters that jack meets along the way. His long time friend Marcy, Catherine
Lockhart,Dr. Arif al Zahani, and FBI agents Kayla Cummings and Liam Taggart . We start to see
conflicts start to take shape with themselfs as well as others.. With love and death at every turn, this is
one story that will make your jaw drop.
Within the novel we start to see a growing relationship between the partnership of Kayla and Liam,
Detectives on the case of an $88 million embezzlement from the company Jenkins and Fairchild. At

Social Engineering Security Breach
Recently, the company has been the subject of a data breach in which confidential files in the network
have been accessed by an unknown party. Upon investigation we have found that a supervisor that
handles customer complaints received an e mail from what appeared to have been a customer with a
complaint regarding an error on the website. Upon investigation he found no such error, but did find
that the return address did not exist. It is very likely the company has become the victim of one or
more social engineers seeking to exfiltrate data from the company. It is believed that that source of the
attack was a spear phishing campaign via the e mail sent to the supervisor that oversees customer
complaints. While supervisor e mails are not normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

vulnerability assessment testing should be developed before the tests are deployed, and the new policy

policy can be updated, and all employee should receive information to changes in the policy. After the
policy is approved, and the test is designed and approved by management and reviewed by the legal

Ideally I would recommend that the social engineering assessment be conducted by a third party so as

Long Term Conflict Effects
The effects of long term conflicts are numerous and include both physiological and psychological
effects. Children are specifically effected by ongoing conflicts. Children who grow up in areas of
ongoing conflict develop stereotypes and attitudes towards those in the opposing group. It effects their
understanding of the world in general and develops the way in which they respond to violence and
conflict. In essence, growing up in an area with an ongoing conflict changes a child s entire worldview
which results in a barrier to peaceful resolutions (Nasie, Diamond, Bar Tal, 2015). In general trauma
and conflict can affect a person differently, but physiological effects can include hippocampus

the conflict have occurred since the beginning of the conflict, they have been more prevalent since the
second intifada in 2000. Prior to this time, Israel was a major source of income for the Palestinian
people. However, after the second intifada, Israel was forced to impose restrictions on employment
and forced to build a wall protecting the nation from outside forces (Miaari, Zussman, Zussman,
2014). This has had a negative physical impact on the Palestinian community as they are not allowed
the freedom to travel and work as they were prior to this time. Since, according to Gelvin (2013) fifty
eight UNRWA camps shelter about 1.5 million [Palestinian] refugees and their descendants (p. 2511)
this has caused an issue with employment for the Palestinian people. It has also negatively impacted
the Israeli citizens as they no longer have access to the Palestinian workers as they did prior to the

The Diary Of A Teenage Girl
The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its
attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young s girl s exploration
of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ on delivery due to
their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie s life as her and the other characters are
portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un barred novel. Rather than
touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film smooths over many of the more
intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself, which is fundamentally different than what
the book intended. The Diary of a Teenage Girl is based on the popular graphic novel by Phoebe
Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well as directed by Marielle Heller. They follow the life of
Minnie (Bew Powley), who is 15 years old, in San Franciso in the year 1976. She lives with her single
mother (Kristin Wiig) and younger sister. Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard), is her mother s 35 year old
boyfriend, and the two of them carry on a secret sexual relationship. In the book, the text speaks for
Minnie in ways that she cannot speak for herself which leaves the reader to fill in the gaps; however,
viewers get no sense of this in the film, where what happens is taken at surface value. Patriarchal
control of the men in her life, such as Pascal and Munroe, still

Ethical Problems Of The Military Logistics System
As far back as 1775 and most likely before that ethical problems have plagued the military logistics
system, to include contracting of logistical support. Throughout our history, whenever there was a
mobilization to support a conflict there was a good possibility that there would be some amount of
fraud, waste or abuse introduced into the logistical system. (Huston, 1997) This paper will discuss
some the different types of fraud, waste or abuse that can occur. It will also cover some recent cases
from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan where military, contractors or both have worked to defraud the
government and will conclude with some things that can be done to fight fraud in the future.
Though logistics and contracting are elements of the military organization, the contracting out of
logistical support is an area that is rife for lax ethics. During the solicitation phase the contracting
officer may try to structure the contract so that only one contractor is capable of fulfilling it. This is
done through making the technical specifications or terms of the contract so specific that only one
bidder is able to meet the terms. (af.mil) Another thing that is done, is submitting requests under a
certain price threshold to draw less scrutiny when they are reviewed. The Veterans Administrations is
dealing with a case like this right now. Purchasers are buying prosthetic limbs on their Government
Purchase Cards, just under the $25K limit so a contract doesn t have to go out

The prisoners loss of some of their rights is part of their punishment for breaking the law if prisoners
kept all their rights prison would not work because prison is meant to take away their freedom
(Prisoner s Rights). Prisoners have taken their rights to court multiple time only proving that the
prisoners have a loose grasp of what rights they deserve and what prison really is resulting in many
foolish cases which waste tax payer s dollars (Prisoner s Rights). For example, a prisoner in Westville
Correctional facility in Indiana has filled over a hundred separate lawsuits in a time span of 8 years,
including one where he sued because the prison would not provide him with pornographic magazines
(Prisoner s Rights). When committing a crime the prisoners lost the right to deny a search because
now there is reasonable cause to search an inmate making it constitutional according to the 4th

Sports And Non-Student Athlete Analysis
Sports are an important part of daily life, and those who play them experience many benefits that
make them a more well rounded person. They not only provide multiple physical benefits, but also
tons of mental ones as well. I have been involved in baseball since the age of three and can definitely
notice these compared to non student athletes. The advantages of playing sports include valuable life
lessons, social skills, and future employment. First, playing sports teaches many valuable life lessons
such as responsibility and a hard work ethic. Responsibility is very crucial in life, and people use it
everyday. It ties into a student s academics because he needs to have responsibility in order to do well
in school. According to Dr. David Geier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teamwork is a crucial aspect because a team wins together and loses together (Grown and Flown,
2016). A number of studies provide support for the premise that physical activity, and sports in
particular, can positively affect aspects of personal development among young people, such as self
esteem, goal setting, and leadership (Aspen Play Project, 2015). Playing sports allow students to make
new friends; they realize other people also have the same interests as them. Through teamwork,
athletes experience leadership, another aspect of teamwork. Captains must socialize with everyone
consistently and usually need to be well liked. Leadership can also affect how a team plays. It is hard
to have a great team without superb leadership and teamwork, making it necessary to have both.
Socialization also includes what people do in their free time. Compared to non athlete peers, females
are more likely to disapprove of others using them (Geier, 2012). According to Grown and Flown
(2016), Teens who have practices, games, team dinners and fitness sessions have less time for
mischief, and in a study, students who participated in sports were found to be happier (Grown and
Flown, 2016). Over the years I have definitely related to this. My parents say I am a much happier and
more motivated person during baseball season, and I

Alexander the Great was often referred to as one of the most influential and the greatest leader of the
world has ever seen. He achieved a great deal in his governance role and military voyages. In a span
of twelve years, Alexander was able to take control of the Persian Empire, defeat Egypt and a large
part of the Middle East. Alexander enjoyed the finest education of that time, moulding him into a
leader that his father, Phillip II who was The Greek philosopher Aristotle and he helped to expand his

most widespread, there was intermixing of culture, where Alexander encouraged intermarrying and
even appointed some Persians into the ranks of his army (Hedayati). This was a strategy to ensure
peace within the kingdom and join his power. His impact on Persia was shown when they started

Egypt, there was increased trading activity between the Egyptians and Phoenicians. Alexander

Krios, Koios, Hyperion and Iapetos were posted at the four corners of the world where they seized
hold of the Sky god and held him fast, while Kronos, hidden in the centre, castrated him with a sickle.
In this myth, Iapetos and the three brothers represent the four cosmic pillars which appear in Near
Eastern cosmogonies holding heaven and earth apart. Iapetos himself was no doubt the pillar of the
west, a position which was later and more obviously held by his son Atlas. Iapetos the piercer may
also have been regarded as the Titan god of the mortal life span. Indeed, his sons Prometheus and
Epimetheus were represented as the creators of mankind and other mortal creatures.
Iapetos may have been the Titan god who presided over the mortal life span who assigned mortal
creatures their finite lot. Like his brother Titanes, he was a god of time, one of the sons of Ouranos,
the great dome of heaven which measured all of time. Iapetos, as one of the more destructive Titanes,
is described by Homer seated beside Kronos (all devouring time) in the depths of the Tartarean pit.
Iapetos and his bride Klymene might have been conceived with a variety of functions. Firstly, as the
god of mortality, Iapetos is the piercer, the god of violent death. His wife Klymene, in this sense,
would naturally be a chthonian (or netherworld) goddess, and indeed, the

The Overall Quality Of Life Of The Asian American Community
Healthcare access, unfortunately, is more difficult for residents for who cannot access transportation
easily. All households in San Francisco, though, are within a quarter mile of a local bus route or rail
station. Proximity, however, does not necessarily equal accessibility, as vulnerable residents like low
income individuals or immigrants have a harder time utilizing services. San Francisco is also known
for having the highest income inequality in the state (CDPH, 2012; SFDPH, 2012).
Experience
One can conclude that the overall quality of life of the Asian American community is moderate. There
is access to resources and services that they need, and most of them are readily available. Not all of
the communities living in San Francisco, though, have equal access to certain services, and there are
still various services that needs to be up to par with the state and national benchmarks. Some of the
major factors that affects access are the inability to pay or distance of the service from their location.
For Chinatown residents, they are living in overcrowded conditions, which can increase their risk for
respiratory and ear infections (CDPH, 2012; SPDFH, 2012). They also face poor sanitation, high
environmental noise, and residential fires. Chinatown residents are facing an increasingly elderly
population, while sitting in a medically underserved area (SFDPH, 2012; Human Service Agency of

The Merging of Cultures in Beowulf
The story of Beowulf represents the merging of two cultural belief systems: paganism and
Christianity. Historically, the Anglo Saxon culture was based upon pagan practices idolatry, worship of
many Gods and a specific warrior s code of conduct. Beowulf was born of this culture as a legend
passed down through centuries by oral tradition until shortly after their conversion to Christianity. It
was finally preserved in written form by an obviously Christian author in an attempt to unify the two
belief systems, and in doing so hopefully further convincing the new Anglo Saxon believers that the
two cultures could be compatible with one another. The character of Beowulf becomes the ultimate
Christian hero, bound to the Anglo Saxon warrior s code yet giving credit and praise to the Christian
God for his victories. It is from this context that the story presents the conflict of good and evil in its
characters, its imagery and its symbolism. In this way the author hopes to inspire faith and belief in
God, demonstrate how God deals with the forces of evil and ultimately how God is the answer to
triumph over evil or adversity. As the hero of the story, Beowulf must be presented as a Godly or even
God like character, redeeming the Danes from the devil and hell itself. In keeping with Anglo Saxon
tradition, Beowulf is a proud, somewhat boastful warrior. He is loyal and honorable, but he seeks fame
and glory on earth rather than in the afterlife, often boasting of his own

Consequences Of European Imperialism
The Consequences of European Imperialism
Imperialism was in its prime from the 1800s all the way up to 1920. France, Netherlands and Great

goal in mind was to dominate with nationalism and social darwinism as their main ideologies. The
biggest results of imperialism was the enormous growth in the European economy, industrialization of
the European and African continent and a growth in nationalism of those who were colonized.
One of the most noticeable effects of imperialism in the 19th and early 20th century was the huge

The Help Movie Vs Book
The Help is a novel written about the southern United States in the 1960 s; a time where whites are
viewed as being superior to African Americans. In the story a white woman, who had a maid of her
own growing up, decides to anonymously write a controversial book about what it s really like to be
an African American woman working for a white family. With the help of numerous African American
maids she is able to complete her book and give many people an insight into what it s like being the

The novel gives a more realistic feel to them, whereas the movie shows them as being much closer
than they really are. In the novel, one of the maids, Minny, works for Ms. Celia Foote, a woman she
deems as crazy. Compared to the other white women that Minny has worked for over the years, Celia
is much more personable towards her and treats Minny as an equal. Ms. Celia even goes as far to say,
You know, I m lucky to have you as a friend Minny. (Stockett 263). Minny feels uncomfortable with
Celia s behavior because it is unheard of in that time. On multiple occasions Celia decides to eat lunch
with Minny which is something that is never done. In the novel Minny expresses her feelings about it
in saying, Every white woman I ve ever worked for ate in the dining room as far away from the
colored help as they could. And that was fine with me. (Stockett 253). Despite all of this, deep down
Minny does care about Ms. Celia but chooses not to show it very often; they also grow closer as they
get to know one another better. On the other hand, the movie takes a different approach in the way it
depicts this relationship. Although at first it shows how uncomfortable Minny feels about her
relationship with Ms. Celia, as the movie goes on she begins to become more accepting of it. Minny
grows used to eating lunch with Celia and is better able to tolerate Ms. Celia s view of them as friends.

Relationship Between Child Abuse and Delinquency
A child is an innocent figure only looking for love and care from those around them. No one can ever
imagine that the lives of children are put in danger everyday. Child abuse is commonly known for
physical marks such as bruises or broken bones. It is obvious that some marks are not from falling off
a bike and those are the signs that appear that something is wrong with the child. According to the
Florida Statue, abuse means any willful act or threatened act that results in any physical, mental, or

They may never understand what a good relationship consists of since all they know is how to be
abusive and controlling over another person. Another effect on children is feeling worthless. Some
believe that name calling should not leave a mark on a person but for young children not knowing any
better or understanding the concept of what is being done to them can make them truly believe
whatever is being said to them. They will believe that they are not smart or pretty and grow up
thinking that they are damaged and are good for nothing. Lastly, abused children tend to have
problems expressing their feelings and regulating their emotions. Some children keep quiet to
themselves and hold all their emotions inside while others may lash out unexpectedly causing them to
become aggressive and harming others. If these emotions are not dealt with right away it will carry on
to their adulthood where they will struggle with issues such as anger and depression which then can

Rhetorical Analysis Of Elle Woods
Elle Woods was the typical sorority girl while at CULA she loved shopping; her friends; and her
boyfriend, Warner. With her father s money on her side, Elle never prioritized her education or
working. She assumed her future held a marriage to Warner and life as a trophy wife; but when
Warner declares Elle a hindrance to his goals of graduating from Harvard University, she becomes
determined to do the same. Realizing no amount of money could buy admission to Harvard, Elle
works valiantly toward her goal and is accepted. As the movie comes to a close, the scene shifts to
three years later with Elle addressing her classmates as she graduates alongside Warner. Though she
does not speak excessively, Elle speaks of the passion, perseverance, and determination necessary for
success. In her short, yet effective speech; Elle uses ethos and pathos to encourage her classmates to
go forth in their law careers with courage and faith, and reminds them to never accept people as they

being a successful attorney. By using this quote, Elle depicts her playful, investigative personality to
her peers, and reminds them of her untraditional experience at the University. Since few thought she

INTRODUCTION:
Analytical Positivism is a school of thought of philosophy of law and jurisprudence, largely developed
by eighteenth and nineteenth century legal thinkers such as Jeremy Bentham, Hans Kelson and John
Austin.
The term Analytical comes from linguistics and logics and the term positivism is coming from
Sociology. It is derived from the word posited which means transfer of ideas by one intelligent being
to another. It was first developed by David Hume.
Analytical positivism is all about surety in logical form and it overprotected the Law.

In applying precedents and in interpreting the law, judges make laws which should also have been
considered.
Laws conferring privileges
The law which is purely of a permissive character and confers only privileges is not covered by Austin
s definition of law. An example can be taken of the Wills Act which lays down the method of drawing
a testamentary document has not been included in Austin s definition.
Conventions
According to Austin s definition, conventions which operate imperatively, though not enforceable by
Court, shall not be called law, although they are law and are a subject matter of syudy in
jurisprudence.
International law
Austin puts International Law under positive morality along with the law of honour and the law of
fashion. According to Austin s definition, a very important branch of law has been excluded from the
study.
Rules set by private persons
According to Austin positive law does not include within itself rules set by private persons in
pursuance of legal rights which is undue extension because their nature is very vague and indefinite.

am detective Kilburn and I have been called to solve it. The suspects we have for Mr. Boddy s death
are Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, and Mrs. White. Today is January 27, 1957 and I live
in the lovely place of London. I started to read the case file about how Mr. Boddy was found and it
was apparently one of his maids that reported it. There just might be a connection. It s the first day of
interrogation. I first brought in Colonel Mustard since Mr. Boddy and him were never know to get
along. He say still and stiff across from me. Okay Mustard, I m going to ask you some basic questions.

Summary Of 1 And 2 Kings By Jeremiah
The books of 1 and 2 Kings were written by Jeremiah who lived around 627 BC. The books were
written with messages of repentance, but these messages were not received well as his hometown
persecuted him. Kings was written to the Israelites trying to explain their fate. The book is more of a
warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to
be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy
and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of
lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter
from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or
the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have
Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. The
Lord told Elijah to walk out of the cave after Elijah presented his worries to God. Elijah quickly
noticed that he could not hear the Lord in the wind or earthquake or fire. Rather, Elijah could hear the
Lord as a whispering sound. Elijah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this use of metaphor can be seen in verse 11 of chapter 19 in 1 Kings, Then the LORD
said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD (1 Kings 19:11). To stand before the LORD
means, not literally to stand, but to lessen yourself in the presence of God. This metaphor means to
serve the Lord, or being a servant of God. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open,
letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. For Elijah this was alluding to him
returning to Damascus and appointing new kings of Israel and Aram. In this passage God is telling
Elijah to trust in Him and have faith, that His plans are above all other

Discover the beauty of Corcovado, Costa Rica s national park
Situated on Costa Rica s southern side of the Osa Peninsula is the Corcovado National Park. It is one
of the most remote rain forests in the country, nevertheless a place of magnificent beauty and
breathtaking vistas. The park is also the habitat to a remarkable variety of trees, endangered plants and
animal species.
Despite the fact that this park is so unique and breathtaking in every aspect, it is also important to
point out that it is located in a very remote region. Visitors to the region have only limited accessibility
to a select number of restaurants and hotels. It is one more reason why Corcovado s trail system is

making his pictures colorful and powerful. The difference is that Guan Zhong Wu uses ink to draw
abstract paintings. Ink is more diluted than oil paint because every time use ink painter need to put
water in it, making his abstract paintings looks more concise and have different feeling. However, as
long as painters understand this kind of painting, different painting tools will achieve different results.
According to Zheng(2008:30 32),in the study of painting, students need to know the history of the
development of painting tools, and the basic knowledge of how to use the painting tools, that will help
them to create their own paintings. In conclusion, it is important for the painter to understand and use

The point and line to plane (Kandinsky 1979:6) is the painting element, such as the letters that make

distinguish the basic elements from the other elements, no artwork does not have these artistic
elements. Therefore, the common feature between Wassily Kandinsky s paintings and Guan Zhong

Lord of the Flies Commentary
Passage Commentary: Lord of the Flies, Pages 109 111 In this passage from Lord of the Flies by
William Golding, the reader gets deep insight into Ralph s mind and how the boys are adapting to life
on the island. Occurring around the middle of the novel, this passage dives into the thoughts of Ralph
to see what he is really feeling about being stranded. It shows how the other boys are coping, and it
demonstrates the two different sides of the island; the reader now sees the dangerous, wild side
representing the savagery of the boys, and the safe, light side representing their innocence. When the

The island has the light and the dark side. This is a symbol for the light and dark side of the boys on
the island. The safe side is described in a happy and hopeful tone using words such as filmy
enchantments, mirage, dream of rescue, and irresistible. But as the reader dives into the other side, one
feels the hope drain out and the author begins to use words such as cold, clipped, hard, and
condemned. The ocean is characterized as having Shining hair, arm of surf, fingers of spray, and rising
with a roar. Here the reader sees how Golding personifies the ocean and one watches as the sea taunts
Ralph, showing the power of nature over man. The emphasis of the dark tone used by the author adds
to the feeling of the passage. The words chosen by Golding were clearly chosen thoughtfully to give
the darkness meaning, layers and depth to the description. As the reader ends the passage, the dark
tone continues with words such as, painful, gripped, and stiff. This dark description leads up to the last
sentence of the passage said by Simon: You ll get back to where you came from. The emphasis of the
quote is clearly on the word you as in the later chapters the reader sees the death of Simon. Simon has
insight into Ralph s thoughts here. The reader can see, with a close read, that Simon has insight into
what Ralph is thinking without Ralph even speaking aloud. Here,

on Walkabouts, they all sing the songs of the Ancestors, and they all have tjurungas that they view as
sacred. Another aspect of their religion is that they have Kirda and Kutungurlu in each tribe. Kirda is
the owner or boss of the land, while Kutungurlu is the manager or helper of the boss (Chatwin, 98).
The reason this binds the different tribes together is because the Kutungurlu has to be from a different
totemic clan and was a nephew of the Kirda on his mother s side (Ferry, 98). This ensures that the
clans communicate and be at peace with each other, as they are interdependent on the other. Another
aspect of their culture that strengthens feelings of community is the abundance of singing and rituals.
The songs of the Aboriginals tell the stories of their Ancestor walking across Australia, and each
Aboriginal owns a certain part of the song, which also acts as their property deeds. Whenever the
elders decided to sing the whole song, they send word so that all the Aboriginals of that clan gather

The most collectively celebrated holiday of the year is undeniably December 25th, Christmas. Most
people acknowledge that the Christ in Christmas is representative of Jesus Christ, Son of God, and for
Christians, the day is set aside as a celebration of his birth. Many people in the United States (and
world) however, either do not believe in the Christian view of Christmas, have different non Christian
religious beliefs or celebrate for other reasons, if at all. Because of the multi cultural differences that
incorporate our country, Christmas should be declared by Congress as simply a Federal Holiday. This
would be achieved if the dominant Christ aspect from Christ mas was removed by renaming the

Many secular traditions have been incorporated in America over the last 140 years including tree
decorating, exchanging cards and gifts, non religious Christmas songs, Santa Claus, twinkling lights,
among many other traditions. Some of these traditions were expanded from religious traditions for
example; gift giving is based on the belief that The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus in the
manger. However commercialism has long owned this tradition and in fact, it has been widely
recognized that Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are necessary for getting the economy moving and
out of the red hence; Black Friday, the first day of the holiday shopping season. It is also true that
President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November in order to
extend the holiday shopping season for precisely this purpose.
Congress declared December 25th a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. President Ulysses S.
Grant signed the bill to enact Christmas along with 3 other holidays: New Year s, July 4th and
Thanksgiving as public holidays. Many people however believe that including Christmas with these
secular holidays was an error because back then Christmas only meant the celebration of Jesus birth,
which is construed by many as a conflict of the separation of church and state. The First Amendment
of our Constitution clearly states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of

I hope to find the concentration of a solution where the chip stays the same mass and length, which
will tell me that the water potential inside the cells is the same as the water potential outside the cells.

I will measure the length and cross sectional area for each chip.
o Time the chip is left in the solution I think that if I were to leave the chips in the solution for only a
small amount of time there might not be sufficient time for the osmosis to occur, so that the chips
would not differ in size enough for conclusive results. Therefore, I will need to give a good amount of
time for the osmosis to occur.
o Temperature I believe that all reactions happen quicker when there is a higher temperature, so
diffusion across the membrane may be faster at higher temperature.
o Concentration of sucrose solution I think that the lower the concentration of the external sucrose
solution, the more the chip will expand (because the cells become turgid).
o Total Volume of sucrose solution I think that changing the volume of sucrose solution may affect the
results of my investigation.
Variable I will change:
I will change the concentration of sucrose solution in my experiment, because I believe the results of
that experiment will tell me the water potential of the potato cells.

I will carry out all my experiments at the same temperature, 20°C, because that is room temperature,
and I will not have to heat up anything. I will cut my chips to the same dimensions every time, using a

Daniel Katz Case
Subsections (a)(1), (a)(2), (b)(4), (b)(5), and (d) of ET § 17 113, all illustrate that an agent s primary
obligation to a principal under a power of attorney is to act in the best interest of the principal, i.e.,
Daniel Katz. Id. Were this a motion for summary judgment Martin would easily show that he has
acted constant with his obligations under ET § 17 113, but such is not the question here. Rather, the
material question in this matter is whether plaintiffs have pleaded facts sufficient to show that Martin
has acted inconsistent with his duties under ET § 17 113.
In paragraphs 35, 36, 37, and 42, plaintiffs provide an exhaustive list of demands that Lauren and
Rifkin feel are owed to them from Daniel s assets. These self serving and frankly, quite concerning
assertions fundamentally misapprehend the nature of the fiduciary relationship at issue here. In this
matter, Martin owes no duties to Lauren or Rifkin. Rather, pursuant to the power of attorney, Martin
only owes fiduciary obligations to Daniel to provide for his best interest, as Daniel and no one else is
the principal. Indeed, plaintiffs complaint is full of allegations ... Show more content on

Alternative ending to Crime and Punishment
During the semester we have read three very influential works: Fathers and Children by Ivan
Turgenev, What is to be done? by Nikolay Chernyshevsky, and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor
Dostoevsky. All of these novels are tied together with similar ideas. However, authors interpret them
in different ways. One of the biggest ideas is about Extraordinary Man Theory . Chernyshevsky, in his
novel, tries to show that ideal world consists of communities and each community should have
ordinary folks, servile group, and extraordinary men, leaders of the community who have all the

everyone in the novel received the deserved punishment assigned either by the law or by fate.

The Fabian strategy, also known as strategic defense, is a military strategy in which a weaker force
avoids decisive battles with the enemy and creates delay in a war of attrition until the right moment

A Separate Peace Literary Analysis
History is said to repeat itself after great amounts of time, but could two major world events that
happened just a mere three years from each other be so similar? A Separate Peace, by John Knowles,
chronicles the story of two teenage boys, Finny and Gene, at a private school in New England during
World War II. Their entire school life is centered around preparing for the war, but rebellious Finny
has other ideas for himself and Gene. Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck involves two migrant
workers during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression who are facing the struggles of dealing with
Lennie s disability. These two books may not seem similar in plot, but thematically they share several
aspects. In both novels, it can be seen that tragic events cause certain characters to seek a safe place
and satisfaction. For instance, Finny, from A Separate Peace, can be observed looking for a safe place

Benefits Of A Good Credit Score
Having a good credit score is one of the best matters one can involve themselves in. Good credit can
ensure that one are able to pay for just about anything. From a new car to somebody s first house, it
can make or ruin anyone. Due to the importance of good credit, students frequently take advantage of
their college years as a valuable chance to glimpse into adulthood by beginning their steps toward
increasing that score. Considering the rising costs of tuition and the steep price of textbooks, it is not
uncommon to be incapable of paying for everything immediately. That is where credit comes it.
Credit score is a simple concept. It s a number that represents how often a person pays off debts they
owe from using a credit card. A credit card (different an a debit card), does not take money from its
owner. Instead, the owner is borrowing money it. At the end of the month, people receive bills from
everywhere they owe money. If people can pay them all off, their credit score will rise as a result. On
the other hand, if they fail to pay, that number drops. Once a payment is missed, a person s credit
score will receive a blow that will often be very troublesome to overcome. The higher the credit score
is, the more trustworthy people come across are to salespeople. 800 is a perfect credit score, and what
people strive towards. The college years are a perfect time to establish credit, as it is the first time in
their life where students realize that they will eventually need

Chesapeake Bay Research Paper
Waterways are a crucial part of transportation, food and income for many people. The Chesapeake
Bay provides hundreds of people with jobs, habitats for a wide variety of animals and transportation
for goods. Since John Smith sailed to America and upon entering the Bay said Within is a country that
may have the prerogative over the most pleasant places known, for large and pleasant navigable rivers,
heaven and earth never agreed better to frame a place for man s habitation (John Smith) the Bay has
been an integral part of life in the United States. Recently overfishing, invasive species and runoff
have led to the declining health of the Bay. Sustainable solutions should and are being implemented to
ensure the long lasting health of the Chesapeake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smart planning and using green technologies can reduce the impact that urbanization and growing
populations puts on the Bay. Pervious paving surfaces reduce the amount of runoff going into the Bay.
There are many benefits to using pervious concrete, these benefits are achieved with the use of an
innovative design. Pervious pavement, also referred to as porous or permeable pavement, is actually a
system consisting of an open graded surface layer of concrete, asphalt, or pavers, typically placed over
an open graded aggregate base layer. The pavement structure has a large percentage of void spaces
allowing water to permeate through the surface and base at a rate comparable to that of a grass lawn
(Broviak). Strict stormwater control measures have recently been passed in states surrounding the
Chesapeake s watershed, including Maryland, and many require a certain amount of green space or
use of green technologies in construction. In addition to the growing use of pervious pavement
techniques, other types of stormwater management techniques are gaining popularity. In a thesis paper
from University of Maryland, Wilson discusses alternative ways to engineer for the Bay; By using
technologies such as cisterns, green roofs, and constructed wetlands, the built environment can be
designed to decrease our need for expensive water purifying infrastructure and preserve the health of
fragile estuary ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay. Rain gardens are a viable alternative to storm
drains to deal with runoff from impervious areas. A rain garden captures water that would usually run
into a storm drain and eventually be discharged into a river and allows it to infiltrate into the ground
and for evapotranspiration to occur. In a study done to evaluate how effective rain gardens are at
capturing and reducing runoff results were

Defining Your Business The first step in developing an effective MBO program is to define your
business. Ask yourself the following questions: ! ! ! What business am I in? Is my definition right for
today s market? Do I need to change my business to meet emerging customer needs?
A clear vision of your business is crucial for planning your marketing, product development, buildings
and equipment, and financial and staff needs. For example, a drop in sales caused a small business
manufacturer of metal trash cans to reexamine its product. To regain lost sales, the owner decided to
redefine the product as metal containers and to develop a new marketing plan.
Setting Goals
Long range business goals will be the cornerstone of your company s MBO program. To achieve
these goals, you must have a method to communicate them to your managers and employees. One way
is to bring managers and employees into the process by asking them to help formulate the company s
short and long range goals. If they have a role in establishing the goals, they will be more committed
to achieving them. All goals should relate to and support the long range objectives for the company. In
this way, you can ensure that the goals of all levels of management are consistent. If goals are
incompatible, you may find that employees feel like the middle manager of a research and
development company who exclaimed in a seminar, How can I set my goals when I don

The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The...
History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be
blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United
States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of
genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can consider
the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has. Considering the UN
definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide. There are multiple similarities
between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US, Australia, and German Southwest
Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in the case of British India, it doesn t align.
Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone, Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A
People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I will articulate arguments about the genocides
found in each case.
In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and
showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other diseases,
which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease in Indian
population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand. Although the
spread of disease was not the settlers intent, it is arguably a factor in the success of

Macbeth Newspaper Article
Inverness Castle, the Macbeth residence on Friday Evening Breaking news, the honorable King
Duncan of Scotland was found dead in his sleep with multiple stab wounds to the chest. Watchmen
have yet to identify who committed such a horrendous felony. The locals of Scotland are in utter shock
and awe of the tragic events that took place last night. The great lands of Scotland are still with the
breaths of the helpless citizens that don t know what to do now that the king is dead. As loyal citizens
they all want the death of the king to be avenged. As of this morning, at approximately 6:05 A.M.,
there still aren t many actions taken place to bring this death to justice, but there is a small group of
frenemies gathered at the Macbeth s castle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They all just looked at each other not knowing what to do with themselves. After what just happen,
not many people would know what to do with themselves. The time was now 7:20 A.M. and they all
began to walk out of the castle in distress and all of Scotland was waiting to hail Macbeth as the new
king of Scotland, as they had already known that King Duncan was dead. Little did they know the
events that occurred right behind those large, gated doors. Each of them walked out, Macbeth walking
out first, with his wife by his side, Macduff following, then Banquo, and then Angus. The crowds eyes
were wondering, where is Ross?, Why are there only five royal subjects, and not six? The five that did
remain knew that Ross was killed inside of that castle. The crowd swarmed Macbeth and the others
asking them where is Ross? What happened in there? All of them were to flustered to answer any
questions regarding what happened in that dungeon. Minutes had gone by of this, and all of a sudden
Lady Macbeth yelled out that Ross is dead, and no one knows what happened because it was dark,
anything could ve happened in there! We don t know if one of them killed him in that room or he
killed himself! The crowd was stunned, taken aback by the dreadful news that Lady Macbeth just
uttered. There were reporters every ready with questions to ask each and every one of them. On one
side there was Macduff struggling to get the words out of his mouth to answer the question, then there
was Banquo about to pass out from the pain in his thigh, and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth telling
everyone to back away, and leave them be during these tough times in Scotland. No other information
was reported but it seemed the five still alive were taken by the authorities, but Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth were taken to Scone to crowned as

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Early Birthday Early Birthday Present It was a beautiful morning on July 5th, 2015. Outside the birds were chirping and the sun was beaming through my window. I had just woken up as both of my parents came into my room, and told me to come downstairs for a surprise. In my mind, I thought something had arrived from Amazon and they decided to give it to me now as an early birthday present. After lying in bed for a little while on my phone, I decided to get up. I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and went downstairs to see what this was all about. Right when I turned the corner into the kitchen, I saw a poster board that said SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! on it. • 6. The Diary Of A Teenage Girl The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young s girl s exploration of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ on delivery due to their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie s life as her and the other characters are portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un barred novel. Rather than touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film smooths over many of the more intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself, which is fundamentally different than what the book intended. The Diary of a Teenage Girl is based on the popular graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well as directed by Marielle Heller. They follow the life of Minnie (Bew Powley), who is 15 years old, in San Franciso in the year 1976. She lives with her single mother (Kristin Wiig) and younger sister. Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard), is her mother s 35 year old boyfriend, and the two of them carry on a secret sexual relationship. In the book, the text speaks for Minnie in ways that she cannot speak for herself which leaves the reader to fill in the gaps; however, viewers get no sense of this in the film, where what happens is taken at surface value. Ethical Problems Of The Military Logistics System As far back as 1775 and most likely before that ethical problems have plagued the military logistics system, to include contracting of logistical support. Throughout our history, whenever there was a mobilization to support a conflict there was a good possibility that there would be some amount of fraud, waste or abuse introduced into the logistical system. (Huston, 1997) This paper will discuss some the different types of fraud, waste or abuse that can occur. It will also cover some recent cases from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan where military, contractors or both have worked to defraud the government and will conclude with some things that can be done to fight fraud in the future. Though logistics and contracting are elements of the military organization, the contracting out of logistical support is an area that is rife for lax ethics. During the solicitation phase the contracting officer may try to structure the contract so that only one contractor is capable of fulfilling it. This is done through making the technical specifications or terms of the contract so specific that only one bidder is able to meet the terms. • 15. The Merging of Cultures in Beowulf The story of Beowulf represents the merging of two cultural belief systems: paganism and Christianity. Historically, the Anglo Saxon culture was based upon pagan practices idolatry, worship of many Gods and a specific warrior s code of conduct. Beowulf was born of this culture as a legend passed down through centuries by oral tradition until shortly after their conversion to Christianity. It was finally preserved in written form by an obviously Christian author in an attempt to unify the two belief systems, and in doing so hopefully further convincing the new Anglo Saxon believers that the two cultures could be compatible with one another. The character of Beowulf becomes the ultimate Christian hero, bound to the Anglo Saxon warrior s code yet giving credit and praise to the Christian God for his victories. It is from this context that the story presents the conflict of good and evil in its characters, its imagery and its symbolism. In this way the author hopes to inspire faith and belief in God, demonstrate how God deals with the forces of evil and ultimately how God is the answer to triumph over evil or adversity. As the hero of the story, Beowulf must be presented as a Godly or even God like character, redeeming the Danes from the devil and hell itself. The book is more of a warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open, letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. They all go on Walkabouts, they all sing the songs of the Ancestors, and they all have tjurungas that they view as sacred. Another aspect of their religion is that they have Kirda and Kutungurlu in each tribe. Kirda is the owner or boss of the land, while Kutungurlu is the manager or helper of the boss (Chatwin, 98). The reason this binds the different tribes together is because the Kutungurlu has to be from a different totemic clan and was a nephew of the Kirda on his mother s side (Ferry, 98). This ensures that the clans communicate and be at peace with each other, as they are interdependent on the other. Another aspect of their culture that strengthens feelings of community is the abundance of singing and rituals. In a thesis paper from University of Maryland, Wilson discusses alternative ways to engineer for the Bay; By using technologies such as cisterns, green roofs, and constructed wetlands, the built environment can be designed to decrease our need for expensive water purifying infrastructure and preserve the health of fragile estuary ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay. Rain gardens are a viable alternative to storm drains to deal with runoff from impervious areas. A rain garden captures water that would usually run into a storm drain and eventually be discharged into a river and allows it to infiltrate into the ground and for evapotranspiration to occur. In a study done to evaluate how effective rain gardens are at capturing and reducing runoff results were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ! ! ! Defining Your Business The first step in developing an effective MBO program is to define your business. Ask yourself the following questions: ! ! ! What business am I in? Is my definition right for today s market? Do I need to change my business to meet emerging customer needs? A clear vision of your business is crucial for planning your marketing, product development, buildings and equipment, and financial and staff needs. For example, a drop in sales caused a small business manufacturer of metal trash cans to reexamine its product. To regain lost sales, the owner decided to redefine the product as metal containers and to develop a new marketing plan. Setting Goals Long range business goals will be the cornerstone of your company s MBO program. To achieve these goals, you must have a method to communicate them to your managers and employees. One way is to bring managers and employees into the process by asking them to help formulate the company s short and long range goals. • 47. The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The... History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can consider the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has. Considering the UN definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide. There are multiple similarities between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US, Australia, and German Southwest Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in the case of British India, it doesn t align. Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone, Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I will articulate arguments about the genocides found in each case. In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other diseases, which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease in Indian population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand. Although the spread of disease was not the settlers intent, it is arguably a factor in the success of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
