Explain The Main Organs In The Urinary System
The main organs in the urinary system for mammals are the kidneys, which filter blood and produce
urine. The other organs such as the ureters, urinary bladder and the urethra are simply accessory
structures that help in the transport and storage of urine.
The kidneys of mammals are round, bean shaped organs. These kidneys are located at the posterior
end of the abdomen and outside of the peritoneum, which is the membrane that encloses the organs of
the abdominal cavity. The indentation found on the bean shaped part of the kidney is called the hilum,
this is where the renal artery enters the kidney and where both the renal vein and ureter exit. The
kidney is also divided into 2 regions, which is the outer cortex and the inner medulla. In the cortex,
this is where blood is filtered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also where more water and electrolytes are absorbed. From here, the filtrate is passed through the
distal convoluted tubule, where excess potassium ions, hydrogen ions and toxins are passed from the
blood into the filtrate. The end product is dumped into a large collecting duct, which then leads to the
papillae of pyramids, through the calyxes, and into the renal pelvis to be excreted through the ureters.
From the ureters, urine is passed down to the urinary bladder. The outer surface of the urinary bladder
is covered with fibrous connective tissue. Inside the connective tissue is a muscular layer called the
detrusor muscle. This smooth muscle contracts to expel urine from the bladder. The next tissue layer,
the submucosa, is an elastic fibrous membrane that supports the mucosa, which lines the inside of the
bladder. The opening of the urethra is surrounded by a band of detrusor muscle, forming an internal
urethral sphincter. This sphincter is relaxed by involuntary muscle control, and is innervated in a way
that when the bladder is approximately half full, the animal will recognize the urge to urinate. The last
passageway for urine is through the

Public Humiliation As A Deterrent Against Future Crimes
Public humiliation can be extremely effective and valuable for improvement in discipline and serves
as a deterrent against future crimes. Public shaming has been employed since the beginning of time
and is practiced worldwide. Throughout history, the advantage of the practice of public humiliation
was exploited by early civilization for the prime and propitious results. In Ancient Rome, public
humiliation was frequently utilized during crucifixion, when a person was killed for a sin. Crucifixion
was as defined by Dr. Dan Hayden, the most humiliating and degrading form of public death ever
devised. (Hayden, Hung On a Tree ). The method of crucifixion was not only shameful for the one
being punished but also was as an incentive for the public. It served as a reminder to avoid committing
a sin. In the Middle East, nations such as Iran and Afghanistan, authorities... amputated the hands of a
convicted thief in front of other prisoners... (Associated Press, Iran Cuts Off Man s Hand For Stealing
). The purpose of this form of public humiliation serves similar to the motives of the crucifixion.
These are just two of the countless historical records that assert the usage of public humiliation for
stabilization within the society. It was constantly used in the former times and is still used in the
modern era. The effectiveness of this form of discipline was and is still witnessed by numerous
individuals. The form of discipline portrayed by public humiliation persuades and serves as

Comparison Of Paranoia In Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy And 1984
Alfredson s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Orwell s 1984 both illustrate atmospheres of paranoia
through imagery, fear of losing relationships and setting. Through these illustrations both creators
generate tension and fear throughout their characters actions and lives, causing the tension to build up
within the audience as they experience the paranoia throughout the texts.
Alfredson s and Orwell s texts Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and 1984 both portray atmospheres of
paranoia through visual imagery and visual elements. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy s opening scene which
commences with the distinct footsteps, quiet music and the creaking of the door as it opens emphasise
the paranoia within the atmosphere as Prideaux and Control meet. The scene starts in darkness and
gradually becomes brighter, music further amplifies the paranoia by carrying the music from darkness
to the opening of the door ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the door opens the darkness of Control s face, highlighted by the light from within the room,

illustrates O Brien s heavy face, bent down so that one could see the line of the nose and his stature
which towered over the pair of them emphasising his powerful physique which strikes fear into
Winston as the already present terror amplifies. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy uses a panning shot to
shows the paranoid Guillam as he rushes to place his documents back into his bag after taking it from

Hip Hop History
Hip hop or hip hop is a subculture and art movement developed in South Bronx in New York City
during the late 1970s.[1][2][3][4][5] While people unfamiliar with Hip Hop culture often use the
expression hip hop to refer exclusively to hip hop music (also called rap ),[6] Hip Hop is characterized
by nine distinct elements or expressive realms, of which Hip Hop music is only four elements
(rapping, djaying, beatboxing and breaking). Afrika Bambaataa of the Hip Hop collective Zulu Nation
outlined the pillars of Hip Hip culture, coining the terms: rapping (also called MCing or emceeing), a
rhythmic vocal rhyming style (orality); DJing (and turntablism), which is making music with record
players and DJ mixers (aural/sound and music creation); ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Members of the scene plugged in the amplifiers for their instruments and PA speakers into the
lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue and used their live music events to break down racial
barriers between African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Whites and other ethnic groups. Jamaican
immigrant DJ Kool Herc also played a key role in developing Hip Hop music. At 1520 Sedgwick
Avenue, Herc mixed samples of existing records and deejayed percussion breaks , mixing this music
with his own Jamaican style toasting (a style of chanting and boastful talking over a microphone) to
rev up the crowd and dancers. Kool Herc is credited as the father of Hip Hop for developing the key
DJ techniques that, along with rapping, founded the hip hop music style by creating rhythmic beats by
looping breaks (small portions of songs emphasizing a percussive pattern) on two turntables. This was
later accompanied by rapping or MCing , a rhythmic style of chanting or speaking poetry/lyrics, and
beatboxing, a percussive vocal technique used to create beats to go along with an MC or rappers
rhymes.[citation needed] An original form of dancing called breakdancing, which later became
accompanied by popping, locking and other dance moves, which was done to the accompaniment of
hip hop songs played on boom boxes and particular styles of hip hop dress and hair also

Shark Finning Should Stop The Sharks
Shark finning should stop. Shark poaching or finning has been going on for a while to make a dish
called shark fin soup . People who eat that most likely don t know what happens to make it. Poachers
catch the sharks, and put them on their boats and hold them down while they cut all of their fins off.
The worst part is once they re done, they drop them back into the water and make them suffer as they
lose tons of blood, and later suffocate or be eaten by other animals. It makes me feel sorry for all of
those sharks that went through this, and some people might say that poaching is justified for sharks
because they kill people, but what they don t understand is that they are animals, and it is just instinct.
You don t blame cats for killing birds do you? They are known for killing. Movies have put that
straight. That s why I want to help stop this inhumane act on poor innocent creatures that don t even
know that they are doing something that is considered wrong . Remember, 10 people a year are killed
by sharks, but 3 sharks are killed every second by humans. (Stop Shark Finning.Net no specific
author). Sharks are being murdered every second for the result of shark fin soup. Sharks don t deserve
this. It is torture for them, and all we want out of this painful experience is soup. Why do they need to
kill so many? Well, apparently the requests for shark fin soup is growing. But, I believe the demand
for the shark population to survive should be bigger. People say that shark

The Evolution of Photography Essay
When going for a walk, a person takes in the beauty around them. On this particular day, the refulgent
sun is extra bright, making the sky a perfect blue. White, puffy clouds fill the sky, slowing moving at
their own pace. The wind is peacefully calm, making the trees stand tall and proud. There is no
humidity in the air. As this person walks down the road, they see a deer with her two fawns. The
moment is absolutely beautiful. Moments like this happen only once in a great while, making us

In 1888, George Eastman made the first light and portable camera under the company name Kodak
(Graham 28). These cameras gave people the ability to take a photo almost anywhere. The cameras
had to be sent back to the factory so the photographs could be printed. Twenty years after Kodak s first
camera, they produced an improved camera, called Brownie . The Brownie was simple to use, making
the art of photography boom. Flash cameras did not appear until the 1930s, letting people take pictures
in areas with dim or little lighting. In 1947, Edwin Land invented the instant camera. Land got the idea
after his daughter asked to see her picture after he took her photo. The next step in improving the
camera was by making it digital, which was done in 1975 by a Kodak employee. As the camera gets
smaller and simpler to use, the quality of the photographs it produces gets better. Photographs are
created from light rays bouncing off objects. When a person looks through the viewfinder, the image
they see are light rays reflected from a penta prism, a specially shaped piece of glass inside the
camera. The rays from the penta prism came from a mirror, which reflected the rays it received from
the lenses. Lenses are used to focus in or out on objects. They attain the rays from the object reflecting
the rays toward the camera. For an image to be captured on a film camera, the button used to take

Private Key Infrastructure Advantages And Disadvantages
Q1:
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a popular encryption and authentication approach used by both
small businesses and large enterprises for exchanging information based on, it make securely
exchange data over networks such as the Internet and verify the identity of the other party. The
foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that authenticate
the identity of organizations and individuals over a public system such as the Internet, and the
certificates also used to sign messages, ensures messages are not been tampered.
There are Components for the PKI or Public Key Infrastructure. Below there are the components and

Symmetric encryption is also known as private key encryption and secure key encryption.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SYMMETRIC encryption
ADVANTAGES
๏€ช๏€ A symmetric Encryption is faster.
๏€ช๏€ In Symmetric Encryption, encrypted data can be transferred on the link even if there is a
possibility that the data will be intercepted. Since there is no key transmiited with the data, the chances
of data being decrypted are null.
๏€ช๏€ A symmetric Encryption uses password authentication to prove the receiver s identity.
๏€ชA system only which possesses the secret key can decrypt a message.
DISADVANTAGES

Statement Of IKEA Management Trainee Program
Hej,
My mentor, Erik Thun, a co worker at IKEA, made me aware of the IKEA Management Trainee
Program. Based on our discussions within the mentoring program he believes my background and
personality would be a good fit for a future position as leader at IKEA. Since I plan to finish my
Master degree in business process and supply chain management in June I believe IKEA s
management trainee program is a very interesting opportunity to develop my professional career.
One of the most important skills I improved during my master studies at Linnaeus University is to
work together in international teams. Being able to adapt to different culture has proven to be very
important and developed me in many ways. Within various student projects that were carried out in a
group, I have been able to use my leadership skills to increase the group s success.
Before I came to Sweden, I completed a Bachelor s degree in Business Information Systems with a
specialization in Application Management from Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in
Mannheim, Germany. The combination of business and technology is ... Show more content on

situations for example can be when the children (around 200) meet at the first day and are forming

situations many questions arose and it was important to oversee the situations very well and be

The Impossibility Of Perfection In Hawthorne s The...
Throughout Hawthorne s The Birthmark , the impossibility of perfection in this world, and yet how
close to perfection Georgiana is, is a recurring theme, especially in this passage. There is no way to be
human and yet so perfect in such an imperfect world. Therefore, she is an angel, sent down from the
heavens to find a pure human who could love not for beauty, but unconditionally, and prove the worth
of humanity. It is impossible to be truly perfect on this world, and human lives are finite. It is the fatal
flaw of humanity. Here it is made clear that Georgiana is more than human, for she is described as
being almost absolutely perfect, if it were not for the mark on her cheek. A mark, which Aylmer might
have felt his affection heightened by the prettiness of this mimic hand, stating that even her fatal flaw
is beautiful. If she were human, she could not be so perfect. Before Aylmer became obsessed with her
birthmark, she was extremely happy. She loved everything, and found beauty in most everything as
well. No human can truly be so optimistic, no matter how they may seem. However, once Aylmer
started to shame her and tear down her self esteem over the small mark on her cheek, which could
have been beautiful, Georgiana became depressed. Despite this, she still tried to see the beauty in
everything, looking through the eyes of an angel at a world she only knew from afar. Aylmer is afraid
of Georgiana s birthmark in this passage, and of what it symbolizes. He sees it

Economic Equality Between The Social Classes Of The Great...
There should be greater economic equality between the social classes of the great United States of
America. While there is no agreement of a full blown communist or socialist revolution, a la Karl
Marx, there is agreement that there should be slight changes towards this idea of equality. According
to the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, a social contract (theory) is the view that persons moral
and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the
society in which they live (Friend). The current American contract is debatable, and the exact
definition depends on each person individually. Similar to Hobbes and Rousseau alike, Daniel
Mallock on American Thinker believes that the social contract ... Show more content on

Economic inequality is a multifaceted, idea that breaks down into unequal distributions of income,
pay, and wealth. Of course, each individual definition is the inequality of distribution of each concept,
respectively ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). Income is the money received from nearly
everything a person is a part of: investments, bonds, stocks, property, wages, salary, pension, rent,
payment, etc. ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). By definition, those with less of these
investments and earnings are at a disadvantage than those with more. Normal class citizens do not
own thousands and thousands of stocks, large houses and yachts, nor do they receive these large
wages similar to the wealthy. Nonetheless, while this seems like a tiresome argument, the cries are
valid. The Scientific American states that, The top 20% of US households own more than 84% of the
wealth, and the bottom 40% combine for a paltry 0.3%. The Walton family, for example, has more
wealth than 42% of American families combined (Fitz). This notion relates to not only a small fraction
of economic inequality, but to a major gap between those that supposedly have it better. Pay refers to
the payment from employment only ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). This area is seemingly
easier to work with the idea of equality, for a job/career usually relies on skills alone. Usually is a key
word only due to the fact that networking and knowing the right people can

Has Australian Law Adequately Protect the Health of...
Has Australian law adequately protect the health of indigenous people?
Contemporary issue
The issue appeared in The Australian newspaper in January 2007 which discussed about the
indigenous health. There is no exact statistics that really measure aborigines health as only about 72%
of them were included in the surveys. The issue is able to make us think on actions that could be made
in order to protect the health rights of the indigenous Australian. It seems to be impossible for the
responsible authorities to address this problem effectively when there is lack of efficiency in gathering
data.

In 1962, Electoral Act (Section 41) was amended to give those Aborigines their right to vote.
Furthermore, in order to reduce racial discrimination towards indigenous community, 1967
Referendum was hold in which Section 51(xxvi) was amended and Section 127 was repealed (Bailey
2008). 1967 has become the landmark as indigenous affair became a concurrent power shared between
the Commonwealth and the states (Bailey 2008; Freehollows 2003). Besides, they are also included in
the census after 1967 and were given the same rights as other Australians and enjoy the same rights.
(History of the Aborigines n.d.; Freehollows 2003).
However, although their rights were recognised starting from 1900s, some argue that it is insufficient
as Australia does not has a Bill of Rights and the Constitution is not a document which focus on
human rights (Bailey 2008; Owen 2010). Despites of the claims, there is no need for the Australian
government to have a Bill of Right as the third element of Rule of Law already ensures the protection
of human rights and natural justice. Plus, having a Bill of Rights means that it will be likely subjected
to High Court s interpretation and will not guarantee protection of human rights.

M.C. Escher Essay
M.C. Escher occupies a unique spot among the most popular artists of the past century. While his
contemporaries focused on breaking from traditional art and its emphasis on realism and beauty,
Escher found his muse in symmetry and infinity. His attachment to geometric forms made him one of
modernism s most recognizable artists and his work remains as relevant as ever.
Escher s early works are an odd mix of cubism and traditional woodcut. From these beginnings, one
could already note Escher s fondness for repetition and clean shapes. While simple and exploratory,
these works were the signs of a nascent art career.
Beginning in the mid 1930s, Escher s work turned very pointedly to the style we associate with him
today. Some of his most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something that recurs references itself. The reflection in a mirror of a mirror is recursive: the reflected
mirror is reflecting its own image and doing so indefinitely. You ve also likely seen the Droste effect
when using camcorders hooked up to a TV or a computer: when the camcorder is looking at the
screen, you can see an infinite series of screens generate themselves, since the camcorder is recording
the same image that it s sending to the screen. The game Portal is a great example of recursion, when
two portals could be opened side by side in a narrow space and looking in either one produced an
infinite series of the same image.
Escher combined recursion and pattern repetition in a unique way. Some of the works featuring this
combination exhibits some complex mathematical and physical ideas, but to the casual viewer the
works are sublime. The swans image above features this sort of combination. Note that the swans are
tiled very precisely, with the same distance from adjacent swans and swans in the next row. Note also
that they are in a closed loop, which is one construct made possible with recursion.
The above image is an example of the Mandelbrot set. The Mandelbrot set, along with other sets, is an
example of a fractal. Fractals are fundamentally based on the idea of infinite recursion. If you zoom in
to a particular spot in the fractal, you ll perhaps see a different arrangement of patterns, but you would

Pros And Cons Of Oral History
Oral history has been a vital source of historical and important information since the beginning of
human interaction. Recordings and one on one interviews with someone who lived through a certain
time period or particular event can often provide a substantial amount of information and evidences on
a subject that one may be researching. Unfortunately oral history does has its flaws, and it does not
always provide the best source of information. Often information from direct interviews and other
forms of oral history can be misinterpreted and inaccurate. There are quite a few pros and cons when
using oral history as a source of evidence. These pros includes first hand accounts of a certain event,
person, and/or time period, next access to information not available in books, articles, or journals, and
finally oral history allows for different views and opinions on a subject matter the opportunity to be
heard that otherwise wouldn t. There also are several cons when using oral history as a source of
evidence. As mention earlier information from oral history can and has often been misinterpreted and
inaccurate. Another con includes biases and ideology differences effecting personal accounts of an
event or person. The final con is the creditability of the actually source. In the Hochschild book and
the interview with Stalin s daughter, these pros and cons are present. Having a first hand account of a
historical event or person can be extremely useful. Someone from a

Pathos In Bowling For Columbine
Bowling for Columbine is a documentary directed by American filmmaker and activist, Michael
Moore. The political documentary focuses on the 1999 school shootings that occurred in Columbine,
Colorado, and Flint, Michigan and the correlation of guns to the high homicide rates in America.
Moore argues that the number one problem the United States faces is gun control. Moore effectively
uses ethos, pathos, and logos appeals to present an unbiased and informational view of the issue of
gun violence in America. He also uses the fallacious argumentative strategy, ad hominem. Moore does
not put his own direct bias into the film, he instead shows both sides of the argument to allow the
viewer to decide for themselves which side they are on.
In the film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His argument is stronger if the audience has an emotional connection to the events involving gun
violence. Along with statistics and facts, Moore shows sounds and images that elicits sympathy in an
attempt to persuade them to his cause. The most effective example of this is when he shows camera
footage from the Columbine Shooting with the 911 call from the scene in the background. He also
shows testimony from concerned citizens from several shooting incidents, such as the Buell
Elementary School where a first grader killed another with a gun. The graphic images shown are heart
wrenching and evokes empathy from the viewers.
To contrast his emotional appeals, Moore uses logos strategically in this film. Throughout the entire
documentary, Moore travels around and interviews people about their opinions on guns. He also asks
if they believe that everyone should have access to guns and why America is one the most dangerous
countries in the world when it comes to gun violence. The whole film consists of Moore s dialogue
with common Americans, which allows the viewers to hear what other people think, not just

Final Reflection For Research Paper
Final Reflection Sandy Wisneski
Technology is often used for the wrong reasons in the classroom. Teachers find a new idea and jump
on the technology band wagon without considering if this is the best use for the digital tool. When
planning lessons using technology, consideration needs to made as to how the tool will enhance the
lesson or will it just be an added feature.
I love the challenge of new technology and am always on the lookout for ways to engage students in
my classroom. I do have a strong background with technology but found new tidbits to add to my
repertoire when using the Google Apps. Since most of my information was gained through my own
investigation, it was helpful to dig deeper into what Google offers. When integrating any new
applications into the classroom, digital citizenship is an essential building block. Students need to
respect technology and connecting with others the same way we do face to face. This is critical when
working collaboratively in a Google doc or slideshow. Netiquette needs to be modeled and taught. I

The Black Flower Chapter Summary
The Black Flower The Black Flower was written by Howard Bahr and published in June in the year of
1997. Howard Bahr, a native of Oxford, Mississippi, teaches English at Motlow State Community
College in Tennessee. He has written many short stories, essays, and articles, many of which deal with
the American Civil War.
The Black Flower is a novel of the American Civil War, which tells the story of three confederate
soldiers. The story begins with Bushrod Carter, a twenty six year old soldier from Mississippi,
dreaming that it is snowing and that the ground is covered in hoe cakes drenched in molasses. Bushrod
then pulls away from his ranks to eat a hoe cake off of the ground, but before he can take his first bite
he is awakened by General Patrick Cleburne. General Patrick Cleburne continues to wake up the rest
of Bushrod s sleeping colleagues, including Jack Bishop and Virgil C. Johnson. Bushrod and his
colleagues prepare to fight a significant battle in Franklin, Tennessee. The troops arrive at the
McGavock house, a two story brick house located in Franklin, Tennessee. Within the McGavock
house lives John and Caroline McGavock, their children Winder and Hattie, and their cousin Anna
Hereford. Anna is a twenty four year old unmarried woman who had been sent by her father to help
Caroline care for the children.
A scout approaches the McGavock house to ask John McGavock if the Confederate Army may use his
house as a base while the Battle of Franklin wages on. This means that the McGavock house will now
be filled with dead, dying, and injured soldiers whom John and his family must care for as best as they
can. The main caretakers of the soldiers at the McGavock house are Caroline, Anna, and occasionally
the children. Along with the McGavocks there are also officers and others to help, including two
surgeons.
Before the battle even begins, Virgil C. Johnson is accidentally shot in the back of the head by Nebo

What physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the...
In the criminal justice system, the best chance of a fair trial and justice lies within cases that include
physical evidence. Physical evidence, whether fibers, fingerprints, or DNA, can give a jury proof
beyond a reasonable doubt. Physical evidence can convict a criminal, or it can free an innocent man. It
can bring closure to families and to the law enforcement that work the cases. The following cases will
show what physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the vast impact it can make. For each case I
will examine how the physical evidence was important to the case and whether or not it could have
made more of a difference if the presentation of the evidence were different. The five cases are: the

The fact that a murderer was free for years before his DNA helped to solve this crime is of huge
significance. The largest contribution of this case was not the conviction of a criminal, but I would
consider it to be the release of two men who were charged and later cleared. Many will agree that it is
better to let a guilty man go free than it is to imprison an innocent man. In this case, a guilty man is
behind bars, and not one, but two innocent men were cleared of charges. The next case may not have
led to a conviction, but it certainly would have. Not to mention the significance of closing a case that
was over thirty years old. In the next case, Edward Warren murdered an eighty year old mother and
grandmother in Oregon in 1976 after her grandson cancelled a visit (Harden, 2009). Warren had been
paroled on the very morning of the murder, and may or may not have known that anyone was home at
the beginning of the breaking and entering (Harden, 2009). The victim, despite her age, scratched her
attacker, and nail scrapings were taken that matched Warren (Springer, 2009). The DNA match was
only made after a new system was brought into place with further capabilities (Springer, 2009).
Warren later died while incarcerated for two more murders that he admitted to (Harden, 2009). The
physical evidence in this case never got to be presented because the DNA system in place at the time
of Warren s death wasn t adequate. In addition, Warren murdered two

Prostitution As Social And Legal Issues
Literature Reviews:
A) Introduction
This section reviews several literatures considering prostitution and prostitutes as social and legal
issues. It firstly examines concisely the historical and traditional prostitution discourses in course of
developing law on prostitution in the United Kingdom, their (these discourses) influences contributed
to contemporary approaches socially and legally. Regarding the discriminating facts on prostitution
and its legalization from media representations, the final part will investigate how does contemporary
media interpret the prevalent negative discourses (victim or offenders grounded) of prostitution as a
legal and social issue.
B) Prostitution and its legislative development in the United Kingdom
In order to comprehend the tension between social controlled morality and prostitution in British
historic context, and the historical discourses leading to current legal situation in the United Kingdom,
this text relies heavily on the studies of Aspevig (2011) and Begum (2013); the former is about fact
and fiction of prostitution and the latter relates to the significance of regulating prostitution in the
United Kingdom. Both studies similarly emphasized on legal and social discourses on prostitution,
instead of grounded on causes of issues tended to root from sexualized morality discourse. Women in
prostitution are particularly and historically accused of transmitting contagious sexual diseases,
appraised as sexual offenders and

Nebraska State Budget
Assignment 4.2
Abstract
The State of Nebraska has a biennium budget that is set from 2013 all the way to 2015. Knowing what
is in your budget and how to properly gauge what will be needed for the coming two years in each
department is an important aspect to a successful budget. The person in charge of the budget for each
department needs to know how to properly budget and respond to the needs of the state in the most
fiscal way possible. A budget is only as good as the person who is running it. The Nebraska State
budget is complex, but with the right amount of team work and dedication, it seems to run very
smoothly.
Nebraska State Budget The Nebraska State budget is set on a biennium basis. Since this is the case the

It gives a broad overview of the total estimated costs of all the areas that are being run in the state. The
appropriations that are shown in the 2012 13 current fiscal year are those adopted by 2011 regular
session and were further broken down during the 2011 special session of the 102nd legislature. The
Governor s budget recommendations for FY 2013 14 expect a general fund increase by four point nine
percent over the two year period. By doing this the Governor is exceeding the minimum reserve
requirement of fourteen point eight million for the next biennium. This type of foreshadowing is what
is helping Nebraska to look at the overall big picture and to try and stay within the state allowable
budget as closely as possible. The planning even estimates all the way into the 2015 17 biennium that
would set the future growth at five percent and also leave a General Fund balance in excess of the
minimum reserve requirement (Heineman, 2013).
Revenue Generation, Expenditures, and Services The State of Nebraska does a good job of showing
what the state s budget is being spent on and to which programs the money for the state is going.
When looking at the state s budget there are several items that have been considered for the biennium.
The State of Nebraska sets its recommendations by each functional area that are broken down into
general government, agriculture, environment and natural resources, economic development, human
resources development,

Solving Economies Of Scale And Scope
I. Short Answer (No more than one paragraph) 1. Define economies of scale, and provide an example
of a telecommunications product or services that is currently thought to exhibit this economic
characteristic. Repeat for economies of scope. ๏ƒ˜ Economies of Scale is a phenomenon which can be
described as diminishing cost per unit as a result of increased output. ๏ƒ˜ Economies of scope can be
described as a phenomenon where a single provider produces multiple goods or services and earns
returns from different markets simultaneously out of which some may be regulated and some may be
unregulated. ๏ƒ˜ An example to explain economies of scale and scope can be Cisco products. Cisco
offers Cloud services, phones as well as produces network devices and offers support for all its
products. This is an example of Economies of scope. ๏ƒ˜ An example of Economies of scale can be the
cloud services where cisco lays down the network and data centers which comprise of major
investment in infrastructure and more the number of consumers for the cloud, lesser is the cost per

Perceptions Of Gods During Ancient Civilizations
Gabrielle Gehr
WOH 2012 82047
Rough Draft
24 October 2014
Topic: Perceptions of Gods During Ancient Civilizations
Thesis:
Manifestation of gods fulfilled the needs of developing ancient civilizations.
Body of Evidence: 1. Thousands of years ago, before there were scopes, meters, and other types of
scientific instruments, it must have been difficult for early, developing civilizations to understand the
universe around them. Man looked up, casted his eyes to the heavens, and observed what he saw.
Lacking a scientific understanding, manifestations of gods helped primitive cultures to make sense of
the world around them. In fact, the first gods to be worshipped were the forces of nature. It seems any
force that is more powerful or difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of gods led people to a scary observation regarding personal life: morality. This new
piece of knowledge made people aware that life was only temporary. For the first time it became clear
that humans on earth would die at some point in their lives. Many people are scared of dying and have
every right to be especially considering what happens beyond life is uncertain. From this, a very
important question arose: What happens to a person after they die? The creation of gods seemed to
answer this question and calmed fears. Out of all of the religions, Islam may be the most detailed in
what happens after death and what lies ahead. According to the Qur an, the Islam god or Allah created
the earth and the seven heavens for his people. Islamic religion teaches that the soul will continue to
exist after death and Allah decides the human life span of any earthling. Then causeth him to die and
burieth him; Then, when he [God] pleaseth, will raise him again to life (Excerpts from the Qur an, pg
25). There is a direct relationship between ones actions on earth and what happens to their soul after
the death of the human body. ...and that thou mayest warn them of that day of the Gathering, of which
there is no doubt when part shall be in Paradise and part in the flame. (Excerpts from the Qur an, pg
27). The afterlife will either be one of punishments or one of rewards. The Muslims believe that there
will be a day of judgment for all humans. God will resurrect and

Television and Modern Technology Censorship
For every swear word to every explicit image, the FCC is always there to try and censor the indecent
and compromising content before it reaches the viewers. For many years, the FCC has always been
televisions number one source for protection when in regards to filtering which content gets to the
viewer. Television will always change, but for the better I think not. Through the years, the FCC with
censorship has been on an epic downfall that even dates back to how women were portrayed and even
to the images that aired on national public television. Censorship covers a wide range of outlets
whether it is music, television, or the internet. Television worldwide may be one of the most
influential inventions of all time, which is the reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many feel that when their product is consistently monitored it takes the heart and fun out of the
material.
Television Censorship in the past was one drastic change in television history; censorship was also a
major television impact on society. From the 1930s to the 1940s TV was still very new and at in its
birthing years; making the amount of viewers of the television only a few thousand. At a 90 percent
rate TV has doubled its amount of viewers within just a decade making it more than 30 million
viewers. Sex, violence, drugs, and alcohol is a huge acceptance and popular culture and because of the
rise in these popular areas the FCC was born. The FCC also known as the Federal Communications
Commission was established in June of 1934 (CITE A WEBSITE). Although censorship may be a
broad topic, women on the other hand were a prime target for the FCC.
One of the major impacts that censorship has had on society was with women and minorities. Around
the era of WWII, a rise in childbirth also known as the baby boom era had a nationwide effect of
anxieties when it came to sex. In fact, in the 1950s a statue in Indiana for masturbation came into
effect making masturbation a crime; a person caught masturbating could be convicted and sentenced
up to 14 years of jail time. Any sexual interaction between two people was deemed a sin in the eyes of
society calling it bestiality, if the two people were not married. To further show how censorship blocks

Importance Of Reading In My Life
Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in their
life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do they feel an
indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young adulthood, reading
has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me because as a child, I was
very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I often turned to books to fuel my
urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very young age because I read as if I was
living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my joy of reading continued to flourish.
The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged, and the genres broadened and the
vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in my life since the very beginning and
helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has influenced my personality directly, and the
close relationship I hold with literature. If we are going to be reflecting on the impact literature has
had on me as a person, it would make the most logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest
point of reading in my life. Childhood. I learned to read the same way most children did, in
Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the sounds that they made, and from there, to put two
sounds together to form a word. I caught on very fast, I was 5 years old when I fully started

Comparing Anton Chekhov s Romeo And Juliet
Not only Creasman s argument validates Gurov s behavioral transition, but also Robert Fulford, in his
elaborated article agrees when he explains ... it was only now, when [Gurov] s hair had turned grey,
that [Gurov] had fallen in love properly, in the way that one should do for the first time in his life
(339). Thus clearly shows how Gurov s character changes from being a selfish womanizer in to a real
time Romeo. As a matter of fact the critics did not only argue the behavioral or emotional changes of
the character, but also they discussed what significant event or action leads the characters to the
change. In his article, Creasman in support to his theory of Gurov s second flight suggests [Gurov s]
sudden awareness of the grossness and banality of life in Moscow (258), might have led him compare
with the time he spent with Anna. As a result, it contributed to the change in his mood and behavior.
Perhaps there is more reason why Gurov is the way he is. At the beginning of the story, the speaker
describes how Gurov dislikes his wife that [he] was afraid of her, did not like to be at home (Chekhov
252), is another evidence provided in justification to his adultery. The fact that he feared his wife

The Prince Of Tide Savannah Character Analysis
In the story, The Prince of Tide, by Pat Conroy, Savannah and her family experienced many traumatic
events. Savannah has managed to take it the hardest, and has a hard time getting away from it, no
matter how much she tries. When she attempts to commit suicide multiple times in her life, her twin
brother, Tom, takes time out of his own life to relive his life with Savannah s psychiatrist, Dr. Susan
Lowenstein, in order to try to save Savannah. This being said with the number of traumatic
experiences she has been through, Savannah has many great qualities, such as being determined, a

Savannah managed to stay alive through everything she went through growing up. As she aged
Savannah was abused by her father on a daily basis. When she was 18, Savannah, her mother, and her
twin brother were all raped by 3 men. Another factor that plays a part in her being a survivor would
have to be the fact that she tries to commit suicide multiple times and somehow managed to pull
through. On page 117 Luke is talking to his father saying Why are you so mean? Why do you have to
hurt Mama? Why do you want to beat up on a nice little kid like Tom? (Conroy, 117) it shows how
frightened they are of their father and how they don t understand why he is doing what he is. These are
some of the factors that play part in the reason that Savannah is a survivor.
Throughout the story, The Prince of Tides, Savannah played somewhat of a major role. From being in
Tom s memories to being the reason Tom is going back to relive these memories, Savannah has a tie to
almost all the events through the story. Savannah also has many great qualities that play a major role
in her character such as, being determined, sensitive, and a

Over the last few decades there has been an increase in survival rates which means that patients are
living longer with the late adverse effects of their cancer treatment (Office for National Statistics,

social well being. Therefore it is important that these issues are addressed in Oncology practice

Greed In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Greed is an intense desire for wealth or power which plays a pivotal role in human nature and in
personal life. Furthermore, greed plays an influential role in our government as well as in modern day
conflict. For instance, nations have greedily gone to war to protect important commodities and
politicians make legislative decisions in their own self interest. Centuries ago, greed played an equally
important role in politics and conflict. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, set in 44 BC, greed plays an
integral role in the main conflict of the play. In both Shakespeare s Julius Caesar and Thurber s The
Tiger Who Would Be King , a power struggle emerges as a result of a specific character s greed or
ambition for glory. The power struggle in The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Tiger Who Would Be King , the tiger quickly reveals his ambition for glory by proclaiming that
when the moon rises, it will be a yellow moon with black stripes, in my honor (Thurber 1). Thus, one
of the tiger s motives for overthrowing the lion is to gain glory and honor amongst the other creatures.
In Julius Caesar, Brutus s motive for joining the conspirators and assassinating Caesar seems clear.
Brutus explains If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer not that I
loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (III, ii, 21 24). Consequently, Brutus establishes that his
true motive for killing Caesar was the wellbeing of Rome. Throughout the entire play, other characters
perceive Brutus as a noble man. However, he is the tragic hero of Julius Caesar and several of his
tragic flaws come to light throughout the play. For instance, Brutus demonstrates that he is arrogant
and egotistical when he tells Cassius he is not afraid of his threats because he is armed (III, iii, 69 77).
Brutus is fully aware of his portrayal as a nobleman and thinks very highly of himself. Hence, Brutus s
reason for joining the conspirators may have been to cling onto his title as a nobleman while gaining
the glory and support of Rome s citizens. Moreover, Brutus chooses to join the conspirators upon
receiving fake letters from citizens urging him to lead Rome (I, ii, 327 334). Undoubtedly, Brutus is
not greedy or interested in acquiring power. Brutus only wanted to assassinate Caesar to save Rome
from the potential negative effects which Caesar could cause during his rule. Yet, Brutus has an
underlying motive to gain honor and glory because he knows killing Caesar to save Rome and please
the citizens will allow him to appear heroic and honorable. Hence, Brutus illustrates how a desire for
glory can

  • 2. Explain The Main Organs In The Urinary System The main organs in the urinary system for mammals are the kidneys, which filter blood and produce urine. The other organs such as the ureters, urinary bladder and the urethra are simply accessory structures that help in the transport and storage of urine. The kidneys of mammals are round, bean shaped organs. These kidneys are located at the posterior end of the abdomen and outside of the peritoneum, which is the membrane that encloses the organs of the abdominal cavity. The indentation found on the bean shaped part of the kidney is called the hilum, this is where the renal artery enters the kidney and where both the renal vein and ureter exit. The kidney is also divided into 2 regions, which is the outer cortex and the inner medulla. In the cortex, this is where blood is filtered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also where more water and electrolytes are absorbed. From here, the filtrate is passed through the distal convoluted tubule, where excess potassium ions, hydrogen ions and toxins are passed from the blood into the filtrate. The end product is dumped into a large collecting duct, which then leads to the papillae of pyramids, through the calyxes, and into the renal pelvis to be excreted through the ureters. From the ureters, urine is passed down to the urinary bladder. The outer surface of the urinary bladder is covered with fibrous connective tissue. Inside the connective tissue is a muscular layer called the detrusor muscle. This smooth muscle contracts to expel urine from the bladder. The next tissue layer, the submucosa, is an elastic fibrous membrane that supports the mucosa, which lines the inside of the bladder. The opening of the urethra is surrounded by a band of detrusor muscle, forming an internal urethral sphincter. This sphincter is relaxed by involuntary muscle control, and is innervated in a way that when the bladder is approximately half full, the animal will recognize the urge to urinate. The last passageway for urine is through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Public Humiliation As A Deterrent Against Future Crimes Public humiliation can be extremely effective and valuable for improvement in discipline and serves as a deterrent against future crimes. Public shaming has been employed since the beginning of time and is practiced worldwide. Throughout history, the advantage of the practice of public humiliation was exploited by early civilization for the prime and propitious results. In Ancient Rome, public humiliation was frequently utilized during crucifixion, when a person was killed for a sin. Crucifixion was as defined by Dr. Dan Hayden, the most humiliating and degrading form of public death ever devised. (Hayden, Hung On a Tree ). The method of crucifixion was not only shameful for the one being punished but also was as an incentive for the public. It served as a reminder to avoid committing a sin. In the Middle East, nations such as Iran and Afghanistan, authorities... amputated the hands of a convicted thief in front of other prisoners... (Associated Press, Iran Cuts Off Man s Hand For Stealing ). The purpose of this form of public humiliation serves similar to the motives of the crucifixion. These are just two of the countless historical records that assert the usage of public humiliation for stabilization within the society. It was constantly used in the former times and is still used in the modern era. The effectiveness of this form of discipline was and is still witnessed by numerous individuals. The form of discipline portrayed by public humiliation persuades and serves as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison Of Paranoia In Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy And 1984 Alfredson s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Orwell s 1984 both illustrate atmospheres of paranoia through imagery, fear of losing relationships and setting. Through these illustrations both creators generate tension and fear throughout their characters actions and lives, causing the tension to build up within the audience as they experience the paranoia throughout the texts. Alfredson s and Orwell s texts Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and 1984 both portray atmospheres of paranoia through visual imagery and visual elements. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy s opening scene which commences with the distinct footsteps, quiet music and the creaking of the door as it opens emphasise the paranoia within the atmosphere as Prideaux and Control meet. The scene starts in darkness and gradually becomes brighter, music further amplifies the paranoia by carrying the music from darkness to the opening of the door ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the door opens the darkness of Control s face, highlighted by the light from within the room, represents the secretive manner in which Control and Prideaux meet. In comparison, visual imagery illustrates O Brien s heavy face, bent down so that one could see the line of the nose and his stature which towered over the pair of them emphasising his powerful physique which strikes fear into Winston as the already present terror amplifies. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy uses a panning shot to shows the paranoid Guillam as he rushes to place his documents back into his bag after taking it from Alwyn, he tries to avoid being caught breaking rules. • 5. Hip Hop History Hip hop or hip hop is a subculture and art movement developed in South Bronx in New York City during the late 1970s.[1][2][3][4][5] While people unfamiliar with Hip Hop culture often use the expression hip hop to refer exclusively to hip hop music (also called rap ),[6] Hip Hop is characterized by nine distinct elements or expressive realms, of which Hip Hop music is only four elements (rapping, djaying, beatboxing and breaking). Afrika Bambaataa of the Hip Hop collective Zulu Nation outlined the pillars of Hip Hip culture, coining the terms: rapping (also called MCing or emceeing), a rhythmic vocal rhyming style (orality); DJing (and turntablism), which is making music with record players and DJ mixers (aural/sound and music creation); ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Members of the scene plugged in the amplifiers for their instruments and PA speakers into the lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue and used their live music events to break down racial barriers between African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Whites and other ethnic groups. Jamaican immigrant DJ Kool Herc also played a key role in developing Hip Hop music. At 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, Herc mixed samples of existing records and deejayed percussion breaks , mixing this music with his own Jamaican style toasting (a style of chanting and boastful talking over a microphone) to rev up the crowd and dancers. Kool Herc is credited as the father of Hip Hop for developing the key DJ techniques that, along with rapping, founded the hip hop music style by creating rhythmic beats by looping breaks (small portions of songs emphasizing a percussive pattern) on two turntables. This was later accompanied by rapping or MCing , a rhythmic style of chanting or speaking poetry/lyrics, and beatboxing, a percussive vocal technique used to create beats to go along with an MC or rappers rhymes.[citation needed] An original form of dancing called breakdancing, which later became accompanied by popping, locking and other dance moves, which was done to the accompaniment of hip hop songs played on boom boxes and particular styles of hip hop dress and hair also ... • 6. Shark Finning Should Stop The Sharks Shark finning should stop. Shark poaching or finning has been going on for a while to make a dish called shark fin soup . People who eat that most likely don t know what happens to make it. Poachers catch the sharks, and put them on their boats and hold them down while they cut all of their fins off. The worst part is once they re done, they drop them back into the water and make them suffer as they lose tons of blood, and later suffocate or be eaten by other animals. It makes me feel sorry for all of those sharks that went through this, and some people might say that poaching is justified for sharks because they kill people, but what they don t understand is that they are animals, and it is just instinct. You don t blame cats for killing birds do you? They are known for killing. Movies have put that straight. These cameras gave people the ability to take a photo almost anywhere. The cameras had to be sent back to the factory so the photographs could be printed. Twenty years after Kodak s first camera, they produced an improved camera, called Brownie . The Brownie was simple to use, making the art of photography boom. Flash cameras did not appear until the 1930s, letting people take pictures in areas with dim or little lighting. In 1947, Edwin Land invented the instant camera. Land got the idea after his daughter asked to see her picture after he took her photo. The next step in improving the camera was by making it digital, which was done in 1975 by a Kodak employee. As the camera gets smaller and simpler to use, the quality of the photographs it produces gets better. Photographs are created from light rays bouncing off objects. When a person looks through the viewfinder, the image they see are light rays reflected from a penta prism, a specially shaped piece of glass inside the camera. The rays from the penta prism came from a mirror, which reflected the rays it received from the lenses. Lenses are used to focus in or out on objects. They attain the rays from the object reflecting the rays toward the camera. For an image to be captured on a film camera, the button used to take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout Hawthorne s The Birthmark , the impossibility of perfection in this world, and yet how close to perfection Georgiana is, is a recurring theme, especially in this passage. There is no way to be human and yet so perfect in such an imperfect world. Therefore, she is an angel, sent down from the heavens to find a pure human who could love not for beauty, but unconditionally, and prove the worth of humanity. It is impossible to be truly perfect on this world, and human lives are finite. It is the fatal flaw of humanity. Here it is made clear that Georgiana is more than human, for she is described as being almost absolutely perfect, if it were not for the mark on her cheek. A mark, which Aylmer might have felt his affection heightened by the prettiness of this mimic hand, stating that even her fatal flaw is beautiful. If she were human, she could not be so perfect. Before Aylmer became obsessed with her birthmark, she was extremely happy. She loved everything, and found beauty in most everything as well. No human can truly be so optimistic, no matter how they may seem. However, once Aylmer started to shame her and tear down her self esteem over the small mark on her cheek, which could have been beautiful, Georgiana became depressed. Despite this, she still tried to see the beauty in everything, looking through the eyes of an angel at a world she only knew from afar. While there is no agreement of a full blown communist or socialist revolution, a la Karl Marx, there is agreement that there should be slight changes towards this idea of equality. Escher s early works are an odd mix of cubism and traditional woodcut. From these beginnings, one could already note Escher s fondness for repetition and clean shapes. Howard Bahr, a native of Oxford, Mississippi, teaches English at Motlow State Community College in Tennessee. He has written many short stories, essays, and articles, many of which deal with the American Civil War. The Black Flower is a novel of the American Civil War, which tells the story of three confederate soldiers. The story begins with Bushrod Carter, a twenty six year old soldier from Mississippi, dreaming that it is snowing and that the ground is covered in hoe cakes drenched in molasses. Bushrod then pulls away from his ranks to eat a hoe cake off of the ground, but before he can take his first bite he is awakened by General Patrick Cleburne. General Patrick Cleburne continues to wake up the rest of Bushrod s sleeping colleagues, including Jack Bishop and Virgil C. Johnson. Bushrod and his colleagues prepare to fight a significant battle in Franklin, Tennessee. The troops arrive at the McGavock house, a two story brick house located in Franklin, Tennessee. Within the McGavock house lives John and Caroline McGavock, their children Winder and Hattie, and their cousin Anna Hereford. Anna is a twenty four year old unmarried woman who had been sent by her father to help Caroline care for the children. From the 1930s to the 1940s TV was still very new and at in its birthing years; making the amount of viewers of the television only a few thousand. At a 90 percent rate TV has doubled its amount of viewers within just a decade making it more than 30 million viewers. Sex, violence, drugs, and alcohol is a huge acceptance and popular culture and because of the rise in these popular areas the FCC was born. The FCC also known as the Federal Communications Commission was established in June of 1934 (CITE A WEBSITE). Although censorship may be a broad topic, women on the other hand were a prime target for the FCC. One of the major impacts that censorship has had on society was with women and minorities. Around the era of WWII, a rise in childbirth also known as the baby boom era had a nationwide effect of anxieties when it came to sex. In fact, in the 1950s a statue in Indiana for masturbation came into effect making masturbation a crime; a person caught masturbating could be convicted and sentenced up to 14 years of jail time. Any sexual interaction between two people was deemed a sin in the eyes of society calling it bestiality, if the two people were not married. To further show how censorship blocks certain images ... • 28. Importance Of Reading In My Life Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in their life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do they feel an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young adulthood, reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me because as a child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I often turned to books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very young age because I read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my joy of reading continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged, and the genres broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in my life since the very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has influenced my personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are going to be reflecting on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. Childhood. I learned to read the same way most children did, in Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the sounds that they made, and from there, to put two sounds together to form a word. Comparing Anton Chekhov s Romeo And Juliet Not only Creasman s argument validates Gurov s behavioral transition, but also Robert Fulford, in his elaborated article agrees when he explains ... it was only now, when [Gurov] s hair had turned grey, that [Gurov] had fallen in love properly, in the way that one should do for the first time in his life (339). Thus clearly shows how Gurov s character changes from being a selfish womanizer in to a real time Romeo. As a matter of fact the critics did not only argue the behavioral or emotional changes of the character, but also they discussed what significant event or action leads the characters to the change. In his article, Creasman in support to his theory of Gurov s second flight suggests [Gurov s] sudden awareness of the grossness and banality of life in Moscow (258), might have led him compare with the time he spent with Anna. As a result, it contributed to the change in his mood and behavior. Perhaps there is more reason why Gurov is the way he is. Therefore it is important that these issues are addressed in Oncology practice (Barker et al, 2009). • 35. Greed In Julius Caesar Research Paper Greed is an intense desire for wealth or power which plays a pivotal role in human nature and in personal life. Furthermore, greed plays an influential role in our government as well as in modern day conflict. For instance, nations have greedily gone to war to protect important commodities and politicians make legislative decisions in their own self interest. Centuries ago, greed played an equally important role in politics and conflict. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, set in 44 BC, greed plays an integral role in the main conflict of the play. In both Shakespeare s Julius Caesar and Thurber s The Tiger Who Would Be King , a power struggle emerges as a result of a specific character s greed or ambition for glory. In The Tiger Who Would Be King , the tiger quickly reveals his ambition for glory by proclaiming that when the moon rises, it will be a yellow moon with black stripes, in my honor (Thurber 1). Thus, one of the tiger s motives for overthrowing the lion is to gain glory and honor amongst the other creatures. In Julius Caesar, Brutus s motive for joining the conspirators and assassinating Caesar seems clear. Brutus explains If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (III, ii, 21 24). Consequently, Brutus establishes that his true motive for killing Caesar was the wellbeing of Rome. Throughout the entire play, other characters perceive Brutus as a noble man. However, he is the tragic hero of Julius Caesar and several of his tragic flaws come to light throughout the play. For instance, Brutus demonstrates that he is arrogant and egotistical when he tells Cassius he is not afraid of his threats because he is armed (III, iii, 69 77). Brutus is fully aware of his portrayal as a nobleman and thinks very highly of himself. Hence, Brutus s reason for joining the conspirators may have been to cling onto his title as a nobleman while gaining the glory and support of Rome s citizens. Moreover, Brutus chooses to join the conspirators upon receiving fake letters from citizens urging him to lead Rome (I, ii, 327 334). Undoubtedly, Brutus is not greedy or interested in acquiring power. Brutus only wanted to assassinate Caesar to save Rome from the potential negative effects which Caesar could cause during his rule. Yet, Brutus has an underlying motive to gain honor and glory because he knows killing Caesar to save Rome and please the citizens will allow him to appear heroic and honorable.
