Case Study Of WACC Of The Coca-Cola Company
Weighted average cost of capital (WACC) is a calculation of a firm s cost of capital which each type
of capital is proportionately weighted. WACC is used as a discount rate for investment appraisal.
Hence, calculating WACC of a firm is important.
The Coca Cola Company is a beverage company which owns more than 500 nonalcoholic brands. Its
product is known by customers all over the world. The company has market capitalization of $185.88
billion (Google finance, Oct 2015). In addition to equity capital, the company also issues corporate
bonds to finance its operation. Both stocks and bonds of the company is traded in The New York
Stock Exchange (NYSE). To calculate WACC of The Coca Cola Company, we need to obtain some

Simpsons Semiotics
The Simpsons is not just another animated television show, it is the animated television show. Never
has a North American cartoon had such an impact on daily living then The Simpsons. The Simpsons is
now credited as the longest runnning american show, with 384 episodes forming eighteen seasons. It s
longvity has not gone unnoticed either. The Simpsons has won many awards and had this year
received its 9th Emmy Award for best animated program. Aside from their successes The Simpsons as
an icon can be analyzed with semiotics. They are symbolic, expressive, and represent many different
ideologies. The Simpsons are a yellow skinned family with 3 children, a dog, a cat, and 2 cars. They
are a middle class family living in a small town, Springfield. They represent the average middle class
american family with each character in the show representing another symbol separately. They take
from real life, put a twist on the details and then feed it back to the people so that they seem to mock
and mimic the American Dream at the same time. The Simpsons family strives for the things we as a
society strive for. They represent our society even though they are just fictional ... Show more content

Richard Attenborough s Film Gandhi
The topic assigned to our group was Celebrity. So we were supposed to select a narrative that talk
about the same. According to Oxford dictionary celebrity means someone who is famous or the state
of being famous (in today s world Celebrity is usually used to identify someone in sports or
entertainment sector). A political leader seemed to be a celebrity according to this meaning and that is
the reason why I selected Gandhi, as celebrity. The specific text that I worked on was Richard
Attenborough s movie Gandhi released in the year 1982. There are lot of other sources about Gandhi.
One could work on Gandhi s autobiography or other forms of literary narratives that explains Gandhi
as a celebrity. But a movie about Gandhi seemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned before, there are some alterations to the actual story of the movie along with some
factual errors presented in the movie. The story of the movie, as the name suggests, is about Gandhi
the political leader. To narrow down further, the director of the movie is looking only at the political
aspect of Gandhi. Here other aspects life the social life, moral life and religious aspects are omitted.
These aspects about Gandhi are also important while talking about the story of Gandhi the person.
Talking about the story of Gandhi the movie, the time line starts with Gandhi s youth and days he
worked as a lawyer in South Africa. Therefore the director is not mentioning anything about the
childhood and teenage of Gandhi or his family background. It is not a complete biographical movie as
it is neglecting the initial years of the protagonist, in its narration. The plot can be easily distinguished
from the story of the movie. The plot of the movie begins with the final moments in Gandhi s life. The
movie begins with the shot where Godse approaches Gandhi and kills him. Then the story flashes back
to 55 years. It shows how a 23 year old Gandhi is facing racial discrimination during a train journey
(1893 South Africa). Most of the scenes shown in the movie is part of this flash back. The jump from

Side Effects Of Cyber Bullying
Social media is a phrase that we throw around a lot these days, often to describe what we post on sites
and apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and others. The social part: refers to interacting
with other people by sharing information with them and receiving information from them. The media
part: refers to an instrument of communication, like the internet (while TV, radio, and newspapers are
examples of more traditional forms of media). Social media are web based communication tools that
enable people to interact with each other by both sharing and consuming information. However, social
media may have some side effects such as cyberbullying, which may have negative impacts on the life
of people, especially children and teenagers. Cyberbullying can be defined as aggressive, intentional
actions performed by an individual or a group of people via digital communication methods such as
sending messages and posting comments against a victim. Different from traditional bullying that
usually occurs at school during face to face communication, cyberbullying on social media can take
place anywhere at any time. For bullies, they are free to hurt their peers feelings because they do not
need to face someone and can hide behind the Internet. For victims, they are easily exposed to
harassment since all of us, especially youth, are constantly connected to Internet or social media. As
reported cyberbullying victimization rate ranges from 10% to 40%. In the United States,

John Hunter Anatomists
Anatomy, the study of the human body, is a discipline of the medical sciences that flourished beyond
precedent during the 17th and 18th centuries in Western Europe. During this time, many physicians,
anatomists, and doctors began to not only investigate anatomy more seriously, but also to teach
anatomy to more people. Dissections of cadavers became more common at learning establishments
and more accepted by the general public, and by government authorities. Anatomical theatres were
constructed for the mass teaching of dissections, and any and all bodies from criminal hangings were
donated as cadavers to the universities. As trends grow and become popular problems are bound to
become known. In anatomy, this problem was the shortage of cadavers ... Show more content on

Trained as surgeons, they both lectured and studied anatomy in London, performing many dissections
and teaching several future doctors. John, the younger of the two, started off as a student of his older
brother William, and went on to have a highly successful career, often seen as a more influential
anatomist of the two. John Hunter studied and dissected every animal he could, comparing animal and
human bodies. John Hunter is credited with the naming of several body components including all of
the teeth. On top of that, he discovered the embryonic development similarities between species, as
well as discovering the paths of nerves and blood vessels through the skull. Through his work on the
circulation of blood, he paved the pathway for what is known today as vascular surgery. Another great
anatomist, Alexander Monro, was appointed to teach anatomy as a professor, and in turn became the
founder of the Edinburgh Medical School. His son, followed by his grandson, continued his legacy as
a professor of anatomy and head of Edinburgh Medical School, although his grandson met with little
success as he did not possess the abilities of his father and

Racism Is A Major Issue That Has Affected The World Since
Racism is a major issue that has affected the world since the beginning of time. Racism is hatred by a
person or group of one race towards a person of another race. The United States has grown on the idea
that races should be together but this process is far from being over. There are people in society who
think that their race is better than all and some who just believe that certain races can fit together and
others do not belong with them. One of the main race problems that people see is between Caucasians
and African Americans. This started back in the 1900 s when African Americans where slaves and
were segregated from Caucasians. As time went on Cauca sians were forced to deal with African
Americans when the segregated schools act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Physics Of Fractions As A Child
Introduction:
Ever since I first learned about fractions as a child, I was always heavily agitated by the fact that every
time I would ask my teacher about dividing by zero, or have a calculator perform a equation where a
non zero number was divided by zero, I would just be told there was no solution. I wondered for years
about why there simply was no practical way to express a number divided by zero, until I learned
about something strangely similar to dividing a number by zero, being black holes, or a gravitational
singularity (a single point in space with a certain mass, equating to a density where the mass of the
object is divided by zero). Just like dividing by zero, black holes are usually represented as an
undefined point in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A counterargument could be immediately made that black holes do have a volume, but for
clarification, this is in terms of its singularity, not its event horizon (or the critical radius), which is the
black part of the hole that light does not escape from, as it is the point in which light can no longer
escape, as the escape velocity (the speed required to break free of an object s gravity, according to
physlink.com) is greater than the speed of light.
Now that this is established, representing the infinite density of a black hole is difficult to understand,
similarly in terms of the function 1/x, because like how the x value on the graph approaches the
asymptote of zero on the x axis from positive infinity, the y value gradually leaves the asymptote of
zero on the y axis to approach infinity, being not the largest possible number, but instead a filled space
that has no bounds, such as a star that is shining light into all directions in space forever, therefore
filing this ongoing void with light. That is infinity, so in terms of this essay, the light could be
represented as 1/∞. If the light were to be replaced with mass, the volume of said mass would
effectively be the opposite of a black hole, being an infinite number of some sort, with the density
being calculated by dividing it s mass by infinity of some sort, representing it s volume.
In simple fractions, they could likely be expressed as a circle or some other shape split into

Why I m Considering Becoming a Mechanical Engineer Essay
Finding out how and why things work and discovering how products are made has always my passion.
I regularly watch engineering and science shows on the television. From my childhood, I have always
been a very curious person who would not believe just because someone told me, but I had to know
the reason behind it. Science always fascinated me, and I always wondered how we remained on the
ground and never fell off something that is spherical. In school I was more interested in maths and
science rather than History or Arts and this made me choose Chemistry, maths and physics as my
Higher subjects. This has helped me appreciate how Science has been utilised to improve man s life
and make it easier. It is because of this that I would like to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from my curriculum, I am involved in various extracurricular activities such as cricket and
basketball. I am also involved in chess club helping me to develop my detail orientation and decision
making skill all essential for mechanical engineering. I also volunteer in my church. I organize and
participate in different activities like drama, carol service and other programs related to my culture
like Onam festival of flowers, this has enabled me to develop my leadership and organizational skills
and to work in an environment that requires patience and ability to consider ideas of others. During
my free times, I read about different captivating things like brief history of time by Stephen Hawkings
and also let my creative side flow by drawing. It helps me to relax and soothes my mind when I am
stressed. By being involved in games and sport, I am able to build a strong mind and good
concentration which then enables me to be an effective learner. During holidays and summer vacation
I did voluntary work at the British Heart Foundation, and I currently have a paid job at Morrisons
where I enjoy working as a part of a team. My personal strengths are that I am a keen learner and
organized person because like Benjamin Franklin I believe that if I fail to plan then I am planning to
fail. Above all I am confident that I have made the right choice and that I am a suitable candidate for

Bowling For Columbine Film Techniques
Surely you can t receive a free gun at a bank, in America you can. Michael Moore wrote, directed and
produced the documentary Bowling For Columbine (2002). This film deconstructs the massacre at
Columbine High School and other school shootings. The impacts that may be causing these shooting

to achieve a reaction from Americans to research what is the cause of these shooting. The target age
for this documentary is fifteen and older. I believe that this is a suitable age as it raises awareness of
this topic to teens. The attention that this documentary has had is astounding. This film has won more
Oscars than Leonardo DiCaprio which is one. In fact it has won 39 awards in total. With attention
comes a great impact. By Moore doing a thorough analysis of the gun laws in America Moore has

opinion greatly. Moore has chosen very purposeful camera angles such as camera shots, camera
angles, camera movement, lighting and cinematography. He uses these very affectively throughout the
documentary, for example he uses them to make people seem of less importance as he uses high
angles as it creates the illusion of you looking down at them and only shoots the from the shoulders up
showing that they are less of a person he also asks them questions that have been scripted to make

Nurture Plays a More Dominant Role in Human s Development...
Humans are unique and intricate creatures and their development is a complex process. It is this
process that leads people to question, is a child s development influenced by genetics or their
environment? This long debate has been at the forefront of psychology for countless decades now and
is better known as Nature versus Nurture . The continuous controversy on whether or not children
develop their psychological attributes based on genetics (nature) or the way in which they have been
raised (nurture) has pondered the minds of psychologists for years. Through thorough experiments,
studies, and discussions however, it is easy to see that nurture is far more important in the
development of a human than nature.
The Nature versus Nurture argument can be traced back many millenniums ago. In 350 B.C.,
philosophers asked the same question on human behaviour. Plato and Aristotle were two philosophers
that each had two diverse views on the matter. Plato believed that knowledge and behaviour were due
to inherent factors, but environmental factors still played a role in the equation. Conversely, Aristotle
had different views. He believed in the idea of Tabula Rasa .
The Blank Slate theory supported the nurture side of the argument and believed that everyone was
born with a Tabula Rasa , Latin for Blank Slate . He proposed that people learn and acquire ideas from
external forces or the environment . In other words, he believed that the mind is a blank slate and it is

The Energy Generator Ofgem Announced
Energy, especially electricity, is vital in today s economy however demand for electricity is currently
so high that the available supply may not be sufficient over the next 25 years. Electricity lights our
homes, powers our technology and is a fundamental factor in everybody s day to day lives.
In 2012, the energy generator Ofgem announced that Great Britain risks running out of energy.
(Business, 2012). In the United Kingdom, equipment which is used to generate electricity has suffered
from years of under investment. This has resulted in an inefficient system that distributes energy
across the country. Most of the UK s electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels. In 2010, Energy
UK reported that the UK currently use 47% natural gas and 28% coal to supply the countries power.
(Energy uk.org, 2010).
In 2007, the United Kingdom Government agreed to an overall European Union target of generating
20% of the European Union s energy supply from renewable sources by 2020. The total of all
renewable electricity sources provided for 14.9% of the electricity generated in the United Kingdom in
2013, reaching 53.7 TWh of electricity generated. (Daley, 2015).
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and
geothermal heat. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power,
hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation. Solar power is recently

The Conflicting Nature Of Power In Shakespeare s King...
When an individual is situated in a position of power, their actions are determined by their present
company. In this way, an individual may act in conflicting ways in order to please their present
audience and thus are removed from the power they are deemed to possess. The pivotal characters in
William Shakespeare s King Henry IV Part 1 successfully portray the conflicting nature of power
throughout the play and ultimately comment on how aspects of politics are subject to the opinions of
spectators. Politics is defined as the process of making decisions applying to all members of each
group, involving a variety of groups resulting in the nature of politics changing depending on the
participants. The conflict between Prince Hal and King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry laments over the fact that Hal is not the son he would have liked, religiously alluding to the
unruliness of his son that he has no control over is the punishment from God as a result of his
usurpation of the throne. This religious allusion reflecting on Henry s sins demonstrates the both the
political power the King obtains, as he deposed the previous King, but also the powerlessness he has
in correspondence to the Lord, and his own conscience. In addition, Henry use of the term grafted
describes Prince Hal s connection to Falstaff and the subsequent rejection of his more important blood
relations and thus his role as the heir to the English throne. It can be argued that Hal purposely
attempts to separate himself from the royal role that his father sets for him, understanding that his
father usurped the Divine Right of Kings and thus sought the company of individuals that would
successfully result in the disapproval of his father and the Royal Court. Hal finds companions in the
rouges in which inhabit the Boar s Head Inn and Eastcheap, including the thieving surrogate father
Falstaff. However, while the two locations and companies are considered to differ starkly, Shakespeare
successfully mirrors the separate destinations in first two scenes between the Royal Court and the
Rouge Court found in the Boar s Head Inn. Whilst the occupants are of the Inn are freely labelled as

Variable Selection Via Penalized Likelihood Plays An...
Variable selection via penalized likelihood plays an important role in statistics and machine learning.
In this paper, we first review some classical methods like AIC, BIC, Mallow s Cp, then discuss some
regularization methods including Lasso, adaptive Lasso, elastic net, adaptive elastic net and group
Lasso. We also consider the application of regularization methods in generalized linear model, Cox s
model and time series analysis. At the end, we give suggestions for future work. 1 Classical Method
The problem of variable selection is always the center of statistical research. Some classical methods
like best subset selection, forward selection and backward elimination are proposed to handing
massive data set. These methods are basically based on the idea of grid search. For example, the best
subset selection searches the optimal model by all possible combination of the predictors. The forward
selection find the best model by adding one predictor at each time, while the backward elimination
finds the best model by removing one predictor at each time. Although these methods are powerful
and accurate, they also cost a lot. For instance, suppose our model has 10 predictors, if we run the best
subset selection to get the optimal model, we need to compare 1024 combinations of the predictors. It
is unrealistic to perform such method in our real life because it time consuming. As a result, more
efficient methods to solve the problem of variable selection are urgently desired. In

Jackson Pollock Essay
The dominant figure that steered the course of the Abstract Expressionist movement was the infamous
painter Jackson Pollock. He was born Paul Jackson Pollock in Cody, Wyoming on January 28, 1912.
He was the fifth and youngest son and grew up in Arizona and California after his family left him
when he was a little over one year old. Pollock s artistic journey began at the Manual Arts School in
Los Angeles, California where he joined two of his brothers. From there, he went on to New York to
attend the Art Students League after being convinced by one of his brothers whom also attended the
school. Before moving into his own innovative style, Pollock would have to learn the formal rules of

In 1939, Jackson Pollock entered psychotherapy for his alcoholism. For him, the doctors saw that
producing artwork could serve as a means of therapy for his problem with alcohol. His alcoholism
would later come back to haunt him and his works in later years and become the cause of his ultimate
demise. Pollock began doing all of his works in a completely abstract manner in the mid 1940s. But,
after 1947 is when Pollock s most recognizable abstract works would be produced. This is when he
began placing large canvases on the floor and creating his famous abstract works. On these large
canvases, he started to use his drip technique, which was first shown to him by Siqueiro. These drip
paintings were first shown in 1948. They are said to reflect both ecstasy and anxiety. After they were
introduced to the world, a critic actually characterized Pollock as Jack the Dripper . These works
captivated and scared his future wife, Lee Krasner, a painter herself. His personal technique in gesture
and action painting was applied as directly as possible. Pollock said that through this active process,
he could literally be in the painting . This describes the term coined action painting . He also said,

Taking a Look at Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is the use of Information Technology to harm or harass other people in a deliberate,
repeated, and hostile manner. According to U.S. Legal Definitions, Cyber bullying could be limited to
posting rumors or gossips about a person in the internet bringing about hatred in other s minds; or it
may go to the extent of personally identifying victims and publishing materials severely defaming and
humiliating them. With the increase in use of these technologies, cyberbullying has become
increasingly common, especially among teenagers. Awareness has also risen, due in part to high
profile cases like the Suicide of Tyler Clementi. Definition Legal definition Cyberbullying is defined

In his essay, Minds, Brains, and Computers, John Searle attempts to prove that Strong AI does not
exist. He still believes that there is some merit to weak AI, as a means for understanding how certain
elements of the brain function, but using computers as a way of not only mimicking the brain but
actually being a mind. The most concrete example that Searle used in support of his claim was that
computers cannot understand, and he demonstrated this through the Chinese Room experiment. In the
Chinese Room Experiment, a person can functionally answer questions in a language that they do not
understand, as long as they are given the tools to match certain words to words that they understand in

thought that maybe our new owner Eliza, would set us free if I paid her. She actually liked me here
and liked the earnings she got for paying me out. What I thought I could do after she said no was go to

Reducing Dissonance
People are motivated to reduce dissonance. Past research has shown that dissonance can be relieved
when participants wash their hands (Lee Schwarz, 2010). We believe dissonance can occur in
individuals when they support a presidential candidate who does not hold the same moral values as
them. Haidt et al. (2007) included a figure in their article which showed that liberals rated values such
as care and fairness as relevant to morality, whereas conservatives rated authority and purity as
relevant to morality. Study 1: We hypothesize that there will be a positive correlation between
participant s personal morality values and the morality values held by the participants desired
presidential candidate. However, there will be a negative

Discuss Bourdieu’s concept of ‘Habitus’
The essay will explore the concepts of Habitus and how it can form a personal taste. In order to
discover if taste can be considered to be truly personal, it is important to first investigate on the ideas
of consumer culture and how meaning can be created. There are a number of theorists that need to be
pointed out when talking about this subject matter, such as; Slater, Bourdieu, Lury and Miller. There
will also be a slight touch on the key aspects of semiotics and semiology as this tool will be used in
order to apply the main theories to practice. So as to carry this out, the theorist Barthes will be studied
as well. According to Slater (1997:26), consumer culture is, in principle, universal and impersonal .

However, people from the upper class will always stay where they are and will always be located in
the highest position of the hierarchy. Things usually start with the upper class and trickle down to the
common, lower classes in terms of movement and originality. This is the reason why people from the
working class, for instance chavs, tend to purchase products that are a replica of the original products
which initially belong to the upper class. Moving on, the theory of conspicuous consumption which
according to Bourdieu (1986:31) seeks distinction in the crude display of ill mastered luxury, is
nothing compared to the unique capacity of the pure gaze, a quasi creative power which sets the
aesthete apart from the common herd by a radical difference which seems to be inscribed in persons .
He explains that conspicuous consumption is when people buy things not for themselves, but for
others in the society in order to show it to them and what they think of it. This is to express that they
have the money and can afford to buy such items. People want to look different through their
appearance by the use of their luxury. It seems as if it has become significant to people that their
identity lies within the products that they can purchase. This notion of using consumption to portray
your identity within the class is also mentioned by Lury (1996:80) when she claims that lifestyle is
thus an instance of the tendency for groups of individuals to use

Analysis Of Big Two Hearted River By Ernest Hemingway
Big Two Hearted River , a semi autobiographical short story by Ernest Hemingway, is a story about
the main character, Nick, returning to Big Two Hearted River in order to recover from his inner
wounds. Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he suffers from
PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to Nick s mental
wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style, the Iceberg
principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without mentioning actual
theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by simply looking at the text
itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character development of Nick must
be examined. This is possible since Nick Adams is a recurring character of Hemingway s stories. The
two preceding stories of Big Two Hearted River , Now I lay me and A Way you ll Never Be , directly
discusses Nick s suffering from shell shock and how he comforts himself by returning to Big Two
Hearted river in his mind. The two short stories will be analyzed and connected to Big Two Hearted
River in the essay first. This will provide a strong understanding of Nick s psyche and the reason
behind his return to nature. Then, Big Two Hearted River the short story itself will be carefully
analyzed. The dozen of the Nick Adams stories allowed Nick to develop his character from a child to
an adult. The

Music Education Essay
Education is the foundation that our entire society is built on. Without education, society could not
grow and prosper. Without education, we wouldn t have things like electricity, plumbing, or any other
common amenities that is present in our society today. Education is important to not only the children
receiving it, but to their parents and members of the community as a whole. Education is offered to
many in U.S. thanks to public education, and laws that say children must be in school until they are
six teen. Education incorporates not only the four main subjects people usually know, which are
science and math, english, and social studies, but music education as well. Music Education is

( Why Teach Music).
The fact that music incorporates all these different subject areas is just one reason why it helps in other
subjects. Music affects children in many ways. Children who study music have a larger vocabulary
and better reading skills than students who do not study music. This helps them improve their essay
writing, which is an important skill to have in high school and college. Studying music also helps the
brain comprehend speech when there is noise or other distractions going on. This means that there is
an even greater benefit to music education for kids with learning disabilities or children who lose
focus easily. Music education also affects the way a persons brain comprehends the human language.
This allows students to have an easier time learning a second language, which is now a very important
skill to have when applying for jobs. Another benefit is that students who study music have a higher
level of self esteem, and are therefore more confident around others and more willing to express
themselves personality wise and they are more willing to express ideas they have. They are also then
more willing to work as a team. Schools with music programs have, about, a twenty seven percent
higher graduation rate and a nine percent attendance rate than schools without a music program (11

The Key Concepts Within Modern File Systems

This essay will discuss the key concepts within modern file systems, ranging from simply defining
what a filesystem is, to detailing what exactly a file consists of. Historical developments within file
systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be
described.
3 Introduction
Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and either
stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. Finally Procrustes was forced onto his
own bed by Thesius.
A similar Procrustean technique was applied to filesystems and data storage for many years. System

By separating the data into identifiable blocks, the information can be easily located. (1) Each
grouping of data, which takes its name from the method of organising paper based information, is
referred to as a file . The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a
directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3)
Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a
network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2)
A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a disk
partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to store files or as
part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say this is an extended
filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three filesystems meaning that one
has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an incredibly important difference
between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains. Some programs will operate directly on
sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or seriously corrupt any current filesystem.
However, most programs operate at the filesystem level, and subsequently will not operate correctly
on a disk or partition that either does not contain a

The Concerning Issue of Air Pollution
One of the most concerning issues that has affected the entire world is air pollution, but we do not
seemed to see it as a serious problem to take care off until now. Scientist from the World Health
Organization released information on their research that was taken place in 2012. About 7 million
lives around the world was claimed by air pollution and more than one third were from fast
developing countries from India to Japan, but China was the most concentrated area of air pollution.
China has a goal to urbanize very quickly that the cities do not think about planning on proper waste
dumping and helping the environment. The mast movement of urbanization will affect the farmers
greatly because they rely on the environment to be clean and using the sun to help grown their crops.
The World Bank study offered advice to China that building dense cities will be more efficient so the
people in China could avoid larger risk of pollution from long commutes traveling and high energy
consumption. China did listen to the advice but they still want to reach their goal. China wants about
60 percent of the population to be living in cities by 2020, as of right now they are at 54 percent of
their goal. The World Bank and World Health Organization said the greatest threats to human health
are burning noxious fuels from coal, wood, and animal waste. (Jacobs and Johnson, 2014) China s
largest reason for air pollution is the use of coal, because two thirds of the country uses it for energy.

The Studio System In The Golden Age Of Hollywood
The continuing success of the film industry and the subsequent ticket sale receipts proved that the
American public was interested in motion pictures and willing to pay for it. The introduction of sound
and an ever increasing production value was putting customers into seats. The idea was to get the
public out of the house and into the theater, give them what they wanted and thus help them forget the
Depression and the anxieties caused by the events leading up to the Second World War (Barsam 427).

The North Shore Animal League
I ve created a campaign for the North Shore Animal League and it will be based on animal rights. The
goal I want my message to achieve is how it s not acceptable for animals to be abused and abandoned.
I ve chosen animal rights as my issue because upon growing up in Brooklyn I ve encountered many
dogs who were abused by their owners and were able to get away with it which really upset me. A
propaganda campaign is needed to raise public awareness for the animals that are abused and
homeless in hopes of people having a heart and adopting them. The North Shore Animal League will
first discuss animal rights and how animal abuse and homelessness is at an all time high today among
animals. There will also be various pictures and statistics shown to offer the audience insight on which
dog and cat breeds are the most abused and homeless. For example, due to their small size and
temperament with people Chihuahuas are among one of the most abused and homeless dog breeds.
The organization will then discuss their plan to remedy the issue of animal abuse and homelessness by
opening up animal shelters in urban areas in Staten Island and Brooklyn to lower animal abuse and
homelessness. These shelters will provide the animal s food, water, and medicine, which are the main
necessities for them to survive. By opening these new shelters, it will ensure the animal s safety and
well being until people are ready to adopt and bring them home. Twitter and WordPress are the two

Blue Jays Case Study
The Toronto Blue Jays recent success, shown in large by the team s first playoff berth in
22 years, has boosted ticket prices at an exponential rate. Through the use of economic concepts and
the book Cocktail Party Economics, the change in prices can be explained further in depth.
While any Blue Jays enthusiast could tell that the price boost is due to the increase in the team s
popularity, one with a working knowledge of economics could explain that the price increase is a
factor of scarcity, demand equilibrium.
Scarcity, simply put, is the underlying reason why economics and markets exist: the fact that there is
not enough of a good for everyone who wants one to have one. In Cocktail Party
Economics, the author gives an example of having 10 stones that 20 different ... Show more content

There is a limited number of seats in a stadium, and thus there is a limit to the number of tickets to

After the Jays improved performance in the regular season and the increased popularity of the team, it
would be easy to simply say that playoff tickets are in higher demand. However, we must turn to
economics to explain why demand has increased. Demand refers to how much of a good the market
will buy at any given price. For this reason, it is important to understand that price changes, whether
they be increasing or decreasing, do not change demand they change the quantity demanded. During
the first half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays had a worse record and were not expected to be in
the playoff team for that simple reason that they rarely sold out their games, despite the tickets being
at a lower price point than present. However, today tickets sell out mere hours after being put to
market as consumer preferences changed in favour of the team. Cocktail Party Economics gives the

Preamble Persuasive Essay
The Preamble is an encouraging document. I believe the tone of the writing is determined and
idealistic. The government might not do things for us. For America to be free, people have to be

the Congress has the most power. First, I think this because the Congress makes the laws. Secondly,
the Congress can impeach the people that serve for the United States. Lastly, the Congress can amend
the constitution. These are my three subclaims that I used to maintain my claim that the Congress has
the most power in our country.
The first subclaim I think would defend my claim is that the Congress makes the laws. I used articles
to find evidence to backup my claim. In the articles it stated that the Congress makes the laws then the
president approves and executes them. Which in my words means that the congress makes the laws
and the president says it s okay. This is one subclaim that I used to maintain my claim that the
Congress has the most power in our country. I used this subclaim because they have a big duty to

The strict regulations for foreign VCs such as a minimum required investment of USD 1 million and
the minimum number of employees to hire are the fixed costs to the foreign VCs investment in Korean
startups and SMEs, he said. Mr. Lim contended that venture capital investment regulations must be
eased not only to attract foreign venture capitalists but also to provide startups and VCs a more
convenient platform for exits through initial public offerings (IPOs) or merge and acquisitions (M As).
Furthermore, Mr. Lim observed that excessive regulations in other areas also prevent a robust growth
of startup ecosystems. Specifically, the government s positive list approach to regulations preventing
new services such as peer to peer (P2P) lending and Uber must be changed into a negative list

Controversial Roles of Chaebols in Building the ROK s Startup Ecosystem

the CCEIs dependence on chaebols for incubating startups and SMEs. The structure of CCEIs under

In the modern kitchen, copper cannot be cleaned in dishwashers and has to be done by hand. Some

It has been argued that Canadian environmentalism occurred in a series of waves throughout the
countries growth and development. Upon colonization the Canadian landscape was abundant in
resources, the opportunities limitless. Over the course of a century industrialization had swept the
nation. The rapid depletion of resources initiated the development of numerous private organizations
that sought to control, maintain, and ensure longevity of such resources. This force would continue to

Gradually conservationist efforts of resource preservation developed, characterizing North America s
first wave of environmentalism.
Individuals involved within Canada s forestry industry developed many of the earliest conservation
efforts. The rapid depletion of Canadian forests forced many to advocate for the development of
controlled harvesting and reserved areas. By 1900, the Canadian Forestry Association was established.
Despite Canada s earliest efforts, their neighbours to the south were generally further advanced with
their efforts. Such gap in national efforts can be viewed as a matter of population differences,
industrial expansion, and economic circumstances. The American settlements were much further
developed in many respects than their counterparts, and had demonstrated anthropogenic harm
throughout their growth. In 1909, American President Theodore Roosevelt, invited both Mexico and
Canada to join the United States at the North American Conservation Conference. This conference
would lead to the establishment of Canada s Commission of Conservation.
Canada s Commission of Conservation developed recommendations and environmental ethics that can
be viewed as the seeds of modern environmentalism. The development of national parks also
illustrates the difference between American and Canadian conservation. In 1885, Banff became
Canada s first national park, while their neighbours had established their first national park,

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, one of the world s most densely developed megacities, and

Region (JMR) is officially known as Jabodetabek, a name formed by combining the initial syllables of

As a result of the rapid urbanization and growing economic prosperity, motorization in Jabodetabek
has been promoted at a higher rate. The JMR, consequently, faces paralyzing traffic jams due to the
poor plans, coordination and appropriate governance at different levels, i.e. national, metropolitan, and
local levels. The region virtually has no established and formally predesigned system of metropolitan
governance such as the specific legal regulations on land use (Putra, Woltjer and Tan 2016, 171).
Review of Literature
Based on the aforementioned spatial pattern, the development practice in the fringe of Jakarta can be
characterized as an urban sprawl (Bertaud 2001). It goes without saying that such developments would
lead to quite a few negative externalities, notably environmental problems, such as the degradation of
water quality in the area due to land conversion and more pollution due to heavy traffic congestion
(Firmanlda and Dharmapatni 1994).
More importantly, however, the sprawling urban region significantly influences the social practices of
those underprivileged, impoverished people. In particular, as the city grows, the spatial separation of
city centers (such as employment) and housing affects women because they are most frequently
responsible for household related activities such as housework, shopping, medical care, and other
types of chores, both young and old (Turner 2013, 4). As women are also

and strategy were invented by the Revolution. Some of the improvements we black powder cannons,
conical bullets and rifles. It went from gigantic steel clad naval vessels that ran the seas to the tanks
that ran the lands, then it went to the new airplanes that ruled the skies and even after that the atomic
bomb was created. The gunpowder has been around for a while but with all the new technology it has
been improved. The invention of interchangeable parts made a lot of weapons more better like the
rifles and handguns. It made it a lot easier to just get a new part for your gun instead of having to get a

A History Of Native American Mascots
Imagine this: thousands of stands congregating in a stadium to cheer on their football team. They are
all dressed up in their football jerseys and have their face painted to support their beloved football
team. Their mascot? The blacks. On all of their jerseys, flags, on the field have their mascot painted
on. The mascot is a derogatory depiction of the average black person and the stereotypes that are often
associated with black people. How is this scenario of having a black person as a mascot any different
than having an Indian or Native American as a mascot? It is not any different. Mascots such as the
Cleveland Indians and the Washington Redskins are derogatory and offense depictions of Native
Americans, and schools and organizations that allow these mascots to stay in place are promoting
racism. Many schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethics Of Care Essay
The ethics of care may be a normative moral theory: a theory concerning what makes actions
virtuously right or wrong. It s one amongst a cluster of normative moral theories that were developed
by feminists within the half of the 20th century. Whereas consequentialist and deontological moral
theories emphasize universal standards and non partisanship, ethics of care emphasize the importance
of response. Ethics of care contrasts with additional well known moral views, like consequentialist
theories and deontological theories. This kind of outlook is what feminist critics decision a justice
view of morality. A morality is a care that rests on the understanding of relationships as a response to a
different in their terms.
While some feminists have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This projected paradigm shift in ethics encourages that an ethic of caring to be the social responsibility
of each man and girls. Responsibility so as to worry, we have a tendency to should take it upon
ourselves, so responsibility. The matter related to this second moral component of responsibility is that
the question of obligation. The obligation is common if not already tied to the pre established social
group and cultural norms and roles. Tronto makes the hassle to differentiate the terms responsibility
and obligation with regards to the ethics of care. Responsibility is ambiguous, wherever as obligation
refers to things where action or reaction is due, in the case of a legal contract. This ambiguity permits
for ebb and flow in and between category structures and gender roles, and to different socially created
roles that may bind responsibility to those solely appropriate to these roles. The definition of an ethic
of care is ambiguous due partly to the death of a central role it plays in ethical theory. She argues that
considering philosophy is engaged with human goodness, and then care would seem to assume a big
role during this form of philosophy. However, this is often not the case

Henry James’ the Turn of the Screw Essay
Henry James The Turn of the Screw is written with one clear and true ending where Miles dies and the
readers are left to guess the rest for themselves. Or is it? Right from the prologue, a reader may
assume that Miles and Douglas are indeed the same person, but when the reader sees, and his little
heart, dispossessed, had stopped. P.403 one dismisses that theory as lost, but it isn t. Perhaps one
ignore the idea because of many unclear allusions to discrepancies. James use of deliberate vagueness
was intended to create a second plausible ending. One may ask, how is it possible that Douglas and
Miles are the same person if Miles died? James described that Miles heart had stopped. But there are
two ways to interpret this, that Miles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
304), and the governess the age of twenty, the youngest of several daughters of a poor country parson,
had, at the age of twenty, on taking service for the first time in the schoolroom, come up to London.
(P. 295) And its already apparent that they were ten years apart. There are many details about both
Miles and Douglas, and all it takes is a bit of incentive to connect the two. Douglas clearly cares about
the governess, and maintains personal connection to the story even though it s been sitting in a drawer
for twenty years. Douglas feels attached to the story because he lived the story so many years ago.(as
Miles) Nobody but me, till now, has ever heard. It s quite too horrible. (p. 292) This shows that the
manuscript isn t just a good ghost story for him to tell people because he s never shared it before. He
also finds that Douglas s audience is more perceptive than he appears ready. They make inferences
about he and his love, and Douglas reveals bits and pieces about her. I liked her extremely and am
glad to this day to think she liked me, too. If she hadn t she wouldn t have told me.(p. 293) In the
story, she mentions several times that Miles was the most beautiful boy that she had ever laid eyes on,
and over infatuation with the boy like that would easily lead Miles to believe he was the object of her
utmost affection. To add to the fact that the woman he was in love with was the governess was when

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Analysis
Behavior isn t something someone has. Rather, it emerges from the interaction of a person s biology,
past experiences, and immediate context.
― L. Todd Rose Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder also known as ADHD refers to a syndrome
in which some combination of hyperactivity, impulsivity and difficulty with concentration or attention
is severe enough to cause significant difficulties in a child s life. Many people with this disorder are
unable to sit still, finish tasks, plan ahead or be fully aware of what is going on around them. Everyone
tends to think that ADHD children have a behavioral issues, this is somewhat true. L.Todd Rose, in the
quote above, stated that this disorder doesn t just affect the child but also the ones around ... Show

The scientist used a technique that demonstrated a link between a person s ability to pay continued
attention and the level of activity in the brain. The investigators found important differences between
people who have ADHD and those who don t. In people that have ADHD, the brain areas that control
attention used less glucose, indicating that they were less active. It appears from the research that a
lower level of activity in some parts of the brain may cause inattention (Matthews, 2002). However,
scientist at NIMH and other research institutions did research on why there is less activity in the areas
of the brain that control attention. They were tracking clues to determine what might prevent nerve
cells from forming the proper connections. The factors that they were studying included drug use
during pregnancy, toxins and genetics. Research shows that a mother s use of cigarettes, alcohol and
other drugs during pregnancy may have damaging effects on the unborn child s developing brain
(Kustscher, 2014). It appears that alcohol and the nicotine in cigarettes may distort developing nerve
cells. As well as drugs seem to affect the development of normal development of brain receptors.
These parts of the brain cells that are being damaged help to transmit incoming signals from our skin,

Graduated License Program Advantages
A graduated license program would and has proven far more effective than raising the driving age to
eighteen would be. Teens shouldn t be immediately given the privilege of driving as soon as they turn
sixteen. There is no possible way a written test can fully prepare them for the responsibilities and risks
that come with driving. A program that gradually grants them that privilege through hands on practice
and adult supervision would help teens be less inexperienced on the road. Age isn t the issue, it s lack
of experience and carelessness. GDL is the blatantly correct choice. I don t fully support either option,
because even with a graduated license program, new drivers and experienced drivers alike may still

The Wage Gap Is A Conflict Within The Work Force
The occupational wage gap has always been and still continues to be a conflict within the work force.
The gender wage gap is defined as the average income of a male compared to the average income of a
female. There have been a few laws that were put into effect due to women s efforts to create fairness
in the workplace. The first law, called the Equal Pay Act of 1963 signed into law by President John F.
Kennedy, requires men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work (U.S.
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). The Paycheck Fairness Act is a recent extension of the
Equal Pay Act, it gives workers added protection to take action in the wage discrimination (National
Women s Law Center). When comparing full time and year round workers, 23.5% is the gap between
the annual male earnings compared to women and that has not changed much since 2001 (Burns, 1).
In the profession I have chosen, there is quite a difference in dominant gender between dental
hygienists and dentists. Dental hygiene is a very female dominated field of work, although few male
dental hygienists exist. Due to the gender roles our society has molded, hygiene is usually compared
to nursing because it revolves around care giving service and many believe that is not a task men are
usually willing to do. Contrary to belief, men can be just as, if not more, nurturing than women. On
the other hand, women are perfectly capable of becoming dentists as well. The culture we were raised

Semiotics Of The Simpsons Essay Madison Mac Kinnon Mr. Aerni English III 17 May 2015 Simpsons Semiotics The Simpsons is not just another animated television show, it is the animated television show. The Simpsons is now credited as the longest runnning american show, with 384 episodes forming eighteen seasons. It s longvity has not gone unnoticed either. The Simpsons has won many awards and had this year received its 9th Emmy Award for best animated program. Aside from their successes The Simpsons as an icon can be analyzed with semiotics. They are symbolic, expressive, and represent many different ideologies. The Simpsons are a yellow skinned family with 3 children, a dog, a cat, and 2 cars. They are a middle class family living in a small town, Springfield. They represent the average middle class american family with each character in the show representing another symbol separately. • 4. Richard Attenborough s Film Gandhi The topic assigned to our group was Celebrity. So we were supposed to select a narrative that talk about the same. According to Oxford dictionary celebrity means someone who is famous or the state of being famous (in today s world Celebrity is usually used to identify someone in sports or entertainment sector). A political leader seemed to be a celebrity according to this meaning and that is the reason why I selected Gandhi, as celebrity. The specific text that I worked on was Richard Attenborough s movie Gandhi released in the year 1982. There are lot of other sources about Gandhi. One could work on Gandhi s autobiography or other forms of literary narratives that explains Gandhi as a celebrity. But a movie about Gandhi seemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned before, there are some alterations to the actual story of the movie along with some factual errors presented in the movie. The story of the movie, as the name suggests, is about Gandhi the political leader. To narrow down further, the director of the movie is looking only at the political aspect of Gandhi. Here other aspects life the social life, moral life and religious aspects are omitted. These aspects about Gandhi are also important while talking about the story of Gandhi the person. Talking about the story of Gandhi the movie, the time line starts with Gandhi s youth and days he worked as a lawyer in South Africa. Therefore the director is not mentioning anything about the childhood and teenage of Gandhi or his family background. It is not a complete biographical movie as it is neglecting the initial years of the protagonist, in its narration. The plot can be easily distinguished from the story of the movie. The plot of the movie begins with the final moments in Gandhi s life. The movie begins with the shot where Godse approaches Gandhi and kills him. Then the story flashes back to 55 years. It shows how a 23 year old Gandhi is facing racial discrimination during a train journey (1893 South Africa). Most of the scenes shown in the movie is part of this flash back. The jump from ... The social part: refers to interacting with other people by sharing information with them and receiving information from them. The media part: refers to an instrument of communication, like the internet (while TV, radio, and newspapers are examples of more traditional forms of media). Social media are web based communication tools that enable people to interact with each other by both sharing and consuming information. However, social media may have some side effects such as cyberbullying, which may have negative impacts on the life of people, especially children and teenagers. Cyberbullying can be defined as aggressive, intentional actions performed by an individual or a group of people via digital communication methods such as sending messages and posting comments against a victim. Different from traditional bullying that usually occurs at school during face to face communication, cyberbullying on social media can take place anywhere at any time. For bullies, they are free to hurt their peers feelings because they do not need to face someone and can hide behind the Internet. For victims, they are easily exposed to harassment since all of us, especially youth, are constantly connected to Internet or social media. As reported cyberbullying victimization rate ranges from 10% to 40%. In the United States, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. John Hunter Anatomists Anatomy, the study of the human body, is a discipline of the medical sciences that flourished beyond precedent during the 17th and 18th centuries in Western Europe. During this time, many physicians, anatomists, and doctors began to not only investigate anatomy more seriously, but also to teach anatomy to more people. Dissections of cadavers became more common at learning establishments and more accepted by the general public, and by government authorities. Anatomical theatres were constructed for the mass teaching of dissections, and any and all bodies from criminal hangings were donated as cadavers to the universities. As trends grow and become popular problems are bound to become known. In anatomy, this problem was the shortage of cadavers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John, the younger of the two, started off as a student of his older brother William, and went on to have a highly successful career, often seen as a more influential anatomist of the two. John Hunter studied and dissected every animal he could, comparing animal and human bodies. John Hunter is credited with the naming of several body components including all of the teeth. On top of that, he discovered the embryonic development similarities between species, as well as discovering the paths of nerves and blood vessels through the skull. Through his work on the circulation of blood, he paved the pathway for what is known today as vascular surgery. Another great anatomist, Alexander Monro, was appointed to teach anatomy as a professor, and in turn became the founder of the Edinburgh Medical School. His son, followed by his grandson, continued his legacy as a professor of anatomy and head of Edinburgh Medical School, although his grandson met with little success as he did not possess the abilities of his father and ... There are people in society who think that their race is better than all and some who just believe that certain races can fit together and others do not belong with them. One of the main race problems that people see is between Caucasians and African Americans. This started back in the 1900 s when African Americans where slaves and were segregated from Caucasians. • 8. The Physics Of Fractions As A Child Introduction: Ever since I first learned about fractions as a child, I was always heavily agitated by the fact that every time I would ask my teacher about dividing by zero, or have a calculator perform a equation where a non zero number was divided by zero, I would just be told there was no solution. I wondered for years about why there simply was no practical way to express a number divided by zero, until I learned about something strangely similar to dividing a number by zero, being black holes, or a gravitational singularity (a single point in space with a certain mass, equating to a density where the mass of the object is divided by zero). Just like dividing by zero, black holes are usually represented as an undefined point in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A counterargument could be immediately made that black holes do have a volume, but for clarification, this is in terms of its singularity, not its event horizon (or the critical radius), which is the black part of the hole that light does not escape from, as it is the point in which light can no longer escape, as the escape velocity (the speed required to break free of an object s gravity, according to physlink.com) is greater than the speed of light. Now that this is established, representing the infinite density of a black hole is difficult to understand, similarly in terms of the function 1/x, because like how the x value on the graph approaches the asymptote of zero on the x axis from positive infinity, the y value gradually leaves the asymptote of zero on the y axis to approach infinity, being not the largest possible number, but instead a filled space that has no bounds, such as a star that is shining light into all directions in space forever, therefore filing this ongoing void with light. That is infinity, so in terms of this essay, the light could be represented as 1/∞. If the light were to be replaced with mass, the volume of said mass would effectively be the opposite of a black hole, being an infinite number of some sort, with the density being calculated by dividing it s mass by infinity of some sort, representing it s volume. In simple fractions, they could likely be expressed as a circle or some other shape split into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is this process that leads people to question, is a child s development influenced by genetics or their environment? This long debate has been at the forefront of psychology for countless decades now and is better known as Nature versus Nurture . The continuous controversy on whether or not children develop their psychological attributes based on genetics (nature) or the way in which they have been raised (nurture) has pondered the minds of psychologists for years. Through thorough experiments, studies, and discussions however, it is easy to see that nurture is far more important in the development of a human than nature. The Nature versus Nurture argument can be traced back many millenniums ago. In 350 B.C., philosophers asked the same question on human behaviour. Plato and Aristotle were two philosophers that each had two diverse views on the matter. Plato believed that knowledge and behaviour were due to inherent factors, but environmental factors still played a role in the equation. Conversely, Aristotle had different views. He believed in the idea of Tabula Rasa . The Blank Slate theory supported the nurture side of the argument and believed that everyone was born with a Tabula Rasa , Latin for Blank Slate . In this paper, we first review some classical methods like AIC, BIC, Mallow s Cp, then discuss some regularization methods including Lasso, adaptive Lasso, elastic net, adaptive elastic net and group Lasso. We also consider the application of regularization methods in generalized linear model, Cox s model and time series analysis. At the end, we give suggestions for future work. 1 Classical Method The problem of variable selection is always the center of statistical research. Some classical methods like best subset selection, forward selection and backward elimination are proposed to handing massive data set. These methods are basically based on the idea of grid search. For example, the best subset selection searches the optimal model by all possible combination of the predictors. The forward selection find the best model by adding one predictor at each time, while the backward elimination finds the best model by removing one predictor at each time. Although these methods are powerful and accurate, they also cost a lot. For instance, suppose our model has 10 predictors, if we run the best subset selection to get the optimal model, we need to compare 1024 combinations of the predictors. It is unrealistic to perform such method in our real life because it time consuming. As a result, more efficient methods to solve the problem of variable selection are urgently desired. In ... Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he suffers from PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to Nick s mental wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style, the Iceberg principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without mentioning actual theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by simply looking at the text itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character development of Nick must be examined. This is possible since Nick Adams is a recurring character of Hemingway s stories. The two preceding stories of Big Two Hearted River , Now I lay me and A Way you ll Never Be , directly discusses Nick s suffering from shell shock and how he comforts himself by returning to Big Two Hearted river in his mind. The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3) Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2) A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. The Concerning Issue of Air Pollution One of the most concerning issues that has affected the entire world is air pollution, but we do not seemed to see it as a serious problem to take care off until now. Scientist from the World Health Organization released information on their research that was taken place in 2012. About 7 million lives around the world was claimed by air pollution and more than one third were from fast developing countries from India to Japan, but China was the most concentrated area of air pollution. China has a goal to urbanize very quickly that the cities do not think about planning on proper waste dumping and helping the environment. The mast movement of urbanization will affect the farmers greatly because they rely on the environment to be clean and using the sun to help grown their crops. The World Bank study offered advice to China that building dense cities will be more efficient so the people in China could avoid larger risk of pollution from long commutes traveling and high energy consumption. China did listen to the advice but they still want to reach their goal. China wants about 60 percent of the population to be living in cities by 2020, as of right now they are at 54 percent of their goal. The World Bank and World Health Organization said the greatest threats to human health are burning noxious fuels from coal, wood, and animal waste. The goal I want my message to achieve is how it s not acceptable for animals to be abused and abandoned. I ve chosen animal rights as my issue because upon growing up in Brooklyn I ve encountered many dogs who were abused by their owners and were able to get away with it which really upset me. A propaganda campaign is needed to raise public awareness for the animals that are abused and homeless in hopes of people having a heart and adopting them. The North Shore Animal League will first discuss animal rights and how animal abuse and homelessness is at an all time high today among animals. There will also be various pictures and statistics shown to offer the audience insight on which dog and cat breeds are the most abused and homeless. For example, due to their small size and temperament with people Chihuahuas are among one of the most abused and homeless dog breeds. The organization will then discuss their plan to remedy the issue of animal abuse and homelessness by opening up animal shelters in urban areas in Staten Island and Brooklyn to lower animal abuse and homelessness. These shelters will provide the animal s food, water, and medicine, which are the main necessities for them to survive. By opening these new shelters, it will ensure the animal s safety and well being until people are ready to adopt and bring them home. Twitter and WordPress are the two types of ... Through the use of economic concepts and the book Cocktail Party Economics, the change in prices can be explained further in depth. While any Blue Jays enthusiast could tell that the price boost is due to the increase in the team s popularity, one with a working knowledge of economics could explain that the price increase is a factor of scarcity, demand equilibrium. Scarcity, simply put, is the underlying reason why economics and markets exist: the fact that there is not enough of a good for everyone who wants one to have one. After the Jays improved performance in the regular season and the increased popularity of the team, it would be easy to simply say that playoff tickets are in higher demand. However, we must turn to economics to explain why demand has increased. Demand refers to how much of a good the market will buy at any given price. For this reason, it is important to understand that price changes, whether they be increasing or decreasing, do not change demand they change the quantity demanded. During the first half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays had a worse record and were not expected to be in the playoff team for that simple reason that they rarely sold out their games, despite the tickets being at a lower price point than present.
