Discuss the nature of the fraud and the impact to the company as a result of the fraudulent activity.
Electronic Game Card Inc. develops, produces, and markets electronic, credit card sized games to the
casino, lottery, toy, game, education, and promotional industry worldwide. Chief executive officer Lee
Cole and chief financial officer Linden Boyne secretly funneled millions of shares of the company s

It is unclear as to how the cover up was perpetrated. The day to day processing of documents would
likely have been completed by lower ranking employees, who may or may not have been aware of the
situation. At times, lower level employees choose to do what is asked, even if they feel that something
is wrong. They point the blame for why a certain procedure was followed on their supervisors as they
fear they will lose their job. It is management s responsibility to set the tone of ethical behavior within
the company. Mr. Lee s and Mr. Boyne s lack of integrity and honesty could have filtered down to the
employees, who chose to ignore the unethical behavior.
Discuss the impact to the company or brand as a result of the fraudulent activity. On February 10,
2010, the company postponed a conference call that was meant to discuss vital internal issues within
the company, which created an instant sixteen percent drop in stock price (Shareholders Foundation,

The Integration Of Green Logistic
Integration of Green Logistic Introduction Success of an environmentally friendly supply chain will
require an integration of efforts, such as reduction in transportation requirements, implementation of
reverse logistics practices that are in harmony with environmental considerations, and an intuitive
infrastructure which reduces adverse measures directly impacting the environment. The United States,
being one of the top countries in leading eco friendly supply chain, has a friendly supply chain
aspiration for a company to be successful. Many other countries try to be correct in flourishing
possible developments in producing consumer goods that will attract them to a large fairly straight
forward company. Manufacturers, retailers, and companies in the hospitality sector are valuable
contributors to a greener supply chain surround themselves with thousands of proponents, goods, and
services that maintain a successful ecosystem. Wal Mart is a powerful organization who has developed
itself into the world s largest retailer, eco friendly, and supply chain company (Bonner, 2010).
Becoming an eco friendly supply chain managerial company, a company must focus their efforts
reducing waste to nearly nothing, utilizing 100 percent renewable energy, and selling sustainable
products. Apple, Inc, as well as, Wal Mart, has focused their priorities on creating an eco friendly
supply chain that is competing with multiple factories throughout the world. By developing an eco

Abuse in Foster Care Essay
About two thirds of children admitted to public care have experienced abuse and neglect, and many
have potentially been exposed to domestic violence, parental mental illness and substance abuse
(Dregan and Gulliford). These children are being placed into foster care so that they can get away
from home abuse, not so they can move closer towards it. The foster children s varied outcomes of
what their adult lives are is because of the different experiences they grew up with in their foster
homes. The one third of those other foster children usually has a better outcome in adult life than the
other two thirds, which is a big problem considering the high percentage of children being abused in
their foster homes. Although, the foster care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the parents of the foster children are affected by their children being put into foster homes and
therefore has complex feelings towards the program. Parents usually put up a defensive shield when
people tell them how to raise their child, and they think the foster care program is supposedly raising
their children how they should raise them and not how they currently are raising them. When the

1989 Tiananmen Massacre Essay
On April 17th, 1989, university students gathered in Tiananmen Square, the national landmark which
has held important national and international events throughout history. The death of Yaobang Hu, a
resigned Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary, resulted in massive mourning by
students. Over time, the mourning turned into a demonstration: university students in China protested,
viewing the CCP as a corrupt government. The demonstration grew due to the belief that democratic
ideals would repeal the corruption that was emerging. However, the movement itself was seen as a
rebellion against the CCP. After two months of protesting, the government decided to impose martial

How Did The Crusades Affect The Medieval World
IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly
impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact
with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as
well as knowledge. Merchants in Italy converted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that
would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many
more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the
development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to
Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West.

Christians were introduced to Arabic philosophy and science, and along with this came new religious

that people had the knowledge and resources to read the bible, some felt as though this clashed with
the previous actions of the church. Although this seemed like a time for religious tolerance after such a
conflict fueled by faith, the Reconquista in Spain expelled Muslims out of Spain and those who did
not convert to Christianity were burned at the steak. The crusades set the foundation for the Age of

Morality In Frankenstein
The conflicts of science and morality has been discussed throughout time, whether it be in popular
literature, and fiction as well as in different statements and studies by people in different fields of
knowledge, such as sociology to mathematics. In some ways, science can be right as it will help man
eventually fix any of the problems he or she may have. However, it could also have a negative effect
on man, meaning that humans will go through a serious moral degradation since they are creating life
through science not natural.
In the times of Frankenstein, people looked down upon toying with human life, a lot of the reason for
that was that they believed that God should be the only one to create life, not humans. Everywhere

A Day I Was A New Beginning For My Life
Settling in new country isn t always easy. A day I arrived in Vermont seemed to be a new beginning
for my life. I came to Vermont on December 09th, 2008. I was about 14 years old, and I had no idea
what I was thinking of. I was so confused, and I didn t speak English at all. I thought I was lost
because I saw so many diverse people I ve never seen in my life. I felt uncomfortable to be here
because I didn t understand what it was going on this state. I thought that I was in wrong place
because it wasn t easy for me to start living in Vermont. Living in Vermont made feel like I was totally
blank in my mind because I felt dislocated and insecure. For example, I was scared to go outside and
hang out with other friends because I thought they would hit me or laugh at me. I remember playing
around with my neighbors; they came to me and asked me if I could play with them. I was totally lost
because I didn t understand what they asked me. They kept mumbling words I couldn t understand at
all. I felt unwanted to be with them because they didn t speak my native language. As I left them, they
started laughing so hard, and I was afraid of asking them what they were laughing. As long as they
kept laughing, I suddenly ran to my room with anger. When I got into my room, I started nodding my
head and wondering what I could I do to just forget what I saw a outside. I was so worried because I

The Collegiate Experience Of Student Athletes
The collegiate experience of student athletes varies across the sports played, divisions, and grade
level. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience than other
athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the college experience is
whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015). That decision holds
implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less as a student tend to have
lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other students. Those that identify as
students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an
average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). Those that identify more as athletes have an average gpa of 2.9,
spend 35 hours a week on athletics, spend 36 on academics, and miss an average of 1.7 classes
(NCAA, 2015). The amount of time spent toward various activities varies across different sports and
the level of commitment they require. Despite this student athletes in all sports generally commit large
amounts of time to both athletics and academic endeavors (NCAA, 2015). The majority of student
athletes report that they are actively involved in their campus community outside of athletics and
believe that their athletics participation has benefited them socially (NCAA, 2015). A research study
done by the NCAA examined social participation across several platforms. They are as follows;

A Brief Look at Igor Sikorsky
Igor Sikorsky widened the field of aviation throughout his life with inventions that caught the interest
of the world. In the early 1920 s, after successfully building a four engine biplane, Sikorsky began his
work on amphibian aircraft. The aircraft proved to be versatile with its ability to take off and land on
an airstrip or in the water. Sikorsky increased the size and maximum range of his designs until
producing the S 42 Flying Clipper. His line of amphibian planes became the precursor to commercial
transoceanic flight. He played an important role in both the introduction of amphibian aircraft and its
transition into commercial aviation. Sikorsky also contributed heavily to the development of the
helicopter and research of rotary flight design. His design concept that had one main lifting rotor in
combination with a smaller rotor to counteract torque is still used in modern helicopters. The
helicopters maneuverability and ability to lift off vertically allowed it to fly into and out of terrain not
fit for normal aircraft. He designed the R 4 which became widely produced and utilized by the
military mainly for delivery of supplies and search and rescue. The company he began in New York,
now called Sikorsky Aircraft, produced the S 70 Black Hawk helicopter in response to the Army s
need for a durable transport helicopter in 1972. Sikorsky Aircraft manufactured over 900 aircraft for
the Army by the end of 1989 and a family of helicopters spawned from variations of the

The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing
The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as
a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I
hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to
write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with
the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in
general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party
and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common
desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight
children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish.
Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby.
Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for
every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. Besides the fact that Harriet does not have easy
pregnancies and all the work she has to do makes her completely exhausted, she enjoys having a
house full of people and to impose on them with her perfect life. Everything is just like Harriet and

The King, A Man With Broad Shoulders And A Muscular Build
This morning, the king received word that a fire snorting dragon was again terrorizing the countryside.
It is scaring the people of his kingdom, and they want to leave their land. He summoned his legion of
knights and advisors to the castle for a meeting. Once before the king sent the royal knights into the
area, they tried to stop the giant lizard from roaming the lowlands and raising havoc in the kingdom.
The knights, in their shiny armor, could not slay the animal. Only chase him back into the mountains.
Should he return to the valleys and fields they would have no option, but to slay him. The king, a tall
man with broad shoulders and a muscular build, is a respected leader on or off the battlefield. He
ordered the tables in the grand ballroom, pushed together to form a square letter U. The knights and
advisers will be sitting on the outside of the tables. The king, wearing his blue robe with the royal
crest, will walk back and forth on the inside of the tables. Looking troubled, the king rested his right
hand on the handle of his sword. As he walked by looking at the people sitting on the other side of the
table, he would, from time to time stroke his white beard with his left hand. With a stern and
demanding look on his face, the king made eye contact with each person sitting on the other side of
the table as he walked by. Stopping when he got to Titus, the king looked the boy for a moment, and

significant decade in Canada s vast history in terms of transforming or changing the country.
The historical occurrence known as the Great Canadian Flag Debate brought major changes to
Canada. Prior to Canada adopting its current sovereign state flag, a number of big events encouraged
Canadians to think about what it meant to be a Canadian, Canadians began to question their flag, they
wondered if their flag truly represented what it meant to be a Canadian, many people wanted a new
flag of Canada as they felt that their flag did not truly represent what it meant to be a Canadian. In the
year 1958, an extensive poll was taken in Canada, it related to the attitudes that adult Canadians had
towards the flag of their country; of those who expressed opinions, over 80% wanted a sovereign state
flag entirely different from that of any other country, and 60% wanted a sovereign state flag that
would showcase their beloved maple leaf. Some people liked this idea of adopting a new sovereign
state flag as they wanted their flag to be uniquely Canadian, however some people did not like the idea
as they were content with the flag that they had,

The Negative Effects of Concentrated Animal Feeding...
Introduction
Where do happy cows actually come from? Most of our minds create an image of large fields where
cows and other animals are free to roam and graze. In reality, however, most farms today are actually
large corporate factories, not the vast fields and red barns that most Americans imagine. These
consolidated operations known as CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) are able to
produce meats in high volume but have little to no regard for animal or human welfare, the
environment, or food safety. CAFOs in the United States are able to produce and process these large
amounts of meat year round by providing sheltered farms for a range of livestock such as cattle,
swine, and sheep. However, within these farms animals are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Recent outbreaks of strains of the influenza only further support stricter regulations on CAFOs. One
such case is the H1N1 epidemic, more commonly known as the swine flu. Since its outbreak in 2009
this particular strain of the flu has infected over 150,000 and killed another 12,000 people in the US
(CDC). It name comes from its alleged origin, a swine CAFO in La Gloria, Mexico operated by
Smithfield Foods, the world largest. The CAFO itself has been described as grotesque because pigs
are crammed into giant building, kept in stalls so small they can t even turn around... The pollution
from their waste is so noxious that you must wear a gas mask to enter the building (Brainard). These
conditions lead to the misuse of antibiotics which results in strains like H1N1 that cannot be treated
with regular antibiotics. If this continues, many of our medicines will become obsolete. Current
statistics show that an estimated 70% of all antibiotics and related drugs used in the United States are
given to food animals to promote faster growth and to hold off diseases in highly crowded CAFOs,
with the resulting total antibiotic resistance already causing U.S. health care $4 billion annually (
Hidden Costs of CAFOs ). With this pressing issue, the EPA needs to change policies in order prevent
epidemics. A closer look reveals that many CAFOs are able to sidestep through

The Awakening Heroine s Journey
Edna Pontellier, from The Awakening by Kate Chopin, finds herself crying for no apparent reason,
with the voice of the sea comforting and inviting her to its depths. It is this moment that Edna realizes
her unhappiness is due to an oppression within her. The Awakening is set in the late nineteenth century
during summer vacation on the island named, Grand Isle, and follows the self discovering journey of
Edna Pontellier. Edna s husband Lèonce Pontellier leaves for a business trip which gives Edna time
alone to spend with a young gentleman named Robert Lebrun, a young flirtatious man that eventually

This shows that Edna uses the power her husband holds as a temporary way to identify herself with
something other than the feminine, in this case his power he holds with money. The state that their
marriage is in can be seen when Edna shares pâtes, French for small pies, with the neighboring women
and they all declare how Mr. Pontellier is the best husband in the world. The narrator uses the third
person limited to show that Edna felt forced to say how she knew of none better. Separation from the
feminine is only the beginning of a heroine s journey, however; it is not completely necessary for
someone to go through the entire heroine s circle, everyone s journey is different. Edna s separation
from the feminine is due to her lack of a role model and also because she lacked a mother figure. It is
mentioned in The Awakening that Edna s mother had passed away which makes the separation from
the mother an easier bond to break. Since Edna had no mother figure she sought approval from a
father figure and began her Identification with the Masculine of a heroine s journey. When she marries
Léonce, he fails to give to her the male figure to look up to and altogether wounds her sense of self
from the lack of someone to follow. This leads into the need to break away from the patriarchy to
pursuit the needs of a woman. Murdock explains this lack of self approval as how women always put
others first, never putting themselves first

The Death Of Trotsky By David Ives
Violence has been a part of plays for centuries. It keeps the play interesting and intriguing, but
however, most of the time there is a greater purpose of violence. When looking for it in plays one
would automatically look for weapons or signs of physically harming someone like. However,
verbiage can be an act of violence as well. The phrase, sticks and stones may break my bones, but
words will never hurt me is false. Your tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to hurt another
person. Like in the play The Stronger by August Strindberg where Miss Y is verbally insulted
countless of times. Whereas in the play Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives one can see
the physical violence by the tragic murder that occurred. After distinguishing where the violence is
coming from one can then analyze the true role of the violence and compare how the violence affect
the dramas.
When looking at The Stronger you can see just how Miss Y in verbally insulted over and over again
by Mrs. X. While Miss Y is just sitting at a table by herself minding her own business when Mrs. X
shows up. During the entire play Miss Y does not say one word while Mrs. X insults her and says rude
things like, Poor Amelia, I pity you, nevertheless, because I knew you are unhappy, unhappy like one
who has been wounded, and angry because you are wounded. () She just assumes that she is unhappy
because she is in a café by herself on a holiday. She does not even ask her if she is unhappy or give

Endurance, Leadership, Attitude, And Perseverance

The Imperial Trans Atlantic Expedition was headed by Ernest Shackleton, an explorer and

chose men with a mixture of skill sets and was sure to consider how each member would fit in with
the team. As a leader he understood when to allow individuals to utilize their strengths while still
leading a holistic team. Shackleton was gifted with an uncanny ability to overcome conflict,

Reflection Paper On Step
I attended the documentary, Step. It followed three high school girls that attended Baltimore
Leadership School for Young Women: Cori Grainger, Tayla Solomon, and Blessin Giraldo. The goal
of this school was for every girl to get accepted to college before graduation. Every girl succeeded, but
it was a tough journey getting there. Their Step team, Lethal Ladies, is what gave them motivation to
achieve their goal, as well as passion, drive, and discipline. It expressed the importance of having
community and having something to push you to succeed. I had no idea what Step was before I
watched this documentary. It was strange that this was such a huge part of these girls lives, yet I had
never heard of it before. Step was so crucial to who they were, giving them motivation and
determination to succeed. I realized, before, that sports teams or extracurriculars provided many
positive gains, but this documentary shed a whole new light on just how beneficial they can be.
DeMeulenaere stated, Not only do coaches inspire college aspirations in students, so do peer
relationships developed through participation in sports. This was very true for the girls on the Step
team. Step not only gave the girls a healthy way to spend their time, but it also gave them a coach that
loved them like family and a team that always had their backs. This brings up the point about how
powerful of an impact something like a Step team can be. What would the girls lives have been like if
they did not have Step? Before watching this documentary, I was blissfully unaware of the
circumstances that some of these Baltimore girls lived in. From the outside, Blessin looked like she
was succeeding in every way. She was drop dead gorgeous, captain of the Lethal Ladies, and appeared
to always be happy and bubbly, based on the outside. As the documentary progressed, what was really
going on in Blessin s life was revealed. Her mom was depressed, her grades were very unsatisfactory,
her attendance was dropping, and her family had many financial struggles. In an intimate scene of
Blessin and a young relative, she started crying because there was no food in the house. She talked
about how she could handle it, but that he was just a little boy and did

Essay On Hydrocarbons
Effective and economical production of hydrocarbons has gained great attention worldwide due to the
increasing demand for oil and the challenges oil companies face to deliver more oil from their
oilfields. Water flood is generally used as an economic and effective method in secondary mode
recovery after primary (natural) driving mechanisms have been depleted. Generally, water flooding
still leaves behind 60 70% of the oil initially in place (OIIP) inside the reservoir and Enhanced Oil
Recovery (EOR) methods are introduced to produce further oil from the reservoir. EOR is simply
defined as the injection of materials that do not naturally exist under the earth s surface to increase the
oil production rate of a reservoir. Primarily, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The addition of alkaline increase the operation efficiency by controlling the adsorption between the
rock formation and chemicals present. The injection of alkaline also generates surface acting agents
when the interaction to certain types of oils in the reservoir occurs (Hill et all, 1973). It is also well
documented that the heavy and more viscous crude oils are the most responsive to alkaline flooding.
Objective of Study
The aim of the final project is to develop a model based on meta analysis of available core flooding
dataset, thus, improving the understanding and underlying mechanisms of chemical EOR. This
required extensive and sophisticated analysis of theoretical background.
Summarizing all the above, the main objectives of this review is as follows:
Study all the evidence supporting chemical flooding in carbonate core flooding experiments. Core
flood experiments give an exact gauge of the oil activation potential through the injection of the
diverse chemicals. The procedure is however exceptionally confounded and can take a very long time
to accurately and successfully complete a solitary core sample, thusly; this paper will be restricted to
published core flood dataset only.
Identify the underlying mechanisms that have been suggested to support chemical flooding and those
that are not in support.
Report all the fundamental issues for the lack of understanding of chemical EOR.
Study the differences in underlying

that they re both wise. the emperor kills the man the save the empire. The woman solves these

Unethical Eugenics
Eugenics and Ethical Controversies Associated With Human Engineering Over the course of Global
History, Eugenics has been used with and without consent of the person involved. In the past,
Germany used Eugenics during concentration camps, and currently, sterilization is still in use. This is
based on the ideology that your past determines your future. For the future, a statement that scientists
are questioning is whether or not Eugenics provides a safer and sounder world, or is it unethical and
immoral?
The Start of Eugenics
In the United States, the founder of Eugenics was Francis Galton. His research was focused on
following family genetic trees and locating it in offspring. His ideas grew a strong following including
Charles Davenport, the man who founded Eugenics Record Office. This was a laboratory with the
goal, to improve the natural, physical, mental and temperamental qualities of the human family.
(Norrgard, 2008, p.1)
Eugenics History
In 1927, Carrie Buck was considered a prime victim to undergo sterilization with the greater purpose
of Eugenics. She was labeled Mentally deficient (DenHoed, 2016, p.1) after becoming pregnant
unwed at the age of seventeen. Shortly afterwards, she was sent away to an institution alongside many
other supposed outcasts. This did not only include physical and mentally challenged people, but also
humans that had traits consisting of alcoholism, prostitution, and drug addiction. This concept is not

Challenges of Homosexuals in the 1960’s
Challenges of Homosexuals in the 1960 s
Abstract
Every day homosexuals face challenges that heterosexuals do not. These challenges include people
giving them looks when they are walking down the street while holding hands with a person of the
same sex. They also face challenges in being accepted as a true family, this is because in many states
same sex marriage is deemed illegal. Over the decades people have become more adjusted to
homosexuals in society. In the movie If Walls Could Talk II Segment I there is a lesbian couple who
are very secretive of their relationship because of the fear of being misjudged. In the time period that
the movie took place people who were gay were look down upon in society. During the movie Abby

The definition of family is a group consisting of one to two parents and their children. This definition
does not say that the parents have to be one male and one female. There are many families that consist
of two female parents or two male and parent and children; you rarely saw this in the 1960s but today
you seemed to see this type of family more frequently.
This film also proved effective that if same sex marriage was legal then Edith would not have had to
face Ted taking her house and her belongings. Once Abby passed away Edith was faced with the fact
that Abby did not have a will that said that the house would be passed onto Edith. Ted; her closest
living relative was to be given all of Abby s belongings by law. If same sex marriage was deemed
legal during that time Edith would rightfully have possession of all of Abby s belongings including the
house. This would also allow Edith to have been able to see Abby before she died because she would
be deemed a family member. They proved this effective because they showed that in the hospital that
even if Edith would have said that she and Abby were together she would still have not been able to
see her legally. The movie also proved this by showing that technically Edith did not have any right to
the house because the mortgage was not in her name regardless of her paying half of the mortgage.
This gave Ted the rightful ownership of the house.

Fluoride In High School Milk Case Study
Fluoride in school milk is now a cause for concern
While the rest of the world campaigns and fights against water fluoridation, it s now been decided that
more than 8000 children in the Blackpool area will begin receiving fluoridated milk after councilors
approved the proposal to introduce it within the town s pre existing free breakfast scheme. The leader
of the Tories however has now called this sudden decision, made by the local government, into
question.
Back in 2013, when this idea was first brought forward, concerns were immediately raised however,
due to conflicting evidence regarding fluoride and its effect on our health, it was unfortunately carried
on through. Due to more recent findings however, Councillor Tony Williams is now urging parents

The one saving grace of this newly implemented scheme is that parents are now able to opt out of the
mass medication should they wish. The group setting up the scheme include Blackpool Council,
Public Health England, Borrow Foundation and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation. The
reason behind it however is simply down to dental health. The proposal to introduce the fluoridated
milk is simply a result of figures showing roughly 50% of 12 year olds in Blackpool are suffering
from some form of dental decay or have missing/filled in teeth. This is much higher than the normal
average which sits at around 33%. Councillor Graham Cain explained a little further regarding
Blackpool s poor dental health record, going on to discuss their intentions with fluoridated milk was to
reach all primary school children as they are growing up and make the fluoride milk available to them
there. While the intention is obviously a good one, the majority are left wondering why more hasn t
been done to encourage better at home dental health

Disadvantages Of Macloan Microloans

used, provided the risk analysis is done A 2012 National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)

And it is rather convincing that in average 4 out of 5 small business owners are using credit cards. One
fine example to this financial source is the founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergery Bin have used
their credit cards to start their business. However, there are some disadvantages to this method, as if
done in a right way then it would be beneficial. As such planning of the business structure and risk
analysis are important.

How Popular Fiction Reflects Debates About Gender and...
For the last few decades it is argued to what extent popular fiction reflects such things as social
changes in our society and topical debates. In this paper I will discuss to what extent popular fiction
reflects debates about gender and sexuality. Moreover, I will look at the difference between
postfeminism and third wave feminism, afterwards I will more closely look at Candace Bushnell s
book Sex and the City (1996) and relate the book s ideas about woman and woman s sexuality to
postfeminism and third wave feminism ideas. I will also look at cyber feminism in relation to another
chick lit Helen Fielding s book Bridget Jones s Diary (1996).
In my opinion, popular fiction reflects almost everything what happens in the contemporary ... Show

To my mind, Bushnell s book is and definitely were empowering for women. It encourages women to
be in charge of their own lives. It has been argued that for great number of women Bushnell s heroines
are a role model how to live their lives, how to treat themselves and also men.
Firstly, one of the ideas that is in Sex and the City and comes from third wave feminism is that
feminists can wear lip stick, high heals, and low cut necklines and feel like women, but not sexual
objects. Pinkfloor (2005: p.20) emphasises: It s possible to have a push up bra and a brain at the same
time. To my mind, it is an important point to make, because one can still be a feminist and at the same
time be comfortable with their sexuality. What is more, it is an outstanding theme throughout the
Bushnell s book also. Bushnell s heroines are confident women in all spheres of their lives, and about
their sexuality as much about work or relationships. They can go to the sex club for new experiences
(Sex and the City: p.10 16) or dance topless on the bar (Sex and the City: p.88 95). At the same time
they have successful and respectable careers a columnist, English journalist, movie producer, cable
executive, banker and there are mentioned many more. The book also carries a strong message of
female competition, which is characteristic of postfeminism.

Taking a Look at Evolutionary Psychology
Evolutionary Psychology is a practice of social and natural sciences that studies human characteristics
through the lens of modern evolutionary theory. This is exactly what Dunbar and his colleges attempt
to do with the family in their book. The discussion of the family has to start with defining what parent
involvement actually is. The authors of the book Evolutionary Psychology use Robert Trivers
definition from 1972 that states, any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases
the offspring s chance of surviving at the cost of parent s ability to invest in other offspring . This
means that if a parent of a individual uses any of their resources to help improve their child s chance
of survival, meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second circumstance for infanticide is if the child is born with severe disabilities or deformities
for the simple reason of is the child worth the investment. Is involved in a child s life who is going to
require more of an investment that an average child, and still highly unlikely to reproduce worth it?
Twins are a similar circumstance. Parents have the dilemma of possibly of not having adequate
resources for both children at the same time. So infanticide could be logical in this situation so the
parents could invest heavily into one of the twins to help ensure the best opportunity for the child
throughout life as opposed to dividing the resources in half. This leads into the last circumstance,
which is just not having the adequate amount of resources to raise even a single child. This practice is
exemplified to the rate of aborted children or children sent to orphanages in young single women, or
old married women who have had several children prior. Also discussed is how unique the human
family is. Human fathers are involved in their children s lives more than any other species and humans
are the only species where grandparents exist. The explanation for these occurrences are that the
human infant is so dependant that it needs the support of more than just a mother, and even just the
mother and father in some cases. The occurrence of grandparents can also be explained by the
phenomenon of menopause. The human

later on she begins to become more confident in her abilities and even goes as far as to say she, felt

While Gandhi never precisely defines modern civilization , such a thing may indeed be impossible as
the discourse already, to some extent, defines us, he does offer an analogy to understand its nature. As
this kind of civilization exists in idealized forms in its literature and theories and realized forms
throughout Europe, America, and their colonies, he considers these its identity. From this, one can
infer its nature as one learns of a tiger. While, in theory, a tiger could change its character, this
question completely misses the point that the very nature of the tiger is at fault (Swaraj 27 28). The
preaching of modern civilization, as rhetoric, plus the real patterns of this kind of living comprise the
object of his criticism. This marks one of his first important differences from the discourse he opposes.
Where Gandhi considers the tiger in terms of its nature and as a pattern of behavior, the technical
rationality of the discourse he is arguing against considers a tiger as a particular collection of
biological specificities that may sometimes act in predictable ways, but is entirely mutable. While this
summary of Gandhi makes him sound more like Plato than is fair, his arguments tend to look for
deeper meanings where possible and permanent truths as opposed to the myopia of the discourse he is
criticizing. Similarly, Gandhi claims that only men with mature thoughts are capable of ruling
themselves (Swaraj 16), whereas modern civilization boasts

The Place de Vosges was radically different than earlier city squares like the Classical forum or the

by itself (48). Specifically, the Place de Vosges would be used to adorn the city, to provide a setting for
public ceremonies, and to give Parisian a recreational space (48). On April 5,6, and 7, 1612, the Place

How Does Amenabar Create Suspense
The others directed by, Alejandro Amenabar is a haunted house themed ghost story, which creates a
thrilling atmosphere as Amenabar emphasizes a combination of uncertainty, tension, suspense and
shock. Amenabar creates an atmosphere, which has the time and patience to generate a mood and
create mystery to the characters. The setting Amenabar has chosen is very cliché and fits into the
horror theme perfectly being a large house, which is trapped in fog. Amenabar also adds mystery to
the characters as the two children are extremely sensitive to light and can only confine in only the
dark. Amenabar let s the audiences use their imaginations to put the film together and make sense of
it, which is really what thriller/horror films need. Using different melodies and sound affects along
with different camera angles and viewpoints the opening scene of Grace screaming, the storage room

The Integration OfGreen Logistic Integration of Green Logistic Introduction Success of an environmentally friendly supply chain will require an integration of efforts, such as reduction in transportation requirements, implementation of reverse logistics practices that are in harmony with environmental considerations, and an intuitive infrastructure which reduces adverse measures directly impacting the environment. The United States, being one of the top countries in leading eco friendly supply chain, has a friendly supply chain aspiration for a company to be successful. Many other countries try to be correct in flourishing possible developments in producing consumer goods that will attract them to a large fairly straight forward company. Abuse in FosterCare Essay About two thirds of children admitted to public care have experienced abuse and neglect, and many have potentially been exposed to domestic violence, parental mental illness and substance abuse (Dregan and Gulliford). These children are being placed into foster care so that they can get away from home abuse, not so they can move closer towards it. The foster children s varied outcomes of what their adult lives are is because of the different experiences they grew up with in their foster homes. The death of Yaobang Hu, a resigned Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary, resulted in massive mourning by students. How Did TheCrusades Affect The Medieval World IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as well as knowledge. Merchants in Italy converted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West. I remember playing around with my neighbors; they came to me and asked me if I could play with them. I was totally lost because I didn t understand what they asked me. They kept mumbling words I couldn t understand at all. I felt unwanted to be with them because they didn t speak my native language. As I left them, they started laughing so hard, and I was afraid of asking them what they were laughing. As long as they kept laughing, I suddenly ran to my room with anger. The Collegiate ExperienceOf Student Athletes The collegiate experience of student athletes varies across the sports played, divisions, and grade level. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience than other athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the college experience is whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015). That decision holds implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less as a student tend to have lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other students. Those that identify as students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). Those that identify more as athletes have an average gpa of 2.9, spend 35 hours a week on athletics, spend 36 on academics, and miss an average of 1.7 classes (NCAA, 2015). The amount of time spent toward various activities varies across different sports and the level of commitment they require. Despite this student athletes in all sports generally commit large amounts of time to both athletics and academic endeavors (NCAA, 2015). The majority of student athletes report that they are actively involved in their campus community outside of athletics and believe that their athletics participation has benefited them socially (NCAA, 2015). A Brief Lookat Igor Sikorsky Igor Sikorsky widened the field of aviation throughout his life with inventions that caught the interest of the world. In the early 1920 s, after successfully building a four engine biplane, Sikorsky began his work on amphibian aircraft. The aircraft proved to be versatile with its ability to take off and land on an airstrip or in the water. Sikorsky increased the size and maximum range of his designs until producing the S 42 Flying Clipper. His line of amphibian planes became the precursor to commercial transoceanic flight. He played an important role in both the introduction of amphibian aircraft and its transition into commercial aviation. Sikorsky also contributed heavily to the development of the helicopter and research of rotary flight design. His design concept that had one main lifting rotor in combination with a smaller rotor to counteract torque is still used in modern helicopters. The helicopters maneuverability and ability to lift off vertically allowed it to fly into and out of terrain not fit for normal aircraft. He designed the R 4 which became widely produced and utilized by the military mainly for delivery of supplies and search and rescue. The company he began in New York, now called Sikorsky Aircraft, produced the S 70 Black Hawk helicopter in response to the Army s need for a durable transport helicopter in 1972. The Fifth Childby Doris Lessing The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish. Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby. Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. The King, AMan With Broad Shoulders And A Muscular Build This morning, the king received word that a fire snorting dragon was again terrorizing the countryside. It is scaring the people of his kingdom, and they want to leave their land. He summoned his legion of knights and advisors to the castle for a meeting. Once before the king sent the royal knights into the area, they tried to stop the giant lizard from roaming the lowlands and raising havoc in the kingdom. The knights, in their shiny armor, could not slay the animal. Only chase him back into the mountains. Should he return to the valleys and fields they would have no option, but to slay him. The king, a tall man with broad shoulders and a muscular build, is a respected leader on or off the battlefield. He ordered the tables in the grand ballroom, pushed together to form a square letter U. The knights and advisers will be sitting on the outside of the tables. The king, wearing his blue robe with the royal crest, will walk back and forth on the inside of the tables. Looking troubled, the king rested his right hand on the handle of his sword. As he walked by looking at the people sitting on the other side of the table, he would, from time to time stroke his white beard with his left hand. With a stern and demanding look on his face, the king made eye contact with each person sitting on the other side of the table as he walked by. The Negative Effectsof Concentrated Animal Feeding... Introduction Where do happy cows actually come from? Most of our minds create an image of large fields where cows and other animals are free to roam and graze. In reality, however, most farms today are actually large corporate factories, not the vast fields and red barns that most Americans imagine. These consolidated operations known as CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) are able to produce meats in high volume but have little to no regard for animal or human welfare, the environment, or food safety. CAFOs in the United States are able to produce and process these large amounts of meat year round by providing sheltered farms for a range of livestock such as cattle, swine, and sheep. However, within these farms animals are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent outbreaks of strains of the influenza only further support stricter regulations on CAFOs. One such case is the H1N1 epidemic, more commonly known as the swine flu. Since its outbreak in 2009 this particular strain of the flu has infected over 150,000 and killed another 12,000 people in the US (CDC). It name comes from its alleged origin, a swine CAFO in La Gloria, Mexico operated by Smithfield Foods, the world largest. The CAFO itself has been described as grotesque because pigs are crammed into giant building, kept in stalls so small they can t even turn around... The pollution from their waste is so noxious that you must wear a gas mask to enter the building (Brainard). These conditions lead to the misuse of antibiotics which results in strains like H1N1 that cannot be treated with regular antibiotics. If this continues, many of our medicines will become obsolete. Current statistics show that an estimated 70% of all antibiotics and related drugs used in the United States are given to food animals to promote faster growth and to hold off diseases in highly crowded CAFOs, with the resulting total antibiotic resistance already causing U.S. health care $4 billion annually ( Hidden Costs of CAFOs ). The state that their marriage is in can be seen when Edna shares pâtes, French for small pies, with the neighboring women and they all declare how Mr. Pontellier is the best husband in the world. The narrator uses the third person limited to show that Edna felt forced to say how she knew of none better. Separation from the feminine is only the beginning of a heroine s journey, however; it is not completely necessary for someone to go through the entire heroine s circle, everyone s journey is different. Edna s separation from the feminine is due to her lack of a role model and also because she lacked a mother figure. It is mentioned in The Awakening that Edna s mother had passed away which makes the separation from the mother an easier bond to break. Since Edna had no mother figure she sought approval from a father figure and began her Identification with the Masculine of a heroine s journey. When she marries Léonce, he fails to give to her the male figure to look up to and altogether wounds her sense of self from the lack of someone to follow. The Death OfTrotsky By David Ives Violence has been a part of plays for centuries. It keeps the play interesting and intriguing, but however, most of the time there is a greater purpose of violence. When looking for it in plays one would automatically look for weapons or signs of physically harming someone like. However, verbiage can be an act of violence as well. The phrase, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me is false. Your tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to hurt another person. Like in the play The Stronger by August Strindberg where Miss Y is verbally insulted countless of times. Whereas in the play Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives one can see the physical violence by the tragic murder that occurred. After distinguishing where the violence is coming from one can then analyze the true role of the violence and compare how the violence affect the dramas. When looking at The Stronger you can see just how Miss Y in verbally insulted over and over again by Mrs. X. While Miss Y is just sitting at a table by herself minding her own business when Mrs. X shows up. Endurance, Leadership, Attitude,And Perseverance Endurance by Alfred Lansing is an astonishing true story of how a group of twenty eight men survived in the Antarctic for two years, thanks primarily to one man s leadership, attitude, and perseverance. The Imperial Trans Atlantic Expedition was headed by Ernest Shackleton, an explorer and consummate leader of men. Shackleton used his gut feeling to hand pick his crew, ensuring they knew that success would be rewarded but also aware that a safe return home is not guaranteed. Shackleton chose men with a mixture of skill sets and was sure to consider how each member would fit in with the team. As a leader he understood when to allow individuals to utilize their strengths while still leading a holistic team. Shackleton was gifted with an uncanny ability to overcome conflict, communicate with his followers, as well as remain flexible during any situation. Reflection Paper OnStep I attended the documentary, Step. It followed three high school girls that attended Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women: Cori Grainger, Tayla Solomon, and Blessin Giraldo. The goal of this school was for every girl to get accepted to college before graduation. Every girl succeeded, but it was a tough journey getting there. Their Step team, Lethal Ladies, is what gave them motivation to achieve their goal, as well as passion, drive, and discipline. It expressed the importance of having community and having something to push you to succeed. I had no idea what Step was before I watched this documentary. It was strange that this was such a huge part of these girls lives, yet I had never heard of it before. Step was so crucial to who they were, giving them motivation and determination to succeed. I realized, before, that sports teams or extracurriculars provided many positive gains, but this documentary shed a whole new light on just how beneficial they can be. DeMeulenaere stated, Not only do coaches inspire college aspirations in students, so do peer relationships developed through participation in sports. This was very true for the girls on the Step team. Step not only gave the girls a healthy way to spend their time, but it also gave them a coach that loved them like family and a team that always had their backs. This brings up the point about how powerful of an impact something like a Step team can be. What would the girls lives have been like if they did not have Step? Before watching this documentary, I was blissfully unaware of the circumstances that some of these Baltimore girls lived in. From the outside, Blessin looked like she was succeeding in every way. She was drop dead gorgeous, captain of the Lethal Ladies, and appeared to always be happy and bubbly, based on the outside. As the documentary progressed, what was really going on in Blessin s life was revealed. Her mom was depressed, her grades were very unsatisfactory, her attendance was dropping, and her family had many financial struggles. Essay On Hydrocarbons Effectiveand economical production of hydrocarbons has gained great attention worldwide due to the increasing demand for oil and the challenges oil companies face to deliver more oil from their oilfields. Water flood is generally used as an economic and effective method in secondary mode recovery after primary (natural) driving mechanisms have been depleted. Generally, water flooding still leaves behind 60 70% of the oil initially in place (OIIP) inside the reservoir and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods are introduced to produce further oil from the reservoir. EOR is simply defined as the injection of materials that do not naturally exist under the earth s surface to increase the oil production rate of a reservoir. Primarily, there are ... The injection of alkaline also generates surface acting agents when the interaction to certain types of oils in the reservoir occurs (Hill et all, 1973). Objective of Study The aim of the final project is to develop a model based on meta analysis of available core flooding dataset, thus, improving the understanding and underlying mechanisms of chemical EOR. This required extensive and sophisticated analysis of theoretical background. Unethical Eugenics Eugenics andEthical Controversies Associated With Human Engineering Over the course of Global History, Eugenics has been used with and without consent of the person involved. In the past, Germany used Eugenics during concentration camps, and currently, sterilization is still in use. This is based on the ideology that your past determines your future. For the future, a statement that scientists are questioning is whether or not Eugenics provides a safer and sounder world, or is it unethical and immoral? The Start of Eugenics In the United States, the founder of Eugenics was Francis Galton. His research was focused on following family genetic trees and locating it in offspring. His ideas grew a strong following including Charles Davenport, the man who founded Eugenics Record Office. This was a laboratory with the goal, to improve the natural, physical, mental and temperamental qualities of the human family. (Norrgard, 2008, p.1) Eugenics History In 1927, Carrie Buck was considered a prime victim to undergo sterilization with the greater purpose of Eugenics. She was labeled Mentally deficient (DenHoed, 2016, p.1) after becoming pregnant unwed at the age of seventeen. Challenges of Homosexualsin the 1960’s Challenges of Homosexuals in the 1960 s Abstract Every day homosexuals face challenges that heterosexuals do not. These challenges include people giving them looks when they are walking down the street while holding hands with a person of the same sex. They also face challenges in being accepted as a true family, this is because in many states same sex marriage is deemed illegal. Over the decades people have become more adjusted to homosexuals in society. The definition of family is a group consisting of one to two parents and their children. This definition does not say that the parents have to be one male and one female. There are many families that consist of two female parents or two male and parent and children; you rarely saw this in the 1960s but today you seemed to see this type of family more frequently. This film also proved effective that if same sex marriage was legal then Edith would not have had to face Ted taking her house and her belongings. Once Abby passed away Edith was faced with the fact that Abby did not have a will that said that the house would be passed onto Edith. Ted; her closest living relative was to be given all of Abby s belongings by law. If same sex marriage was deemed legal during that time Edith would rightfully have possession of all of Abby s belongings including the house. This would also allow Edith to have been able to see Abby before she died because she would be deemed a family member. They proved this effective because they showed that in the hospital that even if Edith would have said that she and Abby were together she would still have not been able to see her legally. The movie also proved this by showing that technically Edith did not have any right to the house because the mortgage was not in her name regardless of her paying half of the mortgage. This gave Ted the rightful ownership of the house. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fluoride In HighSchool Milk Case Study Fluoride in school milk is now a cause for concern While the rest of the world campaigns and fights against water fluoridation, it s now been decided that more than 8000 children in the Blackpool area will begin receiving fluoridated milk after councilors approved the proposal to introduce it within the town s pre existing free breakfast scheme. The leader of the Tories however has now called this sudden decision, made by the local government, into question. The one saving grace of this newly implemented scheme is that parents are now able to opt out of the mass medication should they wish. The group setting up the scheme include Blackpool Council, Public Health England, Borrow Foundation and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation. The proposal to introduce the fluoridated milk is simply a result of figures showing roughly 50% of 12 year olds in Blackpool are suffering from some form of dental decay or have missing/filled in teeth. This is much higher than the normal average which sits at around 33%. Councillor Graham Cain explained a little further regarding Blackpool s poor dental health record, going on to discuss their intentions with fluoridated milk was to reach all primary school children as they are growing up and make the fluoride milk available to them there. How Popular FictionReflects Debates About Gender and... For the last few decades it is argued to what extent popular fiction reflects such things as social changes in our society and topical debates. In this paper I will discuss to what extent popular fiction reflects debates about gender and sexuality. Moreover, I will look at the difference between postfeminism and third wave feminism, afterwards I will more closely look at Candace Bushnell s book Sex and the City (1996) and relate the book s ideas about woman and woman s sexuality to postfeminism and third wave feminism ideas. I will also look at cyber feminism in relation to another chick lit Helen Fielding s book Bridget Jones s Diary (1996). In my opinion, popular fiction reflects almost everything what happens in the contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To my mind, Bushnell s book is and definitely were empowering for women. It encourages women to be in charge of their own lives. It has been argued that for great number of women Bushnell s heroines are a role model how to live their lives, how to treat themselves and also men. Firstly, one of the ideas that is in Sex and the City and comes from third wave feminism is that feminists can wear lip stick, high heals, and low cut necklines and feel like women, but not sexual objects. Pinkfloor (2005: p.20) emphasises: It s possible to have a push up bra and a brain at the same time. To my mind, it is an important point to make, because one can still be a feminist and at the same time be comfortable with their sexuality. What is more, it is an outstanding theme throughout the Bushnell s book also. Bushnell s heroines are confident women in all spheres of their lives, and about their sexuality as much about work or relationships. They can go to the sex club for new experiences (Sex and the City: p.10 16) or dance topless on the bar (Sex and the City: p.88 95). Taking a Lookat Evolutionary Psychology Evolutionary Psychology is a practice of social and natural sciences that studies human characteristics through the lens of modern evolutionary theory. This is exactly what Dunbar and his colleges attempt to do with the family in their book. The discussion of the family has to start with defining what parent involvement actually is. The authors of the book Evolutionary Psychology use Robert Trivers definition from 1972 that states, any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases the offspring s chance of surviving at the cost of parent s ability to invest in other offspring . This means that if a parent of a individual uses any of their resources to help improve their child s chance of survival, meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second circumstance for infanticide is if the child is born with severe disabilities or deformities for the simple reason of is the child worth the investment. Is involved in a child s life who is going to require more of an investment that an average child, and still highly unlikely to reproduce worth it? Twins are a similar circumstance. Parents have the dilemma of possibly of not having adequate resources for both children at the same time. So infanticide could be logical in this situation so the parents could invest heavily into one of the twins to help ensure the best opportunity for the child throughout life as opposed to dividing the resources in half. This leads into the last circumstance, which is just not having the adequate amount of resources to raise even a single child. This practice is exemplified to the rate of aborted children or children sent to orphanages in young single women, or old married women who have had several children prior. Also discussed is how unique the human family is. Human fathers are involved in their children s lives more than any other species and humans are the only species where grandparents exist. The explanation for these occurrences are that the human infant is so dependant that it needs the support of more than just a mother, and even just the mother and father in some cases. The occurrence of grandparents can also be explained by the phenomenon of menopause. The human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Gandhi never precisely defines modern civilization , such a thing may indeed be impossible as the discourse already, to some extent, defines us, he does offer an analogy to understand its nature. As this kind of civilization exists in idealized forms in its literature and theories and realized forms throughout Europe, America, and their colonies, he considers these its identity. From this, one can infer its nature as one learns of a tiger. While, in theory, a tiger could change its character, this question completely misses the point that the very nature of the tiger is at fault (Swaraj 27 28). The preaching of modern civilization, as rhetoric, plus the real patterns of this kind of living comprise the object of his criticism. This marks one of his first important differences from the discourse he opposes. Where Gandhi considers the tiger in terms of its nature and as a pattern of behavior, the technical rationality of the discourse he is arguing against considers a tiger as a particular collection of biological specificities that may sometimes act in predictable ways, but is entirely mutable. While this summary of Gandhi makes him sound more like Plato than is fair, his arguments tend to look for deeper meanings where possible and permanent truths as opposed to the myopia of the discourse he is criticizing. Similarly, Gandhi claims that only men with mature thoughts are capable of ruling themselves (Swaraj 16), whereas modern civilization boasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
