Symbols And Techniques Used In Dunbar s They Wear The Mask
Hyperbole and metaphors used in the poem links to how everyone wears a mask once in the while and
has the same universal feeling of hopelessness. Dunbar goes on to note that the more you ignore
something, it lays dormant and may come back even bigger. In We Wear the Mask, Dunbar
exaggerates how changing can be beneficial and harmful because it can be concluded that all the
illusions and subdued emotions are just phony disguises of the painful truths that hide behind them.
Thus, people would want to disguise their pain because it makes them vulnerable. vulnerability is
often concealed and causes one to instinctively want to protect themselves from the ridicule of the
public. Changing external appearance can be detrimental because sometimes a sense of shame
accompanies them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem shows how he incorporates his testimonies into his poetry. We Wear the Mask is a lyrical
poem about the suffering of blacks, and how they wear a mask so that the world will never know. This
is about Dunbar s life because he is African American, and his own sufferings are like that of slaves.
Dunbar grew up poor, and his father left never to return. This caused a void in his life because he did
not have a father figure. Dunbar s life is similar to the poem because while he was happy to the public
behind closed doors issues were dreadful. In 1902 after he and his wife separated Dunbar succumbed
to depression. The end of his marriage and declining health drove him to get addicted to alcohol,
which further damaged his health . We Wear the Mask is about Dunbar s own internal suffering, and
how people are never really what they

Conspiracy Theories About Alexander The Great
Conspiracy Theories About Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was said to be born of King
Philip and Olympias. However, that is only one conspiracy that lies within this popular name. He was
born in 336 B.C. in Macedonia, Greece. Since then Alexander dreamed of becoming the king of Asia
and his mother wanted nothing more than her son on the throne. Many theories such as the death of
King Philip, the father of Alexander the Great, and the death of Alexander the Great are imbedded into
the history of this powerful ruler. The death of King Philip, supposedly the father of Alexander the
Great, is quite questionable. One theorem is that his death was planned by Olympias and Alexander.

My Favorite Teacher Helped Me Get Over My Ex Essay
At the end of my freshman year of high school, my boyfriend broke up with me. He was the only
boyfriend I had ever had and I was completely devastated. I had always written a little on my own and
had been good in English classes, but I never wrote as much as I did that summer. I was hurt, angry,
and feeling incredibly insecure. Writing was my salvation. It was the only way I had to express my
feelings because I did not really have anyone to talk to about my feelings and concerns. For the entire
summer, I moped around and wrote depressing poems constantly. I was miserable.
When school started again, I was not very happy about it at all. I would have to see my ex boyfriend
everyday with his new girlfriend. I tried not to let it bother me, ... Show more content on

It meant a lot to me to have my papers turn out well. I tried hard and I wanted my work to be
considered good. These papers were written about my life and me working out my own problems so I
wanted them to be well written and reflected truly how I felt. I wanted Mrs. F to appreciate my work
as well. A lot of the pieces I was writing were still very angry and personal, so I was very insecure
about what other people would think about my writing. To my surprise, the teacher and the other
students who had to critique my work did appreciate and understand what I was trying to articulate. I
wrote poems about melting Barbie dolls and my struggles dealing with not being popular and how I
could accept that part of my life, rather than just feeling bad about it the entire time. I was surprised
that I kept getting really good grades. The comments Mrs. F wrote on my papers were so supportive of
what I was trying to accomplish and of me as a writer, that the little confidence I had grew. I felt more
comfortable to try new things and experiment in my writing. She would write a comment about a
character in one of my stories and end up complimenting me in some way. On my final exam she

Essay on Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Ernest Hemingway s The Battler provides a continued account of Nick Adams dangerous and violent
life. Previous stories compiled in The Short Stories edition of Hemingway s work documents some of
the tribulations of Nick Adams, one of Hemingway s protagonists. Apparently, Nick has been plagued
by moments of sheer humility, terror, and immutable violence. In the Hemingway short story Indian
Camp, Nick is a young boy who witnesses a dreadfully difficult birth by a Native American woman,
enduring all the while the hubris of his surgeon father, who is contestibly insensitive to Nick s
innocence. Once the birth has ended, the husband of the woman is found with a freshly slit throat,

His state of affairs does not improve, however. Nick happens upon a camp of tow men, one of whom
is an ex prizefighter, Ad Francis. Upon arrival, Nick calls out, Hello, and is greeted by Ad with Where
d you get that shiner? (p. 130) Not a typical response, but Nick is about to learn he is not in a set of
typical circumstances. Ad Francis face is described queerly formed and mutilated...putty in color, with
a sunken nose, slitted eyes and with only one ear. (p. 131) Clearly, the implication is that Ad Francis
has seen some beatings in his day. This is confirmed by the man himself: They all bust their hands on
me...they couldn t hurt me. (p. 132) The extreme physical toll taken by Ad has affected him mentally.
Listen, he tells Nick, I m not quite right. (p. 132) Like Nick, Ad is a man who has encountered
violence and humiliation all of his life. Countless blows have found their mark on his now deformed
face. In a way, Ad is a physical representation of Nick s fortitude and perserverance, a fellow sufferer
whose pain has surfaced in a more tangible way, who takes immediate notice of things like black eyes.
Soon after Nick s introduction to Ad, another man approaches the fire. Nick is introduced to Bugs as
Ad s pal...he s crazy too. (p. 133) Physically, Bugs is a stark contrast to Ad s figure: tall, black, low
voiced and calm. Bugs begins to cook a dinner of ham and eggs over the campfire that the

Federal Budget And The Budget
It is no secret, the federal budget is in a major deficit. The federal government continues to borrow
money to finance obligations that include Medicare, Social Security, military defense, federal salaries
and other programs. The more the government borrows; the deeper the country sinks into debt
(Krulick, 2015). As federal debt grows, the congress raises the allowable debt ceiling. The
Congressional Budget Office estimated the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was $17.3 trillion in 2014
and that the federal budget deficit was $506 billion ( Congressional Budget Office, ).
I believe the sources I have used to research this date are credible. The Congressional Budget Office
claims to be a nonpartisan agency which makes no recommendations on policy. The agency simply
analyses budgets at the congressional level. Throughout my research, all sources reported similar
information regarding the budget. It is possible the information related to the federal budget could be a
skewed statistic or propaganda from one or another political party.
I determined the data related to the federal budget to be supportive of the Republican Party. The
Republican Party potentially may have constructed inaccurate information to help solicit votes for an
upcoming election or general support of their political party. It would be in the Republican Party s
favor to suggest a higher debt than the actual debt; for the reason that politicians may emphasize the
costs of domestic welfare programs that liberals

How does it affect skeletal muscle function?
The muscles fiber membrane contains a group of proteins the dystrophin glycoprotein complex that
prohibits harm as muscle fibers contract and relax. When this protective membrane is damaged,
muscles fibers begins to leak the protein creatine kinase and take on excess calcium, which causes
further harm.
Does DMD affect boys and girls equally? If not, who are primarily affected and why?
Because DMD is an inherited in X linked recessive pattern, and males only have one copy of the X
chromosome, not like female that two copies of x chromosome, if one copy does not work there is
another one to produce dystrophin. With an X linked recessive condition, the chance of passing on the
change (non working) copy of the gene to a child is different for males and females (National Human
Genome Research Institute, 2013).
What is SMA? What gene is mutated?

the loss of nerve cells in the spinal cord called motor neurons. SMN1 genes on chromosome 5 cause

Guns In School Julio Cortez
Guns in School? In the December 25, 2012 article published in USA Today, Editorial: Gun Lobby,
Don t Change the Subject, author Julio Cortez talks about armed teachers and security guards as
solutions to protect our children in school. He states that the NRA s Wayne LaPierre makes it sound so
simple; hire armed guards for every school in America. Cortez says the NRA s attempt to introduce
more weapons is a tactic to distract from the serious debate about firearms. America has just as much
mental illness as other countries and the same amount of violence in the media. More guns are what
make this country dangerous, but the Supreme Court has ruled twice, that the Second Amendment
gives individuals the right to own a firearm. The court, however; has allowed bans on assault weapons
and firearms with large magazines. That being said, since this nation isn t about to relinquish their
right to bear arms anytime soon, armed forces posted at schools seems like a good idea. Although gun

Brief Summary Of Ishmael By Daniel Quinn
Summary: In the novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, the effects of human activity in the world are
discussed. At the beginning, the narrator reads an ad in a newspaper about a man looking for a student
to teach. The narrator is at first disgusted because he has been searching for a teacher for years and
now he finally finds someone begging for a student. The narrator meets the teacher and is shocked that
it is a gorilla named Ishmael who can telepathically speak to humans. Ishmael and the narrator meet
regularly and Ishmael tells the narrator that humans can be divided into two categories of takers and
leavers. Takers are selfish people that are considered civilized and destroy the earth because believe it

this, he continues the teachings of Ishmael in his honor to aide in the end of the takers and the rise of
the leavers. Message: Throughout the book Quinn develops that takers are greedy people who do not
realize they are destroying the world and will therefore fall in the end. Ishmael s lessons and the myths
that are told throughout the book depict the message that takers are unaware of their actions and
leavers need to rise. Incident: When Ishmael and the narrator first met and bonded over their
fascination with the story of Hitler. I myself never understood why so many people would follow
Hitler s command, but I finally understood when Ishmael explains that it was because Hitler told a
story that stuck with the people. Four environmental

Analysis Of Street Light By Giacomo Balla
I chose to travel to the Museum of Modern Art for this assignment. Once I was there, I wasn t sure
which artwork I wanted to focus my analysis on. At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of
the museum (I have never been), but after a little while I gained my bearings and began to explore for
20th century art. After viewing many of the paintings that we discussed in depth in class and many
that we did not, I decided to write my analysis on Street Light, by Giacomo Balla. I chose this painting
because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can help aid me in
my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I was happy that I
could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that particular movement,
especially a painting that we touched upon. The painting itself was much larger than I anticipated in
person, and stood taller than me the way it was mounted on the wall. The colors were more vibrant
than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain myself from physically
touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I was able to notice the
finer details of the work. The lines seemed a little messier and more hastily painted than I had
originally thought, however, this added to the movement of the piece overall. I found myself wishing
that the lines of color pushed to the boundaries of the painting rather than ending before

Questions On Performance Appraisal
QUESTIONS:
1. Based on your view of the objectives of performance evaluation, evaluate the perspective about
performance appraisal presented by the managers.
Basically, performance appraisal is a review and discussion on the performance of an employee with
responsibilities and duties. This appraisal is based on the results of the work produced by the
employee and not from the employee s personality characteristics. According to Edwin Flippo, he said
that Performance appraisal is a systematic appraisal, periodic, and not partial to the employee
excellence, in other matters related to the present job and the potential for a better job .
Every company that exists, there must have their own objectives to ensure the company is success

The Importance Of Competence In Physical Education
Introduction
As students advance through primary and secondary physical education, perceive competence will
influence their intrinsic motivation towards engagement. In a traditional sports unit, students that have
low capability will struggle. Furthermore, students that are low skilled alienate themselves from their
peers. One of SHAPES essential standards is that students need to understand the concepts of fitness
and health that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of healthful behavior. How can teachers devise a
lesson regardless of skill, that will benefit students, affective, cognitive and psychomotor as a whole
irrespective of ability?
Nicholls theory (1984) emphasizes that competence is a crucial element influencing the motivational
process; notably, capability drives physical activity.
Perceived competence is the regulatory system that operates motivation. When students engage in
physical activity voluntarily without the demand stimuli; this is known as intrinsic motivation. In
general, intrinsically motivated students will participate in physical activity for the pleasure and
gratification (Deci, 1975).
Furthermore, motivational regulations can influence engagement in physical activity.
An enthusiastic person participation in a task is known as engagement. (Reeve, 2004). The common
extrinsic motivations for young athletes in physical education are peer interaction, competition, and
skill development. There is room to believe that extrinsically motivated

Why I Chose Law School
Since I was 11 years old, I knew that I wanted to go to law school. When I finally started college, I
majored on Criminal Justice thinking that that was what I needed to study to prepare for law school,
but after many conversations with professors, advisors, including attorneys, I decided to change my
major to Liberal Arts instead. As a Spanish speaking individual, I realized that in order to reach my
goal of preparing for law school, I needed to improve my English. Since then, I have taken courses
that I believe has helped me to improve my English. Since I started college, I have been planning my
pathway to law school. This is why, when I was the Student Trustee in my second year of college, I
contacted our First District Attorney Paul Caccaviello to see if I could do a work study at his office. I

interpreted for them and other members of CPCS whenever they needed a Spanish interpreter. I
focused mainly on a rape case. I went to the local correctional facility with Attorney Green every
week to interpret for him and his Spanish speaking client. I was grateful to be part of this case because
I was able to learn more about rape laws, immigration laws, sentencing guidelines, how discretion is
used, and how an investigation is conducted. The fact that the only way that Attorney Green was able
to speak with his client was through a Spanish interpreter made me realize how crucial it is to have a

Jainism And Buddhism Similarities
Buddhism and Jainism both originated from Hinduism. Buddhism and Jainism originated and
developed as distinct religions in the same geographical area. With that being said there are going to
be some similarities among both Buddhism and Jainism. Both of the religions are known as atheistic
religions and are considered to be polytheistic religions that have a primary goal. Buddhism s goal is
gain enlightenment, The Buddha taught that by understanding how we create suffering for ourselves
we can become free. (Fisher 137) Jainism s goal is to liberate the soul, Jain teachings recognized that

Pride and Prejudice: Character Foil
In order for a novel or other literary work to become popular for its time and for an author s audience
to stay engaged and interested in the plot, there must include some sort of conflict or some sort of
contrast that creates that conflict. This conflict attracts the reader to the novel, wanting to read more.
This juxtaposition is achieved through a foil. Foil characters are characters that directly contrast the
traits or qualities of another character. Foil characters usually are the main character, the protagonist
shows traits that are opposite and emphasize the plot of the story, or even another character even
further. A foil, in the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bennet characters when Mrs. Bennet pressures Elizabeth to marry her cousin, Mr. Collins almost
immediately after she learns about Elizabeth s rejection of his proposal. No matter how much Mrs.
Bennet talked to Elizabeth again and again; coaxed and threatened her by turns (Austen 76 77),
Elizabeth would not budge: Though her manner varied, however, her determination never did (Austen
77). This phrase shows the characterization of the scene. Mrs. Bennet s faith and determination in her
beliefs show the true the meaning of marriage in her eyes. Elizabeth shows the traits of a true,
independent character because she could have, like her friend Charlotte Lucas, buckled under the
pressure that outside forces were putting on her, but she believed in herself and how she was feeling,
instead of others influence on her decisions. Once again, Mr. Collins character indirectly brings out
the strengths in Elizabeth Bennet personality. This serves Austen s purpose because Elizabeth goes
against the social norms of the Regency Era and the opposite of what a woman was expected to be
liked. Although Jane Austen still creates Elizabeth to be a very likable character, Austen exemplifies
the traits of herself through Elizabeth s

There is much to be said about creating a human life. It is a miracle that two people can procreate to

In the case where on child were to become sick, the parents then can have a savior sibling. This is a
child that is born for the sole purpose to provide the older sibling with means to survive. This can be
done through the donations of organs and tissues and even the use of the umbilical cord blood
(Humber). The concept of a savior sibling is not new, except for the cloning. Cloning ensures that a
new child would be a match for the existing sibling. In cases of Leukemia, the treatment involves
radiation and chemotherapy, this often destroys bone marrow (Humber). For many patients finding a
match is just not possible. This is where a donor sibling would insure the bone marrow needed for the
patient. This causes concerns for children becoming objects of manufacturing rather than as people
born with value and dignity of their own. Per Immanuel Kant s second principle of the categorical
imperative, by treating the donor child as a mere means, rather than as ends in themselves (Manninen).
Some argue that this form of cloning and saving embryos can also lead to a replacement child for one
who was deceased. Although in a way the replacement child would be identical to the child who was
deceased, their soles would not be the same. You cannot replace a child with another. This also leads
to the replacement child being forced to relive the life of the genetic predecessor. Meaning that the
child could not have a life of their own. The argument in this case is that everyone has a right to an
open future. This is disproved in the article in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy on Cloning
where it states that The child s very desire to be different from her predecessor illustrates that she is
not destined to be like her predecessor (Manninen) There are many different arguments against and for
cloning a replacement child. Most say that it is wrong to force a parent to

Marketing Plan For A Grocery Store
Outpost is a local business that prides itself on providing natural, organic food for the community. As
part of its mission, it made the decisions to build the pop up store in the Lindsay Heights
neighborhood to help create a stronger community while providing to viable source to buy fresh,
affordable food. Part of Outpost s vision is to make sure a community has access to organically and
locally produced foods (Mission Values). They also vow to work towards providing products that
promote personal and environmental health. An Outpost pop up store would be an excellent fit in
downtown Racine as it was successful in Milwaukee which faces similar problems to that of Racine.
Outpost is a community oriented business and this would be a great opportunity for them to expand
that model and help strengthen a community a quick drive south. Building a grocery store in Racine
would show how much they care for the community that is Wisconsin, and how they want their
community member s to live healthy lives, which starts by being able to purchase healthy food. The
possible expansions for Outpost, along with the need for grocery stores and the chance to attract and

Is there a role for primary prevention for patients with asymptomatic hyperuricaemia?
Indrajeet Mandal
Gout is a very common disease in the UK, with 1 in 40 adults being affected by the condition (The
Gout Society UK 2014). The prevalence of the condition has increased in the past few decades, and
there is a greater disease burden in the more economically developed countries (Kuo et al. 2015).
Uric Acid Gout: Physiology
Gout is an arthropathy that involves the deposition of urate crystals into a joint. An acute gout attack

2011), and these have been shown to be independent risk factors (Lin et al. 2000).
Hyperuricaemia is associated with higher all cause mortality
The classical hypothesis is that high uric acid levels lead to increased chance of crystals forming,
which then deposit in the joints. However, recent evidence has started to suggest that hyperuricaemia
itself is a risk factor for increased mortality from causes other than gout. A study carried out on
Japanese men has shown that high serum uric acid has been linked with an increased relative risk of
mortality from all causes in a study carried out on Japanese male workers (Tomita et al. 2000). An
increased mortality raises the question of whether we should routinely prescribe primary prevention
interventions in patients who are in the stage of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia.
Early studies have shown that there is no significant increase in mortality from renal failure. A
prospective study followed a cohort of 2046 initially healthy men and measured urate levels and the
incidence of a raised serum creatinine (Campion et al. 1987). They concluded that there wasn t a
significant rise in the creatinine level, and that there was no significant renal impairment caused
hyperuricaemia, supporting a conservative treatment regimen.
However, it is worth nothing that this measurement was done by correlation urate levels and creatine
levels as the baseline creatinine varies from person to person, it could be argued that this is not

Facial Stereotypes
There are mathematical equations, such as the golden ratio, which can be used to supposedly create
the ideal human body. This proportion was used by Da Vinci to draw the perfect male body. An
individual is said to have a beautiful face when it has a ratio of 1.6180339, or approximately 1.62.
Facial symmetry can be measured by dividing the length of a face by the width of the widest part of
the face; the closer quotient is 1.62 the more beautiful a face is according to the golden ratio. The
golden ratio can also be used on various other parts of the body including; arm length, and height.

Stereotypes In Forrest Gump
White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White
privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are
white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white
people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because
white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it
in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined
as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many
of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this
is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a
person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar
effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in
the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege
by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by
having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make
achievements that people of color really made.
Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest
Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He
begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not
the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his
childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has
happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks about meeting Jenny on his first day
of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for college, enlisting in the army and meeting
Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong against China.

Texting while driving distract the awareness you have on the road ahead of you. There has been some
research about driving while texting. The research shows that your reaction speed is reduced when you
are doing this dangerous act (Friedeman N. Pag). When you are texting while driving you most likely
are not going to notice the car right in front of you for you to hit. Another reason why you should not
do this while you are driving is that you are not aware of signs in front. Results of missing the signs
that you might drive into a closed road or even into a place that leads to nowhere in the woods. The
people on the other side of the coin think that texting while driving should not be banned because
eating and driving or listening to radio can impair the driver as much as texting and driving do to a

ultimately prevent unnecessary diseases. Preparing meals at home and finding favorite recipes can be
a rewarding learning experience that parents can share with their children. Outside of having a
personal healthy lifestyle, voting and speaking to representatives in government about evaluating food
regulations is important in making a positive change for future generations. One big step would be
making the daily sugar intake percentage present on food labels, a standard

Analysis Of The Book Freakonomics By Steven D. Levitt...
Freakonomics, written by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J, Dubner, is divided into six main sections
that all show the similarities between a variety of completely different things. By utilizing statistics
and history, the authors are able to create a book that shows that everything is correlated together and
that everything is influenced by these statistics. Throughout the book, the authors compare totally
different statistics together and show how these totally different statistics, can be linked together. In
the first chapter, school teachers and sumo wrestlers, the authors show how an incentive are able to
influence individuals. The definition of an incentive, is urging people to do more of a good thing, and
less of a bad thing (17). However, incentives are sometimes able to influence an individual into doing
the wrong thing, in order to obtain the incentive. The book states that the top three incentives are:
economic, social and morals (17). These incentives cause people to sometimes preform a wrong
action, in order to obtain any of these incentives. The authors used the statistics of the school teacher
in Chicago to show an example of how people can be influenced the wrong way. The statistics data
was able to prove that a large portion of teachers in Chicago were cheating with their students. This
statistic was observed by administering a standardized test and to receive the scores the first time.
Then the researchers would readminister the same test and if there

C. Cavafy s Ugly Duckling
A man decided he want to travel to many places around the world. The final destination was to come
back home. But when he did he found no real satisfaction in traveling to those places. He had spent his
time in those place not paying attention to his surroundings he just came to say he came with no other
need or want to be there. And as the man looked back he wished he had done something different.
Then what would make that Journey a worthwhile one and what prepares us for the destination. The
journey matters more than the destination when you learn and grow from the journey.
We will not always have the chance to go on a journey so when we can embrace it. In a poem written
by C.P. Cavafy it talks about the importance of journeys. It talks about the importance of enjoying the
journey and of finding and buying mementos to remind them of their journey. It also talks about the
importance of never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his brothers and sisters. He was called ugly and large by the other ducklings and they ignored him and
left him out of things they did. Finally the duckling decided to leave his family to try to find a better
place for him. He goes to many place and sees many other birds and animals. Finally, in the spring he
comes across a pond that had swans in it he expected that they would hurt him but when he looks into
the pond he sees his reflection that of beautiful swan. He had been persecuted and despised for his
ugliness, and now he heard them say he was the most beautiful of all the birds (paragraph 40). The
duckling was born ugly and had spent the majority of his life be persecuted and made fun of for it.
And it was because of the way he was treated when he was younger that made it so special to no
longer be considered ugly. To have other birds look at him and say the he was the most beautiful of

contexts, distribution contexts, and audience contexts. Production context is the study of how texts are
produced; in this case, looking at this ad, it was not something difficult to create, most likely created

Learning Theory Essay
I. Presuppositions/truth claims:
Human beings are created creatures with predetermined human (distinct and separate from animal)
potential and an in born slavery to imperfection/sin. Learners may have experienced God s redemption
and therefore may opt to perform in a way which will show itself at times and/or the residual benefit
of being made in God s image may at times prevail, such as a humanitarian s actions or a child doing
good . God positions man in his fallen and therefore sinful state as neither essentially good nor even
simply neutral, so the innate/native moral nature of humans is bad.
Human beings are psychologically interactive. Because humans are created in the image of God; we
are born with the innate psychological and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Automated processes are those stored in long term memory but accessed subconsciously or
autonomously.
Environmental input may or may not be processed into the human s long term memory, and may not
even be acknowledged/receive attention/be perceived in a person s short term memory . Short term
memory permits the human s conscious direct interaction with environmental factors. Humans are
interactive, constantly processing incoming sensory information by comparing and contrasting
(assimilation/accommodation) and recombining it with schematas/templates/prototypes or building
upon scaffolding already in the mind. Motivation to learn is native/intrinsic to humans and the degree
to which one participates is encouraged or discouraged by many factors. These factors include the
status of the person s basic needs (current physiological and/or psychological state) and anticipation of
outcome (advantage/disadvantage) of gaining said knowledge.
Understanding is connecting (compare/contrast then integrate) new ideas to pre existing ones, forming
meanings, expectations, generalizations, and sometimes new concepts (insights may fall anywhere in
this process). III. Practical Applications:
Class time is opened with an activity, usually for the whole class viewing the overhead
projection/smart board, which introduces some aspect of the lesson in an attempt to assist the student
in retrieving any information he/she may already have in his memory. I

Shopping Malls Are Becoming Extinct
Ever wonder what your favorite mall will look like if it was replaced by an empty lot? How would you
feel? Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was expected to be the
gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure customers from the city
into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof. However, according to recent studies
conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022.
Although this may not seem detrimental, once the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to
where they shop. Shopping malls are becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic
issues, and the closing of major anchor stores. As we enter a new generation, shoppers are gearing
toward online and mobile shopping, which contributes to the extinction of shopping malls. America
reached a time period where the number of adults who were born in a time where online shopping was
not thought of are retiring; resulting in old habits, such as shopping in malls, coming to a cease. The
older generation of adults tend to revert back to familiar habits such as shopping at malls or going to a
bookstore. The new generation of adults/teenagers do not use shopping malls as a hangout spot in
contrast to older generation, thus leading to the decline of shopping malls. Other than shopping,
shopping malls were once used for socializing. However, with the increase of social networks

King Lear Influences
A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots
(Garvey). Garvey s allusion to a tree s roots depicts the human experience and the importance of
understanding our past. Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background
story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways
unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous
influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization
techniques, and culture in his writing. All of these impacted his life in the late 1500s and provided
both underlying main points and details for his plays. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the
characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as
male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main
characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make
the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by
saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290),
and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be
to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of
breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender
redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the
lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More
womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be
womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be
mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness,
and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A
blessèd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented
here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but
Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different
senses. The generation problem is also evident in Shakespeare s plays, especially in King Lear. Lear is
old, and his first daughter

Germany, And The Federal Republic Of Germany
History
Germany, or the Federal Republic of Germany, was officially founded 1871 by Otto von Bismarck.
Since then, Germany has had a rich history. As a young nation looking to get more territory, Germany
fought in World War I. However, its loss in the war led to severe punishments in the Treaty of
Versailles, leading to bitterness and resentment among the German people, as well as an economic
depression. These harsh conditions helped to set the stage for Fascism in Germany. Toppling the
Weimar Republic, the Nazi party (the National Social Workers Party) made a quick ascent to power.
Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party, envisioned a new era of glory for Germany: a Third Reich.
His eventual invasion of Poland in sparked the beginning of World War II. During the war, Germany,
along with the other Axis Powers, Japan and Italy, expanded into parts of Europe and Asia. Hitler
invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and The Netherlands within the
first two years of the war. Determined to create the perfect Aryan race, Hitler set up concentration
camps all over Europe. Jews, Communists, and political enemies were imprisoned in these camps, and
millions died while in them. However, after years of war and multiple significant losses, Hitler
committed suicide. Germany surrendered in 1945, shortly following Hitler s death.
After the war, the decimated Germany was split into four occupation zones by the Allies. There were
three Western zones, occupied by

  • 4. Symbols And Techniques Used In Dunbar s They Wear The Mask Hyperbole and metaphors used in the poem links to how everyone wears a mask once in the while and has the same universal feeling of hopelessness. Dunbar goes on to note that the more you ignore something, it lays dormant and may come back even bigger. In We Wear the Mask, Dunbar exaggerates how changing can be beneficial and harmful because it can be concluded that all the illusions and subdued emotions are just phony disguises of the painful truths that hide behind them. Thus, people would want to disguise their pain because it makes them vulnerable. vulnerability is often concealed and causes one to instinctively want to protect themselves from the ridicule of the public. Changing external appearance can be detrimental because sometimes a sense of shame accompanies them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem shows how he incorporates his testimonies into his poetry. We Wear the Mask is a lyrical poem about the suffering of blacks, and how they wear a mask so that the world will never know. This is about Dunbar s life because he is African American, and his own sufferings are like that of slaves. Dunbar grew up poor, and his father left never to return. This caused a void in his life because he did not have a father figure. Dunbar s life is similar to the poem because while he was happy to the public behind closed doors issues were dreadful. In 1902 after he and his wife separated Dunbar succumbed to depression. The end of his marriage and declining health drove him to get addicted to alcohol, which further damaged his health . We Wear the Mask is about Dunbar s own internal suffering, and how people are never really what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We justify a single course by the fact that modern operating systems are tightly coupled with networking, and that administration of a computer system involves both operating system and networking issues. We have developed a course consistent with the current curriculum standards, while at the same time raising the profile of the role of IS majors in system and network administration. Our course teaches the fundamental principles of operating systems and networks, but with a decidedly information systems slant. Since then Alexander dreamed of becoming the king of Asia and his mother wanted nothing more than her son on the throne. Many theories such as the death of King Philip, the father of Alexander the Great, and the death of Alexander the Great are imbedded into the history of this powerful ruler. • 9. My Favorite Teacher Helped Me Get Over My Ex Essay At the end of my freshman year of high school, my boyfriend broke up with me. He was the only boyfriend I had ever had and I was completely devastated. I had always written a little on my own and had been good in English classes, but I never wrote as much as I did that summer. I was hurt, angry, and feeling incredibly insecure. Writing was my salvation. It was the only way I had to express my feelings because I did not really have anyone to talk to about my feelings and concerns. For the entire summer, I moped around and wrote depressing poems constantly. I was miserable. When school started again, I was not very happy about it at all. It meant a lot to me to have my papers turn out well. I tried hard and I wanted my work to be considered good. These papers were written about my life and me working out my own problems so I wanted them to be well written and reflected truly how I felt. I wanted Mrs. F to appreciate my work as well. A lot of the pieces I was writing were still very angry and personal, so I was very insecure about what other people would think about my writing. To my surprise, the teacher and the other students who had to critique my work did appreciate and understand what I was trying to articulate. I wrote poems about melting Barbie dolls and my struggles dealing with not being popular and how I could accept that part of my life, rather than just feeling bad about it the entire time. I was surprised that I kept getting really good grades. The comments Mrs. F wrote on my papers were so supportive of what I was trying to accomplish and of me as a writer, that the little confidence I had grew. I felt more comfortable to try new things and experiment in my writing. She would write a comment about a character in one of my stories and end up complimenting me in some way. On my final exam she wrote The character has a lot of reality to her, an interesting combination of intelligence, sensitivity, and self doubt (like the author?). • 10. Essay on Cycles of Violence in The Battler Cycles of Violence in The Battler Ernest Hemingway s The Battler provides a continued account of Nick Adams dangerous and violent life. Previous stories compiled in The Short Stories edition of Hemingway s work documents some of the tribulations of Nick Adams, one of Hemingway s protagonists. Apparently, Nick has been plagued by moments of sheer humility, terror, and immutable violence. In the Hemingway short story Indian Camp, Nick is a young boy who witnesses a dreadfully difficult birth by a Native American woman, enduring all the while the hubris of his surgeon father, who is contestibly insensitive to Nick s innocence. Ad Francis face is described queerly formed and mutilated...putty in color, with a sunken nose, slitted eyes and with only one ear. (p. 131) Clearly, the implication is that Ad Francis has seen some beatings in his day. This is confirmed by the man himself: They all bust their hands on me...they couldn t hurt me. (p. 132) The extreme physical toll taken by Ad has affected him mentally. Listen, he tells Nick, I m not quite right. (p. 132) Like Nick, Ad is a man who has encountered violence and humiliation all of his life. Countless blows have found their mark on his now deformed face. In a way, Ad is a physical representation of Nick s fortitude and perserverance, a fellow sufferer whose pain has surfaced in a more tangible way, who takes immediate notice of things like black eyes. Soon after Nick s introduction to Ad, another man approaches the fire. Nick is introduced to Bugs as Ad s pal...he s crazy too. • 11. Federal Budget And The Budget It is no secret, the federal budget is in a major deficit. The federal government continues to borrow money to finance obligations that include Medicare, Social Security, military defense, federal salaries and other programs. The more the government borrows; the deeper the country sinks into debt (Krulick, 2015). As federal debt grows, the congress raises the allowable debt ceiling. The Congressional Budget Office estimated the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was $17.3 trillion in 2014 and that the federal budget deficit was $506 billion ( Congressional Budget Office, ). I believe the sources I have used to research this date are credible. The Congressional Budget Office claims to be a nonpartisan agency which makes no recommendations on policy. The agency simply analyses budgets at the congressional level. Throughout my research, all sources reported similar information regarding the budget. It is possible the information related to the federal budget could be a skewed statistic or propaganda from one or another political party. I determined the data related to the federal budget to be supportive of the Republican Party. The Republican Party potentially may have constructed inaccurate information to help solicit votes for an upcoming election or general support of their political party. It would be in the Republican Party s favor to suggest a higher debt than the actual debt; for the reason that politicians may emphasize the costs of domestic welfare programs that liberals ... How does it affect skeletal muscle function? The muscles fiber membrane contains a group of proteins the dystrophin glycoprotein complex that prohibits harm as muscle fibers contract and relax. When this protective membrane is damaged, muscles fibers begins to leak the protein creatine kinase and take on excess calcium, which causes further harm. Does DMD affect boys and girls equally? If not, who are primarily affected and why? Because DMD is an inherited in X linked recessive pattern, and males only have one copy of the X chromosome, not like female that two copies of x chromosome, if one copy does not work there is another one to produce dystrophin. With an X linked recessive condition, the chance of passing on the change (non working) copy of the gene to a child is different for males and females (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2013). • 13. Guns In School Julio Cortez Guns in School? In the December 25, 2012 article published in USA Today, Editorial: Gun Lobby, Don t Change the Subject, author Julio Cortez talks about armed teachers and security guards as solutions to protect our children in school. He states that the NRA s Wayne LaPierre makes it sound so simple; hire armed guards for every school in America. Cortez says the NRA s attempt to introduce more weapons is a tactic to distract from the serious debate about firearms. America has just as much mental illness as other countries and the same amount of violence in the media. More guns are what make this country dangerous, but the Supreme Court has ruled twice, that the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own a firearm. The court, however; has allowed bans on assault weapons and firearms with large magazines. The narrator meets the teacher and is shocked that it is a gorilla named Ishmael who can telepathically speak to humans. Ishmael and the narrator meet regularly and Ishmael tells the narrator that humans can be divided into two categories of takers and leavers. • 15. Analysis Of Street Light By Giacomo Balla I chose to travel to the Museum of Modern Art for this assignment. Once I was there, I wasn t sure which artwork I wanted to focus my analysis on. At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of the museum (I have never been), but after a little while I gained my bearings and began to explore for 20th century art. After viewing many of the paintings that we discussed in depth in class and many that we did not, I decided to write my analysis on Street Light, by Giacomo Balla. I chose this painting because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can help aid me in my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I was happy that I could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that particular movement, especially a painting that we touched upon. The painting itself was much larger than I anticipated in person, and stood taller than me the way it was mounted on the wall. The colors were more vibrant than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain myself from physically touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I was able to notice the finer details of the work. The lines seemed a little messier and more hastily painted than I had originally thought, however, this added to the movement of the piece overall. I found myself wishing that the lines of color pushed to the boundaries of the painting rather than ending before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the case where on child were to become sick, the parents then can have a savior sibling. This is a child that is born for the sole purpose to provide the older sibling with means to survive. This can be done through the donations of organs and tissues and even the use of the umbilical cord blood (Humber). The concept of a savior sibling is not new, except for the cloning. Cloning ensures that a new child would be a match for the existing sibling. In cases of Leukemia, the treatment involves radiation and chemotherapy, this often destroys bone marrow (Humber). For many patients finding a match is just not possible. This is where a donor sibling would insure the bone marrow needed for the patient. This causes concerns for children becoming objects of manufacturing rather than as people born with value and dignity of their own. Per Immanuel Kant s second principle of the categorical imperative, by treating the donor child as a mere means, rather than as ends in themselves (Manninen). Some argue that this form of cloning and saving embryos can also lead to a replacement child for one who was deceased. Although in a way the replacement child would be identical to the child who was deceased, their soles would not be the same. You cannot replace a child with another. This also leads to the replacement child being forced to relive the life of the genetic predecessor. Meaning that the child could not have a life of their own. The argument in this case is that everyone has a right to an open future. This is disproved in the article in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy on Cloning where it states that The child s very desire to be different from her predecessor illustrates that she is not destined to be like her predecessor (Manninen) There are many different arguments against and for cloning a replacement child. Hyperuricaemia is associated with higher all cause mortality The classical hypothesis is that high uric acid levels lead to increased chance of crystals forming, which then deposit in the joints. However, recent evidence has started to suggest that hyperuricaemia itself is a risk factor for increased mortality from causes other than gout. A study carried out on Japanese men has shown that high serum uric acid has been linked with an increased relative risk of mortality from all causes in a study carried out on Japanese male workers (Tomita et al. 2000). An increased mortality raises the question of whether we should routinely prescribe primary prevention interventions in patients who are in the stage of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia. Early studies have shown that there is no significant increase in mortality from renal failure. A prospective study followed a cohort of 2046 initially healthy men and measured urate levels and the incidence of a raised serum creatinine (Campion et al. 1987). They concluded that there wasn t a significant rise in the creatinine level, and that there was no significant renal impairment caused hyperuricaemia, supporting a conservative treatment regimen. • 37. Stereotypes In Forrest Gump White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make achievements that people of color really made. Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. There are four types of Glycogen Storage Disease type III according to Lucchiari (2007). These types are known as type IIIa, type IIIb, type IIIc, and type IIId. These types are dependent on what activity they have a deficiency in. This test had some issues in diagnosing liver disease because it showed that some patients had high rise in blood glucose levels. This was an issue because many normal and healthy children have high levels of blood glucose and since some of the patients they were testing were children, the results were inconclusive and could not necessarily determine if that patient had any liver glycogen diseases. So it was decided that this test only gave good results if it was used on older patients to whom they could dictate if their blood glucose levels were too high compared to a healthy adult, which would then determine if they had liver glycogen disease. Also this test could be performed after the patient performed a long fast, in order to lower their blood glucose levels. This fast is commonly eight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book states that the top three incentives are: economic, social and morals (17). These incentives cause people to sometimes preform a wrong action, in order to obtain any of these incentives. The authors used the statistics of the school teacher in Chicago to show an example of how people can be influenced the wrong way. The statistics data was able to prove that a large portion of teachers in Chicago were cheating with their students. This statistic was observed by administering a standardized test and to receive the scores the first time. Then the researchers would readminister the same test and if there ... Presuppositions/truth claims: Human beings are created creatures with predetermined human (distinct and separate from animal) potential and an in born slavery to imperfection/sin. Learners may have experienced God s redemption and therefore may opt to perform in a way which will show itself at times and/or the residual benefit of being made in God s image may at times prevail, such as a humanitarian s actions or a child doing good . Humans are interactive, constantly processing incoming sensory information by comparing and contrasting (assimilation/accommodation) and recombining it with schematas/templates/prototypes or building upon scaffolding already in the mind. • 49. Shopping Malls Are Becoming Extinct Ever wonder what your favorite mall will look like if it was replaced by an empty lot? How would you feel? Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was expected to be the gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure customers from the city into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof. However, according to recent studies conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022. Although this may not seem detrimental, once the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to where they shop. Shopping malls are becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic issues, and the closing of major anchor stores. As we enter a new generation, shoppers are gearing toward online and mobile shopping, which contributes to the extinction of shopping malls. America reached a time period where the number of adults who were born in a time where online shopping was not thought of are retiring; resulting in old habits, such as shopping in malls, coming to a cease. The older generation of adults tend to revert back to familiar habits such as shopping at malls or going to a bookstore. The new generation of adults/teenagers do not use shopping malls as a hangout spot in contrast to older generation, thus leading to the decline of shopping malls. Other than shopping, shopping malls were once used for socializing. However, with the increase of social networks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous influences to make his plays unique. The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290), and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness, and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A blessèd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different senses. • 51. Germany, And The Federal Republic Of Germany History Germany, or the Federal Republic of Germany, was officially founded 1871 by Otto von Bismarck. Since then, Germany has had a rich history. As a young nation looking to get more territory, Germany fought in World War I. However, its loss in the war led to severe punishments in the Treaty of Versailles, leading to bitterness and resentment among the German people, as well as an economic depression. These harsh conditions helped to set the stage for Fascism in Germany. Toppling the Weimar Republic, the Nazi party (the National Social Workers Party) made a quick ascent to power. Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party, envisioned a new era of glory for Germany: a Third Reich. His eventual invasion of Poland in sparked the beginning of World War II. During the war, Germany, along with the other Axis Powers, Japan and Italy, expanded into parts of Europe and Asia. Hitler invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and The Netherlands within the first two years of the war. Determined to create the perfect Aryan race, Hitler set up concentration camps all over Europe. Jews, Communists, and political enemies were imprisoned in these camps, and millions died while in them. However, after years of war and multiple significant losses, Hitler committed suicide.
