The Use and Misuse of Power in Ancient Times
Humankind has come a long way from the nomadic hunter gatherer who drew in caves. In time
society s formed, As society s flourished so did religion and power. A great way to understand an
ancient society is from the ruins of structures and the art left behind. The Palace Complex of Sargon ll,
the Giza Funerary Complex and the Palace at Knossos are all great examples of society s that are run
through religion and power. Delving into the relics that were left behind give a look into each society
and how it worked. The Palace Complex of Sargon ll was a wonderful example of the concept of
absolute power. From the huge gated entrance to the citadel, to the throne room with a carefully
controlled program of architectural and sculptural propaganda designed to intimidate visitors
(Schneider Adams pg. 70) power and promotion of the King is the only focus. A society led by fear. I
would be remiss if I did not mention the more than intimidating Lamassu waiting to pounce. The
Palace is designed to say, this is a powerful king, as powerful if not more powerful than the gods. The
religious ziggurat at this time is an accessory to the powerful Palace. Religion decisions are made by
the king. The Giza Funerary Complex is much more religious than power based. The main function is
several Pharaohs burial tombs. The religious procedure to put a King to rest very precise and detailed
manor. The complex had Temples and Chapels which helped with offerings and ceremonial events. A

Juveniles Are Legal Law Of An Alternate State
A juvenile for jurisdictional purposes as an individual between the ages of 10 to 18 years old, albeit in
a few expresses 16 and 17 year olds may be dealt with as grown ups when they have perpetrated a
wrongdoing. A delinquent child is characterized for the most part as a youngster who has damaged any
state or neighborhood law; a government law or law of an alternate state; or who has gotten away
from control in a nearby or state remedial office. Juveniles are liable to police mediation for a more
extensive scope of practices than are grown ups. Greater part of youngsters confess to participating in

Since 1974 with the passage of the National Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act,
programs have been established, by the juvenile justice system and child welfare system, to
supplement short term crisis intervention to runaway youth (Rose, ND). A young person may enjoy
criminal exercises because of peer pressure. There are umpteen reasons on what can lead an
adolescent to perpetrate a wrongdoing, and usually it is discovered that peer pressure assumes a
conspicuous part in it. High school is a stage when the individual is creating and adapting through

These are a few reasons why youngsters wind up perpetrating criminal acts under peer pressure. Peer
pressure can be difficult for a child. Peer pressure is when a person does something they normally

The Last Of The Mohicans Movie Essay
In the time of the 7 years war, is the timeframe which The last of the Mohicans was written in and
then later, made into a film based on the novel. I will be describing the plot, both the historical
accuracies and inaccuracies, the film themes, and my opinion of the acting, all on the 1992 film. I was
completely impressed with this film. Not having read the book I cannot compare the two, however I
can compare what I saw with actual events from that time and what I saw. The plot of this film starts
out in 1757, the American colonies are in the middle of the third year of the French and Indian War.
This war was comprised of English and French soldiers fighting for the possession of the continent. It
starts out with this quote in the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It lingers too much on either the romance or the feud between Magua and Col. Munroe. All great parts
of the story, yes, however, if you were watching The Last of the Mohicans purely for historical
purposes and to find out things about the war, you wouldn t learn much. Yes, the movie (and the book
as well I m sure), does depict for the most part of what I could tell, everything accurately. It is the
point of it not showing enough about this huge event in our history. How did the war get started? Who
won the war? What all tribes and alliances aided both sides? There are a lot of left out details,
unfortunately, which makes it hard to follow the details of the French and Indian war. For example,
the fight between Magua and his Indians against Munroe and the English was quite a bit less violent
than what is led to believe. Not to forget, we are not shown the reaction of Montcalm in finding out
his Huron Indians disobeyed him in letting the English go safely. Also, the deepest inaccuracies I do
believe come from what the book had written and what the movie chose to tell us. Those things aside
though, it is a marvelous film. Yes, there are some inaccuracies in this film and probably even in the
book, however, for a Hollywood production, I think they outdid themselves (did amazing). It can be a
little hard to follow at times, but the film is overall

Spotlight Tom Mccarthy
The 2015 movie Spotlight, directed by Tom McCarthy, revolves around a team of four investigative
journalists from The Boston Globe as they go around Boston to uncover cases of widespread systemic
child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests. The movie highlights the efforts of journalists in gathering
reliable information in order to report the truth to the masses. In following the process of how
journalists get information and contact sources for a story, the movie has successfully depicted the
bureaucracy in government agencies, the psychological trauma that both journalists and
sources/victims go through, and it has even shown how the press can sometimes be negligent on
various important issues. Content wise, Spotlight managed to hook viewers to watch until the end and
see how the story unfolds. Aside from it being a true story, the content was interesting enough

Given that the movie would mostly feature long conversations between characters, it could have
played around with its camera angles to prevent it from being plain and boring. Even the establishing
shots were plain. Almost all of the establishing shots were shots following the characters walking to
the next scene/setting. Some could not even be called establishing shots since they really did not
establish properly the place where the characters were currently at.
Spotlight would have been a close to perfect movie. The content was already a sure attention grabber.
It only lacked in execution. Despite that, it can still be considered as a great movie. It was not just
informative, but it was also eye opening. It reminded the public of the press credibility that they do not
make up stories, and that they work hard to obtain information for their stories and deliver this
information in its simplest form so the general public can easily understand. The panelists of the
forum that took place after the film showing helped stress out this

Super Bakery is a distinguished company created in 1990. The company has is a supplier of mineral,
vitamin, and protein enriched doughnuts. The strategy applied by the company is job order cost
method. Job costing is a product costing system when costs are accumulated by specific job orders and
assigned to batches of products. In other words, manufacturing costs are assigned to specific job,
specific customers, specific orders, specific projects, and specific contracts. Job costing is preferable

The ABC method means that all the individual activities part of a process can be accurately cost. This
is what Super Bakery needs to set the value of the company based on the activities of individual assets
(management, staff, manufacturing and warehouse). The activity based cost system allows the
company to identify where high (and low) costs are being incurred and the cause. How can a company
survive with a 20% growth rate in twenty year duration? The desire to change was required and ABC
is the best cost system for Super Bakery. The ABC method helps with future product planning and the
cost of all activities associated with a product or service can be accurately determined before it is
launched. This can help with determining pricing, and any associated expenditures of the company.
The objective was to move from the concept of job cost system that the company mimicked. The
notion of job order is a disadvantage to Super Bakery. The order cost of its customers was at a fixed
cost. The problem exist as the orders with high margins subsidized low margins. Profit margins are not
recognized by the cash flow produced by order. A process cost system could be used by the company
but will impose disadvantages. Process costing advantages include the ability for companies to create
a cost for products where it is difficult to track cost flows for each

The Impact Of Environmental Performance On The Consumption...
Companies face a multitude of challenges when it comes to Supply Chain management ranging from
profitability and cost management to visibility and customer satisfaction. With the increased
awareness of environmental practices, there is an expectation that businesses should evolve to be more
environmentally conscious. As stated from a 1987 Brundtland Report known as Our Common Future ,
(WCED, 1987) sustainable development is one that meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The influence of
environmental performance is a growing decision criteria for customers in the consumption of
products/services. This is evident from a survey conducted by the Natural Marketing Institute (Kaiser,
2008) which reveals that 30 percent of American consumers are willing to pay 20 percent more for
products made in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
A growing number of companies are working towards incorporating environmental and socially
responsible business practices to their value chains, from suppliers to customers. By doing so, the not
only tackle the many risks, social and environmental, and challenges inherent in supply chain
management, but also reap the many benefits that supply chain sustainability can offer.

from raw material acquisition to delivering the final product to the customers. They work

Alexander The Great Dbq Essay
Father: Faced with strong opposition he had Callisthenes executed! Alexander does not truly care for
Macedonians; he just wants to be king of the Persian Empire, seen as divine, even a god. Callisthenes
was a threat to Alexander, as his opposition to his political decisions was widely heard and known.
There is no solid proof that Callisthenes was a part of the Royal Pages conspiracy, Alexander just
wanted an excuse to put him to death. Being a ready ear to the talk of the pages when they were
criticising and finding fault with the king6 is simply no excuse to torture and execute him all without

Does that not seem to you like betrayal and rejection of his own people? Alexander could never have
had it both ways. As the conquerors we will never accept the customs of the conquered. Political move
it may have been, but it was the wrong one. At the trial of the royal pages conspiracy, it was stated to
Alexander that he abhorred the customs of his own country. Thus it was the king of Persians, not of
the Macedonians that they wanted to kill13. Alexander has simply become so far removed from his
own people that some do not even see him as their own king. The plot against his life was to pursue
him as a deserter in accordance with the conventions of war14. When a sailor rescued Alexander s
crown from the sea and placed it on his own head to keep it dry and out of harm s way, he was
rewarded handsomely for the rescue. When it was pointed out by another to Alexander that the crown
had been on another s head, regardless of the situation he had the same man promptly executed on the
belief that it was a bad omen. With the adoption of Persian luxury came outright abuse of power and

Beer Wars Film Analysis
Introduction
A documentary film made in 2009, Beer wars features and describes the American beer industry
distinguishing between the large and small breweries. The large breweries feature some main
corporate companies like Coors Brewing Company, Anheuser Busch, and Miller Brewing Company
whereas the small breweries include craft beer producers like Moonshot 69, Stone Brewing Company,
Dogfish Head Brewery, Yuengling, and others. The documentary shows how the beer market is
controlled through advertising and lobbying, which is harmful for the competition in the market.
There is a reason why the small companies are falling behind and the large corporates are controlling
the market, which in turn makes it essentially oligopoly economy.

The film depicts an insight of the beer industry and its current state in America. It shows some
unexplored or hidden facts and journey of the beer industry which is intended to interest the beer
lovers. Beer Wars film describes the daily battles in the beer industry between well established
corporate beer brands and some of the upcoming innovative beer breweries. The independent and the
small breweries introduce new and innovative craft beer in this high profitable beer industry.
The documentary shows how the two small beer entrepreneurs, Rhonda and Sam try to establish
themselves in the beer industry and success in the high potential market. The film shows that the beer
industry is governed by some difficult and outdated laws along with an oligopoly of the large brands.
These large brands manipulate the beer industry by acquiring and buying off the smaller brands which
they find competitive among the market. The small brewers thus face difficulties and barriers
establishing themselves in the American beer industry. The big giants like the Coors Brewing
Company, Anheuser Busch, and the Miller Brewing Company face challenge from the independent
craft beer producers when these new brands are put on shelves; so they seek ways to prevent
distribution and production of these small brands, which is harmful for the competition in the beer
industry. Sam Calagione and Rhonda Kallman are considered as small entrepreneurs in the beer
industry who struggle from the large brands, the difficult laws, and the less competitive but highly

Compare And Contrast The New England And Massachusetts...
Although the New England and Chesapeake colonies were settled by people of English origin, by
1700 they were two distinct societies. What accounts for these differences? Basically, the motives, the
geography and the values of the people in the colonies were combined to form two very separate
societies in Massachusetts and Virginia. Of course both societies contain settlers from Britain.
However, the motives and the values in each society were drastically different from each other. Most
people who went to Massachusetts have done so because they hope to create an utopia for their
religious beliefs. Most people to Virginia, look for economic opportunity in many different ways.
People who have gone to Virginia were seeking economic opportunity. Some were there to look for
gold, but others came to work as indentured servants for a few years. Additionally, there were people
sent to serve as wives for the men already there. In return for their service as servants, they should
have acquired passage to America, shelter, food, and clothes (Indenture Agreement Between Richard
Smyth and Margaret Williams, 1659). Those who were in pursuit for gold, were also traveling because

Observation Of Students At A Seventh Grade Math Classroom
Observation of Student While observing the students in my classroom, I focused on how engaging and
motivated they were. The eighth graders at Pine Forest did not have a good seventh grade math
teacher, so the students are very behind. They know that they are behind because Mrs. McLamb tells
them all the time. Instead of it discouraging them, it motivated the students to want to learn. They
know that they must catch up, so I saw the students trying their best to stay focused and be engaged. I
noticed while observing that a majority of the class was engaged. I honestly was not expecting this in
a math class at 7:30 in the morning. The first day I got there, one student said they had the best math
scores in the entire county. So, Mrs. McLamb pulled the up the previous test scores and showed them
they were third. I could tell the kids did not want to be third and wanted to be first. They found a
reason to learn, and I think that is very important. I did notice that students were not taking notes. I
found this odd because it was obvious that they wanted to learn but they never took any notes. One of
my days of observing, I got to observe a seventh grade math classroom. I was curious to see what the
seventh grades are learning to ensure that they are not behind like the current eighth graders. The
teacher was making sure the students learned what they need to know to be ready for eighth grade.
The class I observed was a group of AIG students. Like the eighth grade students,

The use of therapeutic use of self is engrained throughout the philosophies of occupational therapy. It
becomes an integral part of the therapist. Semour (2012) explains it as planned and deliberate
interactions with a client. It is a multifaceted approach involving the building of rapport to establish
the relationship with the client, being sensitive to a clients personal experiences and ensuring the
therapist practices remain client centred (Semour, 2012). The therapist needs to understand the clients

I realized that nowhere in my practice did I provide diagnostic assessments to help me analyze

to collect and compile much more informative data on student knowledge in these areas, and how to
use these measures to help improve student learning.
My first goal became to develop and acquire a bank of formative assessments and diagnostic questions

Students that extend and apply ideas inappropriately elsewhere are overgeneralizing. Students that
have difficulty distinguishing between two concepts, or create hybrids of concepts, have partial
conceptions. Finally, students that have misinterpreted and internalized prior content have conceptual
misunderstandings. If an educator can identify the type of misconception, they can create better
tailored instruction.
In order to uncover the misconceptions my students had prior to teaching a new learning target, I
decided to administer short, diagnostic probes that put emphasis on explanations of their thinking and
reasoning (in place of an answer only response). I stressed that this was not graded, instead meant to
help me understand their thinking so I could plan, design, and provide instruction that would be much
more responsive to their needs. This was the first time I administered a formative assessment prior to a
lesson.
The first learning target probe (p 135) focused on uncovering any misconceptions prior to teaching
theorems about lines, angles, and triangles, such as vertical angles are congruent, measures of interior
angles of a triangle sum to 180, and the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of a
triangle. Specifically, I was looking to see if they recognized congruent and supplementary angle
relationships based on their logical reasoning of properties, or

Development of a Prenatal Baby
Shannon was born at 23 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 pound 7 oz. She was hospitalized for five
month, and this experience itself is a concern for developmental delays. She is now 12 months of age
chronologically, and 9 months developmentally. Shannon s areas of concern are her visual impairment
as well as developmental delays in motor, cognitive, communication and social and emotional areas.
Shannon appears to be in the neonate stage of development regardless of her chronological and
developmental age; due to her under developed respiratory system, digestive system, cognitive,
communication and motor system.
Regarding communication, receptive language is an area of concern; I would say Shannon although 9
months developmental age is functioning at a developmental age of 3 5 months in this area: turning
her head to sounds and watching faces of a speaker. Shannon has shown receptive communication for
example; the sound of a rattle which Beth places in her hand and helped shake. Evidence of
developmental stage in the 3 5 month range from the case study; Shannon turned her head away from
the window and toward Beth and Shannon s attempt to maintain focus on Beth s face.
Second area of concern is fine motor; Shannon is at1 2 month developmental age evident through the
fact that she can hold a grasp on an object, but cannot release it voluntarily. In the gross motor
category, Shannon is also at1 2 month developmental age. Shannon lacks postural controls, and has

Thesis About Yaeba
Young Japanese women and girls are suffering from the Yaeba Complex. Unlike their counterparts in
many other developed nations who view straight teeth as perfection, the Japanese are instead opting to
undergo the expensive and painful procedure of creating crooked teeth. In this essay, through the
lenses of the growing Yaeba trend, I will account for the reasons that contribute to this seemingly
weird Japanese obsession of a preference for an imperfect smile, and study the possible societal issues
that have resulted in the former s emergence. A cross country analysis between Japan and America

Westernised Japan and the West itself. Yaeba ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is in part due to numerous Japanese celebrities hopping onto the bandwagon of Yaeba procedures
(Considine, 2011), playing an instrumental role in popularising and defining a new beauty fashion.
Indeed, a quick search on the internet churns out dozens of websites highlighting numerous prominent
Japanese celebrities proudly displaying their Yaeba, with the phrase cute , ubiquitous in the
descriptions . Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in pursuit of cute beauty, I
posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to conclusion. After all, a social trend
highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I question if the Yaeba fascination points out to
an underlying female subordination trend, where women are simply keen to please men. It has been
suggested in various accounts that Japanese men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus,
2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority
of men as protectors and evokes a desire for men to protect women. Such an unhealthy obsession with
women possessing child like appearance also seems to be sexualising women (Considine, 2011) into
symbols of possession, and belittling women as a weaker sex that is dependent on men for

Homo Suburbiensis by Bruce Dawe.
Introduction: Homo Suburbiensis is as much a poem about the human condition, as it is a record of
one man s escape from the demands of his existence. Homo Suburbiensis uses one man s escape from
his demands to represent our universal need to contemplate and resolve our own uncertainties in life in
our own special place. Dawe uses a series of imagery to depict the workings of our minds and a chain
of unpleasent sensory experiences to illustrate unwanted intrusions in our lives. Through the vague
depictions of these intrusions Dawe urges us not to give great attention to them, but to offer to the
world, our most truthful emotions and thoughts. The man in the poem is not just a one individual.

How Are Small Form Factor PCs Used in a Medical Setting?
If you have been to see your doctor lately or been in the hospital for any reason, chances are pretty
good you have seen at least one, if not more, type of small form factor PC at work. The typical small
form factor PC resembles a tablet or all in one computer and offers a number of advantages such as
self sufficiency and Wi Fi connectivity that makes it the perfect candidate for use in this type of
environment.
In Use Throughout the Healthcare Industry
Today the healthcare industry makes use of small form factor PCs like those manufactured by
Cybernet in a wide variety of applications. These include the patient exam rooms where both the
doctor and the nursing staff use tablets to update ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the idea of trying to work with the standard desktop or even average laptop computer can be
less than appealing due to size, weight, and inconvenience. On the other hand, forward thinking
medical facilities are arming their staff with the latest in medical grade small form factor PCs.
The Modern Small Form Factor PC
The modern tablet PC can best be described as offering users the best features of notebook PCs,
PDAs, and paper records. These devices provide the user with complete access to top of the line
mobile computing, without the aggravations and trade offs these devices required. Today s tablets and
all in one PCs are designed to use the latest operating systems and medical software. Users can input
information via a stylus or digital pen as well as the built in virtual keyboard.
Another major consideration is choosing to employ small form factor PCs is the ability to update
information using more than one method. While all of the tablets and all in one units offered by
Cybernet are Wi Fi enabled, they can also be connected directly to a docking station for charging and

Robert Mugabe Research Paper
Robert Mugabe Feasts at 92; Country Still Starving
According to the Daily Mail, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe s 92nd birthday cake weighed in
at the weight of a prize fighter a full 92 kilograms (just under 203 U.S. pounds). The overall party cost
upwards of a million dollars.
As the world s oldest living leader, you might think Mugabe has earned a nice party, but his country is
in financial ruin, drought has brought vast food shortages, and political turmoil continues to fuel
fighting throughout the country. The lavish party was viewed as a slap in the face of ordinary
Zimbabweans.

Most Americans don t live in a world where vote rigging, mass emigration, accusations of human
rights abuses and economic decline have been the standard for the last 36 years, and this year 75
percent of their maize crop was destroyed by drought. Maize is the staple food crop for the country.
Mugabe said that he has applied for aid and that no one would starve, but then he added that he would
not accept the aid if the country had to accept gay rights to get it. If aid, as I understand, is to be given
on the basis that we accept the principle of gay marriages, then let that aid stay where it is. We don t
want it. It is rotten aid, filthy aid and we won t have anything to do with it.
In addition to the drought, Zimbabwe suffers from hyper inflation as a result of Mugabe s reforms . He
seized all of the farms from white farmers and redistributed them to his supporters. When Mugabe
took power in 1980 after the British ceded control of the country, Zimbabwe was poised to be one of
the world s most promising economies. Mugabe s policies have thrown the country into economic
chaos, however, with its output less than half of what is was nearly 40 years ago.

The Planting Of Cover Crops

Was it really rapid or was it more of a laborious process? In my opinion, the rapid critical appraisal

the RCA process helped me to stay focused, analyze in depth information about the studies, and select
most relevant articles that would be beneficial in answering the PICOT question and appropriate for

The use of the term nigger can be used as a amicable greeting between two blacks, or as a hideous

used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter the meaning of the

Robbie Parker, accused of being a crisis actor, also broke down on camera while speaking at a press

make many claims, but they do not all hold true. To continue with Crisis Actors, theorists point out
family s reactions to their children s death that day. Emilie Parker, one of the twenty children killed at
Sandy Hook, has people questioning if she actually passed away that day. Theorists say that her father,
Robbie Parker, is seen getting into character before a press conference, which leads them to believe
that he is an actor or playing the role of a grieving father (Hallowell). Before he got up to speak at the
conference, he was supposedly laughing and smiling. Soon after he looked like he took a moment to

Robbie Parker doing this a line runs along the bottom of the video and reads, How many parents are

The Field Of Business Management

Business Management
In the field of business there are several fields of emphasis one can choose to focus their major on. I
chose to major in business management for several very distinct reasons that will appear in this paper.
The first reason I choose to focus on a management major was for the opportunity to work with other
people. Management requires collaboration as opposed to simply being an individual effort. The
second reason I am interested in the field of business management is that I am competitive. Because of
this I prefer to step up in a leadership position. The most significant reason for choosing my major is
that I believe in the saying, the greater the risk, the greater the rewards. I know that as a manager I
have to risk the most as the man in charge. I also recognize that I gain the most out of my successes
for putting the most on the line. These reasons that I will discuss in greater detail are the core of why I
chose to major in business management. As mentioned, my interest in business management comes
largely from a desire to collaborate with my peers, but this also means bringing together new
technologies that are modernizing business today. In his article, The Future of Management, Irving
Wladawsky Berger writes, Management talent is critical. As digitization permeates every nook and
cranny of every company, managers at all levels must be fluent in how to best

Integrated Approach For Counseling And Counseling
Integrated approach to counseling is when you combined theories to cover the clients feelings,
cognitive patterns, and behavior (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e,
2009). Each theory focuses one of these key components of a client but in counseling you need to
focus on each of these to fully help a client. The key to integrative counseling is to have multiple
theories function in harmony (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009).
Psychotherapy has four integration approaches; technical eclecticism, theoretical integration, common
factors approach, and assimilative integration. Psychotherapy integration is different than eclectic;
which is when therapist use theories because it works and uses no other reasoning when grabbing
from multiple theories (Stricker, An Introduction to Psychotherapy Integration, 2001). Psychotherapy
integration goes past the single theory approach to examine what can be learned and combined with
other theories (Stricker, Psychotherapy Integration, 2010). Technical eclecticism is when a counselor
uses their previous knowledge of a theory and experience combined with research to use interventions
on a client; this approach is thought of to be very close to eclectic practice (Stricker, Psychotherapy
Integration ). Technical eclecticism pull ideas from theories but do not necessarily subscribe to the
original positions of the theory (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e,

How Did Technology Affect The Cold War
Technologies played an important role in our lives before and right now. The development of the
science and technology promoted the progress of the society. The wide spread of using electricity
boosted economy around the world; the invention of the telephone made people s communication
become easier; airplanes make people travel longer distances in shorter times. As same as other time
period in the history, during the Cold War, the great inventors from different countries invented better
weapons and things to make their country win the war. Those new weapons and technologies changed
the strategies used by the commanders, the way the soldiers fight, and the form of the war.
Technologies certainly affect the war.
The Cold War period was a time that a lot of countries needed to develop their science and technology.
They needed new weapons to win the war, and their commanders could not confine themselves with

the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and other international focused bureaus and agencies have taken

Cultural Integration And Cultural Assimilation
Cultural Assimilation is a procedure by which a person s culture is transformed by another culture.
Throughout the world, many cultures are being assimilated into the Western way of life. The cultures
of ethnic groups in the United States and other countries are constantly influenced by the Western
culture through movies, singers, clothing brands, food companies, and new technology inventions.
Immigrants are expected to resemble the dominant culture in terms of norms, behavior and values.
The three factors that contribute to cultural assimilation are: people throughout the world are
influenced by the western fashion and can buy the same products distributed by multinational
companies globally. The growing number of intra racial and intra cultural marriages advocates cultural
assimilation.
The first factor that contributes to cultural assimilation is that people throughout the world are
influenced by the western fashion. Clothing companies like H M, Forever 21, American Eagle,
Aeropostale, Hollister, Express, and Abercrombie have global markets that portrays what we known as
the American style. In the United States women s of any age are attracted to fashion trends, even
though it might go against their own culture. Immigrants in the United States are influenced by
Western fashion. For example, my friend Beyza used to wear a hijab before moving to New York.

Essay on Eugenics
The roots of eugenics can be traced back to Britain in the early 1880 s when Sir Francis Galton
generated the term from the Greek word for well born . He defined eugenics as the science of
improving stock, whether human or animal. According to the American Eugenics Movement, today s
study of eugenics has many similarities to studies done in the early 20th century. Back then, Eugenics
was, quite literally, an effort to breed better human beings by encouraging the reproduction of people
with quot;good quot; genes and discouraging those with quot;bad quot; genes.

At the same time, cloning could operate as a form of positive eugenics, increasing the number of
births of babies with excellent health and high intelligence.
One thing that many people disagree upon is whether or not eugenics and genetic cloning is ethically
right or wrong. On one hand, it could eliminate children being born with life threatening diseases by
forewarning parents of potential medical problems. It is known that hemophilia, albinism, and certain
structural abnormalities are inheritable. Family gene maps, called pedigrees, can help families with
serious diseases avoid having children with the same diseases through genetic counseling, and,
increasingly, prospective parents can be tested directly for the presence of undesired genes. (Prothero)
Another possible use of genetics could be the production of healthy organs. For example, heart disease
is one of the top causes of death in the United States. Scientists predict that they will someday be able
to clone healthy heart cells and inject them into damaged areas of the heart to cure defects. There is
also a possibility that doctors will be able to take healthy cells and tissue from a patient s body and use
them to create organs. This would eliminate the need for organ donor waiting lists. People would no
longer be facing early death because there is not a healthy heart or other organ available to them.
At the same time, some people question if it is morally right to, in terms, play god . Some go

  • 5. The Last Of The Mohicans Movie Essay In the time of the 7 years war, is the timeframe which The last of the Mohicans was written in and then later, made into a film based on the novel. I will be describing the plot, both the historical accuracies and inaccuracies, the film themes, and my opinion of the acting, all on the 1992 film. I was completely impressed with this film. Not having read the book I cannot compare the two, however I can compare what I saw with actual events from that time and what I saw. The plot of this film starts out in 1757, the American colonies are in the middle of the third year of the French and Indian War. All great parts of the story, yes, however, if you were watching The Last of the Mohicans purely for historical purposes and to find out things about the war, you wouldn t learn much. Yes, the movie (and the book as well I m sure), does depict for the most part of what I could tell, everything accurately. It is the point of it not showing enough about this huge event in our history. How did the war get started? Who won the war? What all tribes and alliances aided both sides? There are a lot of left out details, unfortunately, which makes it hard to follow the details of the French and Indian war. For example, the fight between Magua and his Indians against Munroe and the English was quite a bit less violent than what is led to believe. Not to forget, we are not shown the reaction of Montcalm in finding out his Huron Indians disobeyed him in letting the English go safely. Also, the deepest inaccuracies I do believe come from what the book had written and what the movie chose to tell us. Those things aside though, it is a marvelous film. Yes, there are some inaccuracies in this film and probably even in the book, however, for a Hollywood production, I think they outdid themselves (did amazing). Spotlight Tom Mccarthy The 2015 movie Spotlight, directed by Tom McCarthy, revolves around a team of four investigative journalists from The Boston Globe as they go around Boston to uncover cases of widespread systemic child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests. The movie highlights the efforts of journalists in gathering reliable information in order to report the truth to the masses. In following the process of how journalists get information and contact sources for a story, the movie has successfully depicted the bureaucracy in government agencies, the psychological trauma that both journalists and sources/victims go through, and it has even shown how the press can sometimes be negligent on various important issues. Companies face a multitude of challenges when it comes to Supply Chain management ranging from profitability and cost management to visibility and customer satisfaction. With the increased awareness of environmental practices, there is an expectation that businesses should evolve to be more environmentally conscious. As stated from a 1987 Brundtland Report known as Our Common Future , (WCED, 1987) sustainable development is one that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The influence of environmental performance is a growing decision criteria for customers in the consumption of products/services. Basically, the motives, the geography and the values of the people in the colonies were combined to form two very separate societies in Massachusetts and Virginia. Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in pursuit of cute beauty, I posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to conclusion. After all, a social trend highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I question if the Yaeba fascination points out to an underlying female subordination trend, where women are simply keen to please men. It has been suggested in various accounts that Japanese men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus, 2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority of men as protectors and evokes a desire for men to protect women. It was a process requiring considerable effort and time. Though tedious, the RCA process helped me to stay focused, analyze in depth information about the studies, and select most relevant articles that would be beneficial in answering the PICOT question and appropriate for my evidence based practice(EBP) proposal. Marriott notes that the use of nigger is usually condoned and used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter the meaning of the word. Their goal is to normalize the usage of nigger between blacks to dull its edge whenever whites use it (Marriott 95). This has been proved somewhat efficient, as most whites dread the word and express feelings of disgust whenever it is heard from the mouth of whites. Also, Gene Rosen cried on camera while explaining his story (Stuart). The theorists can make many claims, but they do not all hold true. To continue with Crisis Actors, theorists point out family s reactions to their children s death that day. Emilie Parker, one of the twenty children killed at Sandy Hook, has people questioning if she actually passed away that day. Theorists say that her father, Robbie Parker, is seen getting into character before a press conference, which leads them to believe that he is an actor or playing the role of a grieving father (Hallowell). Before he got up to speak at the conference, he was supposedly laughing and smiling. Soon after he looked like he took a moment to compose himself and then let emotion over take himself. In a hoax video, when the clip is played of Robbie Parker doing this a line runs along the bottom of the video and reads, How many parents are laughing and joking a day after their first child has been shot? The Field Of Business Management Gerardo Gutierrez Courtney Graeff ENG 122 049 22 October 2014 Business Management In the field of business there are several fields of emphasis one can choose to focus their major on. I chose to major in business management for several very distinct reasons that will appear in this paper. The first reason I choose to focus on a management major was for the opportunity to work with other people. Management requires collaboration as opposed to simply being an individual effort. The second reason I am interested in the field of business management is that I am competitive. Because of this I prefer to step up in a leadership position. The most significant reason for choosing my major is that I believe in the saying, the greater the risk, the greater the rewards. I know that as a manager I have to risk the most as the man in charge. I also recognize that I gain the most out of my successes for putting the most on the line. These reasons that I will discuss in greater detail are the core of why I chose to major in business management. As mentioned, my interest in business management comes largely from a desire to collaborate with my peers, but this also means bringing together new technologies that are modernizing business today. In his article, The Future of Management, Irving Wladawsky Berger writes, Management talent is critical. As digitization permeates every nook and cranny of every company, managers at all levels must be fluent in how to best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Integrated Approach For Counseling And Counseling Integrated approach to counseling is when you combined theories to cover the clients feelings, cognitive patterns, and behavior (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009). Each theory focuses one of these key components of a client but in counseling you need to focus on each of these to fully help a client. The key to integrative counseling is to have multiple theories function in harmony (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009). Psychotherapy has four integration approaches; technical eclecticism, theoretical integration, common factors approach, and assimilative integration. Psychotherapy integration is different than eclectic; which is when therapist use theories because it works and uses no other reasoning when grabbing from multiple theories (Stricker, An Introduction to Psychotherapy Integration, 2001). Psychotherapy integration goes past the single theory approach to examine what can be learned and combined with other theories (Stricker, Psychotherapy Integration, 2010). Technical eclecticism is when a counselor uses their previous knowledge of a theory and experience combined with research to use interventions on a client; this approach is thought of to be very close to eclectic practice (Stricker, Psychotherapy Integration ). Technical eclecticism pull ideas from theories but do not necessarily subscribe to the original positions of the theory (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, ... It is known that hemophilia, albinism, and certain structural abnormalities are inheritable. Family gene maps, called pedigrees, can help families with serious diseases avoid having children with the same diseases through genetic counseling, and, increasingly, prospective parents can be tested directly for the presence of undesired genes.
