EH-Muulsep And SEP Case Study
In the first scenario, we considered two types of heterogeneous nodes ($2418$ $class$ $1$ and
$1582$ $class$ $2$). Figure ref{fhlnds s1} shows the $F!N!D$, $L!N!D$, and $H!N!D$ in the
three protocols for scenario 1, while Figures ref{alive vs rounds s1} and ref{energy vs rounds s1}
show the number of active nodes and the total amount of dissipated energy over the simulation time
(rounds) respectively. As we can see from these figures, EH mulSEP provides a better performance
than that of SEP and mulSEP versions. It increases the stable region over the traditional SEP and
mulSEP by $135%$ and $37%$; and the total network lifetime by $101%$ and $82%$ respectively.
Also, we can see that EH mulSEP dissipates the least amount of ... Show more content on

The average values of lifetime measures with respect to different fractions of alive nodes are shown in
Table ref{lifetime numbers s1} for all the protocol along with the percentage improvement (lifetime
gain) achieved by EH mulSEP.
However, this indicates that EH mulSEP is able to enlarge the operation time of nodes in the large
scale networks, so they die much slower and hence, achieves higher levels of power conservation.

A Worn Path Summary
A Worn Path(Maria Ma)
Symbolize
Now I want to talk about symbolize in the story, a worn path.
Phoenix
The name of the main character, the old Negro woman, is Phoenix. Phoenix, in the Greek Mythology,
associated with the Sun, it obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor.(From
Wikipedia) Back to the story, when our main character Phoenix is on her way to the city, there are so
many difficulties that she is facing bush catches her dress, a black dog goes towards her and she fall
into the ditch, etc. To old Phoenix, it is hard to go through the path; she may fall off at any time.
However, every time after she concord a difficulty, it seems that she reborn.
2. The path
The concept path symbolizes a lot in the story. Through the path the negro woman passed, Eudora
Welty shows what the Negroes suffered when they were fighting for the equity. As a result, the path
means the path of the black liberation.
On the long road to town, Phoenix walks form the morning to the night; it is like that a human is on
his/her way of life. The road has beauty, of course, danger. If you have a clear target, you will have the
wheels of process. The walk was hard, just like what Phoenix says: Seem like there is chains about my
feet, time I get this far. Something always take a hold of me on this hill pleads I should stay.

A Interview On A Man Named Jack Bauwer Who Was An...
I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran which
took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major purpose of the
war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as Operation Enduring
Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and weaken the Al Qaeda
militia and their Taliban supporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while we had gone for a
swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood California. Tony Michaels,
Kim and I were present at the time of the interview.
Memory Jogging
Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies
at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a
shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer
explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting
the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to
ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting new
members into the force and that is how he joined the army. He underwent basic combat training, which
was really tough but he had no option but to persevere and face the challenges as they came. Many of
his counterparts quit in the process. Jack was enlisted in

Tort Law Reform And The Law Of Negligence
Introduction
A Tort is a legal construct and is not to be confused with a wrong in the general sense. It only exists
where the law exists The question is, Where there is no debate or argument that a duty of care is owed
to customers, public, employees where possibility of a risk may occur, that the scope of liability in the
tort of negligence or breach of duty.
In 2002, a Review of the Law of Negligence in Australia conducted by panel and chaired by the
Honourable David Ipp (known as the IPP Report) and the Recommendation 28 of the Standard of Care
and Breach of Duty and Remedies/ Damages. As Stuart and Clark summarise, there has been major
hurdles across the country and codifying common law in the NT would be fruitless. Tort Law Reform.
While the tort law reform process has been identified above as a driver in the move to class actions,
the system of reform undertaken at both federal and state levels has had a number of important
outcomes, namely reform to the law of negligence. Amendments to limitation periods, and the
capping, or extinguishing, of certain heads of damage.
Definition of Duty of Care , and Standard of Care:
A Duty of Care An Obligation imposed on a person to take reasonable care to ensure that they do not
cause another person to suffer harm. Duty is frequently determined by reference to established
categories, for example, doctors to patients: ; 109 ALR 62. When in doubt, there is no settled
methodology for establishing duty of care

Portrayal Of Women In The Film Mulan
Disney tends to take stories changing them for today s audience. Disney films are just one example of
fictional texts. Fictional texts including the 1998 film Mulan, contains fictional content however
encompasses some historical truth. The role of women in Ancient China was to stay home doing
feminine tasks. In the film Mulan, it portrays an accurate role of women in society and the household,
but incorrect when examining women in warfare. The role of women in Ancient China was to stay
home completing ladylike activities. Women stayed home doing domestic jobs. However, women in
different castes may have learnt to do different things. According to Oxford Big Ideas Textbook,

In the image, one lady is looking after children, two are doing calligraphy, one is dancing and one
weaving cloth. This images evinces the women s role in Ancient China. These jobs have continued to
be a part of the modern world, changing as technology was introduced. The film Mulan does not
contain all of this information, making Mulan a fictional source. Mulan is reliable regarding women s
role in the household, but unreliable with women in warfare. In the film, Disney emphasises the
punishment of women participation in warfare. In figure 2 when Mulan and her father argue is reliable
because she spoke out towards her father. This is supported by words of mother of Mencius, stating
she must submit to her parents. (Ebrey, P.B 1993) Women in Ancient China obeyed men, making this
aspect of Mulan reliable. The animated sequence where Mulan is pardoned after being discovered a
girl is not reliable because women participation in warfare was not a crime. In The world of Ancient
China written by J.B. Grosier, it states no law against women participating in warfare. Nevertheless,
women didn t participate because discrimination made female warriors unusual. This scene in the film

Essay On Corruption And Corruption In Corrections
As someone that worked in corrections for 16 years, I have seen corruption events at both the state
level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of
corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations
with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff are
ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the staff has
sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical actions
have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and state levels
across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see these
corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give them but
also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that those that
work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But when we
see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement community we must
ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and the ethical
understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct in corrections
and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law enforcement officers

Non Excludability And Non Rivalrous Consumption
Imagine this: a car with a newly repaired suspension and a recent alignment job on four new tires
driving on a poorly maintained road filled with holes. In the span of ten minutes, the car has driven
over four potholes about half of a foot deep, and the two thousand dollars that were spent on the car
are all wasted in that short drive. Public goods are a large part of our life. The condition of the roads
we drives on and the sidewalk we walk on, the jobs we get, and the house we can afford to live in are
all influenced directly by the public goods. According to Tyler Cowen, professor of Economics at
George Mason University, public goods are anything that has non excludability and non rivalrous
consumption. In other words, it cannot be kept from those who do not contribute and can be used by
multiple people at the same time. In the Atlanta metropolitan area, the distribution of public goods is
on vastly different levels. Because public goods are funded through taxes, the income gap in various
areas of the metropolitan area plays a huge factor in the distribution of the goods. A wealthier region s
tax fund is significantly higher because of the higher price range, especially on everyday goods and the
availability of services. One great example is Milton High School located in North Fulton County
where income averages are in the sixth digit and Banneker High School in South Fulton with a five
digit average. Milton has an above Georgia average in both mathematics and English,

There was a return to a monophonic texture for the cello and the dynamics became pianissimo. Since
this movement s form was ostinato, I heard short melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic patterns repeated.
This piece was long, at twelve minutes, and at one point I stopped taking notes, in awe of what I was
hearing. The entire piece felt symmetrical to me and was sing able throughout. Beethoven s Sonata 3,
Opus 69 nears a close with a texture that was heterophonic, dynamics that go from forte to piano and a
bright tone color for cello and piano. The melody remained conjunct with a contour that was wavelike,
by ascending and descending, especially for the piano. The tempo returned to allegro throughout this
piece and ended with the dynamics returning to forte and the final cadence as the harmony resolved in
consonance. The second movement of Beethoven s Sonata in A Major, Opus 69 was Scherzo: Allegro
molto and began with Jordan Anders playing the opening notes of the melody in a narrow range with a
melodic movement that was conjunct. The texture here was monophonic for only a few measures. The
timbre of the piano was bright and the harmony was minor. I heard the second movement in triple
meter, and by the time the cello began to play there seemed to be a return to the polyphonic texture
which was common in the first movement. The movement of the melody was disjunct with a medium
range, the dynamics of the piano soft (piano) and the tempo

Increased Patient Responsibility
We like to think of medicine as a vast sea of knowledge, a science of certainty and applied research
intended to heal and cure. Patients visit their doctors expecting to be diagnosed, prescribed, and
treated. For several patients, this optimistic outlook is in fact the order of things. But, for many others,
medicine is an experimental endeavor and very human in nature. Atul Gawande, in his collection of
essays entitled Complications: A Surgeon s Notes on an Imperfect Science, sheds light on this view of
medicine as a field of possibilities and dead ends, improvements and failures. In spite of the many
changes brought forth by medicine, the evolution of the patient and doctor relationship into one that
redefines the role of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This once popular perception of medicine is in a sense antiquated. Still, by admitting that there exists a
discrepancy between the past and present views of the patient doctor dynamic, the expanding role of
the patient can be recognized. The riskiness and unpredictability of medical care have made physicians
more anxious in terms of the treatments they recommend to their patients, such that the patients are
now the ultimate authority with respect to their health. Doctors today are taking a more liberal
approach to medicine. This development has indirectly provided patients with the freedom to explore
their own personal medical goals. Gawande describes the case of a twenty one year old woman who
was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in one of her breasts. Her surgeon, who normally advised his
patients with breast cancer to undergo a mastectomy, felt forced to reconsider this operation, as he was
hesitant about removing the breast of a woman so young. He instead discussed with her other possible
treatment options, explaining their benefits and risks (211). The patient, provided with the proper
information and resources, was given the opportunity to define her own well being. It was a decision
that she would have to live with for the rest of her life, and so only she had the right to make that
decision. Such issues have modified the patient experience by

Pass The Opium, Please Essay
Religion is said to be the opiate of the masses, and it is definitely a point of interest in George Orwell s
famous novel Animal Farm. In it, Orwell pointedly attacks religion in general and Christianity in
particular through the use of a well placed symbolic bird by the name of Moses. Orwell s stance is
rather apparent as Moses darts about the farm scene conveying the duality of Christianity quite
superbly.
At the first mention of the raven Moses, one immediately gets the impression that he stands for
something quite larger than just a simple bird that lives on the Manor Farm. Firstly his name, Moses, is
an obvious biblical reference conveying the idea that he may stand for religion or Christianity. It is not
a subtle point that Orwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his reference to Sugercandy Mountain there is an obvious correlation to the kingdom of heaven in
traditional Christian belief. This reinforces the idea in the reader s mind that Moses is most definitely
standing for Christianity in this story. But so far Orwell has not made any criticisms against
Christianity or religion, he has merely set up the character. The first time we get the idea that Orwell
may be viewing Moses with a critical eye is when he describes the bird as being lazy and unwilling to
do any. All the bird is apparently good for is to lie around all day and warm up to Mr. Jones, all the
while getting special treats and even getting to venture inside the farm house. This is a very deliberate
shot against the Christian religion. Orwell is painting a very critical portrait of Christianity as a tired
and pathetic institution that is no longer living up to the ideals it once so vehemently believed in. But
of course this institution, or Moses, still talks grandly about the kingdom of Sugercandy Mountain and
how all good Russians and animals will go there when they die to live an existence of eternal bliss.
This part of Moses s involvement is basically telling the acutely aware reader a very pointed lesson:
that not all that shines is sure to be gold (or God in this case). The last mention of Moses at his initial
involvement leaves quite an interesting taste

Seamus Heaney s Blackberry Picking and Death of a Naturalist Blackberry Picking gives a lucid
description of basically, picking blackberries. However it is really about hope and disappointment and
how things never quite live up to expectations. Blackberry picking becomes a metaphor for other
experiences such as the lack of optimism already being realised at an early age and the sense of
naivety looked upon from an adult analysing his childhood; Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they
would not , consequently a sense of regret. Death of A Naturalist is similar to Blackberry Picking in its

The tripling used suggests the lexis is one of confusion and passion; Sent us out with milk cans, pea
tins, jam pots . Likewise to Blackberry Picking, Death of A Naturalist also has a fairly simple
structure. In the first section, Heaney describes how the frogs would spawn in the lint hole, with a
digression into him collecting the spawn, and how his teacher encouraged his childish interest in the
process. The poem s title is amusingly ironic by a naturalist , we would normally mean someone with
expert scientific knowledge of living things and ecology. The young Heaney certainly was beginning
to know nature from direct observation but this incident cut short the possible scientific career before
it had ever begun. Also by death of a naturalist he does not wish to be a part of this life. The poet notes
the festering in the flax dam, but can cope with this familiar lexis of things rotting and spawn hatching.
Perhaps, as an inquisitive child he felt some pride in not being squeamish he thinks of the bubbles
form the process as gargling delicately . There is a nostalgic feeling as he continues to take his
childhood for granted. He has an almost scientific interest in knowing the proper names bullfrog and
frogspawn rather than the teacher s patronizing talk of mummy and daddy , this development is

The Core Values Of Zappos
The holacratic model has, already, been adopted by for profit and non profit organizations in several
countries. For the purpose of an incubation chamber, Zappos.com has been the first organizational
reality to deploy it. Zappos is an online shoe and clothing shop founded in 1999 and owned by
Amazon since 2009. During the negotiations with Amazon, internal management s primary concern
was to maintain the company culture intact throughout the acquisition process, because a culture that
embraces the idiosyncrasies of each individual is what keeps the firm alive and healthy. Such an
emphasis on employees manifested itself in drawing up the ten core values of the Zappos family:
deliver wow through service;
embrace and drive change;
create fun and a little weirdness;
be adventurous, creative, and open minded;
pursue growth and learning;
build open and honest relationships with communication;
build a positive team and family spirit;
do more with less;
be passionate and determined;
be humble.
The company has, even, its own consulting unit to help others emulate the Zappos way and folklore. In
2015, Zappos formerly adopted Holacracy. One of Holacracy s most significant innovations is making
governance something that happens at every level of the organization. Governance becomes an

Fashion Week s Impact on American Society
Question
When I was young, I had a large appeal with fashion week. My friend and I would impersonate the
runway models in my living room, dressing up in my mother s clothes and laying stuffed animals out
like attendees. This fascination carried into high school, I found it as an opportunity to demonstrate my
style to a larger audience. Fashion week was intriguing to me because it provided a way to express
myself in a unique way and show a side of my own creativity. I anticipated this project would give me
a chance to learn more about the role fashion week plays in society.

Google s search bar, this search provided loads of information leaving me with surplus evidence
relating to fashion week s effect on the economy. Also, I researched fashion week, social and social
standards, fashion week , which is how I covered the majority of my section on fashion/fashion week s
effects on social distinctions and social classes. Lastly, I had to find at least one source that was not
web related, so I went to my local library and asked the librarian for books relating to fashion week.
Unfortunately, she did not know of any books and suggested me to the encyclopedia, yet the

The Douglas DC 3 is a fixed wing propeller driven airliner. Its cruise speed (207 mph or 333 km/h)

Women in Pre-Eighteenth Century Literature Essay
Throughout history woman have been portrayed in novels, often with varying degrees of sexism and/
or realism. From the representation of Mary Magdalene in The Bible, right through to J.K Rowling s
Hermione Granger, story tellers and subsequent authors have seen fit to include such characters in
their work.
Of course one must remember that a lot of such novels would have been written by male authors, as
was considered proper and that many female authors such as the Bronte sisters, who famously wrote
under the masculine pseudonyms of Action , Currer and Ellis Bell were not permitted to write at all
and had to do so under false names.

However, it must be noted further that the whole of the second paragraph makes great use of imagery
and descriptive language, going to great detail as to describe the lady s facial features and indeed
general appearance. Smollett also goes further though, as he describes her manor, and attitude.
However, it must be noted that there is a distinct lack of insight into the lady s actual character,
showing perhaps a lack of knowledge in this area. Indeed, the next paragraph goes on to further
demean the female sex in general, as it portrays the other ladies as petty and frivolous caring only of
looks and reputation among the right type of society.
If the reader had know clue as to the age of this text, then they could easily ascertain that it is

In modern stories, the protagonist anti hero displays trends to either invoke more empathy or less
empathy from the audience. The three types of anti heroes are satanic, promethean, and byronic. A
satanic anti hero is an individual who seeks an evil goal. Macbeth, a satanic anti hero, is dauntless and

addition to his life at home, he is also influenced by his teachers. At school, there were certain teachers
who would hurt the children any way they could. The Happiest Days of Our Lives shows that Pink had
been bullied for writing poems, an activity he enjoyed doing. Another Brick in the Wall, pt. 2 portrays
school as a prison; a toxic environment where children were treated as animals, not humans. Pink s
individuality and freedom was stripped away from him and he faced humiliation. To avoid future
humiliation, Pink adds another brick in the wall surrounding him; further alienation. In Macbeth s

People Are Really Good At Heart
Anne is an especially optimistic and whimsical girl who wants everyone to be cheerful, spite the
numerous conditions she has gone through. The play The Diary of Anne Frank ends with the
statement, In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote is by
Anne Frank and reveals that Anne still has hope that World War II will end soon. I believe Anne
asserted this on behalf of lifting everyone s spirits with hope. Also, Anne wants to stay strong and
continue being positive throughout her ordeal. My final, and utmost supportive idea, is that far and
wide, Anne wants to try to remain hopeful. In the next couple paragraphs, I will be discussing
evidence to back this up.
The quote Anne implied at the end of the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, voices the opinion that Anne
announced this quote because she wanted to lift everybody s spirits by sharing her hope with family
and friends. When Anne gave her whole family gifts she attempted to lift everybody s spirits.

Wayne Williams Thesis Statement
Wayne Williams was born on May 27th, 1958 to Homer and Faye Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. He
graduated from Douglass High School and furthered his education at Georgia State University, but
later dropped out to explore a new talent. Williams took a specific interest in music, pursuing a career
in radio and managing a band. Williams educational background and career both were pivotal to his
defense. In 1979, children and teens seemed to simple vanish. Each child met certain criteria: young,
black, and from Atlanta. The first two victims, Edward Smith and Alfred Evans, who were both 14
years old, disappeared four days apart in June. Both of their bodies were found close together in a
remote, wooded area of South Atlanta one month later. Nine year old Yusuf Bell went missing on
October 21st, 1979 and his body was recovered November 8th of the same year. Police did not connect
the dots with Bell s murder because he was fully clothed, found in a remote area, but was strangled to
death, unlike Smith and Evans, who were shot with a .22 caliber. Williams next alleged victim, 12 year
old Angel Lenair, was also strangled. She was found in an abandoned lot, fully clothed, with child
underwear stuffed in her mouth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The racial tension and confession of KKK members surrounding the murder are also very suspicious.
Were the confessions thoroughly investigated? Witnesses of many of the child murders also note two
black men, not one. It is very hard to believe that only one person acted alone to plan, kidnap, and
murder all 30 victims of a two year span. If Williams was guilty, should it have been more evidence
and convicted of more than just two murders? I am unsure if Wayne Williams committed these crimes,
due to the lack of evidence, the ease of the trial, and biological

Christopher Novan s Use Of Narrative Structure In Memento
In Christopher Nolan s 2001 neo noir psychological thriller, Memento, he explores the idea of trust
through a unique narrative structure. The film explores trust through the protagonist, Leonard Shelby
and his interactions with characters, Natalie and Teddy in his hunt for the man who raped his wife. The
structure of the film is split into two parts: colour scenes (the main plot line) and black and white
scenes (the sub plot line). Nolan alternates between the two; however, the colour scenes are shown
backwards in time, from Leonard s point of view, in first person; and the black and whites scenes are
told forwards in a documentary style with just voice over and simple images.
The start of the film opens with a scene literally shown backwards, which makes the audience aware
of the structure of the way the story will be told. There is repetition within the colour scenes, when one
colour scenes starts it is the end of the next one. The use of this makes the audience rethink everything
they have been told in the previous scene. This adds the effect of watching the film how Leonard
would perceive it. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However this is not the case: Teddy is the one helping Leonard find the man who raped his wife and

structured Teddy is made out to be the bad person, but towards the end of the movie it is found out that
Teddy was there the whole time to help Leonard and make sure that nothing happens to him on his
investigation. Due to the unique narrative structure of this film, the perception of Teddy is all wrong.
Nolan uses this technique as it makes the audience form their own views on the characters and keeps
them guessing until the end of the film. Due to the narrative structure, the film relies heavily on first
impressions on characters, however, these views change as the film

How Does Mary Wroth Explore The Negative Aspects Of Love
Within their respective works, both Ben Jonson and Mary Wroth explore the negative aspects of love
in vastly different ways. Jonson trivializes love, and makes a woman appear shallow in, My Picture
Left in Scotland . Jonson appears to be exploring a kind of superficial love, as well as his expectations
for how great poets, such as himself, should be treated by woman. Alternately, Wroth expresses the
terrible amount of pain that can come from love in, Sonnet 68 . She clearly has experienced a great and
devastating loss, and is reeling in the aftermath of losing some sort of genuine love. Both have quite
different complaints about love, but share a similar tone, sense of hopelessness, and vivid imagery.
The first similarity between these two works is simply the fact that in neither work does the reader ...

In Wroth s work, one merely learns that they broke her heart, and the way that the speaker now feels as
a result. Similarly, in Jonson s work, the reader is only informed that this woman rejected the speaker
of the poem. It would appear that both of the love interests within the works are not the focus of the
pieces, but merely agents, which the poets can use to delve into the treacherous features of love. Both
poets want the reader to focus not on who broke their heart, but on ulterior messages within the works.
There is a tone of both desperation and hopelessness in both of the works. Jonson is coming to the
realization that since he is unattractive it will be hard for him to obtain a relationship. In the opening
stanza, he speaks of how love is not blind, but it is deaf. He is talking about the fact that women do
notice that he is unattractive, and they reject him based on this. He believes that love cannot be blind,
due to the fact that besides his looks, he has other positive attributes that are being ignored, due to his
looks. Jonson

Residential Building Sector
The residential building sector is one of the major energy consumers in North America. It accounts for
17% of energy used in Canada, resulting in 70 megatons (Mt) of annual greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) 2008). According to Natural

Due to the importance of reducing energy consumption from limited energy sources and minimizing

In this regard, Hamelin and Zmeureanu (2014) conducted a lifecycle cost analysis (LCCA) in a single
family home in Québec; they presented the optimum thermal resistance value of building envelope
that achieved the minimum lifecycle cost. The insulation level of recommended design in their study
was much higher than code requirements. This is due to the fact that the lifespan of an actual house is
quite long, which provides a substantial energy savings from better insulation and would have offset
the additional initial cost in this case.
Given that cost is an important consideration in construction, this thesis aims to identify energy
efficient code compliant solutions for cold climates from a cost efficiency point of view.

Ways Hartley and Frayn present Childhood in The...
In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first person
narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the themes of
growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the portrayal of
Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative
which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new
era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28).
Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of

p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively
emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and
suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1.
p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood
and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship
between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his
feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183).
Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult
narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve
attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame
for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader
feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like
sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship
between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees

Antoine Arnauld s Five Propositions
To defend themselves from monarchial persecution, the nuns of Port Royal employed gender
paradoxes. In the 1660s, Louis XIV required all clergy to sign a formulary which required them to

invoking the Pauline interdictions, which prohibited them from taking an oath on a theological matter
that they were not allowed to study or discuss, even though there was a small, but influential group of

In response to the formulary, a schism developed among the nuns: those who wanted to sign it with
Antoine Arnauld s right/fact distinction, a clause which denounced the condemned doctrine with heart
and mouth but requested the signer s right to remain silent on the issue of whether or not the five
propositions and the heretical doctrine in question appeared in Jansen s text, signing a distinction that
would more openly defend Jansen, or not signing it at all. One issue with Arnauld s mandement was
that some of the nuns were incapable of understanding it; Angélique de Saint Jean wrote to Antoine
Arnauld, . . . il se trouve toûjours que ces personnes dont j ai parlé font souvent difficulte de les signer,
sous pretexte qu elles n ont pas vû toutes les choses qu on y rapporte, qui font d ordinaire les entretiens

understood the mandement, they could not explain its obscurities to those who were truly ignorant
because, according to Kostroun, educating some of these nuns would not only be a hopeless cause
because of their lack of intelligence but it would also force the convent to contradict what it had
maintained all along, which is that the nuns never talked about the Jansenist debates . .

The Hope by: Herman Wouk
The book The Hope is the story of Zev Barak, Benny Luria, Sam Pasternak, Kishote, four of Israel s
army officers during the major battles and struggles of Israel from 1948 until 1967. The War of
Independence, The Six Day War, and the 1956 Sinai Campaigns were all major events that had major
effects on Israel.
The book starts out with the war of independence in the town of Latrun with the Haganah 7th brigade.
The battle of Latrun was a battle that took place in beginning phases of the war. This battle was a

The work of art I choose is an oil paint by Defendente Ferrari. As an altarpiece showing the Virgin and

day the importance in recognizing the impact of agreed upon pricing allowances or rebate offerings
and how they ultimately impact the company s bottom line. Likewise, we work very closely with Sales
and Marketing and report our review and findings to help them to make better pricing decisions that

Senior Management Commitment
As Harris and Davenport mention in Competing on Analytics , it is extremely necessary for
management to support and commit to integrating analytics in order for a company to become an
analytical competitor. (Davenport and Harris, 2007) Specific to Impax, there has been a lot of recent
change in management and minimal push down to incorporate analytics for better decision making.
While we are capable and do utilize a fair degree of analytics in our day to day operations,
unfortunately, I find its use tends to be more retroactive in nature than proactive.
Large Scale Ambition
I think this idea of large scale ambition is more an area of opportunity for Impax. We tend to use the
more tried and proven analytical techniques found in the pharma industry and lack a clear strategic
focus to take us outside the box into new and unchartered competitive territory. Again, this is not too
far strayed from management s survival approach or our distinct capability to manage revenue;
however, Harris and Davenport mention ambition can present risk, but the scale and scope of results
should be at least large enough to create company fortunes. (Davenport and Harris, 2007)
Describe your company s progress within each stage of competing on analytics.

The Impact Of The Colorado Gold Rush In Colorado
If you had the opportunity to get rich from gold, would you? Would you be willing to leave everything
you have behind to move thousands of miles across the country just for gold? In 1859, the answer for
many people was yes. Word of gold found throughout Colorado spread across the country and
launched the Pike s Peak Gold Rush or today known as the Colorado Gold Rush. There are several
significant events in Colorado history that have had a huge impact on the state we know today. The
Colorado Gold Rush, in 1859, was the most significant event in Colorado History for several reasons;
the rush attracted thousands of people to our state, initiated the mining of other resources, succored
farming and ranching throughout the state and helped to boost the economy of the towns here in
Colorado. The gold rush had a massive impact on several aspects of Colorado during the time and
these aspects continue to be apart of Colorado still today. Because of the Colorado Gold Rush, people
swarmed into the state in hopes of becoming rich. Even though many of these people were go backers
, the people that did stay helped with the development of mining towns all throughout the state. A Pike
s Peak journalist described the flocking of people claiming thousands from the farther East swarmed
into the Missouri valley towns, and enough hardy souls crossed the Plains in the fall of 1858 to give
the newly founded towns of Auraria and Denver at the mouth of Cherry creek on the South Platte

Emergency Medicine Admission Essay
Emergency Medicine became a potential career option for me after I obtained my Emergency Medical
Technician Basic Certification the year before I entered medical school. I worked full time in the
emergency department as a patient transporter, which gave me the privilege of witnessing and
participating in the daily work of the physicians and nurses.
My shifts were ten hours long, four days a week, and I took it upon myself to speak with patients and
physicians whenever I had the chance. Two new doctors, who had just finished their residency
training, began their first jobs the month I had started mine. As I began inquiring about some of the
things I saw and heard, they could not help but notice my burning desire to learn more about the
practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They shared my enthusiasm when they weren t overwhelmed with critical patients and treated me as
an enrolled medical student. They pointed out X ray findings and ECG strips of some significance
unknown to me at the time, If they had an interesting patient they would introduce me and request
permission for me to observe. I recall one of the physicians quizzing me about a patient who had a true
situs inversus on her chest X ray, and I will never forget my conversations with a young man with
signs and symptoms consistent with new onset Lyme Disease.
The fact that I remember these specific scenarios is only testament to my impressionable nature at the
time. I am truly grateful for the time spent learning with those physicians, nurses and patients. Their
encouragement and feedback helped prepare me for medical school in ways I could not have
calculated, and my time with them seems very brief in retrospect.
When I did get accepted about eight months into the job, they cheered for me and told me how proud
they were of my accomplishments. On my last shift, one of the physicians presented me with a new
copy of Netter s Human Anatomy Atlas which had been signed on the inside cover by all the
emergency doctors, much like a high school yearbook. I cannot imagine a more satisfying and
inspirational welcoming into the field of

How The Supply Chain Has Evolved Over The Years
The supply chain has evolved over the years. With new businesses that are on the rise in the
competitive world it is important to stay on top. Different merchants create better deals that cause
relationships between the suppliers and their customers to the end. I wanted to explore those
relationships and research the history of the supply chain . I wanted to know how things were ran and
how they are able to sustain business when the economy changes.
How supply chain management has evolved In the 1940s and 1950s, the focus of logistics research
was on how to use mechanization (e.g., pallets and pallet lifts) to improve the very labor intensive
processes of material handling and how to take better advantage of space using racking and better
warehouse design and layout. The unit load concept gained popularity and the use of pallets became
widespread. In the mid 1950s, this concept was extended to transportation management with the
development of inter modal containers together with ships, trains, and trucks to handle these
containers. By the 1960s, a clear trend had developed in shifting more time dependent freight
transportation to truck rather than rail. This led to the need for joint consideration of warehousing,
material handling, and freight transportation, which emerged under the label of Physical Distribution.
Since the 1980s, computer technology has advanced at such a phenomenal rate that it is currently far
ahead of the ability of the supply and logistics field

Weakness Of The Constitution By Louis Seidman
The Constitution The Constitution, that has been used to govern this country over the last 200 years
has become ineffective and out dated. The constitution can no longer serve the purpose it was designed
adequately. Weakness to modern society and strong resistance to change has made this country almost
immune to change. Louis Michael Seidman, a Carmack Water House Professor of Constitutional law
at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. suggest that the Constitution is no longer
useful for the modern day society because the constitution is old fashioned. Seidman points out some
of the out dated and dysfunctional systems implemented by the constitution, such as revenue measure
must originate in the lower chamber and the fact that the political system keeps people from debating
the merits of divisive issues. Seidman also points out the strong obedience people have to the
constitution, which creates a strong resistance to change. Although Seidman believes the ... Show more

Liptak points out the dysfunctionality of the constitution using the fact that the constitution strongly
protects the Right to Bear Arms, but it is weak when dealing with other rights. Some of the rights that
are not strongly protected by the constitution include travel rights protection, presumption of
innocence, entitlement to food, education and health care. Liptak recognizes the significance of the
constitution and understands the important role it played in this country becoming America. But he
also understands that the constitution was created because the Articles of Confederation did not give
the government enough centralized power and the constitution was the best option. The outcome of
this has created a strong urge to preserve and not change the

I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran which took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major purpose of the war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as Operation Enduring Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and weaken the Al Qaeda militia and their Taliban supporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while we had gone for a swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood California. Tony Michaels, Kim and I were present at the time of the interview. Memory Jogging Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. • 8. Essay On Corruption And Corruption In Corrections As someone that worked in corrections for 16 years, I have seen corruption events at both the state level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff are ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the staff has sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical actions have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and state levels across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see these corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give them but also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that those that work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But when we see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement community we must ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and the ethical understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct in corrections and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law enforcement officers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Non Excludability And Non Rivalrous Consumption Imagine this: a car with a newly repaired suspension and a recent alignment job on four new tires driving on a poorly maintained road filled with holes. In the span of ten minutes, the car has driven over four potholes about half of a foot deep, and the two thousand dollars that were spent on the car are all wasted in that short drive. Public goods are a large part of our life. The condition of the roads we drives on and the sidewalk we walk on, the jobs we get, and the house we can afford to live in are all influenced directly by the public goods. According to Tyler Cowen, professor of Economics at George Mason University, public goods are anything that has non excludability and non rivalrous consumption. In other words, it cannot be kept from those who do not contribute and can be used by multiple people at the same time. In the Atlanta metropolitan area, the distribution of public goods is on vastly different levels. Because public goods are funded through taxes, the income gap in various areas of the metropolitan area plays a huge factor in the distribution of the goods. A wealthier region s tax fund is significantly higher because of the higher price range, especially on everyday goods and the availability of services. One great example is Milton High School located in North Fulton County where income averages are in the sixth digit and Banneker High School in South Fulton with a five digit average. Since this movement s form was ostinato, I heard short melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic patterns repeated. This piece was long, at twelve minutes, and at one point I stopped taking notes, in awe of what I was hearing. The entire piece felt symmetrical to me and was sing able throughout. Beethoven s Sonata 3, Opus 69 nears a close with a texture that was heterophonic, dynamics that go from forte to piano and a bright tone color for cello and piano. The melody remained conjunct with a contour that was wavelike, by ascending and descending, especially for the piano. The tempo returned to allegro throughout this piece and ended with the dynamics returning to forte and the final cadence as the harmony resolved in consonance. The second movement of Beethoven s Sonata in A Major, Opus 69 was Scherzo: Allegro molto and began with Jordan Anders playing the opening notes of the melody in a narrow range with a melodic movement that was conjunct. The texture here was monophonic for only a few measures. The timbre of the piano was bright and the harmony was minor. I heard the second movement in triple meter, and by the time the cello began to play there seemed to be a return to the polyphonic texture which was common in the first movement. • 11. Increased Patient Responsibility We like to think of medicine as a vast sea of knowledge, a science of certainty and applied research intended to heal and cure. Patients visit their doctors expecting to be diagnosed, prescribed, and treated. For several patients, this optimistic outlook is in fact the order of things. But, for many others, medicine is an experimental endeavor and very human in nature. Atul Gawande, in his collection of essays entitled Complications: A Surgeon s Notes on an Imperfect Science, sheds light on this view of medicine as a field of possibilities and dead ends, improvements and failures. In spite of the many changes brought forth by medicine, the evolution of the patient and doctor relationship into one that redefines the role of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This once popular perception of medicine is in a sense antiquated. Still, by admitting that there exists a discrepancy between the past and present views of the patient doctor dynamic, the expanding role of the patient can be recognized. The riskiness and unpredictability of medical care have made physicians more anxious in terms of the treatments they recommend to their patients, such that the patients are now the ultimate authority with respect to their health. Doctors today are taking a more liberal approach to medicine. This development has indirectly provided patients with the freedom to explore their own personal medical goals. Gawande describes the case of a twenty one year old woman who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in one of her breasts. Her surgeon, who normally advised his patients with breast cancer to undergo a mastectomy, felt forced to reconsider this operation, as he was hesitant about removing the breast of a woman so young. He instead discussed with her other possible treatment options, explaining their benefits and risks (211). The patient, provided with the proper information and resources, was given the opportunity to define her own well being. It was a decision that she would have to live with for the rest of her life, and so only she had the right to make that decision. Such issues have modified the patient experience by ... • 12. Pass The Opium, Please Essay Religion is said to be the opiate of the masses, and it is definitely a point of interest in George Orwell s famous novel Animal Farm. In it, Orwell pointedly attacks religion in general and Christianity in particular through the use of a well placed symbolic bird by the name of Moses. Orwell s stance is rather apparent as Moses darts about the farm scene conveying the duality of Christianity quite superbly. At the first mention of the raven Moses, one immediately gets the impression that he stands for something quite larger than just a simple bird that lives on the Manor Farm. Firstly his name, Moses, is an obvious biblical reference conveying the idea that he may stand for religion or Christianity. It is not a subtle point that Orwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his reference to Sugercandy Mountain there is an obvious correlation to the kingdom of heaven in traditional Christian belief. This reinforces the idea in the reader s mind that Moses is most definitely standing for Christianity in this story. But so far Orwell has not made any criticisms against Christianity or religion, he has merely set up the character. The first time we get the idea that Orwell may be viewing Moses with a critical eye is when he describes the bird as being lazy and unwilling to do any. All the bird is apparently good for is to lie around all day and warm up to Mr. Jones, all the while getting special treats and even getting to venture inside the farm house. This is a very deliberate shot against the Christian religion. Orwell is painting a very critical portrait of Christianity as a tired and pathetic institution that is no longer living up to the ideals it once so vehemently believed in. But of course this institution, or Moses, still talks grandly about the kingdom of Sugercandy Mountain and how all good Russians and animals will go there when they die to live an existence of eternal bliss. This part of Moses s involvement is basically telling the acutely aware reader a very pointed lesson: that not all that shines is sure to be gold (or God in this case). The last mention of Moses at his initial involvement leaves quite an interesting taste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A byronic anti hero is an individual who has unclear goals and questionable means. They are unpredictable, moody, mysterious, and is often self destructive. The play The Diary of Anne Frank ends with the statement, In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote is by Anne Frank and reveals that Anne still has hope that World War II will end soon. I believe Anne asserted this on behalf of lifting everyone s spirits with hope. Christopher Novan s Use Of Narrative Structure In Memento In Christopher Nolan s 2001 neo noir psychological thriller, Memento, he explores the idea of trust through a unique narrative structure. The film explores trust through the protagonist, Leonard Shelby and his interactions with characters, Natalie and Teddy in his hunt for the man who raped his wife. The structure of the film is split into two parts: colour scenes (the main plot line) and black and white scenes (the sub plot line). Nolan alternates between the two; however, the colour scenes are shown backwards in time, from Leonard s point of view, in first person; and the black and whites scenes are told forwards in a documentary style with just voice over and simple images. The start of the film opens with a scene literally shown backwards, which makes the audience aware of the structure of the way the story will be told. There is repetition within the colour scenes, when one colour scenes starts it is the end of the next one. Jonson trivializes love, and makes a woman appear shallow in, My Picture Left in Scotland . Jonson appears to be exploring a kind of superficial love, as well as his expectations for how great poets, such as himself, should be treated by woman. Alternately, Wroth expresses the terrible amount of pain that can come from love in, Sonnet 68 . She clearly has experienced a great and devastating loss, and is reeling in the aftermath of losing some sort of genuine love. Both poets want the reader to focus not on who broke their heart, but on ulterior messages within the works. There is a tone of both desperation and hopelessness in both of the works. Jonson is coming to the realization that since he is unattractive it will be hard for him to obtain a relationship. In the opening stanza, he speaks of how love is not blind, but it is deaf. In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). I also feel as though Pavlov s classical conditioning theory was observed as people learn through associations between stimuli and responses, I feel that by Dave killing a pedophile he some how felt vindicated, because he was given no choice when he was abducted and tortured, in his mind maybe he felt as though this pedophile shouldn t have the choice to live, and he could gain some power, again stimuli and ... • 40. Distinctive Capability. Due To The Environmental Pricing Distinctive Capability Due to the environmental pricing pressures and the company s recent survival mentality, I believe that pricing and revenue management would best describe Impax s distinctive capability. Pricing and Revenue management drive majority, if not all, of our analytic usage and consequent business decisions across the company. I personally work in Finance, as a Rebate Analyst so I witness every day the importance in recognizing the impact of agreed upon pricing allowances or rebate offerings and how they ultimately impact the company s bottom line. Likewise, we work very closely with Sales and Marketing and report our review and findings to help them to make better pricing decisions that maximize our revenue in the long ... Senior Management Commitment As Harris and Davenport mention in Competing on Analytics , it is extremely necessary for management to support and commit to integrating analytics in order for a company to become an analytical competitor. (Davenport and Harris, 2007) Specific to Impax, there has been a lot of recent change in management and minimal push down to incorporate analytics for better decision making. While we are capable and do utilize a fair degree of analytics in our day to day operations, unfortunately, I find its use tends to be more retroactive in nature than proactive. Large Scale Ambition I think this idea of large scale ambition is more an area of opportunity for Impax. We tend to use the more tried and proven analytical techniques found in the pharma industry and lack a clear strategic focus to take us outside the box into new and unchartered competitive territory. Again, this is not too far strayed from management s survival approach or our distinct capability to manage revenue; however, Harris and Davenport mention ambition can present risk, but the scale and scope of results should be at least large enough to create company fortunes. (Davenport and Harris, 2007) Describe your company s progress within each stage of competing on analytics. Stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Impact Of The Colorado Gold Rush In Colorado If you had the opportunity to get rich from gold, would you? Would you be willing to leave everything you have behind to move thousands of miles across the country just for gold? In 1859, the answer for many people was yes. Word of gold found throughout Colorado spread across the country and launched the Pike s Peak Gold Rush or today known as the Colorado Gold Rush. There are several significant events in Colorado history that have had a huge impact on the state we know today. The Colorado Gold Rush, in 1859, was the most significant event in Colorado History for several reasons; the rush attracted thousands of people to our state, initiated the mining of other resources, succored farming and ranching throughout the state and helped to boost the economy of the towns here in Colorado. The gold rush had a massive impact on several aspects of Colorado during the time and these aspects continue to be apart of Colorado still today. Because of the Colorado Gold Rush, people swarmed into the state in hopes of becoming rich. Even though many of these people were go backers , the people that did stay helped with the development of mining towns all throughout the state. A Pike s Peak journalist described the flocking of people claiming thousands from the farther East swarmed into the Missouri valley towns, and enough hardy souls crossed the Plains in the fall of 1858 to give the newly founded towns of Auraria and Denver at the mouth of Cherry creek on the South Platte about 125 ... • 43. Emergency Medicine Admission Essay Emergency Medicine became a potential career option for me after I obtained my Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification the year before I entered medical school. I worked full time in the emergency department as a patient transporter, which gave me the privilege of witnessing and participating in the daily work of the physicians and nurses. My shifts were ten hours long, four days a week, and I took it upon myself to speak with patients and physicians whenever I had the chance. Two new doctors, who had just finished their residency training, began their first jobs the month I had started mine. As I began inquiring about some of the things I saw and heard, they could not help but notice my burning desire to learn more about the practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They shared my enthusiasm when they weren t overwhelmed with critical patients and treated me as an enrolled medical student. They pointed out X ray findings and ECG strips of some significance unknown to me at the time, If they had an interesting patient they would introduce me and request permission for me to observe. I recall one of the physicians quizzing me about a patient who had a true situs inversus on her chest X ray, and I will never forget my conversations with a young man with signs and symptoms consistent with new onset Lyme Disease. The fact that I remember these specific scenarios is only testament to my impressionable nature at the time. I am truly grateful for the time spent learning with those physicians, nurses and patients. Their encouragement and feedback helped prepare me for medical school in ways I could not have calculated, and my time with them seems very brief in retrospect. When I did get accepted about eight months into the job, they cheered for me and told me how proud they were of my accomplishments. On my last shift, one of the physicians presented me with a new copy of Netter s Human Anatomy Atlas which had been signed on the inside cover by all the emergency doctors, much like a high school yearbook. I cannot imagine a more satisfying and inspirational welcoming into the field of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. How The Supply Chain Has Evolved Over The Years The supply chain has evolved over the years. With new businesses that are on the rise in the competitive world it is important to stay on top. Different merchants create better deals that cause relationships between the suppliers and their customers to the end. I wanted to explore those relationships and research the history of the supply chain . I wanted to know how things were ran and how they are able to sustain business when the economy changes. How supply chain management has evolved In the 1940s and 1950s, the focus of logistics research was on how to use mechanization (e.g., pallets and pallet lifts) to improve the very labor intensive processes of material handling and how to take better advantage of space using racking and better warehouse design and layout. The unit load concept gained popularity and the use of pallets became widespread. In the mid 1950s, this concept was extended to transportation management with the development of inter modal containers together with ships, trains, and trucks to handle these containers. By the 1960s, a clear trend had developed in shifting more time dependent freight transportation to truck rather than rail. This led to the need for joint consideration of warehousing, material handling, and freight transportation, which emerged under the label of Physical Distribution. Since the 1980s, computer technology has advanced at such a phenomenal rate that it is currently far ahead of the ability of the supply and logistics field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Weakness Of The Constitution By Louis Seidman The Constitution The Constitution, that has been used to govern this country over the last 200 years has become ineffective and out dated. The constitution can no longer serve the purpose it was designed adequately. Weakness to modern society and strong resistance to change has made this country almost immune to change. Louis Michael Seidman, a Carmack Water House Professor of Constitutional law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. suggest that the Constitution is no longer useful for the modern day society because the constitution is old fashioned. Seidman points out some of the out dated and dysfunctional systems implemented by the constitution, such as revenue measure must originate in the lower chamber and the fact that the political system keeps people from debating the merits of divisive issues. Seidman also points out the strong obedience people have to the constitution, which creates a strong resistance to change. Although Seidman believes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liptak points out the dysfunctionality of the constitution using the fact that the constitution strongly protects the Right to Bear Arms, but it is weak when dealing with other rights. Some of the rights that are not strongly protected by the constitution include travel rights protection, presumption of innocence, entitlement to food, education and health care. Liptak recognizes the significance of the constitution and understands the important role it played in this country becoming America. But he also understands that the constitution was created because the Articles of Confederation did not give the government enough centralized power and the constitution was the best option.
