The Impact Of Football Stadiums
The Impact Football Stadiums Have When governments build stadiums for a sport team millions of
dollars are involved in the process. Since the government pays for these stadiums, it s our tax dollars
that are used. Building a stadium has more disadvantages than advantages. The government doesn t
make a lot of money from the stadiums compared to how much money the government spent on
building the stadium. When a team owner wants to build a new stadium, the team owner asks the
government for the money, so the team owner doesn t have to pay for to stadium. In the past decade
there has been in up rise in stadiums being built. According to the article Point: Local Government

The article Point: Local Government Should not be Involved in Financing Stadiums stated, Eli Jacobs
bought the Baltimore Orioles for $70 million and sold it for $173 million (Pearson Konczal, 2016).
The team owner got an extra profit of $100 million just because a new stadium was built from the tax
payers money. Team owners can make easy money, by having the state build a new stadium for that
team. The team owner gets hundreds of millions of dollars because of this. The team owner makes
money from parking fees, snacks sold, tickets sold, and food trucks outside. After the team owner has
paid their bill the rest of the money is the team owners. When a state, or a city funds a stadium to be
built the funder gets little to no money in return. Stadiums on average cost about $1 billion annually.
We are paying to fund these stadiums instead of doing something that would benefit us. Stadiums
bring no revenue to local businesses and hurt the community. Stadium only benefit the team and the
team owners by giving them more money. Everyone is at a loss when a stadium is built, except the
team owner. Works Cited Bouchard, E., English, M. (2016). Sports Facilities Government Funding:

Essay on Durkheim and Marx Theories Applied to Drug Laws
All societies have rules and regulations as well as penalties for those who violate them. There are
numerous theories about the philosophy behind these laws and punishments, and the reasons we
implement them. A short analysis of two of these perspectives can shed light on the differences
between the various ideas while illustrating that, in reality, each theory carries some validity.
Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx s perspectives on the law are significantly different. Durkheim s view
is based upon the belief that a society s legal system reflects the values of society as a whole, while
Marx s view is based upon the belief that laws reflect a continuing conflict between the classes. An
examanation of how these two perspectives perceive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David Garland agrees with this and writes, penal measures are shaped not just by patterns of
criminality themselves linked to the conditions of life of marginal groups and their relation to other
classes but primarily by governmental perceptions of the poor as a social problem and the preferred
strategies for their treatment (page 134).
In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s, drug use became a major concern for most Americans. As the War
on Drugs and Just Say No campaign were being thrust into the spotlight by the government and
media, the public became more aware of the scope of drug use and abuse in this country. The federal
and states governments quickly responded by creating and implementing more harsh and punitive
punishments for drug offenses. Most of these laws have either remained unchanged or become stricter
in the years since then.
According to the Durkheimian perspective, the public sees drug use as an unacceptable behavior and
recognizes it as a threat to morality and values. As such, drug users must be punished in order to
restore societal harmony and deter future offenses. The increasingly punitive reaction to drug use in
the 1980 s can be seen as a reaction to the public s increasing perception that drugs are a threat to the
moral fabric of society. By inflicting severe punishment on drug offenders, the community is satisfied
with the knowledge that drug addicts are paying for

Cannibalism In The Cars Essay
Cannibalism in the Cars is a short story written by American writer Mark Twain in 1868. The reason I
chose to appreciate and write about this literary work is Mark Twain s supreme use of cunning and
witty language portrayed on a contrasting canvas, that will survive, I believe, the test of time. This
essay will primarily focus on two recurring motifs that, I assume, were the basic building blocks on
which this humorous short story was built.
The first recurring motif in the first half of the story is the aforementioned utilization of contrast.
While Mark Twain is widely considered a realist author, the use of this motif further suggests that
Mark Twain was inspired by elements of romantic literary movement. Contrast in the story is used to

When the passengers begin feasting on their fellow companions due to lack of available food, the
narrator is so delighted and satisfied that he could not resist saying a few funny and at the same time
disturbing remarks. This prompts the question as to how our preferences change depending on the
situation. I liked Harris. This is perhaps a better example of ambiguity depending on the context rather
than lexical or structural ambiguity. One of the next victims elected to be devoured was mister
Morgan. The narrator comments on his redeeming qualities, that have little to do with how the
gentleman tasted. There is no correlation between these two qualities and lack of empathy or regret
from side of the narrator displays how cruel the writing is.
Cannibalism in the Cars in many aspects depicts a social eco system of the real world. Built on
political affairs of voting and climbing through ranks of surviving suggests a parallel to the real
political processes where eating a certain man represents climbing the political ladder. The short story
contains a lot of symbols, that may be interpreted in various ways depending on a reader but it as well
emphasizes the merit this literary work brings to the

Gandhi s Early Self Identification
Early days
Mahatma Gandhi was the primary leader of India s independence movement and also the architect of a
form of non violent civil disobedience that would influence the world.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Gandhi, was born to Putlibai on October 2nd,
1869 in Porabandar,India. His father, Karamchand Uttamchand Gandhi served as the Diwan chief
minister of Porbandar state.
The Indian classics, especially the stories of and king Harishchandra, had a great impact on Gandhi in
his childhood. Gandhi s early self identification with truth and love as supreme values is traceable to
these epic characters. On 21 January 1879, Mohandas entered the local district school in Rajkot, not
far from his home. At school, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mavji Dave, a brahmin priest and family friend, advised Gandhi that he should qualify as a barrister in
London, after which he would be certain to achieve the diwanship. Initially, Putlibai did not want her
youngest son to leave India and travel across the ocean, thereby losing his caste according to believes
at that time. But somehow Gandhi convinced and got the permission to leave. On 10 August 1888,
Gandhi left Porbandar for Bombay (Mumbai). Upon arrival in the port, he was met by the head of the
Modh Bania community, who had known Gandhi s family for a while. Having learned of Gandhi s
plans, he and other elders warned Gandhi that he would be excommunicated if he did not remain in
India. Gandhi did not change his intentions to leave for England, therefore being daclared and outcast.
While in London his mother died, but his family kept the news from him.
South Africa
Gandhi was 24 when he arrived in South Africa in 1893 to work as a legal representative for the
Muslim Indian Traders based in the city of Pretoria. He spent 21 years in South Africa, where he
developed his political views, ethics and political leadership skills. Indians in South Africa included
wealthy Muslims, who employed Gandhi as a lawyer, and impoverished Hindu indentured labourers
with very limited rights. He believed that he understood India better by getting to know and leading

Social Policy Within The Global Economy
When discussing social policy within the current global economy, it s quite impossible to ignore the
effects of globalisation on nation states but also in the overall global economy in relation to poverty,
environmental changes, trade, culture etc. Globalisation is a highly contested term due to its broad
definition which causes confusion as to what it actually means (Gills, 2002; Higgot, 1999). Yeates
(2002) refers to globalisation as the loosening of boundaries of things such as trade, labour and
migration and further goes on to speak of strong globalisation to indicate the intensity and inevitable
nature especially in relation to the constraints globalisation poses on national governments and the
policy making process. Events such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There will also be a heavy focus on transnational corporations as they are seen as one of the most
important actors in shaping social policy. It is important to remember that globalisation in not only
about economic effects but it can also be discussed in relation to political globalisation and how
political decisions have shifted due to upwards to the European Union and beyond also cultural
globalisation that has seen the Mcdonalization of traditional culture into the international culture of
consumerism (Ritzer,1993).
Ginsburg (2001) looked as social policy within Ireland and the UK and argues that changes that have
occurred within the nation state have been due to neo liberal hegemony. During the 1980 s under the
Margaret Thatcher administration there was an adaptation of neo liberalism as restraints were put on
social expenditure, taxation of individuals and corporations and there was an increase in the flexibility
of labour markets as the markets are seen as wealth creating mechanisms (Ginsburg, 2001; Cerny and
Evans, 2004). The intensification of neo liberal globalisation has left governments trying to find a
balance between competing with demands of economic globalisation whilst also considering the
possible economic and

Native Americans In The 19th Century
9. In the late 19th century, the United States population tripled from the 1850s. The arrival of 16.2
million immigrants fueled this growth. However, beginning in the 1890s, most European immigrants,
who were the largest group immigrating, started to have different origins from Europe. Now they were
coming from Southern and Eastern Europe. When they came to the cities, such as New York City,
which was their port of arrival, they formed ethnic communities because they did not share the same
values as the original, Protestant Americans or immigrants before them. Almost all immigrants located
themselves in cities, nevertheless, because they came to America to find the American Dream, which
was believed to be very true and plausible. The cities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poor and newly arrived immigrants faced many issues when in the cities that they called homes.
In the tenements, usually in the worst parts of cities such as New York and Chicago, the poor lived in
extremely cramped, unsanitary, and dangerous conditions. At work, the poor faced monotonous jobs,
maybe turning a bolt, over and over again all day long. And from this job their pay was no more than
around $1 $3 a day. Obviously, something had to be done to improve these conditions, as the
government was not regulating or supporting the poor, especially the immigrants who received little to
no help in the country after they paid their entry tax to the government. There were two groups
interested in this subject with almost opposing views: the social reformers and the business leaders.
The business leaders responded to the poverty in a manner inspire their personal beliefs. As seen by
Andrew Carnegie, in his article, The Gospel of Wealth, the business leaders believed themselves to be
superior humans with more able bodies and brains. They were Social Darwinists, who believed the
poor were poor because they were inferior. Some leaders did nothing and purely made choices that
benefitted the company over the employees. However, others, such as Andrew Carnegie and Andrew
Melon, poured their own money into projects that would help the mind and make the poor happier,
such as cultural or educational venues such as Carnegie Hall or Carnegie Mellon University. On the

Essay about Lonely Hearts Wendy Cope
Writing Assignment on Poetry (Lonely Hearts pg430) Classy Classifieds; Lonely Hearts Lonely
Hearts written by Wendy Cope is an enjoyable piece that draws readers in with its simplicity and
straightforwardness. The title of the piece, tells the reader exactly what the poem is about while the
writer s thoughts are followed throughout the length of the poem with the writer s unique style. Cope s
approach of classified advertisements captures the reader s imagination and understanding that one
may be so desperate to find love that he would go to many extremes to find someone special. Through
word choice, diction, imagery and irony, she keeps the reader s attention. Cope, starts her poem with a

person that may come their way. However, they seem as if they seek perfection, which we know
cannot be found in one person, therefore they may end up back to this classified ad in the near future.
Imagery along with a touch of irony is found within the poem to pull the reader into the poem. The
speakers describe exactly who they are, and what they are looking for in the person who they seek.
Executive in search of something new Perhaps bisexual woman, arty, young. Do you live in North
London? Is it you? (7) Within the captioned lines, we see exactly who the person is and what they
seek. The reader can envision who the person is almost to the point where we are able to see them
dressed in their character. It is very ironic the speakers choice of finding a match for themselves. You
would think persons this lonely would make time to try to go out to find a person. However, they write
an ad and hope that someone would read the ad and find them. This thought seems to be ironic for
persons who find themselves in a place of desperation like the captioned persons. They should ve been
looking at social spots or events to find that which they are seeking. Lonely Hearts conveys a deep
sense of desperation of those who seek alternative methods of finding love. This trend of

A physician will diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and other disorders. They also work to promote

The Root Cellar Poem Analysis
Deep into The Root Cellar
Numerous artists make exceptionally uncertain implications when composing poetry. To some the
understandings might be extremely energizing, while others consider them to be dull stories of a
creator s life. As uninteresting as it may be to a few, individuals can especially identify with specific
focuses being made in many types of poetry. In The Root Cellar , Roethke examines in distinctive
detail about the dim, moist, and rotten basement. The statements made are extremely discouraging and
the thought of needing to surrender appears to be real. He depicts how everything stinks of rotting
matter and how anything would not have the power to rest in such a place. Despite the fact that all
appears to be lost, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the duration of his life, the greater part of the mental breakdowns he endured were really helping
him. This misery, which he thought of as snapshots of mindfulness, was put towards his work. There
were gigantic measures of misery and sadness in his written work. It appears, as there is a dim tone to
The Root Cellar specifically with hidden implications to a few things.
Despite the fact that the poem is loaded with life sucking symbolism, there is life to be found inside it.
Roethke continued going in his life, despite the fact that he had some unpleasant and low focuses. In
the poem, two lines truly emerge: Nothing would give up life. Even the dirt kept breathing a small
breath. The enormous factor a person would get from looking at this is that nothing is sufficiently
horrible to stop all together. Battle until the very end, something that one should detract from this
piece. Things in that basement were kicking the bucket, rotting, however a few things strived ahead.
The poem figures the dirt can be taken as an allegory to our own lives as individuals. When somebody
achieves a state of outrageous misery, they feel lower than the soil. Since in the poem, the soil takes a
breath, it tries to remain alive. The lowest form of item in that cellar, has discovered a reason to go
onward.
Roethke is viewed as a very open artist; a phrase used to name writers that depict their

Assess Interpretations of Hatshepsut
Assess interpretations of Hatshepsut
The female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, is arguably one of the most influential people of ancient Egypt. For
thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations, from
both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from
the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary.
In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful reign
that was devoid of any real achievements. Historians writing in the 1970 s and 1980 s often made
sexist and unfounded assumptions about Hatshepsut s rule, including her apparent scheming to take
the throne from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ancient interpretations of Hatshepsut can also be perceived as negative, such as those of Seti I
and Ramses II who deliberately excluded her from the King list under the presumption that he rule
was a threat to order. Also, Thutmose III s defacement of her monuments is thought to have been done
in the act of re establishing ma at and order, as it was believed that a female ruler ultimately defied
this natural balance and therefore male dominance had to be restored.
Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly
contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Ineni, for example, was an official under
Hatshepsut who talked highly of her; she settled the affairs of the Two Lands...whose plans are
excellent, she who satisfies the two regions when she speaks . This quote demonstrates that officials
from her context believed that she was an effective and efficient ruler who had the support of the
official and peasant class. Modern day historians such as Callender, Tyldestry and Redford also
present a balanced, more positive view of Hatshepsut as a competent and effective pharaoh who
brought peace and prosperity to Egypt. J. Tyldesley, for example, names Hatshepsut as the woman
who led a stable government, had a successful trading mission, and maintained impressive
architectural advances in her building programs. She emphasises how rather than

Facts About The Vietnam War
The longest recorded and arguably one of the most controversial wars in American history is the

countries under a communist reign. The United States quickly became an ally with South Vietnam
because they feared the spread of communism. The aftermath of the war resulted in sixty thousand
American deaths and two million Vietnamese deaths. Today many people question the necessity and
rationality of the war. It is still debated today if the American force in Vietnam was a blunder or a

Air Pollution And Its Effects On The World
ABSTRACT
Present day scenario of Delhi in terms of air pollution is undermining and is predicted to continue
growing on that front. The air quality, in fact, is the worst of all the major cities in the world. One of
the reasons for the suffering air quality is Vehicular Pollution which is mainly due to the fuels. This
paper mainly intensifies on the use of CNG instead of Petroleum based fuels like petrol and diesel. It
compares all of the above with respect to pollution control as well as the expenses associated with
their use to suit the general public. This paper provides the current status of the use of these fuels and
their preferences.
INTRODUCTION
Normal human activity is more harmful for nature than the greatest wars or nuclear explosions in
history. For the last decade, pollution has been on a steep rise all across the world with air pollution
taking a lead. In India, particularly in Delhi, the level of pollution is scarily high making it the
eleventh most polluted metropolis in the world[1]. A considerable role in pollution is played by Air
pollution. Air pollution is caused by road dust, industrial gases, vehicular pollution, burning of solid
wastes and concrete batching[2].
Vehicular Pollution is due to emissions from vehicle including PM10 and PM2.5, Sulphur Oxides,
Nitrogen Oxides, Volatile organic compounds, CO, air pollutants including Benzene, Carbon di oxide
(owning to the greenhouse effect), partially burnt Hydro Carbons and certain amount of Lead.

DISCUSSION The state of North Carolina infringed upon Joe Smith s 14th Amendment rights. In
addition to this, the state disregarded their own statute recognized as The Equality for all Act. North
Carolina violated this statute by discriminating against Joe Smith based on his race, gender, national
origin, religion, and financial means. This will be substantiated by exercising three components, strict
scrutiny (race, national origin, and/or religion), intermediate scrutiny (age and/or gender), and rational
basis (everything else). # 1. Strict scrutiny: A socially non discriminating law that is implemented in a

Washington Superior Court sided with DeFunis and instructed the University of Washington Law

Similarities Between Romanticism And Yeats
By the 1780s, the British Industrial Revolution, which had been developing for several decades, began
to accelerate further; technology changed. The economic transformation brought about the British
industrial revolution along with social reformation (Sparknotes.com, n.d.)
But not everyone was thrilled by this brave new world. The poets of the Romantic Movement also
found a great deal to criticize about the Industrial Revolution. The new technologies and their use
grew out of eighteenth century rationalism, which held that man could employ science to control the
earth the way he pleased. The Romantic Movement was a reaction to this philosophy, and held that
man was a part of nature and needed to respect and care for the earth. This view extended to humanity

His later works, though, focused mostly on politics (due to his love with Maud Gonne) and ultimately
grew to darker poetry due to the continuous rejection by Isabelle Maud Gonne s daughter. This is
evident in the poems; Adam s Curse, September 1913, To a Young Girl, Politics and Death.
The only similarity between these two poets is the romanticism in Wordsworth s poems and Yeats
early work. Wordsworth was in love with nature and his environment. He admired simplicity and
believed, throughout his poems that nature gave out major messages when looked at closely. Yeats
early work was based on his love for Ireland and its countryside. Yeats always tried to revive the lost
importance of Ireland in its people. This can mainly be seen in the poem September 1913.
Wordsworth quite intentionally turned his back on the Enlightenment traditions of poetry. He instead
looked more to the Renaissance and the Classics of Greek and Latin epic poetry for motivation. His
work was noted for its

Central Idea Driving a manual transmission car is very different from driving an automatic

Today about 6 million people drive a car in the United States, but the percentage of those people that
drive a manual transmission is significantly less than those who drive automatic. In every country in
Europe, and perhaps in the world, manual cars are a common sight. However, here in the U.S.A.

i. Failure to do so might result in damage to the transmission and engine.
b. Next we have to step on the clutch pedal and shift the car to first gear.
c. Then we have to slowly release the clutch and start pressing on the gas pedal.
Transition: Next thing you know you re moving, but your car is starting to roar, time to change gear.
D. Changing gear from 1st to 2nd is much easier than the initial start. a. First, you step on the clutch

Dangers Of Junk Food Essay
The Dangers in the Food We Love The junk food we love can be so harmful to our beautiful bodies.
Do you really think people make good decisions in choosing what they want to eat? Men, women and
even children know the difference in foods which can affect one s health. With no hesitation an
individual will daringly eat a food without knowing the calories taken within that one burger. Within
the 70 s till our generation now a person will see an image or hear someone say you will win an award
for eating a 19,900 calorie burger, way more calories consumed than is supposed to. As years go by
the portions of the food goes up such as the prices. Our generation needs to take consideration in our
health because what we consume now, can affect us majorly in the future. 18 26 year olds have to be
the ones to change what is consumed in their daily lifestyles. The average lifespan for our generation
will be approximately 70 years old, shorter than the span of our parents which live up to there 100 s
just because of the way us individuals eat. In The New War Of Obesity, Barry Popkin, Ph.D., notes
that taxation of sugary beverages and junk food is where we have the most solid evidence of an effect

Advantages And Disadvantages Of System Development
WATERFALL vs. AGILE METHODOLOGY
When it comes to systems development today, the most important decision every development team
faces is which approach to use. Given the fact that information technology is continually growing, it is
extremely important to shorten the time spent on the development as much as possible. This, however,
is sometimes easier said than done. Because there are situations where the complexity of the system
requires a huge amount of time to develop, it is much wiser to slow down and do things the right way
rather than hurry and be forced to repeat the process again. Therefore, it is vital to choose the best
approach. Although there are several different methodologies that can be used when it comes to
systems development, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The important thing here to mention is that each method consists of activities specific only to them.
These activities are yet another difference between the waterfall and agile method. The waterfall
model emphasizes planning while the agile method stresses flexibility more. Waterfall model groups
its activities in phases, where each phase is different and has its purpose. These phases include
planning phase, analysis phase, design phase, implementation phase, and support phase. [1] Because
the development process goes from phase to phase, it is crucial to carefully plan each one out. Once
you move to the next phase, there is no going back. This model is very simple and easy to understand
and use. However, when the system is put to a test, if it does not satisfy all the requirements, then the
entire system must be redesigned, which is a very inefficient and costly job to do. This is the biggest
weakness of the waterfall approach and that is why this model is best suited for systems with well
defined requirements as well as those with a lower chance to change in the near future. In contrast to
the waterfall method, the agile method uses the iterative approach to systems development. This way,
all the phases that are previously mentioned in the waterfall model are also present, but they are
repeated in each iteration. For this reason, detailed planning is unnecessary because, at the end of each
iteration, the prototype is tested and improvements are made. Also, it is much easier for clients to be
closely involved with the whole process of development. Being able to actually see the system s
prototype not only helps clients in forming their image of what they can expect in the end, but also
helps developers understand the clients vision of the system. Although the collaboration between
developers and clients is positive and most certainly welcome, implementing all ideas that are

Merlin s Character In The Legend Of Geoffrey Merlin And...
Merlin is considered one of the most strongest sorcerer that lives Camelot. He is Arthur s adviser, as
well as a prophet and sorcerer. Merlin s powers were so powerful that other wizards and sorcerers
looked up to him as a leader. His role in the Arthurian legend is to protect and serve the lands of
Camelot. The Life of Merlin gave him the qualities of an humble man, who took pleasure in
loneliness. The source provided descriptive details of Merlin s actions and how they affected others in
relations to his selfishness. In the narrative, Monmouth wrote Merlin to be a man who wanted nothing
to do with anyone, except for himself. After the 1900 s, author of The Daughter of Merlin took a
different perspective and gave the character a child that shared the same qualities. Gaster gave new
meaning to Merlin s character that will be put in texts of the Arthurian Legend. In the narratives, The
Life of Merlin by Geoffrey Monmouth and The Daughter of Merlin by Madison J Cawein, Merlin s
character changes as different authors rewrite his character. He changes from a sorcerer living on his
own to a sorcerer who has a daughter with his same abilities, because over a certain time period the
authors wanted to evolve Merlin into more caring, passionate character. For example, Monmouth
provides Merlin s character with the sense of self serving attitude. The author incorporates a battle,
which Merlin s leads and succeeds with the victory of the battle. In return of the victorious battle, the

Plessy V. Ferguson Case Analysis
Before the Union victory in 1865, Congress assembled for the challenges the United States would face
at the war s end, particularly the integration of four million emancipated African Americans into the
country. The Congressional Reconstruction period generated the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth
amendments into the United States Constitution. These amendments extended legal and civil
protections to former slaves. These three amendments were foundation of the civil rights movement;
because it gave new constitutional protections to African Americans, though the struggle to fully
achieve equality would continue into the future, it led the civil rights movement on to the right path.
The Thirteenth amendment¹ was formed in 1865, it stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary goals of the movement were to end segregation across America, desegregate schools and
other public facilities, reverse to notion separate but equal , and achieve overall equality. Shortly after
the Fourteenth amendment was passed, America erupted with opinions due to the Plessy v. Ferguson
decision. Plessy v. Ferguson was a U.S. Supreme Court case that supported the right for states to pass
laws allowing racial segregation in public and private institutions such as schools, public
transportation, restrooms, etc. The Plessy v. Ferguson case was important in the course of United
States history, because its outcome upheld the belief that racial segregation was legal under the
separate but equal doctrine. The Court held segregation as legal under the Fourteenth Amendment,
Equal Protection Clause. The clause explained that no state shall... deny to any person within its
jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. (Equal Protection Clause 1868) The decision validated
the action of segregation and the proliferation of the Jim Crow laws. This was a major part of what the
Civil Rights movement of the 1950 s 60 s hoped to terminate. Ultimately, Plessy v. Ferguson, (1896)
was rescinded by Brown v. Board of Education, 347 US 483

Analysis Of `` Killing Us Softly 4 `` By Jean Kilbourne
Whether we realize it or not, we are constantly surrounded by advertisements. On average, we are
exposed to approximately 3,000 ads per day, through logos, billboards, and television commercials,
even our choices of brands. But in today s society, one of the most used and influential tools of
advertising are women. But the unfortunate thing is that women are not just viewed as actresses in
these ads but as objects for people to look at, use, abuse, and more. In her fourth installment in a line
of documentaries, Killing Us Softly 4, Jean Kilbourne explains the influence of advertising women
and popular culture, and its relationship to gender violence, sexism and racism, and eating disorders.
For women, advertising exemplifies the ideal female body. According to Kilbourne, young girls are
taught from a very early age that they need to spend lots of time and money to achieve this physical
perfection. But realistically this cannot be achieved. The ideal woman s body is Caucasian, very
skinny, big breasts, no flaws, and pretty much no pores. This cannot be achieved because it is
physically impossible to look like this; the illusion comes from the secret world of Photoshop. No
woman is beautiful enough so they leave it to technology to create perfection. The supermodel Cindy
Crawford said, I wish I looked like Cindy Crawford! She knew the realities of Photoshop and body
image, and more women and girls need to become aware of this as well. Kilbourne uses the example

Marginalism Of John Bates Clark
Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state
the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was
denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the
Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot
calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of
everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely

Clarke argue that this assumption of Marginalist is wrong, because human is social animal, when
people are placed in the society we tend to have difference decisions from living alone we are
influenced by others. So Clarke stated that people must take society into account, we need to care
about the society. My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only
looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory
and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of
people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that
whatever a person value as his own happiness, he has already taken into his account his value may not

These results were not very significant as the number of indices recorded was 3 and 3 for group 2012
and 2015 respectively. Consequently, the graph ended up having enormous error bars, which only
further indicated that we cannot conclude much from this graph even though the treatment group
seemed to have a higher diversity index. In real ecosystems the Shannon s diversity index often

Analysis Of Tupac Shakur s Song, Dear Mama
The struggles of a single mother is not something everyone will fully understand. In the late 90 s there
was huge poverty and gang violence in Los Angeles, California where Tupac grew up. Many of his
songs reflect on how his experience was in this environment. In Tupac Shakur s song, Dear Mama
found in album, Me Against the World, for a single mother to show love for her child takes a huge
struggle, especially when it was a time where gang violence was really high and fathers would leave
their children. Throughout the song Tupac uses imagery to capture the feeling of pain and struggle and

what keeps them going. The love a mother will have for her son means that even though they don t
have a father figure around to show them how to grow up, they will always have their mothers to
teach them the way of life through a woman s perspective. In the song, Dear Mama , Tupac mentions,
For a woman it ain t easy trying to raise a man, you always was committed and he is able to
foreshadow the hardships his mother had to face while Tupac was growing up without a father. At the
age of seventeen Tupac, was always caught up in drama with his mom. Since Tupac was young he got
involved into the hustle and was left in the streets where he basically had to risk he life every day. He
never realized that being pushed into the streets would make him think about his mother or even worry
about her. Tupac reflects upon the behavior he had during the time and how much stress he would add
on his mother s shoulders, but little did he know that his mother would be there for him regardless.

The Red Tent Gender Roles
The role and strength of women in a male dominated society in biblical times is the fundamental
theme of The Red Tent. The red tent is a physical and spiritual place, where the women of Jacob s
tribe his wives, servants and daughters, could rest while menstruating and childbearing, but more
importantly, it became a safe shelter for feminist unity and companionship. The red tent provides all
the women a haven to be in their power together, to learn from one another, to be part of a community,
and to celebrate their lives without any disturbance from the male chauvinism. In the red tent , women

Rachel teaches Dinah not only knowledge and technique about delivering babies but also female

Cheap Labor Essay
In the twenty first century, it is not a secret that many American companies are actually setting up
factories in foreign countries, with the majority located in Asia. Notable examples of this include
athletic shoe companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok Additionally, most people know the reason
these companies make their products overseas: cheap labor. However, what exactly does the term
cheap labor entail? Moreover, how are international politics and the global economy affected by this
outsourcing? While it may seem like a simple question with a simple answer, the cause of such a
relationship and its effects on international commerce are deeply complex and morally questionable.
The relationship between international politics and offshore athletic shoe production is a surprisingly
complex one. Its origins are in the era of the Cold War, when American shoe companies began moving
their production offshore. Nike closed the last of their factories based in the United States in 1975,
choosing instead to put their factories in the countries that were close allies. While China now
produces one third of all athletic shoes, most athletic shoe factories were located in South Korea from
the seventies through the nineties (Enloe, 272).
Because South Korea and the United States were strong allies during the Cold War, the American
shoes being produced were, in a sense, militarized. The militarization of athletic shoes occured due to
the agreements between the major American shoe

The Baseball Game In Baseball
Baseball was originated in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1846 and in those days, the game was played

Incivilities In Neighborhood
Neighborhood disorder, broadly defined as the social and physical incivilities within a neighborhood
(Sampson Raudenbush, 1999), affects residents perceptions of fear and safety (Austin, Furr Spine,
2002; Yavuz Welch, 2010). Social incivilities could include drunk people in public space or
panhandlers while physical incivilities include litter or deliberate property damage. Wilson s and
Kelling s broken windows theory (1982) provides social sciences with the most well known model of
neighborhood disorder, which posits that the presence of physical and social incivilities lead to greater
fear among neighborhood residents. Consequently, a cycle of perpetual social breakdown within the
neighborhood occurs.

life changing as it irrefutably reflects the perpetual axiom that you don t have to be someone great in

Introduction to computer forensics
Computer forensics defined In today s world it is an indisputable fact that computers and digital
devices are a part of our everyday lives. As such they are a part of our society whether they are used
for business or for personal reasons. There are many uses for computers. We can ... Show more

The employee s computer may also contain valuable information that can be extracted about the
downloading of the information. All of these avenues will provide a chain of auditable evidence
against the employee in question and could result in his dismissal as well as other civil legal action.
The third scenario involves the theft of a laptop computer. On October 31, 2012 there was a security
breach reported by NASA that a laptop computer was stolen from an employee s vehicle that
contained personal data on ten thousand users and was unencrypted. NASA immediately began
working with local law enforcement after the laptop was stolen, with the goal of recovering the
computer and protecting the sensitive data (Vijayan, 2012).
Information provided by IT Security about the serial number of the laptop and other identifying
features should have been well documented before the laptop ever left the NASA facility. Computer
forensics personal also would have had to investigate the people who will be affected by the
information on the stolen laptop so they can be informed and take appropriate action to protect their
identities. If the laptop is ever retrieved, computer forensics personal will need to investigate to see if
any sensitive information was accessed while the computer was missing and what information was
copied or changed.

Naturalism In Jack London s To Build A Fire
In To Build a Fire by Jack London, an unnamed man and his dog attempts to trek across the freezing
Yukon terrain to meet some people in a town. Before the journey, an old timer from Sulpher Creek
supposedly warned him of the freezing weather. The man still goes out, not being aware that the cold
can possibly kill him. He faces many obstacles, including being covered in snow after building a fire.
Eventually, he becomes less aware of his surroundings and walks into a frigid spring. Most of his body
is cold and numb. Near the end of the story, he accepts death and admits to himself that the old timer
from Sulpher Creek was right. His dog stays until it smells the scent of death, and goes towards the
camp. Naturalism is an idea that nature

Benefits Of A Healthy Active Living Policy For Canadian...
There are many aspects of life that are not being addressed when it comes to seniors living in Canada.
Although there are policies that are in place, some of the necessary policies are lacking in quality or
are completely non existent. An example of this would be a policy that promotes healthy, active living
to seniors who live in Canada. This would be a vitally important policy that really effects and
contributes to an overall better quality of life for older adults. A better quality of life would mean a
longer, more independent life for them. By introducing a healthy, active living policy for Canadian
seniors, they would be able to participate in a variety of activities that keep them on their feet and
moving to the best of their abilities. An examination of the importance of exercise, both in general and
specifically towards seniors will prove the need for a policy such as this to exist and be in place in
Canada.
A policy that is needed in Canada is a healthy, active living policy. This policy would be called Aging
Healthy, Aging Happy . The overall goal of the policy would be to encourage seniors to continue to be
healthy and active in their everyday life. This means not only physical exercise, but also mental and
emotional exercises too. By making these exercise classes and other healthy, active alternatives readily
available for little to no cost for seniors, they will be able to participate in things that this policy
promotes, and therefore age healthy and

Since the government pays for these stadiums, it s our tax dollars that are used. Building a stadium has more disadvantages than advantages. The government doesn t make a lot of money from the stadiums compared to how much money the government spent on building the stadium. When a team owner wants to build a new stadium, the team owner asks the government for the money, so the team owner doesn t have to pay for to stadium. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article Point: Local Government Should not be Involved in Financing Stadiums stated, Eli Jacobs bought the Baltimore Orioles for $70 million and sold it for $173 million (Pearson Konczal, 2016). The team owner got an extra profit of $100 million just because a new stadium was built from the tax payers money. Team owners can make easy money, by having the state build a new stadium for that team. The team owner gets hundreds of millions of dollars because of this. The team owner makes money from parking fees, snacks sold, tickets sold, and food trucks outside. After the team owner has paid their bill the rest of the money is the team owners. When a state, or a city funds a stadium to be built the funder gets little to no money in return. Stadiums on average cost about $1 billion annually. We are paying to fund these stadiums instead of doing something that would benefit us. Stadiums bring no revenue to local businesses and hurt the community. Stadium only benefit the team and the team owners by giving them more money. Everyone is at a loss when a stadium is built, except the team owner. Works Cited Bouchard, E., English, M. (2016). • 3. Essay on Durkheim and Marx Theories Applied to Drug Laws All societies have rules and regulations as well as penalties for those who violate them. There are numerous theories about the philosophy behind these laws and punishments, and the reasons we implement them. A short analysis of two of these perspectives can shed light on the differences between the various ideas while illustrating that, in reality, each theory carries some validity. Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx s perspectives on the law are significantly different. Durkheim s view is based upon the belief that a society s legal system reflects the values of society as a whole, while Marx s view is based upon the belief that laws reflect a continuing conflict between the classes. An examanation of how these two perspectives perceive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David Garland agrees with this and writes, penal measures are shaped not just by patterns of criminality themselves linked to the conditions of life of marginal groups and their relation to other classes but primarily by governmental perceptions of the poor as a social problem and the preferred strategies for their treatment (page 134). In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s, drug use became a major concern for most Americans. As the War on Drugs and Just Say No campaign were being thrust into the spotlight by the government and media, the public became more aware of the scope of drug use and abuse in this country. The federal and states governments quickly responded by creating and implementing more harsh and punitive punishments for drug offenses. Most of these laws have either remained unchanged or become stricter in the years since then. According to the Durkheimian perspective, the public sees drug use as an unacceptable behavior and recognizes it as a threat to morality and values. As such, drug users must be punished in order to restore societal harmony and deter future offenses. The increasingly punitive reaction to drug use in the 1980 s can be seen as a reaction to the public s increasing perception that drugs are a threat to the moral fabric of society. By inflicting severe punishment on drug offenders, the community is satisfied with the knowledge that drug addicts are paying for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cannibalism In The Cars Essay Cannibalism in the Cars is a short story written by American writer Mark Twain in 1868. The reason I chose to appreciate and write about this literary work is Mark Twain s supreme use of cunning and witty language portrayed on a contrasting canvas, that will survive, I believe, the test of time. This essay will primarily focus on two recurring motifs that, I assume, were the basic building blocks on which this humorous short story was built. The first recurring motif in the first half of the story is the aforementioned utilization of contrast. While Mark Twain is widely considered a realist author, the use of this motif further suggests that Mark Twain was inspired by elements of romantic literary movement. Contrast in the story is used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the passengers begin feasting on their fellow companions due to lack of available food, the narrator is so delighted and satisfied that he could not resist saying a few funny and at the same time disturbing remarks. This prompts the question as to how our preferences change depending on the situation. I liked Harris. This is perhaps a better example of ambiguity depending on the context rather than lexical or structural ambiguity. One of the next victims elected to be devoured was mister Morgan. The narrator comments on his redeeming qualities, that have little to do with how the gentleman tasted. There is no correlation between these two qualities and lack of empathy or regret from side of the narrator displays how cruel the writing is. Cannibalism in the Cars in many aspects depicts a social eco system of the real world. Built on political affairs of voting and climbing through ranks of surviving suggests a parallel to the real political processes where eating a certain man represents climbing the political ladder. The short story contains a lot of symbols, that may be interpreted in various ways depending on a reader but it as well emphasizes the merit this literary work brings to the ... But somehow Gandhi convinced and got the permission to leave. On 10 August 1888, Gandhi left Porbandar for Bombay (Mumbai). Upon arrival in the port, he was met by the head of the Modh Bania community, who had known Gandhi s family for a while. Social Policy Within The Global Economy When discussing social policy within the current global economy, it s quite impossible to ignore the effects of globalisation on nation states but also in the overall global economy in relation to poverty, environmental changes, trade, culture etc. Globalisation is a highly contested term due to its broad definition which causes confusion as to what it actually means (Gills, 2002; Higgot, 1999). Yeates (2002) refers to globalisation as the loosening of boundaries of things such as trade, labour and migration and further goes on to speak of strong globalisation to indicate the intensity and inevitable nature especially in relation to the constraints globalisation poses on national governments and the policy making process. Ginsburg (2001) looked as social policy within Ireland and the UK and argues that changes that have occurred within the nation state have been due to neo liberal hegemony. During the 1980 s under the Margaret Thatcher administration there was an adaptation of neo liberalism as restraints were put on social expenditure, taxation of individuals and corporations and there was an increase in the flexibility of labour markets as the markets are seen as wealth creating mechanisms (Ginsburg, 2001; Cerny and Evans, 2004). However, beginning in the 1890s, most European immigrants, who were the largest group immigrating, started to have different origins from Europe. Now they were coming from Southern and Eastern Europe. When they came to the cities, such as New York City, which was their port of arrival, they formed ethnic communities because they did not share the same values as the original, Protestant Americans or immigrants before them. Almost all immigrants located themselves in cities, nevertheless, because they came to America to find the American Dream, which was believed to be very true and plausible. The cities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poor and newly arrived immigrants faced many issues when in the cities that they called homes. In the tenements, usually in the worst parts of cities such as New York and Chicago, the poor lived in extremely cramped, unsanitary, and dangerous conditions. At work, the poor faced monotonous jobs, maybe turning a bolt, over and over again all day long. And from this job their pay was no more than around $1 $3 a day. Obviously, something had to be done to improve these conditions, as the government was not regulating or supporting the poor, especially the immigrants who received little to no help in the country after they paid their entry tax to the government. There were two groups interested in this subject with almost opposing views: the social reformers and the business leaders. The business leaders responded to the poverty in a manner inspire their personal beliefs. As seen by Andrew Carnegie, in his article, The Gospel of Wealth, the business leaders believed themselves to be superior humans with more able bodies and brains. They were Social Darwinists, who believed the poor were poor because they were inferior. Some leaders did nothing and purely made choices that benefitted the company over the employees. • 10. The Root Cellar Poem Analysis Deep into The Root Cellar Numerous artists make exceptionally uncertain implications when composing poetry. To some the understandings might be extremely energizing, while others consider them to be dull stories of a creator s life. As uninteresting as it may be to a few, individuals can especially identify with specific focuses being made in many types of poetry. In The Root Cellar , Roethke examines in distinctive detail about the dim, moist, and rotten basement. The statements made are extremely discouraging and the thought of needing to surrender appears to be real. He depicts how everything stinks of rotting matter and how anything would not have the power to rest in such a place. Despite the fact that all appears to be lost, there ... It appears, as there is a dim tone to The Root Cellar specifically with hidden implications to a few things. Despite the fact that the poem is loaded with life sucking symbolism, there is life to be found inside it. Roethke continued going in his life, despite the fact that he had some unpleasant and low focuses. In the poem, two lines truly emerge: Nothing would give up life. Even the dirt kept breathing a small breath. The enormous factor a person would get from looking at this is that nothing is sufficiently horrible to stop all together. Battle until the very end, something that one should detract from this piece. Things in that basement were kicking the bucket, rotting, however a few things strived ahead. The poem figures the dirt can be taken as an allegory to our own lives as individuals. When somebody achieves a state of outrageous misery, they feel lower than the soil. For thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations, from both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary. In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful reign that was devoid of any real achievements. Historians writing in the 1970 s and 1980 s often made sexist and unfounded assumptions about Hatshepsut s rule, including her apparent scheming to take the throne from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some ancient interpretations of Hatshepsut can also be perceived as negative, such as those of Seti I and Ramses II who deliberately excluded her from the King list under the presumption that he rule was a threat to order. Also, Thutmose III s defacement of her monuments is thought to have been done in the act of re establishing ma at and order, as it was believed that a female ruler ultimately defied this natural balance and therefore male dominance had to be restored. Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Ineni, for example, was an official under Hatshepsut who talked highly of her; she settled the affairs of the Two Lands...whose plans are excellent, she who satisfies the two regions when she speaks . This quote demonstrates that officials from her context believed that she was an effective and efficient ruler who had the support of the official and peasant class. Modern day historians such as Callender, Tyldestry and Redford also present a balanced, more positive view of Hatshepsut as a competent and effective pharaoh who brought peace and prosperity to Egypt. J. Tyldesley, for example, names Hatshepsut as the woman who led a stable government, had a successful trading mission, and maintained impressive architectural advances in her building programs. The poets of the Romantic Movement also found a great deal to criticize about the Industrial Revolution. The new technologies and their use grew out of eighteenth century rationalism, which held that man could employ science to control the earth the way he pleased. The only similarity between these two poets is the romanticism in Wordsworth s poems and Yeats early work. Wordsworth was in love with nature and his environment. He admired simplicity and believed, throughout his poems that nature gave out major messages when looked at closely. Yeats early work was based on his love for Ireland and its countryside. Yeats always tried to revive the lost importance of Ireland in its people. This can mainly be seen in the poem September 1913. • 22. Advantages And Disadvantages Of System Development WATERFALL vs. AGILE METHODOLOGY When it comes to systems development today, the most important decision every development team faces is which approach to use. Given the fact that information technology is continually growing, it is extremely important to shorten the time spent on the development as much as possible. This, however, is sometimes easier said than done. Because there are situations where the complexity of the system requires a huge amount of time to develop, it is much wiser to slow down and do things the right way rather than hurry and be forced to repeat the process again. Therefore, it is vital to choose the best approach. Although there are several different methodologies that can be used when it comes to systems development, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The important thing here to mention is that each method consists of activities specific only to them. These activities are yet another difference between the waterfall and agile method. The waterfall model emphasizes planning while the agile method stresses flexibility more. Waterfall model groups its activities in phases, where each phase is different and has its purpose. These phases include planning phase, analysis phase, design phase, implementation phase, and support phase. [1] Because the development process goes from phase to phase, it is crucial to carefully plan each one out. Once you move to the next phase, there is no going back. This model is very simple and easy to understand and use. However, when the system is put to a test, if it does not satisfy all the requirements, then the entire system must be redesigned, which is a very inefficient and costly job to do. This is the biggest weakness of the waterfall approach and that is why this model is best suited for systems with well defined requirements as well as those with a lower chance to change in the near future. In contrast to the waterfall method, the agile method uses the iterative approach to systems development. This way, all the phases that are previously mentioned in the waterfall model are also present, but they are repeated in each iteration. For this reason, detailed planning is unnecessary because, at the end of each iteration, the prototype is tested and improvements are made. Also, it is much easier for clients to be closely involved with the whole process of development. Being able to actually see the system s prototype not only helps clients in forming their image of what they can expect in the end, but also helps developers understand the clients vision of the system. • 29. Analysis Of `` Killing Us Softly 4 `` By Jean Kilbourne Whether we realize it or not, we are constantly surrounded by advertisements. On average, we are exposed to approximately 3,000 ads per day, through logos, billboards, and television commercials, even our choices of brands. But in today s society, one of the most used and influential tools of advertising are women. But the unfortunate thing is that women are not just viewed as actresses in these ads but as objects for people to look at, use, abuse, and more. In her fourth installment in a line of documentaries, Killing Us Softly 4, Jean Kilbourne explains the influence of advertising women and popular culture, and its relationship to gender violence, sexism and racism, and eating disorders. For women, advertising exemplifies the ideal female body. According to Kilbourne, young girls are taught from a very early age that they need to spend lots of time and money to achieve this physical perfection. But realistically this cannot be achieved. The ideal woman s body is Caucasian, very skinny, big breasts, no flaws, and pretty much no pores. This cannot be achieved because it is physically impossible to look like this; the illusion comes from the secret world of Photoshop. No woman is beautiful enough so they leave it to technology to create perfection. The supermodel Cindy Crawford said, I wish I looked like Cindy Crawford! She knew the realities of Photoshop and body image, and more women and girls need to become aware of this as well. Kilbourne uses the example of Ana ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Marginalism Of John Bates Clark Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely technical meaning that Marginalist presumably that people are rational and self interest and will maximized owns benefits, Marginalist also assume that people are mathematics and calculate ... Clarke argue that this assumption of Marginalist is wrong, because human is social animal, when people are placed in the society we tend to have difference decisions from living alone we are influenced by others. So Clarke stated that people must take society into account, we need to care about the society. My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that whatever a person value as his own happiness, he has already taken into his account his value may not be due to the society, what s matter is that a person does calculate his own ... Results: The variables that we examined were the mean proportion of the qualitative categories in 2012 vs. 2015, the Shannon s diversity index for 2012 vs. 2015 for south plots and that of Aspen plots control vs. treatment. These variables were each represented in one of my graphs. The graph in Figure 1 was a histogram which depicted the mean proportion among all 2015 plots for each designated category. The graph compared the qualitative category of ground cover type with the quantitative discrete variable calculated by averaging the proportional frequency of each category among all the south plots. The graph in Figure 3 was a bar graph which depicted the mean diversity index for 2012 and 2015 south treatment plots. The graph compared the qualitative variable of year with the quantitative continuous variable calculated by the Shannon s Diversity index. Figure 3 These results were not very significant as the number of indices recorded was 3 and 3 for group 2012 and 2015 respectively. Consequently, the graph ended up having enormous error bars, which only further indicated that we cannot conclude much from this graph even though the treatment group seemed to have a higher diversity index. In real ecosystems the Shannon s diversity index often averages between 1.5 and 3.5. Our index was lower even though the ground cover seems fairly diverse as it is not uniformly diverse. This decrease the diversity index as the index fluctuated based diversity and the uniformness of the diversity. Figure 3 Figure 4 Figure 4 showed a histogram of the Shannon s Diversity Indies of the south treatments in both years. The distribution was almost uniform, other than a mode of 2 between .60 and .8. The distribution of the histogram highlighted the lack of data as all, but one of the frequencies was 1. This was also exemplified in Figure 3 by large error bars. • 32. Analysis Of Tupac Shakur s Song, Dear Mama The struggles of a single mother is not something everyone will fully understand. In the late 90 s there was huge poverty and gang violence in Los Angeles, California where Tupac grew up. Many of his songs reflect on how his experience was in this environment. In Tupac Shakur s song, Dear Mama found in album, Me Against the World, for a single mother to show love for her child takes a huge struggle, especially when it was a time where gang violence was really high and fathers would leave their children. Throughout the song Tupac uses imagery to capture the feeling of pain and struggle and fluently illustrate the moments where he was young, until he grew up and realized the love his mother gave him. The love a mother will have for her son means that even though they don t have a father figure around to show them how to grow up, they will always have their mothers to teach them the way of life through a woman s perspective. In the song, Dear Mama , Tupac mentions, For a woman it ain t easy trying to raise a man, you always was committed and he is able to foreshadow the hardships his mother had to face while Tupac was growing up without a father. At the age of seventeen Tupac, was always caught up in drama with his mom. Since Tupac was young he got involved into the hustle and was left in the streets where he basically had to risk he life every day. He never realized that being pushed into the streets would make him think about his mother or even worry about her. Tupac reflects upon the behavior he had during the time and how much stress he would add on his mother s shoulders, but little did he know that his mother would be there for him regardless. • 33. The Red Tent Gender Roles The role and strength of women in a male dominated society in biblical times is the fundamental theme of The Red Tent. The red tent is a physical and spiritual place, where the women of Jacob s tribe his wives, servants and daughters, could rest while menstruating and childbearing, but more importantly, it became a safe shelter for feminist unity and companionship. The red tent provides all the women a haven to be in their power together, to learn from one another, to be part of a community, and to celebrate their lives without any disturbance from the male chauvinism. • 34. Cheap Labor Essay In the twenty first century, it is not a secret that many American companies are actually setting up factories in foreign countries, with the majority located in Asia. Notable examples of this include athletic shoe companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok Additionally, most people know the reason these companies make their products overseas: cheap labor. However, what exactly does the term cheap labor entail? Moreover, how are international politics and the global economy affected by this outsourcing? While it may seem like a simple question with a simple answer, the cause of such a relationship and its effects on international commerce are deeply complex and morally questionable. The relationship between international politics and offshore athletic shoe production is a surprisingly complex one. Its origins are in the era of the Cold War, when American shoe companies began moving their production offshore. Nike closed the last of their factories based in the United States in 1975, choosing instead to put their factories in the countries that were close allies. While China now produces one third of all athletic shoes, most athletic shoe factories were located in South Korea from the seventies through the nineties (Enloe, 272). Because South Korea and the United States were strong allies during the Cold War, the American shoes being produced were, in a sense, militarized. The militarization of athletic shoes occured due to the agreements between the major American shoe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social incivilities could include drunk people in public space or panhandlers while physical incivilities include litter or deliberate property damage. Wilson s and Kelling s broken windows theory (1982) provides social sciences with the most well known model of neighborhood disorder, which posits that the presence of physical and social incivilities lead to greater fear among neighborhood residents. • 43. Benefits Of A Healthy Active Living Policy For Canadian... There are many aspects of life that are not being addressed when it comes to seniors living in Canada. Although there are policies that are in place, some of the necessary policies are lacking in quality or are completely non existent. An example of this would be a policy that promotes healthy, active living to seniors who live in Canada. This would be a vitally important policy that really effects and contributes to an overall better quality of life for older adults. A better quality of life would mean a longer, more independent life for them. By introducing a healthy, active living policy for Canadian seniors, they would be able to participate in a variety of activities that keep them on their feet and moving to the best of their abilities. An examination of the importance of exercise, both in general and specifically towards seniors will prove the need for a policy such as this to exist and be in place in Canada. A policy that is needed in Canada is a healthy, active living policy. This policy would be called Aging Healthy, Aging Happy . The overall goal of the policy would be to encourage seniors to continue to be healthy and active in their everyday life. This means not only physical exercise, but also mental and emotional exercises too. By making these exercise classes and other healthy, active alternatives readily available for little to no cost for seniors, they will be able to participate in things that this policy promotes, and therefore age healthy and ...
