Narrative Essay About Moving To Canada
As I walked to the parking lot where my mom had arrived to pick me up from school, my sister
ran out of the car, ran towards me and yelled excitedly, We re going to Canada! Having grown up
in Kuwait for my whole life of 15 years, I could hardly believe my sister s words. Going to
Canada! I had only been out of the country twice, each time just to vacation and visit family in
the Philippines where both my parents are from. I had always imagined what life would be like
outside of Kuwait, and now it was finally going to be real. My 15 year old self was devastated
We were leaving the only home I had known for 15 years. It did not take long for my sisters
excitement to die when we realized that we would be leaving our friends and everything we ve
ever known and not returning for a long time. Life in Kuwait for 15 years was comfortable and
we were more than financially stable. Moving to Canada without a job offer in place meant that
we would have to start from the beginning all over again. Goodbyes were hard but my parents
encouraged us to see the joys of moving to a place where we could start over and become
accepted citizens of a country. Arriving in Canada, I experienced the biggest culture shock of my
life. Vancouver, BC was cold, wet, and loud. I had thought adjusting would be relatively easy; I
spoke English with a slight accent but I was very shy that it confused some of the other kids to
think I couldn t speak English. I did not understand the culture, which took a

The Importance of a Kindergarten Teacher
Kindergarten children thrive when they can work independently and cooperatively with a small
group of peers (Gullo, D. F., 2006). A kindergarten teacher who is teaching students to work
independently and in small groups while learning about numbers must understand that the students
are very diverse and have been taught in many different ways. A kindergarten teacher is a very
important person in the life of the children entering elementary school. Teachers at the kindergarten
level must keep in mind that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

using songs, chants, and stories that emphasize the counting sequence, both forward and backwards
and from different points within the sequence, and that focus on the tricky teens when the students
are ready;
providing opportunities to participate in games that emphasize strategies such as one to one
correspondence;
providing support to help them recognize the various counting strategies (e.g., tagging each object
as it is counted); providing opportunities to develop facility with finger pattern counting, so that 5
fingers and 10 fingers become anchors for the other numbers. Thus, students will recognize that
they do not have to recount the 5 fingers on one hand in order to show 6 fingers; instead, they can
automatically show the 5 fingers, say five , and then count on an additional finger from the other
hand to make 6 (A Guide to effective instruction in mathematics, kindergarten to grade 3 : number
sense and numeration, 2003).

Opportunities For Sustainable Building Practices...
Opportunities in renewable energy in tourism Our initial assessment for The Birchwood Hotel
down town St. Petersburg focused on examining key areas for sustainable building practices
consistent with Green Key guidelines. The areas assessed were corporate environmental
management, housekeeping, conference and meeting spaces, food and beverage, engineering and
maintenance. Summing up the condition of each system served as a target for the property owners
to make improvements for their short and long term needs that will align the property s mission
and goals to be more in line with Energy Conservationand Sustainable Business practices. The
refurbished property has been able to achieve its own dГ©cor and exclusive identity, but after the
assessment was graded, it was only able to earn one Green Key certification.
Problems Boutique hotels and resorts are independently branded and operated often creating a
difficult situation to achieve the required economies of scale; and in these present hostile
economic and political problems it results in fierce competition amongst other hotels. All give you
similar options, almost identical pricing, and one of a kind experience. This property has been
able to achieve adequate performance when the market was good, but now that things are tougher,
they are suffering due to poorly conceived. The property doesn t have the size and scale to

Legalization Of Marijuan Recreational And Medicinal Purposes
Marijuana: Recreational to Cultural to Medicinal Purpose and Legalization Kalpana Sapkota
Northwestern Oklahoma State University Abstract This paper provides detailed information about
the controversial topic that is the legalization of marijuana. Different articles proved that legal
status of marijuana has been debated vigorously and will continue to be a heated debate for years
to come. Marijuana has its negative effect but it can be used for recreational, cultural and medicinal
purposes. Different people have different views regarding legalization of marijuana, but the most
significant argument against legalization is that governmental approval of marijuana as a
prescription drug would send the wrong message to the general population and would cause more
extensive recreational use of this drug. The appropriate government response to the negative effects
is to fight them directly b stopping the illegal practitioners from doing them (Barnes, 2000, p.29).
Legalization of marijuana does not force people to use it but it is a personal choice to have it or not.
Marijuana has its positive and negative effects, but the government should make plan to increase
the positive effect and to eliminate the negative effect. Keywords: controversial,
neuropharmacologic, long term memory, short term memory, Mahashivaratri. Marijuana the
common drug The term marijuana is a word with many different names and indistinct origins. It is
a Latin, American and Spanish word.

Our president of the United States Treason Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies
war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States
or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five
years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any
office under the United States.(1)

Not only did he knowingly commit these treasonous acts, he then went on to knowlingly lie about
them. First, he denied the operations existance, then he denied the truth of the matter. This is
similar to Nixon s involvement with the watergate scandal (except Nixon didn t order the covert
actions, only covered them up). Nixon was in the process of impeachment and conviction when he
resigned as president and was later pardoned. Reagan is in a very similar situation to this, except he
took the extra step further and actually aided in the premeditation and execution of the actions.(4)
The Treasonous Actions of Reagan
The actions that Reagan took are treasonous because he, The President of the United States,
knowingly approved and supported a foreign policy that A) Violated US law B) Violated an arms
embargo against an enemy of America C) assissted terrorists that were taking US citizens as
hostages. These are all acts that knowlingly gave aid to enemies of the United States, and therefore

Advantages And Disadvantages Of In-Line Engine
In line four cylinder engine: This is a type of internal combustion engine mainly used in planes
and aircraft. In In line engines the cylinders are arrange in row having no offset. Also known as
straight line engines. In In line engines the cylinders are arrange in one or more parallel straight
lines. This type of engines firstly use in 1929. It commonly use because it have only one
cylinder bank, one valve train and one cylinder head. Constructions of in line engines are easy as
compared to V shape engines. Because the cylinder bank and crank shaft can be made from a

Cost effective. In Four cylinder engines the cylinder head is at highest point due to which spark
plug jobs and valve train access very easy therefore this type of engines are easy to work. It is
light weight and due to only one exhaust manifold weight is further reduce. Disadvantages: In in
line engines aerodynamic and HP loss have high rate because in lines/straight are taller engines
as the engine block needs to be fitted under the hood. This type of arrangement needs a large
nose due to longer engine and this could cause issue in bumper to bumper traffic. This type of
arrangements has cooling issues. This type of arrangements have high center of gravity as
compared to layout. Horizontal opposed: This is also known as a flat engine. Firstly this
concept was given by Germen engineer Karl Benz in 1896. In this type of engine the cylinders
are arranged in two banks on either sides of single crankshaft. Each cylinder has two pistons but
no cylinder head. This type of engines is not communally used but according to engineering
point of view it is a logical choice for a race engine. This is also known as Boxer because the
motion of piston is similar to the movement of boxer fists in the horizontal plane unlike the boxer s
fists that both move in the same direction, half of the Boxer engine s pistons move in the opposite

Target Market Segments For Ecostar
Target Market Segments for Ecostar
To ensure successful marketing for the Ecostar, it is most crucial to identify the best target market
segment for this new automobile. When it comes to buying hybrid automobiles, there are certain
customers who would more likely be interested in purchasing this kind of vehicle. Identifying the
best target market segments will allow Nighthawk Motors to better strategize how to attract
potential customers. The best group that should be targeted for marketing for the Ecostar is the
middle class. Middle class consumers have certain values in mind when they are making
purchases. While they are able to live comfortably, they still want to have the best quality
products for the amount of money that they spend. Low class consumers are more likely to buy
automobiles that are used due to higher financial restrictions (Blombäck, 2005). While high class
consumers are likely to buy new automobiles, they are also more likely to buy luxury brand
automobiles (Blombäck, 2005). Because Ecostar is a new automobile, middle class consumers
are the best target market as they are more likely to look to purchase a new automobile that is also
cost efficient. Another target segment are consumers who are environmentally conscious. Hybrid
automobiles pose many benefits that environmentally conscious consumers can appreciate. Hybrid
automobiles have better gas mileage, which allows hybrid drivers on average five additional miles
per gallon compared to non hybrid

From The Moment Children Are Born They Are Instantly Assigned
From the moment children are born they are instantly assigned the gender that society considers
appropriate, this can usually be characterized by the pink or blue clothes they are given. The
immediate separation of gender emphasizes the importance of dividing gender and keeping strict
constructs in our society. So when a man or woman diverges from how they are expected to act,
they are seen as outcasts that need to be molded into what is acceptable in society s eyes. In her
book, An Introduction to Female Masculinity Judith Jack Halberstam examines the ideas and
struggles surrounding masculine women, and those who deviate from society s view of a normal
male or female. One of the main ways Halberstam analyzes the struggles of masculine... Show more

Halberstam claims that gender deviance in girls comes mostly from desiring the greater freedoms
and mobilities that boys tend to have. Through analyzing the arguments of Murnen on gender
constructs one can better understand the claims of Halberstam. Murnen asserts that the
surroundings children are in have a great effect on how they see themselves so even the toys kids
play with will influence their gender identities. The toys influence boys and girls in two different
ways. Boy s products usually encourage traits that include career orientation, leadership, aggression,
assertiveness, and independence, which are usually associated with higher status people. On the
other hand, girl s products encourage traits that include being emotional, warm, interested in
children, sensitive to others, a good listener, friendly, and attentive to appearance, which are
associated with being status neutral (Murnen). Looking back at Halberstam s claim it only makes
sense that tomboys want to escape from the belittlement of girls products and experience the
dominant traits of boys products. By combining the ideas of Halberstam and Murnen the reasons
behind why a girl wants to express masculine identity becomes slightly clearer, but they are not
completely explained.
After examining Craig and Lacroix s essay the reader should have a complete understanding of
why someone would identify as a tomboy. Craig and Lacroix explain the tomboy

The Legality Of Physician Assisted Dying
In 1997 a Supreme Court case, Washington v Glucksberg, questioned the status quo asserting that a
physician should not be allowed to legally assist a terminally ill individual if he or she wishes to
die. While the plaintiffs lost, the case made clear that several people in the country were
questioning the status quo. The legality of physician assisted dying (PAD), synonymous with death
with dignity, ultimately rests on the opinions of the public (which are often religiously and
politically influenced) and therefore is dependent on a theory known as system justification (New
York University). (System justification states that people will accept and even defend a status quo,
simply because it is the norm.) This case was one of the many steps... Show more content on

Let us take a second to truly understand dignity. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines dignity as,
the quality or state of being worthy, honored, and esteemed as well as, formal reserve for
seriousness of manner, appearance, or language. That being said, a dignified death, which
would bring back a sense of power to a person otherwise without control of their life, should be
done in a way that shows respect for one s self. For the sake of uniformity we will look at the
federal government in this matter, as well as solely focusing on people who are terminally ill and
wish to die by their own means, in a dignified manner. As I stated, the Supreme Court upheld in
1997 that assisted suicide ought to be criminalized, as well as asserting that people do not have a
right to die (The Kevorkian Verdict). With that said, despite a few state outliers, if an individual is
in a circumstance where they wish to die, they have no other option than to take the matter into
their own hands. Methods of suicide contain firearm, strangulation or suffocation, falling or
jumping, and poisoning or drug overdoses, all ranging in effectiveness (NSPL). Imagine an
individual that only has a few more months to live, and wants to regain control of their life. They
can no longer go to the bathroom alone, and are constantly being monitored. They no longer wish
to live, and they want to die in a dignified way. This person, in the status quo, has the options I

Taking a Look at the Titan Arum
The Titan arum is a magnificent plant that stands high above the plumage of other plants. It is a
member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence while also being enclosed
by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or Amorphophallus titanum was first
discovered by Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari in 1878. Titan arumare known to grow as large as
3.06 meters tall in controlled botanical gardens (Barthlott et al.). Just a single blossomed flower
of the Titan arum can stretch out to be three feet across and 36 pounds. The flowers also retain a
darkish red, almost flesh colored hue (Milius). It took a staggering 11 years for the first instance
of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The snail like
pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded
across the world until 1989. In all aspects of size, this flower trumps others. the Titan arum s
flowering structure can grow up to measurements of 10 centimeters a day up to a height of 2.9
meters or roughly 9 and a half feet tall. Leaf height can reach a towering height of 6 meters, leaf
width can reach 4.5 meters, and the tuber, the energy storing structure of the plant, can grow to be
150 pounds. This hefty tuber can also grow into the ground and stay formant for one to three years
(RBG). These monstrous plants, however stalwart they might seem, have been placed under a

The Importance Of Body Art
First of all, body art can promote the self awareness of people, which means one focuses attention
on himself and understands personal features, feelings and behaviors. Body art has a strong
impact on human vision and soul, because it can always catch the human nature and embodies the
publicity of human nature (Greif, J., Hewitt, 1999). In fact, the body is the most primitive and
natural expression of human beings, and the art of body is an external form of expression, taking
the human nature as its main feature. Since the body art reflects the nature of human body, it
enables us to see the truest and the most essential things in human society. As Hagel said, the body
of human is the inner life of the spirit . The word spirit is a realm yearns for truth, wisdom,
cognition, beauty and love, which never changes or fades. Therefore, on the one hand, body art
raises individual conscious. This in turn 3 makes people think about themselves more deeply;
understand both themselves and the development of human nature more clearly. Undoubtedly,
human society is able to make a progress by deepening the understanding of human beings. On the
other hand, body art awakens our appreciation of beauty and the greatness of our creator. Other
than showing the external beauty of the human body, body art, indeed serves as an artistic
appreciation. Modern artists borrow the body language to worship, appreciate the natural life of
youth, sing the praises of love and the pursuit of freedom

Knowledge of jazz has fallen far behind its development. Most people do not know the facts on
jazz, only some generalities and stereotypes. Often being called America s only original art form,
jazz began as an ethnic music, but there is much more to jazz than music. It is difficult to think of

The musicians have to be incredibly creative to do this, but it is kind of unrealistic. They are
expected to sound different from other musicians and from themselves each time they perform.
Another form is composition, which is when they play music they have already written. Arranging
is when the musicians make a plan that they agree to play by beforehand. This is supposed to give
shape to their performance. Out of these three forms, the jazz musicians usually choose
improvisation over the others.
When listening to jazz, people hear it different ways. Some people like the physical level and
others use more intellect. Many keep score, make lists of names, and guess the outcomes of the
music. People listen to recordings or attend live performances. Listening to recordings is not
even close to being at a performance. Recordings are usually only a few minutes long, but
performances can last an hour or longer. There has to be an interaction between the performers
and the audience to get the full effect of jazz. Jazz was performed wherever there was space and
demand. The music first came about and still is popular in nightclubs. Small clubs were the places
where jazz musicians came to maturity. Clubs in New York City were the center of jazz activity.
Although New York City was a main location of jazz, New Orleans has more recognition

The Book Of The Courter Castiglione Summary
Would Castiglione Like Competition Shows?
Competition television shows have made the world a better place! In The Book of the Courtier
there is a discussion about characteristics of a good courtier. One of the characteristics was
sprezzatura. This characteristic means that the courtier should go about showing off their skills and
talents in a nonchalance way, even if they worked hard behind the scenes. If Castiglione watched
television today his least favorite genre would be completion shows.
Importance Of Sprezzatura
Castiglione thought that sprezzatura was important to show skill as an effortless talent. He
highlights this point flat out by saying Practice in all things a certain sprezzatura [nonchalance],
so as to conceal all art and make whatever is done or said appear to be without effort and almost
without any thought about it (Bizzell Herzberg, 2001, p.661). Even if a person practiced for hours
on end they should not let others know. Instead the skill should be presented as a natural talent.
Presenting a skill in this way keeps the audience in the dark on the preparation that went into
making the speaker come off as effortless. Consequently this point leads me to believe that
Castiglione would dislike completion shows because this goes against nonchalance.

Reality is Quality There are many perspectives and definitions on art, an abstract topic. In the
world of books, nothing is considered art unless the novel can engage the readers through the
author s use of emotions and stylistic syntax. Using Groen s essay Books Still Win tragic realism
is seen in Joshua Ferris novelThen We Came to the End. Tragic realism is evident in Ferris novel
through the fact there is both good and bad within a person, that life improves with struggles and
that sadness is always evident. An author s piece begins to impact the audience once connections

between Mason s position in the company and the rest of the employees. Ferris portrays Pope as
a loner and a person who underestimates everyone else in the company due to the workers

harassment and prison. There are many who can relate to Joe s personality and past life, which
makes this book a good example for tragic realism. Nothing comes easily to a person; one has to

Barry Ramoi, we are all here today to review and debate our current laws affecting the Australian

life has become vastly different to that of our grandparents. The values of the new generation are
changing and our laws need to be updated to be properly adequate for these changes. One of
those laws that I personally feel requires immediate change is our current laws surrounding
surrogacy as it has always been and always will be a common desire to have a family. The current
laws and penalties are Inconsistent throughout all states, they discriminate especially against same

On Saturday, December 3rd at 4 pm, I watched the play Tartuffe at York College. Tartuffe is a
classic French play written by Moliere. It was originally named Tartuffe, ou I Imposteur . And it
was first performed in 1664. The play is a comedy that centers around the character Tartuffe who is
a hypocritical holy man. Throughout the play Moliere indirectly tackles many societal problems in
his time. The play starts in Orgon s house. Where him and his mother (Madame Pernelle) are having

economy. All together, natural disasters caused an estimated $1.8 billion in damage and economic
loss. Because of this, they rely on trading to receive many things, which sometimes increases the
need for exporting goods. On the other hand, between 2002 and 2017, the unemployment rates
averaged to 3.07%. Based on the problems going on in the country, people would expect this rate to
be much higher. However, more than half the population lives in rural areas and since agriculture is
a main factor, many people become farmers, which lowers the unemployment rates. Guatemala is
known as a poorer country and this is the result of the unequal distribution of wealth and land. As a
result, this is the countries biggest reason for uneven development in the region, and with this, high

Peer Leadership Essay
Peer Leadership Final: Section Two
1. The Retreat This was one of the best experiences that I had all year. I loved just about every
part of it. Going into the retreat, I was nervous. I worried about the school that I was missing, if I
had packed enough, if I was going to like the food, if I was going to feel a part of the group, etc.
But I faced it head on and had an absolutely incredible experience. Firstly, I really enjoyed not
having phones. It was weird for me to not be able to reach into my pocket to check the time or to
check up on what was happening back in Burlington. It allowed to to really cherish the moment and
focus on spending my time with the nineteen other people that I was with. Each activity that we did
on the retreat was a ton of fun and equally valuable for me, but I will highlight just my favorites.
One of the things that I loved most from the retreat was the one on one talks. I am someone who
doesn t tend to be great at sitting down with someone and really getting to know them and having
deep conversation with them. When I did so, I loved it more than words could speak. I am a rather
intellectual and thoughtful person, but I don t tend to share those thoughts. I talked with Lindsey,
Cal, Nylah, and Jon Michael. Those conversations were and still are so special to me. I wish that
we had continued to have those randomly assigned deep talks throughout the year, as they helped
me to validate my feelings and to really connect with individual peer

What Are The Stereotypes In The Bean Trees
In the two novels, The Bean Trees and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, authors Barbara
Kingsolver and Maya Angelou use both of their stories to challenge the stereotypes that society
has put in place about the idea of femininity and the gender roles of men and women. In The
Bean Trees, protagonist Taylor Greer unexpectedly becomes a mother when she cares for a
Native American child given to her on the side of a road, however, she does not behave like
society s version of a maternal figure in that she takes on roles that would be likely belong to a
man. On the other hand, in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou writes an autobiography
and she portrays her own older brother, Bailey, as a more feminine character, although he is
expected to have manly qualities as an African American male. Because of the high standards and
stereotypes that our society has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, Kingsolver and Angelou use the characters of Taylor and Bailey to exemplify how
we can break the conventional stereotypes of our culture and live based off of our own personal
standards, without feeling pressured to conform to the world. Society often depicts mothers as
gentle, caring maternal figures that invest their time into taking care of their child while at home,
though we see a different picture of a mother portrayed in The Bean Trees. After a few months of
living with her newly received baby girl, Taylor moves in with a woman named Lou Ann, who is
a single mother just like her. Lou Ann and Taylor soon become their version of a family, as Lou

Tata Nano
History of Tata Nano
After having successfully launched the low cost Tata Ace truck in 2005, Tata Motors began
development of an affordable car that would appeal to the many Indians who drive motorcycles.[4]
The purchase price of this no frills auto was brought down by dispensing with most nonessential
features, reducing the amount of steel used in its construction, and relying on low cost Indian labor.
The introduction of the Nano received much media attention due to its low price.
The Tata Nanois a city car manufactured by Tata Motors. Made and sold in India, the Nano is the
cheapest car in the world today. Before it went on sale, a price of 1 lakh (US$1,600) was widely

environment as crucial to business that it is a model of those elements in the environment that may
affect the business‟s decision making but it is beyond the influence of the business. Those
different elements‟ effects on different industry may also vary according to the nature of the
individual industry. 3 As the industry has no control power of the remote forces, the analysis of
those elements become of notable value for either existing players in the arena wishing to remain
its domain or new entrants planning to overtake the crown. The social networking sites as a

The Significant Roles Of Citizen Journalism And The Role...
When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what democracy is
when it comes to politics and civic life. It allows for the active participation of the citizens in news
gathering and reporting. The advancements that have taken place in the field of technology have
enabled people to gain an opportunity to become producers of content that they used to be
consumers of in the past through the mainstream media. Today, everyone has an opportunity to
become a citizen journalist (Allan and Einar 76). There is an array of social media platforms and
accounts whose key role is to disseminate information to the public, especially in cases where
individuals may feel that conventional journalismwould want to shield the public from some
information. Citizen journalists employ an extensive range of methods in the generation and
dissemination of information. Much of these are driven by the advancements that have taken place
in the field of technology and the forms of communication available to the public. These include
the internet, the mobile phone, and the different camera gadgets which can all be employed in the
gathering and sharing of information (DeMers, 89). One of the significant roles that citizen
journalism could play in the society would be to fill the gap that is often left by traditional media
as they try to play their role as the protector of public interest. The internet provides the technical
means, while the citizens play the active

Beanie Babies Phenomenon
Beanie Baby phenomenon has really opened a lot of eyes in the toys industry, especially, because
this phenomenon was sustained in an industry that is known to be very turbulent based on the fact
that, there are a lot of substitutes that come into the industry everyday, moreover, the excitement
that these toys create, only can last for a short period of time as buyers in this market (usually
children) tend to have an inconsistent buying behaviour and unpredictable majority of the time.
This was not the case for Beanie Babies.
How did TY Warner achieve that?

returns. That tactic created thirst amongst customers to hunt for the rare Beanie Babies from store

Beanie Babies held human features to them like: names, poems and birthday dates that children
can get attached to and will try to get the ones that represent their loved ones or friends birthday
dates or the one that is closest to their pet. The design itself was very appealing to children as it is
very simple and the toy comes under stuffed so the usage will be more interactive and fun for kids

The launching of the website in 1996 boosted the sales, as customers from all over the world

When I was little, I stumbled across the soundtrack of an Italian film titled Cinema Paradiso. I

Examples Of Savage In Syria
Since the 1600 s philosophers have frequently debated whether or not man in his natural state is
civil or savage. Philosophers theorised that in a scenario called the state of nature a human s true
state would become apparent. The state of nature is defined by famous philosophers Hobbes and
Locke as the state men are (or would be) in living together without effective government
(Simmons 450). While the majority of the modern world appears to be civil there is one example
of the state of nature in which the savage nature of man can be seen clearly, Syria. Although Syria
does have a government, the government is not currently operating effectively and is not fulfilling
its responsibility to protect its citizens using civil laws. What started... Show more content on

The Syrian regime on countless occasions has displayed that humans act out of perceived self
interest as they have mercilessly attacked civilians for insignificant gains. While at war with the

from sexual enslavement to massacres of villages for no reason other than for personal satisfaction.

Differences Between Modernism And Postmodernism
There are a lot of differences between modernism and postmodernism. The first is that modernism
began in the late 19th century and lasted until the 20th century, specifically from the year 1890s to
1945. According to Oak (2008), ... modernism and postmodernism highlights the difference in the
approaches towards life. A good example would be, during the modernist era rational and logical
thinking was encouraged as well as being objective and postmodernismdoes not and is subjective.
My chosen major is fashion designing. The purpose of fashion to me is an artistic way of self
expression, it is not only shown through clothing, but a large variety of things like one s hair,
personality and even plastic surgery! It is because, self expression is more than just what you wear
but a way to show your personality through fashion.
Jameson (1998, 1) stated, The concept of postmodernism is not widely accepted or even
understood today. It is not accepted especially for the fashion industry and there are people who
still do not accept fashion as a form of art in the postmodernism era but also during the modernist
era, Paul Poiret stated Am I a fool when I dream of putting art into my dresses, a fool when I say
dressmaking is an art? ... It seems to be that we practice the same craft, and that they are my
fellow workers. There are many different styles in fashion from all around the world that carries

The service members are not the only ones that the feel pain of these injuries and illnesses alone.
Most of them are married and have dependent children. Some service members are married to

Hydrogen Bonding
A hydrogen bond is the electromagnetic attractive interaction between polar molecules in which
hydrogen (H) is bound to a highly electronegative atom, such as nitrogen (N), oxygen (O) or
fluorine (F). The name hydrogen bond is something of a misnomer, as it is not a true bond but a
particularly strong dipole dipole attraction, and should not be confused with a covalent bond.
These hydrogen bond attractions can occur between molecules (intermolecular) or within different
parts of a single molecule (intramolecular).[1] The hydrogen bond (5 to 30 kJ/mole) is stronger
than a van der Waals interaction, but weaker than covalent or ionic bonds. This type of bond can
occur in inorganic molecules such as water and in organic molecules like DNA ... Show more

For example, the central interresidue Nв€’HВ·В·В·N hydrogen bond between guanine and cytosine
is much stronger in comparison to the Nв€’HВ·В·В·N bond between the adenine thymine pair.[11]
The length of hydrogen bonds depends on bond strength, temperature, and pressure. The bond
strength itself is dependent on temperature, pressure, bond angle, and environment (usually
characterized by local dielectric constant). The typical length of a hydrogen bond in water is 197
pm. The ideal bond angle depends on the nature of the hydrogen bond donor. The following
hydrogen bond angles between a hydrofluoric acid donor and various acceptors have been
determined experimentally:[12]

Ethical Challenges In Counseling
Apprehensions and Challenges An apprehension I have as I entered into the counseling field is
that I may unconsciously hold back a part of myself in fear of crossing ethical boundaries, by
saying or possibly doing something that may offend my client. In addition being prepared to
take action if and when an ethical situation arises. I also have to be self aware of any biases I
may be hindering that could or would cause ethical challenges or issues. The Challenge I will

counselor is faced with an ethical dilemma, it can be the professional counselors biggest ical
challenge in determining what the best course of action to will be (Forester Miller Davis,1996).
I realize that as I evolve in the counseling field my level of comfort and understanding of ethical

There is a level of nervousness I have with ethics regarding counseling. I am thinking with the
ethical policies and procedures the solution is to continue to study the ACA code of ethics and

The Mayan s are known to have a deeply artistic and spiritual culture that is expressed through
their music and dance that goes back in ancient times (Lozano, n.d.). The influences of their culture
and religious practices are seen even in modern day celebrations. It s amazing how a form of
dance, such as the Mayan dance, expect so much in fine detail and specificity while having the
ability to thrive to modern times. In order to understand how this culture has lived for so long we
must come to terms with its history, details of performances, and attire.
Where it Comes From? The Mayan s sacred dance rituals came from their relationship with their

In simple words, market research is the process of collecting, recording and evaluating data which
relates to various products and services.

Another form of research is the consumer based research.
Primary research involves collection of data directly from the consumers. It is quite an expensive
method of research though quite effective. Customer feedbacks are collected through telephonic
interviews, surveys and group discussions. The primary research is further categorized into
quantitative and qualitative research.
Quantitative research: In quantitative researches, surveys are conducted to collect numerical data.
Most of the surveys include close ended questions which are less time consuming. It is quite easy
to collect such data as consumers tend to be more co operative. The collected data is further
analyzed for a proper conclusion.
Qualitative research: In quantitative researches, group discussions or interviews are conducted to
gather information. This research involves open ended questions where consumers are required to
answer in depth questions. Experienced professionals are required to conduct interviews. It is both

Feminism In The Yellow Wallpaper
One feminist theory is that whenever woman hold power in society they are treated as the other
. Women have always been seen as domestic or the care takers of the family; women stay home
with the kids, tend to dinner and the cleaning. That being said whenever a woman, like Jane, tries
to step out of the nurturing role, men tend to feel intimidated and was unsure how to react to
such a thing happening (like when John and Jane s brother diagnose her to be mentally ill all
because she desires to write). In the time of the story, Jane is seen as mentally ill because she
desires to read and write while her husband who happens to be a physician of high standing says
she tends to have slightly hysterical tendency(Page 1, paragraph 5). In The Yellow Wallpaper
Gilman uses the yellow wallpaper to symbolize Jane, who represents the way women use to be
treated as the lesser in society.
In the time this story was written, back in 1899, men and women were not viewed as equals and
this short story is a prime example. As the readers go through the story they can literally see the
shifts in her sanity by her illness and the almost revolting yellow wallpaper, which represents all
the women who in that time period were overlooked by the men in society. In 1899, women did
not have much power. Women were to assume the role of becoming a wife and tending to the
husband s needs, they are not their own individual. She even says he is very careful and loving and

Three Musketeers Thesis
One for all, and all for one! The most famous and noticeable line in the Three Musketeers folklore
legacy whether it be from the films to the original book by Alexandre Dumas. Although this famous
line has been used throughout many reworks and adaptations of the three musketeers, many films
have not followed in the footsteps of the original book and have changed things to best appeal to
the audience. Most noticeably we see this in the 1993 Musketeer movie directed by Stephen Herek
that proclaimed that the main character D Artagnan, father was killed to set a tense mood. However
with that being said, there are also many things that reflect the time in which the book was written

As previously mentioned, the hierarchy of which the French population was separated was from
that of religious figures being the highest to common folk were placed at the rock bottom of the
pyramid. In the film this can be interpreted by the open fields and the villages in which people
were trading their crops for money or buying them among themself to live off of. France just like
any other place during this time in Europe and also worldwide was mostly agricultural as the first
industrial revolution started in the 1700 s by that of England first. With that being said the
implementation of showing the countryside and the social interactions between D artagnan and the
locals was another way that Stephen Herek subtly shown how France was during this time.
Ironically the whole plot of the Three Musketeers is a socio political statement in itself. If not
understood by reading the book by Alexandre Dumas and watching the films, the main plot is that
Cardinal Richelieu plots against the king of France, Louis XIII. In particular this film puts it in
which Cardinal Richelieu plots to form an alliance with England as France is about to go to war.

Advantage. (500 words)
Answer 1
To understand how Samsung achieved global competitive advantage we first need to understand
what do we mean by Strategy ?
At the business unit level, strategy is a set of management decisions concerning which customers to
target and what to offer them. (European Business Forum, 2007)1
Strategy is a concept that focuses on long term objectives of a firm keeping in view the changes
that take place in the business environment and the possible implications that it has on the firm.

The reason being that the company didn t depend upon its organizational members or managers to
act rationally and take decisions. Rather the firm was highly determined on revising its product
design in order to achieve global competitive advantage. The processual strategy states that
organizations whose products are genuinely better can outwit their competitors. In a similar manner
Samsung also came out with a variety of convergence products which gave the firm an extra boost
of competitive edge. For instance, Samsung launched 5 and 7 mega pixel camera phones in 2005
along with a 10 mega pixel camera in 2005. It also launched the SGH i310, a phone with a
capacity of 8 GB that could easily store about 2,000 MP3 files. By offering products that were
completely different and unique with respect to their design, features, quality etc. Samsung soon
occupied a major share in the electronics market. The systemic school sees strategy as constrained
and shaped by the socio economic systems in which it is embedded. (Small Business Economics,
Jan 2009)3 Samsung along with the processual strategy also adopts the systemic theory of strategy.
In that the company aligns its activities and products with the social systems that the firm interacts
with for instance cultural, political, social etc. Samsung functions in an environment that is highly

Analysis Of Theodore Roethke s The Waking
Though Theodore Roethke firmly lived his life in the modernist age, his works strongly echo the
transcendentalist way of writing comparable to Waldo or Emerson; however, he personalized this
form of writing through his own personal experiences. The foundations of his style of writing have
strong origins in his childhood, where his family s naturalistic lifestyle inspired him and where he
developed a deep connection to the natural world through the greenhouses that his family managed.
Due to this, one will almost always see the use of natural imagery in his writing to express more
complex ideas. As one would expect, his poem The Wakingis no exception. In this work, Roethke
uses the interaction between the speaker and the natural world in order to embody the progression
of cognitive awareness throughout the span of a single humanlife and to depict how one understands
such knowledge through the senses, experience, and thought.
Roethke opens the poem with the seemingly oxymoronic line I wake to sleep, and take my
waking slow (1). At first, one may wonder, how does one wake up to fall asleep? For these are
naturally opposing ideas; however, here Roethke is not using literal definitions. Through the word
wake, he is more likely referencing birth and the eventual enlightenment that one gains through life.
Conversely, sleep represents death and, thus, the ceasing of intellectual gain. So, the first part of the
line implies a dual meaning. Simply, the speaker is born only

Child Labor In The British Industrial Revolution
In the late Eighteenth century, Great Britain s shift from an agricultural based economy to one
based on industry began the period known as The British Industrial Revolution. With the increase in
the population exceeding four million, the small, rural industries were not able to meet the market s
growing demands for the production of textiles and manufactured goods. In an attempt to create
more efficient means of production, technologically advanced machines and new energy sources,
such as James Hargreaves Spinning Jenny and James Watt s steam engine, were created and placed
in urban factories. As these machines required no skill level to operate, countless members of the

The Civil Rights Movement And Our Nation s Continued...
In March the United States celebrates the Selma to Montgomery march of 1965 to honor the civil
rights movement and our nation s continued progress towards racial equality. Yet almost five
decades later a broken criminal justice system has proven that we still have a long way to go in
achieving racial equality. Today people of color continue to be excessively incarcerated, policed,
and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than whites. Further, racial differences in the
criminal justice system hurt communities of color by excluding thousands by limiting blacks the
right to vote, limiting employment opportunities ,housing, public benefits, and education to
millions more . While these disparities still exist it is crucial that a... Show more content on

Racial Differences Between African Americans And Europeans
Morrison expounds on this by explaining that racial characters like that in books and novels are
formed by an African presence, a presence that has a three parts towards its development. The
first part is through the hierarchic difference between African Americans and Europeans, which
was established years ago and is the simplest feature of the development. Basically, it is the
established belief of Europeans academic dominance over that of Africans, and the view of
Africans as ignorant and savage beast, not even humans. This belief is indeed how slavery was
formed. The second stage of the construction of Africanist is a bit more complex. This one is
involved the cracks and uncertain nature of Africans; this aspect involved the fear of What If? As
in what if Africans gained the knowledge to read and write, or what if they figure out that being
enslaved is indeed wrong and that the form together an army to fight back and gain their
independence from slavery. The third and final stage of this construction process is the use of
African Americancharacters, or any character that is of darker skin, and create the image of them
being evil or immoral or impure in comparison to Europeans and those of lighter skin tone. All three
stages combined creates the American Africanist that has caused many literary works be thrown
away and lost in history with other historical significance that the African race had a hand in the
development of the United Statesof America.

A Research Study On The Expression, Publish Or Perish, Is...
The expression publish or perish is the norm within all academic disciplines and researchers will
not get tenured if they do not publish academic work (Miller, Taylor Bedeian, 2011; Simmons,
Nelson Simonsohn, 2012; De Rond Miller, 2005). The same is true for professors applying for
grants or graduate students seeking scholarships, where having more publications will set someone
apart from other candidates. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as good researchers are expected
to produce good research, however standards for most scholarly journals to publish an academic
article mostly rely on significance (Sterling, 2012). Studies not finding significant results do not get
published and are often considered failures (Cumming, 2008;... Show more content on

The following will discuss the replication crisis from an undergraduate student s perspective and
how it affected my undergraduate journey specifically. Introductory statistics are part of the
problem Initial statistical courses are exciting, as students are taught the foundations of
conducting research by learning about inferential statistics. However, important topics such as
power, confidence intervals and effect sizes are briefly discussed and quickly forgotten due to
the large amount of new information taught in those courses. Over time, students simply learn to
rely on p values, where p .05, the null hypothesis is rejected and p .05, the null hypothesis is
retained. Statistics are overwhelming and a lot of practice and reading are required to fully
understand how it really works. I am a fourth year student and consider myself as having a
higher than average knowledge of statistics compared to most fellow students in my year, but I
have a lot to learn and am aware that I still do not understand most of it. That is one reason why
NHST is surviving, as it is convenient and a strong statistical knowledge is not needed to apply it
in research. The point is that appropriate ways to interpret statistics and ethical research practices
should be taught as early as possible to avoid the use of common unethical research practices. Next,

The Problem Of Mobile Usage While Driving
Introduction For the last thirty years, mobile phones have become a major contributor towards
communication, and it has been an essential device to many people. The introduction of car
telephones came in the 1980s, and the use of hand held and hands free devices has increased
quickly. General problems Mobile usage while driving is a primary concern for the traffic
safety. As it stands, the majority of drivers say 70% use their cell phone when driving. It is still
further estimated that 20 30% of road crashes result from driver s distraction and inattention.
The principal intention of this research is to identify some of the challenges that arise from the
using of the phone and the effects of using it while driving. In addition to the above, the report
will discuss some solutions on talking while driving. This report should be of much importance
to drivers who want to avoid dangerous traffics. It aims to bring out endangers of using a phone
on the road (Lamble 230). The situation is very worse; drivers have failed to adhere to the
universal rule of not using their phones while behind the wheel. In a particular survey on
accidents conducted, it was discovered that a lot of accidents were caused by reckless drivers that
were using their phones while driving. In our part, we shall try to find out some of the reason why
someone might decide to use a phone while driving. The use of texting messages to friends while
driving is a major factor that encourages the use of the phone

Finally, Monster Hole drops to 30 feet deep 30 to 40 yards off the jetty for experienced snorkelers.
While lifeguards are not present at this beach, a warning flag program alerts swimmers to
dangerous or restricted areas. With a bit of attention, surfers, snorkelers and swimmers enjoy the
sun and water safely. The Cove provides protected swimming with no waves, which is perfect for
young families. And, the other side of the Inlet boasts ocean waves for splashing over eager
swimmers.
Beachcombing on the shores of the Atlantic at Sebastian reveals plenty of shells and sea beans.
Sunbathing, of course, offers relaxation. And, for a change of pace and year round activity,
stargazing in the winter months is breathtaking. If that is not enough to do, canoeing and kayaking
on the Indian River Lagoon slows the pace.

  • 2. Narrative Essay About Moving To Canada As I walked to the parking lot where my mom had arrived to pick me up from school, my sister ran out of the car, ran towards me and yelled excitedly, We re going to Canada! Having grown up in Kuwait for my whole life of 15 years, I could hardly believe my sister s words. Going to Canada! I had only been out of the country twice, each time just to vacation and visit family in the Philippines where both my parents are from. I had always imagined what life would be like outside of Kuwait, and now it was finally going to be real. My 15 year old self was devastated We were leaving the only home I had known for 15 years. It did not take long for my sisters excitement to die when we realized that we would be leaving our friends and everything we ve ever known and not returning for a long time. Life in Kuwait for 15 years was comfortable and we were more than financially stable. Moving to Canada without a job offer in place meant that we would have to start from the beginning all over again. Goodbyes were hard but my parents encouraged us to see the joys of moving to a place where we could start over and become accepted citizens of a country. Arriving in Canada, I experienced the biggest culture shock of my life. Vancouver, BC was cold, wet, and loud. I had thought adjusting would be relatively easy; I spoke English with a slight accent but I was very shy that it confused some of the other kids to think I couldn t speak English. I did not understand the culture, which took a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

F., 2006). A kindergarten teacher who is teaching students to work independently and in small groups while learning about numbers must understand that the students are very diverse and have been taught in many different ways. Opportunities in renewable energy in tourism Our initial assessment for The Birchwood Hotel down town St. Petersburg focused on examining key areas for sustainable building practices consistent with Green Key guidelines. The areas assessed were corporate environmental management, housekeeping, conference and meeting spaces, food and beverage, engineering and maintenance. • 5. Legalization Of Marijuan Recreational And Medicinal Purposes Marijuana: Recreational to Cultural to Medicinal Purpose and Legalization Kalpana Sapkota Northwestern Oklahoma State University Abstract This paper provides detailed information about the controversial topic that is the legalization of marijuana. Different articles proved that legal status of marijuana has been debated vigorously and will continue to be a heated debate for years to come. Marijuana has its negative effect but it can be used for recreational, cultural and medicinal purposes. Different people have different views regarding legalization of marijuana, but the most significant argument against legalization is that governmental approval of marijuana as a prescription drug would send the wrong message to the general population and would cause more extensive recreational use of this drug. The appropriate government response to the negative effects is to fight them directly b stopping the illegal practitioners from doing them (Barnes, 2000, p.29). Legalization of marijuana does not force people to use it but it is a personal choice to have it or not. Marijuana has its positive and negative effects, but the government should make plan to increase the positive effect and to eliminate the negative effect. Keywords: controversial, neuropharmacologic, long term memory, short term memory, Mahashivaratri. • 8. Target Market Segments For Ecostar Target Market Segments for Ecostar To ensure successful marketing for the Ecostar, it is most crucial to identify the best target market segment for this new automobile. When it comes to buying hybrid automobiles, there are certain customers who would more likely be interested in purchasing this kind of vehicle. Identifying the best target market segments will allow Nighthawk Motors to better strategize how to attract potential customers. The best group that should be targeted for marketing for the Ecostar is the middle class. Middle class consumers have certain values in mind when they are making purchases. While they are able to live comfortably, they still want to have the best quality products for the amount of money that they spend. Low class consumers are more likely to buy automobiles that are used due to higher financial restrictions (BlombГ¤ck, 2005). While high class consumers are likely to buy new automobiles, they are also more likely to buy luxury brand automobiles (BlombГ¤ck, 2005). Because Ecostar is a new automobile, middle class consumers are the best target market as they are more likely to look to purchase a new automobile that is also cost efficient. Another target segment are consumers who are environmentally conscious. Hybrid automobiles pose many benefits that environmentally conscious consumers can appreciate. • 9. From The Moment Children Are Born They Are Instantly Assigned From the moment children are born they are instantly assigned the gender that society considers appropriate, this can usually be characterized by the pink or blue clothes they are given. The immediate separation of gender emphasizes the importance of dividing gender and keeping strict constructs in our society. So when a man or woman diverges from how they are expected to act, they are seen as outcasts that need to be molded into what is acceptable in society s eyes. In her book, An Introduction to Female Masculinity Judith Jack Halberstam examines the ideas and struggles surrounding masculine women, and those who deviate from society s view of a normal male or female. One of the main ways Halberstam analyzes the struggles of masculine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halberstam claims that gender deviance in girls comes mostly from desiring the greater freedoms and mobilities that boys tend to have. Through analyzing the arguments of Murnen on gender constructs one can better understand the claims of Halberstam. Murnen asserts that the surroundings children are in have a great effect on how they see themselves so even the toys kids play with will influence their gender identities. The toys influence boys and girls in two different ways. Boy s products usually encourage traits that include career orientation, leadership, aggression, assertiveness, and independence, which are usually associated with higher status people. On the other hand, girl s products encourage traits that include being emotional, warm, interested in children, sensitive to others, a good listener, friendly, and attentive to appearance, which are associated with being status neutral (Murnen). Looking back at Halberstam s claim it only makes sense that tomboys want to escape from the belittlement of girls products and experience the dominant traits of boys products. By combining the ideas of Halberstam and Murnen the reasons behind why a girl wants to express masculine identity becomes slightly clearer, but they are not completely explained. After examining Craig and Lacroix s essay the reader should have a complete understanding of why someone would identify as a tomboy. Craig and Lacroix explain the tomboy ... • 10. The Legality Of Physician Assisted Dying In 1997 a Supreme Court case, Washington v Glucksberg, questioned the status quo asserting that a physician should not be allowed to legally assist a terminally ill individual if he or she wishes to die. While the plaintiffs lost, the case made clear that several people in the country were questioning the status quo. The legality of physician assisted dying (PAD), synonymous with death with dignity, ultimately rests on the opinions of the public (which are often religiously and politically influenced) and therefore is dependent on a theory known as system justification (New York University). (System justification states that people will accept and even defend a status quo, simply because it is the norm.) This case was one of the many steps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let us take a second to truly understand dignity. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines dignity as, the quality or state of being worthy, honored, and esteemed as well as, formal reserve for seriousness of manner, appearance, or language. That being said, a dignified death, which would bring back a sense of power to a person otherwise without control of their life, should be done in a way that shows respect for one s self. For the sake of uniformity we will look at the federal government in this matter, as well as solely focusing on people who are terminally ill and wish to die by their own means, in a dignified manner. As I stated, the Supreme Court upheld in 1997 that assisted suicide ought to be criminalized, as well as asserting that people do not have a right to die (The Kevorkian Verdict). With that said, despite a few state outliers, if an individual is in a circumstance where they wish to die, they have no other option than to take the matter into their own hands. Methods of suicide contain firearm, strangulation or suffocation, falling or jumping, and poisoning or drug overdoses, all ranging in effectiveness (NSPL). Imagine an individual that only has a few more months to live, and wants to regain control of their life. They can no longer go to the bathroom alone, and are constantly being monitored. They no longer wish to live, and they want to die in a dignified way. This person, in the status quo, has the options I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence while also being enclosed by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or Amorphophallus titanum was first discovered by Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari in 1878. Titan arumare known to grow as large as 3.06 meters tall in controlled botanical gardens (Barthlott et al.). Just a single blossomed flower of the Titan arum can stretch out to be three feet across and 36 pounds. The flowers also retain a darkish red, almost flesh colored hue (Milius). It took a staggering 11 years for the first instance of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The snail like pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded across the world until 1989. In all aspects of size, this flower trumps others. the Titan arum s flowering structure can grow up to measurements of 10 centimeters a day up to a height of 2.9 meters or roughly 9 and a half feet tall. Leaf height can reach a towering height of 6 meters, leaf width can reach 4.5 meters, and the tuber, the energy storing structure of the plant, can grow to be 150 pounds. • 12. The Importance Of Body Art First of all, body art can promote the self awareness of people, which means one focuses attention on himself and understands personal features, feelings and behaviors. Body art has a strong impact on human vision and soul, because it can always catch the human nature and embodies the publicity of human nature (Greif, J., Hewitt, 1999). In fact, the body is the most primitive and natural expression of human beings, and the art of body is an external form of expression, taking the human nature as its main feature. Since the body art reflects the nature of human body, it enables us to see the truest and the most essential things in human society. As Hagel said, the body of human is the inner life of the spirit . The word spirit is a realm yearns for truth, wisdom, cognition, beauty and love, which never changes or fades. Therefore, on the one hand, body art raises individual conscious. This in turn 3 makes people think about themselves more deeply; understand both themselves and the development of human nature more clearly. Undoubtedly, human society is able to make a progress by deepening the understanding of human beings. On the other hand, body art awakens our appreciation of beauty and the greatness of our creator. Other than showing the external beauty of the human body, body art, indeed serves as an artistic appreciation. Modern artists borrow the body language to worship, appreciate the natural life of youth, sing the praises of love and the pursuit of freedom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are expected to sound different from other musicians and from themselves each time they perform. Another form is composition, which is when they play music they have already written. Arranging is when the musicians make a plan that they agree to play by beforehand. This is supposed to give shape to their performance. Out of these three forms, the jazz musicians usually choose improvisation over the others. When listening to jazz, people hear it different ways. Some people like the physical level and others use more intellect. Many keep score, make lists of names, and guess the outcomes of the music. People listen to recordings or attend live performances. Listening to recordings is not even close to being at a performance. Recordings are usually only a few minutes long, but performances can last an hour or longer. There has to be an interaction between the performers and the audience to get the full effect of jazz. Jazz was performed wherever there was space and demand. • 14. The Book Of The Courter Castiglione Summary Would Castiglione Like Competition Shows? Competition television shows have made the world a better place! In The Book of the Courtier there is a discussion about characteristics of a good courtier. One of the characteristics was sprezzatura. This characteristic means that the courtier should go about showing off their skills and talents in a nonchalance way, even if they worked hard behind the scenes. If Castiglione watched television today his least favorite genre would be completion shows. Importance Of Sprezzatura Castiglione thought that sprezzatura was important to show skill as an effortless talent. He highlights this point flat out by saying Practice in all things a certain sprezzatura [nonchalance], so as to conceal all art and make whatever is done or said appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it (Bizzell Herzberg, 2001, p.661). Even if a person practiced for hours on end they should not let others know. Instead the skill should be presented as a natural talent. Presenting a skill in this way keeps the audience in the dark on the preparation that went into making the speaker come off as effortless. Consequently this point leads me to believe that Castiglione would dislike completion shows because this goes against nonchalance. Americas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what democracy is when it comes to politics and civic life. These hydrogen bond attractions can occur between molecules (intermolecular) or within different parts of a single molecule (intramolecular).[1] The hydrogen bond (5 to 30 kJ/mole) is stronger than a van der Waals interaction, but weaker than covalent or ionic bonds. I also have to be self aware of any biases I may be hindering that could or would cause ethical challenges or issues. I realize that as I evolve in the counseling field my level of comfort and understanding of ethical behavior and situations will continue to increase. There is a level of nervousness I have with ethics regarding counseling. I am thinking with the ethical policies and procedures the solution is to continue to study the ACA code of ethics and be aware of what I say and how I interact with my future clients. • 40. Feminism In The Yellow Wallpaper One feminist theory is that whenever woman hold power in society they are treated as the other . Women have always been seen as domestic or the care takers of the family; women stay home with the kids, tend to dinner and the cleaning. That being said whenever a woman, like Jane, tries to step out of the nurturing role, men tend to feel intimidated and was unsure how to react to such a thing happening (like when John and Jane s brother diagnose her to be mentally ill all because she desires to write). In the time of the story, Jane is seen as mentally ill because she desires to read and write while her husband who happens to be a physician of high standing says she tends to have slightly hysterical tendency(Page 1, paragraph 5). In The Yellow Wallpaper Gilman uses the yellow wallpaper to symbolize Jane, who represents the way women use to be treated as the lesser in society. In the time this story was written, back in 1899, men and women were not viewed as equals and this short story is a prime example. As the readers go through the story they can literally see the shifts in her sanity by her illness and the almost revolting yellow wallpaper, which represents all the women who in that time period were overlooked by the men in society. In 1899, women did not have much power. Women were to assume the role of becoming a wife and tending to the husband s needs, they are not their own individual. • 45. Analysis Of Theodore Roethke s The Waking Though Theodore Roethke firmly lived his life in the modernist age, his works strongly echo the transcendentalist way of writing comparable to Waldo or Emerson; however, he personalized this form of writing through his own personal experiences. The foundations of his style of writing have strong origins in his childhood, where his family s naturalistic lifestyle inspired him and where he developed a deep connection to the natural world through the greenhouses that his family managed. Due to this, one will almost always see the use of natural imagery in his writing to express more complex ideas. As one would expect, his poem The Wakingis no exception. In this work, Roethke uses the interaction between the speaker and the natural world in order to embody the progression of cognitive awareness throughout the span of a single humanlife and to depict how one understands such knowledge through the senses, experience, and thought. Roethke opens the poem with the seemingly oxymoronic line I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow (1). At first, one may wonder, how does one wake up to fall asleep? For these are naturally opposing ideas; however, here Roethke is not using literal definitions. Through the word wake, he is more likely referencing birth and the eventual enlightenment that one gains through life. Conversely, sleep represents death and, thus, the ceasing of intellectual gain. So, the first part of the line implies a dual meaning. Simply, the speaker is born only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Racial Differences Between African Americans And Europeans Morrison expounds on this by explaining that racial characters like that in books and novels are formed by an African presence, a presence that has a three parts towards its development. The first part is through the hierarchic difference between African Americans and Europeans, which was established years ago and is the simplest feature of the development. Basically, it is the established belief of Europeans academic dominance over that of Africans, and the view of Africans as ignorant and savage beast, not even humans. This belief is indeed how slavery was formed. The second stage of the construction of Africanist is a bit more complex. This one is involved the cracks and uncertain nature of Africans; this aspect involved the fear of What If? As in what if Africans gained the knowledge to read and write, or what if they figure out that being enslaved is indeed wrong and that the form together an army to fight back and gain their independence from slavery. The third and final stage of this construction process is the use of African Americancharacters, or any character that is of darker skin, and create the image of them being evil or immoral or impure in comparison to Europeans and those of lighter skin tone.
