Film Essays
Writing an essay on the subject of "Film Essays" can be both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the topic but also in the need to balance
subjective interpretation with objective analysis. Films are a complex art form, encompassing
elements of visual storytelling, cinematography, sound design, and thematic depth. Crafting an
essay requires a deep understanding of these components and the ability to articulate one's
thoughts coherently.
One of the challenges is navigating the fine line between personal interpretation and scholarly
analysis. While it's essential to express one's subjective experience of a film, a film essay should
also delve into the broader context, considering the director's intent, cultural influences, and the
historical backdrop. Striking the right balance requires a nuanced approach, and it's easy to veer
into overly personal reflections or overly academic language.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of the film industry adds another layer of complexity. New
releases, emerging directors, and evolving cinematic trends constantly reshape the landscape.
Staying current with the latest developments while maintaining a timeless perspective on classic
films is no small feat.
Additionally, research is crucial. A well-rounded film essay demands extensive knowledge of
film theory, history, and critical approaches. This involves reading scholarly articles, watching
films with a discerning eye, and keeping up with academic discourse on cinema.
Despite the challenges, writing a film essay can be immensely rewarding. It allows for a deep
exploration of one's passion for cinema and offers an opportunity to engage with a diverse range
of ideas. The process of articulating thoughts on film enhances critical thinking skills and fosters
a deeper appreciation for the art form.
In conclusion, tackling the subject of "Film Essays" involves navigating the complexities of
cinematic art, balancing subjective experiences with objective analysis, staying current with
industry trends, and conducting thorough research. The challenge lies in synthesizing these
elements into a cohesive and insightful essay that not only reflects the writer's perspective but
also contributes meaningfully to the broader discourse on film.

The Tipping Point By Malcom Gladwell
In The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell, Gladwell discusses how ideas are
spread as a result of social epidemics. Through his concepts of The Law of the Few,
The Stickiness Factor, and The Power of Context, we can examine how certain sticky
trends spread through our society. The trend I will be examining now is the current
manbun epidemic. The so called man bun came to be the latest fashion trend for men
due in part to the internet and to other factors as discussed in Gladwell s The Tipping
Point. 2015 was a year of many different trends spreading throughout society, but
arguably none more polarizing than that of the man bun. Men growing their hair
out long is nothing new, but 2015 was populated with men of all ages pulling their
hair into buns at the top of their head. We have now reached a point in history
where a Google search for man bun will reveal headlines such as Official Site for
Manbuns and Long Hair or Am I Man Enough for a Man Bun? , and advertisements
for Clip On Instant Man Bun. How did we get to this point? A few years prior to
this and such a search may have revealed nothing more than an ironic desert recipe.
How did our society get to this point, then? According to Gladwell, trends like this
that become popular overnight due to their ability to spread like the flu. Such trends
can be labeled social epidemics and Gladwell uses three rules to describe their ability
to spread so rapidly. The first rule Gladwell describes is termed The Law of

Kurt Cobain and Dave Krist Novoselic originally formed the group in Aberdeen,
Washington in 1987. They didn t really hit the scene, however, until the release of
their first album, Bleach, in 1989. The record sold several thousand copies and
was pretty successful for being produced for only $600. In 1990, Dave Grohl who,
according to the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, is an experienced member of the
Washington DC punk rock scene replaced the group s drummer. It was this trio
that became so popular in the early 1990s and remains well known today. With his
furious screams and lethargic grumbles the style of Kurt Cobain s voice really
makes the band s sound original (Encyclopedia of Popular Music). A great example
of this style is the hit Smells Like Teen Spirit from their most popular album
Nevermind. Following the success of this album, Cobain began to struggle with the
lack of appreciation for his social commentary through music, keeping a very hostile
view toward his fame. The group s last album, In Utero, holds a very confrontational

It begins with a simple guitar intro followed by the lead singer singing the first verse
without any accompaniment other than the guitar. By the first hook, the whole
instrumentation has joined it and the song reaches it s full volume. The song does not
really fit into a genre, but one could argue punk rock, alternative rock, and many other
things. It is very clear, however, that blues heavily influences the song. This is shown
through several elements including the guitar riff, which slightly resembles a walking
The Day Of An Ox Essay
Ian, my father s deep voice shouted out across the steppe. I need you over here. I
couldn t run through all the various animals we had, so I sprinted around the
menagerie. Half way across, I heard the laborious bay of an ox. It s probably giving
birth, I thought to myself. Just as I rounded the herd, I saw my father and cousin,
who was more a like another brother, besides what it looked to be an ox giving
birth. Who knew, right? As I walked over to the scene, my dad waved me over
impatiently. I moved at a faster pace, but it was a wary pace. I m always nervous
about birth and knew that it was a painful, yet rewarding process. How bad is it, I
asked. it is bloody? Of course it is, pothoc, my cousin, Gresh, said annoyed. Like I

Challenges Of The African-American Civil Rights
Movement
The civil rights movement is one the significant historical movements in America.
African American struggled in the mid twentieth century to achieve freedom. The
dream of being free seemed impossible as to reaching the unreachable star. Even
though nearly ten decades after President Abraham Lincoln issued Emancipation
Proclamation to abolish slavery in America, African American were still suffering
from racial inequality in southern states. The segregation of schools, housing, jobs,
public transportation, public spaces, military service and prisons was the biggest
challenge of the African Americans. The African American still suffered from
injustice access to the basic privileges and rights of the U.S. citizenship. Although the

This essay will discuss Foucault s and Bauldrillard s views on today s society.
Foucault sees the current state of the society as a system of domination, while
Baudrillard says that the society we knew has collapsed in to a world of images
produced by the mass media. Both of them focus on the cultural dimension of the
progression of the society and sees society as having moved on from modernity.
Though both have different views when it comes to Power, Foucault focuses on the
changing nature of power and the historical circumstances which assist the rise of
specific discourses while Bauldrillard on the other hand says that power is a mere
product of images, signs, and simulacra generated by the mass mediawhich makes it

For example, medical discourse dismisses other ways of treating people like holistic
medicines. Forms of knowledge are linked to discourses, knowledge simple refers to
the particular construction or version of a phenomenon that has received the stamp
truth (Burr,2003). Though knowledge is not a direct perception of reality because
different cultures have different perception of how the world is, this makes the
idea of truth problematic. All knowledge comes observing from one perspective or
another. Discourse, knowledge and practices are then related to power. Power is
influenced by particular world views which generate certain ways of acting and
marginalise others. For example, sexuality in the Victorian era was monitored,
classified and regulated and eventually sexuality was seen as taboo by some and
society became obsessed with policing it, then parents obsessed with preventing
child masturbation but as years have passed society s view on sexuality shifted and
now see sexuality as something important to our identity and there are professionals
who provide help for those who need it which suggests that Power isn t always about
repression but it also produces opportunities. Foucault studied the forms of power that
have dominated us through the years; the monarchical power, disciplinary power and
bio power. He suggest that society has no ordered development, no

Essay Effective Teaching Practices in the Writing Classroom
While I had thought initially to matriculate into the English Department, it seems to
be more heavily weighted toward theory than application, whereas the pedagogical
training that I consider necessary for teaching is available through ETAP. So I had
thought and so I wrote in my application for admission to the doctoral program. At
the same time, realizing that I still would need a solid grounding in my subject area
to teach composition and rhetoric, my goal for pursing a Ph.D., I co matriculated the
next semester into the English Department s M.A. program on the writing sequence.

This leaves my pressing question of What do I do in the writing classroom? like
an elf in the book bag. It accompanies me to and from class, peers up at me with
quizzical eyes whenever I reach for something and asks, hopefully, Will I get any
answers today? Each day I sadly reply, No, apparently not today and the elf sighs,
Well, perhaps tomorrow. But tomorrow never arrives, in accordance with the
axiom. A typical course sequence is one in which the greater part of the semester is
spent discussing theories and issues surrounding the teaching of writing, practice
and application are mentioned briefly or in passing, and at the end of the semester
students are charged with creating a writing class syllabus. That being the end of
the course, presumably students are now prepared to actually teach the course they
have designed. However, that most demanding educator experience has taught me
that this is not a good strategy. Despite spending an enormous amount of time
reading and compiling materials and resources for a class I agreed to teach, despite
having numerous discussions with peers about their experiences with teaching a
class along the lines of what I was developing, and despite doggedly writing,
revising and re revising the syllabus, I walked into my classroom unprepared for the
realities of it. I had cobbled together the class without supervision, without
International Student Immigration Studies
The United States have been hosting the largest number of international students
than any other country in the world. Enrollment of foreign students in US
universities increased rapidly from over 310 thousand in 1980 to over 880
thousand in 2013, with an average annual growth rate of 3.4% over the last three
decades citep{iie}. The growth in enrollment has been positive in all years except
in 2003 2005 during which strict visa application process was implemented

Apart from these, this study will examine whether foreign students influence teaching
performance of host universities as measured by their ``graduation premiums . We
will also analyze whether foreign students generate externality that affect the
performance of domestic students in completing their degrees in a timely manner.
We use the concept of industry wage premiums which measures how much more or
less relative to the average a given industry pays to its workers after controlling for
individual workers characteristics and other confounding factors. Methodologically,
the wage premium is estimated from a regression equation which defines the wage of
workers as a function of their observed characteristics, such as education, age,
experience and others, and industry dummy indicators. The coefficients of industry
indicators represent industry wage premiums. In our case we defined a ``graduations
equation which specify the number of degrees conferred in a given discipline and
university as a function of lagged enrollments and university indicators. The simple
rationale behind is that enrollment is that enrollment is an input in the education
process and graduation is an output. Coefficients of the university indicators capture
how many more or less degrees a department in a given
The Complete Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
There are certain countries that are ran through dictatorship, they abuse the power
they have to the country. In the story, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane
Satrapi, she changes the view towards Iran through occurrences and eastern
fundamentalist ideas. In 1979, there was the Islamic revolution in Iran. This year was
the year that was going to have many changes to the country. In chapter one of the
Veil, there are characters and their freedom of expression being repressed as well as
the movement of repression where the Iranians were repressed in public spaces and
by public figures.

Even the youngest women are resisting to wear the veil, and is a great example of
how western influence is victimizing women that are oppressed and are categorized
into a suppressive group by wearing the veil. Satrapi was stuck in two mind sets
which were the liberal minded world of her parents and her religiosity. Another
crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I really didn t know what to think
about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family we were very
modern and avant garde (6.1). Satrapi had an important role when this big change
happened. She was an individual who had a strong character as a child. Her family
sees being religious while not wearing a veil compatible, the government believes
the opposite. Satrapi foreshadows how at the end of the story she leaves Iran but
never escapes her homeland Iran.
The theme of repression is a never changing issue with Persepolis. The abuse of
power happens because there is a leader trying to run the country in a certain way.
Satrapi illustrates how Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by public
figures. Satrapies mom was on the newspapers, because a German journalist took a
photo of her (5). Her mom would hide most of the time, this was creating some sort
of discomfort for her, and obviously she was scared. She even had to dye her hair so
she wouldn t be recognizable. Satrapies mom, makes this a

Political issues on Student Loans As a student who has difficulties affording
increasingly high tuition in college, financial aid and student loans is one of the
biggest concerns for me. Even though with a low interest rate of student loans, it is
still hard to pay back the debt after graduation. As in recent years, the cost of
universities in America has rose to such a level that it has exceeded the rate of
inflation. (Walker) According to CNBC, America has more than $1.2 trillion of
student loan debt, what s more, about 10 million federal student loans are taken out
annually. (Orman) Face on such a huge threat to the economy, in the meanwhile,
recently there are some debates happening that has influenced the interest rate of
student loans. During recent years, the American government has been in charge of
lots of programs designed to assist students, such as providing student loans. In the
United States, there are two kinds of student loans. One is federal student loans and
the other one is called Private Loan. Federal Student loans also have three different
types, which are Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans and Perkins Loans. By giving student
loans, students will have the money they
Inequality In The 1960 s Papua New Guinea
Why is it that in the 1960 s Papua New Guinea was still using stone tools while
Eurasia had stronger and more improved steel tools? Inequality is all over the world.
Do we know what started it? Inequality isn t something that can happen overnight, it
takes thousands of years to develop. Geography is the biggest reason we have
inequality, depending where you re at on the latitude line controls your climate.
Europe s geographical location allowed their civilizations to have access to better
agriculture, domesticated animals, immunities to germs and steel. These early
advantages propelled Europe into an unprecedented position of power which allowed
them to control and decimate other cultures throughout the world.

With those weapons Eurasia was able to conquer and decimate less fortunate

a steady and reliable food source they were able to develop specialist. Specialists

Inca s lived at such high elevation without seasons they were unable to sustain a

Eurasia had more domesticated animals and grew wheat which provided for

carbon and iron create steel if they had a long burning fire. With the knowledge of
creating steel, specialists were able to learn how to forge steel to make weapons like
swords. Instead of having steel Incas had gold which lead to a gold deposit. By that

Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Miller probes the dream of Willy
Lowman while making a statement about the dreams of American society. This essay
will explore how each character of the play contributes to Willy s dream, success, and
failure.
Willy is the aging salesman whose imagination is much larger than his sales ability.
Willy s wife, Linda, stands by her husband even in his absence of realism. Biff and

But in the beautiful, ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their
sons destroyer. In her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream,
but while in her admiration for Willy her love is powerful and moving, in her
admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will
not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can be
fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context
of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that
involves denial of these values (Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s
lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the fire in the inferno of their dreams
and ambitions. She lets this whole masquerade continue right in front of her instead
of doing something to stop their out of control lies.
Also, Biff the oldest son, continues to search for his purpose in life. Due mainly to
all the hot air Willy always feeds him, Biff continues to stumble in his fight for life.
Biff has never had the ability to hold down a job very long due to his inability to
take orders and do his time in the trenches before becoming a success at a particular
job.
Richard J. Foster states, Biff, who in the play as an amplification or reflection of
Willy s problems, has

mind.
As we known, The Trump Organization runs a lot of business all around the US.
When Donald Trump moves into the White House, he ll be the most controversial
president in America history. After Trump is the president, his business interest is
related to the politic. But there is no law and rules that asks a president to split his
financial interests before he takes the president position. In past few period,
presidents got away from the business to avoid the conflicts. Trump has no way to
put his real estate empire aside. Obvious, he would involve his business into the
future politic policy.
Democrats aware this conflicts of the interest. But they can t call official hearings.
But they will keep the eyes on him. Also, if necessary, they can do investigations to
avoid the conflicts of the interest.
In addition, Trump is expressing an interest in a major infrastructure plan, equal pay
for women, and closing the interest tax rate. These acts could give him a benefits, but
they are good for the country. The infrastructure plan, such as highway, could
improve the people life. Tax plan keeps the money in our own pocket.

Milo contracted with the Germans to bomb all four of his squadrons wounding

own men and planes was more than even the most phlegmatic observer could
stomach and it looked like the end for him. (Heller 259). Every one was
completely disgusted with Milo s actions until he showed every one the profit that
he had made. He had made enough to reimburse the government and he made an

The Rights Opportunity Commission ( Eeoc )
Throughout History, the idea of equal opportunities and rights had and still is a
major issue amongst the people of the nation. Equal opportunities is defined as the
treatment of others equally without the discrimination of their sex, race or age.
Actions have been made to help prevent this from ever happening. In 1964,
Congress passed Public Law 88 352 (78 Stat. 241). This civil rights act forbade
discriminationbased on sex and race in hiring, promoting, and firing. ... Title VII of the
act created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission(EEOC) to implement
the law. Morris Dees acted upon this and as a lawyer for civil rights he helped
prove that due to physical and social differences, you still have an opportunity to
prove and have a say in the world. The want of equal opportunities by morris dees
and the people, helped trigger the creation of the SPLC. The SPLC and the ideas that
Morris Dees conveyed to the people created an opportunity of equality.
Background on Law s before Morris Dees Actions:
In the 1960s, Americans who knew the equal protection of the laws expected the
Congress, and the courts to achieve the promise of the 14th Amendment. The
amendment states the rights and equal protection of the laws created. All three
branches of the government and the public debated a constitutional question: Does
the Constitution s restriction of denying equal protection always ban the use of racial,
ethnic, or gender criteria in an attempt to bring social

Research shows that due to the greater frequency of PCI in various trials, Brilinta
was showed to have greater benefit over Plavix in NSTE ACS patients.
NSTE ACS blah blah and mention statistics and other sources. This research
involving current literature was conducted to determine if there is any difference in
antiplatelet therapy with Plavix, when compared to Brilinta. With this knowledge,
providers can be properly informed about choosing the best treatment for their
patients.
Methods:
In order to conduct this research paper, access was gained into the University of
Texas Rio Grande Valley library website (http://www.utpa.edu/library). Under the
heading of Articles and Databases , Pub Med was selected. Entering the key words
Brilinta , NSTE ACS and Brilinta vs Plavix this search was conducted. This search
was conducted on several separate occasions. Over 350 articles were returned with
these key words mentioned in the title.
After the initial search, about 35 journal readings had to be read thoroughly and
closely analyzed. From which, 10 of these journal articles were deemed pertinent to
this manuscript. These publications were then saved, printed, and re analyzed for key
information. All publications were chosen from reputable sources via online and only
pertinent information relating to this manuscript will be discussed.

The Presidential Candidate Of Education Reform
I for one believe Hillary Rodham Clinton is the best presidential candidate of
education reform in the 2016 election. Mrs. Clinton has an impeccable record on this
issue and consistently fought for the rights of all American s access to quality
education. Her crusade as a public servant for quality educationbegan thirty three
years ago in 1983.The Arkansasschool system ranked 50th in the nation. Mrs. Clinton
was appointed by Governor Bill Clintonto chair the Educational Standards
Committee, to recommend reforms. It is not an exaggeration to say the state s
educational system remains broken. TIME Magazine dubbed Arkansas the long time
Dogpatch of the nation s school system However, this crisis in education extended
from coast to coast. In pushing for higher standards, Mrs. Clinton stated, Our schools
are not doing as good as they must. While there may be many causes for our dilemma,
there is only one solution. We Arkansans have to quit making excuses and accept
instead the challenge of excellence once and for all. (ED Reform,2016) The newly
established committee solicited advice from the public, in all of Arkansas 75
counties. Following this extensive research, Mrs. Clinton came up with a
comprehensive set of regulations aimed at overhauling the state s failing education
system. The Education Standards committee s recommendations included: Upgrading
curriculum standards and course requirements. Increasing teacher salaries and
possible merit pay. Establishing a

Essay Discuss the Supernatural in Macbeth.
According to the Oxford Advanced Learner dictionary, `supernatural refers to things
that cannot be explained by natural or physical laws. The presence of supernatural
forces in Macbeth, provides for much of the play s dramatic tension and the mounting
suspense. In this paper we shall look at some of supernatural elements in the play.
We ll first talk about the witches. Thunder occurs every time when the witches show
up. In Act I sence i, it indicates the theme of discorder. When the witches enter, there
is stormy weather. The storm attends the three witches when they are gather to
express their exploits. They cast a spell that they are going to meet Macbeth. There to
meet with Macbeth. Also, thunder occurs at Act I scene iii, Act... Show more content

In Act I scene i, nature is out of order. Fair is foul and foul is fair. According to the
witches, it means good is bad and bad is good. It indicates that the witches are
violating God s natural order because it is against our normal understanding of the
words. The witches are evil in stead of being friends of humans.
This gives the audience a clue to what the future holds for Macbeth. When the
battle s lost and won (also in Act I scene i) was said by the second witch. It says that
every battle is lost by one side and won by another. Macbeth s fate is that he will win
the battle. However, he will lose his time of victory for the battle of his soul.
Another example is strong enough to indicate that the witches have supernatural
power. In Act I scene iii, when the first witch mentions she is refused by the sailor s
wife, she is so angry that she wants to take revenge.
I myself have all the other (winds),
And the very ports they blow,
All the quarters that they know
I m the shipman s card.
I will drain him dry as hay:
Sleep shall neither night nor day
Hang upon his pent house lid:
He shall live a man forbid:
Weary se nnights nine times nine
Shall he dwindle, peak and pine.
The punishment of the witches of human beings indicates that they have the
supernatural power to control nature. The revenge stirs up the witches to enforce
their power over nature that
Motown Essay
Motown
The Motown Museum in Detroit is truly a motivational part of America s history; it
stood for another way for African American voices to be heard on a much greater
scale both national and even world wide. Motown has become America s pop soul
music for anyone and everyone.
The birth of Motown music came to be in a small recording studio aptly named

borrowed money in order. The main stage of Motown music came from a small

Motown helped break down some racial barriers during this era. America during this
era was one of gross racial stereotypes. Motown forced America to confront its own
feelings about race, community, intolerance, justice and reality. Motown coincided
with the emergence of the civil rights movement and both were inextricably linked.
Motown was a type of prelude for Dr. Martin Luther King; it helped set the stage for
the major changes that were underway. Motown broke many of the traditional
stereotypes of African Americans. This music was the backbone for conversation,
particularly the young, and initiated an intense re examination of some prevalent
stereotypes. It was long overdue don t you think? My grandmother told me that when
she was growing up during the sixties she can remember her mother yelling at her to
turn off that nigger trash! , but my grandmother could ve cared less, she had friends
who were African American and there was nothing wrongful with listening to the
music, but things were different in New York, not much different but forgiving
enough to let children form their own opinions on the music and the artists behind it.
Barry Gordy s brainchild,, Hitsville, U.S.A. has brought us joy through this very day
with great artists hits, and inspirations. Through Motown African Americans were

Out Again
Not many people get to boast that they became an international and award winning
filmmaker at 14. Well, the film was only five minutes long. And by international I
mean America, Canada, and Australia. And the award was an audience favorite
award. But it is still an accomplishment many don t have.
In the summer after my freshman year of high school I applied to a film program
aimed at LGBTQ youth called Reel Queer Youth. The goal was to create a five
minute short film on aspects of LGBTQ life in seven days. It was actually only five
days after the media literacy workshops and technical training, so the timeline was
even shorter than expected. We picked our own groups, and I was only in a group

Pursuing A Career As A Personal Athletic Trainer
The Oxford Dictionary defines passion as a strong emotion or strong love for
something. Well then, I would say I am passionate about sports. To turn a passion
into a career you must take certain steps in education and to develop special skills
that are needed. I love to play sports, and I would like to pursue a career that lets
me have the opportunity to become anything from a player to a coach. As there are
many careers in the world, there is a career for anyone who has a passion. My
passion for sports gives me many opportunities to pursue a career. For example, I
can become a personal athletic trainer. I would have to focus on skills and abilities
that are safe and effective to improve athletics. I could also become a collegescouter. I
would have to travel to watch athletes play and evaluate their talents. Another career

Crack-Cocaine Addiction Essay examples
Crack Cocaine Addiction at It s Best
In quite a few lower class communities, phrases like your mom is a crack head, or
shut up crack baby are said jokingly to make fun of someone during what we call a
rip session. Although said as a joke, some are very offended by the comments.
Why? because for some, crack addiction hits too close to home for comfort. Seeing
how easy it is obtained in lower class and poverty stricken neighborhoods, many find
themselves falling victim to the powerful substance, crack cocaine. Low sociable
economic systems are just one of the many factors that can lead to the use, and
addiction of crack cocaine, others include movies, music, peer pressure, alcohol and

Because the first high is so pleasurable, many continue taking the drug in search of
the first high they experienced. They try taking larger and larger doses to recapture a
high that can never be obtained again.
Pretty soon they ll find themselves having to use crack just to feel normal again.
This is the physical dependency stage. It occurs when the user has built up such a
high tolerance from frequent usage, that their body basically forgets what is normal
so they have to maintain a continuum of the drug to ward of the withdraw effects.
As a result of usage, anxiety and depression can last for weeks. Attempts to stop
using the drugs can fail simply because the resulting depression can be
overwhelming, causing the addict to use more cocaine in an attempt to overcome his
depression. This is the point in which you get the more stereotypical crack addict.
They begin to steal from their family and friends, miss work/school, prostitute, and
do just about anything they can to get the money to support their habit. They begin to
short or try to get over on the person who is selling them drugs, which can result in
violence. Some even become drug dealers themselves so that they can pay for the
drugs that they use.
The final stage of addiction is the deteriorative stage. This is basically the stage in
which the user has nothing left. They may be homeless because they ve spent all
their money on crack so they were unable to keep up
The Transition Times. Graduation Is One Example Of A

The Transition Times Graduation is one example of a time of celebration and
honor. It is the reward you receive for multiple years of difficult work and
perseverance. It is also an extremely bittersweet occasion because often times you
are required to make difficult decisions. Decisions that could take you away from
everyone and everything you have ever known. This is known as a timeof transition.
Honestly, it seems a bit anticlimactic that after all the emotions and preparation you

During high school you form both positive and negative relationships with people
and learn a various assortment of life lessons. If I challenged myself to choose my
top three picks on what life lessons I have learned I would say freedom,
responsibility, and tolerance. I say that I have learned the lesson of freedom
simply owing to the fact that this was my first taste of freedom. When you receive
your driver s license and car or you are able to date for the first time you feel the
absolutely exhilarating unbridled feeling of freedom. This feeling blossoms and
flourishes for only a moment, because then it has company. Freedom is joined by the
always rational and logical emotion responsibility. Responsibility is like the
notification that forces you to go home in time for your curfew or the friend you
forces you to stop at the stop sign or to not drink and drive. When freedom and
responsibility work together, you are safe and you also have a great time growing
up. When the two emotions combine together your chances of living to adulthood
increase dramatically. The last life lesson I chose is most definitely not the least
important. I have become more tolerant of not only people and their decisions but
also with circumstances. This was not only the most difficult lesson I have had to
learn, but it is the lesson that I am most thankful for due to the fact that I know that I
will use it more and more frequently as I enter into the real world .
Examples Of Gender Reality In Hinduism
A Bias Gender Reality in Hinduism
There is no chance of the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is

The religion of Hinduism originated in the country of India billions of years ago.
The Hindu religion has many gods that are the reasoning for any and everything.
There are many characteristics of the gods in this case, one of which being that there
is no specific gender given to the gods. Therefore, one refers to the gods as mother,
father god. This too shall support the evidence that both male and female should have
equal rights in Hinduism. For instance, the god Krishna is one of the most well known
male gods in Hinduism. Krishna is commonly depicted in a female stature with blue
skin while playing a flute. He is also commonly illustrated as a child eating butter.

For instance, the burning of brides is a common issue that takes place. When a
female does not meet the requests of her demanding husband she may suffer by
being publicly burned alive for everyone to see. This is a rather crude way to treat
the wife, but in the eyes of many Hindu husbands they must suffer the
consequences. The common problem for such a drastic result is often the offspring
that the wife produces. The demand of a male offspring is of high request. More
commonly the child is brutally injured or murdered. Many Hindu texts discuss the
significance of the Hindu women and their values. Yet, many of their important
factors are not often taken heed of. By analyzing sacred text, you will then see that
there was equality of the male and female gods and goddesses. This brings about the
curiosity as to why females are treated so

How Is Queen Elizabeth A Good Leader
Queen Elizabeth the first, was the queen of England for almost 50 years in the
1500s. She was a very interesting person with a huge variety of characteristics. She
was cunning, but kind, very smart, and also manipulative. During her reign she
had many major accomplishments; she restored the church of England, soothed
tensions between England and France, she was also a patron of the arts. She had
many accomplishments because she was a strong leader who had many leadership
qualities. First of all she had courage, she did many things people did not agree
with. For example, she decided she was not going to get married; and during her
life it was common and almost expected to be married especially as a queen. Queen
Elizabeth the first was bright, she was quick witted, intelligent and articulate. She
surrounded herself with skilled advisors and defuses many potential crises. And

the novel, Rufus questions his mother s and his aunt s faith in God. Whenever the
women give him religious explanations, Rufus questions them tirelessly, wanting an
answer that makes logical sense. A notable instance of this questioning is just after his

God has taken their father. Rufus must ask if his father is dead; the word dead has an
absolute meaning for him that her religious explanation does not. When his aunt tells
Rufus and Catherine the facts surrounding their father s murder, Rufus says that if the
concussion killed his father, then it was not God that killed him. Rufus cannot

Roger Chillingworth Character Analysis
Characters to People Appearance is representative of a character s current state
development along their journey of either growing as a person, or falling back into
more feral tendencies that ultimately destroy their body, soul, or both. Despite what
a character may express to the outside world, their appearance and actions delivers a
relatable context of their hidden motives and well being thus imbuing them with
human life. The outward appearance of Roger Chillingworth is one of the most
distinct in the entire novel, even going as far as giving a glance into his future.
When first introduced to Chillingworth, he is a quiet astute individual that is
described multiple times as inquisitive and observant, traits that are red flags for a
character searching for something. The work of Bethany Reid within, Narrative of
the Captivity and Redemption of Roger Prynne , reveals similar sentiment. She starts
her observation by noting, [In] Our first view of Roger Chillingworth... what we first
observe about him underscores his mutable nature. (Reid, 46). Roger s nature starting
off the story in this fashion is consistent to his inner motives; he simply wishes to
learn more about Hester and her whereabouts. On the same page, however, it is noted
that he has a slight hunch in his shoulders, a disfigurement of sorts. This
disfigurement is our first clue into his future involvement in the conflict of the story
as he becomes more and more disfigured within. Roger Chillingworth s

There is another major reason may explain why events have become an
increasingly important of inner urban competition attract by event attendee and
visitors in the last few years is the cost of building a city landmark (Paddison,

encouraged to visit the same place more than one time by hosting different events at
the landmark area for visitors interests of exploring the new culture. They usually
represent a less costly to distinguish places and normally generates a significant
media interests (Paddison, 1993). The consequence is the cities are competing with
each other for the honour of hosing large events to promote themselves to a greater

Since tourism is one of the largest multination economy activities (Friedman, 1994).
To compete in a globe marketplace require hosts abilities of good responds to a

Data On Student Learning And Development Of Students
PART II: CONTENTS
Chapter 1: Literature review
1.1. Assessment
In education, the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that
educators use to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning
progress, skill acquisition, or educational needs of students.
Assessment involves the use of empirical data on student learning to refine programs
and improve student learning. (Assessing Academic Programs in Higher Education by
Allen 2004)
Assessment is the process of gathering and discussing information from multiple and

(Assessment Essentials: planning, implementing, and improving assessment in
higher education by Palomba and Banta 1999)
Assessment can be used for different purposes in education. This is reflected in
Wiggins and McTighe s (2005) definition of assessment as the act of determining the
extent to which the desired results are on the way to being achieved and to what
extent they have been achieved . Even in this simple definition, two different
purposes are identified: looking at results as completed and looking at results as in
process.
Assessment is commonly divided into two types that relate to these two purposes:
summative and formative assessment (Chappuis Chappuis, 2008). Summative
assessment is designed primarily to document what students know, that is, what has
been achieved in the instructional endeavor. This is how assessment has been most
often used, as the processes of evaluating the effectiveness of a sequence of
instructional activities when the sequence was completed (Wiliam, 2011, p. 3).
Formative assessment is designed primarily to deliver information during the
instructional process to help make decisions about what actions will promote further
learning (Chappuis Chappuis, 2008). This distinction has been referred to by Stiggins
(2002) as assessment of learning (i.e., summative) versus assessment for learning (i.e.,
formative). It should be noted that Newton (2007) suggested three purposes for the
use of assessment: judgment,

varied on ages, level income, and job. Thus, to base on data of annual financial
statement of Target and Walmart is important to analysis and determine the
advantages and disadvantages which they are on their business activities. Firstly, the
current ratio is used to determine the short term to pay its maturing obligation and to
have unexpected needs for cash. The current ratio s formular is, current assets divided
by current liabilities. According to Target 10 K Annual Financial Statement report,

Moreover, it also shows the liquity of inventory by calculating the times when the
average turnover in annual year. The formula of inventory turnover is calculated
as cost of good sold dived by average inventory. The cost of good of Target increases
from $51278 million in 2015 to$ 51997 million in 2016. It means that the prices
for supplies increases or is concerned with decrease revenue. The average inventory
is calculated by data on inventory in 2015 and 2016 which is $ 8695.5 million. So,
when people apply above data of Target, they get the result which equals 6.05 times.
On the other hand, the cost of goods sold of Walmart also increases from $ 360984
million in 2016 to $ 361256 million in 2017. Thus, the good and supplies increase at
this poin in Target and Walmart business operating. The Walmart inventory $44469
million in 2016 and $43046 in 2017; the average inventory is $43757.5 million.
When people base on the above formula, they can calculate the inventory turnover
which is 8.39 times. Thus, Walmart turns its inventory more effective than Target
because Walmart has a higher inventory turnover than Target. Moreover, it shows that
Walmart keeps inventory on hand which is less than Taget. It is advantage of
Walmart because a lot of goods include electronic devices, clothes, and food which
need to sell in certain time. When the company keeps them like inventory in a long
Becoming A Summer Camp Counselor Essay
Becoming a summer camp counselor was one of the best decisions I have ever
made. I was a camper for 10 years and the transition to counselor felt like a natural
step forward. Even though I loved my job and the campers I spent my time with, it
was far from easy. I was responsible for 10 to 30 children, 24 hours a day, and
planned many of the activities the campers participated in. I was placed in this
leadershipposition, but without the other 40 staff members, I would not have had a
successful summer. Our team communicated well, relied on each other for support,
and talked through any issues that arose.
There were many tough situations at camp and many days where I was mentally and
physically exhausted. Being able to rely on the team and being
Reflection On Career Development
A.This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson
encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets,
and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career
exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential
future careerpaths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I
addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and
obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and
success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post
secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision
making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing
so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to
them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources
in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not
expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is
never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in
order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit
touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This
lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well
as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students
to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self
esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses
academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic
success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being
academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post
high school graduation.
B.In today s world, I feel as though it is very important to incorporate technology
into lesson plans. Technology helps keep children engaged and we are now living in
a world where technology is all around us. I was able to

Persuasive Essay About Life After College
Finding Home What do you want to do after graduation? is a pretty common
question that the students in Class of 2018 seem to hear on a daily basis. Some
students know exactly what their plans are, while others have no idea. Being one
who has known what my post high school plans are for quite some time and knowing
that I want to earn a Strategic Communications degree from OhioUniversity, I am
able to begin thinking about life after college. One of the biggest decisions a
person will need to make almost immediately after college is deciding where to
start their life. I have thought about staying in Findlay, my hometown, but have
also really contemplated moving to Cleveland or one of its surrounding suburbs.
While both Findlay and Cleveland are great places to live, finding a job and
settling down in Findlay, rather than residing in the Cleveland area, is the better
option for me because of the opportunities it offers. Coming back to Findlay after
graduating from college is the most ethical choice for me because of the jobs the
town has to offer. With a Strategic Communications degree, one living in the Findlay
area can get a job working as a Recruiting Specialist at Automatic Data Processing s
Recruitment Process Outsourcing office, as an Investor Relations Manager at
Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, or as the director of Visit Findlay, the city
and
county s Convention and Visitors Bureau, once the position opens up (
Communications Jobs in Findlay, OH ). Along with the
Essay On Prescription Drug Abuse
Prescription drug abuse is the use of prescribed medications for reasons other than
intended by a doctor or medical professional. Prescription drug abuse involves the
misuse of any and all drugs to alter the physical or mental status of a person. The
misuse of prescription drugs is described as taking excess amounts, more frequently,
or for much longer than originally prescribed. Prescription drugs come in different
forms and treat many different illnesses and diseases. Different drugs fall into
different groups and can produce different highs when they are abused. Every drug
falls into one of four groups. One of the four groups is opiods. Opiods are basically
painkillers, they attach to tiny parts of your brain to relieve pain. Common examples
of opiods are oxycodone, methadone, hydrocodone, and codeine. Because demand
and use of painkillers is high it s easy to see why opiods are the most commonly
abused class. Sedatives are another class of drugs. Commonly abused sedatives are
phenobarbital, methaqualone, clonazepam, and alprazolam. Sedatives are usually
used to treat symptoms of insomnia, anxiety, and panic disorders. When abused,
sedatives offer a more relaxed, chilled type... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America are helping to combat
prescription drug abuse by spreading awareness and knowledge of these drugs. The
National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse is another organization that s
helping the fight. The NCAPD is a group of individuals that have focused all their
attention towards the prevention and awareness of addiction and misuse of prescribed
medications. They have many sponsors and host events to help their efforts.
Narconon is another organization that hopes to relieve the issue by directly helping
users overcome their addiction. It s a rehabilitation center that offers help to anyone

Gail Carson Levine s Ella Enchanted
For Summer Reading, I read Ella Enchanted. Ella Enchanted is based off of the
story of Cinderella mostly towards the end. The book has fairies, magic, glass
slippers, and even the pumpkin carriage just like in Cinderella! Ella s name came
from the end of the name Cinderella. The Cinder part is supposed to mean dirty or
uncleansed. I have come to find out that Cinderellas real name is Ella, but her
stepmother called her Cinderella as an insult. That is how the author, Gail Carson
Levine, came up with her name.
Gail Carson Levine was born on September 17, 1947, which makes her 68 years of
age. She writes young adult literature. Levine was born and raised in New York
City, New York. Her books always include magic and mythical creatures. After
reading the book, I found that it probably takes place around the medieval time
period because there are many princes and princesses. The genre is Fantasy. I
realized this when Levine brought up all of the magic, fairies, elves, and ogres. The
author uses allusions, epiphanies, and similes in the story. She uses an allusion when
she writes the book and makes it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I didn t know what was going to happen! Ella Enchanted relates to the real world
because in the real world, you are able to control your own destiny. In Ella
Enchanted she breaks the curse so she can control her own destiny without others
controlling it for her. I would definitely recommend this novel. I like the magic and
the fairies, but most of all, I love the storyline! There are so many twists and turns
that make you laugh and cry.
I thought Ella Enchanted was a good book. My favorite part was when Char and
Ella started writing to each other. My favorite character over all was Prince
Charmont. He was always in love with Ella no matter what happened. They are the
perfect couple. I would recommend this book because you really get sucked into it
and you feel like you re in the story when you read
Education System of Great Britain, Usa and Australia
Education in Great Britain is divided into four areas. England and Wales have the
same education system, unlike Northern Ireland and Scotland whos education
system are different. In England and Wales education system consists of primary,
secondary, further and higher education. Compulsory education last for 11 years
and children are legally required to start attending school after their fifth birthday
(or earlier) and finish it somewhere at the age of 16. Most pupils transfer from
primary school to secondary school at age of 11 or 12. There is also middle schools
system in which students are transferred from primary school at the age of 8 or 9,
then onto secondary schools at the age of 12 or 13. In Scotland, compulsory school

In Great Britain, the most common thing students to after obtaining GCSE is staying
in school or attending college for a two year A level course. A levels are most
commonly studied between the ages 16 18. Completing 3 or 4 A levels allows
students to continue their education by applying for degree courses at universities and
with that gaining higher education. There is a similar situation in USA for students
who finished secondary education by obtaining highschool diploma and would
like to attend college or university. To achieve that, USA students have to attend
undergraduate schools that offer either a two year degree also known as associate
degree or a four year degree called bachelors degree in a specific course of study
called major. Students who finished four year degree program and gained
bachelors degree can continue their education in graduate schools. There they can
pursue one of two types of diplomas. The first one is called master s degree and it
usually takes two years of study after which you are considered to be highly
specialized in a specific field. The second type of diploma available for students who
have bachelors degree is PhD or a doctorate degree which usually takes 3 6 years to
complete.
In Australia, students who want to continue their education can go either to TAFE
(Technical and Further Education) institutions or they can finish senior high school
level studies (years 11 and 12 of education ) and obtain VCE ( Victorian
The Beliefs Of Colossions And The Nicene Creed
According the dictionary.com the word creed oringinates from the old English
word credo meaning, an article or statement of Christian beliefs which eventually
broadens to any statement in which I believe . This creed is not the basis of
teaching, rather it supports the sound doctrine of the Bible, where we will
specifically be focusing on Colossians 1:15 20. The Nicene Creeddefends TRUE
Christian faith by fully clarifying the deity of Christ, thus safeguarding the apostles
teachings. We will be exploring how Colossions and the Nicene creed work together
and their differences.
The Nicene Creed says that through Christ all things were made, including heaven
and earth and all that is, seen and unseen comparing to Colossians 1:16: In him all
things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible . The
comparison is EXACT however I feel like we can elaborate more on scripture since it
s probably the basis for the creed. In verse 16 JESUS Christ is supreme over all of
creation because He is the creator of it all! Paul leaves nothing out as to not be
mistaken. GOD created ALL THINGS in HEAVEN and EARTH. All three
Heavens, distant worlds, people, animals, places, things. Every last detail was
created by GOD and the creed agrees fully with this fact. Pauls s mention of
thrones, dominions, principalities or powers may refer to four classes of angelic
beings. God made them too however this may be more of a corrective against false
teachings promoting the worship of angels. In order to understand this we must
dig deeper to that in which it s referring. This is a direct warning; Colossians 2:18
says, Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and
worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not see, vainly puffed up
by his fleshly mind, Here the word cheat comes from an athletic arena where an
athlete would be disqualified if he was caught cheating thus those who practice
spiritual disciplines brought on by false teachers also face the threat of being thrown
out of the game . False humility, in this case, probably refers to taking delight in the
harsh treatment of the body, self harm and or humiliation. Finally, the worship of
angles refers

  • 1. Film Essays Writing an essay on the subject of "Film Essays" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the topic but also in the need to balance subjective interpretation with objective analysis. Films are a complex art form, encompassing elements of visual storytelling, cinematography, sound design, and thematic depth. Crafting an essay requires a deep understanding of these components and the ability to articulate one's thoughts coherently. One of the challenges is navigating the fine line between personal interpretation and scholarly analysis. While it's essential to express one's subjective experience of a film, a film essay should also delve into the broader context, considering the director's intent, cultural influences, and the historical backdrop. Striking the right balance requires a nuanced approach, and it's easy to veer into overly personal reflections or overly academic language. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the film industry adds another layer of complexity. New releases, emerging directors, and evolving cinematic trends constantly reshape the landscape. Staying current with the latest developments while maintaining a timeless perspective on classic films is no small feat. Additionally, research is crucial. A well-rounded film essay demands extensive knowledge of film theory, history, and critical approaches. This involves reading scholarly articles, watching films with a discerning eye, and keeping up with academic discourse on cinema. Despite the challenges, writing a film essay can be immensely rewarding. It allows for a deep exploration of one's passion for cinema and offers an opportunity to engage with a diverse range of ideas. The process of articulating thoughts on film enhances critical thinking skills and fosters a deeper appreciation for the art form. In conclusion, tackling the subject of "Film Essays" involves navigating the complexities of cinematic art, balancing subjective experiences with objective analysis, staying current with industry trends, and conducting thorough research. The challenge lies in synthesizing these elements into a cohesive and insightful essay that not only reflects the writer's perspective but also contributes meaningfully to the broader discourse on film. • 2. The Tipping Point By Malcom Gladwell In The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell, Gladwell discusses how ideas are spread as a result of social epidemics. Through his concepts of The Law of the Few, The Stickiness Factor, and The Power of Context, we can examine how certain sticky trends spread through our society. The trend I will be examining now is the current manbun epidemic. The so called man bun came to be the latest fashion trend for men due in part to the internet and to other factors as discussed in Gladwell s The Tipping Point. 2015 was a year of many different trends spreading throughout society, but arguably none more polarizing than that of the man bun. Men growing their hair out long is nothing new, but 2015 was populated with men of all ages pulling their hair into buns at the top of their head. We have now reached a point in history where a Google search for man bun will reveal headlines such as Official Site for Manbuns and Long Hair or Am I Man Enough for a Man Bun? , and advertisements for Clip On Instant Man Bun. How did we get to this point? A few years prior to this and such a search may have revealed nothing more than an ironic desert recipe. How did our society get to this point, then? According to Gladwell, trends like this that become popular overnight due to their ability to spread like the flu. Such trends can be labeled social epidemics and Gladwell uses three rules to describe their ability to spread so rapidly. The first rule Gladwell describes is termed The Law of

Kurt Cobain Essay Kelsey West 000399739 46592 11 November 2015 Essay #4 Performer: Nirvana Performer s Lifespan: 1987 1994 Location: Seattle (Aberdeen), Washington Band Members: Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic Bio: Childhood friends Kurt Cobain and Dave Krist Novoselic originally formed the group in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. They didn t really hit the scene, however, until the release of their first album, Bleach, in 1989. The record sold several thousand copies and was pretty successful for being produced for only $600. In 1990, Dave Grohl who, according to the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, is an experienced member of the Washington DC punk rock scene replaced the group s drummer. It was this trio that became so popular in the early 1990s and remains well known today. With his furious screams and lethargic grumbles the style of Kurt Cobain s voice really makes the band s sound original (Encyclopedia of Popular Music). A great example of this style is the hit Smells Like Teen Spirit from their most popular album Nevermind. Following the success of this album, Cobain began to struggle with the lack of appreciation for his social commentary through music, keeping a very hostile view toward his fame. I couldn t run through all the various animals we had, so I sprinted around the menagerie. Half way across, I heard the laborious bay of an ox. It s probably giving birth, I thought to myself. Just as I rounded the herd, I saw my father and cousin, who was more a like another brother, besides what it looked to be an ox giving birth. Who knew, right? As I walked over to the scene, my dad waved me over impatiently. I moved at a faster pace, but it was a wary pace. I m always nervous about birth and knew that it was a painful, yet rewarding process. How bad is it, I asked. it is bloody? Of course it is, pothoc, my cousin, Gresh, said annoyed. Like I said, another brother. Well, I didn t know. They re sometimes not that bad, I replied oblivious to his annoyance. Exactly, which is why you re going to pull this calfout, Dad said. What. He said it like it nothing new. Excuse me, I don t think I heard you right. I m pulling that out of that, I said aghast as I pointed at the hindquarters of the ox. Yes, now get on your knees and get your hands in there, Dad replied. besides, you haven t done it yet and your seventeen summers in now. You ll have to do this when I m dead and gone, now get to it. Foucault sees the current state of the society as a system of domination, while Baudrillard says that the society we knew has collapsed in to a world of images produced by the mass media. Both of them focus on the cultural dimension of the progression of the society and sees society as having moved on from modernity. Though both have different views when it comes to Power, Foucault focuses on the changing nature of power and the historical circumstances which assist the rise of specific discourses while Bauldrillard on the other hand says that power is a mere product of images, signs, and simulacra generated by the mass mediawhich makes it not real.... Forms of knowledge are linked to discourses, knowledge simple refers to the particular construction or version of a phenomenon that has received the stamp truth (Burr,2003). Though knowledge is not a direct perception of reality because different cultures have different perception of how the world is, this makes the idea of truth problematic. All knowledge comes observing from one perspective or another. Discourse, knowledge and practices are then related to power. Power is influenced by particular world views which generate certain ways of acting and marginalise others. For example, sexuality in the Victorian era was monitored, classified and regulated and eventually sexuality was seen as taboo by some and society became obsessed with policing it, then parents obsessed with preventing child masturbation but as years have passed society s view on sexuality shifted and now see sexuality as something important to our identity and there are professionals who provide help for those who need it which suggests that Power isn t always about repression but it also produces opportunities. Foucault studied the forms of power that have dominated us through the years; the monarchical power, disciplinary power and bio power. He suggest that society has no ordered development, no

Essay Effective Teaching Practices in the Writing Classroom While I had thought initially to matriculate into the English Department, it seems to be more heavily weighted toward theory than application, whereas the pedagogical training that I consider necessary for teaching is available through ETAP. So I had thought and so I wrote in my application for admission to the doctoral program. At the same time, realizing that I still would need a solid grounding in my subject area to teach composition and rhetoric, my goal for pursing a Ph.D., I co matriculated the next semester into the English Department s M.A. program on the writing sequence. This leaves my pressing question of What do I do in the writing classroom? like an elf in the book bag. It accompanies me to and from class, peers up at me with quizzical eyes whenever I reach for something and asks, hopefully, Will I get any answers today? Each day I sadly reply, No, apparently not today and the elf sighs, Well, perhaps tomorrow. But tomorrow never arrives, in accordance with the axiom. A typical course sequence is one in which the greater part of the semester is spent discussing theories and issues surrounding the teaching of writing, practice and application are mentioned briefly or in passing, and at the end of the semester students are charged with creating a writing class syllabus. That being the end of the course, presumably students are now prepared to actually teach the course they have designed. However, that most demanding educator experience has taught me that this is not a good strategy. Despite spending an enormous amount of time reading and compiling materials and resources for a class I agreed to teach, despite having numerous discussions with peers about their experiences with teaching a class along the lines of what I was developing, and despite doggedly writing, revising and re revising the syllabus, I walked into my classroom unprepared for the realities of it. I had cobbled together the class without supervision, without

Apart from these, this study will examine whether foreign students influence teaching performance of host universities as measured by their ``graduation premiums . We will also analyze whether foreign students generate externality that affect the performance of domestic students in completing their degrees in a timely manner. We use the concept of industry wage premiums which measures how much more or less relative to the average a given industry pays to its workers after controlling for individual workers characteristics and other confounding factors. Methodologically, the wage premium is estimated from a regression equation which defines the wage of workers as a function of their observed characteristics, such as education, age, experience and others, and industry dummy indicators. The coefficients of industry indicators represent industry wage premiums. In our case we defined a ``graduations equation which specify the number of degrees conferred in a given discipline and university as a function of lagged enrollments and university indicators. The simple rationale behind is that enrollment is that enrollment is an input in the education process and graduation is an output. Coefficients of the university indicators capture how many more or less degrees a department in a given

Another crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I really didn t know what to think about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family we were very modern and avant garde (6.1). Satrapi had an important role when this big change happened. She was an individual who had a strong character as a child. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can be fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these values (Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the fire in the inferno of their dreams and ambitions. Equal opportunities is defined as the treatment of others equally without the discrimination of their sex, race or age. Actions have been made to help prevent this from ever happening. In 1964, Congress passed Public Law 88 352 (78 Stat. 241). This civil rights act forbade discriminationbased on sex and race in hiring, promoting, and firing. ... Title VII of the act created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission(EEOC) to implement the law. The witches are evil in stead of being friends of humans. This gives the audience a clue to what the future holds for Macbeth. When the battle s lost and won (also in Act I scene i) was said by the second witch. It says that every battle is lost by one side and won by another. Macbeth s fate is that he will win the battle. However, he will lose his time of victory for the battle of his soul. Another example is strong enough to indicate that the witches have supernatural power. In Act I scene iii, when the first witch mentions she is refused by the sailor s wife, she is so angry that she wants to take revenge. I myself have all the other (winds), And the very ports they blow, All the quarters that they know I m the shipman s card. Even in this simple definition, two different purposes are identified: looking at results as completed and looking at results as in process. Assessment is commonly divided into two types that relate to these two purposes: summative and formative assessment (Chappuis Chappuis, 2008). I was a camper for 10 years and the transition to counselor felt like a natural step forward. Even though I loved my job and the campers I spent my time with, it was far from easy. I was responsible for 10 to 30 children, 24 hours a day, and planned many of the activities the campers participated in. I was placed in this leadershipposition, but without the other 40 staff members, I would not have had a successful summer. Our team communicated well, relied on each other for support, and talked through any issues that arose. There were many tough situations at camp and many days where I was mentally and physically exhausted. Being able to rely on the team and being
  • 42. Reflection On Career Development A.This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential future careerpaths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school graduation. B.In today s world, I feel as though it is very important to incorporate technology into lesson plans. Technology helps keep children engaged and we are now living in a world where technology is all around us. I was able to

  • 44. Persuasive Essay About Life After College Finding Home What do you want to do after graduation? is a pretty common question that the students in Class of 2018 seem to hear on a daily basis. Some students know exactly what their plans are, while others have no idea. Being one who has known what my post high school plans are for quite some time and knowing that I want to earn a Strategic Communications degree from OhioUniversity, I am able to begin thinking about life after college. One of the biggest decisions a person will need to make almost immediately after college is deciding where to start their life. I have thought about staying in Findlay, my hometown, but have also really contemplated moving to Cleveland or one of its surrounding suburbs. While both Findlay and Cleveland are great places to live, finding a job and settling down in Findlay, rather than residing in the Cleveland area, is the better option for me because of the opportunities it offers. Coming back to Findlay after graduating from college is the most ethical choice for me because of the jobs the town has to offer. With a Strategic Communications degree, one living in the Findlay area can get a job working as a Recruiting Specialist at Automatic Data Processing s Recruitment Process Outsourcing office, as an Investor Relations Manager at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, or as the director of Visit Findlay, the city and county s Convention and Visitors Bureau, once the position opens up ( Communications Jobs in Findlay, OH ). Along with the

Prescription drug abuse involves the misuse of any and all drugs to alter the physical or mental status of a person. The misuse of prescription drugs is described as taking excess amounts, more frequently, or for much longer than originally prescribed. Prescription drugs come in different forms and treat many different illnesses and diseases. Different drugs fall into different groups and can produce different highs when they are abused. Every drug falls into one of four groups. One of the four groups is opiods. Opiods are basically painkillers, they attach to tiny parts of your brain to relieve pain. Common examples of opiods are oxycodone, methadone, hydrocodone, and codeine. Because demand and use of painkillers is high it s easy to see why opiods are the most commonly abused class. Sedatives are another class of drugs. Commonly abused sedatives are phenobarbital, methaqualone, clonazepam, and alprazolam. Sedatives are usually used to treat symptoms of insomnia, anxiety, and panic disorders. When abused, sedatives offer a more relaxed, chilled type... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 46. Gail Carson Levine s Ella Enchanted For Summer Reading, I read Ella Enchanted. Ella Enchanted is based off of the story of Cinderella mostly towards the end. The book has fairies, magic, glass slippers, and even the pumpkin carriage just like in Cinderella! Ella s name came from the end of the name Cinderella. The Cinder part is supposed to mean dirty or uncleansed. I have come to find out that Cinderellas real name is Ella, but her stepmother called her Cinderella as an insult. That is how the author, Gail Carson Levine, came up with her name. Gail Carson Levine was born on September 17, 1947, which makes her 68 years of age. She writes young adult literature. Levine was born and raised in New York City, New York. Her books always include magic and mythical creatures. After reading the book, I found that it probably takes place around the medieval time period because there are many princes and princesses. The genre is Fantasy. I realized this when Levine brought up all of the magic, fairies, elves, and ogres. The author uses allusions, epiphanies, and similes in the story. I like the magic and the fairies, but most of all, I love the storyline! There are so many twists and turns that make you laugh and cry. I thought Ella Enchanted was a good book. My favorite part was when Char and Ella started writing to each other. My favorite character over all was Prince Charmont. He was always in love with Ella no matter what happened. They are the perfect couple. I would recommend this book because you really get sucked into it and you feel like you re in the story when you read

In Great Britain, the most common thing students to after obtaining GCSE is staying in school or attending college for a two year A level course. A levels are most commonly studied between the ages 16 18. Completing 3 or 4 A levels allows students to continue their education by applying for degree courses at universities and with that gaining higher education. There is a similar situation in USA for students who finished secondary education by obtaining highschool diploma and would like to attend college or university. To achieve that, USA students have to attend undergraduate schools that offer either a two year degree also known as associate degree or a four year degree called bachelors degree in a specific course of study called major. Students who finished four year degree program and gained bachelors degree can continue their education in graduate schools. There they can pursue one of two types of diplomas. The first one is called master s degree and it usually takes two years of study after which you are considered to be highly specialized in a specific field. The second type of diploma available for students who have bachelors degree is PhD or a doctorate degree which usually takes 3 6 years to complete. In Australia, students who want to continue their education can go either to TAFE (Technical and Further Education) institutions or they can finish senior high school level studies (years 11 and 12 of education ) and obtain VCE ( Victorian
  • 48. The Beliefs Of Colossions And The Nicene Creed According the dictionary.com the word creed oringinates from the old English word credo meaning, an article or statement of Christian beliefs which eventually broadens to any statement in which I believe . This creed is not the basis of teaching, rather it supports the sound doctrine of the Bible, where we will specifically be focusing on Colossians 1:15 20. The Nicene Creeddefends TRUE Christian faith by fully clarifying the deity of Christ, thus safeguarding the apostles teachings. We will be exploring how Colossions and the Nicene creed work together and their differences. The Nicene Creed says that through Christ all things were made, including heaven and earth and all that is, seen and unseen comparing to Colossians 1:16: In him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible . The comparison is EXACT however I feel like we can elaborate more on scripture since it s probably the basis for the creed. In verse 16 JESUS Christ is supreme over all of creation because He is the creator of it all! Paul leaves nothing out as to not be mistaken. GOD created ALL THINGS in HEAVEN and EARTH. All three Heavens, distant worlds, people, animals, places, things. Every last detail was created by GOD and the creed agrees fully with this fact. Pauls s mention of thrones, dominions, principalities or powers may refer to four classes of angelic beings. God made them too however this may be more of a corrective against false teachings promoting the worship of angels. In order to understand this we must dig deeper to that in which it s referring. This is a direct warning; Colossians 2:18 says, Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not see, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, Here the word cheat comes from an athletic arena where an athlete would be disqualified if he was caught cheating thus those who practice spiritual disciplines brought on by false teachers also face the threat of being thrown out of the game . False humility, in this case, probably refers to taking delight in the harsh treatment of the body, self harm and or humiliation. Finally, the worship of angles refers
