Analysis Of Gibson s `` Television Special `` Polygamy On...
Gibson (2010) also frames polygamy in the context of women struggles and not being able to
control their own lives. Gibson gives his opinion on polygamy and how it violates the Christian
family. Gibson (2010) argues that polygamy came about because of systematic patriarchy. Gibson
gives information on Anderson Cooper s television special Polygamyin America, Cult or Calling?
which discusses the capture of polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. Gibson (2010) explains how
America s recent fascination with polygamy only covers one aspect of it referring to the main
coverage of modern day Mormon polygamy. The researcher also gives information on the change
of polygamous relationships over time. Gibson (2010) reflects that in modern day polygamous
marriages people are able to pick their spouses. Women are actually enjoying being in a
polygamous marriage instead of being forced into it.
Simpson (2007) elaborates on the culture and faith of most polygamous. The author states that the
history of Mormonism has involved to highly complex contacts and negotiations with non
Mormons in their attempts to convert, resist, or appease outsiders. Mormons have engaged in a
distinctive dialectic of secrecy and self disclosure. (p.11) In some cases, Simpson (2007) suggests
Mormons feel they are being forced to be modernized. Non Mormons in the Utah territory and the
United States saw Utah s acceptance of Mormonism and women as a shameful attempt to solidify
the church s political power.

Canadian Nuclear Weapons Program And The Current Policy...
Canada currently does not, nor have they ever indicated at creating a nuclear weapons program,
this is due to their status as a non nuclear weapon state by the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of
Nuclear Weapons, as well as the reliance on the United States for nuclear defense. The following
paper will detail Canadian nuclear energy and weapons policy, beginning with a description of
their nuclear program. The next section will discuss the reasons for Canada s avoidance of a
nuclear weapons program and the current policy behind the nuclear program. Following will be a
discussion of Canada s nuclear weapons program and the policy on nuclear weapons. The paper
will conclude with Canadian concerns over the current nuclear program of Iran. January 1st 1946,
the United Nations created the Atomic Energy Commission, whose sole purpose was to prepare
proposals for the promotion of peaceful nuclear energy. On September 26th, General Andrew G.L.
McNaughton, who was a commander of the Canadian Forces in England during WWII as well as
the President of the National Research Council was appointed as the inaugural President of the
Atomic Energy Control Board. On October 12th 1946, the Canadian government proclaimed the

The Four Core Competencies Used In My Animation Process
Animations are an excellent way of bringing joy to a person while enhancing their experience.
However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience based
expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used
in the making of this project.
Critical Thinking The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical thinking.
Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could
potentially assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step
was to identify the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of
animation that would be well suited for children ages two to ten. Once I had a clear picture of the
problem and the target audience, I began to dive deeper into the issue and its possible solutions.
Researching was my second step in the critical thinking process. When using research for this
project, I came up with ideas that were relevant and useful to the task at hand. Consequently,
critical thinking played a crucial role in deciding on new ideas, selecting the best ones and
adjusting them if necessary. This lead to a reasonable solution... Show more content on

Unclear terms such as lack of communication, poor listening skills, lack of feedback as well as
physical and verbal distractions can contribute to barriers that affect written and oral
communication. The first step is to identify possible barriers that can cause misunderstandings
when communicating. With that said, written and oral communication did not present a challenge
when contacting my advisor. During our first meeting, I presented my idea in detail to him and
received feedback. Consequently, I was able to have a clear topic for the project due to effective

United States Dollar
Lufthansa
Lufthansa
Lufthansa
In January 1985, a German company that uses Deutschmarks made a large purchase from a U.S.
company that uses U.S. dollars, and needed to evaluate the best hedging alternatives to secure the
least possible cost. The Chairman of Lufthansa, Herr Heinz Ruhnau, purchased twenty 737 jets
from Boeing. The total purchase price was $500,000,000, which was payable in U.S. dollars on
delivery of the aircrafts in one year.
Chairman Ruhnau chose a partial cover by hedging 50% of the exposure with forward contracts,
which was $250 million at the one year forward rate of DM3.2/$. He left the remaining 50% ($250
million) uncovered.
Due to this decision, Lufthansa paid DM225,000,000 more than if Ruhnau would have ... Show

This steady rise showed the U.S. dollar was strong and would steadily increase or fluctuate around
at a similar number.
Scenario 3: The U.S. dollar may decrease
Even though Ruhnau and many others expected the U.S. dollar to decrease, there was no way of
knowing with absolute certainty that would come to fruition and how much it would actually fall.
Ruhnau needed to make a decision with the information he had.
Forecasting
There are various forecasting techniques, which include the Efficient Markets Approach, the
Fundamental Approach, and the Technical Approach. Even if Ruhnau researched and followed
these methods, they would still not predict with certainty the future U.S. dollar rate. They would
either confirm or counter his expectations and he would need to make a decision without being able
to accurately predict the future exchange rate. There are also other factors that could dramatically
affect the U.S. dollar or German Deutschmark, such as unexpected events which could make
significant impacts in appreciation or depreciation.
Necessity, Timing, and Purchase Price
In the 1980 s, Lufthansa increased the number of non stop connections and more dense route
networks (History). The aircraft purchase could have been necessary at this time because the
aircrafts could be used for expansion or growth. Potential sales from expansion opportunities of
adding new flight routes, additional flight time options, or other additional uses would be a

Example Of Masculinity In Beowulf
Beowulf is an Old English poem written somewhere between the eighth century and the tenth
century; the culture of Germanic times is depicted through varying concepts of masculinity that not
only describes their capability as a warrior, but also their aptitude as a leader. Beowulf shows of a
demon named Grendel attacking Heorot, and the king, Hrothgar, calls Beowulf, a warrior, for help
with the slaying of Grendel. Characteristics and qualities of leadership are directly linked to the
masculinity of the characters within Beowulf. The leaders in the prologue are demonstrated with
the aspects of masculinity through their strength and brutality. In Beowulf, a man demonstrates
his essential worth through evidence of masculinity as seen in Unferth s cowardice, Beowulf s
heroism, and Wiglaf s bravery. Unferth is considered less of a man because he is more intelligent
than masculine. He may be intelligent, but he is neither a strong warrior nor a brave one.
Beowulf recalls that fact that Unferth has been a warrior for Hrothgar the entire time that Grendel
has been attacking, and he has done nothing towards defeating the monster. Beowulf states, Now I
cannot recall / any fight you entered, Unferth, / that bears comparison. (lines 582 84) Unferth may
have been an intelligent man, but his lack of a high degree of masculinity causes his worth to be
lower than that of Beowulf or any other brave warrior. Unferth s inability to kill Grendel causes
Hrothgar and the other warriors

Editing In Psycho
The 1960 film Psycho includes one of the most well known murder scenes to ever be filmed by
Alfred Hitchcock. Through the use of editing Hitchcock was able to draw his audience in and
make them feel as if they were there in room watching every event unfold before their own two
eyes. Critical analysis of the killing of Marion Crane will include analysis of the editing and
camera angels used in her final moments of her life. This scene has been reviewed thousands of
times and is still today considered ahead of its time. Hitchcock composed Marion Crane s murder
using the three attributes of editing to draw the scene together and make it look like a particularly
vicious, these three attributes are of course: creating meaning through collage, tempo, and timing....

Crane was attacked while staying in the Bates Motel by an unknown female character, who was
originally presented to the audience as female. We later find out is actually Norman Bates, the motel
owner. Norman Bates, however, in this scene was not Norman Bates he was actually Mother.
Mother was a second personality the Norman had adopted after his actual mother died. Mother
was an alternate personality no one was aware of until the ending, in which Norman acting for
Mother is caught in the act of committing another murder. In the scene where Mother kills Marion
she sneaks into Marion s motel room while she showers and surprises her. Then stabs her to death,
and then leaves her to bleed out in the bathtub. Mother acts in a wildly, animalistic fashion during
this scene, which is aided by the style in which Hitchcock films and edits his

Questions On Why Kids Lie Essay
Alberto Beltran

October 19, 2016
Why kids Lie In the world there a lot of kids that likes to lie. They lie because they don t think the
consequences that have telling lies. It is because sometimes parent don t show their kids to don t
lie. There are other parents that sometimes make their kids to tell the truth but kids don t do that.
According to some articles, news, and studies, there are a result about why kids lie. There are some
articles where show a percentage why kids lie, also there are some news or studies that show the
same. Some studies show why kids lie and why isn t important. Po Bronson Ashley Merryman in
their article why kids lie (p80). States that parents often fail to address early childhood lying, since
the lying is almost innocent. Their child s too young to know what lies are, or that lying s
wrong. When the child gets older and learns that lies are bad, parents believe that lying will stop.
A child who is going to lie must recognize the truth, intellectually conceive of an alternate reality,
and be able to convincingly sell that new reality to someone else. When children first begin to
lying, they lie to avoid punishment, and because of that they lie indiscriminately. One short
example is, if there are two kids in room and one of them broke a television the more intelligent
will call their mom to tell that he wasn t the responsible that was his brother. By the time a child
reaches school age, her reasons for lying

Addison Disease Case Study
Primary Adrenal Insufficiency, better known as Addison disease is a chronic endocrine disorder
that is only present in only one in 100,000 people. Addison s disease is seen in two forms called
primary and secondary insufficiency. Primary adrenal insufficiency hails from the adrenal glands
when specific hormones like mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids, and androgens stop functioning
due to damage from autoimmune diseases, which makes the body attack itself because the immune
system is being tricked into thinking the adrenal glands are enemies, instead of being allies.
Because of this reason, the immune system tries it s best to destroy it at all costs. Secondary
adrenal insufficiencyoccurs when the adrenal glands are affected by something... Show more

The primary symptoms of Addison s disease include fatigue, weight loss, darkening of your skin,
muscle weakness, and weak, irregular pulse. The secondary hypofunction is almost identical to the
primary Addison s symptoms except without darkening of the skin, which is also called
hyperpigmentation. If you re not treated ASAP Addison disease will degrade into addisonian
crisis. The symptoms of addisonian crisis is shock due to insufficient blood in the body, pain in the
lower back, abdomen, or legs.
Addison s disease is mostly caused by problems within the adrenal glands usually by autoimmune
disease like cancer, and HIV. The cause of secondary hypofunction is long time use or abusing
steroids and pituitary tumors and damage to the pituitary glands during surgery. The risk factors
for getting Addison s disease increase if you have autoimmune disease like cancer, type 1 diabetes
or graves disease, using blood thinners, and had a piece of your adrenal glands taken out during

Being Homeless
Being homeless is one of the hardest things a person can go through. Not having a home to go to
or a place to sleep is depressing. Not having a job or money leaves people desperate to survive and
there is only so much help people can give. The problem with many countries, not just the United
States of America, is that the percent of homeless people are steadily increasing. According to the
HomelessnessOverview of Current Issues and GAO Studies, there is close to 600,000 homeless
people living on the streets of America. Some don t care to help the situation, people will walk

programs provide an array of services, such as housing, health care, job training, and
transportation. (p. 4). Unfortunately, there are people out in the world who don t care for
helping the homeless. Mostly, they ignore them and one reason for that is because it is easier to

step to helping them, and helping them will decrease homelessness nationally. The Help the

was originally written for adults, but it is now remembered and adored by people from all parts
of the world and people from all walks of life especially by teenagers a likely effect that was only
inevitable considering the center stage of the narrator the great crumby flake Holden Caulfield, to
use his style of speaking, who accurately portrayed teenage angst and loneliness in a style that
many youngsters could and do relate to.1 The book is about his quest to find himself after being

But it isn t easy to determine the length of this double standard because of the scarcity of good,
honest conversations and discussions about and with other men and boys throughout the book.
Caulfield s trials and tribulations have a heavy emphasis on women and girls, so that is why
much of the info on this lens naturally lens towards discussions on feminine social standards from
his perspective. There are many women and girls that Holden Caulfield talks about, talks to, and
thinks about throughout the novel. For further analysis on his relationships with them, they can
be divided into three categories: figures of authority, lovers, and family. Caulfield s own mother
would have been the character of choice for the first category, but since there is a scarce amount
of conversation with her we ll have to default to the next most talkative female authority figure:
the mother of a fellow classmate named Ernest Morrow. He met the woman on a commuter rail
heading to New York from Caulfield s school dorm in Pencey Prep in Agerstown, Pennsylvania.
She initiated a conversation with him after she noticed a school sticker on one of his suitcases.
They mostly discussed about the school and about Ernest Morrow s personality and behavior, and
of course the usual motherly inquiry of whether or not they were friends. Although Caulfield ended

Research Paper On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Tripti Pandey Mrs. Dillon English 7/8 12 April 2017 The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire As
time goes by, everything is evolving: from machines to people. However, evolution does not
simply occur, it is caused. On March 25, 1911, the triangle shirtwaist factory (brown building)
burned down, taking 146 innocent people s lives with it (Fire, par. 3). These lives could have
been saved by the two owners of the Brown Building, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. If they had
just taken a few basic precautions, such as supplying a sufficient amount of water to different parts
of the building, these people may have been spared (Sweatshops and Strikes, par. 2). The deaths of
these innocent workers provoked an uprising towards the factories. The Triangle... Show more

For example, workers of any age were permitted, as long as they worked (Staff, par. 2). Before
leaving the building, workers had to pass through the only backdoor, which was down a narrow
passageway, which was supposed to prevent robberies (Staff, par. 2). There were also many
safety hazards that the owners slyly kept away from the eyes of the City Council members.
There were only two slim fire escapes while there should have been three wide ones, and there
were only a couple buckets of water given to throw at the event of a fire(Leap for Life, Leap of
Death, par. 6). At the time of the fire, the fire department realized that there was a lot more that
the owners could have done to prevent this accident. As an after effect of the fire, many rules
were put into place in New York to prevent fires from happening in similar circumstances. A
major law that was put into place is the Occupational Safety and Health act or OSHA (Korasick,
par. 1). This law states that employees working in factories should not be exposed to anything
harmful, should not have terrible working conditions, and that workplaces of factory employees
need to be sanitary (Epa, 1). If the fire had not occurred, factories would still, under many

Let s Continue The Half Of The Book
OK. Let s continue the latter half of the book. In chapter five, the authors provide two examples to
illustrate their framework. I am so thankful for this chapter. I learned so much about civil right
movement and the mortgage crisis in 2008. And I also got confused so many times by the terms
they use when talking about the mortgagecrisis. Anyway, let s begin. In chapter five, the authors say
that they want to identify the strategic action fields, the main actors, and the changes of meanings
in the crises. In the first example, they state that the national racial policy fieldwas a system of fields
which was supported by the strategic action fields of Democratic Party, Republican Party, and the
cotton economy in the south before 1930s. Then the exogenous shocks, the great depression and
the cold war, destabilized the peaceful fields. After the shocks, the environment became vulnerable
and led the Montgomery movement nationalize to a national movement. And finally, the movement
ended and the new settlement established because of several internal or external reasons. Also, the
movement had impacts on other strategic action fields like new movements or new regulatory
agencies.
And here is my first question, I would like to know if you think the authors apply their
framework well in this example. And I am also curious about where did they show the social
skills of the actors in this example. I saw a lot of the overlapping strategic action fields, federal
governments, and civil

The Federal Reserve Board Is A Regulating Body That...
The Federal Reserve Board is a regulating body that determines how United States will lend money
by coordinating the banks and defining the value of the dollar. A Governor on the Federal Reserve
board communicates with the twelve region s bank presidents, economic analysts, and their
regional directors, and collectively define the dollar by selling long term and short term bonds that
advance a percentage of the worth. Once an agreement has been made upon fraction percentage,
banks are required to maintain that stated amount in a Federal Reservevault, or the bank s vault.
The Federal Reserve loans temporary funds to the banks that do not meet the reserve requirement
in the form of a short term loan, usually overnight. A large amount of the Federal Reserve Board s
time is spent discussing fractions of a percent on specific money related rates which steers the
economy.
THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL RESERVE S IMPACT ON THE ECONOMY
The Federal Reserve was created by an ACT of the U.S. Congress in 1913. Markets very often
were unstable due to the public having very little faith and trust in the private banking system,
which was self evident during several periods in our countries history, most notable the run on the
banks in the 1920s and 1930s. The Federal Reserve was created as an independent entity, however
it is subject to oversight from Congress, and Congress periodically reviews the Fed s activities.

are most popular (Encarta). The first social sorority started in 1851 by women at Wesleyan College
in Macon, Georgia. The women founded the Adelphean Society, which later became a Greek letter

How Water And Sunlight Affects Plant Growth
Review of Literature
Introduction How Water and Sunlight Affect Plant Growth
Photosynthesis is how water and sunlight affect plant growth. According to The Merriam Webster
Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which chlorophyll containing plants
make carbohydrates from water and from carbon dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This
basically means photosynthesis is the process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed
food and energy using sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight
affects plant growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive
energy and food.
Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially humans. As stated
before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and energy, which helps them grow
and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for plants though. Plants produce various things
we use in life such as wood, paper, food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce

Forced Sterilization And Its Effects On Society
Shortly after the turn of the century, nearly two thirds of states in America enacted laws that
required sterilization of various criminals, mentally ill, epileptics, alcoholics, and sufferers of
poverty (Largent, 2011). All of this effort was exerted to prevent undesirable children from being
born. It was justified by the assumption that unfit people aren t capable of adequate parenting;
therefore their offspring would be a financial burden on society. Strong ideals and dogma were the
weapons chosen by eugenicists to get involuntary sterilizationlegalized.
Depending on who is in power politically at a given time, certain people in society are vulnerable
to abuse. This author will focus on the topic of forced sterilization in America, as there are certain
people in this country that are still coerced and forced into sterilization.
Background
The topic of eugenics is broad in nature and can mean anything from human sterilization,
reproductive genetic technologies (RGT), selective breeding, restrictions on marriage and
withholding assistance from the poor and sick. All of this effort is exerted to protect society from
the unfit, inferior and ultimately to improve the quality of the gene pool (Camporesi, 2015).
Historical perspective
After Charles Darwin published his book On the origins of species in 1859, evolution became a
hot topic of discussion; the notion of the human race improving itself by selective breeding started
to spread (Winfield, 2012). For years

Controversy of the Online Class Professor: Steve Lindeman ENL 213 Wensi Zeng 5/03/2013
Abstract Online courses have started within the past 30 years as a means of learning. With
increases in Internet use, many U.S. schools offer online classes. Because of the main disparities
amid online course and face to face instruction, numerous questions have been brought forth in
regard to the quality of online courses. This research will help American college students to
understand the difference between online classes and face to face courses, and give them an idea

restrictions such as distance. If students want to travel to another country and still need to achieve
a degree, they can take online classes and transfer back to their home colleges. Moreover, some
students come from regions where the colleges do not offer the courses they want, so they will be
required to take online classes. In the current job market, taking courses online assists employees

Child Beauty Pageants Are Harmful
Why Child Beauty Pageants are Harmful Beauty pageants have been around for some time and
have even become apart of our American society, however parents don t realize or comprehend the
risk they are taking with their children. Society has made the beauty pageant industry seem
appealing, especially with shows like Toddlers and Tiaras . Meanwhile, young girls are being
forced to grow up in an environment where they are taught to look and act like adults. Instead of
having normal encounters with costumes, high heels, and makeup, they are being forced by their
mothers to wear tight sexualizing dresses, more makeup than most women, and even false teeth to
present themselves as beautiful. These factors could lead these children to have depression,

Five Phases Of Immigration In Australia During The 19th...
During the 19th century, five main phases have characterized immigration in Australia. The Gold
Rush period in 1851, led immigrants from Europe and East Asia to migrate to Australia in search
of gold finds (Spinks, 2010). The second phase of immigration occurred in 1871, when Egypt
expanded its passage of the Suez Canal and migrants from Northern Africa and the Middle East
were able to gain access to Australias southern seaports (Boulus, Dowding, and Pietsch, 2013). In
1901, however, the new Commonwealth of Australia established the ImmigrationRestriction Act, or
the White Australia policy, which banned immigrants from entering Australia. Moreover, the policy

Negotiation Is Not An Easy Process
Negtiation is a strategic process of reconciling differences in interest and coming to a mutual
resolution through cooperation that is percieved fair for both of involved parties (Fells 2012). The
negotiation that was analysed in the Enterprise Agreement Negotiation Report, demonstrates that
negotiation is not an easy process nor its orderly, since it is the activity and not the segment that
determines the phase of a negotiation. According to Halpert et al. s Path model, negotiation consists
of different phases such as preparation, differentiation, exploration, and exchange. The preparation
phase in our previous negotiation became an essential part that played a role of evaluation of both

Naturally, the union took the intitiative to develop creative solutions that explored the options in
front of them oppose to taking on a competitive approach that would involve exchange of trade offs
(Fells 2014). An effective negotiator is a strategic negotiator, who is able to switch back and forth
between different phases of a negotiation without losing the goal in mind. An effective negotiator
takes time to process what is happening during the negotiation and ensures that the right problem is
being resolved while taking into consideration other party s intrests to finding a common ground.
Concequently those type of actions facilitate in the process of a negotiation by creating a
cooperative environment and enhance the furture relationship between the parties (Fells 2012;
Sebenius 2001). An effective negotiator aknowledges that no party is the same and as every
negotiation, every negotiator is different from one another. These variations explain the DNA of
negotiation that requires an effective negotiator to take into considerations the strands of the DNA,
such as reciprocity, trust, power, information exchange, ethics, and outcome that vary from person
to person (Fells 2012, pg 8). A negotiation script is a metophorical storyline of a negotiation that

I Stand Here Ironing, By Tillie Olsen
I Stand Here Ironing, which is a popular short story by Tillie Olsen describing the hard lives of
people during The Great Depression in the 1930s, focuses on the numerous difficulties of a
mother who had to take care of a child by herself. The short story begins with a view of an
apartment room where a woman is ironing. Her work is interrupted by a call asking for her help
for understanding Emily, her first daughter. By recalling and gathering all memories between her
and Emily, the narrator realizes that there are a lot of things which make her feel guilty and
regretful about her daughter. In the end, turning back to the present, she believes that Emily will
be fine with her true value inside despite of the rocky childhood. In the setting, the narrator is
doing her housework, ironing, as an ordinary activity at every late night weekend after taking her
children to bed. Actually, the ironing, which is such a boring work for everyone, makes her mind
easily follow the mental process of flashback about Emily s childhood, especially after she receives
a call from Emily s counselor.
By the time of the post Great Depression, most of working class families still lived in the small,
old and hovel apartments in urban or suburban areas. Each apartment only had two or three rooms
where all family members had to share their spaces to live. Under the glimmering, dim yellow light
of a lamp, the room in the setting appears as little, simple living room which is combined with the

East Cooper Community Outreach
The non profit I have chosen for my leadership project is the East Cooper Community Outreach
program. This program is a non profit organization that was founded in 1989 to assist victims after
Hurricane Hugo. East Cooper Community Outreach, also known as ECCO, offers assistance to the
numerous people in Mount Pleasant living at the poverty level, also known as the working poor.
ECCO is essential to the community and we will learn about this organization s genesis and the

Persuasive Speech On Sea Turtles
Imagine a world of chaos. We see things like that all the time in movies, where zombies roam the
earth and there are just those few main survivors left. The world is in ruins. If ocean life was to
die out, there would be a collapse of civilization as a whole. Just like we see on TV, the world
would become a place where no order exists. This would lead to human extinction. The ocean dies,
we die along with it, and if sea turtles die, so does the ocean. In simple words, one could say that
human life depends on sea turtles. In this speech I will be covering three topics. First, how a sea
turtles diet benefits marine life and humans, second, how sea turtles provide homes and food for
other species, and last, how sea turtles protect beaches from washing away.
Sea turtles have been a big help in maintaining the health of the world s ocean for more than 100
million years. They help by keeping up coral reefs all the way to transporting nutrients to
beaches. Major changes have occurred in oceans everywhere due to the decline of the sea turtle
population. Oceans are unhealthy because of this. It is time for us to protect the sea turtles and
rebuild their population to ensure healthy oceans in the future. According to oceana.org, there
are seven species of sea turtles that roam the world, six of which inhabit U.S. waters, and have
been listed as either endangered, or threatened. Up until now, all six of these species are not at a
healthy level despite protection measures from the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Some
populations even continue to decline. Even at a diminished population, sea turtles play an
important role in ecosystems. They are also extremely important to humans because they keep
oceans healthy, and we use the ocean as a food source. They keep up the health of the ocean in
many different ways, all of which, are very important. Sea turtles are one of the few animals that
eat sea grass. Just like normal lawn grass, sea grass needs to be constantly cut short to help it
grow across the sea floor rather than just getting really long blades. Without constant grazing, sea
grass beds obstruct currents and provide a suitable habitat for the growth of slime molds. Sea grass
beds provide breeding grounds for many

The Necessary Inclusion of Cyber-Bullying Legislation in...
In Canada, the emergence of bullying has risen to new heights as advancements in technology have
allowed almost anybody to conduct harmful acts against another person while maintaining vast
amounts of anonymity (Shariff, Cyber Bullying: Issues and solutions for the school, the classroom

Shariff Jaishankar, Cyber Bullying: A Transnational Perspective, 2009; Froese Germain, 2008).
Cyberbullying is broadly defined as any type of harm that is inflicted upon a victimvia electronic

For kids and adolescents, most of their days are spent at school, in which they can be victims of

brings forth the concern of further harm which schools feel they can not control (Froese

respect that is shown towards the teachers, as not only does cyber bullying occur towards

For several years many advances in technology and human living have come from necessity, and
that necessity comes from periods of war. We have built tanks and guns and planes and bombs to
increase our chances of winning battles, and sparing as many of our lives and destroying as many
of their lives as possible. Through such advances came better car engines, faster transportation,
better security and self defense, and awareness of the dangers of weaponry. One product of the

Several are working upon the use of electromagnetic pulses, specifically the electromagnetic gun
(EM gun, rail gun, coil gun) as a way for new weaponry and advances in science.
The rail gun is a machine, in which it uses electromagnetic wave to send objects far distances
without a use of a fuse. Its makeup is of, usually, two parallel copper rails, connected to a power
source, which must be enormous. Within the rails is a groove carved out to fit in a small projectile,
which can be aluminum, graphite, or copper.[1] The way the gun works is that the power source
sends an electric current up one rail, going through the projectile, and down the second rail. The
result is a powerful magnetic field that causes the projectile to be thrown out of the barrel at high
speeds. This phenomenon has been named Lorentz Force.[2] Due to the design of the rails, the
projectile accelerates as it moves up the barrel. All you physics majors should know the result; that
s right higher velocity and farther distance. It is necessary for rails and the projectile to be
conductive, which is why they are of such materials.
The concept of the rail gun was created long ago, but what gave it spotlight was President Ronald
Reagan s necessity. The Strategic Defense Initiative was a plan initiated by Reagan, said in his
speech in March, 1983, as a

that human beings are naturally equal; that means everybody including the slaves has the human

Where The Wild Things Are By Maurice Sendak
1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is an exuberant picture book which will make
it a fun and exciting read. The compressed language will guide children easily throughout the
book. Sendak promotes a touching message of unconditional love, a message that even if one
misbehaves, there will be supper waiting on the table (Max does get sent to his room, but no
matter how much he has misbehaved, his mother will always love him and cherish him). Sendak
also dives into deeper psychological emotions . Max might be seen and chastised as a wild thing
by his mother, his emotional actions are described as an integral part of his being, maybe not quite
appropriate, but also not completely inappropriate, rather as a living, breathing part of Max s being.
It is these emotions, these feelings that are the impetus to Max s adventures in the realm of the

The Universality of the Marginalize Other through Irish Film
Term Paper: The Universality of the Marginalized Other Through Irish Film Film has the unique
ability to be both deeply personal and yet universal in nature. While national cinemas have the
ability to define a country s national identity and presence in the world, they also have the ability
to reach global audiences with universal themes that reverberate through the global consciousness
and tell the stories of many around the world. Though themes of national identity and
marginalized populations can seem to be specific to their national cultures and countries, the
greater more universal themes of inequality and social strife can be found just below the surface,
lending theses films a universal appeal. In Irish film the Travelling community has often taken
center stage as both the subject of romantic notions of national identity as well as a symbol of
contemporary social and economic policies and increased globalization of modern Ireland. When
dealing with the Irish Travelling community as a symbol, the themes, issues, and concerns facing
this population can become globalized and can come to represent larger issues facing global
marginalized communities all over the world. This Universalist approach can be applied when
dealing with the Irish films, Into the West (1993) and Pavee Lackeen (2005), as well as the British
film Fish Tank (2009). Not only is the Travelling community present in each film, but also their
presence can be seen as symbolizing something different

more effectively by embracing the difference. Arguably, the diversity is about diversity of

Equally, this is probably because when we respect different cultures and thought in business
units, we begin to think on open minded approach when solving challenges elsewhere. Since I
worked in multinational company, I had to deal with people from different education level. That
was not a big problem for me because when I was in university, I realized that my university was
a representative of diversity itself. My university had more than 30 different majors, with most
of the students were men. I had to learn about how to work together with those diverse

Imagery In The Veldt
In the short story The Veldt by Ray Bradbury uses symbolism and imagery to exhibit the children,
Wendy and Peter s hatred towards their parents. Screams could hint towards a specific idea or
theory using symbolism. Although someone could argue that simple and hard to notice things like
these could prove anything, more symbols pop up in the story. Even easy to notice things, like
the lions, are overlooked. Not just symbolism is used to prove this theme. Imagery is used, maybe
not as often, but adds so much more detail to the children s anger. The sun is almost always
mentioned when anyone goes into the veldt, whether it s just the sun s presence, or it s radiating
heat. Imagery and symbolism, even if they re not obvious, play a huge part in The Veldt, and
describing the children s abomination for their parents. Symbolism is written all over inside the

their absence in their lives. Along with its visibility, the sun s heat is quite noticeable from the
moment anyone steps foot in the room. The heat is mentioned when Mr. Hadley s face begins to
feel sweaty while looking at the vultures. The extreme heat is another example of the children s
terrible feelings. The hotter the sun, the more hatred the children have been keeping bottled up
inside them. While not obvious at first, the sun can make a huge difference in the way the reader

The concept of diversity is becoming more and more important as years go by. This concept is not
as easy as it may appear; diversity is not just about acceptance and respect. Understanding what
diversity is means understanding that each person is unique; it means understanding and
recognising our differences; moreover, moving beyond differences of gender, race, age, religious
beliefs and political beliefs. Understanding and managing diversityis trying to make sure that all
those differences fit together like pieces of a mosaic. The concept is extremely important in
today s society, following everything that has been happening related to this matter. We consider
ourselves a tolerant and evolved society; yet we still hear of people of colour discriminated and
killed everyday, we still hear of women living in horrible conditions, deprived of their dignity and
sold as slaves. It appears obvious so, that diversity has to be taken into consideration when we talk
about organisations. Everything that is happening in the world is reflected into firms too;
organizations are, in fact, part of a wider social system.
That is why managing diversity is possibly one of the hardest challenges that managers have to
face in today s world. This essay is going to examine the concept of diversity in organisations
today, why we have to consider it important and what kinds of advantages companies receive.
Moreover, the essay will focus on gender diversity showing that even a lot of efforts still

Matilda The Musical Analysis
Family friendly, heart tugging, hilarious, energy filled, Matilda the Musical does it all in this
unbelievable performance and is a must see for everyone. The humor is perfect for all ages and
will have everyone laughing, but at the same time still has little remarks that go over the kid s
head. Matilda the Musical is currently playing in the beautiful Cambridge Theatre in London s
West End and the set and special of effects of the Matilda are a little unnecessary at times, but still
impressive nonetheless. This show will have you laughing and talking about the performance for
days to come!
Based on Roald Dahl s novel, Matilda is the story of an unwanted girl born to abusive parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, that want nothing to do with her. The incredible conniving Mr.
Wormwood, played by David Birch, is a used car salesman who will sell a lemon to anyone to
make some quick cash. Mrs. Wormwood, played by Marianne Benedict, is so caught up in her
ballroom dancing championships that she totally neglects the fact that she is so visibly pregnant.
However, the child she gives birth to is Matilda Wormwoodand she is an exceptional little girl with
mind powers and an innate ability to read and tell stories. Later on Matilda is sent to a dreadful
school under the leadership of the callous headmaster, Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull, played
by David Shannon, is tyrannical and merciless in her approach to dealing with children and even
goes as far to say the phrase Children are

2 Process Theories of Motivation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Motivation theories are primarily divided into two major types which
are the content theories and the process theories. This report aims to critically evaluate two process
theories of motivation which is the Expectancy Theory by Victor Vroom and the Equity Theory by
John Stacy Adams. The methodologies used in this report include a study and analysis of
textbooks, writings and journals from the internet. As a conclusion, the question is not whether
each of these approaches to motivationworks, but where and when they work best. TABLE OF

Conversely, if he or she sees low productivity as path to the achievement of his or her goals, he or
she will tend to be a low producer . Lyman W. Porter and Edward E. Lawler developed a more
complete version of motivation depending upon expectancy theory. {draw:frame} Actual
performance in a job is primarily determined by the effort spent. But it is also affected by the
person s ability to do the job and also by individual s perception of what the required task is. So
performance is the responsible factor that leads to intrinsic as well as extrinsic rewards. These
rewards, along with the equity of individual leadto satisfaction. The conclusions that can be drawn
from this theory are: Individuals will only act when they have a reasonable expectation that their
behaviour will lead to the desired outcome. Effort alone is not sufficient. It has to be accompanied
by ability and skill. Job satisfaction results from effective job performance rather than the other way
round. Job design is therefore of crucial importance as it affects the workers motivation directly.
{text:list item} Personal Traits One variable that organisations are not able to affect directly is that
which is intrinsic to the individual: the person s locus of control and, obviously, any other
personality traits. Interestingly, personality traits, it can be argued,

The History Of Animals Being Domesticated
The history of animals being domesticated starts as far back as 20,000 years ago, when large
mammals such as bison roamed the tundra of Europe and Asia. They were hunted widely by
two groups of hunters, both smaller and weaker than the bison, but both had sufficient
developed social systems to allow them to hunt and kill in packs. These two hunters were the
humans and the wolves. These two groups of hunters are surprisingly similar. Both are family
based and led by a dominant male whose female partner has authority second to his. All of the
members are friendly towards each other, but extremely suspicious of outsiders. All members
are also protective of any newborn and young in the pack, and both are good at interpreting the
moods of others, by facial expression or other forms of body language. Though humans and
wolves started out competing for the same prey, but soon realized the advantages for both of
them in teaming up. On the side of the wolves, human ingenuity and the use of weapons mean a
share in a greater number of kill, and maybe a taste of bigger pretty they couldn t take down
alone, such as mammoths. On the side of humans, the speed of the wolves and ferocity is
equivalent to a new weapon altogether. The partnership between the two is natural. People love to
nurture an abandoned young animal, and a wolf cub is adapted to learn the rules of a hierarchical
human society. For a species like the wolf to become domesticated, it must be willing to breed in

Wide Open Spaces Hey! I m Brooke... I guess that s how I should start this thing. As you will

so true). I grew up in the small town of Fleming, Georgia. If you happen to be incredibly bored,

unclaimed hoodlums of Liberty County. My town s claim to fame is the Fleming Shortcut (aka an

that I would be bored as heck, because the best thing to do is drive thirty minutes to the closest

Hence they are able to foresee the possible outcomes of the task and this will help the group to
effectively communicate with vision of the possible solution. This kind of personality is clearly
found on someone who is the go getter and someone who is creative. Thinking/Feeling
Psychological Types ( 2008b) explains that Thinking is an ability to deal with information on the
basis of its structure and its function. Feeling is an ability to deal with information on the basis
of its initial energetic condition and its interactions , people with this kind of personality
(thinking) are more in the decision making side. Someone with thinking personality has the
greater ability of doing things in logical manner and he tends to pay more attention on the bigger
picture of the given task. People with the feeling personality type are more concerned about
feelings of other individuals and they are more ethical, which makes them to be good in
developing team dynamics. Team with good ethical rules they tend to be more effective and
produce quality results. In any working environment there will be some times conflicts and
sometimes conflicts can lead a group to informed or uninformed decisions. So people with the
feeling personality don t like conflicts and that could be their weak link, because when working as

The Negative And Positive Connotation On Speech Communities
There is negative and positive connotation on speech communities based on what social media
portrays for each group. This issue within society is that we see language as a system and right or
wrong. An example is Slang, African American Vernacular language and also. When hearing slang
people tend to assume that the person or group using it comes from a lower class. One
misconception is that an individual that is using AAE is a product of a lower income community.
Proper and non proper speech is correlated to economic and social status of speaker. An example
for African AmericanVernacular languagewas presented through the video Who else done messed
up? In this video the substitute was using African American Vernacular English
when pronouncing
the student s names there was voice stops devoiced at the end of the names, consonant cluster
deduction and vocalization in names but when giving instruction none of these features appeared.
The negative connotation in this video is the substitute was speaking in commonly used English
that would be considered AAVE but because it is believed that only African Americans use AAVE
the video shows how there was only one person that understood the substitute enunciation and is
was a young African American male. There is a misconception that each country has one language
but in reality, this is a variety of dialects within each one. Another fallacy/ mistaken belief is that an
individual that is using AAE is non educated, that is not

Kristallnacht Reflection
The Holocaust was a horrific time period. It all started around 1933 when Hitler was appointed
Chancellor of Germany. Hitler used the Nuremberg Race Laws to deprive the Jews of their German
citizenship. Kristallnacht, which is a government organized pogrom against Jews in Germany was
the start of the mistreatment of Jewsin their homes and synagogues. Holocaust survivors like Elie
Wiesel shared their stories to provide more insight into what actually happened during this time.
Elie Wiesel was 15 at the beginning of his Holocaust experience. The Holocaustwas a time of
devastation for millions of Jews. The Nazis went to the Jews homes and told them to start packing

They were either going to burn in the crematory or go into the gas chambers. The German
society was very wicked towards the Jews. There was a hidden reason behind the Nazis moving
the Jews from camp to camp, separating their families, and beating or killing any Jews who make
a mistake. The evidence shows that in the early days of their accession to power, the Nazis in
Germany set out to build a society in which there simply would be no more room for Jews.
(Wiesel, viii) They also state that, It is obvious that the war which Hitler and his accomplices
waged was a war not only against Jewish men, women, and children, but also against Jewish
religion, Jewish culture, Jewish tradition, therefore Jewish memory. (Wiesel, viii) This shows just
how badly the Nazis wanted to kill the Jews. They made them work and then decided to kill them
off. In the end they got their wish when while watching their friends and neighbors fall dead all
around them, when there were many who started dying off. (Wiesel) The whole purpose for their
mistreatment towards the Jews was because they simply didn t want them there. They wanted to be
ruler over them and their population.Elie Wiesel decided to write this book to tell his story about
his Holocaust experience. Elie wanted to spread the message that the other Jews couldn t. He stated

Examples Of Ideal Beauty And The Venus Of Willendorf
Ideal Beauty and the Venus of Willendorf The Venus of Willendorf is said to be the first
masterpiece of world sculptures. It belongs to a series of Venus figurines of the Paleolithic
period or Old Stone Age. This period was characterized by crude stone and bone weapons, cave
paintings, and sculptures. The Venus was found in a small village of Austria called Willendorf,
hence the name of the Venus. This groundbreaking discovery was made in 1908 by the
archaeologist Josef Szombathy. However, it was not until 1990 when we were able to predict
the time when the sculpture was carved. It is believed to have been made between 25,000 B.C.E
and 20,000 B.C.E. The sculpture is only 4,4 inches tall and it is made of oolitic limestone, which
is a carbonate rock commonly found in India, around the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean Islands, but
not Austria. Therefore, archeologists believe that this sculpture was moved from its original place
of creation. Continuing with that idea, because of the fact that the sculpture does not have defined
feet so it is not able to stand and that it is small and malleable, historians believe that it was
originally made to be carried around as a talisman or a sign of good luck, especially for fertility
purposes. It is important to notice how the structure of this sculpture highlights some human
features (breasts, belly, hips, vulva) while minimizing others, such as arms and legs. The Venus
represents the first aesthetic ideas of our early history, which has

  • 2. Analysis Of Gibson s `` Television Special `` Polygamy On... Gibson (2010) also frames polygamy in the context of women struggles and not being able to control their own lives. Gibson gives his opinion on polygamy and how it violates the Christian family. Gibson (2010) argues that polygamy came about because of systematic patriarchy. Gibson gives information on Anderson Cooper s television special Polygamyin America, Cult or Calling? which discusses the capture of polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. Gibson (2010) explains how America s recent fascination with polygamy only covers one aspect of it referring to the main coverage of modern day Mormon polygamy. The researcher also gives information on the change of polygamous relationships over time. Gibson (2010) reflects that in modern day polygamous marriages people are able to pick their spouses. Women are actually enjoying being in a polygamous marriage instead of being forced into it. Simpson (2007) elaborates on the culture and faith of most polygamous. The author states that the history of Mormonism has involved to highly complex contacts and negotiations with non Mormons in their attempts to convert, resist, or appease outsiders. Mormons have engaged in a distinctive dialectic of secrecy and self disclosure. (p.11) In some cases, Simpson (2007) suggests Mormons feel they are being forced to be modernized. Non Mormons in the Utah territory and the United States saw Utah s acceptance of Mormonism and women as a shameful attempt to solidify the church s political power. ... • 5. The Four Core Competencies Used In My Animation Process Animations are an excellent way of bringing joy to a person while enhancing their experience. However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience based expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used in the making of this project. Critical Thinking The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical thinking. Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could potentially assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step was to identify the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of animation that would be well suited for children ages two to ten. Once I had a clear picture of the problem and the target audience, I began to dive deeper into the issue and its possible solutions. Researching was my second step in the critical thinking process. When using research for this project, I came up with ideas that were relevant and useful to the task at hand. Consequently, critical thinking played a crucial role in deciding on new ideas, selecting the best ones and adjusting them if necessary. This lead to a reasonable solution... • 6. United States Dollar Lufthansa Lufthansa Lufthansa In January 1985, a German company that uses Deutschmarks made a large purchase from a U.S. company that uses U.S. dollars, and needed to evaluate the best hedging alternatives to secure the least possible cost. The Chairman of Lufthansa, Herr Heinz Ruhnau, purchased twenty 737 jets from Boeing. The total purchase price was $500,000,000, which was payable in U.S. dollars on delivery of the aircrafts in one year. Chairman Ruhnau chose a partial cover by hedging 50% of the exposure with forward contracts, which was $250 million at the one year forward rate of DM3.2/$. He left the remaining 50% ($250 million) uncovered. Due to this decision, Lufthansa paid DM225,000,000 more than if Ruhnau would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This steady rise showed the U.S. dollar was strong and would steadily increase or fluctuate around at a similar number. Scenario 3: The U.S. dollar may decrease Even though Ruhnau and many others expected the U.S. dollar to decrease, there was no way of knowing with absolute certainty that would come to fruition and how much it would actually fall. Ruhnau needed to make a decision with the information he had. Forecasting There are various forecasting techniques, which include the Efficient Markets Approach, the Fundamental Approach, and the Technical Approach. Even if Ruhnau researched and followed these methods, they would still not predict with certainty the future U.S. dollar rate. They would either confirm or counter his expectations and he would need to make a decision without being able to accurately predict the future exchange rate. There are also other factors that could dramatically affect the U.S. dollar or German Deutschmark, such as unexpected events which could make significant impacts in appreciation or depreciation. Necessity, Timing, and Purchase Price In the 1980 s, Lufthansa increased the number of non stop connections and more dense route networks (History). The aircraft purchase could have been necessary at this time because the aircrafts could be used for expansion or growth. • 7. Example Of Masculinity In Beowulf Beowulf is an Old English poem written somewhere between the eighth century and the tenth century; the culture of Germanic times is depicted through varying concepts of masculinity that not only describes their capability as a warrior, but also their aptitude as a leader. Beowulf shows of a demon named Grendel attacking Heorot, and the king, Hrothgar, calls Beowulf, a warrior, for help with the slaying of Grendel. Characteristics and qualities of leadership are directly linked to the masculinity of the characters within Beowulf. The leaders in the prologue are demonstrated with the aspects of masculinity through their strength and brutality. In Beowulf, a man demonstrates his essential worth through evidence of masculinity as seen in Unferth s cowardice, Beowulf s heroism, and Wiglaf s bravery. Unferth is considered less of a man because he is more intelligent than masculine. He may be intelligent, but he is neither a strong warrior nor a brave one. Beowulf recalls that fact that Unferth has been a warrior for Hrothgar the entire time that Grendel has been attacking, and he has done nothing towards defeating the monster. Beowulf states, Now I cannot recall / any fight you entered, Unferth, / that bears comparison. (lines 582 84) Unferth may have been an intelligent man, but his lack of a high degree of masculinity causes his worth to be lower than that of Beowulf or any other brave warrior. Critical analysis of the killing of Marion Crane will include analysis of the editing and camera angels used in her final moments of her life. This scene has been reviewed thousands of times and is still today considered ahead of its time. Hitchcock composed Marion Crane s murder using the three attributes of editing to draw the scene together and make it look like a particularly vicious, these three attributes are of course: creating meaning through collage, tempo, and timing.... Po Bronson Ashley Merryman in their article why kids lie (p80). States that parents often fail to address early childhood lying, since the lying is almost innocent. Their child s too young to know what lies are, or that lying s wrong. When the child gets older and learns that lies are bad, parents believe that lying will stop. A child who is going to lie must recognize the truth, intellectually conceive of an alternate reality, and be able to convincingly sell that new reality to someone else. When children first begin to lying, they lie to avoid punishment, and because of that they lie indiscriminately. One short example is, if there are two kids in room and one of them broke a television the more intelligent will call their mom to tell that he wasn t the responsible that was his brother. Mostly, they ignore them and one reason for that is because it is easier to ignore the homeless than it is to acknowledge and help them. But acknowledging them is the first step to helping them, and helping them will decrease homelessness nationally. The Help the Homeless Program is a good program to start and as long as there are people who care and join in to get the program started, then it will make a difference in a homeless person s ... There are many women and girls that Holden Caulfield talks about, talks to, and thinks about throughout the novel. For further analysis on his relationships with them, they can be divided into three categories: figures of authority, lovers, and family. Caulfield s own mother would have been the character of choice for the first category, but since there is a scarce amount of conversation with her we ll have to default to the next most talkative female authority figure: the mother of a fellow classmate named Ernest Morrow. He met the woman on a commuter rail heading to New York from Caulfield s school dorm in Pencey Prep in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. She initiated a conversation with him after she noticed a school sticker on one of his suitcases. Research Paper On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Tripti Pandey Mrs. Dillon English 7/8 12 April 2017 The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire As time goes by, everything is evolving: from machines to people. However, evolution does not simply occur, it is caused. On March 25, 1911, the triangle shirtwaist factory (brown building) burned down, taking 146 innocent people s lives with it (Fire, par. 3). These lives could have been saved by the two owners of the Brown Building, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. If they had just taken a few basic precautions, such as supplying a sufficient amount of water to different parts of the building, these people may have been spared (Sweatshops and Strikes, par. 2). The deaths of these innocent workers provoked an uprising towards the factories. The Triangle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before leaving the building, workers had to pass through the only backdoor, which was down a narrow passageway, which was supposed to prevent robberies (Staff, par. 2). There were also many safety hazards that the owners slyly kept away from the eyes of the City Council members. There were only two slim fire escapes while there should have been three wide ones, and there were only a couple buckets of water given to throw at the event of a fire(Leap for Life, Leap of Death, par. 6). At the time of the fire, the fire department realized that there was a lot more that the owners could have done to prevent this accident. As an after effect of the fire, many rules were put into place in New York to prevent fires from happening in similar circumstances. A major law that was put into place is the Occupational Safety and Health act or OSHA (Korasick, par. 1). I am so thankful for this chapter. I learned so much about civil right movement and the mortgage crisis in 2008. And I also got confused so many times by the terms they use when talking about the mortgagecrisis. Anyway, let s begin. In chapter five, the authors say that they want to identify the strategic action fields, the main actors, and the changes of meanings in the crises. In the first example, they state that the national racial policy fieldwas a system of fields which was supported by the strategic action fields of Democratic Party, Republican Party, and the cotton economy in the south before 1930s. Then the exogenous shocks, the great depression and the cold war, destabilized the peaceful fields. After the shocks, the environment became vulnerable and led the Montgomery movement nationalize to a national movement. And finally, the movement ended and the new settlement established because of several internal or external reasons. Also, the movement had impacts on other strategic action fields like new movements or new regulatory agencies. And here is my first question, I would like to know if you think the authors apply their framework well in this example. And I am also curious about where did they show the social skills of the actors in this example. I saw a lot of the overlapping strategic action fields, federal governments, and civil ... The Federal Reserve Board is a regulating body that determines how United States will lend money by coordinating the banks and defining the value of the dollar. A Governor on the Federal Reserve board communicates with the twelve region s bank presidents, economic analysts, and their regional directors, and collectively define the dollar by selling long term and short term bonds that advance a percentage of the worth. Once an agreement has been made upon fraction percentage, banks are required to maintain that stated amount in a Federal Reservevault, or the bank s vault. The Federal Reserve loans temporary funds to the banks that do not meet the reserve requirement in the form of a short term loan, usually overnight. • 20. How Water And Sunlight Affects Plant Growth Review of Literature Introduction How Water and Sunlight Affect Plant Growth Photosynthesis is how water and sunlight affect plant growth. According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which chlorophyll containing plants make carbohydrates from water and from carbon dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This basically means photosynthesis is the process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed food and energy using sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight affects plant growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive energy and food. Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially humans. As stated before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and energy, which helps them grow and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for plants though. Plants produce various things we use in life such as wood, paper, food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce for us. They produce oxygen for all human life and other living things to breathe. Without photosynthesis there would be little plant life. Without plants there would be little human life. Therefore, photosynthesis is extremely vital for all forms of life. The process of photosynthesis is pretty complex. Sunlight and water are both very crucial elements of this process. All of this effort was exerted to prevent undesirable children from being born. It was justified by the assumption that unfit people aren t capable of adequate parenting; therefore their offspring would be a financial burden on society. Strong ideals and dogma were the weapons chosen by eugenicists to get involuntary sterilizationlegalized. Depending on who is in power politically at a given time, certain people in society are vulnerable to abuse. This author will focus on the topic of forced sterilization in America, as there are certain people in this country that are still coerced and forced into sterilization. All of this effort is exerted to protect society from the unfit, inferior and ultimately to improve the quality of the gene pool (Camporesi, 2015). The short story begins with a view of an apartment room where a woman is ironing. Her work is interrupted by a call asking for her help for understanding Emily, her first daughter. By recalling and gathering all memories between her and Emily, the narrator realizes that there are a lot of things which make her feel guilty and regretful about her daughter. • 28. Persuasive Speech On Sea Turtles Imagine a world of chaos. We see things like that all the time in movies, where zombies roam the earth and there are just those few main survivors left. The world is in ruins. If ocean life was to die out, there would be a collapse of civilization as a whole. Just like we see on TV, the world would become a place where no order exists. This would lead to human extinction. The ocean dies, we die along with it, and if sea turtles die, so does the ocean. In simple words, one could say that human life depends on sea turtles. In this speech I will be covering three topics. First, how a sea turtles diet benefits marine life and humans, second, how sea turtles provide homes and food for other species, and last, how sea turtles protect beaches from washing away. Sea turtles have been a big help in maintaining the health of the world s ocean for more than 100 million years. They help by keeping up coral reefs all the way to transporting nutrients to beaches. Major changes have occurred in oceans everywhere due to the decline of the sea turtle population. Oceans are unhealthy because of this. It is time for us to protect the sea turtles and rebuild their population to ensure healthy oceans in the future. According to oceana.org, there are seven species of sea turtles that roam the world, six of which inhabit U.S. waters, and have been listed as either endangered, or threatened. Up until now, all six of these species are not at a healthy level despite protection measures from the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Some populations even continue to decline. Even at a diminished population, sea turtles play an important role in ecosystems. They are also extremely important to humans because they keep oceans healthy, and we use the ocean as a food source. They keep up the health of the ocean in many different ways, all of which, are very important. Sea turtles are one of the few animals that eat sea grass. Just like normal lawn grass, sea grass needs to be constantly cut short to help it grow across the sea floor rather than just getting really long blades. Without constant grazing, sea grass beds obstruct currents and provide a suitable habitat for the growth of slime molds. Sea grass beds provide breeding grounds for many ... Several are working upon the use of electromagnetic pulses, specifically the electromagnetic gun (EM gun, rail gun, coil gun) as a way for new weaponry and advances in science. The rail gun is a machine, in which it uses electromagnetic wave to send objects far distances without a use of a fuse. Its makeup is of, usually, two parallel copper rails, connected to a power source, which must be enormous. Within the rails is a groove carved out to fit in a small projectile, which can be aluminum, graphite, or copper.[1] The way the gun works is that the power source sends an electric current up one rail, going through the projectile, and down the second rail. The result is a powerful magnetic field that causes the projectile to be thrown out of the barrel at high speeds. This phenomenon has been named Lorentz Force.[2] Due to the design of the rails, the projectile accelerates as it moves up the barrel. All you physics majors should know the result; that s right higher velocity and farther distance. It is necessary for rails and the projectile to be conductive, which is why they are of such materials. • 37. The Universality of the Marginalize Other through Irish Film Term Paper: The Universality of the Marginalized Other Through Irish Film Film has the unique ability to be both deeply personal and yet universal in nature. While national cinemas have the ability to define a country s national identity and presence in the world, they also have the ability to reach global audiences with universal themes that reverberate through the global consciousness and tell the stories of many around the world. Though themes of national identity and marginalized populations can seem to be specific to their national cultures and countries, the greater more universal themes of inequality and social strife can be found just below the surface, lending theses films a universal appeal. In Irish film the Travelling community has often taken center stage as both the subject of romantic notions of national identity as well as a symbol of contemporary social and economic policies and increased globalization of modern Ireland. When dealing with the Irish Travelling community as a symbol, the themes, issues, and concerns facing this population can become globalized and can come to represent larger issues facing global marginalized communities all over the world. This Universalist approach can be applied when dealing with the Irish films, Into the West (1993) and Pavee Lackeen (2005), as well as the British film Fish Tank (2009). Not only is the Travelling community present in each film, but also their presence can be seen as symbolizing something different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Screams could hint towards a specific idea or theory using symbolism. Although someone could argue that simple and hard to notice things like these could prove anything, more symbols pop up in the story. Even easy to notice things, like the lions, are overlooked. Not just symbolism is used to prove this theme. Imagery is used, maybe not as often, but adds so much more detail to the children s anger. The sun is almost always mentioned when anyone goes into the veldt, whether it s just the sun s presence, or it s radiating heat. Imagery and symbolism, even if they re not obvious, play a huge part in The Veldt, and describing the children s abomination for their parents. This concept is not as easy as it may appear; diversity is not just about acceptance and respect. Understanding what diversity is means understanding that each person is unique; it means understanding and recognising our differences; moreover, moving beyond differences of gender, race, age, religious beliefs and political beliefs. Understanding and managing diversityis trying to make sure that all those differences fit together like pieces of a mosaic. The concept is extremely important in today s society, following everything that has been happening related to this matter. We consider ourselves a tolerant and evolved society; yet we still hear of people of colour discriminated and killed everyday, we still hear of women living in horrible conditions, deprived of their dignity and sold as slaves. It appears obvious so, that diversity has to be taken into consideration when we talk about organisations. Everything that is happening in the world is reflected into firms too; organizations are, in fact, part of a wider social system. That is why managing diversity is possibly one of the hardest challenges that managers have to face in today s world. This essay is going to examine the concept of diversity in organisations today, why we have to consider it important and what kinds of advantages companies receive. But it is also affected by the person s ability to do the job and also by individual s perception of what the required task is. So performance is the responsible factor that leads to intrinsic as well as extrinsic rewards. These rewards, along with the equity of individual leadto satisfaction. The conclusions that can be drawn from this theory are: Individuals will only act when they have a reasonable expectation that their behaviour will lead to the desired outcome. Effort alone is not sufficient. It has to be accompanied by ability and skill. Job satisfaction results from effective job performance rather than the other way round. Job design is therefore of crucial importance as it affects the workers motivation directly. {text:list item} Personal Traits One variable that organisations are not able to affect directly is that which is intrinsic to the individual: the person s locus of control and, obviously, any other personality traits. The History Of Animals Being Domesticated The history of animals being domesticated starts as far back as 20,000 years ago, when large mammals such as bison roamed the tundra of Europe and Asia. They were hunted widely by two groups of hunters, both smaller and weaker than the bison, but both had sufficient developed social systems to allow them to hunt and kill in packs. These two hunters were the humans and the wolves. These two groups of hunters are surprisingly similar. Both are family based and led by a dominant male whose female partner has authority second to his. All of the members are friendly towards each other, but extremely suspicious of outsiders. All members are also protective of any newborn and young in the pack, and both are good at interpreting the moods of others, by facial expression or other forms of body language. On the side of the wolves, human ingenuity and the use of weapons mean a share in a greater number of kill, and maybe a taste of bigger pretty they couldn t take down alone, such as mammoths. On the side of humans, the speed of the wolves and ferocity is equivalent to a new weapon altogether. The partnership between the two is natural. It belongs to a series of Venus figurines of the Paleolithic period or Old Stone Age. This period was characterized by crude stone and bone weapons, cave paintings, and sculptures. The Venus was found in a small village of Austria called Willendorf, hence the name of the Venus. This groundbreaking discovery was made in 1908 by the archaeologist Josef Szombathy. However, it was not until 1990 when we were able to predict the time when the sculpture was carved. It is believed to have been made between 25,000 B.C.E and 20,000 B.C.E. The sculpture is only 4,4 inches tall and it is made of oolitic limestone, which is a carbonate rock commonly found in India, around the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean Islands, but not Austria. Therefore, archeologists believe that this sculpture was moved from its original place of creation. Continuing with that idea, because of the fact that the sculpture does not have defined feet so it is not able to stand and that it is small and malleable, historians believe that it was originally made to be carried around as a talisman or a sign of good luck, especially for fertility purposes. It is important to notice how the structure of this sculpture highlights some human features (breasts, belly, hips, vulva) while minimizing others, such as arms and legs.
