Similarities And Similarities Of Judaism
Religion for everyone can be quite different because there are many different forms that they can
take on. There are many different kinds such as Catholicism, Muslim, Christianity, Buddhism, and
many more. Often enough they have their own similarities, such as one God, same beliefs with
slightly different versions of praying or rituals and there are many other things of notice. The ones
that I wish to discuss are the religions Judaism, one of the larger groups in the world and a smaller
one known as Heathenry. The reason for me choosing these two is because they have a large
amount of differences just from the surface alone, some of the main ones being that they have
completely different size of followers. For Judaism, the size is in the millions while Heathenry is
the opposite and falls below 500,000. Another major factor is that Judaism only has one Godversus
how Heathenry has multiply as well as spirits. The main concepts that will be focused on Myths,
Rituals, religious practitioners or specialists and the altered states of consciousness, as well as
how they believe the world was created. The first one to be discussed is the major one first,
Judaism which is located around the world but started off in cities such as Jerusalem. Judaism had
a variety of moments, most were from Rabbinic Judaism, which says that God revealed his laws
and commandments to Moses. This was challenged by various other groups and provided splits,
one being Judaism.

The Diagram Above Shows Recreation, Sports, Tourism, And...
The diagram above shows recreation, leisure, sports, tourism, and parks as being interconnected,
with each possibly depending on each other for success. Recreation refers to an activity that in
individual participates in with a structured timeframe (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Leisure has
multiple meanings, one being Unobligated time, state of being, and consumption patterns, in
addition to occurring outside of working life (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Sport occurs during leisure
time, either as an active participant or as a spectator. Tourism refers to travel, particularly away
from home for a specific period of time. Parks are protected lands that are available for the
utilization of the public. Again, the diagram shows how each of these concepts may overlap. Yet,
even though these concepts can connect and overlap they can also exist individually.
The parks offer a place for leisure, recreation, sport, and tourism to take place. Some travel for the
sole purpose of touring our country s national parks and monuments during their leisure time. They
may choose this recreational activity to improve overall health and wellbeing, while also expanding
personal awareness and appreciation for our preserved land. Urban parks have been part of the
American fabric since the creation of the Boston Common in the mid seventeenth century and New
York s Central Park in the early nineteenth century ( Mclean, 2005, p. 172). It was during the
nineteenth century that our country

Burnout Self-Test
I work in a customer contact center with about 13 direct reports, who all speak with customers
throughout the day. Typically customers have an issue that needs resolving, which is why they
called into our customer service department. Dealing with a number of hostile customers can
produce a great amount of stress in a work environment, especially when these customers are
escalated to supervisors for assistance. However, the ability to handle stress is a technique that
has to be exercised when dealing with customers, because having that control will assist in
retaining customers and providing them quality customer service. My results from the burnout
self test revealed, little sign of burnout here, unless some factors are particularly severe ( Burnout
Test , n.d.). From taking the quiz, I learned that I am not as overwhelmed as I sometimes feel. I
take more control over outcomes than I feel that I do during stressful times. Sometimes when you
are in the mist of stressful times, you can not really gauge or determine how well you are dealing
with situations, but this test helped me but things into a better perspective. Future steps I will take
to ensure stress does not negatively affect my ability to be a productive and effective employee is to

Michelle Randall (2013) explains that delegating is a great way to ensure that more tasks get
done in less time, and it builds team capacity (Randall, 2013). Delegating helps relieve some
responsibilities in areas that do not require close supervision and the opportunity to focus on more
important tasks. Hopefully through delegating I am able to coach and develop my direct reports in
being quality customer service associates that are capable of deescalating issues in a non stressful
matter. Focusing on delegating will eventually create a less stressful environment for all and

Essay Pip s Great Expectations
In the novel, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, the main character Philip Pirrip, who is
known as Pip throughout the novel, has a series of great expectations that he goes through. The title
of the novel, as many other great book titles, comes with various meanings that are present in the
story. In the literal sense Pip s great expectationsrefer to the 19th century meaning, which involve
receiving a large inheritance. Meanwhile, on a deeper level Pip sets goals that he hopes to
accomplish in the future which could also be referred to as his great expectations . The title, with
these multiple meanings that are attached to it, ends up being ironic after all is said and done at the
end of the novel.

Pip then goes on to address the reader directly and explains that [t]hat was a memorable day to
[him], for it made great changes in [him], (Dickens 70). After meeting with Estella several times
and becoming extremely fond of her, despite her bipolar attitudes towards him, Ms. Havisham
suddenly decides to recompense Pip for his time and then tells him that he no longer has to
come back to the Satis House. Everyday after this, Pip continuously thinks of Estella and of how
he must become a gentleman in order to be at the same level as Estella and eventually marry her.
Another character Biddy (whose relationship to Pip is somewhat complicated) begins acting as
Pip s teacher and Pip says [w]hatever [he] acquired, [he] tried to impart to Joe, because [he]
wanted to make Joe less ignorant and common. Pip s plans to become a well mannered gentleman
to be worthy of high society and to be worthy of Estella s affection are two goals or great
expectations that Pip sets for himself that ultimately carry the plot of the novel along.
After being released from Ms. Havishams service, Pip becomes Joe s apprentice. Four years into
his apprenticeship, Pip is approached by a man who he vaguely remembers meeting once at the
Satis House. This man is Jaggers, a lawyer, who proceeds to tell Pip that an anonymous benefactor
has made Pip

The Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District...
One of the most well known Supreme Cases involving student rights was the Tinker v. Des
Moines Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent
for many other decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of
1965, students attending Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s
house to conduct a plan to show their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They
resolved to wear black armbands during the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and
on New Years. The principals at the school received word of the plan, and on December 14, they
established a policy that banned armbands in school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband
at a teacher s request would be suspended. However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and
Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore their armbands and were sent home. John
Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately sent home. None of them returned to
school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools for violating their children s right
to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the case, and the US Court of
Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the Supreme Court. The
children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their protesting of the war was
within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the bands did not

Importance Of Leadership In Public Administration
For centuries, leadership has been studied and used as a theme in many works of literature. The
Egyptians had the word leadership written in hieroglyphics. The Chinese studied and wrote about
the responsibilities of its leaders to the people. Homer, Plato, and Aristotle wrote about leadership in
their literature. Authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Seneca, and Plutarch wrote about leadershipas it
related to administration. (Bass Bass, 2008). By 1948, Stogdill was able find 128 studies of
leadership that he classified according to the traits of importance of leadership: capacity,
achievement, responsibility, participation, and status. (Bass Bass, 2008). Leadership will continue
to be studied as more questions arise about its importance in public administration.
Studying leadership is important in public administration because in organizations, effective
leadership provides higher quality and more efficient goods and services; it provides a sense of
cohesiveness, personal development, and higher levels of satisfaction among those conducting the
work. (Van Wart, 2003). The study of leadership in public administration is also important in that
public administrators have to be involved with many different levels the administrations. Because
of this involvement, they must be able to connect the different levels of the administration with
their leadership. Secondly, the leadership skills of a public administrator must be strong enough to
deal with the multifaceted

Proper Role Of Government
To define the proper role of government would depend on who is defining it. The founding
fathers saw the proper role of government is to protect inalienable rights equally for everyone .It
is not the government s job to give every citizen equal things , but it is their job to protect equal
rights for all. Bastiat defined it best when he stated, Life, liberty, and property do not exist
because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property
existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. . It comes down to it
basically that the proper role of any government is based on or limited to the rights of individual
citizens and what they do or do not have the right to do. It is not up to the government to per say,
take care of us as far as clothing, food housing, jobs etc. As individuals or make sure that those
things are divided equally among us but it is as stated their proper role to take care of our rights. .

The governments purpose is to improve and protect the lives of American citizens, both at home
and overseas and to work with together with national, state and local governments and in doing so
it has the ability to make different kinds of demands on its citizens one being to pay taxes. But this
is only to promote the general welfare of the society as a whole. However, the government does
have its limitations; they were put into place when the Constitution was drawn up. The Constitution
split the amount of power that there was between the three branches of government so that no one
branch had one hundred percent of the power over the people and that in turn would prevent
tyranny from any single branch. If the government was not limited in its powers, we would not be
afforded the liberties that we are entitled to and

Theme Of Companionship In A Separate Peace
During the time I was reading A Separate Peace and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night time, I realized the books actually more things in common than I would ve thought. One
way the two books are similar is how they both have a common theme, companionship. Another
common theme in both books is following the rules and how a lot of the characters chose to not
do so. One issue both books seem to share is the characters in each book seem to have a hard time
getting along with one another and communicating. While I was reading the two novels, they didn
t seem that similar to me, but once I finished the novels, I started to realize how alike they really are.
One common theme you can see through out the time of reading the two novels is companionship.
Companionship plays a big role in how the main characters act in each novel. In A Separate Peace,
companionship is demonstrated by Gene and Phineas becoming friends in the beginning of the
novel and having troubles, as friends, in the middle to late part of the novel. Gene and Phineas
being friends had a lot to do with most of their actions. Companionship is shown in The Curious
Incident of the Dog in the Night Time between Christopher and his dad, Ed. Ed triggered some
pretty serious events in the book and some of them were because of Christopher. For example, Ed
was the reason Christopher ran away to his mother because he was scared of his dad. Also, Ed lied
to Christopher about his mom being alive because he was trying to protect him. Companionship is
one of the multiple common themes between the two novels and I think it s pretty clearly
demonstrated in both.
Another common theme between the two books is following the rules and how quite a few
characters from each novel chose not to follow them. A lot of the characters in each novel break
the rules or do something that s just morally wrong like lying. In The Curious Incident of the
Dog in the Night Time, Christopher decides to keep investigating about the dog dying case even
after his father told him to stop investigating. Phineas breaks the rules in A Separate Peace when
he falls out of the tree hanging above the river and breaks his leg after he was told not to climb in
the tree

Blitzkrieg s Role In Ww2
The world changed forever on September 11, 1939 when German forces invaded Poland with
overwhelming military superiority and at a surprisingly quick pace. The World War II German
military tactic of Blitzkrieg was born that used a combination of tanks, infantry, and Luftwaffe dive
bombers to rapidly punch a hole in enemy lines. Blitzkrieg was first used in the invasion of Poland,
but was adopted as the common German invasion method across Europe and Russia. After Germany
s almost effortless victory over Poland, Time Magazine gave Blitzkrieg the name lightning war
(Rice 9). The term blitz means lightning and the term krieg means war . Although the Blitzkrieg
battle tactic led to rapid and successful German occupation in Europe, it... Show more content on

On June 22, 1941, Hitler sent 148 army divisions consisting of 3,350 tanks,7,100 cannons, 2,000
planes, and 3 million men to the Soviet border. Germany attacked Russia along an 1,800 mile
long front. In the beginning, Germany was very successful, and by the start of July Germany
had destroyed 1,000 Soviet aircrafts, 1,200 tanks, and 600 big guns and in addition had captured
150,000 Russian soldiers (Rice 30). The Blitzkrieg continued to roll into Moscow, the capital of
Russia, Moscow and it pushed Russian forces back 600 miles. However, suddenly the German
offensive seemed to take a toll for the worst. Germany made the mistake of only packing for a
month s worth of supplies and the rapid advance across Russia had spread the German tanks thin
and undersupplied. Also, the muddy terrain made it very hard for the tanks and other German
vehicles to advance. The Germans had underestimated the real strength and fortitude of the Soviet
Union army. Taking advantage of the turning momentum, the Soviet army began to repel the
undersupplied German army. Hitler s generals recommended they stop fighting until spring, but
Hitler declined the request and forced them to keep pushing through the winter. The main reason
Hitler forced his army to keep going was because he wanted the oil and the grain fields that
Leningrad and Moscow would give him. With all this happening, Hitler lost focus on his original
goal of destroying the Soviet Army. On December 6th, 1941, the Russians launched an
unexpected offensive along the two hundred mile front of Moscow. Many of the Germans couldn
t fight back because their automatic weapons were frozen and couldn t fire. The 100 Soviet
divisions struck the Nazis so badly, they never had time to recover. Nazi generals asked Hitler for
a retreat but he refused, and because of such poor decisions, he lost a majority of the

Introduction of Bancassurance
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF THE RESEARCH
Bancassurance is the selling of insurance and banking products through the same channel, most
commonly through bank branches selling insurance. The sales synergies available have been
sufficient to be used to justify mergers and acquisitions.
Some of the sales synergies come through the extensive customer base that banks have. Some come
from opportunities to sell insurance together with some banking products. For example, banks
generally insist on life insurance for mortgage borrowers. Although borrowers are not obliged to
buy insurance from the lender, many do as it is an easy option.

In fact, his widow is now seeking to bar Earnhardt s eldest son from another marriage, Kerry, from

Early Stages Of Dementia Essay
Each person may experience dementia in different ways. Fluctuation of needs and abilities It is
not fully known why somebody with dementia can have good days and bad days . Part of the
answer for this could be because we all have good and bad days. This very much depends on how
we are feeling, how much sleep we have had, what activity we are doing and how much we want
to do that activity. If you do not like doing something, it seems to take forever to get it over and
done with. The time drags and your level of boredom or uninterest rises. On the other hand, when
you are doing something you enjoy, the time rushes by so that before you know it the activity
comes to an end. This theory could also relate to the person with dementia. If the person... Show

have an effect on our memory. In the early stages of dementia, the person may be fully aware
that they have forgotten where they have put things. This can cause their stress levels to rise,
resulting in added memory difficulties, frustration and confusion. In these earlier stages it is
important for you as a care worker to give the person emotional support. Do not be tempted to
take over what they are having difficulty with. Help them to calm down and think about what they
are doing. The more the person becomes agitated, the greater their difficulties will become. As the
condition progresses, the more support the person will require. This will include support with day
to day activities. You can give support through reminding the person what they need to do. Do not
overload them as this will increase their stress and therefore their symptoms. If the person asks you

Northern India. When dadi days family, she meant the male lineage with all their wives and

Family acts as a support in many ways. Since everyone contributes to the household, the Dadi
treats everyone equally and when money is asked for any important purposes, the Dadi will
provide the money no matter how expensive it is. Also, Dadi mentions that the family can bear
anything, can suffer any lost because they suffer together. However, if one moves out, he is alone

dada work and make decisions together. Children do not have to work. However, if they leave the

Dell vs Hp
1. Introduction Both Dell and HP are two strong players in PC industry which refers to an
industry where companies produces PCs (desktops and notebooks), handheld devices (smart

performance differs. Dell, once the world s largest PC maker in 2001, has continually lost its
market share to HP and Acer since 2007 (Guglielmo 2009). The cause is rooted in two differences
of these companies: company diversifications and core competences. Therefore, how firms can

That Was No Accident
In the book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Dan experiences an accident on his motorcycle at his

was going to happen whether he thought he could prevent it or not.
During Dan s training to become a warrior Socrates often gave Dan advice that either did not
make sense at the time or Dan did not take seriously. On a particular day as Dan was saying good

Judgment in the House of Sand and Fog Essay
Judgment in the House of Sand and Fog People place judgment on one another every day based on
differences. Sometimes it is done subconsciously; sometimes it is done on purpose. In the book The
House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, two different cultures were represented; Kathy
represented the cultureof the western civilization, whereas Behrani represented the culture of
Persians. People judge one another based on unimportant things, and get judged based on those
same things as well. Two cultures were used to amplify how different their cultures were from one

the INS check out the Behrani family, and pull strings if necessary to get the Behranis out of the

passed out by both cultures show that all cultures function using judgment. In the reading The
Case for Contamination, Appiah states that some people like and some people don t like that
certain cultures have accepted being able to get a discussion going about Ronaldo, Mike Tyson

judge people who have accepted western civilizations, considering their identities threatened.
Different cultures possess different ideas of how people should present themselves. Appearance

Comparing Obama s Narrative And Myth
Narrative and myth are central in political rhetoric. It is essential for a politician to place
themselves as narrators (story tellers) and to be identified as a representation of this story,
because their primary goal is to persuade as many people as possible to choose them as their
leader. Two of the most effective types of narrative are ethnic and civic and were central to
Barak Obama s vision of a unified America, during his campaign. By telling his personal story,
which were ethnically and racially neutral in tone, Obama manages to steer clear of the racial
ethos as well as presenting his family as advocates of the American political principles (or
political ethos) of nationalism. His is a narrative of inclusion. His personal story reflects the
political myth of the American Creed (one in which America is united by its political beliefs,
regardless of religionor ethnicity) and puts forward widely held symbolic perspectives of American
nationalism, representing one s identity and loyalty to his/her nation.

The Extent to which You Think the Gothic Novel Represents...
To what extent do you think that the Gothic novel represents recognisably modern anxieties?
Since the 1800 s, vampires have often found their way into literature, legends, and popular culture.
The vampire s first appearance in Gothic fiction came from John Polidori s publication, The
Vampyre in 1819, and from then the fascination of the vampireand gothic literature as a whole
grew and can be viewed as a commentary on the period of time in which it was written. The strong
image of the vampire is a strong metaphor for communicating the zeitgeist of the time. By analysing
Bram Stoker s, Dracula (1897) and Sheridan Le Fanu s, Carmilla (1872), as both novels are very
important as they both helped mainstream vampire literature and created characters that have
remained popular for over a century. An examination into these texts and the significance of the
vampire on modern anxieties and anxieties of the time can be understood. In order to do this an
analysis will be placed upon the main themes within both texts, such as degeneration, patriarchy,
gender and class.
The use of vampires within Carmilla and Dracula can be seen as significant in representing
colonialism and the worries of degeneration that were established towards the Fin de siГЁcle of the
nineteenth century. Both texts present the hierarchy of civilisations through binary opposites such
as the West being presented as good and light, and the unknown and mysterious East being
described as negative, mysterious and

Primary Peritoniitis
The abdominal cavity is the largest hollow space in the human body and contains the liver,
pancreas, spleen, kidneys and adrenal glands, and the digestive tract. The cavity is lined by a thin,
silk like membrane called the peritoneum which covers the inside wall of the abdominal cavity and
every organ or structure contained in it. A common affliction of the abdominal cavity is peritonitis,
which is an inflammation of the peritoneum membrane caused by the introduction of a fungal or
bacterial infection in an otherwise sterile environment. The infection is often caused by an
abdominal injury that creates a rupture (perforation) within the abdominal cavity, or may arise from

Primary peritonitis is an infection that develops in the abdominal (ascitic) fluid of the peritoneal
cavity. It is mostly seen in patients suffering from advanced liver disease with cirrhosis, where
abdominal fluid builds up (ascites) in the peritoneal cavity and may become infected. Although rare
in the absence of a perforation, there are many underlying conditions that can contribute to the
growth of bacteria in the ascitic fluid. This type is called spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and is the
most common reason of primary peritonitis. Factors that increase risk of primary peritonitis include
medical procedures like peritoneal dialysis, medical conditions such as cirrhosis, kidney failure, and
heart disease, and patient history of peritonitis. However, in most cases the type of infection that
develops is secondary peritonitis, which is usually caused by an infection that has spread from the
digestive tract after trauma or perforation of the abdominal viscera that allows infectious organisms
to contaminate the sterile environment of the peritoneal cavity. Most common causes of secondary
peritonitis include injury or trauma to the peritoneum, a ruptured appendix, or stomach ulcer,
digestive diseases such as Crohn s Disease, and diverticulitis, perforations of the stomach, or
intestines, and abdominal trauma such as injury from a knife or gunshot wound. Both types of
peritonitis are life threatening, and when left untreated can enter into the bloodstream spreading the
infection throughout the entire body leading to shock and organ

Realism in Uncle Vanya and a Doll s House
A play serves as the author s tool for critiquing society. One rarely encounters the ability to
transcend accepted social beliefs. These plays reflect controversial issues that the audience can

playwrights point out the flaws of mankind they also provide an answer to the controversy.
Unknowingly the hero or heroine solves the problem at the end of the play and indirectly sends a

Nurse Leader
Leadership does not always come with a title or prestige. Every nurse has within themselves
qualities that make them a great leader. Leadership by definition, is a combination of intrinsic

The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and utilities in the U.S.

percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity
utilization since June 2008. (Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more
efficiently, manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory space
are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within the United States.
However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means because most of the data suggests this
is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t changed any aspects of business. Although, if this
upward trend continues, we can expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more
made in the US products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t

A person is running for governor of New York. He steps onto the stage and gives his speech. He

Some are pleased, some unconcerned, others upset. The candidate could tell that he lost some of

Global Assessment of Biodiversity and the Anthropogenic...
The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent
priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction,
trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic
threats that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more
frequently, conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat
destruction, in comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional
biodiversity assessments often ignore huntingpressure though they are aware of its presence, or
classify into ways (e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other
researchers (Galetti Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure
by one biologist can be classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the
hunting classifications of a biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low
hunting pressure? The use of different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here
we ask how to measure the intensity of hunting pressure. Knowing this answer will help us better
understand the effects of hunting on biodiversity loss and set conservation priorities more
efficiently. Flight initiation distance (FID) is the distance between prey and the predator/hunter

five days. This are the things what happened in five days
First day, in the morning, athletes gathered the front of statue of Zeus and swore not to cheat on
the game and it followed to running, wrestling and boxing for boys. But, it wasn t really official
events. In the afternoon, some people made some speeches. The men would make offerings to a
god Zeus, Hermes, Apollo, or Hercules. They prayed for victory Today s Olympics also have a

leaded after by the sacrifice of hundred oxen to god Zeus. Modern days, we have lots of events on
day three. On the other hand, this day was to sacrifice of hundred oxen. In the evening, a great
public banquet was held. In there, athletes brought their families and any other guests they want, to
enjoy the feast. They feasted on meat and enjoyed the lavish foods the Greek city representatives
had brought.
On next day, which is fourth day, it was focused on combat sports such as wrestling, boxing,
pankration* and running full armour. It begun with wresting. It was the first events in combat
sports, and also first official event in Olympics. In wresting, they did some movements to make
their competitor fall down. Whenever a person fall 3 times, they considered lost. In Greek
myths, it is said that heroes were often typically good at wrestling. At mid day, there were quite
lots of hurts after wresting. Because this sports is quite aggressive and extreme, some people
were even killed during games. Boxers normally focused on opponent s head and face. The fast
footwork was necessary for competitor to avoid many hits as possible. The final combat event of
the fourth day was the pankration, which is meaning all strength in Greece language. Pankration is
combined of boxing and wrestling at same time. Their goal was to make

Are Video Games Art No But Playing Them Can Be Summary
In response to the article titled, Are Video Games Art? No But Playing Them Can Be, by author
Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that
engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa
and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff
he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games
have a big influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS,
we wouldn t be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion
have so much creativity in them that they should be considered as art.
Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of
things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup,
in which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning
that all those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it.
Many people around the world are influenced and engaged with the dialogue of art, trying to find
a deep meaning to them, just like they are engaged in most video games in the same way. There is
a lot of controversy with people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was very structured and well put together, but in the end, I don t agree with most of the things
he says. I believe that if video games can tell a story and make the players feel like they got
something out of it, just like how art does as well, then why is there such a big controversy over
this topic? The way I see it, and how I will continue to see it, is that video games is just like art due
to the emotions it brings to players, and by me saying that it s like art, I think it s safe to say that
in a way, it is

Budweiser Ad Analysis Essay
One day of the year Americans tend to appreciate the advertisements interrupting their television
program a little more than others. This day is known as Super Bowl Sunday. These
advertisements are some of the most watched ads each year. One ad that a lot of people look
forward to seeing is the Budweiser ad. They are most famous for their beautiful Clydesdale
horses. They are usually the main stars in their ads. Last year Budweiser decided to use a
sentimental approach with the ad Lost dog . Even though it received a huge amount of attention
they decided to take a completely different approach this year. The ad this year Never back down

Unlike Lost dog this ad was not created to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. It is much
more intense and rugged. The feelings intended for the costumer to get while watching this are
pumped up or excited to try their product. The target for this ad would be for more for younger
adults. The ad maximized all of their strengths by pointing out what their company is not. It
promotes their product and company instead of providing a short story. The clips used are only
shown for a few seconds each and feature a Budweiser product or costumer using the product.
The activities the customers are engaging in are all in an intense atmospheres. For example a
rock concert, teammates after winning a big game, or friends out having fun. All the clips
chosen portray how wild and fun Budweiser can be. The words describing what they are not are
plain white, all caps, and in the middle of the screen. By describing what they are not Budweiser
was saying what they actually are. This would be a big successful company that knows what they
are doing. The ad also made it clear that Budweiser is made by hard working Americans. This is
something that may appeal to consumers that prefer buying American made products. The ad
portrays Budweiser as a very confident dominating company. It also portrays that drinking
Budweiser means having more

Analysis Of Lee s The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
At the age of 1 to 16, there is one odd girl who had turned my world upside down. Daphne Lee
was born on February 5th, 1997. She lived in Colorado with her parents and little brother. From the
outside, she seems completely ordinary, but not so much on the inside. She does not have any
problems mentally or physically, though I am surprised she does not. She has changed my
perspective on everything. Her obligation to rainbowbunnies can be a bit bizarre, but her persona
is wonderful and bright if you are ever in need of some sunshine. Her actions can be embarrassing
and troublesome, but that is what makes her different from the rest of the world.
When we were little, she would always want to eat skittles, play bunny games, explore as she ...

Even during the summer, she will wear them with her sandals. Nothing looks wrong with her
feet, she just really loves socks. They are not the ordinary kinds of socks, though. Sadly they are
the kiddy kind. She has two drawers filled entirely with them. From my perspective, it seems like
she has enough to last her for two years. Periodically she chooses to speak a different language.
One day she speaks English, the next day Spanish, etc. and gibberish eventually. Her taste in
music is very interesting because she seemed like the kind of person who liked happy songs, but
she actually likes very dark music such as metal and screamo. My cousin is very different from
our other relatives I have met, yet that is what I like about her.
In public, she gets really crazy. Not just a little crazy but hyper crazy. She is constantly up and
about. She is not afraid to blare her music for the whole world to hear. People are usually looking
over their shoulders, their attention to the creepy dancing ballerina bunny. I try to keep my
distance. When there is candy involved, there is more crazy to come. She gets as mad as a
hatter; Singing, skipping, hopping, and running around in circles. When nonsense talking
becomes involved, I usually speed walk to the car while she runs to catch up to me with her
bunny ears flopping up and down. The positive side of this crazy girl is that people get to have a
good laugh. Her feelings will not

What Does Tiresias Represent In Twelfth Night
Tiresias first appeared during the play in scene 5. In page 1098, he entered the stage and had a
conversation with Creon in this scene. In the mask, Tiresias eyes appear entirely blue. However,
we know that Tiresias is blind when the stage directions said so in the beginning of the scene
(enter blind Tiresias, led by a boy). Despite knowing that he is blind, I chose that his eyes appear
entirely blue. This is because the color blue filling Tiresias s eyes represent the ocean. The
ocean here symbolizes life. Life can be harsh like the crashing waves of the ocean while other
times it can be stable like the calm waves. Tiresias is a blind prophet who can deliver prophecies
that will happen in the future; therefore, he can see life. Tiresias said,

The Electra Complex In Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Most girls look for a man like their father or brothers. This is usually because they have known
them to provide security and stability, but occasionally the child develops an Electra Complex. This
is a girl s unconscious, psychosexual competition with her mother for possession of her father,
while also knowing she needs her motheras well. This comes into play in Sylvia Plath s poem
Daddy, when the speaker paints a wicked impression of her father, yet is infatuated enough to
marry a man who she has made to model her father. The speaker spends her whole youth looking
up to her father only to be robbed of her Electra Complex by the truth of her father s conduct.
The speaker struggles within herself between the love for her father, and her hatred for him. As
a child, your parents are your hero, who should provide you with everything a child needs to be
successful, but because he had died, she was left on her own with this battle inside her. She hated
her father for being a Nazi and torturing the Jews. The speaker was stuck in her past, and her
father had created a generation rut, making another generation of evil. Children always search for
acceptance and approval from their parents, yet the speaker was only given the voice of her father
within her head. She blamed him for the evil within herself, and at the age of twenty, she tried to
commit suicide to kill the part of him in her. Unsuccessful in her attempt, she was pulled from the
sack and glued back together, never being completely full again. At this time, she had an epiphany:
She needed to find a husband. One who thoroughly resembled her father, down to the love of the
rack and screw. At this time, she was no longer a victim and converted to the predator. She modeled
her husband after her father so that she could then, essentially, murder her father finally. Therefore,
she had turned into her father.
On the other hand, her father died when she was ten and she still saw him as this massive man
standing at the blackboard with a cleft chin and a soft heart, but as she grew older, she became
more aware of her father s truth. He was a Nazi who spent his days working to round up Jews and
working under Hitler. For the rest of her life, she racked her brain

Walmart Smart Inventory System Essay
Arnold Zio
BUS 362 Spring, Miller
Wal Mart S.M.A.R.T System
I live close to a walmart in Burtonsville MD, so I decided to write this Paper on their Inventory
System. Wal mart, the wholesale retail monopoly, focused on developing an RFID based electronic
product code, or EPC. The electronic code would allow businesses to track shipments and inventory
automatically through a system of tags and sensors. It was a potential replacement for the manual
scanning of bar codes, a technology that itself revolutionized retail two decades earlier. Given the
nearly non existent cost of bar codes relative to RFID, several in the industry said, the EPC was a
solution in search of a problem. Wal Mart view RFID technology in their SMART system as a...

With the Telxon, price changes for each item can be implemented only three times a day with the
current system and processes. Wal Mart is testing LCD shelf tags from NCR that are powered and
controlled by infrared light units on the ceiling and can be changed in real time, concurrent with
changes at the point of sale registers.
The Strengths of The SMART Inventory System are, the actual database has to be enormous.
There are so many products that the Wal Mart keeps track of. All of which must be in the same
database because products they don t carry will still scan and give all the detailed information of
those Products. This is helpful because it allows people to return products from a Mega Wal Mart
that carries a much larger stock than a regular Wal Mart. Other Strengths are that the SMART
system is linked to the cash registers. When a product is sold, inventory is updated automatically.
On hand counts are updated and on some products they are reordered automatically, depending on
how many are left. With in addition to the RFID technology.
Wal mart uses smart tag sensors on garments to track better inventory controls, Wal Mart workers
will be able to quickly learn, which size of a particular brand product is missing, with the aim of
ensuring shelves are optimally stocked and inventory

Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Broderip
v Salomon) Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd [1897] AC 22 is a landmark1 UK company law case.
The effect of the Lords unanimous 2 ruling was to uphold 3firmly the doctrine4 of corporate
personality, as set out in the Companies Act 1862, so that creditors of an insolvent company could
not sue the company s shareholders to pay up outstanding debts. Facts[edit] MrAron Salomon made

The company in this case has been regarded by Vaughan Williams J. as the agent of Aron
Salomon. I should rather liken the company to a trustee for him a trustee improperly 20 brought
into existence by him to enable him to do what the statute prohibits. It is manifest 21 that the
other members of the company have practically no interest in it, and their names have merely
been used by Mr.Aron Salomon to enable him to form a company, and to use its name in order
to screen himself from liability. This view of the case is quite consistent with In re George
Newman Co.[4] In a strict legal sense the business may have to be regarded as the business of
the company; but if any jury were asked, Whose business was it? they would say Aron Salomon
s, and they would be right, if they meant that the beneficial interest in the business was his. I do
not go so far as to say that the creditors of the company could sue him. In my opinion, they can
only reach him through the company. Moreover, Mr.Aron Salomon s liability to indemnify the
company in this case is, in my view, the legal consequence of the formation of the company in
order to attain a result not permitted by law. The liability does not arise simply from the fact that
he holds nearly all the shares in the company. A man may do that and yet be under no such
liability as Mr.Aron Salomon has come under. His liability rests on the purpose for which he
formed the company, on the way he formed it, and on

Symbolism In An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
During times of war, it was common for betrayal and sabotage among the opposing sides. That
was the case between the North and South during the Civil War. Peyton Farquhar, supporting the
South, wants to help as much as possible, so when someone he believes to be on his side informs
him on how he could sabotage the North, he immediately takes action. What Farquhar does not
know is that the federal scout sets him up to get caught and hanged as an example and warning to
others on Owl Creek Bridge. He imagines escaping and getting home to his wife while in the
noose, although the events are all in his head. In the short story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
, Ambrose Bierce uses symbolism and point of view to explain how the absurdity of war can
derange one s deception of time and reality. Bierce utilizes several objects to symbolize Farquhar
s journey from reality to fantasy due to consequences of war on individuals. Owl Creek Bridge is
where the story, except for the flashback, takes place. Farquhar gets caught there, hanged there, and
he dies there. The bridge serves as an intermediary between the two river banks, his freedom, and a
transition point in his mindas he deserts reality. The point when he begins to day dream is when he
believes that he escapes from the hanging, As Peyton Farquhar fell straight downward through the
bridge... From this state he was awakened ages later (Bierce 470). From this description, Farquhar
loses the ability to determine time; he

Planning the Research Design The majority of UDT s market research will be done with
secondary data, and a suggestion of using a primary data source to help define more of UDT s
market. Secondary Data. This source of data will be collected from government departments and
agencies, and also competition in the car sharing market. The secondary data will be used to
assist in answering the research questions. Market research information was done on two car
sharing businesses currently operating in the US and globally, they are: Zipcar and Enterprise.
Location Demographics. UDT should look to the Western Hemisphere of Ottawa, Canada to
expand its car sharing program. Ottawa has a population of 870,250 people and has
approximately two thirds of the population of the greater Ottawa Gatineau area for a combined
total of 1,282,500 people. Ottawa s population continues to grow faster than Ontario or Canada. A
competitor of UDT, Zipcar, currently has a strong market placement in Vancouver, and Toronto
which would make it more difficult to get a piece of the market. Ottawa has 4 different post

How Did Gorbachev Influence The Soviet-American Government
The year was 1989, and the Americans had just elected their 41st President of the United States:
George H. W. Bush. As the former Vice President, Bush was well acquainted with the ongoing
conflict he was inheriting from the Reagan administration between the Soviet Union and the United
States. He was also cognizant of the man on the other side of the strife, Mikhail Gorbachev, leader
of the Soviet Union. Gorbachev was thought to be a relatively revolutionary character; he was less
of a hardliner and more open to change and influence from the West. Despite this, Bush had his
reservations; he ordered a comprehensive review of the Soviet American relationship shortly after
assuming office. In the report, the US National Security Advisor, Brent... Show more content on

Inequality In Jane Eyre
I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte,
Jane Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman,
like many others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she
wrote about her hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many
similarities in her main character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how
Victorian women were expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues
her portrayal of the inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of
her poems, Life and The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in
the Victorian eraby taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a
journey of discovery of love or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships
from a young age, and rather than letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte
experienced loss at a young age, losing her mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated
almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays
her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see many of her misfortunes paraphrased
into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school, Lowood, where they believe in plain
fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy and active habits to teach
young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte herself was sent to
Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to, and the
school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all they
could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers
know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live
through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard
times, making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband
(Bronte). This can be taken as a poem Bronte wrote

  • 2. Similarities And Similarities Of Judaism Religion for everyone can be quite different because there are many different forms that they can take on. There are many different kinds such as Catholicism, Muslim, Christianity, Buddhism, and many more. Often enough they have their own similarities, such as one God, same beliefs with slightly different versions of praying or rituals and there are many other things of notice. The ones that I wish to discuss are the religions Judaism, one of the larger groups in the world and a smaller one known as Heathenry. The reason for me choosing these two is because they have a large amount of differences just from the surface alone, some of the main ones being that they have completely different size of followers. For Judaism, the size is in the millions while Heathenry is the opposite and falls below 500,000. Another major factor is that Judaism only has one Godversus how Heathenry has multiply as well as spirits. The main concepts that will be focused on Myths, Rituals, religious practitioners or specialists and the altered states of consciousness, as well as how they believe the world was created. The first one to be discussed is the major one first, Judaism which is located around the world but started off in cities such as Jerusalem. Judaism had a variety of moments, most were from Rabbinic Judaism, which says that God revealed his laws and commandments to Moses. This was challenged by various other groups and provided splits, one being Judaism. The first topic to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Diagram Above Shows Recreation, Sports, Tourism, And... The diagram above shows recreation, leisure, sports, tourism, and parks as being interconnected, with each possibly depending on each other for success. Recreation refers to an activity that in individual participates in with a structured timeframe (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Leisure has multiple meanings, one being Unobligated time, state of being, and consumption patterns, in addition to occurring outside of working life (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Sport occurs during leisure time, either as an active participant or as a spectator. Tourism refers to travel, particularly away from home for a specific period of time. Parks are protected lands that are available for the utilization of the public. Again, the diagram shows how each of these concepts may overlap. Yet, even though these concepts can connect and overlap they can also exist individually. The parks offer a place for leisure, recreation, sport, and tourism to take place. Some travel for the sole purpose of touring our country s national parks and monuments during their leisure time. They may choose this recreational activity to improve overall health and wellbeing, while also expanding personal awareness and appreciation for our preserved land. Urban parks have been part of the American fabric since the creation of the Boston Common in the mid seventeenth century and New York s Central Park in the early nineteenth century ( Mclean, 2005, p. 172). It was during the nineteenth century that our country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Burnout Self-Test I work in a customer contact center with about 13 direct reports, who all speak with customers throughout the day. Typically customers have an issue that needs resolving, which is why they called into our customer service department. Dealing with a number of hostile customers can produce a great amount of stress in a work environment, especially when these customers are escalated to supervisors for assistance. However, the ability to handle stress is a technique that has to be exercised when dealing with customers, because having that control will assist in retaining customers and providing them quality customer service. My results from the burnout self test revealed, little sign of burnout here, unless some factors are particularly severe ( Burnout Test , n.d.). From taking the quiz, I learned that I am not as overwhelmed as I sometimes feel. I take more control over outcomes than I feel that I do during stressful times. Sometimes when you are in the mist of stressful times, you can not really gauge or determine how well you are dealing with situations, but this test helped me but things into a better perspective. Future steps I will take to ensure stress does not negatively affect my ability to be a productive and effective employee is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michelle Randall (2013) explains that delegating is a great way to ensure that more tasks get done in less time, and it builds team capacity (Randall, 2013). Delegating helps relieve some responsibilities in areas that do not require close supervision and the opportunity to focus on more important tasks. Hopefully through delegating I am able to coach and develop my direct reports in being quality customer service associates that are capable of deescalating issues in a non stressful matter. Focusing on delegating will eventually create a less stressful environment for all and hopefully increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay Pip s Great Expectations In the novel, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, the main character Philip Pirrip, who is known as Pip throughout the novel, has a series of great expectations that he goes through. The title of the novel, as many other great book titles, comes with various meanings that are present in the story. In the literal sense Pip s great expectationsrefer to the 19th century meaning, which involve receiving a large inheritance. Meanwhile, on a deeper level Pip sets goals that he hopes to accomplish in the future which could also be referred to as his great expectations . The title, with these multiple meanings that are attached to it, ends up being ironic after all is said and done at the end of the novel. Pip comes from a lower class ... After meeting with Estella several times and becoming extremely fond of her, despite her bipolar attitudes towards him, Ms. Havisham suddenly decides to recompense Pip for his time and then tells him that he no longer has to come back to the Satis House. Everyday after this, Pip continuously thinks of Estella and of how he must become a gentleman in order to be at the same level as Estella and eventually marry her. Another character Biddy (whose relationship to Pip is somewhat complicated) begins acting as Pip s teacher and Pip says [w]hatever [he] acquired, [he] tried to impart to Joe, because [he] wanted to make Joe less ignorant and common. Pip s plans to become a well mannered gentleman to be worthy of high society and to be worthy of Estella s affection are two goals or great expectations that Pip sets for himself that ultimately carry the plot of the novel along. After being released from Ms. Havishams service, Pip becomes Joe s apprentice. Four years into his apprenticeship, Pip is approached by a man who he vaguely remembers meeting once at the Satis House. • 6. The Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District... One of the most well known Supreme Cases involving student rights was the Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent for many other decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of 1965, students attending Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s house to conduct a plan to show their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They resolved to wear black armbands during the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and on New Years. The principals at the school received word of the plan, and on December 14, they established a policy that banned armbands in school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband at a teacher s request would be suspended. However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore their armbands and were sent home. John Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately sent home. None of them returned to school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools for violating their children s right to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the case, and the US Court of Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the Supreme Court. The children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their protesting of the war was within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the bands did not ... • 7. Importance Of Leadership In Public Administration For centuries, leadership has been studied and used as a theme in many works of literature. The Egyptians had the word leadership written in hieroglyphics. The Chinese studied and wrote about the responsibilities of its leaders to the people. Homer, Plato, and Aristotle wrote about leadership in their literature. Authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Seneca, and Plutarch wrote about leadershipas it related to administration. (Bass Bass, 2008). By 1948, Stogdill was able find 128 studies of leadership that he classified according to the traits of importance of leadership: capacity, achievement, responsibility, participation, and status. (Bass Bass, 2008). Leadership will continue to be studied as more questions arise about its importance in public administration. Studying leadership is important in public administration because in organizations, effective leadership provides higher quality and more efficient goods and services; it provides a sense of cohesiveness, personal development, and higher levels of satisfaction among those conducting the work. (Van Wart, 2003). The study of leadership in public administration is also important in that public administrators have to be involved with many different levels the administrations. Because of this involvement, they must be able to connect the different levels of the administration with their leadership. Secondly, the leadership skills of a public administrator must be strong enough to deal with the multifaceted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Proper Role Of Government To define the proper role of government would depend on who is defining it. The founding fathers saw the proper role of government is to protect inalienable rights equally for everyone .It is not the government s job to give every citizen equal things , but it is their job to protect equal rights for all. Bastiat defined it best when he stated, Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. . It comes down to it basically that the proper role of any government is based on or limited to the rights of individual citizens and what they do or do not have the right to do. It is not up to the government to per say, take care of us as far as clothing, food housing, jobs etc. As individuals or make sure that those things are divided equally among us but it is as stated their proper role to take care of our rights. . The governments purpose is to improve and protect the lives of American citizens, both at home and overseas and to work with together with national, state and local governments and in doing so it has the ability to make different kinds of demands on its citizens one being to pay taxes. But this is only to promote the general welfare of the society as a whole. However, the government does have its limitations; they were put into place when the Constitution was drawn up. The Constitution split the amount of power that there was between the three branches of government so that no one branch had one hundred percent of the power over the people and that in turn would prevent tyranny from any single branch. If the government was not limited in its powers, we would not be afforded the liberties that we are entitled to and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Theme Of Companionship In A Separate Peace During the time I was reading A Separate Peace and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, I realized the books actually more things in common than I would ve thought. One way the two books are similar is how they both have a common theme, companionship. Another common theme in both books is following the rules and how a lot of the characters chose to not do so. One issue both books seem to share is the characters in each book seem to have a hard time getting along with one another and communicating. While I was reading the two novels, they didn t seem that similar to me, but once I finished the novels, I started to realize how alike they really are. One common theme you can see through out the time of reading the two novels is companionship. Companionship plays a big role in how the main characters act in each novel. In A Separate Peace, companionship is demonstrated by Gene and Phineas becoming friends in the beginning of the novel and having troubles, as friends, in the middle to late part of the novel. Gene and Phineas being friends had a lot to do with most of their actions. Companionship is shown in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time between Christopher and his dad, Ed. Ed triggered some pretty serious events in the book and some of them were because of Christopher. For example, Ed was the reason Christopher ran away to his mother because he was scared of his dad. Also, Ed lied to Christopher about his mom being alive because he was trying to protect him. Companionship is one of the multiple common themes between the two novels and I think it s pretty clearly demonstrated in both. Another common theme between the two books is following the rules and how quite a few characters from each novel chose not to follow them. A lot of the characters in each novel break the rules or do something that s just morally wrong like lying. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Christopher decides to keep investigating about the dog dying case even after his father told him to stop investigating. Phineas breaks the rules in A Separate Peace when he falls out of the tree hanging above the river and breaks his leg after he was told not to climb in the tree ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Blitzkrieg s Role In Ww2 The world changed forever on September 11, 1939 when German forces invaded Poland with overwhelming military superiority and at a surprisingly quick pace. The World War II German military tactic of Blitzkrieg was born that used a combination of tanks, infantry, and Luftwaffe dive bombers to rapidly punch a hole in enemy lines. Blitzkrieg was first used in the invasion of Poland, but was adopted as the common German invasion method across Europe and Russia. After Germany s almost effortless victory over Poland, Time Magazine gave Blitzkrieg the name lightning war (Rice 9). The term blitz means lightning and the term krieg means war . Although the Blitzkrieg battle tactic led to rapid and successful German occupation in Europe, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On June 22, 1941, Hitler sent 148 army divisions consisting of 3,350 tanks,7,100 cannons, 2,000 planes, and 3 million men to the Soviet border. Germany attacked Russia along an 1,800 mile long front. In the beginning, Germany was very successful, and by the start of July Germany had destroyed 1,000 Soviet aircrafts, 1,200 tanks, and 600 big guns and in addition had captured 150,000 Russian soldiers (Rice 30). The Blitzkrieg continued to roll into Moscow, the capital of Russia, Moscow and it pushed Russian forces back 600 miles. However, suddenly the German offensive seemed to take a toll for the worst. Germany made the mistake of only packing for a month s worth of supplies and the rapid advance across Russia had spread the German tanks thin and undersupplied. Also, the muddy terrain made it very hard for the tanks and other German vehicles to advance. The Germans had underestimated the real strength and fortitude of the Soviet Union army. Taking advantage of the turning momentum, the Soviet army began to repel the undersupplied German army. Hitler s generals recommended they stop fighting until spring, but Hitler declined the request and forced them to keep pushing through the winter. The main reason Hitler forced his army to keep going was because he wanted the oil and the grain fields that Leningrad and Moscow would give him. With all this happening, Hitler lost focus on his original goal of destroying the Soviet Army. On December 6th, 1941, the Russians launched an unexpected offensive along the two hundred mile front of Moscow. Many of the Germans couldn t fight back because their automatic weapons were frozen and couldn t fire. The 100 Soviet divisions struck the Nazis so badly, they never had time to recover. Nazi generals asked Hitler for a retreat but he refused, and because of such poor decisions, he lost a majority of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction of Bancassurance CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF THE RESEARCH Bancassurance is the selling of insurance and banking products through the same channel, most commonly through bank branches selling insurance. The sales synergies available have been sufficient to be used to justify mergers and acquisitions. Some of the sales synergies come through the extensive customer base that banks have. Some come from opportunities to sell insurance together with some banking products. For example, banks generally insist on life insurance for mortgage borrowers. Although borrowers are not obliged to buy insurance from the lender, many do as it is an easy option. Credit cards and personal loans create opportunities for banks to sell ... Fluctuation of needs and abilities It is not fully known why somebody with dementia can have good days and bad days . Part of the answer for this could be because we all have good and bad days. If you do not like doing something, it seems to take forever to get it over and done with. The time drags and your level of boredom or uninterest rises. Two of the most effective types of narrative are ethnic and civic and were central to Barak Obama s vision of a unified America, during his campaign. He talks about all the wonderful things he will do and the changes he will make. Most of the people in the audience nod their heads and clap. A few minutes later, cheers go up from the crowd as he announces his plans for the city. Everything is perfect, until he mentions his religion. You can sense unease in the crowd. We all have freedom of religion though, so not everyone is much concerned, but then the candidate announces more changes he would make, changes that were obviously influenced by his religion. The reaction from the crowd varies from person to person. Some are pleased, some unconcerned, others upset. The candidate could tell that he lost some of his supporters. Should people decide whom to vote for by what religion someone has? Should an elected official make choices based on their religion? A person s faith, assuming that they actually stick to it, says a lot about what that person would do and what that person would defend and protect. It also says a lot about what character the person may have when it comes to truthfulness and kindness. • 35. Hurricane Sandy Essay HURRICANE SANDY Hurricane Sandy was a tropical cyclone that devastated portions of the Caribbean, Mid Atlantic and Northeastern United States in late October 2012. The eighteenth named storm and tenth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, Sandy was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, as measured by diameter, with winds spanning 1,100 miles. Sandy is estimated in early calculations to have caused damage of at least $20 billion. It is having various political effects in the United States especially in terms of the general election scheduled for November 6, 2012. Hurricane Sandy developed at 1500 UTC on October 22, when the National Hurricane Center initiated advisories on Tropical Depression Eighteen to the south of Kingston, Jamaica. The system developed from an area of low pressure and had organized convection. It moved slowly at first due to a ridge to the north. Low wind shear and warm waters allowed for strengthening, and the system became Tropical Storm Sandy late on October 22. Early on October 24, an eye began developing, and it was moving steadily northward due to an approaching trough. Later that day, the NHC upgraded Sandy to hurricane status about 65 mi south of Kingston, Jamaica. At about 1900 UTC that day, Sandy made landfall near Kingston with winds of about 80 mph. Just offshore Cuba, Sandy rapidly intensified to winds of 110 mph, and at that intensity it made landfall just west of Santiago de Cuba at 0525 UTC on October 25. The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction, trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic threats that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more frequently, conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat destruction, in comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional biodiversity assessments often ignore huntingpressure though they are aware of its presence, or classify into ways (e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other researchers (Galetti Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure by one biologist can be classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the hunting classifications of a biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low hunting pressure? The use of different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here we ask how to measure the intensity of hunting pressure. No But Playing Them Can Be, by author Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games have a big influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS, we wouldn t be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion have so much creativity in them that they should be considered as art. Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup, in which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning that all those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it. • 46. The Electra Complex In Sylvia Plath s Daddy Most girls look for a man like their father or brothers. This is usually because they have known them to provide security and stability, but occasionally the child develops an Electra Complex. This is a girl s unconscious, psychosexual competition with her mother for possession of her father, while also knowing she needs her motheras well. This comes into play in Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy, when the speaker paints a wicked impression of her father, yet is infatuated enough to marry a man who she has made to model her father. The speaker spends her whole youth looking up to her father only to be robbed of her Electra Complex by the truth of her father s conduct. The speaker struggles within herself between the love for her father, and her hatred for him. As a child, your parents are your hero, who should provide you with everything a child needs to be successful, but because he had died, she was left on her own with this battle inside her. She hated her father for being a Nazi and torturing the Jews. The speaker was stuck in her past, and her father had created a generation rut, making another generation of evil. Children always search for acceptance and approval from their parents, yet the speaker was only given the voice of her father within her head. She blamed him for the evil within herself, and at the age of twenty, she tried to commit suicide to kill the part of him in her. Unsuccessful in her attempt, she was pulled from the sack and glued back together, never being completely full again. At this time, she had an epiphany: She needed to find a husband. One who thoroughly resembled her father, down to the love of the rack and screw. At this time, she was no longer a victim and converted to the predator. She modeled her husband after her father so that she could then, essentially, murder her father finally. Therefore, she had turned into her father. On the other hand, her father died when she was ten and she still saw him as this massive man standing at the blackboard with a cleft chin and a soft heart, but as she grew older, she became more aware of her father s truth. He was a Nazi who spent his days working to round up Jews and working under Hitler. For the rest of her life, she racked her brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a potential replacement for the manual scanning of bar codes, a technology that itself revolutionized retail two decades earlier. Bierce utilizes several objects to symbolize Farquhar s journey from reality to fantasy due to consequences of war on individuals. Owl Creek Bridge is where the story, except for the flashback, takes place. Farquhar gets caught there, hanged there, and he dies there. The bridge serves as an intermediary between the two river banks, his freedom, and a transition point in his mindas he deserts reality. The point when he begins to day dream is when he believes that he escapes from the hanging, As Peyton Farquhar fell straight downward through the bridge... From this state he was awakened ages later (Bierce 470). From this description, Farquhar loses the ability to determine time; he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. How Did Gorbachev Influence The Soviet-American Government The year was 1989, and the Americans had just elected their 41st President of the United States: George H. W. Bush. As the former Vice President, Bush was well acquainted with the ongoing conflict he was inheriting from the Reagan administration between the Soviet Union and the United States. He was also cognizant of the man on the other side of the strife, Mikhail Gorbachev, leader of the Soviet Union. Gorbachev was thought to be a relatively revolutionary character; he was less of a hardliner and more open to change and influence from the West. Despite this, Bush had his reservations; he ordered a comprehensive review of the Soviet American relationship shortly after assuming office. In the report, the US National Security Advisor, Brent... NATO gained a valuable asset during this era as well; Germany has proven to be an economic leader and strategist globally and within Europe. • 54. Inequality In Jane Eyre I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte, Jane Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman, like many others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she wrote about her hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many similarities in her main character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how Victorian women were expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues her portrayal of the inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of her poems, Life and The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in the Victorian eraby taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a journey of discovery of love or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships from a young age, and rather than letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte experienced loss at a young age, losing her mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see many of her misfortunes paraphrased into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school, Lowood, where they believe in plain fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy and active habits to teach young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte herself was sent to Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to, and the school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all they could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard times, making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband (Bronte). This can be taken as a poem Bronte wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
