Essay On Website Credibility
Credibility has become an expanding issue in our modern life; many people fake different stories
about random stuff in order to get financial benefits not caring about the harms of these lies on the
community in general. People, especially students, have the passion to look up information about our
world from political issues, economics, disasters and many more things. Students are also required to
do many researches during their educational journey. We look up information using internet and
searching engines; for this reason, we should be careful about what we are reading, and if what had
been written is credible or not. There are many criteria that we can use to determine if the website is
credible or not. The first and the most important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The .org is suspected not to be credible since those websites are related to organizations which are
often biased. The .com websites are not always trusted website since they are financial sites, and
anybody can create one. The third criterion is the evidence like statistics, interviews with specialized
people, quotes. Those evidences should be cited also in the article from its credible source. When I put
Dr. Jack Cohen, a reproductive biologist in the Google search engine, and Michael Persinger,
neurologist and geologist in another tab, many websites pop out. While taking a look on the websites,
many looked pretty credible to me. For example http://oldwebsite.laurentian.ca seems very credible to
me since this website is related to an educational property which is Laurentian University. Also the
author of the article, which was like a biography to Dr. M. Persinger, was the Dr. himself. Another
website that was credible is www.drjackcohen.com ; this website gives a complete description about
Dr. Cohen, but the most important thing is that the author gave the reader the chance to contact Dr.
Cohen by phone, mail, fax, email. There are also some websites that seem biased to me. For example,

Good Night Figurative Language
The figurative language both of the poets use shows a difference in their views of death; one poet uses
figurative language to fight against death, while the other uses figurative language to show that death
is unavoidable. In Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night Thomas describes death as something that
can be fought when he says Rage. Rage against the dying of the light. He uses figurative language
because when he says The light he is referring to life. In The Charge of The Light Brigade Tennyson
describes death as something that is unavoidable when he says Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to
reason why, Theirs but to do and die. . The way I understand this excerpt is that he s saying there s

I Have Received Eight Peer Evaluations From My Colleagues
I have received eight peer evaluations from my colleagues in the School of Health Sciences at
Cleveland State University (see a sample of the complete peer evaluations in Section III.C.4.b). Three
evaluations of my abilities as an instructor have been completed within DPT 776: Physical Therapy
Management of Complex Conditions V, a class in which I am a core instructor and have expertise in
the curricular content that focuses on the therapeutic management of pediatric neurological conditions.
The cumulative ratings I received for DPT 776 improved from 3.61 to 4.09 [on a 5 point scale] from
2013 to 2015. Two evaluations were completed within DPT 662: Interactions I Patient Practitioner

Areas for which I have demonstrated improvement longitudinally include citing more resources, as
early peer feedback identified a lack of evidence in my lectures/presentations. I also now provide
more frequent summaries throughout a lecture to ensure student understanding, as this was another
area noted in early peer evaluations that could be improved.
However, when I look at my peer evaluations collectively, I can still appreciate areas in which I can
make further improvements, including maintaining clear and consistent communication with my
students. For example, a comment was provided by my peer with the evaluation of DPT 788 in 2015
as follows: ...Dr. Wendland may wish to consider sending a few more emails/announcements to her
students throughout the course to facilitate interaction. Students are sometimes hesitant to bring
concerns about what is going on at their facilities to faculty, and I have found that checking in with
them on a regular basis can serve as a stimulus for them to bring concerns forward. I think it also helps
students who are doing well in feeling supported to hear from faculty in this manner. After receiving
this feedback, I began to implement different strategies to optimize the level of communication with
my students. In an evaluation completed by my peer the following year in 2016, it was noted: [Dr.
Wendland] has really fine tuned her communications, is providing excellent guidance/support to both

After a four year wait, Tim Jordan and his family were given an allotment close to their home in
which they grew vegetables and happily ate them. However, they received a letter from the local
authorities stating that the soil on the allotment was poisoned with lead and arsenic, and was therefore
unsafe. After months of consultations, the local council sent off samples of the soil to multiple
laboratories to get it analysed. The results of which tests deemed the levels of toxins in the soil to be
low enough not to prove a threat to human health, and so normal gardening was resumed in the
allotments. Jordan and his family decided to give up the allotment because expert knowledge in the
field of science was reliant on assumptions about the soil and they were uncertain of the risks posed
by the poisoned soil. But the validity of the scientific tests was questioned by the UK Government s
environmental agency (EA) who claimed that the results of the tests were questionable because the
tests seem to find differing levels of toxins, and so the EA submitted the same samples to nine
laboratories in the UK and Wales, to one in the USA, and one in the Netherlands. The results they
produced demonstrated enough variation between the laboratories to suggest that such tests may be
underestimating the poisons.
By applying the fundamental points of Beck s risk theory to this example, we can see that expert

Manager s Perspective For Resolving Conflicts

Assignment 3
How can the clinc be managed?
Audience: Manager s perspective for resolving conflicts. (Dental Clinic)
Purpose: To Educate Managers of a Dental Clinic on how to handle conflict in the workplace.
Conflict at anytime is inevitable in the workplace setting working on a Military installation as a dental
clinic manager may also have tribulations with conflict. Conflict can arise between co workers,
supervisors and subordinates, employees and customers, and/or suppliers and regulatory agencies.
How, the manager handles conflict with a spouse can be completely different than how a conflict is

There are various types of conflict and guidelines to effectively resolve conflict to which they are
addressed. What is conflict?
Conflict management is the process of preparing to avoid conflict and organizing to resolve conflict
where it does happen, as quickly and efficiently as possible. People often are unsure about how to
approach others when there is a problem or concern. Allowing and following the conflict management
process in the dental clinic can eliminate stresses that tie into the specific circumstances. The conflict
management process is a way of recognizing and resolving conflict amongst people to achieving its
goals. In my workplace there are many different conflicts that can arise between co workers.
Tekleab (2009) found that conflict management has a direct, positive effect on team cohesion and
moderates the relationship between relationship conflict and team cohesion as well as that between
task conflict and team cohesion. Respecting each other s differences while openly and honestly
communicating individual thoughts and feelings is a main factor in effective conflict management.
Defining the problem
The biggest problem facing most managers is conflict in the workplace. There are many examples of
the different types of conflict to avoid. Conflicts can arise in many forms within the workplace and
identifying the specific types of conflicts is important to management. Case in point, there are many
instances when the co worker does

Compare And Contrast The Giver And Divergent
The Giver written by Lois Lowry is set in a so called perfect world free from fear and harm but also
from emotions, choices and memories. Jonas is seen to become the new receiver of memory within the
community, changing his views and feelings on the community and caused him to run away and
escape with Gabe. Themes such as the importance of memory, the relationship between pain and
pleasure and no feelings or emotions can be identified throughout the novel. Divergent directed by
Neil Burger is set in a dystopian city damaged by a great war. Beatris (Tris) finds that she is a
divergent within her community, and starts to become hunted by the leaders to destroy their existence
causing her and others to run away to safety from the factions. Fear, identity, values and family can all
be identified as major themes within the text. Through these settings, characters, storylines and themes
countless differences and similarities can be found between both The Giver and Divergent.
Various similarities are highlighted between The Giver and Divergent through their settings,
characters, storyline and major themes throughout the texts. Numerous amounts of similarities can be
identified in The Giver s setting and Divergent s setting. Such things as both settings are seen to be set
in the future some time and both texts have elements of sameness throughout them like having the
same house within the community and in the factions of Divergent. The two texts also show a main

Zoos In The Philippines Essay
Zoological Park or more commonly called zoo is what you call a place wherein animals are held
captive and are on display for people to observe. Zoos are also called as menageries in some places.
Menageries are exhibits of animals, especially wild animals, in enclosures. During the ancient times,
explorers, aristocrats and noblemen showcase their power, wealth and expeditions through
menageries. Explorers bring back unfamiliar species of animals from their expedition. Ancient
petroglyphs show evidences that zoo owners hired care takers for the animals in captivity. Zoos were

because of its convenient location it is located in the city which is accessible for many and extremely

Zoo are old, rusty and too small for the animals. The cages that the monkeys are in are all worn out,
tattered and rust colored. Although, there were very few monkeys in captivity, the cages still look like
it would not be able to accommodate even one monkey due to its condition. The enclosure is not big
enough for monkeys to roam around; the floor of the cage is also made from concrete which obviously

enclosure too small for her. Like the monkeys cages, Mali s pen has concrete flooring. It also lacks
natural elements such as plants, trees, logs and such to resemble an elephant s natural habitat. Mali s
pen looks very gloomy and boring. The tiger enclosures also look sad as its yet again concrete flooring
is covered with dead leaves from dying trees. There were photos were posted in a destination review

Examples Of Caricatures In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Caricatures
Writers have always set out to create realistic characters. Some have succeeded in creating characters
with unique goals and personalities while others fail to truly optimize the potential of their characters
and instead have relied on some discernible caricatures. For example, from A Tale of Two Cities by
Charles Dickens, written in 1858 to Crash, released in 2005, characters have been praised for their
originality and criticized for being stereotypical and bland. However while some characters may
appear to be caricatures, both Dickens and Haggis were constrained by time and societies explanation,
forcing them to rely on some caricatures to make the story more accessible. Both Dickens and Robert

Manette chooses to speak up, but the Evremonde brothers subdue him and lock him in the Bastille. In
there, Dr. Manette s enmity for the Evremondes continues to grow where he denounces the
Evremonde brothers and the rest the Evremonde bloodline until they die out. As the revolution
continues to grow, Dr. Manette s is finally given an opportunity to end the Evremonde bloodline. The
bloodthirsty mob of the rebellion storms La Force, where Charles Evremonde is currently held. The
mob detests anyone that had any remote connection to the French Aristocracy and would gladly
murder him. Had Dr. Manette not used his influence as a Bastille survivor, Charles would ve been
gored on the street. Despite his hatred for the Evremonde family, Dr. Manette forgoes his past to save
the husband of one very dear to him. Finally, Dr. Manette is able to move on from the years of hatred
in the Bastille, and he personally vouches for the Evremonde at his trial. Ultimately, Dr. Manette
ceases to hold the Evremonde bloodline responsible for the heinous actions committed and had instead
worked tirelessly to save his son in law. Through Dr. Manette, Dickens portrays a character that not
only complete contradicts his initial caricature of a vengeful prisoner but also grows into someone
willing to forgive someone who had wronged him.
Despite such a strong lead character, where Dickens fell flat, especially for modern readers, was with
his female characters, such as Lucie Manette. When we are

The psychosexual stages of development played an important role in human development also. Freud
believed it was vital for every human to experience each stage fully; otherwise the consequences of
the missed stage(s) would manifest later in the life cycle a defense mechanism called fixation.
Fixation occurs when there is conflict at a certain stage in psychosexual development. There are five
psychosexual stages of development: oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. The first psychosexual
stage of development, the oral stage, begins in infancy and lasts throughout the first year. During this
stage, infants are performing oral exercises such as sucking and learning to create noise with their
mouths and will be expected to wean themselves from their mother s breasts/bottles. If fixation occurs
at this psychosexual stage, the individual is likely to have difficulty forming healthy relationships, as
well as regulating their optimism and pessimism.
The second stage, the anal stage, occurs from the first year to year and a half until age 3. The child is
learning the technique of controlling both their bladder and their bowels, as well as learning toilet
training. When fixation occurs in the anal stage, it is manifested in the individuals personality. These
anal fixated individuals are the anal retentive and anal expulsive population. They are always either

Comparing Poems Suicide Note And The Mother
Poetry Paper
Everyone believes that someone is perfect in life in other words that is not true. Although Suicide
Note by Janice Mirikitani focuses on disappointment, and The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks touches
more on an emotional topic of abortion. This allows you to see that the decisions a person makes in
life, have a great impact on others. Both poems convey on how they feel about death and failure.
In the poem Suicide Note Mirikitani talks about the failures she had in life. For example Each failure

also use symbolism for flying this sparrow (40). This helps express her thoughts about herself. She
indicates that if she were a boy her parents would love her more, and be able to strive, higher in life.

infants that one day would be able to grow to be children. If I stole your births and your names she

Twelve Who Ruled Essay
Twelve Who Ruled Book Review
The year of terror is one of the most complex and misunderstood periods in the French Revolution.
Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written
masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge
of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside.
The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint
Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois) ruled
France; even though they were technically under the control of the Convention. ... Show more content

This can be seen when Palmer compares the other member to Robespierre. After the personal history
of each of the twelve men, Palmer moves right in and starts discussing how and why the Committee of
Public Safety was formed, and how it came to power. After this, he maneuvers circumspectly into how
the committee used this power to purge the nation of quot;counter revolutionaries, quot; who needed
but offend the sensitive ears of Robespierre to be executed. He then moves along chronologically to
the height of the Committee s power and eventually describes the decline and eventual demise of the
reign of terror. This is signified by the execution of Robespierre, who was designated as the instigator
of the terror. It is in his death that the terror culminated, and along with it, this book.
This book is considerably effective as a narrative biography of the quot;Twelve Who Ruled. quot;
Through his eloquent use of detail and his elegant ability to paint a superb picture which incorporates
both the lives and actions of the men in power and the essence and accomplishments of the Committee
of Public Safety as a whole he tells the story of the Reign of Terror. It is his intermixing of the two,
along with his representation of the day that makes this book so quot;Thoroughly sound, eminently
readable, quot; and representative of great narrative writing.

events in modern society might trigger these disorders. I feel that many events could trigger this type

I think that the only way that you would be able to handle that is to go through modeling to re teach
your mind that those instances do not have to always associate with the traumatic event. Although this
may take a large amount of time since it would be hard to control when a flashback is going to occur
and how long they will be stuck in that frame of mind. Possibly hypnosis could help with this. I think
some younger kids know that if they throw a fit about something or threaten violence they will get
what they want. I think that this is hard to deal with. How do you gauge if the threats are real or if it
just that, a threat. It would be terrible if you thought it was and they really did follow through. This is
probably learned at a young age. I know that for myself if I act like I can t do something or if I do it
wrong my mom will help me. Which is terrible, at the age of 26, still acting like I don t know how to

Peyote
In The Man Who Killed the Deer by Frank Waters, the speaker talks about how Martiniano, the man
who killed the deer, is disconnected from his tribe and is in search of a religion. After coming in

hallucinations reassuring for a while, but after the authorities invade one of the ceremonies, he no

ritualistic uses have a long history, and it has been used within a number of Native American tribes in

is responsible for leading the main elements of the meeting as well as directing participants down the

Man, and Earth Mother. While each chapter is different, most of them adopt similar ceremonial
elements, which include: the avoidance of alcohol, devotion to family and general moral living

mescal buttons. While the peyote is administered, music will often be sung in the background. The use
of feathers, rattles, bone whistles, and drumming are also a common element of the peyote
ceremonies. The ceremonies usually begin on Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and end on Sunday
mornings, commencing with a communal breakfast. It is believed that the consumption of peyote
allows for communion with the gods and the deceased, as well as offering participants a sense of

Duckworth Industries
The following is a case study analysis of Duckworth Industries, in particular the company?s incentive
compensation programs: 1 2) What are the different incentive compensation plan options covered in
the case and what problems does each plan solve? Mr. Duckworth believed in the power of incentive
to guide management action. In order to better align the interest of the management with the
shareholders, Mr. Duckworth implemented a variety of new incentive compensation programs: The
first incentive program implemented addressed tardiness and attendance. Basically, under this plan an

The EVA is calculated annually for each business unit by using a formula that ?automatically adjusts
the baseline for calculating next year?s bonus to reflect the actual performance of the prior year?
(Duckworth Case, UOP). Therefore, since employees? bonus is tied directly to this formula, and the
formula is based on the performance of the prior year in the old department, it will be difficult to get
an accurate bonus figure for the employee?s first year in the new unit. 4.) How should an incentive
compensation plan adopted by a firm relate to its industry type, market stability, and to the economic
health of the firm? Regardless of the industry, an incentive compensation plan needs to have realistic
goals that management can achieve. An incentive compensation plan needs to ensure that the bonuses
paid out do not have a negative impact on the economic health of the company. If a bonus is scaled to
revenue growth, the bonuses paid out may reduce the overall profitability of a company. Additionally,
in unstable markets, it may be impossible to achieve revenue growth goals for a period of time. In an
unstable market, a company may not reach their sales revenues, but they may outperform their peer
companies. In the case study, Duckworth searched to implement an incentive plan that drives senior
management to create wealth. Using a plan like EVA, a company doesn?t need to worry about industry
type, market stability, and economic health. Since EVA goals are

The Sabbath Of The Jewish Holidays
When people think of holidays they would think Christmas or Thanksgiving. But with the Jewish
religion they celebrate the holidays a little bit different than most people. With the Jewish cultural they
celebrate Shabbat, Passover, You Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukkah.
The Shabbat is considered the most important of all Jewish holidays. It is the day of rest and weekly
observance of God s completion of creation. Shabbat starts on a Friday night an hour before sunset, it
lasts for 25 hours until sunset on Saturday night. This holiday is one of the way the Jewish people
connect with Yahweh because these people will make some of the tuitional meal that comes with this
holiday. Also, they will make the setting special because they are celebrating their god and what to
make it wonderful. In the book God in search of man there was a quote that said Perhaps Sabbath is
the idea that expresses what is most characteristic of Judaism. What is the Sabbath? A reminder of
every man s royalty; and abolition of the distinction of master and slave, rich and poor, success and
failure. To celebrate the Sabbath is to experience one s ultimate independence of civilization and
society, of achievement and anxiety. The Sabbath is an embodiment of the belief that all men are equal
and that equality of men means the nobility of men. (pg.417) The author is showing that the men of

Protein Analysis
Proteins are an essential component of the human body tissues. They are made by combining amino
acids together. There are many pros as well as cons to consuming inadequate amounts of protein each
day. Making sure to consume the accurate type and amount of protein is important for the body. There
are specific groups that do require more protein, however, if you are not a part of one of these groups
consuming too much protein can have harmful effects. Proteins are made when amino acids combine
to each other. There are 20 different amino acids; 9 are essential amino acids and 11 are non essential
amino acids. The body is unable to produce essential amino acids on its own. The body must obtain
the 9 essential amino acids through the consumption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These groups include children, athletes, vegetarians, adolescents, and pregnant woman. Since proteins
help with the growth of tissue in the body as well as hormones and enzymes it is important for
vegetarians as well as vegans to make sure they are consuming adequate amounts of protein. Animal
products contain the majority of sources for amino acids where many plant products are missing those
sources that our bodies need. Dr. Hubbard explains in the article Are You Getting Enough Protein
published by Tufts University how animal products can provide the complete proteins but it is possible
to get them in other ways such as peanut butter, beans, rice, and bread. Dr. Hubbard states: Despite
what you may have heard, these combinations don t have to be eaten at one meal it s a balance over a
whole day that s most important ( Are You Getting Enough Protein, 2012). Another group that needs
to ensure that they have enough protein in their diet is athletes. According to a journal titled Protein
food and amino acid supplements in athletes diet, the amount of protein required over the daily
recommended amount depends on the athlete as well as the sport. All athletes can benefit when an
extra supply of protein is consumed immediately following a workout in order to help increase muscle
mass and strength endurance. Protein consumption also helps athletes with recovery time and
enhances their performance both in exercise and in a

Can You Describe What Trisa Was Missing In A Story Of A...
Little nine year old girl, Patricia Trisha McFarland, went missing on June 7th, 1999. While walking on
the Spring Point Shoreway mountain trail, Patricia was walking with her mother, Quilla Anderson, and
her brother, Pete McFarland. On June 8th, 1999, my news report team sent me out to investigate the
scene and to ask the family if they knew anything about her whereabouts and what exactly happened.
When I got to the McFarland s house, I got to meet Trisha s family, which consists of her mom, Quilla
Anderson, brother, Pete McFarland, and her dad, Larry McFarland. I sat them down in front of me and
set up my tape recorder so I can record the whole conversation and take it back to the police station.
Once it was all set up I grabbed my notebook full of questions and started asking all of them questions
about Trisha s life and her last day they saw her. Can you describe what Trisha looks like? Can you
explain what she was wearing on the trails? Quilla answered quietly, looking down, She is 4 11,
weighs 80 pounds, has natural bleach blonde hair. She has a mole on the left side of her face, pierced
ears that have little diamonds in them, a small scar on her forehead that she got when she was younger.
The last day we saw her, she was wearing a normal t shirt, a hoodie, skinny jeans, tennis shoes, a
signed Red Sox baseball hat, and she had a bookbag with her. I wrote most of the descriptions of her
down in my journal before I went to the next set of questions I need to be

The Effect Of Culture On Consumer Behaviour
In international market, understanding consumer needs and desired is extremely important to the
corporation in order to market their products and services properly into the market. Consumer
behaviour is a process in where individuals or groups select, buy, use and dispose of the products and
services to satisfy their needs and desires. The organisation simply cannot understand consumption
unless they consider its cultural context, as culture shows how people view leads to their acceptance.
Therefore, the effect of culture on consumer behaviour is powerful. This paper will discuss in more
details about that and further consider whether culture has the greatest influence on consumer
behaviour.
Culture has a complex concept that numerous of researchers talk about in different views. Cultures is
defined as a complex whole that includes of knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other
capabilities and habits acquired by a member of the society (Hollensen, 2013). Culture provides the
important background of an individual that offer direction and guidance to its members in all phases
of life. Besides, Sojka and Tansuhaj describe culture as a dynamic set of socially obtains the member
of a particular society s behaviours, with the key element of language, artefacts, belief and values
(Sojka and Tansuhaj, 1995). There are three main characteristics of culture stated on Hollensen s
(2013) book: culture is learned, interrelated and shared. The tangible aspects of culture

Death In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
In The Story of an Hour Kate Chopin introduces the reader to an unspoken understanding/expression
of matrimony as well as a symbolic meaning of death. The story begins and ends with irony in an
anastrophe form. The symbolic meaning of death is not illustrated by the narrator as a pilgrimage to
ones grave but rather represent the death of an old way of life. The news of the main characters
husband s death evokes the protagonist character to reflect on her loss of life taken/stolen by the bonds
of matrimony. The events of her reflection set the tone of the story. Which reveals a woman s inner

Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as
gently as possible the news of her husband s death. (Chopin 476) Consequently, this is also the first
introduction of irony as it pertains to the allegoric meaning of death. The narrator use of an omniscient
third person denotes descriptive details of Mrs. Mallard s heart as a trouble heart not as a heart
problems associated/cause of death. The unfortunate news of her husband s death awakens Mrs.
Mallard s hidden inner conflict within herself and towards her marriage. This hour of reflection takes
place in a comfortable roomy armchair facing a window. The window represent an opening into her
soul and the scenic view symbolizes new spring life. She could see in the open square before her
house the tops of tree that were all aquiver with new spring life. (Chopin 476) Her view of this new
life does not come in the form of a reflection but rather a rationalized thought. A thought of truth about
the life she had lost at a young age stolen by the bonds of matrimony. The presence of this truth was
fearful and met with much resistance. When Mrs. Mallard relinquished herself from the inner conflicts
that had held her in such bondage her fear turned to joy. This act of submission changed everything

Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income
During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to
higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer
holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the
investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a
large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the
value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995).
Realization of Capital Income
Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital
gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring
taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income,
long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize
the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a
higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995)
contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a
higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the
artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones

Essay On Editing Drafting And Persuasion
The use of editing, drafting, and persuasion are all beneficial in the use of writing, but they also
impact society by way of helping audience understanding. Drafting is the beginning, it s the
opportunity to discover what you have to say and how best to say it (Murray). Editing is a way of
correcting a piece over time to make writing less blocked so words will come more easily (Elbow).
Persuasion is the reason to make a speech or publish a document a document such as the Constitution
achieving what the author wants to say (Aristotle). The Constitution had a positive impact, written by
James Madison and a group of others who took the time to draft, edit, and eventually persuade
Congress to publish the document to the United States. Drafting can be a long antagonizing process,
but in the long run it ll pay off like it did for the Constitution. There needs to be a focus on drafting
including revising, editing, and reading (Murray) so that you re completely successful in eventually
finishing a piece. It took the authors of the Constitution 5 months, from May 1787 until the signing in
September 1787 (National Constitution Center) to achieve this. That shows that drafting can be a long
process, but because of the positive outcome to the United States, drafting was just the beginning part
of an impactful piece on society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

without persuasion. Without it, the Constitution would not have been ratified the way it was, written

Analysis of the Elements of the Intelligence Cycle Essay
Minor Assignment
Analyse the elements of the Intelligence Cycle . What are its core strengths and weaknesses?
Before I begin to analyse the elements of the Intelligence Cycle, I must begin with the definition of
Intelligence .
Throughout my research, it became apparent that the acceptance for an accurate definition of
Intelligence is still an issue to date. One reason could be because experts tend to view intelligence
through their own specialty, and would be fair to say that this could possibly be because officers
within the intelligence community do not have strong bridges connecting them to each other or to
policy makers, which would therefore enhance communication and sharing practices of raw findings
and improve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The phases of the intelligence process include identifying the requirement or direction, collecting
information through its various disciplines, processing and exploitation, analysis and production,
dissemination and feedback.
Throughout my findings more weaknesses and flaws of the intelligence cycle elements were much
more apparent than strengths. In theory, the cycle indicates that the elements flow in a cyclical order,
but this is indeed inaccurate, as the cycle does not always flow in one direction or in a cycle as it
indicates it does. For example, it can move back and forth between collection and analysis before
moving on for the processing and exploitation stage where the most resources and time is used. It is
also possible that information collected could end up going back to the requirement stage for policy
makers to present a new direction requirement and or more information.
The intelligence cycle is, nevertheless, of significant value to intelligence and learning about it in
theory assists those entering the intelligence business, because it provides insight into the processes, as
well as being able to recognise it s weaknesses in order to focus on building on strengths for the future
of effective and efficient intelligence.

Summary Of One Child By Torey Hayden

During the time that Torey and Sheila had together, Sheila began developing into a pleasant and
prosperous child that loved to learn and was very intelligent. Also, at this time Sheila grew closer to
her classmates and began to have bonded with others. Torey Hayden stated, I taught what was

The Three Factors Of Juvenile Delinquency
In the United States, juvenile delinquency is becoming a major problem in the communities across the
country. Because of the actions that these juveniles engage in on a regular basis, taxpayers across the
country are having to shell out hundreds upon thousands of dollars to rehabilitate these children in
order to help them make better choices. This leads citizens to wonder what factors actually cause
juveniles to live a life of crime rather than success. In short, there are three main factors that often
cause children to live a life of crime. These three factors are social influences, psychological
characteristics, and academic potential.
The first factor that often leads to juvenile delinquency involves the child s social influences within
their communities. The community of individuals that a child is normally around on a normal basis
includes family, friends, and neighbors. Depending on the overall quality of the relationship that the
child has with each member of their community, they maybe more or less inclined to commit crimes.
According to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, juveniles who experience abuse or
neglect from any member of their community may be more inclined to become deviant (n.d.). For
example, if a father abuses his child, the odds of the child s willing to resort to deviance becomes
significantly higher than a father who treats his son like a normal parent. Another way a child can be
socially exposed to deviance is through example. If a parent is always in a run with law enforcement
on a constant basis, that child may grow up to be just like them simply because that is how they were
raised. The third and final social influence comes outside of the family circle where the actions that a
child s friends partake in can also determine whether or not the child will pursue acts of deviance. The
influence of a friend s actions can either be positive or negative depending on the values of the friend.
For instance, say a child named Johnny hangs around a group of troublemakers who always wreck
havoc, smoke joints, and talk trash about everyone. This kind of relationship between Johnny and his
friends can lead Johnny to becoming just like the troublemakers because of peer pressure.

Anthropomorphism And Forest Animals
It can be suggested that Bambi s success in generating public support was a result of personifying the
forest animals. Bambi and his friends were given voices, thoughts, and emotions such as fear, love,
even curiosity that made them relatable to viewers. Anthropomorphism, by definition, is the
attribution of human characteristics to non human entities (Skibins et al., 2015). The purpose of
anthropomorphism in conservation is not to create fictional animal personas, but to create empathy
toward these animals and their ecosystems by stressing that animals have many of our characteristics
(Chan, 2012). For example, when visiting a zoo, a mother may feel a special connection when seeing a
gorilla comfort her baby. By generating this relationship, anthropomorphism poses a chance to
increase public care for a species. Though anthropomorphism may have an indirect relationship, it
creates relatability between species, and [r]elatability is linked to concern, which can lead to an
increased willingness to take conservation actions for a species (Lloyd and Woodside, 2013).
Furthermore, anthropomorphism may be applied in public advertising. Projecting human
characteristics onto an animal, generating an emotional response, causes a product to become
subconsciously memorable. Using such a method in advertising has been shown to create a link
between the consumer and the brand. The integration of explicit animal symbols... serves to activate

My Identity Crisis
My identity crisis started when I was about 9 years old. The realization that I was different from
friends, family, and my classmates were scary and hard to bare. As a young child, we are taught and
framed to be a certain way, think a certain way, and live a certain way according to the family
structure. Like most young girls I often fantasized about my wedding. What type of dress I was going
to wear, what colors I would pick and what type of dress my wife would choose. My fantasies were
often disrupted by the sound of my mother s voice instructing me to complete a task, or letting me
know she was home. At that very moment internal shame, and denial would set in. This is not normal,
a wife, why was I thinking about a wife? I don t like girls! I like Josh. That s who I will marry, Josh.
This type of self doubt and shame I would live with for years. What was wrong with me, who am I,
and why was my desires so different from my friends? Growing up I kept pushing these feelings aside
to follow the social norm. Often, I had thought about telling my best friend, but the fear of being
rejected or outed were way too much for a 14 year old to deal with. I would go along with my friends,
laugh about how cute the new boy was, put posters on my walls of the most popular teen idols, and
drool over the cute guy in the mall. Eventually I would detach myself from a lot of my girlfriends and

Analysis Of House Of The Seven Gables Essay
Evil within the Portraits The traditional Gothic taste for portraits is frequent in many novels and short
stories that follow the conventions of literary mode making it present in these both texts; House of the
Seven Gables by Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe s The Oval Portrait. Often the characters in such
Gothic romances are haunted by the tyranny of the past, which make it inescapable. It often leads to
the destruction of their loved ones. Others motive of escape is often pulled back by a curse that the
character creates upon himself. According to The Art of Terror by Maria Antonia Lima she says, These
portraits are usually a source of terror, with the past presented as something alive, like a ghost that
haunts the present with its terrible mystery. Many authors consider this kind of literature itself as an
example of modern art because it can become an anti realist protest and a rebellion of the imagination
against the reduction of fiction to the analysis of contemporary habits (Lima 80). The painter
introduces the portrait in the Oval Portrait by Edgar Allen Poe as overwhelming to him. The painter
changes his behavior by no longer seeing his wife as his wife rather as an image through the lens of
his painting. This idea of a portrait can be signified as a curse. A curse that plays with the Pyncheon s

Benefits of Artificial Reefs Essay
Thesis: When an artificial reef is made many just see trash going into the sea, however there are
positive benefits that come from the making of the reef.
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of an artificial reef is the creation of a new community for aquatic
creatures to live. It is like a developer going out to sea and making a new subdivision out there for
fish. This creation of an artificial reef is the most natural way to protect the marine habitat, by
providing shelter, a source of food, and an area for mating and reproduction for a numerous amount of
creatures. The reason this is so important is because a given area of water can only support so many
marine creatures, none of these creatures can live in mid water where there is ... Show more content

The majority of this revenue is created by the tourism that these reefs create. If you don t know much
about diving here is a figure that will help you, a large percentage of all the tourism industries revenue
is from these people diving. When these sites are created this is exactly what they have in mind,
attracting thousands of divers to these easily accessible sites. These divers come to see these reefs
because the sites are known locations and the organisms growing on and the ecosystem around it is a
beautiful site that is a joy to partake in. As a matter of fact the view is so spectacular that today the
sale of underwater cameras far exceeds the sale of spear guns, which creates even more revenue for
local dive shops. This is why divers travel around the world to get a look at these sites. When these
divers come into town this is where the revenue comes in from anything such as boat tours/charters,
hotel stays, food consumption, and equipment. Many companies have keyed into this market and have
started making their own natural reefs. These companies have used them for everything from
submarine tours to burial sites for the deceased ashes. Don t forget about the fishermen, whom are also
getting wealthy due to the reefs. The fish swarm to these areas now, so the fishermen know exactly
where to fish and fill their boats up. All of these reasons can bring in anywhere from fifty to ninety

The Following Exam Is An Open Book Exam
Jeremy Plambeck The following exam is an open book exam. You are directed to answer each of the
questions presented fully, taking care to answer each part of the question. Your responses should be
typed, proofread and edited. I am grading on the clarity, depth and extent of your response. When you
have completed the exam, submit it into the exam 1 area in Blackboard. This is an unlimited time,
unlimited entry exam. If you use information directly from a source, including the book, make sure to
provide a citation. For example, from Peak, (Peak, 2014). 1. We discussed two models of criminal
justice in class: Due Process versus Crime Control. Clearly define each model and provide an
example, fictional or real, of each model in practice. Due process and Crime control are two models
opposite of the spectrum. Due process maintains the constitutional rights of a person innocent until
proven guilty . In simple terms, due process is like swinging across the monkey bars to reach the final
result of finding one guilty. A good example of due process would be, going to a judge in order to
grant a search warrant on a home to make an arrest. On the other hand Crime control is completely
different, it goes against the book . Crime control does not favor ones constitutional rights as an
individual, and acts as a crime deterrent, and always assuming the party is guilty. Another example
would be breaking into someone s home in order to make an illegal arrest because one knows the

Abolishing Slavery
Jimmy Watson History May 13, 2009 Abolishing Slavery The American civil war had a profound
effect on the lives of slaves. It ultimately resulted in the abolition of slavery. Slaves first arrived in
America in Virginia in 1619. The Underground Railway was a way by which slaves could find
freedom. This was a method for northerners to help escaped slaves to find a place to live in free states
or Canada. Free black Americans were usually the ones to plan and helped with the Underground
Railroad. It is believed about 50,000 to 100,000 people used the Underground Railroad to escape to
their freedom. The Civil War was fought partly over the issue of slavery. The people that lived in the
North opposed the slavery more than the people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final days of the war, the Confederacy even considered using blacks as soldiers, offering
freedom as a reward. When given the choice, slaves made it very clear that they wanted emancipation.
The overwhelming majority of slaves, however, remained on their plantations in the countryside. Even
then these slaves in the Southern interior found ways to demonstrate their desire for freedom. They did
not stop working, but they did considerably less work than they had before the war. Lincoln detested
slavery, but he doubted whether blacks and whites could ever live in America in a condition of
equality. The slaves ran away in massive numbers during the spring and summer of 1862, freeing
themselves. Abolitionists who insisted that the war should be one for the freedom of the slaves
confronted Lincoln at home. The Emancipation proclamation in January 1863 did not legally free a
single slave. Through the proclamation Lincoln silenced his abolitionist critics in the North, defused
interventionist sentiment abroad, and invigorated black slave resisters to continue their efforts in the
South. Near the end of the war, abolitionists were concerned that the Emancipation Proclamation
would be construed solely as a war act and no longer apply once fighting ended. They were also
increasingly anxious to secure the freedom of all slaves, not just those freed by the Emancipation
Proclamation. Thus pressed, Lincoln staked a

Essay on How to Make the Malahat Safer
How to Make the Malahat Safer
The debate about how to improve the treacherously narrow and winding Malahat Mountain Highway
on South Vancouver Island has been an on going issue since its conception back in 1861 when it was
built as a cattle trail, then up graded to wagon road status in 1884 and eventually paved in 1911
(Commission). Currently vital safety upgrades are underway such as concrete barriers to divide the
road lanes and stabilization solutions for falling debris. The presence of physical law enforcement
units on the highway to manage problems like cell phone usage, impaired drivers and vehicles that are
ill equipped for weather conditions is a necessary and crucial part of maintaining safety on the
Malahat (Unit). However, due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Construction will encounter further delays due to the precautions that need to be taken to ensure the
safety of workers and travellers while work is completed on the busy highway. These delays add to the
already significant financial cost of implementing these ideas for widening and improving the existing
highway. The economic cost associated with the different proposed options of development for the
highway range from an estimated 200 million dollars to 1billion dollars (Transportation). The cheapest
option includes upgrades to only a total of 18.8 km (Transportation)of road, and does not allow for a
alternate emergency route, as well as still maintaining an inadequate capacity rate and limited
improvements over all (Transportation). There are several different options that fall somewhere in the
middle of these two extremes both in cost and improvement outcomes. These options vary in
estimated costs of 300 million 600 million dollars and would improve anywhere from 19.1km 26.2 km
of the current highway. (Transportation) These proposed options have a range of different outcomes,
the majority do not fully address all of the issues and the ones that do, do so with significant

Analysis Of Three Cups Of Tea
Three Cups of Tea by David Oliver Relin and Greg Mortenson tells a story that takes the reader along
an adventure, up mountains, and across the world. Mortenson is a mountaineer that ends up in Korphe,
Pakistan after he fails to climb K2. It is here where he sees poverty unlike anywhere he has yet to be.
Mortenson, struck by shock, promises to come back to the small village and build a school in hopes of
turning the place around. He ends up raising enough money to fulfil his promise, being promoted to
the director of the Central Asia Institute which build schools across the country, and begins to focus
more on girls education. Throughout the novel, the overall tone was direct and straightforward, and it
is essentially journalistic due to the third person point of view and changing narration. Mortenson
discovers a purpose from the result of being lost in a quest to fulfil his duty of director and the
continuation of being a humanitarian in these developing countries which is one of the author s
purposes of writing this book. In Three Cups of Tea, there are many points in time when Mortenson
thinks he has gone in the wrong direction, but ironically ends up right where he needs to be after all
which ends up being the main theme of the book: making the best out of a bad situation.
The theme is one that many people should be able to relate to: anyone can turn a bad situation into a
good one. For instance, when Mortenson could not reach the peak of K2, he is disappointed, however

What Is Transcendentalism In Into The Wild
The transcendentalist philosopher Henry David Thoreau once wrote, Most men even in this
comparatively free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the facetious
cares and superfluously coarse labors of life that its finer fruits cannot be plucked by them. Thoreau
advocated simplifying life and the benefits of living in isolation from society in the wilderness to suck
the marrow out of life . In the non fiction book titled Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, the young man
Chris McCandless story is told. McCandless traveled to Alaska to experience the most extreme
transcendentalist existence foretold by Thoreau. While in Alaska he meet his end, and many historians
contemplate why he took this tremendous undertaking to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surviving alone in Alaska without the proper gear, and knowledge of the terrain, had proven fatal for
many; including McCandless. The native Alaskan Galien told him that he lacked adequate gear and
supplies to survive alone in the wilderness. He did not heed the advice of an experienced Alaskan who
hunted. This purposeful unpreparedness was a major contributor to his death. Another instance of
McCandless disrespect for nature is that he was not knowledgeable about the terrain and went, despite
being inexperienced in surviving solo with minimal supplies in the frozen tundra of Alaska. During his
trip he successfully killed a moose, but wasted most of the meat by not knowing how to properly
preserve the meat to last him a longer period of time. If he respected nature it would have been to his
benefit to research the conditions in Alaska, to educate himself about the terrain, and to practice
survival skills before trying to live as minimally as

  • 2. Essay On Website Credibility Credibility has become an expanding issue in our modern life; many people fake different stories about random stuff in order to get financial benefits not caring about the harms of these lies on the community in general. People, especially students, have the passion to look up information about our world from political issues, economics, disasters and many more things. Students are also required to do many researches during their educational journey. We look up information using internet and searching engines; for this reason, we should be careful about what we are reading, and if what had been written is credible or not. The .org is suspected not to be credible since those websites are related to organizations which are often biased. The .com websites are not always trusted website since they are financial sites, and anybody can create one. The third criterion is the evidence like statistics, interviews with specialized people, quotes. Those evidences should be cited also in the article from its credible source. When I put Dr. Jack Cohen, a reproductive biologist in the Google search engine, and Michael Persinger, neurologist and geologist in another tab, many websites pop out. While taking a look on the websites, many looked pretty credible to me. For example http://oldwebsite.laurentian.ca seems very credible to me since this website is related to an educational property which is Laurentian University. Also the author of the article, which was like a biography to Dr. M. Persinger, was the Dr. himself. Another website that was credible is www.drjackcohen.com ; this website gives a complete description about Dr. Cohen, but the most important thing is that the author gave the reader the chance to contact Dr. Cohen by phone, mail, fax, email. He uses figurative language because when he says The light he is referring to life. However, when I look at my peer evaluations collectively, I can still appreciate areas in which I can make further improvements, including maintaining clear and consistent communication with my students. For example, a comment was provided by my peer with the evaluation of DPT 788 in 2015 as follows: ...Dr. Wendland may wish to consider sending a few more emails/announcements to her students throughout the course to facilitate interaction. Students are sometimes hesitant to bring concerns about what is going on at their facilities to faculty, and I have found that checking in with them on a regular basis can serve as a stimulus for them to bring concerns forward. I think it also helps students who are doing well in feeling supported to hear from faculty in this manner. After receiving this feedback, I began to implement different strategies to optimize the level of communication with my students. After a four year wait, Tim Jordan and his family were given an allotment close to their home in which they grew vegetables and happily ate them. However, they received a letter from the local authorities stating that the soil on the allotment was poisoned with lead and arsenic, and was therefore unsafe. After months of consultations, the local council sent off samples of the soil to multiple laboratories to get it analysed. The results of which tests deemed the levels of toxins in the soil to be low enough not to prove a threat to human health, and so normal gardening was resumed in the allotments. Jordan and his family decided to give up the allotment because expert knowledge in the field of science was reliant on assumptions about the soil and they were uncertain of the risks posed by the poisoned soil. But the validity of the scientific tests was questioned by the UK Government s environmental agency (EA) who claimed that the results of the tests were questionable because the tests seem to find differing levels of toxins, and so the EA submitted the same samples to nine laboratories in the UK and Wales, to one in the USA, and one in the Netherlands. The results they produced demonstrated enough variation between the laboratories to suggest that such tests may be underestimating the poisons. By applying the fundamental points of Beck s risk theory to this example, we can see that expert knowledge did in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The psychosexual stages of development played an important role in human development also. Freud believed it was vital for every human to experience each stage fully; otherwise the consequences of the missed stage(s) would manifest later in the life cycle a defense mechanism called fixation. Fixation occurs when there is conflict at a certain stage in psychosexual development. There are five psychosexual stages of development: oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. The first psychosexual stage of development, the oral stage, begins in infancy and lasts throughout the first year. During this stage, infants are performing oral exercises such as sucking and learning to create noise with their mouths and will be expected to wean themselves from their mother s breasts/bottles. If fixation occurs at this psychosexual stage, the individual is likely to have difficulty forming healthy relationships, as well as regulating their optimism and pessimism. Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside. The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois) ruled France; even though they were technically under the control of the Convention. ... He then moves along chronologically to the height of the Committee s power and eventually describes the decline and eventual demise of the reign of terror. This is signified by the execution of Robespierre, who was designated as the instigator of the terror. It is in his death that the terror culminated, and along with it, this book. This book is considerably effective as a narrative biography of the quot;Twelve Who Ruled. quot; Through his eloquent use of detail and his elegant ability to paint a superb picture which incorporates both the lives and actions of the men in power and the essence and accomplishments of the Committee of Public Safety as a whole he tells the story of the Reign of Terror. How should an incentive compensation plan adopted by a firm relate to its industry type, market stability, and to the economic health of the firm? Regardless of the industry, an incentive compensation plan needs to have realistic goals that management can achieve. An incentive compensation plan needs to ensure that the bonuses paid out do not have a negative impact on the economic health of the company. If a bonus is scaled to revenue growth, the bonuses paid out may reduce the overall profitability of a company. Additionally, in unstable markets, it may be impossible to achieve revenue growth goals for a period of time. In an unstable market, a company may not reach their sales revenues, but they may outperform their peer companies. • 27. Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995). Realization of Capital Income Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income, long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995) contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Drafting is the beginning, it s the opportunity to discover what you have to say and how best to say it (Murray). Editing is a way of correcting a piece over time to make writing less blocked so words will come more easily (Elbow). It took the authors of the Constitution 5 months, from May 1787 until the signing in September 1787 (National Constitution Center) to achieve this. For example, it can move back and forth between collection and analysis before moving on for the processing and exploitation stage where the most resources and time is used. It is also possible that information collected could end up going back to the requirement stage for policy makers to present a new direction requirement and or more information. • 35. The Three Factors Of Juvenile Delinquency In the United States, juvenile delinquency is becoming a major problem in the communities across the country. Because of the actions that these juveniles engage in on a regular basis, taxpayers across the country are having to shell out hundreds upon thousands of dollars to rehabilitate these children in order to help them make better choices. This leads citizens to wonder what factors actually cause juveniles to live a life of crime rather than success. In short, there are three main factors that often cause children to live a life of crime. These three factors are social influences, psychological characteristics, and academic potential. The first factor that often leads to juvenile delinquency involves the child s social influences within their communities. The community of individuals that a child is normally around on a normal basis includes family, friends, and neighbors. Depending on the overall quality of the relationship that the child has with each member of their community, they maybe more or less inclined to commit crimes. According to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, juveniles who experience abuse or neglect from any member of their community may be more inclined to become deviant (n.d.). For example, if a father abuses his child, the odds of the child s willing to resort to deviance becomes significantly higher than a father who treats his son like a normal parent. Another way a child can be socially exposed to deviance is through example. If a parent is always in a run with law enforcement on a constant basis, that child may grow up to be just like them simply because that is how they were raised. The third and final social influence comes outside of the family circle where the actions that a child s friends partake in can also determine whether or not the child will pursue acts of deviance. The influence of a friend s actions can either be positive or negative depending on the values of the friend. For instance, say a child named Johnny hangs around a group of troublemakers who always wreck havoc, smoke joints, and talk trash about everyone. This kind of relationship between Johnny and his friends can lead Johnny to becoming just like the troublemakers because of peer pressure. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bambi and his friends were given voices, thoughts, and emotions such as fear, love, even curiosity that made them relatable to viewers. Anthropomorphism, by definition, is the attribution of human characteristics to non human entities (Skibins et al., 2015). The purpose of anthropomorphism in conservation is not to create fictional animal personas, but to create empathy toward these animals and their ecosystems by stressing that animals have many of our characteristics (Chan, 2012). For example, when visiting a zoo, a mother may feel a special connection when seeing a gorilla comfort her baby. By generating this relationship, anthropomorphism poses a chance to increase public care for a species. Though anthropomorphism may have an indirect relationship, it creates relatability between species, and [r]elatability is linked to concern, which can lead to an increased willingness to take conservation actions for a species (Lloyd and Woodside, 2013). As a young child, we are taught and framed to be a certain way, think a certain way, and live a certain way according to the family structure. Like most young girls I often fantasized about my wedding. What type of dress I was going to wear, what colors I would pick and what type of dress my wife would choose. My fantasies were often disrupted by the sound of my mother s voice instructing me to complete a task, or letting me know she was home. At that very moment internal shame, and denial would set in. This is not normal, a wife, why was I thinking about a wife? I don t like girls! I like Josh. That s who I will marry, Josh. This type of self doubt and shame I would live with for years. What was wrong with me, who am I, and why was my desires so different from my friends? Growing up I kept pushing these feelings aside to follow the social norm. Often, I had thought about telling my best friend, but the fear of being rejected or outed were way too much for a 14 year old to deal with. I would go along with my friends, laugh about how cute the new boy was, put posters on my walls of the most popular teen idols, and drool over the cute guy in the mall. Eventually I would detach myself from a lot of my girlfriends and form friendships with guys. Guys were much easier for me to relate to. I didn t have to talk about ... • 41. Analysis Of House Of The Seven Gables Essay Evil within the Portraits The traditional Gothic taste for portraits is frequent in many novels and short stories that follow the conventions of literary mode making it present in these both texts; House of the Seven Gables by Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe s The Oval Portrait. Often the characters in such Gothic romances are haunted by the tyranny of the past, which make it inescapable. It often leads to the destruction of their loved ones. Others motive of escape is often pulled back by a curse that the character creates upon himself. According to The Art of Terror by Maria Antonia Lima she says, These portraits are usually a source of terror, with the past presented as something alive, like a ghost that haunts the present with its terrible mystery. Many authors consider this kind of literature itself as an example of modern art because it can become an anti realist protest and a rebellion of the imagination against the reduction of fiction to the analysis of contemporary habits (Lima 80). The painter introduces the portrait in the Oval Portrait by Edgar Allen Poe as overwhelming to him. The painter changes his behavior by no longer seeing his wife as his wife rather as an image through the lens of his painting. This idea of a portrait can be signified as a curse. A curse that plays with the Pyncheon s and the painter s emotions. In The House of the Seven Gables the portrait of Colonel Pyncheon is presented as an everlasting reminder of its dark past and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Benefits of Artificial Reefs Essay Thesis: When an artificial reef is made many just see trash going into the sea, however there are positive benefits that come from the making of the reef. Perhaps the most obvious benefit of an artificial reef is the creation of a new community for aquatic creatures to live. It is like a developer going out to sea and making a new subdivision out there for fish. This creation of an artificial reef is the most natural way to protect the marine habitat, by providing shelter, a source of food, and an area for mating and reproduction for a numerous amount of creatures. The reason this is so important is because a given area of water can only support so many marine creatures, none of these creatures can live in mid water where there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of this revenue is created by the tourism that these reefs create. If you don t know much about diving here is a figure that will help you, a large percentage of all the tourism industries revenue is from these people diving. When these sites are created this is exactly what they have in mind, attracting thousands of divers to these easily accessible sites. These divers come to see these reefs because the sites are known locations and the organisms growing on and the ecosystem around it is a beautiful site that is a joy to partake in. As a matter of fact the view is so spectacular that today the sale of underwater cameras far exceeds the sale of spear guns, which creates even more revenue for local dive shops. This is why divers travel around the world to get a look at these sites. When these divers come into town this is where the revenue comes in from anything such as boat tours/charters, hotel stays, food consumption, and equipment. Many companies have keyed into this market and have started making their own natural reefs. These companies have used them for everything from submarine tours to burial sites for the deceased ashes. Don t forget about the fishermen, whom are also getting wealthy due to the reefs. The fish swarm to these areas now, so the fishermen know exactly where to fish and fill their boats up. If you use information directly from a source, including the book, make sure to provide a citation. For example, from Peak, (Peak, 2014). 1. We discussed two models of criminal justice in class: Due Process versus Crime Control. Clearly define each model and provide an example, fictional or real, of each model in practice. Due process and Crime control are two models opposite of the spectrum. Due process maintains the constitutional rights of a person innocent until proven guilty . In simple terms, due process is like swinging across the monkey bars to reach the final result of finding one guilty. A good example of due process would be, going to a judge in order to grant a search warrant on a home to make an arrest. On the other hand Crime control is completely different, it goes against the book . Crime control does not favor ones constitutional rights as an individual, and acts as a crime deterrent, and always assuming the party is guilty. Another example would be breaking into someone s home in order to make an illegal arrest because one knows the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Abolishing Slavery Jimmy Watson History May 13, 2009 Abolishing Slavery The American civil war had a profound effect on the lives of slaves. It ultimately resulted in the abolition of slavery. Slaves first arrived in America in Virginia in 1619. The Underground Railway was a way by which slaves could find freedom. This was a method for northerners to help escaped slaves to find a place to live in free states or Canada. Free black Americans were usually the ones to plan and helped with the Underground Railroad. It is believed about 50,000 to 100,000 people used the Underground Railroad to escape to their freedom. The Civil War was fought partly over the issue of slavery. The people that lived in the North opposed the slavery more than the people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final days of the war, the Confederacy even considered using blacks as soldiers, offering freedom as a reward. When given the choice, slaves made it very clear that they wanted emancipation. The overwhelming majority of slaves, however, remained on their plantations in the countryside. Even then these slaves in the Southern interior found ways to demonstrate their desire for freedom. They did not stop working, but they did considerably less work than they had before the war. Lincoln detested slavery, but he doubted whether blacks and whites could ever live in America in a condition of equality. The slaves ran away in massive numbers during the spring and summer of 1862, freeing themselves. Abolitionists who insisted that the war should be one for the freedom of the slaves confronted Lincoln at home. The Emancipation proclamation in January 1863 did not legally free a single slave. Through the proclamation Lincoln silenced his abolitionist critics in the North, defused interventionist sentiment abroad, and invigorated black slave resisters to continue their efforts in the South. Near the end of the war, abolitionists were concerned that the Emancipation Proclamation would be construed solely as a war act and no longer apply once fighting ended. They were also increasingly anxious to secure the freedom of all slaves, not just those freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. Thus pressed, Lincoln staked a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on How to Make the Malahat Safer How to Make the Malahat Safer The debate about how to improve the treacherously narrow and winding Malahat Mountain Highway on South Vancouver Island has been an on going issue since its conception back in 1861 when it was built as a cattle trail, then up graded to wagon road status in 1884 and eventually paved in 1911 (Commission). Currently vital safety upgrades are underway such as concrete barriers to divide the road lanes and stabilization solutions for falling debris. The presence of physical law enforcement units on the highway to manage problems like cell phone usage, impaired drivers and vehicles that are ill equipped for weather conditions is a necessary and crucial part of maintaining safety on the Malahat (Unit). However, due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Construction will encounter further delays due to the precautions that need to be taken to ensure the safety of workers and travellers while work is completed on the busy highway. These delays add to the already significant financial cost of implementing these ideas for widening and improving the existing highway. The economic cost associated with the different proposed options of development for the highway range from an estimated 200 million dollars to 1billion dollars (Transportation). The cheapest option includes upgrades to only a total of 18.8 km (Transportation)of road, and does not allow for a alternate emergency route, as well as still maintaining an inadequate capacity rate and limited improvements over all (Transportation). There are several different options that fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes both in cost and improvement outcomes. These options vary in estimated costs of 300 million 600 million dollars and would improve anywhere from 19.1km 26.2 km of the current highway. • 48. Analysis Of Three Cups Of Tea Three Cups of Tea by David Oliver Relin and Greg Mortenson tells a story that takes the reader along an adventure, up mountains, and across the world. Mortenson is a mountaineer that ends up in Korphe, Pakistan after he fails to climb K2. It is here where he sees poverty unlike anywhere he has yet to be. Mortenson, struck by shock, promises to come back to the small village and build a school in hopes of turning the place around. He ends up raising enough money to fulfil his promise, being promoted to the director of the Central Asia Institute which build schools across the country, and begins to focus more on girls education. Throughout the novel, the overall tone was direct and straightforward, and it is essentially journalistic due to the third person point of view and changing narration. Mortenson discovers a purpose from the result of being lost in a quest to fulfil his duty of director and the continuation of being a humanitarian in these developing countries which is one of the author s purposes of writing this book. In Three Cups of Tea, there are many points in time when Mortenson thinks he has gone in the wrong direction, but ironically ends up right where he needs to be after all which ends up being the main theme of the book: making the best out of a bad situation. The theme is one that many people should be able to relate to: anyone can turn a bad situation into a good one. For instance, when Mortenson could not reach the peak of K2, he is disappointed, however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is Transcendentalism In Into The Wild The transcendentalist philosopher Henry David Thoreau once wrote, Most men even in this comparatively free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the facetious cares and superfluously coarse labors of life that its finer fruits cannot be plucked by them. Thoreau advocated simplifying life and the benefits of living in isolation from society in the wilderness to suck the marrow out of life . In the non fiction book titled Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, the young man Chris McCandless story is told. The native Alaskan Galien told him that he lacked adequate gear and supplies to survive alone in the wilderness. He did not heed the advice of an experienced Alaskan who hunted. This purposeful unpreparedness was a major contributor to his death. Another instance of McCandless disrespect for nature is that he was not knowledgeable about the terrain and went, despite being inexperienced in surviving solo with minimal supplies in the frozen tundra of Alaska. During his trip he successfully killed a moose, but wasted most of the meat by not knowing how to properly preserve the meat to last him a longer period of time.
