Importance Of Indissolubility Of Marriage

Divorce, remarriage and the Catholic Church
The Indissolubility of marriage: Still relevant today?
I was born and raised in a conservative catholic family. If I say today that I am more liberal as far
as the Catholic doctrine is concerned my mother will probably have a heart attack. My parents have
always strongly believed in the Catholic laws and traditions. Indissolubility of marriage was one of
the principles I was raised to respect and obey. The Catholic canon law (Can. 1056) stipulates
that, the essential properties of marriage are unity and indissolubility, which in Christian
marriage obtain a special firmness by reason of the sacrament . This means that, one s a man and
a woman get married, there is no possibility to get divorced and worst of all, and they are banned
from taking the communion at the mass. I was raised to believe in this solely. Growing up, I met
incredible people and I learned so much about life. My strong believe in the indissolubility of
marriage started dwindling. With time, I started questioning myself. Is it right for the Catholic
Church to keep the remarried or divorced couples from taking the communion? Maintaining this
law on the indissolubility of marriage, the Catholic Church does not only force couples to switch to
other religions, but it also does not respect and honor its creed which forgiveness and love.
Real life is far from what the church teaches us. The Catholic Church

The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr )
Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of
paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the
EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a
longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic
findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in
America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an
effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and
implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful
use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare
system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical
Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act
(ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the
nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use
in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS ) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT
(ONC) consider meaningful use of interoperable electronic health records

The Effects Of Smoking On The United States
Smoking is established as a recognized cause of cancer, lung disease, coronary heart disease, and
stroke(US Public Health Service,1964,Doll R 1976,1994, US Department of Health and Human
Services,1989).it is considered to be the single most important avoidable cause of premature
morbidity and mortality in the world. WHO has estimated that there are about 1100 million
smokers worldwide; this represents about one third of the global population aged over 15 years
(WHO,1997). About 73% of these smokers (700 million males, 100 million females) are in
developing countries; in industrialized countries there are 200 million male smokers and 100
million female smokers. In the over 15 year old population of developing countries, it is
estimated that about 48% of males and 7% of females are smokers. The corresponding figures for
industrialized countries are 42% for males and 24% for females (WHO,1997).
Logistic Regression Model: The logistic regression models has wide ranging applications from
determining the population growth and its determinants to applications for predicting and
analyzing qualitative data and in epidemiological studies. Logistic regression model postulates
relationship between the log odds of a disease and the risk factors. A regression predicts the
probability that an observation falls into one of two categories of a dichotomous dependent variable
based on one or more independent variables that can be either continuous or categorical.

These people are Tatsuo Matsuo who is a HR manager of Fujitsu, Shinya Kitagawa who is a HR
manager of Hitachi, and Dr. Thomas Field who is a director of the Agribusiness Entrepreneurship
program. The following are the details:
Tatsuo Matsuo:
Mr. Matsuo is a competent HR manager with 12 years experience in HR consultations. He is
interested in developing his own company that consults how to hire and train new and existing
employees. He asked me for my opinion.
I introduced him about my project profile about the Talent ManagementCompany, which is an
innovative concept in organizational behavior to hire, train, and maintain top performers in
companies. However, because this is a new HR program, most companies do not know to align
Talent Management within their HR strategies.
Then, I explained the overview about the Talent Management project. Mr. Matsuo said that he
would like to know more about my project on Skype in a week.
Shinya Kitagawa:
Shinya is a capable HR manager at Hitachi Corporation as well as my close friend of ten years.
He is also thinking about developing his own company in the future. His interest is a Global

Ritual Differences Between Bar Mitzvah And Confirmation
Study of Religion Term 3 2015
Multimodal Presentation
Rituals play a significant role in all cultures. A ritual is the practice or embodiment of beliefs
expressed in structured action or prescribed procedures that often link to the sacred. Rituals are
created by taking events from everyday life and giving them some sort of symbolic meaning. As
one of the founding concepts of our discipline, ritual has long been a cornerstone of anthropological
thought: from the works of Emile Durkheim through Arnold van Gennep, Victor Turner and Terry
Lovat. Within this presentation I will be outlining the similarities and differences between Bar
Mitzvah and Confirmation, and I will also explain the impact which the ritual has on the individual
and society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ritual usually will take place either during the main Sunday mass or at a special service. It
can either take place within the cathedral or another church in the diocese. Most of the
confirmation service will normally be performed at the front of the church, but during the renewal
of baptismal promises, the candidates may be asked to gather around the font. When you re
confirmed, you get to choose a Confirmation name to add to your first and middle names.

The Four Noble Truth In Buddhism

The Cardiovascular System From The National Nutrition Of...
This paper will examine the possible consequences on the cardiovascular system from the national
nutrition of Kazakhstan. I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the
food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio
surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to
stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had
many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find
the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has
tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the
clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was
before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have
broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions.
Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the
cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . So, the
purpose of this research is to confirm or refute this hypothesis and try to identify to what extent
traditional meals influence the development of cardiovascular diseases.
The heart and circulatory system make up the cardiovascular system.

Rene Descartes Wax Argument
Descartes uses the wax argument in order to present his observations in Mediation II . He starts
off by discussing a piece of wax (a body) as fresh from honeycomb. He then provides a detailed
description of it through what his senses perceive. For example, he describes, Its color, shape
size are plain to see; it is hard, cold...if you rap it with your knuckle it makes a sound (Descartes
1988, p.84). He then puts the wax by fire wherein it melts and all the qualities we had earlier
perceived of it disappear. As a result, Descartes questions that if we eliminate the qualities
observed by our sense perception of a body, can we still claim that the body remains? To clarify,
although our initial perception of the wax differs from our perception now of the wax, we still
agree that that the same wax is present: It must be admitted that it does; no one denies it, no one
thinks otherwise (Descartes 1988, p.84).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this in mind, he strongly argues that the sensory perceptions only recognize the qualities of
that body of wax in which the wax presented itself to us. He moves on to saying that by
eliminating the qualities that we now identify as unessential in order to distinguish the wax, we
now have something that is extended, flexible, and changeable (Descartes 1988, p. 84). Therefore,
he clarifies that our sensory perceptions or imagination are not capable enough in order to
distinguish a piece of wax, rather this is the sole judgment of the mind. For example, although we
can imagine the wax to undergo certain changes and still have the remaining qualities of being
extended, flexible, etc... we cannot imagine all the possible changes because that is outside of the
parameters of the

An Explanation Of Spiritual Vibrancy
It is a simple fact of life that one s hunger on any given day or time is not assuaged by singing
praises of a meal consumed a day or earlier, but rather it is satiated through availability of fresh
meal at that point in time. This verse uses this fact as an analogy to establish that spiritual vibrancy
is only possible through fresh spiritual nourishment provided by the Satguru or the Imam of the
Time. Hence, the faithful are urged to adore and venerate the incumbent Imam.
In the context of this verse, the term Е«gД«yo means ascendant or risen , as in sЕ«raj Е«gД«yo
(the sun has risen). According to the Gujaratilexicon, one of the meanings of the word
dhД«yДЃД«e is worship through contemplation . VДЃro in the second line means time ... Show

Thus, this verse reinforces the pivotal Ismaili tenet of ḥāḍir (present) and mawjūd (living)
Imam, whose presence on the earth as the Saviour par excellence is an absolute necessity,
according to the Ginans. Hence, one of the recurring themes of this composition is the salvific and
redemptive role and function of the Satguru or the Imam. Shedding light on the central role of the
ḥāḍir and mawjūd Imam in the fulfillment of very raison d être of life on earth, Shafique
Virani explains in his book, The Ismailis in the Middle Ages:
In documents spanning the entire period of two hundred and fifty years after Alamut s fall to the
Mongols, we find an emphasis on the absolute and uncompromising necessity for a present
(ḥāḍir) and living (mawjūd) Imam, the manifest guide without whom the universe would
simply cease to exist. God s very purpose in creating the world was that humankind recognize him.
However, in Ismaili belief, God qua God is beyond any idea that the human intellect, in its
imperfection, could possibly conceive. Only the perfect intellect could lead the human intellect to
recognize its Creator. Hence, throughout the works of this period we find a common thread of utter
and total devotion, affection, love, and submission to the perfect

My 3 Values Essay
Maturity is achieved when a person postpones immediate pleasures for long term values, according
to Joshua Liebman. Values can be just about anything that you can imagine. My 3 values are
respect, loyalty, and honesty. I believe that my three values are what describe me and will help me
when I m older with the decisions that I make.
Respect is one of the most important values to me because they mostly matter in the way that if
someone shows no respect for you or others they more than likely have no respect coming to
themselves or showing it to others. To be respected, learn to respect others to show growth and

To have loyalty in life, can go a long way, most of my values, and goals, the mostly contribute to
the fact that, promotion and advancement are the two main consistent goals in my life. Loyalty
contributes to many things in life such as how we work relationships. Loyalty is treated in my
different ways, I had a dog named Rex, he was a small Pitbull mixed with Boxer, him and I, were
playing outside one day, he saw another boy, and ran off with him, I thought he would ve came
back, but he never showed up, I thought I could never have another dog without knowing what
happened to my first dog. I realized that you have to move on from the hard and difficult and just
accept life, even if it is hard, just never giving up or not stopping because of one person or of one
thing that is making you stop and not accomplish your dreams. Loyalty is the second value most

Abstract
According to the AMA dictionary of Business and Management (2013), Porter s Five Forces can
be described as a Framework developed by business professor Michael Porter for analyzing the
balance of power within a particular industry and its profitability. The following are the five forces:
Bargaining Power of Buyers, Bargaining Power of Suppliers, Competitive Rivalry in the Industry,

Automotive Industry Defined
Binder Rae (2017) defined the automotive industry as an industry that consists of all companies and
activities involved in the manufacturing of motor vehicles. It is key to note that this includes
aspects such as the building of components such as engines, and bodies of automobiles, but,
according to Binder Rae, excludes aspects such has tires, batteries, and fuel. Binder Rae states that
the primary products that the automotive industry manufactures are passenger automobiles and
light trucks, and commercial vehicles.
Automotive Industry Profile Outlook
Ferro (2015) identifies that the automotive industry is both capital and labor intensive. This is
shown through the management of costs and expenses associated with the manufacturing of vehicles
(e.g., facilities, materials, parts, equipment, product development, and employment). Further, Ferro
discusses that the prices of key raw materials, such as steel, can fluctuate which requires the
industry to be strategically flexible.
In the United States the automotive industry is the largest single manufacturing enterprise in terms
of total value of products, value added by manufacture, and number of wage earners employed,
according to Binder Rae (2017). As well, Bind Rae state that one of every six American

Miserism In A Christmas Carol
Books are written in different time periods and are read by the people during that time and the
following generations to come. The way that each book is interpreted may differ depending on the
time period, because there will be changes in the ways of thinking depending on the historical or
cultural context. In A Christmas Carolwritten by Charles Dickensduring the Industrial Revolution,
the belief that everyone should become charitable instead of miserly is represented throughout the
novella. In another novel, The Old Man and the Sea written by Ernest Hemingway, Santiago an

who are below their social group through Scrooge. He believes that his readers would avoid
making the mistakes that Ebenezer Scrooge made. Additionally, if a person from the United
States in 2015 were to read this novella, the message of being generous towards others, that
Dickens communicates, would still be transmitted. This is because by going through Scrooge s
life in the past, present and future, and showing him learning his lessons, transfers to the
readers, who then learn the lesson as well. In addition, there are times when Dickens reveals
Scrooge s self realization in hopes that the readers will too. For example, the realization that he
is the fault of his misery and has no one to blame for it, he vows, I will live in the Past, the
Present, and the Future! ...The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me (61) and becomes a very
merry and unselfish person. Furthermore, by overtly having Scrooge speak the lesson more than
once, readers in any time period could learn Dickens belief that he tried to convey throughout the

Thomas Paine Questions
1. Why do you think Thomas Paine writes Common Sense anonymously? How does he think his
work will be remembered? Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense anonymously because the ideas he
used in writing the book were contradicting the government at that time. If the government knew
that he wrote it then they will take action against him to punish him. He probably thought that his
work would remain as something memorable such as it was only there to raise the spirit of the
colonist to fight back and to stand up against the government.
2. According to Paine, what is the difference between society and government? Paine states that
society and government are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6. What is the view of Gideon that Paine uses as an example? As the exalting one man so greatly
above the rest cannot be justified on the equal rights of nature, so neither can it be defended on
the authority of scripture; for the will of the Almighty (Gideon). From this quote of Gideon, we
can assume Gideon s point of views. He thinks that all men are equal and no one man can be
above the rest. He also thinks that only God can rule over people.
7. What does Paine think that America will gain by separating from England? According to Paine,
America will gain by separating from England is that it would not get contaminated by the
monarchy he has been criticizing. Then, America will gain wealth and most importantly it will gain
independence.
8.Describe Thomas Paine s life and background, including where he is originally from and what
his reputation was before, during, and after writing Common Sense. On January 29, 1737,
Thomas Paine was born in Thetford, England. His father had grand visions for his son, but by the
age of 12, Thomas had failed out of school. The young Paine began apprenticing for his father, but
again, he failed. So, by 1768 he found himself as a tax officer

How Discipline Is Not Easy
Discipline has always been, to me, a thought of growing in yourself or in this case growing in
your relationship with Christ. Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we
discipline ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in
many aspects. Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality.
Meaning, the inner and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to
describe fasting, prayer, worship, and even celebration. When Jesusspoke of spiritual discipline, he
hardly gives instruction of how to discipline ourselves spiritually. This book book gives more of
an outline/guidance to types of disciplines that could help you in your spiritual journey. There are
three types of disciplines discussed in this book, along with many sub categories within each type.
All these groups are used to help one form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are
inward, outward, and corporate discipline. Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on
your inner self/spiritual life. This involves things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying.
Outward disciple is more of what you can do as an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such
as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. These are still self centered but more focused on
the outside actions rather than the inside actions. Finally, we have the corporate discipline. This

Aristophanes Speech On Love And Happiness
The philosopher I have chosen for this assignment is Plato, in Symposium. Based on the readings
of The Speech of Aristophanes, the theorist Aristophanes states that the key to love and happiness
is the search to finding ones other half , in which the couple becomes together or whole . In the
quest to becoming one , the individuals find themselves in a lifelong togetherness, what some
claim to be considered finding your soul mate When becoming whole the newly formed
partnership embrace in sexual relations and share experiences with one another. In order to fully
understand Aristophanes concept of erotic love, it is imperative to summarize and highlight details
of the story in The Speech of Aristophanes. The form of Aristophanes speech, comes in as a myth
of a story long ago where there were three genders: male, female and androgynous, all of which
were twice what they humans are now. For example, two sets of hands and two sets of legs. Though
the gods hated these beings, they knew they could not kill them, as forfeiting humans as sacrifices.
So, in replace Zeus decided to cut the humans into two, but keeping them whole on either side,
including their genitals. Because the humans, now half, had been whole for so long, they
constantly had urges to find their other half to make them whole again, which begins Aristophanes
theory of longing for one another. When found by another half, the couple would embrace in sexual
activity and not want anything else,

President Andrew Jackson
In regards to the overall effect a single president has had in the course of US history, President
Andrew Jackson should be taken into consideration. Though his morals and personality have long
been critiqued and scrutinized, Jackson s presidency had an indisputable effect upon the power of
the president as an individual. Jackson s profound influence upon the office of presidency was
exemplified within his fiscal, social, and political interventions in American politics during the mid
nineteenth century.
President Andrew Jackson changed the office of presidency through his continuous actions, which
served to diminish the power of the federal government thus increasing both his political and
economic agendas. The economic policies Jackson enacted demonstrated his distrust of both large
government and Northeastern power brokers. Due to his hatred for big government, Jackson
detested the Bank of the United States. Jackson ensured that the Second Bank of the United States
(BUS) failed by vetoing Congress s attempt to recharter it in ..... In addition Jackson also secured
its decrepit state by withdrawing federal funds from the bank, which he later would deposit in his
pet banks. Although his hatred for the bank invoked controversy there were many that shared his
economic beliefs. In Doc 4 this is exemplified as Jackson is portrayed is the hero slaying the hydra
headed monster. The portrayal of the Bank of the United States as a mythological monster

Nineteenth Century Egypt
Nineteenth century Egypt held a pivotal stance in European politics and sparked high interest in the
Great European Powers. A dynasty of slave soldiers referred to as the Mamluks were of the earliest
rulers of Egypt. The French, Ottomans, and British all affirmed their intent on seizing the country s
bustling city capital of Cairo, with some conquests being more successful than others. France and
Britain stood as worthy leaders, but it was the basic political, social, and economical foundations
created by the Ottomans that most influenced nineteenth century Egypt. Nevertheless, each of these
world powers played a significant role in modernizing Egypt and shaping the course of its
history. The Mamluks held control of large parts of Egypt in the early eighteenth century.
However, they were not a unified force. Several Mamluk families fought for control for over a
decade, and the final years of Mamluk rule were absolutely catastrophic for Egypt. The endless
fighting alongside the extremely high taxes destroyed Egypt s trade, which was one of the first
triggers of the French invasion. Napoleon Bonaparte intended on protecting French trade interests
and also using Egypt to weaken Britain s access to India. With pride and arrogance he believed that
Egypt was to benefit from the new developments and institutions made possible by the French, just
as had happened in their own revolution. He expected the Egyptian population, who was suffering
under Mamluk rule, to welcome them as

Death is a part of nature and something that everyone must face. The poet writes about his father s

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s novel, The Palace of Illusions is the epitome of feminism. It retells

By the time the author had completed writing Notes from Underground the society had moved to
liberalism and abandoned reasoning and enlightenment (Frank 35). This is clearly represented in
this novel since by the end, as the author concluded that there was more to man than enlightenment
and reasoning.
The underground man is an educated, literate, forty year old financially stable man, who, lives in a
modern society. As the novel progresses, the underground man remembers the days he used to work
without any affection. The man lives now alone in a place described as unattractive where he is
completely cut off from friends and family (Fanger 5). This situation provides an indication of the
troubles underground man is going through for they do not arise from work, money problems or the
lack of social interaction opportunities. This man has money, is educated and has plenty of social
interaction opportunities but he d rather remain in his solitude, Dostoevsky shows that in all respect
the man has reached enlightenment (Frank 36).
The problems of underground man are all concerned with what is happening to him from the
inside. This man is suffering from a disease that arises from his lack of feeling completely healthy.
Though the novel has depicted many medical discussions on doctors, liver problems, medicines, the
real disease is emotional distress. The entire first section of the book is about how emotionally
troubled the underground

Youth Apathy And Apathy
A common sentiment among the older generations is that the youth of today have stopped caring.
The youth of today are almost always disengaged with politics and world issues (K.), and it seems
that apathy has taken hold of the new generation. However, youth apathy should not be blamed on
the youth themselves, as this apathy comes from a culmination of pressures and circumstances
beyond their control. This is due to popular shows promoting the message of apathy, the biology of
young adults and teenagers, and the oversaturation of world issues in the media. Instead of pushing
blame on youth for their apathetic leanings, it is time to examine the core of why youth begin to
feel this way. The average youth spends 9 hours per day consuming... Show more content on

Moreover, in some teenagers it may be more than hormones. A study by Oxford University
found that [it may be] more of an effort for apathetic people to turn decisions into actions ( Brain
). As such, some adolescents may be biologically predisposed to apathy, as it takes them more
time to make decisions than their more engaged counterparts. To summarise, the problem of
apathy among youth comes from the youth s biology. The prevalence of negative news within
the media has also become detrimental to the engagement of youth. The exposure to negative
media within the news can cause teenagers to experience a large amount of emotional distress,
sometimes leading to the development of post traumatic stress disorder (Pollard). As such,
adolescents bombarded by negative news may become too overwhelmed by the news that they
view, thus causing them to prefer escapism to activism. A survey from Times Mirror shows that
while more people think the news is too full of violence, fewer people today than in the 1980 s
believe that the news exaggerates the amount of violence in America (Clark). Thusly, as people
believe that the news, though full of violence, does not exaggerate this violence, adolescents
surrounded by this news may begin to feel overwhelmed by the negativity, and will stop caring.
Overall, the perceived prevalence of negative

The duo summarize their own perspective on the conundrum known as Bartleby, and analyze a
couple of other point of views. One of the perspectives they analyze is Bartleby as a political
figure. Their view agrees with what Heneghan has presented in her argument stating Bartleby to
be perceived as the disappearing working class: authors have approached Bartleby as a political
representative, a representative of the working classes, of organization man (Beverungen and
Dunne). The pair go on to state that Bartleby was meant to embody the idea of the alienated
worker as a politicized Bartleby. In this aspect of their critique, one can agree with Beverungen
and Dunne. The duo also analyze Bartleby as an originary character. As an originary character,
Bartleby is confined to be a character who is an outcast from the working society: Bartleby seeks
to be outside or beyond the social, to escape his entrapment inside the social to exceed the social
(Beverungen and Dunne). This perspective also supports the proposition that Melville alienates
his characters from each other. The final perspective that the partners acknowledge is Bartleby as
a carefree character. This perspective shows Bartleby as an individual whom has no care for any
authority. This is disagreeable to the view on alienation because he is not a carefree and lazy
individual to begin with. He had a great work ethic initially, but it diminished over time with his

Why Is Individuality Important
In a time like the 21st century, individuality is especially important. Everywhere you go there s a
person that s trying to either be themselves or they re trying to be like someone else. Everyone
has her own sense of uniqueness, some people either keep it to themselves, or they like to make it
known that they are different. Individuality is the genre of music you like, it s the hobbies you like
to do in your free time, it s the little thingsyou do that define who you are. Finding your personal
individuality is a part of life. Throughout life you have been surrounded by things that will shape
who you are and those thing will help determine who you will become to be.
It is important to express your selfness. In order to do that you must be comfortable with who
you are and you must accept the fact that you are unlike anyone else. This isn t a bad thing at all.

Some people think that being yourself is a bad excuse to be selfish and to not conform to
society. Personally I think that establishing your individuality is important to do because people
need to express who they are and not try to be like each other. For example, I rap and in order to
gain fans I try to distinguish myself from other rappers on Soundcloud because if not, no one will
want to make music with me which will make it even harder to become known. Growing up as a
kid I didn t exactly fit in with all the other popular kids. As i got older it meant more to me to be
who I am. Come to find out i fit in more if i was just myself. I realized that I m not that different
from other people because some people are just as weird as me. That s when I realized individuality
is something to not be ashamed of. No two people are exactly alike and I feel that it s a part of life

Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock
The Restoration Period (1660 1700) was a period of social, political and philosophical turmoil,
which laid the foundation for future centuries. This period was marked by an advance in
colonization and trade and by the birth of the Whig and Tory parties. In poetry, works of Alexander
Pope and Anne Finch and a number of other poets distinguishes the Restoration. But, there are
several objections from these poets; one particular opposition occurs between Pope s The Rape of

The events that Pope describes in this poem occur between Belinda, who is motivated by pride
and vanity and Baron, who is driven by ambition. Belinda s energy is driven to attract a man and
pretend to be affectionate and then cast him off for another. Baron oversteps his boundaries of
acceptable behavior by acting with force toward the desirable woman. The Rape of the Lock is
both a scornful description of a ridiculous social situation and a serious analysis of consequences
of flattering self esteem and desire. The Rape of the Lock is a staple of neoclassical writing; it
includes wit and wit is characterized by parallelism and balance. It contains epic conventions
such as war (between the sexes), epic game (played on the velvet plain of the card table), a
journey (to the underworld), and battle. Pope writes by describing the man as the hero. But Finch
writes her poetry in regards to women. When Anne Finch wrote, she followed a particularly
intellectual course, not only for women but also for anyone at the time. She wrote about
philosophy; her philosophical work had another important source: her own physical pain. She was
concerned to provide theodicy for her writers. She attempted to reunite the existence of a

The Great Reform Act 1832
The main issue is one that affected most of Society in the early 20th century. The main issue
stemmed from outcry at The Great Reform Act 1832 which was introduced to amend the
representation of the people in England and Wales. Before the 1832 Reform Act most men and
all women did not have the vote. This act created a wider franchise but used the term male
person , specifically excluding women. Alternative acts helped to enfranchise new sections of
society and gave most men the vote, leaving sex the principal ground for disqualification. As a
result, debates about fitness for citizenship and the vote, which had previously centred around
wealth, property ownership and education, now revolved around questions of gender. It was that
women, did not have the right to vote for the men that were in power creating laws and such
which they had to follow. The laws and aspects of society which they were made to follow
without any say in the creation of them were things such as taxes. Women were denied the vote for
many reasons, most being justified by men. Most men and some women at the time, against
women gaining the vote believed in Conservatism, they thought that the way the laws were, had
been the same for many years, and they saw no need to change something that worked for the
benefit of all those in society at the time. it was also a widespread belief that women should remain
in the home and take care of their natural duties , such as cleaning, cooking, etc. Women at

Top 40 Richest Families in Pakistan
F ollowing is the list of the top 40 richest families in Pakistan at the moment. I received it through
a friend and have no idea about how authentic it is. It is an interesting read and does seem like
that if not 100%, then it must 80% correct. However, it has missed some families which are sure
to make the top 10, of the top of my head I can think of two: Giga (Pardesi family) and the family
that owns ARY. Both of them gave the government of Pakistan
huge interest free loans when it was
on the brink of default after the sanctions imposed due to the nuclear tests almost crippled Pakistan.
Anyway, check it out if you have time, as it is quite a long post.

The Role Of Poetry In The Bard By James Thomson And Thomas...
The role of the poet is constructed through various means within the poetry of the eighteenth
century. This essay shall James Thomson and Thomas Gray in their construction of the role of
the poet. Thomson s Spring conveys the role of the poet as being multifaceted. Contrary to this,
Gray establishes the role of the poet as one of isolation and being an outsider whilst expressing
anxiety over the declining role of the poet, as seen in The Bard . To begin, this essay shall
examine the forms used by the poets. Thomson makes of the Miltonic blank verse. By doing this,
the role of the poet is conveyed as multifaceted as a range of subjects are discussed. Gray uses the
form of the Pindaric ode in order to establish the idea of the poet being... Show more content on

The ode was considered to create distance between the poet and the audience (Zionkowski,
pg334). This is conveyed through the emotional complexity of the ode. The ode works in the
genre of both eulogy, as the bard is in mourning, and exulting through the victory of the bard in
the end. However, the reader is unable to sympathise with the bard figure which creates a
distance between both reader and poet. The emotion is more than mourning. The poet is
mourning over the loss of his own community, the Welsh bards, and is the last of his kind. The
reader is unable to connect emotionally with the bard as the reader has not experienced this
type of loss. Thus distance is created, leading to the poet being isolated. This then aids in turning
the audience into a passive object much like Edward and his army is passive in the bard s
prophecy (Zionkowski, pg345). Thus, the role of the poet becomes one of distance from the
readership, placing the audience as being passive. Thus through the form, the role of the poet is
constructed. By placing themselves in a literary tradition, Thomson and Gray highlight a deep
lineage the poet has. The role of the poet, therefore, is part of a larger history and tradition.
Furthermore, Thomson is able to construct the role of the poet as being multifaceted as the freedom
of the Miltonic blank verse allows him to cover various subjects. The use of Pindaric ode creates
distance between the poet and reader. This is due to the deep emotional complexity of the subject
matter which the reader cannot sympathise with. Thus, the audience is kept at a distance, unable to
interact with the text. The poem is then only author centered (Zionkowski,

Analysis and Critique of Reading Assignment 1 Paper Limits of Instruction Level Parallelism
In this report the author provides quantifiable results that show the available parallelism. The report
defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction,
Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of
eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant
effects of the variations on the standard models. The seven models reflect parallelism that is
available by various compiler/architecture techniques like branch prediction, register renaming etc.

Though this is a good way to increase the available parallelism, but loop unrolling schemes have
difficulty in scheduling instructions efficiently with variable latency dependencies. The new
techniques of dynamic history based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us
to benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly
even when we are using a 1 megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size
of the predictor, though even a tiny 4 bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The
same is evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite
insensitive to the size of the predictor. We look for paths of few conditional branches, up to the
fanout limit, but that we do not look past branches beyond that point. After the fanout limit is
reached dynamic prediction is used to look for instructions from the one predicted path to schedule.
When fanout is followed by good branch prediction, the fanout does not affect much. Parallelism
via jump prediction; Subroutine with return ring technique are used. Smaller the return prediction
ring improves some programs a lot, even under the Great model. A large return ring,

Why ShouldnT Tommy And Jim Have Sex John Corvino Analysis
John Corvino s article Why Shouldn t Tommy and Jim Have Sex? (Shafer Landau 209 222) is
the material I have chosen to review for my final analysis paper. Homosexuality has been
something that has plagued my generation with confusion and doubt. I grew up at the tail end of
the AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) epidemic and can remember when major
news networks were blaming homosexuals for the rapid spread of this particular disease. I have
also seen the passing of many pro gay rights acts and in many ways this was my generation s civil
rights advancement for future generations. This topic has been very controversial for many years
and each generation has their own personal view on the matter and I think Corvino did an excellent

Like most couples Corvino assumes that they must engage in sexual activity for the same reason
that any heterosexual couple would that it is pleasurable. Sex can help unite a couple and open an
avenue of growth that would only help to strengthen the bond between two people.
One of the first major argument is that it is unnatural , Corvino easily dismisses this argument
because under that explanation nothing is normal not clothing, organized religion or governments.
The only thing that would be natural would be nature. In nature there are some species that do
engage in homosexual activity. So by this natural standard it could not be used to reject Tommy and
Jim.
Another argument against homosexuals is that it is harmful to society through the spread of
sexually transmitted diseases (STD), by denying population growth and how it harms our
youth. The first issue is addressed by simple process of elimination if homosexual males are at
the highest risk of getting an STD and lesbian women at the lowest risk. Than Corvino is able to
challenge the argument by concluding that if you are only choosing a partner based on risk of
disease than women should only be with other women as the risk is the lowest. However most
people do not chose a partner based on these principles. As for the issue of not having sex for only
procreation purposes is absurd. Even the Catholic church prohibits sex during pregnancy and for
pleasure

The Slavery Of The Young Slave Girl Essay
Jacobs was sexually abused by her master and was in bondage for seven years before escaped to
her freedom. Brent stated, The poor mother turned away, sobbing. Her dying daughter called
her, feebly, and as she bent over her, I heard her say, don t grieve so, mother; God knows all

girl because she was in agony during child birth. The young slave girl and newly born white
child died after she gave birth. The mistress thought she did not deserve heaven. The young slave
girl said to her mother before she passed away that God will have mercy on her. The master
sexually abuses the young slave girl and when she is pregnant, the mistress believed is the slave
girl s fault. This is shameful and awful thinking. The young slave girl told her mother God
should have mercy on her before she died to indicate guilt. The slave shareholders believed she
was a Jezebel and promiscuous. Also, many of the enslaved women would be raped by their
masters, and in a situation where they got pregnant, the slave women would be forced to carry the
pregnancy yet the perpetrators could not bear any responsibility. The enslaved women would
afterwards face constant abuse by the master s mistresses whom whenever they saw the bi sexual

How the Deaf Communicate in a Hearing World Essay
Imagine what life would be like with the inability to hear. Try to envision watching television
without sound or watching an inaudible movie. There is a silence that has way of making the
busiest scenes seem still. Now try to imagine a lively area filled with lots of laughter, roaring
music, and a handful of birds chirping away. That imagery paints a scene of the plain difference
between a hearing world and a deaf one. One world is capable of hearing and the other involves no
incoming source of sound whatsoever. Understanding how deaf cultureand how the hard of hearing

things they do such as stare at others for a long period of time or the reason... Show more content on

They did not know how to react to the deaf that is until Plato, a Greek philosopher, wrote on the
account of sign language in Ancient Greece which then resulted in a spark in the interests of
other philosophers, writers, and artists (Mirzoeff). On the other hand, Aristotle, another Greek
philosopher, who has been known as one who first recorded a claim about the deaf, theorized
that people were only able to learn languages if the spoken language was heard implying that deaf
people were unable to learn effectively or at all and may as well be uneducated (Jay). It is
important to know and realize that the cause of deafness was not just because of genetics, but
because of diseases which then resulted in the side effect of hearing loss (Mirzoeff). Meningitis,
measles, or mumps were common diseases that would cause the loss of hearing back in the early
modern period (Mirzoeff).
In past times, an issue that occurred most often was how to respond to the deaf in terms of
education. They most certainly were not able to hear which meant that they also would not be able
to speak clearly or at all; many questioned how they would be able to comprehend others or
communicate with them in that kind of setting. There were little to no schools that educated deaf
children until Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, a man with great intellect, decided that what he wanted
do in life was to contribute to the deaf world ( Thomas H. Gallaudet ). Gallaudet, founder of

The postmodern style of writing John Kennedy Toole, makes so that the various cast of the
characters in the story are much closer to people in real life making this book a perfect case to
study and relate to characters of people across the world .
Ignatius is introduced to us as a obnoxious and gruesome character A green hunting cap squeezed
the top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and
the fine bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals
indicating two directions at once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to
impress us with Ignatius. He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every
sense of his character is an attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and disgusting yet
he judges other people, Ignatius s appearance is a symbol for what lies beneath, his taste in
clothing hints at his care for his own comfort which he seems to care about more than anything
else except for his ego. Ignatius does not change throughout the story. This however, is not due to
his incapability to change, he is simply not willing to change and he blames Fortuna! on every

that which we cannot change. It describes the plight of a just man in an unjust society. It is the very

  • 2. Importance Of Indissolubility Of Marriage Name: Michelle Kemdjo Ghomsi Instructor: Padmaja Challakere Divorce, remarriage and the Catholic Church The Indissolubility of marriage: Still relevant today? I was born and raised in a conservative catholic family. If I say today that I am more liberal as far as the Catholic doctrine is concerned my mother will probably have a heart attack. My parents have always strongly believed in the Catholic laws and traditions. Indissolubility of marriage was one of the principles I was raised to respect and obey. The Catholic canon law (Can. 1056) stipulates that, the essential properties of marriage are unity and indissolubility, which in Christian marriage obtain a special firmness by reason of the sacrament . This means that, one s a man and a woman get married, there is no possibility to get divorced and worst of all, and they are banned from taking the communion at the mass. I was raised to believe in this solely. Growing up, I met incredible people and I learned so much about life. My strong believe in the indissolubility of marriage started dwindling. With time, I started questioning myself. Is it right for the Catholic Church to keep the remarried or divorced couples from taking the communion? Maintaining this law on the indissolubility of marriage, the Catholic Church does not only force couples to switch to other religions, but it also does not respect and honor its creed which forgiveness and love. Real life is far from what the church teaches us. The Catholic Church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act (ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS ) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) consider meaningful use of interoperable electronic health records ... I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions. Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . So, the purpose of this research is to confirm or refute this hypothesis and try to identify to what extent traditional meals influence the development of cardiovascular diseases. The heart and circulatory system make up the cardiovascular system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Rene Descartes Wax Argument Descartes uses the wax argument in order to present his observations in Mediation II . He starts off by discussing a piece of wax (a body) as fresh from honeycomb. He then provides a detailed description of it through what his senses perceive. For example, he describes, Its color, shape size are plain to see; it is hard, cold...if you rap it with your knuckle it makes a sound (Descartes 1988, p.84). He then puts the wax by fire wherein it melts and all the qualities we had earlier perceived of it disappear. As a result, Descartes questions that if we eliminate the qualities observed by our sense perception of a body, can we still claim that the body remains? To clarify, although our initial perception of the wax differs from our perception now of the wax, we still agree that that the same wax is present: It must be admitted that it does; no one denies it, no one thinks otherwise (Descartes 1988, p.84).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this in mind, he strongly argues that the sensory perceptions only recognize the qualities of that body of wax in which the wax presented itself to us. He moves on to saying that by eliminating the qualities that we now identify as unessential in order to distinguish the wax, we now have something that is extended, flexible, and changeable (Descartes 1988, p. 84). Therefore, he clarifies that our sensory perceptions or imagination are not capable enough in order to distinguish a piece of wax, rather this is the sole judgment of the mind. For example, although we can imagine the wax to undergo certain changes and still have the remaining qualities of being extended, flexible, etc... we cannot imagine all the possible changes because that is outside of the parameters of the ... • 14. An Explanation Of Spiritual Vibrancy It is a simple fact of life that one s hunger on any given day or time is not assuaged by singing praises of a meal consumed a day or earlier, but rather it is satiated through availability of fresh meal at that point in time. This verse uses this fact as an analogy to establish that spiritual vibrancy is only possible through fresh spiritual nourishment provided by the Satguru or the Imam of the Time. Hence, the faithful are urged to adore and venerate the incumbent Imam. In the context of this verse, the term Е«gД«yo means ascendant or risen , as in sЕ«raj Е«gД«yo (the sun has risen). Shedding light on the central role of the ḥāḍir and mawjЕ«d Imam in the fulfillment of very raison d ГЄtre of life on earth, Shafique Virani explains in his book, The Ismailis in the Middle Ages: In documents spanning the entire period of two hundred and fifty years after Alamut s fall to the Mongols, we find an emphasis on the absolute and uncompromising necessity for a present (ḥāḍir) and living (mawjЕ«d) Imam, the manifest guide without whom the universe would simply cease to exist. God s very purpose in creating the world was that humankind recognize him. However, in Ismaili belief, God qua God is beyond any idea that the human intellect, in its imperfection, could possibly conceive. Based on the readings of The Speech of Aristophanes, the theorist Aristophanes states that the key to love and happiness is the search to finding ones other half , in which the couple becomes together or whole . In the quest to becoming one , the individuals find themselves in a lifelong togetherness, what some claim to be considered finding your soul mate When becoming whole the newly formed partnership embrace in sexual relations and share experiences with one another. In order to fully understand Aristophanes concept of erotic love, it is imperative to summarize and highlight details of the story in The Speech of Aristophanes. The form of Aristophanes speech, comes in as a myth of a story long ago where there were three genders: male, female and androgynous, all of which were twice what they humans are now. For example, two sets of hands and two sets of legs. Though the gods hated these beings, they knew they could not kill them, as forfeiting humans as sacrifices. So, in replace Zeus decided to cut the humans into two, but keeping them whole on either side, including their genitals. Because the humans, now half, had been whole for so long, they constantly had urges to find their other half to make them whole again, which begins Aristophanes theory of longing for one another. Negative Effects Of The Circus reactions to stimulus dictated outside of an animal s conscious control, and the lack of ability to behave on instinct; as suggested later by Niedrich as being unnatural, then could indicate instead that activists are making the claim that free will is unnatural. Viewed from this angle activist maybe implying that free will and behavior outside of instinct is unnatural and morally wrong. This is clearly represented in this novel since by the end, as the author concluded that there was more to man than enlightenment and reasoning. The underground man is an educated, literate, forty year old financially stable man, who, lives in a modern society. As the novel progresses, the underground man remembers the days he used to work without any affection. The man lives now alone in a place described as unattractive where he is completely cut off from friends and family (Fanger 5). This situation provides an indication of the troubles underground man is going through for they do not arise from work, money problems or the lack of social interaction opportunities. This man has money, is educated and has plenty of social interaction opportunities but he d rather remain in his solitude, Dostoevsky shows that in all respect the man has reached enlightenment (Frank 36). The problems of underground man are all concerned with what is happening to him from the inside. This man is suffering from a disease that arises from his lack of feeling completely healthy. • 35. Youth Apathy And Apathy A common sentiment among the older generations is that the youth of today have stopped caring. The youth of today are almost always disengaged with politics and world issues (K.), and it seems that apathy has taken hold of the new generation. However, youth apathy should not be blamed on the youth themselves, as this apathy comes from a culmination of pressures and circumstances beyond their control. This is due to popular shows promoting the message of apathy, the biology of young adults and teenagers, and the oversaturation of world issues in the media. Instead of pushing blame on youth for their apathetic leanings, it is time to examine the core of why youth begin to feel this way. The average youth spends 9 hours per day consuming... A study by Oxford University found that [it may be] more of an effort for apathetic people to turn decisions into actions ( Brain ). As such, some adolescents may be biologically predisposed to apathy, as it takes them more time to make decisions than their more engaged counterparts. To summarise, the problem of apathy among youth comes from the youth s biology. The prevalence of negative news within the media has also become detrimental to the engagement of youth. The exposure to negative media within the news can cause teenagers to experience a large amount of emotional distress, sometimes leading to the development of post traumatic stress disorder (Pollard). As such, adolescents bombarded by negative news may become too overwhelmed by the news that they view, thus causing them to prefer escapism to activism. A survey from Times Mirror shows that while more people think the news is too full of violence, fewer people today than in the 1980 s believe that the news exaggerates the amount of violence in America (Clark). The duo summarize their own perspective on the conundrum known as Bartleby, and analyze a couple of other point of views. One of the perspectives they analyze is Bartleby as a political figure. Their view agrees with what Heneghan has presented in her argument stating Bartleby to be perceived as the disappearing working class: authors have approached Bartleby as a political representative, a representative of the working classes, of organization man (Beverungen and Dunne). The pair go on to state that Bartleby was meant to embody the idea of the alienated worker as a politicized Bartleby. In this aspect of their critique, one can agree with Beverungen and Dunne. The duo also analyze Bartleby as an originary character. As an originary character, Bartleby is confined to be a character who is an outcast from the working society: Bartleby seeks to be outside or beyond the social, to escape his entrapment inside the social to exceed the social (Beverungen and Dunne). This perspective also supports the proposition that Melville alienates his characters from each other. The final perspective that the partners acknowledge is Bartleby as a carefree character. This perspective shows Bartleby as an individual whom has no care for any authority. This is disagreeable to the view on alienation because he is not a carefree and lazy individual to begin with. The Great Reform Act 1832 The main issue is one that affected most of Society in the early 20th century. The main issue stemmed from outcry at The Great Reform Act 1832 which was introduced to amend the representation of the people in England and Wales. Before the 1832 Reform Act most men and all women did not have the vote. This act created a wider franchise but used the term male person , specifically excluding women. Alternative acts helped to enfranchise new sections of society and gave most men the vote, leaving sex the principal ground for disqualification. As a result, debates about fitness for citizenship and the vote, which had previously centred around wealth, property ownership and education, now revolved around questions of gender. It was that women, did not have the right to vote for the men that were in power creating laws and such which they had to follow. The laws and aspects of society which they were made to follow without any say in the creation of them were things such as taxes. Women were denied the vote for many reasons, most being justified by men. Most men and some women at the time, against women gaining the vote believed in Conservatism, they thought that the way the laws were, had been the same for many years, and they saw no need to change something that worked for the benefit of all those in society at the time. it was also a widespread belief that women should remain in the home and take care of their natural duties , such as cleaning, cooking, etc. Women at ... This essay shall James Thomson and Thomas Gray in their construction of the role of the poet. Thomson s Spring conveys the role of the poet as being multifaceted. Contrary to this, Gray establishes the role of the poet as one of isolation and being an outsider whilst expressing anxiety over the declining role of the poet, as seen in The Bard . To begin, this essay shall examine the forms used by the poets. Thomson makes of the Miltonic blank verse. By doing this, the role of the poet is conveyed as multifaceted as a range of subjects are discussed. Gray uses the form of the Pindaric ode in order to establish the idea of the poet being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ode was considered to create distance between the poet and the audience (Zionkowski, pg334). This is conveyed through the emotional complexity of the ode. The ode works in the genre of both eulogy, as the bard is in mourning, and exulting through the victory of the bard in the end. However, the reader is unable to sympathise with the bard figure which creates a distance between both reader and poet. The emotion is more than mourning. The poet is mourning over the loss of his own community, the Welsh bards, and is the last of his kind. The reader is unable to connect emotionally with the bard as the reader has not experienced this type of loss. Thus distance is created, leading to the poet being isolated. This then aids in turning the audience into a passive object much like Edward and his army is passive in the bard s prophecy (Zionkowski, pg345). Thus, the role of the poet becomes one of distance from the readership, placing the audience as being passive. Thus through the form, the role of the poet is constructed. By placing themselves in a literary tradition, Thomson and Gray highlight a deep lineage the poet has. The role of the poet, therefore, is part of a larger history and tradition. Furthermore, Thomson is able to construct the role of the poet as being multifaceted as the freedom of the Miltonic blank verse allows him to cover various subjects. The use of Pindaric ode creates distance between the poet and reader. This is due to the deep emotional complexity of the subject matter which the reader cannot sympathise with. Thus, the audience is kept at a distance, unable to interact with the text. The poem is then only author centered (Zionkowski, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The only thing that would be natural would be nature. In nature there are some species that do engage in homosexual activity. So by this natural standard it could not be used to reject Tommy and Jim. Another argument against homosexuals is that it is harmful to society through the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), by denying population growth and how it harms our youth. The first issue is addressed by simple process of elimination if homosexual males are at the highest risk of getting an STD and lesbian women at the lowest risk. Than Corvino is able to challenge the argument by concluding that if you are only choosing a partner based on risk of disease than women should only be with other women as the risk is the lowest. However most people do not chose a partner based on these principles. As for the issue of not having sex for only procreation purposes is absurd. Even the Catholic church prohibits sex during pregnancy and for pleasure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. How the Deaf Communicate in a Hearing World Essay Imagine what life would be like with the inability to hear. Try to envision watching television without sound or watching an inaudible movie. There is a silence that has way of making the busiest scenes seem still. Now try to imagine a lively area filled with lots of laughter, roaring music, and a handful of birds chirping away. That imagery paints a scene of the plain difference between a hearing world and a deaf one. One world is capable of hearing and the other involves no incoming source of sound whatsoever. Understanding how deaf cultureand how the hard of hearing work and live is important in order to comprehend the reasons behind why they do the certain things they do such as stare at others for a long period of time or the reason... They did not know how to react to the deaf that is until Plato, a Greek philosopher, wrote on the account of sign language in Ancient Greece which then resulted in a spark in the interests of other philosophers, writers, and artists (Mirzoeff). On the other hand, Aristotle, another Greek philosopher, who has been known as one who first recorded a claim about the deaf, theorized that people were only able to learn languages if the spoken language was heard implying that deaf people were unable to learn effectively or at all and may as well be uneducated (Jay). It is important to know and realize that the cause of deafness was not just because of genetics, but because of diseases which then resulted in the side effect of hearing loss (Mirzoeff). Meningitis, measles, or mumps were common diseases that would cause the loss of hearing back in the early modern period (Mirzoeff). In past times, an issue that occurred most often was how to respond to the deaf in terms of education. They most certainly were not able to hear which meant that they also would not be able to speak clearly or at all; many questioned how they would be able to comprehend others or communicate with them in that kind of setting. There were little to no schools that educated deaf children until Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, a man with great intellect, decided that what he wanted do in life was to contribute to the deaf world ( Thomas H. Gallaudet ). Gallaudet, founder of Gallaudet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two directions at once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to impress us with Ignatius. He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every sense of his character is an attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and disgusting yet he judges other people, Ignatius s appearance is a symbol for what lies beneath, his taste in clothing hints at his care for his own comfort which he seems to care about more than anything else except for his ego.
