It was a cloudy fall day. I was outside my house playing kickball. I loved playing kick
ball, it was my favorite game to play outside. I was at first base when my neighbor,
Jessie Walkovich, walked up from the cul de sac to home plate ready to kick. I
watched as my other neighbor, Jeffrey, pulled his arm back and let go of the ball. I
could see it rolling towards Jessie. When she kicked the ball, it came rolling right to
me. Quickly I got set and the ball rolled right into my hand, but it squashed my pinky
finger. I got Jessie out and threw the ball back to Jeffrey. My finger started to hurt,
it was like a heart pounding in my finger. I looked down and my pinky and it did

Jessie. I don t know I looked down and... I started to panic. I ran over to my mom...
I also had trouble getting on my pajama top and pajama bottoms. When I finally
finished everything it was almost 9:00 pm and I had school the next day. I couldn t
wait to tell everyone what happened and how it happened. I was excited for
everyone to sign my cast. So I went to get in bed. I had to find a position that was
still comfortable, but not lying on my arm. I remember thinking,
If I broke my pinky why is there a cast up to my elbow? I started getting frustrated
because I had to get used to sleeping with a big rock stuck to my lower left arm.
Having a broken pinky was hard to adapt to. I couldn t do as many things as usual.
I ended up having to get surgery after the 12 weeks and then it was pretty much back
to normal a week later. The only thing is that I have a bump on my finger from the

European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through

The Dominican Republic is a democratic state that is governed by a representative
democracy. The democratic system is made up of three branches of government in
the executive, judiciary, and the legislature. The president (Bencosme Norton,
2005) represents the head of state. The president is the head of the executive
branch. This branch is assigned the duties of making and executing the laws of the
country. The laws are passed by the congress and then executed by the executive
through the leadership of the president. The president is concerned with the roles
of appointing the cabinet, and being the commander of the country s army. The
president and his vice work in accordance to the terms of the executive, and they
are elected into office for a period of four years. The president does other roles like
the appointment of the governors of the various governments (Bencosme Norton,
2005). These governors are 31 in number. This country is a multi party state where
elections are held after two years. There are other humanitarian groups like civil
organizations, advocacy groups, and many other political parties. Some of the major
parties are the Social Christian Reformist Party and the Dominican Liberation Party.

A significant piece of several psychological theories in the late nineteenth century was
introspection, which is the examination or observation of one s own mental and
emotional processes (Press, 2013). In retort to this theory behaviorism came about.
Behaviorism is predominantly concerned with observable and measurable aspects of
human behavior. In other words behaviorismdoes not look at the biological aspects but
it suggests that all behaviors are learned habits and changes in response to the
environment. It endeavors to explain how these particular habits are formed.
Behaviorism claimed that the causes of behavior was not necessarily found in the
complexities of the mind but could be observed in one s immediate environment,
from stimuli that produced, reinforced, and punished certain responses also known
later on as conditioning. It wasn t until the twentieth century that the scientist began
to discover the actual systems to learning, thereby laying a foundation for
behaviorism. A theorist by the name of Ivan Pavlovwas a major contribution to the
discovering of significant behavioral theories.
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was born on September 14, 1849 in the small village of
Ryazan, Russia. He was the son of Peter Dmitrievich Pavlov, who was the village s
