Market Value Added Analysis
Market Value Added and Economic Value Added
Salahuddin K. Shameem
Market Value Added (MVA) is the difference between the current market value of a company and the
original amount of capital contributed by investors.
MVA = market value of stock shareholder supplied equity = (shares outstanding)(stock P) Total
common equity
Economic Value Added (EVA) measures managerial effectiveness (economic profit).
EVA = NOPAT after tax dollar cost of K for operations = EBIT(1 T) amount of operating K * WACC
where T = corporate tax rate
WACC = weighted average cost of capital
K = capital or EVA = operating K (ROIC WACC) where ROIC = return on invested capital if ROIC

Like an ordinary stock trade, two parties will work through their respective brokers, to transact a
futures trade. An investor can only trade in the futures contracts that are supported by each exchange.
In contrast, forwards are entirely customized and all the terms of the contract are privately negotiated
between parties. They can be keyed to almost any conceivable underlying asset or measure. The
settlement date, notional amount of the contract and settlement form (cash or physical) are entirely up
to the parties to the contract. * Forwards entail both market risk and credit risk. Those who engage in
futures transactions assume exposure to default by the exchange s clearing house. For OTC
derivatives, the exposure is to default by the counterparty who may fail to perform on a forward. The
profit or loss on a forward contract is only realized at the time of settlement, so the credit exposure can
keep increasing. * With futures, credit risk mitigation measures, such as regular mark to market and
margining, are automatically required. The exchanges employ a system whereby counterparties
exchange daily payments of profits or losses on the days they occur. Through these margin payments,
a futures contract s market value is effectively reset to zero at the end of each trading day. This all but
eliminates credit risk. * The daily cash flows associated with margining can skew futures prices,
causing them to diverge from

Rockefeller and Carnegie
Rockefeller and Carnegie In the nineteenth century two of the greatest entrepreneurs were born. These
two men, Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller epitomized the word monopoly, by becoming the
biggest industry giants of their time. Carnegie was the leader of the steel industry, while Rockefeller
controlled oil. Both of these men were similar; they came from humble beginnings and showed
interest in their careers at a young age. On November 25, 1835 William Carnegie had his first child
named Andrew in Dunfermline, Scotland. Andrew Carnegie faced poverty most of his young life; this
was because of the era called industrialization, which replaced the once successful hand weaver,
William Carnegie with a steamed powered loom in 1847. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Watergate Scandal Summary
Known as possibly the most notorious scandal to shock the political world, the Watergate Scandal is
quite possibly the most well known and famous of all political debaucheries. Richard Nixon, who was
running for his possible second term, bribed thieves who were, caught breaking and entering at the
DNC headquarters on June 17, 1972 (Staff). The FBI, who apprehended the thieves, connected money
found on the burglars to a fund that was supported by Committee for the Re Election of the President,
which was the official corporation of Nixon campaign at the time. Nixon was eventually found guilty
from evidence charged against him and testimonies given by his previous staff workers (Staff). After
many heated court battles, the court unanimously forced Nixon to turn in what tapes he had contracted
during the scandal (Scandal). The tapes proved Nixon was trying to get an upper hand on his
competitor and proved he was trying to hide wrong doings that had taken place prior to the break in.

has previously worked alongside Hunt in the CIA, at the time he was a real estate agent. Next was
Frank Sturgis who also had previous affiliations with the CIA. Sturgis worked as one of Barkers
associates while working with the CIA (Watergate). Also a part of the break in were Virgilio Gonzalez,
who was a lock smith, and James W. McCord Jr, who had also worked with the CIA and also the FBI

Millard Fuller Research Paper
One thing that people can say is that everyone desires to have a place to sleep, eat and live. Many
people like the idea of having a place they can call home. One organization, Habitat for Humanities,
has made ownership a possibility for anyone who desires to have it. For years people have been
searching for a less expensive way to begin their journey out of their predicament of not having their
own place to lay their head. Nothing can ever come without hard work though; to become a candidate
for owning a home, people have to go through numerous classes and engage sweat equity . This
organization has changed the lives of over a million families in over 1,400 bases internationally.
Where this great organization came from is the real question. The answer, an idea; before the idea
came a feeling or motion that one person felt they should act on. Millard Fuller, the man who felt there
were too many homeless people in the world and decided to do something about it. Millard Fuller was

Linda and Millard Fuller, 2009). Millard Fuller was accused of inappropriate behavior directed
towards a female employee in the late 1990 s. Causatively, Fuller was forced to step down from
leadership in 2005 even though there was an insufficient amount of evidence. Instantly after leaving
Habitat for Humanity Fuller and his wife founded a new organization by the name of Fuller Center for
Housing. They built on top of the partnerships they had already created ( Linda and Millard Fuller,

raccoon report Essay
Raccoon Report
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Raccoons (Procyon lotor) belong to the Procyonidae (those who came before the dogs family). This
highly intelligent mammal has a rounded head with a short nose, small ears, and a sturdy body with
minimum length, thick, grayish brown fur. Raccoons are easily identified by a distinctive pattern of
alternating black and yellowish white rings around a large bushy tail. They are also identified by a
unique narrow black face mask with two white patches above the eyes. The average length is 2 to 3
feet long (including the tail) and 12 inches high, weigh 8 to 22 pounds (heaviest in autumn), and live
for 10 to 13 years. Females produce one litter per year, numbering from one to ... Show more content

Although this statement is generally true, raccoons do have definite preferences. Generally speaking,
when fed by humans, they like peanuts, sweets, fruits, bread, peanut butter, and especially cat and dog
food. Like feeding humans, though, don t overload them with treats make those for special occasions,
and leave the healthier stuff for most of the time. In the wild the raccoon prefers: birds, rodents,
crayfish, small reptiles, mollusks, bird eggs, grains, and small grass shoots. Raccoons have a wide
variety in diet and are able to change it when necessary.
MOVEMENT AND MIGRATION
Raccoons do not migrate but they do move within a home range. They will not spend any more time
on one portion of the home range than any other portion.
TERRITORIES AND DEFENSE
Raccoons exhibit solitary social spacing with each adult raccoon remaining in its home range. They
have home ranges rather than territories because with a very diverse diet the resources are not very
defensible, and the home range that males require for mating purposes is too large to defend. Home
range size of the raccoon is largely dependent on resource availability. Smaller home ranges are
associated with more resource availability and larger home ranges with less resource availability.
(Prange, 2004) Home ranges for adult males are usually about 4,800 acres, but again this can vary
with resource distribution as

Bipolar Disorder And Manic Depression
Bipolar Disorder, formally known as Manic Depression, is a mental disorder where an individual
suffers from abnormal mood swings, experiencing both highs and lows (Hockenbury others, 2015, pg.
585). Severe depression with bouts of irrational happiness, and ecstasy are all symptoms an individual
with bipolar disorder may experience (Hockenbury others, 2015, pg 585). DSM 5, 2013 states, a small
percentage of Bipolar disorder experience only manic episodes . When someone is in mania they feel
like they are on top of the world, they are extremely happy and sure of themselves but often are
making irrational decisions. This mood can last for long periods of time, during this time they will not
sleep much and yet still be able to function. Although these individuals to think they are happy during
their manic states they are not, these manic episodes are extreme and can be debilitating to not only
the individual but their family as well. Post mania state, these individuals will then fall into a severely
depressive state where they have long periods of feeling hopeless and feeling worthless. Sometimes a
person with bipolar disorder can have some speech difficulties where they slur or speak too fast,
Hockenbury others, 2015 state it s the person trying to keep up with the racing thoughts in their heads.
These thoughts are often categorized as a flight of ideas, where the person jumps from topic to topic.

Similarities Between Bluestar And Luminol
Bluestar and luminol are two different reagents that exhibit similar characteristics. The similarities in
these reagents make them appear alike and show a common real life application. Therefore, my
research paper will offer a comprehensive discussion of the similarities and the differences that exist
in these reagents. Their mode of operation will provide a critical part of this paper. Bluestar is an
example of a reagent that plays the role of revealing blood washed out or cleaned out from a
substance. Most of these stains are invisible using naked eyes. In most case, the chemical is applicable
in crime investigations. This product contains a unique chemical formula that makes it suitable, and
the most effective blood revealed that individuals can find in the marketplaces (Maloney, 2014, pp

Another unique characteristic of this reagent is that Bluestar does not affect the DNA of the revealed
blood. It gives a chance for its subsequent DNA typing. On the other hand, Luminol is a chemical
substance that turns blue or green after mixing with blood, metals or any other material that contains
oxidizing characteristics. One can prepare luminol using hydrazine and hydrogen peroxide. Ability to
change color makes this chemical applicable in the crime scene investigations. Luminol is also
relevant in forensic science because the iron particles available in the hemoglobin of the human blood
activate its working process. Hemoglobin is the medium for oxygen transport in the human blood
(James, 2005, pp 206). Therefore, the use of luminol enables an investigator to identify variations in

Descriptive Art Of Art
A wave of nostalgia washed over me when I opened the door to the Durbin Gallery. Waxy, bright,
colorful, and detailed pieces ornamented the white walled room. I smelt the same smell I did when I
was a student digging through my pencil box or when I was creating a colorful masterpiece during my
free time as a child. As I walked around the gallery and saw the pieces that the artist, Herb Williams,
created and displayed in his exhibit, Master Heist. I saw a can of Campbell s Chicken Noodle Soup, a
recreation of Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night, word bubbles with text, and many more. Williams
brought me back to my childhood and amazed me within a matter of seconds of entering the exhibit
by using familiar objects to make familiar works of art. A thought I continuously had while walking
around the exhibit was of how cool it was to see how one individual used crayons, something I ve
always correlated as a tool used to make art, to create art. The individual pieces when observed from a
distance looked to me to be a vibrant printed picture. However, at a closer glance, it was easy to tell
that it was not printed, and that it was composed of an object that most all viewers can relate to in
some way. The artist took crayons in their most simplistic form, cylinders of wax, to a new level. The
thousands of crayons were arranged by color and placed specifically with either the point or flat ends
facing outwardly to create depth and movement in the pieces. This further pushed my

Analysis Of Human Action And Interaction In The Knife Thrower
Human action and reaction are heavily based on what we experience and how we interoperate those
experiences. The Knife Thrower is a short story written by Steven Millhauser that focuses on three
major concepts of human action and reaction. The story follows an audience of people as they watch
an anticipating show of a knife thrower and his dangerous tricks. In the story, The Knife Thrower,
Millhauser focuses on three major concepts of human action; how humans act amongst a group of
people, how humans act when trust is built between two individuals, and how humans act when they
witness pain and death in regards to the human body. The first concept that is focused on within this
short story is the way humans act when they are amongst a group of people. When amongst a group of
people, Millhauser s work shows that humans are quick to follow each other and they create a herd
mentality. An important literary concept Millhauser uses to his advantage to express this is the use of
first person narration. Millhauser uses words such as we and us to group together not only the
audience s feelings and thoughts but also the readers. This is done so strategically to present this first
concept of how people herd together in groups during times of hesitation. The first way this is shown
is when the audience has the opportunity to volunteer to receive the mark from the master (6).
Everyone is extremely hesitant and looking at each other for some sort of direction on how to react. A

Impact Of The Subprime Crisis On The Economy
According to the Body of Literature, we can find several elements and factor that could be precisely
analyzed in order to accurately assess the role of the FED in managing the policies enacted to limit
and control the evolution of the subprime crisis.
The subprime crisis took place within the US, with a contagious effect that made it spread from certain
financial institutions to several different ones across different fields of interest and in major countries,
as many banking players and funds registered liquidity problems as a consequence of a primary
market credit crunch.
The figure of Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the FED from 2006 to 2014, played a key role in
determining the success and the accuracy of FED s policies during this financial crisis and during its
recovery. Aim of this work will be not only to delineate and analyze what are the major actions
undertaken by the FED during this financial crisis, but also to investigate their effects, and the
consensus on their positive effects for the recovery of the US economy.
Most importantly, as repeatedly reported by major experts in this field, its belief that the FED should
clearly target stable inflation as primary objective (paralleling to the commitment of the ECB), was
then diminished as the financial crisis hit hard the US economy. He then understood the necessity to
stimulate directly the economy through the available monetary tools, although some author criticizes
the fact that he was not able to predict the

Technology Is Ruining Humanity In The Pedestrian
Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons (R. Buckminster Fuller). Most
high school students would agree about technology ruining humanity. Humanity is the way we
socialize, the way we act, and the way we communicate. Technology will cause humans to stop
interacting with each other face to face in person and instead we will be interacting through the
internet. When every single human in society has some type of technology, interacting will be
different. Humans will stop going outside to interact with others and will interact by phone or
technical device. Humans will wake up and spend the whole day inside interacting with others through
their electronic devices. When there is no actual normal human interaction we will look like dead

humanity. Technology will become a daily thing in our lives. Machines will start to take over everyone

The World Of The European Union
Ava Dodge
Germany
Germany, now one of the most powerful states in the European Union, is most broadly defined as a
representative democracy. Citizens vote on the upper legislature, lower legislature, and state
representatives, known as the Bundestag, Bundesrat, and Länder respectively. The Bundestag goes on
to elect a leader or chancellor. This leader has less independent authority than the president of the
United States or the British Prime Minister, and is very dependent on parliamentary agreement to pass
laws. Thus, the German government would more specifically be labeled a parliamentary republic. A
parliamentary republic is a form of government in which the parliamentary legislature (elected by the
people) has more power than the head of state. Germany also has a federal style government,
consisting of the central government and sixteen separate states that share sovereignty of the region.
However, aside from the categories of education, internal policing, and local government, the federal
government carries a vast majority of the power. The individual states are represented at the national
level through the Bundesrat. The other legislative body, the Bundestag, is decided by a vote that
includes both district and party representatives. This is a combination of closed list proportional
representation and district representation. More specifically, each district gets a seat, and any
discrepancy in the percentage of district seats a party receives and the percentage of

Self Reflection On Teaching And Learning
I believe a successful learning experience is engaging and valued by the students. I believe students
will value what they are learning if they believe what they re learning is relevant. Relevance is
important to teaching and learning because it is directly related to student engagement and motivation
(Frymier Schulman, 1995; Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008), states a positive classroom
environment provides a sense of security, community, belonging and identity (Marsh, 2008). Based on
my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing clear expectations within the
classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to create a safe learning environment (Fatt Hee,
1996). I believe within all classrooms, students diversity should be valued. This creates a
discrimination free environment and ensures students feel safe and included (Philips, 2010).
According to Stanford Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in class when learning experiences
are satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits all teaching strategy for all students.
Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to cater for a variety of different learners
(Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly evaluate their practices and whether they are
meeting the learning needs of all students (Zeichner Liston, 1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers
to improve the educational experiences provided for students and assist in identifying the professional
education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well (Schwartz, n.d.). As a future teacher
developing learning programs, teaching, assessing, providing feedback on student learning and
reporting to parents/carers are skills I must be proficient in. Standard 3: Plan for and implement
effective teaching and learning On my most recent placement I taught a series of lessons (artefact) for
a year 8 Health and Physical Education class. I had full responsibility for planning and teaching the
lessons. I planned multidimensional lessons which enriched my pedagogical approach and students
learning outcomes. When teaching the lessons it was essential I implement strategies and practices

Cocaine And Its Effects On Society
Cocaine is one of the oldest, most powerful and most dangerous stimulants in the world. This
powerfully addictive drug effects over 35 million people In the United States. Cocaine addiction
prevents a person from being a productive member in our society. It also increases the cost for law
enforcement and treatment facilities. It rapidly decreases the workplace, increases the homeless rate
and needless deaths on a daily basis.
Over three thousand years before the Jesus Christ was born, ancient Incas in the Andes chewed coca
leaves to get their hearts going so it would speed up their breathing to counter the effects of living in
the mountains thin air. Cocaine was first taken out of coca leaves in 1859 by a German chemist known
as Albert Niemann. In the 1880s is when it started to be popular in the medical community. An
Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, promoted the drug as a tonic to cure depression and sexual
impotence, as he used himself. Freud prescribed to close friends and loved ones even though the drug
made one suffer over paranoid hallucinations and one even dying because of high of the dosage was
prescribed to him. As the following years approached cocaine became very popular in the film

21st Century America
Part 2 What kind of world do we want for the 21st century? In today s society, when people are asked
the question what are your hopes for the world , many automatically respond with achieving world
peace and this is a great dream, but it is just a dream, not reality. People have begun to fight for world
peace without thinking rationally about what it means because world wide conflict has become a very
substantial conflict in the world today. People around the world have recognized that raising conflicts
between nations of the world could ultimately lead to the end of civilization. Americans have
specifically taken interest in this issue because today the United States is one of the leading powers of
the world. If America does not take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If action is taken, with time a lasting peace can be obtained where the majority of the world is at
peace. Peace is not just Kumbaya, my lord... it is a sustainable peace in which the majority of people
can live in freedom from want and freedom from fear (Williams). Peace is a process that needs to take
place around the world. With action, peace can be achieved with time. There will still be conflict
around the world, but the major issues will eventually be resolved and the tension between conflicting
nations can also slowly decline. Peace is not a unrealistic concept, but world peace is. Citizens of the
world cannot end all conflict, but they can take action to eliminate the major issues of the world,
which will ease the tension and clashes between opposing

Robin Budowski
Current Situation: In 2016, Robin Budowski has almost acquired Château d Agel a previously
unprofitable wine property in the South West of France. However, his dream of owning and running a
vineyard does come with its own financial and operational risks. Robin may be the best candidate for
this acquisition opportunity, but to make it worthwhile in the next 5 to 7 year time horizon, he has to
decide which wine market he should focus his resources on, and how his wine can be effectively
distributed across France and exported to foreign developing markets.
The Wine Market: As of 2016, the global wine market shrunk by 7.6 percent, to generate $319,816
million while production volumes grew by 2.1 percent. (MarketLine, 2016). The reasons for ... Show

(See exhibit B). Craft beer, whiskey, and spirits are unfortunately stealing most customer segments,
and are experiencing strong growth. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016). All s not lost as millennials have shown
an increasing interest to taste various wine flavours from across the world. (The Fix, 2016). This gives
wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this younger market s
interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do. (The Fix, 2016).
Evidently, price does not yet have a strong influence on their wine selection. In support of this, a
survey conducted by Nielsen data indicated that 17 percent of this young demographic spends over
$20 per wine bottle in one month this percentage is larger than the boomers and generation Xers. (The
Fix, 2016). In addition, female drinkers are now responsible for 56 percent of the overall wine
consuming population due to their buying power. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016).
Moving on to global consumers, The CEO of Luxury Institute stated that, Consumers are purchasing
wine at higher volumes because they enjoy the restaurant and at home dining experiences that include
a great quality wine. (Luxury Daily, 2016). An implication of this quality preference is that restaurants
have seen a decrease in sales of wine priced at $8 a bottle or lower while higher priced wine is more
popular. (Cheers Online, 2016). Now, the average cost of wine in

Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
The elizabethan era was a pretty tough time to be alive, and so crime was rampant in the streets. But
no amount of crime was worth the large assortment or punishments that were lined up for the next
person who dared cross the line.
Punishment during the elizabethan era was some of the most brutal I have ever seen, and personally I
think it was almost unjustly so, but people back then thought quite the opposite, In fact, they thought it
was fun to watch. These punishments include, but are not limited to; the rack, the scavenger s
daughter, the collar, the iron maiden, branding irons, the wheel, thumbscrews, the gossip s bridle/the
brank, the drunkard s cloak, ducking stools, the pillory, and the stocks, as well as whipping, burning or
branding, pressing, boiling in hot water, oil, or lead, starvation in a public place, and finally cutting off
various parts of the anatomy. I would like to elaborate on (in my opinion) the worst and/or most brutal
ones.
Let s start with the worst. The wheel. It s exactly what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Iron Maiden was a big human shaped cabinet that was lined in spikes. People would be put into
this cabinet, and and the doors would be closed, causing the victim to be impaled from many different
angles and would eventually bleed out and die. The only reason this is not on the top of my list is
because it was never proven to be actually used or even to exist. Many believe it is actually a version
of another torture device called the drunkard s cloak that was lined with spikes, others believe that it
was made up by historians who wanted publicity at a museum they work for.
In conclusion, crime wasn t worth it. No matter how much you got out of a job or something, it was
not enough to compensate for the amount of pain you would be in if you were found out. This also
shows how hard life was back then, the sheer fact that they came up with these devices shows how
much they needed to solve the crime rate during that

Science is not only an important role in the human culture, but also (science) helps people in
multifarious ways in today s world. However, people said that science will hurt human, and they set a

In our real lives, the society usually improves through science. In the article Cars and Their Enemies
wrote by James Q. Wilson, he talks about how cars bring people conveniences and improve the
society. He also states that car makes people s lives freer and more pleasurable (Wilson ). As
everybody know, the United States is a country on wheels, especially in Southern California. Cars are
very important for a person who lives in the suburbs of Southern California, students need them to go
to school, ladies need it to go to the mall, and guys need it to go to gym. Otherwise, people will have
to limit the chooses of their house. Moreover, Wilson also mentions that people always love to choose
transportation based on individual instead of social preferences. In other words, cars provide
convenient living and option to people, and this is what science brings to people. We should support
and respect science instead of adopt a hostile attitude towards science because of what it did to

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as they
face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is given the
same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and hunger for power
lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a detrimental effect on
his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a range of effective film
techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to communicate the idea that
ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall. Throughout the film, Boyle
uses the varying stages of Salim s life through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This in itself begins to twist and corrupt Salim as he is trying to become powerful by acting
controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as they
consider him, controlling and greedy almost like he s Maman s pet . Boyle s use of these film
techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this hunger for
power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim, moulding Salim
into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s adolescents as his childish
naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is brought about by the denial of his
childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a lot due to the effects of the tough life
he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed to the back of his mind, but these forgotten
memories are constantly biting at the back of his thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and
his hunger for power. Salim is face to face with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a
dutch angle is used to show the confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not
seen each other for years and Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid
shot together. Salim is no longer looking up to Maman as he now

Write An Essay On The Boston Massacre
There was an incident on kings street caused by the British on March 5, 1770, also known as The
Boston massacre. It is said that the British army killed five male citizens and injured many others.
This began when a mob of people formed around a British sentry, who claimed to have been harassed.
When British solder got involved they immediately took his side and fired into the crowed without
any higher authority approval.
This all began when Britain approved levies on its American settlements to help pay the upholding of
their Northern territory. The people thought it was a defilement of their human rights. Loyalist leader,

Narrative Essay On Sooulsca Place
This weekend was one of the best weekends I ve had in College. This weekend I attended something
called SOULscape, a 2 day program about your life; purpose, vulnerability and gratitude. SOULscape
took place at Minnowbrook Conference Center, near Blue Mountain Lake.
I first heard about SOULscape through a friend of mine. She sent me a link to the application and it
seemed amazing, so I applied. A few days ago, I got an email saying that spots this year were full, but
I was placed on the alternate list. I wasn t sad or upset about it because I hadn t really given it much
thought. On Thursday, October 20th, I received an email saying that a few spots had opened up and if

A bowl of french onion soup and mashed potato really ticked the box for comfort food. After lunch,
we sat in a circle near the fire place at the main lounge and introduced ourselves to our fellow
soulscapers and also spoke about why we applied to SOULscape. It was really inspiring because
people really opened up about why they were there. I mean, it does take something to open up about
your personal life to a group of people you barely know. As people spoke about serious issues like self
harm, mental health and depression as reasons for themselves, I began questioning my reason for
being there. It made me come closer with reality. It made me realize that things like violence, abuse,
self harm that I read about are actually real issues that people struggle with. That moment I realized
that, that experience was going to be extremely enriching. I wasn t afraid to open up about why I was
there, I spoke about anxiety and how I sometimes struggled with anxiety. It wasn t awkward or
uncomfortable to open up to a group of strangers, especially in that environment. I honestly felt as if
people could understand me and they could empathize and relate with

The Constitution Is Revered For Both Its Age And Its Brevity
The U.S Constitution is revered for both its age and its brevity. The Constitution is a short and concise
document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of principles
for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are unclear in
many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitution due to the reason that it is difficult to
figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution. According to the
Constitution, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide if a law passed by Congress is
Constitutional. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme Court to interpret
the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the twenty first century.
The vagueness of constitution, while enabling the country to progress, has also been the source of
conflict among the individuals in government office. In terms of the Supreme Court, there is a
fundamental philosophical debate on how the vagueness of the constitution should be interpreted.
Both sides adhere strictly to the written words of the Constitution there is no debate about that. But
much of the constitutional rhetoric is open for interpretation, creating two schools of thought. The first
thought, originalism argues that the Supreme Court should interpret the constitution solely to reflect
the original views of the framers. Not only should the exact text be considered, but

Mini Task # 3. For This Mini Task, I Chose To Work On A
Mini Task # 3 For this Mini Task, I chose to work on a review of the book Hunger of Memory: The
Education of Richard Rodriguez by Richard Rodriguez. It was very appealing to me do this review
this book. When I open the dedication, I feel a lot of emotions, Rodriguez says: She tells people, her

In the Rodriguez family, Spanish was respected and appreciated while the kids were little. The
children grew up using that language in this private sphere making the distinction of what they heard
outside their home. English was the language reserved for the outsiders, the public language. The
language their parents failed in producing, making Rodriguez developing shameful feelings to their
parents slow English acquisition. By being so open with the reader, Rodriguez presents the discussion
about what means for a child being immerse in two languages and two cultures. Brice Heath (1983)
refers to the ability of the speakers to shift not just language, but also their roles as ways to protect
themselves from the outsiders expectations. Children are very sensible in this matter. Rodriguez grew
up in two languages and adapting himself to two cultures. However, schooling was critical in shaping
and maintaining the family language. Rodriguez attended a Catholic school, where almost all his
classmates were white from the upper middle class, rich people. His relationships with people from a
different background, and more importantly from the privileged middle class white society, put him in
another perspective. Progressively, English was replacing Spanish as the private language at home.
For the Rodriguez family, it was a way to gain acceptance by their white neighbors, and praise the
importance of good education for their

mississippi burning trial Essay
The Mississippi Burning Trial was not for the cold blooded murders of three young civil rights
workers, but rather for the violation of their civil rights. The federal government wanted to break
Mississippi s white supremacy stronghold on the South. The Mississippi Burning Trial proved to be
the opportunity to do so. The three branches of the federal government and their various departments
were actively involved in bringing about this civil rights trial in Mississippi and these activities and
personal views are well documented in court records, department records, and the press.

Violence was their preferred method of dealing with enemies.
The number of violent attacks on black citizens as well as outsiders fills volumes of record books.
Michael Schwerner joined forces with SNCC along with his chief aid, James Chaney, a black
Mississippi native. They both had hopes that the federal government would be pushed by their
numbers to increase FBI and federal protection for the students. The third man on their team was
Andrew Goodman. He was a reasonably wealthy, white, 20 year old from Manhattan. Idealistic and
eager to work, Andrew had no clue that his first day in Mississippi would also be his last. On the night
of June 21st in Neshoba County the three young men disappeared after being stopped on a bogus
traffic violation. After discovering their burned out car on the second day of the search, most everyone
knew the three had been murdered. The press followed the search and brought the case to the nation s
attention. Many bodies of murdered civil rights workers and black citizens were recovered from the
backwaters and swamps as federal agents and Navy seamen scoured Neshoba County. The killers in
Neshoba County had made a very grave mistake. They hadn t just murdered three local colored boys
this time. The parents of Schwerner and Goodman had money; they had ties. So much so, that they

An investor can only trade in the futures contracts that are supported by each exchange. In contrast, forwards are entirely customized and all the terms of the contract are privately negotiated between parties. They can be keyed to almost any conceivable underlying asset or measure. The settlement date, notional amount of the contract and settlement form (cash or physical) are entirely up to the parties to the contract. * Forwards entail both market risk and credit risk. Those who engage in futures transactions assume exposure to default by the exchange s clearing house. For OTC derivatives, the exposure is to default by the counterparty who may fail to perform on a forward. The profit or loss on a forward contract is only realized at the time of settlement, so the credit exposure can keep increasing. * With futures, credit risk mitigation measures, such as regular mark to market and margining, are automatically required. The exchanges employ a system whereby counterparties exchange daily payments of profits or losses on the days they occur. Through these margin payments, a futures contract s market value is effectively reset to zero at the end of each trading day. This all but eliminates credit risk. * The daily cash flows associated with margining can skew futures prices, causing them to diverge from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rockefeller epitomized the word monopoly, by becoming the biggest industry giants of their time. Carnegie was the leader of the steel industry, while Rockefeller controlled oil. Both of these men were similar; they came from humble beginnings and showed interest in their careers at a young age. On November 25, 1835 William Carnegie had his first child named Andrew in Dunfermline, Scotland. Watergate Scandal Summary Known as possibly the most notorious scandal to shock the political world, the Watergate Scandal is quite possibly the most well known and famous of all political debaucheries. Richard Nixon, who was running for his possible second term, bribed thieves who were, caught breaking and entering at the DNC headquarters on June 17, 1972 (Staff). The FBI, who apprehended the thieves, connected money found on the burglars to a fund that was supported by Committee for the Re Election of the President, which was the official corporation of Nixon campaign at the time. Nixon was eventually found guilty from evidence charged against him and testimonies given by his previous staff workers (Staff). After many heated court battles, the court unanimously forced Nixon to turn in what tapes he had contracted during the scandal (Scandal). The tapes proved Nixon was trying to get an upper hand on his competitor and proved he was trying to hide wrong doings that had taken place prior to the break in. One organization, Habitat for Humanities, has made ownership a possibility for anyone who desires to have it. For years people have been searching for a less expensive way to begin their journey out of their predicament of not having their own place to lay their head. Nothing can ever come without hard work though; to become a candidate for owning a home, people have to go through numerous classes and engage sweat equity . This organization has changed the lives of over a million families in over 1,400 bases internationally. Where this great organization came from is the real question. • 6. raccoon report Essay Raccoon Report GENERAL OVERVIEW Raccoons (Procyon lotor) belong to the Procyonidae (those who came before the dogs family). This highly intelligent mammal has a rounded head with a short nose, small ears, and a sturdy body with minimum length, thick, grayish brown fur. Raccoons are easily identified by a distinctive pattern of alternating black and yellowish white rings around a large bushy tail. They are also identified by a unique narrow black face mask with two white patches above the eyes. The average length is 2 to 3 feet long (including the tail) and 12 inches high, weigh 8 to 22 pounds (heaviest in autumn), and live for 10 to 13 years. In the wild the raccoon prefers: birds, rodents, crayfish, small reptiles, mollusks, bird eggs, grains, and small grass shoots. Raccoons have a wide variety in diet and are able to change it when necessary. MOVEMENT AND MIGRATION Raccoons do not migrate but they do move within a home range. They will not spend any more time on one portion of the home range than any other portion. TERRITORIES AND DEFENSE Raccoons exhibit solitary social spacing with each adult raccoon remaining in its home range. They have home ranges rather than territories because with a very diverse diet the resources are not very defensible, and the home range that males require for mating purposes is too large to defend. Home range size of the raccoon is largely dependent on resource availability. Smaller home ranges are associated with more resource availability and larger home ranges with less resource availability. (Prange, 2004) Home ranges for adult males are usually about 4,800 acres, but again this can vary with resource distribution as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bipolar Disorder And Manic Depression Bipolar Disorder, formally known as Manic Depression, is a mental disorder where an individual suffers from abnormal mood swings, experiencing both highs and lows (Hockenbury others, 2015, pg. 585). The similarities in these reagents make them appear alike and show a common real life application. Therefore, my research paper will offer a comprehensive discussion of the similarities and the differences that exist in these reagents. Their mode of operation will provide a critical part of this paper. Bluestar is an example of a reagent that plays the role of revealing blood washed out or cleaned out from a substance. Most of these stains are invisible using naked eyes. In most case, the chemical is applicable in crime investigations. One can prepare luminol using hydrazine and hydrogen peroxide. Ability to change color makes this chemical applicable in the crime scene investigations. • 10. Descriptive Art Of Art A wave of nostalgia washed over me when I opened the door to the Durbin Gallery. Waxy, bright, colorful, and detailed pieces ornamented the white walled room. I smelt the same smell I did when I was a student digging through my pencil box or when I was creating a colorful masterpiece during my free time as a child. As I walked around the gallery and saw the pieces that the artist, Herb Williams, created and displayed in his exhibit, Master Heist. I saw a can of Campbell s Chicken Noodle Soup, a recreation of Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night, word bubbles with text, and many more. Williams brought me back to my childhood and amazed me within a matter of seconds of entering the exhibit by using familiar objects to make familiar works of art. A thought I continuously had while walking around the exhibit was of how cool it was to see how one individual used crayons, something I ve always correlated as a tool used to make art, to create art. The individual pieces when observed from a distance looked to me to be a vibrant printed picture. However, at a closer glance, it was easy to tell that it was not printed, and that it was composed of an object that most all viewers can relate to in some way. The artist took crayons in their most simplistic form, cylinders of wax, to a new level. The thousands of crayons were arranged by color and placed specifically with either the point or flat ends facing outwardly to create depth and movement in the pieces. This further pushed my ... • 13. Analysis Of Human Action And Interaction In The Knife Thrower Human action and reaction are heavily based on what we experience and how we interoperate those experiences. The Knife Thrower is a short story written by Steven Millhauser that focuses on three major concepts of human action and reaction. The story follows an audience of people as they watch an anticipating show of a knife thrower and his dangerous tricks. In the story, The Knife Thrower, Millhauser focuses on three major concepts of human action; how humans act amongst a group of people, how humans act when trust is built between two individuals, and how humans act when they witness pain and death in regards to the human body. The first concept that is focused on within this short story is the way humans act when they are amongst a group of people. When amongst a group of people, Millhauser s work shows that humans are quick to follow each other and they create a herd mentality. An important literary concept Millhauser uses to his advantage to express this is the use of first person narration. Millhauser uses words such as we and us to group together not only the audience s feelings and thoughts but also the readers. This is done so strategically to present this first concept of how people herd together in groups during times of hesitation. The first way this is shown is when the audience has the opportunity to volunteer to receive the mark from the master (6). Everyone is extremely hesitant and looking at each other for some sort of direction on how to react. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Impact Of The Subprime Crisis On The Economy According to the Body of Literature, we can find several elements and factor that could be precisely analyzed in order to accurately assess the role of the FED in managing the policies enacted to limit and control the evolution of the subprime crisis. The subprime crisis took place within the US, with a contagious effect that made it spread from certain financial institutions to several different ones across different fields of interest and in major countries, as many banking players and funds registered liquidity problems as a consequence of a primary market credit crunch. The figure of Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the FED from 2006 to 2014, played a key role in determining the success and the accuracy of FED s policies during this financial crisis and during its recovery. Aim of this work will be not only to delineate and analyze what are the major actions undertaken by the FED during this financial crisis, but also to investigate their effects, and the consensus on their positive effects for the recovery of the US economy. Most importantly, as repeatedly reported by major experts in this field, its belief that the FED should clearly target stable inflation as primary objective (paralleling to the commitment of the ECB), was then diminished as the financial crisis hit hard the US economy. He then understood the necessity to stimulate directly the economy through the available monetary tools, although some author criticizes the fact that he was not able to predict the ... • 17. The World Of The European Union Ava Dodge Germany Germany, now one of the most powerful states in the European Union, is most broadly defined as a representative democracy. Citizens vote on the upper legislature, lower legislature, and state representatives, known as the Bundestag, Bundesrat, and Länder respectively. The Bundestag goes on to elect a leader or chancellor. This leader has less independent authority than the president of the United States or the British Prime Minister, and is very dependent on parliamentary agreement to pass laws. Thus, the German government would more specifically be labeled a parliamentary republic. A parliamentary republic is a form of government in which the parliamentary legislature (elected by the people) has more power than the head of state. Germany also has a federal style government, consisting of the central government and sixteen separate states that share sovereignty of the region. However, aside from the categories of education, internal policing, and local government, the federal government carries a vast majority of the power. The individual states are represented at the national level through the Bundesrat. The other legislative body, the Bundestag, is decided by a vote that includes both district and party representatives. This is a combination of closed list proportional representation and district representation. More specifically, each district gets a seat, and any discrepancy in the percentage of district seats a party receives and the percentage of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Self Reflection On Teaching And Learning I believe a successful learning experience is engaging and valued by the students. I believe students will value what they are learning if they believe what they re learning is relevant. Relevance is important to teaching and learning because it is directly related to student engagement and motivation (Frymier Schulman, 1995; Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008), states a positive classroom environment provides a sense of security, community, belonging and identity (Marsh, 2008). Based on my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing clear expectations within the classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to create a safe learning environment (Fatt Hee, 1996). I believe within all classrooms, students diversity should be valued. This creates a discrimination free environment and ensures students feel safe and included (Philips, 2010). According to Stanford Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in class when learning experiences are satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits all teaching strategy for all students. Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to cater for a variety of different learners (Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly evaluate their practices and whether they are meeting the learning needs of all students (Zeichner Liston, 1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers to improve the educational experiences provided for students and assist in identifying the professional education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well (Schwartz, n.d.). As a future teacher developing learning programs, teaching, assessing, providing feedback on student learning and reporting to parents/carers are skills I must be proficient in. Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning On my most recent placement I taught a series of lessons (artefact) for a year 8 Health and Physical Education class. I had full responsibility for planning and teaching the lessons. I planned multidimensional lessons which enriched my pedagogical approach and students learning outcomes. However, his dream of owning and running a vineyard does come with its own financial and operational risks. Robin may be the best candidate for this acquisition opportunity, but to make it worthwhile in the next 5 to 7 year time horizon, he has to decide which wine market he should focus his resources on, and how his wine can be effectively distributed across France and exported to foreign developing markets. This gives wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this younger market s interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do. (The Fix, 2016). Evidently, price does not yet have a strong influence on their wine selection. In support of this, a survey conducted by Nielsen data indicated that 17 percent of this young demographic spends over $20 per wine bottle in one month this percentage is larger than the boomers and generation Xers. (The Fix, 2016). In addition, female drinkers are now responsible for 56 percent of the overall wine consuming population due to their buying power. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016). Moving on to global consumers, The CEO of Luxury Institute stated that, Consumers are purchasing wine at higher volumes because they enjoy the restaurant and at home dining experiences that include a great quality wine. • 22. Punishment During The Elizabethan Era The elizabethan era was a pretty tough time to be alive, and so crime was rampant in the streets. But no amount of crime was worth the large assortment or punishments that were lined up for the next person who dared cross the line. Punishment during the elizabethan era was some of the most brutal I have ever seen, and personally I think it was almost unjustly so, but people back then thought quite the opposite, In fact, they thought it was fun to watch. These punishments include, but are not limited to; the rack, the scavenger s daughter, the collar, the iron maiden, branding irons, the wheel, thumbscrews, the gossip s bridle/the brank, the drunkard s cloak, ducking stools, the pillory, and the stocks, as well as whipping, burning or branding, pressing, boiling in hot water, oil, or lead, starvation in a public place, and finally cutting off various parts of the anatomy. The only reason this is not on the top of my list is because it was never proven to be actually used or even to exist. Many believe it is actually a version of another torture device called the drunkard s cloak that was lined with spikes, others believe that it was made up by historians who wanted publicity at a museum they work for. In conclusion, crime wasn t worth it. No matter how much you got out of a job or something, it was not enough to compensate for the amount of pain you would be in if you were found out. • 29. The Constitution Is Revered For Both Its Age And Its Brevity The U.S Constitution is revered for both its age and its brevity. The Constitution is a short and concise document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of principles for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are unclear in many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitution due to the reason that it is difficult to figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution. According to the Constitution, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide if a law passed by Congress is Constitutional. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the twenty first century. The vagueness of constitution, while enabling the country to progress, has also been the source of conflict among the individuals in government office. In terms of the Supreme Court, there is a fundamental philosophical debate on how the vagueness of the constitution should be interpreted. Both sides adhere strictly to the written words of the Constitution there is no debate about that. But much of the constitutional rhetoric is open for interpretation, creating two schools of thought. The first thought, originalism argues that the Supreme Court should interpret the constitution solely to reflect the original views of the framers.
