Political Oligarchy
In a 2014 report titled Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average
Citizens, Martin Gilens and Benjamin Page wrote that their Multivariate analysis indicates that
economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent
impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass based interest groups have little
or no independent influence. As the report became increasingly popular, scholars, politicians and
others all created their own thoughts and opinions on the issues. Some going as far as to say that this
research showed that the United States has become an oligarchy.
This report and the response it has gained begs a few questions: first, what is an oligarchy ... Show

A common depiction of lobbying is that of an individual offering money, gifts, trips, or other goods on
return for a favorable action, such as a congressperson s vote on a particular bill. Though such
activities do take place, in modern times they have become the exception rather than the rule. The
activities of lobbyists today are strictly regulated by federal and state governments. Lobbyists gift

Harold Shipman Crimes
Introduction
Violent crimes are violations of criminal law that involve the intentional use of violence by one person
against another. the factors of violent crime. One will discuss the UK and the USA violent crimes and
point out which country has more or less violent crimes, with charts and statistics. Despite some
meaningful contributions to our understanding, the biological and psychological explanations neglect
the most prominent aspect of deviance; that is, like any other human activity, deviant behaviour is
inherently social in nature. For an individual to be deviant or delinquent, he or she must be involved
with other people. two categories of sociological theories of delinquency social strain and social

The Strain Theory is when society puts pressure on to another individual to commit a crime in order to
achieve their goals (Merton, 1957). Example; when young people feel pressure to own the latest

relieve the strain. Both theories explain crime from a social point of view (The Social Learning

Ufo Research Paper
An unidentified flying object, also known as a UFO, have been around since the early records of
history. UFOs are typically associated with extraterrestrial life or in some circumstances there has
been some conspiracy theories that they are government related. UFOs have been used and portrayed
heavily in Hollywood films throughout the decades and in the media. Technically a UFO could be
categorized as an unknown plane or helicopter but when instead UFOs are brought up people think of
a saucer like object shown in the picture. Since the birth of the UFO the media and Hollywood have in
a way blown the thoughts of UFOs out of proportion. The large majority of UFO sightings have been
made from citizens and they can be easily dismissed. Also, many UFO sighting cases go unseen due to
the government and how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case was different from others because in the past the claims that were made of UFO sightings or
landings came from uncredited people who were just civilians and had no credibility. These sightings
came from multiple people that hold a prestigious and well respected position. Reports were made
from on duty police officers that they spotted lights descending into the forests. Astronomers have said
that these lights were a piece of natural debris burning up as a fireball. The men on duty first thought
that it was a downed aircraft and naturally went out to go check on it and see what was happening. As
they entered the forest to investigate, they claimed to have seen a glowing object, metallic in
appearance with different colored lights. As the men went closer to check it out, the object started to
move through the trees, causing animals on nearby farms to panic and freak out. A couple hours later,
the local police were called out to the scene where the UFO was reported, the only lights that were
seen by them came from a local lighthouse a couple miles on the coast.

The Development Of The Fisheries And Tourism On The...
The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the Shoreline:
Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social and
environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central
contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history from
the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries,
canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the
social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and
ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the intersection
of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of intersectional
analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far between. I demonstrate
that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the Monterey more often, the
book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does acknowledge the
intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her book. The moment
where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey. Working class women
of color experienced a combination of racism and misogyny unique to their social position. A travel

Igbo Body
In Africa, body modification is a sign of prosperity, wealth, power, and is a method of showing a
person s life story. The art form has existed for centuries and holds massive amounts of cultural
significance for African tribes. The village of Umuofia in Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart is
no exception. The Igbo utilize tattooing as a manner of reflecting the character and life experiences of
a person in a form visible to the people around them. In the novel, Okonkwo was the epitome of
manliness because of his athletic prowess and his position of power within the clan, emphasized on
page 26 of Achebe s work, He was talking about Okonkwo, who had risen so suddenly from great
poverty and misfortune to be one of the lords of the clan . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Okonkwo, a leader of the village, left in exile after offending the earth goddess, shown on page 124 of
Achebe s novel, The only course open to Okonkwo was to flee from the clan. It was a crime against
the earth goddess to kill a clansman... . He was at risk of mortality, but hoped for steadfastness in his
decision and reconciliation with the gods. Consequently, combining the physical representations of the
demonstrated traits is what creates a tattoo revealing the Igbos attachment to customs. Additionally, a
tattoo also representing religion made with the symbols for guardianship, the presence of gods, and
trust is poignant when remembering the people of Mbanta s first reaction to European missionaries.
These men must be mad, they said to themselves. How else could they say that Ani and Amadiora
were harmless (Achebe 146)? Even in the face of change, the Igbo held on to their religion and kept
faith in their gods. Similarly, when the stories of Europeans were being passed from village to village,
relations with them were rare, wary and considered foolish, shown on page 140 of Things Fall Apart,
Never kill a man who says nothing. Those men of Abame were fools . Later however, Okonkwo
experienced jealousy of the complete control the Europeans had over his old village. A tattoo
combining jealousy, relations, and wariness accurately depicts the reaction of the Igbo to the

The Kings Way of Goverment
Feudalism was based on the exchange of land for military service. It had levels of status similar to
modern society. In the Middle Ages, the Feudal System was a very important system to kings in order
for them to control entire countries.
The Feudal System was a vital system to William I who could not control all the land he had.
According to Chris Trueman, William had defeated the English army lead by Harold Godwine but
before he could be called King of England he had to gain control of all of England. The English
thought of William as a foreigner who had forced his way into London. Since people didn t like him
he had to use force to maintain his control on England. It was extremely difficult for William to rule

These manors were isolated, with occasional visits from peddlers, pilgrims on their way to the
Crusades, or soldiers from other fiefdoms. Family life was governed by the place one held in society.
The nobles had the highest stats and possessed the most wealth and land. The clergy could be rich or
poor, depending on their title and how much influence they had over the people. The serfs had the
lowest stats and possessed the least amount of wealth and land (Characteristics).
Life in the Middle Ages was hard, especially for serfs, and few people could read or write. During the
years of the Roman Empire, the soldiers of the emperor protected the poor people. Then when the
empire fell, there were no laws protecting them, so they turned to the lords to keep the peace and to
act on their behalf. This willingness of the poor people to be ruled by the lords led to the beginning of
Feudalism. Some peasants, poor people, were free, but most became serfs, slaves, to the lord. Serfs
generally lived in communities that were ruled by the local nobles. They could not marry or even
leave the manor without the lord s permission. Serfs did all the work on the manor farm and all serfs
worked: men, women, and children. They worked in the fields, cared for animals, built and cared for
buildings, made clothing, and everything else that required manual labor. There were also servants
who worked in the manor doing the cooking, cleaning, laundering, and other household jobs. Serfs

The Effects Of Drone Use On National Parks
The Effects of Drone Use in National Parks
Drones have been a debatable topic since the 1930s. Some countries have banned them, some states
have banned them, and even the United States National Park Service has banned them. There has been
controversy for the last few years of this new rising robot on whether the U.S. National Park Service
should allow it or whether it should be illegal in our parks. They were invented during World War II to
help the military spy on enemies. Their technical term is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or RPA
(Remotely Piloted Aerial System). Drones have been used in situations where manned flight isn t an
option. These flying robots have come in many sizes, from miniature hand sized drones to large spy
planes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He agreed to a plea deal that would ban him from the park for one year as well as probation in
Germany. Meissner was charged with leaving property unattended, commercial filming without a
permit, and violating the ban on drones. He faced up to six months in jail and fines for each violation.
Most drone users in National Parks have good intentions, being in one of the most beautiful places in
the world, who wouldn t want to capture that from an artistic view? Teachers, artists, photographers,
filmmakers are the ones wanting to film these national parks from a different perspective. Showing the
beauty and teaching those who don t know enough about national parks are the key reasons of these
drones.
Teaching others about national parks through the internet is a great way for people to learn if they aren
t fortunate to be able to visit these parks in person. Philanthropists may see the beautiful footage a
drone can capture and want to donate to the park service. If the media brings awareness to national
parks it will draw in more visitors that can educate themselves on the beauty of true nature. Drones
can allow visitors a new perspective on some of the magnificence of national parks, for instance the

Eassy On Apartheid
The great Nelson Mandela once said When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he
has no choice but to become an outlaw. (Long Walk to Freedom, 1995) Apartheid means separation.
Apartheid destroy lives and apartheid separate blacks and coloured from the rest of the world. P.W.
Botha stated in the mid 1980 s Simple justice suggests that you must allow a black man with his
family to live a healthy, decent life and you must provide work, where possible, for him, and not allow
him to squat on your doorstep... and then, in the name of Christianity, say now that you ve done your
duty towards him? I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions
were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced
intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid
institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as
inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the
intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority.
Authorised by P.W. Botha, apartheid took control and manipulated the South African political system
in favour of the white minority, illustrating the 40 years of Apartheid where majority of the coloured
population had feared and suffered through the 148 harsh Apartheid policies and legislations. One of
those policies were

Max, from the movie Rushmore. For Max and Holden, they are two interesting thinkers and they
handle their situations in their own special ways with the help of nobody. Weather it s trying to get

Max will stop at nothing to please the woman he likes, Miss Cross. Max once tried to build an

mini fish bowl in her classroom. Unexpectedly to Max, a man he once admired, Mr. Blume and Miss
Cross were eventually in love and Max didn t know how to properly handle himself after the incident.
One time we see Max trying to handle the change is when he learns Miss Cross is in love with Mr.
Blume and not him and in this max response when it says, Mr. Blume pulls into the driveway to pick
up the twins from school. There is a lot of traffic and kids are running around everywhere. Mr. Blume
taps the brakes. Nothing happens. He flies toward the back of a parked station wagon (Rushmore). Mr.
Blume tries to break his car to park but realizes he cannot because his brakes have been cut, this
coming after the scene cuts from Max cutting Mr. Blumes tires. This shows how dangerous Max can
be when he is dealt with an occasion like this. He could have killed him from this incident. As seen,
Max is a violent person when it comes to dealing with change. Another time we seen Max having to
deal with change is when he gets kicked out of his beloved high school, Rushmore. He is kicked out
for reasons including bad grades, and the incidents with Miss Cross. We see how Max reacts to this

Psychopathy And The Physiological Etiology Of Psychopathy
Psychopathy is a topic that receives more than its fair share of attention in the media. The very
concept of psychopathy simultaneously fascinates and terrifies people as they attempt to understand
the motivation of people who they deem to be very different than themselves. However, people rarely
stop to consider the physiological differences in individuals with psychopathy, focusing instead on
outward displays of sensational aggression. In order to assess the physiological components of
psychopathy, it is necessary to consider theories on the physiological etiology of psychopathy, the
ways in which the prefrontal cortex and amygdala work together to enhance psychopathic
symptomology, and the ways in which lesions on the prefrontal cortex ... Show more content on

Much like the University of Pennsylvania study, results indicated that reduced functioning in parts of
the brain involved in moral decision making and the expression of emotion may help to explain
psychopathy (Glenn et al, 2009; Marsh et al., 2011). Another theory of the physiological etiology of
psychopathy focuses on the role of serotonergic functionality. As serotonin functions to maintain
mood balance, deficits in the functionality of serotonin have the potential to be hugely detrimental. A
study published in Motivation and Emotion analyzed the role of serotonin in high levels of aggression,
a key component of the expression of psychopathy. Researchers also proposed a connection between
high levels of testosterone and low levels serotonin working together to increase both aggression and
impulsivity (Montoya et al., 2012). These findings complement those in a study conducted by
researchers at Radboud University, which consisted of a between groups comparison between
psychopathy and sociopathy in terms of dysfunction in emotional processing, HPA axis functioning,
and serotonergic profiles, as well as polymorphisms in serotonergic genes and behavioral
endophenotypes (Yildirim Derksen, 2013). Yildirim and Derksen found that issues

Importance Of Freedom Of The Press
The freedom of the press was given to all Americans at the very start of building our union and joining
the 13 divided colonies into a more united nation. To get all the thirteen colonies to agree on the
signing of the Constitution a Bill of Rights was promised to the framers. The Bill of Rights is
comprised with ten amendments giving a sense of security to the framers in making sure that the
government won t take all power away from the citizens residing the the country. The first amendment
included in the Bill of Rights states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment or
abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press. This freedom of the press given to citizens was
something that the framers took serious and gave great importance to. Since this freedom lets the
citizens of America know what goes on behind the scene in the governments offices. This information
is shared with the public making it so that the government doesn t keep important information from its
citizens which would prevent its citizens from speaking out in the wrongdoing they see led by the
government. Thereby not letting the government sly by and take actions that would deem to be unfair
for its people and the rights of its country. This was the kind of tyranny the framers were concerned
about, and the more a person is concerned about tyranny the freer you want freedom of speech and
press to be. One grave imprortance that freedom of the press gave to its citizens was assurance

Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events that are actually
the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent foppery of the world... when we are
sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the
moon, and the stars: as if we were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine
Balance by Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the
characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as government regulations
and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and
uproar of the Emergency in India, Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they
struggle to gain stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various
characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted societal traditions and
systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises itself as fate.
Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles creates a line of
causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry contextualizes these gender roles
when he describes that, It was hard for [wives] not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought
them beatings from their husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this
quote to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and priority in Indian
society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception of Dina, which may explain why the
author gives her a central role in the novel. Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society
in which they live considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is
dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly widowed, but Mistry
depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her independence in a society that expects her to
be subordinate to another man. Even after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother,
Nusswan, compares her life to watching

This science center is home to two different science centers that came together as one. It has a very

made it so popular. This science center did not start off as just a science center. This center was created
by Andrew Carnegie, entrepreneur and philanthropist, who had a big plan.
Andrew Carnegie was born November 25, 1825 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. His family had a huge
interest in books and education. He and his family arrived to United States in 1848. Carnegie began
working at the age of 13 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He eventually became a telegraph messenger and
then moved up and became an assistant to one of the most important railroad officials. He then learned
the ropes of the railroad industry and business. In 1856, he became superintendent. Over the next 10

Additionally, south Broadway is perceived by many metro residents as the place to go for high end

Libby, a mother of a 4 year old son, who is convicted of killing her husband on a boat although she
has no recollection of doing so. She soon finds out that her husband faked the murder and is still alive
with her son. Libby learns in prison that if she killed her husband she cannot be committed of the
crime because she already served time for

kill her husband when she gets out of prison because she cannot be tried for the same crime twice. In
reality, if Libby had killed her husband at the end of the film, which she did, she could be tried again.

Blue Ocean Strategy At France s Insead Business School
Life is full of games, in which we always want to be the winner. Most of the time, to accomplish this,
we are ready to do whatever it takes to win without thinking how it effects others around us and this
leads the game to get bloody and the players to be merciless. The same pattern of struggle for winning
and the sense of game is relevant in the business world. In their book Blue Ocean Strategy, W. Chan
Kim and Renée Mauborgne strategy professors at France s INSEAD business school, proved that in
this sphere, games don t always have to be this bloody by conveying a world where companies profit
and grow in a competition free environment. Reading and discovering more than 150 business
researches, Kim and Mauborgne help us to discover the idea of this sphere, so called blue ocean,
which became an essential in strategic business thinking. In this review, we are going to summarize
and analyze the strategies which Kim and Mauborgne conveys.
Blue Ocean Strategy advocates that for a company to be successful, creating and opening a new
market space that no one has entered before is essential. In order to gain and to sustain the value
innovation, every single corporate and business owner should create and discover contentious areas of
the market that is ready to grow. This market place is called the blue ocean , a term that should be, but

Chain Store Contract
There are various elements that should be present to prove a valid contract exists between Sam and the
chain store. There are four elements of a contract and they consist of an offer and agreement,
consideration, contractual capacity, legal subject matter, and no valid defenses (Kubasek, 2015). The
first element agreement would be considered to exist if: the safety chain store (offerer) made an offer
to Sam (offeree) with actual intent to be bound to an agreement, definite terms were agreed on, and if
communication occurred between Sam and the chain store. The second element of consideration
would be deemed to exist if the chain store discussed the type of payment Sam would have received
for delivering 1,000 units of his new invention. Consideration, ... Show more content on

Such a contract may be verbal or in writing under a standard residential lease agreement. There are a
few facts that may support Sam being in breach of his contract. One fact is that Sam did not retrieve a
license to make and sell his inventions. All 50 states have statues that require certain professions to
have licenses before they practice (Kubasek, 2015). Sam could also be in breach for violating
covenant of quiet enjoyment, which is the promise the tenant has the right to quietly enjoy his
surroundings (Kubasek, 2015). Since the noise from Sam s barking device has bothered other tenants,
he is interfering with their right to quiet enjoyment. Otherwise, this loud barking invention has
become a nuisance for the other tenants. Some facts that may support that Sam is not in breach of his
contract are mistake of fact, which consists of unconscious ignorance of past or present material event
or circumstances (Kubasek, 2015). Sam believed Quinn understood he was starting a business
remotely when Sam told Quinn he was working on his new inventions and Quinn wished him good
luck. Due to this mistake of fact, Sam would not be breaching his

Examples Of Social Identity In 12 Angry Men
3. Social identity (10 points): What role(s) does social identity play in the movie? Discuss SID in
relationship of the jury to the accused. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they apply).
Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership to a
group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their knowledge of
their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance attached to that
membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to. Belonging to the in
group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group and allows them to feel
important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to a group and have feeling of
exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who belongs to the ingroup. This
bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false impressions being made and
stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us by providing a quick
representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our perceptions are always
correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble. For example, the film 12
Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. When a stereotype is used it can cause a
disruption of procedures. Instead, of inspecting all the evidence with an objective eye a bias can allow
for systematic

A Shift in the Balance of Power Between the Generations and the Sexes Throughout Hobsons Choice
The stereotypical view of that period was that men had more power compared to women. Whether it
was a father or a husband they had a more powerful status. The women were seen as the weaker sex
and second class citizens this is portrayed by Jim, a woman s foolishness begins where a mans leave s

faded into the background and were punished for speaking out. In Hobsons choice the typical family

They rely on their looks to get through life. Even though they answer back to their father, this would
be shown on stage as the stage directions tell is Vickey is anxious to resume her reading. It shows she
is not interested in her father and wants to carry on with her own thing. This is unlike the stereotypical
power in a 1880 s relationship. Hobson still has power over them. We think Alice and Vickey are a
hassle for Hobson and this is why he is marrying them off against their will. Alice and Vickey think of
their father as bad tempered. But still try to get round him but eventually give up, as they know he will
never back down. Whereas Maggie could argue with Hobson forever until he would be stuck for
words. On stage the audience would see this as the stage directions as he drives Alice and Vickey

the door. She looks at him from the stair. This shows a power struggle between Hobson and Maggie.
The audience would be able to see the power beginning to shift. Even though all of Hobson s

Domestic And International Measures Of International Crime
Both domestic and international measures are somewhat effective in dealing with international crime.
Both crimes against the international community and Transnational crimes represent both positive
outcomes in dealing with international crime, thus, exemplify issues in key areas. Through
intergovernmental organizations such as the International Criminal Court and Operation Sovereign
Borders (OSB), international crime Is effectively dealt with. Hence, problems such as extradition and
people smuggling are hard to contain. These four issues will also be discussed in light of key
effectiveness criteria, including equality, access, resources and the protection of rights.
Crimes against the international community are a collection of offences that are recognised by the
international community as being of universal concern. However the prosecution of crimes against the
international community can be controversial. Such crimes may be committed in the context of
military conflict. They may be highly politically motivated, or they may have been ordered or
committed by the state itself. The establishment of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2002 was
a significant development in the law of crimes against the international community. The independent
international court established by the Rome Statute, acts as a last resort for crimes fitting into the three
categories of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Due to Australia s Dualistic system,

Analysis Of Tongues By John Lyons
Out of curiosity, two friends decide to sneak through the back door of a recently deserted old mansion.
They explore in silence for fear of the unknown. The first person ahead constantly looks back at the
second person. What is bound to go through the second person s mind? Is it unsafe ahead? Is
something wrong? What is the person ahead trying to communicate? That is an example of how a
horse would feel when led by a human who looks back at him. Remember, horses rely on good
leadership for survival. So, with the human constantly looking back, it tells the horse that the person is
not safe to follow. The human is not a leader. Leadership is guiding another with confidence. Clear

Humans typically think of horses as just animals. Firstly, horses are intelligent creatures with different
personalities, abilities, and sensitivities. Humans should realize that each horse has a different need
and that each training requirement is different. In the second place, people often comment that their
horses are too senseless to need a choice. A while back, I read a story about a mare who was dying
from fighting an illness and exhaustion. Before she died, she walked for days across exposed moors
leading her foal to the safety of a farm where she died less than twenty four hours later. She died after
knowing her foal was safe. Does that sound like a senseless horse? A horse with that much
intelligence, to have no choice during training? It is inconceivable. Horses are not incapable of
understanding communication; it is up to the human not to send out mixed signals. In the third place,
when the human sends the horse away during equine training, the person is giving the horse a choice.
Either the horse will stay away or come back to safety. When the person gives the horse a choice, the
horse is very willing to work. Another example is when a horse is standing next to the human, and the
horse starts to bump the person with his head; signs of trying to dominate the human, the person will
move the horse away. The first inclination of the animal is to come back where the person is

This results in the N terminal regulatory domain of BRAF being replaced, leading to constitutively
enhanced kinase activity (21). Five separate KIAA1549 BRAF fusion configurations were originally
described including between exons 16;9, 15;9, 16;11, 18;10, and 19;9 in order of prevalence (19).
Fusions involving FAM131B and SRGAP3 with BRAF resulting in similar kinase activation have also
been described, although at significantly lower frequencies (21, 22). Subsequent findings showed that
RAS MAPK activation through BRAF fusions are present in both grade I and grade II malignancies,
although significantly less frequent in the latter (21, 23 27). The presence of BRAF fusion events in
pLGG has been shown to aid in tumor diagnosis (28), predict clinical outcome (29, 30), and dictate
the most appropriate therapeutic approach (31 33), and, as such, represents a critical factor in the
management of pLGG. Besides BRAF, additional fusions such as those involving FGFR1,
MYB/MYBL1, QKI, and NTRK2/3 have also been described in pLGG (34 37). As is seen in the
BRAF fusions, kinase activation is the resultant effect. Due to their size and location, pLGG biopsies
are generally processed as formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. As such, the use
of these tissue samples for the purposes of BRAF fusion detection requires specially designed and

Bazarovism And Nihilism
During the 1860s, there were new, different streams of thoughts that were emerging. In Fathers and
Sons, Bazarov was a nihilist, and represented the younger generation who believed in Bazarovism.
Turgenev s description of Bazarov and his attempts to change Nikolai Petrovich Kirsanov, a
Romantic, reveals what Turgenev thought toward nihilists. Bazarov s actions and thoughts mirror the
thoughts of those young scholars during the 1860s. Throughout his novel, Turgenev s portrayal of
Bazarov create a description of Bazarovism, a different and new type of literary type and thought for
Russia during the 1860s. These new literary and intellectual types of thought grew from the
generational difference between the fathers and the sons. As it grew out of a difference between
generations, Bazarovism is largely different from Romanticism, what the fathers believe in, and is
related to nihilism.
Turgenev, in describing what type of person Bazarov was, coined the term nihilism. In Fathers and
Sons, Arkady, Nikolai s son, states that Bazarov is a nihilist. Turgenev then describes the actions of
Bazarov, creating a new intellectual thought, Bazarovism. Bazarovism is mostly derived from his own
actions and views, but is also influenced by others reactions to the way Bazarov acts. As a nihilist,
Bazarov rejects anything unless it has been previously proven to be true. Arkady tells his father,
Nikolai, and Pavel, his uncle, that as a nihilist, Bazarov looks at everything critically. Instead

A dream. A world where ideas run wild and imagination is the primary mode of thought. Reality is a

character, has an active imagination that causes her to loose sight of reality like getting lost in
dreaming. Her imagination and disposition to think a little too well of herself causes Emma to be

her popularity to influence the decision. [T]hough Emma continued to protest against any assistance
being wanted [from Harriet], it was in fact given in the formation of every sentence (34). Caught up in
her self appointed role as cupid, Emma ignores the possibility that Harriet and Mr. Martin could ever

Mr. Elton reducing himself to Harriet s inferior position through marriage. While his warning causes
Emma to momentarily doubt herself, she quickly erases these thoughts with a satisfaction which
settled her with her own mind, and convinced her... she had done nothing which woman s friendship
and woman s feelings would not justify (43). Evidently, Emma is easily able to dismiss Mr. Knightley
s rational suggestions, satisfied with her own more amusing ideas. She remains confident in her own
imaginative schemes, letting that govern her conduct. As the novel progresses and Mr. Elton reveals
Emma as the true object of his affection, Emma s prediction and meddling proves to be a failure. In

The Security Of A Bank Transaction, Online Shopping Or...
ABSTRACT
Whether it be transferring of funds, making a bank transaction, online shopping or booking flight
tickets on our mobile app, these things have never been so quick and hassle free as today. Evolution of
banking sector has been phenomenal. Moreover, the present, ever expanding, inculcation of digital
technology has accommodated, within its premise, a further lag in analyzing the consequential stakes.
A common practice of espionage targets both banking institution as well as its customers. Strikingly,
the frontier between the different security threats are fuzzy, either due to the complexity of domain or
the ever increasing customer base.
The banks are governed by some regulations and policies, yet it does have a scope for the well
equipped sophisticated fraudsters to function with seeming impunity. Besides, the complexity that
governs these frauds is even more baffling. A bank fraud can cause notable damage at an
unprecedented scale, be it to an individual customer or the complete organization. Over and above,
today a bank fraud cannot be claimed as furtiveness and anonymity are apparent rewards of choosing
Internet as the base platform. Every niche of our socio economic environment is technology dependent
which proportionately increases the vulnerability of the entire plot to frauds. Threat such as breach of
certitude necessitates constant awareness and diligence for mitigating and preventing unseen frauds.
Definitely we cannot suppress these frauds but their

Data Warehouses and Data Marts: A Dynamic View By Joseph M. Firestone, Ph.D. White Paper No.
Three March 27, 1997
Patterns of Data Mart Development In the beginning, there were only the islands of information: the
operational data stores and legacy systems that needed enterprise wide integration; and the data
warehouse: the solution to the problem of integration of diverse and often redundant corporate
information assets. Data marts were not a part of the vision. Soon though, it was clear that the vision
was too sweeping. It is too difficult, too costly, too impolitic, and requires too long a development
period, for many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, its relation to the data warehouse turns the first pattern of development on its head. Here
multiple data marts are parents to the data warehouse, which evolves from them organically. The third
pattern of development attempts to synthesize and remove the conflict inherent in the first two. Here
data marts are seen as developing in parallel with the data warehouse. Both develop from islands of
information, but data marts don t have to wait for the data warehouse to be implemented. It is enough
that each data mart is guided by the enterprise data model developed for the data warehouse, and is
developed in a manner consistent with this data model. Then the data marts can be finished quickly,
and can be modified later when the enterprise data warehouse is finished. These three patterns of data
mart development have in common a viewpoint that does not explicitly consider the role of user
feedback in the development process. Each view assumes that the relationship between data
warehouses and data marts is relatively static. The data mart is a subset of the data warehouse, or the
data warehouse is an outgrowth of the data marts, or there is parallel development, with the data marts
guided by the data warehouse data model, and ultimately superseded by the data warehouse, which
provides a final answer to the islands of information problem. Whatever view is taken, the role of
users in the dynamics of data warehouse/data

How does it affect skeletal muscle function?
The muscles fiber membrane contains a group of proteins the dystrophin glycoprotein complex that
prohibits harm as muscle fibers contract and relax. When this protective membrane is damaged,
muscles fibers begins to leak the protein creatine kinase and take on excess calcium, which causes
further harm.
Does DMD affect boys and girls equally? If not, who are primarily affected and why?
Because DMD is an inherited in X linked recessive pattern, and males only have one copy of the X

Stand up comedy industry Essay
Title Stand up comedy industry
Thesis 1: From an industrial organization point of view, the stand up comedy market structure in the

The structure of a market, thus how a market is functioning, is the concept behind the industrial
organization theory . The Industrial Organization (IO) theory is about, how a structure of a market has
an influence on the strategy and decision making of a company. 1 The theory therefore focusses on the
market wherein the company operates and links the decisions of the company to the market. In the

In 1975 such a diachronic dialectic was found for the first time in de music industry by Peterson and
Berger. They saw an active interaction/connection between small and large firms, which influenced
the market. While the large firms were competing with each other, niches opened up and were filled
by smaller firms.
But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000), there is not a
diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up comedy industry.
According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in 1985, this dialectic
exists when the big firms are competing with each other. Just a few of these generalists survive and
they move forward toward the centre of the market. Because of this movement small pockets of
resources open up, where smaller firms can thrive (Vermeulen Bruggeman, 2000).
However, in the stand up comedy industry it is difficult to underestimate large and small firms, instead
we distinguish comedians and the media they use to reach their audience. Hence it weren t large firms
causing the opening of the niches for smaller firms. Instead it has been the increase of the use of
media over the past couple decades that has stimulated the creative industry of stand up comedy.

therefore, they retried by passing another Parliament Act called the Townshend Act. The Townshend
Acts were a small tax on specific items such as sugar, glass, and tea. In spite of this, colonists resorted
to widespread economic boycotting, causing British collected taxes to drop what is now worth roughly
about eight million dollars and British businesses to lose today s worth of approximately three
hundred million dollars, nearly bankrupting England. With the Townshend Act set up, it permitted the
Parliament to send troops to the colonies in order to prevent repeated violence and avoid colony riots,
street demonstrations, protests, and attacks. Yet,

Jack Russel Terrier Research Paper
The Jack Russell Terrier, or also known as the Parson Russell Terrier, are
more than just your everyday pet, they re more like a Jack in a box. These exuberant
little creatures are sought after and used for many different purposes. They date
back to as early as the 1800 s and were bred specifically for one purpose: that is
hunting fox and other small varmints. Don t let their hunting lineage fool you; they
are capable of far more than chasing a fox down a hole. Jack Russell Terriers are
among one of the most commonly used dogs in film and entertainment. Jack
Russell s gained a great deal of attention through the media when the show Frasier

It is important that a Jack Russell is
exercised daily, due to the amount of energy they contain. According to the article,
The Jack Russell Terrier Personality: Small Dog, Big Attitude, author Amy Brannan
states, like most intelligent dog breeds that were intended as working dogs, Jack
Russell s must be stimulated every single day and offered an appropriate level of
exercise to allow the dog an outlet for its energy (par. 7). Some may look at their
high energy levels as a bad trait, but it doesn t have to be. They are great for an
active individual seeking a dog that can keep up and constantly be on the move. This
holds especially true for any active person who loves to spend a great deal of time
outdoors; seeing the Jack Russell s main objective Is to hunt. If you re the type of
person who likes to be entertained, Jack Russell s are known for doing some very
quirky things. Such things include, running circles around your house at the speed of

Theme Of Romanticism In Frankenstein And La Bell Dame Sans...
Many Romantic works have placed an important focus on the interesting figure of the strange,
mysterious and the Other. The essay will be concerned with the paramount role the Other plays in
Shelley s Frankenstein and Keats poems. Since this entity entails elements of unusualness and is thus
incomprehensible, it already dwells within the realm of oddness and unknowability. Therefore, the
figure of the Other in this essay will be treated as synonymous with that which is strange or
mysterious . Through installing such a disruptive figure into the orderly narrative structure as the
perplexing site of exoticness and peculiarity, the Romantic authors are not only creating a fascinating
appeal within their works, but are also inviting readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the foreign element in the poem, she already emanates a curious vibe of exotic fantasy displayed
from her strange language (23), such an impression then leading to her positioning as the Other whom
which the knight fails to comprehend. But she is also mystical in that her very being is subjected to
unfixable definition. The lady is attributed to be both belle dame and beldame , her dual identity
presenting as a macaronic pun (Williams 214), as a bilingual mix of words operating within the same
context. While belle dame in French depicts a pleasant beautiful maiden, the English version beldame
contradictorily points towards the figuration of a malicious old hag. Thus, the lady s name itself
already signifies a kind of perplexing fluidity. Her true nature can never be clearly captured by the
knight, akin to how one can never grasp flowing water within the palm. Right from the start, she is
already portrayed as an elusive Dionysian entity which cannot be readily subsumed within the
Establishment s fixed Apollonian codes of understanding. The knight regards her brows as washed out
with feverish dew (10). Dew holds a refreshing quality and symbolically represents the vitality of
renewal. However, this pristineness is quickly being transmuted into that which enacts agony and

Amy Cuddy s Impressions
It s easy to trust someone from the get go, but once that trust is lost, it is difficult to gain back. This is
what social psychologist, Amy Cuddy, stated in her interview with Rob Capps, deputy editor for
Wired Magazine, about first impressions. In this interview, Amy Cuddy s intentions were to specify
the interactions people have when they meet for the first time. Cuddy had studied this topic for a
while, by researching people s observations. Trust is a vital element when meeting someone, because
if the person were to talk over you, then there would be no respect for the person after that. In her
interview, Cuddy said, You can also establish trust by collecting information about the other person s
interests (Cuddy, 254). She simply means

How Patriotism Has Shaped American Culture
Patriotism is, per definition, devoted love, support, and defense of one s country. Since the founding of
our nation, it has been a prominent part of the American Culture. Patriotism is rooted in values which
include honor, loyalty, and bravery among others. There are many ways that an American can show
their pride. One of the biggest way to prove one s love for the nation is to joining the military to
defend our liberties. In America, there is even a holiday to celebrate Patriotism. The Fourth of July
celebrates America s independence and it often includes the displaying of the American flag and
respective merchandise, parades, political speeches, and fireworks. Some people display different
levels of patriotism and that can be conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a society where everyone is watching and ready to point fingers, these groups of people may
receive more scrutiny. One example of people who may not display much patriotism is the immigrant
minority group. Devout Americans may think that immigrants and other minorities have not adapted
to the culture and therefore cannot understand American pride. They are often frowned upon when
they lack common knowledge of American history. People use this against them to support their idea
that this group of people may be unpatriotic. However, these immigrants and minority groups have
come to America chasing the American Dream. They have left everything behind and come to an
unknown place with nothing but dreams to become a part of the Land of the Free. Immigrants seek
asylum and citizenship in this great nation, in hopes to make it their own and enjoy the rights that we
celebrate. Moreover, there are true Americans who publicly defy a sense of patriotism. For instance,
when many NFL players decided to take a knee during the national anthem, many were outraged by
their lack of respect for the United States. While many were angry, others showed solidarity and did
the same when they found out the cause they were speaking out about. Furthermore, when famous
singers forget the words to the Star Spangled Banner, they are always sympathized by the audience
and still receive the applause. The

Political Oligarchy In a 2014 report titled Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens, Martin Gilens and Benjamin Page wrote that their Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass based interest groups have little or no independent influence. As the report became increasingly popular, scholars, politicians and others all created their own thoughts and opinions on the issues. UFOs are typically associated with extraterrestrial life or in some circumstances there has been some conspiracy theories that they are government related. UFOs have been used and portrayed heavily in Hollywood films throughout the decades and in the media. Technically a UFO could be categorized as an unknown plane or helicopter but when instead UFOs are brought up people think of a saucer like object shown in the picture. Since the birth of the UFO the media and Hollywood have in a way blown the thoughts of UFOs out of proportion. Astronomers have said that these lights were a piece of natural debris burning up as a fireball. The men on duty first thought that it was a downed aircraft and naturally went out to go check on it and see what was happening. As they entered the forest to investigate, they claimed to have seen a glowing object, metallic in appearance with different colored lights. As the men went closer to check it out, the object started to move through the trees, causing animals on nearby farms to panic and freak out. A couple hours later, the local police were called out to the scene where the UFO was reported, the only lights that were seen by them came from a local lighthouse a couple miles on the coast. ... The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the Shoreline: Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social and environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history from the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries, canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the intersection of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of intersectional analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far between. I demonstrate that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the Monterey more often, the book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does acknowledge the intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her book. The moment where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey. The Igbo utilize tattooing as a manner of reflecting the character and life experiences of a person in a form visible to the people around them. In the novel, Okonkwo was the epitome of manliness because of his athletic prowess and his position of power within the clan, emphasized on page 26 of Achebe s work, He was talking about Okonkwo, who had risen so suddenly from great poverty and misfortune to be one of the lords of the clan . ... Consequently, combining the physical representations of the demonstrated traits is what creates a tattoo revealing the Igbos attachment to customs. Additionally, a tattoo also representing religion made with the symbols for guardianship, the presence of gods, and trust is poignant when remembering the people of Mbanta s first reaction to European missionaries. In the Middle Ages, the Feudal System was a very important system to kings in order for them to control entire countries. The Feudal System was a vital system to William I who could not control all the land he had. According to Chris Trueman, William had defeated the English army lead by Harold Godwine but before he could be called King of England he had to gain control of all of England. The nobles had the highest stats and possessed the most wealth and land. The clergy could be rich or poor, depending on their title and how much influence they had over the people. The serfs had the lowest stats and possessed the least amount of wealth and land (Characteristics). Life in the Middle Ages was hard, especially for serfs, and few people could read or write. During the years of the Roman Empire, the soldiers of the emperor protected the poor people. Then when the empire fell, there were no laws protecting them, so they turned to the lords to keep the peace and to act on their behalf. This willingness of the poor people to be ruled by the lords led to the beginning of Feudalism. Some peasants, poor people, were free, but most became serfs, slaves, to the lord. Serfs generally lived in communities that were ruled by the local nobles. They could not marry or even leave the manor without the lord s permission. Serfs did all the work on the manor farm and all serfs worked: men, women, and children. • 9. The Effects Of Drone Use On National Parks The Effects of Drone Use in National Parks Drones have been a debatable topic since the 1930s. Some countries have banned them, some states have banned them, and even the United States National Park Service has banned them. There has been controversy for the last few years of this new rising robot on whether the U.S. National Park Service should allow it or whether it should be illegal in our parks. They were invented during World War II to help the military spy on enemies. Their technical term is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or RPA (Remotely Piloted Aerial System). Meissner was charged with leaving property unattended, commercial filming without a permit, and violating the ban on drones. He faced up to six months in jail and fines for each violation. Most drone users in National Parks have good intentions, being in one of the most beautiful places in the world, who wouldn t want to capture that from an artistic view? Teachers, artists, photographers, filmmakers are the ones wanting to film these national parks from a different perspective. Showing the beauty and teaching those who don t know enough about national parks are the key reasons of these drones. Teaching others about national parks through the internet is a great way for people to learn if they aren t fortunate to be able to visit these parks in person. Philanthropists may see the beautiful footage a drone can capture and want to donate to the park service. If the media brings awareness to national parks it will draw in more visitors that can educate themselves on the beauty of true nature. • 11. Eassy On Apartheid The great Nelson Mandela once said When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw. (Long Walk to Freedom, 1995) Apartheid means separation. Apartheid destroy lives and apartheid separate blacks and coloured from the rest of the world. P.W. Botha stated in the mid 1980 s Simple justice suggests that you must allow a black man with his family to live a healthy, decent life and you must provide work, where possible, for him, and not allow him to squat on your doorstep... and then, in the name of Christianity, say now that you ve done your duty towards him? I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority. Authorised by P.W. Botha, apartheid took control and manipulated the South African political system in favour of the white minority, illustrating the 40 years of Apartheid where majority of the coloured population had feared and suffered through the 148 harsh Apartheid policies and legislations. The very concept of psychopathy simultaneously fascinates and terrifies people as they attempt to understand the motivation of people who they deem to be very different than themselves. However, people rarely stop to consider the physiological differences in individuals with psychopathy, focusing instead on outward displays of sensational aggression. In order to assess the physiological components of psychopathy, it is necessary to consider theories on the physiological etiology of psychopathy, the ways in which the prefrontal cortex and amygdala work together to enhance psychopathic symptomology, and the ways in which lesions on the prefrontal cortex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like the University of Pennsylvania study, results indicated that reduced functioning in parts of the brain involved in moral decision making and the expression of emotion may help to explain psychopathy (Glenn et al, 2009; Marsh et al., 2011). Another theory of the physiological etiology of psychopathy focuses on the role of serotonergic functionality. As serotonin functions to maintain mood balance, deficits in the functionality of serotonin have the potential to be hugely detrimental. A study published in Motivation and Emotion analyzed the role of serotonin in high levels of aggression, a key component of the expression of psychopathy. Researchers also proposed a connection between high levels of testosterone and low levels serotonin working together to increase both aggression and impulsivity (Montoya et al., 2012). These findings complement those in a study conducted by researchers at Radboud University, which consisted of a between groups comparison between psychopathy and sociopathy in terms of dysfunction in emotional processing, HPA axis functioning, and serotonergic profiles, as well as polymorphisms in serotonergic genes and behavioral endophenotypes (Yildirim Derksen, 2013). To get all the thirteen colonies to agree on the signing of the Constitution a Bill of Rights was promised to the framers. The Bill of Rights is comprised with ten amendments giving a sense of security to the framers in making sure that the government won t take all power away from the citizens residing the the country. The first amendment included in the Bill of Rights states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press. This freedom of the press given to citizens was something that the framers took serious and gave great importance to. Since this freedom lets the citizens of America know what goes on behind the scene in the governments offices. This information is shared with the public making it so that the government doesn t keep important information from its citizens which would prevent its citizens from speaking out in the wrongdoing they see led by the government. Thereby not letting the government sly by and take actions that would deem to be unfair for its people and the rights of its country. • 15. Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events that are actually the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent foppery of the world... when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars: as if we were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as government regulations and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and uproar of the Emergency in India, Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they struggle to gain stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted societal traditions and systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises itself as fate. Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles creates a line of causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry contextualizes these gender roles when he describes that, It was hard for [wives] not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought them beatings from their husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this quote to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and priority in Indian society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception of Dina, which may explain why the author gives her a central role in the novel. Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society in which they live considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly widowed, but Mistry depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her independence in a society that expects her to be subordinate to another man. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they apply). Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership to a group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their knowledge of their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance attached to that membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to. Belonging to the in group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group and allows them to feel important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to a group and have feeling of exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who belongs to the ingroup. This bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false impressions being made and stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us by providing a quick representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our perceptions are always correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble. For example, the film 12 Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. What is the person ahead trying to communicate? That is an example of how a horse would feel when led by a human who looks back at him. Remember, horses rely on good leadership for survival. Firstly, horses are intelligent creatures with different personalities, abilities, and sensitivities. Humans should realize that each horse has a different need and that each training requirement is different. In the second place, people often comment that their horses are too senseless to need a choice. A while back, I read a story about a mare who was dying from fighting an illness and exhaustion. Before she died, she walked for days across exposed moors leading her foal to the safety of a farm where she died less than twenty four hours later. She died after knowing her foal was safe. Does that sound like a senseless horse? A horse with that much intelligence, to have no choice during training? It is inconceivable. Horses are not incapable of understanding communication; it is up to the human not to send out mixed signals. In the third place, when the human sends the horse away during equine training, the person is giving the horse a choice. Either the horse will stay away or come back to safety. When the person gives the horse a choice, the horse is very willing to work. Another example is when a horse is standing next to the human, and the horse starts to bump the person with his head; signs of trying to dominate the human, the person will move the horse away. The presence of BRAF fusion events in pLGG has been shown to aid in tumor diagnosis (28), predict clinical outcome (29, 30), and dictate the most appropriate therapeutic approach (31 33), and, as such, represents a critical factor in the management of pLGG. Besides BRAF, additional fusions such as those involving FGFR1, MYB/MYBL1, QKI, and NTRK2/3 have also been described in pLGG (34 37). As is seen in the BRAF fusions, kinase activation is the resultant effect. Due to their size and location, pLGG biopsies are generally processed as formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. As such, the use of these tissue samples for the purposes of BRAF fusion detection requires specially designed and validated assays that tolerate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Bazarovism And Nihilism During the 1860s, there were new, different streams of thoughts that were emerging. In Fathers and Sons, Bazarov was a nihilist, and represented the younger generation who believed in Bazarovism. Turgenev s description of Bazarov and his attempts to change Nikolai Petrovich Kirsanov, a Romantic, reveals what Turgenev thought toward nihilists. Bazarov s actions and thoughts mirror the thoughts of those young scholars during the 1860s. Throughout his novel, Turgenev s portrayal of Bazarov create a description of Bazarovism, a different and new type of literary type and thought for Russia during the 1860s. These new literary and intellectual types of thought grew from the generational difference between the fathers and the sons. As it grew out of a difference between generations, Bazarovism is largely different from Romanticism, what the fathers believe in, and is related to nihilism. Turgenev, in describing what type of person Bazarov was, coined the term nihilism. In Fathers and Sons, Arkady, Nikolai s son, states that Bazarov is a nihilist. Turgenev then describes the actions of Bazarov, creating a new intellectual thought, Bazarovism. Bazarovism is mostly derived from his own actions and views, but is also influenced by others reactions to the way Bazarov acts. As a nihilist, Bazarov rejects anything unless it has been previously proven to be true. Arkady tells his father, Nikolai, and Pavel, his uncle, that as a nihilist, Bazarov looks at everything critically. Instead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eventually, the dream comes to an end as reality creeps into sleep and the fantasy finishes. The story of Jane Austen s Emma is one of a similar account. Emma Woodhouse, the main character, has an active imagination that causes her to loose sight of reality like getting lost in dreaming. Her imagination and disposition to think a little too well of herself causes Emma to be emotionally arrogant and skews her perception of other characters (Austen, 1). While it is ultimately Harriet s choice to decline Mr. Martin, Emma uses her popularity to influence the decision. [T]hough Emma continued to protest against any assistance being wanted [from Harriet], it was in fact given in the formation of every sentence (34). Caught up in her self appointed role as cupid, Emma ignores the possibility that Harriet and Mr. Martin could ever live happily together. Upon hearing of Harriet s rejection to Mr. Martin, Knightley suspects Emma s attempt to produce a match between Harriet and Mr. Elton. He warns Emma about the unlikelihood of Mr. Elton reducing himself to Harriet s inferior position through marriage. While his warning causes Emma to momentarily doubt herself, she quickly erases these thoughts with a satisfaction which settled her with her own mind, and convinced her... she had done nothing which woman s friendship and woman s feelings would not justify (43). Evidently, Emma is easily able to dismiss Mr. Knightley s rational suggestions, satisfied with her own more amusing ideas. She remains confident in her own imaginative schemes, letting that govern her conduct. As the novel progresses and Mr. Elton reveals Emma as the true object of his affection, Emma s prediction and meddling proves to be a failure. In reflecting on her behavior, Emma notes, ... ABSTRACT Whether it be transferring of funds, making a bank transaction, online shopping or booking flight tickets on our mobile app, these things have never been so quick and hassle free as today. Evolution of banking sector has been phenomenal. Moreover, the present, ever expanding, inculcation of digital technology has accommodated, within its premise, a further lag in analyzing the consequential stakes. A common practice of espionage targets both banking institution as well as its customers. Strikingly, the frontier between the different security threats are fuzzy, either due to the complexity of domain or the ever increasing customer base. The banks are governed by some regulations and policies, yet it does have a scope for the well equipped sophisticated fraudsters to function with seeming impunity. Besides, the complexity that governs these frauds is even more baffling. A bank fraud can cause notable damage at an unprecedented scale, be it to an individual customer or the complete organization. Over and above, today a bank fraud cannot be claimed as furtiveness and anonymity are apparent rewards of choosing Internet as the base platform. Every niche of our socio economic environment is technology dependent which proportionately increases the vulnerability of the entire plot to frauds. Threat such as breach of certitude necessitates constant awareness and diligence for mitigating and preventing unseen frauds. Definitely we cannot suppress these frauds but their ... Firestone, Ph.D. White Paper No. Three March 27, 1997 Patterns of Data Mart Development In the beginning, there were only the islands of information: the operational data stores and legacy systems that needed enterprise wide integration; and the data warehouse: the solution to the problem of integration of diverse and often redundant corporate information assets. Data marts were not a part of the vision. Soon though, it was clear that the vision was too sweeping. Moreover, its relation to the data warehouse turns the first pattern of development on its head. Here multiple data marts are parents to the data warehouse, which evolves from them organically. The third pattern of development attempts to synthesize and remove the conflict inherent in the first two. Here data marts are seen as developing in parallel with the data warehouse. Both develop from islands of information, but data marts don t have to wait for the data warehouse to be implemented. It is enough that each data mart is guided by the enterprise data model developed for the data warehouse, and is developed in a manner consistent with this data model. Then the data marts can be finished quickly, and can be modified later when the enterprise data warehouse is finished. These three patterns of data mart development have in common a viewpoint that does not explicitly consider the role of user feedback in the development process. Each view assumes that the relationship between data warehouses and data marts is relatively static. The data mart is a subset of the data warehouse, or the data warehouse is an outgrowth of the data marts, or there is parallel development, with the data marts guided by the data warehouse data model, and ultimately superseded by the data warehouse, which provides a final answer to the islands of information problem. The Industrial Organization (IO) theory is about, how a structure of a market has an influence on the strategy and decision making of a company. 1 The theory therefore focusses on the market wherein the company operates and links the decisions of the company to the market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1975 such a diachronic dialectic was found for the first time in de music industry by Peterson and Berger. They saw an active interaction/connection between small and large firms, which influenced the market. While the large firms were competing with each other, niches opened up and were filled by smaller firms. But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000), there is not a diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up comedy industry. According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in 1985, this dialectic exists when the big firms are competing with each other. Just a few of these generalists survive and they move forward toward the centre of the market. Because of this movement small pockets of resources open up, where smaller firms can thrive (Vermeulen Bruggeman, 2000). However, in the stand up comedy industry it is difficult to underestimate large and small firms, instead we distinguish comedians and the media they use to reach their audience.
