The Noose Of Pride Research Paper
The Noose of Pride The noose of pride wraps around every human being s neck. Pride strips us of
ability to breathe, to struggle, and do anything to give up and succumb to our death. In the myth, the
maiden Arachne challenged Athene. Arachne s despair after failing proves that no one can let go of
pride, and it s even harder to make let go of us. Arachne doesn t ever let go of her pride. Even when
she falls at Athene s feet in fear for her life, she gives her a cloak, claiming You have nothing more
fine (Evslin 11) Arachne brings on her own demise. She desperately breathes only her pride until there
s no reason for her to have any and she suddenly suffocates. After losing the contest Arachne also
loses all sense of her worth. She scrabbles

Enron Was The Largest Bankruptcy Of America Essay
Enron had the largest bankruptcy in America s history and it happened in less than a year because of
scandals and manipulation Enron displayed with California s energy supply. A few years ago, Enron
was the world s 7th largest corporation, valued at 70 billion dollars. At that time, Enron s business
model was full of energy and power. Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling had raised Enron to stand on a culture
of greed, lies, and fraud, coupled with an unregulated accounting system, which caused Enron to go
down. Lies were being told by top management to the government, its employees and investors. There
was a rise in Enron s share price because of pyramid scheme; their strategy consisted of claiming so
much money to easily get away with their tricky ways. They deceived their investors so they could
keep investing their money in the company.
Kenneth Lay, former Chairman and CEO, and Jeff Skilling who was also a CEO and COO of Enron,
had the major part in Enron when it collapsed and went bankrupt. Because of deregulations Ken Lay
enter Enron in 1985 through a merger a vast network of natural gas and pipeline. Later, Enron grew
into an energy trading company which was worth $68 billion in 2000. Lays family was poor, which
made him ambitious to earn wealth regardless of the path he takes, hence, unethical professionalism at
Enron. Enron took advantage of his decision to let gas prices float on the market. Rich Kinde found

The Second Treatise Of Government
In the Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains human beings right of private property as a
natural, enforceable right that men are granted with in the state of Nature as part of his larger
justification of the replacement of the state of Nature by civil governments. The basis of Locke s
interpretation of such right comes from God s ownership of what God creates, including both human
beings and worldly resources. While human beings ownerships of their bodies are granted directly
through God, Locke laid out 3 main conditions to be sufficed in order to justify private appropriations
of worldly resources. This paper will examine Locke s premises regarding the state of Nature and his
explanations of these conditions, compare them with Rousseau s version of requirements for private
holdings in The Social Contract, and at the same time discuss whether each condition for private
appropriation is sufficient in his effort of justifying unlimited properties.
To begin with, Locke believes that at the state of nature, human beings are given the right of
properties, and private appropriations can occur as long as they fulfill three main criteria. Such
assumption allows Locke to discuss private properties without the interference of other parties,
including civil governments. According to Locke, human beings and their private properties are
protected by nature as God s will to expect human beings to thrive and to develop, also driven by
human beings natural rights of living and

The Invasion of Grenada
The invasion of Grenada also know as Operation Urgent Fury was a U.S invasion to the Grenada
Island in 1983 that Overthrew the communist government in favor of a pro Western one in a period of
less than two months. On October 13, President Reagan was made aware of possible trouble in
Granada. Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard had removed Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and
recognized military rule. Six days later, Bishop was murdered. Bishop was a socialist and had bonds
with Cuba; he spent his time making Grenada wholly socialist and encouraged development in the
private sector to make the island a current traveler destination. With this in mind president Reagan was
highly concerned. The president had two main reasons for the invasion; the first one was to protect the
American lives in the island after military cup and a massive killing of people, and the second one was
the fact of the Granada relations with Cuba and possible spread of communism. Even that this
invasion had a huge impact in the way that the American army operates and it prevented the extent of
communist s governments in the western hemisphere; this invasion is not popular for the American
population, the average American citizen is not interested in Grenada invasion most of them tend to
confuse it with others invasions or just did not remember anything about it, only a PHD in history

Procedural Rhetoric
Procedural Rhetoric and Video Games
Kyle
University Affiliation
5th June 2018
When one is playing a video game, they are never focused on the composition of the game but on the
content. Procedural rhetoric concept explains how people learn through the composition of rules and
processes. It argues that games can be used to make a strong claim on how the world works. This is
not done through the conventional means of words or visuals but through some processes and models.
It further argues that video games have a unique persuasive power that goes beyond other forms of
computational persuasion. Not only can video games support existing social and cultural positions, but
they can also disrupt and change those positions, leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, the growing culture of societal impatience is like an addiction, it makes people crave
more and more, and they want it now and right now. Ian Bogost article The Rhetoric of video games
describes a situation where players unknowingly face the dilemma of wanting more and more. The
argument is that for instance, if someone wants a bigger house, meaning an increase in mortgage, it
has to be complemented by buying more other goods to fill the extra space hence a vicious cycle
(Bogost, 2008). The same analogy is used by business models of freemium games to complement
procedural rhetoric to foster an impatient society. Freemium models business offers certain aspects of
the games free, while other parts have to be paid for. When a player engages in a freemium game, it
will reach a point that the player cannot move to the next process before purchasing the whole game.
Additionally, the players would use every other means necessary to achieve their goals. Some of these
means are not right and thus would bring along rhetorical

All Fur Motif
Written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, All Fur is essentially a tale about a young woman s efforts to
escape her incestuous father. Of the many seemingly impossible tasks the girl demands her father to
accomplish, obtaining a cloak made from a thousand animal furs appears to be the most unlikely.
However, the king is able to present his daughter with this cloak, thereby creating the motif of
disguise. Originally a means for escaping her wicked father, the fur cloak becomes a means for All Fur
to escape her identity, effectively representing a chosen buffer between herself and the sexual desires
of men. This hideous, repulsive disguise ironically leads All Fur to achieving the attractive state of
being free from the patriarchy.

She is no longer a beautiful girl with dresses and jewels to match. Instead, the princess is referred to as
furry creature (Grimm 48). All Fur has declined in status once again by earning the title of creature.
The word has a simple definition: an animal, distinct from a human being. All Fur has descended from
otherworldly princess to a repulsive human to a being separated from humans altogether. Her furry
appearance coupled with her new nickname create an identity of invisibility, an identity that ensures
she will never be noticed by a man in any sexual manner.
All Fur s attendance at the first ball was widely noticed and appreciated due to the loss of her disguise.
Immediately after removing her fur cloak, All Fur is described by the king as nothing less than a royal
princess (Grimm 48). Recognizing the effects of her true identity, All Fur disappears in order to
assume her safe, invisible identity. She runs back to her tiny closet and undresses quickly, both words
signifying a certain amount of haste and desperation to return to being an unnoticeable furry

Kingdom Of God Devine Borges Research Paper
Luciane Borges Engaging in the New Testament
The Kingdom of God The Kingdom of God is unlike any Kingdom of which the World has ever
known, and that s because it s not a wordly Kingdom. The Kingdom of God there will be no end.
Entry into the Kingdom of God is not dependent on one s status, position, one s riches or lack therof.
Luke, along with other gospel writers, points out that One must come to Jesus with an attitude of
uncompromised surrender, absolute dependency, and childlike trust, these are traits of those who have
entered the Kingdom of God. We must be willing to give up everything, if need be; for watever we
would not want to give up would be something that,in a sense, not only competes with Jesus but, in

Urinary Tract Function
Marilyn Nelson, RN, RHIA, works as the nurse manager at the Western States University Hospital.
She is in charge of managing PI activities in the clinics. Marilyn and her colleagues began
benchmarking by comparing the outcomes of the clinic s patients with published information on the
outcomes of other organizations and with clinical trends. They recognized that their organization was
treating a significantly higher amount of urinary tract infections, UTIs, compared to similar
organizations. This information resulted in the formation of a PI team. The team discovered how
complex the process is to evaluate urinary tract function. Since Western States University is a teaching
medical center, a number of caregivers may be involved in any one patient s care. There s the
attending physician, the nurses and medical assistants, house staff, and technicians. This makes it
difficult to determine where, when, and by whom the patient s urinalysis was preformed and could
take any one of a number of paths in the organization. Flow charts were developed by Marilyn and her
colleagues to chart the various care paths of the UTIs. Data was collected on the outcomes of each
path to determine whether they could identify the organizations true ... Show more content on

original container or if they used an aliquot container to perform the Multistix. This change would also
affect the data in table 10.2 because there may have been fewer incidences of UTIs in the clinics that

Panselectionism Vs Pluralism
I am reminded of learning that when air rushes out of a flat tire, it isn t being squeezed out, it is merely
not being completely contained and the kinetics of matter in the gas phase are sufficient to allow the
tire to deflate to equilibrium with the atmosphere. At first this seemed like a linguistic matter and
mostly irrelevant. For most people it is a completely irrelevant nuance, but not for physicists and
chemists who are using the principles of effusion to separate isotopes of radioactive uranium.
Similarly, while a discussion regarding the difference between panselectionism and pluralism will
sedate most readers into a state of drooling submission, the critique issued by Gould and Lewontin
should be considered carefully by evolutionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several alternatives to panselectionism are presented and are generally all a variation on the neutral
theory of molecular evolution (printing should pend inquiry regarding the lack of credit to Motoo
Kimura for development of said theory). This hypothesis proposes that random genetic drift plays a
dominant role in genetic evolution with selection playing a minor supporting role. In the section titled
Telling Stories, the authors criticize scientists who ignore and/or marginalize the more likely
explanation of neutral theory in favor of the archaic approach of justifying every identifiable
characteristic of an organism as beneficial and inventing an often completely untestable hypothesis for
its utility. I heartily agree with this objection I have long felt that the field of evolutionary biology is
weakened every time the phrase over millions of years is uttered (and it is uttered far beyond the point
of cliché), and every time a biologist duplicitously represents that selection happens without values
and judgment (of course), and then proceeds to describe the various features in terms of survival value
and utility. As the authors point out, the mere existence of a good fit between organism and
environment is insufficient evidence for inferring the action of natural selection (593). Finally, the
authors invoke Darwin himself in order to remind readers that He was patently pluralist and bristled at
being portrayed as a panselectionist although as Gould and Lewontin note, we do not now regard all
of Darwin s subsidiary mechanisms as significant or even valid

How Did Defoe Contribute To The Spread Of English Trade
English trade, according to Defoe, was so prosperous due to England having the greatest exportation
of the growth and product of their land and the manufacturing, and labor of the English people.
England also had the greatest importation and consumption of other countries growth, product, and
manufactures. Tradesman were considered mean in other parts of the world, but, according to Defoe,
the English tradesman were not always mean people but were of the stoutest and best of men. Trade
contributed to England s wealth because of how much money and resources were gained from the
spring of English trade. Trade clothed, paid, fed, furnished, etc. the Army and Navy. Trade also
contributed to England by paying taxes, supplying loans, and operating banks and companies. English
trade contributed to the wealth of England in times of war because it paid the cost of public interest.
Defoe claimed that trade was the unexhausted fund of all funds, in which the wealth of England
depended on. Trade contributed to the well being of Englishmen because trade gave Englishmen the
opportunity to become wealthy and powerful. When Englishmen became rich and powerful it opened
up opportunities and possibilities to the Englishmen and his family by allowing them to feed, clothe,

Old Alejandr The Window Of The Picture Frame Inside The...
As far back as Alejandra Franco can remember, the frames hanging in the hallway of her family s
Coachella Valley home were always empty. The unfilled wall décor did not represent a home devoid
of memories or a showcase for an unorthodox interior decorating theme. Instead, they were an
intentional symbol of an unspoken expectation of the future for Alejandra and her three younger
siblings.
With only a grade school education, Ana and Marcelino Franco came to America penniless and told
their kids that their only job was to obtain an education because it is the key to your future.
In 2000, they put their mantra into action almost immediately by enrolling three year old Alejandra in
the Head Start Program administered by the Riverside County Office of Education within the
Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD). After two years of preschool, Alejandra received
a completion certificate that was immediately hung with pride in a picture frame inside the Franco
family home.
Jim Greene, a veteran educator who was the Director of Children and Family Services for CVUSD,
had suggested a tip to parents who wanted to establish education as a priority in their families that
they could visually and nonverbally reinforce the importance of education simply by hanging empty
picture frames in their homes to symbolize the expectation of forthcoming diplomas from junior high,
high school, and college. As each of their children would reach graduation milestones, the framed
diplomas

Summary Of Malcolm X Learning To Read

from a criminal on the streets into a world admired speaker for African American civil rights. And by
doing so, Malcolm s writing in this piece is a transition of his life as the complexity of his writing
transitions from everyday, easy to read vocabulary into convoluted expressions. The beauty of his
writing seems as a timeline of his life as it allows the readers to follow Malcolm X through the overall
structure of his piece and the choice of words. The choice of vocabulary affects how Malcolm X is

Sex Offender Registry Research Paper
28% of sexual abuse cases are committed by strangers (Perpetrators of Sexual Violence:Statistics). A
list that could help eliminate that statistic is the national sex offender registry. These registries are a
very controversial topic. Many people feel that the original purpose of this registry has been lost
throughout the years. People argue that these registries are too long and that offenders are
unnecessarily put on the registry. However, sex offender registries should not be abolished because
they provide punishment, awareness and protection, and they serve as a learning tool. Registries
should be kept because they provide punishment to offenders. For the most part, when being added to
the registry, sex offenders have to give their address. These addresses can not be more than so many
feet away from an area where children could be present. In some places you can not live more than
500 ft away from an area.() The registry also serves as punishment to offenders because of the person
registering has children, they cannot get any type of custody of their kids(). The most severe
punishment of this registry is how it affects the offenders ability to get a job. If an offender applies for

Introduction. Photosynthesis Is A Vital Process For The
Introduction Photosynthesis is a vital process for the survival of all life on Earth. The byproduct of
photosynthesis, oxygen, profoundly contributes to the formation of the protective ozone layer
(Johnson, 2016). In addition to that, photosynthesis controls 99% of the Earth s ecosystem for every
organism requires energy to fulfill their metabolism ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Besides
providing essential energy and oxygen for living organisms, photosynthesis also plays an important
role in the planet s environment by decreasing the atmospheric carbon dioxide (Singhal, Renger,

the initial light dependent reaction in the thylakoid membrane, capturing solar energy and producing
ATP and NADPH; and the consequential Calvin Cycle in the stroma, using ATP and NADPH to make

that doing the right thing and good will are motivating factors in the ethical decision making process.
His theory is an example of deontological theory but with several weaknesses as well as strengths. I
believe that lying is wrong just like Kant but I don t agree that lying for the right reasons makes you a
bad person. Kant s theory is an example of a deontological moral theory. According to these theories,
the rightness or wrongness of actions does not depend on their consequences but on whether they
fulfill our duty. Kant believed that there was a supreme principle of morality, and he referred to it as
The Categorical Imperative (CSUS, 2012). A great example of Categorical Imperative would be Don t
lie even though you might be lying to benefit the other person it doesn t matter you shouldn t lie
because it s the wrong thing to do. Kant believed that in order to act in a morally correct manner
everyone should act from duty. He also believed that it wasn t the consequences of a person s actions,
but their motivations that were important, such as lying to achieve a greater

Exposure therapy is exposing the patient to the phobic stimulus. For example, if one has a phobia of
dogs, then the therapist will slowly expose them repeatedly to a dog. This type of therapy is
considered the best treatment for specific phobia. There are some other treatments to help, though.
Another type of therapy proven to help specific phobia is cognitive behavioral therapy. In this type of
therapy, a patient would be exposed to an object, but the main objective is to create a different mind
set in the future about the object and new ways to cope when around the phobic stimulus. Along with
a type of therapy, a doctor may prescribe medications to be taken with the therapy sessions. These
medications are meant to help the body and the mind to relax and stay calm. Medications can also be
prescribed to help treat anxiety for situational phobias and to be used when the patient needs it. Many
doctors prescribe medications that are either betablockers or sedation drugs ( Specific Phobias ).
Betablockers are used to help treat the physical effects of phobias such as keeping the heartbeat
steady. Benzodiazepines, such as Ativan, are types of drugs that help reduce anxiety by creating a
sedative effect on the patient taking them ( Specific Phobias ). By having regular therapy sessions and
taking medications, a person can eliminate a

Pearl Harbor Monologue
The next day, the 5th of November, at twelve, the delay would (morally speaking) expire; after that
time, Commander Farragut, faithful to his promise, was to turn the course to the southeast and
abandon forever the northern regions of the Pacific.
The frigate was then in 31 15 north latitude and 136 42 east longitude. The coast of Japan still
remained less than two hundred miles to leeward. Night was approaching. They had just struck eight
bells; large clouds veiled the face of the moon, then in its first quarter. The sea undulated peaceably
under the stern of the vessel.
At that moment I was leaning forward on the starboard netting. Conseil, standing near me, was
looking straight before him. The crew, perched in the ratlines, examined the

Introduction Of Prenatal Care For Teenagers
Introduction to Prenatal Care for Teenagers Even though the teen pregnancy and birth rates have
dropped by one third over the past decade, teen pregnancy in the United States is a growing problem.
According to data by the National Center for Health Statistics and other official data, one in three girls
still become pregnant by the age of twenty. In the United States one million adolescent girls become
pregnant every year causing the U.S. to be the leader of the developed world in teen pregnancy. One in
four of these teen girls will have a second baby within twenty four months and in 2010, a survey
showed that only one in ten of these unwed mothers, ages fifteen to seventeen, received child support
from the father. As citizens of the United States this is a time when we all need to pull together and
help to change the future before it is too late. Many things can cause teen pregnancy but many things
can prevent it or at least slow it down such as sexual abuse, poor life circumstances, parents attitudes,
drugs and alcohol use, and exploitation by older men. Making good decisions and responsible choices
about sexual activity during the teenage years can have immediate and lasting implications for overall
health outcomes. How teenagers make decisions about relationships, abstaining or participating in sex,
and protecting themselves and others from sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy is influenced
by numerous factors. Parents, peers, the media, access to education and

Using Alternative Energy Sources in the United States
Using Alternative Energy Sources in the U.S. The United States has many directions to choose from in
the oncoming future of energy. Options for the world s energy future may include surprises, thanks to
innovative research under way around the world (LePoire 1). History has shown that surprises can
change generations . Since the mid 1900 s, experts have been conducting research on the way our
nation has been using energy. The United States have relied on other countries to gain knowledge with
their energy sources. China is one huge partner that helps them out a lot. They have experimented with
many different alternative energy sources and have given the U.S lots of helpful information for
improving our energy demands. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. may only import oil from The State Department. The State Department was created in 1789
and is the federal department in the United States that sets and maintains foreign policies. In 2008, the
U.S. imported about 4 million barrels of oil a day from countries labeled dangerous or unstable by the
State Department (Oil Dependence Strengthens US Enemies). The United States look up to China in
order to gain dependence and knowledge to improve the country. Looking into the future, America
really begins to fight for independence. Energy has developed and shaped the world in many ways. It
contains many problems that we have to live with. The United States choices are looking to change
different things. For instance, their main goals are to change national and the global environment, and
the national defense. The U.S. has developed into alternative energy sources to decrease pollution and
make it easier to develop and transport goods. For example, their goal is to increase food production,
decrease dependence on fossil fuels, protect lives and the environment, and provide science based
solutions to developing markets across the globe (Kullman 1). Fossil fuels have been part of
production for a long time. Fossil Fuels are mined or pumped from geological reservoirs where they
have been stored for long periods of time (Fossil Fuels). Many countries have relied on fossil fuels for

Invention Of Murder
The Invention of Murder explores murders that spanned from the early 1800s all the way up until the
Jack the Ripper murders. Each chapter has a focus that builds with each subsequent chapter. The first
chapter that discusses an element unique to the time was called Trial by Newspaper, and it discussed
the growing interest of the public in the murders. Newspapers began to print all the details about the
murder, the investigation, the trial, and the execution. The public became obsessed with reading the
crime stories in the paper. Later Flanders begins to discuss the growth of Scotland Yard. After many
crimes were plagued with poor communication, the need for a countrywide detective force grew
which was the beginnings of Scotland Yard. The

The Future Of Electric Cars Essay
Electric cars are becoming very popular in today s world and are becoming more main stream. One
reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the
majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that
would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also
creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and
pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are
going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into
the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our
global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first
electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor
or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A
Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And
roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric
carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland built another small electric car with
his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor named Thomas

Analysis Of Legally Blonde
In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine
icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle
never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities
and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence.
As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if
she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can
attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive
depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film.
Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and
flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm,
beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained,
especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about
being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly
despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart
are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit
to patriarchal notion of submissiveness.
One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not
make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s
fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take
advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see
this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon
with half loop top stitching on the hem?. Why yes, it s one of a kind, the retailer replied. Elle uses her
fashion knowledge and wittily replies It s impossible to use a half loop topstitch on low viscosity
rayon.

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mesopotamia

Part I: Compare and Contrast Mesopotamian and Egyptian Cultures The two most significant
civilizations in ancient history are Mesopotamia and Egypt, They both developed environmental,
political, religious and social patterns as well as architecture and art. Although they had a lot of things
in common, they were also different in a lot of ways. Mesopotamia and Egypt were using river to
develop their own agriculture systems. Mesopotamia encompasses the land between the Tigris and
Euphrates rivers, while Egypt is settled along the Nile River. In Mesopotamia, the weather was not as
well as Egypt did. It was flooding frequently and unpredictably. Furthermore, it was a place that
lacked of natural barriers and limited natural resources. In order to solve the problems, Sumerians dug
irrigation ditches, built city walls and traded with other people in order to get enough natural
resources. In Egypt, the flooding of the Nile was predictable and also helped to renew the farmlands.
Egyptians stayed close to the river because it provided enough natural resources which were good for
growing crops such as wheat, flax and papyrus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their kings lived along the river. In Mesopotamia, each city had its own politics. Moreover, temple
priests had the same power and honor as the kings did at the very beginning. Later on, kings ruled
over cities. The first empire in the ancient world was Sargon of Akkad, who was Akkaddians. His
name represents the legitimate king. In Egypt, it was a centralized government which ruled by only
one pharaoh who was seen as a god at one time. The first pharaoh in Egypt was king Narmer, who

ZZZZ Best s Story
ZZZZ Best, Inc.
The start of ZZZZ Best:
ZZZZ Best started as a carpet cleaning company. Barry Minkow founded ZZZZ Best in his parents
garage in 1982 when he was only sixteen years old. Due to high competition in the industry, low enter
barriers, and bad internal control, this young entrepreneur started to have cash flow problems, and a
shortage of working capital.
Pressure Leads to Fraud:
Under financial pressure, Minkow started to commit fraud. He forged credit card applications, staged
theft, used bogus financial statements, and used his networking skills to entice wealthy investors. The
most serious fraud he made was inflating the value of the company s insurance restoration contracts
(Knapp, 2006).

2. Opportunity:
The greatest opportunity for Minkow to commit fraud was ZZZZ Best s lack of financial supervision.
Lack of internal control facilitated manipulation of company s assets and transactions. It gave the CFO
the opportunity to falsify the documents and to create fictitious transactions. These transactions
created formidable revenues on the company s books and made it easy to borrow money from banks.
The weak external audit was the other opportunity that allowed Minkow to commit fraud. The auditor
was not familiar with the company and its related parties. In addition, the auditors placed too much
trust in management produced documents and failed to verify key transactions. These two important
reasons gave Minkow an opportunity to commit fraud.
3. Rationalization:
Minkow words, I started with the best of intentions, really I can say that, show that he started lying
because it was an easy way to start and maintain his business. However, he could not stop after he
borrowed a lot of money, and was forced to create bigger lies to cover the small ones. Minkow s
rationalizing behavior made it easy for him to continue lying in order to support the lifestyle he had
become accustomed to and to keep his fraudulent company afloat.
4. Individual s Capability:
Personal charm, conviction, and good organizational skills helped Minkow to get through many
problems during the fraud period. In particular, he was convincing

Emily Dickinson s Impact On American Poetry
Emily Dickinson is one of the most famous poets that has ever lived, next to Shakespeare and Edgar
Allan Poe. Interestingly, Dickinson published less than ten poems before she died. Although
Dickinson never saw any success in her lifetime, she still made a huge impact on American poetry
today. Emily and Edward Dickinson gave birth to Emily Dickinson on December 10, 1830 (Emily
Dickinson s Bio). She was an exceptionally well educated for a woman at the time and attended
Amherst Academy for seven years. Even though Dickinson attended the seminary, she did not join the

Argumentative Essay Buy Nothing Day
Buy Nothing Day The first ever Buy Nothing Day was held in Canada on 1992. Buy Nothing Day was
organized as a day where no goods would be purchased, and as a result of this boycott of goods it
would raise awareness of the ethical and environmental implications of overconsumption. This is a
great and innovative idea that gives publicity to a neglected issue, which is the implications of
overconsumption. Nowadays people do not realize how much damage overconsumption actually does
to our world. They fail to realize that their brand new Nike sneakers were made by child labor in a
crammed sweatshop somewhere in Asia. They fail to realize how much pollution was released into the
environment from mass production in factories, so that they could ... Show more content on

The End Of The Cold War
The end of the Cold War marks more than just the end of the arms race, between the Soviet Union and
the United States, it also marks the weakening of communism. Communism, the greatest enemy to the
west during the Cold War had to be put down at any cost, this meant supporting militaristic
dictatorships that were against communism. The weakening of communism, however, ignited Global
Democratic Revolutions in which the people sought to gain the power back from the government.
These revolutions were mostly centered on the year 1989, and demonstrated the will of the people to
stop the oppression of these dictators or communist parties. The Philippines were no different,
independent organizations such as JAJA and NAMFREL rallied against the militaristic dictatorship of
Ferdinand Marcos. Additionally, the intervention of the church proved to be a powerful uniting tool
for the revolution, in a catholic predominant society. Women played no small role, Corazon Aquino
challenged Marcos politically, and many were involved in public rallies. As a result, the Philippines
peacefully defeated the oppressive rule of Marcos and entered a state of Democratic stability. To bring
about the revolution, it took the combines effort of the Aquino family, individual organizations, the
church, and individual citizens. In 1983 an exiled senator Benigno Aquino returned to the Philippines
in order to oppose Marcos. Sadly, Padriac Kenney wrote that Aquino was assassinated as he stepped

Nurturing Collaborative Culture
Nurturing a Culture of Collaboration through Effective Leadership
As shifts in education move towards authentic design based learning tasks that engage students
academically and intellectually, it is increasingly difficult for teachers to teach in isolation. The job of
a teacher has become increasingly complex (Fullan, 2008; Kohm Nance, 2009; Pugach, Johnson,
Drame Williamson, 2012; Thousand, Villa, Nevin, 2006). As a new administrator, it is the author s
responsibility to provide opportunities for optimal teaching and learning for students and staff. Fullan
(2008) states an administrator s greatest contribution to student learning, albeit indirectly, is the
collaborative cultures they create. Lu, Jiang, Yu Li (2015) posit administrators should nurture a
collaborative environment for teachers above all else. The unrelated efforts of even the most amazing
teachers will not be enough to meet the challenge of meeting the needs of all students (Pugach, et al.,
2012). Fullan Quinn emphatically state, Only the purposely collaborative will survive! (2016, p. 74).
Collaborative cultures promote professional growth of all staff, evolve over time, and require
administration to anticipate possible opportunities to foster a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many individuals crave and feel the need to be loved by others so they go looking for it whether it be
from spouse, relative, or friend ultimately everybody wants love. Love can be the most beautiful thing
in the world but love can also make one do crazy things. In Toni Morrison s Beloved, many different
love filled relationships are presented. There are family relationships between siblings, and
relationships between mother and children. There are relationships between adults in various sorts.
The relationships Sethe had with her children is crazy at first glance, and still then some after. Sethe
being a slave did not want to see her children who she loved go through what she herself had to do.
Sethe did not want her children to have their animal characteristics, so when the bounty hunter came
looking for Sethe and her children the love she had for them forced Sethe to do unthinkable things to
her children. Sethe attempted to murder all of her children to avoid them being placed back into
slavery. In her attempt only one actually died which was her first born Daughter Beloved. Though
Sethe tried to murder each of her children Toni shows that Sethe was very remorseful and that could
not properly function after the death of beloved. Sethe could not feed baby Denver correctly and even
got into a fight with Baby Suggs because she fed Denver with Beloved blood still on her. Sethe even
went as far as sleeping with the Headstone engraver to get a tombstone for her child. Sethe deeply felt
death was better than slavery which is why even though she loved her children she crazily attempted
to murder them. Similar to the theme of love unity is also a major theme in

Cytokines And Antibodies-Protein Synthesis

the release of nuclear antigens. These stimuli begin a reaction that leads to distrupting to other cells in

In individuals with lupus, both B cells and T cells become overactive. The two main consequences of
this increased activity are the production of antibodies that recognize and destroy the body s own cells

Analysis Of The Log From The Sea Of Cortez
Enduring Perspectives
By studying the history of Native Americans, we can understand some of their characteristics,
qualities, and perspectives regarding America s landscape. Many of these still persist today in either
the original or a mutated form. The Native American quality of living unsustainably persists today in
various forms because it is difficult to notice an unsustainable lifestyle. John Steinbeck, Barry Lopez,
and Scott Momaday in The Log From the Sea of Cortez, The American Geographies, and The Way to
Rainy Mountain describe this effect.
Today, it is easy to look back and see that Native Americans, including the Micmac, lived
unsustainable lifestyles. The Micmac s economy revolved around trading small animals (e.g. beavers).
Their desire for European goods provided an incentive to deplete the animal population (Merchant
13). A problem with this lifestyle is that it is difficult to know that the animal s population is being
depleted until it is too late.
The Native Americans of the Great Plains centered their economy on the buffalo. The Native
Americans used difficult techniques (e.g. tricking them to fall off cliffs) to catch the buffalo, which
was unsustainable considering how important the Buffalos were for them (Merchant 16). When the
horse arrived the Native Americans became more efficient hunters. However, their lives became less
sustainable because they became dependent on the horse and buffalo population. Again, this is a
problem because it is difficult

  • 3. Enron Was The Largest Bankruptcy Of America Essay Enron had the largest bankruptcy in America s history and it happened in less than a year because of scandals and manipulation Enron displayed with California s energy supply. A few years ago, Enron was the world s 7th largest corporation, valued at 70 billion dollars. At that time, Enron s business model was full of energy and power. Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling had raised Enron to stand on a culture of greed, lies, and fraud, coupled with an unregulated accounting system, which caused Enron to go down. Lies were being told by top management to the government, its employees and investors. There was a rise in Enron s share price because of pyramid scheme; their strategy consisted of claiming so much money to easily get away with their tricky ways. They deceived their investors so they could keep investing their money in the company. Kenneth Lay, former Chairman and CEO, and Jeff Skilling who was also a CEO and COO of Enron, had the major part in Enron when it collapsed and went bankrupt. Because of deregulations Ken Lay enter Enron in 1985 through a merger a vast network of natural gas and pipeline. Later, Enron grew into an energy trading company which was worth $68 billion in 2000. Lays family was poor, which made him ambitious to earn wealth regardless of the path he takes, hence, unethical professionalism at Enron. Enron took advantage of his decision to let gas prices float on the market. Rich Kinde found out about Enron s oil scandal in 1987 by the misappropriation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Second Treatise Of Government In the Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains human beings right of private property as a natural, enforceable right that men are granted with in the state of Nature as part of his larger justification of the replacement of the state of Nature by civil governments. The basis of Locke s interpretation of such right comes from God s ownership of what God creates, including both human beings and worldly resources. While human beings ownerships of their bodies are granted directly through God, Locke laid out 3 main conditions to be sufficed in order to justify private appropriations of worldly resources. This paper will examine Locke s premises regarding the state of Nature and his explanations of these conditions, compare them with Rousseau s version of requirements for private holdings in The Social Contract, and at the same time discuss whether each condition for private appropriation is sufficient in his effort of justifying unlimited properties. To begin with, Locke believes that at the state of nature, human beings are given the right of properties, and private appropriations can occur as long as they fulfill three main criteria. Such assumption allows Locke to discuss private properties without the interference of other parties, including civil governments. According to Locke, human beings and their private properties are protected by nature as God s will to expect human beings to thrive and to develop, also driven by human beings natural rights of living and ... • 5. The Invasion of Grenada The invasion of Grenada also know as Operation Urgent Fury was a U.S invasion to the Grenada Island in 1983 that Overthrew the communist government in favor of a pro Western one in a period of less than two months. On October 13, President Reagan was made aware of possible trouble in Granada. Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard had removed Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and recognized military rule. Six days later, Bishop was murdered. Bishop was a socialist and had bonds with Cuba; he spent his time making Grenada wholly socialist and encouraged development in the private sector to make the island a current traveler destination. With this in mind president Reagan was highly concerned. The president had two main reasons for the invasion; the first one was to protect the American lives in the island after military cup and a massive killing of people, and the second one was the fact of the Granada relations with Cuba and possible spread of communism. Even that this invasion had a huge impact in the way that the American army operates and it prevented the extent of communist s governments in the western hemisphere; this invasion is not popular for the American population, the average American citizen is not interested in Grenada invasion most of them tend to confuse it with others invasions or just did not remember anything about it, only a PHD in history knew about the theme and even if the other interviewed had an idea about the operation, they had to make sure on the ... • 6. Procedural Rhetoric Procedural Rhetoric and Video Games Kyle University Affiliation 5th June 2018 When one is playing a video game, they are never focused on the composition of the game but on the content. Procedural rhetoric concept explains how people learn through the composition of rules and processes. It argues that games can be used to make a strong claim on how the world works. This is not done through the conventional means of words or visuals but through some processes and models. It further argues that video games have a unique persuasive power that goes beyond other forms of computational persuasion. Not only can video games support existing social and cultural positions, but they can also disrupt and change those positions, leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the growing culture of societal impatience is like an addiction, it makes people crave more and more, and they want it now and right now. Ian Bogost article The Rhetoric of video games describes a situation where players unknowingly face the dilemma of wanting more and more. The argument is that for instance, if someone wants a bigger house, meaning an increase in mortgage, it has to be complemented by buying more other goods to fill the extra space hence a vicious cycle (Bogost, 2008). The same analogy is used by business models of freemium games to complement procedural rhetoric to foster an impatient society. Freemium models business offers certain aspects of the games free, while other parts have to be paid for. When a player engages in a freemium game, it will reach a point that the player cannot move to the next process before purchasing the whole game. Additionally, the players would use every other means necessary to achieve their goals. Some of these means are not right and thus would bring along rhetorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. All Fur Motif Written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, All Fur is essentially a tale about a young woman s efforts to escape her incestuous father. Of the many seemingly impossible tasks the girl demands her father to accomplish, obtaining a cloak made from a thousand animal furs appears to be the most unlikely. However, the king is able to present his daughter with this cloak, thereby creating the motif of disguise. Originally a means for escaping her wicked father, the fur cloak becomes a means for All Fur to escape her identity, effectively representing a chosen buffer between herself and the sexual desires of men. This hideous, repulsive disguise ironically leads All Fur to achieving the attractive state of being free from the patriarchy. Prior to receiving the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is no longer a beautiful girl with dresses and jewels to match. Instead, the princess is referred to as furry creature (Grimm 48). All Fur has declined in status once again by earning the title of creature. The word has a simple definition: an animal, distinct from a human being. All Fur has descended from otherworldly princess to a repulsive human to a being separated from humans altogether. Her furry appearance coupled with her new nickname create an identity of invisibility, an identity that ensures she will never be noticed by a man in any sexual manner. All Fur s attendance at the first ball was widely noticed and appreciated due to the loss of her disguise. Immediately after removing her fur cloak, All Fur is described by the king as nothing less than a royal princess (Grimm 48). Recognizing the effects of her true identity, All Fur disappears in order to assume her safe, invisible identity. She runs back to her tiny closet and undresses quickly, both words signifying a certain amount of haste and desperation to return to being an unnoticeable furry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kingdom Of God Devine Borges Research Paper Luciane Borges Engaging in the New Testament The Kingdom of God The Kingdom of God is unlike any Kingdom of which the World has ever known, and that s because it s not a wordly Kingdom. The Kingdom of God there will be no end. Entry into the Kingdom of God is not dependent on one s status, position, one s riches or lack therof. Luke, along with other gospel writers, points out that One must come to Jesus with an attitude of uncompromised surrender, absolute dependency, and childlike trust, these are traits of those who have entered the Kingdom of God. We must be willing to give up everything, if need be; for watever we would not want to give up would be something that,in a sense, not only competes with Jesus but, in fact, wins. ... • 9. Urinary Tract Function Marilyn Nelson, RN, RHIA, works as the nurse manager at the Western States University Hospital. She is in charge of managing PI activities in the clinics. Marilyn and her colleagues began benchmarking by comparing the outcomes of the clinic s patients with published information on the outcomes of other organizations and with clinical trends. They recognized that their organization was treating a significantly higher amount of urinary tract infections, UTIs, compared to similar organizations. This information resulted in the formation of a PI team. The team discovered how complex the process is to evaluate urinary tract function. Since Western States University is a teaching medical center, a number of caregivers may be involved in any one patient s care. There s the attending physician, the nurses and medical assistants, house staff, and technicians. This makes it difficult to determine where, when, and by whom the patient s urinalysis was preformed and could take any one of a number of paths in the organization. Flow charts were developed by Marilyn and her colleagues to chart the various care paths of the UTIs. Data was collected on the outcomes of each path to determine whether they could identify the organizations true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Panselectionism Vs Pluralism I am reminded of learning that when air rushes out of a flat tire, it isn t being squeezed out, it is merely not being completely contained and the kinetics of matter in the gas phase are sufficient to allow the tire to deflate to equilibrium with the atmosphere. At first this seemed like a linguistic matter and mostly irrelevant. For most people it is a completely irrelevant nuance, but not for physicists and chemists who are using the principles of effusion to separate isotopes of radioactive uranium. Similarly, while a discussion regarding the difference between panselectionism and pluralism will sedate most readers into a state of drooling submission, the critique issued by Gould and Lewontin should be considered carefully by evolutionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several alternatives to panselectionism are presented and are generally all a variation on the neutral theory of molecular evolution (printing should pend inquiry regarding the lack of credit to Motoo Kimura for development of said theory). This hypothesis proposes that random genetic drift plays a dominant role in genetic evolution with selection playing a minor supporting role. In the section titled Telling Stories, the authors criticize scientists who ignore and/or marginalize the more likely explanation of neutral theory in favor of the archaic approach of justifying every identifiable characteristic of an organism as beneficial and inventing an often completely untestable hypothesis for its utility. I heartily agree with this objection I have long felt that the field of evolutionary biology is weakened every time the phrase over millions of years is uttered (and it is uttered far beyond the point of cliché), and every time a biologist duplicitously represents that selection happens without values and judgment (of course), and then proceeds to describe the various features in terms of survival value and utility. As the authors point out, the mere existence of a good fit between organism and environment is insufficient evidence for inferring the action of natural selection (593). Finally, the authors invoke Darwin himself in order to remind readers that He was patently pluralist and bristled at being portrayed as a panselectionist although as Gould and Lewontin note, we do not now regard all of Darwin s subsidiary mechanisms as significant or even valid ... • 13. Old Alejandr The Window Of The Picture Frame Inside The... As far back as Alejandra Franco can remember, the frames hanging in the hallway of her family s Coachella Valley home were always empty. The unfilled wall décor did not represent a home devoid of memories or a showcase for an unorthodox interior decorating theme. Instead, they were an intentional symbol of an unspoken expectation of the future for Alejandra and her three younger siblings. With only a grade school education, Ana and Marcelino Franco came to America penniless and told their kids that their only job was to obtain an education because it is the key to your future. In 2000, they put their mantra into action almost immediately by enrolling three year old Alejandra in the Head Start Program administered by the Riverside County Office of Education within the Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD). After two years of preschool, Alejandra received a completion certificate that was immediately hung with pride in a picture frame inside the Franco family home. Jim Greene, a veteran educator who was the Director of Children and Family Services for CVUSD, had suggested a tip to parents who wanted to establish education as a priority in their families that they could visually and nonverbally reinforce the importance of education simply by hanging empty picture frames in their homes to symbolize the expectation of forthcoming diplomas from junior high, high school, and college. As each of their children would reach graduation milestones, the framed diplomas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A list that could help eliminate that statistic is the national sex offender registry. These registries are a very controversial topic. Many people feel that the original purpose of this registry has been lost throughout the years. People argue that these registries are too long and that offenders are unnecessarily put on the registry. However, sex offender registries should not be abolished because they provide punishment, awareness and protection, and they serve as a learning tool. Registries should be kept because they provide punishment to offenders. For the most part, when being added to the registry, sex offenders have to give their address. These addresses can not be more than so many feet away from an area where children could be present. One reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our global pollution. • 29. Analysis Of Legally Blonde In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence. As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film. Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm, beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained, especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit to patriarchal notion of submissiveness. One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon with half loop top stitching on the hem?. However, he could not stop after he borrowed a lot of money, and was forced to create bigger lies to cover the small ones. Minkow s rationalizing behavior made it easy for him to continue lying in order to support the lifestyle he had become accustomed to and to keep his fraudulent company afloat. 4. • 32. Emily Dickinson s Impact On American Poetry Emily Dickinson is one of the most famous poets that has ever lived, next to Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe. Interestingly, Dickinson published less than ten poems before she died. Although Dickinson never saw any success in her lifetime, she still made a huge impact on American poetry today. She was an exceptionally well educated for a woman at the time and attended Amherst Academy for seven years. Even though Dickinson attended the seminary, she did not join the Calvinist church, which her whole family was a part of. She struggled with the idea of original sin and just could not accept the severity of beliefs Her rejection of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Argumentative Essay Buy Nothing Day Buy Nothing Day The first ever Buy Nothing Day was held in Canada on 1992. Buy Nothing Day was organized as a day where no goods would be purchased, and as a result of this boycott of goods it would raise awareness of the ethical and environmental implications of overconsumption. This is a great and innovative idea that gives publicity to a neglected issue, which is the implications of overconsumption. Nowadays people do not realize how much damage overconsumption actually does to our world. They fail to realize that their brand new Nike sneakers were made by child labor in a crammed sweatshop somewhere in Asia. They fail to realize how much pollution was released into the environment from mass production in factories, so that they could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. The End Of The Cold War The end of the Cold War marks more than just the end of the arms race, between the Soviet Union and the United States, it also marks the weakening of communism. Communism, the greatest enemy to the west during the Cold War had to be put down at any cost, this meant supporting militaristic dictatorships that were against communism. The weakening of communism, however, ignited Global Democratic Revolutions in which the people sought to gain the power back from the government. These revolutions were mostly centered on the year 1989, and demonstrated the will of the people to stop the oppression of these dictators or communist parties. The Philippines were no different, independent organizations such as JAJA and NAMFREL rallied against the militaristic dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos. Additionally, the intervention of the church proved to be a powerful uniting tool for the revolution, in a catholic predominant society. Women played no small role, Corazon Aquino challenged Marcos politically, and many were involved in public rallies. As a result, the Philippines peacefully defeated the oppressive rule of Marcos and entered a state of Democratic stability. To bring about the revolution, it took the combines effort of the Aquino family, individual organizations, the church, and individual citizens. In 1983 an exiled senator Benigno Aquino returned to the Philippines in order to oppose Marcos. Sadly, Padriac Kenney wrote that Aquino was assassinated as he stepped off his plane ... • 36. Nurturing Collaborative Culture Nurturing a Culture of Collaboration through Effective Leadership As shifts in education move towards authentic design based learning tasks that engage students academically and intellectually, it is increasingly difficult for teachers to teach in isolation. The job of a teacher has become increasingly complex (Fullan, 2008; Kohm Nance, 2009; Pugach, Johnson, Drame Williamson, 2012; Thousand, Villa, Nevin, 2006). As a new administrator, it is the author s responsibility to provide opportunities for optimal teaching and learning for students and staff. Fullan (2008) states an administrator s greatest contribution to student learning, albeit indirectly, is the collaborative cultures they create. Lu, Jiang, Yu Li (2015) posit administrators should nurture a collaborative environment for teachers above all else. The unrelated efforts of even the most amazing teachers will not be enough to meet the challenge of meeting the needs of all students (Pugach, et al., 2012). Fullan Quinn emphatically state, Only the purposely collaborative will survive! (2016, p. 74). Collaborative cultures promote professional growth of all staff, evolve over time, and require administration to anticipate possible opportunities to foster a ... To answer this question, the author used three of the seven Professional Practice Competencies for School Leaders in Alberta (PPCSLA) as a lens to guide the reflection on the benefits and challenges of nurturing professional collaboration (Alberta Education, 2009). Many individuals crave and feel the need to be loved by others so they go looking for it whether it be from spouse, relative, or friend ultimately everybody wants love. Love can be the most beautiful thing in the world but love can also make one do crazy things. In Toni Morrison s Beloved, many different love filled relationships are presented. There are family relationships between siblings, and relationships between mother and children. There are relationships between adults in various sorts. The relationships Sethe had with her children is crazy at first glance, and still then some after. Sethe being a slave did not want to see her children who she loved go through what she herself had to do. Sethe did not want her children to have their animal characteristics, so when the bounty hunter came looking for Sethe and her children the love she had for them forced Sethe to do unthinkable things to her children. Sethe attempted to murder all of her children to avoid them being placed back into slavery. In her attempt only one actually died which was her first born Daughter Beloved. Though Sethe tried to murder each of her children Toni shows that Sethe was very remorseful and that could not properly function after the death of beloved. Sethe could not feed baby Denver correctly and even got into a fight with Baby Suggs because she fed Denver with Beloved blood still on her. Sethe even went as far as sleeping with the Headstone engraver to get a tombstone for her child. Sethe deeply felt death was better than slavery which is why even though she loved her children she crazily attempted to murder them. Similar to the theme of love unity is also a major theme in ... These stimuli begin a reaction that leads to distrupting to other cells in the body and exposure of their DNA, histones, and other proteins, particularly part of the cell nucleus. In individuals with lupus, both B cells and T cells become overactive. The two main consequences of this increased activity are the production of antibodies that recognize and destroy the body s own cells and inflammation and can lead to long term, irreversible scarring. Antigens are foreign bodies (such as bacteria and viruses) that stimulate the immune system to produce autoantibodies. • 39. Analysis Of The Log From The Sea Of Cortez Enduring Perspectives By studying the history of Native Americans, we can understand some of their characteristics, qualities, and perspectives regarding America s landscape. Many of these still persist today in either the original or a mutated form. The Native American quality of living unsustainably persists today in various forms because it is difficult to notice an unsustainable lifestyle. John Steinbeck, Barry Lopez, and Scott Momaday in The Log From the Sea of Cortez, The American Geographies, and The Way to Rainy Mountain describe this effect. Today, it is easy to look back and see that Native Americans, including the Micmac, lived unsustainable lifestyles. The Micmac s economy revolved around trading small animals (e.g. beavers). Their desire for European goods provided an incentive to deplete the animal population (Merchant 13). A problem with this lifestyle is that it is difficult to know that the animal s population is being depleted until it is too late. The Native Americans of the Great Plains centered their economy on the buffalo. The Native Americans used difficult techniques (e.g. tricking them to fall off cliffs) to catch the buffalo, which was unsustainable considering how important the Buffalos were for them (Merchant 16). When the horse arrived the Native Americans became more efficient hunters. However, their lives became less sustainable because they became dependent on the horse and buffalo population. Again, this is a problem because it is difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
