How Materialism Affect American Families
Materialism can affect every living person on the planet, but it is more common in rich or well built
up countries or nations it all started in the early 1900 s and started the boom of the industrial age of
materials and technology. And what had get created from the age of materialism is the disease of
Affluenza, which is a mental disorder that can have an effect on every person, no matter the age, race
or creed, it is a disease that should be looked at more carefully, instead of overlooking the problem.
The modern plague of materialism effects American families in a very bad way, which is over
consumption of buying non amenities, instead of needs, which include basic clothes, food, healthcare
and a mode of transportation. But the families just buy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IT breaks families apart because material objects can destroy everybody, mom, dad, brother, sister, it
can bring about divorces and pain and destroy childhood. The effects of materialism first came from
the early turn of the century because of new inventions, and the industrial revolution. So the effects of
materialism goes back many years, so it is a little hard to reverse the effects of materialism. Over
consumption is a harmful part of American society, Even though American comprise only five percent
of the world s population, in 1996 we used nearly a third of its resources and produced almost half of
its hazardous waste. Also The average North American consumes five times as much as an average
Mexican, 10 times as the Chinese, and 30 times as much as the people in India .( citied: Affluenza

technology that is out to the public, some of the toys and technology are cell phones, game systems,
and toys like cars, shoes, and designer clothes. But there are ways to combat the material strain on our

The Northridge Earthquake
Knowledge is the skill acquired by a person to have facts or information through education or
experience. To wonder is to be curious to know something. The meaning behind Morgan s quote is
that once someone learns something new, they want to investigate or know more.
Once we are told something we did not know, our curiosity tells us to do some research or to ask
questions in order to know more about the topic. I have been in this situation multiple times. When I
was first told about the Northridge Earthquake that happened a few years ago, I was shocked and I
was dying to know more. I had to do some research on my own and my knowledge about the
earthquake expanded. Not only did I know what happened, but I also knew how it happened, why it

Assasination Vacation Essay
When the topic comes to presidential assassins, most people will not use the word amusing and
assassins in the same sentence; however; Dan Danbom, a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News,
proved otherwise and stated that Vowell has succeeded in creating a humorous historical context by
writing I can confidently say that Sarah Vowel s Assassination Vacation is the most amusing book you
ll read this year about presidential assassinations (Danbom). Sarah Vowel s purpose of Assassination
Vacation is to allow readers to have a look at both sides of history to shed light on the assassins, to
reanimate moments lost to history, and to make her book more interesting by using her unique style of
writing; although she fails miserably by adding in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at both side of the assassination gives the reader the normal idea that everyone has the idea
that whatever the assassins had in mind were wrong and that assassination the president was a wrong
doing that could not be condoned as well as the side of the assassins; which looks into how they think
and the reasons they do it for.
Vowell was successful in terms of reanimating the moments that are lost to history by rummaging
around for historical artifacts that have survived, passed on, and been saved from the moments of the
assassination. Vowell traveled from Philadelphia to New York to examine the specimens of Booth and
Guiteau, where she asked the curator how the museum came into possession of Booth s remnants
(Vowell.94). Vowell then found out from Worden, the museum s director, that the Piece of the thorax
of John Wilkes Booth could not have came from the thorax after she performed an autopsy by herself
(Vowell 94). By saving this piece of Booth, it allows later examination to reexamine what part of body
part this actually is. Saving a piece of the body, such as the brain, of the assassin also allows later
testing to be able to find out something that couldn t have been tested out before. ...It was

Analysis Of Plato s Republic And Aristotle s Nicomachean...
Upon application for university, hearts are heavy with the uncertainty for the future. An overwhelming
hope to become the person we are meant to be. This journey, called university, provides the inverse; a
worldly creation where past and future are intertwined. A place for discovery. A place of reflection.
Leisure, sport and recreation are culpable in cultivating thyself in preparation for true reflection,
whose telos is knowledge of thyself. This paper will explore this notion of the journey to true
reflection through various historical and present day ideologies. Context will be provided via personal
experiences of each phase, as the yellow brick road, leading up to reflection. Only then, true
discoveries of thyself can be uncovered. Leisure, sport, and recreation provide the opportunity for
growth of mind and body. Both Plato s Republic and Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics conceptualize
this growth through games and sport. What is meant by growth? What is development in relation to
the self? Once sufficiently developed, leisure, sport, recreation become agents for one to experience
thyself in relation to others. Here, socio spatial boundaries become other dimensional and the self
becomes a collection of photos. What does it mean to be an individual? What identity does the
individual give to their community? Pat Power s notions or creative play, Luc Robene and Dominique
Bodin, among many philosophers, thoroughly explore this interconnectivity that distinguishes the

Being A Probation Officer
As we know, probation and parole officers play a major role in shaping an offenders perception of
reality as well as changing their behavior. The question that many will ask is is the role of the PO that
of a social worker or cop? In my opinion, probation and parole officers have a huge weight on their
shoulders due to the caseloads that they receive. Since the recent police brutality cases the mentality of
an officer needs to change with the times. I believe that officers should lean more towards being a
social worker/cop because they should be able to gain common ground with citizens while keeping
their best interest and public safety at heart. In short, officers have to play multiple roles depending
upon the situation and the stipulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that there will always be a contrast in some aspect of probation and parole especially when it
comes to balancing roles and styles of supervision. Many feel that the true professional finds a way of
integrating various role expectations, balancing them, and weighing the appropriateness of various
expressions of the roles. It is probable that the treatment surveillance dichotomy will remain forever.
(Latessa, 2015, p.211). To conclude, officers can directly impact the outcome of an offender on
probation or parole by getting involved more with providing assistance where the offender lacks the
resources to do so. For example, rather than referrals to certain programs, offenders who are
considered high risk can be given extensive counseling on drug and alcohol abuse which could help
them get the necessary attention they need. Another discretionary decision a PO can make in regards
to high risk offenders is counseling on marital and family relationships, educational goals, and
employment strategies. Although probation and parole are supervisions that are prescribed during
different phases of the correctional experience they are both about rehabilitation which is the intent
and aim for the PO assigned to a

does shortage of supply happens, especially when it comes to making wood beams and columns
(laminated Veneer Lumber, Glulam Laminated Beams, etc.)? Thankfully, we have not had to cross that
road yet. I think it that would be very hard to happen seeing as all of our wood is specifically ordered
for the job. One good thing with wood compared to steel is, if there was a shortage I could get faster
on site then steel. 2. Why building with wood over concrete or steel has changed the way we build

specifically needed in wood midrise? If yes, please specify. I think the maintenance is reciprocal to
steal or concrete. For example there is much more framing in wood framing then let s say concrete.
But concrete would need time to cure ect. 5. What is the risk of shrinkage in wood midrise, the type of
shrinkage and ways to prevent it? Most of the wood that we are getting is engineered. The beams and
other spans are just typical wood, they are engineered and charred to with stand fires, and are able to
expand and shrink with at ease with the building. 6. Is there restriction on live on dead load overall in
wood midrise? No, we would not of done this type of building if it did not provide the same strength
as concrete and steel. 7. What type of wood (Pine, other timber, etc.) mainly distributed or preferable

Comment On The Video Class
Comment on the Video Class He s Been to Turkey Introduction The video called He s been to Turkey
intend to introduce some ways of grammar teaching. From the video, we can infer that all the students

enough to say anything (Harmer, 2015, p.94). Students in the video have a little elementary
knowledge about English, such as the meaning of different countries, the easiest sentence structure or
order. So as a result, the students in the video belong to the beginners level. That is why the teacher

Harmer (2015) said that By shifting it around in a phrase or a sentence, we can also change emphasis
or meaning . The same word with different stress might be another word, even might had different
meaning. If students cannot pronounced the words correctly, there would be misunderstanding of the
word. That is why stress is an important point. The aim of the tense was to establish the use of the
Present Perfect with ever to talk about experiences (Gerngross,2006,p117). Tense determined the time
and date of the accidents, in this video we do not know the exact time. As a result, we could just tell
from the present perfect tense. Discussion The whole process of this method was controlled by the
teacher, he designed the whole procedure and the learning resources. Students have to follow the
teacher s arrangement and study upon the teacher s supervision. The presentation part is led by the
teacher. He shows the students about how the knowledge of the language works. The next one is the
practice part, students have a brief understanding of the language point, so the teacher will like the
students to practice about it. Maybe in various way such as teacher ask and students answer or pair
work or group work and so on. The last part is the production. After acquiring the main information,
students began to create new sentences. So according to the video, the high degree teacher controlled

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Strategy is well explained as the effective use of well laid out plans to achieve success. It is no less of
spectacle to attribute strategy to individual achievement, achievement from a company, a country or at
the very least a non financial institute to achieve strategic success.
Ford Motor Company has in recent times lost its market share to emerging Asian companies such as
Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan. As a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given that most companies at a maturity level face corporate level strategy issues, the author thinks
Ford s CEO Allan Mulally has proven to be a competent leader given the circumstances. The
uniqueness of the strategic issues at Ford are based on the market conditions. 1. Financial 2. Sales 3.
Product line 4. Competition
Given how inter related these issues are, the author decides to focus on the main underlying issues as
highlighted in the case study; that is financial and competition issues. Sales and narrow product line
are more on a business level as opposed to financial and competition which are more corporate in this
context.
Figure 1: Illustration of Ford strategic issues (sourced from Suleiman) 1. Financial
Weak balanced sheet poses a huge financial problem to Ford as it brushes with near insolvency in
2008 which could have seen the company file for bankruptcy. Drop in revenue means the company
has a small profitability and has to collateralize its asset to stay liquidated.
This is an issue for Ford because of the size of the company and the nature of its operations depends
largely to close fit financing. As it deals with thousands of suppliers with massive overhead
expenditure, Ford relies heavily on efficiencies to maintain a sustainable margin to keep its investors

Theme Of Supernatural In Things Fall Apart
In Thing s Fall Apart death is represented in one instance as a religous act. When Okwonkwo is
ordered to kill Ikemufuna it was nt simply because he wanted to. In reality he didn t want anything to
do with the death but it was a sacrifice ordered by the oracle. In Okwonkwo s efforts to never look
weak he particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna even though he was told not to. Death in the novel also
represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his dad. Through the beginning of
the text til when Ikemufuna is sacraficed no one seen that coming. Okwonkwo is a trader because not
only did he love the kid as his own, but Ikemufuna actually says to him My Father, they have killed
me! right before Okwonkwo finishes the job. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some that are listed in the text are Ani, Amadiora, Idemeli,Agbala, and Ogwugwu and they are
believed to be the source of the communities stability and peace. The gods aren t the only evidence of
supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain rituals
and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural.
In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like a
son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill his son
Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the god who
orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want Okwonkwo to
have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that comes down and
stops Abraham from killing Isaac.
In the novel Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo does not want to be weak like his father, so he is on a
jorney to have a better life. He did not want to folloow the path of his father he wished to show
everyone he is not weak as his father seemed to leave him. He is on a journey to live a better wealthier
life than his

Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis
In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing
social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat
poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known
for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug
use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a
particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven
society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose
ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society
remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other
poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as
homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential
poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of
the idealistic nuclear American society.
Bond 2
At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home
wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass
mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the
American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege
of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do
nothing but harm minorities much like himself. Ginsberg saw the best minds of [his] generation
destroyed by madness... demanding instantaneous lobotomy... (1 69). The harmful and destructive
ideology of the great American dream remains engraved in our society dating all the way back to The
Bill of Rights, 1789, No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property and Allen Ginsberg
strived to dismantle this falsely constructed ideology. Ginsberg uses his sexaulity as a prime

Neuromuscular Junctions
MUSCLE FIBERS AND EXERCISE:
Exercise leads to changes in muscle fiber size known as muscle hypertrophy, this increase in size is a
result of increasing muscle fiber diameter caused by exercise induced genes, such as peroxisome
proliferator activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (PGC 1α). (Ruas, White, Rao, Kleiner, Brannan,
Harrison; 2012). As per Balice Gordon, Breedlove, Bernstein Lichtman (1990) the Neuromuscular
junction size is coupled, to a certain degree, to muscle fiber size. In contrast to this, a study conducted
on aged rats showed increased muscle fiber size in the soleus muscle with exercise, but there was no
increase in Neuromuscular junction size. Thus, some of the exercise based changes of Neuromuscular
junctions cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These alterations in morphologic remodeling in the aged NMJ further results in more dispersed AChR,
with greater spatial uncoupling between ACh vesicle clusters and receptor clusters. As studied by
Gonzalez, de Cabo, Studenski, Ferrucci (2014), the morphological changes together with
physiological alterations results in a remodeling of the motor unit and in a decline of the number of
motor neurons, particularly the type II muscle fiber (fast and glycolytic muscle fibers). These changes
lead to excitation contraction uncoupling, and a loss of communication between the nervous and
muscular system, causing a decline in skeletal muscle strength and muscle

Examples Of Catalase Lab Report
Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is. We
had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first
we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going
on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a
combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by
the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were
being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing
if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase
reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our
experiments as we went on during our lab.
CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used apple, potato, and chicken liver to prove that not only beef liver contains catalase. The group
conducted three experiments: one contained potato and H2O2, another had apple and H2O2, and the
last had chicken liver and H2O2. We added 2mL of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to all three test tubes.
The bubbling effect proved that all three had catalase in them. We realized that the more the substance
bubbled the more catalase it contained, and that the less it bubbled, the less catalase there was. We
also rated the reactions by the speed of the reaction in seconds, like we learned in part

Essay on Ghost Story of the New Jersey Devil
The New Jersey Devil
The Legend of the Jersey Devil is the most prominent legend that is told to citizens of New Jersey; it
is mainly told to elementary school aged children. There are a variety of settings that the story has;
however, the most common location that is used when retelling the tale is Leeds Point, NJ, which is in
the Pine Barrens region of the state. This tale of the Jersey Devil recounts the existence of a
supernatural creature that is said to have terrorized the New Jersey Pine Barrens and surrounding areas
for the last 260 years. The teller of this version of the legend is a Caucasian female who is eighteen
years of age and attends the University of Maryland. She comes from a middle class family and

After a few months of being confined to the basement, the devil flapped its wings and flew out the
chimney, and the Shrouds family never saw it again. People s animals started to disappear, and they
blamed the devil for it. They said that it started to kill and eat the flocks. Some people even said that
the Jersey Devil would terrorize little children because it was jealous it could never be a normal child.
Ever since then, the devil has been spotted in different places in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, making
that same screaming noise.
There exist many different types of storylines about the New Jersey Devil. Despite these
discrepancies, most of the versions have the name Leeds involved. For example, in the version that I
collected, Mrs. Shrouds lived in Leeds Point; however, in other forms of this story, the woman s name
was Mrs. Leeds. Most tales of the New Jersey Devil involve this woman who had one too many
children and placed a cursed on her unborn child. This tale also ties into the study of magic since the
mother of the Jersey Devil cursed her unborn child, causing it to be born as the deformed creature that
it is known to be today. In some cases, as in the story described above, numerological superstition
plays a roll and the devil is the thirteenth child, while other versions maintain that the child was
actually the sixth or seventh to be born into the family. Another account of the origin of the

A Treatise On Toleration By Voltaire
François Marie Arouet or by his more common pen name, Voltaire, wrote the document A Treatise on
Toleration in the year 1763. He was a French philosophe during the Enlightenment and it is unclear
what his exact religion was. However, Voltaire advocated for religious tolerance, as he states, Yes,
without doubt; for are we not all children of the same father, and creatures of the same God? (Primary
Source 256). He is writing this document to convince people that treating someone like a second class
citizen, or wanting to murder someone because of their differing faith his wrong. During the time this
piece was written, Enlightenment (an intellectual movement advocating individual rather than
traditional thinking), was in full effect. The Scientific Revolution started prior to Voltaire, but the new
spark in thinking mathematically and scientifically leading to philosophes questioning social

that represents their freedom. Some of the key reasons that the right to bear arms is beneficial to the
community is that it allows for citizens to hunt and provide for their families, it allows for people to
protect themselves and others, and can keep it so that the government doesn t have uncontrollable
power. The amendment also allows for the people to be able to go and buys guns and ammo. The
amount of benefits to the community that the second amendment gives off is under estimated by
many, due to the news and publicity always being very negative towards guns and their uses. If the
news was to ever show guns in a good light making the public more knowledgeable about the
controversial Amendment the opinions of the people might shift gears a little into becoming more
supporting of the Second Amendment and the benefits that come with it. The Second Amendment that
was ratified 1791 as a part of the first 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights in the United States
Constitution it states that A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the
right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed , which says that the government

It was time for hospice. To completely understand the situation, you would have to understand, prior
to this event my husband and I had separated, for the safety of my son and me. He was taking high
doses of steroids to reduce swelling in his brain, which caused him to be aggressive towards our 2 year
old son and myself. We decided it was best for him to move back to St. Louis, MO where his large

Keith Cozart Social Issues
A. Why do you think this experience was a breakthrough moment for your particular social issue?
Consider the Diffusion of Innovations in your response, from the early adopters, to the majority that
shifted their support behind this issue. You might also reflect on the laggards that resisted it.
A. Chief Keef (real name Keith Cozart) is largely known as a rapper from the South Side of Chicago
who brought awareness through his music about the violence and murder going on in Chicago. Many
debate whether this awareness has increased or decreased the violence, and personally I believe it s a
mixture of both. In his well known hit I Don t Like he insults the police, women, and promotes gun
related violence and crime. Though this certainly doesn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music industry has a huge effect on popular culture and people of today. Rappers especially can
tell a story through their music, which is what Keith Cozart (Chief Keef) was hoping to bring
awareness to with his rapping about Chicago. Since his career has progressed many younger
generations have been informed of the violence and crime occurring there, and his most recent music
talks about the dangers of it and the need for change. For older audiences, Spike Lee also brought
awareness to the issue in his movie Chi Raq, a movie about a girlfriend of a Chicago gang leader who
persuades other frustrated women to abstain from sex until their men agree to end the senseless cycle
of violence. Most people today spend more time focusing on popular culture than they do on worldly
issues, so it is important to make music, television, and cinema a platform for important information.
Just as Walter Benjamin predicted, popular culture has become a democratizing agent of society . The
products produced in popular culture have a major influence in showing us how we should think, feel,
and act. Younger audiences are more influenced by Chief Keef considering that his music is
considered low art form . The lyrics he writes and has younger audiences listen too certainly draws
attention to older audiences for its negative messages and meaning. In the crisis of Chicago, any
attention is good attention. There s still so much work to do in order to get Chicago s homicide and
crime rates down. If a wider audience is turning in, hopefully more action will be taken before
thousands of other men die from senseless

Disadvantage of Texting

Disadvantages of Texting Texting on the phone while driving can be a very dangerous thing to do. As
someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from
driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others.
Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. According to
Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. A
National Safety Council fact sheet states drivers who use cell phones are four times more likely to be
in a crash. The Harvard center for Risk Analysis reports the annual cost ... Show more content on

Twin Stereotypes
Splitting Up is Never Easy For most people they have the idea of twins being two peas in a pod or
have a bond that makes them as if they were one. The stereotype is very accurate most twins dress,
talk, and look the same. However if you were to meet my sister and I you would never guess we are
twins. Lauren, my sister does not resemble me at all. We have different facial features, hair, and
personality. When we were very little my mom would dress us alike everyday even our pajamas were
the same. I can still remember our mom dressing us for the first day of school. The overalls were a
charcoal grey with our favorite little mouse with a pretty bright red bow in her hair. Along with our
clothes matching we also had to have our hair fixed into

Twin Brothers Of The Kray Brothers
Often, we hear tales of gangs and gangsters that rule cities owing to great influence over authoritative
figures. Most of these tales come to us from news about third world countries wrapped in turmoil and
chaos amidst lawlessness. Hence, to imagine a pair of twin brothers leading a gang to rule over
Eastern London during the 50s 60s era is difficult, to say the least. To say that the Kray Brothers were
the foremost perpetrators of organized crime in East London would be an understatement. The twins
were individually known as Ronald Ronnie Kray and Reginald Reggie Kray. The twins were born into
violence and under the influence of their grandfather, took up boxing. This was a common hobby for
young boys in East London. Sibling Rivalry spurred them on and the brothers experienced great
success, reportedly not losing a match until the age of 19. But alas, the call of a life of crime was
simply too attractive to repel hence off they went, robbing stores, hijacking vehicles and murdering
their enemies. In 1942, the brothers had a fight and Reggie had beaten Ronnie almost to death. Ronnie
suffered from schizophrenia at an early age and had to take pills to control his temper barring a
monstrous rage. London had fallen in to a state of future turmoil unbeknownst to them during the year
1933, the year of the twins birth. Their vice and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Challenges Faced By The World Today
CONCLUSION
Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous
revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking
industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three critical
factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is
undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and
practices. Fraud can be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a bank s
future. This must change for the good. The rapid pace with which the technology is changing, like the
recent explosion of cellular customers, is often entailed by necessary evils. An unstoppable tsunami is
engulfing banks with their employees and clients carrying their private electronic gadgets to work.
Similarly, applicants for BYOD has surged and simultaneously it accelerates the rate of security
threats, both ethically and technologically. Online banking proves to be the antithesis of all the
innovations of security professionals due to their identifiable features such as their mobility, richness
in data and susceptibility to theft.
Threat modelling and vulnerability assessment offers new insights that facilitates a more pro active
approach to security, provided organizations pay equal focus to the ever growing market of potential
threats. It should be acknowledged that

Essay on Thomas Herzog’s Private House in Regensburg
The Private House in Regensburg was built in 1979, which is Thomas Herzog s own home; one can
declare that he is the client and designer himself thus fulfilling his own needs or desires for the site.
The house demonstrates particular principles of energy efficiency, making it an early eco home. This
can be shown by the use of local materials, or taking advantage of the site for characteristics like
protection and aesthetics. Thomas Herzog was born in during World War 2 (1941), in Munich,
Germany. In 1965 he completed his diploma for architecture at the Technische Universität München
(University of München) and in 1973 he became Germany s youngest professor of architecture at the
age of thirty two. He is now known famously for his work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appearance loses the traditional house design and implements that it is an extruded form of a
triangle, linking to the hypotenuse of a triangle, reaching right down to the ground. It was designed to
appear as if the house is unwarranted (groundless) or the vice versa of it being forced up through the
ground. Energy principles were a relatively new idea in the 1970s where Herzog implemented the use
of the triangular shape of the house that is designed to collect free solar energy, which is later used to
heat the house. Herzog used environmental responsive architecture to integrate energy saving features
into the home. Also many architects would argue that the principles of creating a house like this uses
the principles of a Lean 2 shed , where it creates a D.I.Y aesthetics. Linking to the idea of
conservatories being around since Victorian times but was always an addition to the conventional
house . Herzog merged the two together by creating a two storey house with a conservatory attached,
except that both elements share the same roofline. Herzog makes regularity and flexibility another
architectural theme that is seen just as valuable to energy saving throughout the house. The plan of the
house is designed to distribute or allocate space proportionally, which is layered via an abstract grid.
Which can be combined in different ways either horizontally or vertically. The types of materials used

How Did Castles Change Throughout The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, castles were extremely important. Castles were either a peaceful home for
nobles, knights and their servants or a busy military command centre. Because castles were such
important features of the Middle Ages, it makes sense that they would last nearly the whole period of
time and beyond. The Middle Ages lasted from 476ce through to the renaissance, which lasted from
the 14th 17th century. Throughout the Middle Ages the styles of fighting and defence changed, which
also meant that the designs of castles changed to support the new techniques of war. Castles were
introduced after William the Conqueror introduced feudalism after winning the battle of the Hastings
in 1066ce. Feudalism was the social organization of Medieval

John Keats And The Romantic Period
BEAUY AND TRUTH AND THE GRECIAN URN
Dept. No: 15/PELA/031
John Keats is a romantic poet and he belongs to the Romantic Period. He was born in London and was
educated at a private school at Enfield, and at the age of fifteen he was apprenticed to a surgeon. He
lost interest in surgery, and the career of a poet became a bright possibility when he made the
acquaintance of Leigh Hunt, the famous Radical journalist and poet. When Keats was about seventeen
years old he became acquainted with Spencer, and this proved to be the turning point in his life. The
mannerism of Elizabethan immediately captivated him and he began to imitate him. Keats health was
already failing but the amount of poetry he wrote is marvellous, both in magnitude and in quality. ...

It was, as we say nowadays, objective; it was concrete; it moved not in a world of philosophic thought
and abstraction, but in a world of imaginative realizations. It was purely and truly poetic; and it turned
towards the drama as the form which offered the most complete fulfilment of its own nature. We shall
find no deeper, nor any more transparent, phrase for the contents of Keats ideal poetry than his own
familiar words: the principle of beauty in all things. (Keats and Shakespeare 75 Murry)
This phrase is rightly and usually remembered in the form in which Keats wrote it to Fanny Brawne
soon after the haemorrhage which told him about its inevitable end. If I should die, said I to myself, I
have left no immortal work behind me, nothing to make my friends proud of my memory, but I have
loved the principle of beauty in all things, and if I had time, I would have made myself remembered. It
seems almost a sacrilege to anatomize words so lovely and

Intertwinement Of Photography
My current work reflects how each photograph is a precious thing; the very fact we are here, now, and
able to take these photographs. If everything was random would we be here at all? Once we start to
calculate the chances of generating a photograph from random we reach some incomprehensibly large
numbers. This work looks at what would happen if everything worked at random, and the results
mirror this idea. Here is a randomly generate image using about eight colours based on the grey scale.
Maybe we could generate a something that is recognisable but the possibility of this happening is one
in many, many billions. So maybe we are random, maybe photography is just chance that we are here
to observe the universe, or maybe not. Perhaps there is a reason, and maybe we will discover this
through technological advancements.
From the largest cameras that we propel into space to study the universe to the cameras built in to our
mobile phones, technology is the key to this intertwinement of photography and day to day life, ...

We live in a world where there is nearly no aspect that has been left untouched by the hand of
photography. Think of anything and there is photography. We all carry cameras with us at nearly all
times of the day; as a society we are obsessed with sharing our own lives and what better way to do
this than through photography. The word photography means different things to different people. On
one hand we have the artistic practice that looks into the ideas of photography and studies how and
why it has become so powerful and intertwined with the world and then on the other, we have the
label of photography, something that has become a mindless process. Photography unlike drawing and
painting is instant, accurate and effortless. We no longer need to think, just press a button, and hey
presto, a near perfect representation of our

Essay about History of the Eartly Christian Church
Throughout the early centuries of the church s existence, the Roman government suppressed the
spread of Christianity. Many emperors did their absolute best to try to stop the Christian populace
from spreading with none succeeding (demonstrated by the fact that Christianity is still in existence
today). It was not until 322 A.D. when Constantine united all of Europe under his throne that
Christianity could be spread without threat of persecution. Under Constantine, Christianity, in terms of
numerically, thrived. Councils were held, doctrine developed, and great strides were taken in order to
have Christianity be one catholic church. However, in the next couple centuries, the church would
grow apart and rulers would fall resulting in mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eastern half of the empire believed that the center of the church should be located in
Constantinople with the emperor, but the western half believed that Rome should be the center of
church life. Rome believed that the church center should be located there because, according to the
bishops of Rome, Peter is claimed to have been the first bishop of Rome. Therefore, since Peter, who
was given the keys to the church by Jesus, was the first bishop of Rome, the Roman Bishop was over
the other bishops and was the head of the church at large. Under this truth, various bishops have risen
to power with eventually taking on the title of Pope.
The first Roman Bishop to claim direct Apostolic succession from Peter was
Damasus I. Damasus went to great lengths to attempt to convince the other churches and cities of this
so called truth but to no avail. However, his work was not in vain. The next bishop of Rome, Siricus,
held the same stance as Damasus; however, he took the desire for authority from the other cities
farther. Siricus claimed inherent authority without consideration of the
Scriptures. He believed that because he was Bishop of Rome, he was a direct descendant of Peter
(instead of simply having the same position as Peter), which, according to Siricus, gave him authority
over the rest of the church as Peter was supposedly given. In addition to Siricus belief in his authority,
he also was the first bishop to give himself the title of

Budget Definition
Not counting savings, I was able to come in under budget by $11.03. It was really difficult to create a
budget on such a low monthly income. The first thing I did was to locate an apartment. The upper
range I had in mind for my apartment was $400, and the cheapest one I could find was $399 per
month. It was also very difficult trying to determine whether I wanted to drive a car. Since the
expenses for car insurance and gas would be really high, I decided to not use a car. Fortunately, I got a
job as a cashier at a nearby Walmart. Thus, I could just walk to work. In addition, I found it difficult to
find a relatively inexpensive after school activity for the kids until I got off work. The budget for
groceries was also a tough amount to determine. Even if I use coupons, it would be difficult for my
family to stay within the budget every month for groceries. Overall, I budgeted the bare minimum to
my wants so that I could set aside money to my family s needs. In order to meet all the expenses and
live comfortably this family would need to be in the middle class.
I would completely disagree with them. Even if a poor person works 40 hours a week, it is still really
difficult to get by every month, especially with family members to support. Many people ... Show

Amanda Kraus At The Disability Analysis
In the world we live in today, many of us criticize or judge others while not noticing it. For instance,
when one sees a person with a disability they seem to aid them in any actions they re taking. Many
believe they are committing a good deed, although we are actually thinking of them as an incapable
and/or weakened human being therefore we assume its our duty to assist them. In addition, the people
s lack of awareness about the history of people with disabilities are the reason why many of us slack
the credentials to realize how we characterize them. Last but not least, the extra effort we make when
we see a person with a disability has to be viewed from all perspectives not just one.

  • 2. How Materialism Affect American Families Materialism can affect every living person on the planet, but it is more common in rich or well built up countries or nations it all started in the early 1900 s and started the boom of the industrial age of materials and technology. And what had get created from the age of materialism is the disease of Affluenza, which is a mental disorder that can have an effect on every person, no matter the age, race or creed, it is a disease that should be looked at more carefully, instead of overlooking the problem. The modern plague of materialism effects American families in a very bad way, which is over consumption of buying non amenities, instead of needs, which include basic clothes, food, healthcare and a mode of transportation. But the families just buy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IT breaks families apart because material objects can destroy everybody, mom, dad, brother, sister, it can bring about divorces and pain and destroy childhood. The effects of materialism first came from the early turn of the century because of new inventions, and the industrial revolution. So the effects of materialism goes back many years, so it is a little hard to reverse the effects of materialism. Over consumption is a harmful part of American society, Even though American comprise only five percent of the world s population, in 1996 we used nearly a third of its resources and produced almost half of its hazardous waste. Also The average North American consumes five times as much as an average Mexican, 10 times as the Chinese, and 30 times as much as the people in India .( citied: Affluenza diagnosis 1997 documentary). How it is straining our personal lives, because of the new toys and technology that is out to the public, some of the toys and technology are cell phones, game systems, and toys like cars, shoes, and designer clothes. • 3. The Northridge Earthquake Knowledge is the skill acquired by a person to have facts or information through education or experience. To wonder is to be curious to know something. The meaning behind Morgan s quote is that once someone learns something new, they want to investigate or know more. Once we are told something we did not know, our curiosity tells us to do some research or to ask questions in order to know more about the topic. I have been in this situation multiple times. When I was first told about the Northridge Earthquake that happened a few years ago, I was shocked and I was dying to know more. I had to do some research on my own and my knowledge about the earthquake expanded. Not only did I know what happened, but I also knew how it happened, why it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Assasination Vacation Essay When the topic comes to presidential assassins, most people will not use the word amusing and assassins in the same sentence; however; Dan Danbom, a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News, proved otherwise and stated that Vowell has succeeded in creating a humorous historical context by writing I can confidently say that Sarah Vowel s Assassination Vacation is the most amusing book you ll read this year about presidential assassinations (Danbom). Sarah Vowel s purpose of Assassination Vacation is to allow readers to have a look at both sides of history to shed light on the assassins, to reanimate moments lost to history, and to make her book more interesting by using her unique style of writing; although she fails miserably by adding in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at both side of the assassination gives the reader the normal idea that everyone has the idea that whatever the assassins had in mind were wrong and that assassination the president was a wrong doing that could not be condoned as well as the side of the assassins; which looks into how they think and the reasons they do it for. Vowell was successful in terms of reanimating the moments that are lost to history by rummaging around for historical artifacts that have survived, passed on, and been saved from the moments of the assassination. Vowell traveled from Philadelphia to New York to examine the specimens of Booth and Guiteau, where she asked the curator how the museum came into possession of Booth s remnants (Vowell.94). Vowell then found out from Worden, the museum s director, that the Piece of the thorax of John Wilkes Booth could not have came from the thorax after she performed an autopsy by herself (Vowell 94). By saving this piece of Booth, it allows later examination to reexamine what part of body part this actually is. Saving a piece of the body, such as the brain, of the assassin also allows later testing to be able to find out something that couldn t have been tested out before. ...It was ... • 5. Analysis Of Plato s Republic And Aristotle s Nicomachean... Upon application for university, hearts are heavy with the uncertainty for the future. An overwhelming hope to become the person we are meant to be. This journey, called university, provides the inverse; a worldly creation where past and future are intertwined. A place for discovery. A place of reflection. Leisure, sport and recreation are culpable in cultivating thyself in preparation for true reflection, whose telos is knowledge of thyself. This paper will explore this notion of the journey to true reflection through various historical and present day ideologies. Context will be provided via personal experiences of each phase, as the yellow brick road, leading up to reflection. Only then, true discoveries of thyself can be uncovered. Leisure, sport, and recreation provide the opportunity for growth of mind and body. Both Plato s Republic and Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics conceptualize this growth through games and sport. What is meant by growth? What is development in relation to the self? Once sufficiently developed, leisure, sport, recreation become agents for one to experience thyself in relation to others. Here, socio spatial boundaries become other dimensional and the self becomes a collection of photos. What does it mean to be an individual? What identity does the individual give to their community? Pat Power s notions or creative play, Luc Robene and Dominique Bodin, among many philosophers, thoroughly explore this interconnectivity that distinguishes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Being A Probation Officer As we know, probation and parole officers play a major role in shaping an offenders perception of reality as well as changing their behavior. The question that many will ask is is the role of the PO that of a social worker or cop? In my opinion, probation and parole officers have a huge weight on their shoulders due to the caseloads that they receive. Since the recent police brutality cases the mentality of an officer needs to change with the times. I believe that officers should lean more towards being a social worker/cop because they should be able to gain common ground with citizens while keeping their best interest and public safety at heart. In short, officers have to play multiple roles depending upon the situation and the stipulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that there will always be a contrast in some aspect of probation and parole especially when it comes to balancing roles and styles of supervision. Many feel that the true professional finds a way of integrating various role expectations, balancing them, and weighing the appropriateness of various expressions of the roles. It is probable that the treatment surveillance dichotomy will remain forever. (Latessa, 2015, p.211). To conclude, officers can directly impact the outcome of an offender on probation or parole by getting involved more with providing assistance where the offender lacks the resources to do so. For example, rather than referrals to certain programs, offenders who are considered high risk can be given extensive counseling on drug and alcohol abuse which could help them get the necessary attention they need. Another discretionary decision a PO can make in regards to high risk offenders is counseling on marital and family relationships, educational goals, and employment strategies. Although probation and parole are supervisions that are prescribed during different phases of the correctional experience they are both about rehabilitation which is the intent and aim for the PO assigned to a ... The uniqueness of the strategic issues at Ford are based on the market conditions. 1. Financial 2. Sales 3. Product line 4. Competition Given how inter related these issues are, the author decides to focus on the main underlying issues as highlighted in the case study; that is financial and competition issues. Sales and narrow product line are more on a business level as opposed to financial and competition which are more corporate in this context. • 12. Theme Of Supernatural In Things Fall Apart In Thing s Fall Apart death is represented in one instance as a religous act. When Okwonkwo is ordered to kill Ikemufuna it was nt simply because he wanted to. In reality he didn t want anything to do with the death but it was a sacrifice ordered by the oracle. In Okwonkwo s efforts to never look weak he particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna even though he was told not to. Death in the novel also represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his dad. Through the beginning of the text til when Ikemufuna is sacraficed no one seen that coming. Okwonkwo is a trader because not only did he love the kid as his own, but Ikemufuna actually says to him My Father, they have killed me! right before Okwonkwo finishes the job. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some that are listed in the text are Ani, Amadiora, Idemeli,Agbala, and Ogwugwu and they are believed to be the source of the communities stability and peace. The gods aren t the only evidence of supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain rituals and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural. In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the god who orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want Okwonkwo to have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that comes down and stops Abraham from killing Isaac. • 13. Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of the idealistic nuclear American society. Bond 2 At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do nothing but harm minorities much like himself. Ginsberg saw the best minds of [his] generation destroyed by madness... demanding instantaneous lobotomy... (1 69). The harmful and destructive ideology of the great American dream remains engraved in our society dating all the way back to The Bill of Rights, 1789, No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property and Allen Ginsberg strived to dismantle this falsely constructed ideology. Neuromuscular Junctions MUSCLE FIBERS AND EXERCISE: Exercise leads to changes in muscle fiber size known as muscle hypertrophy, this increase in size is a result of increasing muscle fiber diameter caused by exercise induced genes, such as peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (PGC 1α). (Ruas, White, Rao, Kleiner, Brannan, Harrison; 2012). As per Balice Gordon, Breedlove, Bernstein Lichtman (1990) the Neuromuscular junction size is coupled, to a certain degree, to muscle fiber size. We had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our experiments as we went on during our lab. CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people even said that the Jersey Devil would terrorize little children because it was jealous it could never be a normal child. Ever since then, the devil has been spotted in different places in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, making that same screaming noise. There exist many different types of storylines about the New Jersey Devil. Despite these discrepancies, most of the versions have the name Leeds involved. For example, in the version that I collected, Mrs. Shrouds lived in Leeds Point; however, in other forms of this story, the woman s name was Mrs. Leeds. Most tales of the New Jersey Devil involve this woman who had one too many children and placed a cursed on her unborn child. This tale also ties into the study of magic since the mother of the Jersey Devil cursed her unborn child, causing it to be born as the deformed creature that it is known to be today. The Right And Bear Arms Essay There are and always will be people disagreeing over the controversial Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, however there are several reasons why the Second Amendment is beneficial to the community. The Second Amendment to certain people in the United States is seen as an amendment that represents their freedom. Some of the key reasons that the right to bear arms is beneficial to the community is that it allows for citizens to hunt and provide for their families, it allows for people to protect themselves and others, and can keep it so that the government doesn t have uncontrollable power. The amendment also allows for the people to be able to go and buys guns and ammo. The amount of benefits to the community that the second amendment gives off is under estimated by many, due to the news and publicity always being very negative towards guns and their uses.
