2016 Presidential Election
Many American s were surprised with the results of the 2016 Presidential Election. With Clinton
predicted to win with more than seventy percent of the votes, so many Americans were upset or
troubled to wake up to Donald Trump as their new president elect. After the results of the election,
violence has broken out throughout the country, mainly targeted at minorities. With the country in an
uproar, one may think, how does this sort of situation happen? One could blame the media for this
lack of information or surprise outcome of the election. The media has changed this election from the
way we view our candidates to who we predicted to win through social media, journalistic bias and
people s internal filter.
Social media affected the preexisting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 2016 election has been the first election where social media has been a key player to how people
got their information. Statistics say 44 percent of American adults said they had learned something
new in the past week about the election from social media. However, with social media such an
important influence on the younger generation it is important for all of this information to be
legitimate and truthful. Google and Facebook have recently changed their policies to try to stop fake
news articles from popping up within their ad space. The spread of fake news articles skews the public
s perception of the candidates. The guardian talks about how the American voter is not just one
demographic (college educated individuals, white men, minorities etc. ) because of this lack of
(straightforward), it s hard to get an accurate prediction on who would have won the election.
Additionally, the media affected the election negatively because they did not give the general public
enough information to understand the statistics that they were

CSR
From the public outcry of unethical sweatshops in the 90s to the Rana Plaza collapse of 2013, the
issue of whether corporations should engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been a topic
of debate. When determining whether branded apparel corporations should engage in CSR or not,
there are many factors to consider, like questions of economics, legality, and philosophical outlook.
From the factors mentioned, philosophical outlooks are extremely subjective and hard to solidify into
legitimate reasons, so I will not explore into such domain. In terms of legality, corporations are not
obligated by law to engage in CSR. CSR is the idea by which corporations voluntarily choose

Analysis Of Reservation Blues By Sherman Alexie
Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie, is about a group of Native Americans who start a jazz band
called Coyote Springs on an Indian Reservation near Spokane Washington. The novel takes us along
with the band from start to finish, while they face problems concerning interracial relationships,
cultural appropriation and exchange, and shared creativity. In Reservation Blues, their band is able to
uniquely tie two historically oppressed cultures together. The first culture involved is Native American
culture, as that is the culture of the members of the Coyote Springs band. The second culture involved
is Black culture, as jazz was originally contrived from Black culture and is the type of music played
by Coyote Springs. Due to the presence of creative property of one culture being used by another
culture the concepts of cultural appropriation and cultural exchange come into play. Cultural
appropriation is when one culture, often the oppressive culture, borrows elements of another culture,
often the oppressed culture, and uses them for their own benefit. Which would be the Native
Americans in this story using Jazz from Black culture, however, since both cultures are considered
oppressed, this relationship would instead be considered one of cultural exchange. Cultural Exchange
is similar to that of cultural appropriation without the element of oppression or dehumanization. In the
novel, Alexie portrays the relationship between Native American and Black culture through Coyote

The Common Type Of Dementia
Alzheimer is the most common type of dementia that refers to problems with memory, thinking and
behavior typically among people aged 65 and older (Alzheimer s Association.) Dementia is caused by
damage to nerve sells in the brain and as a result, neurons can no long function normally and may die.
In Alzheimer s disease, the impairment of the neurons eventually damages one s ability to carry out
basic everyday activities such as walking and eating. According to the Alzheimer s Research
Foundation, physical exercise can reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer s by up to 50 percent. After
developing cognitive problems, regular exercise will help to slow further deterioration. For example,
someone that has developed symptoms should take the stairs instead of the elevators as a way to add
more movement into their day. It is imperative to acknowledge symptoms of Alzheimer s disease
sooner rather than later so that a health provider can recommend proper treatment options. These
symptoms develop over time and gradually worsen over the years. At the most moderate stage of
someone with Alzheimer s, a common sign is gradual memory loss and confusion. Someone in the
moderate stage may also have difficulty doing things that have multiple steps such as getting dressed
in the morning. As time progresses, the person in its final stages of the disease are unable to leave their
bed and eventually need around the clock assistance. Signs of severe Alzheimer s disease also include

Essay About Duterte
Radical simply means grasping things at the root Angela Davis (Radical Quotes). Throughout history,
radical change meats two things: a chaotic new era where people suffered, or it meant a prosperous
time for the people. During the Russian Revolution, Vladimir Lenin led an uprising with the people to
form a communist government. This radical change brought forth a demise to the new Russian society
and its people as the new system led them to time of economic depression and poverty. On the other
hand, the American Revolution was a radical uprising that would be the start of the United States of
America. As a result, the U.S. today has created a government that is considered unrivaled in its
efficiency. Rodrigo Duterte, a man known for his unorthodox methods and aggressive nature, is
considered a radical candidate in this year s election. Duterte s actions are heavily criticized as well as

Professionalism Essay
For this paper I will be talking about Professionalism. I chose to write about this topic because after
talking about this in class. There are certain qualities to professionalism you must learn which is
having great Appearance, Demeanor, Reliability, Competence, Ethics, Maintaining Your Temper,
Accountability and Phone Etiquette. So I bet your wondering what is professionalism according to
(Merriam) and (Porcupile) Professionalism is the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark
a profession or a professional person. I was actually unaware of how much the word professionalism
really played a part of your daily life. Professionalism plays a part in the way you appear to others the
way that you communicate as well as your work ethics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before starting this Introduction to Healthcare this quarter I actually thought professionalism was only
about how you dressed yourself, but now I know that your attitude and the way that you conduct
yourself plays an important part in professionalism as well. How you present your work is also a part
of professionalism.
What I feel about professionalism is it plays a big part in your everyday life because it can have an
impact your day to day interactions with any and every one. It could place you in a category rather the
person verbalize that to you or not it plays a part. The people you attract to yourself and the jobs that
you may be eligible for depending on the way you conduct yourself. Which may not seem big but it is
a huge deal.
Professionalism will be used in my career on a daily basis. I would have to come to work prepared and
on time. I have to come to work dressed like I am ready to work in the field that I m currently in or
want to be in by wearing scrubs and the proper shoes with safety in mind. It will also be used when
talking to Doctors, coworkers, patients and their families. Sometimes I would have to place the
integrity of the profession and the interests of residents, clients, visitors and coworkers above those of
my own interests. I would have to communicate with insurance companies at times so it is a very good

The Vietnam War Changed America
The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought in America s
History, lasting from 1955 to 1973. The Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by becoming the
first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated war aims, to preserve a separate,
independent, noncommunist government. The war also had great effects on the American people. It
was the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what happened on the
battlefield. One of the chief effects of the war was the division it caused among the people. Not since
the Civil War had America been so divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States.
Many people to this day still believe that America had no business getting involved in the Vietnam
War. It was a very controversial decision made by John. F Kennedy to send over American troops to
aid in the battle against communism. The people that supported this decision to participate in the war
always said that it would work out better for the United States in the long run. Well, they could not be
more wrong. America entering into the vietnam war was the least helpful thing to America in the long
run. Simply it took America s self image and through it in the garbage. The Vietnam war, for the
Americans, was an unwinnable war. The half a million United States troops as well as the 700,000
southern Vietnamese troops were no match for the 250,000 northern vietnamese troops. The

How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter
In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He
gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they
were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing
Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester
Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and
transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and
keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter,
Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does
not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does.
Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin,
being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. While Hawthorne makes
it clear that other people within the community sin, only one person in the novel was ever publicly
vilified Hester. Hawthorne intrudes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne depicts this through the sins of Hester and Dimmesdale only one admits to their sin, and
only one is an honorable person. This trend of sinning is not only seen within Hawthorne s novel, it is
seen in real life. Sin is everywhere, ranging from the little white lie to murder but what people need to
realize is that sin is not the problem, the denial of sin is. There is not a person in the world who has not
sinned, calling them all immoral is not only absurd but impossible. As Ecclesiastes 7:20 puts it, there
is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never

Race And Social Class Inequality Essay
Race+Social Class+Economic Class=Value? As shown throughout history, race and social class have
played a large role in determining people s values this is based on the specific culture and the societal
values fostered by their environment. In the case of the United States, as a result of the enslavement of
people of color, white people were seen to have the most value . The higher up socio economically
white people were, the more they were considered valuable. In the 1920 s, racism was still enforced
by laws (such as Jim Crow) and this idea of blackness correlating with no value was emphasized by
society through segregation and stigma stemming from slavery. One way that people of color went
around their race during this time period to escape the prejudice that correlated was through the
method of passing as white. This method and its implications can be seen in Nella Larsen s Passing
through looking at the characters Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry, who mobilize themselves on each
side of the color line. In the novel, Irene and Clare have very different reasons for passing Irene passes
for convenience, while Clare passes to alter her lifestyle and identity completely. This shift in identity
as a means of changing societal implications aligns with Women on the Market by Luce Irigaray,
which sheds light on the idea of the exchange of women. According to Irigaray, women are
commodities their value is dependent on their social, economic, and marital statuses. The most

A Short Note On Thyroid And Parathyroid Glands

Module IV Assignment
Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands
Thyroid
The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland with two lobes, one on each side of the trachea, below the level
of the larynx. These lobes are connected by a narrow piece of tissue called the isthmus (Johnstone,
Farley, Hendry, McLafferty, 2014). The thyroid consists of follicles, which contain follicular cells that
synthesize and secrete the thyroid hormones. These hormones are tetra iodothyronine or thyroxine
(T4), tri iodothyronine (T3) and calcitonin. The main function of the thyroid gland is to control the
body s metabolic rate; however in children it also controls growth and development (Warren, 2014).
The thyroid gland is controlled by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which is secreted by the
pituitary gland (Warren, 2014). These hormones are produced by an endocrine feedback loop that
allows the body to control their release according to need (Hall, 2010). The hypothalamus, which
synthesizes and secretes Thyrotrophin releasing hormone (TRH), initiates this loop (Hall, 2010).
These hormones can be measured in the blood and are important in diagnosing and managing thyroid
disease. Thyroid disease is seen in three forms: under activity (hypothyroidism), over activity
(hyperthyroidism) and swelling of the thyroid. Thyroid disease is one of the most common disorders
of the endocrine system and is more common in women than men.

Superstition In Dracula
Science is often thought of as an improvement of society, but it also makes the humans more close
minded and narrow. The Victorian age of the setting is at its height of technology. There are trains,
phonographs, typewriters, and telegraphs. Trains are the main use of travel and telegraphs allow the
characters to send each other short messages. A new medical concept, blood transfusions, plays an
important aspect in the story. With these advancement of technology, the Victorian mindset leans more
towards science. This conflicts with Dracula who symbolizes the ancient mindset of humans:

Dracula dies at the hands of Jonathan, who slits his throat with his Kukri knife, and Quincey, who

great knife. I shrieked as I saw it shear through the throat; whilst at the same moment Mr. Morris s

considering that there are Winchester rifles that Quincey Morris had included in their armory.
Furthermore, the mission to intercept and kill Dracula did not truly come down to science, but rather
the detective reasoning and determination. The heroes fail to capture Dracula when he landed at a

The other use of the caste structure is that it defines the social rank of a person. This is because it does
not recognize the wealth, power and poverty level of an individual. This guides him to pursue his
obligations as it set all the people to be equal at birth. This makes an individual to take all the other
human being to be equal as they do not involve their social power and wealth to judge others. The
other use of the caste arrangement is that can provide mental safety to an individual. Through it, an
individual has to know what public life he can follow as he has the information of the place he to
marries. This defies the kind of social life that person has to live so that he can meet the expectations.
Caste can also help an individual to make a selection of his occupation. This is because the person is
offered with the right occupation he should follow from birth. He is then guided to see that he
achieves what is required in that occupation. With the use of the caste, an individual can be in a
position to select a life partner. This is because it has set the guidelines of endogamy thus the
individual has to join in matrimony within his personal class or the sub caste. This is because the
selection of the mates is based on the caste rules. The caste system as well determines the actions of an
individual. This is because it operates on a set of codes ad guidelines which guide each individual. The

The Between The Thorey And The Practice Essay
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THOREY AND THE PRACTICE?
The article of THE RIGHT TO DIE STILL SEEMS MORE THEORY THAN PRACTICE takes a pro
side of the right to die. Due to the problems of protecting the patients from abuse (from ones who
might want the patient dead or prolonging life for ulterior motives), and that the decisions and views
of ethics are been made from professional who may or may not know the patient or the family well.
These decisions such as quality of life are being define and made by society. It seems as though that
the theory is the battle over the patients rights, and the practice is the battle to enforce them. This
battle is catapulted from the fear of liability (civil and criminal), from the institutes and the doctors.
These situations usually leave the patient powerless.

Since the advancement of technology and capability of medicine, the debate has risen to a level of
which it can t be ignored. The fact of prolonging someone life has to be a factor since it is possibility
of prolonging it comfortably. Before there were advancement of technology and capability of

When Rome began adopting Greek architecture and art (The three orders of architecture, Doric, Ionic,

while maintaining the sophistication of the Greeks architect s prowess (Kamm, Antony. 2017).
However, Roman concrete was most widely used to construct roads for troops and to help faster
economic trade, as well as, being used commonly in buildings and walls. At about 120 124 the
Romans architectural mastery was so great that they could build the circular Pantheon temple, a
testament to the majesty of the Roman empire, and a place where the Romans could pray to their gods.
The Pantheon dome was created in a way where the concrete for the coffered dome was poured in
molds and mounted on temporary scaffolding where the center, known as the oculus, would be open
for the public to see the light or night of day, and stand as a testament to the capabilities the Roman

The Lonesome Dove Saga, By Larry Mcmurtry
There are so many different concerns that a lot of women have today, and just like there is today, in
the past during the time of Larry McMurtry s writing of the Lonesome Dove Saga, women had
perhaps the same, or maybe even a little different, concerns throughout this time period that you come
to find. These fully formed characters McMurtry introduces you to come to be; fun loving, strong
minded, and heart filled women.
Clara Allen and Captain August Gus McCrae was thought to be together forever. Throughout years
and years of their lives, Clara and Gus had a connection. A type of connection that simply was one that
could not compare to any other. They were the type of people who knew what they wanted, but knew
it was no good for the both of them. As they both started to accept the fact that no matter how much
they cared for each other, it would never hold out in a permanent relationship. Gus goes on a cattle
drive from Lonesome Dove, Texas to Montana in hopes to find the one who once turned him down,
Clara and maybe have a chance to change her mind. Clara was the type of women who could not
marry Gus, for it was the fact that she thought of him as someone to wild to try and settle down with.
Clara knew what she had to do and who she had to be with. For Clara, it may have been the fact of she
loved him enough to let him go, and perhaps he felt the same way. She felt for Gus, but knew if she
wanted to marry and start a family, he would not be the one whom she would have a

Natural Disasters And Public Health Of The Affected...
Introduction
Natural disasters will always cause damage to the infrastructures and public health of the affected
communities. Low income countries are the most vulnerable because of a lack of preparation for
coping with the displaced population. Displaced populations of vulnerable areas are often subjected to
poor sanitation and hygiene practices and inaccessible clean water, both as effects of crowding and
being in an unfamiliar environment. It is the primary cause of communicable diseases following
natural disasters. Until recently, policy makers were widely under the misconception that disease is
spread from bodies. While it is still exaggerated in the media, the main cause of illness and death
following disasters is due to an inadequate provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)
practices. Preparation by governments and foreign organizations should focus on the sanitation of
those displaced in order to address communicable diseases in the short term. Having a strong plan
before the disaster can promote sustained WASH practices after disaster recovery and improve long
term health. Governments of at risk countries often do not have the resources for integrating WASH
and disaster preparation and rely on foreign assistance. Their goal is to identify hazards and risks of
likely natural disasters, and take it into account when designing new infrastructure. Hardware like
latrines and sanitation facilities should be able to withstand the disaster or be safe to use

Procrastination Method
Back in dark ages, when people used to have to tune into their shows once a week, it seemed like
people would get a lot more done. If nothing was on that interested him or her, they would simply find
something else to do such as yard work or reading a book. Now days, with options such as Hulu and
Netflix, it is easy to fall into the trap of binge watching. I am one of the many people who have fell
victim to binge watching. I ll always keep telling myself just one more episode, but the next time I
look at the clock, it s one a.m., and I still haven t started any of my homework. Then, I will have to
stay up even later trying to do all of the homework that I had put off doing. I usually end up rushing to

Studies have begun to examine the use of Netflix as a procrastination method, even as a form of sleep
procrastination (Friedmann, 2016).
I used to find myself saying that I ll go to bed at ten, but by the time I get home from work it s already
past nine. Then, I ll choose watching a episode on Netflix over starting my homework, then next thing
I know its already almost midnight, and I still hadn t touched my homework. I used to just keep
pushing sleep further and further back, so I could sneak in a couple more episodes. Eventually the lack
of sleep would catch up with me, and I would crash.
Since online TV was introduced, many peoples watching habits have changed. Instead of waiting until
the next episode came out a week later, people can simply just hit the next episode button and waste
and entire day away. Because of this, people have began to severely procrastinate, myself included,
but since I have gotten Netflix back, I have learned manage my time and set my priorities straight.
Every once in awhile, I still do find myself binge watching an entire day

Annotated Bibliography On Uniform Resource Locator
URL (Uniform Resource Locator, previously Universal Resource Locator) is the unique address for a
file that accessible on the Internet, is a reference to a web resource that specifies its location on a
computer network and a mechanism for retrieving it. (Rouse)
Most web browsers display the URL of a web page above the page in an address bar. A typical URL
could have the formhttp://www.example.com/index.html, which indicates a protocol (http), use to
access the file resource; a hostname/domain name (www.example.com), that identifies a specific
computer on the internet; and a file name (index.html), specifies the location of a file in that computer.
Like a key to the door, by entering the URL of a website in the web browser s address line, you can
get to the page in that website. Any file within the website can also be specified with a URL, like any
(HTML) web page.
A good URL is important to web analytics. Having the keywords inside the long URL to be user
friendly, a good URL let anyone understand what the page it leads to just by taking a look at it. For
example, (www.example.com/fruits/apple.html ). In this URL, we can clearly see that apple page are
from fruits folder, instead of the color red folder or else. In many occasions, web analysts look at the
performance of a similar set of pages as a group. The /fruits folder lets the web analyst filter, group,
and look at all the data only related to all the fruit pages. (Contributor, 2011)

Gertude Stein And The Art Of Cubism Essay
The Cubist painter renounced the work of artists who drew only what society wanted to view as art.
Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and
movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist
artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that
required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the
visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. Stein s writing is often compared
to the visual art of modernist painting, such as Duchamp s work from the 1913 Armory Show, Nude

In the section entitled A Waist, Stein uses anaphora and begins each of three separate, disconnected
thought patterns in the same manner: A star glide, a single franctic sullenness, a single financial grass
greediness. Object that is in wood. Hold the pine, hold the dark, hold in the rush, make the bottom. A
piece of crystal. A change, in a change that is remarkable there is no reason to say that there was a
time. A woolen object gilded. A country climb is the best disgrace, a couple of practices an of them in
order is so left (1171). A pattern is maintained within this section that creates the rhythm between the
separated thought patterns, but at the same time does not permit the reader to move out of the present,
thus forcing the reader to continue moving through the section. The disconnected thought patterns
within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words
within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s
painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and
what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting.
Stein and Duchamp both place labels on their pieces that initially implant an idea of what the viewer

In Cold Blood Father Figure Quotes
The novel In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is a prime example why parent figures are important in
children s life. For example, Perry is the antagonist of the novel, and he did not have a mother figure
due to his mother s alcoholism, and because of his father s absence, he did not have a father figure.
The novel also demonstrates the effect not having a father figure will do to children. Perry, not having
mother figure to give him warmth and the love he deserves, turned into someone who does not have
any sympathy towards anybody and he does not have any remorse towards the pain and suffering he
had inflicted to the clutters family or anybody that would encounter him. When Smith attacked Mr.

Richard Whittington s Theory And Complications Of...
Richard Whittington introduced four theories of strategy to explain how people behave and think in
real business world and what the projected implications of their various behaviors on strategic
management are. The four theories proposed by Whittington are: classical, evolutionary, processual
and systemic theories. Classical approach to strategy is a reductionist and scientific one. Classicists
are influenced by Taylorism which entails rational thinking and breaking problems and situations into
their components to solve them while ignoring that the whole is greater than the sum of its
components. Obviously, this approach concerns controllable aspects of situations and ignores areas of
uncertainty in an endeavor to simplify the surrounding complexity and to achieve the ultimate goal for

Do No Harm
An article from The New York Times, On Assisted Suicide, Going Beyond Do No Harm , addresses
the issue of physician assisted suicide. This is an issue that affects the entire world, and there are a
vast difference of opinions on it. Physician assisted suicide involves a doctor knowingly and
deliberately providing a person with the information or means, or both, essential to commit suicide.
This includes counseling about lethal doses of medications, prescribing lethal doses and/or supplying
the medications. However, even as assisted suicide has gained broader support, the ones most strongly
opposed to it hasn t shifted: doctors. So what is meant by do no harm? This is a huge topic of debate in
the United States.

Many believe legalization of assisted suicide would eventually lead to acts reminiscent of Nazi
Germany. So far this has not been noted in any of the countries where it has been legalized. We are
also told that assisted suicide laws will allow physicians and nurses to avoid providing quality
palliative care to patients, which also remains to be seen.
The article states that with the right safety measures in place, assisted suicide can help give terminally
ill patients a sense of control over their lives as extreme pain and illness torture them. It suggests that
instead of using our energies to convince patients who might want to end their lives while terminally
ill or suffering horribly, physicians need to reassess how they can help patients achieve their goals
when the end is near. We should be able to offer options for those who wish for assisted suicide, so
that they can take control of their own death.
The author of the article feels that instead of looking for guidance from ancient proclamations, we
need to re evaluate what patients face in modern times. Even if it is a path we personally wouldn t
recommend, we should allow patients suffering from painful and debilitating disease the

How To Write A Spanish Essay
Planning to write a Spanish essay because you think is easier? Spanish and English are two of the
most spoken languages in the world, which have differences and similarities in writing. Despite that
both languages use the same alphabet, Spanish has more difficult writing mechanics such as
punctuation rule, noun s gender and quantity, and verb conjugation that make writing an essay more
laborious. First, Spanish has a complicated punctuation rule because it uses diacritic acute (´) which
can change meaning of words if you don t use it, for example, the words vino (wine in English) and
vinó (past tense of the verb come in 3rd. person). In fact, if you don t use diacritic acute correctly, you
show your bad education in writing. Another Spanish s punctuation rule is the use of double
exclamation and question marks in the beginning and the end of sentences, for example, ¿Qué paso?,
¡Hola! In contrast, English doesn´t use diacritic acute in writing and uses one exclamation and
question mark in the sentence s ending, for instance, What happened?, Hi! ... Show more content on

The Harlem Renaissance was a wonderful allotment of advancement for the black poets and writers of
the 1920s and early 30s. I see the Harlem Renaissance as a time where people gather together and
express their work throughout the world for everyone to see the brilliance and talent the black
descendants harness.
The two authors I picked were W.E.B Du Bois and Langston Hughes. The reason why I picked these
two is because of the dedicated work they have flourished during the Harlem Renaissance. W.E.B Du
Bois was one of the most famous black political leaders during that time. Du Bois had a lot of talent to

One poem I chose from Langston Hughes that grabbed my immediate attention is his poem The Weary
Blues . This poem written by Hughes is very powerful to me and expresses a deep message within for
all Americans during that time; double consciousness is notable all throughout the entire poem.
Langston Hughes, who was one of the main focal points of figures of the Harlem Renaissance, tries to
remain conscientious to his African American roots in his foundation. His poem The Weary Blues is
the perfect example of double consciousness. The author of the article places an immersed question:
Was Langston Hughes able to overcome the double consciousness and take the pot luck with African
origins and roots, or did he also not know how to manage to escape from the assimilation in the
melting pot of the American culture? Reading the poem from him, he actually provides the answer,
which he states that the poet succeeds in promoting the folk (Black) tradition, having to compromise
with the compulsory framing into American (White) reality of the form and the content of the subject.
The idiopathic themes expressed in both, Langston Hughes and W.E.B Du Bois during their time
period were expounded in great detail. One line from W.E.B Du Bois poem The Song of the Smoke
said For blackness was ancient ere whiteness began , this shows the

The argument here is based on the premise that in today s day and age where we share much

Conversion of the XML Schema to Data Warehouse Schema
Introduction: eXtensible Markup Language is used mainly in most of the organizations for e

exchanging the data among the various applications on the internet. Moreover, XML schema is used
for representing the XML document structure where XML data is associated with the XML schema.
Furthermore, data warehouse provides tools which business use the data for making the important
decisions. Correspondingly, data is stored in the fact table and multidimensional tables. Mainly, the
table association between them are generally represented with the three data warehouse schemas like
a) star schema b) fact constellation schema c) snowflake schema. Simultaneously, the use of the
internet is increasing day by day and by first integrating the data and secondly converting the data into
XML schema from the schema graph to the various data schemas. At first, schema graph is taken as
the model for the conversion of the data that is extracted from the XML schema and the data is
transformed into the various schema. Consequently, the data warehouse schema is constructed with
these fact tables, dimension tables and the relation existing between the graph and tables.

knowledge in ways that were superior compared to other cultures occupying the time period. Roman
medicine was advanced for its time because the Romans adopted advanced methods from Ancient
Greek medicine, they organized architecture for the sake of public health, and because of their vast
knowledge of disease, herbs, and medical tools.
The Romans would not have acquired an interest in medicine if it weren t for early Greek influence.
Around 500 BC, the Romans and the Greeks first came in contact with each other and by 146 B.C. a
large portion of Greece had become a province of the Roman Empire. With the exposure to Greek
traditions, the Romans began to obtain information from the Greeks, but only based their own ideas on
Greek findings. Greek ideas were considered to be impractical and inferior to Roman ideas, which
were always centered on bringing success to the empire. Once the Roman Empire expanded into
Greece, many Greek doctors travelled to Rome. The Greeks brought with them new

The American Heritage Book Of Indians
Many textbooks attribute modern day democracy to the Europeans who landed on and colonized
North America. It s often taken for granted that the Native American people had systems of social and
political organizations established long before first contact. The Iroquois Confederacy is an example
of such an organization; one of such great significance that its extent and impact can be observed in
present day American democracy. On Wednesday September 16, 1987 Congress passed Senate
Concurrent Resolution 76 which acknowledged the contribution of the Iroquois Confederacy of
Nations to the development of the U.S. Constitution. In the book The American Heritage Book of
Indians an introduction from John F. Kennedy states that When we forget great contributors to our
American history when we neglect the heroic past of the American Indian we thereby weaken our own
heritage. We need to remember the contribution our forefathers found here and from which they
borrowed liberally. When Indians controlled the balance of power...the pioneers found that Indians had
developed a high civilization with safeguards for ensuring the peace. The League of the Iroquois,
inspired Benjamin Franklin to copy it in planning the federation of States. The following thesis will
explain what contributions the Iroquois and their Confederacy made to the American form of
government in existence today.
The Iroquois Confederation/Confederacy, The League of the Iroquois, and the Five Nations are used

Nt1310 Unit 5 Assignment
To fulfill the agreed upon task of project administration and management, I write requests for
information, review samples, and to distribute documents to the specialty contractors. To create
requests for information, we use a system called TeamBuild. Once the document is published, all
designers affected by the question are notified, and have a week to respond. TeamBuild streamlines
communication and allows for quicker responses. When reviewing samples, I enjoy handling the
different materials, and comparing them to the construction documents. Since our architect is in Los
Angeles, it takes finite coordination to make all opinions are incorporated. Lastly, whenever a new set
of documents is released, it is my job to make sure the affected subcontractors are able to have access
the updated information. By emailing out the new documents, and giving the company a phone call ...

Recently, I was tasked with completing a takeoff of the wall tile to be placed in our building. The
owner had requested full height tile in the restrooms, but the quote that came in seemed high. By
completing the takeoff, I was able to identify the problems in the estimate. I have found the project
estimator to be a great resource. If I have any questions pertaining the subcontracts, my first contact is
always our estimator. A simple question asked over the phone can often transform into a conversation
where I am able to learn something new about estimating. I was recently offered to have my internship
extended in order to spend a few weeks in the estimating department. Going into my internship I
wanted nothing to do with estimating, but now that I see how the different departments work together
to create a building, the importance of estimators stands out to me. I am excited to experience two
concentrations of construction in order to see which suites my personality the

Zopiclone Research Paper
Insomnia is a medical condition that makes it difficult to sleep for a person. Insomnia is often a
symptom that represents other diseases. There are many ways to fight insomnia. Most of them are
associated with finding the causes for this problem and then eliminating them over a period of time.
Most people though do not have this luxury of time. They have to go to their work each day and
cannot seem to do so when they find themselves sleepy everyday due to sleep deprivation. This is a
case of quick help which can only be achieved through the use of medicinal drugs. What a person
needs when suffering from insomnia is a sleeping drug such as Zopiclone in UK.

Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry...
The Use of Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry Eating
Written in 1980, Galway Kinnell s Blackberry Eating is a poem which creates a strong metaphoric
relationship between the tangible objects of blackberries, and the intangible objects of words. The
speaker of the poem feels a strong attraction to the sensory characteristics (the touch, taste, and look)
of blackberries. The attraction he feels at the beginning of the poem exclusively for blackberries is
paralleled in the end by his appetite and attraction to words. The rush the speaker gets out of
blackberry eating is paralleled to the enjoyment he finds in thinking about certain words; words which
call up the same sensory images the blackberries embody. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third line states the speaker s purpose. He is going out to eat the blackberries for breakfast. This
line shows that the speaker not only has an attraction to the berries aesthetic qualities but also craves
them to satiate his appetite. The speaker s appetite for the berries is later paralleled to his appetite for
words. In the next line, the speaker describes the stalks of the blackberry bushes as very prickly. This
is the first negative image used in association with the blackberries. All the previous images have been
positive characteristics of blackberries fat, overripe, icy, and black. Perhaps, this negative image of the
prickly stalks is being used to show that along with pleasure invariably comes pain in the natural
world. This same idea used in the context of the words suggests the two fold potential of words to
both benefit and harm. In the next line, the prickly stalks are attributed as a penalty that they
[blackberry bushes] earn for knowing the black art. This imagery of the flowering of the bushes being
a black art lends a magical, bewitching quality to the blackberries, an idea that there is something
wickedly tempting about the berries. In connecting this idea to the word metaphor, it shows that the
ability to tempt and persuade with words can also be a form of black art. In the next line, the speaker
talks about standing among the blackberries and lifting the stalks to his mouth where the

Rolling Wheels Case Study
Rolling wheels
The whole industry of cars being advertized to the public by toys, games, shows and so on, have
always had this target to consumers (parents) to buy these toys most specifically to their male kids and
young adult. This matter gives a social idea that male children had to interact with manly like toys that
gave the children there gender role of being a male begging or stating the stage of what your suppose
to like as you grow up because of your sex. Respectively being a child, seeing a toy car was something
you naturally approached to and were not told nothing if you played with it unless you for some
chance tried to play with a doll or play house and were told not to by a parent. There response for
restricting you to these other toys was most likely because that s for girls to play I never wondered
why there was such restrictions between girl and boy toys; I just knew I had to stick to cars. In my
case I may have gotten a response like this in my childhood one day after school playing with the
apartment neighbors, girl from school, on the stairwell playing with her toy horse and doll when my
mother came out and told me not to play with that to instead bring one of my toys out to play. Toy cars
have been in throughout my whole life and have inspired me to pursue a career on what I have come
to love most which all started with a toy car I got as a present as a child.
The first most significant toy car I got as a child was a new bright remote 1:6

Previou Experiment
1 Briefly describe the aim(s) of the study The hypothesis of the study, which is explicitly stated in the
abstract section was to examine and reject the possibility that change blindness in previous studies
resulted from passive viewing of 2 D displays. Hence, testing the hypothesis in the real world would
still generate similar results as previous studies have concluded from using still images and motion
pictures. Briefly mentioned in the abstract and explicitly stated in the results and discussion part of
Experiment 1, the researchers were led to a second hypothesis due to the apparent trend within the
collected results from the first experiment. The second hypothesis was that younger subjects
considered themselves members of the same social group as the experimenters and older subjects
considered the experimenters to be members of an out group. Thus, successful detection depended on
social group membership. 2 Indicate whether or not the study was theoretically motivated. Clearly
discussed in the abstract and greatly detailed throughout the introduction, the researchers were
theoretically motivated by a number of previous laboratory experiments, studies and research findings.
These theoretical motivations were in addition to the researchers very own assumptions and findings
based on their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of findings that the researchers intended to build upon was the findings regarding change
blindness , which suggests that observers lack a precise visual representation of their world from one
view to the next (Bartlett, 1932/1977; Brewer Treyens, 1982; Loftus, 1970; Nickerson Adams, 1970).
Therefore, by testing the first hypothesis, the researchers are essentially building upon this finding by
applying it to a real world situation and examining all the aspects in regards to change

William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy Essay
William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy
This compact little book is Volume III of a series entitled A History of England, edited by Lacey
Baldwin Smith, and its inclusion in this series reveals much about its scope and intent. Smith writes in
the Preface to the series that their authors have tried by artistry to step beyond the usual confines of a
textbook and conjure up something of the drama of politics, of the wealth of personalities, and even of
the pettiness, as well as the greatness, of human motivation. Some of this can be found in The Age of
Aristocracy; some of it cannot. William B. Willcox s device for covering the significant people and
events of one hundred forty two years in only two hundred thirty seven pages is to ... Show more

Willcox does discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the individual monarchs, but for the most part
these kings and queens are spectators; Willcox s real interest is in the politicians, and his book works
best when he manages to draw concise and important connections between such men as Marlborough,
Chesterfield, Walpole, and North, and the social forces that they harnessed to get their jobs done. Lord
Chesterfield, for example, is presented as the epitome of the eighteenth century Gentleman; his letters
of advice to his son Philip provide a standard by which Willcox introduces the world of manners and
form that provide the background for the rest of the book. What Chesterfield saw was there, says
Willcox, the love of form and style and the surface of life (51). Most of these miniature portraits are
very effective: Robert Walpole has an entire chapter devoted to his era, and he provides a stable center
through which to understand the dizzying political problems of dealing with Hanoverian succession,
the creation of British financial empires such as the Bank of England and the South Sea Company, and
the intricate relationships between peace, foreign diplomacy, and their effect on British business
interests. Two different William Pitts are also well served, and the Younger is particularly interesting

With Clinton predicted to win with more than seventy percent of the votes, so many Americans were upset or troubled to wake up to Donald Trump as their new president elect. After the results of the election, violence has broken out throughout the country, mainly targeted at minorities. With the country in an uproar, one may think, how does this sort of situation happen? One could blame the media for this lack of information or surprise outcome of the election. The 2016 election has been the first election where social media has been a key player to how people got their information. Statistics say 44 percent of American adults said they had learned something new in the past week about the election from social media. However, with social media such an important influence on the younger generation it is important for all of this information to be legitimate and truthful. Google and Facebook have recently changed their policies to try to stop fake news articles from popping up within their ad space. The spread of fake news articles skews the public s perception of the candidates. The guardian talks about how the American voter is not just one demographic (college educated individuals, white men, minorities etc. ) because of this lack of (straightforward), it s hard to get an accurate prediction on who would have won the election. When determining whether branded apparel corporations should engage in CSR or not, there are many factors to consider, like questions of economics, legality, and philosophical outlook. From the factors mentioned, philosophical outlooks are extremely subjective and hard to solidify into legitimate reasons, so I will not explore into such domain. • 4. Analysis Of Reservation Blues By Sherman Alexie Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie, is about a group of Native Americans who start a jazz band called Coyote Springs on an Indian Reservation near Spokane Washington. The novel takes us along with the band from start to finish, while they face problems concerning interracial relationships, cultural appropriation and exchange, and shared creativity. In Reservation Blues, their band is able to uniquely tie two historically oppressed cultures together. The first culture involved is Native American culture, as that is the culture of the members of the Coyote Springs band. The second culture involved is Black culture, as jazz was originally contrived from Black culture and is the type of music played by Coyote Springs. Due to the presence of creative property of one culture being used by another culture the concepts of cultural appropriation and cultural exchange come into play. Cultural appropriation is when one culture, often the oppressive culture, borrows elements of another culture, often the oppressed culture, and uses them for their own benefit. Which would be the Native Americans in this story using Jazz from Black culture, however, since both cultures are considered oppressed, this relationship would instead be considered one of cultural exchange. Cultural Exchange is similar to that of cultural appropriation without the element of oppression or dehumanization. In the novel, Alexie portrays the relationship between Native American and Black culture through Coyote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout history, radical change meats two things: a chaotic new era where people suffered, or it meant a prosperous time for the people. During the Russian Revolution, Vladimir Lenin led an uprising with the people to form a communist government. This radical change brought forth a demise to the new Russian society and its people as the new system led them to time of economic depression and poverty. On the other hand, the American Revolution was a radical uprising that would be the start of the United States of America. • 9. The Vietnam War Changed America The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought in America s History, lasting from 1955 to 1973. The Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by becoming the first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated war aims, to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist government. The war also had great effects on the American people. It was the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what happened on the battlefield. One of the chief effects of the war was the division it caused among the people. Not since the Civil War had America been so divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States. Many people to this day still believe that America had no business getting involved in the Vietnam War. It was a very controversial decision made by John. F Kennedy to send over American troops to aid in the battle against communism. The people that supported this decision to participate in the war always said that it would work out better for the United States in the long run. Well, they could not be more wrong. America entering into the vietnam war was the least helpful thing to America in the long run. Simply it took America s self image and through it in the garbage. The Vietnam war, for the Americans, was an unwinnable war. The half a million United States troops as well as the 700,000 southern Vietnamese troops were no match for the 250,000 northern vietnamese troops. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does. Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin, being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. • 11. Race And Social Class Inequality Essay Race+Social Class+Economic Class=Value? As shown throughout history, race and social class have played a large role in determining people s values this is based on the specific culture and the societal values fostered by their environment. In the case of the United States, as a result of the enslavement of people of color, white people were seen to have the most value . The higher up socio economically white people were, the more they were considered valuable. In the 1920 s, racism was still enforced by laws (such as Jim Crow) and this idea of blackness correlating with no value was emphasized by society through segregation and stigma stemming from slavery. One way that people of color went around their race during this time period to escape the prejudice that correlated was through the method of passing as white. This method and its implications can be seen in Nella Larsen s Passing through looking at the characters Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry, who mobilize themselves on each side of the color line. In the novel, Irene and Clare have very different reasons for passing Irene passes for convenience, while Clare passes to alter her lifestyle and identity completely. This shift in identity as a means of changing societal implications aligns with Women on the Market by Luce Irigaray, which sheds light on the idea of the exchange of women. According to Irigaray, women are commodities their value is dependent on their social, economic, and marital statuses. The most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. A Short Note On Thyroid And Parathyroid Glands 1 Stacey Raposa October 11,2014 Module IV Assignment Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands Thyroid The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland with two lobes, one on each side of the trachea, below the level of the larynx. These lobes are connected by a narrow piece of tissue called the isthmus (Johnstone, Farley, Hendry, McLafferty, 2014). The thyroid consists of follicles, which contain follicular cells that synthesize and secrete the thyroid hormones. These hormones are tetra iodothyronine or thyroxine (T4), tri iodothyronine (T3) and calcitonin. The main function of the thyroid gland is to control the body s metabolic rate; however in children it also controls growth and development (Warren, 2014). The thyroid gland is controlled by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which is secreted by the pituitary gland (Warren, 2014). These hormones are produced by an endocrine feedback loop that allows the body to control their release according to need (Hall, 2010). The hypothalamus, which synthesizes and secretes Thyrotrophin releasing hormone (TRH), initiates this loop (Hall, 2010). These hormones can be measured in the blood and are important in diagnosing and managing thyroid disease. Thyroid disease is seen in three forms: under activity (hypothyroidism), over activity (hyperthyroidism) and swelling of the thyroid. Thyroid disease is one of the most common disorders of the endocrine system and is more common in women than men. Hypothyroidism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Natural Disasters And Public Health Of The Affected... Introduction Natural disasters will always cause damage to the infrastructures and public health of the affected communities. Low income countries are the most vulnerable because of a lack of preparation for coping with the displaced population. Displaced populations of vulnerable areas are often subjected to poor sanitation and hygiene practices and inaccessible clean water, both as effects of crowding and being in an unfamiliar environment. It is the primary cause of communicable diseases following natural disasters. Until recently, policy makers were widely under the misconception that disease is spread from bodies. While it is still exaggerated in the media, the main cause of illness and death following disasters is due to an inadequate provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. Preparation by governments and foreign organizations should focus on the sanitation of those displaced in order to address communicable diseases in the short term. Having a strong plan before the disaster can promote sustained WASH practices after disaster recovery and improve long term health. Governments of at risk countries often do not have the resources for integrating WASH and disaster preparation and rely on foreign assistance. Their goal is to identify hazards and risks of likely natural disasters, and take it into account when designing new infrastructure. Hardware like latrines and sanitation facilities should be able to withstand the disaster or be safe to use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. The disconnected thought patterns within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting. Spanish and English are two of the most spoken languages in the world, which have differences and similarities in writing. First, Spanish has a complicated punctuation rule because it uses diacritic acute (´) which can change meaning of words if you don t use it, for example, the words vino (wine in English) and vinó (past tense of the verb come in 3rd. person). In fact, if you don t use diacritic acute correctly, you show your bad education in writing. Another Spanish s punctuation rule is the use of double exclamation and question marks in the beginning and the end of sentences, for example, ¿Qué paso?, ¡Hola! Briefly, in the 1970s, the Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty in most states was unlawful because it was being imposed in a discriminatory fashion. After this ruling, states had to change their death penalty procedures to satisfy the Court that they impose the death penalty fairly (Gale Student Resources in Context). The ruling was revoked later, however, and death penalties have been handed out since then. There are 19 states that have abolished the death penalty within their own state, which areincluding Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and ... • 44. The Roman Medicine Mens sana in corpore sano (Juvenal 10.356). A healthy mind in a healthy body, the Ancient Romans lived by this motto. The Ancient Romans believed that the health of the people was key to success in war and in creating a prosperous empire. Roman texts that have been gathered overtime have greatly influenced modern medical practices and without them, modern medicine would not be as advanced as it is today. The Ancient Romans learned numerous details about the human body and applied their knowledge in ways that were superior compared to other cultures occupying the time period. Roman medicine was advanced for its time because the Romans adopted advanced methods from Ancient Greek medicine, they organized architecture for the sake of public health, and because of their vast knowledge of disease, herbs, and medical tools. The Romans would not have acquired an interest in medicine if it weren t for early Greek influence. Around 500 BC, the Romans and the Greeks first came in contact with each other and by 146 B.C. a large portion of Greece had become a province of the Roman Empire. With the exposure to Greek traditions, the Romans began to obtain information from the Greeks, but only based their own ideas on Greek findings. Greek ideas were considered to be impractical and inferior to Roman ideas, which were always centered on bringing success to the empire. Once the Roman Empire expanded into Greece, many Greek doctors travelled to Rome. The Greeks brought with them new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The American Heritage Book Of Indians Many textbooks attribute modern day democracy to the Europeans who landed on and colonized North America. It s often taken for granted that the Native American people had systems of social and political organizations established long before first contact. The Iroquois Confederacy is an example of such an organization; one of such great significance that its extent and impact can be observed in present day American democracy. On Wednesday September 16, 1987 Congress passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 76 which acknowledged the contribution of the Iroquois Confederacy of Nations to the development of the U.S. Constitution. In the book The American Heritage Book of Indians an introduction from John F. Kennedy states that When we forget great contributors to our American history when we neglect the heroic past of the American Indian we thereby weaken our own heritage. We need to remember the contribution our forefathers found here and from which they borrowed liberally. When Indians controlled the balance of power...the pioneers found that Indians had developed a high civilization with safeguards for ensuring the peace. The League of the Iroquois, inspired Benjamin Franklin to copy it in planning the federation of States. The following thesis will explain what contributions the Iroquois and their Confederacy made to the American form of government in existence today. • 46. Nt1310 Unit 5 Assignment To fulfill the agreed upon task of project administration and management, I write requests for information, review samples, and to distribute documents to the specialty contractors. To create requests for information, we use a system called TeamBuild. Once the document is published, all designers affected by the question are notified, and have a week to respond. TeamBuild streamlines communication and allows for quicker responses. When reviewing samples, I enjoy handling the different materials, and comparing them to the construction documents. Since our architect is in Los Angeles, it takes finite coordination to make all opinions are incorporated. Lastly, whenever a new set of documents is released, it is my job to make sure the affected subcontractors are able to have access the updated information. If I have any questions pertaining the subcontracts, my first contact is always our estimator. A simple question asked over the phone can often transform into a conversation where I am able to learn something new about estimating. I was recently offered to have my internship extended in order to spend a few weeks in the estimating department. Going into my internship I wanted nothing to do with estimating, but now that I see how the different departments work together to create a building, the importance of estimators stands out to me. • 48. Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry... The Use of Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry Eating Written in 1980, Galway Kinnell s Blackberry Eating is a poem which creates a strong metaphoric relationship between the tangible objects of blackberries, and the intangible objects of words. The speaker of the poem feels a strong attraction to the sensory characteristics (the touch, taste, and look) of blackberries. The attraction he feels at the beginning of the poem exclusively for blackberries is paralleled in the end by his appetite and attraction to words. The rush the speaker gets out of blackberry eating is paralleled to the enjoyment he finds in thinking about certain words; words which call up the same sensory images the blackberries embody. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third line states the speaker s purpose. He is going out to eat the blackberries for breakfast. This line shows that the speaker not only has an attraction to the berries aesthetic qualities but also craves them to satiate his appetite. The speaker s appetite for the berries is later paralleled to his appetite for words. In the next line, the speaker describes the stalks of the blackberry bushes as very prickly. This is the first negative image used in association with the blackberries. All the previous images have been positive characteristics of blackberries fat, overripe, icy, and black. Perhaps, this negative image of the prickly stalks is being used to show that along with pleasure invariably comes pain in the natural world. This same idea used in the context of the words suggests the two fold potential of words to both benefit and harm. In the next line, the prickly stalks are attributed as a penalty that they [blackberry bushes] earn for knowing the black art. This imagery of the flowering of the bushes being a black art lends a magical, bewitching quality to the blackberries, an idea that there is something wickedly tempting about the berries. In connecting this idea to the word metaphor, it shows that the ability to tempt and persuade with words can also be a form of black art. In the next line, the speaker talks about standing among the blackberries and lifting the stalks to his mouth where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Rolling Wheels Case Study Rolling wheels The whole industry of cars being advertized to the public by toys, games, shows and so on, have always had this target to consumers (parents) to buy these toys most specifically to their male kids and young adult. This matter gives a social idea that male children had to interact with manly like toys that gave the children there gender role of being a male begging or stating the stage of what your suppose to like as you grow up because of your sex. Respectively being a child, seeing a toy car was something you naturally approached to and were not told nothing if you played with it unless you for some chance tried to play with a doll or play house and were told not to by a parent. There response for restricting you to these other toys was most likely because that s for girls to play I never wondered why there was such restrictions between girl and boy toys; I just knew I had to stick to cars. In my case I may have gotten a response like this in my childhood one day after school playing with the apartment neighbors, girl from school, on the stairwell playing with her toy horse and doll when my mother came out and told me not to play with that to instead bring one of my toys out to play. Toy cars have been in throughout my whole life and have inspired me to pursue a career on what I have come to love most which all started with a toy car I got as a present as a child. The first most significant toy car I got as a child was a new bright remote 1:6 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Previou Experiment 1 Briefly describe the aim(s) of the study The hypothesis of the study, which is explicitly stated in the abstract section was to examine and reject the possibility that change blindness in previous studies resulted from passive viewing of 2 D displays. Hence, testing the hypothesis in the real world would still generate similar results as previous studies have concluded from using still images and motion pictures. Briefly mentioned in the abstract and explicitly stated in the results and discussion part of Experiment 1, the researchers were led to a second hypothesis due to the apparent trend within the collected results from the first experiment. The second hypothesis was that younger subjects considered themselves members of the same social group as the experimenters and older subjects considered the experimenters to be members of an out group. Thus, successful detection depended on social group membership. 2 Indicate whether or not the study was theoretically motivated. Clearly discussed in the abstract and greatly detailed throughout the introduction, the researchers were theoretically motivated by a number of previous laboratory experiments, studies and research findings. • 51. William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy Essay William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy This compact little book is Volume III of a series entitled A History of England, edited by Lacey Baldwin Smith, and its inclusion in this series reveals much about its scope and intent. Smith writes in the Preface to the series that their authors have tried by artistry to step beyond the usual confines of a textbook and conjure up something of the drama of politics, of the wealth of personalities, and even of the pettiness, as well as the greatness, of human motivation. Some of this can be found in The Age of Aristocracy; some of it cannot. William B. Willcox s device for covering the significant people and events of one hundred forty two years in only two hundred thirty seven pages is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Willcox does discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the individual monarchs, but for the most part these kings and queens are spectators; Willcox s real interest is in the politicians, and his book works best when he manages to draw concise and important connections between such men as Marlborough, Chesterfield, Walpole, and North, and the social forces that they harnessed to get their jobs done. Lord Chesterfield, for example, is presented as the epitome of the eighteenth century Gentleman; his letters of advice to his son Philip provide a standard by which Willcox introduces the world of manners and form that provide the background for the rest of the book. What Chesterfield saw was there, says Willcox, the love of form and style and the surface of life (51). Most of these miniature portraits are very effective: Robert Walpole has an entire chapter devoted to his era, and he provides a stable center through which to understand the dizzying political problems of dealing with Hanoverian succession, the creation of British financial empires such as the Bank of England and the South Sea Company, and the intricate relationships between peace, foreign diplomacy, and their effect on British business interests.
