Battelheim Meaning
In the introduction of Bruno Bettelheim s, The Uses of Enchantment, the struggle for meaning is not
just something that the young deal with but people in all stages of life. Bettelheim suggest that our
experiences in life can contribute to our development in understanding the meaning of life. Bettelheim
states that, The child, as he develops, must learn step by step to understand himself better; with this he
becomes more able to understand others, and eventually can relate to them in ways which are mutually
satisfying and meaningful. Bettelheim acknowledges that children s literature should add significance,
adee access to a deeper meaning, stimulate emotions, and enrich a child s life. Bettelheim suggest that
this kind of meaning can be found in fairy tales. Bettelheim quotes the German poet Schiller who
wrote: Deeper meaning resides in the fairy tales told to me in my childhood than in the truth that is
taught by life. Bettelheim believed that fairy tales can be influential at an age. ... Show more content

Bettelheim insists that fairy tales bring awareness, expand a child s imagination, and offer solutions in
a way that a child can understand. In Bettelheim s views, Fairytales are unique, not only as a form of
literature, but as works of art which are fully comprehensible to the child, as no other form of art is. As
with all great art, the fairy tale s deepest meaning will be different for each person, and different for
the same person at various moments in his life. Bettelheim emphasizes that fairy tales have important
meanings but the personal meaning will be different ass it applies to a person s

How To Get Rid Of Today s Fast Paced Lifestyle
There is not any kind of exaggeration in saying this that the at present throughout the whole world the
day to day life of all peoples is of very busy type and the only reason behind this is the today s fast
paced lifestyle as because of which peoples are extremely busy within completion of their personal
responsibilities and official duties that ultimately puts pressure on the mind of the every person which

Anti Federalist Paper Pros And Cons
The Federalist and Anti Federalist papers were created in response to the United States Constitution.
In 1787, the Second Continental Congress called for a federal convention. This meeting in
Philadelphia came to create the U.S Constitution. It originally was held to revise the Articles of
Confederation, but due to the mindsets of many proponents present at the convention, like Alexander
Hamilton and James Madison, and the vision of creating a new government rather than fixing the old
one, the United States Constitution was formed. Once this was sent to congress it was submitted to the
states for ratification. In response, many articles and letters were submitted to the public criticizing the
proposition. These articles and letters are where the Anti Federalist papers are derived from. Although
there was opposition to the Constitution, many were in its favor. In response to these criticizing
papers, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote papers in the constitutions defense.
These were come to be known as the Federalist papers. Two papers in particular, Federalist 51 and
Anti Federalist 51, are written on the topic of checks and balances and how this relates to a separation
of powers within the national government. These arguments were successful due to their primary
points of contention and strong arguments proposed.
The primary point of contention in Federalist 51, written by James Madison, was to support the checks
and balances system in the United States

Granite And Construction Of Granite
Granite The use of granite in the streetscape is primarily in the form of kerbstones that act as a barrier
between paving and road surfaces. Granite kerbs are selected for use because of their durability and
also for their aesthetic qualities. The environmental impacts of obtaining granite are those related to
quarrying and the emissions from transporting a heavy material. Granite is no longer able to be
sourced from the UK in significant quantities for commercial production. Most Granite kerb suppliers
import their products from China while the others obtains its granite from Portugal. There is a
particular environmental concern regarding the emissions associated with importing materials from
such considerable distances. The mode of transport used in these instances is both ship and road
vehicle. One supplier leader has recognised the savings of transporting products by water within the
UK and has converted to transporting its product by water and recorded a reduction of road miles per
shipload with an energy consumption reduction. Although this example states that a conversion to
transportation by ship has meant a reduction in energy consumption it is only related to the relatively
short distance of transportation within the UK. Other concerns regarding exports from developing
countries, such as China, are the poorly controlled environmental and social impacts of quarrying. A

Emma s Self Propelled Downfall
Emma s Self propelled Downfall Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is the story of Emma, a naïve
girl who dreams of having a life, bigger than the one she can ever achieve. Flaubert throughout the
story depicts average members of society with all their faults. Greed, lust, deceit, and incompetence
are the stock in trade of all his characters. The story has no heroes, only losers and fools who waste
their unfulfilled lives. Emma schooled in a convent is desperate to feel the excitement of real love as
she imagines it to be. Emma is married to Charles Bovary, the first man she ever really knows. Charles
is the classic underachiever whose shortcomings plague Emma throughout their marriage. Charles will
never have the position, money, success, or class status she so desperately desires. Marriage, a child,
and respectability cannot assuage her disappointment in herself and her life. She finds solace and
excitement in things she cannot afford and men she cannot resist. Emma has no one to blame but
herself for all her failings. Her ego and sense of entitlement overrides her common sense and allows
her to borrow money that she will never be able to repay. Like an addict without self control, she
continues borrow money and have affairs that never really satisfy her. She hates herself for her
deceptions and constantly fears exposure. Her life becomes a downward spiral of lies and shame that
eventually ends in the coward s solution of suicide. Emma s story begins with Charles

Analysis of the Financial and the Profitability Ratios
1. Current Ratio helps us measure the ability of a company to pay off its short term debts using its
most liquid assets. 1.5 is the benchmark. If it s less than 1 that means the company is not able to meet
its current liabilities using its liquid assets.

(252,900)
Current Ratio 0.90 1.05 1.03 0.86
Interpretation and Explanation
In case of BBC, we can observe a positive trend. There has been a significant increase in the ratio.
However in 2007, the company s current liabilities were higher than the current assets. But over the
next two consecutive years 2008 and 2009, the company s assets were enough to pay off the short
term debts, and this is a positive sign. Talking about the current year 2010, the current ratio is below
the benchmark, but the cash reserves are more. we can see a constant change in the values of current
assets in a positive trend for last three years, however, not for the year 2010. Again there has been
increase in current liabilities substantially. This can be one of the reasons for a funding cut of £340m
this year by BBC as George Osborne confirms the news on Oct 20th 2010.

Essay On Limits Of Matter
The articles When it comes to putting the squeeze on hydrogen, diamonds make the point and
Chemistry group offers seat at periodic table to 4 new elements both define chemical reactions.
Individuals are studying the physics of what the extreme limits of matter might be. Specific evidence
can support the claim. In the first place, the article When it comes to putting the squeeze on hydrogen,
diamonds make the point, this describes the combination of hydrogen and pressure to produce solid
metallic hydrogen, with some research, like how hydrogen is the basic atom. Scientists are trying their
hardest to make solid metallic hydrogen. They hypothesized that it would happen if they pushed the

sum it all up, When it comes to putting the squeeze on hydrogen, diamonds make the point and
Chemistry group offers seat at periodic table to 4 new elements both convey the process of developing
chemical reactions. Scientists are currently studying the physics of what the extreme limits of matter
might be. Both texts have conveyed accurate evidence.

Examples Of Marxism In Bartleby The Scrivener
Immediately then the thought came sweeping across me, what miserable friendlessness and loneliness
are here revealed. His poverty is great, but his solitude, how horrible! This familiar statement
expresses the narrators moral dilemma in Herman Melville s, Bartleby the Scrivener, and the narrator
assumes that Bartleby is affected by his lack of human interaction. In, Bartleby the Scrivener by
Herman Melville demonstrates the idea of Marxism, the idea of alienation of labor. The narrator,
through his fascination of Bartleby, is transformed from a man who like peace in life to a man that
thrives in a capitalist society, into understanding the isolation of capitalism.

It is hard for any artist of any kind to keep everyone amazed by their work, especially in a time when
their work would not be credited as much as it should. When Moby Dick was released Marx had
suffered financial trouble and no exceptional critique for his work. I agree with Marx on the concept
that Melville s wrote this book on the social standards for workers in the late 1800 s, and the
alienation they face. Melville refused to write books that the public desired or what the standards of
writing topics should be in that day of age. According to Marx alienation means, the process whereby
the worker is made to feel foreign to the products of his/her own labor. That s how Melville must have
felt, alienated by the people around him. Melville worked hard to write his books, and wanted the
praise for his work .However the people of Melville s time wasn t ready for his work, and they
isolated the genius behind his work. Melville is like Bartleby, which was fascinated by the narrator at
first because he said, I would prefer not to. When he is asked to do something. This is like Melville
because his work was fascinated at first by many, and then it later was not. Bartleby was an allegory
for Melville but it also foreshadowed Melville s life, the Narrator later figured out Bartleby and what
he stood for.

Immunotherapy Essay
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy has been on an upward trend in cancer treatments recently. By activating the body s
own immune system, immunotherapy puts to use the body s own powerful anticancer mechanisms to
achieve a response against the cancerous cells. Most of the current cancer treatments are non specific
immunotherapy, meaning that they boost the immune system in a more general way and act by
blocking antibodies and T cell receptors. On the other hand, specific immunotherapy targets tumor
antigens on cancer cells. One type of specific immunotherapy is the cancer treatment vaccine. Cancer
treatment vaccines are slightly different from preventative vaccines since they attempt to get the
immune system to attack against the already existing cancer cells in the body. Some cancer vaccines
consist of cancer cells, parts of cells, or pure antigens. However, other ... Show more content on

The ready vaccine is injected into the patient. Vaccines are often combined with other substances or
cells, known as adjuvants, that help boost the immune response even further. They also cause the
immune system to attack cells with one or more specific antigens. Because the immune system has
special cells for memory, it s hoped that the vaccine might continue to work long after it s given.
Major Histocompatibility Complex, Antigens, and T cells
Humans and other vertebrates have adaptive, or specific immunity, which involves the use of T cells
and B cells, classes of white blood cells known as lymphocytes. An antigen is any substance that
causes a response from the T cells or B cells; the binding site of the antigen is called an epitope. While
helper T cells secrete cytokines to promote response, cytotoxic T cells employ toxic proteins to attack
and kill cells infected by virus or pathogens from within the cell itself.

Compare And Contrast Christianity And Islam
There are an estimated two billion people on earth professing to be Christians and follow the teachings
of Jesus and God. An estimated one billion, three hundred million people on earth profess to be
Muslim and follow the teachings of Muhammad and Allah.
(http://www.religionfacts.com/islam/comparison_chartsislam_judaism_christianity.htm) Both are
monotheistic religions, both agree in the existence of prophets, and both religions follow certain
rituals in worshipping their particular God. Christianity and Islam produce the largest number of
devout followers on earth, and when compared are very similar to one another.
Christianity began before Islam in approximately 30 A.D. Christians believe in the existence of one
supreme God, creator of the universe, who remains involved in the events on earth through the actions
of his believers. The Christian theory of creation proposes God created the earth and universe in six
days and rested on the seventh, known as the Sabbath, a day to rest and worship God. Man and
woman were created on the sixth day, named Adam and Eve, and placed in a paradise like location on
earth known as the Garden of Eden. God specifically prohibited them from eating the fruit of a
particular tree from the garden, referred to as the tree of knowledge. Tempted by a serpent, they both
ate the fruit and immediately became aware of human conditions, such as being naked. When God
discovered what they had done he banished them from the garden, leaving the couple to

The Words to Say It by Marie Cardinal
The Words to Say It by Marie Cardinal is an exceptional narrative of a young woman s seven year
journey through psychoanalysis; a journey through which she embarks on an unconquered path to a
successful self discovery. While on that journey, Cardinal regains control over her health and body,
redefines womanhood and femininity, discovers injustices and inequality and gets out of madness.
Cardinal s sensual and artistic writing through colorful metaphors, imagery, poetic language and
sensual descriptions characterizes the heroic triumph from madness.
Cardinal s narration of psychoanalysis treatment is celebrated as one of the best accounts. In the

From this portrayal of psychoanalysis through her prolific writing, one can get a thorough
understanding of the healing power of analysis through writing. The step by step process and
articulate expression of the habit of deep thinking in search of the inner experiences is expressed
clearly. The analysis was a journey of self discovery and Cardinal s transformation is evident from her
zeal for life at the end of the gestation period. Discovering what one is feeling and thinking, through
writing, helps negotiate and tolerate a new psychic space. It is one that is sometimes terrifying but
sometimes exhilarating (DeSalvo, 182). This is true of Cardinal after the analysis; she regained a new
self, free from the bondages that haunted her previous life. She was on a quest to secure her freedom
and truth.
The Words to Say It would be classified as a quest narrative. Frank describes this as a narrative that
tells self consciously of being transformed; undergoing transformation is a significant dimension of
the storyteller s responsibility (118). Cardinal was not the same after the illness and was even better
after going through treatment and finding her voice through writing. Moreover, the quest narrative
affords the ill their most distinctive voice (Frank, 115). Her goals in treatment were very clear from
the onset: to gain control over health and body and to discover self.

These developments in transportation allowed for easier distribution of goods, thus benefitting them as
well. However, the protective tariff prevented the South s economy from growing, thus leading to an
evident economic gap between the North and the South, as the former s economy started to boom due
to the increase in manufacturing. John Randolph argued, The agriculturalists bear the whole brunt of
the war and taxation, and remain poor, while the others run in the ring of pleasure and fatten upon
them (Document 1). The transportation on the other hand, was unwanted by the South due to the vast
plantations that the road and canal systems would interrupt. As economic, social, and political
differences between the country began to be more evident, the government struggled even more to
keep the country as one. In late 1819, Missouri requested for admission into the union as a slave state.
However, the issue between factions of proslavery and antislavery already created high tension within
the Congress, and would worsen if Missouri was accepted as a slave state. Congress found solution in

The Death Penalty And Capital Punishment
The Death Penalty Many people begin their morning with a cup of coffee and the daily news, whether
attained by social media, television, or the radio. News coverage of death penalty cases, grabs the
attention of an audience. The death penalty is an emotional issue for individuals to ponder. In fact,
America s opinion of capital punishment depends on its constitutionality, deterrence, retribution, and
the irrevocable mistakes made by sending an innocent defendant to death row. The death penalty also
known as capital punishment is legal in thirty one states and illegal in nineteen states, to include the
District of Columbia, ( History of, 2015.) There has been 1,418 executions in the United States since
1976, the most recent execution was in Texas on October 2015, ( Executions by, 2015). First, the
Supreme Court sets the perimeters on the legality of the death penalty. Second, consider the pros and
cons of the death penalty as a deterrent to murder and retribution, not revenge, ( Top 10, 2009.) Third,
the lethal injection drugs that are available for some states to use are brought before the U. S. Supreme
court because of the complaint of inmates on death row of the risk of severe pain, ( Lethal Injection,

Theme Of Imagination In A Midsummer Night Dream
A Midsummer s Night Dream by William Shakespeare demonstrates that imagination is an amazing
thing, as it allows the audience to think differently and be unique and form new ideas, concepts and
images. Shakespeare s play uses an immense amount of imagination to help develop the story create
conflicts and complications to engage the audience. Imagination is also used in the way Shakespeare
presents the play to the audience and in the way the characters are presented. Imagination is used a lot
in A Midsummer s Night Dream to help develop the story. An example of Shakespeare using
imagination to help develop the story is when he added fairies to the story which the mortals were
unaware of. This added a completely different aspect to the play as it created more complications and
helped develop the issues they were facing. For example when Oberon and Titania were fighting over
the Indian prince, Oberon ordered Puck his jester to harvest a magical love flower. This love flower
caused Demetrius and Lysander who both loved Hermia to both love Helena instead. This caused a lot
of conflict and confusion and lead Helena to believe that Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia were trying
to make fun of her. Damn it! I see you re all determined to gang up on me for a few laughs.
(Sparknotes, 2003:95) all this drama caused by the fairies helped make for a more interesting play and
developed the storyline of the play even further. Besides Shakespeare using imagination to develop his
storyline, he also utilised a lot of imagination in the way that he presented the play to the audience. An
example of Shakespeare s unique ways of presenting a play was the idea of having the characters in A
Midsummer s Night Dream put on a play within the play. Shakespeare s idea of having a play within
the play showcased and used a lot of imagination. For example, when the craftsmen, who were putting
on the play had limited resources and had to have someone play the part of the wall. Which Pyramus
and Thisbe whom were the main characters in the craftsmen s play would talk through, scenes like this
in the craftsmen s play showcased a lot of imagination. Even though the play that the craftsmen
presented was poorly rehearsed and didn t use many

Nietzsche The Grey Area

AP English Language and Composition
27 October 2017
The Grey Area Around 100 million animals are tested yearly around the world . Scientists willing test
these animals knowing that they are causing them harm but it is accepted because it is helping society
as a whole. What does this say about the people testing the animals; do they have any morality, do
they know what they are doing is wrong or do they feel as though they are doing it for the greater
good? In beef alone, Americans consume around 24.1 billions pounds. Here, America is again though
killing animals for our own use and benefits. Nietzsche believes that there are no morals and that
everything we have been taught is anti natural. Nietzsche implied the morals that people associate
with killing, testing, and eating animals are all antinatural. He stated; as it concerns for its own sake,
and and not out of regard for the concerns, considerations, and contrivances of life, is a specific error
with which one ought to have no pity. (Nietzsche 351) This explains how the people performing these
acts of testing, abuse, eating, and killing are only listening to their animalistic instincts or they know
that what they are doing is for the greater good. Nietzsche continued to explain that people do these
things for the benefit of themselves, Almost every party understands how it is the interest of its own
self preservation, (Nietzsche 348) Scientists test on animals to help the public, we

Analysis Of The Movie Facing Death
Facing Death is a compelling documentary on, oftentimes, the final journey patients and their families
will venture through together in life. The documentary seeks to capture how the patients and their
families respond to the inevitability of death. The film includes families who respond to the issue by
allowing their family member, the patient, to pass through the door of death without aggressive care,
while there are yet other families who insist on everything being done to delay the moment of death.
This topic of fighting death is attributed with producing much debate. On one hand are those who do
not see the point of fighting death, however, on the other hand, there are those who believe that
delaying death and staying alive is what ought to be done. Personally, from what I understand of either
party, I think that I am a part of the later party. In addition, this issue naturally delves into what one
believes occurs after death, as it is an issue dealing directly with death. This also compels me to view
this topic from the viewpoint of the later party. One philosophy that people may take on the topic of
delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should not be delayed beyond reason. From
what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest against emergency care. Rather, I think
that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that may lessen quality of life in the patients.
For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator, but

Online Shopping And Mobile Transactions
INDUSTRY DEFINITION E COMMERCE Today, consumers steadily use multiple devices for online
shopping and mobile transactions rise steeply. The e commerce market has transformed the way
businesses are managed, conducted and executed, locally or globally. Earlier with the Internet, success
in retail was said to be depending on location. But at present, the Internet is said to be a global
marketplace, and have come up with even the tiniest retailer a national if not a global existence. The
span of the e commerce marketplace is tough to measure. The e commerce market has become such a
dynamic part of the economy that is hard to identify precisely where e commerce commences and the
old world economy ends. The e commerce industry made a notable progress in 2014 with goods and
services worth $1.5 trillion bought by consumers via desktops, tablets and smartphones. That is why,
most advertisers are now spending a cumulative part of their marketing resources on Internet
promotion and marketing. The world s leading markets for e commerce are led by the United States,
China, and the United Kingdom. Across the world, the previous years carried a continuous remarkable
growth and progress of retail e commerce all over the world. Revenues increased and had a raise more
than 20% worldwide in 2014 to almost $840 billion, as online retailers are constantly expanding to
new layouts and physical merchants move in to new markets through e commerce One of the leading

Muscular Dystrophy Essay
Muscular Dystrophy
It is only recently that medicine, biology and even health care have become not only a primary
concern of society but also one of the central focuses of mainstream media. Indeed it is rare that a day
goes by without an article on these topics on the cover of newspapers such as The New York Times.
Whereas this type of information used to be reserved for people in the field, daily program s such as
CNN s Your Health have brought the science and the debates around it to the center of our society.
This essay shall focus on one of the most talked about, common and painful genetic disorders. After

However, the disease progresses to the point that the children have difficulty rising from the floor and
have an obvious waddling gait. This decline in motor strength remains linear. The symptoms
accentuate themselves between the age of 3 and 8. On average, functional ability declines rapidly after
age 8. By their 9th year some become confined to the wheelchair and by their 12th year most cannot
remain ambulatory (Clinical pediatric neurology, Pg. 182). Other symptoms include large and rubbery
calf muscles and in Duchenne muscular dystrophy an IQ that is significantly lower than the average,
the mean IQ of affected children being of only 85. More importantly the pelvic weakness that
prevented them from rising from the floor can increase to such a degree that breathing becomes
difficult and some patients can die of chocking.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy has a worldwide distribution, with a mean incidence of 1 per 3,500
male births (Clinical Pediatric Neurology, Pg. 180). The children lead a life ridden with difficulty and
physical pain. While kids their age are seen running around playing, these boys rapidly loose
functional use of their limbs. There are also many other problems associated with muscle wasting. To
be sure that the child has the disease a muscle biopsy is usually done to check for dystrophin levels
and confirm that the child does have DMD and not another disorder. Deterioration of

Research Paper On Imhotep
Imhotep There are many people who made accomplishments in their lives. While studying educational
health, we learned about the father of medicine. His name is Imhotep, and he is an Egyptian. Imhotep
learned in his country medicine where it has valid sources of studying this type of science. Eventually,
he has become familiar among people in Egypt and successful physicist for long years there.
According to Musso, Imhotep studied medicine including a combination of an outstanding empirical
knowledge, and magic explanations. He mastered the human anatomy, and they had exemplary
expertise in the art of applying bandages and the use of sutures (19).

Essay on Opposition to Immigration in 19th and 20th...
Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism is a
main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to be
threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs that we
take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people reacted so
strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our prospering
country. We did not want to become what those immigrants were fleeing. Many economic changes

This was not a single view, but a reflection of how the entire nativist nation felt. Many political
changes were also being made during this abstract time period. Immigrants were new to our elaborate
and tangled web of politics. In fact many nativist Americans didn t understand our political system all
to well. Many people had the conception that immigrants were too half witted to follow American
politics. After all they were not even born here. Immigrants tended to vote in blocks together. In
document 7, according to magazine writer, E.A. Ross thought that foreigners were underhanded and
corrupt. They polluted everything good about our pure and honest political system. Ross gives a clear
exaggeration on how the foreigners managed to change the outcome of an election. From intimidation
at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also the support of the vicious and
criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He contradicts himself at the end by
saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this criminal masterminding to change an
election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not completely understand our political
system. Thats fails to make any sense to me whatsoever. Most immigrants wanted a better future for
their families and that was all. Social changes played a huge role in the nativist campaign against
immigrants. Many changes were occurring in our social

A Short Miniseries Sponsored By Mtv
Tribes, a short miniseries sponsored by MTV, provides a perspective into the island life and the
modern day stigmas that surround HIV in that environment. The series is about a 24 years old young
man named Jamaal, who is a growing radio personality ( J Starr ) in East Trinidad. His larger than life
and activist attitude prompts him to commentate and promote a testing drive to test for HIV in his
local community. After being pressured to get tested himself, Jamaal never went to pick up his results.
Weeks later, his best friend, Dane, kept getting phone calls from the clinic at which Jamaal was tested.
Dane says, I can t have an HIV clinic calling me all hours of the day man. It s ruining my social life,
eh. This indicates a negative connotation associated with HIV clinics.
After Dane dragged Jamaal to the clinic, Jamaal found out he was HIV positive. His sexual partner, a
19 year old girl, Trisha, was leading a double life. Her character is actually fairly interesting. Trisha is
a young, poor Caribbean girl that is using men to get what she needs. She loves Jamaal, but she
entertains Sylvester, an older man known to like young girls, so that Sylvester will pay for a costume
for a local carnival show that happens every year. In the end, it turned out that Sylvester was in the
hospital with HIV, which means that the old man could have transmitted it to Trisha and she could
have transmitted it to Jamaal. Trisha felt the most shame when she went to the hospital to visit

Expectancy refers to what an individual expects or predicts what may happen in an interaction
(Dickter Gyurovski, 2012; Miller Ott Kelly, 2015; Sidelinger Bolen, 2015). Researchers note that
predictive expectancies are what individuals expect in a certain situation based on what generally
happens in a specific context, while prescriptive expectancies are what individuals expect based on the
social norms of what is appropriate (Sidelinger Bolen, 2015; Walther Martin, 2015). Furthermore,
arousal may take place when a person s expectations are violated (Dickter Gyurovski, 2012; Johnson,
2012; West Turner, 2014). Arousal is shown through an increase in interest or attention when
deviations from expectations occur (West Turner, 2014). Threat threshold is the distance at which an
interactant experiences physical and psychological discomfort by the presence of another (West

Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s This Lime Tree Bower My...
Samuel Taylor Coleridge viewed the world in a different light than his peers. He was known as one of
the greatest poets of the Romantic Period, but he had a hard, troubled life and this was reflected in his
poems. Most of his poems were not only made to indulge the reader, but to make the reader think. His
poems were much deeper than just their literal meaning. They invited the reader into Coleridge s heart
and mind. In doing so, the reader learned a different way to view the world and what Coleridge felt.
Many of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s poems include intimate self revelation of the poet by expressing
emotions, thoughts, and using spirituality, such as is seen in This Lime Tree Bower my Prison and

as though he is suffering by not being able to go on the walk. But, then he begins to imagine what the
walk would be like. Through his imagination, he is able to change his emotional state to a happier one.
In doing so, Coleridge comes to a realize that the lime tree bower is not so bad and has its own

Plasma Membrane Lab Report
The Effects of Temperature and Detergent on the Plasma Membrane
Introduction
The Effects of Temperature and Detergent on the Plasma Membrane
Introduction
The fluid mosaic model developed by S.J Singer and Garth Nicolson in 1972 explains the structure of
the membrane. It shows this through the explanation of the phospholipid bilayer which contains
hydrophobic tails and a hydrophilic heads as well as the peripheral and integral proteins which help to
hold the structure. The fluid mosaic model also says how the membrane is in a fluid form rather than
solid because of the constant movement within the membrane (Biology Online, 2008).
The cell membrane is a semi permeable protective layer which protects the cell from the outside
environment by only allowing in and out of the cell only what is needed in order to survive. The cells
that make up the red beetroot contain a compound called betacyanin which is the cause for the red
pigment of the beetroot (Carter Edwards, 2011). The betacyanin is found within the vacuoles of the
cell and is soluble in water (Cellular membrane structure and function, n.d.). The proteins within the
membrane of the cell denature when subjected to high temperatures which causes the membrane to
break apart allowing the betacyanin within the cell to release causing a red pigment to release from the
beetroot. The higher the temperature and the longer at which the beetroot is exposed to it, causes more
pigment to release ( Beetroot Cell

Infant Language Development Essay
The understanding of the world can be defined as the infant s notion of other s and the surrounding.
The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many
experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the world.
Cognitive development of a human being begins during the prenatal period. Consequently, infants do
have a comprehension of the world. Infants are not mindless in fact they are born with the ability to
identify voices, faces, interact and perform metacognition. An infant is preloaded with a system
designed to socially develop completely. They are able to discern their mother tongue since they have
gotten a earful during the prenatal period, similarly with their mothers voices. An experiment was
performed to prove the validity of this. Ninety one infants from French families were tested with
English and Japanese. The infants were on pacifiers that functioned to calculate the times sucked. The
French infants sucking rate when hearing English sentences were higher than hearing Japanese
sentences. Infants can identify a familiar language by listening to the tempo the specific language.

their lives led to downfall, Jocasta and Laius are responsible for their own deaths indirectly, and
Oedipus is responsible for his ruin. Once they commit something, they must admit it like Oedipus
where he admits his responsibility. Also, in the case of Oedipus, he did not find out the correct thing

Verbascum Invasive Species
There are a large number of species that have become, in some way, introduced to areas outside of
their native ranges. Some of these species have large ecological impacts and can even cause economic
problems or harm to people. Other species, however, are less obviously problematic. Attempting to
eradicate even a single invasive species is generally a highly expensive process that can take a very
long period of time. Although one can instead choose to simply suppress a species instead of entirely
eradicating it, even this can take considerable time, money, and energy. Consequently, only invasive
species that clearly cause large problems should be targeted while those that do not seem to be
harmful should be more or less left alone in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There may, however, be a slight risk that these plants could carry diseases that do impact commercial
crops, though it is not always clear if it is actually the same strain (Gross Werner 1978). Again, it does
not seem unlikely that, even if there is a certain risk of disease transmission to other species, that these
pathogens would simply find other hosts. If this is indeed the case, then controlling their spread would
mean an ambitious plan to control the populations of many different plant species, likely including
native ones, and its success or failure would not hinge on the ability to eliminate Verbascum spp. from
the environment. Additionally, mullein has no known negative impacts on human health, so it does not
appear to pose any direct problems for humans (Gross Werner 1978). Of course, invasive species also

Bill C 51 And The Canadian Security Intelligence Services...
As a consultant for Ontario works, the following is an overview of Bill C 51 and includes issues and
recommendations for improvement. Bill C 51 the so called terror bill, is a controversial political Act
that is being proposed under Harper s Conservative government. This is an Anti terrorism Act that is
causing much argument among Canadians and is promoted as intending to increase security on
terrorists who plan to attack Canadians on soil. According to Bill C 51 (2015), The purpose of this Act
is to encourage and facilitate the sharing of information among Government of Canada institutions in
order to protect Canada against activities that undermine the security of Canada (p. 4). However, there
are many implications for all Canadian citizens that need to be taken seriously into consideration. Bill
C 51 is promoting a broader and stronger power to the police, the Canadian Security Intelligence
Services (CSIS), and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) without protection of the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms and without and/or limited monitoring and oversight of activity (Bill
C 51, 2015).
For example, according to Bill C 51, a lot more discretion has been promoted to police to carry out
something called preventive detention. Ordinarily, for so called normal offences (e.g., drunk driving,
assault, etc.) arrest can only take place where an officer believes there are reasonable grounds to
believe an offence has been or will be carried out. Now, under

Comparison Of Nihilism In The West And Persia
On the other hand, the comparison between the nihilism in the West and its counterpart in Persia
shows us both of them were a reaction toward the situation of the time. In the West, nihilism was a
reaction that was created in response of great changes both in ideologies and in industraliaism. Indeed,
ideologies such as capitalism and individualism reinforced the creation and the spread of nihilism.
However, in Persia, nihilism was an imported ideology and a reaction that was created as a result of
the foreigner s invasions. While it was usually suppressed through using appropriate literature and
social movements such as Tasawwuf (the Sufism), in recent years, it found its way in the Persian
society and showed itself in the contemporary literary

Essay on Custom Painting Cars
The first thing you see when you get into the car, and the last thing you see when you get out. Painting
cars is an art, from stock to custom paint there is a lot of possibilities and techniques. Something some
people don t pay attention to and some people its the first thing they look at, and some people make
their living by painting cars. In this research paper i will talk about painting and certain various types
of custom painting techniques. Painting a car is a good way to make it unique and special to you.
When you go to buy a car, whether at a car lot or from someone else you will notice the cars paint job.
It may be a solid colour or something a little special and unique. At the surface it may just look like a
solid color but in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polishing helps the paint shine and helps it better protect the paint. Never wash a car after painting
make sure to buff it and polish before you wash it.
When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used on
a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car is
one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones you
can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so that the
colors don t look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye without realizing the strip is
there.
When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will
mask over it leaving the unsprayed area to view. Then you spray the next color of choice. Once the
last layer has dried take the paper off the panel and clear over the whole thing. If you plan to spray a
Strip in between you can must do this before clear coating the hole panel. Wood Grain is something
that was started a long time ago with wood grain cars. Painting wood grain is a good way to bring
back that vintage wood grain look. There are many ways to do wood grain and here are some. One of
the most used ways is to spray a brown then your base color over it, take your finger and

Interracial Relationships Essay
Interracial Relationships For centuries human beings have been on a quest for love. As time has
passed, this search has lead to mixing of races and resulted in interracial relationships, both long term
couples and casual dating. An interracial relationship is defined by the Webster dictionary as
intimacies between two people of different races. I had no idea when I immigrated to the U.S in 1996,
I would fall in love with a black girl, said Dirk Schwartz. Immigration has boosted the number of
interracial relationships by increasing the chances of meeting people from different culture and racial
backgrounds. Schwartz, a 28 year old investment broker, grew up in Berlin, the biggest city in
Germany, where he and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 2050, the immigrant population is expected to grow by 13%, up from the current rate of 10%,
drastically impacting the interracial relationships. Being in an interracial relationship has taught me to
be considerate of other cultures, said Schwartz. Thirty seven years ago, interracial dating and
marrying, which is now on the rises throughout the United States, was banned by 19 states. Back then
interracial couples like * Lenny Wilson and *Amy Lynn, would be shunned, jailed or killed. In 1967
the Supreme Court ruled in the case Loving v. Virginia that laws against interracial marriages, dating
back to 1661, were unconstitutional. States like South Carolina and Alabama ignored the Supreme
Courts decisions. In 1998, 103 years later, South Carolina finally lifted the ban on interracial
marriages. It would take Alabama two more years to remove its ban. Wilson, a black 25 year old male,
and his 23 year old white girlfriend, Amy, have lived together for the last seven years. The couple has
three kids, 5 year old Alexander, 4 year old Noah and 2 year old Caleb. I think my children are
gorgeous, and are blessed, because they are bi racial, said Lynn. Wilson and Lynn went to the same
high school and were introduced by Wilson s sister. They also lived in the towns next to each other.
The breakdown of segregation made it possible for relationships like theirs

The resulting Maastricht Treaty was a series of agreements designed to bring political, economic, and
social unity to Europe by 1993, and a common foreign and defence policy as well as a single currency
by the end of the decade (Frankel 2002). It created the European Union and led to the creation of the
euro.

3.4 The Euro
The European Union introduced this new currency on January 1, 1999, christening it the euro (€). The
actual euro currency and coins began circulation in 2002. For the interim period, transactions were
carried out in either euros or the former national currencies of the member states. (Mcgrady 2009)

Sixteen of the twenty seven member states of the European Union have adopted the euro (€) (Anon, B.
2009). Consequently the euro is used daily by some 327 million Europeans (Anon, E. 2009). It has
developed a limited role in foreign policy, having representation at the WTO, G8 summits, and at the
UN (Anon, E. 2009).

Bettelheim acknowledges that children s literature should add significance, adee access to a deeper meaning, stimulate emotions, and enrich a child s life. • 4. Anti Federalist Paper Pros And Cons The Federalist and Anti Federalist papers were created in response to the United States Constitution. In 1787, the Second Continental Congress called for a federal convention. This meeting in Philadelphia came to create the U.S Constitution. It originally was held to revise the Articles of Confederation, but due to the mindsets of many proponents present at the convention, like Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, and the vision of creating a new government rather than fixing the old one, the United States Constitution was formed. Once this was sent to congress it was submitted to the states for ratification. In response, many articles and letters were submitted to the public criticizing the proposition. These articles and letters are where the Anti Federalist papers are derived from. Although there was opposition to the Constitution, many were in its favor. In response to these criticizing papers, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote papers in the constitutions defense. These were come to be known as the Federalist papers. Two papers in particular, Federalist 51 and Anti Federalist 51, are written on the topic of checks and balances and how this relates to a separation of powers within the national government. These arguments were successful due to their primary points of contention and strong arguments proposed. The primary point of contention in Federalist 51, written by James Madison, was to support the checks and balances system in the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Granite And Construction Of Granite Granite The use of granite in the streetscape is primarily in the form of kerbstones that act as a barrier between paving and road surfaces. Granite kerbs are selected for use because of their durability and also for their aesthetic qualities. The environmental impacts of obtaining granite are those related to quarrying and the emissions from transporting a heavy material. Granite is no longer able to be sourced from the UK in significant quantities for commercial production. Most Granite kerb suppliers import their products from China while the others obtains its granite from Portugal. There is a particular environmental concern regarding the emissions associated with importing materials from such considerable distances. The mode of transport used in these instances is both ship and road vehicle. One supplier leader has recognised the savings of transporting products by water within the UK and has converted to transporting its product by water and recorded a reduction of road miles per shipload with an energy consumption reduction. Although this example states that a conversion to transportation by ship has meant a reduction in energy consumption it is only related to the relatively short distance of transportation within the UK. Other concerns regarding exports from developing countries, such as China, are the poorly controlled environmental and social impacts of quarrying. There has been a significant increase in the ratio. However in 2007, the company s current liabilities were higher than the current assets. But over the next two consecutive years 2008 and 2009, the company s assets were enough to pay off the short term debts, and this is a positive sign. Talking about the current year 2010, the current ratio is below the benchmark, but the cash reserves are more. we can see a constant change in the values of current assets in a positive trend for last three years, however, not for the year 2010. When Moby Dick was released Marx had suffered financial trouble and no exceptional critique for his work. I agree with Marx on the concept that Melville s wrote this book on the social standards for workers in the late 1800 s, and the alienation they face. Melville refused to write books that the public desired or what the standards of writing topics should be in that day of age. According to Marx alienation means, the process whereby the worker is made to feel foreign to the products of his/her own labor. That s how Melville must have felt, alienated by the people around him. Melville worked hard to write his books, and wanted the praise for his work .However the people of Melville s time wasn t ready for his work, and they isolated the genius behind his work. Melville is like Bartleby, which was fascinated by the narrator at first because he said, I would prefer not to. When he is asked to do something. • 20. Theme Of Imagination In A Midsummer Night Dream A Midsummer s Night Dream by William Shakespeare demonstrates that imagination is an amazing thing, as it allows the audience to think differently and be unique and form new ideas, concepts and images. Shakespeare s play uses an immense amount of imagination to help develop the story create conflicts and complications to engage the audience. Imagination is also used in the way Shakespeare presents the play to the audience and in the way the characters are presented. Imagination is used a lot in A Midsummer s Night Dream to help develop the story. An example of Shakespeare using imagination to help develop the story is when he added fairies to the story which the mortals were unaware of. This added a completely different aspect to the play as it created more complications and helped develop the issues they were facing. For example when Oberon and Titania were fighting over the Indian prince, Oberon ordered Puck his jester to harvest a magical love flower. This love flower caused Demetrius and Lysander who both loved Hermia to both love Helena instead. This caused a lot of conflict and confusion and lead Helena to believe that Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia were trying to make fun of her. Damn it! I see you re all determined to gang up on me for a few laughs. (Sparknotes, 2003:95) all this drama caused by the fairies helped make for a more interesting play and developed the storyline of the play even further. Besides Shakespeare using imagination to develop his storyline, he also utilised a lot of imagination in the way that he presented the play to the audience. An example of Shakespeare s unique ways of presenting a play was the idea of having the characters in A Midsummer s Night Dream put on a play within the play. Shakespeare s idea of having a play within the play showcased and used a lot of imagination. For example, when the craftsmen, who were putting on the play had limited resources and had to have someone play the part of the wall. One philosophy that people may take on the topic of delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should not be delayed beyond reason. From what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest against emergency care. Rather, I think that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that may lessen quality of life in the patients. For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator, but ... • 24. Online Shopping And Mobile Transactions INDUSTRY DEFINITION E COMMERCE Today, consumers steadily use multiple devices for online shopping and mobile transactions rise steeply. The e commerce market has transformed the way businesses are managed, conducted and executed, locally or globally. Earlier with the Internet, success in retail was said to be depending on location. But at present, the Internet is said to be a global marketplace, and have come up with even the tiniest retailer a national if not a global existence. The span of the e commerce marketplace is tough to measure. The e commerce market has become such a dynamic part of the economy that is hard to identify precisely where e commerce commences and the old world economy ends. The e commerce industry made a notable progress in 2014 with goods and services worth $1.5 trillion bought by consumers via desktops, tablets and smartphones. That is why, most advertisers are now spending a cumulative part of their marketing resources on Internet promotion and marketing. The world s leading markets for e commerce are led by the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism is a main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to be threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs that we take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people reacted so strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our prospering country. We did not want to become what those immigrants were fleeing. Many people had the conception that immigrants were too half witted to follow American politics. After all they were not even born here. Immigrants tended to vote in blocks together. In document 7, according to magazine writer, E.A. Ross thought that foreigners were underhanded and corrupt. They polluted everything good about our pure and honest political system. Ross gives a clear exaggeration on how the foreigners managed to change the outcome of an election. From intimidation at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also the support of the vicious and criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He contradicts himself at the end by saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this criminal masterminding to change an election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not completely understand our political system. The series is about a 24 years old young man named Jamaal, who is a growing radio personality ( J Starr ) in East Trinidad. His larger than life and activist attitude prompts him to commentate and promote a testing drive to test for HIV in his local community. After being pressured to get tested himself, Jamaal never went to pick up his results. Weeks later, his best friend, Dane, kept getting phone calls from the clinic at which Jamaal was tested. Dane says, I can t have an HIV clinic calling me all hours of the day man. It s ruining my social life, eh. This indicates a negative connotation associated with HIV clinics. After Dane dragged Jamaal to the clinic, Jamaal found out he was HIV positive. His sexual partner, a 19 year old girl, Trisha, was leading a double life. Her character is actually fairly interesting. Trisha is a young, poor Caribbean girl that is using men to get what she needs. She loves Jamaal, but she entertains Sylvester, an older man known to like young girls, so that Sylvester will pay for a costume for a local carnival show that happens every year. He was known as one of the greatest poets of the Romantic Period, but he had a hard, troubled life and this was reflected in his poems. Most of his poems were not only made to indulge the reader, but to make the reader think. His poems were much deeper than just their literal meaning. They invited the reader into Coleridge s heart and mind. In doing so, the reader learned a different way to view the world and what Coleridge felt. • 32. Plasma Membrane Lab Report The Effects of Temperature and Detergent on the Plasma Membrane Introduction The Effects of Temperature and Detergent on the Plasma Membrane Introduction The fluid mosaic model developed by S.J Singer and Garth Nicolson in 1972 explains the structure of the membrane. It shows this through the explanation of the phospholipid bilayer which contains hydrophobic tails and a hydrophilic heads as well as the peripheral and integral proteins which help to hold the structure. The fluid mosaic model also says how the membrane is in a fluid form rather than solid because of the constant movement within the membrane (Biology Online, 2008). The cell membrane is a semi permeable protective layer which protects the cell from the outside environment by only allowing in and out of the cell only what is needed in order to survive. The cells that make up the red beetroot contain a compound called betacyanin which is the cause for the red pigment of the beetroot (Carter Edwards, 2011). The betacyanin is found within the vacuoles of the cell and is soluble in water (Cellular membrane structure and function, n.d.). The proteins within the membrane of the cell denature when subjected to high temperatures which causes the membrane to break apart allowing the betacyanin within the cell to release causing a red pigment to release from the beetroot. The higher the temperature and the longer at which the beetroot is exposed to it, causes more pigment to release ( Beetroot Cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Infant Language Development Essay The understanding of the world can be defined as the infant s notion of other s and the surrounding. The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the world. Cognitive development of a human being begins during the prenatal period. Consequently, infants do have a comprehension of the world. Infants are not mindless in fact they are born with the ability to identify voices, faces, interact and perform metacognition. An infant is preloaded with a system designed to socially develop completely. They are able to discern their mother tongue since they have gotten a earful during the prenatal period, similarly with their mothers voices. An experiment was performed to prove the validity of this. Ninety one infants from French families were tested with English and Japanese. The infants were on pacifiers that functioned to calculate the times sucked. The French infants sucking rate when hearing English sentences were higher than hearing Japanese sentences. Bill C 51 the so called terror bill, is a controversial political Act that is being proposed under Harper s Conservative government. This is an Anti terrorism Act that is causing much argument among Canadians and is promoted as intending to increase security on terrorists who plan to attack Canadians on soil. According to Bill C 51 (2015), The purpose of this Act is to encourage and facilitate the sharing of information among Government of Canada institutions in order to protect Canada against activities that undermine the security of Canada (p. 4).
