Similarities Between Gladstone And Benmin Disraeli
The United Kingdom is one of the most powerful nations during the Victorian era, and its Empire now
spreads all over the continents. The second half of the 19th Century could potentially be analysed
through the foreign policy of the two main political figures at the time: William Ewart Gladstone and
Benjamin Disraeli. Both are ambitious, charismatic leaders, and both were several times elected as
British Prime Ministers. The following texts, which we will analyse, represent both parties: firstly, W.
E Gladstone s speech to the House of Commons on May 1877, on the debate concerning the Eastern
Question, and secondly Benjamin Disraeli s speech at the Crystal Palace concerning the maintenance
of the Empire on June 24, 1872. Both texts aim to convince ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is known that Mr Gladstone, as a liberal, defends free trade. Although this aspect is not brought up
in his speech, a reference is made in Mr Disraeli s speech. Mr Disraeli says, (L.8): it has been proved
to all of us that we have lost money in colonies. and explains that this argument has been used by his
political opponents as a justification to disintegrate (l.32) the empire. Although, as previously
explains, Mr Disraeli s concedes that the colonies are in need of reform, it is only an argumentative
tactic to strengthen his own argument. The Tories are aware of the weakness of the colonies, and are
prepared to act upon it. It is only a matter of reform, easily solved if resolved by the right person, as
Mr Disraeli implies in his speech with his detailed solutions. To him, the economic weaknesses of
colonies are not relevant arguments to justify the reduction of the colonial empire. Moreover, Mr
Disraeli clearly expresses his economic protectionist ideas, by mentioning the necessity of
implementing an imperial tariff (l.19), an interesting opposition to the liberal notion of free trade.
Colonies are an economic disadvantage for the Liberal Party, but Mr Disraeli showed us a different
aspect which only aided him to develop his protectionist

Analysis Of Sears Holding Company ( Shld )
Introduction Sears Holding Company (SHLD) was once a very successful organization. Prior to the
1980 s, SHLD managed to generate revenue and compete among the top retailers in America (Kim,
2014). However, in more recent years, SHLD has become subject to scrutiny among industry s critics.
As of late, SHLD has made several attempts to revive their organization. These attempts involve
SHLD implementing corporate, business and functional leveled strategies within their organization.
Corporate Level Strategies Every organization needs to create corporate level strategies. Corporate
level strategies help organizations create plans and methods that will allow them to grow, no matter
how the economy changes (Latham, 2014). SHLD used two different corporate level strategies to help
them increase revenue and cut costs. The first corporate strategy used by SHLD is horizontal
integration mergers. This strategy involved SHLD merging with K Mart. K mart decided to merge
with Sears in 2004, in hopes that both stores can gain an competitive advantage over rival retail giants.
Both SHLD and K Mart thought that they would be better suited to compete against Lowes and Home
Depot; this is due to their potential inventory increase and availability from the merger. While merging
seemed to open doors for both SHLD and K Mart, there was still a need for retrenchment.
Retrenchment was used by SHLD once the merger as complete, this involved store closures and
laying off employees at various Sears

Risk Management Plan For A Risk Assessment
The goal of a risk assessment is to figure out all of the risks and vulnerabilities there are, or could
possibly be within a business. The goal of a risk management plan is to then figure out how to
mitigate those risks and vulnerabilities to lessen the impact on the business if ever one should arise.
Creating a plan helps not only to identify any risks, but also helps to choose the best solutions
available to mitigate those risks. If a risk management plan is not created and implemented, there is
greater chance of failure.
The purpose of this risk assessment plan is to update the existing out of date risk management plan.
The scope of the plan will include:

Critical Analysis of a Published Article Essay
APPROACHES TO STUDY WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT (INTENSIVE) Assignment
1: Critical analysis of a published article (1000 words) Saturday 10th October 2009 By Joana Wong
This critical analysis is about an article that argues whether drugs should be legalized or not. It was
published in The Observer, on Sunday the 6th of September 2009 and it is entitled Latin America s
backlash against US war on drugs by Ed Vulliamy in Tijuana, Rory Carroll in Caracas, Annie Kelly in
Buenos Aires and Tom Phillips in Rio de Janeiro. It is a lengthy article, written in a Sunday newspaper
for a well educated and informed audience. It is evident that the reporter has researched the subject
well, for example he starts the article with and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that South America is demanding a partnership instead of the subjugation that hallmarked
former US presidencies, saying that not only is their interdiction policy failing, but it is also a pretext
for Washington interference. At the same time he highlights reasons for scepticism such as: some
drugs are addictive after one single hit; if possession is legal, it will enhance the domestic market, and
above all, drugs kill and destroy lives and legalizing them will make them more accessible to people. I
was impressed by this article mainly because of the emotive terminology used throughout by the
author such as murderers , serious heroin and crack users , destroyed , incarcerated , brutal ,
catastrophic , bloodshed , etc., secondly, the factual content is indisputable drawing on a wide range of
examples of escalating violence in different countries in Latin America, like the killing of 40 people
over three days in Juarez,... take the death toll to about 1,400 this year and thousands of people die
every year in Rio de Janeiro in clashes between police and traffickers. He also mentions that the use of
paco cocaine paste increased by more than 200% between 2001 and 2005, which proves US policy of
prohibition is not working. The article seems to be biased pointing out many reasons for the
decriminalisation of drugs in particular

USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War Essay
USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War
The USA had a colossal hatred for the strong spread of communism that seemed to sweep across
Eastern Asia. Although Vietnam, part of Indochina in South East Asia was many thousands of miles
away from the USA, due to obsessive paranoia and the threat of its national interest, America felt
threatened adequately enough to fight a war there. The USA s suspicion that the communists were
taking over the world was exceptionally strong. Their explanation for their most paranoid attitude lay
in the Korean War, the communist take over of China, the Cold War and also the communist success
over the French in Vietnam. The USA remained indirectly involved until 1965. ... Show more content

The earlier policy of isolationism was now over; containment was underway and it hoped to put an
end to the spread. The USA was determined that no more countries were to turn communist. Also The
Marshall Plan was set up. Marshall aid was offered to many countries including communist ones. The
aid included goods, loans, food and advisers. By helping communist countries also, it could perhaps
advise and persuade the benefits of capitalism, so not only was the USA using the method of
containment, they were attempting to switch those countries already made communist.
1949 was a appalling year for the USA. The USA was no longer the only nuclear power as the USSR
had exploded its very own atom bomb. Also, although the USA has spent around $2 billion supporting
anti communist countries China had become communist. This worried America immeasurably.
The Vietminh, regardless of assistance from China, were forced back from 1950 1951 when General
De Lattre De Tassigny inflicted a series of defeats on the Vietminh. The USA supported the French as
their opponents were communists. If the French won, Vietnam wouldn t be communist. The USA
began becoming indirectly involved by providing financial aid; $500 million a year was put into the
French war effort. Also the USA helped the French set up a non communist government in the south
of the country.

Ethical Considerations Of Ethical Decision Making
Including Ethical Considerations in Decision Making (Summary) This sections starts with how
decisions can affect ethical behavior. Most people have unconsciously developed a decision making
process in situations such as a workplace or in their personal life. The steps of decision making are as
follows: Developing a problem statement, identifying alternatives, evaluating and choosing
alternative, implementing decisions, and evaluating results. If any of those steps does not result as a
success, then the decision making process is repeated until it is successful. Analysis This section
focuses on the steps of decision making through the following steps: problem statement, identify
alternatives, evaluate and choose alternative, implement decisions, and evaluating results. It also
focuses on how decision making can be beneficial to people s lives. Development of a problem
statement is most crucial for making a decision. For developing a problem statement, a clear, concise
description of an issue is needed in order to make a decision. The questions of analyzing a problem
statement are as follows: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Philosophers have developed the following approaches to aid in ethical decision making: Virtue ethics
approach, utilitarian approach, fairness approach, and the common good approach. The Virtue ethics
approach focuses on how people should behave and think about relationships in a community. The
utilitarian approach considers how any action or policies implemented should have the best overall
consequences for people who are directly affected. The fairness approach focuses on how actions and

The Hiding Place Corrie Ten Boom Quotes
The book, The Hiding Place, is a biography on Corrie Ten Boom and her family s struggles during the
Holocaust. The book takes place before World War I through World War II. Corrie and her family
lived in the Netherlands in the time of the Holocaust where they owned a build and repair shop for
watches. She had two sisters named Betsie and Nollie, and one brother named Willem. Her father did
most of the work with the watch shop, and her mother died when she was a little girl. In 1940 when
the Nazis started invading the Netherlands, they would often find people praying in their shop because
they were scared. The Ten Boom family begins taking in Jews and giving them a place to hide from

This book had a lot to do with religion because people were scared and looked to God for answers. A
quote that I believe goes with this is one from Corrie where she says , Lord Jesus, You were called to a
hearing, too. Show me what to do. (Page 118 of Chapter 11) This reiterates that she was looking to
God on what she should do. A theme that branches off of religion was faith. Faith played a very
important role throughout the book, from normal practices of faith in the beginning of the book to
Corrie using faith to keep strong in the labor camps. One quote that I feel describes this is, But if God
has shown us bad times ahead it s enough for that he knows about them. That s why he sometimes
shows us things you know, to tell us that this too is in his hands, (page 50 of Chapter 5) This quote
shows that Corrie has faith in God that he has it all under control. All in all, I enjoyed reading this
book a lot. It showed me a lot of different side of the Holocaust that I previously did not know. I think
the best way to prevent terrible events from history from happening again is to learn more about them,
and I believe this book does a great job in teaching the hardships and truths about what happened

Immigration Is A Major Issue
Immigration is a major issue in the 2016 presidential election. Millions of undocumented immigrants
live in the U.S. and border agents spend so much time apprehending illegal immigrants that agencies
cannot focus on criminal and terrorist threats. The growing awareness that our immigration system is
dysfunctional has affected the candidate s position on the issue. The candidates I have chosen to
highlight are Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump and Libertarian Gary Johnson.
Hillary Clinton, Democratic candidate stated: We have to finally and once and for all fix our
immigration system this is a family issue. It s an economic issue too, but it is at heart a family issue. If
we claim we are for family, then we have to pull together and resolve the outstanding issues around
our broken immigration system. The American people support comprehensive immigration reform not
just because it s the right thing to do and it is but because it will strengthen families, strengthen our
economy, and strengthen our country. That s why we can t wait any longer, we can t wait any longer
for a path to full and equal citizenship. (https://www.hillaryclinton.com)
Clinton promises she will work to ensure a fair and just immigration system. She is fighting for an
America where every family has a sense of belonging. She believes it is important to keep families
together and ensure a more human immigration enforcement system instead of breaking up

The Effects Of Antidepressant Pills On Teenagers And...
Jacqueline Mendez
Mrs. Kehrmeyer
AP English
9 February 2016
Teenagers and Antidepressants In recent discussions of antidepressant pills a controversial issue has
been whether doctors should prescribe antidepressants to teenagers. Antidepressant pills are prescribed
to
individuals who suffer from a condition called Major Depression Disorder, labeled MDD for
abbreviation. Major Depressive Disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and
persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self esteem and by loss of interest or pleasure in
normally enjoyable activities. The objectives of antidepressant pills are to stabilize, and
normalize the abnormal low levels of brain chemicals for those who suffer from MDD. On the
other hand, some argue that antidepressants are harmful and do a disadvantage to teenagers,
therefore should not be prescribed to them. However, others argue that the pills are not harmful
and in some cases the strong need of antidepressants outweigh the risks the pills might provide.
Antidepressants prevent teenagers from recuperating on their own and prevents them from
learning how to cope with conflicts thus, they should not be prescribed.
Depression results in symptoms such as sadness, it affects a person s emotions and leads
to both emotional and physical problems. The antidepressant pills are meant to help the brain
recuperate and adjust to normality. The reason why people reconsider taking the pills in the first
place is

The Invention Of Designer Babies
Introduction
Throughout the world, the potential to genetically modify embryos has created controversy whether
this procedure if morally correct. Designer babies have been created by screening embryos for genetic
diseases. However, Designer babies has also been used to contain selected desired qualities such as
eye colour, hair colour and skin complexion. The question remains, where is the line drawn for
designer babies?
In Vitro Fertilisation
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a procedure in which eggs (ova) from a woman s ovary are removed. In
a laboratory procedure, they are fertilised with a sperm, and then the fertilized egg (embryo) is
returned to the woman s uterus. (Medicine, 2007) IVF is a process in which the egg is fertilised
outside of the body (as seen in figure 1). IVF is not the only assisted reproductive technology,
however, is the most commonly known and most successful. Other assisted reproductive technologies
include: Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI), Hormonal therapy for men or surgery. Conception using
IVF includes the following biological process:
Stimulating the ovaries, where the female is given hormones to produce more eggs each cycle the
enable the collection of multiple eggs. Collecting the eggs occurs by placing an ultrasound probe in
the uterus. The ultrasound will show where the follicles are within the ovaries. A needle is then passed
through the uterus wall and into the ovaries. Each follicle is pierced to collect the egg inside.

The biggest challenge that they face as a company is they do not have the room the increase
expenditure by such a vast amount. Currently there is $3,675,000 in promotional dollars allocated as
follows; sales and administration expense (995,000), cooperative advertising programs with retailers
(1,650,000), consumer advertising (562,000) and trade promotion (467,000). adding the $225,000
increase in consumer advertising will not allow the 5% of expected sales for total promo expenditures.
John Bott, the vice president of sales disagreed with the budget allocation and noted that sales
expenses and administration cost were projected to be $65,000 in 2008. This led him to believe that an
additional sales representative would be needed to service company accounts because 50 were being
added. Therefore he estimated this addition would cost at least $70,000 including salary and expenses
in 2008. Bott also stated that That s about $135,000 in additional sales expense that have to be added
to our promotional budget for 2008
My recommendation is that they do not invest the additional $225,000 in consumer advertising.
Considering the additional amount will only be going into magazines which do not provide enough
incentive for a purchase decision from the buyer. I believe that Haverwood should allocate the amount
50/50 and invest half

Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Lady With The Dog
For Goodness Sake, Have Faith in Humanity
Humans have a natural ability to know what is right and just and what is wrong. However, people are
tempted on a regular basis, and often times people choose to go against what is right for what they
want at the moment. Nathaniel Hawthorne describes the struggle of one man with his personal
temptations in the short story, Young Goodman Brown . Through a trip into the woods on a dark,
gloomy night, Young Goodman Brown battles between what he knows is right and what sparks his
curiosity what the others and doing in the woods the same theme portrayed in Anton Chekhov s The
Lady with the Dog. In this short story, Young Goodman Brown loses his faith in humanity s ability to
do good when he is convinced the great lie by the dark one . Young Goodman Brown (YGB) is
tempted by the devil throughout the story to remind the reader what is feeding the lie to him. The dark
one is an allegory to the devil, dressed darkly with a serpent shaped staff. Young Goodman Brown
discusses why he thinks he is making a mistake when the dark one tells him that it is okay to go into
the woods because his father and grandfather both did before him. This statement by the traveller
begins a whirlwind of a mixture of lie and truth, confusing Young Goodman Brown. While he is
tempted with the concept of everybody s doing it, the reader realizes that just because others before us
have made mistakes does not mean the mistakes are justifiable for us to

Self Actualization In Hamlet
According to Maslow s hierarchy of needs, basic necessities, such as food, water, and shelter must be
obtained before beginning the process of self actualization. Self actualization is a hard concept to
explain, especially if one has not experienced it. Throughout his life, the intelligent reader must
distinguish what self actualization is, as well as how to actively engage in it. This involves asking
oneself questions, such as Who am I? or Why am I here? , and not responding with a rehearsed
interview answer that everyone has prepared at some point in their life. The process of self
actualization involves thinking about what happens, if anything, after death. Is there an afterlife, or are

In the beginning of the story, Meursault is unnerved by his mother s death and quickly moves along in
his life. In fact, Meursault seems unemotional during most of the book. The existentialist part of
Meursault finds it difficult to know what love is. For example, when Marie asks if Meursault loves
her, he replies that [love] didn t mean anything but that [he] didn t [think] so (Camus 35). This lends
itself to the question of what love actually is. Is love spending time with people you care about, or is it
a myth that society has taught us to believe in? Meursault would argue the latter as his relationships
with both his mother and Marie don t involve much emotion. Another instance in which Meursault
exhibits existentialist behavior is when he shoots the Arab on the beach. What drives Meursault to
shoot is not the Arab drawing his knife, but rather the intense sun and the sweat running down his
face. During the days after the shooting, Monsieur Meursault doesn t understand why he needs an
attorney. It is easy for him to understand; he commits a murder, and he is ready to face the
consequences for his actions. There s a lot of meaning hidden in the novel s title. Part of the
existentialist attitude is the idea of alienation, and Meursault is essentially a stranger to the world
around him. He never truly has a solid relationship, whether it be with his family, his

Animal Farm Dishonest Analysis
At the beginning of Animal Farm all of the animals are equal and must follow the same rules together.
As this book goes on the pigs end up separating themselves from the other animals and become more
human like in numerous ways. As the pigs evolve, they start to adopt the same characteristics the
humans have such as being very selfish, dishonest, and having no loyalty. At the beginning of the
story Mr. Jones was very selfish towards the animals. He would work the animals very hard and only
give them enough rations to survive and keep working. Later in the book when Napoleon was in
charge he was very selfish towards the animals in the same way. The lower animals on Animal Farm
did more work and received less food (Orwell 136). This shows that just like in the beginning of the
story, all the animals except the pigs still had to work very hard and receive little food. The pigs got to
live in luxury at the farm house while all the other animals had harsh living conditions in their stalls.
Napoleon did not care about the well being of the other animals and this is how he became just as
selfish as a human. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Farmer Frederick bought the timber with fake money, this showed just how dishonest humans
can be. The pigs are very dishonest to all the animals throughout the story. Squealer is always lying to
the animals telling them lies about Snowball and the seven commandments. By the end of the story
the pigs have changed the commandments several times and then changed them to one commandment
that said, ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS
(Orwell 133). This shows how the pigs are just lying to all the animals just so their lives can be better.
Napoleon and the other pigs are only thinking about themselves when they do this like how the
humans only think of

people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all (John Lennon
Quotes). John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England on October 9, 1940. He was born to Julia and
Arthur Lennon but eventually moved and lived with his Aunt Mimi after his parents divorce. Lennon
was always drawn into the arts, especially at an older age. Lennon was made into a rock star during
his time with the Beatles. Lennon started to drawn attention during his career with the Beatles with
some controversial comments. After Lennon s time with the Beatles, he showed his political activism.

In many of these songs John Lennon has a deeper message. All three of these songs support peace and
each song may speak to the listener. In Lennon s top song, Imagine, he discusses how the world would
be if things that divide us (i.e. race, religion, etc.) did not exist. He continuously describes how much
better the world would be. Lennon believed that the song would reach more people if there was a slow
peaceful melody. In the music video, Lennon dresses up as a cowboy and Ono as an Indian. He
demonstrates how both groups should get along. The song was number one on the U.K. charts for
weeks after Lennon s death. Imagine was voted second on the all time favorite songs in Britain (Song
Facts). John Lennon s most influential peace song is Give Peace a Chance. This song was the most
influential song at the time. The song was used many times at peace concerts and gatherings. The song
was recorded during Lennon s and Oko s Bed In for Peace. It got much media attention and helped
Lennon get his point across. When John Lennon saw 500,000 people protesting the Vietnam War
outside the White House with his song, Give Peace a Chance, he said it was, one of the biggest
moments of my life (Song Facts). Lennon s song was his first hit after The Beatles. This song he
became one of the greatest of all time. The third song that was chosen was Happy Xmas (War is

Antitrust And The American Consumer
Antitrust and the American Consumer
Kent L. Himes
College of Western Idaho
Abstract
The predominant view in the United States is that The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 was passed with
the intent to protect consumers from inefficient market forms, and predation by large corporations.
The specific provisions of the Sherman Act, as well as the later Clayton Act of 1914, prohibit acts that
are considered to be anti competitive such as cartels, monopolies, price discrimination, and predatory
pricing. Mergers and acquisitions are also individually reviewed to ensure they won t have an anti
competitive effect on the market. We will look at each of these acts to try to determine their actual
impact to the consumer. We will also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(DOJ 1997) Note that price fixing doesn t necessarily need to result in increased prices.
Price fixing scenarios require two main ingredients to be effective for the companies that attempt
them. First, the demand curve for the product or service in question must be sufficiently inelastic such
that a decrease in production will raise the price enough to ensure a higher profit level. The second
requirement for price fixing is that participating companies must combine for an effective monopoly
of the market in question. If two relatively minor companies decide to raise their prices together, this
will only result in the rest of the market taking additional share, and the conspirators losing money.
In a free market economy, price fixing agreements face two large challenges to their effectiveness. The
first is that while the companies participating in a price fixing agreement will benefit as a whole from
adhering to the agreement, each individual company has a very strong incentive to cheat on the
agreement and charge a market rate. Lowering prices allows the company to pick up additional market
share from their competitors and increase profits for themselves above what they would be entitled to
under the agreement. The second difficulty arises from the fact that without very high barriers to
market entry, the higher prices being charged

Star Spangled Banner Music Analysis
We are all familiar with our national anthem and some of us may have even learned in elementary
school that the lyrics were penned by Francis Scott Key but do you know who composed the music?
The music for the Star Spangled Banner was composed by John Stafford Smith. He was a
musicologist, composer, and church organist from Gloucester, England. He lived from 1750 to 1836
and was the son of church organist Martin Smith. John was a choirboy at the Chapel Royal in London,
England and he was a pupil of the famous composer William Boyce. John Stafford Smith was elected
as a member of the exclusive Anacreontic Society and composed the music for the society s
constitutional song To Anacreon in Heaven (a.k.a. The Anacreontic Song). It was this same music that
was used for the Star Spangled Banner . This melody after it was originally composed became popular
not only in England but also in Ireland, where, with different words, it was used as a drinking song.
Later, the melody came to America. One of the earliest alterations of this melody in America was the
Boston patriotic song by Thomas Paine, Adams and Liberty, which appeared in 1797. Sometime later,
it was used with other lyrics in Jefferson and Liberty. This melody was so popular in America, in fact,
it was adapted to more than 20 different songs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Building Blocks
In my classroom, I plan to have pencils and paper in every center so that the children will have the
opportunity to write at all times. With the writing and art centers, the children will be able to create
works of art such as stories, pictures, writing their names, and other works of art that they would like.
In the writing and art centers, the possibilities are endless as to what the children can create and they
are able to use their imagination, fine motor skills, all while working on communicating their thoughts
and ideas onto paper. The reason I chose building blocks/construction center for my classroom is
because the children get to have a hands on experience to learn through. Building blocks help with the
cognitive development in preschoolers, and they can also use their own imaginations to create a
masterpiece. With blocks, children are also able to learn about the different shapes, sizes, colors, and
ways of making patterns and comparing one object to another. ... Show more content on

Carbon Fiber Essay
INTRODUCTION
Background
Aerospace design applications rely heavily on weight reduction, structural integrity and optimize
performance. Engineers and designers have adopted carbon fiber composite due to its high modulus
reinforcement fibers embedded in an epoxy matrix. Also called graphite fiber or carbon graphite,
carbon fiber consists of very thin strands of the element carbon. Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter
as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a
special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire
resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light
weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. These fibers are
constructed with multiple laminate which are bonded together with a matrix or resin system. When
combined with resin and wound or molded to form composite materials, a high strength to weight
ratio is achieved.

Carbon Composite Materials Under industrial production now, carbon fibers are classified into PAN
based (polyacrylonitrile based) seen on figure 2, pitch based (coal tar and petroleum products) and
rayon based. The manufacturing of carbon fiber involves a chemical and mechanical process. Mixing
the precursor and co monomer then drawing the fiber out the chemical mixture then mechanically

Sparkly Tutu Essay
A Girl in a Sparkly Tutu When I grow up I am going to be a ballerina, truck driver, who rides a
motorcycle, shouted the small girl in a bright pink tutu under the scorching lights at her Kindergarten
graduation. I was this small girl and I have always been the child who wanted to break away from the
pack and be different from everyone else. I may no longer want to be a ballerina, for I realized my
hatred for itchy tights, or a truck driver, I am unable to sit for that long, but I still seem to dream big

me. It seems I have found that the way to stand out from others is to be the leader that they can follow.
I have always been a people person and seem to feed off of other s ideas and needs. It is the people
that I meet in my job, clubs, and activities, that make me long for more in my life and to help them

The Five Competitive Strategies For Wal Mart
Five Competitive Strategies
The five generic competitive strategies are low cost provider, broad differentiation, focused low cost,
focused differentiation strategy, and best cost provider strategy. According to the textbook, a company
s competitive strategy deals exclusively with the specifics of management s game plan for competing
successfully (Gamble, 93).
The main objective of a low cost provider is to achieve a lower overall cost than its main competitors
and rivals by means of underpricing (Gamble, 93). This is also known as price advantage in order to
attract customers. Companies that use this strategy will achieve high sales volumes while striving for
low cost margins. For example, Wal Mart is known to have considerable low prices that attract a broad
spectrum of customers. People who shop at Wal Mart are familiar with their Rollback Prices which
focus on the idea of everyday low prices that are sold at a far cheaper rate than its main competitors.
They are able to sustain these prices because of a successful supply chain market. Many of the
products they sell are from foreign and domestic markets that focus on a lower price demand. This
allows Wal Mart to sell their products at lower prices at a high volume. Basically, they buy a huge
quantity in volume in order to achieve a lower price to gain a higher profit.
The second company that also uses a low cost strategy is McDonald s. The Golden Arches is a well
known brand name across the world. Although

Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics

Chemical Kinetics
Objective:
This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine
the order for each component and the rate constant.
Introduction:
Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the
speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change
during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of
the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and
the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate
law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the
negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first
order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt +
1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of
the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the
R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b
equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order
and rate constant.

What Mathias comments on, is dismay that the older generation may take away the temporary forum
that give students their outlet from reality, and not realize that, inevitably, these students will mature
and networking sites will become more about what their original intent was, ...a legitimate social
reference guide. (439) The difference in these two writers views appears to be influenced by the
generation gap. Mathias views are based on her own personal experience as a current college student,
and Facebook user. Her perception of the site is that of a harmless means of distraction for students
who will eventually move on to other things. Fleming s focus is more of the protector, rather than
participant. She sees Facebook and similar sites as potentially damaging to a students future. It seems
as though, through simply not acknowledging certain aspects of these sites and the effect they have on
students, Mathias blog is helping to make Fleming s case. Mathias, Alice. The Fakebook Generation.

Essay On Cash Advance
What Is a Cash Advance?
Within the industry, a cash advance is essentially the same as a payday loan. The loan amounts are
similar, typically less than $500 although some lenders offer larger loans. The loans are usually repaid
in a lump sum; repayment may be scheduled 14 to 30 days after the loan is finalized. Cash advances
are sometimes called paycheck advances, personal cash advances or payday cash advances.
Whether the lender chooses to call the product a cash advance or a payday loan depends on the lender
s preference and may reflect the company s history. Many lenders making these types of loans from
physical stores chose to emphasize that borrowers received their loans in cash rather than a check.
Today, however, borrowers can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exact loan term depends on the lender, the amount borrowed and any applicable state laws.
Many payday lenders offer installment loans for people with bad credit as well as installment loans
online. The loan amounts, qualifications and interest rates vary by lender, but as rule, the loan amounts
are more generous than for short term loans requiring repayment in a lump sum.
What Is a Personal Loan
Basically, any loan obtained for non business reasons could be considered a personal loan. However,
within the short term loan industry, the term commonly refers to an unsecured loan. Secured loans are
backed by collateral that the lender can seize should the borrower default on the loan; mortgages, car
loans, title loans and pawned merchandise are all examples of secured loans. Borrowers obtaining
unsecured personal loans do not pledge collateral, so lenders have only the borrower s word that he or
she will repay the loan. These loans are sometimes called signature loans.
Since lenders take greater risks when making unsecured personal loans, they may have different
requirements than they do for pay day loans. They may run a credit check to determine the borrower s
credit score and payment history, but most lenders base their decision on more than just the borrower s
official credit report. Many lenders offer no credit personal loans as well as personal loans for

Analysis Of Maus By Art Spiegelman
Does any human actually want to take responsibilities for the mistakes they made? Doesn t every
human want to feel bad for themselves when they make what the consider a mistake? Many people
were traumatized by a horrific event that they were forced into, while their friends and family were all
being killed and forced to work against their will for the Nazi s. While many people were affected, not
all of them were able to fully explain how hurt they were as it was something that was not easy to talk
about for them. In a graphic novel called Maus, the author Art Spiegelman is trying to connect to his
father and understand the hardships he went through during a hard time called the Holocaust. The
author starts to talk about the Holocaust with his father and starts to learn how hard it was for his

camps until the last second, doing anything possible to stay away from them whether it meant lying or
hiding with the rest of their family. When discussing this with his father he wanted to be able to tell
his father s story for him, as he was never able to do it himself. Not only does Spiegelman just tell his
story with words, he tells it with pictures through a graphic novel, using unique techniques with the
illustrations in order to explain how broken human relationships were at this time period. Art

just a personal religion but a complete way of living. Over a billion people from all races, nationalities
and cultures across the globe are Muslim from the rice farms of Indonesia to the deserts in the heart of
Africa; from the skyscrapers of New York to the Bedouin tents in Arabia.
Only 18% of Muslims live in the Arab world; a fifth are found in Sub Saharan Africa; and the world s

  • 2. Similarities Between Gladstone And Benmin Disraeli The United Kingdom is one of the most powerful nations during the Victorian era, and its Empire now spreads all over the continents. The second half of the 19th Century could potentially be analysed through the foreign policy of the two main political figures at the time: William Ewart Gladstone and Benjamin Disraeli. Both are ambitious, charismatic leaders, and both were several times elected as British Prime Ministers. The following texts, which we will analyse, represent both parties: firstly, W. E Gladstone s speech to the House of Commons on May 1877, on the debate concerning the Eastern Question, and secondly Benjamin Disraeli s speech at the Crystal Palace concerning the maintenance of the Empire on June 24, 1872. Both texts aim to convince ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is known that Mr Gladstone, as a liberal, defends free trade. Although this aspect is not brought up in his speech, a reference is made in Mr Disraeli s speech. Mr Disraeli says, (L.8): it has been proved to all of us that we have lost money in colonies. and explains that this argument has been used by his political opponents as a justification to disintegrate (l.32) the empire. Although, as previously explains, Mr Disraeli s concedes that the colonies are in need of reform, it is only an argumentative tactic to strengthen his own argument. The Tories are aware of the weakness of the colonies, and are prepared to act upon it. It is only a matter of reform, easily solved if resolved by the right person, as Mr Disraeli implies in his speech with his detailed solutions. To him, the economic weaknesses of colonies are not relevant arguments to justify the reduction of the colonial empire. Moreover, Mr Disraeli clearly expresses his economic protectionist ideas, by mentioning the necessity of implementing an imperial tariff (l.19), an interesting opposition to the liberal notion of free trade. Colonies are an economic disadvantage for the Liberal Party, but Mr Disraeli showed us a different aspect which only aided him to develop his protectionist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Sears Holding Company ( Shld ) Introduction Sears Holding Company (SHLD) was once a very successful organization. Prior to the 1980 s, SHLD managed to generate revenue and compete among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014). However, in more recent years, SHLD has become subject to scrutiny among industry s critics. As of late, SHLD has made several attempts to revive their organization. These attempts involve SHLD implementing corporate, business and functional leveled strategies within their organization. Corporate Level Strategies Every organization needs to create corporate level strategies. Corporate level strategies help organizations create plans and methods that will allow them to grow, no matter how the economy changes (Latham, 2014). SHLD used two different corporate level strategies to help them increase revenue and cut costs. The first corporate strategy used by SHLD is horizontal integration mergers. This strategy involved SHLD merging with K Mart. K mart decided to merge with Sears in 2004, in hopes that both stores can gain an competitive advantage over rival retail giants. Both SHLD and K Mart thought that they would be better suited to compete against Lowes and Home Depot; this is due to their potential inventory increase and availability from the merger. While merging seemed to open doors for both SHLD and K Mart, there was still a need for retrenchment. Retrenchment was used by SHLD once the merger as complete, this involved store closures and laying off employees at various Sears ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creating a plan helps not only to identify any risks, but also helps to choose the best solutions available to mitigate those risks. • 5. Critical Analysis of a Published Article Essay APPROACHES TO STUDY WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT (INTENSIVE) Assignment 1: Critical analysis of a published article (1000 words) Saturday 10th October 2009 By Joana Wong This critical analysis is about an article that argues whether drugs should be legalized or not. It was published in The Observer, on Sunday the 6th of September 2009 and it is entitled Latin America s backlash against US war on drugs by Ed Vulliamy in Tijuana, Rory Carroll in Caracas, Annie Kelly in Buenos Aires and Tom Phillips in Rio de Janeiro. It is a lengthy article, written in a Sunday newspaper for a well educated and informed audience. It is evident that the reporter has researched the subject well, for example he starts the article with and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that South America is demanding a partnership instead of the subjugation that hallmarked former US presidencies, saying that not only is their interdiction policy failing, but it is also a pretext for Washington interference. At the same time he highlights reasons for scepticism such as: some drugs are addictive after one single hit; if possession is legal, it will enhance the domestic market, and above all, drugs kill and destroy lives and legalizing them will make them more accessible to people. Although Vietnam, part of Indochina in South East Asia was many thousands of miles away from the USA, due to obsessive paranoia and the threat of its national interest, America felt threatened adequately enough to fight a war there. The USA s suspicion that the communists were taking over the world was exceptionally strong. Their explanation for their most paranoid attitude lay in the Korean War, the communist take over of China, the Cold War and also the communist success over the French in Vietnam. The USA remained indirectly involved until 1965. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The earlier policy of isolationism was now over; containment was underway and it hoped to put an end to the spread. The USA was determined that no more countries were to turn communist. Also The Marshall Plan was set up. Marshall aid was offered to many countries including communist ones. The aid included goods, loans, food and advisers. By helping communist countries also, it could perhaps advise and persuade the benefits of capitalism, so not only was the USA using the method of containment, they were attempting to switch those countries already made communist. 1949 was a appalling year for the USA. The USA was no longer the only nuclear power as the USSR had exploded its very own atom bomb. Also, although the USA has spent around $2 billion supporting anti communist countries China had become communist. This worried America immeasurably. The Vietminh, regardless of assistance from China, were forced back from 1950 1951 when General De Lattre De Tassigny inflicted a series of defeats on the Vietminh. The USA supported the French as their opponents were communists. If the French won, Vietnam wouldn t be communist. The USA began becoming indirectly involved by providing financial aid; $500 million a year was put into the French war effort. Also the USA helped the French set up a non communist government in the south of the country. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A quote that I believe goes with this is one from Corrie where she says , Lord Jesus, You were called to a hearing, too. Show me what to do. (Page 118 of Chapter 11) This reiterates that she was looking to God on what she should do. A theme that branches off of religion was faith. Faith played a very important role throughout the book, from normal practices of faith in the beginning of the book to Corrie using faith to keep strong in the labor camps. One quote that I feel describes this is, But if God has shown us bad times ahead it s enough for that he knows about them. That s why he sometimes shows us things you know, to tell us that this too is in his hands, (page 50 of Chapter 5) This quote shows that Corrie has faith in God that he has it all under control. All in all, I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It showed me a lot of different side of the Holocaust that I previously did not know. • 10. The Effects Of Antidepressant Pills On Teenagers And... Jacqueline Mendez Mrs. Kehrmeyer AP English 9 February 2016 Teenagers and Antidepressants In recent discussions of antidepressant pills a controversial issue has been whether doctors should prescribe antidepressants to teenagers. Antidepressant pills are prescribed to individuals who suffer from a condition called Major Depression Disorder, labeled MDD for abbreviation. Major Depressive Disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self esteem and by loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. The objectives of antidepressant pills are to stabilize, and normalize the abnormal low levels of brain chemicals for those who suffer from MDD. On the other hand, some argue that antidepressants are harmful and do a disadvantage to teenagers, therefore should not be prescribed to them. However, others argue that the pills are not harmful and in some cases the strong need of antidepressants outweigh the risks the pills might provide. Antidepressants prevent teenagers from recuperating on their own and prevents them from learning how to cope with conflicts thus, they should not be prescribed. Depression results in symptoms such as sadness, it affects a person s emotions and leads to both emotional and physical problems. The antidepressant pills are meant to help the brain recuperate and adjust to normality. The reason why people reconsider taking the pills in the first place is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, Meursault seems unemotional during most of the book. The existentialist part of Meursault finds it difficult to know what love is. For example, when Marie asks if Meursault loves her, he replies that [love] didn t mean anything but that [he] didn t [think] so (Camus 35). This lends itself to the question of what love actually is. Is love spending time with people you care about, or is it a myth that society has taught us to believe in? Meursault would argue the latter as his relationships with both his mother and Marie don t involve much emotion. Another instance in which Meursault exhibits existentialist behavior is when he shoots the Arab on the beach. What drives Meursault to shoot is not the Arab drawing his knife, but rather the intense sun and the sweat running down his face. During the days after the shooting, Monsieur Meursault doesn t understand why he needs an attorney. It is easy for him to understand; he commits a murder, and he is ready to face the consequences for his actions. There s a lot of meaning hidden in the novel s title. Later in the book when Napoleon was in charge he was very selfish towards the animals in the same way. The lower animals on Animal Farm did more work and received less food (Orwell 136). (DOJ 1997) Note that price fixing doesn t necessarily need to result in increased prices. Price fixing scenarios require two main ingredients to be effective for the companies that attempt them. First, the demand curve for the product or service in question must be sufficiently inelastic such that a decrease in production will raise the price enough to ensure a higher profit level. The second requirement for price fixing is that participating companies must combine for an effective monopoly of the market in question. If two relatively minor companies decide to raise their prices together, this will only result in the rest of the market taking additional share, and the conspirators losing money. In a free market economy, price fixing agreements face two large challenges to their effectiveness. The first is that while the companies participating in a price fixing agreement will benefit as a whole from adhering to the agreement, each individual company has a very strong incentive to cheat on the agreement and charge a market rate. Lowering prices allows the company to pick up additional market share from their competitors and increase profits for themselves above what they would be entitled to under the agreement. The second difficulty arises from the fact that without very high barriers to market entry, the higher prices being charged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Star Spangled Banner Music Analysis We are all familiar with our national anthem and some of us may have even learned in elementary school that the lyrics were penned by Francis Scott Key but do you know who composed the music? The music for the Star Spangled Banner was composed by John Stafford Smith. He was a musicologist, composer, and church organist from Gloucester, England. He lived from 1750 to 1836 and was the son of church organist Martin Smith. John was a choirboy at the Chapel Royal in London, England and he was a pupil of the famous composer William Boyce. John Stafford Smith was elected as a member of the exclusive Anacreontic Society and composed the music for the society s constitutional song To Anacreon in Heaven (a.k.a. The Anacreontic Song). It was this same music that was used for the Star Spangled Banner . This melody after it was originally composed became popular not only in England but also in Ireland, where, with different words, it was used as a drinking song. Later, the melody came to America. One of the earliest alterations of this melody in America was the Boston patriotic song by Thomas Paine, Adams and Liberty, which appeared in 1797. • 24. Carbon Fiber Essay INTRODUCTION Background Aerospace design applications rely heavily on weight reduction, structural integrity and optimize performance. Engineers and designers have adopted carbon fiber composite due to its high modulus reinforcement fibers embedded in an epoxy matrix. Also called graphite fiber or carbon graphite, carbon fiber consists of very thin strands of the element carbon. Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. Sparkly Tutu Essay A Girl in a Sparkly Tutu When I grow up I am going to be a ballerina, truck driver, who rides a motorcycle, shouted the small girl in a bright pink tutu under the scorching lights at her Kindergarten graduation. I was this small girl and I have always been the child who wanted to break away from the pack and be different from everyone else. I may no longer want to be a ballerina, for I realized my hatred for itchy tights, or a truck driver, I am unable to sit for that long, but I still seem to dream big and stand out. To this day I still keep that little girl who dreamed big and loves a sparkly tutu inside me. It seems I have found that the way to stand out from others is to be the leader that they can follow. I have always been a people person and seem to feed off of other s ideas and needs. It is the people that I meet in my job, clubs, and activities, that make me long for more in my life and to help them find more in their own. • 29. The Five Competitive Strategies For Wal Mart Five Competitive Strategies The five generic competitive strategies are low cost provider, broad differentiation, focused low cost, focused differentiation strategy, and best cost provider strategy. According to the textbook, a company s competitive strategy deals exclusively with the specifics of management s game plan for competing successfully (Gamble, 93). The main objective of a low cost provider is to achieve a lower overall cost than its main competitors and rivals by means of underpricing (Gamble, 93). This is also known as price advantage in order to attract customers. Companies that use this strategy will achieve high sales volumes while striving for low cost margins. For example, Wal Mart is known to have considerable low prices that attract a broad spectrum of customers. People who shop at Wal Mart are familiar with their Rollback Prices which focus on the idea of everyday low prices that are sold at a far cheaper rate than its main competitors. They are able to sustain these prices because of a successful supply chain market. Many of the products they sell are from foreign and domestic markets that focus on a lower price demand. This allows Wal Mart to sell their products at lower prices at a high volume. Basically, they buy a huge quantity in volume in order to achieve a lower price to gain a higher profit. The second company that also uses a low cost strategy is McDonald s. The Golden Arches is a well known brand name across the world. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics Olivia Isaacs C127 15 November 2014 Chemical Kinetics Objective: This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine the order for each component and the rate constant. Introduction: Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt + 1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order and rate constant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the semester we have talked about many different aspects of aging that help define the success within the process. We have discussed the neurosciences of aging, the physical changes associated with aging, the longevity and intelligence of individuals in relation to their life and abilities while aging, how relationships and work can change as one ages, and how aging affects ones personality. After reading Childhood Misfortune as a Threat to Successful Aging: Avoiding Disease and Successful Aging and Well Being: Self Rated Compared With Rowe and Kahn, I have a better understanding of the objective and subjective view of aging in relation to childhood factors. What Is a Personal Loan Basically, any loan obtained for non business reasons could be considered a personal loan. However, within the short term loan industry, the term commonly refers to an unsecured loan. Secured loans are backed by collateral that the lender can seize should the borrower default on the loan; mortgages, car loans, title loans and pawned merchandise are all examples of secured loans. Borrowers obtaining unsecured personal loans do not pledge collateral, so lenders have only the borrower s word that he or she will repay the loan. These loans are sometimes called signature loans. Since lenders take greater risks when making unsecured personal loans, they may have different requirements than they do for pay day loans.
