The Disaster Of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a catastrophic natural disaster in American history. The aftermath had
substantial negative impact on New Orleans and it could have been avoided if proper disaster
management practices were put in place. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that
caused the hurricane to be catastrophic. One factor that was responsible for the disaster was failure
of the three levels of the government working cohesively (Thiede Brown, 2013). The incoherent
interaction between the three levels of government will be assessed. Another factor that will be
examined is social and psychological refusal of Hurricane Katrina(Thiede Brown, 2013). Lastly, the
improper constriction levees and floodwalls will be addressed (Thiede Brown, 2013). By narrowing
down the substantial factors, the government and public can learn from the disaster management
mistakes of Hurricane Katrina so aftermath effects can be prevented/alleviated in the future.
Recommendations for improving disaster management practices can also be provided and would
be beneficial in saving many lives.

Iron Woman Frida Kahlo is the most known Mexican artist for her selfportraits. Majority of her

Broken Column, and many others. Frida Kahlo was a surrealist considering the time of her work
starting in the 1920s.
Born July 6th, 1907, in Mexico with Mexican roots from her mother and German roots from her
father, Frida Kahlo was the second youngest of four. Frida contracted polio at a small age and
was left with a thinner leg deformity. At age 18 she had a tragic accident where she suffered
major injuries from her shoulders to her feet. The two she never fully recovered from was her
broken spinal column and her pierced uterus damaging her reproductive system permanently. She

Right off the bat, we can tell that this poem is based on the free verse type of poetry, as it doesn t
have any particular rhyming scheme. It only occasionally contained half rhymes, such as the words
road and dead . Stafford was known for not having a rhyme scheme in his poems, although

regular rhyme scheme, we are also able to tell that the poem does in fact have a irregular meter,

we can see the speaker trying to paint a picture of a gloomy night. He demonstrates this by
saying: traveling through the dark , that road is narrow; to swerve might make more dead and

stress the speaker was in at the time, by painting this picture, so we the readers can envision what
is actually happening. If we move on to imagery, we can see that when the speaker states that the

My Reflection On My Experience In Early American History
As I write this paper, I reflect on my experience in Early American History and how my group s
final project went. Overall, the class was significantly more difficult than I first thought it would
be. Going into the class I originally assumed this would be a pretty simple GEP with minimal

The Effects Of Declining Fertility On South Korea And Japan
In modern society, the phenomenon of declining fertility is visible in many countries and is not
only confined to South Korea and Japan. However, the phenomenon of low natality is more
likely to be found in developed countries such as South Korea and Japan, which stand 219th and
220th, respectively, out of 224 countries according to the birth rate chart of the CIA World
Factbook recorded in 2013. The low birth rate below the replacement rate 2.0 is expected to be
more critical to small countries like South Koreaand Japan because of limited natural resources and
scarcity of manpower. South Koreaand Japan share many characteristics to foreign people because
they are neighboring countries who had many cultural and trade exchanges in the past. When it
comes to comparing and contrasting the declining fertilityin both countries, most of the
characteristics are considerably similar when viewed from the big picture but different when
looked in detail. This research paper will begin by providing a brief description about when low
fertility society began. Then, the paper will primarily focus on three subjects: significant factors of
fertility change, problems aroused by low fertility, and possible solutions such as policies suggested
by their governments.
Both South Korea and Japan are now societies of low fertility, but Japan entered the society of low
fertility about 10 years earlier than South Korea. In 1950s, the fertility rate for both countries was
above replacement level.

Symbolism In The Starry Night
This artwork, the Starry Night, was drawn by a well known painter called Vincent van
Gogh in 1989. The medium of this artwork is oil in canvas. This is an expressive painting
combined with van Gogh s memories and imagination. The blue and yellow colors in the
sky possess the majority of the painting that makes people feel miserable and a glimpse of
hope in the dark at first sight .
In this painting, the lines are short which induces a vivid style. Normal people mostly
write long lines to express their feeling but the dotted line might shows that his state was
not good at that time in psychological aspect. The sky was created by a dot to dot effect

It produces a mixture of two colors when they mix together by this technique that makes
the scene more harmonious. When the painting is exposed under the light, the viewer can
see the paint sticking out from the canvas in globs. In the Starry Night, the stars are
blazing and the wriggling branches of the cypress vibrate with the rhythms of nature s
divinity.
From my point of view, i like the Starry Night because this canvas can express the
feeling of van Gogh obviously. The major color of the whole painting is blue and black,
which implies that van Gogh was in a bad emotional state. The whirling clouds also imply
that he was confusing or struggling for something. On the other hand, the painting is full
of his imagination. For example, in the genuine world, the cloud is not curved and the
tree s shape is not similar to the fire. The tree is not also proportion to the normal one.
The village is mysterious and is painted with dark colors but the brightly lit windows

create a sense of comfort. The village is peaceful in comparison to the dramatic night sky
