Three Great Characteristics Of Canada
Social Studies Essay
Three Great Characteristics of Canada
Canada s countless characteristics undoubtedly makes it one of the most amazing countries in the
world. With three territories and ten provinces, our home and native land is home to over thirty five
million people from an endless amount of backgrounds and nationalities. Canada is widely seen as a
painfully polite country, a place with a terribly cold climate and meticulously clean cities. These
stereotypes might hold some truth, but realistically, our northern home is a place to be admired
because of its safety and freedom. Numerous people have taken this country for granted, but realizing
how fortunate we all are to live in an environment such as Canada s, is a privilege and an ... Show

Canada has massive mountains, freezing cold tundra, endless prairies, powerful oceans, even cold and
warm deserts. Not only do we have such diverse geographical places, but landscapes that are quite
well known in some other areas of the world. Two examples of this would be the excellent ski and
snowboard resorts nestled among the mountains in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario, or
the surfing beaches along the coast of British Columbia. Many people think that Canada s climate is
extremely cold all the time, but really that is only accurate in the northern part of Canada where there
is definitely colder weather. The southern area of Canada still encounters snow and minus forty
degrees in winter, but at shorter durations than in the north. On the other hand, in the southern parts of
our country we do face warmer temperatures. In the Western provinces such as Manitoba,
Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, we have had our share of what we would call heat
waves, with temperatures up to forty degrees celsius. In the very southern part of British Columbia
lies the Osoyoos desert which reaches high temperatures during summer months. The Osoyoos desert
is not the only desert in Canada though, the Arctic tundra is sometimes referred to as a cold and harsh
desert with permafrost and minimal plant and animal life. Although our mountains may not be as

The Effect Of Color On Testing Results
The Effect of Color on Testing Results Introduction Our experiment focused on testing scores. We
wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test would affect a student s performance on
that test. We chose to conduct this experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of
students to take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that this
way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our results. Our hypothesis
was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly on the test than the student would have
done on a test with black ink. Our theory was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on
previous assignments and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question
by giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in red and black
ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the ink color. In order to determine
whether there was a correlation between ink colors and test scores, we measured the students number
of wrong answers on the test, time taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and
college. We chose these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically
assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation. We measured
our results using descriptive statistics, using numbers to

Technology Is Not Science Fiction
Implanted with a Chip People today are enamored with the idea of having the latest, coolest
technologies in their possession, and no matter what comes down the pipeline they will do whatever it
takes to get their hands on it. What would someone do if they found out that there was a piece of
technology that would allow them to unlock their car with the palm of their hand, and start the car
with that same hand just by touching the steering wheel. How about if they could go to the bank and
withdraw money from their account without ever having to pull out their debit card or any form of
identification. Now how about this, someone goes to the grocery store fills their cart with everything
on their shopping list, and then exits the store never having stopped at the checkout counter. This
sounds like a piece of technology that people would want to get their hands on. How would people
react to find out that this piece of technology is not science fiction but indeed science fact? Although
the idea of putting microchip implants in human beings may have many valuable uses, the potential to
make life easier, and seems like the natural progression in technological advancement it should not be
taken lightly. Implanting people with microchips is undoubtedly the wrong direction in which to take
the society; the implementation of microchip implants will be the catalyst that causes everyone to
forgo their freedoms and right to privacy. The microchip implant is being marketed as a possible

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Yeats
Comparative Essay on Wordsworth and Yeats
In Down by the Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats and She Dwelt Among the Untrodden ways
by William Wordsworth, the poets use a theme of love while applying imagery consistently
throughout the poems. Additionally, Yeats uses repetition to show the passing of time through
metaphors while Wordsworth comparatively portrays his inner thoughts. Since they are giving their
emotions, Yeats applies similes comparing his love for the beauty of nature whilst Wordsworth is
commemorating his love, despite her disappearing from his life. She Dwelt Among the Untrodden
Ways by Wordsworth expresses his emotion towards her as she lives her life only to die isolated.

Repetition is utilized to reflect Yeats inner opinion on how he rushed to the relationship. Ultimately
resulting in her leaving him. The use of repetition is dominant throughout as the phrases little snow
white feet (2) to her snow white hands , my love and I did meet (1) in contrast with my love and I did
stand showing repetition while also showing imagery of something snow white. This is important
because of how the poem has a parallel structure. Past events have already happened and cannot be
changed thus he is reflecting how he regrets not listening to her. As mentioned before, another point of
repetition is take love easy with take life easy which could be interpreted as her message to the
narrator about learning to relax and slow down. This is supported by how he is reflecting back to when
he was still young and foolish (8) thinking about how his life was wasted and not realizing that he is
not living life to the fullest, relating back to a theme of regret. However, for Wordsworth, he utilizes
metaphors to discuss his feelings. Wordsworth uses a metaphor of being Half hidden from the eye! (6)
to visualize the obscurity of the woman. This can be interpreted as a contrast with the line above,
mentioning the violet (5) standing out, while the eye has a connotation of omnipotent power and
vision,

it not begin until 1898? a. The Monroe Doctrine moved the US down south into the Caribbean even
before the war against Mexico. The US needed to gain more power and unity before it could think of

Comparative Politics Is An Essential Field Within...
Comparative politics is an essential field within political science, as it is always present and always
prevalent. One of the most alluring elements of comparative politics is the stark contrast one can
observe between two or more nations in terms of their sociopolitical climate. Every nation has distinct
political intricacies, and one particularly controversial issue that is gaining interest globally is political
corruption. Corruption can manifest itself in a myriad of ways in a nation s government regime, and
widespread corruption can have significant repercussions on sustainability, the balance of power, and
individual rights within a nation state. In 2015, Transparency International ranked North Korea the
second most corrupt nation in the world, while Norway was ranked the sixth least corrupt. This paper
will examine the staggering juxtaposition in corruption levels between the two nations based on the
contrast in their respective governmental regimes and institutions. It will dissect the causes for this
disparity in corruption levels, and examine how this factor has impacted both countries in an attempt
to uncover the motivations and costs linked to corruption.
When corruption takes root in a nation, it can be very difficult to extinguish. Corruption has embedded
itself deep within North Korea s government, and it has become a driving force of the nation s
economy, as well as its overall identity. North Korea has, become incredibly good at raising revenue

History Textbooks Crazy History

History Textbooks and Their Crazy History Without reading these fascinating articles one might never
realize the complexity and controversy surrounding history textbooks. I for one, would have never
guessed that racial equality wasn t truly displayed in textbooks until well after the 1960 s. Textbooks,
it seems, have been used for almost nothing but profit and political gains and due to this have been
revised to fulfill the needs of the targeted. Leaders and state boards declare what they want to appear
in textbooks and by doing this the students view is limited to that textbook. This allows leaders and
the elected to mold their people and their nation, sometimes for worse and sometimes for better. Even
though much turbulence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

around for centuries and they are the ones who decide what they want their state or nation to recognize
as valid history. Modern day education boards are revising textbooks to outline many narrow minded
ideas such as in Texas where, they wanted the texts to establish that the U.S. is a Christian land
governed by Christian principles (The Week), and Slavery under the new standards, would no longer
be described as America s original sin, and would become the Atlantic triangular trade (The Week),

The Humiliating Nature of Enslavement, Sexual Savage...
The humiliating nature of enslavement, sexual savage exploitation, and degradation in
autobiographical narratives of Frederick Douglass and Harriet Ann Jacobs
In the age of Romanticism, slavery and the slave trade provoked sharp criticism and controversy and
played a very significant role in shaping public opinion and causing moral opposition to injustice and
tyranny. Since Columbus s journey opened the doors of the Atlantic passage to African Slave Trade,
slavery became man s greatest inhumanity to man converting the victims into labor and economic
units of production. The foundation of African culture and civilization stagnated, decayed and almost
disappeared within the over three hundred years of the Christian motivated evil of ... Show more

share this knowledge with others suffering alongside him as slaves. The work of instructing my dear
fellow slaves was the sweetest engagement with which I was ever blessed...I succeeded in creating in
them a strong desire to learn how to read (Douglass). However, while Douglass mostly spoke about
his black brothers and sisters as one whole the brotherhood , Jacobs in Incidents in the Life of a Slave
Girl, Written by Herself portrayed the wrongs inflicted by slavery in the eyes of women slaves and the
sexual tyranny exerted by white slave masters over black women (Jacobs).
Reader, be assured this narrative is no fiction...I was born and reared in Slavery...I do earnestly desire
to arouse the women of the North to realizing sense of the condition of two millions of women at the
South, still in bondage, suffering what I suffered, and most of them far worse. (Jacobs)
With these words, Harriet Ann Jacobs revealed her personal story of enslavement, sexual savage
exploitation, and degradation. In appealing to white women to look at life from her perspective,
Jacobs was hoping to portray the cruelty of slavery in the eyes of a woman. She did not talk about
severe whipping or punishments like Douglass but rather Christmas which she could not spend with

When people hear the label digital natives or millennials a typical shared though by many is that they,
the young people that these labels are referring to, are good with technology usually this assumed
technological gift is equated to something ridiculous such as they are born with a cell phone in their
hands and that they will be a computer genius before they can walk. Though these outrageous
assumptions are often made in jest, there does seem to be a bit of underlying belief to them; this belief
can restrict the amount of technological skill still developing children who are, in fact, not born with

and up. The summary and description listed on the library s website explain that children will learn
basic programing of a BB 8 droid (spl.org). The program was scheduled from noon to 2 pm, and when
I arrived at 11:30 am there was already a child and parent waiting for the program to begin. The
program was a part of teen service learning which is a partnership between the library and high
schools where students receive service learning credits while learning valuable skills. There were
seven high school students who were completely in charge of creating and running the program; they
were supervised by one of the Teen Services Librarians who only stepped in when one of the teens
requested she do so. I wanted to see how the children interacted with the droids were they excited to
learn to program, or were they more excited to just play with them. I also wanted to see how the
parents and teens interacted with the children while they were in control of the droids what kind of
instruction methods they would use, how much independence they would give the children, and how
they would react to the children who were uninterested in learning to program and just wanted to play

The Between Socialism And Communism
As the cultural Marxist ideology used by liberals in the United States today originates from Europe,
understanding what politicians represent will go some way to avoiding further American decline, the
slide into a police state and the belief that Obama is a Messiah.
The coming 2016 election is arguably the most important ever held. Consequences from the results
decide the future of the United States and in which direction it will shift, towards European liberal
fascism and equality based Human Rights, alternatively, a return to the constitution.
Not understanding leads to an inability to explain the difference between socialism and communism,
or equality as an abstract. The well fed social justice warriors of today have replaced the poverty class
revolutionaries of yesteryear, with cultural Marxism, explained in an American context. The aims
remain radical and utopic, as do the politicians behind the agenda.
Failure to understand European ideologies is why Bernie Sanders, posing as a Democrat, but a lifelong
Maoist, can pass himself off as a socialist in the Democrat party. The disguise is what allows former
Alinsky radical, Hillary Clinton, a multimillionaire progressive, to run as a Democrat.
The key to understanding ideologies therefore, lies in viewing politics as circular, not linear, with the
centre at the top and the right and left of extremism meeting at the bottom. The choice is the Gestapo
or KGB, concentration camps or slave labour camps and all ending without

1. The National Health Service (NHS) is a publicly funded service, providing free health care for all

funded health service together with one of the largest employers in the world . However throughout
the past decade the demand for health care has been rising radically and with the continuous need to
be accountable for public spending the NHS has been put under immense pressure to be cost effective

Ignorance of these differences may lead to offending an employee, leading to unintentional
discrimination and poor relationships. It would therefore be beneficial for human resource
management to understand culture disparities that may affect the way in which a message is perceived
(Culturaldiversisty.org, 2008). Cultural diversity not only causes interferences within verbal
communication but also in the way non verbal communication is perceived. In relation to the cultural
variations within non verbal communication, body language is often misconstrued. For example when
the British are talking face to face they tend to look away spasmodically , in contrast to this the
Norwegians typically look people steadily in their eyes without altering their gaze, thus a British
individual communicating with a Norwegian could portray this eye contact as threatening and a wrong
perception of that person may be perceived (Mullins, 2005, p231).
3.1 As the prime objective of the NHS care system is to provide optimal care for all UK citizens, and
with a multicultural country as our own, cultural competence ought to be manifested at every level
within the NHS organization to ensure there are no damaging effects. Missunderstandings may lead to
missdiagonosis, thus practitioners and nurses along with managers should all be culturaly aware.

Harry Potter Rushing Into Action
Harry Potter rushing into action in a dangerous and mystifying wizard duel. Lyra Belacqua storming

Becky Thatcher as they starve nearly to death. All these characters are strong, confident and demand
our attention. They are the obvious heroes. While it may not come to mind right away, there are two
unconventional characters to add to this list. Michael and Skellig, of David Almond s Skellig , without
a doubt have a spot reserved on the long list of heroes in children s literature. While it is true, this duo

whole new side of heroism to the table. Hero, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary is, a
person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities; a person or character who, in the face
of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage, bravery or self sacrifice;
courageous and brave (Hero, 2015). In their own ways each of these two saves their other. Michaels
heroism stems from his selflessness that is seen in his every reaction to his ill baby sister and his
compassion and acceptance of Skellig. Equally, Skellig is a hero in his own right. He overcomes his
fear of the outside world to save Michael from his unrealized self deprecation, as well as his sister Joy.

Wrongful Convictions And The Criminal Justice System
This paper takes a leap into the corrupted side of the criminal justice system. After analyzing several
articles regarding wrongful conviction cases in the Unites States, it is apparent that wrongful
conviction cases occur more often than society believed. It has come to surface in recent years that
wrongful convictions are a big problem with our criminal justice system. Researchers have discovered
the causes of wrongful convictions to be bad lawyering, government misconduct, informants, false
confessions, flawed forensic science and eyewitness error. Furthermore, this paper explores the affects
victims face due to a wrongful conviction. As society has begun to steadily realize that miscarriage of
justice is a possibility, researchers have considered reforms to the criminal justice system. Wrongful
Convictions in the Criminal Justice System During recent studies from several researchers it has been
concluded that there is a fault within our criminal justice system. Researchers discovered there is a
high wrongful conviction rate within the United States judicial system. After, extensive research, it
was found that wrongful convictions are caused by eyewitness error, false confessions, flawed
forensic science, an informant, bad lawyering, and government misconduct. Without a doubt, this
issue has shocked society, due to the fact we rely on the system for pure justice. Within my findings, it
is apparent that victims of wrongful convictions suffer numerous affects when

5)Powers of Checks and Balances:
Though there exists a clear cut division of labor known as separation of powers into executive,
legislature and judiciary in both countries, still there is a threat. to democracy. A strong and dynamic
leadership at the helm of powers as the executive and acting with unlimited powers may lead to
arbitrariness. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result
democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent
unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of
checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. In other words, each division of power is
somehow or other checked and controlled by other divisions of power.
In the US, the President as the chief executive power appoints his members of Kitchen Cabinet and he
is the Supreme Commander in Chief of Army,Navy and the Air Force. He appoints the Chief Justice of
the Supreme Court of the US. He enters into treaties with other countries. However, his treaties must
be approved by the House of Senate.Otherwise, the treaty will not come into force. Though President
Woodrow Wilson was the chief architect of the League of Nations that came into being after the first
world war,US could not become a member of it since the House of Senate did not approve it.Thus
important policy decisions must be necessarily approved by the House of Senate, which

Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was a freed slave in the 1800 s who was famous for his ability to read and write,
uncommon of a black man at the time. On July 4th, 1852, he gave a speech to citizens of the United
States. In this speech, he called out the hypocrisy of the nation (Douglass), questioning the nation s
treatment of slaves on a supposed day of independence. Frederick Douglass effectively uses rhetorical
strategies to construct his argument and expose the hypocrisy of the nation. One of the rhetorical
strategies that Douglass uses extremely effectively is the use of rhetorical questions. He has many of
them scattered throughout the speech and they re meant to make the audience question the nation and
their own ways. He begins by asking Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the white men. This is hypocritical in that the white men make these values and traditions a staple of
their lives, yet when it comes to slaves, they seem to go away. He also believes that, though he will

slaves is unjust and unethical, but they choose not to act on these thoughts. His view, coming from the
eyes and thoughts of slaves across America, show how hypocritical the nation actually is in both one
sided values and not acting upon their knowledge that what is going on is

Information Processing Techniques Office At D.a
Introduction
From its inception in the early 60 s the Internet was used to send information, this was pioneered by
the computer scientist J.C.R. Licklider of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He conceived the
idea of a network of interconnected computers which would allow data and other information to be
shared no matter the location. This led him to be appointed head of the Information Processing
Techniques Office at D.A.R.P.A. (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) then called A.R.P.A.
While there he convinced his successors and fellow M.I.T. researcher Lawrence G Roberts that his
work was important and that it should continue.
In 1964 Roberts and another M.I.T. Alumni Leonard Kleinrock devised a system of communications
using packets rather than circuits (this was the first step to actual computer networking). In 1965 while
working alongside Thomas Merrill, Roberts manged to connect his computer in Massachusetts to
another in California, thus creating the world s first W.A.N. (Wide Area Network).
By 1966 Roberts went to D.A.R.P.A. and quickly set about devising the ARPANET with Licklider.
This was greenlighted and by the early 1970 s technology had caught up with the dreams of it s
visionaries. The ARPANET itself laid the foundations to which we now know as the Internet and had
pioneered the use of electronic mail, data transfer and networking between computers. Soon similar
systems became more readily available and were offered to N.A.S.A., the

This is a very useful tool when you are trying to comparing countries to each other because it shows
the relative performance of these countries (investopedia.com). Comparing Israel to other countries, in

the World Bank in 2016 as well, it was ranked as number 22 at $37,293 (Economy of Israel). All of
the GDP are converted into United States currency to even out the playing field and make it easier to

with it is that it doesn t take into account the differences in cost of living as well as the fluctuations in
the exchange rates of a country s currency (wikipedia.org). Within the entire Middle East, Israel has
the highest GDP, just about doubling Iran who is the second highest at $12,900 (Economy in the

External Stakeholders Of Volkswagen
Stakeholders
As a multinational corporation, the implication of the scandal determines the fate of numerous
stakeholders both internal and external. Internal stakeholders comprise of the board, managers and
employees while external stakeholders subsume shareholders, customers and suppliers. The economic,
political and social impacts of the dishonest practices would shape the fate of Volkswagen and affect
the future prospects of the automotive industry. Common shareholders whilst not involved in the day

severe economic loss as share prices (get something for stat). Despite the callous deception in
advertising the defeat device displayed no signs of disturbing vehicle performance, however,
customers of Volkswagen and its subsidiary vehicles suffer from lower resale value. In addition, even
though the scandal was global, European consumers were the most affected with diesel cars
accounting for 41% of all European cars (Fontaras, 2016). This high percentage in respect to other
nations is a result of incentives provided by the European Union for the purchase of diesel vehicles
such as subsidies towards the production process resulting in lower premiums compared to petrol
counterparts (Vidal, 2015) In additional with sales falling suppliers of Volkswagen would likely lose

Comparing Aaliyah s I Don T Do And Fefe Do
Almost everyone will go through a breakup. Those who have been through a rough breakup may agree
that heartache hurts. Individuals handle breakups in many different ways; some might become
depressed, stop eating, or even overeat. In Aaliyah s I Don t Wanna and FeFe Dobson s Can t Breath ,
each artist expresses their emotional response to handling a breakup. Each are fighting to hold on to
the relationship and not wanting to believe that the relationship is actually over.
In the song Can t Breathe , FeFe Dobson tells her lover that he was wrong for walking away from their
relationship. She says that he should have made it better, that he broke the promise he made, that they
should have stayed together. Since the breakup, she can t breathe, ... Show more content on

refers back to when they each made what they described as a vow or promise with their lover, to
always stay together. They also share the same belief that they should have been with their lovers
forever. FeFe Dobson says, We should have been forever, just as Aaliyah thought, that we d always be

Ignacia In Beowulf
Once there was a female mortal named Ignacia who roamed freely in the vast forest near her home.
Being naughty and causing trouble with others intrigued her, she was always acting bad, breaking the
peace between everyone. No mortal wanted to make the mistake of making her angry: one spark
would set her temperamental attitude off wild. Aside from her personality, Ignacia had a beautiful,
colorful mixture of hair and a red complexity to her face, like the colors of fire, that she dearly
admired about herself. She had strong, long legs that gave great support to stand her ground, like a tree
trunk, while her hair swayed in the wind, like leaves falling to the ground on a windy day. Overall, she

Ignacia knew she had to change but reluctantly agreed. From there on, Pazia and Ignacia became good
friends and worked on her temper. Staying away from other mortals helped, so they stayed in the
woods isolated from society and restored nature that Ignacia had damaged. Ignacia began to be very
fond of Pazia; she realized that peace was easier and a better lifestyle to live rather than having short
patience and being angry. Destrius, being busy with other things, had not noticed Ignacia changing
until it was too late. He became furious and approached her as she was singing and gardening the
plants. Why have you changed your behavior? I liked it the way it was before, he persuasively said,
hinting to revert her behavior back. Ignacia firmly replied with, Well, hello. I am not interested in that
old life; I love keeping peace and tending nature, as she remembered the old times. Destrius, mad and
jealous that Pazia had taken over, tried to think of a way to change Ignacia back. He knew he would
not be able to change her while alive, so he killed Ignacia and turned her into a wildfire, destroying the
surrounding area. Her body became a tree, and her red orange hair resembled fire as it danced tree to

Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston Analysis
In Zora Neale Hurston s short story Sweat and her essay How It Feels to Be the Colored Me,
illustrates how women are marginalized and treated, but had these texts been written at a different
time, place, language, or to a different audience, it would differ.
In Sweat , Delia Jones was being physically and emotionally abused by her husband Sykes Jones. Not
only was she an African American, but she was a woman that lived in the 1920s. She had no power.
Despite the amount of abuse she suffered, she can not leave because of the circumstances she is in.
She works for a white man, which her husband is upset about, while he does nothing at all. ...Mah tub

There is still discrimination towards African Americans but to a certain extent. Discrimination in the
1920s was much worse, but Zora Neale Hurston is an unapologetic black women, and instead of being
angry, ashamed African American, she expresses it. She doesn t let her skin color define her either,
because she isn t just African American, she s much more than that. She s herself. If this text were
written to a specific audience, like African Americans, some might be confused as to why be her
angry. Aren t you angry for being black, and discriminated against? some may ask. Hurston isn t angry
at all, she is merely astonished that she people are angered, and bothered by the fact that she s black. I
do not belong to the sobbing school of Nergohood... (64) I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife.

isn t going to be miserable because she s black, she will embrace it. She is

Ukraine as a ‘Bridge’ Between Russia and European Union
For my essay I ve chosen the topic: Ukraine as a bridge between Russia and EU . I found it really
interesting, especially in current situation, after the Presidential elections. And, of course, the topic is
very important to me, as I m Ukrainian and studying in the country, which belongs to EU. In this
paper it would be considered: reasons of forming of current situation in Ukraine; relationships and
perspective of development of them with Russia; relationships and perspective of development of
them with EU; current situation after Presidential elections and outcomes of influences it could have

He also failed in choosing right internal and external politic. Also, the victory of Orange revolution
didn t change anything and all separations between regions left, so we can say that Ukrainian people
didn t get what they wanted.
Sooner or later, Ukraine will have to switch to the model of single leader, as it happens in other
democratic countries. We should forget about dividing ourselves on two parts, but this could come
only with time, step by step.
When talking about Russia and Ukraine, few main conflicts in these relationships could be seen,
among them: withdrawal of Chernomor Fleet, Gas problem, and integration of Ukraine to EU and
NATO.
First of all, as a consequence of collapse of Soviet Union, Ukraine appeared to be not in convenient
situation, as it was dependent on Russia s gas and main pipes were going trough Ukraine. Of course,
firstly it was very convenient, as deals with Russia were not that expensive and Ukrainian economy
wasn t that separate from Russia s. But first conflicts were appearing in few years already, like a trial
to change agreement. Orange revolution changed everything upside down. For Russia it was a threat,
because Ukraine was trying to act on its own with opening hand to Europe. And for Russia it was
losing something that it owned and that mentally belonged to it.
First conflict took place in 2005 2006, after negotiations conflict was resolved, however the problem
didn t disappear. Second conflict

The Pros And Cons Of School Shootings
Akin to Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook, reports of another school shooting dominate the
airwaves. On December 7, 2017, at a high school in Aztec, New Mexico, twenty one year old, William
Atchinson, disguised himself as a student and entered the school at 8:00 a.m. He hid in a bathroom
until his first victim, football player, Francisco Fernandez came in. He then shot and killed
cheerleader, Casey Marquez, in the hallway before continuing his spree, firing through walls into
classrooms, attempting to kill more people. All the while, no one on the school staff was able to do
anything except flee, hide, or try to disarm the shooter. His spree ended only when police arrived on
scene and Atchinson turned the gun on himself. School shootings in the US are not a new thing. In
fact, they go back to before this nation s birth. Nevertheless, school shootings have increased and
because of the 24 hour news cycle and social media, Americans are more aware of them. Throughout
the US, debate continues whereby gun control advocates call for stronger laws limiting the availability
of firearms and ammunition, the capacity of magazines and ...tougher carry license requirements,
including requiring proof of mental stability, proof of a reasonable need to own a gun, or mandatory
safety training... (Nedzel 432). Some even call for repealing the Second Amendment completely.
Obversely, equal numbers of US citizens vehemently oppose such broad sweeping and draconian
measures. Many measures

The Strategies Of Finding A Mate
Lauren Soentgen Approach: 1, Source: Buss, 1994
In his article, The Strategies of Finding a Mate, David M. Buss discusses the act of finding a mate and
the characteristics that people are drawn to in a mate. He begins the article with a brief look at the
history of mating and the theories that have previously been proposed. In particular he addressed
Charles Darwin s theory of sexual evolution and belief in preferential mate choice. Buss proposes that
there are three components to human mating. He states that human mating is inherently strategic...
mating strategies are context dependent... [and that] men and women have faced different mating
problems over the course of human evolution and, as a consequence, have evolved different strategies
(Buss, 1994, p. 241). He uses this theory to propose nine different hypotheses to prove that despite
humans being varied and different from each other, all humans look for similar characteristics when
trying to find a mate (Buss, 1994). To investigate his research hypotheses, Buss collected data from
two sources. His first source was college students in the United States. For his second source, Buss
(1994) worked with 50 other scientists in order to survey over 10,000 men and women from around
the world. This was his greatest strength in the article. He had collected so much research that it made
the data seem credible, and the fact that the participants came from diverse backgrounds means it is a
better representation of the

Maggie A Girl Of The Street
Race and gender are topics that are examined not matter what the writing style. Naturalist and realist
writers work is no different in that aspect. However I feel that they way naturalist writers create and
write their female characters. I find that most of the female characters are treated as the weaker sex
within naturalist works. It also is clear that in naturalist works the gender roles are not strictly
enforced. If we take a look at The Yellow Wall Paper and Maggie a Girl of the Streets we can see
many examples of this.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman s short story The Yellow Wallpaper, we as the reader is given an intimate
look at the narrators developing insanity. The reader is treated to an intimate portrait of developing

Later when our narrator finally takes control of her own thoughts we get the true picture of who her
husband is. We no longer see him in a protective, strong leader and husband. Instead we find the role
to be reversed, and we can even see him behaving much like a woman.
Within Maggie tale, which is very much a realist work, we can see the same treatment of women.
Specifically within Maggie s own life. Once her family has discovered that she has slept with Pete she
is shunned, and thrown away. Maggie while not oppressed by one specific person, or the social forces
that are out of her control oppress event like Gilman s narrator is still oppressed .
Both tales tell of a women who is unhappy, unable to escape, and deeply oppressed. I do not think that
women are treated or portrayed any different in either style of writing. Women in general during this
time period are consider to be weak, mild, and meek creatures. They are considered disposable and we
can see that in both of these women. They dream of better lives and want to escape, however they do
not have the means, or the power to do so. The only difference between the two is the Gilman s story,
which is a naturalist work, allows for more freedom with the gender roles and gender role reversal.
However over all realist or naturalist women are oppressed by men and their

Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the building and the surrounding areas of the school.
The Mrs. Sanabria classroom was very organized and safe too. She used technology and classroom
physical resources cleverly because the way she fixed the classroom chairs that seemed appropriate

between her and the learners was evenly distributed. From my point of view, the instructional setting
of this class was warm, open and tolerant. The overall setting of the classroom was pleasant and
productive. There were a good rapport and friendly balance between instructor and learners
interchange. Students participation was dynamic and enthusiastic. The pupils also seemed well
ordered, so the classroom rules must have been well founded. No discrimination or unfairness
prevailed at all. The students seemed to get along and respect one another. Mrs. Sanabria attitude

Although students who work and do not work experience there stress levels differently and according
to the study more working college students experience more of a stress level then non working
students but the most interesting finding in this study is that working college students have a higher
grade point then the non working students (p.384). Suggestions as to why that were presented in the
article is that students who work and go to school full time have the ability to manage their time more
wisely then those who do not work (p.396 387). This data is again represented in another study that
was produced by Lang (2012) which clarifies that college students who work maintain a higher grade
point average then students who do not work (p.250). Another aspect that Lang s experiment clarifies
that more working students spend more time one their studies and working then they do with their
social lives (p.250). This is because students learn how to priorities and in order to priorities they have
to give up something in this case it is their social life. Learning how to prioritize students gain the
ability to develop time management skills that the can use in order to complete the task that they need

Exile And The Kingdom Analysis
In Exile and the Kingdom, Most of the stories are more or less related to religion, Christianity in
particular. For example, the whole story of The Renegade, or A Confused Mind is about the change of
religion s belief of the narrator. For Jonas, or The Artist at Work, the title itself borrows the name of a
Christian character Jonas, who want justice be carried even at the price of disobeying God. In the
growing stone, the suitor agreed to carry a heavy stone to church if he was saved from the shipwreck.
The pray itself is an act of religion. As for the other character ,D Arrast, an engineer from the outside

Arrast had found his inner happiness in this world filled with unfortunate. In comparison, the stone,
which is a symbol of the religion in Iguapo, evoke a sense of heaviness. The people in Iguapo was

With three territories and ten provinces, our home and native land is home to over thirty five million people from an endless amount of backgrounds and nationalities. Canada is widely seen as a painfully polite country, a place with a terribly cold climate and meticulously clean cities. Not only do we have such diverse geographical places, but landscapes that are quite well known in some other areas of the world. Two examples of this would be the excellent ski and snowboard resorts nestled among the mountains in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario, or the surfing beaches along the coast of British Columbia. Many people think that Canada s climate is extremely cold all the time, but really that is only accurate in the northern part of Canada where there is definitely colder weather. The southern area of Canada still encounters snow and minus forty degrees in winter, but at shorter durations than in the north. On the other hand, in the southern parts of our country we do face warmer temperatures. In the Western provinces such as Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, we have had our share of what we would call heat waves, with temperatures up to forty degrees celsius. In the very southern part of British Columbia lies the Osoyoos desert which reaches high temperatures during summer months. The Osoyoos desert is not the only desert in Canada though, the Arctic tundra is sometimes referred to as a cold and harsh desert with permafrost and minimal plant and animal life. • 4. The Effect Of Color On Testing Results The Effect of Color on Testing Results Introduction Our experiment focused on testing scores. We wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test would affect a student s performance on that test. We chose to conduct this experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of students to take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that this way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our results. Our hypothesis was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly on the test than the student would have done on a test with black ink. Our theory was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on previous assignments and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question by giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in red and black ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the ink color. In order to determine whether there was a correlation between ink colors and test scores, we measured the students number of wrong answers on the test, time taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and college. We chose these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation. We measured our results using descriptive statistics, using numbers to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Technology Is Not Science Fiction Implanted with a Chip People today are enamored with the idea of having the latest, coolest technologies in their possession, and no matter what comes down the pipeline they will do whatever it takes to get their hands on it. What would someone do if they found out that there was a piece of technology that would allow them to unlock their car with the palm of their hand, and start the car with that same hand just by touching the steering wheel. How about if they could go to the bank and withdraw money from their account without ever having to pull out their debit card or any form of identification. Now how about this, someone goes to the grocery store fills their cart with everything on their shopping list, and then exits the store never having stopped at the checkout counter. This sounds like a piece of technology that people would want to get their hands on. How would people react to find out that this piece of technology is not science fiction but indeed science fact? Although the idea of putting microchip implants in human beings may have many valuable uses, the potential to make life easier, and seems like the natural progression in technological advancement it should not be taken lightly. Implanting people with microchips is undoubtedly the wrong direction in which to take the society; the implementation of microchip implants will be the catalyst that causes everyone to forgo their freedoms and right to privacy. Similarities Between Wordsworth And Yeats Comparative Essay on Wordsworth and Yeats In Down by the Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats and She Dwelt Among the Untrodden ways by William Wordsworth, the poets use a theme of love while applying imagery consistently throughout the poems. Additionally, Yeats uses repetition to show the passing of time through metaphors while Wordsworth comparatively portrays his inner thoughts. Since they are giving their emotions, Yeats applies similes comparing his love for the beauty of nature whilst Wordsworth is commemorating his love, despite her disappearing from his life. She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways by Wordsworth expresses his emotion towards her as she lives her life only to die isolated. Down by the Salley Gardens by Yeats has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Repetition is utilized to reflect Yeats inner opinion on how he rushed to the relationship. Ultimately resulting in her leaving him. The use of repetition is dominant throughout as the phrases little snow white feet (2) to her snow white hands , my love and I did meet (1) in contrast with my love and I did stand showing repetition while also showing imagery of something snow white. This is important because of how the poem has a parallel structure. Past events have already happened and cannot be changed thus he is reflecting how he regrets not listening to her. As mentioned before, another point of repetition is take love easy with take life easy which could be interpreted as her message to the narrator about learning to relax and slow down. This is supported by how he is reflecting back to when he was still young and foolish (8) thinking about how his life was wasted and not realizing that he is not living life to the fullest, relating back to a theme of regret. However, for Wordsworth, he utilizes metaphors to discuss his feelings. Wordsworth uses a metaphor of being Half hidden from the eye! (6) to visualize the obscurity of the woman. This can be interpreted as a contrast with the line above, mentioning the violet (5) standing out, while the eye has a connotation of omnipotent power and vision, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most alluring elements of comparative politics is the stark contrast one can observe between two or more nations in terms of their sociopolitical climate. Every nation has distinct political intricacies, and one particularly controversial issue that is gaining interest globally is political corruption. Corruption can manifest itself in a myriad of ways in a nation s government regime, and widespread corruption can have significant repercussions on sustainability, the balance of power, and individual rights within a nation state. In 2015, Transparency International ranked North Korea the second most corrupt nation in the world, while Norway was ranked the sixth least corrupt. This paper will examine the staggering juxtaposition in corruption levels between the two nations based on the contrast in their respective governmental regimes and institutions. I for one, would have never guessed that racial equality wasn t truly displayed in textbooks until well after the 1960 s. The Between Socialism And Communism As the cultural Marxist ideology used by liberals in the United States today originates from Europe, understanding what politicians represent will go some way to avoiding further American decline, the slide into a police state and the belief that Obama is a Messiah. The coming 2016 election is arguably the most important ever held. Consequences from the results decide the future of the United States and in which direction it will shift, towards European liberal fascism and equality based Human Rights, alternatively, a return to the constitution. Not understanding leads to an inability to explain the difference between socialism and communism, or equality as an abstract. The well fed social justice warriors of today have replaced the poverty class revolutionaries of yesteryear, with cultural Marxism, explained in an American context. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. • 31. Ukraine as a ‘Bridge’ Between Russia and European Union For my essay I ve chosen the topic: Ukraine as a bridge between Russia and EU . I found it really interesting, especially in current situation, after the Presidential elections. And, of course, the topic is very important to me, as I m Ukrainian and studying in the country, which belongs to EU. In this paper it would be considered: reasons of forming of current situation in Ukraine; relationships and perspective of development of them with Russia; relationships and perspective of development of them with EU; current situation after Presidential elections and outcomes of influences it could have on further position of Ukraine on the international arena. From times of Kyiv Russ Ukrainian land was separated on two parts: eastern and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also failed in choosing right internal and external politic. Also, the victory of Orange revolution didn t change anything and all separations between regions left, so we can say that Ukrainian people didn t get what they wanted. Sooner or later, Ukraine will have to switch to the model of single leader, as it happens in other democratic countries. We should forget about dividing ourselves on two parts, but this could come only with time, step by step. When talking about Russia and Ukraine, few main conflicts in these relationships could be seen, among them: withdrawal of Chernomor Fleet, Gas problem, and integration of Ukraine to EU and NATO. First of all, as a consequence of collapse of Soviet Union, Ukraine appeared to be not in convenient situation, as it was dependent on Russia s gas and main pipes were going trough Ukraine. Of course, firstly it was very convenient, as deals with Russia were not that expensive and Ukrainian economy wasn t that separate from Russia s. But first conflicts were appearing in few years already, like a trial to change agreement. Orange revolution changed everything upside down. For Russia it was a threat, because Ukraine was trying to act on its own with opening hand to Europe. And for Russia it was losing something that it owned and that mentally belonged to it. First conflict took place in 2005 2006, after negotiations conflict was resolved, however the problem didn t disappear. Second conflict ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Pros And Cons Of School Shootings Akin to Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook, reports of another school shooting dominate the airwaves. On December 7, 2017, at a high school in Aztec, New Mexico, twenty one year old, William Atchinson, disguised himself as a student and entered the school at 8:00 a.m. He hid in a bathroom until his first victim, football player, Francisco Fernandez came in. He then shot and killed cheerleader, Casey Marquez, in the hallway before continuing his spree, firing through walls into classrooms, attempting to kill more people. All the while, no one on the school staff was able to do anything except flee, hide, or try to disarm the shooter. His spree ended only when police arrived on scene and Atchinson turned the gun on himself. School shootings in the US are not a new thing. In fact, they go back to before this nation s birth. Nevertheless, school shootings have increased and because of the 24 hour news cycle and social media, Americans are more aware of them. Throughout the US, debate continues whereby gun control advocates call for stronger laws limiting the availability of firearms and ammunition, the capacity of magazines and ...tougher carry license requirements, including requiring proof of mental stability, proof of a reasonable need to own a gun, or mandatory safety training... (Nedzel 432). Some even call for repealing the Second Amendment completely. Obversely, equal numbers of US citizens vehemently oppose such broad sweeping and draconian measures. Many measures ... • 33. The Strategies Of Finding A Mate Lauren Soentgen Approach: 1, Source: Buss, 1994 In his article, The Strategies of Finding a Mate, David M. Buss discusses the act of finding a mate and the characteristics that people are drawn to in a mate. He begins the article with a brief look at the history of mating and the theories that have previously been proposed. In particular he addressed Charles Darwin s theory of sexual evolution and belief in preferential mate choice. Buss proposes that there are three components to human mating. He states that human mating is inherently strategic... mating strategies are context dependent... [and that] men and women have faced different mating problems over the course of human evolution and, as a consequence, have evolved different strategies (Buss, 1994, p. 241). He uses this theory to propose nine different hypotheses to prove that despite humans being varied and different from each other, all humans look for similar characteristics when trying to find a mate (Buss, 1994). To investigate his research hypotheses, Buss collected data from two sources. His first source was college students in the United States. For his second source, Buss (1994) worked with 50 other scientists in order to survey over 10,000 men and women from around the world. This was his greatest strength in the article. He had collected so much research that it made the data seem credible, and the fact that the participants came from diverse backgrounds means it is a better representation of the ... • 34. Maggie A Girl Of The Street Race and gender are topics that are examined not matter what the writing style. Naturalist and realist writers work is no different in that aspect. However I feel that they way naturalist writers create and write their female characters. I find that most of the female characters are treated as the weaker sex within naturalist works. It also is clear that in naturalist works the gender roles are not strictly enforced. If we take a look at The Yellow Wall Paper and Maggie a Girl of the Streets we can see many examples of this. Charlotte Perkins Gilman s short story The Yellow Wallpaper, we as the reader is given an intimate look at the narrators developing insanity. The reader is treated to an intimate portrait of developing insanity. The story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later when our narrator finally takes control of her own thoughts we get the true picture of who her husband is. We no longer see him in a protective, strong leader and husband. Instead we find the role to be reversed, and we can even see him behaving much like a woman. Within Maggie tale, which is very much a realist work, we can see the same treatment of women. Specifically within Maggie s own life. Once her family has discovered that she has slept with Pete she is shunned, and thrown away. Maggie while not oppressed by one specific person, or the social forces that are out of her control oppress event like Gilman s narrator is still oppressed . Both tales tell of a women who is unhappy, unable to escape, and deeply oppressed. I do not think that women are treated or portrayed any different in either style of writing. Women in general during this time period are consider to be weak, mild, and meek creatures. They are considered disposable and we can see that in both of these women. They dream of better lives and want to escape, however they do not have the means, or the power to do so. The only difference between the two is the Gilman s story, which is a naturalist work, allows for more freedom with the gender roles and gender role reversal. However over all realist or naturalist women are oppressed by men and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Observation In A Classroom I observed that Saint Cloud High School s facilities were flawless, and the green areas were well kept, it has modern and innovative technology that provide students with permanent opportunities for skill preparation. I also detected that the security is, for instance, well intentioned to keep the students safe. Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the building and the surrounding areas of the school. The Mrs. Sanabria classroom was very organized and safe too. She used technology and classroom physical resources cleverly because the way she fixed the classroom chairs that seemed appropriate for her planned learning activities. One of the main advantages I noticed of having such chairs setting is that she was able to address more often all her students. Consequently, the amount of interaction between her and the learners was evenly distributed. From my point of view, the instructional setting of this class was warm, open and tolerant. The overall setting of the classroom was pleasant and productive. There were a good rapport and friendly balance between instructor and learners interchange. Students participation was dynamic and enthusiastic. The pupils also seemed well ordered, so the classroom rules must have been well founded. No discrimination or unfairness prevailed at all. The students seemed to get along and respect one another. Mrs. Sanabria attitude always looked confident, and she is continually looking at herself reflectively to assess situations and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although students who work and do not work experience there stress levels differently and according to the study more working college students experience more of a stress level then non working students but the most interesting finding in this study is that working college students have a higher grade point then the non working students (p.384). Suggestions as to why that were presented in the article is that students who work and go to school full time have the ability to manage their time more wisely then those who do not work (p.396 387). This data is again represented in another study that was produced by Lang (2012) which clarifies that college students who work maintain a higher grade point average then students who do not work (p.250). Another aspect that Lang s experiment clarifies that more working students spend more time one their studies and working then they do with their social lives (p.250). This is because students learn how to priorities and in order to priorities they have to give up something in this case it is their social life. Learning how to prioritize students gain the ability to develop time management skills that the can use in order to complete the task that they need to get done; whether it would be ... • 37. Exile And The Kingdom Analysis In Exile and the Kingdom, Most of the stories are more or less related to religion, Christianity in particular. For example, the whole story of The Renegade, or A Confused Mind is about the change of religion s belief of the narrator. For Jonas, or The Artist at Work, the title itself borrows the name of a Christian character Jonas, who want justice be carried even at the price of disobeying God. In the growing stone, the suitor agreed to carry a heavy stone to church if he was saved from the shipwreck. The pray itself is an act of religion. As for the other character ,D Arrast, an engineer from the outside who didn t believe in religion, he carried out the stone after the suitor fell down but sent it to the suitor s home, instead of the church. ... After he successfully carried the stone back to the suitor s house, he depicted his feelings in details: Inhaling with desperate gulps the familiar smell of poverty and ashes, he listened to the wave of joy surging inside him, dark and panting, which he could not name (165) There is an contrast between the earthy ambiance and his inner satisfaction. It implies that due to his helping of the suitor, in other words, his own kindness, D Arrast had found his inner happiness in this world filled with unfortunate. In comparison, the stone, which is a symbol of the religion in Iguapo, evoke a sense of heaviness. The people in Iguapo was burdened by its religion instead of pursuing happiness. However, because of D Arrast act, the statues of religion had changed little by little, it is implied by the text: In the center of the room, in the hearth space, the stone was half buried in cinders and earth.
