A Good Man Is Hard To Find Grandmother Character Analysis
The grandmother who was not named in the Story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O
Connor, had a larger than life personality and she likes to pass judgement on to others. This character
lived with her son Bailey, her daughter in law and her two grandchildren in the state of Georgia. The
grandmother is the main character in this story, she is smart, ladylike, judgmental, and the whole story
revolves around her.
My favorite character in the story is the grandmother. She brings out the characteristics of an old
southern woman. The first thing that grabbed my attention about this character is when she marked
down the mileage on the car. This shows her smartness and attentiveness. It is a unique trait and she
thinks ahead of everyone. The grandmother wrote this down because she thought it would be
interesting to say how many miles they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was dressed in her best clothes. The author shows the details of her attire vividly. You can see her
picture as you read the story, ... had on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on
the brim and a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. She even added that she wanted to
be lady like if she died in a road accident. In case of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the
highway would know at once that she was a lady. (O Connor, pg. 309).
Her persuasive power is weak at first when she told the family to cancel the trip to Florida and instead
go to Tennessee but they declined her request. However she deceives them by telling them about a
plantation she visited when she was young and colored it into a beautiful place until the children
bought into to her idea. The back road they took led them into the hands of The Misfit and their
demise. The grandmother murmured that, It would be very educational for them. (O Connor, 313.).
Bailey gave in to the whole persuasiveness and followed the dirt road that led them into the

Connection Between Certainty And Doubt
The words certainty and doubt have many varying connotations and implications given a specific
context. Even though the definitions of these two words are considered polar opposites of each other,
there is one connection between the two that is undeniable: both certainty and doubt can be taken with
a grain of salt, as they are all merely just opinions specific to the person that those concepts are
presented to. Adding on to that, there is also a concept relating to this; the idea that there is always the
certainty of doubt and that they are merely two sides of the same coin. That being said, it should be
taken into consideration on exactly how certainty and doubt are interpreted together. By textbook
definition, certainty is often viewed as the undeniable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea that there are no objective and undeniable opinions, but rather the existence of subjectivity, is
the premise on which the concepts of certainty and doubt are based upon. If, say, a set of beliefs act as
one s philosophy for way of life, what s not to say that they d reject another s beliefs on the same
matter? Or rather, take into consideration the other s beliefs to account for or to adjust their own?
Take, for instance, the Red Scare of the early 1950 s. Due to the heightened tensions between the U.S.
and the Soviet Union during the Cold War (coupled along with the fact that Soviet spies in America
had existed back in WWII), the U.S. had increasingly become more conservative in an effort to
prevent the ideas of communism taking over the country; examples that had prompted this response
were communist influences on the governments of China and North Korea at the time, causing a mass
hysteria for communism spreading throughout the world. This is a perfect example of how certainty

Schooling for All
One of the most debated arguments in the area of education has been the fight to make more single sex
schools available for students. Co ed schooling has been the standard for education that many children
enjoy being in. Many argue however that changing schools to be single sex is one of the best solutions
to upgrade the education for children. However, a school that provides single sex education is not
automatically a better school than a coeducational one. Thus, when seeing the whole picture, single
sex education is the same, if not worse than co education.
The enforcement of single sex education has many drawbacks, such as the increase of separation in
the relationships between genders. By keeping people of different sexes away from each other, the two
groups of people will slowly start to become unknown to each other when interactions between the
two genders are supposed to be a natural occurrence. Diane F. Halpern, a professor of psychology at
Claremont McKenna College along with a few other professor state that: Furthermore, a recent meta
analysis found support for the intergroup contact hypothesis that is, segregation of groups promotes
stereotyping and prejudice toward the other group, whereas intergroup contact reduces such
stereotyping and prejudice, among children, adolescents, and adults. (Halpern et al.167) According to
their research, by offering

The Importance Of Life On Earth
Earth is living and breathing planet, it takes a lot of energy to keep the Earth health, to keep all its
inhabitants functioning. Earth is a special planet because it is the only know planet that can allow life
to thrive. Earth receive a tremendous amount of energy from the Sun, solar energy is necessary for life
on Earth. A planet filled with life needs water, it is one of the essential pieces for all humans, animals,
and plants. Earth is cover primarily by water, a unique substance that keeps life going. Water is unique
in many ways, water is the only liquid found at Earth s surface in large quantities...is readily converted
from one state of matter to another (solid, liquid, gas), and water s solid phase, ice, is less dense than
liquid water (Lutgens 90, 2016). All these unique attributes of water make life on earth easy for all its
inhabitants. On a warm day, a cold drink of water with ice can be refreshing, just like a dip in a cold
late, the same can be said for a warm cup of tea in the middle of the winter. Water moves through
Earth; the process of waters movement is explained by the hydrologic cycle. The hydrologic cycle is
the continuous exchange of water among the oceans, the atmosphere, and the continents. The
hydrologic cycle has several essential parts, evaporation, transportation, and precipitation.
Evaporation is the action of water moving into the atmosphere where it condenses and forms clouds,
moisture is then transported in the atmosphere all over earth

However, based on the article, Malaysia Air s main union leaned on the country s politicians to squash
the share swap because of concerns about cost cuts. Those fears were well founded. Malaysia Air has
been bleeding losses because of rising competition and soaring fuel prices. The tie up was meant to
reduce overlap between the two Malaysia based carriers on some routes, cut expenses and help shore
up Malaysia Air s balance sheet. AirAsia s shares have lost about a quarter of their value since the
swap was announced last year. There is room to rise. According to the Winning Customers in the
Marketplace model there are nine criteria that a firm should follow to enhance their market share,
depending on the level of competition and customers needs, these criterion are all important for
customers in selecting a service provider, if AirAsia is able to meet these measures they can increase

At Fault Character Review Essay
A Woman Ahead of Her Time The Land of the Free, the Home of the Brave ; these are the words that
since 1814 have been used to describe the spirit of the country that we call America. For many, this
country symbolizes a history of just that; bravery and freedom. But what does it mean to be an
American? Does it simply mean that a person is born in to the country, or does it mean that they
empower the character traits used to describe the country itself? When describing America and what it
is to be or behave as an American, there are many traits that are often used such as brave,
hardworking, strong, having the ability to overcome obstacles, a belief in equality and freedom for all,
being a groundbreaker, and having a strong, direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therese had not reached the age of thirty five without learning that life presents many insurmountable
obstacles which must be accepted, whether with the callousness of philosophy, the revolt of weakness
or the dignity of self respect. (Chopin) Although the death of her husband was very hard on her, and at
times she found herself wishing that she had died alongside him, she was forced to stand up, be strong,
and assume the role that her late husband had played. She did not ask anyone for help, instead she did
what was called upon her. She was strong and she refused to break under the extremely large
emotional burden and responsibility that had been placed upon her. Having independence and pride in
oneself and the things that they believe in are traditionally American traits that Therese also has within
herself. Therese possessed an independence of thought exceptional enough when considered in
relation to her life and its surrounding conditions. (Chopin) As a woman who had taken on many
challenges and responsibilities, she carried herself with pride and did not allow the death of her
husband or the burden that had come of it distract her from who she was and what she had to do.
Therese was an independent woman who had no qualms about speaking her mind. She had pride in
what she believed in and didn t let others come in the way of that. Eventually, David Hosmer, one of

A Short Note On The Uses And Functions Of A Server On...
BIND in Linux BIND (Berkeley Internet name domain) is the most commonly used DNS (domain
name system) server on the Internet, and it is the defacto standard on Linux and other Unix like
operating systems. DNS is the name resolution (i.e., translation) system that permits users to locate
computers on a network by using their domain name rather than their IP addresses. IP addresses,
which form the basis of addressing on the Internet and most other networks, each can contain as many
as 12 digits under the currently mainstream IPv4 addressing scheme (or as many as 32 hexadecimal
digits under the next generation IPv6 addressing scheme). It can be difficult for humans to remember
such addresses, but it is relatively easy for them to remember domain names, which typically use
alphabetic characters and consist of words, abbreviations or acronyms. BIND provides an openly
redistributable reference implementation of the major components of the DNS, including a DNS
server (called named), a DNS resolver library and tools for verifying the proper operation of the DNS
server. The resolver library is a collection of functions written in the C programming language that
provides hostname to IP address and IP address to hostname lookup services.BIND was originally
written at University of California at Berkeley (UCB) as a graduate student project under a grant from
the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA). The acronym BIND
originally stood for Berkeley Internet

Inhorn s Analysis
Inhorn talks of the emerging areas of dissonance and dissent to the prevailing religious discourse
(2012a: 165), indicating that men more readily challenge the religious laws that are in place. The
setting that most embodies this observation is the semen collection clinic, where men must provide a
sample of their semen for analysis. Here, men encounter a number of obstacles that are so contrary to
their religious beliefs, but they must confront them to achieve their desire for children. The first is that
of masturbation, which, as discussed in the previous chapter, denotes something considered zina or
illegal sexual activity by many men and many religious leaders. Furthermore, semen itself is seen as
something polluting once it leaves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are disparities between religious leaders in the region such as Ayatollah Khamene i
who permits sperm donation as an option to cure ones infertility. Morgan Clarke talks about how
Islam seeks to keep(ing) up with the times and this is especially apparent in Lebanon where there is a
high number of azoospermia cases men who have no viable semen whatsoever (Clarke, 2009; Inhorn
2012a). As a result, in Lebanon, there is much greater leniency towards sperm donation amongst
religious leaders and medical practitioners because it is the only option left for these men. The belief
however is that a child should be created within a legal marital structure and any outside or third party
interference in the form of another man s semen would disrupt this. Lineal masculinity , outlines the
difference between the roles of men and women in reproduction (King and Stone, 2010). Men need to
reproduce to preserve their lineage, and contribute to the lineage of their family that has accumulated
over generations. For men, lineage is collective, and any break in the passage of lineage from one
generation to the next, would result in the abolition of all that came before. These serious notions
underline why this type of NRT is so difficult to comprehend for these men. A man who categorically
ruled out sperm donation as a solution in Inhorn s study stated,

Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To Darkness
Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it must, if we are to call
it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that darkness must be considered in relation to light;
that a thing cannot be without its opposite, since any one member of an antithesis cannot exist without
a counter member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot be compared to a black one without the
black one being present; A cannot be compared to B unless B is present; by extension, an antithesis
works by expressing two extremities of any one quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we
were to evaluate colour, white suggests the prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice
versa. But, to what degree is blackness said to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities? Is
one merely the absence of the other? Is so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one existent thing to a
non existent thing. Suppose we are to compare lightness to darkness: if light is said to exist, as an
emission which illuminates darkness, then light can only be considered as something which
illuminates darkness, and thus can only be considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to
call darkness that thing which covers light, it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which
supposes that both exist; but, if we suppose that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence of
light but must rather be covering of it. We run into problems,

that information is shared on the television screens inside the church, even if the sermon or worship is

The main door to the church auditorium opens to the south of the coffee lab. A nursing room for

Cyrus the Great, or Kourosh e Bozorg in Persian, was the founder of the Archaemenid Empire (also
known as the Persian Empire). Within his 29 years of Kingship, he had managed to create a legacy
that lasts to this day through his military campaigns against several empires, conquering the lands

Herodotus wrote the most about Cyrus, and his birth story written by him is the one most accepted, on
the other hand this birth story could also be called a folk story as it mentions Cyrus as having
superhuman qualities.
According to Herodotus, Astyages, who was the king of the Median Empire, gave his daughter to an
ally in Persis named Cambyses. While his daughter was pregnant, Astyages dreamt of the baby
overthrowing him and destroying his success when it grew older. Astyages then ordered his grandson
to be killed, but that order was not carried out as his chief advisor gave the baby to a Shepard. 10 years
later, Astyages was unexpectedly reunited with his grandson when he went to discover what he
believed to be a random child with superhuman qualities. Astyages was convinced by his chief advisor
to let Cyrus live. Another birth story is written by Ctesias (another Greek historian), who claimed that
Cyrus was not royal. Instead, he was born into a nomad tribe from Mard. His mother (Argste) dreamt
of her unborn son becoming a great king. Cyrus was born and grew up as a servant of Astyages, and
Astyages sent Cyrus to supress a revolt; however he did not obey the orders and he participated in the
revolt against Astyages, which resulted in him losing his throne and Cyrus gaining it.

Smoking Vs Grilling Research
If you want to become a grilling expert, it is important to learn about the two main ways to cook over
an open flame: smoking and grilling. What are their main differences? Is the flavor from one different
from the flavor from the other? We will consider these questions and more as we look at smoking vs.
grilling. What is the difference between smoking and grilling?
Smoking is an ancient method of preserving meats using smoke, indirect heat and low cooking
temperatures. The original reason for using this method had more to do with preserving the meat than
with flavor. These days, it is used mostly for the flavor and for making meat tender by breaking down
the connective tissue in it. Properly smoked meats acquire a smoke ring. This term refers to the layer
of meat just beneath the exterior. It is especially visible in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas the heat used to smoke meat is indirect and low, the heat used for grilling is direct and high.
Grilling is not so much about breaking down collagen and making meat tender as it is about
caramelizing the exterior and sealing in juices to keep the interior moist. What about taste?
The flavor of grilled meat versus the flavor slow smoked meat is the basis of yet another big culinary
debate. Many chefs believe that the flavor of slow smoked meat is superior to that of grilled meat;
however, it is possible to have best of both worlds with the use of wood chips or wood chunks. The
ideal wood for smoking is thought to come from certain species of fruit or nut trees. Apple, peach and
pecan woods are all thought to be excellent for slow smoking meats. Can you get a smoky flavor from
grilling?
Yes, you can. One of the easiest ways to do this with a charcoal grilling is to add wood chips. Simply
toss a handful of chips onto your smoldering coals to create smoke that will flavor your meat. You can
also mix chunks of wood in with the coals to smoke meat for longer

A Christian Reading of Hamlet Essay
A Christian Reading of Hamlet
In a famous article, The Christian Tragic Hero, Poet W. H. Auden defines a Christian tragic hero
according to the Judeo Christian view that all people are moral agents and own responsibility for their
actions. One of his examples is Macbeth, who listens to the witches and is tempted to commit a crime
that he knows is wrong. Auden says that the audience s response to Macbeth s fall is, What a pity it
was this way when it might have been otherwise. This contrasts with the pagan tragic hero, like
Oedipus, who is bound by fate. Because Oedipus can do nothing about his ancestry, the audience s
response is, What a pity it had to happen this way. 1

Indeed, he is echoing the well known Bible warning:
For Satan himself is transformed into an Angel of light. Therefore it is not great thing though his
ministers transform themselves, as though they were the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall
be according to their works. (II Corinthians 11:14,15)4
Hamlet expresses a moral awareness here, just as Macbeth did when admitted to himself and his wife
that murder was wrong. Hamlet is admitting that he could be deceived. He goes on in the above
soliloquy, though, to justify himself saying he will use The Murder of Gonzago play to see whether or
not the ghost is lying.
The Geneva Bible on Ghosts
Shakespeare s England was patriotically Protestant. From a Protestant perspective there is even more
than just the possibility of deception. The Bible prohibits any consultation with the dead.
Let none be found among you that...asketh counsel of the dead...because of these abominations the
Lord thy God doth cast them out before thee. (Deuteronomy 18:10 12)
Just as Hamlet acknowledges in the above quotation, the result of consulting the dead is being cast out
being damned.

on God, but he is still looking for advice before going to battle against the Philistines. He goes a

The abundance of harmonies never loses the thread to his audience. Furthermore, the opening of the
slow movement inspires the imagination and attention of its listeners. All these elements make this
piece one of the most successful concertos in the musical history.
GERMAN ROMANTICISM
Romanticism. Romanticism is characterized by its impressive expressiveness in harmonic and
thematic process with an increasing weight of chromatic and dissonant elements. There is a new
tendency to give a particular importance to timber, texture and rhythm. Like the Renaissance after the
Middle Ages, Romantic composers want to express the new found independence of the humanity that
is no longer under the constraining influence of the strict model that classical composers follow. Some
Romantic compositions express a powerful individualism while others express the beauties and terrors
of nature, but the most common theme is nationalism.
Germany. German Romanticism is mainly represented by music rather than other forms of art because
Germany is a country very rich in musical history. The three B s of the greatest composers, Bach,
Beethoven, and Brahms, are all German. Although Bruch, whose name also begins with a B, is not as
famous as them, his Violin Concerto No. 1, which follows the Romantic aesthetics, is certainly an
extremely renowned piece in the violin repertoire.
Genre of this Concerto. This Violin Concerto, which is composed in 1866, belongs to the Romantic

Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells
What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms (biology

synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man to maintain homeostasis. The cells that
work in harmony consist of an array of cells such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various
cells work together they form a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many
had their theory of what composed life. Greek philosophers believed that everything consisted of

The nucleolus is where the ribosomes or protein factories are manufactured. From its production it is
exported through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm to begin its protein manufacturing. The
second major part of the eukaryotic cell is the cytoplasm. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or
matrix. This jellylike fluid allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also
contains many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within it to create
chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give added structure to the cell, the
cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being squashed. The cytoskeleton is composed of large,
hollow rods called microtubules. This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also
hold the organelles in place. The hollow rods act as highways for transporting goods around the cell.
The proteins from the ribosomes or protein factories can be packaged into a special container where

Satoru Iwata, CEO Nintendo 2002
Company Background/Product Nintendo is a consumer product that is literally changing the game,
and this is only the beginning, whether veteran gamers like it or not. Nintendo Wii attracts new
customers, old people, young people, girls who do not already play video games and people who look
down on them. Founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi in 1889, Nintendo started in making playing cards.
Today the global company is led by Satoru Iwata, the fourth and current president, while the Nintendo

A product life cycle illustrates the phases that a product goes through during its existence. The Wii
since its introduction in 2006 shows a continual upwards sloping showing no sign of decline. This
shows that Nintendo has redefined what was traditionally thought to be the video game console life
cycle. The Nintendo Wii, based on increasing but less significant sales, is in the Growth phase and
possible early Maturity phase of the product cycle.
The Market
The target market for video gaming at the time Nintendo Wii was introduced was primarily males
eighteen to thirty five. The Marketing Theory explains that you have to identify uncovered needs in a
market, segment or divide this market according to a criterion, decide which segments you want to go
for and define a marketing plan and proposition coherent with it. It seems to be really easy, but real
life shows that it is not! All industries are full of me too products instead of innovative approaches.
Nintendo has been extremely smart in their approach as it has discovered and attacked a new and
unexplored segment in the video console market. They have found users that want to have fun and do
not look for best of the best graphic resolution (Playstation and X Box target group), but for ease of
use and simplicity. By doing this, they have been able to expand the video game market, attracting
new users that would not have purchase a

Paycheck Fairness Essay
Paycheck Fairness Act Valuing the Employee The Paycheck Fairness Act can aid an organization in
laying the foundation to value employees equally and add a level of transparency without retaliation.
The vantage point of paying everyone equally, regardless of race, gender, religious and/or sexual
preference may seem as an obvious option as we are all created equal. The vantage point of paying a
person what they are worth, what type of experience they may bring to the table, or what value they
could potentially add also provides a sensible solution to paycheck discrepancies. Bridging the gap

The Effects of Subsidizing R D Projects
The effect of startup businesses on economic wealth is a hot topic nowadays. Not everyone agrees
with the current policies concerning entrepreneurship and its effect on innovation, job creation and
economic growth. Shane is one of those people who clearly disagrees with current incentives given by
the government (Shane, 2009). According to him, policy makers should no longer motivate typical
start ups by providing incentives to start a business like loans, subsidies and tax benefits. This namely
attracts marginal entrepreneurs that have a relatively high chance of failure. Instead, policy makers
should focus on the extraordinary entrepreneurs and help them by subsidizing R D projects at small
companies. According to Shane, those funds are much more likely to contribute to economic growth
and to create jobs. In this paper, I want to address this topic and investigate whether this really is the
case. The research question that will be answered is:
Is it possible for governments to pick winners to supply with R D subsidies and is this good policy?
First of all, I will investigate whether it is possible to categorize entrepreneurs into winners and losers
and subsequently I will analyze whether R D funds really contribute to economic growth and create
jobs. Furthermore, I will comment on fairness problems and unfair competition that could arise when
providing funds to elected firms only. Shane s suggestion to improve current policies is to reallocate
resources and

Cavendish s The Blazing World
In Cavendish s The Blazing World, some of the first elements of science fiction were introduced to the
readers at the time of its original publish. Cavendish used what she called her fancies along with
arguments of her natural philosophy to create a different world that related to the one she was in and
the products of her imagination. Thus, science fictional elements are introduced. This did not only
give evidence to her philosophical theories but also entertained the idea of them. By bringing forth the
material world within the immaterial Cavendish establishes a solidity in her natural philosophy. The

Without mind intertwining itself with matter nature would be too complex for man to fully understand.
The immaterial world cannot be explained without the material world meaning not only is there truth
in Cavendish s philosophy, but also life within matter is important to further the pursuit of science and
natural philosophy. The importance of mind in matter is evident when the Empress tries to make a
world without it and the Duchess tells her your Majesty s mind is full of rational corporeal motions,
and the rational motions of my mind shall assist you by the help of sensitive expressions (Cavendish
189). The rational corporeal motions the Empress s mind do not allow for a rational motion of matter,
in which matter would be rational with its sense. The Duchess assists the Empress with sensible
expressions that will allow there to be peace within her immaterial world in nature and society.
Creating an immaterial world within an already immaterial world of Cavendish s mind allows her to
express the bottom line of mind in matter. Science fiction demonstrates the necessity of unity within

Heroine Epidemic Research Paper
The York community has been very effective in dealing with the heroine epidemic. Some efforts that
have been most effective in dealing with it are NARCAN, the Good Samaritan Law, and the rehab
program that the York and Adams county drug councilor talked about on Thursday. NARCAN has
been very effected because, like I said before, it s a medication that can save someone life after an
overdose. It doesn t always work right away so if it doesn t it can be injected again. It works 80 90
percent of the time. It can be injected into someone. It also could be a nasal spray up their nose.

The Good Samaritan Law says that if someone has overdosed and whoever is with them calls 911 to
get them help, the person that called will not be in trouble for having drugs. This is so effective
because it has raised the probability of someone calling 911 if their friend has overdosed. Before this a
lot of people would just leave the scene and let someone die just so that they don t get in trouble. This
is a really great law to have in my opinion. Other than this law effecting the heroine epidemic, the
rehab that the York and Adams County drug counselors talked about is also very effective. On
Thursday when they came in, the last presenter talked about a certain rehab for people who are
addicted to heroine. It seemed like a really good place to go to help addictions. When he talked about
the specific rehab and the people in it he seemed like a really good, caring person. I think people like

How Does Shakespeare Present Jealousy In Othello
Explore How Shakespeare Presents The Theme Of Jealousy In Othello
During Elizabethan times, jealousy had a significantly wider meaning than it does in today s society.
Then, it was most often used in order to indicate suspicion of someone s sexual partner. Within the
play, Shakespeare has used two of the main characters, Iago and Othello in order to represent the
jealousy, specifically focussing on the tragedy it can cause and how jealousy can lead to the downfall
of the perceived tragic hero.
The character of Iago is extremely envious of those who he deems to be of higher power than him or
have what he desires, such as Cassio being giving the lieutenancy over him, Othello having

During Elizabethan times, being cuckolded severely damaged your reputation beyond repair and left
society with a lower view of you, it also made you an easy target for humiliation. He warns Othello to
beware of jealousy, O, beware, my lord, of jealousy!/It is the green eyed monster, which doth
mock/The meat it feeds on. Through this metaphor, Iago is slyly persuading Othello to think about the
jealousy that mocks the jealous person. The phrase green eyed monster implies the destruction that can
come from jealousy through the connotations of the noun monster , plus the colour green connotes
envy, greed, and jealousy. His warning directly indicates the chaotic impact that jealousy will have on
Othello s life and foreshadows the way in which Othello s irrational jealousy will make a fool out of
him and lead to his downfall. At the same time, Iago knows that telling Othello not to be jealous will

Banks would lend money to these prospective home buyers without checking the amount of incoming

government financial institutions whom had bought these pooled mortgages filed for bankruptcy soon

The Crime Of Serial Killers
Serial killers are everywhere, all around you and those you know and love. Although the average
estimated count is thirty to fifty, it has been estimated that as many as two hundred of these maniacs
are active throughout the entire United States at any given moment. Some people claim to have a
pretty good idea of that which surrounds serial murder. Who are these deranged beasts which cause so
much terror and commotion? By definition, serial killers are men or women who have taken the lives
of at least three victims over an extended period of time. However, those words do not even come
close to properly expressing the complexity of a psychopathic, homicidal mind. Most killers murder
merely for pleasure, rather than for profit. There are a plethora of negative influences that help to push
a potential killer over the edge. For example, western society s culture puts emphasis on sex and
violence. Those who grow up in such an environment often become desensitized to these things and
lose compassion for victims of even the most gruesome crimes. This inevitably does not mix at all
well with inclinations to kill. Usually, the victims of serial murder are strangers chosen based on the
difficulty of manipulating the person and vulnerability. Young runaways and prostitutes are
subsequently most frequently targeted, as history has shown that there is little public outcry
concerning the deaths of those types of people. Additionally, even though the patterns among killers

The Major League Baseball (MLB) even has teams in Canada. New York is the city we are talking

Paternalism And Boxing Essay
The violent sport of boxing has been commonly seen as immoral due to its violent nature. Many
studies have looked into the physical impacts of participating in boxing and have found that the risks
may not be worth the reward, but when compared to other sports, boxing is relatively similar in
violent nature. Between 1945 and 1981, 339 individuals died while partaking in the sport of boxing
(Cohen, 1984). When looking at boxers head scans, 41% of athletes had anomalies in the brain, where
in other sports, only 14% of athletes had brain anomalies (Cohen, 1984). Boxers all scored lower in
intelligence tests compared to other athletes (Cohen, 1984). The main question being extrapolated
from this evidence, is how can society continue to allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is commonly introduced to sport because many times boxers do not have the mental
capacity, age, or competence to consent to boxing, therefore many believe that a paternalistic figure
needs to assist with decision making. One would believe, in this case that the law should interfere for
the good of the persons involved, in a way that it acts to ensure that there are health warnings on
cigarette packages (Davis, 1993, p.49). To further discuss this notion, discourses surrounding
paternalism need to be examined in consideration to boxing. Paternalism is defined as the interference
of liberty for what is believed to be for the own good of the individual. This interventionism looks out
for the safety of both boxers and the community and therefore looks out for the better good of the
community as a communitivistic approach. An athletes community, meaning the people who surround
the sport of boxing, can takeover in cases where it feels like everyone is being harmed in some sense
of the word. The reason why communities believe that boxing is worse off than other violent sports is
because of its inherently violent nature. Sports such as football, and hockey do not base their
fundamental sporting rules around violence. As boxing is a largely viewed sport, this inherent violence
can be familiarized with the audience as an act that is okay and acceptable, illustrating that children
and adults will walk out of the match thinking that violence is morally justified. As boxing is so
adamantly available to the public, on television and in the ring; it can prescribe an attitude of unsafe
behavior and growing norms surrounding the acceptance of violence in general, not pertaining to
sport. This point proves that individuals are very intertwined with community and traditional ways

egg cell from which we took out the nucleus. Then they derive stem cells form that and those are the
genetic match. So pretty much they are supplanting the nucleus from a somatic cell to an egg cell.
A potential application of stem cells is making cells and tissues for medical therapies. In the modern
world, organs and tissues that are donated can be supplanted with diseased or destroyed ones.
Unfortunately, we have the number of people needing a transplant exceeding the number of organs
available. Pluripotent stem cells offer a source of replacement cells and tissues to treat a variety of
diseases, conditions, and disabilities including Parkinson s disease, blood cancer, amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis, Alzheimer s disease, spinal cord injury, burns, heart disease, diabetes, blood disorders, and
arthritis. Anyone suffering from these common diseases or disorders can be benefited from the stem
cell research applications.
There are many arguments when talking about stem cells research. Some are for it and some are
against it. The pros are that stem cell research can potentially treat or prevent various types of medical
conditions and diseases. It could lead us to better treatment and possibly cure certain

What My Grandmother Mean To Me Research Paper
I d walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball. Pete Rose, one of the greatest players to ever
step foot on a baseball field, couldn t have said it better. I would do anything to play baseball because
to me it s just the most important thing in life.
One of the most influential people in my life is my Grandma. She is always telling me how great of a
young man I am and how she always has faith in what i m doing. She has also taught me many lessons
about being a better person. This made me realize the importance of having a good work ethic, and
how having a good work ethic will get you very far in life. Helping her in the garden planting all the

Definitely not kids though, i hate little kids. They drive me crazy and dont have the patience to deal
with them. But even in 10 years i still want to remain very close with my friends from High School.
We are together so much it s crazy to think one day we won t see each other everyday. There is rarely
a weekend where we don t either stay overnight or go longboarding for 4 5 hours.
I want to continue riding longboards as long as possible especially with friends because its so fun. But
if the MLB path does not work out i want to continue playing baseball also as it is one of my passions
in life.
In order to be able to play in the MLB I would have to go to a pretty good baseball school. My dream
school would be USC, they have a very good baseball program and if I played well would definitely
have a shot of making it in the MLB. But another good baseball school would be UW Whitewater,
they have won 2 national championships in the last 8 years.
Most professional baseball players make around $4.4 million, while still getting $100 a day for meals.
This would be a very good wage while still having the entire winter off from doing anything other
than workouts. Pete Rose, 4,256 hits later, always hustling no matter what. As long as he was playing
baseball he was happy. That s just what it s like for me, as long as there is baseball i ll be

Comparing The Edible Woman And The Handmaid s Tale
A want is often described as a strong desire for something while a need is a necessity or something
required because of importance. In The Edible Woman and The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood
explores the world in which men are the center, and women are merely extras in society. In both
novels, the female protagonist has her practical needs met, but her more fundamental need for freedom
and love is not met, at least not initially. It takes a willingness to rebel against society a culture
controlled by men to secure those more basic needs. In the end, both protagonists attain complete
freedom through the love they find during the novel.
In The Edible Woman, Atwood describes the life of Marian McAlpin, a market research company
worker, who all of the sudden, unsettlingly realizes that her relationship with her boyfriend, Peter, is
getting more serious than she had previously thought. She tries to avoid this problem by running away,
but she accepts Peter s proposal to marry her later that night and succumbs to the male dominated
society in which women are destined to be married. Peter is the ideal husband, since he is a lawyer and

The novel is set as a taped interview with Offred, one of the few fertile women left. Offred s story
provides a view of a frightening future in which racism and homophobia run rampant, personal
freedom is lost, sexual practices are ritualized, and the earth has become polluted beyond reclamation
(Sova 101). In Gilead, all women have become slaves. Handmaids exist solely to become pregnant by
the Commanders. Pornography is outlawed. Women shun makeup and clothing that shows sexual
assets or sex appeal. In this world, no one can be trusted, yet somehow Offred willingly rebels against
society to attain her freedom and fundamental need for love (Sova

Argumentative Essay On Vandalism
That is unbelievable, Beverly said, amazed.
Still shaking Steve removed a paper from his pocket and passed it around allowing his coworkers to
read the letter, now no one thought it was funny.
Looking at the time clock, Betty said, We better get to work, or we will need Santa to pay our bills.
+++
During the next several days, each evening Doug turned on the local TV, to see how Santa Claus had
granted more wishes for the boys and girls in Rockdale. Soon all the boys and girls were writing
letters to Santa telling him about their wishes, knowing he had granted many wishes and hoping he
would grant their wish.
Although, some of the children were not good all year and didn t get what they wanted, in fact, they
were quite unhappy with their gift from Santa. Their actions ensured that they would not get anything
the next year unless they improved. Getting angry and doing destructive deeds didn t help fifteen year
old Jeremiah and Harold, as they set out to prove Santa wasn t the one granting wishes.
Waking up early, Brian Wilson left for work, only to discover someone had let the air out of the tires
on his vehicle parked in the driveway.
Calling the police, Brian yelled, Someone let the damned air out of my tires, and I want to make a
report on vandalism.
Frustrated with the numerous calls about the same problem around the town, the dispatcher said,

Why Is The Ford Pinto Unethical
The Ford Pinto Xing Liu Jul 9 2015 When putting top priority on the pursuit of interest, people are
inclined to make unethical decisions and take unethical actions, because they treat other people merely
as a means to their goals by dehumanizing other people. They choose to ignore the fact that all human
beings have names, families, soul (they are not property) and independent thinking as we do, deprive
innocent people of freedom and well being that these people deserve as human beings, and attach
price tags to them for cost benefit analysis. In Pinto case, Ford was accused of callous indifference to
human life for not to spend on adding safety improvements to correct the faults they made in the
competition with German and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the infamous cost/benefit analysis, they decided to sacrifice other s well being to maximize
profits. But there were several miscalculations. Ford not only underestimated the death toll and
injuries, but also overestimated the costs of adding safety improvements by including all Ford
vehicles. In fact, the number of deaths the Pinto was responsible for is closer to 500, according to its
critics, rather than 23, at which Ford put. The court cases nationwide have also increased the costs to
Ford. If Ford added the safety shield in the production page, the only loss would be a portion of the
expected profits. It is possible for Ford to dominate the compact car market and customers get what
they want. However, with the cost/benefit analysis, Ford set them into the worst scenario that no one
benefits from the action of not modifying the duel tank: Ford suffered from both financial and
reputational loss, with the increased costs on installing the safety shields and lawsuits against the
company, potential loss of future sales, and the decreased shareholder s value; customers who
involved in the accidents suffered both physically and emotionally with the loss of life and property;
other customers decreased trust in the brand; Iacocca was fired by Henry Ford

Reading Fluency and Its Effect on Reading Comprehension
Reading Fluency and its Effect on Reading Comprehension
Topic Selection As an elementary teacher, I have often thought reading fluency plays a large role in a
child s reading development. Few reading programs give fluency the recognition it deserves. Reading
fluency has been a prominent and reliable benchmark for me, even when students have comprehension
difficulties. Once fluency is assessed, the results were used to place students in their reading ability
group. Often times, the fluent readers were placed in the high ability reading groups. In the past, our
district used a reading program that gave very little focus to reading fluency and few strategies for
improvement. It assessed fluency based on rate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reader s theater brings a new, more exciting approach to repeated practice. Like repeated reading,
reader s theater focuses on all three elements of reading fluency.
Reader s theater requires students to reread, memorize, and perform the text, which are key
components to improving fluency. Adding dramatic performance to a student s reading experience will
positively affect the student s expression, or prosody, a key component to reading fluency (Nathan
Stanovich, 2001). Modeling fluency is essential so students can better understand what reading
fluency sounds like. Proper modeling focuses on accuracy, rate, phrasing, and prosody (Worthly
Broaddus, 2001). Evanchan (2010) suggested proper modeling gives students exposure to vocabulary
above their independent reading level. Modeling allows students to be engaged with text they may
wrestle with independently, and comprehension is also enhanced (Worthly Broaddus, 2001). The
student s engagement and evidence of comprehension suggests students listening comprehension level
is at a higher level than their independent reading levels (Evanchan, 2010).
How does reading fluency affect reading comprehension? There are five essential components to
reading. They are phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Evanchan
(2010), referred to the components as links in a chain, and comprehension is the link that secures the
chain; however, if one of the four

Human genetic engineering is an implementation of gene therapy methods that has helped treat
medical conditions that originate at our genes. Are our future peers more capable of being

Negatives Of Sweatshops
I remember hearing about sweatshops in middle school and just thinking how wrong and useless they
are. After reading the articles I believe that my impression of sweatshops that has stuck with me has
changed. Even though I may find sweatshops to be cruel and useless it is not for others. I agree that
they are dirty and dangerous (Kristof WuDunn, 2000) and most Westerners are opposed to
sweatshops, but for people in less developed countries, such as Asia they like them and want to work
in them. I feel that sweatshops have many bad side effects, such as poor working conditions, pollution,
and child labor, but I can see how they are starting to improve for workers and the rest of us. I still feel
like they can be dangerous regardless, but they are helping so many people stay alive, have jobs, and
make money. I never thought of it from that perspective and really realized just how much these jobs
mean to some people. For example, the 40 year old woman in Cambodia who would do anything to
work in these sweatshops just to earn enough money to buy a $5 net to save her family from getting
malaria from the area they had to move in order to sell wood to have money for food. The disease had
already killed some of her family and will continue to do so if she does not make the money she needs
to afford one of those tents. To be honest I cannot even imagine being put into one of these situations.
It is so scary and mind blowing. Working in a sweatshop would be lifesaving to her and be

Author Sandy Klocinski The main concept of the Atkins diet plan is that ketosis can help you burn off
fats for energy. Lots of people, even those people who are following low carb diet programs, do not
really comprehend ketosis or exactly why it does the job. The majority of diets are generally calorie
reduction diet programs. They help you shed weight. However, a part of the weight loss will be
coming from body fat and then a part of it will be coming from lean body mass. Although you might
have lost weight on the scale, your metabolic function is slowing. The more muscle tissue you
eliminate the more sluggish the metabolic process is going to be. This will make losing weight harder
and also gaining pounds again even easier. The Atkins diet plan, however, is carb restricted. It causes
ketosis within your body that will burn just body fat rather than muscle tissue. A major source of your
energy is going to be body fat as ketones. The liver will turn body fat into ketones but it can never be
changed back again. It is going to be passed out of your body by natural means.

Ongoing assessments and evaluations, tutorials, positive feedback and assessing learning styles will
ensure the learner s needs continue to be met (Petty: 2009 amp; Grimsby Institute: 2012). The
humanistic school of learning is based on meeting learners needs and has demonstrated to be
influential in adult learning (Petty: 2009). The tutor should also ensure that resources are available,
and that a variety of learning methods are utilised to include everyone.
Figure 3: Maslow s hierarchy of needs (Petty: 2009)
Boundaries between the teaching role and other professional roles
Boundaries may arise if a student has a disability that a teacher is not equipped to handle. An example
may occur if a student requires help with visual or audio aids. If the tutor is not a first aider, and an
incident occurs, the student will need to be referred to a first aider. A tutor is responsible for reporting
possible safeguarding issues to a designated person within the organisation. Social problems may
require the learner to seek help from qualified professionals, such as counsellors or financial advisors
(Gravell: 2008).
Review points of referral to meet the learners needs
A tutor may notice a student is struggling with the course material, and may suspect a learning
difficulty or social problem.

  • 2. A Good Man Is Hard To Find Grandmother Character Analysis The grandmother who was not named in the Story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor, had a larger than life personality and she likes to pass judgement on to others. This character lived with her son Bailey, her daughter in law and her two grandchildren in the state of Georgia. The grandmother is the main character in this story, she is smart, ladylike, judgmental, and the whole story revolves around her. My favorite character in the story is the grandmother. She brings out the characteristics of an old southern woman. The first thing that grabbed my attention about this character is when she marked down the mileage on the car. This shows her smartness and attentiveness. It is a unique trait and she thinks ahead of everyone. The grandmother wrote this down because she thought it would be interesting to say how many miles they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was dressed in her best clothes. The author shows the details of her attire vividly. You can see her picture as you read the story, ... had on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. She even added that she wanted to be lady like if she died in a road accident. In case of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady. (O Connor, pg. 309). Her persuasive power is weak at first when she told the family to cancel the trip to Florida and instead go to Tennessee but they declined her request. However she deceives them by telling them about a plantation she visited when she was young and colored it into a beautiful place until the children bought into to her idea. The back road they took led them into the hands of The Misfit and their demise. The grandmother murmured that, It would be very educational for them. (O Connor, 313.). Bailey gave in to the whole persuasiveness and followed the dirt road that led them into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Connection Between Certainty And Doubt The words certainty and doubt have many varying connotations and implications given a specific context. Even though the definitions of these two words are considered polar opposites of each other, there is one connection between the two that is undeniable: both certainty and doubt can be taken with a grain of salt, as they are all merely just opinions specific to the person that those concepts are presented to. Adding on to that, there is also a concept relating to this; the idea that there is always the certainty of doubt and that they are merely two sides of the same coin. That being said, it should be taken into consideration on exactly how certainty and doubt are interpreted together. By textbook definition, certainty is often viewed as the undeniable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea that there are no objective and undeniable opinions, but rather the existence of subjectivity, is the premise on which the concepts of certainty and doubt are based upon. If, say, a set of beliefs act as one s philosophy for way of life, what s not to say that they d reject another s beliefs on the same matter? Or rather, take into consideration the other s beliefs to account for or to adjust their own? Take, for instance, the Red Scare of the early 1950 s. Due to the heightened tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the Cold War (coupled along with the fact that Soviet spies in America had existed back in WWII), the U.S. had increasingly become more conservative in an effort to prevent the ideas of communism taking over the country; examples that had prompted this response were communist influences on the governments of China and North Korea at the time, causing a mass hysteria for communism spreading throughout the world. This is a perfect example of how certainty can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Schooling for All One of the most debated arguments in the area of education has been the fight to make more single sex schools available for students. Co ed schooling has been the standard for education that many children enjoy being in. Many argue however that changing schools to be single sex is one of the best solutions to upgrade the education for children. However, a school that provides single sex education is not automatically a better school than a coeducational one. Thus, when seeing the whole picture, single sex education is the same, if not worse than co education. The enforcement of single sex education has many drawbacks, such as the increase of separation in the relationships between genders. By keeping people of different sexes away from each other, the two groups of people will slowly start to become unknown to each other when interactions between the two genders are supposed to be a natural occurrence. Diane F. Halpern, a professor of psychology at Claremont McKenna College along with a few other professor state that: Furthermore, a recent meta analysis found support for the intergroup contact hypothesis that is, segregation of groups promotes stereotyping and prejudice toward the other group, whereas intergroup contact reduces such stereotyping and prejudice, among children, adolescents, and adults. • 5. The Importance Of Life On Earth Earth is living and breathing planet, it takes a lot of energy to keep the Earth health, to keep all its inhabitants functioning. Earth is a special planet because it is the only know planet that can allow life to thrive. Earth receive a tremendous amount of energy from the Sun, solar energy is necessary for life on Earth. A planet filled with life needs water, it is one of the essential pieces for all humans, animals, and plants. Earth is cover primarily by water, a unique substance that keeps life going. Water is unique in many ways, water is the only liquid found at Earth s surface in large quantities...is readily converted from one state of matter to another (solid, liquid, gas), and water s solid phase, ice, is less dense than liquid water (Lutgens 90, 2016). All these unique attributes of water make life on earth easy for all its inhabitants. On a warm day, a cold drink of water with ice can be refreshing, just like a dip in a cold late, the same can be said for a warm cup of tea in the middle of the winter. Water moves through Earth; the process of waters movement is explained by the hydrologic cycle. The hydrologic cycle is the continuous exchange of water among the oceans, the atmosphere, and the continents. The hydrologic cycle has several essential parts, evaporation, transportation, and precipitation. Evaporation is the action of water moving into the atmosphere where it condenses and forms clouds, moisture is then transported in the atmosphere all over earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those fears were well founded. Malaysia Air has been bleeding losses because of rising competition and soaring fuel prices. The tie up was meant to reduce overlap between the two Malaysia based carriers on some routes, cut expenses and help shore up Malaysia Air s balance sheet. AirAsia s shares have lost about a quarter of their value since the swap was announced last year. There is room to rise. • 7. At Fault Character Review Essay A Woman Ahead of Her Time The Land of the Free, the Home of the Brave ; these are the words that since 1814 have been used to describe the spirit of the country that we call America. For many, this country symbolizes a history of just that; bravery and freedom. But what does it mean to be an American? Does it simply mean that a person is born in to the country, or does it mean that they empower the character traits used to describe the country itself? When describing America and what it is to be or behave as an American, there are many traits that are often used such as brave, hardworking, strong, having the ability to overcome obstacles, a belief in equality and freedom for all, being a groundbreaker, and having a strong, direct ... Therese had not reached the age of thirty five without learning that life presents many insurmountable obstacles which must be accepted, whether with the callousness of philosophy, the revolt of weakness or the dignity of self respect. (Chopin) Although the death of her husband was very hard on her, and at times she found herself wishing that she had died alongside him, she was forced to stand up, be strong, and assume the role that her late husband had played. She did not ask anyone for help, instead she did what was called upon her. She was strong and she refused to break under the extremely large emotional burden and responsibility that had been placed upon her. Having independence and pride in oneself and the things that they believe in are traditionally American traits that Therese also has within herself. Therese possessed an independence of thought exceptional enough when considered in relation to her life and its surrounding conditions. (Chopin) As a woman who had taken on many challenges and responsibilities, she carried herself with pride and did not allow the death of her husband or the burden that had come of it distract her from who she was and what she had to do. • 8. A Short Note On The Uses And Functions Of A Server On... BIND in Linux BIND (Berkeley Internet name domain) is the most commonly used DNS (domain name system) server on the Internet, and it is the defacto standard on Linux and other Unix like operating systems. DNS is the name resolution (i.e., translation) system that permits users to locate computers on a network by using their domain name rather than their IP addresses. IP addresses, which form the basis of addressing on the Internet and most other networks, each can contain as many as 12 digits under the currently mainstream IPv4 addressing scheme (or as many as 32 hexadecimal digits under the next generation IPv6 addressing scheme). It can be difficult for humans to remember such addresses, but it is relatively easy for them to remember domain names, which typically use alphabetic characters and consist of words, abbreviations or acronyms. BIND provides an openly redistributable reference implementation of the major components of the DNS, including a DNS server (called named), a DNS resolver library and tools for verifying the proper operation of the DNS server. The resolver library is a collection of functions written in the C programming language that provides hostname to IP address and IP address to hostname lookup services.BIND was originally written at University of California at Berkeley (UCB) as a graduate student project under a grant from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA). • 9. Inhorn s Analysis Inhorn talks of the emerging areas of dissonance and dissent to the prevailing religious discourse (2012a: 165), indicating that men more readily challenge the religious laws that are in place. The setting that most embodies this observation is the semen collection clinic, where men must provide a sample of their semen for analysis. Here, men encounter a number of obstacles that are so contrary to their religious beliefs, but they must confront them to achieve their desire for children. The first is that of masturbation, which, as discussed in the previous chapter, denotes something considered zina or illegal sexual activity by many men and many religious leaders. Furthermore, semen itself is seen as something polluting once it leaves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are disparities between religious leaders in the region such as Ayatollah Khamene i who permits sperm donation as an option to cure ones infertility. Morgan Clarke talks about how Islam seeks to keep(ing) up with the times and this is especially apparent in Lebanon where there is a high number of azoospermia cases men who have no viable semen whatsoever (Clarke, 2009; Inhorn 2012a). As a result, in Lebanon, there is much greater leniency towards sperm donation amongst religious leaders and medical practitioners because it is the only option left for these men. The belief however is that a child should be created within a legal marital structure and any outside or third party interference in the form of another man s semen would disrupt this. Lineal masculinity , outlines the difference between the roles of men and women in reproduction (King and Stone, 2010). Men need to reproduce to preserve their lineage, and contribute to the lineage of their family that has accumulated over generations. For men, lineage is collective, and any break in the passage of lineage from one generation to the next, would result in the abolition of all that came before. These serious notions underline why this type of NRT is so difficult to comprehend for these men. A man who categorically ruled out sperm donation as a solution in Inhorn s study stated, ... • 11. Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To Darkness Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it must, if we are to call it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that darkness must be considered in relation to light; that a thing cannot be without its opposite, since any one member of an antithesis cannot exist without a counter member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot be compared to a black one without the black one being present; A cannot be compared to B unless B is present; by extension, an antithesis works by expressing two extremities of any one quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we were to evaluate colour, white suggests the prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice versa. But, to what degree is blackness said to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities? Is one merely the absence of the other? Is so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one existent thing to a non existent thing. Suppose we are to compare lightness to darkness: if light is said to exist, as an emission which illuminates darkness, then light can only be considered as something which illuminates darkness, and thus can only be considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to call darkness that thing which covers light, it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which supposes that both exist; but, if we suppose that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence of light but must rather be covering of it. Within his 29 years of Kingship, he had managed to create a legacy that lasts to this day through his military campaigns against several empires, conquering the lands from present day Turkey to India, and ruling with religious tolerance. While his daughter was pregnant, Astyages dreamt of the baby overthrowing him and destroying his success when it grew older. Astyages then ordered his grandson to be killed, but that order was not carried out as his chief advisor gave the baby to a Shepard. 10 years later, Astyages was unexpectedly reunited with his grandson when he went to discover what he believed to be a random child with superhuman qualities. Astyages was convinced by his chief advisor to let Cyrus live. Another birth story is written by Ctesias (another Greek historian), who claimed that Cyrus was not royal. Instead, he was born into a nomad tribe from Mard. His mother (Argste) dreamt of her unborn son becoming a great king. Cyrus was born and grew up as a servant of Astyages, and Astyages sent Cyrus to supress a revolt; however he did not obey the orders and he participated in the revolt against Astyages, which resulted in him losing his throne and Cyrus gaining it. What are their main differences? Is the flavor from one different from the flavor from the other? We will consider these questions and more as we look at smoking vs. grilling. What is the difference between smoking and grilling? Smoking is an ancient method of preserving meats using smoke, indirect heat and low cooking temperatures. The original reason for using this method had more to do with preserving the meat than with flavor. These days, it is used mostly for the flavor and for making meat tender by breaking down the connective tissue in it. Properly smoked meats acquire a smoke ring. Auden defines a Christian tragic hero according to the Judeo Christian view that all people are moral agents and own responsibility for their actions. One of his examples is Macbeth, who listens to the witches and is tempted to commit a crime that he knows is wrong. Auden says that the audience s response to Macbeth s fall is, What a pity it was this way when it might have been otherwise. This contrasts with the pagan tragic hero, like Oedipus, who is bound by fate. Because Oedipus can do nothing about his ancestry, the audience s response is, What a pity it had to happen this way. 1 Just as Macbeth s tragedy begins when he ... Not everyone agrees with the current policies concerning entrepreneurship and its effect on innovation, job creation and economic growth. Shane is one of those people who clearly disagrees with current incentives given by the government (Shane, 2009). According to him, policy makers should no longer motivate typical start ups by providing incentives to start a business like loans, subsidies and tax benefits. Instead, policy makers should focus on the extraordinary entrepreneurs and help them by subsidizing R D projects at small companies. By definition, serial killers are men or women who have taken the lives of at least three victims over an extended period of time. However, those words do not even come close to properly expressing the complexity of a psychopathic, homicidal mind. Most killers murder merely for pleasure, rather than for profit. Those who grow up in such an environment often become desensitized to these things and lose compassion for victims of even the most gruesome crimes. This inevitably does not mix at all well with inclinations to kill. Usually, the victims of serial murder are strangers chosen based on the difficulty of manipulating the person and vulnerability. Boxers all scored lower in intelligence tests compared to other athletes (Cohen, 1984). The main question being extrapolated from this evidence, is how can society continue to allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept is commonly introduced to sport because many times boxers do not have the mental capacity, age, or competence to consent to boxing, therefore many believe that a paternalistic figure needs to assist with decision making. One would believe, in this case that the law should interfere for the good of the persons involved, in a way that it acts to ensure that there are health warnings on cigarette packages (Davis, 1993, p.49). To further discuss this notion, discourses surrounding paternalism need to be examined in consideration to boxing. Paternalism is defined as the interference of liberty for what is believed to be for the own good of the individual. This interventionism looks out for the safety of both boxers and the community and therefore looks out for the better good of the community as a communitivistic approach. An athletes community, meaning the people who surround the sport of boxing, can takeover in cases where it feels like everyone is being harmed in some sense of the word. The reason why communities believe that boxing is worse off than other violent sports is because of its inherently violent nature. Sports such as football, and hockey do not base their fundamental sporting rules around violence. As boxing is a largely viewed sport, this inherent violence can be familiarized with the audience as an act that is okay and acceptable, illustrating that children and adults will walk out of the match thinking that violence is morally justified. As boxing is so adamantly available to the public, on television and in the ring; it can prescribe an attitude of unsafe behavior and growing norms surrounding the acceptance of violence in general, not pertaining to sport. This point proves that individuals are very intertwined with community and traditional ways that free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Edible Woman and The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood explores the world in which men are the center, and women are merely extras in society. In both novels, the female protagonist has her practical needs met, but her more fundamental need for freedom and love is not met, at least not initially. It takes a willingness to rebel against society a culture controlled by men to secure those more basic needs. Lots of people, even those people who are following low carb diet programs, do not really comprehend ketosis or exactly why it does the job. The majority of diets are generally calorie reduction diet programs. They help you shed weight. However, a part of the weight loss will be coming from body fat and then a part of it will be coming from lean body mass. Although you might have lost weight on the scale, your metabolic function is slowing. The more muscle tissue you eliminate the more sluggish the metabolic process is going to be. This will make losing weight harder and also gaining pounds again even easier. The Atkins diet plan, however, is carb restricted. It causes ketosis within your body that will burn just body fat rather than muscle tissue. A major source of your energy is going to be body fat as ketones. The liver will turn body fat into ketones but it can never be changed back again. It is going to be passed out of your body by natural means. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
