The Benefits Of Imaginary Friends
Mom, can you give Helicoptrin some more spaghetti? She s really hungry after flying all the way here.
Everyone knows that imaginary friends are some children s playmates that aren t real and cannot be
seen, but what does that exactly mean, and why do some children have them and some do not?
According to Marjorie Taylor, a developmental psychologist, an imaginary companion is a friend
whom a child has created, talks about or interacts with on a regular basis. Most children s imaginary
friend experiences are positive. The imaginary friends are kind and nice, and the children like them.
This wasn t always the case. In the past, it was believed that imaginary companions were harmful or
evil, and were a sign of a social deficit, demonic possession, or mental illness. (Young, 2016) Another
theory from the past was that imaginary friends were of a spiritual nature. Some even believed them to
be guardian angels that were there to give support or comfort to adults but got passed down to
children. (Kara, 2017) Over many years and through many theories, people have been intrigued about
why some young people develop imaginary friends, how common of an occurrence it is and what
might be some factors that come into play with children who develop imaginary companions. I will go
into an in depth explanation in the paragraphs to follow.
The first question that many people want to know, especially when a child in their own life develops
one, is how common are imaginary friends?

Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac
1. During the great depression in 1934 many people didn t have jobs. Not having jobs meant that it
would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The
government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration
(FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the
promise that the banks would get their money back. The FHA finances itself with insurance premiums
that they charge borrowers as well as interest that they receive on reserves. They use these funds to
underwrite more loans which helps out people with their mortgages.
Two other government sponsored enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They were built by
congress to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, the government should take a step back and not be involved in the USA housing
market any longer. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in the
White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that s supposed to
have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well. Trump has said that he
wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe even 15% which is great
news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reason that
this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under conservatorship and cutting the
corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again need a bailout. Being under
conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make a profit, they have to
pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time they aren t allowed to rebuild capital
but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes which means that in 2018 they will have not
one penny remaining in their capital reserves. Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean that Fannie
Mac and Freddie Mac will have significant deferred tax asset write downs...which, in turn, could lead
to the GSE s need an additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax related losses (Housingwire). To
reiterate my point once again, I believe that the government shouldn t continue its involvement in the

Multiple Myeloma Essay
What if patients that suffer from Multiple Myeloma could finally have a treatment opinion with the
aid of the immunology hormone, Thymosin ß 4? This hematologic (blood) disease has no cure at this
specific time, but there are some factors that increase the susceptibility of contracting this disease. The
factors include being over the age of 65, hereditary disposition and race also, people that already
suffer a blood disease will probably contract MM. Why is trying to treat MM so important? Multiple
Myeloma is stated as a cancer that is formed in a specific type of white blood cell (plasma cells). The
main role of plasma cells is to secrete antibody that recognizes and attacks germs. These malignant
plasma cells result in an increase of immunoglobulin components, most commonly IgG. This up
regulation of IgG can ultimately cause kidney problems. To fully understand how this hormone may
help patients that suffer from this disease first, I want to look at how the immune system interacts with
hormones. Then, discuss what Thymosin ß 4 is and the effects on the inhibition of MM.
Hormones are important chemical messengers that drive the immune system during the pubescence
period of live. Hormones play vital roles in the body for example; growth, development, reproduction,

I really enjoyed how the author uses Romanian mythology to create this complex world in the series.
The book moved at a fast pace and kept me interested until the very end. The only part of the book
that I wished the author made would be to add more action because a lot people who read this book
think it s just about vampires in high school, but the second book features so much action. Overall I
would recommend reading this book because it is the first book that introduces the characters and
story plot in the six book series. I will read the next six books in the series because I really enjoy the
storyline. I hope the action will pick up in the next books and I am excited to learn more about
characters throughout the series. I think the book will be easy to relate to teenagers around the age of
the main characters who are facing danger at every turn, but still are

Literary Analysis Of The Jungle Book
The modern world is truly aghast at the presence of millennials and worldwide political panic.
Through the fire, one seeks to find a key to navigating the riverways of life and altogether, Rudyard
Kipling s allegorical compilation of Mowgli and the Jungle s actions in The Jungle Book provides
amply. As seen, Rudyard Kipling delivered an accurate parallel to the modern world from more than
one hundred years ago and accompanies this interpretation with the placement of indomitable
protagonists and heinous antagonists. This literary analysis aims to unfold the allegorical
representations of society in the The Jungle Book , along with analyzing the characters, literary
devices, and the significance of the protagonist s ability to effectively adapt to their surroundings and
thrive.
To truly understand the importance of Kipling s protagonists to adapt to their environment, the reader
must first identify the setting in which the characters are being portrayed. The Jungle Book takes place
in the untamed jungles of India near Seoni; this is concluded due to the following quote, it was seven
o clock of a very warm evening in the Seeonee Hills when Father Wolf awoke from... . To further
understand the significance of the jungle, it is wise to understand the context of the times in which
Rudyard Kipling was living. Firstly, the country of India at those times was under the control of the
British empire. Also, there were multiple indigenous villages which co existed with other

Solution To Air Pollution
Air pollution is a serious problem in the world, but there is a way to deal with it. In other words, the
situation is not hopeless. In the articles, Lose 300 Million Tons of CO2 in Just Three Weeks! and
Miles to Go: Why Automakers Don t sell a Car that Gets 50 MPG, and the video of Tshering Togbay:
This country isn t just carbon neutral. These have a common problem of the air pollution; also, these
have similar solutions that people will reduce their using resources or protect with other ways, such as
using the nature to refresh the air or the eco resources. In the reading of Lose 300 Million Tons of
CO2 in Just Three Weeks! It is indeed a looking solution that is upstream looking, but I see how this
consumption can be reduced, as the average consumer of carbon consumption cuts the caloric intake
of food intake. Shepard s solution will implement a carbon disclosure strategy so that it can destroy
the earth and actually see what contributes to the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases that affect
our health. It is that. In Another reading of Miles to Go: Why Automakers Don t sell a Car that Gets 50
MPG, Automakers deliberately do not develop cars that get more than 50 mpg because of the
incestuous relationship between the oil industry and the auto manufacturing industry both of which
profit from more oil consumption, which means less gas miles. Also, The video of the Tshering
Tobgay: This country isn t just carbon neutral shows that in the depths of Himalaya on the border
between China and India, there is the Kingdom of Bhutan. The Kingdom of Bhutan promises to stay
neutral at all times. With this bright story, Prime Minister Bhutan Tshering Tobgay shared the mission
of bringing happiness before economic growth and set the global standard for environmental
conservation. There are similarities; the first thing is the articles and the video talk about how the air
pollution is occurring. To develop our life, people need to destroy our environment. Second, people try
to solve the air pollution with other ways. For example, people will use other resources, or people try
to impede their development. These articles and video have different topics too. First, they chose to do
the developing with

The Nfl Is Exempt From Paying Taxes
As of 2014, the NFL operates as a non profit organization the NFL is exempt from paying taxes.
However, even though the Carolina Panthers is under the NFL, it is operating as a for profit business
(Patrick Doyle 2014). Therefore, like all for profit businesses, the Panthers should ideally generate a
profitable income to continue operating. As a result, the Panthers financial health or future earnings is
a quantitative criteria we included in our recommendation.
In 2013, the Panthers not only generated $283 million in revenue but also incurred over $150 million
in costs (Statista 2014). Due to the Panthers amazing playoffs in the previous years, Forbes Valuation

According to the table, sponsorships, merchandise, and ticket sales account for 60 percent of the
Panthers earnings. In our analysis, we conservatively assumed that Greg Hardy s domestic violence
incident will directly reduce the above mentioned revenue sources.
Greg Hardy s Effect on Panthers Sponsorships
Ever since Greg Hardy s recent domestic violence incident, most of the Panthers major corporate
sponsors (Bank of America, PepsiCo, MillerCoors, Carolinas Medical Center, Anheuser Busch InBev,
and U.S. Airways) issued their statements of disapproval and urged the team to address this issue
appropriately.
Although Erik Spanberg and Adam O Daniel (2014) stated that none of the Panthers financial
sponsors will likely pull away from their donations, these major corporate sponsors don t want to
further tarnish their reputation with the NFL s bad publicity. Nonetheless, if a NFL s future decision
regarding domestic violence, a widely debated topic in the NFL, generates more negative publicity,
these major corporations are willing to stop sponsoring their teams. For example, due to the Adrian
Peterson s famous domestic violence and child abuse case, major sponsor Nike issued the following
statement:
Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns
with the NFL. We have suspended our contract with Adrian Peterson (Molly Geary 2014).

Debt To Credit Ratio Essay
The debt to credit ratio is the calculation of how much you are using the credit that is available to you.
It is an indication of how heavily your finances lean on credit. This ratio accounts for 30% of your
credit score. It is next to your payment history, which is 35%. An understanding of this ratio can help
you improve your FICO score.
Your debt to credit ratio is calculated as follows:
Debt used divided by available credit multiplied by hundred = Debt to credit ratio
For example a debt of $2,000 on a credit card of $4,000 limit = 50%
$3,000 on the same card account gives a ratio of 75%.
Your overall debt to credit ratio is calculated by dividing the total of amount debt by the total of your
credit limits. It is also done for each separate

Essay about Effect Prohibition Had On Society
Communism is like prohibition, it is a good idea, but it won t work. (Will Rogers) Nothing in today s
society would be the way it is without history. There have been many triumphs and tragedies, losses
and gains throughout America s history. As for Prohibition, it is unsure as to what its purpose was.
Prohibition was a law passed to make the sale of alcoholic beverages banned. However, through many
years of determination to stay alive, the Prohibition Act s fate was failure. Our leaders drove down a
daring yet determined path, and after countless excruciating years of struggle, their final destination
was failure. Prohibition was a choice our government made for the better sake of our country. The dry

The Roaring Twenties was a good era for many people, although it did have it s rough and difficult
times. There were multiple reasons for this epic move. America s drinking habits were progressively
getting worse, in the 1920 s especially. Factories started growing and people were forced to work
harder and longer grueling hours just to support their families. Many people became depressed and
started to drink more vigorously. Binge drinking had also become a new major trend. Due to the
exhaustion of all the work people had been doing lately, many had become upset and depressed. This
then led to drinking a lot more, and illegally, with the new laws being enforced. The number of
alcohol related deaths and crimes were progressively growing. The anticipated conclusion of this act
was to reduce drinking done by the workers in factories and all jobs. The factory owners wanted to
increase the production rate. Faster production was intercepted by drunk employees. (1920 s
Prohibition: Moonshine, Bootleggers, and Speakeasies). This major event divided the country in two;
You were either a Wet or a Dry . The Wets were the citizens who were against the Eighteenth
Amendment. This group was all for selling and drinking alcohol, they enjoyed it. The Drys on the
other hand, were for this law. The Drys agreed that heavy drinking should be banned. In 1919, the
Wets consisted of about fifty three percent of the states in the

Summary On The Court Decision Decides A Software Patent...
Summary
This Supreme Court decision decides a software patent complaint between Alice Corporation Pty. Ltd.
(Alice) and CLS Bank International et al (CLS Bank). The question in this case asks whether a patent
claiming the use of a fundamental economic principle is eligible for patent because it applies the use
of
a computer.
Procedural History
The petitioner of the case, CLS Bank, has several patents (Nos. 5,970,479, 6,912,510, 7,149,720,
7,725,375) pertaining to the exchange of financial obligations between two parties by using a
computer system as a third party intermediary i.e. escrow. (Alice Corp v. CLS Bank, 13 298 S. Ct. 2
(2013)) The respondent in this case, CLS Bank, is a cash settlement service dealing in the foreign
exchange market. CLS Bank has filed suit against Alice in District Court, claiming the patents are
invalid, unenforceable, or not infringed. After the Supreme Court decided on Bilski v. Kappos, No. 08
964 (2010) both parties filed cross motions in District Court seeking summary judgment as to whether
the asserted claims are eligible for patent. The District Court held that the claims are patent ineligible
because they are directed to an abstract idea. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
reversed the decision with a divided panel. Their assertion stated that there was no obvious use of an
abstract concept. The Federal Circuit then agreed to hear the claim en banc and vacated the panel s

Similarities Between Equality And Inequality
The social issue of equality and inequality, has dated back to the beginning of time. Although there is
no way to find out, would one really think that cavemen would not fight about who got the most food?
Even children would argue if someone else has more crayons, or more toys. Everyone has demanded
equality at least once in their lifetime. Unfortunately inequality occurs more often than equality, and
this will never change. Race, sex, and religion are the three main points that occur most often in today
s society. If someone were to turn on the news, they would more than likely see global issues on race,
sex, religion, and their fight for equality. I will be discussing the similarities and differences of
equality and inequality through race, sex, and religion.
When someone thinks about the similarities of equality and inequality in a social setting, they might
think that there are none. In fact, there are many similarities, and the main one is humans. Humans
either have equality, or they do not have it, and want it. Usually people have more courage in a group,
rather than alone. This is also a similarity with equality and inequality. It is often groups that rightfully
raise the issue of an inequality between themselves and the rest of society (Gosepath). The rest of
society that Gosepath is referring to, is people who have equality, which connects equality and
inequality. The first similarity of equality and inequality is race. Both sides deal with all kinds of

Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma
In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the important
issues. She uses Emma s management of Harriet to do this. She creates contrast between Emma and
Harriet, she portrays Emma as beautiful and intelligent though we can still see faults in her
personality. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. This also raises
issues, including the position of women and Emma s social status, marriage and comedy which is
shown through irony, especially in the relationship between Emma and Harriet.
The first thing we read is Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever and rich . By ... Show more content on

This shows that Austen had views ahead of her time. When Emma hears of Mr Martin s proposal, she
believes that Harriet s status is higher than his, and should refuse the offer when, in fact, this is not
true at all. In this sense, Emma is very naïve and shows how she misjudges situations. Mr Martin is of
a higher social class than Harriet and also has more money. Here Emma is misusing her patronage.
A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr Martin s
proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma does not realise
this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma s father is satirised
by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He, therefore, does not see
Emma s matchmaking and management of people. He is one of the main people of whom Emma
manages. Through this we see that Austen characterises Emma to abuse her own patronage.
The position of women was an issue in Austen s time and is highlighted in this novel. At this time,
women had very much a lower position in society than men but, because of Emma s inheritance and
family history, she is an exception to the rule. With the power this gives her, we see yet another
contrast between Harriet and Emma. Emma s intelligence and Harriet s lack of it is another contrast.

Term Structure of Interest Rate
WITH REFERENCE TO THE UK EXPLAIN THE CONCEPT OF THE TERM STRUCTURE OF
INTEREST? WHAT INFLUENCE DOES THE BANK OF ENGLAND HAVE OVER THE TERM
STRUCTURE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MONETARY POLICY
To understand the term structure of interest rate we need to elaborate how interest rates function and
how they are determined. Interest rates are a vital tool to all the macro economic policy objectives of a
government such as control of inflation, investment as well as employment. Interest rates refer to the
price paid by deficit agents for borrowing funds from the surplus agents. A line that plots interest rate
at a set point in time is the term structure or yield curve.
Interest rates which may be short term or long term are linked to a ... Show more content on

This particular curve is unusual as it is inverted. The market is anticipating a fall in rates and hence the
shape of the yield curves. The sensitivity of such a curve can be explained taking into account that the
change in the rates reflected is small, 0.24% over the duration of the security, 30 years. This is quite
relevant when speculating on future economic conditions. (www.bankofengland.co.uk)
There are three main theories which relate to yield curves. The pure expectations theory implies that
forward rates are unbiased estimators of future interest rates. This theory states that the term structure
of interest rates reflects the views of the market about the path of future short term interest rates. Thus
when explaining a positive yield curve, the market will be expecting short term interest rates to rise in
the future. The opposite applies when the curve is negative and when flat the markets expect short
term interest rates to remain approximately the same. This theory generally over estimate interest rates
and does not assume that investors are risk averse and want a higher return when investing.
The liquidity preference theory states that bond holders are risk averse and wish to be compensated for
holding the long term security by a liquidity premium. The normal yield curve to explain this should
be up sloping indicating preference for liquidity by investors and lower risk of shorter term

Why Housing Price Is So High
Why housing price is so high in China, especially in core cities? And why the government didn t do
anything to reduce the price? Because government is the one of the cause of high housing price. In
China government own the land, government sell the land to real estate developers at a very high price
at the beginning, and then heavily tax real estate industry s income which from selling the house they
built on that land. Real estate industry wants to make profit; therefore, they increase housing price in
order to make a better profit from consumer. Additionally, since real estate is a big part of China s
economy and a large portion of government s tax revenue is coming from the real estate industry;
therefore, government does not want housing price to drop. Government does publish some policy to
adjust hosing price when it increased too rapidly, and the purpose of government s adjustment is not to
decrease the housing price, but to slow the speed of increasing.
Although the housing price is incredibly high in China today, the demands for housing are kept
increasing, which is another reason lead to high housing price. The average Chinese city dweller takes
their first mortgage at the age of 27, far earlier than in other countries. Why do young urban Chinese
are buying first home so early? First, concerns over future increases in house prices were driving them
to buy their first homes too soon (Boehler, 2013). Second, the traditional pressure on young urban
Chinese to own

My Studio Project And The Oslo Opera House
he idea of being able to walk on top of the building is something that does not happen a lot.
Connecting the public to the building should be more than just creating a fascinating and interesting
facade. My idea is to describe how a building is able to connect to people, by allowing them to not just
walk inside or around but on top of the building creating a public space. The reason why I chose this
topic is that I wanted to make a connection to my studio project, and how I developed the idea for it.
In addition, I wanted to compare it to the Oslo Opera House and how this assisted me in arriving at my
final design. My studio project and the Oslo Opera House have a different scale however, I think they
share some similar concepts. The idea of togetherness, open space, and easy movement access to the
public, and most significantly its connection to the landscape.
Firstly, the location of the buildings is disparate, the Oslo Opera House does not really have a
connection to the landscape, since it is mostly part of the city surrounded by other buildings and where
traffic is heavy. There might be some connection between the Oslo Opera House and the landscape of
the river, which has influenced the design known as The Wave Wll . My project studio (picture 2) has
a huge connection to the landscape, which allowed me to work around the landscape instead of being
surrounded by buildings. The location of my building is in Beacon, NY, around Main St. behind some

Cultural Relativism Is Not Ideal
Cultural Relativism is not Ideal
In The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, James Rachel s main argument is that cultural relativism is
not creditable, but the whole theory of what cultural relativists believe, isn t completely incorrect.
Cultural relativism is the theory that beliefs, activities, and most values are based on the person s
culture. In other words, right and wrong is different in each culture. I agree with James Rachel on his
view of cultural relativism because he has very good reasons for objecting the argument that cultural
relativists make. This paper will argue that James Rachel s opinion on cultural relativism is correct
and the assumptions that cultural relativist believe are incorrect.
Cultural Relativists believe in the cultural differences argument. This argument says:
1.Different cultures have different moral codes.
2.Therefore, there is no objective truth in morality. Right and wrong are only matters of opinion and
opinions vary from culture to culture (Rachel 21).
Rachel s considers the cultural differences argument for cultural relativism to be unsound. I agree with
her because it just is not logical for something to not have anything that is objectively true just
because people disagree on it. An example that stands out to me regards murder. If Society A agreed
on murder and society B disagreed on murder than the conclusion is not that there is no objective truth
on the matter. Murder is obviously wrong because if in a particular society

Lincoln s Battle With God
Lincoln s Battle with God by Stephen Mansfield depicts Abraham Lincoln s lifelong relationship with
religion. The book does an outstanding job of giving a generous background of Lincoln s religious
journey. Personally, I chose the book because of the title. Seeing the name Lincoln s Battle with God
just made me want to learn more about Lincoln s religious struggles throughout his life. Mansfield
begins the book by talking about Lincoln s childhood and relationships with his mother and father, and
how they impacted his life. I was interested by the influence Lincoln s parents had on him and how
their relationships affected Lincoln s faith in the future. Lincoln even goes on to say that All that I am
or hope ever to be I get from my mother. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book covers an interesting subject matter that many people are not aware of. Stephen Mansfield
does very well in evaluating the different elements of Lincoln s faith, as well as his personal thoughts
not discussed. A passage that I found interesting was Without belief in an afterlife, a resurrection,
death became oppressive, a horrid obliteration looming at the end of his days (46). I loved how
Mansfield talking about topics not commonly discussed, like death. However, despite Mansfield
offering tons of information to the readers, his work began to become very repetitive. While repetition
is a tool for some writers in emphasizing some elements in their work, I feel Mansfield could have
done without some repetition. To me, some important points were passed over by ideas that were
constantly being repeated. Because of this I felt I was looking passed other points that Mansfield was
trying to make, simply because of the continuous repetition. If I were to recommend anything to
Mansfield it would be to emphasize more on topics and ideas no one knows about rather than
repeating the same

Essay on Overview of the Chinese Zodiac
Have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant that handed you a paper with a bunch of random animals
and years on it? Most people will just throw it away and not pay that much attention to it. That little
piece of paper contains a basic information about the Chinese Zodiac just enough to get you hooked.
There are many people all over the world that very much believe in the ancient Chinese Zodiac. The
Chinese Zodiac can be helpful for finding the current Chinese year, what animal people are, and can
help make decisions. The Chinese use the lunar calendar. Although China has adopted the Gregorian
calendar in common with most other countries in the world for official and business purposes, the
traditional Chinese calendar continues to define ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each year has an animal sign and the New Year day [is known as the] division of two animals (
Chinese Zodiac ). Each Year has different names. The names are animal names. The names are rat, ox,
tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig ( Chinese Zodiac Sign ). The
animal year can be related to the ten heavenly stems and twelve earthy branches. The ten heavenly
stems and twelve earthly branches are like any other calendar. It is used to count hours, the time of
years, and months. When counting years, people use them with the 12 Chinese Zodiac [signs] . . .
(Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches). The Yellow Emperor also known as Huangdi summand Da
Rao Shi to make a calendar. Da Rao Shi created the calendar system. He studied the four seasons and
the differences between earth and sky. The year that people are born in will affect what type of animal
they will be. The year affects what type of animal they will be because the animal changes every year.
For example the Dragon started at February 5, 2000 to January 23, 2001. Then the Snake was January
24, 2001 to February 11, 2002 and so on until the twelve year cycle ends and another twelve year
cycle begins. Even the time and day will affect the animal they could be. It is important to remember
when determining the hour in which you were born, that hours are not based on local time, but in
relation to the sun s location according

The Asperger Syndrome (RTT)
About Asperger Syndrome
The disorder is named after Hans Asperger, a Viennese pediatrician who, in 1944, first described a set
of behavior patterns apparent in some of his patients, mostly males. Asperger noticed that although
these boys had normal intelligence and language development, they had severely impaired social
skills, were unable to communicate effectively with others, and had poor coordination.
According to the Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the United States, the onset of AS may be later than
what is typical in autism or at least it is recognized later. Many kids are diagnosed after age 3, with
most diagnosed between the ages of 5 and 9.
AS is characterized by poor social interactions, obsessions, odd speech patterns, and other ... Show

Onset occurs between 6 and 18 months of age.[9] During this time there are subtle developmental
deviations and early indicators of Rett syndrome. A period of developmental stagnation is followed by
developmental regression where language and motor milestones regress, purposeful hand use is lost,
and acquired deceleration in the rate of head growth (resulting in microcephaly in some) is seen. Hand
stereotypes are typical, and breathing irregularities such as hyperventilation, breathholding, or sighing
are seen in many. Early on, autistic like behavior may be seen. The infant with Rett syndrome often
avoids detection until 6 18 months, owing to a relatively normal appearance and some developmental
progress. However, closer scrutiny reveals disturbance of the normal spontaneous limb and body
movements that are thought to be regulated in the brainstem. The brief period of developmental
progress is followed by stagnation and regression of previously acquired skills. During regression,
some features are similar to those of autism. It is, hence, easy to mistakenly diagnose Rett syndrome

Introduction. As Various Operational Concepts Are Discovered
Introduction As various operational concepts are discovered in their application to organizations, the
discovery also lends credence that these concepts can work in accordance with each other,
simultaneously, or in synthesis with processes or procedures at a multitude of stages. While many of
these concepts are borne out of the manufacturing sector, the concepts in this research are applied to
the service sector, or more specifically, a healthcare organization. Most of the function and form of a
healthcare organization is service based, but a medical center gravitates at times to a production
organization in a broader sense. An illness, injury, or debilitation, can be improved, corrected, or made

Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom s Cabin in 1851 specifically to illustrate and highlight the
evils and inhumanity of slavery to American readers. Slavery, at the time, was a heated political issue
for which few women were allowed to voice an opinion. Her strong views and christian influences
were revealed in the novel, Uncle Tom s Cabin, as she depicted the immoralities of slavery, the
suffering of slaves, and the destruction of the family unit. Stowe, through her writing, wanted to open
the eyes of southerners and gain their support for the abolishment of slavery in the South.
Many Americans objected to slavery and brought about efforts to put an end to it. In 1817 the
American Colonization Society was founded for the purpose of raising money to buy slaves from the
South and send them back to Africa. In 1833 William Lloyd Garrison and Arthur Tappan formed the
American Anti Slavery Society. (Carlson 1) Lyman Beecher, Harriet Beecher Stowe s father, was the
head teacher at Lane Seminary and supported colonization as a means to end slavery. Upon sharing his
thoughts opposing slavery with his students, they all dropped out and went to Oberlin College in a
show of disagreement of his views. (Carlson2) Stowe s father was also a pastor and played a role in
influencing her life. His influence and strong views brought about her strong faith in christianity and
the development at a young age of an interest in theology and schemes for improving humanity.

Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur and Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Professor s comment: This student uses a feminist approach to shift our value judgment of two works
in a surprisingly thought provoking way. After showing how female seduction in Malory s story of
King Arthur is crucial to the story as a whole, the student follows with an equally serious analysis of
Monty Python s parody of the female seduction motif in what may be the most memorable and
hilarious episode of the film.
Much of the humor in Monty Python and the Holy Grail derives from the pure absurdity of its
characters and situations. King Arthur roams the British countryside on an imaginary horse, evil
enemies can only be appeased with offerings of shrubbery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, when Sir Mellyagaunce kidnaps the queen, Lancelot undergoes much physical hardship
to rescue her, including confronting archers, crossing rough terrain, and escaping imprisonment.
Another time, when Sir Mador de la Porte accuses Queen Guinevere of treason, Lancelot enters into
trial by combat in the queen s defense. Mador gravely injures him in the battle: Sir Mador...smote
[Lancelot] through the thick of the thighs, that the blood brast out fiercely. And...[Lancelot] felt
himself so wounded and saw his blood. (124 125) In addition to such physical pain, the queen often
causes Lancelot great emotional distress. Once, for instance, Guinevere devastates Lancelot when she
wrongly accuses him of being unfaithful to her and angrily banishes him from her court: Right so Sir
Lancelot departed [Camelot] with great heaviness that unneth him might sustain himself for great dole

Not only does Lancelot s affair with Guinevere cause him a great deal of suffering, it wreaks havoc on
the lives of many other men as well. For instance, their affair brings tragedy to Sir Gawain and his
family. Lancelot kills Gawain s innocent brothers, Sir Gaheris and Sir Gareth, while rescuing the
queen from being executed for adultery. Sir Gawain consequently instigates a blood feud against
Lancelot that will eventually lead to his own death. King Arthur and his

Hymenaeus And The Graces Analysis
Long ago the city of Athens was amid war, fighting off attacks from savage warriors. Then came a
man, Tereus, King of Thrace to the rescue. He came to the aide of Athens and ended the grief, as a
result Pandion, the king of Athens, gifted him wealth and a marriage to his daughter Procne. This
sacred marriage was doomed from the beginning due to the lack of Juno, Hymenaeus, and the Graces
presence. Instead it was the three Furies who completed these rights. All was well the first five years
of marriage; they lived happily, had a beautiful son named Itys, and continued to celebrate and rejoice
their wonderful lives. Then one day, Procne speaks to her husband of her desire to see her sister
Philomela, and begs to have her brought to Thrace.

Early Religious Hypocrisy
Thesis: Religion, for some a way of life, for others like myself a topic of debate. This inner debate or
conflict of religion sparks from research on early religion, the hypocrisy of religious leaders, and
religious motives (both historical and modern) but more specifically the justification behind this
motive.
Research into early religion specifically 13th century nordic or northern European religion led to
debate into what a god or divine movement is. This statement may seem to be incorrerent but let me
elaborate. Norse Ragnarok (apocalypse) mentions events like mountains erupting in fire an letting, the
earth shaking from the god s below, monstrous waves and winds, and god s that represent humanly
concepts such as Odin to wisdom and Tyr to war or havoc. All events or people previously mentioned
are considered divine in itself or put into action only by divine forces. Due to this fact I inferred that
early religious god s and divine events are based off things that the ... Show more content on

The various roles of a manager in a company will be decided by their style of management and the
way they handle various situations in an organization. The two of the main styles are autocratic and
Democratic (Jordan, 1977). With a contrast in both the style, every management style comes in a way
between these two opposing management styles. Autocratic style is oriented towards the results and
the strict rules and procedures that should be followed by the employees whereas in a Democratic
style the manager is completely oriented towards people and their needs and hence employees and
customers are the main themes for his management. The choice of management style will suit
according to the required situations as every style is not fit for every scenario and hence an efficient
mapping must be done. It is an art of getting the employees and the projects on a platform and to have
a vision to extract the best out of all to come over an excellent result. There cannot be a single
management style that will incorporate every required feature for an efficient and effective
management style. Management style is the soul of a bonding amongst the employees (Morris, 1992)
so as to motivate them to work together towards a strengthened goal. It is expected that a manager

  • 2. The Benefits Of Imaginary Friends Mom, can you give Helicoptrin some more spaghetti? She s really hungry after flying all the way here. Everyone knows that imaginary friends are some children s playmates that aren t real and cannot be seen, but what does that exactly mean, and why do some children have them and some do not? According to Marjorie Taylor, a developmental psychologist, an imaginary companion is a friend whom a child has created, talks about or interacts with on a regular basis. Most children s imaginary friend experiences are positive. The imaginary friends are kind and nice, and the children like them. This wasn t always the case. In the past, it was believed that imaginary companions were harmful or evil, and were a sign of a social deficit, demonic possession, or mental illness. (Young, 2016) Another theory from the past was that imaginary friends were of a spiritual nature. Some even believed them to be guardian angels that were there to give support or comfort to adults but got passed down to children. (Kara, 2017) Over many years and through many theories, people have been intrigued about why some young people develop imaginary friends, how common of an occurrence it is and what might be some factors that come into play with children who develop imaginary companions. I will go into an in depth explanation in the paragraphs to follow. The first question that many people want to know, especially when a child in their own life develops one, is how common are imaginary friends? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac 1. During the great depression in 1934 many people didn t have jobs. Not having jobs meant that it would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the promise that the banks would get their money back. The FHA finances itself with insurance premiums that they charge borrowers as well as interest that they receive on reserves. They use these funds to underwrite more loans which helps out people with their mortgages. Two other government sponsored enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They were built by congress to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, the government should take a step back and not be involved in the USA housing market any longer. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in the White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that s supposed to have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well. Trump has said that he wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe even 15% which is great news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reason that this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under conservatorship and cutting the corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again need a bailout. Being under conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make a profit, they have to pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time they aren t allowed to rebuild capital but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes which means that in 2018 they will have not one penny remaining in their capital reserves. Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac will have significant deferred tax asset write downs...which, in turn, could lead to the GSE s need an additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax related losses (Housingwire). To reiterate my point once again, I believe that the government shouldn t continue its involvement in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Multiple Myeloma Essay What if patients that suffer from Multiple Myeloma could finally have a treatment opinion with the aid of the immunology hormone, Thymosin ß 4? This hematologic (blood) disease has no cure at this specific time, but there are some factors that increase the susceptibility of contracting this disease. The factors include being over the age of 65, hereditary disposition and race also, people that already suffer a blood disease will probably contract MM. Why is trying to treat MM so important? Multiple Myeloma is stated as a cancer that is formed in a specific type of white blood cell (plasma cells). The main role of plasma cells is to secrete antibody that recognizes and attacks germs. These malignant plasma cells result in an increase of immunoglobulin components, most commonly IgG. This up regulation of IgG can ultimately cause kidney problems. To fully understand how this hormone may help patients that suffer from this disease first, I want to look at how the immune system interacts with hormones. Then, discuss what Thymosin ß 4 is and the effects on the inhibition of MM. Hormones are important chemical messengers that drive the immune system during the pubescence period of live. Hormones play vital roles in the body for example; growth, development, reproduction, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Sargis, R. M., MD, PhD. (10, October 06). The book moved at a fast pace and kept me interested until the very end. The only part of the book that I wished the author made would be to add more action because a lot people who read this book think it s just about vampires in high school, but the second book features so much action. Overall I would recommend reading this book because it is the first book that introduces the characters and story plot in the six book series. I will read the next six books in the series because I really enjoy the storyline. I hope the action will pick up in the next books and I am excited to learn more about characters throughout the series. I think the book will be easy to relate to teenagers around the age of the main characters who are facing danger at every turn, but still are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Literary Analysis Of The Jungle Book The modern world is truly aghast at the presence of millennials and worldwide political panic. Through the fire, one seeks to find a key to navigating the riverways of life and altogether, Rudyard Kipling s allegorical compilation of Mowgli and the Jungle s actions in The Jungle Book provides amply. As seen, Rudyard Kipling delivered an accurate parallel to the modern world from more than one hundred years ago and accompanies this interpretation with the placement of indomitable protagonists and heinous antagonists. This literary analysis aims to unfold the allegorical representations of society in the The Jungle Book , along with analyzing the characters, literary devices, and the significance of the protagonist s ability to effectively adapt to their surroundings and thrive. To truly understand the importance of Kipling s protagonists to adapt to their environment, the reader must first identify the setting in which the characters are being portrayed. The Jungle Book takes place in the untamed jungles of India near Seoni; this is concluded due to the following quote, it was seven o clock of a very warm evening in the Seeonee Hills when Father Wolf awoke from... . To further understand the significance of the jungle, it is wise to understand the context of the times in which Rudyard Kipling was living. • 7. Solution To Air Pollution Air pollution is a serious problem in the world, but there is a way to deal with it. In other words, the situation is not hopeless. In the articles, Lose 300 Million Tons of CO2 in Just Three Weeks! and Miles to Go: Why Automakers Don t sell a Car that Gets 50 MPG, and the video of Tshering Togbay: This country isn t just carbon neutral. These have a common problem of the air pollution; also, these have similar solutions that people will reduce their using resources or protect with other ways, such as using the nature to refresh the air or the eco resources. In the reading of Lose 300 Million Tons of CO2 in Just Three Weeks! It is indeed a looking solution that is upstream looking, but I see how this consumption can be reduced, as the average consumer of carbon consumption cuts the caloric intake of food intake. Shepard s solution will implement a carbon disclosure strategy so that it can destroy the earth and actually see what contributes to the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases that affect our health. It is that. In Another reading of Miles to Go: Why Automakers Don t sell a Car that Gets 50 MPG, Automakers deliberately do not develop cars that get more than 50 mpg because of the incestuous relationship between the oil industry and the auto manufacturing industry both of which profit from more oil consumption, which means less gas miles. Also, The video of the Tshering Tobgay: This country isn t just carbon neutral shows that in the depths of Himalaya on the border between China and India, there is the Kingdom of Bhutan. The Kingdom of Bhutan promises to stay neutral at all times. With this bright story, Prime Minister Bhutan Tshering Tobgay shared the mission of bringing happiness before economic growth and set the global standard for environmental conservation. There are similarities; the first thing is the articles and the video talk about how the air pollution is occurring. To develop our life, people need to destroy our environment. Second, people try to solve the air pollution with other ways. For example, people will use other resources, or people try to impede their development. These articles and video have different topics too. First, they chose to do the developing with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, even though the Carolina Panthers is under the NFL, it is operating as a for profit business (Patrick Doyle 2014). Therefore, like all for profit businesses, the Panthers should ideally generate a profitable income to continue operating. As a result, the Panthers financial health or future earnings is a quantitative criteria we included in our recommendation. In 2013, the Panthers not only generated $283 million in revenue but also incurred over $150 million in costs (Statista 2014). According to the table, sponsorships, merchandise, and ticket sales account for 60 percent of the Panthers earnings. In our analysis, we conservatively assumed that Greg Hardy s domestic violence incident will directly reduce the above mentioned revenue sources. Greg Hardy s Effect on Panthers Sponsorships Ever since Greg Hardy s recent domestic violence incident, most of the Panthers major corporate sponsors (Bank of America, PepsiCo, MillerCoors, Carolinas Medical Center, Anheuser Busch InBev, and U.S. Airways) issued their statements of disapproval and urged the team to address this issue appropriately. Although Erik Spanberg and Adam O Daniel (2014) stated that none of the Panthers financial sponsors will likely pull away from their donations, these major corporate sponsors don t want to further tarnish their reputation with the NFL s bad publicity. Nonetheless, if a NFL s future decision regarding domestic violence, a widely debated topic in the NFL, generates more negative publicity, these major corporations are willing to stop sponsoring their teams. For example, due to the Adrian Peterson s famous domestic violence and child abuse case, major sponsor Nike issued the following statement: Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns with the NFL. We have suspended our contract with Adrian Peterson (Molly Geary 2014). From referencing precedents on sponsors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Debt To Credit Ratio Essay The debt to credit ratio is the calculation of how much you are using the credit that is available to you. It is an indication of how heavily your finances lean on credit. This ratio accounts for 30% of your credit score. It is next to your payment history, which is 35%. An understanding of this ratio can help you improve your FICO score. Your debt to credit ratio is calculated as follows: Debt used divided by available credit multiplied by hundred = Debt to credit ratio For example a debt of $2,000 on a credit card of $4,000 limit = 50% $3,000 on the same card account gives a ratio of 75%. (Will Rogers) Nothing in today s society would be the way it is without history. There have been many triumphs and tragedies, losses and gains throughout America s history. As for Prohibition, it is unsure as to what its purpose was. Prohibition was a law passed to make the sale of alcoholic beverages banned. However, through many years of determination to stay alive, the Prohibition Act s fate was failure. Our leaders drove down a daring yet determined path, and after countless excruciating years of struggle, their final destination was failure. Prohibition was a choice our government made for the better sake of our country. The dry era was a period from 1919 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Roaring Twenties was a good era for many people, although it did have it s rough and difficult times. There were multiple reasons for this epic move. America s drinking habits were progressively getting worse, in the 1920 s especially. Factories started growing and people were forced to work harder and longer grueling hours just to support their families. Many people became depressed and started to drink more vigorously. Binge drinking had also become a new major trend. Due to the exhaustion of all the work people had been doing lately, many had become upset and depressed. This then led to drinking a lot more, and illegally, with the new laws being enforced. The number of alcohol related deaths and crimes were progressively growing. The anticipated conclusion of this act was to reduce drinking done by the workers in factories and all jobs. The factory owners wanted to increase the production rate. Faster production was intercepted by drunk employees. (1920 s Prohibition: Moonshine, Bootleggers, and Speakeasies). This major event divided the country in two; You were either a Wet or a Dry . The Wets were the citizens who were against the Eighteenth Amendment. This group was all for selling and drinking alcohol, they enjoyed it. The Drys on the other hand, were for this law. The Drys agreed that heavy drinking should be banned. In 1919, the Wets consisted of about fifty three percent of the states in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Summary On The Court Decision Decides A Software Patent... Summary This Supreme Court decision decides a software patent complaint between Alice Corporation Pty. Ltd. (Alice) and CLS Bank International et al (CLS Bank). The question in this case asks whether a patent claiming the use of a fundamental economic principle is eligible for patent because it applies the use of a computer. Procedural History The petitioner of the case, CLS Bank, has several patents (Nos. 5,970,479, 6,912,510, 7,149,720, 7,725,375) pertaining to the exchange of financial obligations between two parties by using a computer system as a third party intermediary i.e. escrow. (Alice Corp v. CLS Bank, 13 298 S. Ct. 2 (2013)) The respondent in this case, CLS Bank, is a cash settlement service dealing in the foreign exchange market. CLS Bank has filed suit against Alice in District Court, claiming the patents are invalid, unenforceable, or not infringed. After the Supreme Court decided on Bilski v. Kappos, No. 08 964 (2010) both parties filed cross motions in District Court seeking summary judgment as to whether the asserted claims are eligible for patent. The District Court held that the claims are patent ineligible because they are directed to an abstract idea. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed the decision with a divided panel. Their assertion stated that there was no obvious use of an abstract concept. The Federal Circuit then agreed to hear the claim en banc and vacated the panel s 1 opinion

  • 14. Similarities Between Equality And Inequality The social issue of equality and inequality, has dated back to the beginning of time. Although there is no way to find out, would one really think that cavemen would not fight about who got the most food? Even children would argue if someone else has more crayons, or more toys. Everyone has demanded equality at least once in their lifetime. Unfortunately inequality occurs more often than equality, and this will never change. Race, sex, and religion are the three main points that occur most often in today s society. If someone were to turn on the news, they would more than likely see global issues on race, sex, religion, and their fight for equality. I will be discussing the similarities and differences of equality and inequality through race, sex, and religion. When someone thinks about the similarities of equality and inequality in a social setting, they might think that there are none. In fact, there are many similarities, and the main one is humans. Humans either have equality, or they do not have it, and want it. Usually people have more courage in a group, rather than alone. This is also a similarity with equality and inequality. It is often groups that rightfully raise the issue of an inequality between themselves and the rest of society (Gosepath). The rest of society that Gosepath is referring to, is people who have equality, which connects equality and inequality. The first similarity of equality and inequality is race. Both sides deal with all kinds of people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the important issues. She uses Emma s management of Harriet to do this. She creates contrast between Emma and Harriet, she portrays Emma as beautiful and intelligent though we can still see faults in her personality. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. In this sense, Emma is very naïve and shows how she misjudges situations. Mr Martin is of a higher social class than Harriet and also has more money. Here Emma is misusing her patronage. A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr Martin s proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma does not realise this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma s father is satirised by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He, therefore, does not see Emma s matchmaking and management of people. He is one of the main people of whom Emma manages. Through this we see that Austen characterises Emma to abuse her own patronage. The position of women was an issue in Austen s time and is highlighted in this novel. At this time, women had very much a lower position in society than men but, because of Emma s inheritance and family history, she is an exception to the rule. With the power this gives her, we see yet another contrast between Harriet and Emma. Emma s intelligence and Harriet s lack of it is another contrast. Emma has this ... WHAT INFLUENCE DOES THE BANK OF ENGLAND HAVE OVER THE TERM STRUCTURE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MONETARY POLICY To understand the term structure of interest rate we need to elaborate how interest rates function and how they are determined. Interest rates are a vital tool to all the macro economic policy objectives of a government such as control of inflation, investment as well as employment. Interest rates refer to the price paid by deficit agents for borrowing funds from the surplus agents. A line that plots interest rate at a set point in time is the term structure or yield curve. Interest rates which may be short term or long term are linked to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This particular curve is unusual as it is inverted. The market is anticipating a fall in rates and hence the shape of the yield curves. The sensitivity of such a curve can be explained taking into account that the change in the rates reflected is small, 0.24% over the duration of the security, 30 years. This is quite relevant when speculating on future economic conditions. (www.bankofengland.co.uk) There are three main theories which relate to yield curves. The pure expectations theory implies that forward rates are unbiased estimators of future interest rates. This theory states that the term structure of interest rates reflects the views of the market about the path of future short term interest rates. Thus when explaining a positive yield curve, the market will be expecting short term interest rates to rise in the future. The opposite applies when the curve is negative and when flat the markets expect short term interest rates to remain approximately the same. This theory generally over estimate interest rates and does not assume that investors are risk averse and want a higher return when investing. The liquidity preference theory states that bond holders are risk averse and wish to be compensated for holding the long term security by a liquidity premium. The normal yield curve to explain this should be up sloping indicating preference for liquidity by investors and lower risk of shorter term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Why Housing Price Is So High Why housing price is so high in China, especially in core cities? And why the government didn t do anything to reduce the price? Because government is the one of the cause of high housing price. In China government own the land, government sell the land to real estate developers at a very high price at the beginning, and then heavily tax real estate industry s income which from selling the house they built on that land. Real estate industry wants to make profit; therefore, they increase housing price in order to make a better profit from consumer. Additionally, since real estate is a big part of China s economy and a large portion of government s tax revenue is coming from the real estate industry; therefore, government does not want housing price to drop. Government does publish some policy to adjust hosing price when it increased too rapidly, and the purpose of government s adjustment is not to decrease the housing price, but to slow the speed of increasing. Although the housing price is incredibly high in China today, the demands for housing are kept increasing, which is another reason lead to high housing price. The average Chinese city dweller takes their first mortgage at the age of 27, far earlier than in other countries. Why do young urban Chinese are buying first home so early? Connecting the public to the building should be more than just creating a fascinating and interesting facade. My idea is to describe how a building is able to connect to people, by allowing them to not just walk inside or around but on top of the building creating a public space. The reason why I chose this topic is that I wanted to make a connection to my studio project, and how I developed the idea for it. In addition, I wanted to compare it to the Oslo Opera House and how this assisted me in arriving at my final design. My studio project and the Oslo Opera House have a different scale however, I think they share some similar concepts. The idea of togetherness, open space, and easy movement access to the public, and most significantly its connection to the landscape. Firstly, the location of the buildings is disparate, the Oslo Opera House does not really have a connection to the landscape, since it is mostly part of the city surrounded by other buildings and where traffic is heavy. There might be some connection between the Oslo Opera House and the landscape of the river, which has influenced the design known as The Wave Wll . Cultural Relativism Is Not Ideal Cultural Relativism is not Ideal In The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, James Rachel s main argument is that cultural relativism is not creditable, but the whole theory of what cultural relativists believe, isn t completely incorrect. Cultural relativism is the theory that beliefs, activities, and most values are based on the person s culture. In other words, right and wrong is different in each culture. I agree with James Rachel on his view of cultural relativism because he has very good reasons for objecting the argument that cultural relativists make. This paper will argue that James Rachel s opinion on cultural relativism is correct and the assumptions that cultural relativist believe are incorrect. Cultural Relativists believe in the cultural differences argument. This argument says: 1.Different cultures have different moral codes. 2.Therefore, there is no objective truth in morality. Right and wrong are only matters of opinion and opinions vary from culture to culture (Rachel 21). Rachel s considers the cultural differences argument for cultural relativism to be unsound. I agree with her because it just is not logical for something to not have anything that is objectively true just because people disagree on it. An example that stands out to me regards murder. If Society A agreed on murder and society B disagreed on murder than the conclusion is not that there is no objective truth on the matter. Murder is obviously wrong because if in a particular society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom s Cabin in 1851 specifically to illustrate and highlight the evils and inhumanity of slavery to American readers. Slavery, at the time, was a heated political issue for which few women were allowed to voice an opinion. Her strong views and christian influences were revealed in the novel, Uncle Tom s Cabin, as she depicted the immoralities of slavery, the suffering of slaves, and the destruction of the family unit. Stowe, through her writing, wanted to open the eyes of southerners and gain their support for the abolishment of slavery in the South. Many Americans objected to slavery and brought about efforts to put an end to it. In 1817 the American Colonization Society was founded for the purpose of raising money to buy slaves from the South and send them back to Africa. In 1833 William Lloyd Garrison and Arthur Tappan formed the American Anti Slavery Society. (Carlson 1) Lyman Beecher, Harriet Beecher Stowe s father, was the head teacher at Lane Seminary and supported colonization as a means to end slavery. Upon sharing his thoughts opposing slavery with his students, they all dropped out and went to Oberlin College in a show of disagreement of his views.
