Stop And Frisk Policies
1. How do you think stop and frisk policies affect the relationship between law enforcement and
minorities in America? When thinking in The Police, as responsible for law and order, people often
expect respect to the standards and protection. But, when law enforcement goes beyond the
boundaries of civil rights and becomes abusive, the relationship between those involved just breaks
out. The main problem of the stop and frisk policies does not seem to be its mystique to prevent the
crime Is its execution. In that order, the statistics cited by the four newspaper articles provided to the
forum, show that the focus of the stops is a stereotype of crime based on racism and discrimination,
and not a legal reasonable suspicious . Such

Heteronormative Assumptions

marriage challenges heteronormative assumptions within society or not again. In the following
paragraphs, the essay will discuss first what is a heteronormative assumption in the society and why
the marriage of same sex couples with impact society norms, followed by the evidence that support
the notion, and also the counter attack towards the argument, finally, the evaluation will illustrate both
opinions and come to a conclusion.

Cradley And Greg Heffley Comparison
Have you ever read a book? Well, most people would answer yes to that question and for me it would
definitely be a yes. Unlike most teens my age, I absolutely, positively love to read. But have you ever
been reading a book and thought you a had a similarity or two with the character? Most people would
also answer yes to this question also, Including me. I have found myself to be like many characters,
but none like Greg Heffley. Greg and I have many similarities we were born on the same day, we live
in the same state, and we even have the same middle name James. Although those similarities are
quite interesting, I have dug deeper into this character, not just looking at the outer earthly appearance
but I have considered how he thinks, his personality, and even his actions. This is where the real
similarities are in the heart and we are so similar it s a little bit scary. Greg is always loyal never
leaving anyone not even his annoying friend rowley. Greg is always brave and never afraid to try
something new. Greg is also defiant and even though it may get us in trouble sometimes there is
always good in the bad.
To begin with, Greg Heffley is the most loyal friend ever imaginable, being a strong friend through the
thick and thin, through the ups and downs, no matter what Greg Heffley is always there when you
need him. For this reason Greg and I are very much alike, always being a dependable, trustworthy, and
most important, loyal no matter what you are going through

The Goals Of Social Media
How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals,
that you should announce them to the people around you?
This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information
as they post their goals on social media. However, how many times do we actually see them
accomplish these goals?
New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can
do if you really want to achieve them.
Why?
The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever
reason.
I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to

That scares them.
How to Deal with Naysayers
The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make
them believe in you.
However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life.
The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers.
What is it that you owe these people, which is forcing you to prove them right?
Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your
children and they are not in control of anything in your life. Remaining in a situation where you are
unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly.
Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals.
These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to
stop you from making the changes that you want to make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them
won t make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that
they care about you, just as you are.
It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can
continue to tell themselves that there is no point in trying to get healthy because if you weren t
successful they won t be either.
It is just another way for them to come up with an excuse, a reason that they shouldn t worry about

Governmental Systems of China
The country of China throughout the last century has experienced a large and significant variety of
governmental systems, from historical to contemporary. From the Manchu Empire which focused on
Confucianism to the current Communist Party of the People s Republic of China, the government of
China has changed drastically throughout the years, ultimately contributing to the country that China
is today. It is significant to understand that the changes made in the governmental system were so
drastic, that they stretched from the Mainland all the way to Taiwan and Hong Kong. The beginning
empires of the governmental system in China were certainly different than the country s modern day
government. The first empire can be traced back to the year 221 B.C. in which the Qin Dynasty was
ruling. The dynasty was formed by an emperor named Qin Shi Huang, after the state of Qin conquered
six other states in China. The dynasty had a goal in mind to create an imperial state which was unified
by a higher political power with a strong economy. This goal was important to the leaders in order to
maintain a strong military power in the country. The Qin Dynasty also wanted control over the
peasantry, which allowed the Great Wall of China to be built. The purpose of building the Great Wall
of China was to put an end to the raids of the nomadic central Asians from the north. From the
leadership of the Qin came a system of writing, as well as a creation of many roads and other public

today s world. I have witnessed friends of mine get bullied and I know that the feeling that they have
when being bullied is awful. They feel like they are all alone. We need to come together as a

Leaders and producers can learn different lessons from the book. Key Lessons Related to Changes,
Innovation, and Leadership The primary target of the show were pre school children from low income
families. The book narrates the episodes of the show in the first week of its production to demonstrate
how they were related to its objectives. As a way of preparing children to school, the first episodes
were sponsored by number two and three and letters E, S and W. The main lesson from this part is that
any producer or leader should remain focused on the objective of the task. Besides praising the show,
Davis explains the criticism that it received from the public. The critique contributed to the significant
changes made in the show. The aim of criticism is to enlighten producers as to the things they should
focus on. Failure to act on the critiques may wreck the show. A good leader should be ready to adopt
changes. For example, in the 1970s, the management removed the African American Muppet as he
portrayed negative stereotype due to numerous detentions and other misbehaviors. Also, in the 2000s,
the producers included more female characters in the show. The change was made after complaining
on gender inequality among characters in the show. The show also focused on the contemporary
issues. For example, in 2005, the program started educating children about healthy eating by
introducing fruit and vegetable breakfast. Innovating new Muppet every time the program wants

The Jewish Ghettos Of The Holocaust
Have you ever been in a room so crowded you thought you might implode? Or been so sick you
questioned if you were still alive? How about so hungry you felt as though you would shrivel up and
simply cease to exist? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may almost be able to
imagine what life was like in the Jewish ghettos. There were ghettos before the Holocaust, the first
being in Venice in the 16th century, there are ghettos today, and there will be ghettos in the future, but
the Jewish ghettos of the Holocaust are by far the most prominent.
According to Merriam Webster a ghetto is, a part of a city in which members of a particular group or
race live usually in poor conditions (ghetto). This paper will focus, however, on what daily life was
like in the ghettos, what Jews did or didn t do to prevent their fate, and how Holocaust survivors are
doing now. I chose this topic because when Elie and his family were living in the ghetto in the
beginning of Night, it seemed as though they had plenty of opportunities to escape that they didn t
take. It also seemed much closer to pleasant than I imagined, and I was curious to see if that was
completely true.
When I started this project I was hoping to find personal survivor stories about what the conditions of
the ghettos, how people transitioned into life in them, and what they did to try and keep life as normal
as it could be. I was expecting a bounty of examples of indifference because in Night the Jews

Early History Of America By Robert Lloyd Garrison And The...
Early History of America It draws the global attention to the extend and the achievements of America
concerning the major issues of development. However, it must be noted that the history of
achievement takes its form of complexity that features the details and characters involved in the
immediate past, as well as the ones who determined the current status of America. In the process,
major issues like slavery, revolution and settlement served as major drawbacks that hampered
development within the American boundaries. In the Portrait of America , the collective work done by
Oates and Errico (2012) features an important section that avails more information headed I Will Be
Heard: William Lloyd Garrison And The Struggle Against Slavery depicting the work of a humbled
author Ian Berlin, who focused much on Nat Turner, who was by then considered a revolt following
the prevailing conditions of slavery. Further details on antislavery reveal the true character of an
abolitionist, Garrison. In addition, the work narrows down to the actions taken by Thomas Jefferson
related to antislavery. Garrison s time entailed slavery that stretched to the American south
accompanied with denial of rights from the African Americans. Segregation cultivated racism in a
quite far reaching extent of observing every nature and behavior of the African Americans. Such
actions among others raised a great concern of emancipating the blacks beginning with releasing the
children of the slaves.

Persecution Of Christianity
Christianity originally was not viewed as a world religion. Christians were being persecuted in the
Roman empire by order of the emperors. They were already a small population and continued to get
smaller. Upon the arrival of Constantine the great the rulings of the Roman empire began to change.
The persecutions of Christians came to a halt when Constantine gained a role of higher power in the
second Rome, leading to promotion of Christianity spread and the beginning of the new empire of
Constantinople. Christians were only a small population found in the Roman empire. Due to the group
being a minority they were seen as the scapegoats for all issues in the empire. They were blamed for
anything from terrible weather to disease. Persecution of Christians began with blame, from emperor
Nero in 64 AD, due to a simple fire in Rome. Due to their small population it was easy to discriminate
and persecute them. However, upon Constantine s new rule of the empire the persecution of Christians
comes to a halt. Constantines introduction to the Christian faith occurred during a defining battle.
Maxentius and Constantine were in battle to gain the title of emperor of the Roman empire. During the
battle of Milvian Bridge, God appeared to Constantine and told him if he marched into battle with the
sign of God, Chi Rho cross, that he would come out victorious. Constantine in disbelief asked
Christians if this was the true sign of the one and only God. When reassured by the Christians

Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age
Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age
The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were
both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern
hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period
of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a
more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it.
The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the
Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that
time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a
change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the
North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary).
In this current time period, our planetary temperatures have been far warmer than any record has
shown in the past two thousand years. However, evidence also suggests that some places were very
much cooler than today including the tropical pacific. When the warm places are averaged out with
the cool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that these results are not conclusive enough to make a general, overall statement regarding
the temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period. However, these results have been accurate for
determining temperatures during that specific time period and at that specific location, giving
researchers a step in the right direction. They will soon be able to determine temperatures across the
Northern Hemisphere, so they can determine the effects of the Medieval Warm Period and better
predict what might occur in the future temperature wise based upon the effects of human and non

The Council Of Nicaea As An Anti Arian Creed
Controversy
The Council of Nicaea which met in 325 was called by Constantinople in reaction against Arianism.
The Nicene Creed was produced at the Council of Nicaea as an anti Arian Creed (Lane 29). The
Council of Nicaea held that Jesus comes from God, Jesus was at the same level of authority as God,
Jesus is, Son of God, not a creature ( Lane 29), Jesus is, of one substance with the Father [homoousio]

The Council of Constantinople was called in 381 by Theodosius in reaction against three heresies. .
The Council of Constantinople argued against Arianism
Chalcedon by asserting equality and individuality of the trinity (Lane 40). The Council argued against
Macedonianism by asserting the equality of the Holy Spirit in the trinity (Lane 40). Finally the
Council argued against Apollinarianism by asserting Jesus s humanity (Lane 40)
Marcian the emperor called The Council of Chalcedon in 451 ( Lane 60) in reaction against four

against Apollinaris by proclaiming Jesus s full humanity ( Lane 61), it fought against Nestorius by
arguing that deity and humanity are equal in Jesus, and finally they argued against Eutyches by
arguing that deity and humanity should not be confused. According to Lane, Its teaching can be

Hector Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique
My favorite piece is Symphonie Fantastique by the composer Hector Berlioz. This is my favorite
piece because I love how it really tells a story through music. You can feel the emotions he puts into
every single sound. Frankly, I enjoy this the most, because it is the only orchestra song I have listened
to that I could see the picture running through my head. Therefore throughout this essay I will show
you an in depth look into the piece Symphonie Fantastique and illustrate why it is my favorite. Hector
was born in 1803 in La Cotes St Andre, a small town near the French alps. Hector began using
instruments at the age of twelve, however he was a very isolated and lonely teen. He went to school to
first become a doctor, but then he realized that was not his passion and switched to music.
Furthermore Hector Berlioz became known as the father of modern orchestration. During the writing
of Symphonie Fantastique he was inspired very inspired by Beethoven s work and began writing
symphonies because of him. This piece was originally written when Berlioz saw an actress in a
Shakespeare play and fell in love with her. He became obsessive and wrote this to get her attention
and hopefully steal her heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of suicide and murder, ecstasy and despair. The symphony does have a program because there s five

Symphonie Fantastique does not have lyrics, however they are not necessary because the story is told
through the emotions and the music in the piece. It is a romantic symphony because the form is first
movement as sonata allegro form, second movement as thematic development, third movement as
minuet trio, and fourth movement as sonata

Assess sociological explanations of changes in the status of childhood?
Childhood is a social construction and varies between times, places and groups. Most sociologists see
our ides of childhood as a fairly recent one, the result of industrialisation and other social changes.
Modern society constructs childhood as a tie of vulnerability, innocence and segregation from the
adult world. The March of progress sociologist believe we live in an increasingly child centred
society. They state that children have existence of child poverty, abuse and exploitation. Child

These have encouraged parents to make a greater financial and emotional investment in the fewer
children that we have now. Children s health and development became the subject of medical
knowledge. Jacques Donzelot (1977) observes how theories of child development that began to appear
from the 19th century. The laws and policies that apply specifically to children, such as minimum
wages for a wide range of activities from sex to smoking, have reinforced the idea that children are
different from adults and so different rules must be applied to their behaviour.
The march of progress view
Is that position of children has improved dramatically in a relatively short period of time. However,
conflict sociologist such as Marxists and feminists dispute this. They argue that society is based on
conflicts between social groups such as social classes or between genders. In this conflict, some
groups have more power, status or wealthy than others. Conflict sociologist see the relationship
between groups as one of domination and subordination, in which the dominant act as oppressors.
Conflict sociologist argues that the march of progress view of modern childhood is based on false and
idealised image that ignores important inequalities. They criticise the march of progress view on two
grounds and they; that there are inequalities among children in terms of the opportunities and risks
they face, many today remain

Skeletal Muscle Vs Muscle

The sliding filament theory of muscle contraction is basically saying the myosin thick filaments slide

this occurring.

Evil Vs Secularism
The issue of evil is the favorite point on which secularists hang their atheistic argument.
The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is
omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the other
hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the
undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is able
and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then attempts to
work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way:
1. If God is willing and is unable, he is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God.
2. If he is able and unwilling, he is envious [meaning: evil], which is equally at variance with God.
3. If he is neither willing nor able he is both envious [meaning evil] and feeble, and therefore not God.
4. If he is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils or
why does he not remove them?

God is truly the only essential and genuinely free being in the universe. All other created beings are
dependent and reliant upon him. Dr. Waita rightly points out that the issue of evil becomes tricky
when we render our theology theocentric, dragging God to the court of human reason to answer for his
actions. Since God is the only truly free being, he was free and very justified in creating various
angelic beings as well as humans. God decided to create them with freewill instead of being robotic in
nature. Because God gave them freewill and intellect, they could experience self will, emotion, and
creativity. Dr. Waita points out that as intellectual, they had the capacity to know God s will, and the
free will to choose to obey or disobey

Courage In Beowulf
Beowulf Essay
Beowulf, an epic poem, was written by an anonymous author who described the Anglo Saxon era.
During this era, Anglo Saxon heroes were classified as courageous, generous and faithful. In the
poem, the character Beowulf is classified as an Anglo Saxon hero. People of the Anglo Saxon era
spoke what is now known as Old English. A characteristic of Beowulf is courageous. Courage is the
ability to do something that frightens you. Beowulf wasn t necessarily frightened, but he did do
something that frightened the men of Hrothgar. Beowulf does many things to show his courage to the
people of Hrothgar. One way he shows his courage is when he fights Grendel, the monster who was
killing and eating the men of Hrothgar, without any

degradation. The increasing level of pollution, particularly in the city area causing numerous problems

increasing number of mortality rates. The pollution includes air, water, and noise pollution. With
vehicle emissions and forest fire being among one of the most to cause air pollution. In 2012, a
legislation called First Time Car Buyer Tax Rebate Program has been launched. It has been critiqued
for being a huge part of an increasing traffic jams, stretched finances and most importantly the side
effect on publics health. The program was originally aimed for people who are using motorcycles to
switch to cars. Also to boost the automobile industries that has dropped since 2011 after the flood in
Thailand. With the boost of the industry, many automotive companies which already have their
facilities manufacture and assemble their cars in Thailand. This causes the level of emission and
industrial wastewater to rise. The increase number of cars and factories also mean the higher level of
noise pollution. Which in human not only causes annoyance, if being exposed for a long period of

Irving Berlin Contributions
Irving Berlin made important contributions to musicals and music writing. After his background
information is provided, the prior sentence will be proven by using examples of the songs he made as
a freelance songwriter, a songwriter for Broadway musical productions , and Hollywood Musical
productions, the popularity of the songs, and the awards.
Israel Berlin who we now know as Irving Berlin, was born May 11th, Eighteen 1888, in the town of
Tyumen, a Siberian city in Russia. He was the one out of eight children. His father, Moses Baline, was
a Cantor in the Jewish Synagogue, and his mother was Lena Lipkin Baline During the time he lived in
Russia, he and his family were treated terribly, for the fact that Russia was at that time attacking the
Jews and the Jewish community. The only thing he remembered about Russia was when an Anti
Semitic group burned down his house, and he sat in front of his house all night watching it burn. In
circa 1883 his family moved to Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States of America via
Ellis Island. Everyone in his family regardless of age, except for practical reasons such as an infant,
had to work. Although his family was very poor, he did not seem to notice. His father was a very strict
Jew and would punish his children with beatings even for as simple of a reason as taking their shoes
off in an unorthodox way. He worked odd jobs until he was eight years of age, when his father died,
he became a street singer while doubling as

Tree Thoughts Research Paper
Tree Thoughts In the early 1950s when I was a tyke of five or six, in my backyard with no sand box or
swing set, grew a cherry tree probably planted in the 1930s by our home s first owners. One of its
major limbs had been sawed off. In spite of being an amputee, its remaining branches of dark green
serrated leaves stretched to five or seven feet higher than the flat roofed garage it stood next to. It
produced an ample crop, maybe twenty five quarts, of sour cherries which ripened rapidly in the
middle of summer there in Canton, Ohio. Birds liked those red cherries as much as we did. More often
than not we picked them before the robins began snacking on them. My mom had grown up on a farm
about fifty miles east of Canton and knew how to bake a cherry pie. Starting from scratch, using lard
or Crisco in her recipe, guaranteed her crust would be crisp and flaky. My parents grew up when
canning fruits and vegetables was more the norm than not. Their generation valued thriftiness. As their
first born I was a shy, inquisitive child. My usual summer attire was blue jeans turned up three or four
inches, and a colorful, striped tee shirt. When I was older I was told, I acted grown up because I had a
serious air about me. Like trees, though, I thrived in the sunshine. After just a few minutes of being in

Descriptive Essay On Dance
Bryan is a free spirit type‒all smiles and full of life. Despite his teaching position, he was one of the
youngest of the guys there at 21 years old. Having danced for nearly 6 years and teaching for 3, he has
found his place in dance more than anywhere else. It s a really great outlet for self expression, and its
something you can do when you grow older, he laughed. I just love the stylization and personality you
can infuse into your dancing. Chairs lining the entryway were quickly filled with personal belongings.
Although it served as an informal changing area, the most well prepared students came already
dressed with the necessary dance items in their bags. The dark colored outfits were especially
important. Not only did the class looked unified, but it also gave each student an expressive and
distinguishable style. Despite the routine of bringing these items, sweat towels, yoga mats, and other
items were available for the students to borrow from if they forgot their own. One student, in
particular, Anna, seemed to struggle with the simple weekly ritual of remembering her belongings. As
the students unrolled their yoga mats on the dance floor, Anna ran off to the bathroom to change and
scoured the designated lockbox in search of a mat she liked. Although Anna did not comply with the
standard behavior of the subculture, Bryan did not expect all of the students to be equally familiar
with the pre class routine. Anna was obviously the most recent addition to the class,

J.G. Ballard s Science Fiction Legacy
Ballard along with many other new wave science fiction writers believed that science fiction should be
taken seriously as a form of literature. In order to fulfill this belief the new wave science fiction
writers began experimenting with language and their style of writing, creating cognitive estrangement
, indicating a kind of alienation or de familiarization effect that they used to separate postmodern/new
wave science fiction from traditional/pulp science fiction. Ballard, amongst many others, is considered
one of the forefathers that helped develop the New wave movement to what we know of it today.
Ballard was born in Shanghai in 1930, where he spent the first fifteen years of his profound life. At the
age of sixteen, Ballard interned at a Japanese camp during World War II and, was deported to England.
He attended Cambridge University and obtained his degree in medicine, and a few years later he sold
his first story to New Worlds, a renowned science fiction magazine, in 1956. He is the author of
numerous novels and short story collections, including Crash, Empire of the Sun and The Atrocity
Exhibition. Ballard stepped into the realm of the new wave movement, early in his career with
apocalyptic/post apocalyptic novels such as The Burning World (1964), The Crystal World (1966) and
many others. Ballard was a writer who challenges easy categorization: even his most speculative
books can t be fitted neatly with a genre label, and his more mainstream works contain

Everyday In The Everyday By Alice Walker Summary
The story begins when Mom is waiting in the yard for her oldest daughter, Dee, to return. Mom s yard
is an extension of her living room: the dirt floor empties into the small hut without separation. We are
told little about Mom s husband; he is simply out of the picture and all of Mama s achievements,
including the upbringing of his children, seem to have been made by his own hand. Walker does not
establish the absolute geographical environment, but we can assume that Mama s small farm is
somewhere in rural Georgia.
Mom talks about her youngest daughter, Maggie. Maggie nervously anticipates her older sister, Dee.
Maggie feels apprehensive about the emotional stress and anxiety that will come with the arrival of
Dee. Mom daydreams of being on the Johnny Carson Show and meeting Dee in front of a sea of white
faces.
Mom comes out of her reverie to explain the realities of her life. Unlike the thin and light fantasy of
herself in the Johnny Carson Show, Mom has the darkest skin and is big boned, wearing a jumpsuit
instead of feminine clothing. She points out that her fat keeps her warm in the winter and cool in the
summer. Mom does the work of two men on her farm. You can kill a calf and let the meat freeze at
nightfall.
Maggie hides in the shadows because she does not want to be completely visible. Mom describes her
as a lame dog. Mom remembers the fire that burned down her first house. Maggie still has the scars of
that fateful night. Mom also remembers that Dee stayed there and saw the house burn with a
condescending smile on her face. For Dee, the old house defined them as poor black farmers, the
descendants of sharecroppers. Mom remembers how Dee proposed to be different from her rural
neighbors with her book intelligence and having her own style. Dee wanted nice things and was
determined to get them. If she could not afford to buy fancy clothes, she would. She rarely heard the
word no .
Dee finally arrives wearing a colorful and elegant African dress. Maggie tries to run to the house, but
Mom stops her. Dee has changed her name to the more African that sounds Wangero . Mom tries to
explain that her given name Dee has a deep family meaning, but Wangero insists that, at some point, it
must surely have

The Expectations On Personality Types
Introduction
Expectations on Personality types a strategic view of relationships at work
1 List your gap and why it is important to theory and practice, unaddressed, and advancing (see Grant
Pollock, 2011)
o GAP
Previous research has not yet investigated how different personality types may have different
expectations towards leaders within the workplace. Neither Expectancy theory, Leader Member
Exchange Theory or Metaperceptions have addressed which expectations followers might have
towards leader s personality types. Thus, how differences between followers expectations and leaders
actual personality traits affect job performance is the gap considered by the present work. A better
understanding of these interactions
o IMPORTANT TO THEORY AND PRACTICE
Matta, Scott, Koopman, and Conlon (2015), argue that employee work engagement was higher when
leaders and subordinates agree about the quality of their relationship. Leaders who acknowledge what
are expected from them regarding their way of leading may help them to tailor a more efficient
leadership model and consequently improve performance. Also, Lopez (2013a), suggests that there is
a significant relationship between personality features and leadership style. Moreover, academic work
has highlighted the positive impact of Transformational leadership on organizational performance.

THEORIES ON CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS The end of the Cold War was not just a political
landmark: It also triggered an extraordinary intellectual event, inviting the construction of a number of
ambitious paradigms that attempt to account for its meta historical implications. The main stream
theories of Francis Fukuyama and Samuel Huntington, although they are not the only one existing,
have been the two predominant approaches to the new world structure and the possible fronts that
humanity will have to face as a result of the new divisions among different cultures and/or
civilizations and the different ideologies prevailing. However both have been strongly criticized and

The World Bank
Governance is becoming more and more essential in values of major international institutions. In order
to receive the World Bank credit, poor countries need to comply several conditions set by World Bank
which are in most cases aim to promote good governance but also liberalise countries economy to
open market. As the essay question suggests not all people support this neo capitalist approach as it
may result in tension, exploiting of one by the other, and impact negatively on both society and
environment of the developing country. As a result of successful lobbying from civil society
institutions, World Bank and other major international institutions created monitoring and complaint
processing panels to monitor its activities (Park, 2010). However the scope of influence of these
panels can be limited and can have insufficient results. Though decision making in World Bank is
getting more horizontal than it used to be, still economically and politically powerful countries are
ultimately making key decisions without enough involvement of poorer countries. This paper will aim
to analyse the reasons behind criticisms towards World Bank, nature of its funded projects, and
effectiveness of the World Bank inspection panel.
World Bank s influence is expanding due to the enormity of the challenges it is facing. Challenges of
the modern world in most cases cannot be handled by single state or institution (W.Scharpf, 1994).

The Protest Song By Charles Albert Tindley
The protest song selected for this report was We Shall Overcome (Various Artists, 1945) written by
various artists, with lyrics originating from an older activist s hymn. This report will cover the history,
purpose, lasting effects, and the value of We Shall Overcome and its predecessor I ll Overcome
Someday . We Shall Overcome the protest song has found itself tied to multiple social movements,
however, its origin has its roots planted in the civil rights movement. After researching about this song
I came across the fact that the lyrics and the style of the song originated from I ll Overcome Some Day
, a hymn created by Charles Albert Tindley, An East Coast Methodist Minister, in 1901. Charles
Tindley was the son of an African American slave father and free mother. It wasn t until the mid 1940s
(ten years after Charles had passed on, leaving behind a lifetime of community work and activism)
that we see the first rendition of the modern We Shall Overcome as a protest song by a tobacco and
food union group. A few short years later in 1947 this song s title was recognized as We Shall
Overcome in an edition of people s songs bulletin , a publication directed by Pete Seeger, who is very
well known for his rendition of this song and many others. This song is an anthem, a chant if you will.
Its purpose is not to drag attention to a specific event, such as 41 Shots (Springsteen, 2000) where
Bruce Springsteen emotionally portrays the events of a fatal

Analysis of Filming Techniques in Spirited Away
Spirited Away, titled Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi in Japan, follows a young girl named Chihiro on
an adventurous, yet threatening journey into a magical realm after her parents are turned into pigs. She
forms relationships with people that will help her find her way back home such as Haku, Zeniba, and
Mr. Kamaji. She also encounters those like Yubaba who try to make her time in the realm of spirits
difficult. Spirited Away quickly became Japan s highest grossing film of all time. It received many
great reviews in every aspect of filmmaking. It won several awards, including A Golden Bear in 2002
at the Berlin International Film Festival, and an Academy Award in 2003 for Best Animated Film.
Hayao Miyazaki, the film s writer and director, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miyazaki also introduces to the audience the importance of one s name. From the moment she gets a
job from Yubaba the bathhouse owner, Chihiro is bound under a contract that magically changes her
name to Sen. If it had not been for a goodbye card from a friend, Chihiro would have forgotten her
real name. As for Haku, he has not been able to recall his own name for years. When he does
remember later in the film, his eyes are opened and he undergoes emotional and physical changes.
Another aspect of Japanese folklore involved in the film highlights passing through spaces which
mark a separation between one world and another. Areas like the bridge to the bathhouse, and the
tunnel to the abandoned theme park represent this part of Japanese culture. However, the most
important cultural aspect included in the film is the original title. When women or children suddenly
disappeared and could not be located for a long period of time, it was assumed they had met
kamikakushi, as Reider puts it. Once they come back from Kamikakushi, they are believed to be
socially resurrected. One could say that in the film Chihiro meets her own Kamikakushi during the
time she is away from her parents.
As she goes through the tunnel at the beginning of the film, Chihiro is a whiny little girl who does not
like change. When she comes out of the tunnel at the end of the film, she is standing tall, fearless, and
confident. This post Kamikakushi is one of many examples of character

How Did Akhenaten Change Of Religion
Akhenaten
During the time of the new kingdom a powerful Pharaoh came into power.
Akhenaten, also known as Amenophis IV believed that only one god should rule universally, and that
god is known as the Aten. Akhenaten was the crucial changer of polytheism. Changing polytheism to
monotheism was an enormous impact on society back then and now. But, Nicholas Reeves uses all
sorts of evidence and opinions of his, to conclude that Akhenaten changed the religion of Egypt.
Historians have asked why Akhenaten changed the religion of Egypt, and many opinions have come
into contact. Reeves argues that, even though Akhenaten was the founder a new faith he desperately
used the new religion for political uses. In an attempt to reassert the authority ... Show more content

Reeves interprets the changing of religion for political reasons, and it all started with Hatshepsut.
Thutmose III was the sixth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty and was ruling co regent with his aunt
Hatshepsut. Akhenaten wanted to restore power in himself, not because he cared about his people only
because he thought the gods had more power than him. To fix that problem, he wanted only one god,
the Aten, to rule universally. Reeves doesn t assume that Akhenaten was changing beliefs for
theological reasons, but it was for the sake of his power. From the start of his reign, it was clear that
Akhenaten was determined to change something, and was willing to share his beliefs in monotheism.
Pharaoh, it is clear, was a man with a mission; of rare intelligence, recognizably well tutored in the
theological minutiae...despite his age, he was certain in his beliefs and determined to share them (91).
There was a text discovered called the Great Hym of Aten and it is a hieroglyphic text discovered in el
Amrna in the tomb of Ay. It was believed to have been written by Akhenaten himself translated by
W.J. Murnane. Reeves points out that the hym was rather a strong emphasis on how one should
portray the nature of reality, and rather weak connection between Aten and the kingdom. He also notes
that the hym as well as many other texts, never emphasize sympathy or kindness to the Egyptian
people, and it only praises Aten and the relationship with Akhenaten. Whom you have taught your
ways and your might...you yourself are lifetime, one lives by you. This is showing us how much
praise Akhenaten is giving to the Aten and how he lived for

  • 2. Stop And Frisk Policies 1. How do you think stop and frisk policies affect the relationship between law enforcement and minorities in America? When thinking in The Police, as responsible for law and order, people often expect respect to the standards and protection. But, when law enforcement goes beyond the boundaries of civil rights and becomes abusive, the relationship between those involved just breaks out. The main problem of the stop and frisk policies does not seem to be its mystique to prevent the crime Is its execution. In that order, the statistics cited by the four newspaper articles provided to the forum, show that the focus of the stops is a stereotype of crime based on racism and discrimination, and not a legal reasonable suspicious . • 4. Cradley And Greg Heffley Comparison Have you ever read a book? Well, most people would answer yes to that question and for me it would definitely be a yes. Unlike most teens my age, I absolutely, positively love to read. But have you ever been reading a book and thought you a had a similarity or two with the character? Most people would also answer yes to this question also, Including me. I have found myself to be like many characters, but none like Greg Heffley. Greg and I have many similarities we were born on the same day, we live in the same state, and we even have the same middle name James. Although those similarities are quite interesting, I have dug deeper into this character, not just looking at the outer earthly appearance but I have considered how he thinks, his personality, and even his actions. This is where the real similarities are in the heart and we are so similar it s a little bit scary. Greg is always loyal never leaving anyone not even his annoying friend rowley. Greg is always brave and never afraid to try something new. Greg is also defiant and even though it may get us in trouble sometimes there is always good in the bad. To begin with, Greg Heffley is the most loyal friend ever imaginable, being a strong friend through the thick and thin, through the ups and downs, no matter what Greg Heffley is always there when you need him. For this reason Greg and I are very much alike, always being a dependable, trustworthy, and most important, loyal no matter what you are going through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Goals Of Social Media How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals, that you should announce them to the people around you? This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information as they post their goals on social media. However, how many times do we actually see them accomplish these goals? New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can do if you really want to achieve them. Why? The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever reason. I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to believe in you, they do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That scares them. How to Deal with Naysayers The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make them believe in you. However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life. The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers. What is it that you owe these people, which is forcing you to prove them right? Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your children and they are not in control of anything in your life. Remaining in a situation where you are unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly. Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals. These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to stop you from making the changes that you want to make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them won t make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that they care about you, just as you are. It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can continue to tell themselves that there is no point in trying to get healthy because if you weren t successful they won t be either. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leaders and producers can learn different lessons from the book. Key Lessons Related to Changes, Innovation, and Leadership The primary target of the show were pre school children from low income families. The book narrates the episodes of the show in the first week of its production to demonstrate how they were related to its objectives. As a way of preparing children to school, the first episodes were sponsored by number two and three and letters E, S and W. The main lesson from this part is that any producer or leader should remain focused on the objective of the task. Besides praising the show, Davis explains the criticism that it received from the public. The critique contributed to the significant changes made in the show. The aim of criticism is to enlighten producers as to the things they should focus on. Failure to act on the critiques may wreck the show. A good leader should be ready to adopt changes. For example, in the 1970s, the management removed the African American Muppet as he portrayed negative stereotype due to numerous detentions and other misbehaviors. Also, in the 2000s, the producers included more female characters in the show. The change was made after complaining on gender inequality among characters in the show. The show also focused on the contemporary issues. For example, in 2005, the program started educating children about healthy eating by introducing fruit and vegetable breakfast. How about so hungry you felt as though you would shrivel up and simply cease to exist? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may almost be able to imagine what life was like in the Jewish ghettos. There were ghettos before the Holocaust, the first being in Venice in the 16th century, there are ghettos today, and there will be ghettos in the future, but the Jewish ghettos of the Holocaust are by far the most prominent. According to Merriam Webster a ghetto is, a part of a city in which members of a particular group or race live usually in poor conditions (ghetto). This paper will focus, however, on what daily life was like in the ghettos, what Jews did or didn t do to prevent their fate, and how Holocaust survivors are doing now. I chose this topic because when Elie and his family were living in the ghetto in the beginning of Night, it seemed as though they had plenty of opportunities to escape that they didn t take. It also seemed much closer to pleasant than I imagined, and I was curious to see if that was completely true. When I started this project I was hoping to find personal survivor stories about what the conditions of the ghettos, how people transitioned into life in them, and what they did to try and keep life as normal as it could be. I was expecting a bounty of examples of indifference because in Night the Jews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early History of America It draws the global attention to the extend and the achievements of America concerning the major issues of development. However, it must be noted that the history of achievement takes its form of complexity that features the details and characters involved in the immediate past, as well as the ones who determined the current status of America. In the process, major issues like slavery, revolution and settlement served as major drawbacks that hampered development within the American boundaries. In the Portrait of America , the collective work done by Oates and Errico (2012) features an important section that avails more information headed I Will Be Heard: William Lloyd Garrison And The Struggle Against Slavery depicting the work of a humbled author Ian Berlin, who focused much on Nat Turner, who was by then considered a revolt following the prevailing conditions of slavery. Further details on antislavery reveal the true character of an abolitionist, Garrison. In addition, the work narrows down to the actions taken by Thomas Jefferson related to antislavery. Garrison s time entailed slavery that stretched to the American south accompanied with denial of rights from the African Americans. Segregation cultivated racism in a quite far reaching extent of observing every nature and behavior of the African Americans. Such actions among others raised a great concern of emancipating the blacks beginning with releasing the children of the slaves. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were already a small population and continued to get smaller. Upon the arrival of Constantine the great the rulings of the Roman empire began to change. The persecutions of Christians came to a halt when Constantine gained a role of higher power in the second Rome, leading to promotion of Christianity spread and the beginning of the new empire of Constantinople. Christians were only a small population found in the Roman empire. Due to the group being a minority they were seen as the scapegoats for all issues in the empire. They were blamed for anything from terrible weather to disease. Persecution of Christians began with blame, from emperor Nero in 64 AD, due to a simple fire in Rome. Due to their small population it was easy to discriminate and persecute them. However, upon Constantine s new rule of the empire the persecution of Christians comes to a halt. Constantines introduction to the Christian faith occurred during a defining battle. Maxentius and Constantine were in battle to gain the title of emperor of the Roman empire. During the battle of Milvian Bridge, God appeared to Constantine and told him if he marched into battle with the sign of God, Chi Rho cross, that he would come out victorious. • 17. Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it. The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary). In this current time period, our planetary temperatures have been far warmer than any record has shown in the past two thousand years. • 23. Evil Vs Secularism The issue of evil is the favorite point on which secularists hang their atheistic argument. The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the other hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is able and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then attempts to work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way: 1. 4. Tree Thoughts Research Paper Tree Thoughts In the early 1950s when I was a tyke of five or six, in my backyard with no sand box or swing set, grew a cherry tree probably planted in the 1930s by our home s first owners. One of its major limbs had been sawed off. In spite of being an amputee, its remaining branches of dark green serrated leaves stretched to five or seven feet higher than the flat roofed garage it stood next to. It produced an ample crop, maybe twenty five quarts, of sour cherries which ripened rapidly in the middle of summer there in Canton, Ohio. Birds liked those red cherries as much as we did. More often than not we picked them before the robins began snacking on them. My mom had grown up on a farm about fifty miles east of Canton and knew how to bake a cherry pie. • 30. J.G. Ballard s Science Fiction Legacy Ballard along with many other new wave science fiction writers believed that science fiction should be taken seriously as a form of literature. In order to fulfill this belief the new wave science fiction writers began experimenting with language and their style of writing, creating cognitive estrangement , indicating a kind of alienation or de familiarization effect that they used to separate postmodern/new wave science fiction from traditional/pulp science fiction. Ballard, amongst many others, is considered one of the forefathers that helped develop the New wave movement to what we know of it today. Ballard was born in Shanghai in 1930, where he spent the first fifteen years of his profound life. At the age of sixteen, Ballard interned at a Japanese camp during World War II and, was deported to England. He attended Cambridge University and obtained his degree in medicine, and a few years later he sold his first story to New Worlds, a renowned science fiction magazine, in 1956. He is the author of numerous novels and short story collections, including Crash, Empire of the Sun and The Atrocity Exhibition. Ballard stepped into the realm of the new wave movement, early in his career with apocalyptic/post apocalyptic novels such as The Burning World (1964), The Crystal World (1966) and many others. • 32. Everyday In The Everyday By Alice Walker Summary The story begins when Mom is waiting in the yard for her oldest daughter, Dee, to return. Mom s yard is an extension of her living room: the dirt floor empties into the small hut without separation. We are told little about Mom s husband; he is simply out of the picture and all of Mama s achievements, including the upbringing of his children, seem to have been made by his own hand. Walker does not establish the absolute geographical environment, but we can assume that Mama s small farm is somewhere in rural Georgia. Mom talks about her youngest daughter, Maggie. Maggie nervously anticipates her older sister, Dee. Maggie feels apprehensive about the emotional stress and anxiety that will come with the arrival of Dee. Mom daydreams of being on the Johnny Carson Show and meeting Dee in front of a sea of white faces. Mom comes out of her reverie to explain the realities of her life. Unlike the thin and light fantasy of herself in the Johnny Carson Show, Mom has the darkest skin and is big boned, wearing a jumpsuit instead of feminine clothing. She points out that her fat keeps her warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Mom does the work of two men on her farm. You can kill a calf and let the meat freeze at nightfall. Maggie hides in the shadows because she does not want to be completely visible. Mom describes her as a lame dog. Mom remembers the fire that burned down her first house. Maggie still has the scars of that fateful night. Mom also remembers that Dee stayed there and saw the house burn with a condescending smile on her face. For Dee, the old house defined them as poor black farmers, the descendants of sharecroppers. Mom remembers how Dee proposed to be different from her rural neighbors with her book intelligence and having her own style. Dee wanted nice things and was determined to get them. • 37. The Protest Song By Charles Albert Tindley The protest song selected for this report was We Shall Overcome (Various Artists, 1945) written by various artists, with lyrics originating from an older activist s hymn. This report will cover the history, purpose, lasting effects, and the value of We Shall Overcome and its predecessor I ll Overcome Someday . We Shall Overcome the protest song has found itself tied to multiple social movements, however, its origin has its roots planted in the civil rights movement. After researching about this song I came across the fact that the lyrics and the style of the song originated from I ll Overcome Some Day , a hymn created by Charles Albert Tindley, An East Coast Methodist Minister, in 1901. Charles Tindley was the son of an African American slave father and free mother. It wasn t until the mid 1940s (ten years after Charles had passed on, leaving behind a lifetime of community work and activism) that we see the first rendition of the modern We Shall Overcome as a protest song by a tobacco and food union group. A few short years later in 1947 this song s title was recognized as We Shall Overcome in an edition of people s songs bulletin , a publication directed by Pete Seeger, who is very well known for his rendition of this song and many others. This song is an anthem, a chant if you will. Its purpose is not to drag attention to a specific event, such as 41 Shots (Springsteen, 2000) where Bruce Springsteen emotionally portrays the events of a fatal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis of Filming Techniques in Spirited Away Spirited Away, titled Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi in Japan, follows a young girl named Chihiro on an adventurous, yet threatening journey into a magical realm after her parents are turned into pigs. She forms relationships with people that will help her find her way back home such as Haku, Zeniba, and Mr. Kamaji. She also encounters those like Yubaba who try to make her time in the realm of spirits difficult. Spirited Away quickly became Japan s highest grossing film of all time. It received many great reviews in every aspect of filmmaking. It won several awards, including A Golden Bear in 2002 at the Berlin International Film Festival, and an Academy Award in 2003 for Best Animated Film. Hayao Miyazaki, the film s writer and director, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miyazaki also introduces to the audience the importance of one s name. From the moment she gets a job from Yubaba the bathhouse owner, Chihiro is bound under a contract that magically changes her name to Sen. If it had not been for a goodbye card from a friend, Chihiro would have forgotten her real name. As for Haku, he has not been able to recall his own name for years. When he does remember later in the film, his eyes are opened and he undergoes emotional and physical changes. Another aspect of Japanese folklore involved in the film highlights passing through spaces which mark a separation between one world and another. Areas like the bridge to the bathhouse, and the tunnel to the abandoned theme park represent this part of Japanese culture. However, the most important cultural aspect included in the film is the original title. When women or children suddenly disappeared and could not be located for a long period of time, it was assumed they had met kamikakushi, as Reider puts it. Once they come back from Kamikakushi, they are believed to be socially resurrected. One could say that in the film Chihiro meets her own Kamikakushi during the time she is away from her parents. As she goes through the tunnel at the beginning of the film, Chihiro is a whiny little girl who does not like change. When she comes out of the tunnel at the end of the film, she is standing tall, fearless, and confident. This post Kamikakushi is one of many examples of character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Did Akhenaten Change Of Religion Akhenaten During the time of the new kingdom a powerful Pharaoh came into power. Akhenaten, also known as Amenophis IV believed that only one god should rule universally, and that god is known as the Aten. Akhenaten was the crucial changer of polytheism. Changing polytheism to monotheism was an enormous impact on society back then and now. But, Nicholas Reeves uses all sorts of evidence and opinions of his, to conclude that Akhenaten changed the religion of Egypt. Historians have asked why Akhenaten changed the religion of Egypt, and many opinions have come into contact. Reeves argues that, even though Akhenaten was the founder a new faith he desperately used the new religion for political uses. In an attempt to reassert the authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reeves interprets the changing of religion for political reasons, and it all started with Hatshepsut. Thutmose III was the sixth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty and was ruling co regent with his aunt Hatshepsut. Akhenaten wanted to restore power in himself, not because he cared about his people only because he thought the gods had more power than him. To fix that problem, he wanted only one god, the Aten, to rule universally. Reeves doesn t assume that Akhenaten was changing beliefs for theological reasons, but it was for the sake of his power. From the start of his reign, it was clear that Akhenaten was determined to change something, and was willing to share his beliefs in monotheism. Pharaoh, it is clear, was a man with a mission; of rare intelligence, recognizably well tutored in the theological minutiae...despite his age, he was certain in his beliefs and determined to share them (91). There was a text discovered called the Great Hym of Aten and it is a hieroglyphic text discovered in el Amrna in the tomb of Ay. It was believed to have been written by Akhenaten himself translated by W.J. Murnane. Reeves points out that the hym was rather a strong emphasis on how one should portray the nature of reality, and rather weak connection between Aten and the kingdom. He also notes that the hym as well as many other texts, never emphasize sympathy or kindness to the Egyptian people, and it only praises Aten and the relationship with Akhenaten. Whom you have taught your ways and your might...you yourself are lifetime, one lives by you. This is showing us how much praise Akhenaten is giving to the Aten and how he lived for ...
