Human Cognition In The Hosts
WestWorld s portrayal of artificial intelligence draws both similarities and differences to true human
cognition. Within the world of the show, Hosts are controlled via a tablet and are programed to attend
to Newcomer s fantasies. While the Newcomers can do whatever they like to the Host, the Hosts
literally cannot hurt the Newcomers. The Hosts operate without knowledge of what they are, aka not
human. However, in many aspects they function similarly to human cognition.
The components of cognition that Humans and Host can in common are all functions that shape how
they interpret the world and the world interprets them. The declarative memory component of Long
Term memory operates very similarly to human memory. The components of a Host s ... Show more

They have no free will, no sense of self preservation, both of which are keystones of humanity. These
Host characteristics come from the strictly controlled nature of their intentions to act. With Humans,
intentions to act are made only briefly before the action occurs, six seconds to be exact (Perilloux,
1/25/17). Whereas with Hosts, actions are built in, such as Hosts inability to harm Newcomers
(WestWorld #1), and specifically formulated to play into storylines written by programmers. This
gives Hosts themselves have no control of their own actions or the intentions behind them. We see
Maeve confronted with this lack of free will when Bernard shows her her own programming, and we
see that every last action that she thought was of her own doing was actually scripted out, down to the
last word (WestWorld #10). In Humans, memory errors can occur through, decay, interference, and
retrieval failure (Perilloux, 3/1/17). Though these errors can happen due to the passage of time or the
weakening of pathway strength, they are not purposeful. However for Host, memory errors are less
errors and more specific erasing in order to reset a storyline. They are a result of deliberate
interference. We see this repeated use of controlled memory errors, or wiping of the Hosts in the
repeated scenes of characters waking up in their beds and starting a new day (WestWorld #1). This
departure from human cognition ties back into the overall difference of a lack of control over their
own actions, and brain

Primary Sources Of Athenian Democracy
Democracy, the form of government in which there is a rule by the people, is said to have originated
and thrived in the classical period of Athens, from 500 350 B.C.. Democracy inherently gave all that
were considered citizens power to participate in politics in theory. That being said, it is highly debated
as to how much power the people, also known as the demos, exercised in this democracy. Many
practices and informal institutions can be said to have limited the power of the demos. The democracy
in Athens can be proven to have been a democracy in theory yet not in practice, as can be proven
through a variety of primary sources recounting Athenian political institutions and practices. Such
primary sources that demonstrate this include Herodotus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Demosthenes a speechwriter, demonstrates this in his speech The Oration Against Eubulides, which
was written for a man named Euxitheos. In the speech, Euxitheos was protecting himself from being
decertified from his deme after a politician named Eubulides accused him of not being a citizen of the
deme. According to the Constitution of Athens that is meant to be in practice, in order to be a
demeseman, the demesmen must vote if a candidate appears to be of age and if the candidate is free
born (of parents that belonged to the deme) (Aristotle 42). If the man is decided to not be a free man,
he must appeal to gain his demeship. If he cannot prove his family s demeship, he is sold into slavery
(42). It can be demonstrated that Eubulides manipulated democratic institutions when Demosthenes
mentions that in Euxitheos case, Eubulides gave people that would follow him two or three ballots
(Demosthenes 170). He proves this by stating, although there were no more than thirty voters, more
that sixty ballots were counted (170). With this evidence, it can be proven that voting was heavily
manipulated, and in this case to benefit the leader, Eubulides, who was not fond of Euxitheos. The
democratic institution of voting is therefore in place, yet, clearly, not being respected, as the leader is
manipulating it strictly for his

Sam Phillips The Man Who Invented Rock N Roll
Guralnick music history texts are well sourced and utilize a variety of different points of primary
sources, perspectives, and recollections. In addition to many printed materials, Guralnick interviews
many of the participants. Guralnick observed in a November 14, 2016, interview at the Country Music
Hall of Fame that his recent biography Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock n Roll, was the
first time he had access to the subject of one his biographies. However, in his genre based works, such

Additionally, this lack of perspective simplifies the artists and the recordings as mere products of
entertainment and leisure whose significance exists no longer than the three and a half minutes the art

placing popular and vernacular music and musicians into the larger historical narrative. Some
examples include Craig Werner s A Change is Gonna Come: Music, Race, and the Soul of America

What Would Happen If Foot Binding In China Had Not Been...
What would have happened if foot binding in China had not been outlawed in 1912? Since perhaps
around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common
practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers
and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular
for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese
culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. During this time when arranged
marriages were very common, the size of girls feet determined how desirable of a bride they would be.
For example, the most desirable foot size for a bride would be three inches, which was often known as
a golden lotus . A four inch silver lotus was respected. Feet that were five inches or longer were
known as iron feet ; marriages for girls with iron feet were much more unlikely. In other words, foot
binding became a symbol of status, even amongst the elite. But, this practice caused many health
concerns. Toe nails would often in grow, which causes infection and injury. Most of the time, blood
circulation to the toes would be cut off. As a result, injuries would be less likely to heal. Girls would
also spend many years with broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men of higher class would be chosen to marry women with golden lotus feet. I believe that foot
binding was the beginning to changing ideologies in the Chinese population. If foot binding had not
been banned, perhaps many Chinese customs would be still in effect today. Arranged marriages would
continue to be a lot more common, or even a law or something that all men and women had to obey to.
Women and men would not be allowed to marry the one they love. Young girls would continue to
endure the pain and injuries resulting from this cruel

Because Dell waited until they received the order from the customer to start building the computer,
Dell kept the CCC (cash conversion cycle to a minimum). If Dell were to operate at Compaq s DSI
level, we estimate that Dell would have to increase its 1995 inventory from $293m to $668m, which is
an increase of $375 million. This would mean that Dell would have needed to invest in $668 million
in inventory. I believe that the main reason that Dell was able to maintain such a low level of
inventory compared to their competition has a direct result of their competitive strategy to maintain a
minimum level of inventory.
From Dells perspective, there is a competitive advantage to maintaining a low level of inventory in
case of a technology change. Because they have less WIP and FG inventory, Dell is better positioned
to take advantage of quickly changing technology (processors, for example). If technology were to
reduce 30% of the inventory value, Dell would be better off with a lower quantity of inventory which
has to be written down. If the inventory were based on Compaq s DSI number ($668m in inventory),
then the write off would need to be $112 more. (30% of $668 $293). On the other hand, there are some
disadvantages to having a low level of inventory on hand, as was shown by Dell in 1996 when they
indicated that sales could have been higher if they would have had additional inventory in stock.

The Genetic Pathogenesis Of Migraine
Genetics has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of migraine. The studies in the field
of migraine has advanced tremendously in the last two decades resulting in the development of the
existing knowledge about genetic inheritance of this debilitating disease. However, there is a need to
expand this knowledge in the areas of treatment. Approximately 70% of patients with migraine
reported to have a first degree relative who is also suffering from migraine. The relatives of migraine
patients with aura has a four times increased risk of developing migraine (Medscape). The studies
conducted among the twins and families of migraine patients have shown that migraine with aura

The hemiplegia associated with FHM typically resolves. It is also accompanied with cerebellar ataxia
that is related to the 19p locus. So far three genes are recognized as causing FHM. The type I FHM is
caused by mutations in theCACNA1A gene located on 19p13. FHM type 2 is linked to mutations in
the ATP1A2 gene and the type 3 is attributed to the mutations in the SCN1A gene. Migraine is also
associated with other inherited disorders such as mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic
acidosis, and stroke like episodes (MELAS) as well as cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with
subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL). Migraine is also a common clinical
manifestation of various genetic vasculopathies such as retinal vasculopathy with cerebral
leukodystrophy (RVCL) and hereditary infantile hemiparesis, retinal arteriolar tortuosity, and
leukoencephalopathy (HIHRATL). These two vasculopathies are autosomal dominant disorders.

How To Overcome Influenza In 1918
Influenza is the most common disease that is called the flu. What caused the flu to start? What
happens when you get the flu? The flu is common to other diseases, too. People also get the flu mixed
with other diseases because of the symptoms. Symptoms are a big thing that people want to look for if
that person has the flu. So many names for just one disease. Why can t there just be one? The Spanish
flu is one of them which appeared in the European country in 1918. The flu spread far and wide
because of the troops in World War 1. World War 1 made its own pandemic. On a large scale, war
provided a great place for a disease. With weakened immune systems, short on food, traveling, and
wounded people are a big problem. On a regular basis, when a new strain develops, its homeland is
East Asia. And some think that domestic or wild ducks in Asia may also be incubators for new strains
of the disease. The great flu pandemic of 1918 killed millions of people around the world. 40% of the
people got killed because of the flu. Once in forever, influenza is just a secondary infection, but now it

The Lack Of Promotion For College Students Essay
Consequence
Due to the lack of promotion to college students (especially international students), Athens Farmers
Market (AFM) seems to ignore a large potential market of students. This problem not only indicates a
potential market that AFM missed and ignored, it also brings other possible consequences if AFM
keeps doing so. For example, in most cases, consumers tend to purchase at the same grocery store,
which can be categorized as brand loyalty. However, college students in Athens are more likely to
purchase at AFM s competitors (Walmart, Kroger) due to AFM s fewer opening hours and distance.
But Deighton et al. (1994) indicates that advertising can have effective influences on brand switching,
which would apply to AFM as students start to purchase products at AFM instead of Walmart
repeatedly. Further, Walmart (or Kroger) as one of the largest supermarkets in the retail industry can
compete and restrict the customer base of AFM. Thus, advertising to students, a major group of
potential consumers in Athens, would help AFM s development in several aspects including customer
base, reputation, and profitability.
Third Criteria: Advertising Effectiveness
Cost and convenience are indeed important to comparison and evaluation different methods used for
AFM s advertisements to student. But effectiveness (the effect measured or expected from different
advertising methods used) can also be crucial to decision making on advertising strategies of AFM.
Based on the potential

Route 66 Analysis
Erttttt. As I slammed on brakes in theupcoming chaotic traffic. Maybe I should get off on the next exit
and take the back roads. As in back roads I mean good ole Route 66. Exit up ahead. Ah sweet ole
Route 66. As many people think that the Interstate is an easy quick way to get from where they was to
where they need to be at; others may think it is terrible and drains their time so they take other
highways. If you are like some out of many you want something calm and collective; not busy and
chaotic. Many people think that they should go 80 to 90 miles per hour when they should only be
going 70 miles per hour or lower which to me seems like it would reduce many of the outraging
wrecks we have today. There has been an astounding 50,765 wrecks and counting that has happened
on the interstate many may have lost their lives, many may have been in critical condition, and few
have survived in all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Galena s haunted Bordello, Marsh rainbow arch bridge, Baxter Springs, and so many other astonishing
attractions. It is not always about what you see when you are driving it about making memories with
the people that you are with while you are driving. For example you could be with friends, family, or
even college room mates going on a road trip to some where you could take Route 66 to get to where

Why I Want To Go Back To College
College can be scary and intimidating. I have said that many times. Therefore, a lot of people rely on
friends and people from their high school when they arrive to college because this is comfortable to
them. They are familiar with these people, and it is easy to talk to them and be around them. A lot of
people are scared to be on their own or talk to new people. A lot of people are absolutely terrified of
change. Independency is intimidating and so is branching out to new people. However, if you re
looking for a chance to change and start something new, freshman year is the time and the place.
Everything is new, and going into it entirely single and on my own allowed for so much freedom in
my life. I wasn t focused on someone else and was able to do things for myself. I was entirely focused
on who I wanted to be, which lead to showing me who I wanted to be around and what I look for in
another person. I now know the kind of person I see myself with in the future. I feel very confident
however that I would not have been able to dedicate so much time to myself and learn these things ...

The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America
College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be
successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues.
College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to pay
their tuitions and spend extra time in college for total of six through seven years instead of four years
to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay over
$30,000 of debt after attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially young adults
to get accept to an excellent college but unable to afford it.
This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. The people
who has the potential to do good for the country. One of them can even be our president one day and
help aid America. Everyone deserve an opportunity to become successful however it cost a lot of
money and it hold many people back to do so. In the article When Colleges Dangle Money to Lure
Students Who Ignored Them Ron Lieber talk about students get accepted into colleges and unable to
afford it unless college tuitions are low cost. Lieber is only speaking about a liberal arts program
which made a lot of student overwhelm by the cost of tuition. I could not imagine what will law or

The Functions Of Language In A Clockwork Orange By Anthony...
The functions of language in the novel A Clockwork Orange and how those functions are achieved in
the film.
The argot in the novella A Clockwork Orange has many functions. Anthony Burgess uses the Nadsat
to alienate the reader, veil the violence and occasionally draw the reader into the action. Although
Burgess uses language to achieve these functions, Stanley Kubrick uses various cinematic techniques
to achieve these functions in the film. This will be further substantiated in the essay.
Anthony Burgess makes use of a fictional register in the novella A Clockwork Orange. In the words of
Dr Branom, Nadsat is described as Odd bits of rhyming slang, a bit of gypsy talk, too. But most of the

The other section of the commentary report is the commentary of the scores which are collected in this
book. The commentary is arranged in a really standard form, and the comments on performance are
quite helpful to the performers. For instance, the commentary of Sonanta in B flat Major for Flute and
Basso Continu, Wq,125 is located from the page one hundred and thirty six to page one hundred and
thirty seven. In the commentary, it mainly shows the measure numbers, part of the voice, and remarks.
For Measure number, it used the number to mark each specific measure. In the part of the voice, fl
means the voice of the flute, and b.c. means the voice of the basso continuo. In the section of remarks,
it contains very detailed comments on the performance. Even it points out the version that it follows.
As I have tried out all the comments on this piece, I found that the changes make music sound more
interesting and artistic. For instance, the Sonata in B flat major for flute and Basso continuous second
movement Allegro. In the third measure, it suggests the note 2 changed from F to A. After this
changing, the melody of flute sounds more interesting. In the measure six, it suggests moving the slur
from notes 3 4 for notes 2 4. That lets the melody skip a minor third and sounds more stable in the
beginning section than the original one. In the measure twenty seven,

Suspenseful Themes In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins
There are books about mighty and brave people that do daring things. There are also books about
intelligent people who do incredible things. The Science Fiction trilogy, The Hunger Games, by
Suzanne Collins, combines these themes to create a suspenseful book that is not only interesting, but
is fun to read. This book contains many moments where the main character, Katniss Everdeen, showed
immense bravery and intelligence. One of the bravest things Katniss did came during the start of the
book in chapter 2. The annual reaping is a time of sorrow and apprehensiveness. Two children
between the age of 12 18, one male, one female, will be selected to enter the annual hunger games.

Racial Bias in the United States due to Mass Media Essay
The United States of America has been called a mixing pot since the birth of the nation. Everyone,
especially politicians and educators, will proudly declare that the U.S. is a land of unmatched
diversity. The U.S. seems to always be portrayed as a highly cultural territory, harboring a vast
population of many races. Admittedly, the United States has come a long in terms of eliminating racial
barriers and pursuing equality. All around the world, America is seen as a country of colors, yet mass
media does not recognize that fact. Racial bias is a prevalent trend in today s media, and white people
are favored in comparison to any other race. Seemingly every aspect of mass media is soaked in bias.
Oftentimes, this leaves out minorities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Merriam Webster fully defines racism as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits
and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race . In his
article, Balkaran points out that racial discourse can be inferred to be aversive, academic, scientific,
legalistic, bureaucratic, economic, cultural, linguistic, religion, mythical, or ideological. He states that
racial discourse and expressions have been prevalent towards African Americans. Race matters exist
in different places and at different times under widely varying conditions, he writes. This pushes into
the understanding of racism in the history of the United States. Society has been significantly
revolutionized since the beginnings of the United States. The very history of the country has been
cursed with racism and the harsh oppression of minorities. In fact, America s power and economy
were founded on a Marxist theory of a two class system. On the top of that system were the slave
owners, and at the very bottom were the slaves themselves (Balkaran, 1999). Slavery and segregation
used to be huge components in the lives of Americans. During those times, Americans were white,
landowning men; obviously that principle has been altered a great deal. People of color, women, and
the poor actually have been given suffrage by amendments in the Constitution. Although the United

Comparing Mesopotamia And The Indus River Valley Civilization
Mesopotamia and the Indus River Valley Civilization were two uniform civilizations. These two
civilizations shared many similarities and few differences in the social and political aspect of these
two societies. First of all, Mesopotamia seemed to neglect the religious and political side, because
they focused more on their social characteristics. And because Mesopotamia focused more on social
characteristics they had very organized caste systems. The Indus River Valley concentrated their
attention on religious beliefs and social characteristics. All in all, both of these civilizations had many
similar characteristics and a couple of dissimilar social and political characteristics.
Both of these civilizations had a similar government system, they both had a monarchy government.

Although both civilizations have very organized caste systems, Mesopotamia has the most detailed

commoners, merchants and artisans, after that were the scribes, the priests, and last but not least at the
top of the hierarchy is the king. The king had the post power and influence on others; people thought
very highly of him. The king was frequently the monarch and the high priest. If the god/gods did not
provide for welfare of the citizens, the people often held the king responsible, and deposed him. The
kings that ruled the city states only ruled in their cities and the hinterland that immediately surrounded
the city. The residents in these cities might identify themselves as citizens of their neighborhood or

The History of Metallica Essay
The History of Metallica
As the nineteen seventies came to a close so did many of the musical styles of that decade. While
some faced what seemed to be extinction others went through a sort of evolutionary process. The
bands that were at the top of the heavy metal ladder during this time were such acts as Motorhead,
Iron Maiden, and Tygers of Pan Tang. These groups would be just some of what the new crop of
heavy metal bands would consider inspirational. This style, which is typically referred to as The New
Wave of British Heavy Metal, would fuel and empower many acts to stardom. (Marshall 3) At around
this time, almost halfway across the world, Lars Ulrich got his first drum set in his home in
Copenhagen, Denmark. He was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After graduation James moved back to Downey and was offered a place to live by his friend Ron
McGovney. Ron s mother owned several houses, and the vacant one James would be moving into was
doubled as a rehearsal space since Ron was learning how to play the bass guitar. (Doughton 15 16) As
nineteen eighty one rolled around both James and Lars were looking for musicians that shared the
same taste in music they each had. Lars decided to place an advertisement in a South California paper
called The Recycler. The only other ad that came close was James and so the two decided to meet.
Their first practice together was anything but smooth, considering the fact that Lars was still learning
and could not even keep his drum set upright. (Krgin 51) Even though Lars was clearly unprepared to
make a career out of music he had made some connections. He befriended a man named Brian Slagel,
who was in the process of forming his own record company named Metal Blade Records. Brian was in
the middle of doing a compilation project where his goal was to expose up and coming bands to the
general public. He pretty much guaranteed Lars a spot on his project if Lars could form a band. Lars
got the information back to James and so they decided to give it a try. James, Lars, Ron, and a friend,
guitarist Lloyd Grant went into a recording studio and recorded what would be Metallica s first song,
Hit The Lights. Slagel was clearly impressed and did not hesitate to place

Compare And Contrast Egoism And Utilitarianism
Egoism is based on self interest and helping other people if it is in a personal interest whereas,
Utilitarianism is based on producing the most happiness. Both sides would say that the school districts
that unenrolled kids with poor academic scores did the right thing, but for different reasons.
Egoism (self interest) would view it as the right choice because it makes all the people involved look
better and helps the district, well that was the case until they got caught. The people with Egoism
belief have no moral obligation to others unless it is in a self interest. When the people un enrolled the
kids it made that person look better as well as their coworkers and other people working in the district.

Utilitarianism holds no regard to God and no regard to absolute moral rules, they just want to make
people happy. They believe in doing the thing that causes the most happiness and brings the most
pleasure. There no such things as good and bad, just pleasures and harms. They will view un enrolling
the kids as the right thing to do because it brings more pleasures than harms. The pleasures would be:
more funding, keeping accreditation, looking better as a district, higher overall test scores, higher
district ranking, and possibly attracting more parents to the district. The harms would be: taking from
people who have earned it, lying, along with getting caught and being in trouble. Although the people
lied, Utilitarianism justifies what the school officials did because they believe that what you do not
know cannot hurt you. If they would have never been caught no one would have ever known, so no
harm would be done. Utilitarianism also allows promises to be broke, so any promises or oaths a
person may have taken when accepting their position, they are allowed to break and un enroll the
students because it will result in more happiness for

What Role Does Brutus In The Play Julius Caesar
In Act II, scene 1 of Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar, Brutus enters into his orchard very early in the
morning and requests his servant, Lucius to light his taper or candle in his study. As interpreted,
Brutus fails to sleep soundly because of his conflicting situation of having to abandon and ultimately
take the life of his best friend, Caesar the upcoming king to be crowned at the Capitol. In Brutus

being crowned king of Rome. Brutus believes that Caesar, who does not qualify and meet the
requirements of being an adequate leader of Rome must be stopped and killed before he inflicts any

Zumwalt Class Survivors Research Paper
In the world of military matters, the United States is on the forefront of military technology, tactics,
and personnel, especially with the recently commissioned Zumwalt Class Destroyers. Recently within
the U.S. Navy specifically, there have been many upgrades and changes, mainly due to the need for
upgrades within the many different areas of the fleet. With the newly designed Zumwalt class
currently being built by General Dynamics by Bath Iron Works, the Navy has done just that. The
Zumwalt Class Destroyers received their naming after the former US Navy Chief of Naval Operations,
Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr, who served in the position from 1970 1974. Two of the ships are
currently being built and one, the USS Zumwalt DDG 1000, already beginning its sea trials. The
original plan was to build thirty two of these priced vessels back when the planning originally stated,
each with a price of $3.3 billion. Subsequently thought, over time price for each ship increase to more
than $9 billion, so the program was cut down to only three in 2009. These three ships will be the
largest ships ever built. Each ship comes out to be 610 ft. in length and over 15,000 tons when

The Four Major Components Of Carbohydrates
All living substance is made up of tiny microscopic particles called atoms. When two atoms conjoin
and act as a working functioning group, that is called a molecule. There are four major elements of life
that an atom can be made of, and those special elements are; carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen. All
mushed together their first letters form the scientific term C H O N. Different atoms make up different
molecules for example, a water molecule is made up of an oxygen atom and a hydrogen atom.
Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, and Nucleic Acids are the four major molecules. These major four
can be found in all sorts of foods and mostly all living things. The first major molecule is the
carbohydrates, more commonly referred to as carbs. A single carbohydrate is made up of the elements
carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. This includes the elements C H O prior to the main elements C H O
N. The main building blocks for a carbohydrate molecule consists of sugars (Saccharides).
The three Saccharides that make up carbohydrates are; Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, and
Polysaccharides. These wondrous molecules can benefit us as humans in great ways. Carbohydrates
are one of the best sources of natural energy you can consume. For example, all plants use the sun s
energy to convert CO2 into carbohydrates. These powerful molecules also provide structural support
for cells, and can help out with the communication between two different cells. Carbohydrates can be
found almost in all foods,

Greg In Scripture
Greg then launches into the topic of prayer, he says, The Pharisees were caught up in repeating
ritualized prayers over and over again. They seemed to believe that the longer the prayer, the more
spiritual and pleasing to God. But God isn t interested in eloquence. Not at all. Prayer should come
from the heart. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether they rhyme, or
whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is concerned with how
genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a man who said, God, be
merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That is a man who was honest
with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the Lord. And guess what? Jesus
Himself said that man s prayer was heard. Greg then goes on to use the Lord s prayer as a guide to

Osmosis in Potatoes
AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes
Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable membrane, in this case
potato.
Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane, separating
solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a region of high concentration to a region
of low concentration, until the two concentrations are equal in concentrations of water.
Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the
transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots
in plants.

Method After having done our preliminary work, we knew exactly which measurements we needed to
use in order to obtain the correct sort of results. We set up 14 test tubes, because in order to save time,
we intended on doing repeats at the same time as the original experiments were going on.
For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them individually to avoid
confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of Glucose solution, and added one of the
potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram, and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as
much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t
have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured
and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If we had of left excess water on the chips,
the weights would not be accurate. We then measured the chips in mms because they are a more

A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner
I saw the play A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner on the 1st of November. I can say for sure
that plays are always different and this play was completely different from the one we watched a
couple weeks ago Rent . This play is serious in its content , it is a specific historical play, which took
place in Germany, more exactly Berlin, in the 1930s. The story is about five good friends during the
time of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, the time before World War II. The story surrounded
the main character Agnes, who just loves her home and lives on her own and she thinks that
everything will be alright as long as she stays away from negative influences. Representational and
presentational acting can be seen in this play and helps us understand the character more. The
characters acting I want to focus on is Vealtinc Husz, the lover of Agnes played by Chase Byrd. He is
a one eyed Hungarian director of movies, who moved to Berlin to became a part of the communist
revolution party and ended up meeting the love of his life, Agnes. The main idea of his work, what he
was interested in, was to promote propaganda art and also to develop some promotional ideas and
changes in the communist community. Husz s problem (and maybe not the best side of his character)is
that he talks more rather taking action. One type of acting shown by the character of Husz is
representational. This type of acting is playing from the inside. Husz is a person who doesn t know a

Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human...
Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private sphere
is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from
the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden
agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend
to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these
issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes
a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture,
lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve
McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He
returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda
was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society.
Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s
futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan
woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the
American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden

The Insanity Defense And The Defense
The insanity defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859 after he
had killed his wife s lover, Philip Barton Key. The insanity defense asserts that a criminal defendant
should not be found guilty due to the defendant s insanity, but insanity in this context refers to a very
specific dysfunction. The theory behind the defense is that a person who is insane lacks the intent
required to perform a criminal act because the person either does not know that the act is wrong or
cannot control his or her actions even when the person understands that the act is wrong. The insanity
defense can in three ways: the insanity plea is rejected, the defendant is convicted as guilty but

Shumey was tried for murder in the second degree, and his trial cost the county of San Luis Obispo
seventy thousand dollars. Psychiatric fees alone cost the defendant seventy thousand two hundred
dollars, which a quarter of the total price of the entire trial on his side (Feuerstein). However, this does
not account for fees the plaintiff had to pay to ensure a fair evaluation of the defendant. In addition,
this example is only an example of a mid ranged price of psychiatric fees. Multiple trials have
exceeded Shumey s in psychiatric fees including the Crockwell case which accumulated just under
twenty thousand dollars and the Brandon Woody case which accumulated over thirty one thousand
dollars (Pemberton). The insanity defense accumulates an absurd amount of money towards the cost
of the trial for such a diminutive chance of success.
To go along with such a drastic increase in trial costs, the insanity defense only accounts for a
minuscule number of trials while having an even lower success rate. While the rates may vary from
state to state, on average less than one defendant in every one hundred actually raises the insanity
defense. Within the small percentage that the defense is raised, the chance of the defense actually
succeeding is even tinier. In 2005, the National Institute of Mental Health conducted an eight state

The Short Term Mission Trips
Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and every
day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible because of
that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not
really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need
and went, since then short term mission trips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the popularity
of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way the trips are led to the
extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the amount of money and time that
they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and
improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships
that are acquired during the short term mission trips.
In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American countries.
Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and the hurricane left

Light has 10000 times wider bandwidth than radio frequency so the capacity of data transfer will be
better than that of Wi Fi.
Instead of using radio wave, Li Fi uses visible light for communication.
Data transmission through Li Fi is very cheap as LED uses very less amount of energy.
Security of a Li Fi network is much better because the light cannot penetrate the walls so no one can
misuse the network.
The shortage issue of radio frequency bandwidth may be solved by using Li Fi.
Using Li Fi each street lamp can be used as a free data access point.
Underwater Wi Fi does not work at all, here Li Fi can be used for data transmission
5. Disadvantages of Li Fi
Although there are lot of advantages of Li Fi there are many challenges that we have to face and
overcome.
The main problem with Li Fi is how the receiver will transfer the data back to the transmitter.

Chaparral plants are able to regrow very quickly and encroach over the area of the flowers. This is
necessary for the stability of that environment and ensures future success. The flowers from the
flowers are trapped in the soil and are released next time there is a fire. This entire process is called
secondary succession. The Southern California Chaparral is in itself threatened. Fires, overgrazing,
and invasive species have disrupted it over the course of many years and it is now in danger.
According to the WWF, the Southern California Chaparral one of the most endangered ecosystems in
North America (California Chaparral and Woodlands). The Chaparral are often close to residential and
commercial areas and this can be detrimental. Runoff from the residential areas can contaminate the
soil and stop primary production. More land is also revamped and turned into more human
expanses. The land is often treated very poorly and the habitat of many animals are destroyed.
Unfortunately when fires occur, the brush is able to grow back, but the wildlife is adversely
affected.Because of fires and human intervention, there are a few endangered plants and animals.
Some endangered animals include the California Gnatcatcher and Heermann Kangaroo mouse. In
addition, there are a lot of flora that are very rare and only exist in this area. The Gnatcatcher s habitat

Naturalism in art refers to the depiction of realistic objects in a natural setting. The Realism
movements of the 19th century advocated naturalism in reaction to the stylized and idealized
depictions of subjects in Romanticism, but many painters have adopted a similar approach over the
centuries. One example of Naturalism is the artwork of American artist William Bliss Baker, whose
landscape paintings are considered some of the best examples of the naturalist movement. Idealism is
the attitude that places special value on ideas and ideals as products of the mind, in comparison with

By an unknown artist, the sculpture is thought to date from the period 220 BC 190 BC (though some
scholars date it as early as 250 BC or as late as 180 BC). Her drapery serves to dramatically
emphasize both her dynamic forward movement against the wind and her full, robust form her
powerful thighs and the active, contracted muscles of her torso. The drapery clings with thin, long,
and uneven ripples to her breasts, abdomen, right leg, and left thigh, its near transparency revealing
these parts of the body almost as if they were nude. Excess fabric forms heavy yet dynamically
irregular shapes and bunches. A long, uneven arc of cloth between her legs accentuates their motion
and implies the counter force of the wind against her body. The sculptor draws attention to this
downward arc with a swath of drapery that flies forward from the left hip and collides in a V shape
with the longer swath at the Nike s pelvis. At the same time, in the back of the statue fabric soars out
behind the figure in rigid crests. The effect of this drapery is choppy and uneven, the wind whipping
the cloth as it does sea below into irregular peaks and troughs. A partial inscription on the base of the
statue includes the word Rhodhios (Rhodes), indicating that the statue was commissioned to celebrate

  • 3. Human Cognition In The Hosts WestWorld s portrayal of artificial intelligence draws both similarities and differences to true human cognition. Within the world of the show, Hosts are controlled via a tablet and are programed to attend to Newcomer s fantasies. While the Newcomers can do whatever they like to the Host, the Hosts literally cannot hurt the Newcomers. The Hosts operate without knowledge of what they are, aka not human. However, in many aspects they function similarly to human cognition. The components of cognition that Humans and Host can in common are all functions that shape how they interpret the world and the world interprets them. The declarative memory component of Long Term memory operates very similarly to human memory. The components of a Host s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have no free will, no sense of self preservation, both of which are keystones of humanity. These Host characteristics come from the strictly controlled nature of their intentions to act. With Humans, intentions to act are made only briefly before the action occurs, six seconds to be exact (Perilloux, 1/25/17). Whereas with Hosts, actions are built in, such as Hosts inability to harm Newcomers (WestWorld #1), and specifically formulated to play into storylines written by programmers. This gives Hosts themselves have no control of their own actions or the intentions behind them. We see Maeve confronted with this lack of free will when Bernard shows her her own programming, and we see that every last action that she thought was of her own doing was actually scripted out, down to the last word (WestWorld #10). In Humans, memory errors can occur through, decay, interference, and retrieval failure (Perilloux, 3/1/17). Though these errors can happen due to the passage of time or the weakening of pathway strength, they are not purposeful. However for Host, memory errors are less errors and more specific erasing in order to reset a storyline. They are a result of deliberate interference. We see this repeated use of controlled memory errors, or wiping of the Hosts in the repeated scenes of characters waking up in their beds and starting a new day (WestWorld #1). This departure from human cognition ties back into the overall difference of a lack of control over their own actions, and brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Primary Sources Of Athenian Democracy Democracy, the form of government in which there is a rule by the people, is said to have originated and thrived in the classical period of Athens, from 500 350 B.C.. Democracy inherently gave all that were considered citizens power to participate in politics in theory. That being said, it is highly debated as to how much power the people, also known as the demos, exercised in this democracy. Many practices and informal institutions can be said to have limited the power of the demos. The democracy in Athens can be proven to have been a democracy in theory yet not in practice, as can be proven through a variety of primary sources recounting Athenian political institutions and practices. Such primary sources that demonstrate this include Herodotus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Demosthenes a speechwriter, demonstrates this in his speech The Oration Against Eubulides, which was written for a man named Euxitheos. In the speech, Euxitheos was protecting himself from being decertified from his deme after a politician named Eubulides accused him of not being a citizen of the deme. According to the Constitution of Athens that is meant to be in practice, in order to be a demeseman, the demesmen must vote if a candidate appears to be of age and if the candidate is free born (of parents that belonged to the deme) (Aristotle 42). If the man is decided to not be a free man, he must appeal to gain his demeship. If he cannot prove his family s demeship, he is sold into slavery (42). It can be demonstrated that Eubulides manipulated democratic institutions when Demosthenes mentions that in Euxitheos case, Eubulides gave people that would follow him two or three ballots (Demosthenes 170). He proves this by stating, although there were no more than thirty voters, more that sixty ballots were counted (170). With this evidence, it can be proven that voting was heavily manipulated, and in this case to benefit the leader, Eubulides, who was not fond of Euxitheos. The democratic institution of voting is therefore in place, yet, clearly, not being respected, as the leader is manipulating it strictly for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sam Phillips The Man Who Invented Rock N Roll Guralnick music history texts are well sourced and utilize a variety of different points of primary sources, perspectives, and recollections. In addition to many printed materials, Guralnick interviews many of the participants. Guralnick observed in a November 14, 2016, interview at the Country Music Hall of Fame that his recent biography Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock n Roll, was the first time he had access to the subject of one his biographies. However, in his genre based works, such as Sweet Soul Music, he did have the opportunity to spend time with and interview several of the musicians and business people who played major roles in the progress of the music and culture over time. However, he additionally noted that oral histories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several books, including Gualnick s Sweet Soul Music, succeed in placing popular and vernacular music and musicians into the larger historical narrative. • 6. What Would Happen If Foot Binding In China Had Not Been... What would have happened if foot binding in China had not been outlawed in 1912? Since perhaps around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. During this time when arranged marriages were very common, the size of girls feet determined how desirable of a bride they would be. For example, the most desirable foot size for a bride would be three inches, which was often known as a golden lotus . A four inch silver lotus was respected. Feet that were five inches or longer were known as iron feet ; marriages for girls with iron feet were much more unlikely. In other words, foot binding became a symbol of status, even amongst the elite. But, this practice caused many health concerns. Toe nails would often in grow, which causes infection and injury. Most of the time, blood circulation to the toes would be cut off. As a result, injuries would be less likely to heal. Girls would also spend many years with broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men of higher class would be chosen to marry women with golden lotus feet. I believe that foot binding was the beginning to changing ideologies in the Chinese population. If foot binding had not been banned, perhaps many Chinese customs would be still in effect today. Arranged marriages would continue to be a lot more common, or even a law or something that all men and women had to obey to. Women and men would not be allowed to marry the one they love. Young girls would continue to endure the pain and injuries resulting from this cruel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Dell waited until they received the order from the customer to start building the computer, Dell kept the CCC (cash conversion cycle to a minimum). If Dell were to operate at Compaq s DSI level, we estimate that Dell would have to increase its 1995 inventory from $293m to $668m, which is an increase of $375 million. This would mean that Dell would have needed to invest in $668 million in inventory. I believe that the main reason that Dell was able to maintain such a low level of inventory compared to their competition has a direct result of their competitive strategy to maintain a minimum level of inventory. From Dells perspective, there is a competitive advantage to maintaining a low level of inventory in case of a technology change. Because they have less WIP and FG inventory, Dell is better positioned to take advantage of quickly changing technology (processors, for example). If technology were to reduce 30% of the inventory value, Dell would be better off with a lower quantity of inventory which has to be written down. If the inventory were based on Compaq s DSI number ($668m in inventory), then the write off would need to be $112 more. (30% of $668 $293). On the other hand, there are some disadvantages to having a low level of inventory on hand, as was shown by Dell in 1996 when they indicated that sales could have been higher if they would have had additional inventory in stock. • 11. The Lack Of Promotion For College Students Essay Consequence Due to the lack of promotion to college students (especially international students), Athens Farmers Market (AFM) seems to ignore a large potential market of students. This problem not only indicates a potential market that AFM missed and ignored, it also brings other possible consequences if AFM keeps doing so. For example, in most cases, consumers tend to purchase at the same grocery store, which can be categorized as brand loyalty. However, college students in Athens are more likely to purchase at AFM s competitors (Walmart, Kroger) due to AFM s fewer opening hours and distance. But Deighton et al. (1994) indicates that advertising can have effective influences on brand switching, which would apply to AFM as students start to purchase products at AFM instead of Walmart repeatedly. Further, Walmart (or Kroger) as one of the largest supermarkets in the retail industry can compete and restrict the customer base of AFM. Thus, advertising to students, a major group of potential consumers in Athens, would help AFM s development in several aspects including customer base, reputation, and profitability. Third Criteria: Advertising Effectiveness Cost and convenience are indeed important to comparison and evaluation different methods used for AFM s advertisements to student. But effectiveness (the effect measured or expected from different advertising methods used) can also be crucial to decision making on advertising strategies of AFM. Based on the potential ... When two atoms conjoin and act as a working functioning group, that is called a molecule. There are four major elements of life that an atom can be made of, and those special elements are; carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen. All mushed together their first letters form the scientific term C H O N. Different atoms make up different molecules for example, a water molecule is made up of an oxygen atom and a hydrogen atom. Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, and Nucleic Acids are the four major molecules. These major four can be found in all sorts of foods and mostly all living things. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether they rhyme, or whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is concerned with how genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a man who said, God, be merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That is a man who was honest with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the Lord. And guess what? Jesus Himself said that man s prayer was heard. Greg then goes on to use the Lord s prayer as a guide to show us how to pray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He ends his book with a chapter on knowing God, in a one on one relationship. Finally Greg closes with a section on salvation. And what better a way to close a book on discipleship then with salvation? Now lets get down to my opinion on the class. I must say I have been surprised by what passes as a class on spiritual formation and transformation. Which is not to say that I don t agree with some things about the class, but all in all I m very disappointed. When we first started this class I had had hopes that it was going to be refreshing and full of sound ideas. By week 4 or 5 I had abandoned all hope of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Osmosis in Potatoes AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable membrane, in this case potato. Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane, separating solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration, until the two concentrations are equal in concentrations of water. Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots in plants. If a cell is in contact with a solution of lower water concentration than its own contents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Graph 2 shows the average change in length. Basically, the pattern is the same as average weight loss in graph 1. It shows how osmosis is affected by different concentrations. Method After having done our preliminary work, we knew exactly which measurements we needed to use in order to obtain the correct sort of results. We set up 14 test tubes, because in order to save time, we intended on doing repeats at the same time as the original experiments were going on. For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them individually to avoid confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of Glucose solution, and added one of the potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram, and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If we had of left excess water on the chips, the weights would not be accurate. We then measured the chips in mms because they are a more accurate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner I saw the play A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner on the 1st of November. I can say for sure that plays are always different and this play was completely different from the one we watched a couple weeks ago Rent . This play is serious in its content , it is a specific historical play, which took place in Germany, more exactly Berlin, in the 1930s. The story is about five good friends during the time of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, the time before World War II. The story surrounded the main character Agnes, who just loves her home and lives on her own and she thinks that everything will be alright as long as she stays away from negative influences. Representational and presentational acting can be seen in this play and helps us understand the character more. The characters acting I want to focus on is Vealtinc Husz, the lover of Agnes played by Chase Byrd. He is a one eyed Hungarian director of movies, who moved to Berlin to became a part of the communist revolution party and ended up meeting the love of his life, Agnes. The main idea of his work, what he was interested in, was to promote propaganda art and also to develop some promotional ideas and changes in the communist community. Husz s problem (and maybe not the best side of his character)is that he talks more rather taking action. One type of acting shown by the character of Husz is representational. This type of acting is playing from the inside. Husz is a person who doesn t know a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The private sphere is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society. Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden agenda ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Insanity Defense And The Defense The insanity defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859 after he had killed his wife s lover, Philip Barton Key. The insanity defense asserts that a criminal defendant should not be found guilty due to the defendant s insanity, but insanity in this context refers to a very specific dysfunction. The theory behind the defense is that a person who is insane lacks the intent required to perform a criminal act because the person either does not know that the act is wrong or cannot control his or her actions even when the person understands that the act is wrong. The insanity defense can in three ways: the insanity plea is rejected, the defendant is convicted as guilty but mentally insane, or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shumey was tried for murder in the second degree, and his trial cost the county of San Luis Obispo seventy thousand dollars. Psychiatric fees alone cost the defendant seventy thousand two hundred dollars, which a quarter of the total price of the entire trial on his side (Feuerstein). However, this does not account for fees the plaintiff had to pay to ensure a fair evaluation of the defendant. In addition, this example is only an example of a mid ranged price of psychiatric fees. Multiple trials have exceeded Shumey s in psychiatric fees including the Crockwell case which accumulated just under twenty thousand dollars and the Brandon Woody case which accumulated over thirty one thousand dollars (Pemberton). The insanity defense accumulates an absurd amount of money towards the cost of the trial for such a diminutive chance of success. To go along with such a drastic increase in trial costs, the insanity defense only accounts for a minuscule number of trials while having an even lower success rate. While the rates may vary from state to state, on average less than one defendant in every one hundred actually raises the insanity defense. Within the small percentage that the defense is raised, the chance of the defense actually succeeding is even tinier. In 2005, the National Institute of Mental Health conducted an eight state study, in which they studied the success rate of the insanity defense within those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Short Term Mission Trips Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and every day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible because of that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need and went, since then short term mission trips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the popularity of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way the trips are led to the extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the amount of money and time that they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships that are acquired during the short term mission trips. In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American countries. Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and the hurricane left five billion dollars worth of damage in its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This event caused a new wave of events also of short term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities torn to shreds decided to act. For a couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up, rebuild, and show love to the people of these devastated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages of Li Fi Light has 10000 times wider bandwidth than radio frequency so the capacity of data transfer will be better than that of Wi Fi. Instead of using radio wave, Li Fi uses visible light for communication. Data transmission through Li Fi is very cheap as LED uses very less amount of energy. Security of a Li Fi network is much better because the light cannot penetrate the walls so no one can misuse the network. The shortage issue of radio frequency bandwidth may be solved by using Li Fi. Using Li Fi each street lamp can be used as a free data access point. Underwater Wi Fi does not work at all, here Li Fi can be used for data transmission 5. Disadvantages of Li Fi Although there are lot of advantages of Li Fi there are many challenges that we have to face and overcome. Chaparral plants are able to regrow very quickly and encroach over the area of the flowers. This is necessary for the stability of that environment and ensures future success. The flowers from the flowers are trapped in the soil and are released next time there is a fire. This entire process is called secondary succession. The Southern California Chaparral is in itself threatened. Fires, overgrazing, and invasive species have disrupted it over the course of many years and it is now in danger. According to the WWF, the Southern California Chaparral one of the most endangered ecosystems in North America (California Chaparral and Woodlands). The Chaparral are often close to residential and commercial areas and this can be detrimental. Runoff from the residential areas can contaminate the soil and stop primary production. More land is also revamped and turned into more human expanses. The land is often treated very poorly and the habitat of many animals are destroyed. Unfortunately when fires occur, the brush is able to grow back, but the wildlife is adversely affected.Because of fires and human intervention, there are a few endangered plants and animals. Some endangered animals include the California Gnatcatcher and Heermann Kangaroo mouse. In addition, there are a lot of flora that are very rare and only exist in this area. • 37. Comparison Between Menkaure and His Wife, and Nike from... Naturalism in art refers to the depiction of realistic objects in a natural setting. The Realism movements of the 19th century advocated naturalism in reaction to the stylized and idealized depictions of subjects in Romanticism, but many painters have adopted a similar approach over the centuries. One example of Naturalism is the artwork of American artist William Bliss Baker, whose landscape paintings are considered some of the best examples of the naturalist movement. Idealism is the attitude that places special value on ideas and ideals as products of the mind, in comparison with the world as perceived through the senses. By an unknown artist, the sculpture is thought to date from the period 220 BC 190 BC (though some scholars date it as early as 250 BC or as late as 180 BC). Her drapery serves to dramatically emphasize both her dynamic forward movement against the wind and her full, robust form her powerful thighs and the active, contracted muscles of her torso. The drapery clings with thin, long, and uneven ripples to her breasts, abdomen, right leg, and left thigh, its near transparency revealing these parts of the body almost as if they were nude. Excess fabric forms heavy yet dynamically irregular shapes and bunches. A long, uneven arc of cloth between her legs accentuates their motion and implies the counter force of the wind against her body. The sculptor draws attention to this downward arc with a swath of drapery that flies forward from the left hip and collides in a V shape with the longer swath at the Nike s pelvis. At the same time, in the back of the statue fabric soars out behind the figure in rigid crests. The effect of this drapery is choppy and uneven, the wind whipping the cloth as it does sea below into irregular peaks and troughs.
